Giants Claim Jose Quintana off Waivers From Angels

"Giants just picked him up. Remember from the White Sox wasn't quite as effective with the Cubs. Obviously, it doesn't have great numbers with the angels. But What's going on with him. Well, he's not. He's not been very effective in particular as a starter, and you know, he there was a time in his career where he had command issues, and that all came back. He just hasn't pitched that much in the last 2.5 years. Pandemic injuries, et cetera. The one thing I'll say on his behalf is that he's had the worst year of his professional career, and Joe Maddon and the Angels pitching coach Matt Wise. Went out of their way on a number of occasions to talk about what a great mentoring, Uh, factor influence. He's been with some of the younger Spanish speaking pictures on the Angels staff now. You know, down the stretch the the Angels. They didn't claim him, uh, to have a mentor right? They want a guy who can get some people out. So maybe they think there's something there situations. I don't know if the Angels or rather, the Giants get a A huge division leading it looks like they're not going to be caught. Maybe they use a guy like Quintana to to gap out other guys in the rotation. I mean, I don't think it cost them much. So who can fault the dart throw if they if they think they can catch lightning in a bottle for a month? Yeah, Matt. Thank you so much. It's always great catch up with the

"Fifth avenue golden sachs whatever. You wanna call it or of stiffler in his mom mother. Meanwhile meanwhile back jones's first on the field new england came gonna smith says he's got swagger like oh man. I'm so hype already so so mad. All my gosh please. We need to get that draw for this year every single time you talk about. How great knocked jones out there. But this is great. Isn't it like a great app is back in training. Camp started in. Our rogers is in and randall. Cobb made brockman seem like schefter. And we're in rappaport all rolled into one and you know the dramas already ratcheting up. I love it. Yeah we got a sense from indu granted there was going to be some interesting drama laying out ahead of us for the year with aaron rodgers. Well i mean you already. Seeing i mean gouda kuhn said today. You know that they made the deal rotten randall. Cobb 'cause aaron wanted it right and and that and everything that he laid out as you know we're we're we're gonna come up with a plan to factor. Aaron starts in process is like why the hell do you need your quarterback to essentially you know. Hold his breath in the corner you know. Or or like the sheriff in Blazing saddles putting his own. Gun was had to make the townspeople thinking to pull the trigger. You know y did you need to have something like that happened in order to do like what you should do with your goat quarterback as he's entering a seventeen year which by the way neither for nor bart starr was ever did i. It's just it's just shocking that they're like yeah you know we're aaron wanted this thing and it's just like typical rogers in the fact that you know. He kinda rescued randall. Cobb from houston and bringing them in where he can mentor. The guy who supposedly the next randall. Cobb and also give rogers appelt on the wall that makes them feel better about coming to work and It i it's. it's kind of mind boggling. But i think roger's is going to get what he wants this year. Which is all right on your show. I earned you know mason crosby. We won't send him out on fourth and goal anymore. Got it like this is it. This is your last rodeo. Potentially or the beginning of the final years that you have here because it's all then figured out although yesterday's press conference made it seemed like it was not. How amazing was that press conference yesterday. All thirty two minutes. just unbelievable. Well you know. I mean the statement but i think that might resonate a little bit It was him saying that green bay wasn't a vacation destination and that people are coming to green bay to play with him and be there with him win with him and you know none of what he said was. Was you know false. But i think there's a lot of prideful cheeseheads who for thirty years are used to people you know. Green bay having generational talented quarterbacks because they're green bay you know and there may be a lot of people saying you know so you don't like living here. I thought you know you love living here and you love the community. Love the fans and you kind of called it. Not a vacation destination you know and that might rankled some people but again toe meets ball. He's throwing it. He's playing it. Mvp caliber people are gonna love him. You know once again and Every game is going to be high drama thoroughly high-drama little mini series many seasons in in in one week. They're the team to watch all year long. it's going to be amazing. Yeah no one's gonna care when he lights up the bears for four hundred four touchdowns well except the bears. Andy dalton just them also by the way. Can you think of the package that the better business bureau will send out. They'd come to green bay. Come take your vacation and watch aaron rodgers. Maybe you might say it's a new campaign that's right shotgun beers bahktiar that someone of fair young. Come to vote wisconsin. Do you know State of champions boxing. We'll see if the packers do it. And you know i but again it's just like i said yesterday and throughout the the the weeks leading up to the season and we'll be talking about it every week during the season. It really is about what brady did. What brady's spending able to accomplish. What every other quarterback wants and what every other team thinks they can they can do by swapping out a new quarterback and obviously not all of it's gonna work out very very few of it's going to work out but Like i said every game is just going to be totally lick. I was just thinking yesterday. We're talking here in connecticut. Because i'm at the nbc headquarters and they're all like you know box cowboys and it's just you sit there and you think about it and it's just so amazing it's going to be so let you know and now you know. Tj is is dad hers like what's going on with him now get another routes my sources simply did cut them the nucci right so i don't know if he's going to be there. My sources tell me were dax shoulders. Just sort. just precautionary rich. We just you know we don't want to put talk. Everyone's got sources now. I had to talk with someone in oxnard less yesterday afternoon and they told me i didn't go to twitter and break the story. I should have. But i didn't even think about it but he'll be today is in no. He's not a great drop. Read rich eisen chow. What does it say. Chaldean say jong says chow. Filing system is a total complete. It was great until i threw chris under the bus and told you the great dad just launched under that. Chris is trying to pull himself out from underneath the semi outside of the studio. Because i said to joe. Chris doesn't believe that he's mvp. Because your team isn't winning. He being otani reg as you know. There's a difference between valuable and outstanding. It's just whatever your definition is not. You know what this is. I i am going to You choose. you did not throw him under the bus. You gave an accurate portrayal of the take that brockman. His hat on this subject consistently i might add. Thank you it's all time but now it is time. No but now. It's time to pay the reaper to have this said to the face or the eardrum of the person who would have a big problem with that take. What a joe mad about. He did not directly. Call me in a hole which was which was nice but he just explained you know what he sees every single day and why he thinks you know shohei is the clear runaway winner going to be the winner of the award which i agree with. I just think you know. I want angels to play meaningful games. I want them to be in the postseason so we can see what this kid can do with the. You don't want see that come on. Don't don't i do as a fan of baseball. Yeah okay this. Is you know what this reminds. me of. This is similar to When method man was in studio. And i forced you to tell him to take. I'm just glad that jets held the line In a way that they can feel comfortable with for them to at least point to when they drafted another quarterback in the first three years from now. So they've got those bases covered. I'm so glad they got that one done. I mean come on. He'll get free to tips for life. It's gonna be great. So is that what it was. "Sharp with its indicate. He doesn't hit on the field. Which i love it. it's one of the most overrated things we do on our game. Everybody wants to see this extra work on the field all the time. Especially this time of the year. I think that it contributes to getting better. There's always appointed diminishing returns city in and i don't like when guys get on weary. He does that. He doesn't teach those very lightly between starts it's not this elongated It's like when you go to the practice golf. You hit a couple of good shots it just keeps with swing poorly and then you stay there. Another half hour to try to swing better again. He knows what he's doing and he knows what he needs extra this or that and then he does but he has it he cannot handle it better. I'm telling. You cannot handle something better. And i love working with him in regard stalled this and believe me. I'm just i'm falling we from the sheer love of the game perspective joe joe madden from the los angels angels here on the rich eisen show from a sheer love