Evel Knievel: Ramping Up To Glory
"Knievel Oh is one of the most iconic names of the twentieth century. There's a reason that people are still being compared to him nearly forty years after his last jump he rubbed elbows with Hollywood's greatest performed stunts. No one thought were possible. And pioneered the whole subject of stunting known as action sports which has blossomed into a multi multi billion dollar industry. Pretty much all of my favorite people of my childhood odor career to able able. Yeah I think we should preface this by saying most of our sources were just documentaries because there's a million documentaries on him The biggest one being being evil By Dick House House productions who did jackass a really good documentary She go check it out. After this absolutely I watched last night it is really good. Check it out on or wherever you can find it all right so Knievel performed over seventy five motorcycle jumps over his career. Most most of which were successful. Some were catastrophically unsuccessful. Many were on bikes. That weighed close to five hundred pounds. Most of the CAR Harley Davidsons. Yeah he loved Harley he he had a triumph Bonneville He actually started selling Honda motorcycles. which will get into? But I think that's crazy because Jeff I mean Jeremiah's motorcycle rider and he's like yeah it's like like motorcross jump. Bikes are like two hundred. Two hundred twenty pounds. He's jumping bike. That's three hundred pounds more than that. What's an an animal that was five hundred pounds grill? It's like jumping a hundred Yeah so these motorcycles are flat track bikes. That were. We're not designed to jump. As Joe said he also broke many many bones in his body and spent a lot of time in the hospital and against all odds he lived to a He lived to sixty nine years old. Nice Nice Nice for more impressive than his death. Defying stunts was eagles ability to act as his own promoter. Heitmann and publicist He knew how to pump up the drama and get the crowd on their feet I think that's my favorite part out of the documentary. I didn't know that evil was. He's like a handsome guy he's super now and just so confident like oozing confidence in every interview he does I. I guess it makes sense that he was so good at that. Because I mean you got I think if you have the mindset of like hey I'm going to jump over thirteen buses or whatever you also have to the confidence and be like I'm GonNa tell people who watch my stuff but like I don't know like you you talk to like race car drivers today. They're definitely there's only a few that only a few that can talk at all. Yeah EXAC- nerd. Best Friends with her dad. So it was very interesting seeing Mister Knievel and Action Green Anaconda by the way five hundred pounds. Wow which surprised me more because I. That's a big thing that makes a big meat tube. Evils Charisma inspired a new generation of stunt people around the world. He was a natural showman. con artist and outlaw. But he wasn't always evil He was born Robert. Craig Knievel on October thirteenth. Nineteen thirty in Butte Montana. Butte at the time was a small rough town known for the two things mindful of copper and bars full of miners. Robert's parents Robert Senior and an knievel gave birth to his brother. Nick a year later. Then They divorced soon after his mother moved to Reno and his father moved to California leaving Robert in Nick in the hands of their grandparents day says reading more round Butte and there is like three thirty thousand people in the town but there are three thousand prostitutes will serve all the miners so literally one tenth of the population was prostitutes. That means ten guys. We're doing the same Gal. Well Ignatius and Ama- knievel. His grandparents showered the kids with love and affection. Filling in a much-needed Ignatius We haven't Ignatius at donut. Then we haven't Agnosio. Yeah but like that's that's kind of a Sam his grandparents bought the boys Bicycles and toys and took in the fairs when Robert was eight Ignatius. Emma took him in his brother to a daredevil show. That would forever change his life from that point on the Joey Chitwood thrill show was a traveling. Extravaganza sends like a rockabilly band. Joey Chitwood Joe. Joey Joey Chitwood trill show played at the fair there. I'm surprised he didn't have his own signature. peachy cours So this extravaganza that featured stunt driver Joey Chitwood J. Turns and driving on two wheels and what amounted amounted to be a giant commercial for Chevrolet What really interested Young Kyu knievel? was the motorcycle stunts. Riders would smash new flaming boards at high speeds. They do we lease and jumped through flaming hoops. This show sparks something in Robert. In his words I would go home and take defenders of my bicycle and put clothes pins in cards so it sound like motorcycle. That was the start of his lifelong obsession with motorcycles. And

