"Process would alone and put your life rocket can well certainty. Don't know if the Los Angeles Clippers have any certainty. We know for certain that they come from behind in their first two series in this year's playoff run, but this might be a slightly deeper hold. That they've got to dig out up to talk about. These sons in the Clippers is a guy who covers the entire NBA, uh, for the L a times out there in La la Land, Brad Turner good enough to hop aboard for a couple of minutes. Brad Jodi McKay, How you doing tonight? Cannot complain at all, except that well, I'll complain it's hot here in Phoenix. It is hot in Phoenix. I repeat myself, but, hey, I knew it would be hard here, But things are things are hot. Hotter in Phoenix in L. A huh? Hop down the big old jet plane and said, Okay, this This is a you don't you don't buy into that. It's a dry heat stuff. Man. It feels like it's an oppressive heat. Mexican never going to go away and it's going to follow me back to l A. I hope that at least I hope you go back to l A. With a game to cover. We shall see about that. Um, but before we get the game number five that you're in Phoenix for Um, Game four last night. The 3.5 minutes from like the 10 10 mark to the 6 30 mark of the fourth quarter when the two teams combined for exactly zero points, three plus minutes zero points. Was that offensive ineptitude or tremendous defense on both teams parts man. I'm going to say it was a combination of both. Mixed in with the anticipation of a game that the more both teams missed. The more they got tense and tight, each one East team the Clippers. The Sun's trying maybe a little bit too hard to get that basket. And then you just running down the court and nothing was working. I mean, Chris Paul is going to his favorite spot mid range. Two point pull ups can't make a shot. Paul George is getting to the basket can't make a shot. I mean, it was amazing to watch and you can feel the intensity in the building. You could feel how they were just struggling and you watch this. You just kept wondering when is someone going to screw up basket? Is it going to happen before? The sun goes all the way down to the moon comes off the kid. Yes. So, uh, it was some ugly basketball. But the sudden, uh, weather the storm and walked away with a victory. You mentioned Paul George and his inability to score during that time didn't have a great game has been truly up and down since quite Leonard has gone out here. A lot of peak and valley performances in production out of Paul George. The Clippers just have to accept that. That's the fact that he could be great and he helped. We win a game. But he can also have games in moments where he just kind of disappears more than anything else. Is that what Paul Georges Well, he's proven that is the case with him. As you said, inconsistent up and down great. Okay, bad. I mean, he just has the he has his watch the road. Playing basketball. It appears to be that he Can't see the always put it together. The big moments we've done that. I thought he was really good at Game three didn't shoot the bar very well, but he was consistently attacking. I had to give him credit because he played No 40 some minutes in Game two that they want. It played 43 minutes again last night, but let's take their total when you as well but missing the two ft rolls. In Game two. Yes, they still had a chance to win the game. But if it makes those two free throws, then I think they do the game and prior to those two ft throws Hold joint was great in the fourth quarter. I think he has scored eight straight points. The ball was in his hands all the time. He was smooth. It was decisive. So you start thinking now apologize to Clippers want to see All still of that the guy that can deliver just for them. Then, instead of closing the books On that great game for him. In the fourth quarter, he missed the two FT throws. Open the door for sun by the side to steal the game. That's apologize that we have seen all postseason. No. And he is where he is at this 20.1 guy who isn't what he has been. In a series has been DeAndre Ayton. He has upped his game. Um he's gotten the better of Dubai altogether too often for the Clippers liking. This is where the Clippers mitts surge Ibaka who could give him a couple of minutes? In the middle and maybe keep hating someone in check. They don't really have another option at this stage, do they? The Clippers have a smaller lineup they could go with or do they just believe if we go to small, DeAndre Ayton eight, beating our one legit center in too much? If we do triangle smaller, it could even get uglier. There have been times equipment have tried to use DeMarcus cousins. But that hasn't worked either. And the market has mostly been used as a second street center. When so when they use Derek storage out there So whether they go they just turn to zoo was playing some 40 minutes a game because he gives him the best option. When the kids have going small against the Phoenix phone. It just hasn't worked, because unlike wouldn't go bear. Who was the what? Three Times Defensive player of the year. He is a rim protected. He's that mobile. Whereas you have you know, Agent who's At seven FT. Tall 6 11. Runs all over the court. He's mobile can step out on the three point shooters. He can.

