"In terms of how it originates, where did this so I understand there's money involved and all this sort of thing. In this player's left Florida over it and that sort of thing. But where does the money originate? Does it originate with the player, does it originate with the university? No. The university technically is not involved, although that's open for open for debate. It's really there are a couple of ways it goes. I mean, it can be, it can be an individual business. If you own a view in an insurance company and you want the quarterback to do commercials for you, then that's between you and him, like any other business deal. It can be done through what's called collectives. This is really a gray area here. These are essentially booster groups that are paying. So it kind of just goes with the player, in other words. Well, the player, if you go back to the genesis of NIL, which obviously everyone knows means name image and likeness, that's an individual relationship between a player and another entity and so he has I mean, there are anyone who does and then IL deal with a player is required to correspond with the university, I think, to let them know what they are doing. And so we'll talk about okay, not trying to interrupt, but it's not necessarily the university saying we can give you NIL deals if you come here. In theory, Tim, the university is prohibited from doing that. Okay, okay. I got you. I got you. Okay. I don't believe that. And. Well, you know, it's funny. I played division one athletics years ago, but this is all so new to me. And I just thought, you know, I just needed a better explanation. And that helps some. And I thought it would go back to when you played. It's not a whole lot different. Then there was no point in the 80s. So back then, I'm pretty familiar with that era. You were recruited and the coach could not say to you, hey, listen, I know you're a great player. We'd like to help you get a car. He said, listen, you know, he would have somebody else booster contact you. Yes. Yeah, yeah. But we were also told, we thought a lot of places and when we played, we were told, hey, you wear a coat and a tie. Right. And you do this and you do that. And here's your meal money for the weekend. And you got represent the university. That's the way it was. I never forget being in a locker room in college, and I saw the guy handing out the meal money. And I saw one player get more than the other, and I asked somebody about it and he said, well, he had a much better game. Yeah, well, that's, you know, as my dad and grandfather would tell me, that's life. So of course, but I was on to this earlier. That's really, I can tell you another really funny story about some college I'll do that in another show, but anyway, my next, I don't want to keep your time up, but my next question is on the spinal rankings college football rankings, not that it means really the only thing that means anything is who finished number one, which is Georgia. Okay. We all get that. But how does Tennessee fall behind Alabama when they beat Alabama and then Tennessee also beat they narrowly beat Alabama and then they beat LSU like a drum who LSU beat Alabama and then Tennessee went on to be Clemson who was ranked in the top ten at the time. How do they finish behind Alabama in the final rankings? Well, here's how. Because Tennessee because of the loss to South Carolina, fell below Alabama in the CFP poll, and to Nick Saban's credit or discredit, he was able to create a perception in the media's mind that Alabama belonged in the playoffs and Josh eifel never bothered with that. I wish dino would have just called me. I know. Just in a text, I could have talked in through it. We could have got this done together. Well, I could have got 75 grand within three days. No problem. He didn't know. Too many missteps, too many. Louisville is going to play at Michigan state at 7 15 on Wednesday night. That's my most interest. There's plenty of games I want to watch. I'm just most interested to see how Louisville plays with Mac back in the lineup. A good opportunity for both those programs there. And then the other game from Wednesday night to know is Michigan and North Carolina, 9 15 on ESPN. And Michigan has not played up to its expectations, North Carolina to a certain degree has now played up to expectations. I don't know what the I don't have the line in front of me or the over under. But Michigan's been disappointing on defense, Carolina has been atrocious at times on defense. So I don't know what the over under. I imagine this over unders fairly high, I'm just guessing, but that'll be a very affirming win for either team that can get it, and then just real quick on Thursday. The only game that I think is of note is a mid major variety, but I think it's quite intriguing. That saint Mary's at Utah state. That's a Thursday tip on CBS Sports Network at 9 o'clock eastern saint Mary's favorite on kempo to win by one point. The gales are 7 and one. The only last they have is the Maui championship game against Wisconsin. So we'll see if they continue the good news for the WCC. Meantime, Utah state has a stud and Justin biehn who has performed like one of the 15 best players in America at this point. We'll see if you can keep that up. I remember there used to be a ticker we would call it and it would tick throughout the entire game in the press booth and it was essentially the internet. I just score just scores updates on what's going on with the rangers and white sox and you'd let it run. It was almost like a paper towel dispenser and you'd let it run run. I always felt like i was part of the broadcast. Joe say banning rip off the ticker for me and i'd run up there and rip off and get them the updates and just seeing the inner workings of radio and how games were covered at. A young age. Made a huge impression on me. So i'm very grateful. Joe allowing this kid who was wearing a jose conseco hat in the press at fenway park which is great but Yeah we'll catch up with joe and you know he's a road. Warrior for years was on the flying all these cities to cover the socks. Three day sat in kansas city up to seattle and now they've been doing the game from back home so a little different for joe and they're having a great year. There's gotta to figure it out to forty detroit struggle in the last week. So.

