Chances are Um, you had some troubles traveling if you were flying over the weekend, American Airlines and Southwest Airlines Are now warning passengers. This could be a difficult summer of travel. As if we couldn't figure that out for ourselves. Southwest has struggled with thousands of delays hundreds of canceled flights the last month or so because of computer problems, staffing shortages. Bad weather, They say American also struggling With the surgeon delays, and it has trimmed its scheduled through mid July, at least in part because it doesn't have enough pilots. At the same time, the number of Americans getting on planes right now. I mean, it's just skyrocketing pandemic era high 2.2 million travelers were screened at U. S airports just last Friday. That's the highest number since March of 2020. So, uh, I know we as a family. We're flying early next month out west. And as you well know, I'm not the best traveler in the world. So my wife me have to start giving me my pills like today, like right now to get me ready for what's about to occur. But I'm just wondering like there were 54 billion tax dollars paid out to these airlines. 54 billion with a B. What were they doing? Like? What are they doing with the 54 billion? Well, didn't they have like the largest bonuses ever for CEOs last year? Oh, there you go. Yeah, I got 54 billion. Are you kidding me? Like, Where is that money gone? They certainly didn't use that money to hire more employees or heck, even keep their stabs at the level that they were pre pandemic and I know they were prohibited from furloughing or laying off workers as part of that deal to receive the 54 billion, like Where's the dough? So that's where we are. I need to mentally prepare myself for next month because I I know I know it's going to be a pain.

"And I don't think he really wanted to really be a manager again. I think he meant to be on Alex Cora's staff and kind of is like, okay, I'll take the reins this season. But that being said on do you think Cora should come back not like not will he but should he to the Red Sox? I think you should be given a chance to come back. I would like to see some measure of Contrition. I know that he's made statements. I'm sorry this happened and that but uh, I'd be interested. Once you suspension is up and he's basically a free agent and you can do whatever you want. You can go back to ESPN. It could conceivably be hired by another club to be their manager. He could go into baseball Ops or he could return for 2021 is the Red Sox manager and we know what's going to happen if he's turned his manager. He's going to get a big brown or beige on opening day next year and if that's how it plays out and he sufficiently addresses anybody's concerns that he recognizes that that what he did was not a good look up for baseball. But if if once his suspension is up, he falls back to what everybody was doing it, you know wasn't just me and so forth. Then I'm not going to be thrilled with that. So but no, I don't think what he did merits a a lifetime ban. And you know, we we we societally welcome back all kinds of people who've done all kinds of things wrong and the way I look at things if you and this is, you know, if you paid your debt to society which is how we look at it from the back room standpoint and feel free to work. Then you should be able to work and you know players have had issues with uh problems at home voices wage fights in bars or you eyes and so forth and once they're adjudicated to be free and we we like to think societally if people are free to work, they should be able to walk as if every single person who committed a crime in the history of America couldn't find work we'd be in a real pickle right now. So that that's the the philosophical Viewpoint that I take and that's. If core is free to work, you.

"We are your hosts Gabrielle founder of girl at the game and a loan Nelson and we are joined today by a very dear friend of mine someone I have looked up to for a long time. One of the best sports writers. I have ever read Steve Buckley off of the athletic is here Buck. Thank you so much for being our guest. This is absolutely my pleasure. And you know that so thank you for having me. Of course. Let's just start off by talking about what you and I usually talk about which is the Red Sox. What are your takeaways from this first week of baseball? What are you seeing from this two and four bottom of the barrel team? Well, I'm not too stupid cliche because everything I'm about to say is what others have said the difference being that I was saying at the spring training that I was appalled by the lack of starting pitching they were rolling out and yep. Obviously we knew when stated price was traded with put Solo into the match, you know, live like sixty starts right there. And then you lose Chris sale for the season and they they really didn't make an attempt to augment what they were losing, you know, they signed Perez from betweens and you know, Eduardo Rodriguez was coming back but the bottom line is that they didn't seem terribly concerned about what they were putting out the starting pitching for 2020 which signal to me wherever they may say to the contrary that they were looking upon the season as a reboot sort of square the books and fight battles another day. Yeah, we knew it was going to be bad going into the season and we talked about this all winter long, but then when the pandemic hit and sail got the Tommy John it was like, all right, so it's even worse baseball finally figures out how to come back and Eduardo Rodriguez has coronavirus and now has myocarditis. So I don't even know if they're going to see him this year. So this ROM That was already slated to be a total disaster. If somehow even worse. I mean these first couple games though. We at least were hoping that the offense was going to kind of pick up some of the slack. We saw that in opening night. What are you seeing now in terms of been intended e Verdugo Peraza like these new guys, but also players who just don't seem to have it figured out. Well, I'm going to answer your question with the Longview. I'm going to take like five steps backwards and look at all of baseball and somebody who came with agent in the late sixties and nineteen-seventies. I remember for the 1972 season started late and you know only a couple of weeks but we had to prepare for surprises more recently the 95 season started late because they had the replacement package is in spring training in and all that the Red Sox were not picked to be a contender and in ninety-five end up winning the AL East and Tim Wakefield would been released by The Pirates spring training wage. 2016 games so that's why you're saying that if history has taught us anything new have a stoppage to reboot the season or if the season starts or stops and starts again under unusual circumstances. You should be prepared for surprises. So taking that General View and taking five steps backwards. We're seeing some players struggling some players or playing above what else might expect all of them and we're seeing any surprises. So in that Spirit, I'm not going to cast blame, you know point the.