DeAndre Ayton Brad Turner Chris Paul Brad Jodi McKay Phoenix Paul George 43 minutes Clippers Los Angeles Clippers Paul Georges two teams 3.5 minutes DeMarcus zero points 10 tonight Leonard two free throws Ibaka 40 minutes

"When you need an expert top, navigate the home loan process. Rocket cat. All right, Speaking of navigating a process that's one of the things Going to talk about with our next guest. Yeah, we'll talk about some stuff on the field, and this will have an effect on the field. But it'll be judgment by those not playing the game. A k A. D Umpires are Major league baseball. He knows what I'm talking about. We're going to get into it. With Bob Nightengale Lead at LB, MLB columnist for USA Today and Oddity. MLB Insider. Bobby Jodi McKay, How you doing? But Yeah. Doing great, Johnny. Thanks. I appreciate you coming on board. Yes, all the talk about Major League Baseball is up foreign substances. It used to be steroids. Now it's rising mixed with sticker mixed with spiders stuff. It's a major mess that made your league baseball is dealing with. Um and it will be implemented this upcoming week there will actually start to be penalties. What we talk about the penalties and the like as we get to a point where the umpire is really aren't even cracking down yet. How would you suggest Major League Baseball has handled this news controversy to this point? Well, I think Major league baseball you know in, you know, back in March, they told the pictures, almost a warning. We're gonna be confident, said concerts. King Baseball's We're going away. Uh, look at video. Look, it spin rates. And, uh, you know, we'll see if we have to take action. So in the mountain the last two months and it was out of control and the guys were cheating, right left every single team. Was cheating at some at some point, at least at least one picture and every team, if not a lot more. And you know, as you saw the offenses were abysmal, you know, 2 32 batting average. They're striking out like Nolan Ryan was on the mountain. Every single game so they had They had to do something. You know they they they probably sit back now and second guess themselves. Say she's done it from the get go. So they said, You know what? You know You guys had your chance. No pine tar, no sunscreen. You use a rising bad, but you know, rising back on the mound, and that's it. And that is what they're going to crack down, too. But you're right in that they gave them a warning in the season. And it took him 50 games basically, before they reacted if they knew that there was the possibility that there were multiple guys on teams cheating Did that It was that they need a big enough sample size of struggling offensive teams before they decided to act. Why do you think it took them so long to get to a point where, as of next week and again dragged their feet for the last two weeks? Why do you think it took him so long to actually take action? Well, they didn't want to. Just wait a little bit like, okay. It was called Is the cold weather thing? Well, hitters adjust. Uh, you know, we get some more warnings. What pictures? Adjust And nothing was changing. It was just getting worse and worse. So I think baseball says enough enough. I mean, we just a you know, the strikeout record general coming is like they were meaningless. Guys are striking out 10 15 and night. You know, Like I said, everybody was, You know, no one right on the mountain. It just became a joke. It was a lot like the, uh, thorough it era you know, back in the back in the day when you know we're kind of shrug your shoulders and guys were hitting 50 or 60 home runs. Same thing now that are striking out 10 or 15 and throwing no hitters. We stopped caring The difference between a steroid are and what they're doing now is you couldn't catch the steroid cheats because there was no drug testing baseball could have caught. These individuals were taking some kind of substance out onto the mound when they went out there, and they must have become very skilled at being able to hide it. But I don't know if the umpires just looked the other way. But This certainly could have been stopped earlier. I want to ask you about Tyler Glass. Now. Now I feel bad for the young men held season. He's a great pitcher for the Tampa Ray's, uh, he's got a torn ulnar just did that this week. They haven't said. He's necessarily going to have surgery. Tommy John, they're hoping for rehab and healing. But when you tear your own the most times, it means Tommy John surgery, which means the season probably over to go all the way Internet here, So he has my sympathies for that. He'll get none for his stance that he believed he injured his elbow because he stopped Keating. He readily admitted to cheating and said when the warnings came down, I've been learning to pitch without my cheating substances. And he believes that's now why he got hurt. Has he got any leg to stand on? No, he doesn't. I'm with you, Jody. I mean, you know, so you're blatantly cheating. And no, you're not. You blame that. You're not gonna blow out your elbow and this guy's 67 for her miles an hour. He's been injury prone in the past. So it was just one of those things. It's easy excuse, but you know that that's you know, that's not the reason you know it's almost like now you hear these pictures saying well, We used this stuff to get a better grip on the ball because we don't want to hit hitters. Well, you know what? You're hitting hitters and the record pace, So it's not working. You know, since these guys been warned that, Hey, we're gonna start cracking down. Hit by pitch raised exact same so and nothing do with the grip was all about cheating. I agree with you there. Alright. Another question on this. When we were in the steroid era, and people believe that players were taking it specifically batters to be able to hit the ball, fire there and just drive it with more power. Um, there was also the belief that it helped with recovery and then therefore you could do more lifting and it might help you out with injuries, which meant that people believe that. Yeah, maybe pitches were believing it, too. We all know about Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte. So there were pictures that used it as well, but it seemed like it gave more help to the batters. In this case, it doesn't do anything for the batters. The batteries are at a disadvantage because the pictures are getting such an advantage. Why didn't more batteries complain? Why didn't batters dropped dime on guys that they thought were actually using substances and pitching better than their past? History should have a show. I'm a little surprised that the batter is just kind of Brendan took it. I think the reason why joining us because their own guys were doing the same thing. It's like, Hey, you know, we can't complain about a the Yankees doing stuff when you know when the minister had twins were doing the same thing. Uh, you know, you know, back earlier we're talking about. You know the umpires not checking pitchers. Well, the managers are the ones who were supposed to tell the umpires. Go check this guy just like it was back. Then day when you make a banana got, you know clock Eric, but no manager was asking the empire to check pitchers because into their own guys were doing stuff. So that's why he just what wasn't working was that widespread?.

