Lessons Learned From The Iowa Caucuses, And Danger Signs Ahead
"I'm encouraging everyone to get out and give a separate the clapper Joe Biden I don't know the results and I with the I know we got rolled over last night he lost the lot he lost third fourth or fifth place we'll figure it out in the course of the day I'm joined by Byron York of the Washington examiner to talk about three things is state of the union tonight the impeachment acquittal tomorrow and the Iowa fiasco last like good morning Byron good morning June which order and were you up all night no I wasn't actually I actually I will I will tell you on our caucus story which is as you know there are a few journalists here in the morning and and all all of them were covering the democratic caucuses so I thought to myself I get here on Thursday in time to go to the president's rally it was clear the president I had a pretty large operation in Iowa and it was not because he was terrified of Joe Walsh or bill weld it was because he was trying to win the general election to get it in the bag while Democrats were still struggling to find their candidate now we didn't know how much how struggling they work so what I did was I went to a Republican caucus last night in Ames Iowa but forty minutes north of the mind and if they did this radical they voted once they counted the votes and I reported the results all my gosh you're kidding me and so it what was interesting you know AT and another thing I did years I I also went to a campaign event from Joe walls the former Republican congressman who is challenging the president does want to see how how this worked out and I don't know if you've seen the results but statewide from one ninety seven point one nine percent of the vote and walls one one point zero eight percent and bill weld on last year's governor one one point two seven percent so so Joe bill Burr Joe beat Bill Joe Walsh rebel our world no no no no bill weld bead Walsall world world up one point two seven percent to Walsh's one point zero eight percent that's got a first test for never come Republican challenges and it did not go well that's got a thing to lose to Bill well I'm sorry Joe Joe used to be on the Salem radio network and and it and so sorry Joe our condolences Byron let's talk a little bit about the hunter gatherer aspect of the trump campaign when it comes to data because I believe that's what the rallies are about I believe that with the caucuses were about the president's gathering that you attended on Tuesday night they are looking for the data they are and and they're also looking to make an impression the for people who might not remember in nineteen eighty four in February of nineteen eighty four Ronald Reagan as president he's headed to a huge reelection he certainly has no we nomination worries and he comes to the moment and that's the point in Waterloo used to rallies on caucus day when the Democrats are trying to choose their candidate and the Democrats are outraged the service is done it is not worthy of a president but Reagan did it and he really kind of took some of the oxygen out of the room for Democrats now Jeff Kaufmann who is the chairman of the Republican Party here and I was set back in June he told president trump about this and you know Mister president and Ronald Reagan did this in the end if growth Democrats not now I think other people probably recommend this as well but sure no problem was here and got in about seven to eight thousand people it great university and would that was far greater than any other Democrat in the event that any Democrat had plus trump brought a long list of circuits his his family cabinet members members of Congress Republican governors I was that the the caucus where Donald Trump junior spoke and they stepped up their social media and as you say they got all the information everybody came to the rally and then of course you have the information for value comes to the to the caucus and by the way they registered to vote a bunch of new people last night as well now they will move on I think yeah election effort but I think that circus will move on to New Hampshire even as the zombie campaign of Biden struggles forward the president tweeted thirty seven minutes ago by right New York the democratic caucus is an unmitigated disaster nothing works just like they ran the country remember the five billion dollars obamacare website that should have cost two percent of that the only person that can claim a very big victory in Iowa last night is quote trump close quote I don't think the president's going to allow this to pass I'm remarked upon all day long any may even bring up the state of the union Byron York I would think I would think and and by the way it it does appear that that vice president Biden did not do so well and I did go to his last event in here in deadline before the caucus and I will I will say though just a few things one the the questions about whether he has the vigor required for a long hard campaign those are really open questions that really he's not a high energy campaigner at this point he brought circuit like Chris Dodd and John Kerry which really gave the impression that he is a man of the past not really electrify anybody from the stage with use the most