"For my podcast milk off just through email. I've never met any of these people. The only time i ever meet with the company's draftkings or i got actually got some new cool companies. Coming is when you do this sales call before you do the average on your show so they can tell you a little about your company. You can talk to them any questions. You never actually. I never even seen him. But when i've done big deals with like local companies. I go to lunch with them. I see them in person. They wanna see me in person. Just like if you're going to draft a guy in the first round more than likely you're going to meet the guy you're going to spend time with the player why 'cause you're investing a lot in them now. Here's why we'll give the rams a lot of credit. They don't the forty time is a relevant to them. They have found a way to use the gps tracking. Did they get from the colleges in factor that in with the film and find out how fast the guy place because the times right now all over. The country are insanely fast. Every dude is running between like four three eight nine four four eight now. If these guys have all gone the combine half of them would be in the four five and four sixes but the dude that would normally run a four. Six five at the combine is running like a four or five one at school weight. That fast jamaa chase. Who's a top ten player in this draft ran four threes ida scout. Tell me that they got him at four three six. I like jamaal chase. I would take him probably in the top twelve. He ain't a four three six guys probably like four four eight so but if i find out as real time like the forty yard dash can be a little overrated. The some of the the lateral testing to me. If you can see on film. The guy has lateral agility. He can make guys miss. I don't need them to run a short shuttle right. I don't need them to do a vertical jump. If i watch if he's damore chaser and i see how explosive us. There's a reason slow guys. Don't like running. Because they're slow they voice low on tape and some guys some slower players play passed on tape right or able to play around it. Anquan boldin keenan allen like those guys can't run it doesn't matter like i don't need to watch run a forty two. No you're faster. Not if you if you could scout worth their salt but to think that like the rams are revolutionizing everything not sending people to these important events is kind of bs because they haven't had any picks to me. This would be a major story if they had nailed the last five first round picks they haven't had a first round picks jared goff and they won't have one til two thousand. They don't have one this year. They won next year. They won't have one til two thousand and twenty three. So i just think you don't reinvent the wheel and scouting because like i always said you're dealing with people and the reason you want to get guys testing numbers so you could compare them to previous players in the nfl that are having success and not having success but the reason most of these guys succeed once they have the baseline talent is. The work ethic is their toughness. Is there intangible stuff obviously quarterback but same with other positions. I know a lot of linemen that get washed out. There is kinda lazy. the.

"Went to new york. My question was at wilson. How's it going to handle it mentally. Is he going to be okay to just the the daily pressure in the negativity. That comes with being the quarterback in new york. It's har- sam can handle it. Sam actually now gets to go to carolina which is much more low-key coming off a terrible really two years so he gets an easy landing spot. Also joe brady should think is lucky stars because when you're drafting eight you don't have a great opportunity to get a quarterback you're stuck with teddy bridgewater who let's face. It is a good backup. Not a star. You get sam darnold. Who actually has a lot of parallels people forget joe burrow like joe burrow became a star but before he was a store his year before at lsu we thought he was an average player. And then joe brady came. And he became joe burrow the number one overall pick who went to cincinnati and before he got hurt. Looked like he was going to be a pro bowl level. Guy in this league. So joe brady gets a quarterback that actually has a lot of parallels to joe burrow in just the terms of the way he plays athletically keeping plays alive with his legs being able to improvise. Now we have things clean up but they have weapons last. I love frank gore frank. Gore's a legend where i live an absolute legend. But he's fifty years old in a league where it's never been easier to find random. Running backs undrafted guys and you can start them and kind of develop them into good players. The jets were frank. Gore was starter like i like joe douglas. That's an embarrassment. Was adam gates making that happen. Like i would have said we're not doing this. We're gonna take some practice squad and we're gonna play with some upside. He had no wide receivers his offensive line beside the left tackle. They drafted was a train wreck now he gets to go to carolina with the offense coordinator who who went from being an all time high at lsu getting a probably a huge pay raise going through all the carolina to like kind of being irrelevant last year. I know someone hit me like middlekauff. You're talking to you about joe. Brady had multiple thousand yard receivers. Mccaffrey was yeah. I get that but no one else. Out of carolina paid attention. Joe brady is a guy that if sam darnold's good this year who i think it could be. I mean they got a bunch of offensive weapons. They have a high pick. They can take a swath of lyman. They could take an impact wide receiver. Hell they can take kyle pits. Who's to say that they couldn't have like a top seven or eight offense in all of a sudden is joe brady locked. Get head coaching job next year. That's how fast this thing can turn right. We go from joe brady. Is the guy that change joe. Burrow's life too. Damn carolina offense the top five in the league right now. Top bypassing offense. Insane sam darnold. I'll maybe sam wasn't a joke. Maybe it was just the stink about adam gays in sometimes. When you're young if you get in the wrong situation think how many stories in life you read about people that fucked up. When they were young. I was running with the wrong crowd..

"Nope it's geico that. Shakespeare from one of his unpublished works would be not for awakening. Ma give it. Though the berries for fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more. No it's from gyco 'cause they help save people money. Well i hate to break it to you but geico got it from shakespeare gyco fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more and i wanted to talk about sam darnold and just the situation that arose by getting traded. Now this kind of been the elephant in the room. I can't imagine being twenty three years old. When i was twenty three years old. I was technically. I think i graduated college when i was twenty three now. I went for five years five years. five year. plan wasn't a four year guy. But i i i was not very much earned my twenty s when it came to money when it came to pressure when it came to real life. I did most of my growing up probably happen. Twenty nine to thirty five thirty six. It keeps going. But i these kids so much credit sam darnold at twenty three gets the nfl at twenty twenty one years. Old is the starting quarterback for the new york jets. That's pressure that's that's intense pressure. Now i was fired twice by the time i was thirty one and you know when i was growing up that word yet fired. That meant you're late you're lazy. you're a bad worker. I remember the first time it happened. I was just very insecure. About telling anyone like you still work for the eagles like kind of moved on. No i got fired. Contract wasn't renewed but it was cute. Kelly came in and we argued in the draft meeting and he wanted to bring his guy. Whatever should happen in pro sports you're hired to be fired and then i got into radio. Which is kind of similar like shows get cancelled all the time and tv and radio. Podcasting no cancellations. "When i got out of college when all you guys listening got out of college or out of high school or whatever i think little. I technically had to go to college to become a without an undergraduate degree. I actually never would have been worked. Never been would have been able to work in football because my in was basically being able to go to graduate school. Even though i'm not a huge believer of the college system like really what i do now and everything i've done since i left. Cal poly has nothing to do with anything. I learned in school in my two years of fresno state when i got a graduate degree. They both hang on my wall right now. My mom framed before me literally. There's nothing. I learned it either of those places in a classroom that impacts my life right now not one thing. I've learned everything from the streets from real life right and but to to work in football. That's where i had to work but my first job. Whatever our first jobs are doesn't define you write it doesn't you don't carry that with you the rest of your life. If you went to work at some sales job for some tech company you went to work as an accountant at kpmg. Whatever you did in your first quote unquote real fulltime job. Five years later you might have three jobs since five years later. You might start your own company. Five years later you might be working in a completely different industry doing great right. It's a relevant yet in football and improve sports your first job. Is you get drafted right. And where you get drafted kind of defines the rest of your career a little bit or at least the conversation revolving around it like really why. Tom brady one of the first things we ever say about him. He's one seven super bowls was he was sticks round pick that is a defining characteristic of his attribute of his entire story. So when we're talking about drafting these guys really high. We're shooting for pro bowlers star players. And it's pretty clear right now. The way the draft is shaping up. Trevor lawrence has been the number one. Pick forever zach. Wilson's going number two. I told colin on his on his volume pod that one thing i had heard from a buddy who worked with joe douglas and this makes sense right my core philosophies of football the mike core beliefs and football. We're taught to me by two people and really just to philosophical ideas hill in the fresno state football program. And then when i got to eagles andy reid palley in the eagles what we look foreign players and learning from the beaches and the lewis's and the people that i worked around that has defined the way that i watched football and it's it's changed probably a little bit over time as some of these guys have gone different places and they've had success with different type players and just watching the forty niners and the raiders in my backyard. I've changed a little bit. But i was of. I was brought up and talent. Trump's all that was the thing at fresno state pat loved talent loved elite traits and he was taught once upon a time by bilgic check with the cleveland. Browns and andy had zero height requirements size requirements. We just wanna players. Whether you're looking to sean..