Who is Alex Cintrón, the Astros hitting coach who instigated brawl with the A's?
"Brawl in baseball yesterday. Ramona Reynaud went right after Alex Cintron, who is the head coach for the Houston Astros, And this whole thing was bizarre to Maine. We know that there is a beef between the athletics and the Astros. Mike Fires used to pitch for the Astros was on the on the athletic still is on Lorraine. Oh, gets hit twice in the Siri's that the 2nd 1 I didn't see the first of the 2nd 1 was not intentional. But he was walking to first base is so John boy pretty much tryingto figure out what was going on. And I guess Laredo was trying to tell the picture had to throw the ball. Cintron asked, get suspended from saying his name correctly, If now I apologize, but the bench the hitting coach has to get suspended, has to get a lengthy suspension. Because he is basically egging on Lorraine. Oh, who's at first base? And it was gutless. What the hitting coach did he goes? Oh, yeah. You come over here You come over here. The guys 41 years old, if this is not A 60 70 80 year old heading coach. This is not who is the Mets pitching coach? That's your Phil Regan. This's not him or or the late. Great Don Zimmer with Pedro Martinez, where you see potentially an older person get thrown to the ground. That was not this. This a 41 year old yellow Nazareno basically, Tom come over and fight him, and he did the ultimate Gutless move off. I'm going to tell you to come fight me. But the minute when you take a step forward three for my players are going to step in front of me. And then I'm going to become Mr Hold me back, bro. Type of guy. That's the worst person in a fight. Someone that instigates the fight and then doesn't throw the punch and doesn't actually fight when someone comes charging at you because of you just being ridiculous in the dugout. That guy doesn't get popped if Joe Kelly gets it with what it was an eight game suspension. If this is it, the heading coach here for the Astros doesn't get At least eight games, then that's ridiculous. Albay have no clue how to figure this out. They'll mess it up. Did you agree with that? Then we have a heading coach, basically telling Laredo to come over and fight him. Or Laureano. Excuse me. To come over and fight him. And then he lets what 34 of his players take care of it that was weak. Yeah, it's weak and it's like extra dumb when the league is begging you not to have a bench clearing altercations, and then you instigate won as a coach, not even a player for seemingly I don't even understand the reason. And it even begins. So, yeah, you would think he's going to be in big, big trouble, too. We

"If even if the court is wrong me Let's say I go out of my way. We've seen a couple of cases. If I go out of my way, say something terrible happens to me and we all know and everybody knows that the person who wronged me Is guilty of wronging me, and for somehow they weren't found guilty. And if I go out of my way to go after them people are going to say, Hey, that's a great thing to do that you did what was right. Vigilante Justice Street justice right then and there. I'm still gonna have to pay the fiddler for that. They don't just let me walk free. I mean, there's been a couple instances maybe. They don't just let me walk free. I guess I could look back at the ancient agent George Remus. If I really wanted to do that everything else. Then I'll just let you go. You're gonna have to pay some sort of penalty for doing that. So well, I know a lot of people championing with Joe Kelly did a I'm not taking away the World Series Championship. He might be a little bit more bruise the next day, but they'll still play baseball as long as Major League Baseball will let them. Talk about a guy who will talk to a guy who was a major league baseball player. And a really, really good one on all star Believe two times over. Definitely a world serious champion. I know that Ben analysts in Major League Baseball posted 97 90 ESPN and Hartford. Find this man on Twitter Rob Dibble, 49. Rob Dibble joins us on the show today, Rob, thanks for joining us friend. My pleasure. How are you doing? Very, very well. All right. Take me through this year now you played In an era. That definitely policed itself. Do you agree with Joe Kelly? Do you disagree with Joe Kelly? Because I find it hard, Not d own it. And maybe that makes me a beta male, Rob. But please take me through this. Well, it never got to that I was listening to. You know what you were saying? They picked me for this job and punished knows that we're guilty. In the players don't have police sport, but because the Astros were rewarded with Championship Ring trophy. The bonus. Ah and then their attitude this strange or the pandemic yet? You know that that was as obnoxious as anything that they did, you know, And so for Joe Kelly, he's the kinda guy that he Like myself. Not a lot of guys want to come out of the bullpen. Not a lot of starters, everyone police sport. It's usually the guys out of the bullpen that have to do a lot of dirty work and he went on and I don't think don't ever thrown above the shoulders. And he just drilled brakeman in the ribs. I guarantee right when we just won the first and break them wanted no part of that. You know, But then he comes back and he throws inside on Correa. And it's like, all right, well, now you're starting