Gary jenkins welcome. All you wire-tappers out there. Welcome into the studio of gangland wire. I've got a special treat for you today. It's jack garcia's joaquin garcia walking. Jack garcia undercover. Fbi agent you may be obscene him on some other shows here recently is kind of making. The rounds was undercover for a long time. Even though he wasn't jack welcome. I'm really glad to get you on the show. Oh it's my pleasure and honour. Gary her great things about you. We're good. I've heard a lot of great things about you. Read a lot of great things about you. You had quite a career. Let's we're going to get right to it first of all if you guys wanna know a lot more about retired. Fbi agent garcia's career. He wrote a book meeting jack. Falcone and undercover fbi agent takes down a mafia family. Net will tell you you ever wanted to know especially about his infiltration the gambino crime family which which i find fascinating new york times bestseller at the time when it first came out. I believe it was Two thousand and ten is at right thousand eight thousand eight two thousand and ten were you somebody optioned the screenplay got other people that i've had on the show and a friend of mine. They've had their book options screen blame but sometimes that doesn't happen for awhile while listen to keith bug. Getting anything option than the usually. If you write a book you automatically get off. And i mean they have these young college grads out. They're reviewing you know what's going on and interesting so they'll either buy your option outright. Which is a big mistake. Now that's why it's important to get an attorney. My worked it out that they own the option for a set amount of time at the end of that time they get renew it to pay me again otherwise the rights come back to me so i can sell it so the trick is to yes option. You're right eight but make sure that you're getting them back. So you're getting some kind of steady cash flow as opposed to them buying it and then put it away somewhere and that said your rights are owned interesting entrance. That's that's good. That's good advice. Because i know when you go all the way back to the old the music people that sold the rights to other music when they were just barely making it and sold it out and then you know be benchley their career. They become hugely successful there. Oh music is now immensely valuable. But they've sold it away practically nothing. So that's there's nothing new under the sun. Those guys are always looking to the big businessmen are always looking to get an edge on the little guy. they're worse than the gangsters. The everybody always getting into tame lawyer. That's my advice. Yeah but that is good advice. So let's go back jack. Tell me a little bit about you. Have a really interesting childhood. Shall we say so. Run dilawar tappers out there. A little bit about your childhood and you are actually were born in cuba. Yes i was born in actually nineteen fifty two still. That's kind of given up my h right here in just a little kid. Yeah right. But when i was nine years old we left cuba and came to america and my father had to eat leave a year before because he was working for the government and the fbi got him out of the country. So we got to america. We went to live up in washington heights did speak a word of english. Had no money or valuables from cuba. My father had been in the. Us working three jobs just trying to raise enough money to bring his home. So we came to american november. We saw first snowfall so that is a a tree from havana. Cuba you know. And then. Of course i had to learn the english language. And who's tough you know. I was always as big mama lou kid and when somebody make fun of me i defended myself so when i finally mastered english well enough a put me in the we saw. We moved up like the jeffersons and we went from washington heights to the bronx. i mean. that's moving. So the reason we moved to the bronx was because they had a marriage school. They're co mount. Saint michael academy and that's where i wound up going and then of course after that haven't played football and went on college and when i was a senior in college we went to see with the football team at one of the way games or something went to see the movie circle and i was just instantly bit by the bug. I said this is what i wanted. Be picture of al pacino looking guy. Long hair yeah. The old english sheepdog motorcycle lives into village and a story writes itself. Gary it's like. I want to beat this guy and i said this is what i wanna do. But unfortunately as you recall back in the seventies seventy five huge financial crisis so they were laying off police and what happens. I couldn't find a job and i applied for everybody. It was the fbi than hear from them than here flying. Why pd the state troopers in new jersey. On and and. I thought i was a viable candidate. College degree spoke spanish fluently. Could handle myself. And i figured nobody's coming to knock so what happened years later. I'm watching univision. Spanish tv network and i see this american guy speaking spanish horribly. And he's saying hey. We're looking for spanish speakers. And he's butchering the language. And we want you to apply. And i'm going wait a minute. I made an application. How come they're going and univision call me so i called them the next day and they told me. Listen review in your record. It shows you on an american citizen. So i had to become an american citizen and then afterwards reactivate the application but it took me longer than a lot of others in as much as i was cuban-born so when i finally got into bureau filed for freedom of information i saw there was all these documents saying inasmuch as that. He's cuban the possibility could be that he could be an infiltrate so i had to go that extra yard and then finally is on waiting to get a job as a police officer in union county new jersey as an investigative of the da there and again because my language ability and just a year almost and a month later the fbi came back and say we looked at your background and we want you to come on board. So that's what happened. I started my bureau career in april of nineteen eighty and it was a helluva ride. Great career loved the people that i work with. Some of them cancelled always is a you know what i mean. Gary people say great guys and they're assholes i mean let's be honest but anyway looking back i really had a i love it. I recommend law enforcement as a career although we are taking hits right now and the people. Hey you know. It's a sacrifice that we all do to protect and serve a community. Yeah you know. I hear speculation about how well these guys these these cops. They won't do anything now because they're scared. They're to get sued now. Let me tell you when you get out on the streets and you answer that radio call and somebody's hurt all that stuff goes out of your head. You just go help do what you're supposed to do. I everybody irish saw. Even the biggest jerk ever work when they got that call to that domestic disturbance or somebody over robbery or somebody that needs some help they blasted their and they did the best they could so absolutely you drop everything because we worked in a task force in new york with the nypd. So of course the signal is ten thirteen when you hit thirteen ten thirteen that said going red light and siren. And you do what you gotta do to help your fellow officers. It's a scary world. We're living in right now and it's a career choice today. I commend those who pursue it. It's way different than your era gary. Thank god aired by when following me around in patrol with the video camera on you have changed. How well we did the best we could. Then guys still do the best they can and they they're much more professional down. We were back there. I can guarantee absolutely and you know this is kind of like the big guys have been emboldened and the abused police take and extra things is something that didn't happen in the past and and it's kind of unfortunate what you see today. The disrespect and also the management perspective. How the bosses on law enforcement side really don't seem to back up. The guy says they used to in the old day. So you're kind of out there in the middle saying look. I'm just gonna do my job. I gotta be careful. But i got people watching me here and not that they we commit anything any wrongdoing but the fact that that added pressure of having a supervisor looking and expecting you to do something wrong so they could either fire you suspend you a worse indict year. Yeah really oh well okay. Who let's start in two with with your career now interesting that you were cubans. Baker are made cuban native speaker. And i know that. There's a difference in dialects a pass as a cuban as you couldn't pass as a mexican you couldn't pass as from from the american republic. Probably you couldn't pass the south american for sure but you would have been. You fit right into cuban organized crime. There was some back in the seventies. i had a guy on the david. Shanks from broward. County sheriff's office. he worked. he has actually another. I ended up writing it for him about the corporation. They call it. Jose miguel battista you. May you may have heard of him. But you'd fit right in that. Did they put you into it. Because you had that accent in that language ability that they take advantage of that right away or did you have to start you. Know the being a brick agent and jason fugitives. Well the way the bureau works now is when you start they put you an apple can work okay for me and i guess i became the mvp of all the other new ages like myself. Because i spoke spanish at that time though. We had the issue of mega seven and alpha sixty six which were anti-castro terrorist groups. And then of course that blossom to the faln. So that's how i worked those investigations. Because i did speak spanish. And i was out there with the help of these amazing agents to try to develop enforce informants side. I really learned about law enforcement early on for some of these amazing guys. That and i was put to work because of that. And if you remember nine hundred and eighty was mario boatlift tied up with this. Investigative priority of the seven there were killing diplomats and bombing. Old through the us in miami new york that i stayed behind which i think that they realized that this was assignment for me to do so. Yes spanish i used throughout my whole career. I mean everything. I worked. Was i work narcotics. Of course now. You're one hundred percent right. The accents are different. So a cuban tell. The colombian cuban could sell a mexican vice versa. So it wasn't that i went on started trying to assume the dialect and the mannerism. No it just would be that difficult so what happened. I always played the role of a cuban and if you remember cubans were very big from mariel boatlift of being drug traffickers and everybody knew their lanes like the cubans. Were involved in miami. During the miami vice sarah they were bringing in all the cocaine through the colombians. So i think my being cuban actually helped my working these cases because they knew that the cuban criminal element was alive and well in new york and miami. Which is where i work. The most was interesting. I remember this interview with this copper. From down there he talked about how there is you. Know from all the way from Miami all the way up the east coast. New jersey was a big kind of a population and then on the new york was a huge population. And that was the kind of cocaine highway cubans. Yeah well of course. Miami is pretty much like you're back to cuba a cuban. You have to go there. That's our mecca. you know. Yeah though there. And then of course new york city at one time it was washington heights but then of course dominicans took it over. We're more now in union city new jersey and we can and all of those of pretty strong cuban strongholds but heating see cubans moving out west or anything. It was just like every. I guess ethnic group we all gravitate together because we feel safe and comfortable and all a group comprised like that but yeah the cuban population that came here. King twofold that came during castro era. And then you had the nineteen eighty mario's which a lot of decent people came but castro also opened up all the prisons and mental asylums. Put them on the boats and they came to american totally destroyed. I mean if you recall the very big criminal crimewave way with these mariel boatlift and they will hardcore criminal and then when they were faced with doing ten years in a us prison. What are you kidding me. They were in cuba for ten years. Breath that's serious prison. Not you mean. I get television and get to watch a tv show. So the cuban crime element was really good and i worked a lot of them and there was a hardcore criminal. Yeah we got signed when that happened to go out to the halfway house here. They were filtering 'em up through houses of the federal system so we went over to the halfway house and duck the guy and made a connection there and trying to find out who they were getting in that came in on the boat left and getting into their and they would eventually be going out on the streets of kansas city. A day what they were quiet. The cubans came in were quiet strapped to themselves and didn't give up anything. It was really hard to tell. They were Well years later. Gary remember when the cubans burned the prison. I think it was atlanta. This is because the president was going to send them back and they said well wait a minute. Look happy here in prison. We don't want to go back to cuba so they in turn actually burned. The end was hostile Negotiations i think it was in talladega all of these other prisons involved. Well i had a chance to interview all of those individuals that were the leaders of the mario. Kart guess criminals in prison and you have heard their stores and you should've seen them. I mean they were all identified with tattoos under their lip. They also had little markings on their hands to symbolize. If you're a stick up guy fuel robber if you're a murderer and all of that and in a lot of these guys actually committed more crime in prison. That their sentences wearing crease. I mean like. I said these are some hard core guys and the interesting story was one individual and there was a silverstein which his name and he was such a bad guy that the cubans toward they were negotiating with the fbi. They said listen. We're here we're not into killing people. We just want to stay in america. This guy however is out of his mind gave the guy some knockout drug to give to this guy silverstein and he took it and they drag silverstein in handed a to the fbi. Oberstein had killed a couple of guards. He was just like totally. He was in for the wrong reason. That cuba was going. Look i know we're criminals. I know we're doing this. Hey we want to stay here. We don't wanna go fat interesting. There's a lot about our prison system right. Yeah it does talked to a few people gave out of that. Federal prison system. It's it's a whole nother world. i mean it is. it is a world unto itself. It's a whole subculture out here that we don't know anything about so. Let's talk about hundred. Where do you wanna go next. We kind of want to get into the mafia. 'cause that's mainly what this shows about the cosa nostra italian mafia. I know you made some inroads into them. Pretty significant inroads. You also i think as part of that you pop. Some bad coppers down in florida as part of that. So i don't know kinda start in that how you know preface it with kinda what what family you were working on. And how did you get in with them. Well pretty much my. I was an undercover. Fbi agent for twenty four out of my twenty six years so i- solely worked on the cover. Most of my experience came working narcotics again. Because i speak spanish fluently but what happened along. I started working different type cases than narcotics. I mean i posted a money launderer. Transporter poses a drug dealer supplier etc etc. Then i started working cases like murder-for-hire police corruption political corruption. I was involved with asian organized crime. I was working russia now. Some of these cases. I worked posing an italian guy but i was posing as an italian guy to asians. I was dallying guide to russians so that was kind of an easy feat but doesn't take much to do that. So what happened is one of the russian case. The case agent of the investigations Nap parisi who's from kansas city. And he came up with this idea that he wanted somebody to infiltrate and that that time was the albanians. The baynes had gone into a strip club. The man they've extortion money and they wanted to think it was to the tune of five thousand a month and dating get their way they were gonna come back the following week and start smacking people or out the owner said the hell with you. I'm not gonna do any of this so sure enough. The albanians commanded smack people around. Break the bottles to this to that. Said we're gonna come back every week until you give us the money so the former was pretty tough guy you know. He was the street guy. Knock around kinda guy and then what happened is comes to the fbi and says look. You're not going to believe what happened. I get shaken down. But he's albanians. Then the second time around i get this mob guy. Walks in the door is name is louis full of polly who is now a captain in the gambino. At that time he was a soldier and he says hey. I heard you had a problem with the albanians. We can make your problem. Go away but you gotta pay us so you see how they worked enhance and together. I've seen. I've seen that before the problem and then the other offices solution resulted you still paying the out. So it's kind of a clever way of doing it. So what happened is we said okay. That's when i came into the case they wanted a guy who was older a guy who is done on the cover work to infiltrate the gambino family with this guy. Lewis full of pelly and the albanians. So i paid them. Five thousand dollars to keep the abandons out they gave us assurances was recorded blah blah blah. Everything apps so now. We hitch our wagon to louis philip pelley and his crew. Now soon after greg palmer comes out of prison. A great department is colorful. Captain of the gambino crime family. He used on a place called the westchester premier theatre in new york. This is the place that before atlantic city. It was the vegas of the east. I mean you had frank sinatra. Sammy davis theme. Martin theon warwick you name. It played there okay and it was a mob own place. And they were skimming just like. I'm sure you know about skimming in your town. This is what they were doing. They