"Cody. Thanks for coming back on. I in the enemy man. How are you. I'm doing great great to be with you. I'm excited to talk some football absolutely and let's jump right in to the eagles. Coaching search here. Because more names get added to this list everyday to say that the eagles have cast a wide net would be understating it a little bit. You tweeted out. And i think it was either yesterday or today but as a recording. This on the fourteenth is was on the thirteenth. You tweeted out a whole list of names. We've got carolina offensive coordinator. Joe brady tennis offensive coordinator arthur smith san francisco defensive coordinator robert soleil tampa bay defensive coordinator. Todd bowles new england linebackers coach. John mayo kansas city quarterbacks coach mike kafka philadelphia assistant head coach do staley oklahoma head coach lincoln riley ohio state head coach ryan day. Cincinnati head. Coach luke fickle and more are coming each and every day and i know among eagles fans. You know we see this as a pretty dysfunctional team right now. We see this as an organization. That doesn't seem to know exactly what they're doing and we're skeptical as to whether or not a a really high profile coach is going to want to come here given the list of names here. Where are you at on this eagles. Coaching search as there really are just getting started right. Now yeah and we saw it just kellen more added today and obviously you know they're going to continue to cast the net and i think just in general. I think there's a little merit to the idea that you know when you compare openings. The eagles aren't A bursting with attraction just because of the situation. I mean Doug peterson clearly. If the reports are to be believed is is kind of worn down from from this run with eagles. And but i honestly don't put too much stock into this idea that they're undesirable because at the end of the day there's thirty two jobs. There's thirty two head. Coaching jobs in the nfl. We see guys in view with with teams like the jets and the jaguars every coaching cycle. Yes they sometimes have high picks so they sometimes have a lot of cap space but at the end of the day. It's nfl fell head coaching job. You can't tell me you know if you're joe brady and you're getting interest from all these teams. I mean you're not going to just not going to turn down the opportunity and so And eventually some of the spots are gonna get filled For me i mean i. I start for the eagles with looking at the offensive side of the ball. I know that's it's a big talking point. Jeffrey lurie with with you know really any eagles fan. That's been under or watching. Jeffey larry hires run. The team I i think really it comes down to are you going for You're gonna have to sacrifice somewhere. Because with somebody like joe brady even kellen moore. You're really banking on them. Being kind of an offensive mastermind and up and coming mastermind as opposed to this Person who's been around the league for years and respected and you know doug peterson even though he didn't have head coaching experience. Jeffrey loria himself talked about that emotional intelligence he talked about. Doug peterson former quarterback. In this league he had time under andy reid and so i. I think it's just a matter of where are they gonna sacrifice. Because if they go with robert. Sal the forty niners you're sacrificing. You might bring in a nice offensive coordinator with them but he may leave here for another head coaching job. And so what do they want. We're gonna find out.

Lamar Jackson gets his first playoff victory as Ravens beat Titans

"About the final game from day to of Wild Card Weekend the Ravens at the Titans. So Baltimore one 2213, it's Lamar Jackson's first-ever playoff win. Now. I always thought that the kind of narrative about well Lamar Jackson can't win in the playoffs my God still he he lost both games in two years like whatever. I I thought it was always massively overblown, but it was a hard tough fought game really interesting really exciting the Ravens against the Titans is it's really become a public library in my opinion and these two teams do not like each other at all.

Falcons interview Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady for head coach position

"Just reported that the Falcons completed a virtual interview with the Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady. For their head coaching job. You're it may feel like their arm or individuals being interviewed for these head coaching positions, and you'd be right. It's because the virtual interview makes it so easy for somebody to just Allocate two or three hours, Sit down, and I don't have to fly to your city. I don't know if my team is in the playoffs then, and I don't know if they do this after this year. Because that's what if I'm the NFL. I would advocate for that. Therefore, you get more people who want to get a chance to interview. You want to know what the questions are on the chest? You may not have the right answers. But those who have been in the process of told me before. You don't know what they're going to ask. And until you know that you don't know how to prepare. And it does

