"I mean for for those that are sort of looking for the types of this. I think i play the second quarter the vertical row shop while on the right side line. I think flacco puts this at a decent spot. You know because the covers from john williams. The patriots quarter is pretty good. Smith doesn't have him beat over the tall vertically so you have to sort of turn it into a back shoulder throw and that's kind of what he does that i think smith is right like he doesn't get his eyes turned around quickly enough. You know the pass is almost on him like he's looking at it. Not like the forty yard line. The new england forty the passes like a third of the forty five. So it's almost five yards away. He's still looking down field so he sort of turns reacts late to it. he's still the process of twisted around when the ball is sort of on him. Which baited really tough catch. And that gets to what we were talking about ratio the like chemistry. The wraps the feel for that back shoulder throw. It's such a feel throw for both receiver a quarterback. I've been on both ends of that again. I was the worst backup quarterback off college football so take this with all that context that you need there but haven't been on both ends of that like it's a time it'd rhythm night you gotta went to turn us the receiver. You're gonna have a good feel for one year. Receivers gonna turn as a quarterback. I think flacco puts it in a relatively good spot. Adjustment is good generally but it just needs to be quicker. It gets to the like these guys need to be on the same page to be able to pull that off. I'll be look. Devante was wide. Open all gate lawn. i said you. A clip of the hamburg not slant route against you on williams at the tasmanian devil. He's spun in circles look This was a time and rhythm play. And they don't have the time to rhythm down and that maybe that's the expected with a backup quarterback who got inserted right before kickoff for everybody was worried about devante smith like don't worry don't worry like if eagles fan is still worried about autism. Like dog like mad. He looked so good there's and then he was only at like four times in. He completed his passes twice. But this is against this with joe flacco as the road. So yes imagine if i was playing exactly and the other to keep it alive with cbs's just because they're not getting targeted doesn't mean they're not hope like the play i sent you. He wasn't targeted but he was wide open. There are other times that he was like wide open and he just wants to get the ball for whatever reason so somebody that liked smith covet out. Like you've gotta be excited about. We saw from another one. That i thought good as well on a flak behalf. This new is about one one minute and fifty six seconds to go in the second quarter it was third and fourth in. You see. this is the play where he all. He c- kenny gain. Well though in motion and devante smith takes off. Sam kinda like plant his foot. It was like a really nice. Lou was all over social media. And he kind of liked jerks right senator From the vendor so he did a great job creating separation and joe flacco. I think he did a really good job of patiently waiting for smith to come back before in the past if he connect for that once. I thought that was a really nice one. On mucus they were in sync in the timing. Was there like he didn't rush heated force. It like some other plays that. I'm going to bring up but this one i thought was was pretty. Good yeah this is. This is a great example ratio. This is nice pivot route from divonne-les-bains because it's where you started side of a sled at break back to the outside a lot of teams run this. It's sort of quick change of direction stuff that a lot of teams are getting out of wide. Receivers runs the route perfectly. I mean the separation. He gets work against you. Know the corner jackson here who a lot of patriots people believe might win a roster spot. This isn't some guy that's gonna be cut. Come you know. cut down day. He just gets like six yards separation on a one yard route basically. I mean it's just insane and the time it is impressive especially show fico gets pressured year from clean pocket interior. The pocket sort of breaks down. He's got guys at his face so he has to flush to his right into do that. It's still make this throw like on time. It rhythm to give devante with a chance to let get yardage after the catch. I think it's pretty impressive. This is a great clip. I'm glad you picked it. It's a really nice play from both receiver in quarterback here at again smith this mukherjee stashed. It is like what's crazy about it. Is he cuts inside on the sleds jackson's to yards behind him. He stops in changes. Directions jackson keeps go it. It's like again. I'm old but topgun right like you remember talk. God would like maverick. Tom cruise hits the brakes with the other plane. Goes like flying right by again. That's what this is like. Yeah i like that comparison. If i have brought up maverick and topgun way too many times. I even wrote a piece last year. Compared carson wentz to tom cruise character in that movie which aged incredibly well. I guess i'm gonna go watch bus ratio. You gotta get ready for the new one because the new top gun movies coming out later this fall so that would be my homework. I'm gonna watch the original top gun the original that you're ready to your homework ratio okay. I'm i'm gonna do that. Actually why you were talking about like pocket pressure. I found a play that i thought was bad. On joe flacco behalf. It was forty five seconds left in the first half. They decided to go for the fourth down and it was forfeit four in dumb. He intends to pass. It was a short left pass to jalen rigor. And you could tell that the pocket it was starting to crumble a little bit joe. Flacco starts to panic like he just forces the ball. And how i was looking at the play i definitely saw. The defender was clearly standing right in front of raider so i don't know why he would force that. In my opinion it was deflected and it was intercepted by harvey langi. Yup i mean this. This was a predetermined throw forth to threat of trying to throw in a little stop. Hitch route again. It's very much like time in play right age. Similar that back shoulder play in that the ball has to get out and it has to be on the receiver and it has to be put in the right place..

