"East coast back to back to back and you knew the odds of beating pretty good Astros team with a really good offense, three games in a row. Not high. Also, the Red Sox used up a lot of runs and had a lot of hits in the last few games. That's usually sustainable for ten to 14 days back. So you knew the offense was going to come down. But at the same time, you know, last Diaz behind the plate, this guy, anytime you see him during the season, it's like an old moment. It's kind of how I used to feel about cowboy Jo west, but Diaz, you just know, and he's bad for both teams. It's not even like you can get mad about, you know, things that happening at your team because he's an equal opportunity offender. Jeff passen was tweeting on ESPN that I think he missed 23 ball strike calls for the course of game four. And that was, I guess the highest number of the season. This is not an excuse. I'm just saying when you see him, it's always you know it's going to be a disjointed weird game. I thought both teams got hosed on some ball strike calls, but of all the almost got out of the 9th inning. And guys squeezed on a call. And all of a sudden, Castro hits a single. Martin Perez comes in. I was ready to do a whole thing if the Red Sox went today. I was ready to do a whole thing about has the torch been passed for great coaches in Boston from Belichick to Alex core. I was ready to do it. It was like a workshop tape. It wasn't even, you know, it wasn't. I wasn't officially gonna stand by the take. It was like I was getting basically go to the stand up comedy club and work out a routine in front of the audience and kind of see how it hits. But, you know, core has been lights out and you think about last year's team versus this year's team. It's not like incredibly different. I mean, it's different, but it's not incredibly different. It's not top 5 worst team in the league to a team that has a chance to go to the World Series different. It's not that big of a talent difference. But all the stuff he does in the day to day and how he reads his team and how he pushes his guys. Didn't even you saw yesterday when Eduardo Rodriguez did the what time is that thing after he got Cray out? Furious. Why are you talking these guys? These guys are good. Don't do that, you know. Just keep your chin up. I didn't think he was very good tonight. He really went for it in this game in a way that I thought was a little strange. First of all, pavetta pitched 5 really good innings and then they kind of did the I'm just getting up from the blackjack table. I've won some money. I'm going back to my room thing with him. I think he can only throw in 64 pitches, bringing the lefty and out of vino to get through the 6, which is fine. But now you're putting basically two innings on winlock and one out of all day. And core is going for the kill, which I can't crush him on. But at the same time, it's one of those things where you're up to one in this series. If it doesn't work, now the momentum is completely shift. And what happens comes in Altuve first pitch, 8th inning, home run, tie game. And then it looks like woodlock's going to fall apart, but he's been the MVP all season. And gets through it too game. Red Sox can't do anything. We go to the 9th he brings in a ballad. Now you're really caching in the card here. And of all gives up a banger to Correa. And this is where I.

"Sox had the opportunity to step on the Yankees throats and will be the first ones to say that because how many times have the Yankees had any opportunity to step on anybody's throat and they let them go like it's some fucking crazy action movie where it's it's like John Wick dude, they can't fucking they can never kill anybody. He just comes back and keeps keeps screwing everybody over in the end. So I watched this happen. The Red Sox had a 7 O advantage, and then went three and 9 in their last 12 against the Yankees. And you're gonna complain about the final game of this not going your way. There were 18 other games. And you had and there were we'll even boil it down. There were 11 other games after you had a 7 O lead. So to complain about the Jo west call to also like get mad at Yankee fans for being happy, a call actually went in their favor after we had the baseline issue against the raise. Then we had the baseline issue against the mets in that game. Umpires just changing their mind for no reason and not reviewing anything. So everybody is the victim of bad calls. You have every right to be mad today, but this isn't going to define your season. And if it does, and that's more of an indictment on you being unable to get by this mentally. So we got a break, we got a one game lead. You have the easiest schedule in MLB history to end the season. So I think the tradeoff is actually not too bad. Yeah, you're gonna go 6 O down the stretch. You'll be fine. If you don't go 6 and no down the stretch, it's the upset of the century. That's why you have to savor these moments when they come. Yankee fans because this was awesome. And it might not end so awesome. And I don't think anyone's getting us weld ahead and thinking that the ON 7 starting as the Red Sox didn't happen. It obviously