"Family insurance field. Oh, leave, Okay. Rolls right off here, Tom. The new name for later. Forget, Yeah. Yeah, well, you know what, really quickly. I'm not going to say much about the new Lakeshore drive because you know as lakeshore drive If you want to just it's just called Disable drive. That's okay. But but the entire name I mean, the signs are gonna be three ft long, easily. Every time the wind blows, they'll fall off. That's what the bridges across it are for so you can put the whole thing on it. And I understand I understand why, and that's what that's fine. That's wonderful. But I mean, you know, my solution was just rename everything that's named daily. Yeah, just rename it disables yourself, too. Two problems for me it once you know that, whatever, but that's enough of that. It is it is. Yeah, but, yeah, I mean, is that the front page of the paper? I think And we talked about for nine months because you know nothing else going on. Yes, but let me ask you a question. They did it yesterday, right? Right. Okay. Isn't that kind of like when the Bears and Cubs and sacks would race season ticket prices Friday night? Yeah, pay attention. I mean, this is something you should do it on Monday, so we can talk about it throughout the week. Now they do it on the weekend. Yeah. Look, you know I've got I've got bigger problems with my cubs team. Then you know what City Council does, but it just serious towers. Still Sears Tower Waveland. Still Waveland Lakeshore drive. Still going to Lake Shore drive, So let them do what they want Everybody. I mean, yeah, There's no doubt about it. Let's go to our guy John and evidence that John what's happening today? Hey, guys, How are you doing Well to two things. I'm going to mention one thing about each team real quick here. First of all the facts, remember, they've got a lot of key injuries. They still got that two game lead. Cleveland's faltering They're hurting. Um as far as the Cubs go, you know what they're going to be facing two of the better rotations, Probably not in the nationally but maybe in the game right now. The Dodgers and the Brewers. But Got to remember these. These are the world champions, and they got swept here. So this is like payback for them. And last night, I think The eighth inning woke up their bats and, you know they're not once for a lot of base hit, but they will get on base. They will steal and you got guys on that ball club that will hit it out and And their bullpen is going to pick it up and just be happy that they don't have to face flower in this in this trip, because Bauer has done a number on the Cubs. He's not a number and a lot of teams. John. We appreciate the call and he was out there the other day, and I watched some of him pitch and he gave up three homers. That was those were the only runs he gave up in that series with the Padres, But the Padres took all three from the Dodgers. So you figure the dangers coming upset and then Zach Davies at the bullpen shuts him down with the no hitter the other day, and I want to talk to about some of the people in the air yesterday, and I'm not calling out names. But, you know, they're saying Well, yes, but is it really a no hitter of his the boat? You know what if you don't give up a hit? It's no hitter. It should be celebrated. Like any other. No hitter. Um you know what I mean? I mean, you know Eight walks. Yes, well, River Joe Joe Cowley had a no hitter, and I don't mean the writer for the sometime who had a good piece today. Who's doing his bulls position breakdown on a weekly basis, But Joe Cali had a no hitter and he was pretty. It was pretty brutal. Yeah, the Edwin the Edwin Jackson, no hitter with eight walks. I remember working that day. Um, you know, and it's like really, he still got to know where they're going to go. Yeah, but he's got runners all over the place. But if you can still, it's a no hitter. It doesn't matter how many guys it took. And I tell you, I think it's pretty cool. Actually, none of them knew And and at first, you might think it's a line. But when you go back and see the highlight of Kimbrel coming off the mound, he has no idea why Contreras is so excited. Yeah, absolutely. Now you can see He just holds his hand out like to give, you know to shake his hand. After the last out. He has no idea what's going on, and I thought that was pretty cool. That was neat. Yeah, I did see, so we have what the six or seven no hitters in the first couple weeks in season and I did see The Elective record of teams at in the game immediately following a no hitter. It's like they don't even show up. So it's like if you're in Vegas. All you do is wait for a no hitter and then bet against that team the next day, and you're likely going to win your bet. Well, the The Cubs made it interesting last night for a while until late in the game, but but they also have met the same fate that most every other team does. After an elevator. Well, see, we're not even to the midway point of the season. So with the number of no hitters you have, If you double that, it's ridiculous. They'll be like 12 to 13 no hitters through the course of the season, so maybe you're betting can work. After we watch no hitters throughout the course of the season colors hanging there. We'll get right back to you talking some baseball. It's Hanley and human. Er, We're here on ESPN 1000. You can also hear us odd our new FM station. "About two or three weeks ago, Casey Johnson. For NBC Sports. Chicago wrote a piece basically telling you and remember about his connections and now where he works that don't be shocked for monetary reasons for many other reasons. That Jim Boylan would be back. And it's been a fear of dollars for a while. I said, Hey, give these new guys the benefit of the doubt, and my benefit of the doubt is probably not going to pay off. Joe Cali today. Now in the sun Times, a guy who had been reporting that no, no, no, Don't worry. They're going to get rid of him because the players don't like him and they know they're just doing it the slow play they doing their due diligence. Colley said today again because of the covert situation that maybe some of the things that Cornish ofhis wanted to dio Isn't going to get done. Because of financial reasons. And now, more than ever, it's looking like Boylan could indeed be back for financial reasons, Right? Isn't that kind of that's the because they did finance which is which is odd, because, as you have documented, and others have documented throughout the course of the last several months Terry Ryan store has, in fact paid coaches to go away. Yes, And while they have lost lots of money, they have also made lots of money. Sure, and it's always about the return on investment. That's what's most important. Anybody who is investing and if you are losing money, But yet you're then compounding the problem by not getting Well, even you're getting less on your return because you have a stupid clown coach on the sidelines really feel yes, like it's just it is just in my opinion, All you're doing is compounding the problem. It's the attorney. It is the ultimate example of penny wise and pound foolish. Because Listen, What I want is to see this young group of players developed and They haven't done that. Maybe some of them will never develop because maybe they're not. They're not as good as we had hoped. But I don't believe that the developmental process has been enhanced with a guy. In charge, so If you're afraid to make the coaching change because of the catastrophic losses you're about to face or the uncertainty of your financial model going forward. Listen, It's easy for me to stay here in this chair and say to you what's an extra 1,000,000 million and 1/2 But I use it in comparison with what that team is valued at and also like I said to you for a long time, did I not like my my mantra long was regardless of what should or will happen. Follow the money and when people stopped going to the games, and people stop renewing season tickets, and fewer people keep going through the building. That's when I think it was most likely you were