of the game. You like watching him hitting or pitching. So i really enjoyed yet. That's and right now. I mentioned it last night so unusual for. They're gonna come after him hard every time. Obviously it's so unusual a hit or when he gets strike kid. Hey swing almost every time you need that it's full-fledged it is back well to the ballpark swing I mean hit this hard as they possibly can. This is not this. Check swing involvement It's incredible it's it's ability to get off his best laying on a on a pitch that he likes it in beyond that he's taking walks. She's able to shut it down when it's not a good pitch and that's what i'm saying status way. Don't don't give any thoughts right. Not let them just play. He's playing baseball. This was everybody should seek All of us that over think things at times he is. You really need to appreciate what he's doing how it's doing it because that's the way it should be pure joy for the game he's years he said he's a gym rat baseball player and he goes absolutely properly joe. It's the sound off the bat. The ball makes the one two nights ago it just sounded like a cannon no lie i told you what he hits them and they bring it up. We all brought it up. Yeah it was. it's a different sound. it's like an explosion. There's there's a few guys that are able to do that. And he's he's at the top of this. I guess he said more homeless. Four hundred fifty footer. Better this year The other one that said for sixty two which i still think is an artificial. Not i don't i don't care what they say. I mean that they would eventually land was beyond that. It's i. I don't i don't understand this stuff and they tell me it's accurate I don't always believe everything i hear. So it's it's incredible to watch it. It is catch. Yeah the exit velocity to. I mean in all your years in the scored. can you compare that sound to someone else. I mean obviously. Mike has done it over his career as well. But yep i'd be bonds when i saw bonds and griffey Coming up You know if you do that on occasion but Was with those guys on a daily basis. Like shohei it's different. It's different the homeland last night. You know ball a little bit down in a way and he just he literally flipped it and that was a bullet to write. I don't even know what that was off the bat philosophy Every you barrels it up man. It is going to get hit extremely hard number thirty seven last night. Till where's the rally. Monkey is in a cage behind her desk whereas they've been bringing up this little Curry dog at chipmunks starting the yellow the latter innings so. It's almost like a. I think it's a seventh inning kind of stretch. I'm not even sure the reason i remember. We brought the monkey could bear years ago. A lot of these guys stand it. We thought it was so weird awkward and and a lot of times. Just gotta wait for me to become cool. But i don't know the as the monkey. Just hold him back Maybe for the oakland back starts hike but guess other little gig dot going on philly olympic function. The crop yet you know really really was annoyed by the rally. Monkey darin erste. You really was for some reason. It really well. A lot bothered. Darren but really right. I said it not you joe. Great to have you. We it was just an. It's fun to be able to talk to you a little bit. Even just a little bit about two thousand and two. It was lightning in a bottle that six and fourteen start and that was really fun so really enjoying watching you manage now and have fun. I mean how do you not have fun with this guy. Absolutely i agree with you hundred percent. He should regardless of the shohei otani not we. We should all be very grateful for the opportunity to work in the major leagues We make it into life and death in it really. Should it truly be funny games. And that's what we got to really create throughout the entire industry both with the players and the fans watching us and I believe that one hundred percent and you know missy. No that's true buying point. Thanks for having me on today. It's always a pleasure squad to talk to you again. It's been a little bit too. Long will invest pistole rich. I'll pass it along. Thanks joe this job. Man of the la angels. And i. i did. Put you on the spot chris did. I wasn't expecting that because it's fun to bring you into the conversation and you are resident baseball. Two of the rich eisen show. Suzy shuster end four rich. Eisen chris brockman case feller. Tj jefferson thrilled to be with you. It's always a pleasure really appreciate that shot. Joe madden is on the phone right now. Thrilled to have the manager of the angels calling in today because he's an old friend of mine. And joe i haven't seen you since we ha- since the angels the world series in two thousand and two how are you. Thanks for taking the time. Let's do it again right. No kidding you're welcome. It's great to hear you get. It's great to be with you. How many years this now in all with the angels are we at thirty two thirty three This and i i left. I think it was thirty one. So this is my second pullback thirty two thirty three something like that. I signed in seventy five Without a boulder colorado. And then i started in seventy six went through two thousand five left and came back last year so it is home. It feels like home. It's it's really strange. Go to these different spots and come back with the uniform on. It's like you never left and when you talk to some your players about your experience because you've got a couple of other guys you've got jose. Molina who was benji is little brother right. And a couple pitching coaches to who were with you for that. Two thousand and two run. How do you get your guys now. Who were so far removed from that to realize that you've got all these guys that won a title for the angels right there in front of them. Yes they're aware. I mean our guys are aware of everything. These days It's just a they regardless of the coaches have been there or not just a matter of competency and how they interact with the group and right. Now i'm here to tell you a of course. We were missing some really key components but we walk in a locked room. I don't know if it had been in a better one. I've i've been really good ones. I'll be in chicago in tampa bay loved all those guys too but this thing here right now the way we're all coming together So real likes to really create the culture last year You know that mini season. Lotta people for to it at the twenty twenty season. It was just an abbreviated form at that. Time to get your out there and stuff the culture this group is. This group is doing dangerous for this year and your succumb and it really joy to work every day with these guys angels manager joe madden joins us here on the rich eisen show. Suzy shuster in for rich. It's gotta be because of shohei ohtani my favorite baseball player. I need to know what it is like for you. Managing this sensation He's Takes care of everything he he knows what he wants. He knows how to to work about to get his work done to get what he wants. He is an incredible baseball athlete. Where he's able to do things on the fly. Oh great stuff but a nightly basis whether it's on the mound at the place on last night show they're gonna try to bump it then he said no and then he then he smokes a pitch He's he's just a really good baseball player with a high baseball intellect. I just we communicate every day between me him and he pays translator and we talk about yvonne gay conversations but Find out what he's up. How stealing what he thinks he can do on a particular day. And we will with that from there. And i think that's part of the success issues about simply kept. It's a real simple conversation daily and that sets up the next day and he's just unique talent. Obviously that's an understatement. But it's it's all on him and so he he's makes it really easy to work with. What's his interaction like with all the other players then with that language barrier say everybody talks about the language barrier. It's really about there. He's trying real hard and he's able to communicate in english. I just like me. When i tried to communicate in spanish with my guys that i throw my Two years of high school two years of college up there and they understand enough. And i keep trying to learn more and that's what he's doing They giggle he giggles easily. He's compared to laugh your issue lashes system based all the time and a little bit too series. This year is the exact opposite and and the players in the interest so well so the sense of humor's there he the interest in learning which is absolutely there and so the the guys they they they get along greatly and he is a big part of the reason. Why obviously not just on the field but the clubhouse obama's all this really makes it easy. I know how incredibly levelheaded you are but to ever sit back and think about just how lucky you are to be where you are right now to manage this incredibly unique talent grateful for a lot of things i I do believe. I've learned the right to be here over a period of time and that's really important to me as opposed to a job him to make For whatever reason. I came up through the minor leagues. I think that's right way to do it. scott. I think that's the right way to do it. And learn from some of the best of every done this and then they get the opportunities in different cities and then they get this chance right here and i do believe my go to interact with. Shohei is because of what i've learned over the course of the years from a lot of great coaches and managers experienced Deal being the gift of experience..

