We've got Mitch Golding here for what is undoubtedly my favorite day of the year, and that is relaying the results of me picking all 272 games on the NFL calendar. I have Mitch here because he is the editor that actually has to fact check the most ridiculous thing on our content calendar. I don't think it's even close. And also to do all of the tiebreakers. So I should ask you first, Mitch, how are you feeling about all of this? I'm great. I love the NFL tiebreakers. This is me in my element. I wish I could just spend my entire year doing nothing but NFL tiebreakers. I think I'd be very good at the, you know, the basically Steve Kornacki after one of the recent election cycles, they just started letting him do it on Sunday Night Football. He comes on the pregame show and the halftime show. I could do that job. Now, I love Steve Kornacki, and so I'm not trying I'm not coming for his job and I'm not trying to say that he is bad at his job, but I think that's like a role for me that I could easily handle. Just put me on there talking about tiebreakers. Oh, I love it. But Connor, I have to ask you, is this really one of your favorite days of the year? Because that's a classic thing that you say now. Let's go behind the curtain. We are taping on Wednesday and this will be revealed Thursday. I know you. You will be a ball of stress. You will be getting requests for radio shows in cities where you said their team is going to go 5 and 12. You're going to have fans yelling at you. I think you're going to be a little bit stressed tomorrow. So just try to remember right now this feeling of how happy you claim to be and try to just keep that in mind tomorrow when when people start slinging their arrows at you. You're right, Mitch. I think that the day when, you know, all radio stations want to have you on to either praise your pick or be skeptical of your pick or fight your pick. I famously got into sort of a verbal fisticuffs with a Cincinnati radio host before the year that they went to the Super Bowl. I had them projected for four wins. And I think I said over and over on the air, find me more than four wins on that schedule. I think Joe Burrow did that and then some. He got him. And but since then, you know, come full circle and everybody in the playoffs alone, which is why if you're a loyal listener to the podcast, you know, I became a Bengals fan. So it's all good. It all. Yeah. Oh, we buried the lead. Connor, how was your first week as a Bengals fan? It was great. Although if anyone listened to the podcast last week, I was between the Bengals and the Ravens. And so my wife and I watched the Ravens commanders preseason game where the streak was broken. And I got I got kind of emotional. I mean, you can read what I wrote about it and but I thought this was a very big thing. And I was very standing on the table ish for John Harbaugh and the Ravens in that moment. But I had to get that out of the back of my head. They're division rivals. And just because I almost picked them doesn't mean that I can't root against them. And so full steam ahead. We're just waiting for news on Joe Burrow like everybody else. Mitch. Yeah, it's interesting. Now everything we read of yours will be through the lens of is he being a biased fan here or is he being objective? And I don't know. I don't know. We'll find out. At least now your biases are out in the open for for all to know. I think it's going to be a fun bit to just fully jump from. I just picked this team yesterday to where have you been? I'm a dyed in the wool Bengals fan. I love Skyline Chili. Have you ever had Skyline Chili? I have. I like Skyline Chili. I know it's controversial. I like it. I'm I'm I'm a supporter. What's your like what's your workup? Do you do the whole thing? I don't. I think so. So I have not had it in a long time. So I couldn't tell you the details, but I well, let me try to remember. I think it's like five ways. I like all this, all the stuff on it. It's possible that it has gotten more ridiculous since I've been there and they're putting on like absolutely crazy numbers of toppings just for Instagram or whatever. But last I remember it was the the spaghetti, the chili, the cheese, the onions. There might have been a fifth one. The sort of I feel like I went there for the first time, right before sort of it became a thing on the Internet that people liked to complain about or argue about or say was disgusting or whatever. And so I don't know, there may have been changes in the years since, but but whatever the classic like as of the year 2010 way is the way that I've had it with with all the stuff available to me in that time. Nice. I yacked in a Skyline bathroom once because I just couldn't. The mountains of cheese. I don't like cheese, but I had a friend order it for me. And so I think if I had to do it again, I would do the spaghetti, the chili and the onions and maybe that would be something I could maybe that be something I could stomach and walk away from. I'm not going to disparage Skyline chili because my roommate used to make a really good Skyline chili dip in college. So I think if I could bring that back somehow, I'm pro Skyline. There's nothing quite like it anyway. So no, no, no, no. Don't anyway. Me. I have more Skyline chili takes. Let me give you a pro podcast is brought to you by Skyline. By the way, I have had, I have been to a Skyline chili establishment and I have had it there in the restaurant. I also, I have been to one Cincinnati reds game at, I think it was called great American ballpark at the time and it has some other new stupid corporate name now, but I ordered it at the reds game and you know, at the restaurant it comes on a plate and you're right. It's piled high with all that cheese. At the baseball game, it came in like a plastic Tupperware kind of situation with a lid and they closed the lid so that you could walk with it to your seat and that process of closing the lid. It got so hot in there that all of the cheese melted and it was excellent that cause you're right. It's the, the cheese restaurant. It's like straight out of the bag, just like the, you know, cold shredded cheese where it's the little pieces, but, but uh, in the Tupperware melted all this hot gooey cheese all over everything else I thought was a, it was a great way to enjoy it. So I have no idea if it still comes like that. This could all be different. I think that was back in maybe 2007 so we're, we're talking about a long time ago, uh, me remembering this chili that I had, uh, but loved it at the ballpark with the melted cheese. It's still great American ballpark by the way. Oh, interesting. Which is a, which so great American is an insurance company. Uh, so it is a company name, however, it's just called the great, like if you called it the great American ballpark, I feel like that's solid. Um, that's going to go down a, uh, that's going to go down a rabbit hole, but all right, I'm glad we landed there at skyline chili. Obviously as big of a bangles fan as I am, I'm going to need to learn to stomach that. I'm going to find the way that I like it. And the thing that was really fascinating about that class and something that stuck with me was just that whole concept of Hollywood reinventing the entire Vietnam experience under the premise of, Did We Get to Win This Time? So we got Brian involved and he turned the idea into an awesome, awesome podcast. I even went and dug up the term paper that I wrote 31 years ago. I thought it was gonna be horrendous. It wasn't bad. I was kind of proud of myself, retroactively 31 years later. Anyway, Do We Get to Win This Time? How Hollywood Made the Vietnam War. It is gonna be in the big picture podcast starting on Tuesday. We try not to spoil the doc too much with Gabe, but I really liked him. He's probably the guy that jumps out of the doc in the most sympathetic way. So look forward for you to watch it. But I ended up watching season one of the OC. And my daughter was watching with us and loved the show. And she was born a year and a half after it premiered. So me and her broke down season one from the perspective of what is it like when somebody 18 watches the OC, a show that is now two decades old. The anniversary was actually August 6th. And what she liked, what she didn't like, what people aren't doing anymore for her kind of audience. And we just dove into it. So that is much later. First, coming out of the gate, I'm gonna open a six -pack because we have a lot to discuss over the past three weeks, all the stuff I missed. So that's gonna be part one. And then part two, which is gonna go up later on Sunday night, me and Rossello doing this evergreen idea that we've always wanted to do. And this seemed like the perfect time because nothing's happening in basketball. So that's gonna be part two later tonight. Part one coming up. First, our friends from ProJax. What's up? All right, I'm taping this. It is Sunday afternoon Pacific time. And I'm gonna open a six -pack. There's a bunch of stories in sports and culture that happened over the last three weeks. I was just writing stuff down, things that would have been fun for podcast segments. I was just like, man, I wish I could have given my thoughts on that. Just gonna rip through them. So I have six and then maybe a couple bonus ones at the end. The first one, the biggest one, was the US women's soccer team, which lost today in penalty kicks to Sweden, scored zero goals in the last two games, scored one goal in the last three games, and that was off a corner kick. You could feel from the beginning that something was off with this team. It was all the ways. You knew in a checklist of what are the red flags? There were just red flags galore. And the only person who was really calling it out in time over and over again was Carli Lloyd, who was doing the Fox studio show. And she was the one person in the horror movie who knows the house is haunted. And everyone's like, shut up. You're not being patriotic. You just wish you were still on the team. She was right. She was right from the get -go. This team, you could see it before the Vietnam game when it was like, look at the new Nike suits. Look at these new suits. And they're all like styling as they head into the locker room. And they're running commercials. And every player has a commercial. There's players who've never done anything of that commercials. And the vibe was just off. They only beat Vietnam three -nothing in a bracket where goal differential was gonna be super -duper important. And that was a huge red flag. And we did the usual thing that we've been doing since 2019, 2015 of, oh, well, they almost scored a bunch of times. Oh, well, if that had gone in or some bad luck. There was just an arrogance to this team. Like they were carrying themselves like the defending champs, the same way like the Denver Nuggets would go into next NBA season. Like we're the champs. I was like, yeah, you are the champs because the season just happened. The World Cup happened four years ago. Everyone's four years older or wasn't on the team. And you could see they wanted to build the team instead of around the identity of, here are these new up and coming awesome stars that are gonna be in your life. They were really latching on to Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe. Alex Morgan's 34, Megan Rapinoe's 37. I think one of the differences between the discourse with women's sports and men's sports is that in men's sports, we grasp for angles. And if somebody is disappointing in some way, we really go nuts. Like think of how James Harden's been treated over the last 12 years. So he's one of the 35 best players ever and has taken just an incredible amount of shit. Oh my God, the playoffs, look at his game log. Oh, he choked again. Alex Morgan, who scored twice in her first two games in the World Cup in 2011, she scored once in 2015 in seven games. She scored six times in 2019, five against