to, you know? 95 near the head kind of dangerous. Your point was made the first time but, you know, go back to Manfred. If he does his job, he doesn't give these guys immunity. None of the players are going to have to retaliate. And you haven't seen the last of the Oakland A's. Will probably attack the Astros a lot of other teams, but the guys don't want to do it. You know, I coached a lot of guys because pro guys work out with them in the office that I have a place in Connecticut. And that's not their way. They're they're not old school like I was. I was brought up like Pete Rose told me to knock somebody down and act down. But in question where it was coming from. I figured they had a good reason for it, So it's a little bit different now where these guys have media. They're a lot more highly with each other. We didn't have interleague play, so we kind of despise the other lied all the time. And that's just the way we went about our business. It's a totally different business. Atmosphere today where you're rewarded for being a cheater. Look at how they treat a rod. A rod like a king. You know, Jim cranes talking about, you know, giving advice to a rod? A rod might be ableto find met. So you know that's that's the generation that we live in that you're rewarded for being a cheat. You rewarded her, You know, cheating. Yours are old guys in the union would think that that was a human wreck. Back in the strike in 94. I can't even imagine guys that would kind of pulling over on all these guys that are waiting for the same thing and that that's the worst part about the Astros. Is that a lot of the case? They had no problem eating. The fellow players appears and you know they weren't punished Sport. Oh, and I made no mistake about it. Rob Rob double joining us on the show. This is a man who played so I'm sharing opinions with a man who was actually up there on the mound and certainly see six a lot different from May I This is the beauty doing radio. Rob, I don't have to say I don't have to try to act like I'm drawn it down the line. I'm a fan. I hate the Astros. Okay, I hate him. And I was upset by what I saw. I thought it was agreed. Just like I get it like it's pro sports. If somebody's leaving their guard down, and I don't take advantage of it. You could say that I'm not doing my job. Either way, That's fine. It happens. But this this I mean, we're talking about banging trash hands like Oscar the grouch and bringing electronics into this. This is really silly. Let me throw another thing at you, though. It's almost conspiratorial. We're putting a lot of brain blame on Manfred and rightfully so. You would be putting blame on owners because he does work for his boss is the bosses of the owners, and I still think you know a lot owners if you want to take away a world series or or really put a penalty on the Astros. Yeah. Jim Crane That could happen to him. But I think a lot owners going. Yeah. I don't know if I want you looking in my closet for something like this. No, I agree. Listen, here's how the whole technology thing happened. It was Mohr with Rob Manfred. The owners want to speed up the game by five minutes. So then you put in the replay rooms. Then you actually show that we have the technology and I have a lot of friends that are in the police in the military, and it's no longer facial recognition. It's activity recognition, so like you're able to, you know, recover. Like the guy's pitches and sequences and so the second at bat Now you could go well, Hey, you know, let's just flip it around a Verlander. Justin Roland er every time he gets Two strikes on somebody throws a changeup on the inner half. They knew that that that that was the pattern recognition technology that they were using, but that was given to them by Major League Baseball. So, Yeah, There's a lot of culpability with the owner's Manfred the teams for using it, And that's exactly what the Red Sox did The Red Sox. They did it a different way. They were used in that replay booth. Going in there. Being able to figure out sequences and locations. Having a pattern going out the second base, looking towards center field, looking towards right field, looking toward left field is very intricate. And how subtle it wass. And so in my day, a guy would put his left hand towards her bag and that it was going to be on that side of the plate for location, and our guys might look towards third base or even do a hand signal towards third base, and that's the location. The pitch. And you get one close to the head. If you were going to do that kind of crap is that to me was underhanded and normal, Healthy, got suspended for a week for throwing up Mike Social for doing that crap when we played Dodgers So guys kind of shied away from giving location. Trying to give pitches and stuff like that. Just because you know there was a fear affected. There's no longer fear factor. You know, nobody retaliates anymore because nobody really cares that because, like you said, Everybody's probably doing it, so I don't just think outside doing it. They said 10 teams were investigated for Syrians. They wanted not Bree. Shame on the entire game. I don't believe that for a second, the Yankees were using Some kind of apple watch technology, you know, And if you you know some of my friends that I talk about this all the time, you could take the buzzer out of an iPhone..