"Who you're playing. I agree background james. Thank you. I got a lot of support for todd. I agree thank you james onion bagel energy by todd poland iowa. Hi paul. what's on your mind today. Hey guys you know. Todd should be an mba official. Since i mean he says everything should be how was in the seventies But i like joe. Maddon said baseball is a sport of tradition. And i think right now. At a crossroads between tradition and stubbornness because we all agree. That the nba's worst days when they were tape delaying big events and we just went through. Baseball's standalone biggest time where it can shine and they tape delay the celebrity game and they put the draft in the middle of the nba finals. Game baseball is not listening to anybody. Who's giving advice on how to grow the game. Their head in the sand boomer audience is the only people they care about all right. Well thank you paul. Yeah they try to cram everything in but you know. The angels drafted twenty pitchers. They didn't draft a position player. Other than pitchers. That's it now. If you look into philosophy behind that you're trying to get your trying to get pitching. Let's say you got two all stars out of that. So let's say you hit on ten percent and you got to all star caliber arms out of that over the next couple of years. Okay got hitters though if you could come up with a couple of pitchers and my and i like what joe maddon said. Hey why don't we. At the latter part of the draft just draft speed gut at some point speed is going to play a role in major league baseball. I just feel that. Maybe it's part of me hoping it's still there. There is nothing. It sounds crazy to say this especially to a younger audience when ricky henderson got on first base it was it. There was a chess game just because he disrupted everything he Everything you throw over. Then he gets a second well. He's going to score on a base hit. So you're trying to keep him close. And then you may throw a fastball. Instead of a break like he steal. Third get to third worry about a loud pitch. Ricky could get on first and nobody would get a hit and he would still score. It was there was something about that and it was mentally fatiguing for the opposition. It would drive me crazy. You know when i would watch in the cardinals would get guys on and you go. Oh god they're just going to run and run and run and run. And i love that strategy. They're not. I love the home run but if you sprinkle in everything else there and you get movement it. I go back to what the angels did. When mike socia- managed them to a world series title. They would hit and run. They would take the extra base. They were great on relay throwing small things but they won because of that. Now joe trade. It's about the analytics the analytics tell us don't do that. Somebody is going to be a counterattack here at in oregon joints. Wait a minute. Ed in marvin says ed. An oregon cursed on the air. He was on hold. Ed is that you. This is eric in oregon on. Yes i absolutely did down the air. Okay going back. I reviewed the tapes. Yeah that was okay. Eric in oregon. Okay what were you calling in because you were talking to your coworkers and you dropped an f bomb. There i did i did. I left yankee stadium a couple of weeks ago. We'd be wonder pretty tough game like one or two o'clock in the morning walking out to the bus thank you. I'm still have that opportunity to relive those moments. That i had as a young manager coming up which gwen romanticize which i tend to do that. Shit and that's the part about the minor leagues. "Of things that you that makes it difficult. So it's a win win absolutely for everybody involved in We're going to see him again. He's gonna play well against us absolutely believe that. And i think it's great the spray for baseball so when win. The rule changes the commissioner. Said we're going to take away the seven inning. Doubleheaders not gonna put a runner on second base next season. What do you. What do you think those decisions. What first of all at second base has been a thorn. The whole time i Not a tech spider a game I don't understand that. I don't get it And this is one of those things that are game is space the heat the tradition. Why do you want subtract. Everybody wants to take tradition out of every anymore. Either can't you just don't wanna micro. Everybody wants to microwave. Let the game be played. Yeah there's going to be some really uncomfortable. Stink when you have to state or seventeen innings and loose possibly horrible harbor moment. But that's how this thing done. So let's let's do that again and that's part of what's happening. Front offices are really freaked out about this stuff. Because you have to use pitchers more than you would like to or you'd have to shuttle guys between triple back to the big leagues to go. See yourself for the next day. Those are the problems. That's the real issue is here. It's not about the game itself and as a kid. I loved extra. I if the game was beginning to be it'd be played a little bit more longer. I would love that. I understand school. And i understand. There's word get all that stuff. But that's what the game is so a. I'd love to see that. Go away the seven inning. Doubleheaders interesting. I'm good with going back to nine but are really would hope that they don't go Day night. that's the part that released to kick. I understand i understand. The gate. understand is not going to go away but if you wanna make it palatable to all of us play tunein any games that have concurrent game over half hour later game to that would be the way it used to be when we right. Yeah growing. yeah. That's better for everybody. You know when it when it comes to what the game is now in the strategy now. Can you see somebody being counter. Intuitive whitey herzog. Saint louis cardinal team could you. Could you build a team on speed defense putting the ball in play and still being in having a good pitching staff. Is somebody gonna come a long ago. We can't compete with big markets and getting sluggers. We're gonna do this. I think sluggers are going to be part of it. I still don't think that's going to go with twenty did there. That was a big guy. Why do you work for the interest forbid. That's got to know my thought that was. I thought he was brilliant I'd like i've i've always said like to have it all. Why can't you have a couple of sluggers. George hendrick was on that team. My buddy cuz he was on those particular teams. Jackie clark stepped in their lance But they're able to really listen when you were preparing a game in the dugout. You've that the team could fly. And they're going to put pressure on your on defense all the time. That's an unsettling feeling that's worse to me in a dug up a team that has or three guys that may take you deep I think you could mitigate that a lot more easily than the team..