Thailand in a game that was 13 to nothing, one in the other six, and then scored nothing in the four games this time around. If you take away that Thailand game, she has scored two goals in the last 17 World Cup games. This is the striker. This is the one who's supposed to be the most dangerous player in the field, who's supposed to produce goals. And she hasn't produced goals since the mid 2010s on the national level. And yet it's Alex Morgan. She was supposed to be the next one. We got to keep propping her up and pretending she's a superstar. She's not a superstar. She's really honestly never been a superstar. She certainly hasn't been as impactful as somebody like Abby Wambach was. So you have the team built around her. She's got to play. They play her the entire game, game two, the entire game, game three. She plays like 95 minutes in this game today, and they don't score goals. And the announcers just won't talk about it. It's like being on an AYSO team that your kid's on, and the coach is playing somebody at striker, and everyone's like, why don't they play Sally at striker instead of the coach's daughter? It's like, oh, you know, the coach's daughter. She's got to play there. So you have that, and then you have Rapinoe, who's 37 years old, who's just, unfortunately, great career, legendary, true legend, huge big time player. And when you hit your late 30s in soccer, it's a wrap. She looked like Yudana Rapinoe, not big Rapinoe, and comes out for the last 25 minutes of this game and can't do anything, and then misses the penalty kick. That's the thing. If you're beholden to past performance, you can't expect to succeed in the moment. And I did feel like, what were this team's strengths? Speed. They had Sophia Smith, who really was bad the last three games on the left wing. Like, she just, she couldn't even connect passes. Trinity Rodman, who's a beast. Lynn Williams, who's super fast and athletic and had some really nice moments the last two games. And then Alyssa Thompson, who's the prodigy, who's the, you know, potential tiger or LeBron of this team. 18 years old, best high school player I've ever had. They won't even throw her out there. But this was not a team that could connect passes. They weren't, like, especially creative. The coaching was just bizarre, and we'll never see that guy again. But it was like, the one thing they did have was speed, especially the forwards, and they just threw that away. And Alex, you know, couldn't do anything. So now they're out. It's the most disappointing finish of the last 25 years for the women's team. And it reminds me in a lot of ways that 2004 Olympic basketball team that we had, the USA team. And I tweeted this, I think after the second game, because that was a team that was between eras, like this one was, where all the best players on that 2014, the ones in their primes, weren't that good, except for Duncan. And Duncan was completely banged up. He'd played so many NBA games the last couple of years. I think his knee was hurt. But, you know, it was Iverson and Marbury. The talent, it just was a between eras. And you had guys on the bench, like LeBron and Carmelo and Wade, who were four years away. Kobe wasn't on the team. And it just felt generationally, like we caught that team in the wrong time. The style was wrong. And we learned all these lessons and we moved on. 2008, we win. There's a documentary about it. But this team felt like it was between eras. The Alex Morgan, Rapinoe era, which was basically done. And then you have this era coming up with Rodman and Sophia Smith and Alyssa. And, you know, it's just four years from now, we'll probably be fine. But they need to re -imagine this. And I think if you're gonna learn any lesson from this, it doesn't matter what happened four years ago. It's the World Cup. It matters what's happening now. So that's one thing. Second thing. So Jaylen Brown gets this huge contract, $304 million. Some people seem surprised that it was that much money. Chris Ryan even took a shot at it when we did our library watchables. Hurt my feelings a tiny bit. Mainly because I didn't really have a comeback. Rosella did something on his podcast about how this actually makes sense. This amount of money, when you think of how the salary cap has climbed just since 2015, and it's gonna keep climbing. And there's this world you can go into where you think about just how much everything is gonna cost in the NBA four or five years from now, that Jaylen Brown at $70 million isn't actually gonna be that intimidating. The same way we feel about Tobias Harris for $40 million now, or Klay Thompson, $40 million now. Yeah, you don't really wanna pay $40 million for Klay Thompson, but you can survive it. And I think that's gonna be where the Celtics land with Jaylen. Here's why they had to do it. They're the favorites on FanDuel right now. They're plus 470. The thing that made them the most special and has made them the most special for the last five, six years is the Jaylen Brown -Jason Tatum combo. They've been incredibly successful. The team itself has made five conference finals in the last seven years. They came super close to making the finals last year. I have now gone into the what if zone with that Celtics team where what if Tatum doesn't hurt his ankle on the first play? Do we beat Miami? They were close is the point. And when you're that close, you can't fuck around. This is not Bradley Beal resigning with Washington for 50 million a year when everybody knows you can't get past the eight seed with Bradley Beal. This is different. You're trying to win a title. You're trying to keep all your optionality open. The thing that's a little scary about it, nobody seems to totally know if he wants to be in Boston. This is something we've discussed on this pod. It's been floating out there. The fact that he wasn't happy about landing in the Kevin Durant trade rumors a couple years ago. And just in general, where the league is now, where as Woj called it, the transfer portal, where people get their contract first and then they decide what they want to do. And I think for the Celtics, they know they bought themselves a year with Jalen and they are still one of the favorites to win the title. And a lot of it's going to depend on health and Porzingis. You could also, I don't want to make the case, but you might be able to make the case that Brown had a fucked up hand last year. Cause he did. Cause he sliced his hand open. It was bleeding even during the Philly series. And maybe that was why his ball handling went sideways. Listen, you got to do the contract. It just breaks your brain. I remember a million years ago, Sports Illustrated and Inside Sports say every year they would have like a salary issue. And they would talk about these guys are making $1 million a year. And it seemed like so much money. And now where we're heading with the money, plus the NBA is the meteorites deal. The moment any of these guys becomes unhappy, what do you do? Because you're paying Jalen, let's say you're paying him 55 million a year. Plus he is the trade kicker, which the team has to pay. Right? So if he decides after a year, you know what? I'm tired of being the scapegoat. Everybody loves Jason. I'm like the middle brother of this team. I want my own team. I want to go to Houston or Atlanta. You got to trade me. What are the Celtics going to do? On top of who would want out, you don't have a lot of options and you turn into what the situation Portland's in with Deem. And then on top of it, it's so much money. It's impossible to get any sort of a fair trade for the guy. So they had to do it. And optionality the that comes out of it is frightening. I remember in the early 2000s, when the first time the contracts kind of went nuts and you would see that people get signing like six -year, $100 million deals, seven -year, $110 million deals. And the Celtics really, really stupidly traded for Vin Baker. One of the worst trades of the last 30 years for Boston Sports. A trade so bad, you knew it instantaneously. And I wrote a piece that you can probably find somewhere in the ESPN archives about it, where I compared it to the end of Thelma Louise when Harvey Keitel is running toward the cliff trying to stop the car from going off the cliff. That's how I thought about the Vin Baker trade when it happened. Then it happens and you just had this salary albatross. It's a salary cap league. And you're like, wow, we just threw away 20 % of our salary cap on this trade. There's going to be a couple of those that are just franchise killers. And whether that leads to them bringing back the amnesty clause, who knows? I wish, I've made this, I've had this idea before. I wish that they had a rule in there that if you drafted a guy, every year that he stays in the team, you get rewarded in some way from a salary cap luxury tax type thing, right? So Jaylen was 2016 draft, this would be his eighth year. Maybe like after the seventh year, because that's usually like the third contract. The guy stays in the team, maybe each year after that, he doesn't count for 2 % of the luxury tax, up to like 30%, something like that. The point is the Warriors should be rewarded for keeping Draymond and Klay and Curry from a tax standpoint, that they were that smart to draft those guys, keep those guys together. They should be incentivized, the players, to want to stay with them because there's some luxury tax stuff that the team gets. And the team should want to be incentivized to take care of those guys because it's also beneficial to them. I just wish they figured out some version of that rule. Anyway, Jaylen was always signing for $304 million. Talk to me in a year, I'll keep my fingers crossed. Next thing, I missed the running back pity party. This was crazy. The running backs all got together and they were really upset about how much money they made. And I don't know what to tell you. There's too many running backs and not enough running back spots. And I don't know if you're trying to build a responsible salary cap team in a collectively bargained era, why would you spend $30 million over two years on a running back unless the running back was awesome? Nobody even wants to spend more than $11 million on running back. So I knew that this was crazy when Damien Harris, who was on the Patriots, who I thought was really good. He's maybe not an elite running back, but a good running back, right? Somebody that if he had been on the Chiefs, he easily could have started for the Chiefs. And he signed with the Bills for like one year, 2 million. And when that happened, combined with Pacheco on the Chiefs' seventh round pick, they won the Super Bowl with him. It's just, this position's devalued. I work on this player, I've been actually working on it the last couple of weeks where I try to rank the players for blue chippers, red chippers, pink chippers, honorable mention, and have this whole point system. And so quarterbacks, Mahomes, who's the alpha of that position, he's worth 10 points. And you could even see this in the point spread. If Mahomes gets hurt, the Chiefs are 10 points, nine points, whatever, less than what they would be as a favorite. They'd switch to an underdog. And you go on down the line. Jalen Hurts, I had him as an eight. I had Joe Burrow as a nine. And you go on, you keep going down, and it's like, Geno Smith's probably a two. But then you look at some of the other positions and you have to value them the same way the salary cap values them and teams value them. Guards, they aren't worth that much. Running backs, sorry, they're not worth that much. My top running back was three points because ultimately running backs don't really matter that much. In the last like five, six years, I would say Derrick Henry was the only running back that you could definitively say, this guy almost won the Super Bowl. Like he was that good. Other than that, you know, it's plug and