Sinoe seeing them in person for the first time this year. I thought their quarterback duo is is pretty. Nice peers clarkson sophomore. He looked outstanding. He had a lot of composure and a lot of patients in the pocket. He threw two touchdowns threw another touchdown rolling to his right and a and a great throw on the run to the back of the end zone. That's impressive and then he also ran for one hundred yards and You know he had five carries for one hundred and one yards. And and scotty it was easy yards. These are runs where he he's dropping back in the pocket. He's looking to make his reads. It's not open. And he has. He just escapes a pocket and gets loose and he gets to the sidelines and he'll stop until he'll run as long as he can and he'll get out of bounce And and kate. "And where the her party would back and it appears that she does have the support of the party at say there is nobody actively trying to roll her and publicly at least her. Ministers have very senior ministers have come out very much and rallied around her and have showed this important. She's done nothing wrong. She's not kind of resolved she is. Standing, there was no evidence whatsoever this daryl. Maguire. Any benefit from that relationship? Yes there are you one in particular sin voices as you would expect but it all really hinges and the future of Gladys Virgenes ladyship really hinges on evidence that will come out Daryl Maguire essentially says at the Icici today expected she will give evidence again tomorrow as well. WH- what he'll say. Now, we want to get into what may happen if if there are more bombshells coming, from Daryl, Maguire at his appearances. But before we do that, let's talk a little for people outside new South Wales about what kind of person Gladys Berrouadji cleon ease what's her public reputation What what sort of figure is she? Yeah I guess as well before this week. Yeah. Let us virgin she's such a strike choosy think that she's just so by the book almost boring that hardworking very much head down that she's married to the job that she squeaky clean she's almost sank gladys. And how she approaches. Her work at that she so dedicated. It's almost like she. She's the head girl I at school essentially that she you know she always says the right things judy, she's dedicated. You know she's not the funnest person to hang out with. At the party but she is a good solid safe pair of hands and and I think her record in parliament as well in terms of how she's been in premiere especially. In terms of how she's managed the Bush five and the pen dynamic has has also backed up that reputation as well. So she she is popular and with a you lock her personally or not. I think there is a sense in new? South Wales that she sees a solid layup what happens to that reputation given the. Revelations this week it does that have to be rejigged nowadays people reappraising Gladys Birgit cleaned in light of what we've learned. Well, really you can go one of two ways. Yes it is cheek in her armor and at ease in terms of a question of judgment you know she she insists that she has done nothing wrong. But she she said what she's guilty is making a bad choice in her personal life, which is what a lot of people can identify with. Lots of people have made bad choices indicted bad guys all not great women for them as well. So it's it's whether the even humanize her and You know she is A. Lack, the of us, but it could be damaging to the fact that you know what? Yes. People make bad decisions but not everybody is the premier, and if you want to be the premia, then then you have to make certain decisions and be seen to be making good judgement calls and there is an issue in terms of the timing of the relationship is. Now, these relationships added before she was the premia but Darragh Maguire was forced to resign from parliament in two thousand eighteen and he was under a corruption cloud. Now, Glassberg revealed to the SEC that she stayed in that relationship post twenty, thousand eighteen for another two years and she didn't end it. She only ended it when she knew that she would have to go before the current icy icy hearing through. Win. Did you say student Viz relationship with Mr Mogollon well, obviously a few months ago when I was asked to support base inquiry, it became apparent to me that I should have absolutely not context that's where it becomes a bit of a sticky issue and in terms of looking at her judgment widened, she ended in two thousand eighteen when she was the premium. And the New South Wales opposition leader Jodi McKay is having trouble imagining an innocent answer to that question until a month ago Gladys Berridge clan was still in contact with Daryl Maguire. Daryl Maguire who is disgraced by CAC, and he's a person of interest by. Now. That just shows a recklessness from the leader of this state. What it shows is poor judgment from the later of this state. How on Earth Did she think it was okay to still being contact with a disgraced m pay and still be in a relationship with them? Okay. So Gladys Julian is under an unholy amount of pressure and it's not the first time. In fact, it's not even the first time in the past four weeks because this time last month's gladys buried instead down a revolt from the National Party in an incident that has regrettably since become known as Koala guys. And according to the Daily Telegraph this morning, this has been going on behind closed doors for the past six months, and it's now coming out into the open whatsoever is changes made to the Koala Habitat Protection state environment planning policies along police toddle. This was a sash within the coalition partnership between the Liberals and the nationals and the nationals had serious concerns about elements of this new Koala policy, which is essentially a planning policy and it was around environmental protections, own landholders, properties, effected farmers, and addicted development on farms this. New Policy now, the nationals were extremely concerned about the so much so that they threatened to effectively move themselves to the Cross branch and and blow up the coalition agreement. Now got a spare Gigli and showed an amazing amount of car. She stayed down the leader of the nationals, Joan barone Lara, and the Party and simple. If you're going to do that, then I'm GonNa go to Government House and swearing and you ministry, and she really won the day there and they have scenes negotiated that policy but that was an amazing. Show from Gladys Berkeley and she's known for being much more collegiate and really trying to bring people along with her and he doesn't like confrontation. She's known that she doesn't like confrontation like then cheese quite risk averse especially, not knowing how things will play out but it showed as will that perhaps that she was an emboldened later and that she had a lot of political capital and she knew it just because of how well she has handled the bushfires and the pandemic. So that political capital now and that strength of leadership may be tarnished slightly and she may eight net up and she may not be.

