McDonald's, Mickey D's accounted for 7% of all Russian restaurant sales in 2022, using Russian grown meat, potatoes, bread and dairy for all its food, it was in deep, but after Russia invaded Ukraine, the chain was forced to pull out, selling all locations to a local mining magnet, the revolution was over. And then all of a sudden, this huge geopolitical catastrophe happens and then they're gone, but yet the brand has been rebranded and is in new ownership now, and yet sort of still there, and now it's set to abandon 24 restaurants a nearby Kazakhstan unable to get Russian meat deliveries. When one streak ends, you start another in the NBA as Brooklyn wasted no time getting back in the win column with a one O 8 one O two win in New Orleans on Friday. Kevin Durant still getting it done after all these years as the ageless one scored 33 to lead all scoring, solid night for starter Kyrie Irving, who added 19 as well. The bench played well for the nets, Brooklyn holds down the two seed in the east thanks to 5 players who reached double figures. It took an act of Congress to head off a freight rail strike just before Christmas. Unionization efforts at some apple Starbucks Amazon and Trader Joe's locations met with mixed success and some resistance from the companies. Workers at a new General Motors LG battery plant in Ohio voted to join the United auto workers GM CEO Mary Barra told us before the vote that she had no issues. We're very supportive of the plant being unionized. Workers are paying more attention to working conditions since the pandemic and when they don't like what they see, some turn to unions. The momentum is growing. Mary K Henry heads the service employees international union, she says demographics suggest we'll see more unionization efforts as we go through 2023. Young people under 30 are the highest supporters of unions. Jeff Bellinger, Bloomberg radio. On the latest edition of the balance of our podcast, the conversation on December's jobs report with Jared Bernstein of The White House council of economic advisers. This is another in a series of very strong jobs reports. And I think it just once again underscores that the president's economic plan continues to work well on behalf of American working families and households. 10.7 million jobs since this president got here. December over December. Now we have 2022 in the books, 4.5 million jobs. That's the second largest year of job gains. Second only to the year before 2021. So unemployment at a 50 year low and so on. So I think that those are great somewhat backward looking numbers. I think if you look forward, you're talking about a year 2023 where the bipartisan infrastructure law, the inflation reduction act, the chips act, are all entering the economy, both putting further downward pressure on prices, particularly in healthcare and clean energy, creating more investment opportunities for the American workforce. There has been concern about wage inflation. We see in these numbers a little bit of amelioration in that. We're down to something like 4.6% year over year, I think, in the wages. What's the cause of that? Is that because of what the fed has done? Is that anything that The White House did a time? What's causing that? Yes, while you're seeing some of the deceleration both in job gains and wage growth, these are still very robust job numbers. 223,000, that's a great number for December. What we see now is a downshifting to a steady stable. And I'd argue sustainable growth path

"And I thought the same thing a lot actually about. I'm not comparing the two, everyone relax, even though one is a Super Bowl champion, but Joe Flacco thought the same thing where both opposing defenses were bringing a lot of heat from the secondary with a lot of their speed rushers to try to disrupt them since they're not mobile. So some of the, some of the worst plays look worse by default because of the speed differential. Yes. But it just does it like even on some of the regular balls. Like, I feel like it's wind up a little longer. I feel like the ball is just a little, it's just like we've turned into what's a good example of a power pitcher that kind of became a very good placement pitcher. Are you talking like Randy Johnson when you got reined in as his career went on? Are you talking to someone who had to change and become like the finesse guy? I mean, RA Dickey is a totally unfair comparison. That's like mean because Matt Ryan is not throwing nothing balls. Or hit the throne just end over end. Just hucking it to people. That would be, that would be cool. And I do love RA Dickey, by the way. The dixter. But I don't know. The name Brad radke keeps popping to mind. He was like a good he was like a very accurate picture. Wasn't he? He was his days Jordan lyles. He was a guy who played some baseball, but you know, and I could be wrong about this. Like I said, I'm not, I'm not an NFL quarterbacks coach. I'm not one of those guys that is able to totally analyze this. I feel like I've got a decent grasp on it. And I think that it's just sometimes you look at it, and you're like, this just doesn't, it doesn't look right. This is the second game in a row where you've completely failed to establish the best running back in the NFL. And I don't know. But good for you. And you get a muff punt. Things start coming your way. You escape with the win. I mean, Frank, look, they should have eaten the Texas week one. They're clearly better than the Texans. They outplayed in that game. They just shot themselves in the butt a couple of times. But yeah, I think that's a good summation of it. And yes, this felt like something, you know, veteran quarterbacking is a Steve's Magnolia defense. You figure you can handle some of these looks a little bit better. And it just wasn't really the case, but they did, look, they also had a touchdown drive when they needed one late. So maybe we're pointing in the right direction now. Jaguars chargers. So don't look now, Connor, but the Jaguars might be for real. Isn't that cool? Yes. This is what it should have been a year ago. Boy, I'll tell you what. If you're like Nebraska, right? And you're thinking about higher in this guy. How can you, how could you watch them torch the cults and then beat one of the best teams in the NFL? And then, and the only difference was that guy. Like, he left, and then everything's great. It's incredible.

"That kid walked in and we were going to throw him a beer. That was his reaction. Joe Flacco beat them. Oh, Joe Flacco is way better than Mitch McConnell. Oh, listen to you. I'm not kidding. He's way better, Kyle. He looked away. No. He's way better than the midstream biscuit. He beats the browns. He's like 9 two against the browns. He has something for them. But liked every week. It's better than Mitch trubisky. You don't understand what you'll see at all. No, it's not the highlights. It's the day to today the fans were chanting. I don't know if you know this. They were chanting for Kanye Pickett in the fourth quarter. But all right, it's not 6. So you love the brand. I would tell you this. It will be 6. I had trouble this week. And usually I just put a plus or minus who I think is going to be favored. I can only actually do it for 5 teams without thinking about it. You're going to beat me. I'm up one nothing, but enjoy the win. Sunday marquee game. You think I'm going to put bucks packers here. I did not. I think builds the offense is the marquee game. It's a game I'm the most excited to watch. I think it'll be a lot of offense on both sides. Little AFC east, size each other up, and I can't wait, I have the bills by four in Miami. I'm leaving the window open here. I said three, it's four and a half. Little high, little older, not. No, that's about right. Yeah. But we'll see tomorrow because the bill should thrash. It's on the road. And Miami, yeah. That's the thing. I'm telling you, man, if it's human again, in Miami and you got Tyreke and wobble. Run around doing stuff. Yeah. Not great. The watchable. So

"I think his second target wasn't until the fourth quarter, right? If I have that correct. So a lot of that stuff, you know, I think it's kind of stinks for younger quarterbacks. It's tough. Yeah? Yeah, that was the one though. That was like, this is gonna be a long day for him. And the forty-niners had the lead. But yeah, they couldn't put points on the board, and they kept on hitting Justin Fields after he started sliding, and Justin Fields put together enough plays to steal one for the bears, so good for him. Sorry, bears fans. Ravens, jets. All right, we will wrap up with, I guess, contract year, Lamar Jackson. Going to New York and defeating his old, I don't know, what do you got? Superior quarterback, the man he once backed up, Joe Flacco, on the other side of the ball. And Raven's pretty comfortably won this one. Yeah, the only, yeah. I mean, this was the day of weird quarterback revenge games. Maybe you could say, like one sided quarterback revenge games. Whoever was doing the pre game reporting for the jets, they were like, you know, and John Harbaugh said there's no added animosity playing against his former quarterback. And I was thinking about it. It took me almost 5 minutes. I'm thinking, who the hell is he talking about? Because it was such a long time ago. You know? And I was like, oh, they talked about Joe Flacco? Is that really a storyline that we're exploring for the start of this game? It's like Joe Flacco's like a friend that John Harbaugh lost touch with after high school, you know, and then they just see each other because they're both home for Thanksgiving. And then it's like, oh yeah, yeah, that guy, you know? And then they're both driving home from the same restaurant. They were at and they're like, God, I remember that guy. I wonder what he's doing. That's the kind of relationship I would assume that they have right now. There's no, and let's not even try to make this a thing. Animosity holy cow. Yeah, I don't have a whole lot of take on this on this game here, Connor. The ravens, I don't know, it was good to see the Raven secondary kind of look like a Raven secondary, which was not the case last year. But other than that, this kind of played out as we thought it would. Yeah. One little spicy moment I saw sauce gardener just like knock over Mark Andrews, which I thought was a pretty cool thing for a rookie to do. Like you'd want to do that on your first NFL game to kind of show everyone you're one of the, one of the tough guys, but yeah, other than that, I mean, this went pretty much how you'd expect it to go. I would say that the jets defense kind of hung tough for two and a half quarters. But and Lamar Jackson really didn't do a whole lot with his legs, which I think again is, you know, if you don't have to.