"Mark scofield. Was you do well ratio. It's great to be back with you. thank you for the kind detroit. Obviously i've just here along for the ride because you're the great fabulous host of this show and i'm just kinda tag along we. We talked before the show. But we're going to talk about Song very excited to dive into. We're going to dive at you. I do have not sawn lyrics. More song titles ashley have to and this will probably be a running theme of this. Show just be highlighted. How old i am. The first is from bob. Seger sawed turn the page. That's just the title that's all you need to the page. Because that's really what i'm ready to do. After last week against gets doing patriots just turned the page but then the other is from the late. great. Tom petty into the great wide open. Because i felt like the dismiss was wide open a lot and that was very nice to see. So those are my son lyrics. they're more song. Titles again highlighted. The fact that. I'm pretty old. But they're relevant morale diario which good say. Yeah i like. It was very nice very nice kind of like similar to what i have. I just chose lyrics from. Ti has a song featuring chris brown in his called get back up and the lyrics say and when they put you down you gotta get back up rushed than dirt off your shoulder. They are the cup or the trophy. Or the ringed. Your champion no matter. What so pretty self explanatory. I think we're all trying to put last week's game behind us it was really ugly and Like some people said probably one of worst preseason games. We've ever had wasn't good. It wasn't good. And i'm saying this as a patriots guy was still wasn't good now. It's one of those games. I remember like a in college. We would have a bad game or coach would literally light take the game tape like bury it and just like we're gonna forget about that. It's this kind of one of days. Yeah in like i mean. What can we expect I think it was definitely a surprise to allies. I had talked about this before we started recording. I don't really wanna touch too much on. Jalen hurts because it's old news at this point but we all know what happened. He got scratched right before the game started in left us with joe flacco who were being completely honest. Hasn't had a lot of reps brown with like devante sniff and a lot of starting receivers. So what could we expect from him in his performance knowing that. He's not really getting time to build chemistry with them right. Yeah and at the same time though. Does that worry you a bit. Because i remember sitting here last week and say oh great that. They've got a veteran backup. He doesn't eat a lot of wraps and then that happened. So are we worried now about flaco a little bit. I think that should definitely be like a like. Oh the switch went off okay. Well based off of this performance if anything happens to jalen hurts now you guys see what we have so maybe he was start funneling flacco in a little bit more so that their prepare for the worst possible scenario like last week i mean it reminds me of that ted marchibroda quote when he was the offense coordinator for the indianapolis colts. They had paid men and that he was asked by a member of the media. Like why did you let the backup quarterback practice and he was like well. that's because of eighteen goes down. Were going to censor it here bleed. And we don't practice bleep at. It's kind of like okay. Well if one goes down this office at least on thursday night look fleet should. They may be practiced. Believed i don't know and now one thing i was kinda confused about okay. We know that most likely jalen hurts isn't going to play. We don't we don't know but most likely he might not play a lot in the week three crises season game and in the week to preseason game when deal her scratch they Took out a lot of the starters specifically offense of line. We saw them get removed. But don't they need Her as well too. So what was. That'll i'm starting to wonder you know. I'm curious what you think about this. If teams are just using the joint practices as more of like a time to get reps for people and they're just looking at preseason games like. Let's play the backups. And hope nobody gets hurt. You're seeing a lot of teams like daniel jones for the giants hasn't played yet. The preseason a lot of other quarterbacks happened played yet the preseason do we think the teams are just taking the joint practices. And say this is what we're gonna do. This is what we're going to guys. I don't remember some people last week. That said the eagles were the better team during joint practices into england. Seemed like that was the case. So do you think the teams are just said. All we wanna to do is get through these games. We don't want guys to get her is like they're not prioritized like the message. I'm getting is they. Don't really care. And i've been seeing a ladder discussion about joint practices in how maybe they should just In preseason games altogether in illness the joint practices if they're going to be more competitive practices. And i think that's kind of like a consensus was the point of the preceding aimed spread the fans watching israeli. No through to it. If we're not running starters or any like serious play we're seeing aubanel rate is going to bring light Why even have it was. The point of. I dunno i guess. The orders like having full stadiums but the stadiums aren't full. I mean like you said like ninety thousand people at you. Let stadium to see the patriots and third string quarterback brian hoyer so if the coaches are used the joint practices as more of the evaluation tool that maybe not tells us what what the future preseason games as any. I think one hundred percent rate. But i think we're going to dive right into i had hubble plays. I wanted to at go. Wanted to ask if you saw the same thing because all we have to look at is joe flacco. Start dealing with this. Your joe flacco. Show boys and girls let's divert. This is the joe flacco show. I like that So i have a couple of good in couple bad based off of or and one of the good that i had and you can tell me if you think it was good or not. I was looking at timing for this specific play and we know that he didn't get a lot of reps with devante smith. This specific play he targeted. Devante smith down the sideline. It was really nice pass but it was to a demonte isthmus back shoulder and this was one of the plays that devante smith dropped the ball. I thought it looked like a throw In the post game interview devante smith was talking about how he took the blame for that place specifically because he didn't get his is around quick enough from your perspective looking at this play. Did you feel like this was good. Like was it. Whackos fought devante dropped. Her bolt dropped the ball or was that a good pass. No it was a good throw..
Philadelphia Eagles sign QB Joe Flacco to baffling contract
"All these teams that i feel like or at least maybe all of them but some of them have gotten better and you're competing against all those teams to win the super bowl and the eagles are finding joe. Flacco like you have to compare what the eagles are doing to other teams in the league. I don't see how they're progressing at all. And i think other teams are getting better or at least you know if they're really good they're staying the same. Just don't get it jimmy. I ending every point with. I don't get it better matt on that. All well said all right point number seven years the play. They're going to tank lose a lot of games anyway. So that's good. It's it's bad because if go black the why would you pay him. Three point five million. Then if if that's the idea that he's gonna lose a lot of games to play. Then why would you. Why would you pay him anything like why would you even bring them in. So i don't get that just from that logical standpoint to begin with and the deal only gets worse if he plays probably because i'm guessing some of those incentives not necessarily the seven point five. But i'm going to guess like one point five. I'm going to say it's at least like five billion if he plays you know a reasonable amount of time then like you're watching this guy play. The team sucks presumably. And like it's only like the future of the team is only getting worse. I mean you might be losing games and that's good for a job pick but like you're losing money losing cap space that could be rolled over the next year. You're wasting your lighting it on fire to watch joe flacco play. Who isn't even like an entertaining player. Right it's not like they signed a guy who is bad but like he can kind of do some things and leg. It's of fun bad. It's just like a very boring aesthetically unpleasing. What's hey great. Fit for the eagles offense because they know all about that or at least they have in recent seasons. But it's just crazy to me again. Say it for the bill times to
Discussing the Philadelphia Eagles' overpay for Joe Flacco
"We even get started on joe flacco. I don't mean to take a dump. All over. Joe flacco good career. You want super bowl. Mvp and ninety eight seventy seven career records. Who's not some like garbage. You know scrub quarterback was never good and he doesn't deserve to be mocked and good for him for getting the deal that he got personally. I think he is agent. Did a good job. i guess trying to There's reportedly that the forty niners were also involved. And maybe that's why he got what he got with the eagles which i mean. The eagles shouldn't have cared. If there's other teams involved should have just passed the number. I but anyway it's been a long way. It's been a long way since. Joe flacco was even remotely close to being a desirable quarterback last six years and twenty six and thirty seven record a combined. Six point four yards per attempt over that six years fan six point four yards per attempt over six year span is not good last two years. Where the only two years he spent away from baltimore signed a one year deal in denver. You went to and four. They're moved onto the jets. Last season went owen for completion percentage in front of me with his fifty five percent or something like that point to and he had a qb rating. I think of like eighty point. Two eighty eight eighty twenty and then. I didn't have this but in your post on him. You had noted and grain of salt here but of course you had noted that Pro football focus had him as the second worst rated quarterback in the nfl last year.
Joe Flacco signing one-year deal with Philadelphia Eagles to back up Jalen Hurts
"Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, will now have a Super Bowl M v P as his backup and possible mentor in Philly 36 year old Joe Flacco signed a one year deal with Philadelphia late yesterday, The
Philadelphia Eagles Sign Super Bowl 47 MVP Joe Flacco
"Big news coming out of philly. Yesterday joe flacco agreeing to a contract with the eagles. It's a one year deal. Three and a half million dollars. Guaranteed the opportunity to win. Four million more in incentives. Now what does this mean. As far as the eagles and their draft plans remember. They only have one quarterback on the roster until this and that's jalen hurts and they have the six pick in the draft and as you see mel kiper junior and his latest mock has been taking the superstar receiver tamar chase from lsu which would be awfully knife or any quarterback that they have there but so does this mean mel again. It is not your expectation mel with us field. Yates as well here today. It does this mean and again. You're you're mock has them taking chase anyway but the signing flacco does that in your view. Close the door on any possibility that they draft a quarterback at number six. I think they would even going in before flacco. You think about. Joe flacco wise ian eagle thinking about the baltimore raven connection with the philadelphia eagles. Joe douglas and joe flacco who drafted where the want super bowl with the baltimore ravens. So there's that always that connection you can always go to. Guys are picked up later in their career. So for joe. Douglas bringing in a joe flacco you think about what he was doing with the jets in terms of the situation there. And then you've got the philadelphia eagles their same type of thing that raven connections. So i think when you look backing up jalen hurts right now. I don't think he's a threat. I think jalen that guy get jomar chase and go four with him and help jalen hurts and then reassess after the year's over that's what they will do that influence with the raven organization in philadelphia as a factor. I think it's a factor throughout the green and there always is joe. Flacco is a good backup came in the league. Same your matt ryan did and that ryan slow playing great football of course super bowl but Joe flacco did. But i think it's a good situation to have joe flacco there behind. The jalen hurts. Jalen hurts gets hurt. Your season's not over joke and still play. But i think this is jalen team right now. I thought it was carson wentz's team that didn't work out. But i think if you get your march help jalen hurts and then you make your decision air to this year whether in the twenty twenty two draft you have to think about drafting. A young quarterback failed. Same question to you. Does this mean in your mind that the eagles are out of the quarterback market at six. It does not greedy in. Here's a simple reason. Why i agree with everything else that i'm going to double back to that in just a moment. I just have long believed that if you are convinced. A player can be a franchise quarterback that if he's available at six. You have to at least consider it. If you're philadelphia. Now that being said all the indications this offseason from the previous reporting from more about the eagles plan to build around jalen hurts this year plus the signing of joe flacco which at least gives them a veteran option at the very least relatively modest priced by the way three point five million dollars. There are so many signs at the plan. This year is to find ways to make jalen hurts better so i still believe that ultimately the eagles are gonna be in prime position to land one of the best pass catchers in this year's draft a quarterback should not be entirely ruled out. And that's just me having seen the league long enough to know that sometimes teams do things the catch us by surprise even if they should not have caught us by surprise
Philadelphia Eagles reach one-year deal with QB Joe Flacco
"For the Washington football team, other NFL news today Joe Flacco as a new home he is signing with the Philadelphia Eagles to back up Jalen hurts. Reportedly a one year deal worth about 4,000,003 10.5 is guaranteed and incentives up to 7.5 Million, including playing time, etcetera. So Joe
Dallas Cowboys Reach Multi-Year Deal With Star Quarterback Dak Prescott
"Salary cabin number for two thousand and twenty one is going to be twenty two point two million dollars all right now. Head dak prescott. In franchise tag again this will happen in a procedural sense but had to cow tried to go at this with dak prescott on the franchise tag for the two thousand and twenty one season. We've talked about this a number of times. That value would have been thirty. Seven point seven million dollars so the fact that the cow is now have him onto the books. We're talking about the value that is on the books in the books. However you want to look at the books whether they're e books or physical books whatever the case may be that value is now twenty two point two million dollars now. I know that we have all said some things about the dallas cowboys but they are not complete dummies. They surely budgeted for the franchise tag value. Because let's be honest. They came about twenty four hours. We think you know. Close to having the actually placed the franchise tag and maybe carried out with that prescott. So the cowboys have room for the franchise tag at the very least so you look at that quake matt that adam schefter was kind enough to do for you. That is fifteen point. Five million dollars that the dallas cowboys suddenly have because they've got this long term deal with that prescott. This is something that we've been saying for two years now. If you do this you can. You can kick this down the road. You can prorate it you can extended you can whatever term you want to put on it. You can spread the impact of the deal out of the signing bonus of the overall guaranteed money out over the lives of the contract so it doesn't hit you all at once. That's the one killer about the franchise tag is that it is fully and completely guaranteed in franchise tag is a one year deal so the value of it last year and dak prescott was on the tag for thirty one point. Four million dollars. The two thousand twenty dallas cowboys had to absorb that value all at once and they would have had to have done it again. Here in two thousand and twenty one but because they have adjusted that they now have fifteen and a half million dollars that they were seemingly budgeting for dak prescott that now they can apply to different areas. Maybe it is a safety. Maybe it's a defensive end. Maybe it's a defensive tackle. Maybe it's you know an offensive tackle. But they want swing tackled death whatever the case may be. We know that the cowboys obviously hold the tenth overall. Pick in the draft. They could go a number of different directions there. They wanna cornerback kayla farther patrick's retain do wanna take one of the tackles and rashawn slater as all this is. This is setting up and this is an important thing. I want you to hear me here and watch me here. You cannot waste this money. If dallas cowboys the whole point and getting this done with thac prescott besides obviously establishing having the best player on your team for the foreseeable future the point in doing this is to alleviate the salary cap space now. And i don't like the term when now if you watch us often you know that but you look state of the nfc east. It is by sudha. I mean the philadelphia. Eagles are a disaster. The new york giants doping daniel jones is legitimate. The washington football team has a great team but is void of the most important position of the game and a quarterback. Maybe they'd get somebody this cycle as we all expect quarterbacks to change teams at a higher rate than usual but the case in point is at the dallas cowboys are now. We're going to see this all day on tuesday by the way and we'll talk about it of course but they're going to be overwhelming favorites to win the nfc streit and you think about the conference that they plan is really a contender in the nfc. And i mean that with all due respect to the reigning champion tampa bay buccaneers. But you've got the bucks you've got the green bay packers and then who scares you. May maybe the rams you believe in matthew stafford but the point is thinking about the afc. I mean the. Afc has the bills and the ravens and the chiefs and the titans and the steelers and the browns. I mean you could go. A number of different ways. Did the colts have carson. Wentz ends up getting his act together and so the cowboys play in the weakest division in the weaker conference and so now they have this opportunity to really kind of take their future in the here and now they have fifteen and a half million dollars that they weren't necessarily planning on having use it and if they don't use it it is all for not so i mean we are all imploring the dallas cowboys to ultimately use this salary cap space. This is a very very very luxurious gift. That they now have been afforded that they didn't previously have so shattered of course to the dallas cowboys. Let's see here let's move. I'm i wanna talk of course about the bonus the dak prescott because well. It's stupid large. I mean it's amazing. Dak prescott has now the largest signing bonus in the nfl. You look at joe flacco. Once upon a time. Got forty million. Dollars matt ryan forty six and a half. Remember if you're on the fence about this value. We've talked about this before as well. Matt ryan became the first quarterback in nfl history to average over. He had thirty but to average at least thirty million dollars per year with his new contract that he signed with the atlanta falcons in two thousand and eighteen. That was three years ago. Dak prescott signed a four six year. Deal whatever you wanna call it. That was three years ago. They matt ryan signed that he was the first quarterback to hit the thirty million dollars a year. Mark prescott just hit forty but the reality and we've been saying this forever is that there are so many deals coming around the bend. Josh allens gotta get paid. Lamar jackson's gotta get paid. Baker mayfield's got to get paid extra calories. He's going to get paid the year after that. It's going to be time for joe burrow to finally get paid and when all of those players get paid this forty million dollars a year. Mark the dak prescott got this one hundred twenty six million dollar. Total guaranteed is sixty six million dollar signing bonus all these things that are currently the top of the nfl. The most in nfl history. That's the verbiage in determining that you're hearing associated with this and it's all literally true but it's all going to get pushed down because all of these players on this list. Joe flacco matt ryan matthew stafford at fifty million signing bonus. Aaron rodgers fifty. Seven and a half russell wilson not going to be a dallas cowboy now by the way sixty five million dollars. Dak prescott topped that all of these quarterbacks in all likelihood we'll top that that's the reality of the nfl things are always moving in one direction. It is up
Boston - N’Keal Harry, J.J. Taylor out; 17 players questionable for Patriots against New York Jets