going to get change. Well, it feels like that took place to a certain degree, doesn't it? I would argue with you or to you that You were pushing people away those that want to come back if, in fact there is basketball to be seen in person. You are not encouraging them to come. If you're telling them that Jim Boylan is going to be the coach, I think you are doing yourself a financial disservice because those who may want to venture into an arena if they're allowed to Are going to be less likely to do it with their resources, and they don't believe in the coach and the only reason the coaches there is because the financial revenue model has been Drastically affected So I think this is bad PR for for you as a team and you try to procure as many people as possible to buy your tickets model. It's bad, bad everything. So it's your fan base won't want to go. Because you, you stop shore. You are not getting the return on investment that you made with Karnishovas and Evers Lee. You are not allowing them to do their job now. Now you've got a player like Lowry marketing who's making $5,300,000 who you need to figure out what kind of a player he is. And you are not getting the return on investment by having a boob of a coach on the sideline developing him. So whether it's your fans going to the building whether you're not allowing your front office who you put a lot of work and dio Looking and searching and doing everything and paying them. You're not allowing them to go full way. You're not allowing your players to reach their full potential. You have to make decisions on these players for the long term. Who you going to keep because they're any good because you're keeping a coach. That's on Lee making one point something $1,000,000 you want to save a few extra bucks in the middle of a hand and listen, I agree with 100% of what you're saying. I'm just saying, if you're selling me And Abdel has been right on this and nobody's disputing Casey. I think from the very beginning we all said, Hey, listen, This is terrifying because Casey is dialed in is anybody And usually if if this is what Casey is saying. This is what's going to happen. So nobody's disputing the you know the The detail of the forward. Yeah, I'm just saying, I'm just I'm disheartened by those reports the case and again my My. My statements were also about They thought that because there are on on certain financial times, you don't want to pay two coaches. I'm just telling you, I think you make those financial moments. Even Mohr unsettled because I don't think people are going to flock to buy tickets. For a team that is being coached by Jim Boylan. I think they have their guy picked out. I think it's going to be Agent Griffin. I think he's going to be the next coach the Bulls, and I think that if he's not going to get a job this year Then the front office is just buying time because they're trying to save every single penny that they can. And if that means you're not going to Because Boylan's cheap we all know Voil. It's cheap. You don't have to pay another coach. If you don't know when. The season's going to start if it is going to start and yes, people will say Well, don't you want the new coach working with the young guys? Of course I am. I'm agreeing with everybody. I'm agreeing with everybody That says that I'm agreeing the Boylan should not be the coach. But knowing this franchise and knowing how Tax for money, eh? NBA teams, and you have an owner that not only owns an MBA team but owns a baseball team, too, So he's seeing losses on both ends from both teams right here that he's going to try to save every single penny possible, and even if it is only two million or whatever, he makes a 1,000,000 1/2 whatever it is You're still not spending on another coach, and that's what he's going to do. And if you and if Karnishovas thinks that, Hey, Griffins, It's not going to get a job this year. We'll give him the job next year if he calls him and says Amen. Don't take any jobs this year. You're going to be our guy next year, and that's what they do. Then financially. Get your point, Adam, But any day that Jim is working with this young groom to me, Isa loss. I agree with you 100% of review. This is also a business and Brian's story didn't become rich by making dumb decisions. I know, but he's not getting the return on my investment like yes, he may be saved. Like you said, Penny Wise, pound foolish in the long run. You are losing your starting a race. A clean slate with that. You're you're you're tying your hand behind your back. I just wanted to start a race. You're you're not going to get back the the streak red. You would, I guess is the way I'm putting it like fan credibility. Why not just getting rid of it and eating the money like you like, If you want to say Hey, like, yeah, we might not have fans is here but maybe you'll sell some more season Take listen. You were telling me that Jim Boylan had two years of $10 million a year on his contract. I'd be more willing to buy that. But but But the point here is, is that like When you when you look at the level of finances here needed to me, I don't I don't think it's a good financial decisions. I don't want to give you a history lesson of poles. Hypocrisy in the more things change, the more things stay the same. 3123323776 If you want to weigh in on Jim Boylan, which is looking more and more like he's going to stay and how this will affect you. That's next. Listeningto Watling Sylvia on ESPN 1000 Chicago's home for Sports. Chicago's home for Sports is on twitch. "One phone lines have been I mean people are wanting to talk bulls basketball which is good because if you're apathetic I told the store yesterday I was doing a white cloth appearance for the radio station last Friday in Palestine we did a pub cried three different places the first place I walked into my wife was with me is jails pizza and sports bar it's packed there's a ton of our listeners in there and I'm walking around the tables were talking and I count the TV's are you literally walked around the entire room it was a big room and I go one two three four twenty big monitors twenty twenty Hey they had harness racing on the group couldn't gabelein wasn't like they were taken that's in there harvest freaking racing they had two games of women's basketball both the same game Baylor women's basketball they're good it's women's basketball compared to the NBA out of that shooting down women's basketball they had college hockey they had a highly tacky compared to the NBA you can do that too correct yeah they had a Memphis Grizzlies game and they had two college games that I have no idea who the team for and I said to the lady behind the bar who's the manager excuse me ma'am I start interrupt you can you tell me why you don't have the bulls game on here the plane Brooklyn just because no one's asked that's thank on a Friday night people have a few pops and no one wants to watch the bulls game and no one complains that scary if you're sitting in the ownership sweet Joe Cali does a great job with the Chicago sun times he's all over the bulls beat he joins us now sorry Jo I'm just a little fired up how are you this morning Hey I live in Brooklyn and I will check in thank you sold yesterday came and went and the bulls did absolutely nothing and I did not expect them to do anything because I truly believe from the people I talked to in the league that at the end of this season there will be meaningful change and you and I've had this discussion before right so if you're going to bring in Joe colleague David Kaplan Bob Smith whoever the person is coming in here why would you have guard packs make the trade yesterday if you're going to hand the keys to someone else at the end of April do you know what I mean no no I get it and you have to click to download that yeah table packed with still have a voice in the state that will expand the fables and get a little larger but it's going to be the same suspect that that table here's the problem I had okay if that was the case if that was the year that you had of of taking up a