were robbing the place plying. So what happened was cranked. The palme had been in jail for shaking another strip club coast scores. So he comes out of jail and he's now trying to reclaim is tough. Now we don't want to pay our wagons to greg palmer. Because they were stories that his days were limited on this earth. And the reason. For that. To digress the reason for that one he was in prison a guy that he straightened out by the name of them. Hickey lewis source was not picking up money from the places that belonged to greg. And not giving greg the money to his wife nikola source. Who was a millionaire. He didn't care about picking up two thousand three a he wanted to eat free at this club. That was on. Record with greg papa. This restaurant so greg the palm awhile in prison talks to a drug dealer who was in a wheelchair and says look i wanna wack this guy so the guy goes okay. I could get some guy from the outside. Turns out that that drug dealer was an informant and he was recording greg palm now they bring in and undercover in prison. While greg is serving and their greg's told him that kinda wanna put the guy away. Get rid of this guy okay. Now what happens is greg gets arrested for that crime in prison while he's arrested and now when he comes out of prison he's got issues now he's got issues because he had a contract on another guy nicholas source of who is a big money maker for the gambino crime family so we thought that his time was limited on this earth we actually even approached him and said hey listen you may have some problems. You are in prison this. What happened he goes. Don't let the door hit you. On the way out was a classic old mobster type guy anyway. Now he's out there. We don't wanna hit your wagons to greg but our surveillance is on this on greg. The palme as sees greg palmer meeting with the right people. He's meeting with other captains. He's meeting with the administration. He's meeting hayes meeting there. Were saying this guy's getting some juice. He's doing something to try to get his power back then. Within a couple of weeks lewis full of polly comes in and says listen greg. Depalma got his stripes back. Which means he's a captain again. Okay got it strives back now. You either want to stay with him. You're gonna come with us. So we realize that towers milestone. We wanted to hitch our wagon to greg the palmer and why you ask because greg palmer loved to talk and we love to listen so we went with the guy who told us and sure enough. It was the right move i mean. He opened the pearly gates for us as far as finding out an old during the time that i was out there. I mean i'm meeting with break the pomme but i'm watching that front door because i don't know who's going to come in and maybe white greg the palm. Yeah what he did so all along. He kept saying actually went to as i got to know him went to see someone he wanted to meet arnold with theory and say how do i make this good and it was decided that him and nicholas source of. We're gonna kiss the makeup shake hands and because of that was not going to be any dissension so all of that stuff was bruin. While i'm attached to greg. Now i have a question how did you get. I get introduced into him. The woman he had an informant. That brought you around in gun said. Hey this guy's okay right. I became part owner of the club. Since we paid. I paid this full kelly. I to to show why i'm there now. Let's aided this elaborate story. Gary and it's true but when you go out there in the mob world it's so different than the other than working the drugs because there is like who are you. Where did you come from. How did you get here so all of those things. We iron vowed we created this whole false identity for me that i was a guy from florida. I was the third generation sicilian that all of my friends. I was kind of a a drug dealer now. At first i didn't think i would pass is an italian and i was ready to come up with like yeah. I'm half italian half human but that never came up. So i wasn't gonna bring it up so sure enough. It was accepted. But i had to watch my ps and qs. I even went as far as going to florida. And looking for a mr and mrs foul cohn at the gravesite event. I'm with gregg. Were another guy and all of a sudden they say. Hey jackie boy. I says you're from florida area. Which that's where i was supposed to be from cisco pair. Respect your parents. That's gonna bring him some flowers and what he's going to do gary here man. You better have a great ready. You gotta have stanford utah would take him to this place and the only thing i would hope. Is that the family of those falcone's are not going to be sitting there waiting saying prayers for their point so i had to become an. That's the amazing thing about on the cover when you working. And all these case. I've done over a hundred major on the cover investigations that doesn't even include the by bus. I have this. Never been any accountability. Gary nobody in the dog world or any kind of welcomes up to you. Where you from where you at. How you doing you know who's there is none of that and now world is you're playing as equal you're paying like hey. I feel who you told me who i am. When you a cop in the mob world aesthetic ability there is that deference that you have to pay there is respect that you have to show because that's the way it's structured so it isn't like i remember many times like one time for instance break. The palmer calls me up because i lost some from just a regular knock around guy to being greg. The promise drive. i'm member one thing right. Calls me up. And he says they. Jackie got an early meeting in the morning again. This is what he was so valuable. I knew what meeting she had. And then i knew what the meetings were about. Because i was recording in so so it cost me up his jacket. Boy i've got an early meeting. Make sure you pick me up at eight o'clock society greg promises and listen bringing umbrellas going to get rain. I don't wanna get damn wet. I get up in the morning. And i look out she beautiful sunny day. I'm checking the news. Say it's gonna be sunny today. I'm going. I grabbed the umbrella i bring with me. I go there and other may guy was doing with the umbrella. William some kind of fool way. What are you doing so say. Great tomo to bring an umbrella and the guy laughed at me because out okay. I says you'll get an jackie. You're getting and i go to myself. What it says is that. I put the umbrella because greg diploma told me he was gonna rain and in atmar world if he says something then. It's the truth because that's as you know against his work but it isn't like if the courses the boss the boss tells you something you'd better bringing why don't ask questions should bring the frigging thing. It's a whole different world dynamic than ours working dope and i would come major cartel guys. Nobody put tested me or wanted. Loyalty are expected. Loyalty is just something that you have to do. A now world and it baffles my mind because all of these things in place. You're still are able to infiltrate. I'm that's because of the greed factor. That's because these guys all look at that money. I mean yes they set up the best part of mob world that i love is the friend of ours and a friend of mine. That is the learning that i got because greg saw me as this guy who grew up in miami it really didn't know the mob world and he would say to me jackie boy. Let's say you walk down the street. And i see a guide on and i know he's a colombo guy. I can't go up to him and say how you doing. I'm greg mama from the gambino doesn't work that way we gotta get another guy who knows the both of his make that interest and that that will go to him and says a greg. I want you to meet a friend of mine. He's famous jackie. That would tell him that he's just his friend. He's not with us but if he said i want you to meet a friend of ours now you talking. That he's one of us. He took that. Oh he is a made gut and these are these. Little things are in place just like older teaching. Greg taught me. He taught me things like listen when the boss calls no matter what time of day no matter what you're doing you better answer that phone and you better show up and then actually happened to me because it was a time when member the next telephones when you would have to wait talk. Yeah exactly well. Of course i got one for greg. So he would call me and the first time he had when he had a new toy. You'll be on clicking jackie boy so upset because he was fascinated that system. So i'm down in florida working with the dirty cops and all of a sudden they said jackie boy so i turned it off so come back the next day and i go greg. He looked at me he was angry. He goes over you yesterday. I said i was done in florida trying to make a deal together so he goes. How come you didn't answer the phone. As i was working he said. Let me tell you whenever i call you. I don't care what time of day it is way. You're at or who you wit. You pick up that phone because how do i know you ain't locked up. That was an. I remember when my wife's mother passed away. Okay i went to the wake now. Of course. I didn't want to tell the mob guys that my mother-in-law best because they will respect will show up or send flowers and that would be kinda weird if they show up to pay their respect and they sydney goes. Oh how long have you been in the fbi. Greg depalma so of course say and greg palm that two way radio and i went an answer our. Why did i do that. I did it. Because i knew if i didn't it was set me back and my wife understood. God bless her for a doing so. I'm aren't a lot of the inner mechanisms to things but listen all of these rules as you know better than anyone they still break them left and right you know. They cheat on each other. They do this. they're all many times her. Greg is okay. We didn't know that truck belong to the bonanno. Okay tell them you sold. Tommy sold the one hundred alley. They sold it for two hundred and tell them splitting fifty-fifty so loyalty among them isn't because that's the nature of the beast like criminals. So i've seen that here in kansas city where they're constantly checking on each other. I mean they'd call each other in the morning. Just say okay. What are you doing you know where you going in for. Really no reason particularly and then call from somewhere else and checking in constant checking in if they own air from somebody for a couple of days or if somebody didn't pick up or they can't find him right away when the phones light up. Hey you know we're spenc- add you know. Have you seen you know. He's supposed to call me. I've been trying to get him and they just go nuts. I think at the time there is a mob war going on. But i think there are local concerned about that but they're also. I think concerned that somebody might be going into witness protection or something because they drop off the face of the earth they get hold of you know where to you know. They wanna know that. Quit back that's so common that constant. I even know a guy today that is in and out of that. Were more out of it now. And he'll call me once in a while because he hadn't heard from me for a while he wants to see where i'm at. That's like he wants to test me to see where mad. Yes but you know. Gary not only that situation and make sure your ad or they're you're not locked up. It's also about money because in my book. If you recall the first chapter i talk about. Pd chalk pd child's was put in greg palmer's crew but he was never reporting how great the palm not gummy he knows. Pd chop at a successful book making a shylock business so now what does that tell you is in that world to operate in that world is you know. It's all about money kicking up. Money never flows down now if pd chops is making money. That means greg is not making money because this should be tribute payments. I should be some money flow up so that was what he was concerned about. So of course when he got information about it i wound up going to bloomingdale's and discard rob of akara soldier. Hit this guy over. The head cracked his head. Dropped them down then he was gonna stab. I mean all of the worst things and it was all about the money. It wasn't great. Could care less about pd chops. But he loves what pd chop was doing because the money flow is so important so besides you not being locked up if you're not reporting the bushes what deals you're doing. Are you making money. And if you're making money. Why am i not being greased. I remember driving greg around picking up money from this guy that guy. He's loaded up and his coat. Pocket is back pockets in his back and he says jackie boy. I'm hurting. You got a hunch. I go what do you mean i'm saying anita gotta go buy some benefit of what i'm saying to myself this on a bit. He must have about thirty grand on his pockets. And he's telling me he's broke. That's the nature of the beast. Always crying for the money. Money is their whole thing. It's all about. And what set greg from all the other mobsters in why people say. How did this guy survived. The mob where he talked so much when he got exposed. And all that. Because greg even told me he says and i don't know whether he was trying to get me to do this but he says to me. Look one thing i learned in this life is always pick up a lot of money to the boss. You never know when you're going to need okay and it's true so maybe another guy makes a score of one. Hundred gives ten twenty grand greg fifty percent. Why because he knows. Listen that's fifty percent. I'm giving him fifty g but he's going to remember that i'm gonna be the good student. How many have that little star in my helmet. And that's what it's all about so great played that and let me tell you. I think he played it so well that he was able to live not only with getting a murder contract on nicolas source not only for running his mouth like he did the captured the arrest of all these other guys and also the fact that bringing me into it so i think that was his philosophy. It wasn't money for me. But i'll do the right thing. The way is supposed to be in that life and kick money up. Because they're going to remember who i am and it's gonna show me as a powerful moneymaker which is what it's all about being earner in that world. I guess that costs the fbi a lot of money. Keep money flood through you up to you know fortunately for us we had the seizures forfeiture. All of these watches mink coats and yankee stuff that we were able to. I will go in see. I always gave the illusion of having committed crimes. So i would go in and say hey greg i got some guys down in miami. That just made a score of these rolex presiden watches. What do you think so. He looked at these watches. They know they're like seventeen. twenty grand. Just give me thirty five hundred four thousand heat. First of all. He never gave me. The money would say you give it to watch you. Give it to somebody to sell for a grant. Because he makes his money then he pays me my thirty five but you see he saw me as this money maker now. Five went in there. Gary has jovial happy-go-lucky telling stories and all that that'd be thrown on my head so went up in the trunk of a car. They don't care about that they care about guy who's gonna make money that's all it is. That's why our whole organization is all about added. You end up taking down to palm under people around him. I mean that'd be based on his conversation but his conversation that you recorded this huge kind of what the thrust in the end of the cases in my book I really showed my anger in the decisions. Basically saying that it was very shortsighted. The bureau's part because we got to a level where i could be present in these meetings. I could maybe introduce other on the cover agents throughout the country which setting up scams and identify of the mob guys so it was decided much to my opposition as well as a lot of the united states attorneys and a lot of it but the fbi managers said well. We got the boys we got the on the boilers. We identified hierarchy identified. These guys that we never heard you never know what could be could die and they decided to prematurely. Shut this cake now. They was that sixty minutes report. That says that they feared that it was going to be retribution. Because at bloomingdale's aiding beat up and jump on greg but listen i got over that because even though there was a beating i prevented the guy from being killed because we're in the business of preventing crime. Not creating make sure this guy was gonna get stabbed in the eye so but anyway did decided to end it. And i i voice my opinion so the others and they stopped. The case simply went out there. Actually rob caroline. I had worked it out that we were to go to italy to meet some of the people that he knew from the pizza connection and he was all excited. We said i'll send the car to get a six. Am and of course. It was the fbi to came at six. Greg depalma was also arrested in at the end. They were the first way. I think it was thirty. Two mobsters an associates that with taken down including arnold couture who was the acting. Boss tony mcgowan. Who the on the boys and slew of guys. Some from the genevieve's crime family and others from the lucchessi. So you know could there have been more. Yes every other case. I ever work. Gary and as you know this being law enforcement is that we work our way up here i am. There's no threat of my life. There is no holes compromise of me. Joke stone was given six years. I'm giving two and a half years. Yeah so let me continue. And i know that the more i mean. Just think of the scenarios. Look i've got a guy in florida who's having an issue flush out some of those guys. I got a guy in philly. Flush out those guys kansas city and he because greg the palm of being the gambino crime family powerful can be no crime family which set up these meetings and we not only would identify but also see what kind of criminal conspiracy weakened get but they instead after to just call it a day. But you know what i read on it of course wrote about it in my book had those discussions about it and then i just went on to work my other cased. It was disappointing. I hope one day there is going to be an undercover agent. Who is i mean. They had joe pistone by so we were both proposed for membership. I hope somebody is proposed one of these days and his to accomplish what i think joe and i wanted to do and that's take down more than thirty two people. A whole slew of more guys. Bianca's joe even they sent him out to milwaukee to handle a deal in there are so interconnected. i think people don't really realize your normal citizens then realize they really are connected between the cities and they really do know each other from being imprisoned together. I've