Enter Cam Newton coughed up the football on any chance of victory against the bills last week. Pat still banged up 19 players on the injury report that includes nickel, Harry and J. J. Taylor, who have already been ruled out Stefan Gilmore. He's questionable after missing last week and the Jets. They're the only Willis team in the NFL. New York Jets' Joe Flacco says he's embracing mentor role with Sam Darnold
"The newest member of the jets met the media this week quarterback Joe Flacco asked why he signed now and I waited until he could show teams hitting it fully recovered from his neck injury from last year I don't really think it's important to get on the team and get comfortable with with the guys in the team and get comfortable with Sam in this in this situation get comfortable with the offense that you known at some point be running in some capacity and and all that and it's just one of those things that you know how to make a decision to get something done this offseason and being on a team come this fall is an important thing for me Flacco on board to help Sam Darnold continuous development and he says he's fully embracing the opportunity
Eli Manning and the Hall of Fame: The case for and against
"Ally manning thing announced his retirement on Wednesday retiring after sixteen seasons. He's thirty nine years old The giants quarterback who was of course supplanted by Danny dimes. This year but was a rock for for many years is now heads into retirement and it makes sense Meena In fact as a New York I all my friends are giant spans. I was on a tax change just the day before this news broke. And we're talking about that. Allies GonNA retire probably soon. Because when you look at the landscape with all these older quarterbacks on the market and what allies allies been doing the last couple of years. It never made sense that he was going to find a place to start games or perhaps he didn't want to be a backup. So this all made sense but still it. It is the end of an era in New York. I would love nothing more to come in here and defy I. I think what you all know. I'm about to say about Eli Manning I should not be wh- down calls US football cools right. Yeah I would love to say you know what guys you can't tell the story of football without Eli Manning which by the way why why is he the only person who gets that benefit say that about anyone else other than Eli. There's a lot of guys you can't tell the story of football without Aaron Hernandez put them in the hall of fame or if you want to look at pat super we were both. I mean they don't want any of them without dont`a hightower that's a holiday thing. Greg is compared. Eli Manning to know first. Ten Sahal Hyphen reductionist could be just one thing. You consider about a candidate quite well the few want ally in the holly. It's either two cases. One one is longevity. which is I think? A lot of people throw out. Because there's just too many guys who would get in by that and then the other is the two super bowls in the story thing. That's just not about how I would define it. It just becomes an argument. About how do you define the hall of fame. I think in my case against him has always been and yeah. I've been making this case for probably eight or nine years. So this is how long he's been average He's just been averaged entire career. Average in completion percentage yards per attempt. He's actually really way. Below average in the law of the interception categories passer rating these average. He's just for the time he entered the league to the time he left the league. He was an average quarterback over or that span. I I still don't like that being the conversation though when he retired. I we've had this argument so many times that I think we're just tired of it like we've said everything that there is to say about. Eli Manning in the Hall of Famer Eli Manning in general that. I actually was annoyed almost yesterday that that's the conversation when a really great player who was a big part of the league in you know no matter whether he was a top five quarterback no he never was maybe in two two thousand eleven. I went through it once. I think I had him at a top five quarterback one year top ten quarterback only one other your. Yeah that's not the hall of fame but like immediately the second he retires. The entire conversation is like the start of the public hall of fame. Talk which is GONNA be. Never any people are so confident about what's going to happen you don't I know what's going to happen becoming. We were like you know he will be in. It's like you don't know that I think the manning name like this is not a new thought but just that we've talked about royalty and stuff that he's sort of this. NFL Family fixture that. The people voting for this. I think they're gonNa Push Eli Manning right in not maybe. CBS voters down. The conversation depends on who he's against. Though you're really does. Conversation will be never ending for five years then going in. I'm sorry I don't listen you. Everybody discounts counting stats and cory will get too caught up or only point at the two rings and the two superbowl. MVP's but I just think there's something that'd be so if he didn't win those super bowls he's he's not he's not going to have him. I get that but there's something to be said and it's always been feel overlooked both on this podcast aspect in general. Because Eli can be a target. I feel like on twitter that the giants drafted him or the chargers. Technically but the giants Brought him into the team in two thousand four. They put him in the lineup in around October that year and then they never had to think about the quarterback position again for the next ten eleven eleven twelve years and I know things didn't end very well but they should have been thinking about it so when you're when you're talking about right ten years okay I'm GonNa say ten years when you think about other teams about your Brown's Mark My jets so many other teams in the league that go through constant search a churn looking for a guy and you end up with a stop. Stopgap and a rookie. You stinks and then a stop Gat and then another rookie. And maybe you hit on something. Like the SEAHAWKS got Russell Wilson. They don't have to think about anything. Russell Wilson's a better player than the but he eli for ten twelve years. They put him in there. He did his job. He was not spectacular but he was steady. You never had to worry about him getting hurt because he never did. He's the most durable the player ever. You'd never had to worry about him saying stupid something stupid to the media. He always handled that very well. You never had to worry about him. Getting into like a behind the scenes drama with with a coach and exploding and him being at odds and using the media to get a point across and all that stuff he was a Walter Payton Man of the year guy he was a total title. Good Dude and in those playoff runs. Then you factor that in for me. He rose up in historic way. And then just beat. Anybody didn't beat the Jacksonville. We'll jaguars didn't beat a Pittsburgh. steelers heat the Patriots and he'd be Bill Bell Check and he'd beat Tom Brady. And if if that's not something that should be given added points knowing who the Patriots are and what they represent in this era of NFL football. I'm sorry I disagreed to just kind of view that uh-huh yeah beat the Patriots. No he beat the greatest team of all time the greatest quarterback in the greatest head coach. I think that means a lot. His team did right playing. Okay Ah in that Super Bowl. I don't think he would say he had the best game. Even the play he's known for is crazy play. That could never be replicated. The two twenty eleven run is what I remember most fondly. Va Man. I think people kind of forget that won the last game of the regular season that they played it was against the cowboys and then the three league games in the NFC playoffs and that Super Bowl he had a collection of some of the most improbable. Low percentage awesome throws goes for five weeks. Stretch that you'll ever see Joe flacco kind of had a somewhat similar run any add little moments like that the year after they won the Super Bowl two thousand eight. He was really good throughout the year but they didn't win the Super Bowl because if eli manning they want it because of their defense I mean they wanna because of Justin Tuck and he learned of it. It's equally reductive to me to say. They won because of the argue he was part of it took to get into the. I mean the kind of connected back to the HIGHTOWER. No one's out here making a case for hightower you kind of do you. You like to throw this one in. I is the single most important outside of Brady and Gronk like the Patriots. Don't have this run of Super Bulls without dont`a hightower. I think I don't think belongs in the hall of fame but you could every all of the cases were making for. Eli You could just as easily make for like twenty other other random playwright quarterback a case you've made for you. I think is the case. Why he's a great memorable? NFL figure. It's just that's different than in. Our weather also talked about about it forever his position he was not a top ten quarterback. I would say for every year but two of his career. There's no one in the hall of fame you can say they've also said forever. You're in West. You've quoted Vince Lombardi on this that the quarterback it just the most important for a position or a position where the spotlight as and that comes with way. More pressure To it then dot high tower where his position is. I just think what you I was able to do in that spot in those two years is something you can't take away from. I and and say oh he was carried to titles. Because I don't I just don't see it that way. I think you've you stated the case very well. I think it falls shy of the hall of fame. I think if you're a jets fan like Dan or you're the browns fan and you've seen nothing but Ship wrecked chaos at the quarterback position. That the the idea that you would draft someone who would play as Eli did before a PR stunt got him benched you know. Couple of years twelve years of sixteen starts and by the way we are stunned. Got Him benched. He got himself well. That's fine but I'm saying but also the disrespect I just giants fan and you draft draft Philip rivers and he. He did what he did. But you get Eli Manning out of it and you know. He's going to win two super bowls in essentially a total ironman at the position. He's a hall of fame to a lot of giants fans I get. I don't think he belongs to the meeting. Early either reading a story just reading up on allies career. I completely forgot the whole two thousand seventeen. Ben mcadoo where's Ben these days but Jacksonville Jaguars Ben
Dak Prescott’s contract is Cowboys’ “No. 1 priority” in offseason
"Dallas Cowboys have a new coach and have a quarterback today very much would like to keep his contract expires in March the haze in the barn he last played a game in late December week seventeen they didn't make it to the playoffs the rookie contract is over the injury risk has been fully and completely carried by dak Prescott that injury risk now ships over the cowboys and it will be part of the contracted that Prescott eventually gets and the more Jerry Jones and or Stephen Jones talk about the situation the more I realize that they have allowed themselves to be put over a barrel the likes of which we haven't seen since Joe Flacco became the Superbowl forty seven M. V. P. seven years ago it's been urgent for us Stephen Jones said Tuesday we certainly want to get that done that's our number one priority is to go to the off season is to hopefully find some resolution to it and get that done okay that's fine good do it it's not gonna be cheap here's why the contract is now based on the franchise tax and the franchise tag is in the neighborhood of twenty six million a year or at least twenty six million for this year and then it goes up by twenty percent for the next year and if the cowboys were to tag dak Prescott a third time it goes up forty four percent and that's the non exclusive franchise taxi the first decision they have to make is whether to use the non exclusive tag which would expose Prescott to an offer sheet that could be extended to him by another team and the cowboys would have five days to match and if they don't match it Prescott goes to a new team and the cowboys get two first round draft picks as compensation now would someone offer dak Prescott top of the market money and give up a pair of first round picks to get him good question there are more free agent quarterbacks than usual who are available in this cycle which would make a team less inclined to give huge money and two first round picks to get dak Prescott but you really don't know what other coaches think of a god because they have no reason to come out and tell us what a bill Belichick loves what about check decides he's our future that we can coach this guy into the kind of quarterback we had to deal with over the years and we haven't dealt with well the guy was some mobility a guy who can throw well on the run a guy who is always there always healthy when Tom Brady missed four games in twenty sixteen as the deflate gate suspension finally kicked in Jimmy Garoppolo got injured just over percent got injured Brady hasn't been injured since Bernard Pollard him low week one of the two thousand eight season and tore his ACL we take that for granted teams don't you need your quarterback there every week in Prescott for years hasn't missed a

