"Like, no. Yeah, that's for that freaks me out, but yeah. No, thank you. Yeah, nice teeth and good forms. Oliver used to use to have a Coke nail, didn't you? Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's true. That's in now. Big ass pinky Coke nail. Really long. Kyle long. Comedic really long. Comedically. I can't even do Coke. I can pick up an entire kilo on the nail. Just a big trough. It was a party coattail 'cause you can have like 6 people in the trough. Right. It's like those ski shots where you tilt the whole thing. The whole three foot line of Coke and I've got everyone in a truck. Let me be totally clear that was Oliver talking. If you listen to this podcast. Yeah, but before we go, I will state for the record. I have never even touched cocaine in my life, never even come close to it. It's never been a thing. Oh my God. You're the living shit. And I never will. On that note and on the note one other note, thank you for saying parrot on the broadcast. I did it. That's right. So Josh is watching, I don't even know if you're watching at the time, but we got on a group chat during the game. And I said something like Josh, you actually watching this and Oliver said, if you are Joe will say parrot for you. Yeah. How did you work that in? I wasn't watching. I said, I said, well, John, I'm going to pair it with I said earlier. So it was brilliant. It was brilliant. It was an amazing moment for me. I just, yeah, it was unreal. It's good to see you out of your shackles at Disneyland. It seemed like you texted three straight days from Disneyland. And we had visitors. We had people visiting, so we were people and we go to Disneyland all the frigging time anyway, so. This is like, this is like graceland or graceland. He said Disneyland. I did. Well, I'm really tired. It's been a long three days. Those are the people. Those are the people with the season pass. Yeah, yeah. Disneyland. Season passers are the ones who are allowed to say Disneyland. Hey honey, let's go to Disneyland. What do you want to do? Time for another trip to Disneyland. Doesn't it look just like Russian? Want to go to Disneyland? I

"Yeah, you were like, I don't know what to do for Michael for our anniversary and this and then somehow it came organically came up like let's I was talking about Oliver's cameo. That's cameo. We were like, let's see if Joe will record a little personal message. Michael, and he did, and he did it in the it was like so good. It was so good. Josh had clip it in here or whatever it's called. Oh yeah, like a clip of that. That's true. I'll send it to you, Josh. And you could clip a little bit of it in here because it was honestly obviously Joe doesn't know my sister's husband. But he sent the sweetest, most like, genuinely kind, happy anniversary video, and he talked a lot about his hair about hair. Well, hey there, Michael. This is Joe buck.

"This place is just so fun. The ballpark so loud, as it wasn't Houston, both home crowds made it's so easy on me. To do the games because they just carried the noise. And I was thinking, you know, if this game goes well, I can walk back to my hotel room. And I can get in my bed. And I can open up my iPad and I can watch the last episode of season two of Yellowstone. That was what was going through. And I'm like, oh, wait. Two and two. That's fouled off. So he's not always in the game. It's true. That's true. That is as honest as I can be. And I was never out of it, but I was like, I really hope I feel good about myself at the end of this game so that I can go back and then I had a funny moment and then I'll let you talk on our podcast. I'm good. You know, as we've talked many times, the home crowd that the partisan fans always think you're against a billion times to talk about. But I'm packing my stuff up, stadium's empty after game 5 Atlanta lost 9 to 5, I think. And so the stadium started to thin out. Now in Atlanta, you have to walk the booth. You have to walk body to body to get to the elevator to get out of there with fans. I've been it's packed to get big because we're up in the main concourse. And it's a little unnerving. Because it wouldn't take much to start something. And I'm walking with smoltz who is one of the greatest braves of all time. Yeah. And, you know, all of a sudden, it starts going through the crowd that there's John smoltz and I'm thinking, oh man, I wear a hat so I can get out of there and kind of put my head down and zip through the crowd and get out of there. And it started to you could hear the ripple of John smalls. It's John small's chance, John small. And finally, it's like small to sports, small tea, time my hair turned my face. And then all of a sudden, you know, fuck you, Joe buck.