"He's a smart guy. I think he's a guy who's got this sort of positive energy that if it's being deployed with, you know, with certain types of folks, they react to that positively, you know what I mean? Like not There's not everybody in the building is anti Jack Easterby. You know, you ask Brandon Cook he loves Jack used to be, you know, met him when he was with the Patriots, and Jack used to be is a big reason My brain and cooks is here now. Um, now, if you ask me, I think the majority of the people are probably, you know, feel like it's a big dark cloud over the organization. But it is. It's strange, You know, it's really strange acting as if you talk to people up in New England, which we've been doing a lot over the last 48 hours on our shows. Devastation. And really, this is something that goes back A while because Easter bees rise to power didn't happen in the last two days. It's been an ongoing thing. If you talk to people in New England who covered the Patriots win, Easterby was up there. They can't believe the amount of power that he's accumulated with the Texans. He was a character coach with the Patriots. You talk to people up there in May say Man fans would have a hard time even identifying who he was. If you can, the sidelines. Did you do it here? I don't know. Jack used to being out in public. Now. Everybody knows who is here in town here in Houston. So you know where his the roots were sown. The seeds were sown for his career up there in New England. Those people can't believe he has this much power, which I think is very, very telling as well. I just thought of this analogy. You tell me if it's fair or not, Cal make there. It's like when you're in middle school. You're sitting down the lunch table. Cal McNair is the sixth grade seventh grade boy and you're sitting next to the best looking girl, and that girl's basically could say whatever she wants, like, Oh, do you want to eat the broccoli that my parents gave me and you just go? Yes, That's the relationship in my opinion, anything this guy says, But they're just says yes. Yeah, it would appear, you know, Look, I'm not in any of those meetings, so I don't know exactly how the conversation goes down, but it is incredible The amount of apparent influence that he has over things. So I mean, it's hard not to connect the dots like that, right? I mean, we've got to Got what a year and a half plus worth of a body of work to go off of, and you know, the All you can do is just judge the results in the behavior and the fact of the matter is Jack Easterby is undefeated in power struggles. You know, I'm either There are a lot of folks who have been in that building for a long had been in that building for a long, long time and had been very good. At their jobs. And there are a lot of bringing the names that people listening here aren't familiar with. But, you know, salary cap experts and directors of player development. These are all people who had great grades and how they did their job. And I'm just aiming too. I mean, Bill O'Brien. Bill O'Brien wasn't great at his job, but he was a pretty powerful dude in the building. Obviously, he lost the power struggle. It's a really mean it. It would be remarkable here in Houston. It would be remarkable if it weren't so sad and so angry. You know what I mean? Yeah, if I was, if I was a fan of the Texans right now, there'd be no other feeling and just being Pio Charm. Pendergast here with us CBS Sports radio host on the weekends. 2 to 6 P.m. Eastern, also host morning drive on 6, 10 and Houston, one of our affiliates withdrawn right now. I'm coaching wise. Is there a preference on who you want? And then is there first and that you think one Don't get in the job early on in this process? Yeah, I mean, my preference. What? My preference all along. I've been a big urban Meyer guy. I've I've been a big urban Meyer fan going back to you know, when he was a position coach at Notre Dame like that's how far back I go admiring his work. I don't think he was ever gonna be the guy here. Sadly, he protected band he might wind up being in the division, though coaching Trevor Laurence. Jacksonville of the ones that are reasonable that I feel like should be on the radar. For this, though I'm disappointed the organization hasn't reached out to Robert Saleh, the defensive coordinator in San Francisco, who had really, really like and who's a former assistant? Here in Houston for five years during the Gary Kubiak era. They even reached out to him. A lot of Texan fans of very disappointed they ever reached out to Eric, the enemy. We did a bracket back in November of 32 different names and let listeners of our station boat Who the next head coach should be. And those were the final two or salad and the enemy and they haven't reached out to either of them. I liked. The idea of Joe Brady is interesting to me, and it would actually be encouraging of Nicholas. Ariel, who's going to be involved in this higher were to hire Joe Brady because it would be a something sort of outside of that Patriot way box. It would be serving outside the box kind of risky higher so that that's an intriguing one. I think the name that's really popping up Lot now is Brian Day Ball in Buffalo, the offensive coordinator there because he's got ties to the Patriots. He's got ties to Easterby. Hey, actually recommended Easterby to the Patriots back in 2013. Because he was with him in Kansas City and 2012. So you know, if you're looking for fingers to point in Houston is due to blame. This whole used to be things starting out seven years ago, looking further than Brian Day ball, So I think they bought it and I, You know, I don't know. I think David would be a little like this area where we didn't have that Easterby stink on him. People would actually be pretty excited about it. But there's just such a thing. There's such a stigma Zack with Easterby and stigma with the Patriot Way because of Bill O'Brien that I think I think fans would be less than enthused. About that so day balls, the name evil Flu's Arthur Smith, those other names that they have Daniel shot. No, I know. And you have John McClane on blast? No, Yeah, Johnson very adamant about that. And I think job's pretty plugged in. And so I tend to believe John that this McDade in that look if John hasn't said that if there wasn't news out there like that from John I think everybody would be terrified that it would be Josh McDaniels right now coaching the taxes, But I tend to believe John has good intel on that. And so I would say no. One McDaniels two more for Shawn Pendergast, DeAndre Hopkins. Get him back to that tree. Because whenever you talk about the Texans, you have to bring up Hopkins. Was that mainly contract related or is there more there? Because you hear Ah lot of things around that one. I think there's definitely more there. And if you were to ask Bill O'Brien or Jack Easterby or even comic there, they would say it's contract related. But I think you just look at Bill O'Brien's behavior as the general manager here over the Yes, it was less than a year. I think that he was really seems like a real manager. It feels like it was 10 years. My God, um was so bad that got it was bad. But I think you look it guys we got rid of like Clowney and Hopkins guys who were good players that didn't necessarily treat practice like it was some sort of sacred ritual. You know, guys who are you know they're on Sundays. Maybe not all there the other six days of the week, and then he goes and overpays guys like Whitney Mercilus and Eric Murray. You know, guys like and people are like who? Exactly? That's what I say to that. Um, he would overpaid guys like that, because they're quote tough, smart, dependable guys. The problem is they weren't good football..

Louisiana State University parts ways with Bo Pelini after one season as Tigers overhaul defensive coaching staff

"There are multiple reports out there right now. That bo pollini is gone from. Lsu that Experiment did not work very well. So several media outlets reporting this hour. That bo pollini is not coming back on twenty one. That was certainly the most controversial decision that it owes. You're on made let's Welcome in stewart. Mandel to the program. Stuart thank you very much Before we even get to the ball situation. I'd like to get your thoughts on that Well paul i gue-. I guess i would say that. That's something that we've all expected. Since about the second game of the season it just a bad higher and you know it's interesting that a year ago Does ron was getting all the praise in the world for an inspired Higher joe brady the passing game coordinator. Who kinda helps And it was instrumental in joe burrow's rise and that national championship. And then you had some staff changes to make this after this past season and we hire both lean. He's a big name and he's had success before and i get that but it just seemed like it was just such a terrible fit. He tried to revamp their scheme entirely. And this was a program. That had success under dave randall. On defense it wasn't broken. Tried to completely revamp the scheme regardless of the personnel. They lost so many guys to the draft last year and then and then even more before the season. And i just wasn't a good fit and just just a historically bad defensively shoot this year.