Broncos announce Joe Flacco is out for Week 9 with herniated disc in neck
Fantasy intel for all 32 NFL teams ahead of Week 7
"Of information kind of funny because the beginning of the year we were told the Broncos had the most difficult schedule the NFL or second most most behind Texas dipping high look at it now everybody's talking about the schedule being so easy it's funny how on paper something looks in the beginning of the season and you get a way it was easy to find out it's not what you thought you with the Cleveland Browns for instance everybody was in the high pick for the Superbowl now they might not even win their division so you know it's it's it's interesting to watch to stop play out well even in the course of the of the flows of the season I mean as soon as Andrew luck announces retirement a lot of people just immediately said okay the culture gonna be picking in the top five judge go we were set is doing okay in fact the colts might even not necessarily go into the draft picking a high quarterback they might say you know Hey you if you if you could make us a competitive team Jacoby maybe they let you roll with it another year and they'll just bring in a quarterback they'll draft a quarterback to develop behind him I agree and I think it's amazing that you didn't mention Chad Kelly in there once that's because I shouldn't and nobody should here right but they they you know a little help Broncos fans are some people that I know I know I'll floater the one that got away the legend to the got away preseason legend Kyle floater all time grease motor back in a pre season he's putting up some really spectacular preseason numbers Benjamin rushing it yeah but highly loader single handedly ending the dreams of future insurance salesman but but to that point and I and I'm glad you brought that up and we we spoke about this a few times the ANC overall pretty weak conference you have the top in teams right we know those teams it it that doesn't change anything we knew that those teams were gonna probably be good but what happens is there's a lot of middling to bad teams teams actively taking in the A. F. C. N. and then there are teams that are look inconsistent at best and so for for the Broncos that's why you when we were in the midst of the old for when the Broncos were in the midst filled before we were talking about it we said look star string together a few wins yeah you never really know how this is going to shake out and in the midst of the Broncos getting the two wins in a row which they really should have three in a row the chief lose too and they lose too in a way that actually is a replicable likely teams or Detroit Lions basically did it carry that into the colts game the colts they went to Kansas city and they didn't even better and in the Texas look the the Texans model what is John Watson and and the officer told this sort of their shots it wasn't like they they wanted that game saying if we can hold them under twenty no I just did their thing they took chances will fuller drop three touchdowns in that game now three touchdowns in the game on now you know a great week start will fuller your fantasy league yeah I don't know any Benjamin all rights that would have invested heavily in him and done that but I I but yeah yeah that happened well buddy that that's that's what kills is like you know well for the week before hundred seventy yards receiving three touchdowns any of this to find digs going off for three W. like those things happen in that everybody's gonna rush to put it back in their or their line ups and then at the very next week their their disappointment right I'm not appoint chaser by as those good match up and then put in that vein it's not like the tents that that's where I'm I'm like look does the size of the Broncos to do their thing but it doesn't mean that the offense can execute effect I'll go almost a further with you on this bed I think mostly Joe Flacco today I think Joe Flacco once it I think Joe Flacco after kinda have in a a little a little bit of a everything taken off of him like like Hey we got this game Joe don't don't stress too much don't screw up in in the Titans game we got this one the way he's been Kerry himself the way he's been talking about the office I don't have a cut for me but she basically said something to the effect of like we want to be a reason why we win this game but not just part of like along for the ride the office was along for the ride in the Titan's went kinda yeah and I think that Joe Flacco of all people knows what both sides of that coin feel like you know he he was along for the ride with the ravens a lot of the time he also strung together the reason that they got two and won a Superbowl so you've been bullseyes that coin he sees tasted in all the that the tree of of winning in a great offense and now I I I do think that you think is will chip on your shoulder when you come away from the Titans game like well you know we actually kind of stock but the defense held us together you know the run game was next out the past came with very good at it I mean it wouldn't the office of Lee that what a great game by the Broncos are flashes they made some big plays and they need to but they try to put it in kinda cruise control because they knew they didn't have to I mean that the tides getting crossed the fifty yard line in the first three quarters play that I recall they got to the forty nine once had a point all of our four template but I mean you know when you when you bottom up that well get out your office kinda I don't see the check out but you know they recognize are not needed and there can be you can kind of let off the gas a little this was the quote he said there's always that side of it of wanting to go out there and have your claim on the game and all that is like there's always a personal side going out there and playing football games I don't think that always means it's a bad thing it's like I said I think you go out there and focus on what you're doing with the idea that it's for the guy next to you would have to repair the best you can so you're not letting anybody else down but again he kind of point at the very beginning of that he kind of pointed out yeah you know what you play this game you play this game to be remembered you play this game to be a winner and you don't want to be along for the ride of your quarterback like they did there you're less your a career pack up that is being brought in just to keep the seat warm you want to go out there you want to kind of put your stamp on the game just like I didn't get a chance to really do that this last game I think he really wants this one and he's got the defense I think to do that if they can get that run game warmed up early he'll have his spots to be able

"He a great golfer he is very intense but he is a competitive native individual additive that was on me. It was a battery battery my cat he was four or five whiskies. Don't don't over Polish is you're. You're you're you have a question for that. You talked about that earlier. What did you do to kind of make that situation right or did you do anything or how did you find out that you'd wrong? I've fed those guys the ball like when I realized Oh my God these guys hate me dom. There's an art again. There's an art to making sure everyone's is getting their touches like you understand what guys need. I mean even at one year I played Oh. Is that why Tom Fed in early. I believe yes exactly classroom. Open guys were opened. Philip outdoor set was open. Julian Edelman was open and he was he made a point in that first quarter when Abe was on the Patriots to feed him the ball and I said that was was a good idea because you know a B. personality. He just wants to be involved if he's not involved. He's just do it yeah. He's potentially a nuclear bomb if he's not involved in the Patriots showed why they were smarter than everybody else literally I drive. They just throw them four ball boom boom boom here you go in for the rest of the game by the way they didn't target them that much now. Antonio Brown was but again that goes to the quarterback. He's you got the ball in his hands of the play. Calls weren't any different guys were open and then he was like okay got that done and there's an art to feed in the ball. I was going to say I've played with Jerry Rice at the end of his Korea electric interviews tailgates but listen put rice aronie but knowing him like knowing what he's used to. He needs to get touches. He needs to get the ball in his hand doesn't have to be like downfield throat. He just needs to get a rhythm in the game in certain guys are that way and you gotta know it. Eh quarterback like I would think Stefan digs is a similar type player. Adam feeling is a similar player. They need to feel involved in the game. Calling twelve passes completing ten of them because you add cow Rudolph in there too so it's three very talented were human IRV SMITH IRV Smith second round tight end and so you start doing the math that's only like two potential opportunities the each of them for the entire game at what point you shit can't Zimmer then because what he he is trying to do is completely different than what your organization yeah. It's a and how does that happen by the Way Between Organization coaching philosophy I think they learned the hard way with their offensive line and it was actually through a tragedy. Tony's BARRANCO was their offense of line coach really the only like I would say on a coaching staff you put it together and maybe there's a a few guys with offensive line background. If you guys quarterback background tight end background the way that staff was set up. I think Tony Soprano was really like the o line guy and then tragically tragically. He passed away right before the season started and they just it shook that team like they didn't. I think Tony Soprano's a great leader like as a coach he's also a great leader and like that void was evident and and sometimes when you're looking at it globally you look at the teams with what you WanNa be at your identity you as an offense as a team you WANNA play ferocious depressant defense and have a good run game and I just think that that's a good recipe but it's just interesting because you've got more of a cut at least quarterback with wide receivers. Maybe it's not the right fit for that. it'll be exciting to see what happens to Vikings. Look like it's all about the how dare but they've got a great new tasks. This is like the true tests is like what kind of leadership and what kind of a unselfish play and that kind of stuff okay. Let's go back to what you said about that guy selling you out on TV TV yeah. The was an accidental thing in high suicide guys will sex Amir yes but it was due to it sounds like Dan fouts swell. It was a it was an analyst so to this day. We don't have a lot of female analysts in college for in professional football and that's probably coming. It should become an Idaho aww qualified people that could do. I agree completely. I agree completely but you told me something. I think it was last week like Hey you said that I didn't do anything but something to remind or remember is protect those production meetings and tech people that tell you stuff and that's definitely because you got sold sold out by a guy you said something. Actually I heard it but I don't know if it was you said like one of the coaches said you said something like Oh. This guy's is got a strong leg but this ball could go anywhere like Senate from my opinion. Your perspective just happen to I agree with the coaches coaches perspective yeah so I was just yeah. I was protecting you protecting him yeah but that's a real thing because we learn this stuff in these production meetings and it's like all right what say what can't we say and then because if you lose their trust your they're never tell you anything again and then they don't do the meetings. It's a very interesting balance of It's really like I'll just say you know one of the coaches. This happens a lot but one of the coaches told US basically the first ten plays told me and two other people the first ten plays of the game of last night's game of one of the Games and we don't you could hypothetically tomorrow night. That's hard tonight tonight. So I know the place tomorrow night last night. This came out tomorrow. It's a secret semantics that the moral the moral of the story story is I know the place throwing a former Russky. I know I know the plays. I watched him on film like. We don't know if this guy lied though to Matt to that'll be a test put. This is like that's what I'm saying. There is a you know we're kind of in the business of football together as a broadcast crew with the coaching staff one team one dream so so it is helpful all to hear from them. Hey okay. What are you what what's your game plan? What's your thought what do you see and then we're then? We do the same thing like we're honest about what we see. You know that kind of thing yeah and we're promoting their schools especially the smaller schools. Give us if they're nice with us. We're going to be nice with them. Obviously it helps out a lot yeah but I mean I'm not trying to be nice. I mean I'll call it like it is I was I oh I think I was hard on the Memphis quarterback like in terms of like his his throws he missed some wide open guys perfect play calls and just balls out about like if the ball was a grenade no one would've would have gotten hurt on one of the great actor was that line said to you before wasn't that Boza Jose grew. Nobody would have heard what was the butterfly line. You dropped off by God. That's Brett Farve ISM like any time he'd have a really nice fade. Throw in the back corner of the end zone with his Mississippi accent. He'd say that ball drop like a butterfly with sore feet or any more Brett Farve is do that on purpose either. I didn't know how else to explain. It was just like obscene that throw before and that was from the Navy quarterback that Navy quarterback had the that's the first half ever got hurt and Vegas. No how did Vegas know that he was going to get hurt. They'll the Memphis defense players on offense answer navy got hurt and that's really that was the key to the game but I wonder how last night's game honestly because here we are going into. It Vegas thinks it's going to be eleven. Uh I'm thinking hunting potentially more but couple other games in the past we thought it was gonna be different and it got real tight. We've had some good great game we have the the pirate has gallbladders getting a little surgery. No mascots out says that move the spread it all supposedly by one point. "What other quarterback situation interests you as we head through OTA's, and we're not that far away from trading gap. I'm interested to see improvement in buffalo. Josh Allen kind of morph into the, you know, the passer, they wanted to be when they drafted him kind of same thing in Baltimore. I talked to some Baltimore defensive players football team. And you know they, they were a little concerned. They were upset that Joe flacco wouldn't put it in the second half of that playoff game. And they're worried about Lamar actionability to do to grow as a passer called him on read guy. And, you know, that's interesting how guys you're leaving the team because they are worried that they're going to have to carry the offense again. So I you know, I'm I'm concerned about that, when I wanna see that I'm interested to see how this Cleveland Browns experiment plays hyped up. You know seeing the Cleveland Browns finally succeed trade for all this talent and everything. But, you know, in the back of my mind, I'm reminded of et eagles dream team years ago that imploded on it self. So when you got a rookie head coach a quarterback who's just going into a second year a bunch of players. Have had lumers at least of, of kind of like the interesting to see how they hold it all together. What side of the Odell Beckham junior argument. Do you fall on Ben? He's a great talent. And if you're a coach who can't find a way to maximize great talent and not have to worry about the rest, then you're not doing your job, not that we're pointing any fingers to wreck flea Benjamin. Alright is with us from Denver. He's an NFL insider, who also does radio and TV in the Broncos neck of the woods. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence here.