important thing was really interesting you spoke for more than twenty minutes and did not mention any of the Democrats most important issues no healthcare no climate change no gun violence no tops Isshin it was really extraordinary all he talked about without terrible crumple as any displayed no vision for the future beyond bringing things back to how they were when Joe Biden was in office so I you know I think a lot of Democrats look at that campaign is that this is just not working and when we do finally get results from last night we'll probably gonna see that the team by noon put out at five hours ago by bill Russo any campaign saying they wanted putting out in completing numbers is contributing to the chaos and misinformation they would like very much to move on before a fourth or fifth place finish is finalized I don't think they can escape that Byron but let's turn to impeachment I believe there will be an acquittal I don't know if it will be bipartisan do you have any reporting on that I don't I do not have any insight I I do know that efforts to try to censure the president I think you're completely doomed if you remember in nineteen ninety eight there were some Democrats in the Clinton impeachment nine nine or some Democrats who wanted to censure the president and not not impeach him but house Republicans went ahead and impeach the president of course they had a trial and a lot of Democrats who waited he's just been impeached and he had a trial that's a pretty big censure right there so I do not see any Republicans in the Republican supporting the center specially wanted strongly worded as Joe mentioned was circulating yesterday now I also want to make sure I get your reaction Byron I begin the program by saying lord bless and keep Rush Limbaugh I'm a prank I don't know if you are but he the ease the fellow who built the talk radio mall I just got a I'm a tenant like everyone else is I got Nordstrom in that

"Tree when go here junior hello out we have to go home yeah he was he was hurting all weekend on his couch all we can do on the throne of thing and I tried to fight it into a but did a lot of trouble I thought it was just like sick no no no no no he was in a mass mail out one fact that now well I don't know those a Petri dish in here so all we got about a year and a lot of travel coming up with the title game this weekend and then Super Bowl soon so if you get what I'm just start prepping for it's likely you're sitting in a seat so if anybody's going to get the part of it is J. said that went through him in the future I figure if you go to New Orleans and you hang out with Marcus spears awry Clark in Orleans which is my definitive goal while I'm there I figure you can wash my body clean of whatever ails it Terry about twenty four hours much of the seven normal junior to cleanse that's not figured as laws don't kill a lot of germs and I'd probably say that might well I don't think you could do there so I as we are waking up this Monday morning and coming to work what do you think the overall senses of all those patriot nation fans who have seen the greatest run in the history of the NFL bar none is not even close don't at me with your nineteen forty seven whoever's it's just not what where are they in the realization of wow what happens now what do think they are a delusional still lost in that not accepting you know I I I you'll appreciate this is an NFL historian tray I went to a game it old FoxPro when I was a kid and it was amazing it was like these terrible bleachers Golden stadium there was nobody in there you walked in I mean it was just the the peak of awful patriot dumb and if you walk through the just there was nobody there no interest and nobody cared we forget that there was an error of that for the patriots I mean the thought of having to live like the rest of the league lives where you don't know exactly what your future is a quarterback and you're not sure what you're gonna do it coats these are things that the pages haven't had to deal with in generations so I you know I I don't think it's going to set in until there's a day where Tom Brady's not quarterback and right now he technically isn't the quarterback his contract has expired with the playoff loss but but I think he will because again I'll ask where you're going to go he would still be an above average quarterback right yes or more no question get him more help around because at forty two it's just the way it works man I mean you you get older you're not as good so get more help around you get more help around him I think he's still a better alternative than as as we always say where else you gonna go now well and and Brady and Brady and Belichick come back together even if they don't like you said to me this is a married couple that's too far gone at this point they can't really split up they can't find their own legs they're just going to be who they are with each other if they come back together and they don't even like each other next year they'll still be the favorite the AFC east call well yes although that may be changing with the way things are going in buffalo and that they're they're obviously going to be a much more difficult team my name is going to be better my name is going to be better look here's