Vanderbilt-Missouri is the first SEC game postponed due to COVID-19

"We welcome you back. Our is live and underway busy busy I our. Thirty minutes ago we learned that the first SEC game has been postponed of this twenty twenty campaign it will be. Rescheduled Vanderbilt Missouri scheduled for this Saturday in Columbia. Now, be December twelfth. We'll talk to coach drink in thirty minutes and get his reaction to that. So here we go more phone calls in a minute a lot of fans unhappy from every aspect of the winners and losers speaking of the latter. Let's talk about the Lsu Tigers two weeks ago Scott Rabble a came on. Wasn't ready to hit the panic button. Everything was calm. Scott's gotcha very scopes. Scott Seen It all before. Scott. Have you seen anything quite like the ending of Saturday's game? Good afternoon how are you? and got to the NFL Yeah that's that's you mentioned I'm kind of reminded of the and it's not a good time Lsu that ninety nine, Game Alabama when just food he tried to run the ball down like. John elway. Pin Wheeled in the air came up a yard short and and they you know they they threw the ball and the they did it. They didn't score. So yeah, it was. It was reminds me of you not good times for Lsu but you know. I gotta say the way lsu played Saturday. On defense but also on offense failing to convert a third down there really is kind of justice. They didn't really deserve to win that game I, mean they they you know they pulled it out and they would've pulled it out there. It would have been a win that covered up a lot of a lot of issues. So what? I don't know if it's safe to go outside I. Mean I know I know the version fortunately escaped the worst of the storm the other day was farther to the West but I mean what? What what is the buzz in your town especially both Pallini and and I mean three games in he seems like he's on the tip of everyone's tongue is it fair? Oh. Sure? Yeah. Absolutely. I mean this is the this is the defense that You know this change Dave Randall left defensor longtime defensive coordinator WHO's hard under? Les. Miles. You know the several years ago he left me the head coach at Baylor. So they had to hire someone like forced out or anything. So hopefully knew who was here under miles and those first three great years in the Mouse Oh, five Oh, six Oh, seven the end up with a national championship and you know just it hasn't worked at me. This questions is Bo behind the Times is not adjusted to those are some great defensive back then with Clinton Dorsey and Tyson Jackson and and you know you're a great players like that got a little on Landry secondary great players like that, and you kind of wonder you know the Adjusting but. It's just been Y- coaches you're on himself is trying to put it all on him and the coaches and they got a coach better. You said that, Saturday, after the game you set it on his press conference today, they just lost followed. They're they're good players on the Stevens, their high NFL draft pick on the defense Derek Stanley Jacoby Stevens to real cox the transfer for. North. Dakota. State people said he might have been a first round draft pick. Had He come? Out and said of transferring Ali Gay Defensive End they lost a lot of great players, but this shouldn't be this bad and aurons You know famously said, then the all season, the defense look better in practice than at any time last year, and obviously that is not the case and they gave up eight plays a twenty yards of more. Missouri averaged almost nine yards per play and five and a half yards per carry it and it just that's just not. That's just not winning football and worst of all they all she just looked. I saw gene gene Chizik said after the game. So you. Look, like on Defense Soft and lost, and Lsu looks like both unfortunately for them. By, the way everything you just got through saying you could replicate for three or four other SEC schools except none of them are the defending champions like Lsu. Scott we're three games in I. Mean we all know that and I'm not sure how much you can value. A. Win Over Vanderbilt Right now considering the state of that program. But as you look ahead I, mean you don't look any farther than this weekend against Florida. LSU will need to score seventy points to keep up with them. Immediate? Looks. That way and I'm not a betting Guy Pa, my government I think I've looked at the over maybe go for that Florida's defense looks pretty challenge to Alabama wins and gives up forty eight points to stole miss. But the the disturbing serving big frail issue. Yeah. Everyone's having trouble defensively No question. Do you wonder if that lack of spring football or the proper time to prepare in the off season has hurt them But you know you look at that once you give six, hundred, twenty, three guys and the Mississippi State, history has been dreadful offense against Arkansas and Kentucky the last two weeks Missouri scored like I think three touchdowns combined the first Games averaging like fifteen points a game against Alabama Tennessee and it just go wild lsu just look great. I mean that's that's the part. That's that's extra disturbing prelates pans and like the lsu fans always. Always wanted this offense obviously, they complained for years and rightly. So by the the plotting less miles offense, but there's a lot of pride in the school, the the the the billy cannon is the star up in you know and and now Joe Borough and players like that. But the tried is always been the defense, the Chinese bandits, Tommy Tests Inova Win Dorsey Laurent Landry mentioned, Patrick, Peterson, Taran Taran Matthew, and what else he doesn't play Great Defense I. Think this is this is like a core value of lsu's program that is not being being held a lived up to, and it's it's very troubling Tila lsu probably would take a little less offense for some better defensive as. Scott Realistically I mean this weekend looks like a long shot I would have to say I mean still Alabama. Out There Auburn out there. South, Carolina am I mean everyone knows the schedule? I mean before the season some might be hard to win them all but maybe maybe eight or nine. Where's the sliding scale right now? Ball I don't know it's sliding really. Really. Bad way down the hill. You know a lot of hills here in Baton Rouge but he found it. It's sledding Hill that way. Down Victory Hill Yes for the team marches down normally before the Games by Tigers stadium is not vitriol right now I I like everybody else said like the six games else who's GonNa win and four games where the season's going to be decided Alabama Auburn Florida and Texas a&M, and right now I don't think he can after South Carolina just banning by the same score Lsu did Arkansas has played. She's gotTa go to they'll South Carolina, comes here in in two weeks I don't I don't think. There's any Sherwin left for L. Share on the schedule I don't think they're gonNA go one nine but I think right now you just gotTa. Look at what can you do to have a have a winning season they're still good players There's on this team in town they lost a lot from last year obviously, but you know the they've got to. Change, the things coach today coach talk today about simplifying both offense and defense. Again remember the offense was Owen on third down Saturday that's a pretty bad step to although this court forty-one points should have been enough to win, but it's still some really great players on the House Brennan. Has Not Been, Joe Borough, been very good. You know he's had over three hundred yards passing game over four hundred yards Saturday tariffs, marshalls been tremendous hit two, hundred, thirty, five, yard service and three touchdowns Saturday. So this, this isn't good players in the team, but they just got to get tougher and and find a way to grind out a win somewhere and and this is not entirely similar fall I gotta say from twenty. Dissimilar from twenty seventeen she lost at home Detroit and went to Florida the next week and they won the game I'm not saying I'm not predicting she win. But this have the size, a lot of field of that when they kind of looked tougher and more determined and they found a way to win and they've never looked back games on order on, they're gonna be hard pressed to avoid doing that obviously late this week. He had I wouldn't call it a charm to existence because now that you mentioned the troy game and there had been some ups and downs but certainly coming off the best year ever how is he handling the defeats? A He's he's trying to take a lot of the blame on himself and deflected from his team Not exactly deflecting from the assistant coaches said, he's talked about, hey, on defensive we just have one coverage and one one formation. Let's do that. Let's and you said. Some things on offense too. I think he's kind of talking about Scott Lenihan, the new guy, a passing game coordinator WHO and Red Zone specialists who take the place of Joe Brady who who was on the staff last year and of course talking about Botha? Lenient? Coach, and he said something telling today I thought that you said, you know the most Ryan. The defense but he he's he's going to you know be checked in on every formation every plan that they use you know as a defensive line coach that's his forte he he's going to be I think maybe a little more hands on with the formations they use and the and the and the coverages, and but some of that are doing well, he's Got Thrown out I think that. This is the defense he wanted this is he talking about being wardrobe four three and they've got a great. Turn of Russia there plus six turnover ratio they're doing very well at that the they're causing some some big plays in that in that regard and turnovers just can't get off the field and can't Can't stop people and giving up a big big yards on the ground, and then these these huge places. The elected eight plays a twenty yards or more Saturday and gets very, which is