got this guy that he's kind of loosely connected associated. I would say here in kansas city. He goes into penitentiary. System is down springfield at the hospital down there. And you'd mentioned the pizza connection while this got battle battling mente the sicilian kind of overlord. Joey say unnecessay inside of that narcotics connection had been arrested and was down at springfield and he gets a call from a guy he knows in kansas city. There's not a made guy but a fixer kind of a guy says. Hey this guy's coming in he sessaion. Here's what his name is yours. What he looks like you got to take care of him though by lament gets in and he tells him how to here's how you use a commissary near sao you do this and here's how you do that now and this is kansas city. You know helping to say out. That was part of the pizza connection. So connections are unbelievable. If you got in as high as you're talking about getting you could really do some good variety of different cities and exactly. That's kinda would really hurt the moist again not to me but those involved in the investigation that this decision was a bit short sighted because i mean you could go into and even in this area of course philadelphia you have the elizabeth crew. You have all of these other families just within the area as well as throughout the nation guide. Greg could because keep in mind. Greg interesting thing about greg. When i was with them he was more like an. That's break the palm. He was more like a celebrity gangster and the reason for that is people recognize many times. We went out to dinner. These are successful business. People affluent people will come to the table to shake his hand and reminiscent about the westchester premier. And they would talk about. All greg i was there was the best time we had a took my wife on a date and great department Love about the gangs. Many never missed opportunity What are you doing so the guy would say. I'm doing this. I mean have your business car and is each week. That business card. his mind is going. How do i get in this guy's pocket you know and i'm sitting there eating and i'm going to run for the hills wrong with you get away. This is and they would be all flattering about this story. Greg used to a mass like a whole thing of business caused by the end of the day because she was so well known for what he had back. Then i mean he was. He really had an amazing place. I mean you talk about the everyone. The who's su and that's where the famous photograph showed up. Where in the senate hearing with frank and carlo gambino poll cast allow and frank. Sinatra's arm is traits over. Greg depalma so it is fascinating that they would do to end to think about how that police went bankrupt. They were a greg. You tell me stories that they sell out this dinner theater so to speak and then the day of to performance. They will put folding chairs in the front. So let's say you think boy. I got a seat one. I'm in the front seat. I'm watching frank. Get your like ro fifteen now because you got all these other rose all cash. So i mean it's like i i would be. I would go with him. Wants to rochester big and tall right. We were in the city and he's come on quit so i'm in this expensive big man. I'm looking at this closing i. This is pretty good. I see greg just taking ties slipping and he goes. You mean what i'm doing. This is pay for that. I give me the tie. What are you crazy nada. How with the shot. It like stub santa claus stolen merchandise and it was because this is what they do out. It's the thought of getting over being a criminal. It never ends but it was a wild. Rye would craig people always ask me that. I get along with the guide. Now i dislike. I disliked him because no matter what he did. It was all about making money for himself. And the gambino crime family. What paint me about greg. The palme was that his son was at that nursing home now to go back his son craig was also a made guy that was john gotti junior crew and when they got arrested for the scores case and for the gold strip club in atlanta supposedly he cooperated and greg found out about the while in prison and navigated that system because he was a master at corrupting guards and somehow arranged the meeting and he just be raided his son a disgrace to not only have palmer name but also to the gambino crime family and then the next day craig palm is found hanging on his sap. Now when i was out there got a compassionate leagues. And i i you would always think like okay. This must be a scam. Like all the mobsters show up like an my trial. Darrell feeble and heard. I went to see him heartbroken. I mean the guy was in a vegetative comb and of course greg had round the clock nursing. He had it all fixed up and sometimes she would talk to them as if it was bizarre. Hey craig i want you to meet. Jackie boy and he would have music form. He was a loving father. When i saw that and sometimes i wonder myself i you loving. Because he's your son or again beano. Because greg the palm in my book was true causing ostra now yes. He talks a lot but he never took a plea the only time he took a plea was because he was ordered in the golden scores case even in our case he was the only one who took who went to trial arnold to teary said. Everybody wants to be a global plate. That's how the prosecutors want everybody pleads out on the global plea greg palmer said no he took it to trial just like he did with the nicholas source of tape about killing the guy in prison with hiring different. He went to trial and who thinks like that. That was jong body. John gotti was famous for saying even if they see a steeple. Coming out of your as you never you robbed as that's that. Was greg the palm as well. He taught that's when i say he lived cousin australia. He didn't go out there and cooperated. Yes could he have cooperated absolutely could have given up everything with us but he chose to take it up and also by the way when we were out there early on not only that we have the la- source a once. We overcame lasorda. attempted it. Then we had to situation with some gangsters back away from greg solely because his son had cooperated but greg was on this campaign to tell people that he did not cooperate got all allied created by the fbi. But listen documents. Don't lie now joe. Those documents kind of seal that so but classic he was loved by some old timers. One guy that we would see it was rudy sent the bello rudy sent. The bo was agenda these captain. Who was also the guy if you remember the movie serpico when he comes upstairs and this guy is money. Guy is goofing off at the cops and then he goes crazy. He's a cap. Ella rudy was a cop killer. Served i think seventeen years to supreme court overturned that and he came out back to the life of being a captain and him and greg were very tight so there were guys who dislike them more than newer guys than the older guys interesting. You know you talk about that scores case. I interviewed michael d leonardo few months ago and he ended up turning on Several people out of that case broke his heart to he told me said this is the hardest thing i ever had to do. It broke my heart to do it over again. I may not have done it. But what happened is he was in jail and the action. He had going out there like he owned a tattoo parlor. Does peter gotti was kinda been charged at the time and he was sandeman. People go by and getting money but not getting any to michael's wife or his family and that's caused him to turn on him but there's no loyalty and those guys when it comes down it especially in the more recent times yeah. I've gotten to know mikey scars. I didn't know him was. He was on the streets. And i think michael is stand guy. Yeah i think he's learned that about that life the hard way and i think yes. He was ostracized for whatever reason. Peter gotti had a hard on for him and they did to him and he was loyal. That was the. That's again the fascinating thing about this life. I could see you being destroyed. But he was loyal and yet they shun him and they really try to mess with his life and he did not want to cooperate and then of course finally he did and he did some damage to the gambino crime family as well as other families and i think he's michael is seen delilah. Here's a guy who grew up in that light. So it's like indoctrination just like i would have stayed in cuba. I will be sitting here saying fidel's greatest things sliced bread. So it's what happened with. Michael but michael one time was even going to be considered for a concierge job and of course he all of this happened and to shame that that the way this organization that prides itself does criminal organization apprentice so that were stand people. Were closing those are we doing it really is. It's a fake. it's all facade. They turn on each other. They robbed from each other a she and put its clamor is. And that's what is so shameful about this thing the way. The mob is viewed in hollywood. As you'd like. I always tell the stories like i put so many people and in my life and all takes his mop system. Make the front page news and our people knocking on my door. Wanna write a book about learn. Could own these guys to do their laundry for them. They make more money or more violent compartmentalized. It's not like you guys. If you want to know where joey pots and pans as you. Follow him if you lose. Joey pots pans. Okay let me see. Where could he be is towns. His mother's house social club took so as you know where if you take the cartels and they detect but they call la la which is the tail they disappear. Both they're gone. They'll go right to la go right to kansas city. It's all done. And then when you arrestees skies okay. I'm nothing and they really don't because they're told somehow there are so many layers are saying. Go to this vocation and the intersection of walk on. Walk there's gonna be a red truck. The keyser on top of that you get in it. You drive it to this location. Lead the keys on it and walk away so you arrest guy. You don't know nothing. What are you know coke coming here. So the mock guys. We know everything they're gonna do. And you add to this to his some of these guys like john gotti where he has all of his captain show up once a week to come on. Are you kidding me. I mean you see how they learn more themselves into now. They're not doing the social clubs duh. You don't need to figure that out you don't see cartel guys sitting together and discussing who they are so the cartels are more via. Look at the stuff that goes on in mexico. Insane heads killing families. I mean but yet the so-called mystique is always surrounds The mock personally. I think the fbi's making a great mistake and not treating them as an investigative priority. I think the mob as we speak is growing in numbers. I think the mob has more itself into a situation where they now learn that their way may not be working there so like mobsters should be making headlines. They should be making money. So i think what they're doing is back to that soco secret criminal society. They don't want these celebrity mobsters like phil. What's his name Merlene oh no joey murli. Oh yeah any joe. These other guys are walking around gay. Look at me. I'm a mobster. Yeah things are changing. And i think that because the fbi went from seven squads down to three. We lost a lot of work. And you're losing a lot of guys that are getting straightened out and a lot of things are are changing. That may be in five years. You may see the resurgence of organized crime. I mean what's your thoughts. Gary you've been in this business for a long time. Let le- in kansas city. Is they definitely much more lower-profile or some young guys coming up that they tell me that they're working hard to get into like internet frauds and develop relationships with people that do that kind of thing is the last word i've got. They still them. The older guys still made together. Just one restaurant. I got a report not too long ago. That all four or five of them there were like you know up and comers when i was doing this and now are in their sixty five sixty to seventy s. Still out out of jail. Why they'll meet but it seems pretty social in there but there's nobody really watching them. There's nobody really doing anything other than on individual basis. They come up with a crime but nobody looks at him as an organization as best. I can tell everybody for a while. Everybody was just fighting terrorists even here in kansas city. Everybody went to this joint task. Force on terrorism backed off from that a little bit. And they're they're back at it a little bit but never mind so. It's really hard to tell. I know they're still still organization. People ask me in kansas city. There still is an organisation. They still have people still expect somebody. Some people certain people kick up. I had a guy. Tell me about going into a business. And one of these associates came to him. He said well. Let's do this together. You've got access to that piece of land over there and he said but you know we've got to kick twenty five percent in my friends and i go into that you go on so it's still going on and this was kind of that gray area businesses strip clubs and this was a fireworks stand but and there's a little bit gray area. They sell those embassies in those bigger things under the table and had those available but while you're there make the bread and butter in these gray area place like strip clubs because like in new york for instance if the cops key called into a strip club for fights or issues what happens. They could be declared under the nuisance law how to shut him down. So what are you gotta do. You gotta kinda control all of that. And that's how they are able to hit those. But i think americans have also i mean of course the labor industry to it's one of those where they could in construction. Yeah unique concrete. I can get it for you this price so there is some extortion but not as bad as it was fact that so they kind of mellowed out because there and also to and. I'm sure you agree with this. The mob is changed usually in the past. It was a way of life. Yeah now is viewed as a way to make money and garner respect than celebrity status because back then these are the all time has were they they. They believed all that stuff and they came here. And now you've got these young guys who are working out in the streets and their flashy cars and their rings. The michael cole. Leone type of first thing when they get arrested they make business decisions as supposed to mop decisions like wait. Let me get straight. If i cooperate. I get the keith. This and i don't go to jail. Hey yeah where back. Then it was a different story. You know it was like is something. They believed it was their life. That's changed so much so the mob is losing that and you're gonna get the old days very rare you would have to cooperate us now. You have to slap them to shut them up. That's true. Although i'll say this about kansas city bill ouseley veteran. Fbi agent who is a case agent on the skimming case at las vegas. And we've never had a major guy in kansas city. Turn had some periphery guys who were made behalf. Italian or relax. Osias of associates inform but not really ever turn and testify and bill believes because kansas city. Such a small town that what happens. Is you leave behind this extended family. Who all know the extended family of the other connected guys and the actual members putzer maybe twelve or fifteen back in the seventies but they had these big extended families. They go to weddings together and go to funerals together. They go to school together. Their kids go to school together at the saint pious primarily of north of the river. High school catholic high school. And so to do that. You leave all your extended family out. There being ostracized from everybody else in the community. So it's I think have been a smaller town. Maybe might have helped a little bit as far as Not talking yes. But it's such a family oriented thing as you know it's like a. That's what's so interesting about these guys. Go out and commit. Huge big criminal conspiracies crimes. Take some thought some planning and billy to make connections and put things together and keep track of different pieces and then they go home and they have wife and a bunch of kids and and they all go to church and the kids all go to the Bronchial schools and they may have probably have a girlfriend. But that's all you know. It's all as you say predictable and you know about where they're gonna be just like they go in get up about ten eleven o'clock in the morning and go out and go to work and be home. You know maybe two or three in the morning maybe four in the morning you back up and do the same thing again. The next day crazy. I know and in some areas. They're revered are everybody's how many times you hit a storage guy goes. Oh yeah he took connected guy. Yeah like he's only. You can't do that for the things i we buy it off the back of the truck or i'm gonna call it. There is some kind of like in these neighborhoods of disrespect for these criminals. Because they get things done. It's like it was funny. What kind of. I get a kick out. I was working in the bureau. When i wanted to buy something to sell to the mobster to say a tv. 