"Review the day's papers. Now I'm joined in the studio by monocle Nichols Own. Have Been Ryan and Ben Good afternoon. Shall we start with a newspaper from your home city of Melbourne. That's right Marcus. West starting with the age and as quote a tense situation going on in Australia at the moment regarding the Prime Minister Scott Morrison. Now this is actually. Concerning one of his ministers the Energy Minister Angus Taylor Angus. Taylor has been in a bit of hot water recently. After he claimed that a lot of money being spent by a particular council in the State of New South Wales ells on on travel expenses. Now he was. He said in parliament that he was relying on a particular document that showed the the expenses had gone into the millions. It appears that whatever whether this document was that he was relying on May have been a forgery now data as obviously angered a lot of people One of the Labor Opposition politicians then called for an investigation into Mr Taylor has been taking place. The story of gotten the age today concerns. Scott Morrison the prime minister making a phone call to the police. Commissioner a New South Wales to ask about the substance of the investigation. Now you do generally don't do that. Needless list to say that has said a lot of people on fire. They're now saying that. The prime minister is trying to influence the investigation. The police commissioner for his part said that he he had seen the phone ringing several times on Tuesday morning but had ignored the cold because he didn't recognize the number so it does seem that even Scott Morrison Orthon has been having a bit of trouble getting through to the police commissioner but regardless this conversation has taken place and the prime minister certainly seems to be on the back foot over in And in other news the former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is making headlines as well. You've got the conrete indeed now. This story is well. It was rather tens about twenty twenty years ago of the story now consents the twentieth anniversary of the referendum. That Australia took to decide whether it would become a republic break away from the Commonwealth. Say It's it's time is up for You Majesty. The Queen and elect our own Australian head of state. Australia voted no on that but it was the beginning beginning of political career for Mr Malcolm Turnbull. He was later of that referendum campaign and he was present at this dinner. That took place last night in Canberra Dan Rutz who marked twenty years since the vote and he said that look obviously the the the momentum that led to this referendum still exists in Australia. There are still a lot of people who say we should be a republic. The questions are just we don't know how to do it The and Mr Turnbull has been saying that if if this question were asked again if if it were put to the people once again we need to work out what the model would be a not was really the thing that killed the referendum in the first place A lot of people agreed that we should eight eighty sensible for Australia to have its Iron Australian head of state but no one could quite agree on how that person would be elected and they'd actually do Hogan senses. Is this topic for example when you are in Australia. Meet your friends to discuss with Australia's Abuna public or not now. Most people have a bit of a giggle about it. Actually because the the queen doesn't really have anything to do with this training politics as it is the role of the Governor General which is essentially what the president would be if we were a republic. It's purely ceremonial. The only consequential thing the governor general has ever really don would be to sack the government in the nineteen seventies and of course not quite controversial especially if you're a Prime Minister Whitlam But ever since then it it really is a ceremony on your role. No one really gets upside about this very much and I. I do think that's why. A lot of people have reservations about changing the system because Australian politics ease for the most part ah very plain sailing very on controversial. We don't really have extremes on either side of politics. I mean they're they're they're have an awful lot of power sir. I think there are a lot of people who think let's just leave it as it is daylight savings in the other hand. Are they controversial as a topic. You've got a story from the Sydney morning. Herald my goodness Marcus. This is one of the most controversial topics you could possibly raise in his The moment As as you would probably know is well-known because we we talk about this here in in Britain to but there are a lot of people who don't like daylight savings Including it does seem the Labor leader in the State of New South Wales. Jodi McKay one of her constituents has has written to her saying that she would like daylight savings to be shortened or axed all moved. Because it's too hot to go walking in the park in an evening She complained that. Come eight o'clock in the evening. She would like to go for a gentle stroll in a local park. It's still hovering around forty degrees absolutely ridiculous. We should change the times to make cool things going to happen now. I'm not sure I don't have this. I don't know why get so controversial. I I suspect there are a lot of people who misunderstand. What daylight savings actually is the article here in the Sydney Morning Herald is it's quite enlightening? Actually about why people get so uptight about it. There are several reports some of them. Say daylight savings bad for climate. Change others say that it leads to a rise in robberies and so on He's just a list of some of the things that have been attributed due to change of time. A full in robberies increased petrol sales a- jump in heart attacks less milk being produced by cows. And you'll curtains uh-huh fading faster which is terrible news. I suppose if you're really into drapery I don't really see the logic in this to be on Marcus. I'm pretty pretty sure that if you change the time it doesn't make the daylight actually longer but we will definitely be following this new story here. I WANNA go to four. Let's make sure if that's Ben Ryland. Thank you very supporting a serum articles and follow and finally. Today's Bro Chronicles.