sip of some random powerful PM that you're gonna bring it what is it going to be a case because you look at the history on both sides of town power is the fear for the lines are they brought in one powerful voice on both sides of town they brought in one powerful voice that was an outsider his name was Tom that they don't how did that work out yeah and he wants a local player over the last ten years that had a boy named Jimmy Butler what did they do to him not only did they get rid of a make what's the narrative and paint a picture of him being a bad guy so the idea of them bring in in in the outside powerful voice doesn't exist you look look at the resume on both sides of town they bring in loud voices within the family but it's got to be within the sample that's the big problem I had so yes I do think our phone gonna have a different parking spot it right off and maybe pass them I'll have a different title bring in a person that they still had all respect and stuff but it's still going to be the state in the world I hope that the person they bring in the license you come up with the correct yeah that's the best case scenario you could expect out of it the problem I had yesterday the first thing to come out of there are there are connected how is we were not going to be five why why what it what you know what Wendell Carter even if there and when you go to get the seven golf I noticed that the more this call one the card is not a flight start baby eventually you're a cop on guard well right now your students are it's entitled him you need to forward work with children that you're brought up he said don't look for me I don't need to see more of their and how it works you don't know what exactly did not happy with the system what does this really that over seven he it is the old quarter he's a twenty six year old got the body you're all I don't speak very well for you made a mistake bring about that contract I get it you had to get rid of the base level there was support part of what we think you may so what's so good about all the quarters with his company builds that look at that's the problem I had a you came out yesterday and said we get we will file we want to make is that could be in Lowry one of the local because why because it's a single story over value your assets I think there's a console don't start if you come out alive you know what we called up everything that had sent this function start in Philadelphia and we will beat everybody available thank you to either seven or eight feet what will it take a lot of him to tell me like dancing and you couldn't find a partner because what yesterday was the sale of land base that you murdered for the last decade yeah Joe couldn't agree more is same story different day so now the argument we've been having in that same vein and very well said I mean points through the roof here do you believe this season the way it stands now with the injuries and to use a line from Jack from pacs yesterday it's very disjointed do you think this season is done is it over is this the team that's now going to fight for the playoffs or D. a cave in losing tank again and trying to get I don't know the seventh pick for the fourth year in a row where are they it didn't help because it's a terrible draft in the terrible creating class and signed every year window thank you thank you were going to be a six seven eight they fear from Holland press the massive somehow then there there and all the thousand twenty one John is going to come if they I like the for you guys I'm on the cover here no she that what the model that we ordered back order that they came up with all of your years we understand the climate and you know what and plus people we don't even know what for you want to look like because of the impact of what happened with which Houston in China and what that's going to do Valerie yeah I mean people are you talking about then go down so you are not out of order you get a player option there next year you look at that time thank you look at that young contract with the federal everything was locked for two year window okay so you either have to do a major shake up yesterday or you have to stand Pat did on your hands and say this we build up revealing especially compared to some of the other rebuild that started after yours it is failing and we're we're doing it all wrong a three way at one superstar and have HIM be able to recruit and bring in guys your no where you're nothing your problem your blue thing up in seventeen promised you were getting away from mediocrity you're taking the Japanese add in only player in the building but she was with he's saying she became Ali what what were stock that would certainly have you come what what what what was that all about your home grown talent who did everything the right way and we wanted him by lying to him and sending in the Senate and house work itself everything with this organization the last couple of years and this rebuild your walk how to get out of it I have no idea I wish I could tell you got to do this and this and that because so what you have to do with any of the other the narrative is what destroyed because of interest in the six years ago with injured because of term can't why that was senator rand narrative though Joe you know that although it was horrible what people wanted thanks for the time it'll still carries along with that he is cleared the ground that's all your talk to anybody and I still appreciate on National Review practices with so medical practices he just when we get a wind player your superstar player expect the play thirty five to thirty eight and if that's what the game dictates and that's what a great deal on it so that it would not have seen narrative is all brand long just because they don't have turned the policemen on that's that from there so that it forms going down to this organization I don't even know let me ask you a question because the narrative is I don't know if you said it but I've heard it said great players aren't coming here are they not coming here because the team stinks are they not coming here because of John and gar more John because he's the guy in charge are they not coming here but because the head coach at they currently employ is basically an interim head coach we have a good I mean all the pop I mean you have first of all you have I mean if you if you ever get Carlisle of private conversation you can start the coaches association ask him the reputation and the feeling cold have about kago bowl they all feel the same thing but the coaches and managers and the other side of our nothing but after that they usually stock so wait there the idea that you're gonna from how in in fake you know what we're we're out on probably what you say Chicago probably the third best basketball city in the country may there may be some and supports market probably get top three and is treated like Mayberry R. F. D. and so you're gonna telescope eight ball leave South Beach come here we're gonna put you in charge what global brands that have that helmet statue outside and we're gonna let you do whatever you want not out of the west location is out there if you're not if you're going to have to get a quote but the longtime assistant like there was this particular route and wants to come in and have the has the the cats they return the thing around what's aren't many of them your world well a lot of his you're welcome the reason for your going to have to finally get off a player that you're after that is a whole row talent that is willing to recruit and willing to act like a superstar not at all this does die kids from legal work and actually go on understand how the game is played and recruit and bring in other superstars you're gonna have to bring in the office that has a Pat Riley style and and can sit down with guys with a look of murdering look at my flick back here get for that there you will get more we're with they saw you Gerry would they ever have the temerity to go not without giving a guy like that how to what in the world this is the all.