"Don't be extremist. And i think that's what we become but everything that we're doing. We're extreme and i think there is a middle. I believe in the gray area of everything and we expect both sides at the u u. Turn out to be a better human being actually a liberal arts liberal arts method of teaching baseball. And i think we become polarized with of this and i don't think it's healthy so i agree with you. I think of the given the opportunity. A lot of these players were talking about. Pitchers would be able to pitch more deeply games in it needs to start in the minor leagues just To cut it off here. But when i was managing and eighty two in salem oregon kirk mccaskill is one of my pitchers and he pitched a nine inning. Complete game shutout giving up to its walks. Twelve breakouts against Days while that would never even occurred today a minor league manager with lose his job if he even attempted to permit a pitcher to do something like that. He's joe maddon. The angels manager three time baseball manager of the year two time world series champ given stephen a smith's comments on Shohei otani in the language barrier. How much pressure does shohei feel to be able to speak english. I don't i don't think he feels pressure. I think he's learning. You know it's like if you're in a situation. I speak some spanish right and on occasion. The spanish reporters will asked me to do something in spanish. It's very unnerving situation and and you try and you concentrate and focus. You don't make a fool out yourself. You become embarrassing. So you're but if you're fluent in that language obviously it's much easier to do. My point is as shohei learns more which he is believed. He communicates with us. He says a lot of different things in english. But if the put a microphone is running somebody until you become pretty comfortable with that. You don't even want to go there because you don't want to screw up you don't want to be interpreted the wrong way. That's all that is. Could shohei does a great job with this. E paves interpreter but we also love is outstanding. So give them time. It's like anything else. Give him time. We were in a different culture to different environment. You go to. Japan learn the language that quickly speak it fluently during an interview. Not an easy thing to do. I can't even imagine that. So give him time. He's a very bright young man. He's engaging he wants to learn any will probably shoot he will but it's just a it's a process man like everything else. What was that meeting phone. Call like when you had to tell our pool holes that you were letting him go. I didn't i wasn't a part of that actually spoken albert that night before that game. is upset that he wasn't a nut lineup on. I couldn't tell him everything that was going on. That a knew is going on later on that night. That was John carman and perry on asean gm. They're the guys spoke to him about it and So since that. I really haven't spoken. I know he was upset. Leaving that i understand that completely And i don't blame him. However it's worked out wonderfully for him and wonderfully for us. It was the right thing to do for everybody involved. Sometimes it takes a little time for people to realize or understand that bush breakthrough that he was able to stay in los angeles. Enough to pick up and leave was not uprooted..

"That extra mile taking the all important for step into an authorized dealership. Today wasn't that long ago that our next guest was known as a world series winning manager. He's got a new title. He's show a tani's manager. Joe maddon who joins us on the show. How's that feels that official title go. I'll take it. it's it's been. It's been a lot of fun. he saw. You saw him. During the all-star weekend are week two days. A he's he's all of that he just a wonderful young man he's very humble Across perfectly and probably the best town. Possibly that's ever played the game. Would you compare him to. And i've i've been asked that and everybody goes all over the map in every. Obviously the babe ruth can purses we'd never knew the babe actually looked are played like we just see the still little lakes running around the bases a lot. But i would say it's. It's more like a bo jackson for me just to be able to dominate. The bogue dominated once both sports but choi dominating both sides of the ball in our game is so different. And i don't even if it's gonna happen again. I don't know to this level but some kids gonna come along. Tried to do in probably accomplished even lorenza cincinnati decades. Pretty good to up ever seen him. He sought to cal state fullerton. He's pretty pretty good hitter. Also but anyway it's going to be a while. But i'd say bo regarding dominance combos sides of the ball in half great athlete that he actually is when we were growing up. Chances are your best player. Your best hitter was the pitcher at right. But at what point did we go okay. You can't do both. You can't be a pitcher and a hitter thank you. Of course you did it in literally. I did it in league ball myself. I did american. Legion ball When you get to college actually started out as a pitcher and a stock pitchy. Because they couldn't hit anymore. So i became a catcher. But i think by the time. Get the college they make you make that choice up to that point. A lot of guys are able to do. Both you don't play as long season. The competition is different. Stresses on what you do in your body different Training all these different as the specialization. That's necessary to dominate as a pitcher whereas hitter is different. So i think you could get away with it Probably through college at some point but the by the time you get to professional ball it really really causes you to focus on one record the other except if you have this talent show he does. What did you discuss with him about. Competing in homerun derby. That guys will talk about you. Kinda screw up your swing and the amount of energy that it takes to be in your did. And here's the thing i we get. We put all these parameters on everybody anymore. Everybody tries to put it in. Somebody said Which you can and cannot do. I don't do that. i don't believe in that. I came up with that in first place. It's an easy narrative that seeded to defend in a sense..