"And Josh is feeling a little bit under the weather this week, so we're gonna do a rewatch, but we want him to rest up and get better. So instead of just putting out an old episode, we're gonna do a rewatch with my sister, Jenna. Jenna, say hi. Hi. Have you ever done a podcast before? Not once. Okay, well, you're doing good. You're talking into the microphone. It's a good start. I'm just following you. Okay. And just a note to you. This video won't all be online. We'll just put social clips. A note to me. I know to you. So I can feel free to say whatever. We can feel free to look however. For sure. So I'll just say we can cut things too. So you can feel free to say whatever as well. Cool. So do you want to say anything about yourself? Tell them anything about yourself? You don't have to. My name's Jenna, and I, from the southwest, or live in the southwest, and I'm a therapist, mental health therapist. Which I thought would be a very pertinent person to have on a show called daddy issues. And Jenna, you've met Joe. I have. She might go. She came with me to LA. I think for our longtime listeners, you've heard Joe talk about he came and met me and Josh and my sister at a bar. And on the episode, if you've heard it, he said, when I walked in and you guys all went in for a hug, I held my breath. Because there was heightened COVID times then. Did he get COVID? He did not, not from that trip, at least not from us. So that's a good thing. I feel terrible to give Joe buck COVID. Okay, so Jenna's hurt, you've heard the show before. I have. Yeah. You've probably never heard this one. This is this episode is called blue jeans and a trip to Disneyland. But not Disneyland, Disneyland with like an LY. And I haven't listened to this one in a long time, so I think I remember how we got to this name, but I'm not sure. So we're gonna find out while we rewatch and listen. Okay, so let's just start the episode. And Josh, here's another note for our listeners real quick. Josh already has told me that this is not ideal recording audio recording situation because we're playing a video on YouTube and we're in the same room and we each have a recorder. Let's just jump right in. Play the episode.

"First of all, you and all of our are so sometimes mean to each other. It makes me sad, honestly, because do you think he gets a little bit sensitive when you say stuff like that? Because you're always talking about how he's never on time. Maybe it's just a problem that he has. Do I worry that he gets upset about it? No. Does he get upset about it, possibly? I know. Yeah. Oh, Margot said, no, only when we say things about his appearance. Does he get a little sensitive? Like his crow's feet and his whatever. And yet nobody is more of a shellman on Instagram than my friend Oliver Rutledge Hudson. His crow's feet will why doesn't he just get Botox? Oh, he just got like a laser laser thing where he put numbing gel on his face for a day and then they went in and chiseled the dead skin and cracks out of his face. But yeah, that's the only thing that he really gets upset about. And Kate will give him trouble about it. But I mean, he's a ruggedly fine looking handsome man. I'm objectively attractive person. Yeah. He's like, I feel like he would appeal to any age. He's just like a good-looking person. Speaking of Botox and all that, I saw Top Gun for the second time last night. And do you think that months prior to shooting Tom Cruise puts a shit ton of Botox in his face so that it dissolves kind of halfway right up until right before he starts to shoot. Like I always wonder that with guys. Well, here, that's an interesting question. And I have an answer to that. I'm never going to talk shit on Tom Cruise because I love Tom Cruise. I love Tom Cruise. I mean, he's got the whole side to his life that everybody's willing to overlook now with the Scientology stuff, which is fine. But when John ham was on the set, shooting that movie, I was doing the World Series and they were watching some of the World Series while they were shooting. And ham mentioned to TC as John calls him. That he and I are friends. And Tom Cruise is like, no way. My God, I love Joe buck. He's so great at what he does and blah blah blah. So Tom Cruise's gold with me.

"I haven't watched current stuff in a while with that, so I don't know. The one I don't have is Paramount plus and then I wanted to watch the real world reunion and of course that's the one I don't have. Agreed, they have they've been airing like the real world rule challenges, right? Right. Which I would definitely those are on TV, I think. I thought that they were on Paramount plus. Maybe. Because I would watch them if they were used to love those shows. But now that they're on Paramount plus and there's a lot of good stuff on Paramount plus, it seems like, but it's just them one will end. Then you have that HBO and showtime and Hulu and ESPN+ and Netflix and peacock. I mean, it's just, you know, Apple TV. It's endless. And it's only gonna get worse. And it seems like 5 bucks a month or 7 bucks a month. At the end of it, you're talking over a $100 a month for all these optimum. Can we get worse? Yeah. Only get worse. Running a second on a negative. Yeah, that's all. All right. Enjoy the weekend. That's the positive. Enjoy championships. Last big weekend of football. That's right, enjoy it. All right, we'll see you next week. See you later. Take it easy. "Rams and he had the niners and packers stunner. So we have to get into all that. He is Joe buck Joe. How are you? Jimmy, I'm good and you. I'm well, I'm well. It was a great weekend, so hard not to be hard not to be good right now if you're a football fan. That was a fun two days. And