"I think that is like I said, it's kind of riches job, you know, and it's and it's, it's to be in that quarterback room and, and watch. And that's how you develop listen. I got so many things that worry about, I'm trying to go out there and play good football. I'm trying to their best football my life. So as far as time constraint and all that stuff. You know, I'm not worried about developing guys or any of that. You know that is what it is. And like I said, I hope he does develop but I don't look at that as my job this is after hours with Amy Lawrence, one of the stories of the week in sports that I'm glad got buried by everything happening, and hoops in hockey and golf, and yada, yada. Because the reaction to Joe flacco saying it's not my job to mentor train. Drew lock, I'm busy trying to quarterback team. How many times I've rolled my eyes with the way, people have picked apart and turned it into Joe flacco being some kind of villain and not wanting to help the poor young kid who just got drafted by the Broncos. Oh, board drew. And then how about TMZ inserting itself into the fray. I don't know if this is the same reporter that followed Johnny Menzel around for weeks and weeks. But it certainly does sound like a guy who doesn't know what he's talking about. Excel. That he caught up with drew lock verdicts close. How excited are you planning Denver? Zuber. Can ask John Elway came out and flacco said or Joe flacco said that he doesn't want to mentor mentor. Mentally. Comments really have any. Joe? Told me lots of he's still got it. So he has been a little bit. Same same quarterback. Remember say he's been been great seriously. Did you hear drew laugh at him when he said, drew flacco, also flacco, didn't say, I don't want to? He said, it's not my job. Sometimes we get a little bit,.

Worse hits. Are you planning Denver? I'm super excited. Ask John Elway came out to flacco said Joe flacco said Joe said he doesn't want to mentor. Mentor. Me, lots of games. Now, the reason why he did get any more is because you didn't get enough. I down a hail coup. JJ shah. What you were saying about it back to safety. I tell you what they better they better give him minds. Right because they will be on the cover of insane magazine, this consistency. Play. Busy team. Ringling will get you completely blowed out. The Rams are not very good ally. Manning had been given the rights of passage. The patriots defense was one of the weakest link of the chain. But what happened the night the strength of the patriots team got the buckled. Here malone. Now, would you do me the favor plays of just isolating his difficulty with L O cool J and how he Peters out after the fact still trying to get LL cool J, right? And I think he calls him JJ at a second point alkyl JJ. All right. That's the best sport song. Right. That that we had in the background there. I mean, there's nothing better than that song. It's great. It's the best one before we get to isolated L. Cool JJ sound. I wanna get to a scary, Terry Rozier and Joe flacco and gets to God's his thought. So here's Joe flacco talking about the fact that he does not care to mentor. Drew lock. And he is forgetting evidently Joe flacco is that statistically he was about the worst quarterback in the NFL. I think that is like I said it's kind of riches job, you know. And it's and it's and it's to be in that quarterback room and and watch and that's how you can develop. Listen, I got so many things to worry about. I'm trying to go out there and play good football. I'm trying to go out there and play the best football my life. But I don't look at. As my job. My job is to go win football games for this football team. I have no issue with that. I mean flacco is is thirty three years old. He probably thinks he has more in the tank he probably thinks he's not in the mentoring part phase of his career right now. And he doesn't feel like it's his job. He is fighting with that guy. Verse starting job. I'm actually I'm actually okay without he's thirty three still feels like he can play quarterback of wants to play quarterback. I mean is he trying to make news now just lie? Them out. Yes..

"In the world in front of twenty thousand loud people who hate them, but stick a single microphone in the face of one of these guys and just put the spotlight on him and have him talk. When perhaps he doesn't have the same confidence in talking. I see this with Latin players all the time Latin baseball players you put them in front of people in a lot of pressure. No problem. I got confidence over here. But now, I gotta talk, and I gotta be interesting. And I gotta be inciteful, and they were just talking in real clipped bites. There isn't anything from the personalities that you're seeing other than a smile from Zion. Williamson that would suggest star in the making personality nothing zero some other draft. Observations are Kyle Kuzma, he'll look good. He also looked like he didn't want to be there. He also looked like when they got the fourth big a man who knew he's about to get your aided. All that stuff is what you saw in Kyle crews all happened as a big night for the Lakers. It really was. They were the big winners indefens- of the players though. It's possible that they don't say anything because they haven't been drafted yet. So you don't want to say the wrong thing. So they could almost be intentionally neutered. And hey, listen, don't say anything too. Controversial don't say anything to interesting just kind of wait to be drafted number one. And then be yourself because you don't want to cause yourself millions of dollars trying to be too much. But think of it this way. Okay. Because I really don't mean it as an indictment of them. How confident would you have been on ESPN as a freshman coming out of high school your freshman in college doing I'm the center of the universe right now? All of my dreams are taking place in front of me. This is the NBA. That's Adam silver. These are league. And now case keenum, that's one of the least interesting things I've ever heard VC's live at our show with his two guys on ESPN radio..

'cause when you were running your running real athletic and real fancy and they're like L Jackson, miss spin Jose Eurosteps through the crowns. Definitely Josh Jackson. Right now, it is time for soft move or boss. New Broncos quarterback. Joe flacco was asked about his relationship with rookie quarterback, drew luck. And how he would mentor him and bring him along and showing the ropes. He basically said my job is not to mentor people my jobs to win football games, saying won't even mentor. The rookie quarterback on your team. When you are a veteran. Soft move or boss move. Possible. Why know what in all reality? This is the car who's gonna take his job the one thing. I appreciate in these situations. Because I've been there before you got to be consistent. You are who you are. Countdown to first round of 2019 NFL Draft
"Denver Broncos have the number one ten overall pick in the know rather has the number ten number one. But number ten overall pick. It is the first round though in the NFL draft, which starts tonight voice of the Broncos. Dave Logan says the team has a handful of needs including the offensive line and could make some picks you might not expect. I do think they'll pick a quarterback some more of this draft and maybe higher than we've seen some of the other drafts with Trevor simian a seventh round pick. I mean, maybe maybe amid round quarterback signed veteran quarterback. Joe flacco to contract in the off season. The draft starts at six
NBA Draft 2019: Latest 1st-Round Order, Predictions
"And ladies and gentlemen, we have a new mock draft out Mel kiper Jr's three point. Oh is here with us. And we are looking forward to the draft. Mel will join us in just about an hour to talk about the new mock draft. But there have been some changes in the draft specifically one less quarterback. Now going in the first round then in mel's two point oh mock draft. So we have four in the two point oh mock draft with Daniel Jones from Duke rounding out of the last pick of the draft to the patriots in the first round of thirty two. There are only three quarterbacks now in the first round, according to mel's latest mock. And obviously a retirement might be a big reason why and the quarterbacks have changed as well. Right. As far as where they're they're going. Well, Cuyler he still has Tyler going number one derozan. Well in his last draft Cuyler going number thirteen to the dolphins. So now and this draft he hasn't going number one. He had. Dwayne Haskins going number six at a giant Kyle Murray. Going number thirteen to the to the dolphins. Drew lock going fifteen to the Redskins and Daniel Jones going thirty two to the patriots. So as you mentioned Daniel Jones now out of the first round, according to the latest mock draft by Mel kiper, just three quarterbacks Murray number one. The main says Dwayne Haskins at number six, and you start to hear reports that the giants may go defense was six and then was seventeen go quarterback. But right now twain Haskins at six and then drew lock sitting there at number thirteen for the dolphins. Does the only three quarterbacks in this latest first round. Yeah. Going to be very interesting because we know what the giants listen one thing. Dave Gettleman has made very clear he does not feel beholden to tell us his plan. And so I don't feel overly beholden to believe. A lot of what we're hearing coming out of the giants can't because if you've got a guy who's basic messages trust me, I got this. Well, then we understand he doesn't feel like he has to tell us the truth. So as we hear these things. Coming out. We also understand this time of year is about deception to an extent it's trying to manipulate the draft order trying to manipulate the opinions of certain players. So that you can try and put yourself in the best position to get the guys you ultimately want. So it makes it difficult to try and read the tea leaves it is although I have to say on cattlemans behalf. He said all of last spring saquon Barkley is a generational talent with the second overall pick. And that's where he went. Look, I think we all agreed. There has to be a quarterback in the giants future. Whether it's at six or seventeen trade now Cleveland, but it would not surprise me in the least if Dave Gettleman waited until the second or third round to take a quarterback this Dave Gettleman, he created that created, but he he made the term a more of a vernacular in the NFL draft hog molly's when he was the GM of the Carolina Panthers. He loves the big guys to hog mollies. And let's be honest. This draft is going to be decided outside of Kyla Murray. More than anything else about the big defensive lineman in this draft. The hog Molly is on the defensive side of the ball. So depending on your draft grades for your quarterbacks you could take one of those at six and then a quarterback at seventeen it all depends again on your on your draft great. If twain Haskins is highest on the board and draft grades. You don't pass that up. If you have a Dwayne Haskins drew lock. And whatever other quarterback equal in grades. You know, maybe use that seventeen pick baby can trade it up somehow to get one of those guys as I said, this always comes down to grades. Do. You have a choice amongst grades. Are you close enough in quarterbacks where if you don't get one you try and get the other? But we'll see we'll see, you know, one of the biggest changes in from the last two this for Mel was they had the patriots taken Daniel Jones a quarterback, and this one I serve Smith junior the tight end from Alabama going, and that would not be shocking at all you have really three out of the top tight end Hopkinson the kid from Iowa teammate, Noah Fant, and then Smith junior all three likely to go in the first round a three first round tight end to on the same team come on. And what would that tell you as we saw? The patriots jump into the first round and take a running back and Sony Michelle at the end of that. And now to see in the next year three tight ends going. We've talked about this. However, you want to split it. Last year were Quinton Nelson. Went in the top ten in the draft as an offensive guard. We saw roquan Smith going the top ten as a middle linebacker. The middle of the field is worthy. NFL is being built right now. And other teams are starting to catch up to what the patriots have done for years. The way that we've seen teams export that specific area and three tight ends in the first round would hammer that home not denying that. They are guys that are certainly probably more talented than usual tight end groups. We're used to seeing but it's also about value. It's why you see running back taking it to overall by the giants last year. I mean, the other thing is I think they're more interior linemen in this first round then quarterbacks right? Like, a not tackles guards and centers. There are more of those according to males latest mock than there are actual quarterbacks being taken which would be very unusual. So the top five in this new draft that Mel kiper put out is Kylie Murray. Number one of the cardinals Nick both the D N number two to the forty Niners. Number three. Josh Allen the outside backing backer pass rusher going to the jet number four Cornyn Williams. To the raiders and number five guy making a pretty big jump. Devon white going to Tampa Bay at five in the last mock draft he was number eleven to the Bengals now in mel's draft. He is sitting at number five number six twain Haskins seven Joon Taylor. The offense attack from Florida going to Jacksonville sweat, the D N going to the lions at eight Sean, Gary the D N going into the bills from Michigan and TJ Hopkinson. The tight end going to the Broncos at number ten. Here's here's what I wanted to talk to Mel about and one of the issues that I have laid on me big fella with with this draft comes, you know, some some point and one of them is there are few prospects in new first round projection who are making their debuts because of their combine performances. There are four guys who have jumped into mel's first round who weren't out there before again based on the combine combine performances. I don't understand that. I don't I don't understand that. If you wanna say. You looked at the combine to go back and look at tape of them. But to say, they're combine performance jumped them up that doesn't compute to me. Well, I think that's I think that's the assumption though, is because of their performance you went back and look and that. That's fair. That's why I want to ask them. How did this? Make you go back and study them more. Because if you're just basing things off the combine I got a real issue with that. Yeah. I I don't think you would do that or teams. But at the same time, you look at the positions of the majority of the players that would be involved in that. And I think this could be true for teams as well. It's interior offense. It is right. Three interior offensive linemen Terry McLaren the wide receiver, but when it comes to interior offensive lineman. You wanna talk about an area where the scouting grossly lags behind to actually great and overall draft. It's a difficult area for a lot of people to see and understand because you don't have the benefit of a lot of stats. You don't have the benefit of even the combine members necessarily always translating to production. So when those guys go and they paying and they flag in the model somewhere for what they do at the combine. And then you go back and spend some more time looking at a guy like Lindstrom who wasn't going to be a big name. He wasn't like, you know, Gary bradberry from North Carolina State won the Remington award this year. Like that guy was a stud Boston College was a middling. Okay. ACC team this year. So Lindstrom wasn't getting the credit. He deserved even being as good as he is. So you go back now, and even these NFL teams, maybe we're late to the party on some of these guys all of a sudden start giving them an extra. That's why I want to ask I just wanna make sure with Mel that because I'm just reading from the combine performance, and again, let's put a name. To those you mentioned McLaren the wide receiver who is one of the others. Chris Lynch reminder, you just mentioned from Boston College now. Number twenty one to Seattle Eric McCoy interior linemen going number twenty two to Baltimore. Right and the Garrett bradberry. The Senator from North Carolina State who is you mentioned one the Remington award is the best center in the country number thirty one to the LA Rams where they have an aging center, and John John Sullivan. And that was that was one of the things have been saying for the Rams the last couple of years that dynasties been built on the interior. If you land a guy like that good, Lord or you winning out it is. So we'll see how that plays out. Now, the one thing that I find interesting he he has drew lock the third quarterback Mel dozen his latest mock going thirteen in Miami. I'm telling you don't take out Denver at ten in Cincinnati of eleven in play for quarterbacks. I mean. Yeah. Denver made the play for Joe flacco. But John Elway has messed this up a couple of times with all due respect. I mean, that's just outside of getting Peyton Manning. He has not figured out the quarterback spot there at ten they might be in play for quarterback. And you have Andy Dalton with his situation with the Bengals and his contract situation. I, you know, I think that there's a really good chance that they could be in play with a quarterback there, by the way, by the way, Mel kiper Jr's mock draft not the biggest item related to the draft this week. That will have news for you guys. What more on that coming up later? This week