play, quarterbacks, it's receivers. It's much harder to find the number one receiver. Every team needs one. It's much more tangible if you don't have the number one receiver. And it's much easier to just kind of scrap together the running back position. And yet people went nuts about this. We ironically had this in the NBA with centers. You know, Vucevic, who's a really good offensive player, he signed for 60 million for three years, 20 million a year. And Jaylen Brown's going to make $52 million a year. Is Jaylen Brown two and a half times better than Vucevic? No, it's just, he plays a way more important position. You can only play one center at a time. You can patch together the center position. You could have like Isaiah Hartenstein for $8 million. You could, you know, get Robert Williams for 16. You don't need to spend what Phoenix did on Eaton where they're paying $8 and $30 million a year at center. And you don't really need to do that. You kind of feel obligated if you don't want to lose the asset. But I think the NBA is going to go this way eventually where unless it is Jokic or Embiid, the center or Bam Adebayo, it's a bonus. You could argue that was already an overpay. They gave him a huge extension. The Lakers just gave Anthony Davis $60 million a year as an extension. I would argue that's a little frightening. I feel like you could patch together the center position. What really matters in basketball is having the creator. And this was the argument five years ago with Luka versus Eaton for the number one pick. And I made this argument. It was like, go look at who wins the NBA title every year. It's always the people who have the creator. There's somebody who's on the perimeter of the ball in their hands. Even Jokic, who wins the title this year, he was a creator. He's not a typical center, right? He's basically their point guard on offense who could post up. So this happened in the NBA. Nobody went nuts. And this is happening in football. And is this where football is. If you want to make the most amount of money playing in the NFL, I don't know why you would be a running back. I would be a cornerback. I would be a wide receiver. I'd be an edge rusher. But if you're a running back, you know your shelf life's probably like five, six years. You know the money is not totally gonna be there. Now they're in this, like you have people like JK Dobbins, like, I might hold out. It's like, really? You didn't barely even play in the field. Barkley said he was gonna hold out. And then, you know, probably looked at it. And the money for Barkley is like 10, 11 million. That's unfortunately the market. So you can't fix this. They collectively bargained it. And until we get to the next CBA, I don't know how you fix it. I thought it was really weird. It felt like people had nothing to talk about. And it was like, ah, let's feel bad for running backs. All right, let's take a break. And then I'm gonna finish the rest of the six pack. All right, picking up on the six pack. We're gonna talk a little more football. I talked about the running back pity party. This is a different kind of party. The Jets optimism, which has just been stunning to me over the course of July. I have Jets fans in my life. These are people that usually have no hope and are very reminiscent of the pre -2004 Red Sox fans, just assuming the worst at all times. Why does God hate us? All that stuff. And now they have this crazy optimism based on the fact that they brought in Aaron Rodgers, who I did not think was very good last year, just throwing that out there. I wouldn't say he was bad, but for Rodgers, he was bad. I mean, we thought Rodgers was, he was the reigning MVP and we thought he was still one of the five or six most impactful players in the league. And I don't wanna read stats to you for the next six minutes, but deep balls, he was bad. Turnovers, he was bad. Leadership, he was bad. And the case for Rodgers coming back would be, well, he's gonna be rejuvenated. The Jets, New York City. This is his team. He got away from Green Bay. He's got Hackett back. I get it, but he's also at an age where we've really only seen Tom Brady succeed at a high, high level at the age that Rodgers is at. I was trying to figure it out. I have my QB ratings and I had, you know, the top tier is Mahomes and Burrow and Allen and Herbert and Hertz. Those have to be the top five. Then it drops off and it's Lamar Jackson and Lawrence. And then Rodgers, probably a hair underneath him with a chance to play himself up with those guys. But from what we saw last year, I'm not ready to put him there. So he's the 10th best quarterback in the league, probably. 10th or ninth best quarterback in the league, probably. Well, they have no offensive line. And I don't understand why people keep glossing over this where it's like, hey, Rodgers and Garrett Wilson, he's one of the best receivers in the league and Breece Hall's going to come back and the defense is really good. And it's like, yeah, the offensive line is terrible. Beckton and Dwayne Brown, sure tackles again. And then you have Robert Salah as the coach, who I cannot say I thought that Jets were crisply coached last year. Whatever he was doing with Zach Wilson was insane. No idea if that guy's even a decent coach. So I'm already worried about your offensive line, the age of your quarterback, and the competency of your coach. And that's before we get into the hard knocks curse, because for some reason they're doing hard knocks, the incredible Super Bowl hype already. And then we have the schedule, which is the AFC East has just got screwed by the schedules this year. The Jets, just for quarterbacks in 17 games, they got to play Josh Allen twice, they got to play Mahomes, Herbert, Hertz, Dak Prescott, and Deshaun Watson. And then they also have to play Miami twice. We'll see what we get out of two this year. And then a really good Pats defense. And then Denver, who knows, they might be rejuvenated. So Danny Dimes, they have to play him. It is a brutal schedule, so you have that. And then on top of everything else, you're the Jets. I was there with the Red Sox before 2004, and this is probably just as bad, where you just think the worst possible things can happen is all the time. You're not allowed to have optimism when you're Jets fans. You can be cautiously optimistic. There was an entire Curb Your Enthusiasm episode once, season 10, episode seven, about being a Jets fan. And it was called, I think, the ugly section. Nick Kroll was the maitre d'. And part of the episode was about, he would put these people in different sections of the restaurant, depending on how attractive they were. But there was this other plot, Larry's buddy who loved the Jets, kills himself. And Larry becomes convinced it was because of the Jets, that the Jets killed his friend. This was only a couple of years ago. So now they get Aaron Rodgers, and everything's good. And they're gonna win the Super Bowl. I don't see it, guys. I don't wanna step on my football stuff too much, but I'd be shocked. And Lombardi points out the defense that everybody's ready to compare to the 85 Bears. Lombardi said they had two turnovers over the last eight games last season. So that means something too. I am dubious, to say the least. If you're gonna tell me a tortured franchise actually turns it around this year, I want a tortured franchise that doesn't have expectations. Because the Lions are another one. Everybody's ready to put them in the Super Bowl or close. And the only case for them is just pretty explosive offense. They couldn't stop anybody last year. And the NFC is terrible. But that's another one where is that a fan base that should be super excited and have a ton of hype? The one that's kind of lurking that fits in this group is the Browns. Because the Browns are actually super talented. They're in a winnable division. Burroughs already hurt. And I think they're four to one to win the AFC North on FanDuel, something like that. Their over -under is, I think it climbed up.

Greg eklund was that the chief's Bengals nail biter. 45 yard field goal by kicker Harrison butker with three seconds left in the game gave the Kansas City Chiefs a 23 to 20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, played with a high ankle sprain and attributed his success to the chief's training staff. At the end of the game there, I had to run to get the first down and got us into fill Lorraine. So credit to them. And then just trying to stay on it and we have two more weeks. So we got to keep doing it. The Super Bowl will have a bit of a sibling rivalry, as chiefs tight end Travis Kelce tries to take a Super Bowl from brother Jason, the eagle center. He's got all the physical traits required. And if he has a really great year at Oregon, I think he could skyrocket and just massively jump up the charts. The same way actually Joe burrow did in 2019 with LSU. There's potential here for a really big opportunity where he could just impress a ton of people. And maybe turn himself into a first round pick. And when he was hired by the Raiders, a lot of people responded to what I said by saying that, you know, coaches from the Bill Belichick coaching tree, do not work. And I think that's a fair criticism. I really, I hear that counterpoint to my excitement about Josh McDaniels being higher than I go. I understand where you're coming from, actually. I think it's a good point to bring up and a good concern. And when I think of the Bill Belichick coaching tree, never not mind I don't count Nick Saban Nick Saban did not work in the NFL. "Comfort food and so I just, I'm so happy that these two things have really collided. Joe burrow, this quarterback who I'm really inspired by his work ethic, his moxie, his confidence as attitude. It's a quarterback I love in a city I love. And so maybe what I'm going to say here is Cincinnati, can you forgive me? I was skeptical. I didn't think it was going to work. I really not that Joe burrow wouldn't be great now that Jamar chase wouldn't be great. I assumed things were still the way they were when Carson Palmer was a quarterback there. The ownership structure is different, and also Joe burrows better than Carson Palmer was. He's just elevating his teammates more than Carson Palmer ever did. And I just love seeing what's going on. It's a quarterback of a city I love. It's this great combination. And I'm so happy to have been wrong about Joe burrow. It certainly is really kind of cringey to look back at the stuff I said. But in all of that, I hope it's understood that there's a lot of love for the city. And it's a place I just, oh my gosh, I miss it, man. "I don't know how much of an impact that really makes. I would like to see the Bengals doing fantastic. It'd be awesome if they were 8 no to start the year. Where in year one, Joe burrow got hurt, destroyed his knee, and it's hard to not blame the offensive line. And the thing I just did not account for is Joey B is just a wizard at surviving in the pocket. He avoids sacks like crazy. There's a play against the Kansas City Chiefs where Chris Jones has him dead to rights, not once, but twice on the same play, and he avoids a he ducks under it, then avoids a sack with like an ankle bite. And he does that all the time. He avoids sacks like crazy. Like you just are like, I didn't, he's not Russell Wilson. Katie Blackburn and duke Tobin are basically running the Bengals organization. And they've done a great job building around Joe burrow, something I was very concerned would not happen in Cincinnati. They brought in, for example, the defensive line. They brought in toy hendrickson, they brought in DJ reader, they traded for BJ hill, a really great, quiet trade with the Giants to get DJ hill. So the Bengals have the number one overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. And it's assumed, in fact, it's been reported by some people that they are going to draft