for me, personally, not that you're asking, but doing that game Saturday and I get home and then spending Sunday with my wife and my two sons and watching those two games was a blast. So it's kind of fun doing when you have the Sunday game and the Saturday games happen usually you're still cramming and getting ready and doing stuff for your game. But in this case, when it's reversed, you can just kind of relax and watch the games and enjoy it, which, man, you don't have to be a football fan to love what happened this last weekend. Right. And major, you know, I mean, CBS got 42 million for bill's chiefs. You guys got for your game. 37 million, which on a Saturday night is really huge because Saturday is usually a rough night for television ratings. Yeah, and when they're starting to compare it to Olympic broadcast from the 90s, you know that there are a lot of people watching. So the interest is never been more I don't think intense. I don't think the job has ever been more intense and, you know, I've got one more game and then I can turn my brain off. What do you mean by the job has never been more intense? I just think when you do a game for however many millions of people in today's world with social media, you realize that if you step outside of the midline and you and I have talked about it before, but if you step outside the midline or you make a mistake I mean, mistakes happen. It's live TV, but when it does, it's like, oh my God, I called, you know, Travis, Kelsey, Jason, Kelsey, and now I'm the idiot that I'm gonna get stuff hurled at me in the town square. And when you do a game like that, well let me rephrase. You should never do a game like that. You should just let it hang out and just go, but it's becoming harder and harder to do that. Yeah. Well, and now this is different than a Sunday at four 25 only in that it's a stand-alone game so everyone's watching so the critiques are going to be way more. Yeah, legitimately everything that comes out of your mouth. Somebody can say, you're the stupidest person ever because, you know, yeah, it looks like it's first and ten, but, you know, it's really, you just can't get into all that. And so what I tell young people getting involved in broadcasting, which is turn off your social media, find two or three people that you know have your best interest at heart and can be real critics and.

"Imagine being whatever happens with aaron and being seventy years old and thinking back on my first two kids and being like oh my god like i don't know them i never have. I have no idea who the fuck they are. I knew him as twelve and thirteen twelve year. Old kids and frozen tie so gnarly. I know that everyone not everyone. A lot of people have had. You know abandonment issues or parents who have left and he sort of just talk about it and you go through therapy but when you really sort of dig in to what that must feel like not for you sort of the victim so to speak but for you know the the other on the other side of it. That's gotta be so difficult you know especially if you have remorse and if you are reflective and few if you are sort of not towards the end but like you said on the on the second nine and you're going through every piece of your of your world and thinking man i missed out. I i have two children in. I don't know the fuck they are and they're forty-five-year-old forty five years old. That's so weird. I mean imagine not knowing that earlier. Trudy i mean imagine me not knowing wilder or rio this is was so fucking crazy so credit and i just can't imagine and i know we've had people that we've talked to on this podcast. Listen that have had abandonment issues and have dealt with this and i just can't imagine being a parent and being like yeah whatever and just skipping out and not regretting that every minute of every day to the point where you would be probably driven back in there to go all right. Let's make this work or gays not gonna work between mom and dad but dammit i'm going to be a part of this kid's life and i'm gonna do everything i can to make sure that this kid knows that i love him or her and it's funny because as you get older or i only speak for myself as i get older and i've been through all my shit with my dad and personally dealing with whatever it was you know the roles have reverse. We've we've talked about this before. But i feel like the older one now. The more mature one the one who has to take the initiative and make sure that when he is on his death bed that he has no regrets. If he doesn't have the capacity to do it emotionally. And i do. I feel like it's my job to almost reach out to him and give him what he can't take himself because he just doesn't have the tools you know. So if i can give that to him before he dies and he's allowed to sort of move on to whatever. The next chapter is without guilt. Then i think that's my job to do that. You know what i mean. I don't know if it's your job not job very big of you in that just speaks to where you are in life. You've got a great wife. You've got great kids. You're grounded person. You somehow found your way through your childhood and the craziness that as a saint louis in and as a midwesterner i see the la life wondering how in the world you ended up the kind of person that you are. And i think it speaks to. Your mom gets mixed occurred in your sister and everybody that you have around you that you lean on to become the man that you've become a now you're in a position where you can reach out an olive branch to your dad and it's completely flipped and you have the upper hand on that now because it's almost like what what can he say. What can he do you. Go back and go. Hey you know about these past thirty