"That's eight five five two two forty two twenty seven. I two other stories though, that I want to get to let me start off with case keenum. He said he was shocked over the Joe flacco trade. That makes two of us. But I think for different reasons. For case keenum. He's shocked that I guess he's being replaced. I'm shocked that John Elway's decision was to go trade for Joe flacco, not that he's horrible. But when you have won miss on many quarterbacks posts number eighteen and pay demanding you need to find a long-term resolution. And yes, Joe flacco, maybe it works for a year or two, but I think you're naive. If you think your team is close to winning. So I would have invested. On a younger quarterback or someone that you think could stick around for more than two years because I don't think slack is going to have this long run. I would have looked to make a move for the future. But Mr. Elway did not elect to go that way, he went with the older veteran and Joe flacco, and they didn't risk anything by. Traded away. What is reported a fourth round pick for case keenum to be shocked. He threw for a little over almost thirty one hundred yards last year and in eighteen touchdowns fifteen interceptions. You were not in the quarterback play last year. That would make anyone believe especially when your team was off. There are six and ten at one point. We thought they were gonna make the playoffs. There were six and six at one point. And then they just threw up on themselves all down the stretch. What makes you think that you are entitled to be the starting quarterback next year? So you're shocked by this. No, maybe you're just shocked that this is the guy that replacing you with because how much better at this stage of his career, Joe flacco than case keenum better, but not by much in my estimation..

"The Broncos trading for Joe flacco not official yet. But reportedly he will go there when the NFL season is officially underway the business season and again a phone Bronco fan. There's no reason to be excited about that can be one reason to be excited about that. Five years ago seven years ago, maybe but right now. To me. John Elway needs this to work badly. Because none of his quarterback moves more since you brought him Peyton Manning. And how a guy who play the position as well as anybody who's ever played. It could have so much trouble. Finding a guy to play that position to me is makes no sense at all. But he's had that trouble. Look at who's brought in look at the trouble. They've had and they continue to waste a really good defense a ROY talented defense. So I'm looking for your thoughts. Meantime, Vegas does not like that move. Pat Moro is the head oddsmaker for Bavadra. He tweets, quote, the Broncos moved from one hundred to one to one twenty five to one to next year Super Bowl at Bata official. Hey debt does not speak. Well for that move. You make a move to get better you make a move to lower your odds. So the first reaction from Vegas is not a positive one Vegas is not always right? They set line. So they can make money. They're not always right. But I've got a feeling pats right about this one looked at moving think. Oh, yeah. That makes them more likely to win the Super Bowl. I don't think so hey, Rome, Matt Stafford know that you can do face push ups side, Orange County women. Dear Jim flacco versus Mahomes. I'll take it signed Andy Reid Casey New Hampshire where the Broncos making themselves comfortable in the basement of the AFC west. Don mean that the raiders jumped over them. Jim stop it signing. Joe flacco is safe move to make side people who order chicken teriyaki at a Japanese restaurant. True in west LA. Anyway. February twelfth was quite a day for Antonio Brown. That was yesterday February twelfth he was found guilty of reckless driving after failing to show up for court. He was cited in November for allegedly driving triple digits through Ross township Pennsylvania and then shortly after that news he jumps on Twitter and says quote, thank you Steeler nation for big nine years time to move on and forward with a piece out emoji. And hashtag new demands. So that sounded like the tweet of a guy who had just been traded or released but come to find out neither of these things happened. He had not been traded. He had not been released. In fact, nothing happened. Nothing changed. He just wants out. So AB may have officially requested a trade yesterday, but he unofficially. Did it the minute. He started to burn every single bridge in Pittsburgh. Remember, he was clowning his head coach on Instagram. He was ignoring phone calls from the owner. I don't wanna get too technical here. But I'm pretty sure that when you're out there roasting, the two most important guys on the org chart the coach. And the owner you probably send a very specific message as to whether or not you want to be there. And whether out that message was official or not you were sending that message. So that continues a pretty horrendous offseason for his rap. You've got one ugly story after another one reported legal issue after another and we're still only in mid February. This plenty of blame to go around and Pittsburgh for this situation. And how things got so bad how they went so sideways, but lately even with all that blame to go around. It seems like Antonio Brown is trying to hog it all for himself that reckless driving charge too weird tweet. They're not helping his rap. They're hurting it. Of course, the moment a tweet like that hits the internet, then everybody freaks out trying to run a misdirection. He's trying to get people to look at him. People reacting you've got media outlets rushing to put together trades photo. Shopping him into New Jersey's is it the forty Niners the jets the patriots the ravens how about Cleveland Brown Antonio Brown? You've got one pro bowler after another tweeting at him to join them. Maybe that's what he was looking to get out of yesterday. Maybe he needed a quick hit of that Twitter run some Twitter love because aside from hurting Pittsburgh's leverage in a trade deal. Exactly. What did that tweet? Accomplish. What did he get out of that? What changed nothing changed from before that tweet to after that tweet? He's still under contract with the Steelers. The financials are still the financials a trade still cannot be executed until March thirteenth. So exactly what was he looking for. When he did that. What is the need that he was trying to meet? What was the point of that? Oh, and one more thing. Exactly, why does anto Brown wanna leave? There is that part of that. And don't get me wrong. I can see some of this. I could see how he might be tired of some of the guys in that locker room. It's a room. That's got a ton of egos and some guys who like to point fingers, but never accept any blame themselves. No names mentioned the freaking quarterback. I could see how it might piss Antonio Brown off the Ben Rothlisberger cracks in publicly this no need for that. Ben doesn't need to do that. I could see how Brown might feel like he gets more blame. Dan, he deserves or how he just gets tired of being in that situation. But here's the thing. He might be tired of being that situation. But to me there is in a better situation. It may not be perfect to him. But there was not a better situation. There's not another team that he could go to provide a better situation. Does the guy want to win a ring? The Steelers are in the hunt every single year the only spot better for him than that would be New England. And there's no way Pittsburgh is going to let that happen. Merman Jason lockenfora tweeted, they want him. But can't have him Steelers won't deal him to New England. Baltimore Cleveland was Cincinnati kind of like how Bella check wouldn't deal Jimmy G to Cleveland. Why the hell would they why this? Why would they do that? The Steelers are going to do what's best for them. And not what's best Rentokil Browne. Trading him to a team where he could come back and kill them twice. A year is not in their best interests. Neither is trading him to the defending Super Bowl champs the team they have to get through if they get what they want or to get what they want. So what does this guy looking for what does he want? Does. He want a different offense. There's no other situation with a hall of fame quarterback throwing the ham and a Pro Bowl wide receiver on the other side of him. I mean, where's he going to find that does he want more targets how many more does he want? Does he want every single pass? I mean, it's make a lot of noise about San Francisco. But does he really think that Jimmy Garoppolo coming off a shredded knee is better than Big Ben does he really think that he wouldn't be double and triple teamed with the Niners again, what's he want? Does. He want a situation where the team allows him to come and go as he pleases to show up late for meetings. Is you looking for a situation where Antonio Brown? Gabby Antonio Brown. Hell he already has that in Pittsburgh. He can already come and go as he pleases in Pittsburgh. So let's recap really quickly. Ability to contend for a title every year, check teammates, including a hall of fame quarterback and a Pro Bowl wide receiver. Check catching more than one hundred passes every single year check flexibility to himself and not show up to meetings on time or at all check ability to bail on staying in the dorms during training camp with everybody else and stay in a suite Airbnb and be dropped off to practice in a Benz check. Essentially, do whatever the hell he wants because he works really hard. And he puts up hall of fame numbers. Check bad situation. Bad situation. Sounds like the best situation ever. And Pittsburgh has all that. And nobody else does. But here's wanted hit and one more thing about this too. Then you've got the Steelers side of things right there two sides here. Don't think for a second the you can just replace Antonio Brown. You can't you can not just replace a hall of fame receiver. I know juju. Smith Schuster is number one in waiting. I love the kid. But right now you have to number ones. And while I'm no math wizard. Two number ones is better than one number one. So all you fans wanna say that you're better off without this guy. Don't you're not you're not better off without him. Just like you're not better off without levian bell. Yet here we are here. We are the Steelers on the verge of not losing one of them. But losing both of them in the same off-season. So you can next man up all you want. But you don't next man up two of the league's top ten players in their prime. So let me once again say what I said yesterday. The bridge may be obliterated. There may not be going any back or going back. Maybe they can just don't tell me that the player is better off without the team. And the team is better off without the player. And they're better off each other. Because they're not they need each other. You watch that divorce is not going to work out. Well for either side neither side is better for that. In less. There's something I'm missing Pittsburgh is the best bought for him. And he's the best guy for them to get into a room swallow your pride sorted out. Like the professionals you're all supposed to be and get the hell on with it because blowing this thing up is all wrong. Even if that's the way it's going to end up. One eight zero zero that is the definitive bottom line. Right. Would you say to that? Juju on the show on radio row and asked him. Has the bridge Ben obliterated. Or is this something that you can still fix still be salvaged? Can it be fixed? I mean, it's something that time the communication between our head coach to the team. It's gonna take time, you know, obviously, the situation towards the season where he didn't he didn't finish the season because he had an injury, which is totally understandable. But I don't think he's going anywhere. I think he's saying, you know, black and gold, and he's gonna finish out.