Joe burrow, the Heisman Trophy winning quarterback out of LSU. It's likely that the Bengals are going to draft a quarterback number one overall who won a Heisman Trophy. They've done the exact same thing before. "They'd be nothing. Denver's a team that's really good on paper. But they don't have a quarterback and they went 7 and ten coach got fired, did not make the playoffs at all. And the impact Joe burrow has had. Yeah, again, the team around him is good, but you need way more than just a good football team. You need a good quarterback. And the amount of times in my notes that I write can't stop a perfect throw when I watch Jill burrows unbelievable because he had a throw down the seam on, I think it was second and 11 to CJ, uzoma. Where he threw it right behind the back of a linebacker into this tiny little window to his tight end and you're like, well, I guess, you know, he doesn't, Joe burrow doesn't need receivers to actually be open. He just needs a defender to beat not draped all over the guy. If you leave a 6 inch window, he'll find a way to fit it in. It's unbelievable. Or some of the back shoulder fades he throws to Jamar chase. You're like, what? By the way, Jamar chase, 9 catches a 116 yards. Look, I'm so happy Cincinnati when it's a cool story. The turnaround of an organization. I love it man. Like, how can you not appreciate what Joe burles done in Cincinnati turned around a football team that was a laughing stock in the NFL and made them now not only a division winner but a playoff game winner. That's really cool. I will say, however, there is one small stain on the outcome of this game in my opinion. Joe burrow made this crazy good play. He's rolling to his right. He's about to run out of balance and right before he steps out of bounds. He throws the ball to the end zone and he gets caught for a touchdown by Tyler Boyd. Now, unfortunately, right before, and I mean like the ball's three feet from Tyler Boyd's hands right before Tyler Boyd catches the ball. There was a random and the technical word that's used by the NFL is an inadvertent whistle that blew on the play. And the whistle blew while the ball is in the air. So in theory, maybe the Raiders defender eased off his coverage a little bit. And maybe you could have made a play on the ball if the whistle hadn't been blown a little bit early. I will admit watching on TV, it sounded like the whistle blew maybe a millisecond before the ball was caught. I don't think it was enough time for a defender to really hear it, process it and react to, oh, I should probably stop playing. I think especially in the NFL guys tend to play until they're certain the play is over and you're throwing the ball to my insole and I'm gonna knock it down. I don't know that I defender could have made a play on the ball even if the whistle hadn't been blown early if that makes any sense. However, so I think it would have been a touchdown either way. But I really don't like that technically that play should not have been a touchdown because what it does is I was rooting for Cincinnati to win this football game. the book A lot of business books can be a little staid and dry This is funny and acerbic and you seem to be having fun writing it What was the process like putting all these ideas down on paper I had fun rewriting it It went through it went through 8 drafts The first 5 drafts were graphic novels So I thought I hate business books They're boring they put me to sleep They can be I think most of them are terrible And I didn't want to write one even though herb Kelleher who was one of my idols basically assign me a homework assignment I thought well I'm just going to do it as graphic novel I'm going to make this fun because it turns out that the stories that I tell in the book are actually they lend themselves to pen and ink There's the destruction of a major city and murder and Nazis and there's a lot of stuff blowing up fun stuff Yeah I mean and it seemed to me like it would be a better comic book And I wrote the drafts as a comic book And then I showed it to herb And he hated it Really He hated it I was an old school though isn't he But he's got a great sense of humor He has a legendary legendarily funny great sense of humor I was expecting he was going to love it and I was so crestfallen when he said Jim if you're going to do it that way leave me out Really Wow And I have to credit him for this There's one herb first of all didn't want to be portrayed as a cartoon superhero Okay And here's the thing Here's why kerb is so much smarter than I am Is because if you tell a story as a graphic novel in pen and ink you're telling a hero story and superheroes are different from you and me I mean with the exception of Batman Batman is just some rich guy Like you word for Batman I'm sure you know I'm sure Bloomberg Scott Crazy stuff He's got a bad kid He's got to fly down Yeah sure Right Tom king calls it the Bloomberg Gulf Stream There you go You know so with the exception of Bruce Wayne and Michael Bloomberg we're going to differentiate ourselves from superheroes There's somebody with us with a power that we don't have So the whole purpose of my book is to say look what makes these super successful companies and super successful founders is not some superpower that the founders have It's this superpower that anyone can access And it's really a story for the everyman And herb stop me for making a giant giant mistake Although I did if you go to Jimmy Kelly dot com I did put some of the graphic novel that I did So you can just download it for free It's a comic book but it's not about herb But yeah I don't think you should have to so here's the thing Barry The reason I wrote the book is because if you're in business or in life you're going to occasionally run up against this line where humanity has not figured out how to solve this problem that you're looking at And on the other side of that line there's no crowd There's no heard There's no safety in numbers And you are going to feel if you step across that line terrified You're going to feel fear You're going to feel all this thing You're not a superhero for stepping across that line You're just that scared gazelle You've left the safety of the and you're terrified okay Imagine what's like to be that gazelle I mean I see those documentary I almost cry 'cause that was me in grade school and most of high school You know it's just terrifying But unless we get people to step across that line Occasionally I'm not saying live across a lot And I was like being bold or any crap like that I'm saying look a couple times in your life When you run up to the edge of what people have figured out you can choose to step across that line and maybe solve the problem Maybe you're not necessarily going to solve it but maybe you got a chance at it I want more people to do that And so that's not a superhero story So herbal her I wish it was still alive 'cause I wish he got to see the final copy of the book because there's not a cartoon in it and it talks about the everyman It talks about this power that we can all have is scared humans So let's talk a little bit about that before we get to what the innovation stack is I want to ask you copying perseverance audacity Tell us about that combination Yeah so perseverance and audacity So we all talk about grit and perseverance and how perseverance is really this laudable thing You should stick with it Don't give up Don't quit you know I'm kind of a quitter except in certain circumstances And I'm not a quitter when I feel threatened When I'm terrified when I'm that gazelle that's out of the hurt So I tend to create situations that put me in those moments I mean even the state of interview I mean I'm scared right now I'm not used to being here You shouldn't be Yeah I know I shouldn't be but my hands are sweating over here Right But the point is if you are audacious enough to step across that line if you are somebody who is willing to do something that seems a little bit crazy then you don't have to have a lot of self discipline Your self discipline comes from your survival instinct And this has always been my hat because I'm a lazy guy I sleep too late There's a ton of lazy in my DNA But there's "When a corner has great coverage, and the receiver isn't open by most NFL standards, and yet you're throwing it behind a defender's ear into a tight window, turning the receiver around for a touchdown like he does with Jamar chase over and over again. That's when you go from really good to deserving to be in the same conversation as Aaron Rodgers as Patrick Mahomes. And by the way, the thing that is not getting talked about with Jill burrow is that the offensive line still needs work in Cincinnati. There's a lot of pressure on Joe burrow and he is making people miss. He's avoiding sacks. He's stepping up in the pocket, moving around a lot in like a little short tight radius and making defenders miss and throwing the ball downfield and stepping into hits and getting hit as he throws and he's dealing man. Joe burrow to me is the top 5 quarterback and he's in the conversation right now with Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers as a guy who is at the top of the league absolutely in the quarterback at the quarterback position. And unfortunately, I think that he learned a bad thing this year, which is that the story Trevor Lawrence is probably going to tell himself is that, hey, we lost because our head coach urban Meyer was a bad head coach. And it'll be easy to not focus on the things that he needs to do better as a player. And I think that's really unhelpful. I hope he doesn't tell himself that story because to put all the blame on urban Meyer would be massively unhelpful and a big hindrance to him. And it's easy to blame people, but what he needs to do is look inward. There's a lot of little things Trevor Lawrence can improve. And the other.

"Sports episode 400 and 39 welcome in. I am very excited. Dude, life is good right now. I'm doing really well. My dad and my stepmom are in town visiting and oh my gosh, it is so great. It's the first time I've seen them in 6 months and it's cool to show them around where I live and my neighborhood and take them to the beach and we're really close and I didn't realize how much I was missing them until seeing them and it's just been such a fun week seeing being around them and really having an amazing amazing time. Let's jump in. We'll talk briefly about Monday Night Football. On Monday Night Football, the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Cleveland Browns 26 to 14 I'm not gonna lie as an objective third party here that isn't a browns fan or a steelers fan. It wasn't a very interesting game. I feel bad. It wasn't a horrible game or anything. There's been way worse football games this year, even on Monday Night Football, especially. But the browns are already eliminated from the playoffs going into the game and Pittsburgh led basically the entire time. The first quarter wasn't very offensively interesting and the Pittsburgh got a lead and they led the whole way after that. And really the big headline was that it was Big Ben's final home game in Pittsburgh. And it was awesome. He won, I was really glad to see that. I can't imagine that moment with him losing would have been really sad and awkward and not like a fitting end to what it was. And the whole game felt like a retirement party for Ben Roethlisberger if I'm being honest. And as I look back on Big Ben's career, by far my favorite big bend moment was his touchdown pass to santonio Holmes in the Super Bowl against Arizona, where he did this crazy ball on right on the goal line. It high in outside santonio home stretches out to catch it and just oh man, and if anyone hasn't seen that, I believe John Madden made the call too. So go look up santonio Holmes, Big Ben touched down Super Bowl Arizona, something with those keywords in it on YouTube. You'll find it.