years. Sorry about that. I mean what do you say nothing to say. No and your dad yourself so understand it now more than everybody or anyone you understand it. That's what i tried to get across in my book which my half brothers and sisters didn't really get what i was saying was there were a couple snarky things i put in there but now as a man who's gone through divorce and who has seen what it does to kids. I understand why when i came into the world in nineteen sixty nine a houseful of six children and a wife and ex wife. They didn't like me. And because i represented to them the end of their your nuclear family and that's just human nature so and now. I understand that better than ever because i've gone that down that path of trying to make sure. Everything's okay with natalie. And judy before i try to make sure i'm okay myself and now blending natalie intrude michelle now blending natalie trudy with michelle blake and wyatt making sure they know that they've not lost one ounce of their standing with me and they're as important now as they were when they were to that that's been my life goal non calling field of dreams game. It's it's i want to make sure the people that i love know how much i love them. That's that's the main thing. Yeah yes all the matters and you've done good. It was rocky at the in the beginning. But you know things smoothed out more than out you know. Yes and i have letters that have written to them letters. They've written to me stuff that i don't keep a lotta that stuff but that and i had a whole wall of things that my girls wrote to me over the years that was in my old room that will go up in some part of this new house of father's day cards and just these different just because notes that they would write me a pomp up before an all star game when my voice was wrecked than any ami. That's sitting behind me or any whatever were they actual written letters. Yes it's it's funny. They were right in that sweet spot of still writing letters. I mean i don't think passed a father's day card when they're twelve and thirteen and under that i will get anything. Handwritten just because of the world that we live in today it's gonna be rotc f. l. And every every correspondent gatt from your kids are going to have those little sure. It's like hello f. Hell she my god dad. Where were you had such foam. Oh that i was not there when you were in ab which. What is on your shirt. I can't for the life of me. I can't tell if that share. Oh no okay. It looks like it looks like a skinny human. Now look at says bacon and it's like a stone piece of bacon bacon. Oh my god. Did you buy that for yourself by that for you. I got it for myself. See look at it now. Right now gives you back as your back there. It looked like skinny. Person holding a microphone does sunny and share show. No it's it's a. It's a strip of bacon smoking. A big dooby. How i feel so much better and i'm really glad i brought this up. The heavy eyes bloodshot eyes bacon man. Aspen colorado says underneath is black..

"Found anybody on the found anybody on the set that you think you can be friends with. I don't know anyone yet. I mean. I did table dover zoom which is weird but i think i will and honestly dude. I'm going to be going back and forth so much. you know. i mean any chance i get. I'm going to be home in l. A. with the kids and and it's an hour and a half flight. Should i come down to albuquerque and just keep company come to the set. I mean it's a fox show. I could get a pass. That's true all. I hope is that you get into playoffs of football. Nfl player you get to promote the show. I really hope that the cleaning lady is evidence. Called the cleaning lady you know. I don't know how they decide. Who you guys promote. Like if they pick a show or how it works but god damn i hoped that charlie collier and say i'll promote all of your shows all of them. Yeah the mass singer. Twelve all of them which i have to like i. It's an either. Or because i have to do it. But i'm gonna say if you don't slide a my way for oliver show the cleaning lady. I'm not. I'm just gonna mail in the other stuff. I know it will come so full. Circle will come. So it's so crazy i know. Where are you right now. Are you in saint louis. And how's the move going. It's good you're going right behind my big head. I love it. Are you done done moving. Yeah i mean we're done. We're not done trying to find where everything is kind of the house. But we're we need to put stuff on the walls kinda that's where we are but yeah we're we're pretty much done in. The house isn't finished yet. So it's a little frustrating. We don't have drapes in our bedroom which you don't care because you might pass out and sleep. Well i mike my room. So so sorry to interrupt. But i'd never. I never slept with anything over my eyes or anything. Because i'm like why aaron has a whole sleeping system we've talked about it before it's just fucking crazy but she takes this black sort of like tank tops and puts it over. Her is in the morning. And i just tried it. One time in cape cod. And i was like this is a game changer is i can finally sleep. Once the light comes in. I know it's it's not rocket science. But i just never never did anything like it. You know. I think. I was born with abnormally thin eyelids. It's the only part of me. That's thin other than my hair. And i if if anybody like if a door opens and a little lake comes in and like so. If i don't sleep with this mask over my eyes and i use earplugs to. Wow yeah but but i still hear through the earplugs. So i do the earplugs just for some hope that unless the house is on fire or the kids are completely losing their shit. I can kind of get on interrupted sleep..