the deal all I all I can think of is the I th the bread crumbs have been going on this for a while Adam Schefter reported in September was in October that he thought it might be the last season and Adam Adam is not a hot taker no it's not on the you know what I'm gonna say I'm gonna say this and then of course he said he's he put his house on the market I don't think it's so he slash the price like thirty so it's a bargain if you want to get this thing now they bought a house and leave Greenwich Connecticut which I always say is a great place to live so you have Josh McDaniels deciding to leave bill Belichick tried to part ways a few years ago now Peter king's column this morning you should read because basically craft is saying okay Tom's earned the right to do what he wants we hope that he comes back so for really being honest about this we're setting up for another clash between what bill Belichick once on the football side and what Robert Kraft in his emotions one on the side one it was absolutely Robert Kraft I mean there's no class to me Joe bill can want that again Robert Kraft is going to let Tom Brady decide if Tom Brady wants to come back come back and bill Belichick will coach the patriots in my opinion so that leads us to actually more fascinating discussion because bill had to eat it once so what's more likely that craft forces Brady to come back so Brady comes back and bill says yeah I know I'm done I'm moving on some more else I think I can win wherever I go I mean that to me is very fast if Robert Kraft wants to look at bill Belichick and say Hey Brady is earned the right to decide his fate can Bella check not look at Robert Kraft and say have I not earned the right to pick my quarterback I mean from from accomplishment standpoint they can both stand on the laws of over my right to trace point one says that Bella check doesn't walk Josh McDaniels becomes the head coach of the New England Patriots Brady sticks around but they your right about they both have their resume but we've already seen it happen you once it's all double check lose that battle and then this all say this where is Bill gonna go to have a better shot so you're I don't believe bill is going to leave on a pride thing to go somewhere else and not have the best shot to put himself in two immiscible does his love and this is not my I'll I'll give this credit the credit to this to Devin who works on our show who is a massive giants fan Devin is convinced that the love the bill Belichick has for the giants organization which is still very open about is going to lead him back to the giant you don't allow for winning what sixty is it is a slightly younger than Pete Carroll writers you'll not I'm not saying he's only got a couple more years one of these going anywhere for awhile the giants we we say there near some does right about now we're ready to do that I'm just throwing it out there I don't think that's crazy I do okay I don't think that's crazy there's no doubt the passion and love he would have been the giants head coach had bill not bill Parcells not suddenly retired and they had to go to raise him because he left to go somewhere else go to Cleveland it's not insane I just I'm just curious to see how this meeting because eventually there's going to have to be a meeting a phone call and email exchange a discussion some way shape and form between the crafts and bill Belichick M. O. to be a fly on that wall you have a hidden recording for say of that conversation would be fascinating I might do you ever feel because you're right we've seen how this played out once right but if you've got tremendous ego and always conscious I don't use eagles a bad we're not we've had tremendous accomplishment you're allowed to have tremendous confidence in what you've done so if your bill Belichick and you have this ego and you already had to swallow your pride once the second time it comes back to kick you in the know know places again you just look around and take I got options and you know and some point Robert Crandall sentence as well I got I got your heir apparent the building I don't have another quarterback and two options and there's good options okay what's he used to doing he's used to winning so all say again why would you go put himself in a position to not be in the position he is with the patriots I and I think you're right about that because ultimately like I said earlier this just smacks of a very well established couple that doesn't love each other anymore but they stay married because ultimately Hey you know what it's working for the relationship they're both getting what they want out of it ultimately the both winning and if they split up they've got to start over neither of them wants to do that that's what it's it reeks of to me but if there's a level where he's just wanted to do a four years ago so I mean to me I think bill is okay with that I do you see okay with walking away yeah because he didn't four years ago well that's because I do the way you thought he had a little bit won two super bowls since then I mean but if if your bill you're not looking this to me god knows I'm not trying to get in his mind but to me the way I would interpret this of your bill I don't look at okay where am I going to win next year