'cause we didn't have it on our on forfeiture and they needed like for instance. Arnold qatari wanted a plasma flow into bureau you have to sign as you know requisition approvals this guy go see time wise guys you pick up the phone. He goes it guy goes. Yeah how many you need. So the way. The streets work and the way the august so i could see how in the world is always done like things. People buying things fall the back of the trucks all day. Long as if that's an innocent day and we just going back on the tv thing funny story. You're like this guy. When i gave arnold scutari the television the plasma tv that i supposedly got through my connections right the next day on tv. Two sopranos aired the episode. Would robert loggia. When he comes out of prison and mac people remember that and that was some conforming with the way. Tony soprano wanted to tita. Sky was like threatening. He was a frequent loose cannon. So he says hey look we gotta do something with this guy so they set him up and they said that they had tv's in the garage. Yeah so the next thing you see ravello during the prison car leaving well who watches that show. That night is none other than arnold scutari. So i get a phone call from great the bomb about three o'clock in the morning. Of course. I got to pick up the phone and he says jackie boy. I need to see your right away. What the hell is this. So now me getting up a three hundred in the morning. It's not like getting in the car to set up everybody. You know what. I mean guys. I need you. We've got something. Which of course doesn't well received the three o'clock in the morning. No you get there like four o'clock in the morning you know. Yeah what's up. Greg which you get that tv when i get that tv you know. This is now wish stolen. You gotta be kidding me right. So he goes yeah. He stole the for my guys he goes. I knew it. I said you're not gonna believe this. Shit i had to go to today with rob had to go in to the boss's house and take that tv out of there because he said he was going to get arrested for that. This is life imitating art. Funny he took his tv. And i could picture arts jerry guard from a beautiful plasma total black and white rabbit and the khotan. I'm telling you yes. They will watch that show. And this is what i ever brought him back to tv but it was like funny like you gotta be kidding me. This is not really happening but it happened as clear as good. Good all right folks. We've been here over an hour now. This has been a great show. Jack i really appreciate you going into those details now. All you guys out there get this book because you know he's talked a lot but it's just that's just a small segment of what he goes into these book. I mean he's got corrupt policemen and we didn't even get down in that aspect of it. He's got drug dealers out the gazoo. Hey was spanish. Speaking agent in the middle of the cocaine cowboy days down there in florida there was. I mean that was like the wild west down there. So you're lucky you didn't get caught in the crossfire. That's not actually the server that's a website that'll help you get connected to it with you. Tonight it's Ian Nobody and Bark, and so we've got an update here on what you guys talked about last night mark that big news that arguably is got to be at least some sort. Of A factor in why the bitcoin price has been on a constant uptick. This week in that is that pay pal has made the announcement that they are going to be integrating bitcoin and some other crypto currencies into its massive global payment platform. I mean do do we have to explain to anyone in our audience? What pay PAL is I mean? This is a company that's now been around for something like twenty three or something years it's been around for a long time. It's a payment system. This is a three may pregnant watermelons a huge mobster payments is. I think that there's Probably a handful of people that understand pay pal. But if you've never been on the Internet. Right and there are those people essentially, it's internet banking. It allows you to send money to other people although I don't think paypal has ever actually gotten whatever. Banking permit pay pal doesn't operate as a bank per se in that they don't offer like checking accounts. They don't offer your your typical banking products and they don't hold reserves their money transmitter I believe. They're definitely a money transmitter. I suspect they? Well, they certainly are holding money for people right? Because there's people with balances in their pay pal accounts so. I guess they do to some extent, but they're not paying interest I don't think on those on those balances and they're not checking accounts per se and that you cannot write a check off of those accounts. You can only do electric transfers from one pay PAL member to another pay pal never. So it's almost like a membership. Institution not not in the same way like a credit union is, but it's not a bank and I don't know if they've ever like become a bank. It'd be interesting if you know more of the history of your Walkman to call in. I didn't they get bought bought by Ebay at some point got it backwards I think I think it was pay pal purchased Ebay if I recall correctly pay pal was founded was it wasn't a Peter Thiel who is one of the founding Paid and he wanted it to be a libertarian thing that it never works there. So he said, well, that's the thing I mean. There's a lot of people that get into business with libertarian visions and then the reality is they've got to. Kowtow to the state in order to continue doing their business without having men with guns come in and absolutely ruin their lives. I mean. Another example of this I suspect is shape shift which was founded by a free talk live listener and longtime supporter Erik Voorhees by no means is this guy unprincipled? He's a principled libertarian. He's somebody who despises the state but. Yet a couple of years ago. There was a very sad email that came out from him about how they had to go in do know your customer anti money laundering jumping through all those hoops with all their customers and I don't know how big of a downturn in business resulted in in that from that but I suspect it wasn't insignificant whatever that downturn. was because there were a lot of people who were grumbling about that like I like shape shift. But now I'm going somewhere else and and it's too bad because I like shape shift to and it was a shame that that's the way they had to go but they probably were threatening to like you know throw his wife in jail or something like that. If he didn't jump through the HOOPS and once you've got a billion dollar company in your in your hands and you realize that they're going to take it away from right. If if you don't do what you're told, you know it I mean I. Guess My reaction would probably be taking money and run and do what I wanna do anyway restarted underground. Yeah businessman. Consider their. Companies to be their community so. Generally the hierarchy for humans is themselves their family, their community country, right the so their communities, employees, and stockholders and things like that. You mean, the probably the employees, those are the ones that are seeing stockholders are just faceless faceless, and so if you're in the case of Eric Voorhees in shape shift if you're looking at shutting down your company in putting. Twenty forty sixty. I don't know how many people out of work out of work on the streets seems untenable that you see every day in order to make some. You know philosophical point out and they help on an airplane as easily as the owner can presuming he's successful These are just folks who are working hard, and so they probably can't just unplug themselves in fly to some island somewhere to restart things underground as much as I appreciate nobody's approach I. Mean It's definitely the the one that warms my heart. But it's it's tough when these things happen out there and but now. So much easier to make that decision when you don't actually have the billion dollars, right? And, pay pal certainly has more than a few billions I would imagine I don't know what their companies worth but I'm going to guess it's in the multi multiple billions range said massive massive corporation that spans the entire planet you WanNa Talk About a compliant company that is pay pal I mean they are doing business not just with the US banking system, but they're also. Doing Business in I don't know how many other countries it's gotta be dozens more. I have sent pay PAL transactions to people in other parts of the world, and they don't have US bank accounts. So presumably, that means that pay pal is able to interface with you know the European banking system, the Asian banking systems, and so that that I mean just just to do. That with the US banking system requires a tremendous level of nuance to the state and to the you know government regulations, but they're doing it all over the world. So I mean, this is incredibly compliant company and the idea that they would just jump on board with Bitcoin was very exciting for people because as as much as those of us in the real crypto. Currency World those of us who've been and into the CRYPTO currency world for years and understand and appreciate the independence that it can bring and the idea that having your own wallet and having control. One hundred percent control over your money meaning that you hold the keys to access your crypto currency online we know how it really ought to be done but we can also I WanNa speak for you guys but I'm just generally saying this I think we can also see the value in companies like pay pal or square which entered into Bitcoin I think two or three years ago at this point and turned a large audience of people that otherwise may be weren't familiar with bitcoin onto it and gave them the opportunity to purchase it. Mind you. It was buying it in a what they call a custodial account meaning that square and now pay pal coin base. With some of these other Maga's mega companies, they hold the keys right to what is supposed to be your crypto current. But if you'll recall when we you and I and I got into crypto currency, we chose custodial wall we did and it hurt had yeah there was a WHO's a painful which one? Did you choose? It was called my bitcoin Wallet Dot. COM AND IT turns out when they say my bitcoin wallet, they weren't talking about my bitcoin wallet they were talking by. Clear. And did he cash in on that? He did basically a bunch of people sit cryptocurrency. He bitcoin he. Said whoops I got hacked. And then they said, Hey, you know we've all read bells paper on assassination politics maybe you should give us our money back and he said whoops, I found half of it and. Everybody got forty, nine percent. There bitcoin back. Yeah. And this guy disappeared into live probably like a king on some. Specific islands someplace where we can always hope that he disappeared into a ditch with the snitch it who knows what happened to him I was happy to get half my Bitcoin town I think most people were. Yes so much did you lose I think I lost like fifty bitcoin? Yeah we had we both had. I had gotten forty-eight bitcoin from Gavin Andriessen for paying for his meal. At some our first meeting, really about Bitcoin and That was worth while ten bucks. and. That's what we put in there and then we got back. So it was worth more when we get back. So we were talking about the difference between a custodial bitcoin account where some company or other person has control of your bitcoin. A bank account is a custodial account meaning that you have your dollars under the control of this other this institution right when the bank doesn't feel like giving you your money back they don't. That's right. That's what it means. If if pay pal gets hacked, they remain liable. The toll free number here is eight, fifty, four, fifty, free. That's eight, five, five, four, five, zero, three, seven, three, three and Bitcoin is on fire over thirteen thousand dollars per bitcoin. As of some time yesterday it's kept their most of the day today think might have dipped down a little bit below thirteen not sure where it is at the moment. But somewhere in that range, we're not at all time highs yet but the only time bitcoin has been higher than this was for like what like less than a week in December of two thousand seventeen I was going to say that as soon as you said, we're not at all time highs if you take out one week in December. Of twenty two, thousand, seventeen than. Then, yeah, we are. Indeed. So you want to learn more about bitcoin. Now is a great time get on over to BITCOIN DOT, com they've gotta getting started area there. You'll learn about BITCOIN BTC and bitcoin cash pch. And that's GONNA. Be something we're going to be paying more attention to over the coming weeks because there's a potential that bitcoin cash. is going to have itself a schism. Right after the election, actually like a week or so we can half after the the election, there's GonNa even bigger news in the world of Crypto currencies will keep you up to date on that. We'll talk more about it as we get closer and what that could possibly mean because it could get a little complicated Soco and learn the basics over bitcoin dot com. There is a learning curve involved in learning about crypto currency. So there's no better time than now to starting that process because this stuff isn't going away I mean the the news story I brought in tonight to talk about is regarding how Bitcoin this year twenty twenty has out performed. Everything. Amazon apple facebook Google all these mega corporations that everybody is just way to make money. Well maybe crypto currencies going do better than all of them. Yeah. That's possible I do want to address that because I've certainly been keeping a close eye on it. When you think about I mean there's other years when crypto currency hasn't done that well against dowse and over time it's done much better and obviously you get to pick your stocks and you can make a better story but. This year, a lot of investors tend to be rather. Skeptical that the bull market that went on for well the longest in history. Up to this point is somehow going to manage to not just recover and it did recover to some extent. But not just recover but continue on running like they. Just you know businesses stopped around the world and it surely, it's affected stock prices so. If you decide that stocks aren't the place to be well. Then where are you going to be? Real estate's been destroyed by repairs. At least in the United States by repurchase governments that are looking to get more and more tax revenue So you can't just hold land and buildings and expect, and you know without without putting them, employing them right the using them. Without losing money and you gotta remember there's a Lotta homeless people living in houses right now because it's illegal drew victim, but it won't always be illegal. The victim that much is true to there's I. Mean you know stocks you don't want to be there. Bonds will those are just loans to public companies so you might as well buy stocks. and. The list is pretty short where you're GonNa, put your money because you can't just put it in if you put it in a savings account or a money market, you're losing money. and. Where are you going to put it especially if the government decides and I don't know maybe a government that just printed nine, will I print I'm using quotation marks just created nine trillion dollars nine trillion is the numbers that I've heard. Wow. Okay. I thought it was like three or four, but it's still at counter four in the first bailout. Agreed on the next one now, I, know there's been a bunch of other money paid out. Thing, Federal Reserve has created money and you're not hearing about that because it's not the US government taking. Loans against the American people it's just the banks creating money. I see what you mean just issuing loans or whatever they do. Right. So you know maybe these this big banking organizational just come in and decide that Your money is your money's there is. Now who knows this has happened in some countries so you could put it in. You could put it in Bitcoin and those are your choices. A lot of people don't understand. You can put it other crypto currencies and have the same sort of effects that you do bitcoin. They think of Bitcoin and crypto currency is synonymous term. And You know it's understandable. I mean essentially, Bitcoin has sort of become the the Kleenex of crypto currency meaning a nothing bitcoin's a brand name but it's a specific thing sort of like when people say they wanNA coke in south they don't always mean they WanNa? Coke. Coke you. WanNa Root Beer Co.. That's right. I. Don't know I. think that the people who mistake bitcoin. For being the whole crypto world are going to pay terrible reckoning one day. I tend to think that there will come a time when bitcoin has outlived its technological advance I mean in the same way that today it costs four dollars for me to send a bitcoin transaction in the second block. So not the first block which would be as quickly as possible, but almost as quickly as possible, the model t was a really good car. For a period of time and then you only only one. Car It was in the worst it was It was the first carbon assembly line. There were lots of cars that were sort of. But it's I mean. There was a time when model t made a lot of sense for a lot of people but then better things came out and you know I don't know at some point seems like the way that the BTC bitcoin people make decisions that they're never going they're not going to move forward. Because they're talking about technological advances they're proposing technological advances, but it's just vaporware at this poem. If. You WanNa. It's Oh papal starts taking bitcoin it'll be huge and it is I mean I I'm not ready huge. Yeah. Well, Bitcoin is big but by no means, is it huge? Only seven percent of? Americans habit which I consider to be a lot of people. I, think that's actually a pretty good penetration given how young it really is. Happy to penetrate seven percent of Americans now. Very proud. But there's there's a catch there is a catch. And as I said, pay pals very obedient. Company and I think that's why this is. From Decrypt Dot Co news broke this morning that pay pal the company that kick started the online money transfer industry. We'll start allowing users to buy bitcoin and there was a few others maybe several different cryptos like bitcoin cash is in there. Via its APP and its website. We were talking about the pay pal situation. We're GONNA, continue with the big news and it's worth talking about this news and you guys covered last night on the show I think in depth that pay pal is now going to be allowing customers to pay with cryptocurrencies like four or five different ones. A big deal, right that is a big deal. Unfortunately, there's a nasty nasty little catch and we'll tell you about that coming up but inner coins programmable coins are designed to help groups raise money for a new project or initiative in a way that's complying with regulations. Coin represent securities that obey individual rules like not being sold to US residents for forty days. Purchase coins can contain rules that govern how they're supposed to be spent, and when they be cashed out and inner acquainted self is designed to provide full trust lists equity between any currency pairs, removing the need to list coins on exchanges to enable secondary trading. Now coin is attempting to regain some of our freedoms that are threatened on the Internet and in Meat Space and we think that's important here on free talk live. So we accepted forty thousand dollars worth of inner, Coin Tokens from Inner, Coin Inc., for advertising if you think freedom is important to check out Inter coinate Inter coin Dot Org, you can invest in this project and potentially make big gains or just involved in perhaps shape its future inter coined dot Org. So inter-korean is something that's moving towards more financial freedom for people pay pal. There's not much in the way of financial freedom to be found in this proposal, there was a time but not anymore. There