"That Herbert isn't just gonna be a good quarterback in the National Football League. He may have just had the best rookie season NFL history. That projects pretty well. Trevor Laurence remains a question mark think it's a slight edge to Herbert. For now, Bird in the hand and all that. The Chargers have The eighth most cap space. In the National Football League projected this coming offseason. The jacks have the most. So that's an advantage for the Jags. But it's not like you're handcuffed. In terms of the moves you want to make with the Chargers. And look. The Jag's also had that additional first rounder from that Joan Ramsey trade and I believe two second rounders, So there's a lot of flexibility in Jacksonville. You go out and you could get some impact players. For me. The charges have the slight advantage in the sense that Joey Bosa Keenan Allen are already stars. You could draft the equivalent. You could try a drafty equivalent Those guys with your 1st 2nd rounders. Those four picks If you take that job in Jacksonville, but you have to hit on those guys now, the problem for for the Chargers, and it's a real problem. Is that you play in the same division of the Chiefs, and I wouldn't even normally site that cause the NFL is so up and down teams that's good now could be broken in two years, and a team that has broken now could be up in two years. Cheesier different animal Because Mahomes is a different animal. For me, the Chargers are the slightly better gig. But you can make a case for either of them. And I think for for whoever the highly coveted coaches are and what's interesting is that the enemy is going to be in a vacuum A the highest. Rejected potential and coach forever. These guys who want these jobs have to also assess themselves ownership and the culture, the organization And the organization is gonna do the same thing. Maybe they don't click with someone. It's interesting. You know the answer. Would be enemy be interested. Forget the practical problems of facing the chief. Is there a loyalty constraint that holds him back from going in division against Andy Reid? Maybe. Camel tell I think the Texans were the next best job. It's certainly arguable their top or bottom 10 and projected cap space. They're gonna have their hands tied. They have no first or second round pick this year. That is not an ideal situation. There's a lot of reasons the Texans are a terrible job. Let me give you to that zoo great job or at least an enticing job. Great is probably wrong. Bill writer with the Year on CBS Sports Radio one people like you could make money. In Texas. We don't talk about this enough does not have seen income taxes. So if you make $10 million, if you are coach two makes $10 million You're going to make an extra million in cash. Then, if you live in California or New York, just as an example and to do Shawn Watson's not just just on Watson quietly under the radar, no one's paying attention. More than 4800 passing yards career best. Little League. He completed more than 70% of his passes. He had 33 touchdowns to seven interceptions. He's still young and the team's a mess. On Lee Moley. That's a pretty good QB. I think the judge of the fourth best job outside of the fact of the Jets and let me just tell you why Now it's again. It's a difficult place in which to make a decision. I think Urban Meyer would be a disaster here because not only do you have to know football. Yeah, I think you have to know what you're doing at the NFL level. Hey, George, the second overall pick which is enticing. They have Seattle's 1st and 3rd rounders from that Jamal Adam's trade if memory serves, and it does because I wrote it down and You have this giant question about Sam Donald. Now where this job may move down on the on the chart on the ranking tore up is how much control do you have? Over Donald Future. Is that a decision you get to make and you trust the organization to let you make it? If your urban Meyer Eric, be enemies, not taking that job, But you're Eric. Be enemy. You're Brian table. You're any of these guys? And they said you look, we really want Donald to be able to compete for the job. And you feel like that's code for. We're not gonna give up on a guy. We drafted that high. Do you want the job? Do you believe the Jets? A huge question Mark. The Lions have Stafford signed their 2022. They have the seventh overall pick. Maybe that's maybe the enemy will do it. There's some root for him there. Maybe it's enticing because if you're playing the long game, you feel like there's a committee from ownership. You know, it's a full rebuild here in the bottom half a cap space, But you do have a veteran quarterback you can. You can. Maybe be competitive with sort of. If you think you can draft it seven the guy the future and build to that and again you take Eric. The enemy is an example. He saw the benefits of mom sitting for a year now. You also have moms. Then there's the Falcons is just it's a disaster. Matt Ryan's dead cap money is $50 million. Made a third least amount of Rejected cap dollars available. They do have the fourth overall pick for me. It's charges Jags. Texans Jets Lions Falcons in that order, for now, given all the caveats, way went through. I'm not saying Urban Meyer's going to fail. I'm just saying history says he's gonna fail. That eagle doesn't always translate..

"I know we do this every single year. I know you get out quickly every single year and on the one to pump the brakes. Except this time I'm out with a gas can Are you feeling about this? Are you gun shy? Where are you all in? Do you believe Because this is a really good start and a really good start. That to me is different than all those other really good starts. We'll say we'll see if he can continue to build upon this, but so far so great for Josh Allen. Then again, remember, we are not all that far removed from the Nate Pete days. Boiled three techno When you hear that what comes to mind? A thin I'm gonna go to the end again. Hey, Pete. How you live in Mafia and what do you think it's going to happen against? The Rams saw the Rams plus 2.5. Man that sounds like that's got a big head play all over at Rams, plus 2.5. Joan Ramsey making place.