one of my going where I think I have what I need around me to potentially be successful right but what I answer interesting that the giants are no where near the building where trade what patriots how far they could get hold on all this is predicated on the there's a conflict that bill and across cannot work right all of this with predicated on that on that it's like it was last time correct all this we predicated on that leave they have a quarterback that a generational running back they had Darius Slade they have to have an in ground they have the other wide receiver sterling Shepard I I think there are things that the bill would find intriguing I have no idea what's going to happen I have no if it's going to happen but honestly if Robert Kraft is basically saying Tom can do whatever you want yeah to me if one of the other's gonna leave it seems maybe but more likely the bill would leave the ready when I I I I would agree with that premise yes that said I don't think either one of can I just turn the parliament is Jerry even call I mean just call back call me bridge area in he calls bill says you can take of everything you get the roster you get complete creative control this and that's that almost happened once okay double check what's actually very close to being the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys when he was out of work he ran into Jerry Jones after Cleveland at us I think it veil of all places and he basically said if you ever have an opening love to work for you that that did happen that is part of the whole thing Trey let me recklessly speculated when I want I love bill instead and and Jerry together I just want to watch it one once you get start up it's it's all fascinating so the patriots could have some breaking moves this offseason break moves is brought you by link then build your winning team today go to linkedin dot com slash sports so we're talking about a.

No. I'm just basically. Yeah. The veteran had several. Episode of hypertensive breathe while service and Sarah during the it was clearly manifest after during the first post service year. Oh. I'd agree. I didn't. Down my life. I granted that. Working contest. Yeah. Well, they, you know, the the court was asked about that very thing in a. Still there. Hello. Halo. We lost him. I of one day. Oh, yeah. The. We'd ban that. Getting motor new website jer. Well, let's see if we think. Bail. Give us a call back. You show still it dropped. It drops Caldbeck week. Just finishing say they said, they're not going to retroactive because he didn't cooperate didn't tell us base and places and the court said, wait a minute. When you when you gotta service records. You know, you had some records, and it told you what unity was in. And where the unit was. And when he was there. So you can look them up anytime you wanted to and so they order him to go back retroactively to the earlier claim. It's that one. Yes. The core. Come. Visit. You. Yeah. I mean, it's. You have studied over stuff over years, you know, being an advocate working with a lot of veterans and stuff. But it's like, you know, listening to somebody your knowledge about this whole system bills breaking per share because you get a lot of people think they know the system, and we'll tell you there's a couple of folks out there, we talked to that may have forgotten more people ever learn. So I mean, really good. Yeah. Some rules on revisions of this vision that are unfavorable, you know, they have to be done by certain level of expertise decision review on or what have you and or they must be signed off on by the service manager. Or designate most often I've seen sort of center managers delegate that. Or in a given case when they're presented with a severance or reduction, they'll turn to the review officer that they know and they'll ask them. Fine. Joe school serve. I say I had some center managers come to me and their leadership management teams. Come to me and say this look like to you. No. Do this. It was a long time too long. How's the straight? Joe bill. "Last year at the masters because we have Joe Bill coming on. We're going to walk through all these inches. And I know during the conversation, I started to get very hungry. But also, I said that I was missing out on all the sandwich hacks that were going to be available this this year. So the best thing I ate this week. We're going to go back a year. What was the number one thing? We're gonna start with you. And then I'll share couple of my observations, let's hear your number one food item from all of our culinary experiences down in Gusta Georgia last year. I'll man it sucks because I know my top three, and I don't know what order they're in. But this top three then it's our. Show, buddy. We could do show. What am I saying? Yes. So it was definitely the egg salad. Definitely the Ponente cheese. And I think the classic chicken. They're only reason I had to put both of those the first two in there the exiled in the the Pimento because I had so many of them. Because they're they're everywhere in that like really could not believe that they were like a dollar fifty or two dollars. Because I think it's like Augusta National it's impossible to get into. It's like really tough to get tickets for the masters, and