Maybe one day getting into canton and Joe buck is now a part of the hall of fame. You gotta be careful. It's everybody's out to correct you. We had some twitter clips over the weekend. Having some fun with joe it was a great little clip about how his mom taught in the game of football using beer cans. And i just said you know he's inducted alongside his dad and the guys twitter handle i think even said something about hall of fame checker facts or you know the canton guy. Whatever he's he's done doctored. He's a roselle award winner. He's known as dr. Mike five okay. He's somewhere in that hall of everybody knows he's not a damn player. How does how does that sound when you hear that i. It sounds incorrect. I don't know if it's true or not. I'm getting an award from the hall of fame. I guess that means. I'm i'm part of the festivities here in canton either way To get the chance to share this with my dad who got this back in nineteen ninety-six And to join him with this. Pete rozelle award and you look at the list of people that have wanted and it includes my boss. The man that hired me david hill. Who got it in two thousand seventeen so it's very special. I'm trying not to not to downplay it But when you get taxed from actual hall of famers like hey welcome to the hall. And my i don't know about that but It's it's really cool especially in that fox group because howie terry now. Jim like troy. I mean every turn these guys and that was the old campaign about the rings. Joe doesn't ring right. at least you got this. Yeah no i. It's it's really cool. And i think sharing it with troy and seeing his actual reaction when we found out that night in cleveland i guess it was And david baker came on and said that i would be getting the pete rozelle award and just to see the tears in in is and know how special it was that moment for him and we've continued to talk about it you know. We're we're launching into our twentieth season together. Which is mind blowing and I i really share this with him because without him. You know who knows how this whole thing unfolds. but we've been good friends and good partners. All the way. I think media folks. No football folks may know but saint louis knows but the world may not know and i'm leading up to an actual question. Your dad was really good at football. And i think the world thinks oh baseball jackpot baseball but hell no i i swear to you. He was the best thing he did with a microphone in front of his face other than after dinner speaking was radio football and it is not easy to do and making the listener visualize where the ball is where the teams are on the field and and kind of putting that together you know and then he and hang straem and their longtime relationship on monday night football doing that on radio but he did tv football to cbs. So i think you know when you talk about the profession and the actual play by play calling. I think he was best to calling football compared to other people that try to call football but mom sent the tape. The reason you go to fox is mom. Yes that is getting some pump these days. She is and rightly. So i just remember. I was in the camel. Exports office and i was doing open line When the announcement came down in one thousand nine hundred ninety four or the end of ninety three that fox was in. And cbs was out. And i was livid. I went in there and i read it and i was like. Are you kidding me. This simpson and joan rivers are gonna do the football and little. Did i know that they were going to hire madden summerall Millan in stockton. And then after that they were going to give a shot to a lot of new people on the block so to speak. And i was one of those people and the reason i got a chance to audition was my mom gave my baseball play by play videotape to our new bosses wife and she made her husband listened to it. That's what got me the audition and then the addition went really well and i walked out of that room and they told me i had a job so it was. It was really cool so your first. Football game wasn't at indiana on college radio. Or am i cd as high school. It was nfl foot. It was the first football game you ever called. I feel like that names kind of been taken and it just leads into a very easy promotional nights. I'm going to say that doesn't get it. Well i mean. I can't believe they're considering it. I mean i understand spiders. That was an actual baseball team. In cleveland in the but a did they even say like why avenge what's what the avengers thing. Is there any rationale well. So the first avengers movie was partially filmed in cleveland. Which might belie- but that was the movie that took place in new york like the movie was set in quote unquote new york so they filmed cleveland as though it was new york. I so wait a minute. What i'm gathering before you're telling me. Is that cleveland loss to commemorate a movie. That was embarrassed to be in cleveland correct. Yes she's christ. How about the wild things. I mean that was shot in. Cleveland is about the cleveland baseball team fifty million times better. Okay there's my answer. But i like the spiders. I do too but the concept of naming your baseball team after a movie because part of the movie was shot in the city is ridiculous. I call on the giants the san francisco mrs doubtfire actually bad i'd i'd i would enjoy that logo pretty good. Yeah yeah i like that. What do you think they should be. They have eight legs. They go all over the place. They seem to be tough to capture and dispose of. I'm going spider much like cleveland. You kind of forget spiders are there. And then you're startled by their very existence. it's just a natural for them. think the logo would look cooling. The hats would cool the commercials right themselves. Cleveland spiders yield. Theoretically