was a time when pay pal was a young nimble up and coming provided a lot of financial freedom to people. I was young Nimble to. Yeah, but you didn't sell out nobody that's the difference I burned and pay pal is selling out big time because they are not only going to be controlling the private keys behind whatever crypto currencies are associated with your pay pal account. They're going to have control over as you would expect, that's not a surprise but the real shocker is that according to decrypt dot co early users of the system have discovered that the Crypto in your account at pay pal cannot be transferred to other accounts on or off of papal. While that's a big deal. Yeah. So if I pay you mark and you've got to pay pal account and your customer and buying something you from on your website or whatever, and I pay you with Bitcoin pay pal may show you haven't used the system yet right. So none of us have, but some people apparently got peak at it or whatever. Pay Pal will show you perhaps a balance of bitcoin unless you've told it to always convert dollars or however they end up setting this up but you may be able to hold a balance and Bitcoin, and that's all you'll be able to do besides sell to Bitcoin for dollars on the paypal site like. By the by their standards at their. Price. Right that's right. So is it going to be a monopoly or are they going to? Setup buys. Transactions like local local bitcoin. I. Can't imagine they're going to do that. No they wouldn't do anything like local BITCOIN. Basically. They're the only buyer for that. That's what I suspect is going to be the case because again you see you will not be able to at least at this point, you will not be able to send your bitcoin off of your pay. Pal. Account. Wow. So it's a big. It's a big thing they're doing in so much as they're allowing people to. Be. To accept cryptocurrency in very convenient way. Through the Papoutsis basically you know some large percentage of businesses in America are now able to accept crypto currency that weren't or will be very shortly they're gonna I mean roll this out over whatever amount of time it makes them roll this out won't be all all at once it's the ones that were too lazy and too ignorant to go sit up an any pay any pay INC DOT COM right which takes like five minutes I mean you can go to any pay. Inc. Dot, com create your account and it doesn't even take five minutes to create the accounts two. But what pay pal does offer is is that they'll turn your crypto into USD's if you're just like I'm not GonNa Learn about this crypto thing I don't want to benefit financially from this I. Don't believe it's going to go anywhere I. Think Everything's GonNa stay the same I'm going to get back out on my horse I'm GonNa ride back to my air conditioned house those dollars. And that's fine if that's what you WanNa do is a business and look a lot of businesses are not looking right now to try new things and those are the ones that are going to play Dan because of this this big change occurred in the financial landscape recently. If, you can't see past the nose on your face, you're not going anywhere. Well, right. I mean if you're always doing things the way they've always been done, then you're a. Rude awakening at some point because the world is changing around you and I, heard you complaining about this happening last night on the show mark you're bellyaching about I forget what it was but oh yeah, was pronouns. Or something like that that you're. Refused to us, they also will not use to describe a person that gets ridiculous. I mean. I'll I'm up for just about anything pronouns but not the. Z. About Paradise Live with Z look if we're talking about somebody who is meaningful in my life you know yeah I can do Z. which is just a sort of a made Pronoun that they've they've got and okay. All right. If you've taken the time to explain it to me and in these sorts of things and we you know we're working together. All right. The leather. Accept other people's pronouns or whatever that has isn't going to have much of an effect on Your Business in the future whether or not. You can look and see what the future of money is. All about may have some effect on Your Business and crypto currency is not going to go away anytime not considering the China just rolled out their digital currency and they really the Federal Reserve has claimed that they are rolling out too. Well, there's a lot of talk about this story. There's but look what the Federal Reserve is not doing is they're not saying you know there's there's a whole whole bunch of things they're not doing at this point so you can expect It's a harbinger for what's happening in the future. They understand the Federal Reserve even if you don't understand ladies and gentlemen the value of digital currencies, the federal reserved us. And they're the ones who make money. Well, let me tell you what they're the ones who enslave you and. They're the ones who enslave your unborn great grandchildren. Because at. You're giving the US government a lot of credit for longevity that it doesn't deserve. It may maybe the United States government doesn't make it any further. Done. We can look at history and we can see that a debt has been carried since the Andrew Jackson Administration at the very most recent point. The government is the walking dead I mean it is a Zombie and searching for brains you. If you wanted to be highly generous, you could say that the real debt began somewhere around the eighties you know somewhere around via the end of the Vietnam War somewhere in there with the with the change when the Federal Reserve. Excuse me when the rules changed regarding the dollar decoupled from gold completely, and you know from that time debt has just increased over time and I mean you know you're paying interest on the debt from on debt from the Spanish American War Right now ladies and gentlemen. So you can't tell me for yourself and filed feilden along taste stop doing that you're talking about income tax you're paying all kinds of taxes and you're paying less and I congratulate I. You for paying as little as possible design me and I'm about Iraq. Does? But. You know I mean we're all paying it, and that's you can't get away from it. So to say that the United States government and the Federal Reserve are trying to enslave your unborn great-grandchildren is not a radical statement because it was certainly true for the people. From the Jackson Administration social one of the reasons why Bitcoin is valuable? Is because when unencumbered by arbitrary rules like paper towels attempting to put down upon it? Bitcoin. CRYPTO currency that like it bitcoin cash and others allow you to send value to anyone in the world who has an address. On the Bitcoin Blockchain, you can send money value to anybody in a matter of minutes instance. And no one else can say otherwise now pay pal trying to say oh We're taking that feature out of Bitcoin no more sending except if you're going to send it to pay pal said a test that's where it ends. Bitcoin is on the rise and it is killing it against other investments. Specifically, the mega tech stocks we can talk about the the latest run up to over thirteen thousand dollars for one bitcoin. So people are paying attention again once those numbers start going up people pay attention, right they pay attention. Of course, you know when we were telling them to to get a hold of some bitcoin at three thousand dollars not too long ago. Yeah. They don't pay when we were saying at three hundred dollars, three hundred dollars a thirty dollars or three dollars, three dollars. Guys crazy. They don't know what they're talking about I. Don't know if I was saying it at three dollars. I might have still been skeptical back then from one dollar to thirty dollars down back to one dollar. And we were on that ride from Upton thirty and then back at one and I recall having said when it was a dollar to buy and bitcoin is worth a dollar, it's worth a million and I still believe that I I in this at this point, I believe it for Crypto, as a general idea I'm not sure that Bitcoin bt is going to be the the the currency that is it's not a currency this point. Historic value that's what they. That's what they're wanting it to be, and it's a shame because it wasn't always that way. The thing is bitcoin didn't scale, which isn't the it isn't the end of the world for it. It still useful and I think that the scale ability problem will be solved with a whole bunch of parallel. Currencies, so you don't have to worry about making one chain. Scale you just have to worry about making them all scale when they're working together the problem is that Bitcoin is in. The position of being having a market price that is many times higher than something like Bitcoin cash, which is just as useful. More. So yeah, well, it's it's more so in that. Bigger blocks. So yeah, I can get it can hold more transactions and right now because not full and it's nowhere near being fool as far as its network capacity is concerned, you're looking at maybe a sent two cents per transaction fee on Bitcoin cash or cash, or even less than a Senate and house yeah. I've seen a one or two cent fees recently on on both bitcoin cash dash I think but. I've never seen a penny fee. Oh, you. Maybe you just haven't paying attention I mean maybe not. But. They're very, very light compared to bitcoin which as I said, I sent a bitcoin transaction yesterday for three dollars today, it was four dollars. Send A bitcoin transaction and that wasn't even for the next block. If I wanted next block, it would have been like six. Right into the next block. So now you're talking. Essentially, if it was three cents for the bitcoin cash transaction, which is a whopping Lee high transaction at three cents. Times two hundred times as much. For the bitcoin transaction and that's not sustainable and no, it's not not for currency when people get hip to that I think what they're going to do is there's GonNa be a huge shift in the old coins that it's happened before yeah or Bitcoin is going to have to address it with its lightning network that it's been. Do that would make it more valuable than bitcoin cash lightning network house more valuable. Well, I don't know that much about. Using. One. Fusi if it a new acquaintance can make a young I can deal the lightning network. Yeah I can't. Okay. Sickly opening network is. Everybody puts a bunch of bitcoin into a bag and then they trade in owe us and when they're ready to cash out the I owe us they take bitcoin back out of the bag who controls the bag. The bag nodes yeah. Trusted Nodes I. Trust. The bag trusted. Trust and who? I don't know anything that involves more centralisation I kind of precedent bristle against and from what I understand. That's what the lightning network does. But again, that's my brief understanding which just. Just because I don't like the idea and I don't doesn't mean that it's not going to be the one that works as it worked yet agreed book. Money on the lightning. Now, we're trying to put money into it and send it around and it just goes away. One, Guy, who lost? A significant amount of money like four thousand dollars. And apparently, he did that by failing to keep his node up winning had like he was one of those trusted guys and his node went down and as a result of that, he lost the money somehow. Comforting Yeah and until I can answer questions like how exactly did that happen I have no interest in using the lightning network. Yeah. I've never seen anyone using lightning with the exception of Chris Reedmen here in town former co host of ours who is busy opening up a convenience store. That's what he's been up to for the last year. Basically, they're ready to to finally get there and he's the only one I've ever encountered who's actually excited about lightning network he seems to think it's going to be something. But I've yet to see that excitement transferred to anyone else at all. It doesn't seem like anyone really cares. People who are definitely excited about online lightning network? No. No. I mean we've met people at have conventions and events and not gonNA, include people at conventions. You don't. You don't include people at bitcoin conventions. I'm talking about the real life people who? In Real Life Okay I've never heard. You know I don't know what he thinks about that. But the people that I encounter in real life no one's talking about lightning no one at any of the bitcoin meet ups brings. talked to five people in real life, less fewer than five people in real life that are excited about lightning network in this area no period. Okay. Gotcha. Yeah, I've never had it. It never came up at any of our bitcoin meet UPS. There's no one who's talking about any of whatever the exciting developments are enlightening. No one's ever brought it up like, oh, today, the lightning node did this or they lost. Doesn't get talked about in fact, this is the most we've talked about it on this show in the last probably two years I would say so going on, we were talking about how pay pal has started to adopt crypto currency and maybe this is just the beginning and it probably is so there's a chance this is going to change in the future but for right now for the moment, pay pal is not allowing withdrawals so if you are paid in Bitcoin on The new pay pal bitcoin accepting payment system. You just get to keep it there and look at it. Maybe change it into dollars maybe change dollars into Bitcoin, but you won't get get to withdrawal the bitcoin from the pay pal system like you can with your dollar balances into your bank accounts and such. So it's more like buying stock from a stockbroker. You tell them to buy it, and then when you feel like it's going to go down, you tell them to. Sell it. So it's useful for speculation there button not useful as currency. Yeah. In fact, also they're going to determine what the trade. Trading values are so they're going to be here. Here's a little prediction ladies and gentlemen we're talking about pay pal here we're talking about one of the largest banking banks in the world. It's not a bad bank. Well, you can call it what you want. It functions like bank. How about a financial institution fine. It's one of the largest financial institutions in the world. They're dealing with you and you the you know Mr dry cleaner from poughkeepsie year take accepting bitcoin. It's your business. They're going to give you the lowest price. They can give you on that bitcoin without being called fraudulent right and then when you go to sell it, they're going to give you the lowest price. You know that you can possibly get when you sell it probably won't be that bad they make it coming and going how might be one? percent or whatever. It's not going to make one percent or the one persona make one percent coming in one percent going and. Then, people don't complain. Divine by no means is that the largest complain about this they can make some money on it. Good for them I. Hope they do square cash or cash APP, it's called square the company behind that has made bitcoin. It's number one revenue source and it's hip to be them and I don't know if square started with bitcoin withdrawal. So they may have also started where you couldn't withdraw the bitcoin. and. Then changed it to where you could. Because now you can. If you've got a square cash APP account, you can purchase bitcoin and you can withdraw it from that system into your own while which is the way that pay pal ought to do it. But for right now as CTO OF CASA Jamison Lop says, it's not really crypto that pay pals making available I o us in other words now. Your Keys, not your coin, it's not your keys. It's not your coin and what that Means Ladies and gentlemen is that Bitcoin has public and private key. Your public key is the address to which you send Bitcoin and you can put it anywhere in the Internet and it's completely safe. All people can do is send money to you right and which is a good thing. you private key on the Other hand has the ability to withdraw from the account. So the he has the ability to deposit the private key is that ability to withdraw and if the ability to withdraw, it's not your money pay pal will hold your private keys and they'll do what they want with them. If the government comes along and says, freeze that account YEP, they will freeze it in. There will be nothing you can do. The blog post from treasurer, the city labs, the company behind tresor wasted no time telling people not to use pay pal for bitcoin quote with a household name like pay pal starts selling bitcoin it's probably not because they want to spur healthy adoption they said in their blog post will pay more on the way here our two is coming up it's free talk live and bitcoins on top again remember when you first heard about bitcoin how long did it take you to realize this little projects with soon changed the world the you Kinda wish you had gotten involved sooner. Well, now's your chance to be a part of the next revolution in money enter coin is working. So finally make crypto. Go mainstream it's designed to be scalable enough to support everyday payments in even elections without the state bitcoin was originally supposed to be a peer to peer cash system. The way would pay one another without having to trust any third party, but instead over time in mostly became a store of value that's because every ten minutes the bitcoin network must put all transactions into a block in that blocking only hold so much if crypto is to become mainstream for people to use it for everyday payments, we need a new architecture one that is as secure as bitcoin while being far more scalable checkout enter coin dot org to find out more and maybe pick up some of those coins for yourself. With you here in the studio tonight, you've got in nobody and mark. We're talking about the world of crypto currency and specifically bitcoin being adopted by pay pal which is. got. Some coverage on the show here last night but the detail that didn't get covered because well, pay pal didn't include this detail in their press release that everybody was reporting on. Yesterday, and again, this is big news I. Don't I'm not trying to diminish the fact that this is still big news for Bitcoin. The fact that a mega company like pay pal is embracing crypto currency is pretty much unprecedented. I guess the president would be would be square but squares still kind of a newer kid in the finance game compared to pay pal PELS Bay pels like finance on line finance at this point I. Mean they're they're the late nineties paypal went through the dot com boom back in the day and they survived it unlike so many others. So it's Ian. Nobody and mark here in the studio. Tonight, we were talking about