happened. That's what you have to savor these ridiculous wins when they come your way, especially because the bounces don't always go your way. How many times have we seen second or third one out? Judge and standing up in the runs don't score. A trillion times, the Red Sox had every opportunity prevent it, though, and they were every single time they were faced with Giancarlo Stanton in this series. Things went our way. Yep. That's what happened. It can lead to you. I mean, you know, you know, make your eyes bleed if you're a Red Sox fan wondering why you're not giving involves out of the zone. Why is everything in the heart of the plate? Why is that slider so mis executed? I don't know, but it was about damn time. And Stanton went out and got what he earned. He deserved all the adulation for this series. Just crazy that we're talking so much about, you know, the final game of the series and for obvious reasons, you know, that makes total sense that we're fixated on it because that was an all time classic baseball game and you could not I don't think you could have told me that on Sunday morning that after the first two of that series like wait till you see the third one. This one's gonna be absolutely balls to the wall. That was an all time game. Saturday was an all time game. I haven't felt like I felt after that Stanton Grand Slam in so long. People were debating most important regular season home runs in recent Yankees history. I think that Stan is the clear winner following maybe the a rod 15 inning to run shot to beat the Red Sox in that momentum turning home series of Yankee Stadium in 2009..

"That's a mental thing. We'll make attributed because even on saturday night when they when when cora and we'll talk about the manager games because i thought they were interesting in how cora and boone were kind of going back and forth saturday night did not make a good move bringing the lefty to face rizzo and then you know obviously heading rizzo which i i understand. You wanna bring lefty on lefty. Because that's the traditional move rizzo. His splits are good against lefties. He the box so much. That hit by pitches is very much in play. And you can't take this man out with giancarlo stanton ondeck standing there. Ready to ready to with the bases loaded and wasted no time and another demoralizing shot out of the fenway park. That was just massive massively clutch. The man was massively clutch all weekend. The two he hit the the grand slam it was more towards center. Feels left center hitting it over everything unless centerfield away park is a frequent bomb. 'cause it's like three seventy five to that part of the wall and then it's the another thirty eight feet in the air. Plus all the stands and everything that thing. That is a missile. And that's the risk when you're to bring in a lefty to face rizzo with the three better minimum you. It's an. It's a chips in the middle of the table. Play because there's two outs in the inning. You absolutely have to get rizzo and if you don't you're facing stanton with a left. Handed reliever who through a batting practice fastball belt high yet. That's what should happen when you throw a meatball giancarlo stanton with the basis loaded. Especially when he's locked in when he's not locked any probably pops that up but when he's locked in that thing goes four hundred eighty feet. Yeah when he's locked in it's over the plate throwing that guy anything anything below around the belt anything below the letter no fastballs. There should be a strict if i'm an opposing team. There's i have a strict. No fastballs policy to judge and stanton when they're when they're the fact that adamant avino actually through judge and out of you know got screwed in that judge because he got him out twice with the pop up to two dow jo- west cowboy joe west august mean. This was two years ago. We were talking about the fact that him being out there is is just a liability to the van of baseball. It's like you can help these umpires. Who just make these horrendous calls especially calls that can't be over that can't be replayed replay. You can't challenge a foul tip. It was not a foul tip. As i think he was a up. He caught it and then the transfer she dropped it. It was full tip. Yes and he caught it and then because otherwise. Why would he would be up. You'll be running. He'll be out cowboy. Joe west needs to be out of the league. We said this two years ago. There's no reason for this guy to be on the field making actual decisions on a baseball diamond that has implications of the game itself. It's embarrassing when you change the course of the game. We've been saying this for for a while. It's not like it's been a recent thing. The man is a liability demand. Fell on somebody a major league baseball player and could not get up years ago. this is craziness. So the fact that he's other judge gets to live essentially the fly ball that daba completely screws up after fly ball after fly ball. We're screwed up by the yankees. It was just that what a mess of an ending that was and then he strikes out foul tip and joe west calls it that the that he dropped the ball catcher. Dropped the ball when in fact it