"Hey, what's up what's going on BTM tribe? Durell Elliot here and welcome to the new year. Welcome to twenty nineteen welcome to your year of victory of prosperity of success of enlightenment of abundance of joy of peace of prosperity, essay prosperity already. Well, double prosperity. So I want to start this episode off by telling you that I'm done. I am quitting. Yes. You heard me. Right. I'm quitting. I am no longer doing things certain things and the things that I'm no longer doing. Maybe a surprise to you may come in as a shocker to you. But it's necessary. So guys there are few things hearing twenty nineteen today actually that I am quitting. I am no longer doing, and this is primarily because of the lessons that I've learned in two thousand eighteen so we're going to go over these lessons. We're going to talk about these. Lessons. We're going to talk about the things that I'm quitting. So that you're well aware and that so maybe you can take some of these tidbits and apply to your life. But before we get into that. I want to do a few things. I wanna I talk about some of the books that I've read in the past year, and I've read about forty books four zero forty books in two thousand eighteen and I've created a top three list my top three favorite books from the past year. And here they are book number one is called the code of the extraordinary mind, and this book is by vision, lacking AMI this book is not going to sugarcoat anything. I mean, it's no fluff. It straight to the point. And it's going to lay out what successful people are doing that makes them so extra ordinary highly recommended the second of my top three books from twenty eighteen is called the Gober. When this book is about a man named Joe Joey struggling to meet his quota every month. He's struggling to meet his sales target every month. So he finds a mentor his mentors. Nameless Pindar and. Pindar teaches Joe the five laws of stratospheric success. So throughout the book, Joe was gonna meet five different people, and these different people have mastered each of these laws, and they're gonna walk him through h law. And when and where they were able to master that law in help him a pie in his during. So an example law. The first law is the law of value. Now, this book is called the go giver, so as mostly predicated on what you can do for others till the law of value law. Number one is your true worth is determined by how much more you given value than you take in payment law. Number three is the law of influence. Your influences determined by how abundantly you place other people's interests. I in law number five again because I'm not going to give you guys the whole book. I want you guys to go read the book and law number five is the law of receptivity this law states that the key to affected giving is always staying open to receiving please go pick up that book today book number three and this book, I actually just. Got done reading today, and at the time of this recording which I am recording on January first of twenty nineteen. I just got done reading this book is called the twelve week year, and it's more. So giving me a blueprint on my outlook for twenty nineteen. So my goals are going to be condensed into a twelve week year rather than stretching them out so far to where it sometimes it's not even conceivable in the mind, and that's exactly what this book teaches you. How to do? Those are my top three books and they'll all being the shots. Now in twenty eighteen you'll realize that theme on this podcast because I mean, even in twenty seventeen now if you've been listening to this podcast for any length of time, then you know, that my number one goal in two thousand eighteen west to help in any capacity that I could as many people that I could purchase their first investment property. Get their first real estate transaction done. No matter how big or little it is get that first transaction done because I. I know how powerful snowball effect is. So twenty eighteen that was my number one goal. And those of you that have been listening and had been tuning in for quite a while. Now, you'll see that the themes change your ear. I mean in twenty seventeen the theme of this podcast, go back in the archives. The theme of this podcast was passive income..

"But that wasn't the reason, but it on my radar, but I will give him this. He owns the NFL record for field goal distance kick sixty five yarder. Six four yards something like that. And through a beautiful touchdown pass against the Packers. Thirty one nothing win at Lambeau Field. Nothingburger game for Green Bay trail. Twenty-one zip in the second quarter lost Aaron Rodgers before halftime two concussion. Shook a nice way to go into the offseason for the lines in another ugly day for the Packers. The intrigue in this game was lost as soon as Aaron Rodgers left the game. But for those Packers fans wanna know what they have behind him. Well, they learned they don't have much in a form of Sean Kaiser who is pretty predictable in his performance. But yeah for the lions it was a great game. You know, it's not often. You get a kick or thrown a touchdown pass to former Atlanta Falcons tight end. And it was it was an enjoyable day and way go to the offseason for tumultuous season that has been met. Patricia. I tried her ma'am me, MS just to Sean Kaiser point net Brett Hundley. Yes. I know. And I know this game really doesn't mean anything for either team because Patricia likely safe in in the lions weren't going anywhere in the Packers or obviously eliminated. But Joe Joey fibs if he had any intentions of holding onto the job. This was not the way you want to go into the interview process for what it's worth it took me a moment to realize who you're talking about when you said joy fits. I'm just waiting. Mark was a one percent change. Right. Getting this job. Exactly. I'm still waiting for Mark to do as I told you so about zach's enters twenty one. Just struggling ears. I told you so over.

"Go to seven eleven. Dunkin donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. Joe miss it. When you weren't joking. Joe joey. Okay. Let's let's continue with our foreign transportation theme. Here's a van driver and his passengers. Slumped over in their vehicle. In the middle of a main road with the engine still running in Spain. I'm guessing it's a night of heavy drinking. Oh, it was. So this is again, this is the driver and his passengers innovation. What appears to be a work van because it has a ladder on the top of it. The job guys. There. Okay. This is the astonishing a drunken van driver was found asleep at the wheel of his vehicle in the middle in the middle of a busy main road. So to cyclists record the driver. Hey, the wonderful thing about these guys. They're just these guys in the vehicle are passed out. Yeah. Over out cold the guys on the bikes wearing their little praying mantis suits their helmets. They do that in Spain too. Oh, yeah. Yeah. They got the little praying mantis suit at the universal. I mean, let me tell you the dress code for cyclists is tighter than the dress code for Grateful Dead, fat Grateful Dead fans. Grateful Dead fans. You know, you gotta be aware that you cannot go to a Grateful Dead concert with like with a nice, blue button-down shirt and a sport coat. Okay. It's not gonna work you seen how they dress for these. Grateful Dead concerts. Right. Oh, yeah..