this disappointment A lot of people are not so happy with pay pal because they're not going to let you withdraw the Bitcoin as pointed out in the Saito she labs blog post. Those are the guys who are behind the treasurer hardware while it great hardware while a big fan of. That product they say when a household name like paypal start selling Bitcoin, it's probably not because they want to spur healthy adoption they continued in their posting the only reasons to own bitcoin which cannot be used would to invest for the long term, which is incredibly reckless to do and your funds are held by a third party or to speculate on its price, which again would be introducing the masses to financial mechanisms that they don't understand. Nobody understands things when they're first exposed to them. True Ripple CEO Brad Gargling House admitted that it was quote great to see a payment pioneer leaning in but noted further that it was quote disappointing that some fundamental tenets and benefits of Crypto are spurned unquote. He then pivoted to like you gotta be able to spend maybe they're just gonNA use it as a store of value. Maybe. But that takes away the point of Bitcoin. Exactly. Well, it what it does allow you to do from what I'm hearing here that you can take your bitcoin and turn it into US dollars through. Pay Pal relatively quickly and easily and I would expect them to do that. It's pay pal that can go to your bank account and then everything's fine. So I would expect you to take a hit in doing so and it probably isn't going to be the cheapest way to turn your bitcoin into USD but it's going to be a way to do it and that that's a feature I'm not gonNA call it anything else I guess I in hearing this I am disappointed but not surprised. Because bitcoin really is the thing that could take everything from paypal pay pal is. Behind Western Union and written maintenances, companies The you know the the number one thing that crypto currencies could destroy, which is sort of a peer to peer banking system online. In the case of the details here it says that pay pal plans to allow users to actually use bitcoin for payments though merchants will receive dollars rather than BTC. So that answers one of the questions we had earlier about what's going to look like for the seller. What's this going to look like for the person who has the pay pal account that's accepting bitcoin from his users According to this, it's just auto convert. So you won't even get to see a bitcoin balance on your pay pal account. There will be no bitcoin for you to pretend to even hold if this. Guy In the Nazis Bitcoin for you they want it for themselves well. They got US dollars right. So that's the status of the pay pal situation it's still big news and it is subject to change if there's enough pushback if enough people come to pay pal and say, Hey, hey, you said you were gonNA. Let us accept. Bitcoin what do you mean? You're going to convert it automatically I want to do except to bitcoin. and. Then if they allow people to actually hold a balance in crypto currency, then the next step is going to be that some enough people are going to want to withdraw. So I can still see a path forward for papal. They can still make this right. They can still fix this system. It may be them just testing the waters to see what kind of reaction they get from their users, how many people want to hear more. About this when I saw the pay the pay pal press release, I was looking at it last night down towards the bottom. There was a little link where you could indicate that you were interested in this feature. So I indicated that I was interested in in that feature I. Prob-. Probably won't really use it but I'm curious to see you know what are they gonNA come out with I'd like to know I I'd like to be. On the. Advanced track on on those developments. So Kudos, to pay pal for making an initial I would say correct choice this is a good move overall to legitimize bitcoin, get people talking about it but hopefully, enough people will be asking the question of wait I thought I could accept it. You'RE NOT GONNA. Let me actually keep the thing that you're letting my customers pay me with. So I expect they're gonNA get some push back on this. Anyway there's your news about the pay PAL news. Now, of course, the other news is that Bitcoin is getting a lot of attention again, what would the price now being epat over thirteen thousand dollars per bitcoin? I was just going back to look and see. There's chart over at coin market cap dot. COM is one of these websites Kinda keeps a keeps an eye on the price of crypto currencies, various different ones, and you can zoom in on different dates. So I'm looking at twenty seventeen, which was back when bitcoin hit nineteen thousand dollars. For for just a moment, right it wasn't a very long time. So looks like on December Sixth of two, thousand, seventeen, the price was about twelve thousand, four, hundred dollars. It then shot up to over thirteen thousand up to seventeen thousand and down again backups it looks like it was for a couple of weeks there. The price was above thirteen thousand dollars. You basically only have about two weeks worth of TA. Two weeks. It looks like about two weeks from from what I'm seeing here. Only because the I know that the sort of the timeframe from being from like seventeen thousand to twenty thousand was just hours, right? Yeah. Actually it looks like more like three weeks there was another week later where it's still kind of held up above thirteen. Yeah you're right. So basically, there was a month less than a month time where if you bought ten plus years yeah. Bitcoin where if you bought bitcoin and sold it You know you probably are out some money. If you're still holding onto that bitcoin keep holding I would say because. Things are looking pretty good. If pay pals coming on bought in at twenty thousand, some people I know did. You. I mean, you're not gonNA WANNA hold when it finally hits twenty again be like sell sell I want my money back but. I you'll be you'll be sorry I think. I. Think you'll regret it. Yeah. I don't like to predict what the future will hold, but the past suggests that crypto currency is wrong is going to continue. Yeah. We've been doing this trip. Oh currency thing long enough that it's impossible not to develop some opinions and. You know my opinion isn't to sell the twenty thousand. It's closer to selling it like sixty thousand. Maybe even thinking about setting up a divvy master now you can do it the hard way if you want or you can just do it the easy few clicks. And you're they make it so easy to set up a master node with divvy I've done it and both ways I have not done it the Hardaway you had somebody at the heart I had somebody who knows how to do those things do it EASILY, ask somebody to do it easily ask somebody. Yes that's is but not everybody knows Michael Hampton and so therefore, if you don't know somebody who can set do things to hardaway can easily set up a master no. Through the divvy wallet through their full note Wallet, which you can download over at Debbie Project DOT or Dvi Project Dot Org I've done master node setups with You know the hard way with other crypto currencies in it's not easy, but it is with divvy so get started over at. TV Project DOT ORG if you get stuck, they got telegram channel where you can interact directly with the divvy crew. You can also buy divvy from me exchanges and or directly from the team, which is probably the smartest way I think to get the divvy because then you're not pushing up the price when you make the purchase on an exchange, I like the return from divvy I'm just sort of impressed with the numbers that as they've been coming and It just happened to go up this year I mean you never know where the price of things is is going to do but he did have a very good few months earlier this year down since then though so it might be a good time. To look at it head over to D project DOT ORG as we continue here with the big news, and that is that Bitcoin is big news. Again, lots of people are talking about it. It's showing up in headlines. It's over thirteen thousand dollars per bitcoin as of earlier today and that of course has a lot of people talking fact Forbes magazine has a piece from Stephen Erlich on the Forbes Staff Bitcoin is on the move again price to just above thirteen percent is up eighty percent on the year just above thirteen thousand you mean did I not say that thirteen thousand, six to thirteen percent thirteen, thousand dollars say this again so I can. Just above thirteen thousand dollars it's up eighty percent on the year, which is outpacing the year to date returns from leading equity performers in the S. and P. Five, hundred including the most infamous. Fang. Members. Fang I guess is facebook Apple. Amazon. Whatever the end is flexible. Yeah. NETFLIX's probably. In fact, has recently surpassed mighty Amazon looking broadly at leading market indices, bitcoins performance. This year's even more impressive. It's almost tripling the Nasdaq one hundred, which is up thirty, two percent right everybody who's complaining the Jeff Bezos how much Jeff bezos made over the pandemic had every opportunity to buy bitcoin beforehand and do better and what it Oreo say to do on the air I mean I don't make investment re suggestions but she said if you were going to get that twelve hundred dollar check, you ought to put it into cryptocurrency and or gold, and if you had done that, you would have done better than twelve hundred dollars now this year. So. Nasdaq one hundred up thirty, two percent well, bitcoin is nearly tripled down additionally outperforming the S. and P. Five, hundred by sixteen, hundred percent all the Dow. Jones. Industrial Average remains in negative territory is. So what's behind this recent surge? The catalysts could have been yesterday's announcement that pay pal will allow its millions of US customers to purchase bitcoin along with ether light quantum bitcoin cash directly from its APP additional. Additionally, the company said it would expand its crypto support to its payments APP then Mo, and make the offering available internationally in twenty twenty one but that's not all. That's announcement is the capstone to several pieces of bullish news for bitcoin including major institutional allocations from publicly listed companies, and these are the more important things than pay pal. Pay Pal I. Mean I guess people find a tangible because they have a pay pal account or whatever, and I'm not saying it's small news but read off these publicly traded companies that are now. Having Holdings I. There's No. It doesn't have a list. The list sitting in front of me either here. But there are several publicly traded companies that have come out and said, we're buying bitcoin. Yeah we're holding bitcoin because. Like I said previously in the show, there's just no place else to go for your with your money right now. So multibillion dollar asset managers also such as square micro strategy and Stone Ridge asset management are I guess there's three of them are you'd ask for them square. The last time the price of Bitcoin was this high during the climb was during the down from the twenty seventeen two thousand eighteen crypto bubble that saw its price approach twenty thousand while there's no guarantee Bitcoin, we'll revisit that lofty perch anytime soon, industry insiders are cautiously optimistic due to the more gradual ascent taking place in two thousand twenty rather than the sharp peaks and valleys from a few years ago. So it's been a more. Deliberate climb over time. Yeah. But I mean, we've seen deliberate climbs, and then what happens after the deliberate climbs as people like this is the way to make money and then they people start buying and buying and buying, and that runs parabolic and then something happens and. It falls down again. Now. When I say falls down When it falls down, it usually falls down to something several times whence it came. Anytime something is rising. That fast it's going to be a bubbly rise there's going to be. There's going to be volatility on the way up nothing goes in a straight line because you know it's like the old thing when when the doorman in your building starts talking to you about stock, it's time to sell. because. Over a soul, he thinks he knows something about stock that actually happened to me on Bitcoin now I I have no intention of of just divesting. Of the, you know the crypto currencies for the funds that I manage or whatever I'm not going to be doing that but. I had a situation where the guy at the movie theater. Serving me popcorn. told me that bitcoins. down. and. I'm like by this guy has this guy has an opinion on bitcoin which means I now have to. Reallocate the way I'm. Handling my investments because it the shoeshine because it was, you said the doorman but the the old story is wants the shoeshine kit is asking is talking to you or you stock tips on a particular item it's time to sell. That's how old that. That's that saying is back to the days of Shoeshine Voice Yeah Yeah I've never seen one of those a shoe somebody doing shoeshine. I see him every now and then there's like. To the airport, but they're not boys strongmen doing them. They look like they were boys You know fifty years ago they learned that well. Don't we? All Right So. Macroeconomic. Sorry back to the story here from Forbes. They're saying that this time it might be different. The gradual ascent has people excited macro economic trends such as massive inflationary spending from central banks are debasing Fiat currencies that seems like it will make it inevitable. That these things will rise in price overall network health such as record numbers of active accounts and computer power being used to secure the network. There's a lot of excitement in Bitcoin, but also a lot to digest our toll free number here is eight, fifty, five, four, hundred, fifty, free. Because, I don't think anyone else was in any Dr. No, I would not think so. But it was it was going to be amazing shutter. It was a great show. So Mark Your Calendars, June twenty eighth July Fourth Twenty twenty one fork fast dot party other big news in the world of technology. Google. Has Been Sued by the Justice Department according to the story by Scott chequered at reason, dot com this week the justice so-called Justice Department Department of Justice joined by. Governments of eleven states filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google in which they accused the Internet search company of quote, unlawfully maintaining monopolies in the markets for General Search Services Search advertising, and General Search advertising in the United States through anti-competitive and exclusionary practices unquote. Now, obviously, I have not resins bad. The sixty four page lawsuits that contends that Google owns or controls roughly eighty percent of the market. That's not a monopoly. nope. If you have eighty percent of the market. That means that you're not a monopoly monopoly is the only right mono meaning the prefixed their meaning. Only there's a single provider of whatever product or service we're talking about our other search providers still in business. Yes, they are. Yeah. So What Google perhaps is it? What they certainly are as a market maker is a better terminology for what they are. They are the search engine by which everyone else is judged by. Is that the term is market maker means now a market maker is somebody who trades on both sides of the same commodity so he'll like. Sell sell something at provides. Something at yeah. It's like a pawnshop does with coins He provides quantity, but he buys it a sweater at a lower rate than he sells and and cleans up on convenience I think you mean market leader maybe market leader yeah. I I was listening to a debate between Peters feel and What's the guy from whole foods John mackey John mackey and mackey used the term market maker to describe Google but I think you're right. Market leader perhaps is the dominant in the marketplace. I mean there's no doubt as as the story. Looked up invested Pedia I. Mean Your definition is a Good. So again, they are dominant in the marketplace by far according to the lawsuit, they account for ninety percent of all the searches in the united. States and ninety five percent of all mobile searches, which is understandable given that they you know dominate the mobile phone market as well. These scale at which Google operates and it's exclusionary agreements. The lawsuit argues mar makes it a massive barrier to entry for rivals and innovators which in turn make it harder for newcomers to access its customer base and essentially forces anybody who wants to do business online to use google. Well. I don't think that's true at all. I don't use Google as far as business online is concerned I don't have we have in the past and I don't want to give them any money and I don't feel like it was particularly effective. Honestly. So I I, I rarely do business with Google. They do have some huge market share I. mean really the thing to debate though is is having a lot of market share a bad thing and I would say, no. Well. Earned it as a guy who does not use google regularly as a search search engine I use start page and I use it for philosophical reasons. But You know there are times when I'm tempted, there are times when I switched back to Google because it's just a better interface and it does the things I wanted to do better than start page US start page protects me in so much as I'm not. Being profiled and you know Google is in putting together a big profile of me through star page so I have that level of protection but every once in a while. There's just it. was just a better way to do it. So for instance, you search you know. Whatever converting metric to imperial Google's going to pull a tool right there for you. You don't have to click again. It's their right. So there aren't any many search engines that do that. It's nice. I'd say it's it's a bell and it's a bell or or possibly a whistle So yeah, you usually you want to get the whole search engine thing down I mean Google has for a company that started out with A. With a motto of don't Be Evil I think that came later. And then they got rid of it relatively. Well, vaguely definitely got rid of they had it for a long time and they yeah, they had an underdogs attitude for a long time as I recall and and they did a really good job. I think they did become quite evil. In that I think they're a huge part of the media manipulation game. That's going on Don't forget conspiring with China to keep its citizens as ignorant as possible of Tiananmen Square and yeah, that's where they started to go. Wrong. That was the first thing and then