"Hour on this wednesday. Your phone calls. You're welcome. We'll get to those also talked to shohei ohtani as manager. Joe maddon elliott angels skipper russell wilson. Third been awhile since we spoke to him last time. There were fireworks. Ross one sout agent gave adam schefter list of four teams. If you're willing to trade him what will happen to russ. Where's he going to go. Well he's still in seattle as i predicted. All he wanted to do was have seat at the table. that's it. He just wanted to let everybody know he wants to try to be in some of these decisions and now do i think russ. Is there for the long haul. I do not i think. Seattle probably in the next year. So we'll move on from russell wilson. Just my thought. Don't have any inside information there. But i don't see him ending his career to seattle seahawks but ross will join us coming up. And we'll talk about that interview back on february ninth right after the super bowl when he kinda spilled his guts really felt about what was going on in seattle. Phoenix suns have responded well to losses so far this year's postseason they don't seem to get to rattled even though they had a bad game in game three got blown out and the question of the finals is whether milwaukee's game three was out of desperation or really there's a true shift in momentum and one thing for sure janas healthy this. This cannot be understated. What he's doing with that injury and players who had that injury coming on this show in saying it's six weeks it feels like he's one hundred percent it like if i'm phoenix. I hope he's one hundred percent. I'd hate to find out. He's playing seventy percent while he's putting up thirty four and thirteen every single night. He shooting better from the line. Or certainly did this last game but you know are the bucks. Chris middleton and drew holiday gonna hit their shots if phoenix tries to shutdown janas. It's a different. Nba finals not much a history. Going on with these players. In fact it's hard to root against somebody unless you're in phoenix. Unless you're milwaukee like there's no bad guy here. Maybe maybe chris paul earlier in his career but you know these state farm guy. We're fine with chris. Paul and maybe this is the final chapter as a great point guard. You got to underdogs here. This reminds me of the cubs in the indians in two thousand sixteen i they were to underdogs like if the indians won. It would have been a great story as well now. The cubs were a very good team. But still they hadn't won when you have butler versus duke. then you have the underdog against the favourite. i don't want butler versus george mason. You wanna have that underdog you want to have somebody root for somebody root against you. Don't have that the series is unpredictable. And i don't know what to expect tonight. In milwaukee i expect to be phoenix. Expect phoenix to be better more aggressive. Maybe they shoot more free throws here but that comes with being more aggressive. So when mani williams the head coach of the sons doesn't want to talk about the free throw disparity but does talk about the free throw dispiriting but then doesn't want you to bring up the fact that he didn't wanna talk about the free throw disparity but then he did. Here's the sun. Shed coach after last game. You said you didn't wanna complain about the fouls but then the next sentence..

"Another tweet about Dexter Fowler three minutes ago about one of the prospects being headed back the other way in a trade, then another tweet. A minute after that, about on the Angels were honored that Fowler waived his no trade clause. Then another tweet 38 seconds ago about how Fowler's the third former Cubs player to be reunited with Joe Maddon. So he had one tweet about Trevor Bauer. Right? Trevor Bauer. The Mets have a deal. And then there is 123456789 10 tweets about Dexter Fowler. To the angels. Okay, So now this is why I scholar who's been in the league since 2008. Yeah. Eyes a 2 59 lifetime. Here. He is worth all those tweets. This is what you call Vegas in this direction. And for those of you prospecting out there, Joe Adelle, Uh, he's struggled last year. He's gonna end up in the minor leagues because of this move. Um, this doesn't deserve 10 tweets. I don't tend to it Did you can tweet love Dexter Fowler? This is Vegas. Misdirection. This is I don't want to see that tweet on my timeline on the page when I load it, So I'm gonna have this barrage. Dude. Andrew Luck could come back tonight and no one's having 10 tweets on extra look returning to the FL, but Hey, Dexter Fowler. He's a pivotal cog tow Watch Mike Trout have a big opening day and then be forgotten about until three All Star break and then M v p talk. But here's the thing. And this is why I'm excited because this is where you have to kind of read the room a bit and get in a little bit deeper than just headlines Right cause look, we go all we always go deeper than headlines here on the show. If this deal wasn't happening, or of Bob Nightengale had missed it. That tweet is no longer up there, or it's addressed right if he puts up there, the medicine and Trevor Bauer have a deal, and now he's back on social media knowing full well what the what the reaction has been that nobody else has had this and he's left it up there. This tells me that he's saying, Look, the trade's happening. I got the story. I'm cool. Eventually it's going to get confirmed, and this is how it's gonna go. Because if if he was really concerned, he would have deleted that, too, because you're inside. You have that That's that's a big deal. You don't leave stuff up there. You can't take it down because I mean, that's not been screenshot input everywhere, right? But still, but that's but that's when you would. But that's what you have to admit. Hey, I didn't get it right. And I got that. When you run inside, you say, Listen, I missed it or I didn't get it. Got it wrong and you take it down, so it doesn't become something that continues on because if you take it down now, at eight at 10 after eight at night, Okay? Yes. Bob Nightingale would have gotten the story wrong. But then it turns onto okay. Trevor Bauer is not going to be a met. And then the everlasting stuff. This story continuing to go that maybe Trevor Bauer is a met in the misdirection doesn't continue, so at least we have the ending to that part of it. So just just knowing about putting stuff on Twitter and taking things down and what it means. When when you're an insider on social media, I'll tell you I really feel like I feel good that he hasn't taken it down. Hasn't addressed it because if there was a problem He beat. That was 100% problem. He would write about it. I mean, I get that when you don't do anything that's usually the best. And if you if you leave something alone, that's always because you never know what you might do when you have to answer to something. But when you're an insider, and you have a story, and it's not going well, then you can't just sit here and say Well, okay, yeah, I got it wrong. Big deal. You know you and I could be wrong about a football game and we get all kind of stuff in our in our timeline is going on. I can't believe you told me the Jets were gonna beat the Dolphins. Dolphins won 37 3. Yeah. Okay. Yes, I'm the first person ever predict a football game wrong, But when you're an insider, it's different. So when that's where, when that's where you are you are at with when you're putting something out there and then you're back in your active on social media. I'm still I'm feeling pretty good that that's how this dis story's going to end with Bauer to the Mets, and we're gonna get the details. I'm feeling I'm feeling better than I did about 45 minutes ago. Let's just say Yeah, I'm going the other way of all right. He put it out there with the number of Retweets Screenshots and air time That's been given to it. You can't put it away. I mean, you can't You can't put that genie back in the bottle. You just have to own it. And whatever the ratio is, the ratio is And I think for him, Yes, you should be. You feel positive that he there's there's that bit of hope. You know, Hope goes, cuts both ways, as we know from Shawshank Redemption, buddy. The best of things were the worst of things. You know, it could be a dead deep, dark, dangerous path for you, and I'm hoping that's not. That's not the case for you. I really do I you need some happiness and joy in your life because all the Knicks ain't gonna do it. Syracuse. Sure as hell isn't doing it. Um, Yeah, I don't know. I didn't even know what else to give you for that. But the Mets you you've been waiting on it. I mean, we we watched you die a little bit back in the World Series. And now you'd get Trevor Bauer and you become the villain, because, well, there's a lot of people that have a liking. Problem with him, as in they don't So you become public enemy number one. I'm still feeling good. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna let you do that. I'm not gonna let you do it. No, no, no, not let you do it to me Not to let you do it to me. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You out, man. No, no, no, no, not let's do it. I'm still feeling good man. I'm still gonna be feeling good about this. Don't do it to me. Don't you know I haven't all those negative vibes out there in the atmosphere, But I don't know. There's a lot of negativity to Shawn Watson is not showing up at your doorstep. And neither is Trevor Bauer. You're gonna go over to What? So you're not the lean into a pitch in the seventh inning just to try to get on base. If that happens, I'm going to go two for two and keying your car. How about that? Like you're gonna get racing stripes on both sides. You know, often you've threatened to ki all our cars. We've got so much audio. I could fill a full hour of best job, I think. Yeah. Good luck. Good luck with that, buddy. Good luck. Good luck card does get keyed your screwed. It doesn't matter. Your car is still going to get key. But you're not gonna have any proof that it was me. You're gonna have a story on the radio, and your car is gonna be key. And I'm gonna say, Where's the smoking gun? There's that. Where's the smoking gun? Because I'm gonna take the key and I'm gonna I'm gonna throw it into the into the ocean like in match point. When you try to try to throw the key into the water, and it bounced out. I was gonna throw the key into the ocean. No one's ever gonna find it. Well, you just said that on air to you dope. I'm gonna melt it down. I'm gonna melt it down. It's gonna be going out the key and they don't have a little bit either way. You've all you've admitted to all of it. If nothing else, I could take it. "So dan. i want you to help. Explain exactly how wild this year has been for sports cards with an example and that example that sticks out to me and shocks me every time i consider it. Is this record setting. Mike trout card. Can you tell me a little bit about the card itself. So it's a it's a two thousand nine bowman chrome super factor dan. Hey ducky is a writer and researcher for espn and a card collector. Himself it's got autograph on a autograph on grated. Basically there are three companies professionals Authenticator beckett s g c they grade. How perfect on a scale of one to ten a. Carter's so this might trump card is a nine so it's pretty. It's pretty close to perfect but the autograph is greeted at ten. So it's really close to perfect card can awesome. It's a trap route card also on top of that. It's a one of one so there is only one of these in existence yet. It's so interesting because mike trout in public is like a semi anonymous celebrity like a lot of fans casual fans and sports. Even don't really know him. But this card this one of one card with the perfect autograph. What did actually go for went for nine. hundred million. A new record has been set for the most valuable baseball card in history. Somebody paid three point. Nine million dollars for this mike trout rookie card. I know that when joe maddon was confronted with the information that he had a player who's card solta that much giving like. How much does the mona lisa goes for. Wow i'm into art. That puts him right up there with the mona. lisa's self. For what what is anything by a davinci or wow that is. That's that's pretty. That's pretty phenomenal. And it's actually. It's like yeah. I mean that's disappear question. And what was the previous record holder in terms of the most valuable card that had ever been sold at auction. The previous holy grail. Was you know the the honus wagner keys who six said turn of the century the twentieth century like early nineteen hundreds heart on. It's such a lower behind it. That's not happening with mike trump there. There's no incredible backstory to have his card exists. It's it's modern. It's not easy to obtain but it's not it's not like tobacco card that was pulled from from production really what happened to wagner was once thought is that wagner didn't like that he was being used his likeness is being used to sell tobacco the kids so he objected a pulled the card from production and that was that the other less known school of thought is that wagner he wouldn't be compensated for his likeness so he objected because he wouldn't be paid and the facts the truth which is a i like this story better it would be the like the earliest flexing of brand autonomy. It is remarkable what you say though the difference between his honus wagner card which does like looking at it. I'm looking at it right now on my screen. It's like this historical american artifacts that reminds me of like a daguerreotype from like the civil war or something it looks important and ancient and the trout card. The fact that this object can be worth more than any other thing that came before in modern times and the guy who sold this. Mike trout card dan for this terrifyingly large amount is a man named ken golden. So tell me a little bit more about him. What's the business that guy runs. Golden is ken. Golden golden auctions diammonium. Sins loan out nike sneaker. How much does that they work can in your eyes to me. Cubs extend their winning streak to 4 behind Alec Mills' 7 innings of 3-hit ball in a 2-0 victory over the Royals