doing a quiz show like that. But i don't know. I don't know how i did. I think it went well. But we'll see i mean let's let the twitter verse be the judge of that. I'm sure they'll be kind and measured about it. Yeah i'm sure it'll be very well. Thought out okay so step one was hosting jeopardy so check that box. "Joe buck slowly. We're just gonna move on topics here now. I wouldn't i. i would have loved that in high school. Buck slowly was lonely kid there you could use that. I could get a prom date now. This may surprise you. Joe but i actually i really hate all the joe buck vitriol. That happens online Because i don't think many of these people actually even hate you. I just think they know it's cool to hate you. And they're just jumping on the bandwagon to get likes and re tweets would've ella get which pisses me off. Because i have legitimately hated you for years upon years right. Yeah it's not fair it's not. I'm doing a grass root since the mid nineties since back before twitter i had to go door to door handing out flyers that just had your face with a red line slash through it. Now these posers come in and say they hate you. Just because his trendy. It's disrespectful to me. Joe the hatred of you and all the hard work i put in over the. I can't say i disagree. I got one of those flyers back in the mid nineties. That must have been a mistake. How'd you get one but a hand you one once. It was blowing around at a kids park in saint louis and It just blew in my direction. I picked it up. I knew it was you. That's that's when. I stopped giving my dad. Your cassettes. yeah and handed me by the way they even have a track back then it was. I think it was a six track for your dad. You're not no. I know you've gone to great lengths. You've been at this a long time. I've tried to help you and help your career any chance i can get. Which is what is kind of my frustration and all this and maybe that's that's where we miss as great friends and why i'm on your speed. Dial and why you're not even in my phone. Is i feel like it's been really personal for a really long time and therefore you know i too much too much. Water has gone to the bridge to not wanna drown you in it. Okay understand joe. I get it. I mean From your point of view no good deed has gone unpunished. And you have tried to help me out. Which seemingly has only made me more and more resentful over the years and i guess it has because no matter what it just gets worse for me you know like i shit my pants and wendy's and you get another job but i think the tank for you will turn at some point do maybe this is the council. Move me. throw you this friendly bone okay. I can sensitive. The people are starting to push back against the narrative that you suck you know. It's like crocs. Remember those the shoe crocs those absolutely yes. People feel made fun of those for a long time. Act like they were tacky and then at some point in the last year people realize a armegeddon requires countable footwear and now crocs are hot that's what's going to happen to you joe. You're the human equivalent of crocs. Pretty soon you're going to be a universally beloved figure and when that happens. I think that's the final sign. That's when the beasts while razaleigh ocean and the book of revelation will be fulfilled when people can tolerate you. Oh well i mean. I can only hope that that that that does come to pass. Although i don't know that an armageddon with fire and brimstone and chit fallen everywhere. The Latest: Kershaw, Dodgers take Game 1 over Rays

"Vast fox sports radio networking glad you have chosen to spend A couple minutes with us and there is no debate. There is no debate where we begin this night, a radio the fall classic surfing the Blue Wave Cowabunga Dod's the Fall Classic, starting in a neutral site. Kind of on Tuesday night with Joe Buck every night, you get ajob of game and John Smalls calling the game on Fox. Did you watch? Maybe not will see that I don't imagine the ratings will be very good for this Thegame was lopsided in there's one team that has a fan base and another one that doesn't a national fan base for the Dodgers. Put on a pyrotechnics show. It was like the Fourth of July. Boom Bang Bam! The Dodger offense When Cody Bellenger Mookie Betts hit homeruns Clayton Kershaw mowing down Tampa haters like it was an April started Dodger Stadium on by the time The damage he'd done. Ella ended up spit roasting the raise 8 to 3 and Game one of the 2020 World Series for the Dodgers Get a leg up on the best of seven series now three wings away. From their first championship as a franchise since 1988 When Ronald Reagan was the president, Tommy Lasorda was waddling in the dugout and Kurt Gibson got wanted bat and hit a home run and is at all time legend because of that, as a Dodger, So let us discuss the question. What are your big takeaways? From Game one of the World Series, a domination situation for the Dodgers. So I've got the white whale hand grenades and Smurfs and we will tie all these things together. Now we talk about the World Series. Game one. You start with us. Accounts on Lee is just one game. It doesn't matter that much in the big picture. It's only one game. However. I'm going to disagree with that statement because the feeling that one gets watching Game one of the World Series from the Dodgers side of things. It's like hitting a two team parlay. It doesn't seem like a one win situation. Night, so don't undersell the importance of a game one win for Los Angeles and I'll tell you why. Because the Dodgers winning a Clayton Kershaw playoffs start As easy as a B C. 123. Is not something that happens very often, right. You feel like you dodged a bullet when you win a Kershaw game in the playoffs in a big play off game, Kershaw has been the dog with fleas in the postseason. And while many of my colleagues on television like to downplay Clayton Kershaw's missteps on radio, we don't do that We don't his World Series resume coming in. I would have him in the bread line. If that was his resume. What into an E? R. A of over five he had pitched in 26 2 3rd innings given up 16 earned runs. Over four starts in five games. But on this night, it reminded and voice in my head. It was Dick Stockton, who told me years ago stats tell you what has happened. They don't tell you what's going to happen. And that was a vintage regular season type of Kershaw performance. And you see that in a big play off game as often as you see a white whale swimming around the ocean, right? Clayton Kershaw got 38 swings. 