"Ten eastern to start at the rugby game that they're going to have on CBS sports network. I was actually surprised borderline disappointed last week in the first half sewed of the final season of game of thrones. Not that it wasn't a good episode. Really good episode. But what was and no one ever came out, one of the creators directors writers. But again, like NFL inside is like you take Adam chapter what he says people that are supposed to know said that because they're only having a seven episode last season that the episodes are going to be like their own miniature movies that it's going to be so intense that they they're they're not short changing you in its final season. It's just going to be kept to seven episodes. So that they're all going to go a little bit. Look fifty four minutes done a regular any of the previous seasons. Every once in a while finale of a given season might go and our eight minutes or something like that fifty four minutes fifty six maybe over and done with. So you didn't get the added value that first episodes. We'll see what happens tonight episode number two of the final season, which kinda got caught between a rock and a hard. Today again, Jodi McKay on CBS sports radio and get you guys up will run George give me for going off by the for just a second is getting ready to get out of my house. This morning got up my coffee, get ready to roll. And I was debating on how it's going to get the work today. I can go one of two ways either I can drive or I can take mass transit. And when I take mass transit getting out of here. Get out and two hours and seventeen minutes. If I take my I got walked to the path train, and then the path runs unscheduled it runs and take it over to jersey to Newark. And then I get a New Jersey transit train and take that from north jersey down, south jersey. And then I gotta drive home thereafter. If everything runs on schedule from the time, I get off the air until the time I walk in my door somewhere between two and a half hours to forty five usually closer to forty five then to thirty if I'm good time. Kate everything step on the train tried there. Get off trains air within five minutes. Cope can do it in two and a half. But usually to forty five which get me on fifty minutes before getting thrown starts. Let me relax. Take my coat off to down. Maybe get by teed won't be ready to watch TV at the top of the hour. If I drive there's no massive traffic. I make about an hour and twenty five minutes 'cause I just tried faster than a subway last train can go. And then I got no worries about missing the start of the show. So I was gonna drive today because I didn't want to risk not being home on time. But I got a real good book that I'm reading and when you're on the train or the subway, aka. The Pat you do all the reading that you wind because you relax, you set down you grab spot. Boom. You don't worry about it driving. It's kind of tough to tip from you, buddy. Jodi, MAC, don't read and drive. Okay. That's a bad combo. You should not read and drive at the same time. So just because I have this book that I'd started yesterday wanted to continue reading I said, let me take after eight damn Ukraine's better be work. Pat engineers out there. New Jersey transit. You bet that train on time. I don't wanna miss the beginning of thrones tonight. Eight five five two unto four two two seven we'll from Alabama. Thanks for your patience as well. Hey, Jodie happy Easter brother, how do you? But. So topic in the last hour about NHL playoffs NBA playoff kind of weird sports fan for down here, Mexico and into sports broadcasting, but I'm a forty Niners and has they sharks they represent the bay area, and bam, and I'll tell you the NHL playoffs are definitely better than NBA. I got three reasons. Number one. They lay whitening come out this year with what most points in in NHL, right? The most wins. Yes. Okay. So you know for basketball fans, Adele, ROY fall with hockey. That's like a couple of years ago. The warriors seventy three games and getting swept by the eight seat. You never see that in the NBA. So there you go upset if you like them. There's one reason watching H L to it's a crazy sport. Man. I mean, for God's sakes skating swords out there, you know, at any can fall and cut the jugular, you know, whatever. And then third reason is people say, well, you know, hockey's really intent that guy earlier about, you know, bunch of hard workers all this stuff, you can have her hard work and hockey teams. But you could also have beautiful hockey teams that play basketball is, you know, with the passing in the movement and stuff. So you really can't have you know, your reasoning there. So I just wanted to get those three reasons out there as well. I think everybody should be watching NHL playoffs over the NBA player. I got nothing. I got no problems with upset. Tampa. Shame on you. You had this phenomenal regular season. And then you went to delay today. That's supposed to be the NHL fall to the sports fault. No. It's the team's fault. Maybe they came in with not enough of an age. Maybe they came in thinking that they were going to just cake walk in the first round looking ahead to face in someone else in upcoming Eastern Conference mad. I don't know why they lost only they know why they lost. But I know that they did lose. And I don't think the sport or that setup or anything else should be blamed other than the team itself. Ron from Tulsa up on CBS sports radio. Hey, ronnie. Hey, Jodie MAC. You be. And good. I got love football. I'm young enough to remember when Notre Dame beat oh, you seven to three that broke. Oh, use forty seven game win streak. Okay. So you've been following college football for a good while now. Good for you, the NBA Bob Cousy what the Celtics. I remember when Bob Pettit which