"Season opener. I think that's all going to depend on what happens here with the surgery. And the feedback we get from the doctors working with is up and gathering all the information before we even come remotely close to making that decision. But yeah, that's all valid and something that we're all talk about once we get all the information we need. It's a veteran Joe Flacco as well as David white who is there. John stash now our Bloomberg sports, John. No, John, thanks very much. It is 6 38 on Wall Street. It's time to take a look at some of the stocks, some of the names that are moving in the pre market this morning. After that, if we joined by Bloomberg's Tatiana darier, and Tatiana, I thought the meme stock I was through with that, but apparently not, the most actively traded Bed Bath & Beyond this morning. Exactly, Ben Beth and beyond still on fire among the meme stocks they are up about 8% the pre market. Now we $1 a $1 billion valuation, the company has. And it has gained just looked at the past two weeks. It now has gained 157% or more than doubling its share price, but you know, this is a company that is struggling with liquidity. They certainly doesn't have great fundamentals is one of the triple C rated companies as well. That means it is going to suffer because of higher interest rates. So this rally certainly not on fundamentals. It is part of a revival and a comeback of meme stocks. And that, to me, tells me that this is a fed communication problem. So the policy makers need to make clear that higher interest rates are coming because the rally in the stock market and especially in the meme stock is getting out of control here. If you are involved in any way in commodities, you're glued to the story coming out of China. China, the second largest economy, a slowdown, and we're seeing that this morning in some of the stocks on the move, right? Exactly. Yeah, well, we're seeing a Freeport Mac Moran won the companies that is most impacted in the pre market at trading down about a 4% there, but we're also if you look at the peers Barry gold Newman mining also down about 2%. That's on the China story after that disappointing data we saw retail sales industrial output investment all slowed in the month of July and missed economists estimates and that is sort of weighing on the global economic outlook and weighing on markets broadly this morning, but perhaps more on minors and industrials because they're more sensitive to the China story to the economic story to the global growth story. So not perhaps not surprising to see them underperform there and they're the ones to watch in today's trading. I'd always pleasure appreciate it to Bloomberg's Tatiana darier with some of the stocks that are moving in the pre market. And ahead of the cash open on Wall Street, seeing futures right now, they are lowered. So risk off day, Dow futures right now down 177 points. Decline right now of about half a percent. S&P, many futures down 22 points. That's down half a percent. And the tech heavy NASDAQ futures 51 points lower down about four tenths of the percent. In the commodity space, we're seeing lower crude oil this morning nymex crew down four and a half percent at 87 $90

"The Arizona Cardinals through the 2028 season, he'll be 31 years old by then. Also, Kyler Murray is now the second highest paid quarterback by average yearly earnings. He's making on average $46.1 million a year. Now look, I do not mind Arizona giving Kyler Murray a big contract. In fact, I'm happy for the guy, like ran himself. I'm like, wow, he just got paid generational wealth. That's cool. That's exciting. I think you could argue he's already made life-changing money, but now it's like a whole nother level. Holy crap, his children's children are not going to have to work. It's incredible. And I ask you, for anyone, I myself am very skeptical of this contract. I go right really? Kyler Murray, that much money like I'm even in that boat, but I want to counter even my own thinking and say, well, let's pause and ask. You know, what are the Arizona Cardinals without Kyler Murray? And how easy is he to replace? I mean, look, there are some exciting quarterbacks in college football right now. But there's just not a lot of Kyler Murray's running around the league and I will say I don't think he's earned this contract yet. I think based on what he's done in his three years as an NFL quarterback. I don't see a guy who's worth $230.5 million. That seems absurd. However, as the years go on, he might eventually earn that money. He's super talented. I think he's one of the more talented quarterbacks in the NFL with his ability to run around. He's got a massive arm, but I just, I have a hard time going, yeah, this guy, Kyler. He should be the second highest paid quarterback by yearly average in the NFL. I just don't, I have a hard time feeling that way. What's going to be really interesting is in 5 to 7 years when we look back on this contract, are we going to go um, you know, they overpaid Kyler Murray, or are we going to say, okay, that makes sense. Is it kind of like when Baltimore paid Joe Flacco at massive contract? I mean, that one didn't work out at all. So we'll see. I'm really excited as time goes on to see how kyla Murray plays to see what Arizona does. And they kind of determine whether or not he ends up earning the money he's getting paid. You know, I will say, Kyler Murray's playoff loss to the rams in January. I think it was in January. It was really embarrassing. He appeared to lack leadership and he kind of wilted in a really big moment when you need your quarterback to show up. It would be really, really hard for me to give a guy I watched do that, not have leadership and really not show up in the biggest moment of the year. To give that guy $230.5 million. That feels a bit absurd, feels a bit hard for me. I'm trying to remember that it's a different NFL now and there's more money than ever before. Every quarterback from here on out that gets paid is going to be making more money than you can even imagine. It's just a different era of the NFL, but I'm still having a hard time accepting that.

"I got a fun idea. Should I do it? Should I do the fun thing? Of course you do. Let's see the fun thing. I'll be right back. To a baby, let's go. Things just keep getting more and more interesting in Miami tool was 27 for 33 passing in this game. He had 273 yards, two Dutch towns. He did have an interception, but in Miami, they've won three games in a row now. Two had a long, awesome touchdown pass for 65 yards to Mac hollins. This is one of the better games of two his career. And I just want to say, as a to a fan, I get it. I love the guy. I'm still not sold whether he's the franchise quarterback of the dolphins or not. I don't know whether they're going to brace them. I don't know whether they're going to build a random. I just like the guy. But I'm really curious to see how the rest of the year plays out for two of because it seems like to as progressing and getting better and better every week and building off of small success after small success after small success, and I thought he was better this week than he was two weeks ago against the ravens and it's just cool to see man. Now dolphins also, the dolphins have two young rookies, they have javon Holland, who is an awesome safety. They've got jaylen wad who's playing great. I just think there's something exciting going on in Miami. They've won three games in a row and I really want to see how the rest of the year goes for Miami. Now, the jets. I thought that Joe Flacco, the jets veteran quarterback who they traded for a couple of weeks ago, funny played really, really well, and there were some controversy whether the jets were right to make them their starter for this game or not. I thought he totally justified that move. He played very, very well, it makes to absolute sense why the jets made him their starting quarterback. He's a veteran. He handled the defense of Miami very, very well. And finally, I want to say this about the jets. They've got this rookie receiver Elijah Moore. He had a great day. He had 8 catches with a 141 yards and a touchdown, this dude is a stud, and if Zach Wilson hits, who is the quarterback they drafted number two overall, they also drafted alignment Elijah verret Tucker. And that allows you more in the second round. The jets draft class is fantastic if Zach Wilson does land and Elijah more a second round pick has been a home run right now. He's one of the best rookie receivers. I mean, he's up there. He's competing with guys who are incredible. But I really think that Elijah Moore is playing very, very well. And it's an underreported story, how well Elijah Moore is playing right now for the New York Jets. So guys, those are my thoughts on NFL week 11. I want to take the Jersey off. Give me one second. But those are my thoughts again on NFL week 11. Okay, let's now talk about college football. There are three games from this weekend. I want to talk about first is this..