"I saw a clip of it on TikTok, the other. It actually was YouTube shorts. Told the story about the Chinese farmer and how I'm going to butcher it. The Chinese farmer had his horse run away, and everyone in the village said, oh, that's really bad. And he said, maybe, in the horse came back to the farm with 7 other wild horses. And so I was like, oh, that's really good. You got a bunch of horses now. And the farmer said, maybe. And then the next day, the farmer's son took one of the wild horses out to ride and to break him in. And the sun broke his leg. At ever the village said, oh, that's horrible. Your horse, you know, what are your new horses broke your son's leg? Well, the next day, someone from the military came and said, hey, you know, we're drafting people in the military and his son didn't have to go to the military because his leg was broken. And he actually missed out on a potential opportunity to lose his life. And so the point of that story is that it's exactly what Dan Brazilian said. I'm literally like stealing that entire segment, but he said, look, man, we never really know how things are going to play out in life. And how insane is it that I'm taking a story from Dan Bilzerian? I don't even like the guy. But point is that he is right, though, that you never know what something appears compared to what it actually could be. Good stuff happens in our life every day. And you're not going to know until you see it play out. And maybe Matt carral getting hurt in the sugar bowl is the best thing that ever happened to him. Because he falls through a really good football team in the draft and becomes their franchise quarterback wins a lot of games and has a great career. So you have to be open to the possibility that when something quote bad happens, you can turn it into good. And there is a silver lining. And I think it could be that Matt carrel will fall farther in the draft. But let's be clear, but one thing David, it's totally fine for players to opt out of their bowl games, which I have no respect for and I don't really I have no respect for the bowl games. I totally respect people, you know how much by the way, it takes guts to say I'm not gonna play. Like you're gonna get criticized and all this stuff and it kind of reminds me of, you know, I call up my engagement recently. And I would argue that it takes a lot of guts to call off an engagement and this big obligation and this thing that everyone's excited about your family and people are buying dresses and stuff. And I had to do what was right for me, even if a lot of people didn't understand and kind of bear the weight of that. And the skepticism and criticism I'm going to get for that. And I call it football player doesn't play in their bowl game. It's going to hear it. And they're going to get criticized. But you've got to do what's best for you. Who cares what other people think as long as you're doing what you know is best for yourself and I think it would have been better for mature else future to not play in the bowl game..

"It was like a 72 yard touchdown. He makes a he catches like a 5 yard slant or hits or something makes people miss runs for a long touchdown a bunch of yards after the catch. And it really sparks Cincinnati. And in this game, he had 11 catches for 266 yards and three touchdowns. And all year, Jamar chase is elevated his team and made a difference and helped his football team win games. Let's be clear. He was the right pick. I was wrong. I am so glad I was wrong. I remember being like, they should have got penne sewell, idiots. Why would they draft him receiver? Receivers don't help you win games. David proven wrong, so many times. And I love it, man. And I got to acknowledge it. And I truly, I enjoy being wrong, because the Bengals are so much fun to watch. And there's some YouTube comment throughout there. I forget his name, I don't really care. He was like, I can't wait to watch Zack Schumer be disappointed when Kansas City beats the Bengals. No, no, no. No, it was an awesome moment. Cincinnati won. And I really love what job was done elevating the Bengals and beating Kansas City was the culmination of so many good moves made by Cincinnati. It's not just Jamar chase, it's not just drafting Joe burrow. It's bringing in Larry ogan Joby from Cleveland. Trey hendrickson from New Orleans. BJ hill from the Giants. Casey put up 28 points in the first half of this football game and only three points in the second half. That defense stepped up. Great coverage in the second half, getting pressure with their front four. A lot of pressure on Patrick Mahomes. And then look, man, Joey B made throw after throw after throw. He was dealing. That dude looks like a Hall of Fame quarterback already. And it's kind of funny actually, you know, the ravens defensive coordinator like last week said, well, let's not put him on the Hall of Fame just yet. And yeah, it's a year or two, that's a bit ridiculous. Who knows how his career is going to play out. But, man, like, I'm telling you. I am not over hyping Joe bro. In fact, if anything, I am somehow underselling Joe burrow. Joe burrow was 30 for 39 passing against a really good Kansas City defense. It's made Casey's defense is really come alive in the second half of the year. And Joe burrow shredded them 446 yards four touchdowns, zero turnovers, and the guy got hit a ton. He's the most sacked quarterback in the entire NFL. The offensive line, they still need work. I mean, Joe got his nameplate ripped off of the back of his Jersey. He was getting hit so much. He probably ripped him off. I'm sure he ripped it the rest of it off himself. But I remember watching it slowly peel off his Jersey. And I got things like barely hanging on. And in spite of the fact that the ovens online is struggling. It's by the fact that he's having to really, how many times have you watched Joe burrow at all? He's avoiding sacks. "And I do think in game adjustments going to be big. Absolutely. Now you mentioned some of the defense, but I mean overall lap. This appears me a very winnable game for the Bangles. Yeah, The first thing I always look at is Who's the opposing team's quarterback? And if it's you know Tom Brady or Russell Wilson, you go. Uh, maybe not so good. But we're talking Kirk cousins here who look it has always been serviceable, but not a guy that's just going to Throw the entire team on his back and win the game, and they'll have Dalvin cook it running back as good player Adam feeling and what Justin Jefferson and wide receivers so there's some weapons there, but not Not an attack. That is that didn't seem that formidable my wrong. I think I think it is winnable football game, and I think which Kirk cousins shows up. Last year Rocky Kirk cousins the first six games in the season to tender receptions, and they went one in five to start the season than the last 10 games of the season. The only true three And they went six and four and he threw 35 touchdown passes, which was a career high forum and he threw for like 4300 jobs. I mean, he had he. He's the kind of guy that drives you crazy, because when you look at numbers It's like, Actually his numbers were like 40 to 65 in terms of yards. Serious numbers. I mean, that's that's unbelievable and every single one of them inside the 20 Yard line and Justin Jefferson rookie from LSU. Maybe catch just 1400 yards broke Randy Mosses records in both of those categories. 14 30 yards or second most by any rookie in the history of the NFL. This dude is a great player, man and So they do They have some. They have some some weapons but in my mind if you let Dalvin cook it off, you're going to have a long day. If you control him and make it one dimensional, like you say. Um Then, then, yeah, Things get a little bit tougher for any quarterback in the National Football League, and I think they'll definitely get tougher for Kirk cousins. He does not run again. But it's a confidence it's a mental issue. How would you do? And how do you think the Bangles are going to try to get him involved and get him to become a player? We all want him to be. You certainly can't let one bad play. Turn into three or five. You know you're going to get over it. Move on, but the dude he's got. He's got some skills. Now he's got a great skill set. Adam Silver Says Play-in Tournament Expected to Stay
"What are your thoughts on the NBA player playing tournament to keep it or scrap it? Keep it. I loved it. Made the last 10 12 games of the season. You know so many more teams. So many more fan bases were emotionally invested, You know, from 6789 10 11 12 seeds, so I loved it, And I know some of the players didn't Sorry to hear about it. If you don't like it come to, you know, go find another line of work because it was outstanding for the game. And the game is bigger than any individual. The best part about that to me about keeping it is that anybody think about tanking Making something part of the progress process. You can't do that because Everybody wants to compete more than ever before. Players like Look, we know you got to make organization decisions, but we have a chance to get in the playoffs, get playoff money and understand the playoff experience, then that's going to work for us, Adam Silver says is here to stay. It should stay. I don't care Anybody else has to say about it. This was a boon to the NBA. It was not a detriment when it comes to the end of the regular season. "Kind of unspectacular but if they would have had four or five games added into their it would have been able first of all. He probably would have beaten. Justin herbert for rookie of the year. And would have been right there along with herbert. Who everybody thinks is going to be the next great thing to put in the national football league. Not that he's not. But i just i just think there's a lot there's it creates so much such a wide spectrum of results of what could happen early this year because we don't know what we were about to see. Yeah no i again. I just for for the point of illustration with carson died is did this on the fly. Carson didn't know forward. He played fourteen games. The seven five touchdowns ten picks he was sacked nineteen times. Completion percentage sixty two six. There's obviously other metrics you could use over those final seventeen games. Thirteen to eight touchdown interception. He was only sacked. Six times for the protection got better. He completed almost sixty nine percent of his passes. He weaved last second magic on the road at baltimore. He nearly beats tom. Brady the defending champion patriots on the road. The game before he got hurt. You saw him make that second half leap. And we didn't get a chance to see that from joe burrow and that to me is i would i would i would. I would have loved to have talked about this season. And who knows. Maybe they win more games and they don't get to march as in the whole offseasons different but from his point from his perspective individual perspective. It would have been so much more fun to talk about what he might be able to do. What you could still do Having the benefit of something to look at it over the final half of the season than him wearing a boot yeah crushing. There's no doubt it but you know that's when we talk about the wide spectrum to me. It's the bottom part of it that you get nervous about because you know if what do you say when when when did you start to get nervous about it. You know what i mean. When does when does he have if you have a second season in. It's again okay. Are you now concerned that it's not going to happen when when there's just you know you obviously you're gonna have plenty of time. They're not gonna any a limit on the amount of opportunities. Joe burrow gets to prove himself here. But it's like you know there is honor to it. It doesn't excite to show itself very quickly this year. He doesn't need to kind of be a guy right away like that's because that's what his career arc is supposed to be. You don't wanna fall behind that and use the injury thing as an excuse. And i'm not saying that what happened but i do think for that reason. There's a lot of intrigue in the long-term vision of his career right now. Yes and learning exactly who he is. And that's kind of to me one of the most important parts of that that there isn't urgency to it. So that comes out tomorrow at the historical year to leap now..