"In Miami, though it was Alan and the offense who bailed out McDermott's defense. The team needed him and the Oh to step up and come through late. And they did. They rallied from 1/4 quarter deficit to get the W even Sean McDermott, one more stoic guys ever not the most excitable guy ever is feeling. Alan check out his comments after the quarterback's play against Miami quote. He's got ice water in his veins. No moment is too big for him and a quote a mafia. Head coaches now saying things like that and not just to pump up his young quarterback, or to give him confidence. He meant that That's a new and improved Josh Allen. The alleged face of the franchise quarterback Josh Alan and man How about that trade with Stefan Diggs? How good does that look right now? And how crappy does that feel to you? Viking fan? The Vikings offense has been about the biggest disappointment in the NFL so far. How badly do you need that guy? You want talk about a smooth transition. Look what happened in Minnesota when he left and look what's happened Buffalo's offense since he arrived. I mean, this guy hits the ground running. He's already on the same page with his young quarterback Brandon Bean. Gave up a time to get this guy, and so far it looks brilliant. Diggs is a beast. This guy makes corners look stupid with the amount of separation and get consistently so being goes out. He gets Alan. A legit number one wide out in digs. Digs leads the NFL on receiving yardage. Alan leads the league in passing two games in house that O Buffalo. A great pickup by the bills. Now again to be fair. I'm not going to pump the brakes on this completely. But to be fair, I do need to see more of this, and I need to see more of this against somebody other than the Jets and the Dolphins. He owns the Dolphins and the Jets. Jets are horrible football team. Actually, that's being kind to the Jets. What's worse than horrible that So I need to see this and this offense against a better D, which is why I mentioned this earlier. I can't wait to see how he and they show up against a Ram's defense is weak. One thing toe blow out the Jets to come back on the Dolphins. Ah, very different thing, however, to set Aaron Donald and Joan Ramsey on fire and that defense Again. Bills found not hating. You know me? I'm celebrating. I'm here to enjoy the fact that you want a game because of your offense because of your young franchise quarterback. Josh Allen is looking more and more like the real thing. And if, in fact he is And he can keep this up. All of a sudden, we're not talking on ly about ripping the A F C East. We're not talking about a return in the playoffs we're talking about Maybe you challenging for the Lombardi. If Alan can keep doing this I mean, for real. When was the last time you could legitimately say that about the bills? When was the last time you could legitimately celebrate elite quarterback play on the bills? If this holds up, there will not be enough tables in all a buffalo for the Mafia to bust through..

"Goes deep down the left side for Michael Gallop pan. It's caught. Inside the 25 inside the 20 jail, and Ramsey makes the tackle. There are flags all over the place, and I think this is coming back. It looks like it's going to be offensive pass interference on gallop. Ramsey was signaling for it almost immediately. You think that's coming back? Michael galloping, beaten Jalen Ramsey on that bomb 47 yard completion put them in field goal range would have tied the game old but there's a flag on the play, and the flag on the play is for offensive pass interference. How often do you see? Offensive P. I called. And how often you see a called In that situation? I can answer the question pretty much. Never. Pretty much never Mike McCarthy made that point himself. After the game. I was surprised it was called. They're either way so obviously disappointed in the call, particularly at that point the game. I thought they lived both things play tonight, and you just don't usually see that particularly in a critical point in the game. You know, I I am the ultimate practitioner of scoreboard. But I gotta agree with him. In this instance I have to agree McCarthy. You don't see that call at a critical part of the game. In fact, I'd go one step further. I don't think you see a call like that. It's just about any point in any game. And Joan Ramsey did a hell of a job is selling that call. But, man, that was a week week. Call me Clint. There was a weak, weak call. Don't try telling that to referee Tony Corrente. My man was sticking by that call quote. I can tell you. It was clear and obvious on the field of a hand into the opposing player off full arm extension there created separation. In all situations that would be called. We're not going to allow that at any time of the game. And a quote. Like I could not disagree with that statement any more than I do. But I almost have to respect him coming in that hot that aggressively with that kind of authority, like quote, we're not going to allow that it any time. All of the game. In other words, not my House, Mac. Not in my house. McCarthy could take that junk someplace else. We're not having that. Except for one problem except the problem that you see a play like that dozens of times during any NFL weekend, and it's almost never ever called. Much less in the fourth quarter off a three point game late. Then again is shaky. Is that call wass and it was shaky as hell. There is a part of me that's actually okay with it on some level because know what that means. That means that maybe there is somewhat of a return to normalcy in life. We could talk all we want about the new normal the new normal. But maybe not. Maybe there is some return to normalcy. If we're talking about bad NFL refs, and we're second guessing a cowboy's head coach, It means that life is coming back. Welcome back football. Welcome back bad refs. Welcome back, underachieving cowboy football..