"Baseball games last night. Cubs rolling along behind Alec Mills cheese Guy's been fabulous, gave up two runs to Nick Castano's In Cincinnati, and that was it seven shutout yesterday. Cubs went to nothing. And I loved again, David Ross. Not being wedded to. He's my closer. I got to give the ball the correct Kimbrough because I don't give it to Craig Kimbrel. What am I saying? David Ross absolutely says that a Joe Madden impression is that what you were doing yesterday, you say wasn't professional. And now that's the voice. I did not say He wasn't professional. Yes, you did. But that's the Joe Maddon voice you're using. Well, who is that? That was just mean. Maybe. Maybe in funny. I I'm just telling you Most managers would have gotten on paying him $68 million. That's my closer. I got to give him a baseball. What do you want me to do? I can only put out there who they give me. You know that voice that you do? It sounds like you're pinching your nose as you do the voice, But you're not. It's quite the skill. Isn't that how he sounds standing? Yeah. How do you do that? You're like, you know, like it Sounds like you're pinching your nose easily. I'm not pinching my nose. All I know is that gave me a 16 million Now they're closer. And I got important man. That's what you want me to do. What I like to do

C. S. and then handed you a World Series and we were like me and I could have done it without him no they couldn't if they absolutely could not have it was the perfect manager at the perfect time they'll be hard pressed to find another manager in the Chicago cubs organization that's going to equal that amount of success in that amount of time agreed that's just the facts so this is what so I was listening to Carmen your call on the drive home and I'm trying to relax after you know three hours arguing with you I tried on wide on the way home but these callers were pissing me off when they're bashing Joe Maddon it got me to thinking on Tuesday we were talking about how M. J. iced out Isaiah and I said to you I wish that story would go away forever then yesterday I was driving home and I heard that people bashing Joe Maddon I thought to myself I wish the Joe Maddon bashing would be gone forever and it got me thinking what other things in sports that we talk about often do you wish would go away forever now I'm not on this vote because I like to bash Mitch Trubisky but I would assume you wish the Patrick Mahomes to Shawn Watson got drafted before Mitch Trubisky story line would go away forever I'm ready for Isaiah Thomas to go away forever a ground ready for people to stop bashing Joe Maddon for ever yeah the whole Mitch Trubisky thing it it's actually fun because we talk so much football like I what I love for the bears to draft and develop the next you know Aaron Rodgers Patrick yeah but while we're in the throes of this I think it's fun to watch the competition if it's Nick falls we get behind him and if it's meant to get behind him and it's what we do the I say thing has run its course it absolutely has the bashing of Joe Maddon for winning a World Series has run its course trying to think what would be other things that I'm hi I'm written rules of baseball I would like those to go away for ever for ever I don't want to hear about redoing pumping I got had a no hitter in the eighth inning are you bumping well it's a three nothing game and I'm trying to get my team back in it just dumb I don't want to be the guy that's on the other team goes yeah I could've gotten hit by laid a bunt down I knew they were playing back but I wanted him to get his no hitter I don't want him back flipping I just all these stupid rules to stop it just don't like it but what do you like like what would you like to get rid of three one two three three two three seven seven six how do you look at Joe Maddon angle yeah they could have won without him because I think you're nuts but you're entitled to your opinion what do you think let's go to the phones yeah you know it's a quick time out we'll come back we'll get your calls three one two three three two three seven seven six do you think.