then you walk into this amazing place, and there's like four dollar beers that I love all the beers. And these sandwiches are like you can get them. I don't I know. don't know by by like in five even so it was I don't even know what we we walked out with the with the whole bagful because we wanted to take them back to the house and have a true taste test. But I'm surprised in that listing by the mission of one thing, but I'll come back to that year. A true Yankee year from upstate New York. Have you had a lot of exiled or mental cheese in your life? Not that was the first time ever happen mental cheese. And I heard you talking I was thinking producing a shack house way back, and I heard you talking to Geoff Shackelford about it. And I think he was going to the masters like two years ago, and you weren't and you guys were talking about mental cheese. So I was wait. I was mission in mind that when I got there like I'm gonna see what this is about. And boy, I found out. It's it's it's kind of a rich thing it's a little bit of an acquired taste some people claim that it's overrated, but you have to have the first time that you go in experience the masters. It's you know, it's just putting a dot on the I it's just crossing the t right one hundred percent. And when I came, but since I came back, I've got mental cheese spread and like try to put it on some bread. And it doesn't even come close. Now, you can't do this is one of the things that we recommend to all the taste buds hungry homeys this week feel free. There are plenty of recipes out there, if you get a hankering you're not in Augusta, but you want to celebrate the masters go head and make yourself version of a Ponente cheese sandwich. Reversion of the of the eggs, Sal. That's fine. They're not going to be a perfect replica. But if you just want to get in the spirit, we encourage that the omission that you left out from your three culinary choices. There you did not include the Georgia peach ice cream sandwich. So I think I missed that out until we got back to the house. Yeah, you're right. When we got back with rapid and Bill, and you and I think that's when we got. That huge garbage bag full of food that we carried through through the through the course and try to raise home before everything turned. But yeah, I think I got like half one of those, and I didn't wanna bring it up because I was it was sad. I didn't. I don't I don't think I had tickets to the Wednesday or the or whatever day it was to the actual tournament rounds. And I didn't get a chance to go back. But I I had like half a one. Yeah. It was it was incredible. And it's just it's kinda oh, I see. So it's just a painful memory. That's why it's not your top three. It brings up a painful missing out experience. Okay. I understand that. That's that's that's reasonable. So my by signal best thing, and I feel we we had a couple of great conversations this week on fairway rolling. And then on today's house of cards with folks.

This is a shame in secret survey filled out by a woman who calls herself, totally talented. Nobody she straight in her. Fifties was raised in a pretty dysfunctional environment. She writes, twin sister developed bipolar at age sixteen yearly hospitalizations followed now, she was the victim of sexual abuse. Never reported. It was a virgin rape. I was a virgin rape victim at age seventeen by thirty year old stranger Vietnam vet in the daytime I became pregnant after the rape. And went by myself to have an abortion never told my parents, I dissociate it from the experience and began a career of successfully creating new MEAs. She's also been physically and emotionally abused for four years. My father ritualistically marched, my well behaved three year old twin sister, and I to the garage and asked us to bend over to get hit with the stick to pre punish us in case. We did anything bad while he was gone at work for three days. He was a decorated fire chief in the Bronx. He pulled me out of bed during a nap to beat me on my seventh birthday among other things. I felt hatred. Shame and heartbroken. Any positive experiences? I completely forgave. The man when I got married in needed him to walk me down the aisle and thereafter, be a grandfather to my son. He worshiped to my son, darkest thoughts. I think about a society that allows anyone over age sixty healthier not to have the freedom to decide to die in a controlled peaceful setting. A we don't deserve the same rights as dogs. What are your deepest darkest secrets? I led a criminal have sex with me, I had sex with my girlfriend's brother right after the rape. And we'll never know which fetus I aboard. It. And that is heavy. Sexual fantasies most powerful to you know, at this time are used to fantasize about a boyfriend having sex with men, I don't feel much about it. No guilt is I never engaged myself in anything, then I'm ashamed of what if anything would you like to say to someone that you haven't been able to. I had an exciting successful life before I met you. But if I start to tell you the good stuff, I may slip until you the forbidden secrets of abuse that most people in this town, never experienced. What if anything you wish for peace contentment, true, easy, friendships? No, more internal or external conflict..