Some early thoughts on Texas A&M's next season

"Talking Data Merton Berg Espn Senior Senior College football writer. Let's expand this a little bit on the SEC. Next year a lot of thoughts on on on the West. Lsu Shoe Obviously Alabama probably not going too far Who else do you see? Maybe making a run or do you see anyone making a run at least for the West I I again I think that you take 'em pay Jimbo Fisher. Seventy five million dollars guaranteed to do better than this. Now you've got two years To to get settled battled to to figure out the direction of the program. Now it's time to start competing they're gonNA have experienced. I think on both sides of the ball. They have some spots to fill defensively. I know you lost a couple of receivers to the NFL draft. But if it's not gonNA happen in your three. I think some doubts GonNa be setting in in college station that we we paid this guy all all this money to compete with the likes of certainly Alabama but also now LSU in Auburn when is when are we gonNA get a return on that investment. So I think there's GonNa be a lot of pressure sure on taxes and this is again a team that I think could make some noise on that side and then in the east. You're probably Georgia's Florida again and Georgia's fascinating fascinating because they have to close that gap offensively much like Lsu. "Is because the packers I made the actual. We're cutting this player transaction in the league year. If the panthers don't do that then Luke keithly remains as a panther if he ever comes back and knowing luke that's what he would want anyway. Yeah that's what he would want anyway. I genuinely believe he is he is. He's retiring because he feels like he can't or doesn't want to our doesn't have the ability to play at high level anymore. It's got nothing to do with the coaching changes or anything like that. That's the furthest thing from it just just to interject real quick especially since even while Luke was like clearly not himself last year as far as like being like the top linebacker in the league he was still a top ten linebacker you. You could get some draft capital form. It wasn't like Carolina was holding them hostage. No he was no longer the best middle linebacker in the league big but it was still good and I know a lot of people are going to hate hearing me say this but he he has gotten to the point where he was was not better than Bobby Wagner agreed hundred percent and I make a lot of people mad but as truth and I'm sorry that your feelings are so fragile. It can't handle hearing that Seattle seahawks players Good Russell. Wilson's an elite quarterback too but anyway Wisconsin's own Russell Wilson by the way But the other thing about leuke Kelly's retirement and this has been a confusing point for a lot of people so this is as an educational monologue here. The panthers actually gained cap space by this news. Event Luke equally was GONNA cost about fifteen and a half million dollars in cap space if he were on the roster because he retired the remainder of the dead money on his contract accelerates to this cap this league year because he restructured his contract at the beginning of last year and converted salary salary to bonus that means he has ten point. Eight million dollars in or eleven point eight million dollars. I'm sorry in dead cap that counts against the salary salary cap. The fifteen million no longer does so the panthers are gaining the three point. Six seven five five five whatever. It is million million dollars in space. They're not losing fifteen million. They're gaining three point seven. Okay and what about the the other twelve is irrelevant because we were gonNA pay him fifteen. We're now paying eleven. Think of it that way so that three point seven million. There's not a lot of money but it is cap space and the other thing the most important thing on cat stretch reader dot com. No we will not not gonNA COP pick for retiring. Retired players do not count towards Picks it only includes free agency. No retirements no trades no cuts. It's how many players did you gain in free agency versus. How many players did you lose? We deserve cope pick so we deserve a cope pick but we will not get a Coptic. I hope that clears. Yeah I mean gene like it's kind of it sucks that people are sticking to the fact that is that he counts against the cap this year take because they don't understand how money works. Yeah don't get mad at something if you don't understand it like it would be as if you sign onto a contract with your. Let's say you're a steel worker. And they paid you save fifteen thousand dollars up front for three years of work and you retired at one and they would have owed you say I don't know a whole fifteen million but instead they owe you eight because that's what you sign on four for one year of work so that one year they still owed eight million but you don't owe them or they don't owe you you for the next two seasons. It's just dumb. I don't understand why people easiest way to explain how how contracts work in.

"He's making two and a half million dollars Brent Venables who I thought was the highest paid coordinator. Emily tweeted during the game some Lsu Fan. He's actually because I looked it up. Venables makes about two point. Two Million Aranda Handy was making two and a half million dollars and he's not even the boss. He doesn't get any of the criticism and he is clearly important. His team is is always going to have a leak defensive players. I'd say that's one of the better jobs in America I'd stay. LSU Like Venables. For a while. And I look at myself like a pretty ambitious person person. I don't think you're like turn down jobs because you're scared. You have a great gig. Look at Brad Venables. The guy's GONNA become a legend at Clemson make he's bread venables. The defensive coordinator Clemson has almost a twelve million dollar contract. He's not even the head coach. But these coaches are not wired like that they move and they move and they move and they move and they move and they move. It's just I most of us can't relate especially once you started making a lot of money if I had a good job. It's why I like if I was Lincoln Riley I'd stay in Oklahoma for a long time. I really would now. I'm not wired like a coach is why I kinda got out of the business partly because I just wanted to do other shit but also I wasn't in the moving business. And that's why I do. Respect these coaches. They look at communities like stepping stones. I I mean just really really means nothing to because the majority of them are not going to be bill ballot. Check that are going to be able to be a place for twenty five years or Andy. Reid that's going to have two jobs gobs and both of them I mean he co chief for another ten years so he could have two jobs fifteen years each like. That's not normal. Most guys jump around most guys get higher. Most guys is get fired. You know they say you're kind of hired to be fired and that's the way these guys think and it's truly with the with the amount of money it just. It's pretty nuts. It really really is and these guys. These coaches.