she free throws for the Saint Louis hawks underhanded. So that yeah. I have a question. What did you think about Westbrook's? Triple double amazing just fell a bit short of my favorite player of all time. We'll chamberlain. How would you? It says his individual for arms. I think Russell Westbrook is one of the most talented players not only in the NBA today but to ever play the game as far as physical skills. Go. I've been lucky enough to see Russel Westbrook play a handful maybe slightly more than a handful of PLA games live right down on the floor media guys oftentimes get to sit close to floor and television does not do him Justice with the explosion it. He has with the quickness that he has the ability get off the floor and above the rim in a short period of time as he does he does it like nobody else has ever done it in the history NBA. He's these that physically gifted now, I think from time to time Russia short circuits that he gets his own head out there on the floor. And he just loses track of what's actually transpiring any game and get so caught up in his dominate. Eating a game that he actually can become counterproductive. And that to me is a fall. He's got some traits, and some positives that make them a great. I mean great player, but he's not a perfect player by any stretch city magic. And that's why I think guy like Kevin Durant said now, you know, what I'll move on. Because Russell at times is going to get onto my skin because he plays the game the way that he does. And I'm not saying he's a just utter ball hog. That is a self glorification monger. Because we've tech does any NBA in basically, all sports. I don't think that's I just think he's so Ober competitive and knows what he's capable of doing that at times. He's a tough very tough to coach player that he can go in a huddle in shake his head coach gonna do exactly that. And it goes out there, and Russell let's his mindset and his body takeover, and he doesn't necessarily execute. What the coaches ad in mind. So while I appreciate Russell, Westbrook's talent and skill level. It is above and beyond. Maybe anyone else in the game. Is the reason why he's not the best player in the game? Because there are also shortcomings to wrestle. Russell Westbrook's game joy for Minnesota's up on CBS sports radio. How are you George? Jodi, good good to hear your voice here in Minnesota today. My pleasure. Thanks for checking in what do you got for me today? I just wonder where you are on the Kentucky Derby, we're getting close down. I haven't heard you talk too much about it. I've got some thoughts. I'm looking for looking for somebody other than one of the favorite though. I think it's a really talented field this year some real excited about here's. Here's my thoughts under Dr oh, by the way, I guarantee you between now and the top of the hour here next to three minutes, you're not gonna get pick the Kentucky Derby because I don't have feeling yet. It's not happening. But I will say this over all about where I think the Derby's headed, and what the is gonna look like unconductive derby day going in with a mindset of well, you don't play the Kentucky Derby favorite because this race twenty horses. It's just bad business. You're not gonna get a short price Kentucky Derby favorite because there is no standout. So the favorite is going to go off at. I think five to one would you don't usually get on any given rates any given day, you go to detract favorite punk five one. Your favorites can be five to one or more. So if you do come do all your handicap than make you flag Ray, eliminate orces to thing you do to try and pick a winner, and you pick the favorite don't shy away because he's the favourite because you're still going to get a pretty damn good price on them. So don't throw out the favorite because he the favorite. If you don't think he's the best and there's a horse. If the patient is six to one and you like a horse states, fourteen fifteen one we'll go ahead and take your horse. Don't pick the favorite if it's real close between two that big a difference. Then go ahead go for the value. But if you do believe that the favorite is the best horse don't say, well, no, I gotta take my second best because there's just no value attached. There's going to be value because there's no standout choice. I don't love the favorites. As of right now. I'd love the balance of the field. But I'm not married to roadster Omaha beach who probably going to be that five or six to one favorite has been dealing with a quarter crack injury, but he supposedly. I didn't know about that. Impressed with his his Arkansas derby in the slot supposedly ran within both of his last two races which were vote Lansdowne in Arkansas. So it's not a debilitating injury. But when you have a a crack you take that bad step your race races over. So makes it a little bit more dicey. Back in them in the Kentucky Derby, I really in. And and probably fill in that thing a little bit putty. I am I'm probably going to put more emphasis on the derby workout more this year than I have in previous years. I think they're important. I don't think you can make your decision solely on who looks the best in their last two workouts leading up to the derby, bud because this is such a bound feel because I don't have a hard leaning one way or the other. I liked improbable all year, but he got beaten both of his last two prep races. I still like him by completely off them. But I don't like them as much. As I did coma is a horse to I didn't like when the derby trail started. But was very impressed with the way that he won in the bluegrass, despite the fact that I don't love his stride only does his win. And if he works well leading up to the Kentucky Derby, and I get a video of them any looks like he's done away with little greenness.