"Five years, $105 million Total 71.2 mil is guaranteed. Ramsey and the Rams have confirmed the de agreement, but not those financials. Now some bad football news and Maria's reportedly confirmed ligament damage and von Miller's ankle the Bronco pass rusher, apparently injuring the final play of yesterday's practice, which It wasn't even a full workout since the Broncos don't start their season till Monday. Miller expected to see a specialist tomorrow, but season ending surgery is likely. Now I have no idea how this would work. But a CC men's basketball coach is expected to propose that all Division one teams make the tournament this spring. They've apparently gone as far as discussing the idea. With NC double A organizer's bill read the quarter running this morning. Deon is telling Yahoo sports quote That's not happening. When asked last night if you could leave the box in free agency that could happen after next season, he honesty is eligible this offseason phrase Supermax extension, which would be around five years and $254 million. Those questions a bit more valid this morning. After another early postseason exit, the honest and a sprained right ankle watched the box dropped. Game five to the heat. 103 94. They lose the series for one Mike Boutin holders team was just never right in Florida. We had our moments here in Orlando, but Ultimately, um, you know, we just we weren't able to get it done, So I think everybody's got dealing with the same circumstances. The heat, meanwhile, now eight and one of the playoffs back in the East final for the first time in six seasons, the Lakers again better in the fourth in the rocket, so they lead their serious two games to one lead to control for good with a 10 hour run early in the final period. Take your body while good for Joan Ramsey. Getting paid. What a bummer will hit this late in the show. What a absolute bummer. The Broncos fans. I mean, that is just an absolute killer Von nor that ankle injury may be going down for the season. Alright. We haven't talked a lot of tenants because we don't but I'm into it, and Andy Roddick is going to be on the show and I'm looking. He's a great guy, and he is one of the best people I've met in the business. But as you probably know if you follow sports, he is a pretty hard core competitors and everything. Very curious in his perspective on Novak Djokovic hitting that ball accidentally, but but against the rules into that line's woman's throat and disqualifying him from the U. S open, he absolutely would have one. That's the only thing that would have kept him. From adding his Grand Slam total had not lost this year and no one left in the men's field has ever won, ever won a Grand Slam event. And if you watch tennis like I do, the guys that are left look nervous, and they're playing each other because they understand how open that road is. This generation doesn't seem ready, but don't take my word for it. It's getting any rockets perspective here on this show, which Righter than you will do that next on CBS Sports radio. "And you gotta wonder sometimes like during the day I don't think it's really problem in the morning at least I hope it's not a problem in the morning we know how dangerous it is drunk driving and you know we've done a lot to combat that but now there's this whole study from the center for disease control this is our correspondent Joan Ramsey in Washington that's gonna listen what Joe has say twelve million American adults say they have recently drove under the influence of wheat according to a report from the centers for disease control and prevention over two million also say they drove under the influence of drugs such as cocaine or methamphetamine that breaks down to nearly five percent of Americans behind the wheel on marijuana and about one percent behind the wheel and other drugs that still smaller than the eight percent a driver who said they drove under the influence of alcohol the report shows young men were the most likely to use pot before driving the authors say that is of special concern since newer drivers already have a heightened risk of causing accidents because of their in experience on the road I'm Joe Ramsey Kerr aids well that's all we spoke we need to do here you know what though I was that I was thinking about this the other day you know usually when you're driving and you smell of skunk somebody had a skunk yeah well pot smells like skunk skunk wager and it is so bizarre because now when I smell that and I'm driving I go did somebody had a skunk or is the person in front of me sparking up and then I slowly back off of the car in front of me and try to determine because I don't want to be anywhere near somebody who's driving like that no kidding I mean you know the phone and the phone is bad enough right right and then you add some substance that flows your brain down that's what we need yeah and this is Savannah and apparently it's it's really hard to check in a blood test American they don't really have any testing equipment they I know they've been working on it but then they got anything that's ever even closely to be accurate I had seen a report somewhere of how hang on how about that about I it was like guys speed stick it was a pop breathalyzer someone and it was this thing that you you would blow into a okay let me see it so they have one it's a breathalyzer that you would blow into and it was able to detect the marijuana actually on your breath okay and then there was another one involved saliva but I don't remember I don't remember what sort of got something out there working on it but yeah I mean you're right Brad hot you can't really tell yeah a lot of the time I mean I know that you know maybe that their eyes get read hello hello somebody could say that's allergies you know or they've been Korea that's true the great point actually you know a good year courses Sir you transporting a skunk in that car you smoking marijuana right and you know what I'm sorry kids that you know law enforcement family here got it got it right if you have it in the car and the cops ask save them some time and tell them because they will find it yes I am I well I've been watching these videos you know live PD and all these other awesome shows that are out there and it's like yes Sir is there anything in the vehicle I no no no no no it's not well Sir I can I can smell marijuana card all right well Sir I'm gonna need you to step out of vehicle and then you know they go and they find it these guys are you know newbies yeah their first rodeo with pot then plus in the cop is going to feel a lot better about you if you're just honest with them yeah exactly be honest with them and do what they say and I guarantee you your day will go a lot more smoothly than if you do the latter the opposite if you you talk with the cop shows that are on there have you ever seen the thing caught in Providence judge Frank Frank Cappiello I love him he Omar's guy heart he is the best yeah he's he's he's doing god's work if you've not seen what this says they have a television camera say it's actually TV show yeah I will I get turned into one after the wire my role with with all the good you two videos and and what it is he's a he's a judge just a nice older gentleman very channel he he he gets the story out about what's happening with these people you know they'll they'll find the guy that was arrested for going ten my fifteen miles over the limit to what was going on while I found out my mom was dying in the hospital and I really want to get there well you know you really shouldn't have done that because you could have been the one killed two with your mom okay now she did make kids were you able to get there in time yeah well you know you've been you've been through enough