Who of course was in last year's draft but it's a risk and if just enfield's goes on to be an all pro guy and chicago and the bears answer quarterback. One season estimate put them right around a top five tight end. Greg olsen was great and not only was he great but we also saw from cam newton in that stretch that he could give you greg olsen. Who could finish as a top eight tight in five straight seasons and give you a number to wide receiver in four of those five seasons three or four of those five seasons whether it was. Steve smith or kelvin. Benjamin and even ted ginn one year. So that's interesting. Dallas Cowboys Reach Multi-Year Deal With Star Quarterback Dak Prescott
"Salary cabin number for two thousand and twenty one is going to be twenty two point two million dollars all right now. Head dak prescott. In franchise tag again this will happen in a procedural sense but had to cow tried to go at this with dak prescott on the franchise tag for the two thousand and twenty one season. We've talked about this a number of times. That value would have been thirty. Seven point seven million dollars so the fact that the cow is now have him onto the books. We're talking about the value that is on the books in the books. However you want to look at the books whether they're e books or physical books whatever the case may be that value is now twenty two point two million dollars now. I know that we have all said some things about the dallas cowboys but they are not complete dummies. They surely budgeted for the franchise tag value. Because let's be honest. They came about twenty four hours. We think you know. Close to having the actually placed the franchise tag and maybe carried out with that prescott. So the cowboys have room for the franchise tag at the very least so you look at that quake matt that adam schefter was kind enough to do for you. That is fifteen point. Five million dollars that the dallas cowboys suddenly have because they've got this long term deal with that prescott. This is something that we've been saying for two years now. If you do this you can. You can kick this down the road. You can prorate it you can extended you can whatever term you want to put on it. You can spread the impact of the deal out of the signing bonus of the overall guaranteed money out over the lives of the contract so it doesn't hit you all at once. That's the one killer about the franchise tag is that it is fully and completely guaranteed in franchise tag is a one year deal so the value of it last year and dak prescott was on the tag for thirty one point. Four million dollars. The two thousand twenty dallas cowboys had to absorb that value all at once and they would have had to have done it again. Here in two thousand and twenty one but because they have adjusted that they now have fifteen and a half million dollars that they were seemingly budgeting for dak prescott that now they can apply to different areas. Maybe it is a safety. Maybe it's a defensive end. Maybe it's a defensive tackle. Maybe it's you know an offensive tackle. But they want swing tackled death whatever the case may be. We know that the cowboys obviously hold the tenth overall. Pick in the draft. They could go a number of different directions there. They wanna cornerback kayla farther patrick's retain do wanna take one of the tackles and rashawn slater as all this is. This is setting up and this is an important thing. If dallas cowboys the whole point and getting this done with thac prescott besides obviously establishing having the best player on your team for the foreseeable future the point in doing this is to alleviate the salary cap space now. Wentz ends up getting his act together and so the cowboys play in the weakest division in the weaker conference and so now they have this opportunity to really kind of take their future in the here and now they have fifteen and a half million dollars that they weren't necessarily planning on having use it and if they don't use it it is all for not so i mean we are all imploring the dallas cowboys to ultimately use this salary cap space. This is a very very very luxurious gift. That they now have been afforded that they didn't previously have so shattered of course to the dallas cowboys. Let's see here let's move. I'm i wanna talk of course about the bonus the dak prescott because well. It's stupid large. I mean it's amazing. Dak prescott has now the largest signing bonus in the nfl. You look at joe flacco. Mark prescott just hit forty but the reality and we've been saying this forever is that there are so many deals coming around the bend. Josh allens gotta get paid. Lamar jackson's gotta get paid. Baker mayfield's got to get paid extra calories. He's going to get paid the year after that. It's going to be time for joe burrow to finally get paid and when all of those players get paid this forty million dollars a year. "And we're taping this about an hour after a pretty stunning performance by ohio state crushing clemson in the semi final game and so we both had two games. There were both blowouts but the second one didn't go the way anybody thought rights to yeah to blow outs. One felt like the game. You expected alabama notre dame. The other one. I never in a million years that i think it would play out that way. And maybe that's my bad. Maybe i should have more faith in the buckeyes though having only seen them six times having only seen them play A couple big games. Nobody could have seen that coming. I was a little more of a believer in having a little more believer in justin feels. Maybe than you were at least as a passer. And i think some of that honestly stems from hearing all the elite eleven guys. And seeing him there where they raved about him in ways to a degree that they said. He's probably the most talented player they've had come through their Or quarterback and he looked like that god and i mean. This was the had some great performances. Obviously the numbers. You put up last year and at times this year. But i mean on that stage. The one thing that jumped out at me and you are both at the national title game in that stadium. A year ago was when it was head to head because trevor lawrence look fantastic when he shredded alabama as a true freshman. And that's when the hype. I would say that's when all of a sudden everybody fell in love with trevor lawrence and he is gonna be the first pick in the draft and a couple of years from now and he's done nothing to undermine that he's been terrific off the field. "There are multiple reports out there right now. That bo pollini is gone from. Lsu that Experiment did not work very well. So several media outlets reporting this hour. That bo pollini is not coming back on twenty one. That was certainly the most controversial decision that it owes. You're on made let's Welcome in stewart. Mandel to the program. Stuart thank you very much Before we even get to the ball situation. I'd like to get your thoughts on that Well paul i gue-. I guess i would say that. That's something that we've all expected. Since about the second game of the season it just a bad higher and you know it's interesting that a year ago Does ron was getting all the praise in the world for an inspired Higher joe brady the passing game coordinator. Who kinda helps And it was instrumental in joe burrow's rise and that national championship. And then you had some staff changes to make this after this past season and we hire both lean. He's a big name and he's had success before and i get that but it just seemed like it was just such a terrible fit. He tried to revamp their scheme entirely. And this was a program. That had success under dave randall. On defense it wasn't broken. Tried to completely revamp the scheme regardless of the personnel. They lost so many guys to the draft last year and then and then even more before the season. And i just wasn't a good fit and just just a historically bad defensively shoot this year.

Well how do you answer that question. I i hope it meant something when i presented the trophy to vanderbilt soccer team. I said thank you to them and they said thank you back you know. We provide an opportunity. Next thing you know. Sarah fuller becomes story and her jersey and helmet from really unique circumstances in the college football hall of fame right down the street. That doesn't happen if we don't try. I said in september last year was was. Lsu's time and joe burrow's time not knowing who's time it might be this year but it's not as if time passes and you get it again and that's why i thought it was important was because it's about them not about tickets and tv and money and there's plenty of rhetoric about that and you know what we sell. Tickets put things on tv. But i was asked to try to provide an opportunity. And i asked my staff to work to provide that opportunity. I worked with our presidents and chancellors to provide the opportunity We're still working on that or athletic. Directors are coaches and it has been difficult but it is a reward in itself and we want everybody to be healthy. we never waver from that reality. We disrupted games where we still tried to fulfill what i was asked during the summertime and I take that is a great sense of accomplishment For all of us. Everything about something that most people don't know about me is. I wrote my first book when i was eighteen years old and it was so successful. I ended up sleeping on the floor of a garage apartment with five thousand books that i had printed thinking somebody was going to buy them instead. They were furniture. So a bed of books means you're not selling as many books as you want to fire nation but guess what jason's grown he's matured and right. Now he's rocking z. Konami which is all about generation z. And how gen z is going to change the future of business. So i kind of want to start a few steps back jason. Because i'm just curious like how does one get into studying generations wide. Did that interest you. And why did you get into it. Yeah share well that. I book that i wrote when i was eighteen at ended up not selling it first and then becoming a real big bestseller and i started speaking all around the world and i ended up on sixty minutes and i was on. That show is all about millennials. And i'd written a bunch of books and started a company and everything was going great but after that show i started speaking all these corporate executives who are now our primary clients but i was speaking all these exact and he would say such terrible things about millennials and i am a millennial pretty fended lazier titled your pants or fall off. You live with your mom and all this stuff. And i'm like well. No actually. I have my own house in our own office building in my parents worked for me and my pants are on very snugly. Thank you very much. And so so after that i remembered Clear as day. I was in this boardroom. Big public company and the ceo had said Some things about millennial employees. That i just i didn't fully believe and i'd spoken about half a million millennials at that time and so i asked him because i didn't know any better. Now i serve on lots of corporate boards. You know one of the couples on sold for eleven billion dollars. I live in this world now. But back then i didn't i didn't i didn't know and it was really a set up for success so i asked him i said is there any way i can see your data about millennials because you say the turnovers hiring. They're not as engaged and on and on i. I love to understand better. So i can conceptualize it and maybe help also for so. There are a lecture or whatever so they sent the data to me. And the data didn't match with the ceo had just said in the boardroom which basically never happened. Ceo's don't go off the cuff in front of their boards prickly a private publicly-held company like that. So i asked my wife who has a phd. I said denise you know this is. The strangest thing was just in this room with this pretty famous. Ceo they said all these things with great conviction then. I looked at the data and the data doesn't match what they just said. I said what do you think we should do. And she looked at me and she says we start a research for. She's up because if they don't even know their own data if we can help them to understand their data make better decisions and we can really great copy and help lots of peoplesoft. Lots of challenges and so. That's how we got into this thirteen years ago. We founded the center for generational kinetics. We lead research all around the world for many of the biggest brands in the world. And all about separating generational myth from truth through data so leaders can make great decisions whether you're a startup or venture capital or your bootstrapping yet or you're in a big public company getting accurate data and being able to make decisions based on that increases the likelihood of success de risk strategies. That you're looking at drives innovation and so forth and we found that generations in particular or one area where there was just so much myth and so much misinformation and if we gave people great information that it could take action and that was incredibly exciting. We've had seven hundred clients since then which is pretty wild and done studies all around the world and just love it absolutely it now. Your ceo is just flat out wrong when it came to millennials and you had the data to back it up. Did you ever go back to him. And just be like joe burrow. Check us out. you're wrong in also my pants. They're pretty snug. Check them out. I know that was a quiet. But i really do credit him and i if it wasn't such a negative story i would say what company is because it's really big famous company but But no but. I do believe that he something that we saw frequently. Which is the idea that generations older generations. Think of millennials through the lens of their kids or their grandkids and so that that becomes a proxy for the whole generation. And in fact when we wrote the economy book new book. What we found is the same thing was