"It's Maggie and Bart here with you Carlin on vacation. Well deserved. We're here with you till three o'clock, and we gotta start actually with like a little housekeeping. Let's just sort of plan out. And we'll tell our audience is sort of how this show is going to go today. Okay. So we understand that Mickey Callaway is speaking right now down in port St. Lucie. We are monitoring that press conference for you. If Mickey Callaway utters the words, well the way baseball works as we'll be sure to get that to you because those nuggets of wisdom just can't be replicated anywhere else. No. But all kidding aside. We will have snippets of Mickey Callaway coming into their show. Aaron Boone we'll be giving his first press conference on spring training that will be at one thirty. We are going to take that live. We will take that live. We'll head down to Tampa. You will get Aaron Boone in his entirety. So that's coming your way at one thirty. But we have to start with some football news that just broke before we came on the air before we switch over to plenty of baseball on today's show, but the football news. Happen far away. But actually what ramifications close to the home than people might think. Bart. Joe flacco your former quarterback when you're with Baltimore has been traded at least in principle to the Denver Broncos now the ripple effects here for the New York Giants, you believe what is the biggest one. Well, the greatest thing that have in life is options and now because of one move from the Baltimore Ravens moving Joe flacco potentially to to Denver is that now the giants have a host of options. And I think the best option for them now is to really take a heart. Look at doing whatever they have to do to make a move for case keenum, and you say why make a move for case keenum one. He's the perfect bridge quarterback. And I think that the giants are going to have aspirations because they say, okay, we're gonna have ally. And Eli is going to give us the best chance to. Win. But allies had a great career that was without injury. And you always have to have that insurance in case he has Andrew you don't want the season to go into the tanks. Okay. So you're saying keep Eli Keila so not breach quarterback this year. No have case keenum be Manning's backup. Yup. This year. That's kind of an expensive backup anything. Well, not as expensive people think not as expensive as what the jets have with mccown because I feel like if you take on case keenum case keenum, I feel like is in a position where yes money is important. But in the pecking order where he would fall Nick foles would be one teddy Bridgewater will be two. And now, he's three. So he may find the bad year. Right coming off that Minnesota year when he was of course, with Pat Shurmur and had his best year. Then he was able to parlay that into a good deal of Denver. He's coming off a six and ten season right now their coach got fired. I mean, the stock is down on case. Right. So somebody who is played well with listen case games seven teams since he's been NFL. So the fact that he doesn't want to have to learn another system Ben ever come in here. He can not only be a backup for Eli. But he could be a resource for ally to help teach them this system as he continues to try and master this system. It's not about the hope that Eli would master or one keenum only had one year under a two, but they had different styles and different checks, and they may see things a little differently, and he may be able to help him with the audibles the certain formations that maybe they use more Minnesota that they didn't use manning would be okay with case keenum being his backup. Because I know Dave Gettleman said we had a they had a tough conversation. But I almost think that Eli now would feel like I can definitely he's gonna get all the chances in the world to start. We know that. But do you think that he wants a guy who actually has done well, and his head coaches system could be sitting there behind I think so. I think what this says is Brian Hoyer sitting behind Tom Brady because he allows another person to help him think he knows that case keenum knows his role. Case keenum is a guy who I believe you'll understand that this is his opportunity steal headlines. Exactly. He's a guy that's going to sit there. He's going to be a resource. But also now that allows you as the giant to be able to make a move and get another pressing need that you need which is the past Russia, and this allows you at six to not have to reach for Haskins or pretend to a Murray because if they didn't believe in the draft class last year, how can they say they believe in this draft class this this year, we all know again next year is the draft where to a Frahm is coming out. So that may be the draft where you want to strike and user draft equity to move up to try and get a player like that. A let everybody else reached for Haskins. So like if you're a team in need like Jacksonville, or if you're. Team. That's Anita quarterback. And you take two this year. You're not going to be in the market for those guys next year. So let those guys eliminate themselves by getting a young quarterback. And you sit back and you get your bridge quarterback. Because what happens is if you go get case keenum, right? Eli plays. Well, or don't play. Well, he leaves his tracks over with next year. Now, you have a guy that can start the beginning of the season. Like Kurt Warner did bring your in twenty twenty draft pick. Right. So case keenum becomes your bridge quarterback. Do you honestly think though that the giants can afford to punt again on getting that future quarterback? Because listen that twenty twenty class is going to be better, which means yes, you'll have teams that will take themselves out of it this year. But it doesn't mean nobody's going to be vying for those names, right? You're always gonna have competition when it comes to quarterbacks. But it's crazy. It's starting to fill up. Right. We we used to say this. We noticed team doesn't have their franchise quarterback. This team has had their franchise quarterback. Now twenty eighteen. Class. I mean when you have five quarterbacks was a five one five in the first round filled a lot, and they filled a lot of holes for teams that were searching for their quarterback. And it seems like the jets have their quarterback seems like buffalo you may not admit it right now. But it seems to me that they had the future. Right. It saves like Cleveland who's been searching quarterback of the future for years. They're not going to be in a marketing anymore. So now you have the Jacksonville the world maybe Tampa that may be one of Miami is going to have to do some Miami. So Miami, maybe the team that you have to fight for next year. We know that it's going to be at least two devil's advocate side of this say that the giants actually really do like Dwayne Haskins. They don't think it's a reach right say they believe that he is their guy now while you've taken one more team out of the potential draft. Sweepstakes writing Denver who you thought was definitely going to go after a quarterback. Well, now, they have flacco they might still you never know. But you don't know if they're going to jump up and try to get one could this actually be the perfect year for the giants to strike on a quarterback. Maybe when beauty's in the eye of the beholder. If they really love Haskins. Do you do this that I know this sounds a little drastic? And I know we get accused of being Eli haters on this show. I'm just positing this question. Do you cut? Eli manning sign case keenum and draft Wade Haskins. I don't think the. I don't think Gettleman has the marbles clear that because I know I risk getting a blow Dr in the back. Suggesting that I get that. Right. You cut you cut alive a case keenum, but it's not really for case keenum. For the kids, but it's always going to. But you get born buffer of one year or you get the Kurt Warner. Right. That Eli had we get an air bag or case keenum. You get you sacrifice him as sacrificial lamb or he takes all the brunt of the Eli. I r- and that anger that the fan base will have. But meanwhile, he's actually greasing the skids for Haskins. See this problem, right? You would have to you got to do. Right. The same way. The ravens did flacco. Right. They took a little bit round pick. It wasn't nothing. Right. But they did that. So that they can send him to the right place a place that he can go and still have an opportunity with a great organization. The only place you can sexually Joe. Flacco is probably his best moment as a quarterback happened in that stadium. Right. And John Elway. We know that he can't draft the quarterback. But we know he can bring somebody retread NBA successful with them. The only place you can send Eli where you can do. Right. Would be Jacksonville. Right. But the problem is Nick foles is going to be lurking around. And I think Nick polls would be the first guy. Off the board. And I think that a block ally your reunion with Coughlin. But also what that does is either way you do it. If you go in you, and you keep ally, you go get case keenum, you putt until the the big draft where people were waiting for Frahm and tour to come out. Then at allows you you gotta make that allowed you to dress another need and get you some salary cap space. I think you could alleviate Vernon and use number six on a guy like Josh Allen. If Nick Bosa was to fall or a. A Gary acquitted Williams those guys listen this draft, position wise, we all know pass rusher is pass rush. Whatever is the the position of strength. I also think that maybe it'd be something where maybe if the giants someone does fall in love with Cuyler Murray or does fall in love with Dwayne Haskins. If you're not in on that, maybe you trade back. Maybe you try to get another pick somewhere. Maybe that helps you in twenty twenty when rewrite if the giants would be targeting that year. You hope they don't go three and thirteen next year. It's gonna take a lot more for them to move up. And maybe every pick counts at that point. So so if you cut Olivier Vernon. That's eleven million dollars that you get back. You get two point two and a half back from Eli. Apple you get three from Amami you get three from snacks. Now, you have room to improve your team, but also be able to afford an Zoro case keenum because now you just taken a guy that's making eighty five million dollars, whereas eighty five million dollar contract to replace him with a young control talent for the next five years. So it gives you the flexibility that was burning right, Bernie, and that gives you the flexibility also to be able to go out and make that trade it'd be at a hassle flexibility to improve your football team. I think that's the best case scenario, and I feel like the trickle down effect. We already see that Denver's saying that they're going to try and move case keenum, we know that that's not realistic. We know that's not realistic at all. All right. This is a little unusual because we usually don't take calls in the first segment of the show. I'm going to take sunny in Malvern, though. Because as I said before and if you're just tuning in, we are gonna take Aaron Boone press conference live at the bottom of the hour. So if you want to get in on your football calls, now's the time to do it sunny. What's up, buddy? How you doing? Megi thanks for taking the call. You gotta did. Plus, you know, the number by heart. So I didn't even have to give it out. I can't believe him. I say this not the craziest idea in the world bring him in as long as they understand. He's holding the clipboard for this year, obviously next year when allies gone he's the bridge quarterback. And then once they draft their quarterback that quarterback is starting right away. Because I like the idea what they did last year with all scored a backs they got draft and they started right away. And they learned on the job. I like what they did there. So I think that's the, you know, the the blueprint for going forward. So you're is not a bad one as long as they don't have to pay so much. But I think it's a good idea, you know, sunny, and I should give out the number eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six unless you don't have it tattooed somewhere on your body. Like, most of our callers, I think do, but I think. The case keenum is not just going to be out there for the giants to say your name, there's going to be competition for case keenum because I think there are a lot of teams are there will be team will be thinking the same thing as you are which is get me to that twenty twenty draft or they might be saying, hey, maybe I'll wait around for clemson's Trevor Lawrence give me to that twenty twenty one draft in case keenum could be the guy. Let's go to Ross in Westport. Hey Ross what's up? Hey, you guys are the good. Thanks for taking my call. Listen, happy to have you. What's on your mind? Let me write my head around this. Okay. So you're talking about going out there getting case keenum giants, but that deal together. And let's say he's going to cost you ten plus a year, maybe a little more, maybe a little less..