listening to masters and business on Bloomberg radio My extra special guest this week is Edwin Conway He is the global head of black rocks alternative investors group which manages over $300 billion in client assets BlackRock's alternatives group covers such various sectors as real estate infrastructure hedge funds private equity and credit So let's talk a little bit about this recent restructuring You were first named global head of black rock alternative investors In April 2019 the entire alternatives business was restructured tell us a little bit about how that restructuring is going Continues to go really well Barry When you look at the flow of assets from our clients I think hopefully that speaks to the performance we've been generating I joined the firm as you know old BS 11 years ago and been very close to the alternatives franchise was a critical thing for me in running the institutional platform To me when you watched this migration of assets towards alternatives it was obviously very evident for decades now that this is a critical leg of the stool as our clients are thinking about their portfolios We're continuing to innovate We're continuing to invest and thankfully we're continuing to deliver strong performance We're growing at about high double digits on an annual basis But we're trying to be purposeful to around where that growth is coming from I think the reality is when you look at the competitive universe I think the last number I saw it was about 38,000 alternative asset managers out there today Obviously coming from hedge funds all the way to private credit and private equity So competition is real and I do think the outcomes for our clients are starting to really grow unfortunately in some cases obviously very good In some cases actually not raise So our focus is really much on how can we deliver performance How can we be a partner and I think we've been rewarded with the trust and the faith our clients having us because they're seeing something different I think from us The scale of the business that you mentioned earlier really gives us tentacles into the market that I believe allows us to access But I think is the new alpha which is in many respects given the heft of competition sourcing and originating new investments is certainly harder but for us sitting in or having our alternatives team sitting in 50 offices around the world really investing in the markets because that's the market they grew up with and have relationships within I think this network value that we have is something that's quite special And I think in a world that's becoming increasingly competitive we're going to continue to use and harness that network value to pursue opportunities and thankfully as a result of the partnership we've been pursuing with our clients like we've certainly looking for opportunities and investments in our funds but because of the brand I think because of the successes opportunities seeks us as much as we seek opportunity and that has been something that we look at in an ongoing basis and feel very privileged to actually have that inbound flow as well Really really quite interesting There was a quote of yours I found while doing some prep for this conversation that I have to have you expand on Quote the relationship between BlackRock's alternative capabilities and wealth firms marked a large opportunity for growth in the coming years This was back in 2019 So the first part of the question is was your expectations correct Did you did you see the sort of growth you were hoping for and more broadly how large of an opportunity is alternatives not just for black rock but for the entire investment industry Yeah It's been very much an institutional opportunity says Up until now And there's so much to be done still to really democratize alternatives and we certainly joke around making alternatives less alternative Actually even the nomenclature we use and how we describe it doesn't kind of make sense anymore It's such a core an important allocation to our clients fiery that just calling it alternative seems wrong I just think about the institutional clients It ranges I think as I mentioned on our some of our more conservative clients which would be pension plans which really have liquidity needs on a monthly basis because of the liabilities they have to think about At about 25 plus percent and private markets to endow foundation family offices going to 50% plus So it's a really important part and has been for now many years The institutional client communities outcomes I think the thing that we as an industry have to change is alternatives has to be for the many not for the few And quite frankly it's been for the few Coming up we continue our conversation with Edwin Conway global head of BlackRock alternative investors discussing the state of alternatives today You're listening to masters in business with Barry ritholtz on Bloomberg "Okay, so there's a reason why if, you know, you win a Super Bowl or if a quarterback a famous quarterback like Peyton Manning Tom Brady both known for this. You know, they go win a Super Bowl. They go get an MVP. What happens? They go and buy their entire offensive line something. Because they know they can they could not have done it without those 5 guys in front of them. Running backs who, you know, break 2000 Derek Henry, great running back. Without that run blocking in front of them, I promise you he's not got a thousand yards rushing already. You know what I mean? This is how it is. Johnson Taylor right now is getting 5.5 yards per carry so far this season. And if it wasn't for the run blocking in front of them, he'd be lucky to get four yards of carry. It's just how the NFL works. And people are so, you know, right off the bat, looking at those individual players and those prime spots at the running back or the quarterback or something of that nature, and not want to give the credit where a lot of that credit should be due because like you said, Joe Flacco wouldn't have won that Super Bowl without a good offensive line. Would not have won a Super Bowl without no veg strength. He knows too. He goes, too. Yeah, exactly, right? So, I mean, you've got to give credit to these guys occasionally. And I love the fact that a lot of people, a lot of content creators like you and I, we will do that occasionally. We're like, you know what? Had he not picked up that blitz in the time that he in that timely fashion that he did with had his head on a swivel and picked it up. This quarterback would not have had time to find that open receiver and hit him for that game winning touchdown. You know? It's very, very simple, quick thing. How much do you think? So I hate fantasy football. And if you have sponsors or even football say nothing. But I abhor fantasy football. It's the way that it's brewing. I think the way a lot of people look at the game, we focus on stats and numbers and the things that are sexy and not on the context that would actually win football games. And I just think in so many ways, I maybe I'm a purist I don't know how to put a better way.

"He can win by throwing. Yeah but like. I feel like i said i feel like he. He puts his team in that scenario where they have to be like that because he runs when he shouldn't run. I remember explicitly. It was a third down in that game in. He ran for for three yards. He had nowhere to go running the ball. He had way better chance throwing the ball but he was really opened. There was people wide open. Mark injures was just on a coral route right there. And you just disregarded and try to run and i'm like yeah i mean well the decision making argument it makes a little sense. I'm not. he's no aaron rodgers thrown the ball. That goes without saying. But i'm not arguing that he's the best in the league but i definitely think he's in the elite here and other than a couple of guys i think you can. He has a good case for being better than any of them in like with their argument with like the braun. And the cavs. i think. That's more russell wilson. I think russell wilson absolutely carrying his team. I don't know i think. If you put other quarterbacks in In the ravens i feel like they would be d says well i mean i feel like lamar. I dunno offenses so tailored for his. Yeah i mean yeah. That's the thing is like they're they're decent with joe flacco but when they have lamar and it was kind of a different thing But i i. Don't i don't know i like i think he's not a russell wilson. I think i definitely lifestyle or values team value to his team. I don't know i. I think he's not a russell wilson. I think that he kind of hurts them in also helps them if he gets. I just think it comes down to his decision. Making with which mainly primarily is like with the running his when he decides sarojini decides to throw. But yeah. I think that because normally with quarterbacks elite quarterbacks they always looked throw it they don't look to run first the and that's what separates them and i i don't know i just feel like if he has his better decision-making than he'll be an quarterback but for now i don't know i don't. I haven't heard time without owner's time to. He's still only twenty four years old so that decision-making could could come. I mean that's a fair knock i. I don't think it takes him out of the elite here but if you're arguing against him that's probably the right thing to point to and i just wanna quickly. We'll probably go into next week but My front runner for mvp right now just in herbert. His carter's is lamar jackson. So there's that. I just want to throw that out there And yeah just you know this hit us up and think think of your opinions on our argument and who had fair argument and i feel like we both had a decent argument. I feel like it could go either. Certainly arguable subject. That's what we gotta keep finding everywhere exactly. I think the next one is justin. Herbert versus patrick mahomes. Which is i'm coming off my stansell juicy though that's the thing coming off my stance a little bit so that chiefs game. I don't think it would have been better. But now it's it has less to do with the chiefs game and more to do with what herbert's doing. It's hard to take anybody over him for the future right now..

"And so Trevor didn't play very much. He did have an awesome throw to Marvin Jones on a deep corner great catch by Marvin Jones. That'll be fun connection to watch as a year goes on. There's not no weapons in Jacksonville but I think they're more of a team that's going to be exciting rather than a team that's going to be competitive. And there it is. It's still good that the Jaguars are going to be fun to watch. I just don't know that that's going to lead to them winning a lot of games this year either. Now as we move to pre season week two there is a couple things I want to recommend you can look forward to watching. First of all on Thursday you have the Patriots at the eagles. You get to watch more Mac Jones to patriots rookie quarterback. By the way the eagles quarterback situation is very very interesting. You have Jalen hurts. Obviously the starting quarterback there. And then you have Joe Flacco and Nick Mullins behind him. And they're the two backups that have played it's where they've played more and started more NFL games Nick mullens angel Flacco each individually than Jalen hurts ever has and his NFL career. And so by the way here's a weird thought..