"You will not get Joe and Evan on the fan today. But there is a nasty rumor going around that you will get Joan Evan on the fan tomorrow. At separate times that the vacationing Mr. beningo may just grace us with his presence when Yanna from the course they may be on the fourteenth tall when we speak to them tomorrow. Details are still being negotiated for Mr. beningo appearance on his own show. But there's a very good chance from what I understand that. He will join us tomorrow avenues, you know, this week is currently in this after any afternoon four Mikey's J. J C got me. Jodi McKay would do for the next three hours plenty to discuss planning to sink our teeth into it broke yesterday. Doran my third and final hour that Manny Machado was going to sign and it's still going to sign. He hasn't officially signed yet because he's got to pass a physical. And yes, once every blue moon a contract agreement will blow up because someone doesn't pass a physical. It's not like it never happens. It just infrequently happens. And when last we saw Manny Machado, he seemed physically perfectly fine in the World Series for the Los Angeles Dodgers, so expect this to become officially official. I'm here in tomorrow. Not going to happen today. They'll do it all wants to pass a physical media press conference. Out in Arizona, and he will become a member of the San Diego Padres. Did the first inkling that this deal was done? Give credit where credit is due with Jeff passan now ESPN send it Mattie Machado is going to sign a deal with San Diego Padres, Mark fine. Sand of MLB dot com was the first to give us some details on a deal as in link ten years as an overall dollars three hundred million. And by the way, Mark will join us next hour here on the fan. It was either Tim Brown or John Hayman. I'm not sure which added I said there was an opt out in the contract, and it would come at the midway point five years into this ten year deal. Manny Machado, not the White Sox. Manny Machado has the option of opting out a deal. I still not seen any yearly breakdowns of the deal. As to how it's going to be spread out over the life of the ten years. I did see someone speculate that they believed didn't say was definitive, and they didn't give numbers that it's going to be evenly balanced that it's not going to be a deal that starts at twenty five and rises to thirty five per season. It will be more closer to thirty million per, and if your Manny Machado, you would probably want it that way if you had the Padres if you can get off light in the first couple of years Machado, ops out and you're getting out of. Fatter years on the back end. Oh, yeah. That would make sense for the Padres. But that's not the way the deal was structured. I have not seen. Exact yearly breakdowns of the deal jets yet. Then Jeff passan did add to the mix that there is limited no trade clause in the contract. You don't know what limited means a begin block a trade to so many teams if he gets to renew his blocking lists dot a year in year out basis and change the teams that are on his no trade list. I'll give credit to Joe Sherman at the post. I saw a tweet from him. I'd say ten or fifteen minutes after we wrapped up the show here yesterday at one o'clock Joel predicted that the first Manny trade to the Yankees. Rumors will begin before the twenty twenty one season. So Machado will play twenty one thousand nine hundred twenty twenty in San Diego. And then by about twenty twenty one if the Padres haven't gone anywhere and the contract is starting to become over. The top for them. Yes. They could be shopping him. And of course, the Yankees will come into play because he didn't want to do a ten year deal. But what they want to buy into an eight year deal. I don't know about that. But I thought that was both. I'm point and also somewhat humorous that Manny Machado could potentially be dealt to the Yankees at some point during this contract. Don't count it out. I say here's how we look at it. There's the MLB effect the National League effect and the Yankee effect the MLB effect is Manny got paid ok for those who have been overly wrought by the fact that this is taken such a long time that the owners are one big cabal to hold player salaries down that they're doing a better job of covering up. Their colluding to keep costs down and keep players earned their hundreds of millions of dollars from actually achieving them hoops. The Padres broke down game. What are you looking for ten years thirty million per three hundred million dollars? So all the hand wringing and went down. Major league baseball was looking forward to a crash and burn scenario when the next collective bargaining agreement came up because the players are getting so shafted by ownership. Well, one of the big pieces fell into place. Yes. It took significant amount of time to fall into place, but it fell into place and the player did just fine. Not sure San Diego was first choice. Matter of fact, I'm pretty darn shorted. It wasn't not a bad place to land. Even adding Manny Machado. I don't really see the Padres as a contender the west for two thousand and nineteen but he signed a ten year deal that gives you time to do other things to put up place. I actually become a contender. And by the way, it's San Diego, not a bad place to live seventy nine degrees. Perfect almost every day. It doesn't go to one hundred. It doesn't get real, humid. It doesn't drop down to the thirties. It's about as good a weather spot location as you can live in the country. And by the way, you're the big dog. You're the big dog and a small