and so this fine here is supposed to be fifty dollars you know what I'm going to waive that yeah Hey just does things like that into just so compelling and so heart warming and a lot of times these people when they tell their story and they find out this judge is actually on their side and is a good guy you know they break down yeah yeah and because you know they go I saw a video with him this woman was I I if something happened with our kids I don't remember what it was and she got caught on a red light camera whatever some small infraction and he said something along the lines of like listen coming into a court room and standing before a judge is scary enough on its own I don't have to do anything more appear to intimidate you any further or make this more difficult than it has to be you know he's eighty three year I saw that he's eighty three and you know what made him go viral I just remember the video I was a woman who brought her I think he was like two or three year old son into court with her and it was it was because they ran a red light or something and and the judge said walk can you have your little boy come up here you put a little boy on his lap and and the judge said do you do you think that that your your mommy meant to do something bad in the little boy he goes no and she goes okay I want to ask you a very important question is your mom guilty or not guilty and the little boy goes guilty and court just erupts in laughter obviously he waved the infraction and the little boys stole the hearts of everybody here I think the video had something like forty million views way then you know I don't know how long he's great yeah it's a it's a cotton Providence and I'll put it I'll put it up on our blog cares about all calm if you just if you need a smile yeah it's a and it's every time I see one of those videos it just warms your heart there there are good people in that a lot of good people in the judicial system you just never hear about it this story Katie's are leading up we have puppy love coming up in just a second we do in this dog is gosh no kidding me having a dog obsession you might not get me back after this one I'm gonna go I'm gonna go get this one one family in Georgia got more than they bargained for they took a live Christmas tree home and while the little daughter says your daughter India started crying her mom came so what's a man she goes one of the one of the ornaments on the tree scared me and they couldn't figure out what she was talking about when they looked inside the tree they found a real live owl living in the trees yes well that's cool all look at this this is also so that night they left their windows and doors open hope the owl would depart in his own but its state it was just very okay you know why it state is because they fed it who gave it love raw chicken they're given all sorts of food things like Hey it's warm in here I don't have any predators and they're given me food he's actually really cute see you just came up on the no I would just keep feeding it this beautiful he's hanging out in the tree and they have the lights on these kinda like peeking his head out looking around in eastern screech owl delved his they brought it home actually they call the nature center in the employee told him to leave the raw chicken out nature center staff drove out may safely pluck the al from the tree saying it was a little Macy aided have it was a good idea that they fed him so owl gates I'll gate in Georgia gosh it's classic I love it all right talk radio five sixty KSFO bring.

"The sports leader you don't want to deal with these distractions about Joan Ramsey when our parents were really good team out on the road you know no question about it in a a team in which you're going to need to or game and not say the Broncos are great teams has but just looking at a game in which it's a tough atmosphere you know you don't have great margin for error right and and you need to find a way to win the football game right all right you'd like to have all hands on deck in and has it yeah the other news coming around the National Football League will run around the league to coming up at the top of the hour it was we talked a lot about expansion right we've learned about pre season football and how bad preseason football is and how nobody watches preseason football and how the NFL owners want to kinda rid themselves of preseason football salt. the NFL is the NFL owners of scrap the idea of an eighteen game regular season what their new proposal to the Players Association is no more preseason football but we want seventeen regular season games. no more preseason football but we want seventeen regular season games they've also bandied about the bat at the idea of expanding the playoff format as well so what the NFL owners are telling me is we want more meaningful football we want less meaning less football and we want to try and open up even more ever streams of revenue for us to be able to you know in a billion dollar industry to be able to to generate even more revenue so the Players Association have scoffed at the idea and said okay well well maybe play ball with the attacks but if that's the case we want a bigger cut of the pie right yeah interesting and you know it's a very interesting conversation and the thing with the the no pre season football those are one of our one of these guys going to do it look we've seen a lot over the years and especially as of late more more of teams coming to other teams camps and staying there for two days you know staying if two days and and play a scrimmage plane in the stadium working in practice for you know we've seen that this year of route seven years I should say so I think that's where you would have that game feel that live feel that's my first thing when I mean as a prison season football I'm not saying I have four weeks of it. but it is important for for live game action for players to get their sea legs on them to get the Russell from off the Rockies to feel what this is really like but I guess you'll get that that feeling practice when you have these are the teams come into town and Tessa and I think that's a fascinating point and the reason why is the one thing I thought about when I thought about this is you know who it helps it helps the established player you know it hurts it hurts the unproven player no doubt the guy they the guy that's trying to find his way to the National Football League that you know is trying to impress the coach is and I get they look at practice tape and I understand that but there is something to be said of getting preseason work with the lights on cameras on the lake and seeing how you play in that atmosphere as well outside of practice outside of those live scrimmages outside of maybe scrimmage Jing another organization other team ties where I think that guy it might be a little bit more difficult to crack into the NFL if Dustin daily does pass I think it helps the establish veteran player guys that teams can trust more so than the unproven commodity no doubt about it and we've seen it as a football community in a football fan base just by watching shows like hard knocks well the the short US on Amazon prime that the name escapes me if they have them on the cowboys in the Panthers was like behind the scenes Jones and the things we've seen how important these games are these preseason games to the coaches and players because these these somebody's young guys or you know this is how they make the team in those preseason games the point you just made you know that there is some some points of this preseason games but I guess if they do do this yeah I think there's gonna what is smoke this far lot of time so I don't know has excel I well I'm not saying it can't happen.