was on the transfer. He clearly caught it. And we're trying to transfer it was it was a grievous and we saw what happened. You know the the out of you know. Got completely screwed. He got completely screwed. But he also through judges fastball. Right down the middle of the plate which ended up being the go ahead double. I don't know why he threw him a fastball because he got ahead of them onto strikes by throwing them sliders in the dirt so questionable beveren. We saw it from out of out of you know for for two seasons. Just this is what he does. This walks you or he'll throw a cookie and you'll get you'll get destroyed out of you know that's why he's absolutely infuriating. Those frisbees that go across the plate normal. He can't control them and then he just gives up the kids. I'm so glad. He's not on the yankees. That made me happy. It's my. I had a little bit of a of an evil smile when that happened. So you want to say that the yankees got lucky. Okay fine but they also took advantage of the luck because plenty of times the season they haven't been able to take advantage of the gifts that other teams have given them and they gave the red sox gift in the previous inning. Lemay human gallo dropping balls. I mean so it was gift. A gift exchange basically the inning. Essentially everybody was was was dropping. Fly balls. they're talking about the elements. Not being there. Would you say to you said before four four. Yeah i think rolling something. I'd to open up the the foul balls in the infield are a lot harder than the gallo and the gallo one is. Just none of them are excusable. Your major league baseball player. You gotta catch foul balls but the gala one lazy fly ball left centerfield..

"Sports with Biden Bill as we push onto our first guest coming up at seven thirty. But I talked to fight a little bit about the unpire 's all the stats that were brought in here. And they said that the unpire 's in two thousand eighteen thirty four thousand two hundred ninety four pitches fourteen per game. And there's a couple of umpires have a persistent to strike bias with two strikes on a batter pyres were twice as likely to call a true ball a strike than with a lower count in the coun-. And how many times have we guys you got a date? Here. It is. Holy. Here's another one to fifty five games in two thousand eighteen ended with an incorrect. Ball strike call. The last out if defies the last pitch a ball. They call it a strike now, you can say you got you gotta better go to resume. You got fly hit the top ten performing umpires averaged two point seven years of experience, which means the younger on part, right? The bottom ten average over twenty years of service while so that that right there tells you a little bit of other thing, I asked this all the time. I kid I remember they get the do playoffs in all-stars own merit. The rotation. I think it's on merit. I think it's still merit. Wow. And then they also said the top five on Pires in the bottom five on parts, you go. Thank you picking on desk. Bill. That's okay. Umpires toss me out of the stands Laskey. Well, the. Like, I said, you know, the top five on Pires or all young guys, Mark Wagner. John Lipka 's thirty two will little thirty five then when you look on the opposite side of bottom five, which they said her twenty years, experienced Ted bear big tall. Ted barrett. Fifty four years old. He's the worst of bad calls. He missed a four thousand two hundred ninety one of them last year eleven point five four percent. And here's your buddy, Jo west cowboy seven years old forty years experience. Rob Drake's up there. A Gary CD Strom. He's sixty four I think I think cedar Stroman west of retired this year. But this is all two thousand eighteen I it's interesting stuff to hear it. And you know, they're always getting graded and go you always hear, you know, pitchers right now is your favorite on pod. Who is your Lee wire was my best not big lean gave you the most trouble. Bruce, roaming, Bill, roaming. Okay. I might be saying farming around from. You remember, Bruce from me, maybe go change my uniform when he was just the typical red. Bungee? There's always mad always growing. Right. I'm always, right. Always say you pitch. I empire. And then you had a lot of guys Frank pulling them on my favorites. He had Ed Brinkman. They were I've worked with them in April. We came to big leagues about the same via the thing that I wanted to throw to you. When we played there was nationally umpires in America. They were totally different strike owns the American League umpires big is their major league strike zone. I don't believe. So I like what I told you in the beginning the boxes the box. I think that's what they look at. I hate the Bach. Yeah. You want to get a call eight k are few on jump on here. Let's get some calls coming in. We got maverick from Sonora maverick. You're on can be our vitamin Bill tonight. How are you? Are you doing maverick? What's going on? You got your homework done. The saturday. Okay. Was your favorite player maverick? Did you watch the giants game today? Maverick. What did you think Madison? Bumgarner pitched pretty good. Who's your who's your favorite