"I mean, if you take just that rookie season into account that's one of That's one of the best. Rookie quarterback seasons of all time. It's not great, like, you know, Better office, Burger went 15 and one and went to an NFC championship game as a rookie. Joe Flacco played an NFC championship game as a rookie. I'm talking about if you go by The numbers. From week one through the end of the year. There are few guys that have been better. Russell Wilson. Baker. Mayfield was pretty good his rookie year. I mean, he Originally the plan there was to have Tyrod Taylor play. Herbert was going to wait. I mean, didn't at Oregon. I didn't think his, you know his numbers in blow you away. But that might have been the lead. He was playing it and who we had around them, but anyways I think Herbert Is going to very quickly become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. And there's always seems to be something with the Chargers. But on paper, I think that there They're a playoff team on paper. Derwin James comes back. The Chargers are a playoff team on paper. For whatever reason. Derek Carr played his best football against the Chiefs last year. He beat him at Arrowhead. Kansas City had to make a miraculous comeback to beat. The Raiders in Vegas. And then the thing is that's going to loom over not only the chiefs but the rest of the A, F C and really the rest of the NFL in all of football. Is what happens with Aaron Rodgers. And the team he gets connected to in a trade the most is Denver. Now I think it's becoming more and more likely. That if If Rodgers Is really serious about this. That he will not He won't He won't get his wish. There's not going to be a trade before the start of the season. That I can almost that I feel like you can almost say with 100% certainty between now and weak one. Aaron Rodgers is not gonna Force the Packers. He's not going to have them He's going to be able to control them into trading him. Before the season starts. I think Aaron Rodgers has to bank on and this is if I were his agent. I would tell him this If you really I can't talk you out of it. If you really are convinced that you're done with the Packers, and that they've either embarrassed you or disrespect you do one too many times. And we can't reconcile. There's no way we kiss and make up if that's honestly how you feel. Then what we're going to do here is take Your situation will take it into the season. We won't report And then let's see what the Packers do. If the Packers are winning And they were right about Jordan Love. If that happens. Then they can let Aaron Rodgers just sit there. You know, they can be like all right, Erin. You don't want to be a part of this team. You can, pal. You can sit out. We're fine without you. If If the Packers and are at the Packers are wrong about love. And he comes in and he stinks and he's over his head. And he's not cut out to be an NFL quarterback, or at least he doesn't show signs of that. In the first half of this season. Then one of two things could happen, and I think they're both good for Aaron Rodgers. The Packers get desperate. And they start to talk to him. Okay? What? What would we need to do to get you back playing? Maybe That's where some of the contractual money Conversations that Some believe Rogers is angling for Maybe some of that gets done then. Because the Packers feel the pressure. They're not going to win with love. They need Aaron Rodgers. So either that and Rogers comes back to Green Bay, and he forgets everything because he's got, you know a bigger bankroll. Or The Packers are like, Well, crap. We've got this huge asset that everybody wants in a tray. Not everyone, but a few teams want to trade We got to get something back for him. Instead of him just sitting there and us not recouping or You know, we can You know, the Packers could get a couple of first round picks and maybe a player for Aaron Rodgers. So That's probably if he's serious about this, and it's not all Exaggerated in Something that we've dramatized If Rogers is really serious about His heart feelings with Green Bay. And I think he takes things into the season. Denver would still probably be the team. John Elway's done. It didn't trade but he brought in. Peyton Manning had success won a Super Bowl. If the Chiefs eventually got to get their way through NFC West. It is Justin Herbert, Aaron Rodgers and Derek Carr in it, like.

Philadelphia Eagles sign QB Joe Flacco to baffling contract
"All these teams that i feel like or at least maybe all of them but some of them have gotten better and you're competing against all those teams to win the super bowl and the eagles are finding joe. Flacco like you have to compare what the eagles are doing to other teams in the league. I don't see how they're progressing at all. And i think other teams are getting better or at least you know if they're really good they're staying the same. Just don't get it jimmy. I ending every point with. I don't get it better matt on that. All well said all right point number seven years the play. They're going to tank lose a lot of games anyway. So that's good. It's it's bad because if go black the why would you pay him. Three point five million. Then if if that's the idea that he's gonna lose a lot of games to play. Then why would you. Why would you pay him anything like why would you even bring them in. So i don't get that just from that logical standpoint to begin with and the deal only gets worse if he plays probably because i'm guessing some of those incentives not necessarily the seven point five. But i'm going to guess like one point five. I'm going to say it's at least like five billion if he plays you know a reasonable amount of time then like you're watching this guy play. The team sucks presumably. And like it's only like the future of the team is only getting worse. I mean you might be losing games and that's good for a job pick but like you're losing money losing cap space that could be rolled over the next year. You're wasting your lighting it on fire to watch joe flacco play. Who isn't even like an entertaining player. Right it's not like they signed a guy who is bad but like he can kind of do some things and leg. It's of fun bad. It's just like a very boring aesthetically unpleasing. What's hey great. You know scrub quarterback was never good and he doesn't deserve to be mocked and good for him for getting the deal that he got personally. I think he is agent. Did a good job. i guess trying to There's reportedly that the forty niners were also involved. And maybe that's why he got what he got with the eagles which i mean. The eagles shouldn't have cared. If there's other teams involved should have just passed the number. I but anyway it's been a long way. It's been a long way since. Joe flacco was even remotely close to being a desirable quarterback last six years and twenty six and thirty seven record a combined. Six point four yards per attempt over that six years fan six point four yards per attempt over six year span is not good last two years. Where the only two years he spent away from baltimore signed a one year deal in denver. You went to and four. They're moved onto the jets. Last season went owen for completion percentage in front of me with his fifty five percent or something like that point to and he had a qb rating. I think of like eighty point. Two eighty eight eighty twenty and then. I didn't have this but in your post on him. Philadelphia Eagles Sign Super Bowl 47 MVP Joe Flacco
"Big news coming out of philly. Yesterday joe flacco agreeing to a contract with the eagles. It's a one year deal. Three and a half million dollars. Guaranteed the opportunity to win. Four million more in incentives. Now what does this mean. As far as the eagles and their draft plans remember. They only have one quarterback on the roster until this and that's jalen hurts and they have the six pick in the draft and as you see mel kiper junior and his latest mock has been taking the superstar receiver tamar chase from lsu which would be awfully knife or any quarterback that they have there but so does this mean mel again. It is not your expectation mel with us field. Yates as well here today. It does this mean and again. You're you're mock has them taking chase anyway but the signing flacco does that in your view. Close the door on any possibility that they draft a quarterback at number six. I think they would even going in before flacco. You think about. Joe flacco wise ian eagle thinking about the baltimore raven connection with the philadelphia eagles. Joe douglas and joe flacco who drafted where the want super bowl with the baltimore ravens. So there's that always that connection you can always go to. Guys are picked up later in their career. So for joe. Douglas bringing in a joe flacco you think about what he was doing with the jets in terms of the situation there. And then you've got the philadelphia eagles their same type of thing that raven connections. So i think when you look backing up jalen hurts right now. I don't think he's a threat. I think jalen that guy get jomar chase and go four with him and help jalen hurts and then reassess after the year's over that's what they will do that influence with the raven organization in philadelphia as a factor. I think it's a factor throughout the green and there always is joe. Flacco is a good backup came in the league. Same your matt ryan did and that ryan slow playing great football of course super bowl but Joe flacco did. But i think it's a good situation to have joe flacco there behind. The jalen hurts. Jalen hurts gets hurt. Your season's not over joke and still play. But i think this is jalen team right now. I thought it was carson wentz's team that didn't work out. But i think if you get your march help jalen hurts and then you make your decision air to this year whether in the twenty twenty two draft you have to think about drafting. A young quarterback failed. Same question to you. Does this mean in your mind that the eagles are out of the quarterback market at six. It does not greedy in. Here's a simple reason. Why i agree with everything else that i'm going to double back to that in just a moment. I just have long believed that if you are convinced. A player can be a franchise quarterback that if he's available at six. You have to at least consider it. If you're philadelphia. Now that being said all the indications this offseason from the previous reporting from more about the eagles plan to build around jalen hurts this year plus the signing of joe flacco which at least gives them a veteran option at the very least relatively modest priced by the way three point five million dollars. There are so many signs at the plan. This year is to find ways to make jalen hurts better so i still believe that ultimately the eagles are gonna be in prime position to land one of the best pass catchers in this year's draft a quarterback should not be entirely ruled out. And that's just me having seen the league long enough to know that sometimes teams do things the catch us by surprise even if they should not have caught us by surprise