"What else did I need to bring up real quick before we get to the break. I know there was something. That's this my own fault. I was bad. I made all these great notes of things I was gonna talk about. And then I put them aside. Now, I've got my papers all mishmash, and I can't remember exactly what I was going talk about. Oh. Would they were playing that? This kind of promo for garden line, where it's my voice in the all this produced music and sound effects behind in and it mentions that you got to build it now. So they will come build the beds. It's never too late to do the right thing that was really intended to be played only in August. But if you just now hearing it and you're thinking, I'm gonna go build the beds fine. Do it be Bill the beds? Let I still think you should let it rest for a couple of weeks. Indepth matter if you using the best compost, the best soils out there, like let's use nature's way resources example. Okay. Some of the best compost some of the best soils once you still build a bed and excuse me. See the colds coming on once you build the beds. It's still such as whether you're doing landscape beds. Whether you're doing vegetable beds, whatever flowers when you're building raised beds. Sometimes it's still a great idea, and especially with vegetables and herbs to let it mellow for a couple of weeks, you keep it water me, you know, throw out some Medina soil activator on a newly raised bed, but find a way to make it mellow that way if there's any little pocket of compost that could be considered hot. It will cool down it will mellow. It's just a smart idea when you Bill beds, especially for vegetables to let it rest. Now, we talk about two parts Rosolino that piece to parts rose salt one part compost. Since I mentioned nature's way resources. I'll take that a step further there, bro soil. Is perfect on its own. It's has enough compost in it, the the really high end soils, and they're going to cost a little bit more. But the better soils like nature's way resources rose soil. You don't have to do to parcel one part compass you can. But you don't have to. So if you want to save a little bit of money, not have to add extra compost fun. But I would always tell you that even if you have what's considered really good row soil. That when you start a vegetable bed. It's still oak really smart idea to use compost as a mulch so your compost top dressing the vegetable bed. So you get the added benefit of the compost kind of working its way down into the soil, and you still get a bit of we'd protection that you're putting it out as a moult. So it's only you know, inter so thick and then that way it's not going to have any hot pockets known. I'm talking the talk the food Joe Joey is hot pockets, but you can put out that inch of compost three quarters inch competent as a March..

The ratings were down so now they're going to keep the, telecast to a snappy three hours. They're gonna ditch some of those boring awards for you know short feature film made in Afghanistan. All these things people care about and they're going to have a new award called popular, film. So here to discuss all this, get, his. Take on, it is w. o.. R. movie, man. Joe knew my are. Good morning Joe Joey, so yeah this whole Oscar thing I mean right the ratings are down here's the problem though with naming a best popular film than are you then saying the film? That, gets best picture is unpopular because that's sort of becomes what it is right by default well a, lot of the movies last year that. Were nominated only three people saw, classically three people all but the this is the problem though, when they about ten years ago remember when they they added five, more Best patron because of the dark Knight the. Big thing oh my God the dark nights not nominee for best picture so in response, to. That they added the which for, the, first. Time since, the the forty s. Since like, nineteen. Forty two it had. Been five best picture, nominees now this time they ended up to ten but you still get things like avatars in there obviously get out last year was in there this year the Black? Panther, movie and get out I mean and a quiet place would absolutely have been put into the best, picture nomination slot no question but because. Now they want to make sure, that these popular, movies get in there They've added, this, thing best popular film there's a there's a bit, of a conspiracy theorist you this though. The conspiracy, theory is that ABC which has been airing the Oscars since the seventies and briefly, in the. Sixties wants to make sure that their superhero movies in there because Disney owns ABC Gene. Reagan is a little bit of. A conspiracy theory thing here that they. Want to, make sure that they get like a best best, superhero. Movie kind of thing I don't know if this is what's going on but the reality is that the the backlash against is huge I don't like it I think it's kind of stupid Someone's actually going to go. Up there and say. And the winner is ant man That's right there's, a possibility of that or even if it's not a Disney or or. Marvel movie, it's like, the Meg which is coming out. This week best shark movie I mean you know this is the ridiculousness of this I think it's stupid because, the turns the people's choice awards This Best kiss best. Fight you, know best best tumble over a train. Track I, mean it's it because it turns the Oscars into into everything that there really shouldn't. Be they should be a regal. Event I've been saying this for a long. Time they should make the Oscars as old fashioned. Class. Exactly In the. Fifties More. Streakers that's right.