"The most outrageous part is that Joe Kelly got an eight-game suspension. Remember that's during a 60 Game season. So a games out of a 60 Game season is an astronomically gigantic big suspension for what happened really seemed very very much overblown. It's a big chunk of the year. And everybody keeps saying that the MLB did this to send a message to other teams. Hey do not mess with the Houston Astros. It's so frustrating. I understand that I actually don't understand baseball. Why are you doing this? I am so I'm trying so very hard to like the MLB. I'm So Into I love the sport of baseball. I really enjoy baseball has some incredible moments, but the MLB wage right now in baseball are not exactly the same thing and I'm really struggling with MLB Major League Baseball, man, they're doing so many things right but my biggest issue with the MLB recently was that none of the Astros players who cheated got punished and so now not only were none of the Astros players were involved in cheating. Not only were they not punished phone. Now, the MLB is actively protecting those players. And this is what happens in my opinion if the league doesn't punish them then opposing teams are going to take it into their own hands and do what they can to punish them their way and it really took is is the Injustice of this entire situation the Injustice bothers me. It's not only that but some small part of me admit the part of me that looks at Joe Kelly and what he's doing his taunting and his his audacity really the small part of me that likes Joe Kelly Smith wants controversy. Makes me go I I like this. like watching the astral suffer. I like watching Joe Kelly. Taunt them again. I felt like Joe Kelly was kind of a hero because he was acting towards Astros the way I feel towards the Astros. They're cheaters. The Houston Astros are cheaters and they got off scot-free. No punishment that the the organization got punished Sheriff. The players did not nothing happened to the players. And so if you strike them out, yeah rub it in their face a little bit again the little small dark part of me. I enjoy it..

I had an incredible though Incredible Jersey Blowout, which everybody knows is like Pauly D Blow it now, But by that point, I'd already played soccer with a bunch of kids from New Jersey. So I saw that haircut and I believe what God he growing up, Gotti. Those kids were on TV. One of our high school. Dale had that hair. I was like I could pull off at her doing for prom turns out I could not poor might not have been me. It might have been barber. But the white tux with that was a rough look for us, but thinks it was a moment we never forget. And those photos will look back on. I believe digs. You sent the photo over to Zito so they'll probably pop up on the screen here in a second, but there's a lot of sports to talk about it. There are a lot of things in the sports world. I found my new favorite baseball player. Yeah. Hey, look how thin I wasn't that boy. What was that doing in there? I don't get that pin. I thought I was pretty thick in high saddle is you were too by the look of thin you were I remember you being a little thicker? I thought 1 85 Wow. £20 ago for you. Those pants is looking up. Hey, that's a digs paradise right there, innit? Yeah. Back. No way. Oh, yeah. What a moment for a country That was after trying a Pittsburgh You don't know when that sun's going, But a palm trees make you feel like you're on vacation, baby. That's awesome. Joe Kelly is my new favorite baseball player by far Now the mayor Sean Casey, obviously Ogi, Kevin, you you also one of my favorites, like those guys are up there because they've come on the show when a lot of other professional baseball players have not come on the show, So I immediately have bias and say, like those guys because they've come on the show, and they get the show and they watched the show. I think So when they come on the banter is always better with people who know what's going on. Like Urlacher, For instance, Urlacher watches either clips of the show or knows the show a little bit. So when he comes on and just starts going after people it's like that is somebody that knows the show like I like that, Ah lot. But now this Joe Kelly character after this offseason, he was practicing a pitch of his house. This is during quarantine. Nobody knew whether or not baseball is going to come back. The thought was maybe the bubble in Arizona. The bubble in Florida in the baseball players. Trevor Bauer. Also I like him. Oh, my God, I can't believe I forgot about Trevor Bauer. Power by Raj Can't believe I forgot about him. I like Trevor and this guy tied for my favorite baseball players. Let me go ahead and reiterate that Trevor Bar power. Our power outage is up there as number one as well. Any picture that will get upset, turn around and throw the ball over the center field wall is a guy that I want to be friends with speaking up this Joe Kelly character this offseason was practicing a new pitch, he said in his house and his backyard. And he misses this net. That might be 30 yards wide at this point, right? And you think professional baseball pitcher this guy's gonna be able to control where the hell that five on a piece of whatever is