Dallas Cowboys Reach Multi-Year Deal With Star Quarterback Dak Prescott
"Salary cabin number for two thousand and twenty one is going to be twenty two point two million dollars all right now. Head dak prescott. In franchise tag again this will happen in a procedural sense but had to cow tried to go at this with dak prescott on the franchise tag for the two thousand and twenty one season. We've talked about this a number of times. That value would have been thirty. Seven point seven million dollars so the fact that the cow is now have him onto the books. We're talking about the value that is on the books in the books. However you want to look at the books whether they're e books or physical books whatever the case may be that value is now twenty two point two million dollars now. I know that we have all said some things about the dallas cowboys but they are not complete dummies. They surely budgeted for the franchise tag value. Because let's be honest. They came about twenty four hours. We think you know. Close to having the actually placed the franchise tag and maybe carried out with that prescott. So the cowboys have room for the franchise tag at the very least so you look at that quake matt that adam schefter was kind enough to do for you. That is fifteen point. Five million dollars that the dallas cowboys suddenly have because they've got this long term deal with that prescott. This is something that we've been saying for two years now. If you do this you can. You can kick this down the road. You can prorate it you can extended you can whatever term you want to put on it. You can spread the impact of the deal out of the signing bonus of the overall guaranteed money out over the lives of the contract so it doesn't hit you all at once. That's the one killer about the franchise tag is that it is fully and completely guaranteed in franchise tag is a one year deal so the value of it last year and dak prescott was on the tag for thirty one point. Four million dollars. The two thousand twenty dallas cowboys had to absorb that value all at once and they would have had to have done it again. Here in two thousand and twenty one but because they have adjusted that they now have fifteen and a half million dollars that they were seemingly budgeting for dak prescott that now they can apply to different areas. Maybe it is a safety. Maybe it's a defensive end. Maybe it's a defensive tackle. Maybe it's you know an offensive tackle. But they want swing tackled death whatever the case may be. We know that the cowboys obviously hold the tenth overall. Pick in the draft. They could go a number of different directions there. They wanna cornerback kayla farther patrick's retain do wanna take one of the tackles and rashawn slater as all this is. This is setting up and this is an important thing. I want you to hear me here and watch me here. You cannot waste this money. If dallas cowboys the whole point and getting this done with thac prescott besides obviously establishing having the best player on your team for the foreseeable future the point in doing this is to alleviate the salary cap space now. And i don't like the term when now if you watch us often you know that but you look state of the nfc east. It is by sudha. I mean the philadelphia. Eagles are a disaster. The new york giants doping daniel jones is legitimate. The washington football team has a great team but is void of the most important position of the game and a quarterback. Maybe they'd get somebody this cycle as we all expect quarterbacks to change teams at a higher rate than usual but the case in point is at the dallas cowboys are now. We're going to see this all day on tuesday by the way and we'll talk about it of course but they're going to be overwhelming favorites to win the nfc streit and you think about the conference that they plan is really a contender in the nfc. And i mean that with all due respect to the reigning champion tampa bay buccaneers. But you've got the bucks you've got the green bay packers and then who scares you. May maybe the rams you believe in matthew stafford but the point is thinking about the afc. I mean the. Afc has the bills and the ravens and the chiefs and the titans and the steelers and the browns. I mean you could go. A number of different ways. Did the colts have carson. Wentz ends up getting his act together and so the cowboys play in the weakest division in the weaker conference and so now they have this opportunity to really kind of take their future in the here and now they have fifteen and a half million dollars that they weren't necessarily planning on having use it and if they don't use it it is all for not so i mean we are all imploring the dallas cowboys to ultimately use this salary cap space. This is a very very very luxurious gift. That they now have been afforded that they didn't previously have so shattered of course to the dallas cowboys. Let's see here let's move. I'm i wanna talk of course about the bonus the dak prescott because well. It's stupid large. I mean it's amazing. Dak prescott has now the largest signing bonus in the nfl. You look at joe flacco. Once upon a time. Got forty million. Dollars matt ryan forty six and a half. Remember if you're on the fence about this value. We've talked about this before as well. Matt ryan became the first quarterback in nfl history to average over. He had thirty but to average at least thirty million dollars per year with his new contract that he signed with the atlanta falcons in two thousand and eighteen. That was three years ago. Dak prescott signed a four six year. Deal whatever you wanna call it. That was three years ago. They matt ryan signed that he was the first quarterback to hit the thirty million dollars a year. Mark prescott just hit forty but the reality and we've been saying this forever is that there are so many deals coming around the bend. Josh allens gotta get paid. Lamar jackson's gotta get paid. Baker mayfield's got to get paid extra calories. He's going to get paid the year after that. It's going to be time for joe burrow to finally get paid and when all of those players get paid this forty million dollars a year. Mark the dak prescott got this one hundred twenty six million dollar. Total guaranteed is sixty six million dollar signing bonus all these things that are currently the top of the nfl. The most in nfl history. That's the verbiage in determining that you're hearing associated with this and it's all literally true but it's all going to get pushed down because all of these players on this list. Joe flacco matt ryan matthew stafford at fifty million signing bonus. Aaron rodgers fifty. Seven and a half russell wilson not going to be a dallas cowboy now by the way sixty five million dollars. Dak prescott topped that all of these quarterbacks in all likelihood we'll top that that's the reality of the nfl things are always moving in one direction. It is up

And you know you don't wanna be afraid of the moment. I like that. They got through that last week that you can throw that out. They come out fast. It's supposed to be 45 45% chance. It snows which could slow down. Lamar a little bit, You know, they just all about the run game. I was looking up Josh Allen's first ever game in the NFL play. The Ravens lost 47 3. It was Joe Flacco is still I'm sure he's gonna remember that he's only played the Ravens twice. Last year. We point it was a closer game. They lost by a touchdown. That was obviously with Mark Jackson. You know, no 59% chance of snow. That's that could be huge. And those bills friends are out there. Like like I know there will be 7500 bills found was like 50,000. They're already telling you right now, right now four in the morning, but tailgating whatever it is. So they'll be ready. I'm would only take the bills on the Moneyline like the short 1 51 40 whatever it is when you were back in New York. Did you want to be part of that those mafia to calls for me, But I would have gone for a playoff game like this. You know why not Once in a lifetime. I'm gonna tell them you get to see my cheese. Please stop wearing the O. J jersey.