"So is marking it actually had said that before the season started at media day back in September he said it was a goal of his to play in all the games this year he wanted to play in all eighty two games he told many people privately how much you would mean after missing a combined forty four games over his first two seasons you look at his numbers and as the I think it was Joe Cali asking the the question there but you look at his numbers his rookie year he played sixty eight games last year he played fifty two games and this year forty six and now he's down for four to six weeks along with all the other bowls and we don't know a lot of orders coming back and Wendell Carter and Daniel gaffer with their injuries expected to be back now the question is what's going to happen when it comes to the trade deadline do they move a guy I know I heard Sylvia earlier today dad maybe you know they should move it that he is young they need to bring some wild body else and we also know that there are other players on that team that want to be dealt with love to be traded because I can name playing time Valentine is not getting off the bench he's basically in the dog house and just not playing he would love to be traded so we'll see what happens in a couple weeks of the trade deadline comes up but just two and a half games out of a possible playoff spot and at this point you wouldn't think it would look good as one of your you like to say when your top scores he's a guy you like to have been scoring a lot more for you in expecting to score a lot more for you but market in for the season right now is averaging fifteen points his three point shooting the lowest of his career at thirty four three forty four compared to three thirty six and thirty six percent now just thirty four percent his field goal shooting the worst forty two percent compared to forty three and forty three Seoul is not been his year has not been the year that we've expected from large American and there's been so much talk over the last couple of weeks what's wrong with large American and is it hammers it is had is that the way the Jim Boylen uses him what exactly is the problem and and now we have to just wait a lot more waiting and see what's going to happen with his balls rotation you already got guys like Lou cornet as I mentioned and fully seal plane because Carter and gaffer are out and that now you're going to go with no Thaddeus young at the power forward position even though the it was nice the other day as I mentioned with market in playing and you know for guard over for small I guess you'd say even though the market is not a small guy but he be able to get up and down the floor and do things it's a strange injury but like you said you don't want that you want to make sure you stop that early stress reaction it is right pelvis so yeah not a good way for the balls to start the weekend Daddy's young starting today we'll see you if that's all Valentine join the rotation not exactly sure if that's going to happen or not three one two three three two three seven seven six your bulls fan if you are a bulls fan there's been talk about the last couple of days here in the station people talking about how you know the toughest part is when nobody cares what people are talking about you when things like that happen and all of a sudden they don't pay any interested they don't watch the games well now it's going to be even more difficult to watch because you don't have large American it out there to watch a lot of people Zack Levin is he gonna now say listen I have no choice now but to go to the basket constantly I have no choice now but to take even more shots that I was shooting before I'll be interested to see how the bulls and Jim Boylen how they handle this whole situation it's it's not good another another not good season for the Chicago Bulls and making the playoffs at this point we wouldn't make a whole lot of sense but I've never been one of those to tank there's no reason to go out and take you can't tell players to on out and lose on purpose these guys are trying to earn a living and play as hard as they possibly can now some people say well look what they got no matter how hard they play they're not gonna be able to win many games well Jim Boylen job is also to try to get them to play hard and one thing that I think you will be able to say about this bulls team is that they eat out at night in and night out bases seem to play the game very very hard so tonight they got sacramental they have Cleveland coming up this weekend so a couple games that were winnable earlier today people of cap was talking about it this morning your cap nine to noon here at ESPN one thousand he was talking about some winnable games and only two and a half games out of a playoff spot the number eight spot how winnable are those games against sacramental tonight in Cleveland when you're not with large American in a you have another guy that's down that you have to go deeper into a bench that's already a little thing three one two three three two three seven seven six you want to talk a little balls another under way we'll keep you up to date with the latest on them throughout the course of the night it is also opening night of sax fast and white Sox fans for those white Sox fans that are not there because I know sacks fast sold out today sold out tomorrow it's only a two day event this year as opposed to three days but sold out for the weekend but we've got a lot to talk about when it comes the white Sox we'll hear from ten Manderson we'll hear from recon and also from Ricky Renteria they are both very excited about what's going on right now with this team as they get ready for the start of a new season the start of a spring training pitchers and catchers report in less than a month so white Sox fans you want to talk some socks baseball three one two three three two three seven seven six would it the season be a failure as a Sox fan with the season be a failure to you if the white Sox don't make the playoffs this is year four of the rebuild if they don't make the playoffs would be a failure I know Ricky Renteria things that there would be a failure he thinks all go to the playoffs this year we'll talk to white Sox baseball right after this you're listening.

"Radio station on Instagram at ESPN underscore Chicago that's at ESPN underscore Chicago Charles Barkley was on the station yesterday would want on so it's always entertaining and fun he's gonna do two hours of the guys at Chicago cut a week at the all star game in about a month when the TNT crew and everybody in the NBA world roles in Chicago for the annual all star festivities at the United center next month this was Barkley on the bulls and specifically the big man the fin law remark and what the hell have alarm argument good question he knows I mean are are actually I love him coming out of college and last year he was going to the right direction I have no idea what happened to him I mean I thought he was going to be but I wanted to have a third of December third of your sleep quite right and is ugly man is lease Charles we talked to Jeff van Gundy awhile ago and he said it you know as a coach would in some ways it's up to the player to develop and I don't disagree with that a hundred percent but isn't it also up to the coach to develop talent as well it is definitely a combination of both is definitely a combination of both I mean it because it because like OK you take the Portland trail Blazers who speak like I think at some point that cold like it's far but he has nothing to do with them to you thirteen just staying in and I think here started with good clothes and media have fantastic job last year sometime and you know we we blame the cultures because we don't want to get on the coaches behind our own arsenal the player's behind but I have I I'm not gonna lie man I I've been very disappointed the pool I thought I thought they were going to be contending for a playoff spot did what he thought well my goodness but they are all you mentioned marking and we thought he was gonna be like quote our star someone who could develop into that he's averaging fifteen insects you could probably still average fifteen and six in the NBA yeah you don't it's a weird thing I'm not going live later I actually thought he was going to be all star and I and I have no idea what happened because we don't even look like the same guy that's Barkley yesterday with the guys he's not taking as many shots either and maybe think well that's understandable was acting as a lot of shots Colby whites can take up some offense when he's on the floor although they're not on the floor to gather a thon but I don't Porter's been online a for most of the year like why is why are we taking three three and a half you were shots this year than he did last year and that I think explains the points per game because he shooting percentages circle aren't that off real quick I'll just give you his percentages this year and then his career all right go ahead this year from the floor he's shooting forty two point three percent for his career he's at forty three percent there's not much of a different last year right three point percentage thirty four point nine percent this year career thirty five point eight again you're talking about like I mean the sales point meeting as usual free throw percentage eighty two point one percent this one's got the greatest disparity career eighty four point eight percent so a couple of percentage points there but it is in a sense minuscule and but it but is that but the rebounds are way down the shots are down the points or minutes played let me look real quick how about another thing yeah minutes played is he playing less than he's been playing or is it at is average because if you give me minutes played that I've kind of got an area where I can go ahead and attack thirty point one which is down about a minute and a half from last year's again minutes minuscule minuscule ministers plane thirty minutes a night like he's not sick because many shots like he's become less aggressive that's kind of what it's like you know and you're saying less rebounds if they position in some place so far away from the basket that he can operate no I don't think so well that's the other question you ask yourself because when you're not getting offense of rebounds you don't write ours offense of rebounds down down two tenths of a rebound it's not a ton Justin is lacking aggressiveness replied censor the exact same lacking a want for the ball exact same as last year may attacking the basket as much as he attacked the basket the bad I mean I I would agree I think we all agree that he hasn't developed the way we everybody hopes you know I've maybe after Lazare average nearly nineteen a game you thought the okay be a twenty point per game scorer but lack of aggressiveness seems to be the biggest thing because there aren't like these huge drops in his numbers the only number where you see a significant disparity from last year to this year is in the number of shots per game he is taking so that is something with the offense is that that he's not aggressive enough remember Joe Cali when he joined us couple weeks go covers the bulls for the sun times he thinks it has something to do with the added weight he put on he said he doesn't look as quick and as smooth as fluid as he has in years past any blocked up a little because he wanted to be able to withstand the rigors of the legal of more maybe plan more and it has the year goes on his numbers become better as some of that weight naturally shed so I'll be interesting to see in the second half of the season I suppose I I've really never seen a guy that was more physically fit and more muscular had that been negative on well I don't know I mean Joe was just saying the terms of the way he looks running back Lawrence sort of with you know did he put twenty five pounds of course not no not that what did the way to what a waste now it's another one of these put on fifteen pounds small little dips organized ten fifteen pounds of for two hundred fifty five pound guy phase two fifty ways to sixty five right that's an incremental increase yeah that's true and it's not like you went from two hundred to two hundred forty pounds where you be talking about a very substantial increase in weight your time at six percent six percent and that doesn't blow you out of the water I don't know I don't know what it is I don't think anybody's got an analyst that watch every game rely on eighteen that weight gain is difficult difficult especially if you put on muscle mass yeah I would grab some calls coming up and we're also going to talk to Jeff Dickerson and get the latest on the bears a couple of beers greats including Jimbo covert were so happy about that going to can't in the pro football hall of fame we'll preview the championship games.