pound. The town of San Diego doesn't have another sports team the charges move to LA. I remember when these saying this is how old I am the San Diego conquistadors with will Chamberlain where in the NBA that did not lost last very long and they've never had a hockey team down here in San Diego. So you're it you're the Padres your for the sports fans in San Diego, and I got a nice little population. There. I think it's the biggest population in the United States with only one sports team. So Manny Machado is certainly the man in his town. And he's demand at least overall in baseball because he signed the biggest free agent contract in the history of the sport. How long would let. Last twenty four hours forty eight hours seventy two somewhere thereabouts because we expect Bryce Harper to get more the NFL effect is as I mentioned this isn't going to lift the Padres in contention, Indiana, west the dodgers are still better. I think the Rockies are still better they can compete with the giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks, and they could finish his highest third this year, and they can make a push for five hundred. But I don't think they can win that division. And I'm not sure they can get into wildcard. But again, they've got one of the best systems in all of baseball. And he's young studs around the com-. So by the end of this year and what to beginning next year? The Padres may be a contender Indiana west so manny's muddle through his first year in San Diego, not the worst thing in the world. Then is the Yankee effect, and I think it's somewhat. Got to pick the right word here easily seen through that. Once Manny Machado signed. Will you know, there was never really a fit for Manny with the Yankees. He just really wasn't a fit. If there wasn't a fit between Manny and the Yankees. Why did they bring him in for a meeting? Why did they go so far as to have a face to face with Manny and his wife and his agent ever was just doing their due diligence? All then you do it on the phone. You don't need to bring him into your town. Bring him into your stadium. Take him out wine and dine them not Yankee start. There was a bit. Where there wasn't a fit was the kind of deal. They were willing to do. And supposedly the Yankees never even went to paper. They talk parameters over deal and the Yankees were looking at a shorter term deal. Then Machado's side was looking to get their hands on and who can blame them. They got what they wanted. They got the ten. In years. I don't not the Yankees. Don't mock the Yankees at all. I don't question the Yankees at all. I would've had interest in a guy like Manny Machado to, you know, would he fits into your team as positionally salary wise, commitment wise, and if you can't get it done get it done. There was certainly enough reports out there that Machado's preference. All the old all things being equal. His preference would have been to play for the Yankees that he was a ride fan when he was a young kid developing growing up and becoming a player is on that a ride with the Yankees was something he looked up due to Miami guys to shortstop slash third baseman that he would have empty Yankees had put ten years and three hundred million dollars on a contract on the table. We wouldn't be talking about Manny Machado sign with the Padres. Today. We would have been talking about Manny Machado signing with the shortly after they put that offer on the deal on the table. He would've taken it. But I don't think the Yankees mishandled this at all. Even if it upset this young man down at Yankee camp. Did you see the viral kid on Twitter yet they cater decides he wants no part of Manny Machado, anybody who's ever played for another team. Anybody who's ever starved for not doesn't want him put ninety eight uniform. He probably called me this year Knockin mock Giancarlo Stanton because if you don't get groomed to the Yankee season with this young man, you don't ever deserve to wear the pin strikes. Manny would've looked just fine in the pinstripes. But the Yankees just going to cut the kind of deal that it would've taken to get him done. And it leaves us with will. Now. What's the next domino? We know Bryce our prison signed how quickly do teams get into panic mode. Yes. That's where I'll call it panic mode. Two teams come to mind White Sox and Phillies because both the White Sox and Phillies were pretty aggressive in their pursuit of Manny Machado. And they both know that they're not getting him. The White Sox were kind of taking. Back yesterday in their offer was more annual average annual average value then the one that he signed with San Diego. The Padres were willing to go the full ten years guaranteed supposedly the White Sox only went eight but with a chance to get. Options in and vesting options and some bonus money in there. He could have gone above and beyond the three hundred million total that the White Sox. Never really breached. Yeah. Both of those teams will up their pursuit of Bryce Harper. So Bryce Harper and Scott, Bart should boats and a food basket demanding Machado. It is agent because. Yes, believe me when I tell you they made Bryce Harper money by signing on the dotted line with the San Diego Padres. So. Yeah, we'll talk a little bit more about the Manny deal. How it falls to the Yankees? I get someone who wants to call in and say they're happy that they didn't get Machado. That's cool. You're disappointed. They didn't get Machado. That's go. It's baseball. I had already figured that the Yankees weren't get him. So it's no big deal. No skin off my nose Yankee fans..