Buck power and so that and then they had the bible and they had like you know who they had to beat in this case it was like the all male team And my favorite movies of like Of all time are like a rocky. It's like my favorite movie. All time the hoosiers you guys mentioned field of dreams like like i. there's there's just I just really connect to those movies. And so i that's just how i approached it. I would imagine you're also connecting to these olympics. Knowing you some tells me you're a big olympic person what events of you enjoyed and what stories have inspired you. Yeah i really you know. It's it's interesting. Because i'm a time zones in the you know the changes everything like that like i find myself just like up all night Watching wound biles. Obviously that was. I really was interested in in watching her when the bronze But when it comes to like track and field like the You know that that's four hundred meter hurler and forgetting his name now He was from denmark. Watch the women When the gold that was super fun and But i also like i was sprinter and in college and just watching the sprinters and of course i at olympic level like at eight hundred meter run is is a sprint. As a filmmaker as a director as a writer is working with undiscovered talent in sports we celebrate young talent finding their sea. Legs josh allen. Today getting a huge extension kind of unheralded coming out of college. And then you have guys like john moran exploding on the scene or sabrina in brooklyn and so does young talent. What is it that you enjoy so much about working with people who haven't really proven themselves onscreen yet. I love it man. Like i feel like I wouldn't necessarily cast them or take them on. If i didn't feel like it was inside them. Already you know and i think you compare that to an athlete. But just had like ron natural talent and ability and to be able to like shape and mold bat Is really exciting to me. So i like anybody i can. I do feel like. I have to see something in them and And then and really it down to This this notion of of hard work. Like i think a big part of what i see in them as if i feel like they're gonna work hard and try to get it right and and when i when i find somebody who's coach cultural that's just like that's just fun because you're just taking what they're you know. Natural abilities are and you're helping them hone it and and they're and they're thirsty to get that like to they want that kind of You know Attention and and you know. I'm a teacher by trade really i mean. I have a a master's in education. So like i really feel like that's just me like teaching in a different capacity. I feel like new. You great to have you on the program. And how are you paul. I'm doing very very well. I feel like. I know. Youtube because I told your producer when he called that I would bet that. I was the first oklahoma to hear paul finebaum in on radio and Been with the ever since and and enjoyed every bit of it. Maybe more the than even you. Well thank you. I can do without me as long as we had the caller already. We've had a few from austin which we'll get to in a minute. But i just want to get your reaction because you're at the epicenter there of ou and oklahoma state and just Since this news broke a week ago at about right this moment You know what have you heard from people. And and what do you think somebody who not only played there. But but he's been such a part of of that state's history well. I was one who had said previously that Oklahoma would never join the sec. And we can talk about a million issues but the fact that the fcc has so many really good teams I was concerned about the competitiveness of getting into the conference. But bob stoops terrific job. Did okay against the sec. To but lincoln. Riley is come in. And i expected him to recruit better therefore oklahoma improve. Paul he's put together a string of quarterbacks now and into the future better just the best in the country and he's an offensive my.