"Couple is accused of attempting to robin over driver under the hood that the woman distracted by being topless with Jonathan who on the model all we support them one stop we are not too distracted especially if you're over drivers driving around right now it is pouring down here in downtown Chicago right now Aaron for J. hood tonight till ten o'clock talk a lot of football and bears Matt Nagy were talking some bowls and Jim Boylen article the sun times by Joe Cali saying that it appears that the big man upstairs no no no not that big man upstairs who's making it rained the big man upstairs Jerry Reinsdorf may not be too happy about what's going on with one of his two teams that is not the white Sox I think he's excited about that he's not happy well what's going on with the bulls will get to that in a just a little better also a couple of polls going right now you can get to them on Twitter at ESPN one thousand and I know a couple people ask me what how the polls are going well if you go and vote you'll see but I'm gonna get to him in a little bit about a twenty minutes maybe bottom of the hour the first one in which pro sport is head coaching at manager the head coach or manager the least important end on the other side of the coin in which pro sport as head coach manager the most important you can go to at ESPN one thousand on Twitter and we'll get into that probably around nine thirty we'll talk about that will also get into more Jim Boylen and just a little bit get in that Joe Kali article not a lot of time but I want to get into some more stuff with the bears as it is a short week for the bears they get ready to take on the Detroit Lions for the second time in just a couple of weeks they got a win here at Soldier Field so let's see what they can do with the lions this coming Thursday and again remember before the game me and my goal be right here in the studio the first Midwest bank studio from nine until kickoff get you ready for the bears and alliance now general I'm skews guy who joins the station every week every Tuesday with our guy David Caplan in the morning nine to noon the thing is right around ten o'clock today and there's a lot of things that our lives he has to say he's been a proponent of Mitchell service you over the last couple years he is also criticized Mitchell to rescue over the last couple years in a normal game against the giants for best use numbers for the contest okay he was twenty five for forty one for two hundred and seventy eight yards still is natural for three hundred yards in a game this year but twenty five for forty one to seventy eight with a touchdown and two interceptions quarterback passer rating of sixty nine but Arlovski earlier today with cap said Hey he played really well where do you work up I thought he played I thought he made seven throws in nineteen thicker than that game where his best rows of the year one of his interception detective all right like it you know for the second straight week kind of a ball it goes up in the air and I thought if you don't like you made some nice throws down Robinson down the field the big crossers you got you talk about the touchdown that gets called back he ran the ball himself that was by far large for his best game of the year by far his most confident game of the year by far the game that most look representative this is the kid that was in the Pro Bowl this year that their last year that was trending in the right direction so he played good anyone does you played bad is just strictly looking at numbers yeah and there is numbers of two seventy eight at Yahoo if you look for the one touch down the two interceptions I mean I always say this every week when service your throws someone I sit down and I watched Tom Brady any overthrows receiver and I watch Aaron Rodgers he overthrows under throws if you watched our Rogers on Sunday you would think Hey what is this guy rocky this you don't know how to play the game he was brutal again San Francisco the other day but every quarterback throws interceptions except I think Brady he doesn't so many interceptions he does miss impasses here there and usually Rogers doesn't throw interceptions I think he was seventeen touchdowns and two interceptions or something like that but he was turf in the ball thrown over people's heads the problem with Mitch is that when he throws an interception they usually don't have a lot of office supplies so it really stands out allows you one other thing he had to say Eddie Olczyk said wouldn't make sense for the bears to actually run more hurry up offense since it seems the bears interest you do well with that no I think it's a brilliant idea I I think it's something that you're talking about momentum quick turnover bash change your feeling good you don't really think about the the last game so to speak in the bad things that happen because the turnover so fast and now you're going into a quick game where if you jump on the team now you have a much better advantage to win the football game and play really well because they're so beat up so I think that I've been I've been think temple for his office for a long time so yeah I think that's a really smart thing that the thing that you got to be able to do with that is and and they did a lot of this lightly so to weeks ago we got a game that there was some tempo and then last week we got a game where there was a bunch of play action pass now I want them together and so that would be the biggest thing is if you feel like you can go operating execute a offense that is based upon play action pass it's still play with that camp out there was generalized earlier today with cap and and the thing that bothers me the most when it gets to coaching and Matt Nagy and play calling is that he should have known this you should have figured it out this is what his job is his job is to put his quarterback in the best position to win games and he has not been doing that okay he's been he's not been doing it at all and if his quarterback does well in a hurry up Orvis quarterback does well rolling one way left or right or his quarterback does well on play action passes then you run those unless the opposition's taking them away it seems like the defense is just saying you're the bears offense imageultra risky we figured out that from last year we're not going to fall for any of your trick plays so now beat as with regular football plays in the bears are not able to do that service keep talking earlier today well why the offenses struggled I don't know that's it people take their turns so I mean there's a bunch of plays rather game and everyone everyone takes a turn it's nobody's perfect out there I make mistakes guys make mistakes and it just so happens that on offense if the right guy makes the mistake then play is not going to work and if they advance because the defense you can ever got messed up on defense and can be away from the play and then somebody else might tackle it's fine but on offense there's always key spots were for god doesn't do the right thing then it's gonna be highlighted and we're not gonna have successful place so that's why we just got to keep going with that mindset that nobody nobody can mess on the way to take a playoff is gonna be all them guys on the same page that way it doesn't matter if you're to the ball away from the ball we're we're making the plays were in the right spot on the same page and that's also the idea of being more play more consistent football that's what we need to guy that seem to lack confidence a couple weeks ago he seems like he's getting it back at least he sounds that way let's see what happens on Thursday when they take kind of alliance three one two three three two three seven seven six you want to talk about Nagy interbase ski and what's going on I mention this last week and I mentioned on the pre game show with My Girl and thanks all the people the nice people lot of fatties in dekalb we were out there on this past a from nine until noon had a great time doing the show had I had a lot of fun lot of people came by unfortunately the school was out so a lot of the college kids