"No it was classic gum leaky green gooey. Dick, Paul which is going to be my next dog's name. And then it was like, then I went, and I I told faith, and I like just fucking sobbed and. And it was all very out of body. And she was like she just held on to me and said, it's fine. Well. She was shot. We'll just we'll just go get, and I was just as a fucking mess and even even to this day. I mean, we've known each other a long time, and she's, you know, her own awesome success story. But she's just like she's like you fucking just cried like a baby I'd never seen anything like it. And I didn't really remember. I thought I kind of tearfully let her know. But apparently, it was far more dramatic than that state is a sweet sweet soul and the composer of the music for the transparent movie, which is going to end the fucking transparent. Oh, really for those of you. Don't know Jill salloway is faiths sister. Yeah. And so so that was so that's just been I've held onto that. And it's and it's all the guys don't get raped women can't rape guys. And I told my my therapist is like I can't say rape. I have to say sexually assaulted because rape doesn't sound true. And and I said I said. I said I don't want to. I don't want to. I don't want to appropriate rape away from women. Like what the fuck are. You thinking dude, it's like men don't get raped by women. And all I wanted to do was just get it over and forgive the person who did that to me because she had her own fucking problems. And and it was like, I was sure that it had to be my fault. I fucking passed out drunk. You know, maybe my dick was already hard. Maybe that's what a great drunk guy was. But you know, this is let me part of the reason I'm here is just to say, no guys get raped, and it's it feels very vulnerable and nervous to say it. But Paul you're the guy it is a very poor selling t shirt. I don't I haven't even seen it advertise. Yes. Yes. I appreciate you. Sharon that. And I did not know the extent of that. And no you shared something in an Email with me earlier. But as sharper show, pretty much every other Email, I receive is somebody sharing something about a sexual assault. Moore suicide attempt so sometimes it can be hard to remember the things. And I know I did not know the extent of of that. And. A lot of people think that sexual assault has to be for it to be valid. It has to be a a way of well who should win a physical struggle. When it has nothing. With that. That guy that toxic male shit were if like a wolf a woman teacher has sex with a guy. Hey that kid is lucky right? Like, that's that was cool in the nineties, right or something. But it's that thing where like I have to fucking tell this story believing that there's we, you know, as much as anybody stories are fucking everywhere. And it's an my brother my brother said that secrets make up the buffet that shame feeds upon every day. Such a great thing. It's so fucking great. And so I don't I don't want to die. Not having said this happened to me, and it's informed. My relationships with women. It's informed. Can you can you share? How I think it's I think it is. I need the attention of women that I didn't get from my mom, and I I'm a person who have been compulsively drawn to bipolar women. And it seems the other side of that coin is bipolar women who have hypercritical mother and emotionally distant father have seen this big guy as the solution to all their daddy issues..