"Is called yes defining frustration yeah yeah he is that he said I'm angry well because we're going to get a large straight year I mean I I don't know what's going on the defensive backs a defense force in this league but budgeting a Joan Ramsey and Doug Marrone yesterday I thank the cross the line you don't that'll be in jail in Ramsey has on the on centers last night he thought that Doug Marone cross the line I disagree with him on that yeah I think a target whom he said something obviously wanted to challenge the call and I did not shall call and you know they end up getting off the field so should be a nose note this display your job is to play not you not the not the coach employ so you know I I would disagree with the on that one well here was dug Marone on that sequence what what does the recall about it and I have a lot of motion and again I'm sure I don't know I can't I can't recall right you can't remember something happened like twenty minutes ago if there is a motion on this I'm going into players on the side as well and and I understand it I think that's the biggest thing you have to understand the course of a game you know you're going to have these emotional outburst so every other week. well it can't be repeated obviously at that point but I think that that was it seems like an isolated situation we'll see if both those guys can move on do you feel that last week well I was miles Jack yeah right. yeah but it was assumed that that was him lose it on the field yeah right not with the coach ever fell directly disrespected by when your players in the game in one of these emotional moments. no brown south probably some players felt disrespected by million tiny yeah because you know I mean listen it is emotional and you know sometimes things are said in the heat of battle things are done the heat of battle that just you know you it's three hours miglior drained by the end of that time and so you look back on it and you know you and you move on from it I mean I guess the most important thing to recognize in the course of the game and you try to channel your emotions properly but at the same time you want people to understand if they got a feel free to exude what they're saying what they feel in again and then a respectful type of manner and sometimes his players of that they don't want to be discussed I mean I've had the I talk to Greg Lloyd he was looking right through me and I'd look at look mean eyes look up in the air please listen to me yeah please okay talk to me so I don't read do wasn't asked many questions I'll try to get my point across yeah hopefully something would stick yeah and my buddy Josh Miller who appointed for you for many years if he had a bad pun T. would make it a point to walk past you we're why nice so why don't come by me. you'll get a next time Josh. you just say uses to do that to piss them off like I just. just walk right by and you can go there and I'll just go down the other side. combining sorry.

"The NFL. Mike works the voluntary workout programs begun across the league where you're lifting weights and doing some classroom work for a couple of weeks before OTA's begin next month. Tom Coughlin is all about the business in Jacksonville. And he seems to be a little perturbed that a couple of his players were not showing up to the quote, unquote, voluntary workouts with the Jags. Here's town. Call quote, we're very close to one hundred percent attendance. And quite frankly, our players should be her building the concept of team working ARD side-by-side, constructing our bond of togetherness formulating our collective priorities and goals success in the NFL demands struggle, those who have given everything to them then become lazy selfish and insensitive to the real values of team the hard work that may try to avoid is the major building block for the development of an outstanding football team. It's not about rights and privileges. It's about obligations and responsibility. And the question is can we count on you? Well, one of the players who is not at the workouts. Mike is Jalen Ramsey. It's one of the best players defense. And he of course, tweeted out fully aware voluntary. Meaning I don't have to be there. But they know the exact reasons I am not my teammates. No. It's all love and know, AVI, ready when it's time and Joan Ramsey's agent went on to tweet that they know why he's not taking part in the voluntary offseason program. Well, my read on this Mike is that obviously Tom Coughlin does not think the reason that Jalen Ramsey isn't. There is satisfactory to him. But you and I both know doing this for a living. Look, the reality is he's called voluntary workouts voluntary unless you're a superstar holding out for a contract to be there. I think you, and I both know that it is mandatory even though the language itself says voluntary exactly and Tom conference old school. He's very very old school. And while it is volunteer. Harry, quote, unquote, believe it or not, you know, the the front office, the coaches, they pay attention on who is showing up, and is that we know. Jalen Ramsey, the very talented player. He's wanted a top quarterbacks in the NFL. But the fact that he's not there after the Jacksonville Jaguars went from being, you know, one game from reaching the Super Bowl a couple of seasons ago to being a complete utter disaster. And immaturity in the fighting inside the locker room and not living up to potential. You would think you want to try to get that bond back together get close to your teammates. But not the show what you can do what you want. You don't have to show up until the mandatory many three day mini camp in June. But believe just just know people are paying attention to who was in a building in who was not. And when you have a reputation of being, you know, not very professional. They're going to keep an eye on that. And clearly Tom Coughlin. Instead of just keeping it inside. He decided to verbalize it earlier this week. I got news for everyone out there a death charts or not built in the summer depth charts are built in the spring. Mike teams know who starting in the spring, they know based on the off season workout program, they know based on the OT as they know based on the minicamps like trust me when I say that when you get the training camp every year, we do the the exercise of who's on the bubble. Yes. There are very few bubble players every summer on every team because for the most part teams know what ninety eight percent of their final fifty three is gonna look like the day. The report to training camp. There's might be one or two a couple of things that could change and injuries, of course, change change things too. But like again like they know what their team is based on the work that's done in the spring. If you don't think it matters. You're not paying attention. Yeah. Jalen Ramsey supposed to supposed to be one of the leaders at Jacksonville Jaguars team that you know, Linnet Linette for net, and you know, been dealing with some off the field issue season. You wanna have everybody together the strong suit of the Jacksonville Jaguars is their defense. You know, I had a conversation with Chicago Bears new the coordinator and former Indianapolis Colts head coach Donald combine. I said, you know, what you pretty well by getting you'd be able to be the defensive coordinator Khalil Mack. And Chicago I say, but other great job if it were over would into the Jacksonville Jaguars because of a