Who will Giants hire as manager?

"Where the giants gore right now Hey guy Bruce Bochy who but not a demand is back in the mix one of the last fully autonomous managers you know Joe Maddon is is an analyst guy was on for front of it where the giants going now maybe not to the day Kapler extreme well maybe to the Gabe Kapler street as of there's been talk that he is own list of giants guys to be talked to if he has been talked to already wasn't just did they say bad was three for twelve so it was it is a three for between rival between twelve and fifteen yeah here is good in the make I was surprised only in three years then they only yet in the only given five they give a five or a little over five in Chicago was it like five press was five it was definitely five year gap I think it was five for twenty eight I'm not positive but if you take a little bit of a pay cut that kind of shows you where things are at right now percent and the angels the cost was it it it it matters before he managed in in Detroit short I. N. I don't even know you learn there because it was a very much it was really a winnable situation there that he had one good year but I have to go back and look but getting your rate of just because of of is it has its shortcomings this year was because they wanted a bad back they were they wanted a guy who had been there done that he did it with the with the rays one did win the big one and then when the big one with the with the cubs and they probably hired they probably they had no idea they can get rid of us was because they didn't think the cubs get rid of bad luck the cubs made out of got rid of mad it except for the cubs just they ran into a brick wall the last three weeks of the season they were brutal they they couldn't win is they can get away and go when night nope not gonna win at either in the Milwaukee could lose I mean who would have thought that would the odds of that have been Milwaukee making their playoff cubs don't after your guides or gets hurt down that going to happen but it did not so easy falls out of favor there and let go and he gets to go to the Anaheim where you want to go he wanted to go there they wanted him there that's the reason they got rid of them but if you're not gonna see that that's one of the reasons they said you won't see boshi this year because no one's going to want to paying that much

"For the grill Hauser's going to enter the game with a six and five record and a three point four five ERA he's been pitching in about as well as anybody in the rotation for the brewers recently here in Jordan Lyle's have really been the guys who have been leading the way recently so how's are on the mound for the cubs it was originally spoke. to be Kyle Hendricks a right hander who's ninety nine with a three point three ninety all right but Joe Maddon has pulled the switcheroo it is but announced the Jon Lester is going to start for the cubs instead his numbers actually from ERA standpoint not as good as Hendrix he has a four point one ninety already go the twelve nine record that being said he is a left hander and the brewers right hander line up is not as strong as the a left town line up in terms of the burgers lined up against lefties not as good so you get the idea wanted first pitch twelve o'clock for brewers warm up I have you for that also have you after the game for brewers extra innings talked to then on WTMJ. "Line in Pedro Joe Maddon kinda held court before the cubs Reds game today in Cincinnati and he was asked about his job security says he's very confident that he'll be back with the cubs next year and beyond do you agree unit is a good chance that man's back the new contract I think yeah I think it all depends on what happens from this point going forward and how they and the mere fact that this is even out there leave that there is something hotel for the night okay great a five year one in Cup history so that part yeah bad credit about but it's all about where are you now you know there's a lot of belief that maybe the cops aren't plumbing as well as they should there's other people that they say now this is what the cops are they gave not improve themselves to the point of being better than that so you know it's really gonna matter what the I think that that the only thing with regard to that little Terry Francona in any non Boston and look what Francona had done there so it's not like he's at first to making that kind of a