giants in the active players? Why why why do you like BUSTER Posey's so much? He's a catcher you catcher. What position do you play maverick? He's a pitcher pitcher. Oh, so was your best pitcher. If pitcher. Who do you like? By his. Better puffs feeding a male here, man. We watch old school baseball. I told him I watch vita blue pitch back in the day. And he and he watches YouTube videos before you feel video the pitchy. That's when you had hair. White. From heart back. All yeah. I used to live in twain Harte area, you got some flooding into Nora a couple of weeks ago. Right. Oh, yeah. But you know, what the bass fishing off the hook out here. Oh, I bet right now. Release. So you do a little little lunch on on the shore there when you go out data and we're going to Mavericks fishing tournament. Tomorrow. Don, Pedro good. Love was the good lawyer a device to name if you ever up here. We'll take him up on it. If I ever get back up my four daughters have been trying to get me back up there and laid is married to invite left all the time. But I just come up to play golf at the mountain springs on Mondays green, Honda whizzy and saddle creek. Oh, fries. I had it made up them into whether it was nice what they say of above the fog below the snow some little advertisement that they used for the foothills up there. Now, you said, Melissa. Yeah. We appreciate your time. Ovalles to some of the things that come about when we get back to the Pires when you start seeing numbers like this. And you said it maybe some of these guys when they get over fifty fifty five I think maybe the games too fast for it is the players are big fast strongest speed of the ball out to the ball that line. You got to be vigilant. When you watch the plays, especially from the from the pitching this mother question. Do you think it would just the thought guys that liked to do first base second base third base and guys that like to do home plate? Would you just let them specialize net? That's a great call. I I like that. Because maybe of course, you can't have the guy do the play two days in a right, right? Right. But maybe two out of the four guys. Absolutely. But then again, I I like them rotate like that. I know you, and I both talked about this so many times where you'd come into a city, and you're like, okay, I'm pitching. Guy. I know my guys second base and things like that. So close too bad boys, enema, limo, Joe schmo. But I mean, I I really go back to when we play was you got to know Pires you got to know the strike zone. You got to know them personally year after year. Right. And you know, you talk to them here. And there now that they change you don't even know what group comes in and they change per series. It's not like they're there for the home series through. There are different things that they're tune rotate. But, you know, same thing, I I'd like to know how many replays were turned over, you know, after the replay was done because you gotta have that evidence of you're going to return turn out to see if it's viable to continue to use it. It's interesting percentage of calls were overturned. But when I read this article, I thought how thirty four thousand pitches. Start shift in my head. A lot of pitches. You a lot of games again. It's probably over a million pitches. Yeah. Think so so is that what's that? What percentage of that? They're saying fourteen per game or missed that's the average that was the average and then they said one point six per inning. And you know, you're you're, you know, a lot of the movement is the cutter now that back foot slider. Well, no the till. Here's what happens. They miss a call. Then they try to make up a call. That's right. That's what adds today. That's who they make one up then they give one back to the posing team. Then they give you on. Then they give somebody else when you go like just a ball abolish strike because he's in three twenty home plate should not be as wide as debate Brie. And I still believe if you've got a rookie on the mound. And you've got a veteran. It's been in the league ten twelve years. The veterans going to get that ball office of veteran pitcher. Rookie hitter. Sure. But it should strike strike is a strike is a strike is a strike. I remember a line that Bruce said to me what I said, where's that pitch? Whereas pitchy goes I can make you or break keep arguing with. And you know, what I still remember him saying that to me and look years ago, and I on pack, but it's true. An empire can do that. Yeah. I'm pyre can't at the worst of all this when they hold a grudge some incident that happened. Let's say even AAA in the big leagues that come home and let let it go. Let it go. Well, we're going to talk to our first guest here coming up in a couple of minutes, Gary Lavelle, and we're going to ask him because Pudge never argued. Did. He I never saw him arguing for ball. He doesn't have a mean bone in eight doesn't he still doesn't either? So let's take a break and bring out our good, buddy. Gary Lavelle on Cain. Be are the sports leader will be right back. He's on the hill with vita blue and Bill Laskey sponsored by Nargis markets with eight locations to serve you in.