they just wou So you know Ami Trust is stupid. But if it's GONNA happen to somebody, Google would be out in my would be among my top choices along with Bill Gates. I find facebook somehow more distasteful. FACEBOOK would be on my shortlist to that's way less useful I, mean facebook doesn't do much besides blow your time away Google at the very least you can find things used to I remember when facebook helped me do all kinds of connection sure. Van They used to help you. Yeah. They used to help you promote events used to be able to like click and invite all your friends to a thing can't do that anymore. But as far as anything that facebook does, that's useful these days not so much whereas Google, you know there's all kinds of useful things. That Google does so. That's why I use email but I, think because the do good more ubiquitous. I looked I watched a source of this because they do more when I was in anarchy Pulkovo. Watching a speech from a guy who's basically like how to unplug from the Internet and He's his opinion on facebook is it's pretty easy. I mean, yes delete the account and go away facebook. A bullet they won't let you delete you can. You can only deactivate the deactivated but you because it's not your data. That's right. Sometimes, there'll be websites that will let you use facebook to sign in or something like that. So you know there's the biggest impediment to the whole thing and it's not that big of an impediment, right? Well, if you didn't use facebook to sign in the first place than it is no was not even a factor right and whereas with Google. Getting up getting out from under Google that's hard much much harder if you want to carry a cell phone. But it was your choice to get in the first place and are still other ways to go about it. So it doesn't meet the definition of monopoly, but that may not matter when it comes to the government because well, they wrote the rules it's their courts it's their system it's. J- it's their prosecutor. You know it's GonNa be hard but then again, Google can afford a few attorneys. So we'll tell you more about the soon coming up here in moments. This is free talk. Live. Free Talk Live, you dial toll free if you want, you can join us here the numbers eight, fifty, five, four, fifty free like freedom. That's eight, five, five, four, five, zero, three, seven, three, three in the studio. Tonight you've got in nobody Denmark. All right. So we've been talking about this lawsuit, the Federal Government, and apparently also eleven state governments together filed a so-called antitrust lawsuit against Google claiming that because Google is big that they are tantamount to monopoly, which, of course, we know the definition of monopoly. We know that's not true who you could argue all day long about. What the definition of monopoly is but that doesn't really mean well, none of us are arguing we all agree, right it's something that has total control over again, we cannot arguing with your. I mean politicians about it, what I think the big concern. Are they, violating, antitrust law. Generally I mean to me the only time you actually see a a monopoly is when a total monopoly is when they're the only legal seller, it's when the government. Is the government or the one that the government says can do it like a power company power company. In some places some places will let you know some people resell the power very rare that you'll see competing power companies in any given than it used to be. Where around here can you find that? You can get billed by different companies for power around here? Yeah. Okay. What you're talking about is believed the supplier not confuse transmission, right? So New Hampshire has done some decentralisation or some deregulation when it comes to allowing competition in the world up the supplier of the power but the the power company is still the monopoly on the lines and the monopoly on the transmission of that power. So it's by no means is you know free? Producer necessarily. Sometimes they that's true. and that's what we need to see more of regardless the toll free number here. If you want to join us, it's eight, fifty, five, four, hundred, fifty free like freedom and free talk live is brought to you by any pay we mentioned them earlier. Because, it's not it's not easy to get into the financial system. It's not easy to get and maintain a pay pal account or a bank account or one of these old money systems. But Man, is it easy to get in any pay count? You just go to any paying dot com any pay I N C DOT COM and get over there and you are ready to accept crypto currency at your local. Business or your online business because any any pay now offers the ability to do a wordpress our they call it There's a wordpress woo commerce. That's what is the week we'll commerce is the number one payments platform for wordpress. wordpress is the number one content management system for the Internet. So talking about the lawsuit been filed sixty four page lawsuit against Google saying that they control roughly eighty percent of the market for search ninety percent of all searches in the US ninety, five percent of all mobile searches and arguing that and the reason for that is is not only do they run their own software for phones android They also pay apple to be their default search engine for six or whatever you read this article. Because, that was the next paragraph Irene. Kind of my job that was the next part of this particular. Why didn't know you had this on your show prep but that's the next point here that they're going to make is that Google does agreement that has google search engine being the default in Apple's web browser. The lawsuit acknowledges that while iphone users are free to change the default search engine few do. About, half of the lawsuit seems to be focused entirely on Google's dominance over the mobile phone search tools. Lawsuit also notes that while Google once prided itself as the turnstile to the Internet for organic searches, its power to place advertising at the top of searches for those who are willing to pay money pushes those who aren't willing to pay down on page of search results. Well, Duh how else are they supposed to make that work for people? Yeah. I mean. At this point if you don't know how Google works, you're not trying to know how Google work. It also says advertisement or whatever license right up there right sponsored or whatever. It says right there. When you search for the thing, the sponsored content comes up first and then you can go down to the search results and why should it be anyway besides that right people this is the most fascinating thing about Americans and people like ladies and gentlemen you didn't pay anything for the Internet you cheapskate. Deserve this. This is not a human, right? Okay. Right like you were using something for free and yes, advertisers paid for this. Google could just shut off. You know if they didn't want to deal with any of this crap from any of these governments anymore, they could just be like well, good night. Turn. Off All the servers and just go away and then you wouldn't have any google search everybody although you'd have another search somebody was immediately. would. Already, have other searches, but you know other. Would cause because people do invest but would the world be a better place? I think so. I mean. A lot of wasted time on people having to run around and reset their mail servers and reset because right now, free talk live. If you email market freetalklive dot com, you know an advertisement or something that goes through it comes through our domain name which you know we have control over but we've pointed that domain at Google's mail servers because they're the ones who are handling the male side. and. If Google shuts just decides they're gonNa shut down well, then we gotta find another male's system we've got to put. Chat this time. Right I mean. As, much as I dislike, Gujral Chinese Chinese company. And No. We'd probably just start around mail server we would but it would take time. It would take effort saying is is that what Richard saying is this is true right. If Google shuts down tonight tomorrow morning, a company will be a rising to the top and pretty soon we'll, and by the way that company will then within the next two years do all the evil crap that we just talked about who will doing or they'd offer paid service. Right, like you're either going to be the product, right we're Google minds your data, they mind you they mind for information they make money off of that information or the other company that would compete would be offering paid tears. There's Proton mail out there you can get you can pay for you know e mail service if that's what you WanNa do I have Proton Mail me too and I use their free service, but I have bought stuff from them. I mean I haven't really. I. Just don't like their their mail as much as I like Ci Mail you know, and that's the problem is google provide some really good products they put a lot of development money into that stuff you know. Going on as a result, these organic links are being demoted. This also crowds out third party advertising from Google searches, but again, Google isn't obligated to give third party advertising providers any. Time or any you know display or anything like that. If they WANNA filter that crap out they can filter that out results this is the same old saw that has been so. Useful for decades now, which is basically what they're trying to say here is the Google is not. Recognizing your human rights to email searches and That's not what that's what they're saying I, mean you know they're they're basically saying. They're saying that they okay. The when you search your searching. I stuff and what you want is some kind of an objective result and Google doesn't give you an objective result that what they feel like hiding they lie about what they feel like lightning about so. There's not scummy they are they're scummy how they are scummy, but that's not what the Justice Department saying the things that Google's hiding the things that the Justice Department wants them to hide among other things and. So you know. This is this is more. This is something know. Fighting in the pod here and this is going to do I'm just GonNa, go out on a limb here. Make a prediction if Google is ruled against in this case if they don't win this lawsuit, then that'll probably mean they'll be forced to break up. and. So you'll see Google mail will become its own thing and then google phones will become its own. They'll just they'll still have all these corporations or whatever. They'll just be separated. Yes or whatever whatever that means and the shareholders are get different stocks. All this'll be done in Dr in back rooms. You never get a chance to even talk about there's not gonNA politicians trial they'll pat themselves on the back. It'll be like we took down Google course Google will still exist just in. Under different names, the way they took down Ma Belle remember when blackwater changed its name Z. and changed its name to something else nobody knows what they're called. Now they've lost track, they've changed names, enough times and. Everything's different. Now it's not. So if you WanNa comment and you can hear our toll free numbers eight, fifty, five, four, fifty free but that said there's more here about what they're asking. In this lawsuit, we'll get into it from story at reason, dot com view on a way in you're welcome to do that well, again, toll free numbers eight, fifty, five, 453, coming up an attack on a bar or restaurant that had karaoke. So going back to this lawsuit Google being sued by the Federal Government Eleven states the plaintiffs according to reason dot com. Are asking the US District Court in the District of Columbia to declare that Google is operating in violation of section two of the Sherman Act, which is the federal antitrust law to stop Google from engaging in the so-called anti-competitive practices as described in the lawsuit and force Google to quote restore competitive conditions in the markets affected by Google's unlawful conduct. The Justice Department to Restore Competitive Competition in justice in America and They claim to have monopoly on violence maybe it's time to give them some competition. By the way I saw the documentary a by the same name. Recently, I don't know if you guys have heard about -opoly unviolable somebody Peter. King Yana, who is one of the talk show podcast hosts on dot FM he's got his own show. We are at their He came out with this video. He's one of the CO producers of it, and it costs like thirty thousand dollars to put together and they had some real professional help with it. It looks great It's well shot well edited well, put together about an. Hour and forty five minutes long. It's about libertarianism basically and and the government and the nature of the state, and you know well done I I saw it over the weekend and it was one of those things that I've been meaning to get around to and finally had an excuse to do it. It came out over the summer came back in June and so if you're looking for a good kind of introduction to the state of the state basically and right hind how it's bad this is a pretty good one. Check it out the the idea so. For those of you, that doubt that government is an organization, the claims of monopoly privilege in the use of violence and then given landmass, and that's that's the definition that we use here on free talk live but it by no means our own definition is just very clear. So Barack Obama was quoted before he got into the White House you can go look Barack Obama monopoly on violence on. Youtube. It's still there last time I looked and you can watch video and you can watch varying lengths of this video. He wants five minutes of it and you can watch a minute and a half of it. Well, you can just watch like seventeen seconds of it yet, and in it, he would basically say something to the effect of Hummer that's what separates the nation state from other organizational models is A. Monopoly on violence right and twenty seven that's what he said and and he's right away. said it because it's the truth is one rare time when a politician told, the truth was going to say that's not. I mean if a politician says something that's true. It's a coincidence. That's why they're saying the funny thing is that I shared this at a quaker group on facebook obviously, it's been some time again and like. All kinds of detail. Yeah. Didn't want to see it contortions to avoid. Taking him out of context. The longer version of the video here you don't like that one listen to this longer version. In fact, that's the truth and you know like they just didn't want to hear it because quakers like. Lots of quakers many in many cases are leftists. So they don't want to hear that whatever social program they believe in the social program does your is funded by threats of coercion invite they don't WanNa. Hear that. And they don't even. Know about like in Brown. Wouldn't wouldn't care. I mean in most cases, it'd be like Oh most aquifers. These days are leftists in many cases I mean that's by enlarge. There's. There's plenty of Libertarian left quakers out there but. How many of your meeting? One too. Yeah. Mike meetings probably half okay. That's more than I expected. Yeah. All right back to the story the Justice Department attorneys have been investigating companies like Google. Apple. Amazon facebook and others potential antitrust lawsuits for years and today's filing didn't catch the company off guard can't Walker Google Senior Vice President, and company's chief legal officer described the Justice Department's effort. As quote, a deeply flawed lawsuit that would do nothing to help consumers. He says people use government or. Government Google, but I repeat myself because they choose to. Not. Because they're forced to or because they can't find alternatives unquote unlike government they're forced to used government services. I think Google places itself very well to be used and has a very good product. They're smart however ladies and gentlemen you need to know what your trading when you go for free Internet searches. Tonight you've got Ian Nobody and mark a we've been talking about the big lawsuit against a big company Google has been targeted by antitrust lawsuit by the US so-called. Department of Justice. As well as the state governments from eleven states. And they are making allegations against Google saying they're a so-called monopoly, which of course we know is not true. But what will the judge think or what will the jury think not sure if it's going to be heard by jury yet at this point? Google says they were expecting this and they say that the Justice Department's effort is quote a deeply flawed lawsuit that will do nothing to help consumers. They say people use Google because they choose to not because they're forced to or because they can't find alternatives. A ban by the story from reason DOT com. people use Google in many cases, not all Google's great search engine. If that's what you're judging it by but in some cases, they use it simply because opting. There are opting out harder than opting in. And we'll go. By default yeah. Hey. For that. Now, android is another matter It's. Can you buy a phone doesn't have android on it? You can have an apple. Yeah you come. There are other phones you could root them too. So you can ruin. You've still paid paid for the software even if you theft throw it away. You value don't run it sure unless you buy the phone second on the secondary market well, you still paying for the software you know extended overhead I mean, but people use, but you're not getting your meetings of the price yet but you're not incriminating the the number people who's paid for the software buy on the secondary market if you buy a used farm that's already been purchased by another person. So you're not at the very least buying a brand new piece of software and yeah, we used to call that the windows tax when it was impossible to buy a computer that didn't have windows on it, and even if you were going to run Lennox you had to. Still, get a key for windows Yeah or you you could build one from parts that was about it. Then they started bundling building a laptop from parts well, yeah. You can't do that very well, no good building, a cellphone for parts right and there are some people who've been talking about these more independently minded cell phones I. Don't know if any of them have actually come out yet. I know McAfee was was pimping one but half the things probably ninety percent of the things, McAfee pimps never actually come to fruition pine phone is supposed to be real. That's supposed to be Olympics phone is is it out