going? OK, You would always think that whenever I got into the batter's box for the Washington wild things for the first time in my entire life, facing off against a pitcher who was a professional picture at one point still is a professional pitcher was a professional picture at the same time drafted to the Brewers. Okay, drafted to the Brewers. I was scared to death. I felt like Henry Roman guard. I was like you don't Do I miss staying in the back corner and I'm going to that shrink thing where there's no strike zone, So I'm gonna try to get on that way or whatever. Then everybody told me. No, no, no, no, no, no. He's professionally knows where it's going. Okay? You'd be in a much worse spot. If you're in a drunk Baseball league with some picture in a strong arm had no idea what was going on. Then a video popped up a Joe Kelly and he misses this entire and breaks a window in his house. So this is This is awesome. Okay, I watched his video and I go my guy. This is like a golfer that shanks or shot and I see him hit two yards. I'm like my guy like that is something I could do. So then we fast forward, obviously to Joe Kelly of the Los Angeles dark Dodgers, formerly of the red socks, by the way, which have some question marks surrounding their morality as well. No, no, we are clear not were cleared. You're right. Okay. I'm so sorry. By the way, does not take away from my love for this guy. And he against the Astros. When all of a slot and wondered are the Astra is going to be punished for what happened. Pre quarantine because remember before quarantine before Tove in 19 came through important stranglehold on everything. There was spring training happening in Arizona for the Astros. And people are showing up with science in garbage cans in the crowd. There was security having to take the signs in the garbage cans and everything out of it. And that was going to be the normal now for the Houston Astros going forward because of the allegations and the things that came out about them cheating the win a World Series of Rob Manford saying, What am I gonna do? Take away the piece of metal in Russia scraping on a rug and then Okay. Oh, no fans heard about it. What do we do? Well, they're going to be pissed. Let's take away their signs at least and then covered comes through and in real life happens, Everybody RIA life happens. Not that the garbage can cheating scandal That kind of shocked the entire sports world wasn't real life, but real life came through for people. People were, you know, walked in their houses. People were getting sick people passing away. There was Then they became his entire political war That's happening between every single news site, never human on the Internet. It's just like the real one, and then the social injustice. And then the protest, which turned into some turned into riots with this, so everything kind of happened very quickly for the rest of the world for all of us to experience together. So in the sports world, you can't help but wonder like I wonder if the Houston Astros are watching us all like, thank God..

"People have been saying, you know, who cares if the Seahawks give up two first-round picks. I've heard that a lot because and I'll be honest. It's funny. It's not entirely true but it's kind of amiable funny thing really Seahawks are terrible at drafting in the first round again not entirely true. I want to break that down real quick on add some clarity to the situation. There are two factions that have formed in the wake of the Jamal Adams trade neither side's really right. Although I would say that maybe both sides are half right one side. Same battle cannot draft in the first round. Anyway, they're really bad at the often draft busts. That's one side the other side really disagrees and says the Seattle Seahawks should have kept the pics because their own now not going to have us go to players in the future. People say well the Seahawks are actually more solid than you would think drafting in the first round. And again, I think they're both half right? Cuz with most things in life, the honest answer was somewhat middle. There's two extremes and they're both kind of right but the truth is somewhere in the middle. So since 2010, these are the Seattle Seahawks first round picks. An offensive tackle Russell okung. They had safety Earl Thomas guard James Carpenter defense of and Bruce Irvin o linemen Germain ifedi running back Rashaad, Penny Packer defensive and LJ Collier and linebacker. Jordan. Brooks will be a rookie this year. He was drafted 27th overall in the first round in 2020. Now two of them really I would say the two best players. I just listed were drafted ten years ago to 1010 Russell okung and Earl Thomas again, ten years ago in two thousand two they were drafted. That's the last time the Seattle Seahawks have drafted a real true star player in the first round of the NFL draft now since then the rest of the first thought pics are just kind of middle-of-the-road starters at best. As a rookie last year LJ Collier had three tackles and three games. It's not that great. But hey, maybe he'll break out this year in a second-year Rashaad. Penny's a solid running back Germain ifedi. Is it consistent suggesting offensive?.