"To get some fresh blood new eyes a GM to take over And for John Elway and his 10 years of the helm. Some really high highs and some pretty low lows. And some embarrassments but also some incredible successes. And that's why it will always be a pretty complicated legacy for John Elway in the front office. As GM. Over the Broncos. Here's your phone number, 855 to 1 to four. CBS. I get 855 to 1 to 4 to 27 or on Twitter, DEA on CBS morass. How would you qualify? John Elway's GM? Well, when I hear John Elway's G, and the first thing that comes to mind is Paxton Lynch or Joe Flacco. We thought he still had something left. And ultimately I think that's just because we are in a what have you done for me lately? And I think as you bring up The whole point of becoming a general manager on the football team is to bring a Super Bowl trophy home. And John Elway admits one of the craziest free agency wounds of all time gets Peyton Manning to come to Denver and Peyton Manning ultimately wins that Super Bowl gets them to two Super Bowls. And in the end John Elway has 10 years is the general manager, and they do have five division titles so In what has always been a very competitive division. If your GM tenure over 10 years has a 50% hit rate, although it was all early on division titles and you win a Super Bowl. Yes, well, it's a mixed bag. I think if you take a step away, wait a year, two years, three years to look back on Elway's a GM get over the fact that is a quarterback. He couldn't find the right quarterback to replace Peyton. He still got him there and Peyton Manning in Denver. I mean, that is a huge part of Bronco history. He won a Super Bowl, so I think In the end, it does have to be considered success. And you don't win a Super Bowl just by bringing and Peyton Manning got to do a lot of other things, so that also has to go on his resume. He ended up signing the smart defensive players to help transition the team into a defensive, steady team. Ended up firing John Fox when it probably wasn't the easiest thing to do. They've got to the post season of the Super Bowl with him. He helps bring in Gary Kubiak, who seems to have that perfect touch with that 2015 team. So we did it. He did it and the Paxton Lynch thing and the Joe Flacco thing and all of the quarterback things that Trevor Simeon thing the broadcast Wyler thing. That's part of it, too interesting legacy for John Elway in Denver. He steps aside and we'll see who the Broncos end up bringing in. They've got an interesting ownership situation that might scare away some G M's. They've gone through this bizarre bull and family power struggle over their ownership. And so can they land the best GM knowing that that whole things hanging over them, and perhaps they'll have to sell. The team will see an interesting off season for the Broncos. No doubt when we come back here on the show your best audio of the day. In the NFL. Justin Herbert reacts the firing of his head coach. The Jaguars owner discusses firing Doug Marone. And Howie Roseman discusses what's going on with Carson, Wentz and Philly..

Eli Manning and the Hall of Fame: The case for and against
"Ally manning thing announced his retirement on Wednesday retiring after sixteen seasons. He's thirty nine years old The giants quarterback who was of course supplanted by Danny dimes. This year but was a rock for for many years is now heads into retirement and it makes sense Meena In fact as a New York I all my friends are giant spans. I was on a tax change just the day before this news broke. And we're talking about that. Allies GonNA retire probably soon. Because when you look at the landscape with all these older quarterbacks on the market and what allies allies been doing the last couple of years. It never made sense that he was going to find a place to start games or perhaps he didn't want to be a backup. So this all made sense but still it. It is the end of an era in New York. I would love nothing more to come in here and defy I. I think what you all know. I'm about to say about Eli Manning I should not be wh- down calls US football cools right. Yeah I would love to say you know what guys you can't tell the story of football without Eli Manning which by the way why why is he the only person who gets that benefit say that about anyone else other than Eli. There's a lot of guys you can't tell the story of football without Aaron Hernandez put them in the hall of fame or if you want to look at pat super we were both. I mean they don't want any of them without dont`a hightower that's a holiday thing. Greg is compared. Eli Manning to know first. Ten Sahal Hyphen reductionist could be just one thing. You consider about a candidate quite well the few want ally in the holly. It's either two cases. One one is longevity. which is I think? A lot of people throw out. Because there's just too many guys who would get in by that and then the other is the two super bowls in the story thing. That's just not about how I would define it. It just becomes an argument. About how do you define the hall of fame. I think in my case against him has always been and yeah. I've been making this case for probably eight or nine years. So this is how long he's been average He's just been averaged entire career. Average in completion percentage yards per attempt. He's actually really way. Below average in the law of the interception categories passer rating these average. He's just for the time he entered the league to the time he left the league. He was an average quarterback over or that span. I I still don't like that being the conversation though when he retired. I we've had this argument so many times that I think we're just tired of it like we've said everything that there is to say about. Eli Manning in the Hall of Famer Eli Manning in general that. I actually was annoyed almost yesterday that that's the conversation when a really great player who was a big part of the league in you know no matter whether he was a top five quarterback no he never was maybe in two two thousand eleven. I went through it once. I think I had him at a top five quarterback one year top ten quarterback only one other your. Yeah that's not the hall of fame but like immediately the second he retires. The entire conversation is like the start of the public hall of fame. Talk which is GONNA be. Never any people are so confident about what's going to happen you don't I know what's going to happen becoming. We were like you know he will be in. It's like you don't know that I think the manning name like this is not a new thought but just that we've talked about royalty and stuff that he's sort of this. NFL Family fixture that. The people voting for this. I think they're gonNa Push Eli Manning right in not maybe. CBS voters down. The conversation depends on who he's against. Though you're really does. Conversation will be never ending for five years then going in. I'm sorry I don't listen you. Everybody discounts counting stats and cory will get too caught up or only point at the two rings and the two superbowl. MVP's but I just think there's something that'd be so if he didn't win those super bowls he's he's not he's not going to have him. I get that but there's something to be said and it's always been feel overlooked both on this podcast aspect in general. Because Eli can be a target. I feel like on twitter that the giants drafted him or the chargers. Technically but the giants Brought him into the team in two thousand four. They put him in the lineup in around October that year and then they never had to think about the quarterback position again for the next ten eleven eleven twelve years and I know things didn't end very well but they should have been thinking about it so when you're when you're talking about right ten years okay I'm GonNa say ten years when you think about other teams about your Brown's Mark My jets so many other teams in the league that go through constant search a churn looking for a guy and you end up with a stop. Stopgap and a rookie. You stinks and then a stop Gat and then another rookie. And maybe you hit on something. Like the SEAHAWKS got Russell Wilson. They don't have to think about anything. Russell Wilson's a better player than the but he eli for ten twelve years. They put him in there. He did his job. He was not spectacular but he was steady. You never had to worry about him getting hurt because he never did. He's the most durable the player ever. You'd never had to worry about him saying stupid something stupid to the media. He always handled that very well. You never had to worry about him. Getting into like a behind the scenes drama with with a coach and exploding and him being at odds and using the media to get a point across and all that stuff he was a Walter Payton Man of the year guy he was a total title. Good Dude and in those playoff runs. Then you factor that in for me. He rose up in historic way. And then just beat. Anybody didn't beat the Jacksonville. We'll jaguars didn't beat a Pittsburgh. steelers heat the Patriots and he'd be Bill Bell Check and he'd beat Tom Brady. And if if that's not something that should be given added points knowing who the Patriots are and what they represent in this era of NFL football. I'm sorry I disagreed to just kind of view that uh-huh yeah beat the Patriots. No he beat the greatest team of all time the greatest quarterback in the greatest head coach. I think that means a lot. His team did right playing. Okay Ah in that Super Bowl. I don't think he would say he had the best game. Even the play he's known for is crazy play. That could never be replicated. The two twenty eleven run is what I remember most fondly. Va Man. I think people kind of forget that won the last game of the regular season that they played it was against the cowboys and then the three league games in the NFC playoffs and that Super Bowl he had a collection of some of the most improbable. Low percentage awesome throws goes for five weeks. Stretch that you'll ever see Joe flacco kind of had a somewhat similar run any add little moments like that the year after they won the Super Bowl two thousand eight. He was really good throughout the year but they didn't win the Super Bowl because if eli manning they want it because of their defense I mean they wanna because of Justin Tuck and he learned of it. It's equally reductive to me to say. They won because of the argue he was part of it took to get into the. I mean the kind of connected back to the HIGHTOWER. No one's out here making a case for hightower you kind of do you. You like to throw this one in. I is the single most important outside of Brady and Gronk like the Patriots. Don't have this run of Super Bulls without dont`a hightower. I think I don't think belongs in the hall of fame but you could every all of the cases were making for. Eli You could just as easily make for like twenty other other random playwright quarterback a case you've made for you. I think is the case. Why he's a great memorable? NFL figure. It's just that's different than in. Our weather also talked about about it forever his position he was not a top ten quarterback. I would say for every year but two of his career. There's no one in the hall of fame you can say they've also said forever. You're in West. You've quoted Vince Lombardi on this that the quarterback it just the most important for a position or a position where the spotlight as and that comes with way. More pressure To it then dot high tower where his position is. I just think what you I was able to do in that spot in those two years is something you can't take away from. I and and say oh he was carried to titles. Because I don't I just don't see it that way. I think you've you stated the case very well. I think it falls shy of the hall of fame. I think if you're a jets fan like Dan or you're the browns fan and you've seen nothing but Ship wrecked chaos at the quarterback position. That the the idea that you would draft someone who would play as Eli did before a PR stunt got him benched you know. Couple of years twelve years of sixteen starts and by the way we are stunned. Got Him benched. He got himself well. That's fine but I'm saying but also the disrespect I just giants fan and you draft draft Philip rivers and he. He did what he did. But you get Eli Manning out of it and you know. He's going to win two super bowls in essentially a total ironman at the position. He's a hall of fame to a lot of giants fans I get. I don't think he belongs to the meeting. Early either reading a story just reading up on allies career. I completely forgot the whole two thousand seventeen. Dak Prescott’s contract is Cowboys’ “No. 1 priority” in offseason
"Dallas Cowboys have a new coach and have a quarterback today very much would like to keep his contract expires in March the haze in the barn he last played a game in late December week seventeen they didn't make it to the playoffs the rookie contract is over the injury risk has been fully and completely carried by dak Prescott that injury risk now ships over the cowboys and it will be part of the contracted that Prescott eventually gets and the more Jerry Jones and or Stephen Jones talk about the situation the more I realize that they have allowed themselves to be put over a barrel the likes of which we haven't seen since Joe Flacco became the Superbowl forty seven M. V. P. seven years ago it's been urgent for us Stephen Jones said Tuesday we certainly want to get that done that's our number one priority is to go to the off season is to hopefully find some resolution to it and get that done okay that's fine good do it it's not gonna be cheap here's why the contract is now based on the franchise tax and the franchise tag is in the neighborhood of twenty six million a year or at least twenty six million for this year and then it goes up by twenty percent for the next year and if the cowboys were to tag dak Prescott a third time it goes up forty four percent and that's the non exclusive franchise taxi the first decision they have to make is whether to use the non exclusive tag which would expose Prescott to an offer sheet that could be extended to him by another team and the cowboys would have five days to match and if they don't match it Prescott goes to a new team and the cowboys get two first round draft picks as compensation now would someone offer dak Prescott top of the market money and give up a pair of first round picks to get him good question there are more free agent quarterbacks than usual who are available in this cycle which would make a team less inclined to give huge money and two first round picks to get dak Prescott but you really don't know what other coaches think of a god because they have no reason to come out and tell us what a bill Belichick loves what about check decides he's our future that we can coach this guy into the kind of quarterback we had to deal with over the years and we haven't dealt with well the guy was some mobility a guy who can throw well on the run a guy who is always there always healthy when Tom Brady missed four games in twenty sixteen as the deflate gate suspension finally kicked in Jimmy Garoppolo got injured just over percent got injured Brady hasn't been injured since Bernard Pollard him low week one of the two thousand eight season and tore his ACL we take that for granted teams don't you need your quarterback there every week in Prescott for years hasn't missed a