I? Don't know if it's out but I think it's like. It is. Seen them don't think it's it's out public. Well, let me know how that how that pans out. I'm interested in those alternatives the very least you can get a phone and route it, and there's some simple relatively simple systems for doing this. Google is android phone pretty far. Then if you want to do anything to do a lot of things on it, you have to sign in your Google hello and a lot of cases yet That's true. So about the accusations of a special deal with apple because again the allegations are that if you buy an iphone than the default search engine is Google and that's because they got a deal walker explains the Google Google guy he says arguments with apple and other device makers and carriers are no different from the agreements that many other companies have traditionally used to distribute software other search engines including Microsoft's bing compete with us for these agreements and agreements have passed repeated antitrust reviews Yep. Walker notes that in fact competitor's being Yahoo also paid have their search tools featured on the iphone browser when I opened my iphone safari browser this is the guy writing reason not me The icons of both being and Yahoo are right there next to Google. But if I just type words into the search bar above without clicking on an icon, it will automatically default to Google for searches and that's because they paid them more. That's the reason why so not having an iphone and not getting one anytime soon. Do you want to search on Yahoo or being do you have to do that every time or if you touch the? You know the the icon is that now your Default, they've never used it. You can change your default search I would suspect. A setting some I have on my browser on my laptop I'm using start page, but that's probably not an option in the IOS, not Walker also makes the case that customers use Google because they want to not because they have to by noting that people down low two, hundred and four or downloaded two hundred and four billion APPs in two thousand nineteen people are more than capable of figuring out how to access and use alternatives. If that's what they want as evidence, he notes the Mozilla. Firefox users who quickly figured out how To switch their default browser to Google after Mozilla entered into an agreement to make Yahu, the the browsers, sorry. The browsers default search engine, and so I will say this I have installed fire Fox. I've installed a on Lenox systems and I've seen this happen where it's not Google by default and I will I will take the extra steps I'll look the process of how do I change my default system and I will switch away from WHO and and go back to Google similarly I made don't use Google search engine generally but You know. There are times when it's just a better search. Well, a lot of times nobody is absolutely correct or earlier when he said that they exclude certain things and they definitely do there are certain results you won't find on Google. For whatever political reason they just aren't there they've been blackballed essentially and so you do need to go and have other alternatives to if you want to get a real full range on what the search results are supposed to be. But again, that's buyer beware it's not it's not Google's obligation to return unfiltered search results. They're gonNA add in advertisers and they're gonNA, take out the things that they wanna take out and there are other alternatives out there that to me means they're bad search engine. Yeah. Yeah and I think you get to make your definition right if you want. If you're going to judge your restaurant based on how quickly they get. Your food to you maybe McDonalds is the best restaurant in the room I don't know I mean what do you use nobody? What do I use them? I used duck duck go okay I've heard that's a good one. Yeah. It has better protection or it. It doesn't sal as much as your information. You know you don't find that. You know the facebook ads for what you just searched for on duck duck go don't. They don't book doesn't start advertising to you when you just searched for on duck duck go. Concern you're talking about it because then Google phone will listen to you. Send it off to the government. Yeah, and that's another reason that I will be delighted if they actually take some some action against Google, even though I don't believe that that there should be antitrust laws There's a Lotta evil things about. Google. I don't mind seeing them get getting smack DAB. Stop giving these people the benefit of the doubt and I think that this is just a dog and pony show. This isn't going to do anything significant I I don't I mean what the evil government's GonNa punish the evil Google. I. Bar brought by the justice so-called Justice Department and eleven state governments. The spokesperson for Google in this case is Kent Walkers Google Senior Vice President in their chief lawyer. He makes the case that Google customers use Google because they want to not because they have to ensure they say google is arguing that its domination of the market is actually organic. It is giving people what they want as an consumers needs are being satisfied. Those claims will be important in the case because the Justice Department will need to prove that consumers and markets. are being harmed by Google's domination despite the length of the suit, the focus is actually pretty narrow. The Justice Department seems really focused on opening up mobile browser access advertising searches, and fighting these exclusionary agreements. This doesn't actually appear to be a break-up Google lawsuit and it doesn't seem terribly interested in engaging in claims from conservatives that Google is censoring them by fiddling with search algorithms or otherwise hiding certain results. So if they're not trying to break up Google, then they must be just looking for a payday. Yeah. Just fine right. Here's your fine. Fine. But as the New York Times notes other or to stop the bad practices and pay a fine. As the New York Times notes and other attorney generals in other states. Of their own some big states like Texas and Florida have signed onto the Justice Department lawsuit but others like California New York not this shouldn't be taken to mean that leaders of these states aren't making plans at their own however as Andrea assault recently observed, there's a push among Democrats, too broad an antitrust law so that it can be used to enforce sociopolitical economic goals not just to protect consumers from monopolies. It may well be that other states didn't sign on here precisely because the Justice Department isn't trying to dismantle Google. So this may be the first in a series of lawsuits targeting the search giant. Well, they handle the EU. Just fine. So what happened there? You know privacy issues a couple of rollover and basically allow the e U. to force them to remove things if somebody wants them remains some kind of compromise but I don't know how it all works out. So. There you go. That's what's happening with Google being targeted, and we'll keep you up. To date as that continues to develop. Toll free numbers eight, fifty, five, four, hundred, fifty, free well I've been wondering. When is Karaoke, you're gonNA. Comeback. Mark nobody all three of us have done a myriad of Karaoke. Keen it was one of our I would say favorite group pastimes. There have been times where we've gone to local watering holes and with a group of liberty activists and many people would get up on stage. We even had Karaoke nights at the old keen activists center on a number of occasions. So Karaoke is near endures a certainly to my heart as something go out there and do nobody loves karaoke like you do. And We've all had a good time seeing some fun stuff up there and when's the last time Karaoke happened in anywhere. Let alone New Hampshire. He's just too dangerous. Well, certainly, that's what they want you to believe. It's amazing that they want you to believe that I mean not to say that I don't understand that they're now claiming that vid the CDC is now claiming the covy leads an airborne virus months after everybody already knew that but. I mean. The. Ladies and gentlemen, there are Jujitsu studios across America that are opened back up. If. You can roll around on a wrestling mat and sweat into another man's is. Speaking from experience. I've had more than one drop of link. Hit me right in the eyeball because you know I mean you're close you know you're taking your risks think. Like then like this is the nonsense that goes on with this, I'm not saying that there isn't a virus I'm not saying that it's not transcendent miserable. What I'm saying is is that people need to be able to make decisions and their lives about how they're going to live their lives and. When the government makes those decisions, it makes them in stupid ways. Well you can't make that. Make those decisions well for anyone else because you don't have the same values that they do a. Set of values is like a fingerprint or no two exactly alike everybody's different. Everybody has different preferences. Everybody has different risk tolerances, different levels of risk they're willing to take in different areas. So I'm not interested in jumping out of an airplane that's just not the kind of risk I'm into but I am interested in taking risk and other ways by say challenging the status quo of the state as it is and possibly being targeted by. Them, as a result of that, but you know doing a bungee jump not so interested. Yeah. You'll get arrested for civil disobedience a heck of a lot faster than you jump out of an airplane and there's lots of people that jumped out of an airplane that wouldn't arrested for civil disobedience. Exactly. So in this case, there are people who would be happy to go out there and either perform Karaoke Ian share a microphone with other people. Hey look this. There are solutions I share this microphone that I am using right Al from which into which I am speaking is used by. This is a solvable problem though sure if you were to let the market solve it yes it would be a solvable problem but that's not what we have in the United States and in many parts of the world instead we have a bunch of government gangsters telling every business that they have to do it the same way. Yeah and so in Hudson New Hampshire, which is a town in New Hampshire that has greater population than the city of keene. Strange. But that's true. One local area restaurant here in New Hampshire and a town called Hudson has been issued a two thousand dollars civil penalty by the division of Public Health Services in a notice to fat cats which is a bar restaurants they don't really have technically bars because every bar in New Hampshire food but anyway, they are a restaurant slash bar that had karaoke. And apparently, they didn't follow the State's arbitrary guidelines that were being shoved down everybody's throat at the time. This was apparently according to guidelines have to try to follow it. Well, that's one of the things mark. That's really an interesting question because the term guys line does suggest that Oh you are trying to get from point A. to Point B. Guideline that someone said if you're going to hold onto it, if you'd like to help yourself get from point a to point B but you don't have to it's just a guideline. But. When it comes to the guidelines in the state governments of the United. States. They act like it's more than just a suggestion. They will send men with guns in to threaten you. As we saw in New Jersey and in Michigan state where they went after in Michigan. The old man is an in his seventies was barber for continuing to give haircuts when the state told him not to shocking ultimately by the way that guy one in superior or in Supreme Court Michigan and then there's the owners of the at Attila's Jim in one of the New Jersey towns that actually were thrown out from their own building and the state government locked the doors they changed the locks on the doors. These guys went in and busted the plywood off from the doors because they actually ended up taking the doors off the hinges. The owners of the the Jim took their own front doors off the hinges to stop the state from continuing to change the locks on the doors. And so then the state put up plywood to try to block them from coming in and they took off the plywood they kicked in the plywood doors. They also declared themselves a Republican. Headquarters in order to be have the protections of political. Protections actually, I haven't heard any update help. I haven't heard any updates since then yeah I. Don't know what they've been up to. It would be interesting to see if anything new is happening with the Attila's Jim. But you know there's been very little pushback when it comes to these so-called guidelines and I don't know how many if any of these businesses have actually sued over this. Now some have sued over certain things. But over the guidelines themselves has this stuff been challenged to where it's like. Yeah, I'd rather not follow your guidelines. Thank you very much. I'd like to allow my customers to make their own choices for themselves. Let people take a risk if that's what they WanNa do you WanNa play Karaoke Wanna come in and sing in front of a crowd you WanNa come in and watch you should be able to make those choices if it's a risk that should be up to you it's a risk to go drive somewhere it's a risk to drink alcohol it's a risk to do all kinds of things even Thousand Americans. Die Every single week of things besides covert. Yeah. and. Some of those consequences are natural and others are induced by the risks those people take. Well still I still wish we had a piece of real estate where we could do it here. Do Karaoke. Yeah. I if we if we add central square well, it's it's cold out there. That's true. I wouldn't say that there's no person who could not who you could not point to did something in their life that shorten their life in some way or could've killed right. Well could have killed, but I mean actually did shorten their life, right? Like you know like we all make decisions and some of those decisions. result. In you know presumably a better life that is shorter than the one that we would otherwise have under sort of optimal circumstances if you just sat around breathing deeply and eating lintels and then you know exercising the exact right mound or whatever it is you're supposed to do with hilarious if you died a burden like yeah, right. Borden. Boredom boredom. So the Attorney General in New Hampshire is a man named Gordon j McDonald and his offices bringing the two thousand dollars civil penalty against fat cats and its owner Tom VAUGHN McDonald's office states that Vaughan admitted that he moved. Karaoke indoors two to three weeks before the state's Covid nineteen guidelines were modified to allow restaurants to do so so is the Baroda fighting this in court I don't know because I don't think. They have a lot of charge them under do they know the governor's orders but the law would be the enabling statute that enables the governor to the orders in which if you violate any of the governor's orders, it is a misdemeanor charge. The question is, is that this is a civil penalty they're not charging him with the misdemeanor, right? So and also I would presume if you consider it to be a guideline that. Therefore if you don't consider it to be an order you. There's no intent to break the law, and so that's GonNa make it more difficult. If he fights, it will make it more difficult. On September. Fourth fat cats was given clearance to hold karaoke outside the restaurant as indoor performances at restaurants were still barred in New Hampshire at that time in addition, Karaoke performers had to bring their own microphones and equipment. How many Karaoke acts? How many singers which is usually just whatever random does are in the bar or whoever showed up to go to Karaoke? are going to have a spare microphones sitting around they can bring into plug ins probably more than you might think you go. You could bring microphones for everybody. I don't even have that many of them but Mike's aren't very expensive, but the average person is not equipped to do Karaoke. That's why they go out. To do that to do it somewhere else. Usually once they're they're they're still not equip. So the states, guidance was eventually modified and effective. October. Eighth Indoor performances by disc jockeys and solo performers were allowed as long as they stay eight feet apart from each other and from any table inside the restaurant. According to the notice vons the guy with the measuring tape. That's what I WANNA know who's GonNa go measure division of public, health, services, I what I'm amazed by how many times I see little stickers on the floor that say stay six feet Martin put eight fate apart from each other according to the notice von the owner stated he moved Karaoke inside in late September because the neighbors complained about the noise resulting in calls from the police and because the weather was getting cold authorities say von told them that performers were still required on anybody to get sick. They he said that performers were still required to bring own microphones but they claim that a DJ inform the state that he had to purchase six or seven additional microphones because most people did not bring their own because von moved Karaoke endorse early without show bad about them buying extra microphones to try to comply with the spirit of the law. Indecent, to get to bring your own. This it matters who owns this microphone because. My stapler. Might have been. Because von Moved Carioca endorse early without permission from the state as well as allowing people to participate without bringing their own equipment. So yeah. The whole idea that the DJ was even providing anything apparently the violation his restaurant was in violation of the state's covid nineteen guidelines. Last week, fat cats was shut down after New Hampshire health officials said at least seventeen covid nineteen cases are associated with an outbreak stemming from two people who were at the restaurant. The notice center were they singing Karaoke. Doesn't say the noticed how do you prove where somebody got a disease? You really feel that would be an interesting case in court cell phone tracking. Is, still you can't tell when. transmitted. If von wishes to. Sorry the notice into fat cats states the two thousand dollars civil penalty must be paid by October thirtieth. If vaughn wishes to challenge the penalty, he can negotiate a settlement with the attorney, General's office or request a hearing. So it sounds like an administrative hearing the an actual court hearing.