happening again and there was all this misinformation and it just wasn't true and that's why we spent less two years right in the book is because we've got to clear this up because when people have the wrong impression about an entire generation it leads to so many problems for everybody. Everybody loses so no. I never never corrected him on it. But i do give him credit for sparking the idea. I'm glad that you do give them credit for sparking that idea because sometimes fire nation. Is those things you just like you know. I'm not just quite sure about that. Let me look into it. They can really uncover some great opportunities in one thing. That i think is a huge problem in this world in general and especially when you're talking about generations is just regurgitation. You'll hear one person on one talk. Show say one thing. And then you'll regurgitate it. And then somebody else regurgitates regurgitation and like seven layers down. You're like how'd you hear that. They're like oh. I don't really know like somebody just mentioned it and like now you're speaking it like it's the truth and it's just regurgitation of what you know is something that has no data to back it up. So what most people get wrong jason when it comes to generations break that down for us shared. There's a few things that jump out. The first is this belief. Generations are a box or stereotype and that is absolutely not true. We're generational researchers. This is what we do more than sixty five generational studies and what we see is generations are not a box but what they really are powerful clues and as long as we used them as clues and only clues to dry faster connection trust and influence in create all kinds of positive outcomes. We don't wanna put people in boxes. We wanna use this as clues. So we can figure out how to better lead market sell collaborate innovate and so forth. And when you sort of at that level people seem to really embrace it because it just gives them another lens to better connect. So i think the first is people think. Generations are boxes or stereotypes. And they're not in fact. Our clues are driven by math. We look for what's called predictability by scenario so that's the first thing that people i think it wrong. The second is this idea that generations are the same around the world. Now one of the things that we've uncovered repeatedly in our work. We publish all this on our website. Is that generations vary by geography so for example in the us will see differences between urban and rural within the same generation. And that i work a lot outside the us and we'll see differences. Has we travel around the world and that's important because if you're a global company or frankly a global brand fire nation is you want to make sure that you really representing each of the different geographies. And what makes them different now. One cool thing that we've uncovered and we talk a lot about this bunches. Economy is the most consistent generation the world. now that doesn't mean exactly the same but the most similar generation the world is now gen z. Gnc's about twenty three twenty four years old. The oldest and the reason the most similar is because of cheap mobile technology so if you live in different countries around the world you might even get your phone for free as long as you use it for payment. Think about it started using a text. Payer sort of like a mobile credit card in different parts of the world and because we've driven the cost of a mobile down solo basically two zero in many places now. All the sudden young people around the world are having access to entertainment news information dating banking on and on and on and as a result of that. We're seeing a lot more similarities. As i travel all around the world the younger you get but interestingly the older you get even to gen xer baby boomers from a different planet as you travel around the world. So that's something people get wrong. And then the last thing that i think people get wrong. And is they have to deal with a bunch. Is people confuse life. Stage or age with generation. So for example jen's is now twenty four but when we do studies and ask people how do you think the average millennial is they'll say twenty five as if we didn't keep getting older you never talking about millennials for fifteen years. Say there they're now forty. I think that's a board it because you stay in the saying generation but you pass through different life stages and frequently people confuse the two and it's very important to understand the difference because if you're trying to market or employer build a business that targets different groups generations gives you all these clues but we got to distinguish between the generation which travels up right at ages up baby boomers for teenagers versus life. Stage for example high school or college which are still pretty similar ages as they have been for the last four years and so knowing. The difference helps you to understand that. Yes really interesting. How people always confuse age with generations. And how that all goes. I mean you know. I was just talking to a friend the other day literally. He's in his late thirties. I'm in my late thirties. And he's just going off and riffing about jenner. How millennials or just entitled and all this stuff and it looks like you know where millennials. He's like oh no. I'm definitely not a millennial mike. Well we're we're like the oldest millennials millennials. And he's like well. I need to look at that. And so it was funny. He came back. We know there's actually a lot of great things about millennials and he's now like listing off all the good things because he now is identifying himself as a millennial so it's really interesting fire nation and yes. We do get older. That is what happens to all generations and all human beings foreshore. And we're gonna die something. We are back. And as i kind of teased before the break. I wanna get into. How generational work console challenges for fire nation. That's for us entrepreneurs but companies as well. Sure that with us. Sure one of the things. That also is not obvious as i'm venture partner at a venture capital firm and serve on lots of start up boards. It's an extremely passionate about and what we're seeing much of the opportunity being created today has a generational trend or thesis. It's the adoption of new technology new solutions or bringing a different way to look at old problems and when that happens that's where both change and frustration and challenge and frankly companies go out of business but it's also wear new opportunities are created so i'm speaking with entrepreneurs and working with entrepreneurs were trying to look at what are millennials and particularly gen z. Doing right now that you might want to be able to build a business around or leverage as their pine power influence increases so for the first time what we're seeing is technology trends are rippling from the youngest to the oldest and that's a huge shift. It used to be from the oldest more affluent down to the youngest. But now we're seeing younger. People are actually driving tech adoption up to the older but the key as an entrepreneur mississippi that we coach entrepreneurs about is being able to sort of step out of your generation and look at it through the lens of another generation. it's what we call generational contexts. One of the best ways to do that is actually bring members of that generation into the conversation. I can't tell you how many times i'm speaking at places. And they're asking me all these questions about millennials or gen z and. I'm like well. Why don't we invite some of them to the conversation. Let's talk to them. Uh let's actually talk with them. See what they say. Say get and so. I think when you look at bringing generational diversity into the workplace into innovation. You can solve all kinds of interesting challenges. I'll give example right now. What we're seeing is the gen z and even younger millennials. I talk about both of these in this economy book. They want a different on boarding experience. Obviously we're in this time of covert and all these changes but even before that what we saw is that the youngest generation wants to be on once on boarding to be by text message. Which sounds i know a little bit wild but there are companies. Do all of their on boarding through text message so you get semes- before you Short for your first day in alaska you just give you a simple example. This is in the book from coming called on border. When you they'll send a text message and it'll say what's your favorite snack three o'clock when your energy starts to go down. Do you have a favorite sports team are causing all this sort of stuff and the is when you show up for your first day. Or they'll even now senator gift baskets to your house. They'll have all your favorite snacks ready for you on your show up because they already know because you put in your text message or the. Have your favorite sports team. Or they'll find the best place that you wanna go eat or have that food delivered so they're engaging you by text message in a process that generally used to be in person and frankly pretty terrible at most companies. There's another company that worked in with again. This is generational trend. They figured out how to pay all employees fifty percent of their wages every day at no cost. They're called instant and what they did. Is they basically said you get a text message or message on your phone after your shift. And it says hey. Would you like half your money today. Yes or no. If you click s you get your money. Will all the sudden now you have. An entire generation is growing so fast that thinks they should always be able to get half their paycheck. Every day will imagine how that changes so many other things and all the sudden other generations. What do they say well. This text messaging on boarding thing is pretty cool. You mean i can get paid every day. That's pretty awesome. I think i want that. To and all the sudden the generational trends creates huge businesses. And those are the types of things were seeing you know so much. Innovation is driven by other generations. This is the key they don't even think it's new or different when we interview them. They think you've always been able to do on boarding by text message because they never got on onboard before there was text messaging or if they've only worked at a place that gave them the ability to get paid every day. That's how they think everybody gets paid. And you know older generations. So i work with the frequently. Get defensive and they're like you know. The young generations are trying to change everything. And i'm like no. They're not this is just all they've ever known they don't know any differently. Change to them is actually doing what you're proposing and it's not about one being right or wrong. It's going we can. We can leverage us. We can adopt this and all the sudden on boardings better retention is higher engagement is higher in these types of things and you see it on the marketing side for those fire nation members who are really growing their businesses and they're more than sales marketing. Same exact deal and the idea is just recognizing this you're creating so much opportunity. We see this particularly with social media. We see this with podcast such as yours that this is a great way to engage younger generations who then index for talking about these things and driving awareness in referrals and excitement fire nation. So many things to take away here. One of my favorite things jayson broke down was specifically tech trends are rippling from the youngest. To the oldest. Like think about that shift. Think about that change. How the ripples actually going from the youngest to the oldest now which is a complete flip from how it used to be back in the day and one thing. I wanna really dial in on just because i'm personally curious and i think fire nation is to is this the up and coming generation now. Let's talk about generation z. Like who is generation z. And what do we need to know about them. Yeah absolutely so gen z. The key thing is that they're already twenty three or twenty four years old. So that's a good starting point and what we uncovered in our research and we publish. This is economy. Book is at gen. Z is the key thing we got all these research firms around the world to change their birth years. Gen z does not remember nine eleven and that is a huge deal because it's the biggest event for the millennial generation we call generation defining moment. But jesse doesn't remember it at all. They learned about it in school or heard about it from a parent or they watched the video on youtube. But it's not something they experienced and they're now twenty three twenty four years old so a huge event of the generation before they don't remember in fact they're they're covid nineteen is essentially their defining moment. This pandemic is the generation defining moment that they're gonna take with them and we talk about this a lot. So one thing is they. Don't remember kievan of a previous generation and the other is there. Cuban is happening right now. But what i think you're entrepreneurs will find super interesting is that we've been doing this. Study for the last five years called state of gen z and. It's our big study released every year. And what we've uncovered and we've seen it for five years in a row now is gen. Z is more practical or frugal with their money than previous generations. And this is shocking and when we dig into it what we find out is that gen z came of age around the great recession. And what do i mean by that. Their speakers are experts. Like you talked about earlier. This regurgitation people running around saying oh gen z struggled during the great recession in the workforce they were twelve and were not working right but instead what they did is. They saw their parents struggle. They heard their parents struggle. They know people lost their houses. They saw millennials