guy like Jalen Ramsey. But if I'm gonna I'm looking I'm like, okay, see, Jalen decide he he's still young. And he's not a vet has been in the league eight or nine years, and he doesn't want to be around the team during these voluntary workouts, where is his mind at where is his desire to wanna be true teammate? And you got a question that that's the voice of Mike wells filling in today for. Jonathan Ho's Dickerson and hood on ESPN radio. We are presented by progressive insurance making it easy to bundle your home and car insurance. This story made me chuckle coming out of the raiders camp. The raiders head coach Jon Gruden and their new GM, Mike Mayock sent all their scouts home. And they're not coming back. The draft is next. Was it playing trains and automobiles to get out of there? I guess I mean, I don't know. I guess they bust them to the airport. And they're out there. They're not coming back. The story goes that they weren't. Sure, reportedly who they could trust that's fair. I mean, the fact that this was this got out publicly probably shows you that some of those scouts were talking to media members. Right that they were able to figure out what what happened there. I'm here. Here's my thought process, though. Yes. Mike Mayock has played the role of GM on television for a long time. Right, mike. But this is for real now. This is for keeps. He's done this before John gruden's out of the game for a while before last year. This is a team that has how many first round picks three three. I taught a first round picks. This is arguably the most important draft one of the most important drafts in their franchise history. The ruined the Vegas soon. They're going to get this thing turned around. So I mean, I get it a little bit. But I would just think. Having scouts there to answer questions. You may have about a player on draft day or leading up to the draft could be helpful. But I guess these guys are going rogue. And here's the thing. You know, say got a question, you know, Jon Gruden got a question he wants to call. I'm a scout knowing that clearly I may not have a job after the draft. And I see that phone rang up. Not me. No it I decided I had to take my kid PD to baseball practice or soccer practice. I'm not gonna try to answer. And the put it in perspective. Chris Ballard a coach general manager who the colts had the best drafted NFL last season. He let the media in after draft last year and explain how every everything went down. And the value of the scout. Indy colts draft room is incredible. He told stories of when they're picked came on board in the mid late around. They let their scout. Stand up and speak on why the guy they scouted is worth that pick that spot because they. They were basically putting ourselves pitch on why the coach take that player. Now that won't happen in Oakland. They don't have those guys inner saying, okay? Why should we take player x over at player? Why? And I think you know, if they sit him fall in face in this wrath specially with three first round picks is going to be an embarrassing look for the Oakland Raiders franchise soon to be Las Vegas raiders franchise. I understand that these scouts were more than likely going to be let go after the draft. The reality is when a new GM takes over even if he comes from the TV set fee takes over he wants to bring his own people in got it. Right. Understood. However, these scouts have played a role here in this process. The the art of scouting college player doesn't begin to senior bowl, Mike, as you know, like this is an an annual thing it takes years and years of of knowing these players in college and getting to know them and following them and being there area. Scout. I just I just find it kind of just kind of silly just the word I use to describe the raiders they're just kind of kind of silly franchise. You know, they don't pay Khalil Mack because they don't have the money. Well, don't pay your head coach one hundred million dollars. Then Mike the money. I mean, it basically they traded kilo MAC, and Amari Cooper, two very talented football players. That's the Oakland Raiders for you. Folks. Don't have enough money to pay Khalil Mack. Let's give John grew one hundred million dollars. We will continue our NFL nation takeover coming up next. We're relevant baby. Bears. Colts around the clock. Straight ahead. Mike wells in for voters stickers hood, ESPN radio..

"Henry to the left out to the outside. Twenty five. Yards. That's high in eagle Westwood One on the fan. That's pathetic. Absolutely. Run. Once proud defense just being pushed around by Jack. No speed at all. Rowen people around is the fact that Joan Ramsey's team stinks. Tara Palmer boys karma, thirty two nine. The final score last night. Derrick Henry ran for a franchise record two hundred thirty eight yards and those four touchdowns. The other touchdown runs. Three yards sixteen yards and fifty four yards. The ninety nine yarder tying Tony Dorsett for the longest touchdown run in NFL history. Here he was on that ninety nine yarder. Was so crazy because before huddle you've got a nine yard main focus is getting positive yards and some of the lines breath, by the way, the actual him. The actual call was a quarterback. Sneak just to give them some space and mariota saw something and changed at the line. Wow. That's good. Is that was my grave of rebel? How would you describe his night? I would say very impressive. Yeah. Very impressed. The night that we played Tennessee back in one thousand nine hundred seven and Corey Dillon went off like that. Then Corey Dillon. I think about two hundred forty eight or check that not even more than that. Maybe but he had that type of night, man, and ISIS. Unbelievable. These Thursday night football games. Now that was a terrible game because you have one team as backup quarterback going nowhere and look listless to forty six four touchdowns. Well, done dairy, go. Here was a Doug Marrone talking about that ninety nine yard boy that tackling. We just didn't get them down. I mean, there were guys around it goes on and other guys running guys run for the other side of the field guys running from behind, and they would just didn't tackle. No, nobody really was awful. So the titans still alive in the playoff mix. They go to seven and six with the win. All right to the. The giants and jets the giants playing the Redskins on Sunday. Odell Beckham junior's spoke yesterday, he says, let's play spoiler season's over a major. So somebody else's coming home with us to go. And he says, let's go get it Sunday another opportunity to go out here Sunday and do what we do since the Bobby planning a very very high level. He hates that Landon Collins is done shoulder injury. Need surgery? I wish we had them for the rest of the season. He's captain is a leader. Is our Kathy. He's our leader. You know, he will be missed. I'll give you this man that kid played through that he can shoulder and he plays for the game. He didn't have to play through the game room. He's in a contract year too. I mean that it self just tells you what it means to him. At least you can't get you can't get enough of those guys that I will say that. I I don't know what they're gonna do with them. I don't know if they'll pay him on on my contract extension, whether they'll they'll tag them or something. But I'll tell you man when a guy like online in the midst of a losing season. And he plays hurt. Here's Beckham on that. I'll take care of myself, my.