were gone to a lot of the people who live in dekalb stop them by was nice to see a lot of people they came over by you look at it the bears were like in a no win situation against the giants you beat the giants and no one's happy because you only one by five the giants stock you should one buy more but they were lost they would have been done at all how do you lose to a team this bad it's so you were in a no win situation in this Thursday is about the same alliance who started the season off so well are brutal right now and now without Matthew Stafford and may be without you have to recycle your to be going up against David blog as the third string quarterback the bears need to goal and they need to step on the lions and and it quickly and that would be nice to see this Thursday the first game of the day the second game will be buffalo against the cowboys could be a good game cowboys are struggling the ride home as they always are at thanksgiving and buffaloes come in and played well I like watching the could Josh Alexander the saints and falcons nice division battle coming up for the a third game of the night three one two three three two three seven seven six let's take a look at the the polls and we'll get into why I ask those these questions and I touched down a little bit last hour by you're looking at the first pull was in which pro sport is head coach manager at least important there's been so much talk the last couple days about Jim Boylen in about you know about Matt nat yet all that stuff soul coming in last at four percent is football the football is the ease least important in football our hockey was second of fifteen percent baseball which I voted for third eight thirty six percent basketball the winner at forty five percent it which pro sport is the head coach manager at least important and of the voters that voted forty five percent of you said basketball.

"The ball to their their forwards Nehemiah Nikolaevich and also see pong was head on the station a couple of weeks ago. So it would be nice. If he fits in. The fires got a thirty four game schedule they have one tie and two losses. So far they're hoping for their first win today. And thought of you reading this story about the Lauri Markkanen started me too. Well, yeah. Because shoot just like him. Exactly. Yeah. You can shoot the ball. Now the way try to avoid all BS right here. The story was was Joe Cali. The other day Markkanen has experienced a rapid heart rate twice in the last month. And he told reporters he felt authors game in the first half. And had initial concerns about a racing heart in two thousand eight I had a situation similar to that. And I ended up having a thing called cardioversion. Now, they obviously are not going that far with him. But they did say that he's going to be out for the remainder of the season. Which is six games. I think but yeah. We'll see if that's what he needs. Sometimes the rapid heart rate there. Obviously other reasons I'm not a cardiologist, but I've had it actually had just had one. I what was it February twenty eighth another one of these cardioversion where they they what happened is party or the top part of your heart flutters a little bit instead of just pumping lay as opposed to and they basically hit all control delete on your heart shock you back in a proper rhythm. So maybe that's the situation again that was mine. I don't know exactly what his is. But it's difficult to play when your heart feels as gonna pop out of your chest. Yes. And especially when you're running a data cord for thirty four minutes of a game. And they said basically the first time he felt it was the four over tax. Game. Which makes makes sense. He was probably out there and pushed himself a little bit further than he needed to his heart told him. Hey, what do you do it slow down a little bit? So we'll see how this all plays out. But it's a it's a scary situation for players because it could always be something worse than that. Hopefully, it's that SOX fans are responding have a Twitter poll, let's bring any love. London. Eric SOX fans was the question who will lead the White Sox in home runs this year? Multiple choice Jose Abreo roundup theon usual suspects because Eli Jimenez and Daniel polka now last year. I look this up all by myself. Polka polka last year. Twenty seven homers in just a little over four hundred bats. At AA and AAA added together same amount of at bats at four hundred sixteen twenty two homers doubling to play in high understand and Abreo had an off season last year. He had five hundred and fifty at bats his playing hurt missed some time just twenty two home runs. So you got twenty two last year, but of Radiohead than thirty six thirty twenty five thirty three. So last journal Breyer twenty two twenty two and a AAA and twenty seven I'm pretty interested in the weather's vote. When he said, I said a braille. That'd be the natural. I said Abreo if he can stay healthy football season. And we'll see, but you know, it could be again if but see the problem is Paul has got to be able to get that many at bats again if he slumps early and he was awful in the spring. He was as bad as he and happened the spring dollars two guys were pretty equal. And I'll polka made the team del Monaco didn't. And I think the reason he made it was because of his twenty seven homers last year everybody this week surprised at he half got demoted down to AAA. We went about it for a month. Yeah. He was not having a good spring. No, no. And the Twitter Paul was very simple, but very difficult. I believe to answer cub fans, which is the cud strong suit. Is you're pitching or hitting. Bringing erica's Trask fellas. I don't know. I wrote this last night that this is a good one. And then I keep changing my own mind. My vote the cubs starting rotation. And we I hate the young healthy. So. Given for any team that doesn't mean anything. Scouting rotations good as gets one through five the hidden. Well, we all know what happened last year fell off. August fell off dramatically in September. Twelve runs in the first game which small sample size. Pitching. Well, the bullpen. You know, you can poke holes Zenit strong and Marl supposedly coming. I think this is going to be about a fifty fifty. I'll go pitching to split has since I have to vote. Yeah. I would say hitting hitting okay. I answered the question. Indy. Seven percent of the voters said that Hayden is the cubs strong suit surprised, but I'll tell you starting pitching his lights out, but the hidden can scurrying runs. I'm gonna go with the pitching. We'll find out after they play the games. Couple of quick updates White Sox have an afternoon game today. One fifteen it's raining and Kansas City again. So get ready from roar entertainment from the studio, and then also Fred Hoiberg coming back to coach not here, Nebraska. It's apparently all beneficial. And they're just waiting for the press conference. Probably this weekend at Kansas City. Every day is a poncho rain gear. Yeah. It's it's it's not it's supposed to rain all weekend in Kansas City, and they were supposed to get the Thursday game in without rain. And then the forecast changed. It was miserable there for the longest time in any baseball leads to two of the three errors for all your little leaguers, Derek. That's right. Oh, the rain make sure that when you're getting ready to throw the ball. And you had all Tim Anderson all the time in the world. And then even Jose Ray, you just he he jumped he could've just looked over his head. I did not see that play. But I guess it was time to it was I wanna say it was a catcher somebody running. It was not a fast guy running which is rare in Kansas City because they have Billy. Got they've got they've got a really really really quick team Billy Hamilton now. Yeah. Right. So so they got a really really fast team and are expected to lead the league in stolen bases this year. And he had plenty of time to look at the ball through it. Working back in the day with Abner Doubleday inventing the game. He said why don't you think we should start this season? I said how about about April fifteenth? Yeah..