"Of information kind of funny because the beginning of the year we were told the Broncos had the most difficult schedule the NFL or second most most behind Texas dipping high look at it now everybody's talking about the schedule being so easy it's funny how on paper something looks in the beginning of the season and you get a way it was easy to find out it's not what you thought you with the Cleveland Browns for instance everybody was in the high pick for the Superbowl now they might not even win their division so you know it's it's it's interesting to watch to stop play out well even in the course of the of the flows of the season I mean as soon as Andrew luck announces retirement a lot of people just immediately said okay the culture gonna be picking in the top five judge go we were set is doing okay in fact the colts might even not necessarily go into the draft picking a high quarterback they might say you know Hey you if you if you could make us a competitive team Jacoby maybe they let you roll with it another year and they'll just bring in a quarterback they'll draft a quarterback to develop behind him I agree and I think it's amazing that you didn't mention Chad Kelly in there once that's because I shouldn't and nobody should here right but they they you know a little help Broncos fans are some people that I know I know I'll floater the one that got away the legend to the got away preseason legend Kyle floater all time grease motor back in a pre season he's putting up some really spectacular preseason numbers Benjamin rushing it yeah but highly loader single handedly ending the dreams of future insurance salesman but but to that point and I and I'm glad you brought that up and we we spoke about this a few times the ANC overall pretty weak conference you have the top in teams right we know those teams it it that doesn't change anything we knew that those teams were gonna probably be good but what happens is there's a lot of middling to bad teams teams actively taking in the A. F. C. N. and then there are teams that are look inconsistent at best and so for for the Broncos that's why you when we were in the midst of the old for when the Broncos were in the midst filled before we were talking about it we said look star string together a few wins yeah you never really know how this is going to shake out and in the midst of the Broncos getting the two wins in a row which they really should have three in a row the chief lose too and they lose too in a way that actually is a replicable likely teams or Detroit Lions basically did it carry that into the colts game the colts they went to Kansas city and they didn't even better and in the Texas look the the Texans model what is John Watson and and the officer told this sort of their shots it wasn't like they they wanted that game saying if we can hold them under twenty no I just did their thing they took chances will fuller drop three touchdowns in that game now three touchdowns in the game on now you know a great week start will fuller your fantasy league yeah I don't know any Benjamin all rights that would have invested heavily in him and done that but I I but yeah yeah that happened well buddy that that's that's what kills is like you know well for the week before hundred seventy yards receiving three touchdowns any of this to find digs going off for three W. like those things happen in that everybody's gonna rush to put it back in their or their line ups and then at the very next week their their disappointment right I'm not appoint chaser by as those good match up and then put in that vein it's not like the tents that that's where I'm I'm like look does the size of the Broncos to do their thing but it doesn't mean that the offense can execute effect I'll go almost a further with you on this bed I think mostly Joe Flacco today I think Joe Flacco once it I think Joe Flacco after kinda have in a a little a little bit of a everything taken off of him like like Hey we got this game Joe don't don't stress too much don't screw up in in the Titans game we got this one the way he's been Kerry himself the way he's been talking about the office I don't have a cut for me but she basically said something to the effect of like we want to be a reason why we win this game but not just part of like along for the ride the office was along for the ride in the Titan's went kinda yeah and I think that Joe Flacco of all people knows what both sides of that coin feel like you know he he was along for the ride with the ravens a lot of the time he also strung together the reason that they got two and won a Superbowl so you've been bullseyes that coin he sees tasted in all the that the tree of of winning in a great offense and now I I I do think that you think is will chip on your shoulder when you come away from the Titans game like well you know we actually kind of stock but the defense held us together you know the run game was next out the past came with very good at it I mean it wouldn't the office of Lee that what a great game by the Broncos are flashes they made some big plays and they need to but they try to put it in kinda cruise control because they knew they didn't have to I mean that the tides getting crossed the fifty yard line in the first three quarters play that I recall they got to the forty nine once had a point all of our four template but I mean you know when you when you bottom up that well get out your office kinda I don't see the check out but you know they recognize are not needed and there can be you can kind of let off the gas a little this was the quote he said there's always that side of it of wanting to go out there and have your claim on the game and all that is like there's always a personal side going out there and playing football games I don't think that always means it's a bad thing it's like I said I think you go out there and focus on what you're doing with the idea that it's for the guy next to you would have to repair the best you can so you're not letting anybody else down but again he kind of point at the very beginning of that he kind of pointed out yeah you know what you play this game you play this game to be remembered you play this game to be a winner and you don't want to be along for the ride of your quarterback like they did there you're less your a career pack up that is being brought in just to keep the seat warm you want to go out there you want to kind of put your stamp on the game just like I didn't get a chance to really do that this last game I think he really wants this one and he's got the defense I think to do that if they can get that run game warmed up early he'll have his spots to be able

Countdown to first round of 2019 NFL Draft
"Denver Broncos have the number one ten overall pick in the know rather has the number ten number one. But number ten overall pick. It is the first round though in the NFL draft, which starts tonight voice of the Broncos. Dave Logan says the team has a handful of needs including the offensive line and could make some picks you might not expect. I do think they'll pick a quarterback some more of this draft and maybe higher than we've seen some of the other drafts with Trevor simian a seventh round pick. I mean, maybe maybe amid round quarterback signed veteran quarterback. Joe flacco to contract in the off season. The draft starts at six