19. Mrs. He had a whiff rate of 50%. Now the stat geeks tell us that that is the highest Of Clayton Kershaw's career, whether it be the postseason or the regular season that half the time it was S O matter, Miss. That is what's known as flexing your muscles, and it wasn't just Kershaw. Cody Bellenger, Mookie Betts. Max Muncy all had big days. The conga line kept moving. You keep pressure on your opponent 10 hits, they got seven walks. The Dodgers drew seven walks and, more importantly than that. They actually hit when they had runners in scoring position. They batted 3 57 on this day with runners in scoring position. They were five out of 14 follow the ways and is a key. You follow the wisdom often, American legend Will Rogers You never get a second chance to make a first impression. The Dodgers they made their first impression. Now you've got to back that up. You have backed that up in Game two in Game three, but you only played one game and the Dodgers the more talented team they didn't play down to their competition. They played like they were the superior opponent in this matchup. We certainly hope that continues were slightly biased on this now. Part B. If you would like to knit pick That's one of these. We get paid to do hear on the radio. Always to pick apart things in micro analyze. Dave Roberts fell back into some old analytical principles. We were hoping that his gut feeling managerial move. The other night would continue. It did not in this game, managing Clayton Kershaw. For Dave Roberts is like juggling hand grenades. One wrong move one wrong move and your head gets blown off. And I understand partially what Roberts is thinking. Because when I'm watching Clayton Kershaw, I'm thinking, OK, Here's where it all falls apart goes to hell right here, right. This is going to be the inning. It all goes to crap. In a playoff situation. But on this night Kershaw he was dealing He'd only thrown 78 pitches. Through six innings. And ah, very effective there. The Rays hitters were completely flummoxed against Kershaw as we gave you some of the numbers there of 50% with weight, and despite the Dodgers having a huge advantage there up eight tow one. They, Roberts Arbitrarily said. That's it. We're going to take you out of the game. I'd rather take you out of half inning. Too early, then a half inning too late. So that brought in Dillon Florio, who wasn't good and then and then Roberts panic because the Rays attempted the pin shit G may enjoy And so Roberts ran out of the dog and I got to make a change. I

Brewers, Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers discussed on Mark Levin

"From from ESPN they had the dodgers winning last night's game six two zero. And then even after you know, what we've been seeing from the brewers the had the dodgers winning tonight six to three. I mean, oh, you know, you're you're seeing you know, a lot of the the narrative that can the brewers have can they ride this hot street and beat you know, this huge Iran's run spurring dodgers team. Right. And and it's like, you know, we were very hot. I mean. Absolutely. But this is more than just a streak, and this is more than just, you know, October walks. Yeah. Let's look down the line lineup. Yeah. Let's look at this. Okay. The brewers play in a tougher division and the dodgers do up and down. They play baseball. You've got this unbalanced schedule. So the brewers they're playing the cardinals. And they're playing the pirates and they're playing the cubs all teams that are well over five hundred that's the toughest schedule in the National League. And the brewers won four more games than the Los Angeles Dodgers with their two hundred twenty million dollar payroll did. But of course, they're not on anybody's radar screens because well TV the TV people live in Los Angeles where they live in New York. So they're not paying attention to the brewers. And and it can it's just I guess, I am venting. I admit it. But and maybe I've got this chip on my shoulder. But this is a great story and people should be talking about how exciting this team is to come out of nowhere and be doing all this great stuff instead of well, they're lucky the riding the wave or whatever. Absolutely. And. I think what's interesting is. You know, you bring up a good point the Milwaukee Brewers don't give as many nationally televised games. So all writing a little bit under the radar. If you're not around the area. But I mean, you look at our partitioning staff, which has been given great, you know, actually been given the respect. But even even with our pitching staff, you had you had traditions that you know, the dodgers bats are just too high. It'd be starting to Iran's. But then you look at past two games. And it's just not. Exactly. I mean, look is it possible that LA's going gonna come back and win the series? Yes. I guess it's possible. I I respect them. They are a good team. What I am frustrated with is the lack of respect that our team is getting a team that had a better regular season record than