"So he's out for the year unfortunately. So so it was a situation where obviously, Blake's throw in sixty one times. That's never good. They were down. So he did have to throw the ball more you. You mentioned Pat Maha. Homes and what he was going against. I mean, they did do a really good job Joan Ramsey of trying to bottle up. You know, the explosiveness of tyreek hill. Travis. Kelsey still had a good game. Mahomes throws his first pick of the season, but he's still clips that the three hundred yard Mark on the day. And it did just seem that you know, even when Mahomes took some shots there was able to, you know, get humbled a little bit by the Jaguars defense for whatever reason they were able to easily bounce back. And he goes twenty to thirty eight or three hundred thirteen yards and a rushing touchdown. No passing touchdowns this week at approves the fear. You don't win. Defenses, have a hard time winning on the road and in heartlessly look, Jackson played good defense at certain points per game. You just can't play thirty minutes of beat. Jacksonville would have dominated bore if their offense would have been able to converse with third downs of the first half wake doesn't turn it over. And at the end of the day, if their defense plays twenty six minutes, they wouldn't a game. I mean, it's so classic. Nobody gets this. We don't talk about it, but the eagles last year, whatever they had a play over thirty minutes. They weren't win. I mean, he my manning, we'll get to this later. But you know, I manage to best games last year against the eagles. Truth for a ton of yard, but the eagles defense never plays for the twenty seven minutes. That's why they year. They're playing more than twenty seven minutes. They're playing thirty and all of a sudden people worried about him. Well, that's why you're playing too much. It's too many minutes because your offense isn't controlling the temple, and that's why offense is on the road win because if they can control the pace women's the amount and right now, Jacksonville can't control the pace and Bortles can't stay on the field on the road, began against the bad Pittsburgh defense. "I knew his name Malcolm Smith plays for the Niners I, I don't know why thought it was named his name I, but what is what it is. All right to cornerback. Now, quarterback obviously we talked about Jilin ramps. We haven't talked about Jalen Ramsey in his comments on the quarterbacks in this league, which is which are whole areas. Yeah, that was interesting. And then you have. Yeah. So Jalen Ramsey. He's great. PAT's Peterson, great. I think the corner is kind of speaking themselves because they're very flamboyant very in the media very much. In the in the public eye a lot, so they kind of speak for themselves there. So I think that you're going to definitely be getting some good production from any of those guys that you pick pick from that position. If it's going to be Peterson or or Josh Norman, or like I said, a Jill Ramsay would be a deal. I mean, there's other options out there as well. Very good. A lot of good cornerback as well. So I mean, you you give you wanna go for the two new guys in LA. Keep to lead Jason Peters in in LA go after them. I mean, it's, you can't go wrong there. I mean, I think you're just fine. Corners are gonna get tackles. Probably gonna get their picks how you would lose points. Like if those guys obviously get more tiles, other guys Marshon Lattimore another guy if you wanted to about that. I mean, there's your what your top three, four in the league. If you wanna talk about corners, Joan Ramsey the two guys LA and Marshon Lattimore as well. I mean the fact of the Rams. I don't know. They have the two. I mean, if I'm putting them top. I'm not thinking about probably as deep as I probably could Jalen mills for the ios is also very, very good too. And they also got Ronald Darby and the trade. He's I like him as well. So you can think about all different guys at the quarterback position for Xavier Rhodes for the Vikings, don't wanna forget about him. I'm trying to think of more guys up my head here, but I mean there's lots of different guys out there who who are are solid, solid corners in this league and can make some make some points for you things. I haven't played it leagues. I'm not really sure how the scoring works. I'm sure you get something for a tackle interceptions point tackle for loss. Our point, forced fumble, fumble recovery like that. Sure are positives for your defensive players. I don't know if they're going to be negative points for points allowed, or if you get burnt on a play or something like that, if it's if it can go both ways or straight volume, you want guys who get our ball hawks and get turnover. Some turnovers, they're much much more valuable than. And then just tackle, but tackles are good too, and goes to the tackle machines. Those are the linebackers. And obviously there's a lot of linebackers in this league. As the NFL has really become a plumbing now that it's more of a passing league, we're getting into this point where it's a lot of letting linebackers who could run and the. I mean, we thought about the best ones. Fortunately, one of the best ones the league is not gonna plan this year and Ryan. She's ear where prayer, hopefully, he's, I mean, I know we he, the moment at the draft was amazing and I can imagine he's progressing even more. He's a, he's a fighter. He's at athlete. He's a competitor, and he's got some of the greatest medical minds working with him right now. So the fact that he's been able was able to walk at the at the draft is as quite amazing. And the fact that even wants to try and get back on the field is is inspiring and itself as well. So Ryan cheesier kinda give you a little bit of out, but unfortunately, we can't not gonna be able to take this year as we really wish we could because you're, you're really, really, really top of the line player in this league. But as far as linebackers Ruben young guys Reuben foster, he's he's Hillary two games as he got suspended for the weapons charged. Nothing nothing ever came. Mostly. Everything was dropped off the domestic violence stuff. So to worry about that, obviously, Lou Keithly. His is my guy..