Anything else you want to discuss from the Kovic shutdown the the game last night anything. The I mean, the game last I expect every game to be like that I expect balls to be flying out of the park It's just a matter of if our. If Our pitchers on that day, decide that they want to Pitch well against these guys and and manage the the the amount of runs scored or if Boone wants to manage the runs scored or he wants to get more depth from guy, those will be the decisions that could possibly factor into a loss. How how long a guy is out there because they need him to stretch out a little bit more and then giving up runs. And if the Yankees can on that given day, connect enough bats to ball to to score eight runs. Confident. So you've obviously seen this latest Yankees cheating acquisition accusations yet. I message the guy who was reporting it and he answered me I wanted to come out who wanted to have him on the podcast and he answered me and he said I need to check with my team. To find out if it's okay but he never got back after that followed up. Wonder who is team is, but he's getting dragged through the mud on like all these other reporters saying, no this was checked by the League multiple. Times. The apparently the league looked into it in two, thousand, eighteen, an two, thousand and nineteen and found nothing with this with this incident but. The Astros clearly just want someone else to have the heat. Right. The Astros are looking for somebody else to take the heat right now and I think that's what this is. Yet the. Because he keeps saying I have sources, sources, MLB sources, his sources if I had to guess Michael Moore Schwab is the guy. Right. Yeah. I had to guess his sources or the personnel who are still bitter in the Astros who were fired probably whether it's now or it's the WHO's the second in command there that got that got can't who was just total, asshole yeah. I forgot his name for good reason. So that's who I would guess his sources are. But obviously, I would ask if he came on the podcast and. Do like Randy Johnson John Crock like some sort of send a message to Bregman the Korea one of his three Oh pitch wasn't it? What the Break Ya? Yeah. Korea. You just don't throw a slider at somebody you just don't do that. What's the point? So I I do like I like I like the bucking back. I like the talking I don't really understand how any of the Astros can say anything I don I mean. Because they are totally numb. You get thrown at in the batter's box you gotta stand up she sure but and also he was mocking I made the faces he was career legal. Favor part was after he hit career the first time got the ball back and turned around and was yawning thousand feet. He's like just yawning like he's like a sick of being here like. What next beyond a little bit ease a little bit of a psychopathic Kelly? Yeah. He's nuts I'm okay with that though. Team I'm fine. So there was a quote from dusty Baker a any said it was actually really funny dusty Baker after the game. What really enraged everybody was what he told. Carlos. Correa when he struck them out nice swing bitch. Can picture dusty Baker chewing on a toothpick. So calm like what kind of Shit that I get. In here what all this happened toothpick out nice. To Like. It's a cigar terrific decade Yeah. No I like I like it. I'm glad I e need. There needs to be more of it. Honestly these guys get off so easy. It pisses me off. Yeah but. Yeah you're talking about the suspension because that's ridiculous I mean eight games. It's what does I wrote down thirteen percent of the season that's a massive suspension. They treated it a games as what he would have gotten a one sixty two. Yeah. It makes no sense. What are we doing? These guys are walking around after agreed cheating and stealing stealing a world series championship, but you can't see. I can't can't I. You you can baseball's not though because this is how baseball's taking it. While the Astros were already punished for what they did. Now, we have to punish for this initial instance on Joe, Kelley and what they're trying to impress. They're trying to set a precedent because you know what they don't want this year bench clearing brawls and people getting corona virus because their face to face fighting on the YOU'RE GONNA get it. Doesn't get it make it that way. Okay but listen I know the suspension is critic Marlins play the Astros this you're. Probably not but if they did send them a car not either not WANNA. beat the shit out of the Astros physically on the field. What, what's the worst team in the in the Western divisions? Is it? Is it the the the mariners? The giants giants yes and the giants in Strip club might before. Kamikaze Astros. Someone's thrown at them, and then there's just a Bra. Can we do that on like game fifty eight?.

Are you know they're they're lax with it but maybe this is a wakeup call, right? Maybe this he has. To Go to strip clubs. No. But maybe this marlins thing is actually going to turn out to be a good thing for the league in the sense that every team is like Oh Shit Waco Paul, we dodged a bullet here we can't mess up. Yeah I WANNA. Get paid guys don't go out to the Strip clubs. I. Want to get all. That's another thing. The marlins aren't going to get paid for these games missed the the Phillies, the Yankees and the Orioles are going to get paid, but the marlins might not. So it's Sorta like punishment there I mean I think that's. Kind of unfair but at the same time to. I mean when you see what happened and how it all comes back to go to a strip club and David Price. So I wanNA talk about David. Price is tweet I'm assuming you saw this he said now we really get to see if MLB is going to players health. I, remember when man for said, players health was paramount in all caps part of the season part of the reason I'm at home right now is because players health wasn't being put I. I can see that hasn't changed on the one hand he's right on the other hand. They got it because they went to a strip club. Dude. How is that? The League's fault right. Well. I mean I think if he's he's talking about you know the end result and there are. Guys were infected. So now what so what what I think? He's all God is the fact that you could. We could cry how it happened but the fact is that it did happen now tear now what will his where I grew with him is they got four positive results on Saturday they had a team meeting on Sunday and as a team decided. "We heard after the game. Here's Joe Kelly as he did speak vaguely about the pitch that led to the benches, clearing everything that we saw last night. It was a ball obviously. Was my best pitch Foreign Waterman. Never going to put a guy on his game, so somebody with the greatest most comfortable while on among cads Yeah. You didn't. Just miss I know why you have to say that in the moment because then you could risk a suspension ended up getting one