the vaunted dodgers, and at least as of right now is leading in the series guaranteeing that you know, worst case scenario there's gonna be a game six in Milwaukee, and candidly, candidly were it not for you know, one bad pitch in one bad inning. Dodgers would be trying to win tonight to avert. A sweet this has been the dodgers have been at least in my opinion completely. And totally outplayed by the Milwaukee Brewers. But don't expect to hear that if you tune into the national coverage, here's a text. I'm sick of hearing the national media keep on insinuating that the brewers are over achieving lucky and that NFL likely. Manager of the year Craig counsel, supposedly doesn't know what he's doing. Absolutely, absolutely. And I mean, this I guess this is what you come to expect. When you have this great local team that's on the national stage. But I'm frustrated with four one four seven nine nine one six twenty. Let's talk to let's see let's talk to Dan in greenvale, Daniel WTMJ good afternoon. Hey, Jeff, I think it has a lot to do with the west coast by Fania. The market out there. You know, I don't think I don't necessarily think their their dog and the brewers just they're really hoping for the dodgers in their for their ratings are greater back on what Kansas City won the World Series. Great World Series of very low rated. Yes. Right, right. The the ideal dream of the networks is Los Angeles. And now that knew it would have been Los Angeles and New York, but now that Los Angeles, the Yankees are out of it, the dream is the dodgers and the Red Sox, you know, two of the larger media markets, Houston and Milwaukee. Oh my gosh. That's flyover country. How can you know? What's that gonna do? So I think you're you're probably onto the brewers were. Okay. Sunday night. Baseball is ESPN's featured thing it's it's sort of like Sunday night football. The brewers didn't play on Sunday night baseball. They weren't scheduled any time. This year mean seriously how many times can you watch the Yankees play? The Boston Red Sox four one four seven nine nine one six twenty Mike in Waterford micro WTMJ afternoon. I definitely agree with what you're saying. And I think part of the problem with the analyst, especially as of yet don't know how to analyze a team like the brewers. They're completely different. They do the analytics like who who announces the bullpen as the starting pitchers the brewers. And so these guys that have played traditional baseball traditional cities with traditional teams with the big starting pitching what to say about him in the first place. Right. And they still can't grasp the fact that they're winning that way. It's almost like when the west coast offense came into nobody believed that the San Francisco forty Niners. We're going to be that good. Because how can you do this with their stink and drive and no running game and stuff like that? I go way up playing baseball. And I agree with you, Mike, except I'm willing to make a prediction if the situation were reversed in the brewers were the more conventional team with the starters that went seven innings and the dodgers were the ones that were pushing the envelope and all this stuff. My guess is the spin would be how incredibly unconventional they're rewriting all the rules. This is the future of baseball look at where visionary Dave Roberts. That would be the big the big story. And and I I don't think they like the fact that this new way of playing baseball is coming from Milwaukee. Yes. Absolutely. I think you're exactly right. They resent it. They don't understand it. And they okay. This is not the way it's done. And here you have this little team out of Milwaukee to been able to do this. And I just look I understand inventing. But but somebody who's been a long suffering baseball fan for a long time and a huge brewers fan. I think this is a special season. I do and. And it is frustrated me all along that this team isn't getting the respect that. I think it deserves outside of Milwaukee. Now as long as they keep winning, it doesn't matter and see. That's that's I guess the bottom line keep winning. And you know, who cares? What anybody else thinks? But I think the coverage of the brewers and the national commentators, and then blessed the left the the left coast bias that you've seen towards the the dodgers has been just appalling, I understand that you can pick and choose and somebody that's a great game or or whatever. But just just watch the criticism of the council gets for the different decisions. He makes that did end up. They end up working did end up working because what the brewers are doing right now is something special looking I fully understand dodgers. Could maybe go ahead and win three in a row. And then they go on to the World Series. And Welby said even though it's been a great year. But I mean, this this is an incredibly good story. It's a wonderful story. And it is unfortunate that that story is not. Being told to the national the national audience on a better basis. So luckily, the answer to all this is of course, just to turn down the sound turn up WTMJ and listened to Bob and Jeff do the call. That's of course, the answer to it. But it doesn't change the frustration that I have listening to a lot of the commentators who don't know the brewers don't like the viewer. The brewers don't know anything about Milwaukee and desperately want to see the Los Angeles Dodgers win. Well, maybe they're going to get their wish. But I wouldn't be surprised if I don't know every once in a while the good guys win. And maybe some of the announcers the Joe bucks of the world the Bob Costas of the world. Maybe then they'll even have to figure out how to pronounce the names of some of the brewers players for forty-nine, Jeff Wagner WTMJ. Twelve