"Should lead on that group because it might be the strength that this entire team wait till the one and Roger South are playing right now. They're getting movement on people so you just don't see very often Ben. Jones has had a really nice season at center that group needs to dominate for them to win this game but I also think they need to hit some huge place they absolutely need two three four over the top shots. We're GONNA need a more than one hundred hundred yards from Ryan Tannehill that. That's my recommendation. Let's get more than one hundred yards from Montana but beyond that you know you mentioned Chris Jones Chris Jones because it was a late scratch because he did go out for warm ups and then was was deemed inactive. Is this an injury. Sorry that no one talks about but a man he really. He's really important to them. And I I actually someone who picked the chiefs started to worry a little bit when I saw that injury and a you're going to want Chris Jones Against Derrick Henry Mike and he's their best pass. rusher Yup I know Frank Clark had three sacks last week but he's going to lot of sacks late and downs he's been pretty good over the second half of the season but he hasn't been a world record force this year so I think that if they can slow down the pass is rush if Jones doesn't play especially and they can throw the ball a little bit though have a chance. I think it's the type of game type of game we saw when they won. It's not four hundred yards from Ryan tannehill but it's nineteen throws one hundred eighty yards. It's efficiency it's big plays and it's a lot of Derrick Henry. I think that recipe is is what they need to follow again. Yep I'm with you. I also think that no matter what I have. Tremendous respect for John Robinson's team-building. Mike Variables Coaching Brian Tannehill. So this is a this. This run May I respected verbal Robinson before this but this is the way they've been able to go through the Patriots and the Ravens has been unbelievable and even if it ends this weekend I can't be mad at it. I guess it does and this weekend. We thought that last week to we're just GONNA keep picking I think probably does I just think that the chiefs are so hard to defend it under such that. There's a route for them to do this. I think it would have to be a really high scoring game and I just think chiefs win that sort of game this time around all right. Let's move on NFC championship game. I will be in Santa Clara for this. This is another rematch. natch two teams that played earlier. This year was a blowout though. niners absolutely destroyed the packers. Is there any reason you think this game will be different No Oh I don't I think that the niners will win this quite comfortably. I think that the packers the packers did a nice job by getting here. But I I think the one hundred fifty three of the niners have a better roster. They have little tiny advantages. Actually I did Hit with Tim Keller Calming earlier today and he asked him about this and he said said how the niners when this game and I said well actually it's not. I don't think it's going to be. There's GonNa be no shorthand for this game. It's going to be the George cadle game. The deebo Samuel game where the Jimmy Garoppolo game of the D. Four game it's just GonNa be the niners being a little bit better at everything. And that's sorta where I see this going. It's not the Vikings were the best team in the NFL against defending the tight end and The packers are not So I think there'll be a little more kiddle in the passing game or just kill destroying people in the running game again. I still think that you can get matchups against Kevin kings and maybe there's some some outside Receiving there as well I I just you know this is kind of. I don't know thirty. Two thirty two twenty kind of bill. I think they're going to have a hard time slowing down the niners because I think the Shanahan is excellent at understanding where he has to go with the ball. And that's Kevin King is exactly right. You Watch that. That last game they played they picked on him. They want him having to move on in breaking routes they wanna put him in space whether that was it was sanders. It was Samuel. On George Kills Long Touchdown Kevin King was the victim on that as well. It's actually funny. I was watching with both those games or watching these offenses this morning. The George cadle touchdown against the packers. This is very similar to the one that cleave Raymond scored against the Ravens last week essentially the same play with a different position in a different I formation these off their offenses are pretty similar. Me All these guys come from a similar tree when you think about the floor and then Arthur Arthur Smith because because obviously that was the floors offense last year and Shanahan so a lot of these plays look similar which is kind of interesting but I do think they're gonNA go after King. I think that Kit will had a monster game. I have no reason to think he won't again. I do think the the packers are gonNA need to keep up in this game. I think they'll have a better chance than they did last time because Brian blog did not play last week or last time and Nick Bosa had a huge game. Alex light was the backup right tackle in that game and Rogers just had absolutely no chance and absolutely no time so if they're offensive line can play a little bit better. I I think that's going to go a long way and the niners being able to move the ball. Yeah I mean that's the abuse me the packers. Yeah sorry. Are there any advantages for the packers in this game. Not especially. I think that it's when you're an underdog you need a couple of huge place to go your way. I think today are better offensive. Line the packers have a better offense and Van Than I do. But I don't know if there's a better all right I know what you're saying. There's no better offense than the niners. Defensive Line personnel allies. What's the edge? And I think the only jagged covers is that I would where would you. Here's the packers. Pass rush against against the forty niners. I think can be an advantage for them when I say you need a couple of games swinging place. I mean this is a scenario Smith's strip sack sort of game they're are going to need to dominate in small ways with the elite talented players that they have because they don't just a complete roster basis. There are not as good. So they're going to. I need the pass rush to make a couple of huge place. There need to turn over here and there and they're going to need Davante Adams to do some crazy stuff. I don't know if all that is possible. Yeah I mean it. That's exactly right it has to be Zaria. Smith gets in the backfield hits Jimmy Garoppolo and they score a touchdown and then it just steamrolls from there has to be something like that that it has to be almost the circumstances that got the Texans up twenty four points right where it's it's fumble in special teams. It's that kind of thing because again. I think there's a pretty good roster disparity between these two teams and I expect to go to the super bowl a yeah. I don't know I think that the again the like we talked about with the titans. Having a better plan from homes in the Texans probably would rather solids could have a much better plan for Davante Adams than Seattle did last week. They're not going to be playing man coverage coverage leading to Adams. Destroy them. The niners also don't play a ton of man coverage compared to other teams. It's heavy zone. I think they're going to do a lot of things about with Florida today. You know cloud coverage which is making sure that Davante Adams isn't the guy that beats up so we'll see what happens. I do think it's a hard road for the packers but I do think that they have a few guys as they can make plays absolutely can change entire game. Yep I'm with you score prediction I think like twenty four seventeen make accents twenty four seven. I think I think both games are going to be more. The one score wouldn't surprise me. It wouldn't surprise me off and just blew them up it really but I also think that we saw some flashes from the packers offense last week. WE'LL SEE I. The niners are a better team. But we've seen over the last few weeks being the better team doesn't always matter in these situations we have. I've seen that we've definitely seen that all right anything else. No that's all I got when you go in San Francisco tomorrow morning very early so I will be there for Shanahan and open locker room and all that stuff tomorrow phenomenal. I'll be enjoying Kansas City. "I'm Robert. mays joined as always by. Kevin kept doing good rapists weekend games. I I'm very ready for this weekend's game so I leave for San Francisco tomorrow morning on a Wednesday. I'm very much looking forward to both of these games. It's a great weekend football. I tend to enjoy divisional weekend. Better is because there are four games and you get it over two days but it's hard to beat championship Sunday especially when you get to go to one of them. They're my favorite football games to attend. Nfl Oh games because it's the last game of meeting and it has the most meeting where you're actually in someone's stadium. Also I I just while the Games are unfolding on thinking about how much it changes everybody's legacy even though it's so stupid for one game to change legacies that just sort of how this works from the narrative perspective. It's a narrow league and so of Mahomes and read wind during this game then. Everything changes for them. If Mike Variable winds it changes Mike Variables Narrative and Bill Belichick coaching. Everything for Mike Fable. If he wins that very true only say something that cutting thing has taken on a life of down. That's not he said he would if they won. He said he would do it if it ensured that they would so the two options are. He's already done it. And this is all playing out because of it or he just not GonNa do it. My favorite has made a deal with the devil or some other higher power to get a super bowl right. Could you imagine if that she found out that that was happening. And what do we do have two days all right so yeah I guess God yeah I really enjoy. I don't thank God who you talk to you for that kind of deal. It's probably true. I really enjoy just the drama of it. All and how much lives can change based on who wins and loses on on these two games on Sunday just thinking about the fact that these teams will be in the Super Bowl and you just think about what the super bowl is super weak and it just has so many implications. It's really gives you an entire two weeks to kind of sit and marinate on what it's going to mean for any of these guys if they can win one all right. We're going to start though not with the NFC champ in the championship games. We're going to start with some news that broke late last night. Lou keithly is retiring from the NFL. I read your piece about today. I thought it was spot on. Why don't you just walk me through kind of your initial thoughts after you heard the news? Yeah leuke clay is a hall of Famer. He is a guy who in an era where you're not supposed to dominate the middle of the field because of new athletes because of rule changes because of offensive schemes. He made life harder for offenses. and that's increasingly singley rare This was a fast era. He was in and he was as fast. As the era He led all linebackers interceptions in pass breakups in tackles Obviously he went against his era. And it was really interesting to watch He's the type of player. Bruce Feldman wants reported that Boston in college got him because recruiters didn't didn't like his look wore glasses and look nerdy and they didn't notice what a bad ass he was underneath. That look and he is one of the best defenders of his era full. Stop so now we bring in the retirement aspect of it. All this is a blow to the sport quite frankly clean. That's already lost Rob Gronkowski Andrew Luck in the last calendar year but from his perspective. This was the only decision to make had multiple recorded concussions. He didn't feel that he could play fast and physical as he would like and has he has for the past eight years and that's the heart of the matter is he played fast and physical as he he said and he thinks that you know that type of play and this is me talking is conducive to injury. And he couldn't keep doing it. I understand that the middle of the NFL field is the most dangerous place in in sports. I would say it's amazing to me. I've talked about this before four but in George Pumpkins Book Paper Lion He quotes Raymond Barre The great receiver. WHO said that in his career he went over the middle of the field? Just called the pit in the book look it was called the pit because of just how it was over in the middle of the field. He went in that area once in his entire hall of fame career once and now guys do it all the time and that means violence that means physicality that means huge hits and Lewke. was there the whole time and I think that that that takes a toll on any so from Luke kikuyus perspective. This was a decision to make No questioning it. He is the type of player famously. Didn't have cable for four years and uh-huh wanted to watch film famously was thrown out of the facility on Christmas Eve because you wanted to watch film. I try to personality thing on a couple of years ago in the same way. Done something for camera or Josh Norman or Greg Olsen on panthers and the more you talk to him the more you realized it was pretty much just football for him so this is a guy who's GonNa find a way to bring bring value to the game as a coach Fence Coordinator Front Office Guy Media whatever but this had to be the decision and I think you can only respect it. Yeah it makes sense. I mean he's a guy again. That may has made a lot of money. And I think it's it's hard to find sweeping trends when it comes to something like this you. I don't know if there's a lot to be taken away from the position or things like that because guys it of walked away of typically been guys that have made money. I mean these are guys that have cashed in their stars you know. It's Patrick Willis was a star. He made a ton of money. Navarro Bowman was a star Rob Gronkowski was star. And these are guys that had to grind away careers it. They had huge which paid as with their second contracts. And it's easier to walk away twenty eight when you've made sixty three million dollars. I don't know if we're going to see guys that are kind of mid mid-tier veterans veterans make choices like this because they didn't necessarily make life changing amounts of money in the way of these guys have Chris Borland Chris Borland stepped away after stepped away. That's a good one yes. He stepped away very early. I I also think that the one thing I would take away from it if we're trying to think of a big picture conversation here is position because we have seen a lot of linebackers. acker Stuart Bowman Willis Kikwete all different. By the way Bowman Willis was feet concussion. Bowman was a number of different things. So Oh I think that the the through line is they got hurt. It wasn't all the same injury now all but I do think physicality to that position. That's different from than most positions. Because you're having to hit offense lineman a lot in the run game things like that. You're taking on blocks and you're much smaller than them. You're taking a ton of punishment and the impact on some of these hits absolutely huge. I mean you watch the highlights yesterday of Leuke cleon just God with a four team just crushing guys. That probably takes a toll toll on you look. Equally is not a huge person. If you see you stand next to Luke keithly. It's incredible that he's one of the greatest football players the last decade. I remember being at a party in Houston Houston with leukemia during Super Bowl Week and he was there to like one. Am just playing bags drinking water and he looked like dude at the party. That's leuke cly was is he. Just a guy who happens to be incredible football for a lot of different reasons and it's not surprising that somebody with that constitution would not want to risk his long term health. And Not WanNa keep doing this. When it such a physical toll on you I remember purposely? Not Going at a party. I met you later to Mexican restaurant as trump was it later or earlier. It was later. I believe I believe you went. Let's not relitigate the Houston Super Bowl. But I believe you met me later. I I did see you at Mexican restaurant but I can't remember it was before or after the sounds like you weren't drinking water with Leuke Klay I can because I think it was the party pretty late so I'm not sure it could be eating after do you. Not Maybe you went early and then late. I think that may have been it interesting. I'm not sure that happened but I think it might have I. It's coming back to me it. It it's out of here nor there. Okay I will look equally the football players quickly. I remember talking to Al Holcomb a couple years ago. Who was the linebackers coach in Carolina? When he was there for a while and just talking about about the process of observing cheekily watch film and stuff he'd pick up on all those little things I can't remember and there have been linebackers that have been almost as good as Lewke clear as good as Lewke whether as well as somebody else bobby wagner yea bobby wagner is a fantastic player? They're different but I mean amazing but just watching rushing keithly observed the game figure out the game remember that play against Dallas. I think goes on Thanksgiving. where he just called out the play rape before it happened and then returned an interception for a touchdown? It's that kind of stuff. You hear so many stories about people that he would just call out the plays consistent before they happen and apparently he would just pick up on little tiny tics whether it was body language or formation. All of this stuff that other people just didn't understand. He solved the game in a way. Few defenders have whether. That's Ed Reed guys like that. That just clearly clearly see things on a completely different plane. That was keithly and I'm going to miss watching him. Play reminds me in basketball. It's much easier to understand what the other team was doing over Shane Batty a saying that he could run. Every team's offense if you wanted to on about an hour's notice right because you just sort of understand what other teams are doing in football. It's harder there. Are Guys understand. Exactly what he's at Is One of those guys who understands every single offense. There are probably less than fifteen guys who I think are elite elite at understanding understanding. What every single team wants to do at all times You know famously Sean. Lee is like that And I think Seattle has a handful of these guys But look equally is is in that category he was he just understood all the time what offenses wanted to do and he made them pain. He was fast and athletic enough but also he. He was made more fast athletic by the fact that he just had these instincts knew exactly what was going to happen on a given place so it was a total package package. She was incredible. And it's a blow for the sport that he will not be playing anymore. It's a blow of quite frankly for the panthers. You know he was still one of the top great linebackers by PF. This year wasn't like he was he was going downhill. It wasn't like kind of Andrew. Lock situation where he was. GonNa you know not be able to return the field at each chose to play. This was just he had too many concussions and he decided that he couldn't play the way he normally played and I think that that's A really interesting thing and I don't necessarily know if it's going to be a trend because again this is going to be a case by case thing but I think we're seeing guys. Make forty fifty sixty million dollars. Keith Willis made forty luck made a hundred and saying you know what did the second contract thing played eight years borderline canton and in some of these situations lock for Canton. Some of these situations and they'll take their money and go home. Yeah I definitely think that's part of it is just these guys that are stars and really cash in on that second. Do Joe as the cap exploded in this. All of that stuff so I think there are a lot of elements to consider here. I'm not sure how often it will happen. But it's definitely happening more often. So let's stay with Carolina very quickly weekly some coordinator news. The panthers hired Joe Brady which seemed like that was going to happen. Somebody who's going to take a run at him. Watch that national championship game. It's hard to see him not getting a job in the NFL. Is this interesting to you. Are you surprised that I totally agree. The the staff they're assembling. I think intrigues me..