anyway. I would appreciate when people do something intentionally. They just come on out and go. Yeah, I meant to hit him. They're a bunch of cheaters. So be it. You would have a little bit more respect for Joe Kelly. But you could also understand that he's not gonna be able to say that because then if he got a naked suspension for saying it was unintentional, imagine if he said It was intentional. Let's hear Dusty Baker. This is the Astros manager talking about it wasn't pleased with Kelly's pitches and also annoyed that the umpires to really raised everybody's told Carlos on the chuck him out. Nice to see you supposed to do the Empire's warned us. You know, Once you warn him one ball, you know, he's the one that started this mess in the first place. I'll give credit to Dusty Baker. He's right for bringing up that point that the umpires warned the Astros It makes no sense. But why? I warned the actors in that spot. They didn't throw out anyone. But they didn't want retaliation because you already saw the benches clear once. I go back. I remember when you had the whole Chase Utley situation. Where he had a dirty slide in the postseason. And it broke. I want to say Ruben, two hottest leg a bit, and I think it was just like, Oh, that he broke and the next time the Mets and the Dodgers squared up in the regular season, Noah Syndergaard through behind Chase Utley. And the umpires through Syndergaard out of the game, and that led to the infamous Terry Collins yelling at the umpire and the umpire saying our asses are in the jackpot, you know that, Terry And Kerry Collins said. Major League Baseball did nothing to that guy. We got to get our shot. He's foaming at the mouth to get this great audio on with how wacky and stupid Major League baseball is. They tried to scrub that video from the Internet. Yeah, that that's like another situation where the umpires ruined it. The umpires didn't need to warn the Astros and the umpire should not have thrown Noah Syndergaard out of the game that night. Finally, I'll give you one more. Here's Astro starting pitcher Lance McCullers. He winds about Joe Kelly's unprofessionalism from the game last night. Joe Kelly threw a ball behind Bergman's head on three now on purpose, not only to, you know, take it upon himself. You know, I guess Cindy message, but it was even part of the team during that season. You know, we knew coming into the game that he likes to go off script. So it is what it is. It was done professionally. What do you have to be punched out? Career was unprofessional. Bringing the dugout was unprofessional. So it is what it is. We're here to play baseball. Just wanna win. So he wasn't on that Dodgers team in 2017 but he was still baseball player. Major League baseball. The Astros shouldn't be shocked that something like this happens, You could be upset with the ball going by someone said that shouldn't happen had done thing should not happen, but to be like all annoyed about And like they come off a shot that they got thrown at. You know that this was gonna happen? We saw it happen in spring training. So will it continue to happen in the future? Eight game suspension may make some players think twice, but there will be at least a player, too. That doesn't like to pick a spot to throw out the Houston Astros again. Zach help show CBS Sports Radio will break We'll come on back Lamar Jackson talks about Mr Big Chess. Antonio Brown will play that audio next first up, though, with.

"I gave you a little bit of my reaction to will Middlebrooks. This is the way that I feel about it. The Bregman 30 situation. It was a fastball at 96 miles an hour. They're up three. No one's on. You got one out. To throw at his head. It's criminal. Joe Kelly should not have thrown at his head. I'm not the big advocate for retaliation, Retaliation retaliation, but we know that's goingto happen this year. Kelly, where he messed up was he threw a pitch that fast at someone's head. You should never head on. So if on the Astros I would be annoyed about that, you put it in, you know, in the back or a thigh. That's a little bit different, but to throw it someone's head even though he didn't hit him. That's a bad job by Joe Kelly eventually later on that inning. I think it was when Brantley God you made out Or maybe it's a field of choice. Something happened. But Brantley was the guy at first base and Dusty Baker yells. Hey! Little bleep, er get back on the mouth, which may be that does escalate the situation because you do have a hothead in Joe Kelly. Maybe that does escalate the situation with that being said, though, Remember Dusty Baker wasn't there. He's been around the game for a long time. He's going to protect his guys and he knows That the Bregman situation was intentional. When we get Teo the Carlos Correa at that That's an off speed pitch. I guess you could say it's intentional. In the moment, though you have to out I believe runners were on first and second, it's an off speed pitch. He had no control of his offspeed pitch. Joe Kelly for the majority of that inning. I would say that was unintentional. The part I still don't get it. Is how it escalated even further walking off the mountain. Because if you're Correa just take the verbal abuse I get But for Joe Kelly, Yeah, he's pumped up. He's saying a few things. Did he take it too far? If you want to say that, sure. I didn't think though we needed to see a a benches clearing That was ridiculous. That was silly. So what? In Major league baseball do today? They come down. They come down Hard on Joe Kelly eight games. This was over 162 game season. We're talking about with well. 22 games. You're not getting 22 games. You didn't even hit the guy. Now there's intent, but you didn't hit Bregman. So that they can suspension over 60 games is very significant. It's probably eight. At eight game suspension over 1 62 as well. With all that being said, Though Major league baseball I don't think they should have suspended Joe Kelly. If you want to go a game. All right, but the optics are terrible. Because people are going to say the Astros even though they were offered immunity. They got no games for cheating, and Joe Kelly gets eight games which will eventually get reduced for throwing at someone and he didn't even hit him. So that's a message to me from Major league baseball. Two things one Don't have the Astros. We don't want to see it and the other is the message of the benches cleared. We have to hold someone accountable. It could have went and could have gone to a lot worse and we don't want to see a brawl a melee. During the Corona virus pandemic boomer imploring people to stay six feet away from one another. Let me get you a little audio from last night. We'll play some of the best sounds that we heard after the game. Here's Joe Kelly as he did speak vaguely about the pitch that led to the benches, clearing everything that we saw last night..