"Turn our attention to free agency in the draft will get a full recap of the combine from Mel kiper. Jim you're the best in the business. Don't miss now. Twelve thirty. Thoughts from his first ever. Combine if you can believe it. He was there in person for the first time, and we'll talk running back position very important for the bears this off season. Plus the latest on the cubs and the White Sox in Arizona and the bulls and the Blackhawks join us at noon on ESPN thousand in the ESPN app. Thanks, welcome back on ESPN one thousand with Jordan cornet. I'm David Caplan, dann Wieder had switch on us. We put him in. And now we go back to bulls calls we'll get shot no shot in a little bit later. Let's go to Matt Rockford. Hey, Matt what's going on? Can't love the show. Thanks. I just wanted to say this time period right now with the ball with guard packs, it just reminds me of is the the Oakland Raiders, I used to be a big raider Sam back in the day. Don't ask me why. But. There was a period there with Al Davis after he shooed Gruden out after they lost the Super Bowl to the bucks were just dawned on me that nothing was really going to get better until holiday. There. Matt. I think we lost Matt back. Call us back. He had a bad cell. I think he was saying something about it would be better to Davis was gone. I think kind of relate that back to our packs here in Chicago, he feels like until they're gone. It won't be better. Let's go back to the phones. Three one two three three two three seven seven six Daryl's in the south loop. Daryl what's going on, buddy? I still good cookie. Jordan, sorry, buddy. Appreciate it, man. Okay. The polls like you're talking about. There's no plan in place and a plan in place. I love the Butler trade I actually do some writing freelance writing sports I wrote an article right after the summer trae when everyone else is ripping it falls made a great deal Bill Ryan way, if they actually had a plant life plan was last year. I watched a lot of trae on at Oklahoma. Well, everyone started falling often bandwagon in Oklahoma started losing I watched this kid, I just kicked to play. This would be perfect with market and and Levin done there. 'cause Duncan kinda like do the gardening formulas a tougher offensive player. I saw fit perfectly with the bulls would have been perfect for that offense. And the thing is to like seventy a point guard like that. Schrafft's other teams other players wanna come there. Because of the fact that you're to make them look good put the ball in the right situation. Sort false her a lot better team moving forward than they are with a Wendel Carter. John your voice more of peace. You kind of fit in later on when you're missing it doesn't make you start. Our you getting trae young he was gone before you ever pick. You had no assets to move up. And if you could've moved up to take advantage over trae young. By the way, just studying Australia guy, all along I didn't watch Don-Shik, obviously, he was in Europe. But the point is if you lost some games that you want in English games. Sean Kilpatrick different things and win games. You should not have won that hurt your traffic last year. They acknowledged the tank here you've got to know how to do the tank too. You're right. You can't let a player like trae young leave your grass and you end up with a junior. What are you say something else real quick too? I had a coach moving forward. Coach right now you played on a couple of years ago. He's one of slow guys they athletic Riazan, Rondo watch a coach analii Rizon Rondeau the young players. Love them. Donald we got a raw because we gotta get the break. He was not going to coach. Now, they just never going to happen. He wanted to keep playing does he want a coach down the road? Absolutely. He does. But again trae young was not gonna be there. We can all say that they should have tanked better last year. We would all agree with that. Just didn't happen. They got hot December and ended up costing them. Three one two three three two three seven seven six. Trae owns a hell of a player. It's a great shooter. We'll take a fast time out. We'll come back to more of your calls. Jesse? "And you know, sometimes when people look back, it's always better to look at the good things into the focus on the bad things happen. I mean, you want to know about the bad things that you can say, no, we're never going to do that again, but you know, the fifties were a at time, but the kids that are growing up today are also having a good time. Very, we'll send and you know, I had a Don most. He put he was unhappy as and I had David Neil nail. Yeah. And David Newell who was on mister Rogers neighborhood, and now I'm blessed to be able to talk to you. I just feel like TV will never get as good as it was. I mean, I'm not saying it's not good. I'm just saying. You guys did, especially, you know your work on leave it to be in my opinion, in my lifetime will never be duplicated. And that's just my opinion. I think there's a very good reason for it. The writers were very, very good, Joe Cali, Bob mosier where some of the or probably not some of were the top writers in the industry at that time. But I think another thing that makes leave it to be or have stained power that has is all those things come from real life. So yes, they were tuned up maybe or, you know, modified the things I did on the show, but all those things really happened to kids. I know a lot of the shows I watch today and I do watch television. It's not like I don't watch television, but a lot of our jokes, you know, they're trying to get in jokes and so they, they twist the plot around so they can get into joke. And then they put on the laugh track. And you know, I find it amusing sometimes, but other times I just go, that's why they did this because they wanted to get in that joke, but leave it to beaver has a storyline. You see beaver either makes a mistake or he does the right thing. If you make some estate a consequences, then they're not the end of the world. And he learned lesson that's really well said and thought out. And one of the things that I wanted to ask you as, you know, we look at all these things that happen. We talk about how times of unfolded you've been acting since two years old. I mean, before you even get to that show before you even get to leave it to beaver, I wanna say you were in like something like two hundred television episodes, and I want to say, I don't know how many movies people assume that like your first role was leave it to be. That's the way off. Well, the of there's a good reason for that is that leaves to beaver as shown forever. It's never been off the air Tober. Thank you. Fifty seven and Joe's all over the world. So it's not even in this country. It's all over the world. I forget how many different languages, but it's multiple multiple angles and it's just a really good show. I think because it came from real life and it just wasn't a joke. Show people just trying to get up there and tell topical or just jokes that they thought would last for a while. It's really about a little boy growing up in America, but it doesn't have to be America because it plays all over the world back sits money. Like in Japan, they have a little girl that dubbing my voice and not make speaking eat that ever. I boy, but it's been Germany. It's, you