"The person that motor oil made from natural gas the proof is in the Pennzoil the Chicago Cubs win again today Jonathan over the Reds they've not one seven under last and at this exact moment they have a two and a half game lead in the NL central over both the cardinals and the brewers what hasn't been a perfect year of course for the cubs but I mean they are in first place it's August eleventh still Joe Maddon their manager and his future Jonathan remain a major mystery and a major talking point he's in the last year of his contract the cubs and I give them an extension last offseason so let's rewind the July twenty fourth this was buster only on the baseball tonight podcast talking about Joel Madden's job security if you're Theo and you have made up your mind and I got to believe that after what four and a half years with Joe that they already know whether or not they're going to give an extension and if they're not going to give him an extension and you have access to the guy that you think you might want to replace him with and again this is total speculation on my part whether it's Joe Girardi or David Ross I mean why wouldn't you at least think about it now given the the struggles of the team given the fact that you're trying to shake things up all right that was buster on July twenty fourth comes again or two and a half games in front of the brewers and the cardinals on August eleventh this was Joe Maddon before today's game against the Reds Jonathan Jesse Rogers at the story out on ESPN dot com Joe men's confidence level returning to the team next year is quote very high he said on Sunday quote I'm operating like we'll be together for a couple more years at least I'm not gonna sit and proclaim I'm looking to go elsewhere that's not true is this wishful thinking from Joe Maddon or do you really think there's a chance that he's back with the team after two thousand nineteen well as you mentioned to me several times here first of all they should not be an issue because after you've won the World Series for the first time since forever you would think an extension would be in place for man to be able to have his contract along with Felix dean's contract which is through twenty twenty one for man to have to dance for his supper now in twenty nineteen Jeff is inane to me because whatever the doldrums are with this cubs team were under achievement that we've seen it's not necessary on Joe Maddon in his will make this weird right it makes it we're Jeff because this isn't like dusty Baker toward the end the late don Baylor at the end wrinkle man all the major cause of had were you seen under cheap if you've seen the team not be able to get to get the job done because of personnel because of lack of motivation whatever but Jeff here you have a World Series manager or in a team that continues when over ninety games and continues to be in the playoff hunt and somehow Madden is is on a string that doesn't make sense to me and the reason why the cubs are you even underachieving now is because of a lack of roster depth though the court is not getting it done clearly the bios is the result was that Bryant's others they are not being able to get it done but also when you're trying to find if bins overseas available if you're trying to get guys off the scrap people trying to piece meal team together in August I means your team that rate to get anywhere close with the doctors are the National League so this is that the esteem problem it more so than anything else this is the most pointless drama self created selfish drama there could possibly be I don't what Joe Girardi managing the cubs next year what's the buster say David Ross Ross from ESPN I'll open like David Ross like his work any S. P. N. who's good catcher for the for the cubs at the very end popular guy I don't need a first time manager taken over this team next year the cubs have never experienced this type of success consistent success in generations this is a generational phenomenon Jonathan okay you thought it was a big deal when Lupin Ella took the cubs to back to back playoffs in two thousand seven two thousand eight Joe Maddon won a World Series the cubs open the playoffs every year since two thousand fifteen this is not a guy you get rid of I don't see it I don't see the team quitting on him it's August eleventh and they're in first place they've won seven of ten big win against the Reds today in Cincinnati why are you making this difficult why there's no there's no manager that's going to do it as long as Joe man's done it what is not going to be some people questioning our use of the bull pen or use of closers in there's always going to be things around the way it's gonna be people unhappy liberals Chapman and Miguel Montero the world rather than say some stuff and that's fine okay no one is above criticism even the greatest bands of all time well occasionally be criticized by other players or outside analysts are pundits whatever but I'm a results guy in this guy has delivered results the cubs have been fun yes the up to think that a lot of great players for Joe mad no doubt about it but they were very young and they found a way to make it work and they're having fun and they've won a ton of games why would you change that change for change sake is that is that usually work out we just change things just because you want to change them I I can't believe I can't believe that he was allowed to enter this year without a contract extension and now that he's done that he's clearly still doing a good job because they're in first place I mean if they let him walk in higher Joe Girardi it to me it just it makes absolutely no sense I can't I can't figure it out you go that's that's that's if you want to find out why that's happening is because the eco Jeff that brings down the great great things in in our society are brought down because of eagle in greed sure but but here's the thing the up steam cannot put a figure on himself sure he'll say it in the press but ultimately if madness let dole and man will be able get a job just like that I mean I think this is no question that if he is let go that you'll find another job but the thing is is that feels things see things his own way and he sees that the teams are going in the right direction it's really a at his feet because of the lack of depth on this team I think you might **** players overall don't win you World Series championships but it helps right that we get you when you're looking for a quality reliever you don't find them in July you are able to get that in the offseason he got there with temporal in but you but you if they found him in the summer is a refined him in the off season so it's it's a lot of this is on the on is also on the players as well as I mentioned the core went through it's a really long slump a fire chili Davis if the hitting coach last year so they blamed a lot of different things but the bottom line is on the field you have to have production results not top of that the general manager in the end the president back baseball operations as to be able to do the right thing for the team it all has not worked out well it's good enough but not good enough to be able to research the competing playoffs I mean if you change managers if you just keep losing and we're not you also change managers if there's a bad culture inside the clubhouse it is and it's not it's not I I do not cover the cubs and their day basis so I have not been in that clubhouse in many many years but I'm telling you it seems all indications are it's a very good clubhouse they're having a lot of fun they like each other why change it right to the raiders expect to see Antonio brown on the field anytime soon that's straight ahead Dickerson hood it's yes be in radio white out Antonio brown is filing a grievance against the NFL so he can use his preferred helmet I want my old borders book that we can have all this over home thanks here's how we long for Skechers wide fit footwear I'm six foot five but I can tell you there are certain challenges in life that only big guys understand regular clothes don't fit that regular cars don't when it comes.

"That was last night comes when then today five two they take two of three from the rats are off to a good start the all star game the game that they played and lost was a really really bad game but now all of a sudden they won five out of six after the break listen you're trying to win series especially at home they've won the first two series at home there are not the arrows pointing in the right direction we're going to talk about is it up is my tie guy there's another so the ethical thing going on with that home run which warbird that he hit the ball that was the the ball that former Hey guys I mean I I didn't know about this until today because that you know I was relieved that I was frustrated again watching them they when I was happy didn't we didn't do any I went up that I was exhausted so they know about the whole controversy about him taking the ball from a kid will get to that in a minute couples stats I want to give you from you Darvish them play Joe Maddon this is in the staff but this is from Jesse Rogers from Yu Darvish is quote Jesse treaties is this constitutes as a money quote from Darvish quote I'm almost one hundred twenty percent right now I don't need anything right now it's perfect everything so you Darvish feeling great about the way he feels about his surroundings good about the way he's throwing you know he's a guy that has I don't know the best way to describe it but things need to be a certain way or that's the way it appears for him to excel and like I said to you today but other than his stuff which was fantastic I love the most compelling part of it was you solve some real genuine emotion from him leaving the mound after he struck out and then Darvish this is from Saddam's Sharma says in his first eight starts Darvish had a nineteen point three walk right so you you're much twenty percent almost since then twelve starts he's walked just five point eight percent so that's the biggest reason for the improvement you don't lock everybody gonna pitch batter Joe Maddon talked about you Darvish and the way he's been pitching second straight game of six inning scoreless baseball about it good for him he was so it's really well yeah Didi Conn had no it's stuff I was thinking that this sort of their guide us those two pictures right there that's as good a stuff is you're going to see our guys are coming back shaking their heads I know they were also combination impassable breaking pitches it said about I'm again you just keeps training in the right direction that last RT pretty much as they say into the tank and it worked out pretty well.

"Star break in eight OO nine it can't remember which one member in oh wait they want the world but I do know was right after the all star break Joe Maddon got yes with the Tampa Bay rays that's the one time events overseas ever seen if that if in fact that's the only time that's ever happened in his manager clear fight but he might be due for second one this might be the perfect time instead of the instead of the relax we're gonna get through this thing it might be kind of turnover people not for not for just the sake of doing it because he doesn't do it very often it would mean something because he doesn't get angry very often you would mean something my feeling I think it's a bunch of players in that locker room waiting for somebody to do something whether it be results get angry Joe Maddon get angry whether it be just somebody get in someone's face I some with you that that that this is this does go back to Joe and he might need to pick a second time in as manager of career to like somebody up either verbally or through his actions not always is the velvet hammer using is saying the right way sometimes the kick in the **** is the right way and he has chosen not to go that route at least publicly and that's all in your book where we can find this I mean it it's summertime people shouldn't really need to purchase this book right well yeah I think like we said yesterday Joe meets Joe in the players being opened up trying not to stock a definitive pilot you'll madam like it's that that that that's over stories in there right after the all star break and he said it once he said if it if it meant something to the team so I don't know why Joe isn't going to the actors you do say that you do say that but this I feel like is about the time to do it he had a team meeting the other day probably could have done it there I don't I you know I don't know how how it manifests itself but there needs to be more than just a we'll go get in tomorrow sort of attitude in my opinion I see is always appreciate your time thanks so much for coming on the show Holly J.