drowning in student loan. Debt having back home a mom and dad and you put all that together and what you see is. They're very conservative or practical with their money. As a result they're driving double digit growth at stores. They like couponing they wanna know. They got a good deal. They want things to be a bargain. They want them to last a long time really have utility and what we see. The example. i'd like to give is a gen zero sixteen years old. We'll have a birthday party. They'll get fifty dollars. They're all excited it away. And then they'll go to their mom or their dad and say hey. Can i have fifty dollars. Wanna go buy something. Mom or dad will say but you just got fifty dollars. And they'll say oh. No that's my money your money. It's overseeing that so if you're trying to market to them you've got to understand their practicality with money we also see the gen z when we do values based research. What we find is for the last four years Their top concern was climate change. Or would they would call climate crisis in their own words. And so that's been the top that they've been looking for brand alignment and for entrepreneurs to get behind and so forth however in the last six months we are new study. Social justice has leapfrog. Climate changes their top issue. And it's significantly more now so all the sudden as you see the generation respond to events around them. You can sort of see how they're shaped so if you wanna make sure in line with their values you gotta know what their values are going. Even deeper on the employment side is people look to hire them. Gen z no is looking for stability. This one's this one's tougher for entrepreneurs. So i want to explain it. They're looking for stability in an employer. What do i mean by that. Gen z saw these layoffs. I heard the layoff. Seen millennials struggle and as a result they're looking for an employer that they view as stable. So it's interesting because they tend to automatically defined stability by being a big company. So they'll say. I want to work for a big company will say why and they well because they're stable and the truth is you and i both know that. Just because you're big company does not at all mean that you're stable and just because you're a small business doesn't mean that you're not stable so it's important that you message to them. We also found in our research is gen. Z is very much interested in benefits which is shocking given their age in fact two years ago. Twelve percent of gen z was already saving for retirement. Wow and yeah. That's crazy right and many of them already have an emergency savings account. These are eighteen year olds. That are taking up their phones showing us emergency savings accounts and it. Just it's such a different generation. I think the key here. Mrs so important for all the marketers who are listening our nation is at gen. Z is not millennials. Two point oh they are not millennials. Just more extreme. That's total bunk. People say that it is not true. Jesse is a completely different generation raised by different set of parents who has come of age only knowing social media it has always existed for them. That's why they trusted so much at the same time. They're more diverse than any previous generation. Different set of values different purchasing pathways. And now the key is they over index on influence because of how they use digital media and already twenty four years old fastest growing generation in the workforce today on a percentage basis. And they're gonna be the most important consumers to get right over the next ten to fifteen years. One thing that i assume and please correct me if i'm wrong. Because it's just an assumption but generation x. And millennials like this is like. I'm speaking of my generation's here that i cut kind of overlap. Both pretty closely. It's we came to like being seventeen eighteen years old and it came to money in debt. Just kind of close our eyes and kind of believed the rhetoric of. Hey you just have to go to college and it's going to be expensive and you're going to get college dad and that's okay and you're just going to be a paid off at some point in the future and now like millennials and gen xers just hammered with this dead. They can't payoff ten twenty even sometimes thirty years later because it was just brutal with the mountains of debt that people kind of blindly get into it. Seems from what you're saying. Generations not gonna kind of take that same approach in just blindly. Sign away their lives to this debt of secondary education in colleges and universities in the such. Is that true. Wow that is such an insightful. I mean you you are super pro do so yes. That is actually true What's interesting is when we studied student. Loan debt with millennials in particular. That's what we call an economic anchor. So what it's causing. It's actually causing millennials. Now this is wild to delay marriage kids and buying a home because of student loan debt and that has massive ramifications on all parts of the economy to everything from financial services whether or not. You're buying life insurance. You know the the homebuilding recovery like on and on we could keep going to income households. There's just there's so many things that are impact even ultimately the ability to take care of your parents later on so what we saw. Was that large student loans at delayed major life commitments which we which is what's happened as a result And by the way gen z will tell you they're not sure that if spending a whole bunch of money and college actually pays off his it remains to be seen right now for millennials. We were told. I'm a millennial. We were told getting the best college at an. Just get debt. And will all be worth it and then for a lot of it wasn't on the flipside. Gen z in our new. Study in this in this economy book because it's important to understand how thing about education gen z is trying to graduate from college with as little as possible ice which is super cold. They're also saying that they're looking. They're very interested in the employability of their career. So so if they go and they pursue a certain path. Am i going to be able to get a job in that path. Now by the way kobe. Nineteen has been a massive massive. You know challenge for that because there are people that were three or four years into college university you know. Maybe they're going to study retail merchandising. Well aren't hiring never hired for that role again or they studied. You know oil and gas and those aren't hiring whatever it is so all the sudden people who already had you know pretty heavy commitment are now realizing that that path isn't there for them but we are single. Gen z particularly during this experience. Right now is they're saying. Hey i want to make sure. I'm getting value for my education and raven seeing well if it's going to be online only i'd rather go to a community college or state school or somewhere else. Get some credits. And then i'll figure out. If i want to go back into the future maybe take a year off and then come back and so forth so there definitely much more conservative with debt when it comes to college university and by the way the other people who are more conservative are their parents boomers had to cosign on all those millennial loans just. That's my mom about it right. And that as a result for many millennials it was tough for them to pay it off on the flipside. Gen-x is going well. I don't know if it's worth it gen x. Gen z kids. You will not end up. Like those millennials so the that's also being weighed into the conversation now is college university worth it and then you add the layer of kobe. Nineteen is it worth it if it's nontraditional experience and you know i don't know the answer to that but it is something we're observing and now this is where it gets really interesting. So the oldest members of gen z. Those that are about eighteen to twenty four. They're bearing the brunt of this. Pandemic what i mean by that is in our latest study. That group was most likely more than any other generation to lose their job. Have a decrease in pay or have a shift in responsibilities meaning. They had to assume a job that they didn't sign up for where it gets interesting though is younger so my daughter is nine years old. Her name is russia Sushi is in fourth grade right now. She heard this is in the book in third grade. Her last end of the year project. Which i didn't know anything about Was she went and built a presentation. She built all and google sides. She built it all in spanish. She had animation. She presented it. She recorded it and then she uploaded to classroom and she thought that was completely normal. She's nine and then of course. You saw one of my powerpoint slides. He's not very good. So i say that because the younger members of gen z. This is the real twist here. They might end up turning this pandemic into a positive. Because they're going to learn a whole different way to learn to collaborate they're going to get the benefit of the older part of the generation struggling. So they can learn from them. All of this stuff largely will be resolved in terms. Of least what normal looks like in the future and so they're gonna get the benefit of all of that the closer you are to those transition years of eighteen to twenty four the worse is but the further away the more benefit could end up being you so it's pretty interesting that within the same generation you can have two very different experiences and by the way this is what happened. To millennials millennials like me who crashed into the great recession and then the millennials who came afterwards who benefited from a very robust economy. So even within the same generation you can see pretty significant differences. I mean fire nation. I really hope you're enjoying this contest. Much as i am. Because i'm seeing the application to the real world and that's so important because we're entrepreneurs in the real world. We own businesses and companies in the real world in this stuff makes a massive impact so jason of everything that you shared today. What's the one key takeaway that you really wanna make. Sure fire nation gets from all of this awesome stuff above generational impact and the generational studies. That you've done and then share how we can even learn more about it through you and any call to action. You might have for fire. Nation is time to share. Yeah absolutely so the number. One thing that i would share. You know as an entrepreneur myself now for twenty four years is i would do. It's called a generational snapshot and what that means is you create essentially a pie chart representing the different generations. Either of your customers or of your employees or team members or ideally of both. Because what you'll often find is that there's more generations and you suspect it and it will help you to shape your messaging your leadership in your marketing to better fit them and going a bit further if you don't see enough of the next generation coming in particular on the customer side that's definitely a yellow flag that you need to pay attention and make sure that your dappling for the next generation because they will be the ones that drive growth. So that's the best easiest how to that will cost you zero dollars that a promise will make you money. Which are the type of things i'm all about. "Here's a nice little funds that too about the nfc east right now. So it's basically a four way tie. Every team has three wins. The eagles have that one tiger as the bengals. Yup that put them half peterson. We laughed at him. Put that actually could design the division. He's a genius for doing that. Got it right The the los angeles rams are four. No against the nfc east los angeles rams have more wins against that division than any team in that division has against the other twenty eight teams in the nfl. I love it. I love it. So it's it's three six one and then three three and seven three seven three and seven. Yeah so thanksgiving day. What we'll leave winner of that game is in first place sole possession of the nfc. I'm genuinely excited for the. Nfc has been joel year. We've all had our fun but now that you get in the middle or late november all four teams able to possibly win vision that's awesome. It's awesome like that's actually a very fun concept to have. I ran the numbers inside my own brain. It's not looking good. It's more than fifty percent that the winter the nfc east is going to be six and ten who say it's not looking good for the washington new. They have a tough schedule. Everybody does if you look at every team's schedule from this. Guess because they're all bad. Yeah all bad so everything that they plays better than them which tough unless they're playing each other and they beat each other up because of the beast but every team basically has to play. I think two games against nfc west teams play three games against nfc west teams. This is classic that it's it's actually kind of breaking for the cowboys. A little bit because the cowboys play the washington for that might decide it. Football team can beat the cowboys. Then i think they have the inside track. Yeah the winner of that game is going to have the inside track. But the fact that they get They they play out the ravens should be tough but at the bengals without joe burrow than they have the niners in the eagles at home Do the washington football team having to play at steelers at niners verse. Seahawks that's gauntlet. It's tough going to be a tough. But they beat the dallas cowboys on thanksgiving. I think when you take into account that the football team has the best point differential in the division which is huge. Because i think that's like the sixth tie-break you have to say that it favors the football team and if the football team wins the nfc east. You can't change the name because then you have to play into the month of january and that there was the whole marketing schedule and they have to be the football team for another season. That