know, all over the world and a lot of places. That's how the American family was presented to the world was in through to beaver. Yes, it's true. And you know, you reference earlier, you said, you know a lot of shows today in your right, trying to go for that being laugh and I know for my research on your life and your shows the the, the people involved with leave it to beaver, made a conscious effort to not go for that big laugh. Why is that you think Jerry? Why was that the case of didn't want it to be show that you know you? It compromise leapt beaver always has a message in the message is very, very simple. It said, if you do the right thing, things go well for you. If you don't, you know, it's not the end of the world because you can. You can get back, but you know, you're going to have some problems. So when beaver makes a bad choice or his friends talking and they keep the bad doing. There are consequences to to your actions and you know, and in children have to realize that, yeah, it'd be a great world. If you know you're the only one in it and you were the little king and could every you wanted. But that's not the life work for most of us. Wilson, you know, one of the things I couldn't around my head around is that your young kid at the time, you're definitely well-grounded, that's for sure. But the people that you have chance to work with Hitchcock Bob Hope, Alan Ladd and you're running into people like Cary Grant and Spencer, Spencer Tracy onset. So I get your professional even as a young kid. Are you ever overwhelmed Jerry? I mean, those are some of the biggest names ever. I don't know how many people get talk about personal experiences with Hitchcock. Right? So I'm on. I that on Alfred Hitchcock you'll laugh and red lines, and it was very normal. I would go over there and he'd say, oh, Hello, Mr. matters that he was very first person to ever called me Mr. Mather's I talked to them later because he came in dip, DOE l. prohi- Kat presents of on the universal lot. Any any still called me Mr. Mather's that you know that he said, if you're an actor euro Mr.. And. You know it. So I had a lot of respect for him and he was just a really, I hate to say this because it might destroy some people thinking about, but he's a fun person to be around and I'd sit there and I that he my lines and you know, Shirley MacLaine and John force I would come over and we'd all read the lines and he'd say, all right, yes, let's go shoot it now. And it was kind of a nice experience because you know, when you're working on a sad, it's on a studio said, but this was in Vermont. So we were out there and you know, we're in the in the countryside, and the ladies would bring blueberry muffins. And we kind of have a conscious because he was a gourmet and he go up and down the lines looking for the best one and pick one, and I'd always follow right behind me. Oh, is that the one today? Mr. talkin I usually get the very bad through the baby the second best because even the best he would pick the best and it was just a really good time. And you know, chilling mclean's first movie when John foresights verse movies. So this was before leaves to beaver. So it wasn't like I was, you know somebody that even had. Name or anything. And he just me very, very well lets you almost have to have Alfred almost has to have a good sense of humor to have. You know, because of the content he puts he's an absolute genius, but you almost have to be a fun person to kind of put that's the phone. Don't you. I think so as I always it was kind of a strange for me because a lot of people were so afraid of him. And you know, I heard, you know other things about him over the years, but I never had any problems like that. And I just knew as very nice man who you know two very good care of me taught me how to say lines and said, you know, I think it would be better Jerry if you said it this way for this particularly, you know, I would just do it and go. That's very good. Mr matters. You know, your story reminds me a little bit of Ted Williams, right? Because the show is doing great. Leave it to be on top of the world, but you know what, please correct me if I'm wrong. Any of this, you walk away to focus on your education. You enlist in the air force, national guard. You know my God, how many people would have done that? Jerry, I have to tell you they would have stuck through it. You did. It speaks volumes about your character. Talk to me about that thought process. Talk to me about what's in your mind at that time of your life. Well, you know, I been working since I was two years old, so it wasn't like working on us series even though leave to be, you know, the longest running Joe intelligent history and everything. It was very popular, but I done movies with, you know, Alan Ladd Elford, Hitchcock, and all all sorts of different people that are very, very big star. So it wasn't anything that was new to me, but I'd never been to school. I had a private tutor from the first grade until the eighth grade and the eighth grade was high school. The other thing that I kind of down on with sports because by dad was a coach, he retires superintendent schools, but he was a coach. So sports were always kind of very big, you know, in my life, you know, I had a basketball court in the backyard or Baskin. I could shoot at court, but and I love sports. So I really wanted to be in school because I had a private tutor. So I didn't have any other people in the class when I was in the the fourth and the fifth grade. It was me and the teacher. If I was good at certain Nath problems, she'd move onto the next. If I was having a little trouble with something else. We can stay on that for a week if we do until I was not only up to great, but beyond it, no, you know, is a fun experience and I really liked it, but I wanted to go and do some of the things. Dad, his dad is a military guy. Dad's also coach, he retires a superintendent of schools how much dad being a military guy affected your decision to go in the military. Well, it was very, very, definitely a big part of it, but I was always a military person. In fact, I have a collection of military items that people from the show of leave it to be. A lot of the guys gave to me because need all been in World War One and World War q.. A lot of brought home souvenirs, which at that time really weren't any big deal, you know, and one guy brought in one time a helmet and he said, did you like this? And it was a German World War One home. And I said, oh, that's great. And I started a collection which I've collected ever since so it, but it was more like a huge family too. People don't realize that when you're doing the show, they see Tony, Dow Barbara billions of Hugo mod cannot Missouri asked when you know Franks's rough, Larry Rutherford and grow lumpy to after. But you know, there was a whole crew behind there and they all had families at home and the thing about it. You can't make a kid work, so you wanna keep them happy. So. They'd come and they'd talk, and we'd held tell stories, and you know was just a wonderful way to grow up. Yeah, sounds like getting, you know, there's when I was researching your life. There's rumors galore. Nothing bad, but just rumors galore. One of the things I read was, I think, what is probably that I've had killed, I was. Accident at