"Because Brian's the one that I talked to. And for me was being the oldest of five. And I mean having kids right in a row. I think my guess is my mom had her nervous breakdown in front of me after she miscarried in between child number four child number five. And then she got pregnant with my youngest, brother. And but I think that that makes sense getting pregnant is a Catholic way of walking it off. I think that's it's rubbing dirt on it. Walk it off. It's so. This is so beautiful doc down real. Joe's Joseph demeaning, Email that I guess I was too ugly for my mom to molest. That's the kind of humor that that. Joe? When I bond over is sometimes it just it helps to be able to to laugh about it as long as that's not the only way that you're dealing with it. That's right. And it's two of my friends annoyance friends after I felt I found all this stuff out. I told them and they both said versions of I'm so sorry, you were too ugly for your mother molest. And it's just that thing where that lets me feel the other stuff keeps me in dissociation. But it's the humor that makes me feel like oh God. That's horribly hilarious and terrible. And now, I can feel my siblings pain. And that's my therapist is just trying to help me feel stuff. And feel pain and feel sadness and before I came out here. A couple of weeks ago. I think the I figured out my fear was that if I feel anything that I'm gonna have a nervous breakdown like my mom, and she said, so you're afraid I'm like, I'm not afraid. It's my dad, I'm not afraid anything for aid. But it's, but I said, it's like, yeah, I'm afraid if I feel too much sadness, or if I feel what I'm afraid of as what I witnessed when I was five if I if I let that door crack open, I'm gonna lose my to be a tidal wave behind it. Yeah. Yeah. And it's. You know? And maybe I maybe I'll fucking maybe I'll have an Everest breakdown who who knows. Or maybe I won't or I mean, it just feels extremely vulnerable. But it's also like I'm diving into all this stuff. Because if I'm going to be a good father for my daughter who's thirteen now. And my other daughter who's five and in another country like I have to get in touch and feel this shit. And if I'm going to ever be with anybody in any meaningful way, this what by not getting a touch with it. I'm giving somebody ninety percent of a person on good days. Yeah. And so I can't like I can't hide. There's just too much too much. I'm ashamed of too much. I'm afraid of too much. You know, you always say I came in here saying the same thing. So many people say it's like, well, you know, my shits not bad enough. If you get some like, man, I'm just here to wine and get attention and poor fucking baby. But that the Cussing that's a poor fucking baby. That's all my dad's words for that part of me that like hurts and needs love and. And it's you know, there's there's reasons why I have duo partners in in improv world that are women because when I go on stage, I can feel everything for an hour, and we do a play and we play together, and I'm open to love and being loved..

"I don't belong in whatever. This Catholic thing is. And then I learned it's like hypocrisy. It's like, oh, these people are all one way after church, but then during the week there's this giant act that's going on. Yeah. That that was my experience not with everybody. There were certainly people that walk the walk and I had. Knowns for teachers who were really beautiful gentle souls bought you would the parish where I was raised. You would hear people using the N word within hours of church leading out. And and there was also an anger underneath it, which I find with a lot of cultures that are tradition base that kind of tell you family, no matter what. And I think you think there's something there about suppressing the things that you want to say to people close to you that it comes out in other sick ways. I think so I mean, it's there's we were certainly raised with the threat of violence should things. Go wrong. That was not my case. But yeah, yeah. My case. And and I think there was anger. But there was like this robotics. Sense of duty. And it was also very I think what you know, what we're calling now it was a toxic masculine type of Catholicism where men were supposed to be a certain way. And we're you win everything is about winning. And it's. I remember I remember just resenting so much that because I took the number one ask kicking of everybody. My dad beat the shit out of me one time in front of the whole family, and then not as extensively again after that. But here's this. You know, a family your show, and you hear people say, well, it was only at one time, and he was just having a bad day. And my therapist says, can you imagine you doing that to your daughter, and then I cry and go no and have to say many things can be true at the same time. And my dad beat the shit out of me when I got suspended from the football team for laughing at the football coach and the way that I dealt with that was to participate in my own abuse. I've heard a couple of your people talk about that where I'm like, okay. I'm about to get the shit beat out of me. So let's pretend like this is professional wrestling. And I'm gonna take the punches I'm gonna take the hits. If he lifts me up. My hair..