"And unprecedented season at Lsu. The first heisman winning quarterback to win the National Championship in the playoff era six. It's games with at least five passing touchdowns most in a season and SEC. History Twenty seven passing touchdowns against the AP top ten teams entering this season the Lsu single-season passing touchdown record overall against all teams was twenty eight. I mentioned all those over the bureau because we couldn't all the accolades on this graphic sixty passing touchdown on this year new. So who's going to replace borough. Well we've seen just a little small sample size of miles Brennan. who was also a top player coming out? I think one of the best things to happen. Shopping Malls Brennan is that he didn't have to play a lot right away he was able to play a little bit as a freshmen redshirt. The next year he kind of has taken a similar path to Joe Borough where where he's in the mix but wasn't going to take the reins and now he's going to have the opportunity to be the other upperclassmen that wasn't thrown to the fire. He's got tremendous arm talent. He's really blossomed. Awesome physically over the course of the last two and a half years. And then you've got a young true freshman that's GONNA be coming in in Max Johnson. The son of former. NFL quarterback Brad. Johnson so I I think they've upgraded their talent pool. Trevor but until you see a guy take the field with the live bullets flying by and maybe some different people around him. You don't know what the offense is GonNa. It looks like right and there's the transport was well that might have been more guys to compete there in the last several years. Oklahoma has been the premier destination for transfer transfer quarterbacks. Oh borough elevated from a good game manager to Alzheimer of a college passer. I think this will become a premier destination as well and even though Joe Brady is leading for the NFL l.. Steve Asthma under offensive coordinator is still there. He's an experienced coach. That will know how to keep this thing going in if I'm a quarterback in the transfer portal I'm looking at Lsu you you get you get the feeling eddoes. But Trevor will ask you how goodwill this offense be next season it will be as good as the offensive line. I think at quarterback they'll have enough competition. There are to be good. That offensive line grew up in. That line is good then. Five guys can account for as many as seven potential essential rushers. Let's say you have a guard for example who has a linebacker over him. He'll set back. See if that linebacker comes. If he doesn't he'll go outside and see if that linebacker took a corner blitz and if both guards doing that you can account for seven blitzer. LSU Tigers: Top 5 team in the US?