"A little bit of a holding but it was uncatchable niners loses one thirty one to thirty four in an amazing game joe flacco played unbelievable this ray lewis final game jacoby jones had the game of his life who i think should have gotten m._v._p. not joe flacco but that's my opinion and overall this game was just fun like the black after for the blackout was kind kinda boring kind of a blowout then as soon as that happened it was getting exciting all we got a football game now feel and joe flacco becoming this elite quarterback quote unquote who he lost at a leanness the next season arguably and all this he remember that huge contract he got after that game yes he got paid hand monster contract and obviously i think it was not the right call to make because of what happened afterwards he hasn't played the same sense and of course that miracle play against denver to get them to even a chance to go to the super bowl so it was one of those games where it was exciting at the very end it all came down to the final play of the game and that's that's what i love about the super bowl moments the most is when it comes down to the final seconds the final down and if they'd get it there's there's still a minute left but there's no chance in getting the ball back it was all over and i honestly thought if they ran heated a little bootleg fake the fate and ran into the end zone he would escort maybe no no no doubt in my mind cabernet is a big dude he could've ran through some guys i think he would have made it they were very closely in but i i don't know who made the offense a call but i guarantee you he still wakes up at night thinking that was the worst call to possibly make because i hate the the touchdown fades i don't know if it worked there though because the ravens were blitzing on every single down and they're putting off the edge and even in the pump faked i think of worked as well you don't pump fake well no this this was not this was not really i wouldn't say a bootleg this is a dafteng to the play titus aria where you pump fake to the fade because you've already tried it and then you run in because they were like that last play they were hogging the line because they thought it was gonna be a quarterback sneak so running outside of the pocket going looking at like they did they were rushing off the edge to prisoner but bringing the house they're bringing the house but i think cabinet should have maybe kept it we will never know but joe flacco was better quarterback in that game fragrance better team in that game bruins win the super bowl and it was just a very fun game to watch overall the next one i have is super bowl forty two giants pats for you know the reason eighteen one they were this close and i'm putting my very close to a perfect season and you member manny through that kind of led brundige duck and forget who almost picked it off there was a miss interception i don't remember who was a you know home talk you know the play i'm talking about the right the midst interception i barely office fingertips he jumped too early and if he catches that then then that patriots is known as the greatest team ever not just a what if greatest team ever type scenario and then of course the helmet catch by david tyree remember david tyree i do if he wasn't would catch me if eating catch that ball no one would know who was ever again but david harry makes that unbelievable harry helmet catch running harrison covering him like a madman as well and it was just one of those i kinda plays in non just super bowl history i think as well most iconic place in n._f._l. history and it was not the touchdown play to people think some people i talked to was a touchdown there was just a first down yeah just i him and then they did that that slant that that route by birds burn his corner man he was wide open in the end zone which got them to lee they win seventeen fourteen that last drive was the most it was.

"So I don't think long-term he'll be able to first of all stay healthy because he gets head so damn much. But also you saw the chargers they came up with a really good game plan. They just put a shitload of DB's on the field. They basically just had everybody keeping their eyes on Lamar Jackson. So soon as he got out of the pocket, you had a bunch of athletes that could run after him and almost keep up with his legs versus the traditional seven big guys with. Four defensive linemen and three linebackers or three and four hover. You want to split it? And then only four DB's where you don't have enough speed on the field to be able to keep up with him. But I thought the charges came up with a really good game plan. They did a great job from start to finish. And even when Jackson was starting to make a few plays with his feet. He doesn't throw the ball on where if they get behind. He's going to be able to bring him back, and I don't think they can count on having a number one defense every year throughout his career where they're never going to be behind. And they're just going to be able to run the ball forty times every game. Some people were calling for the put Joe flacco it. I was I was saying hey there too far behind. He's not going to be able to bring him back with only running the football. They need somebody that can sit there in the pocket and throw the ball. But here's the thing. Here's why you can't put Joe flacco. And for two reasons. Number one, you're breaking ties with Joe flacco. Everybody knows that. It was probably the reason you sat him down in the first place, which means if if you go to Joe flacco, which we've talked about it on the Tomahawk show. How could you? Then look Lamar Jackson the phases that your quarterback for next year that when you were playing bad we decided to go with the guy behind you. Because we didn't think you could get it done. Also, they're six and one with Lamar Jackson say what you want about the defense. They weren't six in one prior to that. And to be honest that stretch of games, and they were almost seventy no because they came really close to beating the cheese that stretch of games probably saved Harbaugh's job. So now hall Harbaugh you're going to bench the kid who was the star to basically help save your job in the playoff game. The biggest game of his life because he's not playing. Well, he wasn't playing. Well. But also if you look at the numbers he led the game in passing and rushing he was the highest rusher and passion the game. So we passed the more than then Philip rivers who does not play well in the playoffs and again for the rivers was going to get really good defense. So they were just deacon and Dunkin and weren't really pushing the ball down the field. But overall, I don't think he played terrible at least down the stretch. And I get that. You know, once you go down big defense is kinda lax and they kinda take their foot off the gas pedal when it becomes a little easier. But it really came down to. Two or three plays. Where bay still had a chance to score late in the game and win the football game. Overall. He has to get better he has to develop as a passer or they have to get a play caller in there that plays to his strengths a little bit more. I during the game. I was on the radio my show in ESPN. And I said that if they don't open up this playbook if they don't stop babying him from table just gonna zone read it the entire game. Then there's no way they'll win..

"Okay. Do you? But let me ask you your two cents on the decision. John Harbaugh had during the game yesterday with the chargers. Just putting the Bank thing on Lamar Jackson. Would you have gone to Joe flacco not at all to two reasons? One. When Joe was the starting quarterback, we were horrible that we weren't playing. Well, we're losing games and he gets hurt and the mar brings us to the play offs. And then to we're trying to trade him at the end of the year. And it's a bigger picture that you have to look at certain situations. I know a lot to say you have to win. Now, you have to do this. But you've already come out multiple weeks in advance saying Lamar's our quarterback and Joe's not playing anymore. What kind of sign and are you telling your team when the first line of struggle? You pull them out try to put someone else in. We haven't seen that with anyone else. And there's so many quarterbacks struggled struggled this week and weeks before this. So I I wouldn't have done it. And then the day, you know, their game plan was so simple. And this is the thing people think about actually talked about this a couple of our colleagues at the NFL network is that all week you put in a specific game plan for Lamar. And Joe wasn't a part of that Joe's not running the read option and Joe's not doing any of that. So to come out and try to stick him in and run a different offense. It's going to be so tough to do because your players are practice all week on a certain offense. And you want him. This flip the switch and go somewhere else, you'll have more mistakes. They already had a whole half of season under that offense rights. It's not like he's like riding a bike though. I mean, saying, hey, we're going back to the old offense here we necessarily because you've changed the way you block. You've changed the way, you know, with the read option you're letting one guy free all the time with a regular pro style.

"If they were still blitzing in playing man coverage like that play just happened to happen of like, I said, if if my Davis intercepts wall, we're not talking about this. He stayed aggressive. They're played man coverage. They just they just didn't get after it on that drive. But no sue came through nice speed off the edge in swatted out of his hands. So we didn't have to worry about it. But. Was a little nervous when they started moving the ball at the end there. But I felt like that like a sack would just take him out. Charge way will do it. I do not understand the willingness to I'm well aware that he just by all that everything that I've heard that he did not play well in the first half just the ravens as teamed in. But I don't understand going to Joe flacco first of all have you seen? Joe flacco Lamar playing is the re like Joe flacco is the reason that you put Lamar in the first place. So why would you take him out who is a statue by the way, and as you can see some of those places the end like that's Lamar just being an athlete by time. Flacco got crushed man. And it's now he's the greatest thrower ever. You have seen in plays. If if flacco is in the game, I feel like the charge would have been favorites. If flacco was the starting quarterback. That's how big of a difference between like what he can do for that offense. And what the market do that offense. He's just not he's not good. They're gonna cut him in the off season. That's it's dumb that just a knee jerk reaction that people would want flacco in. But yeah, he's gotta give really should be getting credit to what the charge were able to do to them, man. I don't know just charged. You really really good on defense. And I feel like we're gonna we've been saying that for the last what? It seems like the last two months or so that's what it's been like they've been a very very good defense. Even somebody somebody asked me today. Like, what are they gonna do to hide their bad run defense in over the last two months? They've actually been like a top seven run defense in the NFL. It's they're not they're not what we're used to see. That's for sure. They've they're literally are sorry. They trying to think of how to say just like, it's really just their speed. Their speed is taken over. And it's just not were used to see not what we saw last year. I don't know if it's like a health FANG of guys playing confident guys running runs the ball flying ball playing with feeding off each other. So. Would they should have run? Justin Jackson said of on that goal line play in the first quarter. I did not see it. So I don't know what happened the first quarter side miss of a whole first half somebody's going to have to chime in on that one. But speaking of equerry he had the first down like if he if he makes that first down and runs off with three minutes or the charges. Get another get a first out. We're not talking about that late. Gus Bradley fourth quarter either. It looked pretty clear that he like he had angle on getting the first down just live and then slow on directly. Like, wow, why did he go down? It seems like imagining his head. He's trying to run the clock. But I don't know if he I don't know that was just I don't know if it was a brain fart or what battery is gonna kick us to Super Bowl. He's difference maker. So even with the miss it seemed like a good. So I think batteries miss the sound sue. Super Homer, by the way. I totally get this. This seems like more of a process verse results. So he he seemed like in Baltimore. He's trying to drive these kicks low. And that's what that's how you affect the win. 'cause it was supposedly like fourteen mile an hour winds. So he drives it low, and it just so happened to block that time. But we saw it other times..