"It's the worst news, you can get, but the really cool part. And this kind of ties into the show. The really cool part was my friend, Colin. He's a support group, buddy. He drove up, and we hung out. He brought a guitar, and we just had finding on the very last day that we were there the. Weather broke enough that we could go out snowboarding, and we had so much so much fun. It was it was all worth it the three days of being inside. And we had fun at night. We went bowling, and we played video games. And we were just jackasses. You know, he got chains for for his truck. And we were doing it like one in the morning, we're doing doughnuts and an empty parking lot. And little did. We know he actually broke one of the chains on his tires within we're driving around with one tire chain, but we just made fun of everything and didn't take it too seriously. And you know, the nice part about being in recovery is. We tend to look for the positive parts of things in not focus on the negative, and we both just appreciated that that one day that we had a when the other thing was the gondola which you have to take down from where we were staying you couldn't ski down. I don't know how to explain it. But you had to take your your snowboard off. And then get on a gun to take that down to where we were staying and on this last day, it was still blowing pretty hard. The winds were probably blowing, you know, maybe forty miles an hour the Gondolo froze. And so they said, okay, we're going to just have to bus people down the mountain and the line was like a hundred people long to get on this bus which was coming like what once every twenty minutes. We were just like it's just going to be hours of sitting. Just standing out in this blistering wind and some guy said to us, you know, you can ski down the street to get home. If you want to little dicey. But you can probably do it. And that's exactly what we did. And it was so it was so it was a little dangerous. But it was when we finally got to the place that we were staying. We just laughed we just laughed and and high five, and it was just. In fact, he's a guy that I want to have on the on the show. I think you guys would really like him. Anyway, it was awesome. It was really awesome. And the other cool part? Is that somehow I got on an earlier schedule than I am. Now it hearing to at least for now. And it's given me the energy to start going back to the gym. And. I've just feeling really good. And it all started with me. Sitting on my computer the other night looking at all this weather coming in to the mountains and saying God, I would love to get up there and ski some fresh snow or snowboard. And then saying why the fuck not? Just go up for like two days and have fun. It doesn't matter if nobody can come with you just go do it you need to get back into nature because I could feel myself just kind of getting into a funk in part of the work that I've done at being in support groups is to learn to be spontaneous. Or at least more spontaneous. And to practice self care do nice things for yourself. And so I did just on a moment's notice. And within twenty four hours, I was up in her getting to wins. But enjoying myself because I felt like it was inactive self care and self love and it was spontaneous. And I don't think it's any coincidence that I'm reaping the benefits now of being on an earlier schedule getting to spend more time with my girlfriend Cristina when she stays over on the weekend because she's on the super earliest schedule, and I don't know just the universe has a way of helping us when we do. Nice things for ourselves and for other people..

"I think by and large is safe. Break about this between twenty fourteen twenty eighteen Uber alone reported two point four billion trips. So a lot of us use it every week. We like it it, you know, it's convenient it's fast. But like anything else Leland's there, you know, bad people sometimes get into these kind of kind of job. So think about the following. This is really more about awareness. And it is anything else. You know, when you order up from Uber less chilling the blank. You know, you get a picture of the driver his or her name car description and a tag number make sure it matches when they show up. Make sure that Joe Bill Susie is really the person that you had ordered for starters. The other is the distorted keep your awareness about, you know, we tend to get hung up on phones, and I had in know books on tape, etc. And we don't want to stay in touch with our immediate environment. You know, if something doesn't feel right about this car, then get out of it. But I'll tell you sometimes the biggest problem with these services is women alone. Maybe having a little too much to drink and getting into these vehicles by themselves at night. Right. Right. And you know, I in terrific. They're not trying to drive and drive. But if you're gonna do that the recommendation is have somebody else in the car and for sure never sit in the front seat. Yeah. And that's a that's a that's a big no-no. So, you know, some things to consider over has added to to their AP apparently a thing called the rideshare trip. In other words, you can set up by people who can actually watch the route that you're going, I suppose double check you are going where you've asked to be taken right in the left has a version of tax so really sort of. Being aware staying in touch, and you know, you can't do the customer. Can't do anything about the background of the drivers lift both claim they're doing more enhanced background. But I'm I'm.