"The court pilot HR v. what do you have over there, sir? Okay. So Jalen Ramsey g. q. article came out, he has a lot of things to say about a lot of people out of quarterbacks. It's it's very, it's very funny seeking out so NFL research, their their Twitter at NFL research that you know very well or buddy Bill Smith and his crew. They put together all the stats of Jalen Ramsey against the quarterbacks that he commented on in the g. q. article, okay, career against these guys, including playoffs. So the players that he thinks are, okay, Aaron Rodgers passes against Joan Ramsey seventy eight and a half passer rating, Derek Carr. Eighty three point three, two Shawn Watson as a touchdown against be an MVP in this league and I don't know five. Five tyrod Taylor's got almost a perfect passer rating against him. Matthew Stafford won sixteen said he was straight Philip rivers, pretty good. He's got a touchdown against them. Ninety three Russell Wilson thought was just good. Two point eight career paths are against now the guys that he dissed. Let's junk. Okay. Andrew luck. He doesn't think Andrew luck stat. Good. Andrew luck has a touchdown on a one, thirty seven passer rating. Then the muster must have been in jailings rookie obviously Jalen. Yeah. Yeah, Ben Rothlisberger Ramsey said he's decent at best fifty six passer rating three interception. His number may really do Jared Goff average to above average a one eleven passer rating for Gough Jimmy Garoppolo. He said he was all schemes grop. It was one hundred point three passer rating. He had a great game against a man did it? Did he said that Joe flacco sucks. Flacco two picks twenty three and a half pathway kudos to the NFL research, the NFL network, and I follow them on Twitter. You should follow them at NFL research. They're very hard working. They're great. And the best thing is that there's the name the the four columns name touchdown interception ratio, passer rating column three, and then column for is Ramsey comment underneath the Ramsey comment for flacco just says the word suck suck. Well, Don van, Tom Brady does not suck. Not suck was the sixty point that's their way of putting it in there. I think he said the Brady does not suck. You didn't say that, but well, done NFL research very well. Golf by the two thousand sixteen NFL draft. The first five picks of that NFL draft, Goth whence, Bosa Zeke Jalen Ramsey all of them have made a Pro Bowl in the first two seasons. All of them. And then. We're still waiting on the others. The next Pro Bowl player to have been drafted seventeenth. Overall, the falcons took Keno Neil who's been super the next falcons pick Dion Jones. In the second round. He's made the Pro Bowl. Jets could've had him, but they chose hackenberg instead in front of him. I don't to go down a hackenberg wormhole so we're gonna stop there. The only other Pro Bowl player in between the top five in those two falcons is Michael Thomas of the saints draft in the second round, very good receiver. And then there's Kevin buyer of the titans top of round three and Yannick and Gakugei of the Jaguars middle of round three. And that's it for that draft. We're still waiting to see what what they're what's going on at Berg. Third, two picks and practice yesterday, and you know what? I'll tell you this man, ally Manning's already had a little bit of fun saying no comment. And then asking who about Jalen Ramsey that's week one. That's the week. One matchup Jaguars giants. There's no doubt. Tom Coughlin is patently unhappy about all of this that the week leading up to that game or maybe he is happy that will all be focused on Jalen Ramsey and not going back to MetLife and the Jags would have been fun..

"But it's still a difference in traditional media coverage versus all of these things speaking in your lap every day you've got a litany of things that can take you away you've got a litany of things that can be interest you're afforded that luxury now of having outside interest in a way that i don't think was as in vogue before that created vis alltime greats that are allowed to exist for two decades in their given support at that level i mean we think about when tom brady went back in one his first super bowl way back at the tournament maloney him did you recognize that for a lot of guys coming into the league they're not just coming into the league insane tom brady has been playing nfl football as long as i've been alive their sink tom brady he's been winning championships in the nfl as long as i've been alive in tennis roger federer is on his 20th grand slam that is daunting if you're someone we talk about all the time not playing against the ghosts not playing against the laura behind a team behind anything like that it's a little different when it's all packaged in one person like yeah you're not playing against tom brady from two thousand seven that torch the lead with randy moss you're not playing against every tom brady championship but to a certain extent you are because he's got that cash a all builtup you're playing against every roger federer championship because he's got all those things in the road ex you're playing against all these things with those guys and rymer ryan clark talked about this jalen ramsey joan ramsey's got sort of historical ignorance it's almost what you need because if you realize the totality of these guys.