NBA Draft 2019: Latest 1st-Round Order, Predictions
"And ladies and gentlemen, we have a new mock draft out Mel kiper Jr's three point. Oh is here with us. And we are looking forward to the draft. Mel will join us in just about an hour to talk about the new mock draft. But there have been some changes in the draft specifically one less quarterback. Now going in the first round then in mel's two point oh mock draft. So we have four in the two point oh mock draft with Daniel Jones from Duke rounding out of the last pick of the draft to the patriots in the first round of thirty two. There are only three quarterbacks now in the first round, according to mel's latest mock. And obviously a retirement might be a big reason why and the quarterbacks have changed as well. Right. As far as where they're they're going. Well, Cuyler he still has Tyler going number one derozan. Well in his last draft Cuyler going number thirteen to the dolphins. So now and this draft he hasn't going number one. He had. Dwayne Haskins going number six at a giant Kyle Murray. Going number thirteen to the to the dolphins. Drew lock going fifteen to the Redskins and Daniel Jones going thirty two to the patriots. So as you mentioned Daniel Jones now out of the first round, according to the latest mock draft by Mel kiper, just three quarterbacks Murray number one. The main says Dwayne Haskins at number six, and you start to hear reports that the giants may go defense was six and then was seventeen go quarterback. But right now twain Haskins at six and then drew lock sitting there at number thirteen for the dolphins. Does the only three quarterbacks in this latest first round. Yeah. Going to be very interesting because we know what the giants listen one thing. Dave Gettleman has made very clear he does not feel beholden to tell us his plan. And so I don't feel overly beholden to believe. A lot of what we're hearing coming out of the giants can't because if you've got a guy who's basic messages trust me, I got this. Well, then we understand he doesn't feel like he has to tell us the truth. So as we hear these things. Coming out. We also understand this time of year is about deception to an extent it's trying to manipulate the draft order trying to manipulate the opinions of certain players. So that you can try and put yourself in the best position to get the guys you ultimately want. So it makes it difficult to try and read the tea leaves it is although I have to say on cattlemans behalf. He said all of last spring saquon Barkley is a generational talent with the second overall pick. And that's where he went. Look, I think we all agreed. There has to be a quarterback in the giants future. Whether it's at six or seventeen trade now Cleveland, but it would not surprise me in the least if Dave Gettleman waited until the second or third round to take a quarterback this Dave Gettleman, he created that created, but he he made the term a more of a vernacular in the NFL draft hog molly's when he was the GM of the Carolina Panthers. He loves the big guys to hog mollies. And let's be honest. This draft is going to be decided outside of Kyla Murray. More than anything else about the big defensive lineman in this draft. The hog Molly is on the defensive side of the ball. So depending on your draft grades for your quarterbacks you could take one of those at six and then a quarterback at seventeen it all depends again on your on your draft great. If twain Haskins is highest on the board and draft grades. You don't pass that up. If you have a Dwayne Haskins drew lock. And whatever other quarterback equal in grades. You know, maybe use that seventeen pick baby can trade it up somehow to get one of those guys as I said, this always comes down to grades. Do. You have a choice amongst grades. Are you close enough in quarterbacks where if you don't get one you try and get the other? But we'll see we'll see, you know, one of the biggest changes in from the last two this for Mel was they had the patriots taken Daniel Jones a quarterback, and this one I serve Smith junior the tight end from Alabama going, and that would not be shocking at all you have really three out of the top tight end Hopkinson the kid from Iowa teammate, Noah Fant, and then Smith junior all three likely to go in the first round a three first round tight end to on the same team come on. And what would that tell you as we saw? The patriots jump into the first round and take a running back and Sony Michelle at the end of that. And now to see in the next year three tight ends going. We've talked about this. However, you want to split it. Last year were Quinton Nelson. Went in the top ten in the draft as an offensive guard. We saw roquan Smith going the top ten as a middle linebacker. The middle of the field is worthy. NFL is being built right now. And other teams are starting to catch up to what the patriots have done for years. The way that we've seen teams export that specific area and three tight ends in the first round would hammer that home not denying that. They are guys that are certainly probably more talented than usual tight end groups. We're used to seeing but it's also about value. It's why you see running back taking it to overall by the giants last year. I mean, the other thing is I think they're more interior linemen in this first round then quarterbacks right? Like, a not tackles guards and centers. There are more of those according to males latest mock than there are actual quarterbacks being taken which would be very unusual. So the top five in this new draft that Mel kiper put out is Kylie Murray. Number one of the cardinals Nick both the D N number two to the forty Niners. Number three. Josh Allen the outside backing backer pass rusher going to the jet number four Cornyn Williams. To the raiders and number five guy making a pretty big jump. Devon white going to Tampa Bay at five in the last mock draft he was number eleven to the Bengals now in mel's draft. He is sitting at number five number six twain Haskins seven Joon Taylor. The offense attack from Florida going to Jacksonville sweat, the D N going to the lions at eight Sean, Gary the D N going into the bills from Michigan and TJ Hopkinson. The tight end going to the Broncos at number ten. Here's here's what I wanted to talk to Mel about and one of the issues that I have laid on me big fella with with this draft comes, you know, some some point and one of them is there are few prospects in new first round projection who are making their debuts because of their combine performances. There are four guys who have jumped into mel's first round who weren't out there before again based on the combine combine performances. I don't understand that. I don't I don't understand that. If you wanna say. You looked at the combine to go back and look at tape of them. But to say, they're combine performance jumped them up that doesn't compute to me. Well, I think that's I think that's the assumption though, is because of their performance you went back and look and that. That's fair. That's why I want to ask them. How did this? Make you go back and study them more. Because if you're just basing things off the combine I got a real issue with that. Yeah. I I don't think you would do that or teams. But at the same time, you look at the positions of the majority of the players that would be involved in that. And I think this could be true for teams as well. It's interior offense. It is right. Three interior offensive linemen Terry McLaren the wide receiver, but when it comes to interior offensive lineman. You wanna talk about an area where the scouting grossly lags behind to actually great and overall draft. It's a difficult area for a lot of people to see and understand because you don't have the benefit of a lot of stats. You don't have the benefit of even the combine members necessarily always translating to production. So when those guys go and they paying and they flag in the model somewhere for what they do at the combine. And then you go back and spend some more time looking at a guy like Lindstrom who wasn't going to be a big name. He wasn't like, you know, Gary bradberry from North Carolina State won the Remington award this year. Like that guy was a stud Boston College was a middling. Okay. ACC team this year. So Lindstrom wasn't getting the credit. He deserved even being as good as he is. So you go back now, and even these NFL teams, maybe we're late to the party on some of these guys all of a sudden start giving them an extra. That's why I want to ask I just wanna make sure with Mel that because I'm just reading from the combine performance, and again, let's put a name. To those you mentioned McLaren the wide receiver who is one of the others. Chris Lynch reminder, you just mentioned from Boston College now. Number twenty one to Seattle Eric McCoy interior linemen going number twenty two to Baltimore. Right and the Garrett bradberry. The Senator from North Carolina State who is you mentioned one the Remington award is the best center in the country number thirty one to the LA Rams where they have an aging center, and John John Sullivan. And that was that was one of the things have been saying for the Rams the last couple of years that dynasties been built on the interior. If you land a guy like that good, Lord or you winning out it is. So we'll see how that plays out. Now, the one thing that I find interesting he he has drew lock the third quarterback Mel dozen his latest mock going thirteen in Miami. I'm telling you don't take out Denver at ten in Cincinnati of eleven in play for quarterbacks. I mean. Yeah. Denver made the play for Joe flacco. But John Elway has messed this up a couple of times with all due respect. I mean, that's just outside of getting Peyton Manning. He has not figured out the quarterback spot there at ten they might be in play for quarterback. And you have Andy Dalton with his situation with the Bengals and his contract situation. I, you know, I think that there's a really good chance that they could be in play with a quarterback there, by the way, by the way, Mel kiper Jr's mock draft not the biggest item related to the draft this week. That will have news for you guys. What more on that coming up later? This week