Career strikes out and the ultimate burn is that he's able to throw at his head and strike him out. Now career has taken off his little You know his little batting gloves in his helmet, and he and Kelly Kelly's walking off the mountain. Kelly does the all time like 4th 5th grade. "Sort it's just normal baseball that's normal baseball things running but here in these two cases with the managers it seems like they purposefully chose to go with their gut they chose to make these moves that were really unconventional that you would never do the regular season and that there was no structural benefit or structural reason about the postseason that you would do it and yet they did they a- We actually saw both of these managers change their behavior because of the situation and so the notion of shocking coming up the clutch for players which I don't have a hard time with seems like those may be loaded words and maybe not the right words the most accurate or specific words but the the the sort of idea behind them seems to be what caused those moves that managers that managers than elves actually do get affected by the situation and make moves for no other reason than the stakes are high in they're going with their gut in leads them to weird places and I wonder if that's a way of thinking about Dave Robertson Joe Kelley leaving Joe Kelley enemy there was it felt like there was just a lot of gut work going on there yes and by the way leaving him for for how he Kendrick which was obviously freight adding it seemed like a crazy move in a lot of ways and it worked out really really really really badly but maybe then you would so say that he got sort of roped into sticking with Joe Kelly is now he's thinking about getting the ground ball and Joe Kelly's the better ground ball pitcher and there were maybe not would solutions there but then he kept on Joe Kellyanne so at some point along the way it feels like Dave Roberts just made a move because the postseason there's something about the postseason that was maybe clouding his decision making or or causing him to to think like what this is this is too important I want to go against my instincts and so he went with his instincts and now is the disaster was yeah and I'm looking at kid Rosenthal's article today which is titled Dave Roberts Meet Grady Little but I am also looking at a report from for Hey Castio of Los Angeles times who says that Dave Roberts will remain the dodgers manager in twenty twenty according to a couple of sources so that is the seemed to just about everyone it looks like he's going to be back he has a lot of lives it's tough for Roberts because a friend of mine dodger Fan Texas may saying like He likes Dave Roberts in the regular season but he makes crazy pitching moves in the postseason and every manager makes crazy pitching moves postseason like they all do it they all have to do it they also choose to do it they all have crazy pitching moves and the we remember the ones that don't work out which is kind of like a banal thing and to say but with Dave Roberts by managing deep into the postseason every year he has to make even more he has to just keep making easy pitching moves because that's the nature of the postseason until one doesn't work out and then like fat tends to end the season for him and so he gets remembered for them I don't know if you if there was some way of counting up all crazy pitching moves that every postseason manager does has to do controversial moves debatable moves in seeing whether Roberts makes I dunno more crazy moves or that a greater percentage failure workout or something but yeah I mean he's made a bunch of crazy moves that that worked too so I'm not surprised that he's coming back I thought he would come back but I guess at this point I wouldn't have been surprised either way yeah will what you were saying about questions sir whatever we want to call it that is one way that people define it it's not that you've perform so much better in these situations than you do usually it's just that you don't let those situations disrupt you and get you away from whatever you normally do so I guess that would be a case of a manager instead of making the move he might make in May not that you would want to handle your bullpen the way that you do in a typical regular season game either it's like a hybrid of the two sort of where you do want to be ultra aggressive in that situation and go with your best players for as long as possible but that's not really what he right so I don't know what that was but maybe it was a one time only event last thing when matches are was running out of the bullpen celebrate the final out you guys mentioned that great giftable image of matches or running out of the bullpen to celebrate the final and Scher runs like ten steps in the turns around and is like looking to see anybody's behind him did you have a moment thinking about the time that Max Scherzer celebrated a walk off too early out of it was it was a walk off he thought it was a walk it was yeah yeah and the fact that the bats Max I wondered whether Max got eight steps out and thought wait a minute was how many outs were there or what is are we in but that's