"Want to ask you about a couple of schools that are ranked high and I know you've been to What's your what's your gauge which level of <hes> of expectation for L._S._U.? I think they should be one of the five best teams in the country. If you look at now that they don't have a perfect you know depth chart right now. They are big question marks on the offensive line at least at right tackle but I think the way Joe Borough finished I I think the arrival of Joe Brady from the saints as a passing and coordinator and the adjustments they've made their I think that fits everything well they should be you know really good even though they lose devon white who was a great player in the middle of the defense <hes> they're really talented in the secondary and I think they're pretty deep upfront upfront. <hes> they get caleb on chase on back. He was a player that the guys inside that program raved about until he got hurt last year. I think this is a a team that you know when I look at it. I think there's there's two games that I think will be real struggles for them. They have a game early on at Texas. Which is which is on the road and Tom? Herman has played exceedingly well. He's got his way exceeding well in that kind of environment where it's a heavyweight opponent and everything's right that seems like they are able to to rise up and play while the other one certainly is Alabama for a variety of reasons. They do not match up well I. I think I think quite honestly that L._S._U.. Team has been in its own head. <hes> you know how they can blow a good talented Georgia team completely louis out of the building the way they did beat them by twenty points and dominate them and then just look completely flat <hes> against Alabama they have gotta find a way to to kind of rally the way they do against a lot of other you know big opponents find a way to just really play a lot more free and and like like they do against other people against Alabama because unless they do that I think they may be a top five team but they're not going to be able to get to where they need to go and that's the play offs just because because <hes> you know because it just seems like that is something that they cannot mentally Concha talking to Bruce Feldman great to have him

College Football Predictions for the 2019-2020 Season

"Where do you see take this finish in this year in terms of our say like realize right now I would probably have them as a ten and two which <hes> you know may not please you but I think it's a good record yeah yeah? I've seen a lot of analysts say that takes US loses two games share. You know I don't i. I don't think that that's not realistic. I think very realistic no we could lose to L._S._U.. And Oklahoma it's very possible but here's the problem and and L._S._U.. is coming to seasons with a lot of height before to there. There are difficult team to to to gauge because last year. I think we were all wrong and maybe we're all wrong this time. They're a program that a little bit goes a long way. What I mean by that is <hes> all of a sudden you? The momentum changes the niche dramatic and it's it feels like maybe it's a little too much <hes> I think you'll hear some people probably say when you say who do you think's a little bit too high. Maybe it's L._S._U.. But <hes> I just liked what I saw two weeks ago when not when I when I saw the players in especially borough but hey that's a tough game to call because <hes> I do think Texas is extremely dangerous at home. I think the atmosphere there will be literally on fire and that that's that's sometimes hard to calculate a night game <hes> with with the whole world watching that's that's the biggest game of the day. There is an x factor there yeah I I completely understand what you're saying and have you heard of <hes> about L._S._U.. Supposedly changing their offense to spread R._P._O.. Offense yes <hes> I mean there's been a lot of talk about that with Joe Brady coming in from the saints now. I frankly think that story has been given too much attention. <hes> I want one coach is not going to change especially when you have when when you have somewhat of a stubborn coach doors Ron yeah you know Eto. I believe that he's a controlled. The clock type of Guy Keeps his decent off the field. I don't think that L._S._U.. Is going to have you know this explosive type offense you know. Also you know a new office coordinator and like you said a Guy Joe Brady Jake listen I mean I I'm close with a lot of l._S._U.. People and and they are a fan base that <hes> can often get way ahead of themselves and I mean just just think of every year the Alabama L._S._U.. Game All this is the year okay great is so high I mean it's a fan base that that I'm not saying that they think they're Alabama but they think they're on that level and they haven't done on that level really for a considerably longer time yeah
