"jj danny" Discussed on The Paul Finebaum Show

"Right. I mean, the fact that the response has been so strong so over the top, he does kind of look better in hindsight when he hits the one who instigated it. You know, he is the one who really cranked the link tiffin into the mix too. Like you mentioned, I guess sliced bread might be the original instigator and all of this. But actually that we've seen time and time again from Texas and M shows that they take this, it's very and you know, it's just I feel like I've seen this playbook a little bit in the past and it'll be interesting to see how things play out long term but it does seem like they have just been responding a little too strongly then it's probably necessary given that they really had probably the public on their side up but they decided to expect John Halsey was his thank you, John. We'll talk to you very soon. John's absolutely right about that. If they had, if Fisher and Ross York had taken a deep breath and forgotten they were no longer in college, when one of the fraternities had egged their house, they could have made Sabin look stupid. They could have surgically come after him in a way that no one has really had an opportunity to do off the field. Instead, they went predictable overreaction, scorched earth, DEFCON one. And have Nick Saban, who made a serious error, is now looking like Nick Saban always looks. We'll take a break, more to come right after this. You are listening to the Paul fine bomb show podcast. Bow's up next, calling from Nashville. Hello. Hey, Paul. How's it going? Very well. Thank you. I just want to talk a little bit about baseball. I'm going to miss that. Actually, I'd go to old mist right now, but really excited for the rebels, but I've been seeing all this hate that Tennessee has gotten just the players. I honestly, every single one of their fans deserves a hike because I hate their fans with a passion, but that baseball team made by baseball really fun to watch this year, man. And I enjoyed watching it. Probably up until they came to Oxford and swept us, but we're going Tom hall now and they're not. It's all good, but I really don't think they deserve the type that they're getting. Thank you for the call. Hoyt is up next in Louisiana. How about hoyt? Hey. How are you? Good. What's going on? How old are you, hoyt? 7. 7. Very young caller. I've just called because I just want to know if you want to guess. And football is going to be a lot better than she is. I think LSU is going to be significantly significantly better. They have a really good coach and Brian Kelly. I hope you have a good season. Cheering for them to ponga is up next in Mississippi. How are you? Hey, Paul. How are you? How old are you, topaga? It's just and I'm 14. And you're 14 topanga. Okay, well, good for you. Who are you a fan of? I'm a fan of Alabama, and I was wanting to know, do you think Alabama's going to make it to the playoffs this year? I certainly do right now, I think they were going to be the prohibitive favorite. Thanks so much. Appreciate the call. Let's check out ansley up next. Good afternoon. Good afternoon. And today, about caller that you had that denigrating lawyer saying Shakespeare said to kill all of the lawyers. Right. The second half of that sentence says, if you want to have no justice, so that's like a lot of religious votes take part of the scripture and use it to prove the point that the rest of changes changes the whole lot. You know, I have to say, Angela, you were in my day. I always thought that was that was part of Shakespeare. I didn't realize there was something more to the sentence. So, and that's because that's how most people use it. That's how most people use it. But I really call this about Jimbo on your program saying that the business between Dallas and Houston would be able to get any player they wanted. Because of the business opportunities, the hat there, and he was making no bones about it on your show. And I just wondered if anybody else had commented about that. I had not, hey, thank you for the call. We'll get to that in a minute. We'll also have much more on Henry the 6th. The Shakespeare quote, which is very controversial. We're coming right back. You can just see this. Pizza. Pizza. And I just feel like coming to. The they were really good. They were after the pizza was really good. And then coming to the campus, it was my first time in Bristol and the conference is huge and it's really impressive, I think, to walk to walk in and see what you don't need to be as well done. Well done. It's great to meet the boss. He was lovely. I got a little nice to me. Yes. Did he go eat the pizza with Pete? Did he go with you and eat the pizza? Yeah, you did. Oh, how was your ears after that? Oh no, it was great. It was great. Peace me and building a shed this weekend. He rang me up and gave me a great detail on what he had to do. And people don't know who Pete is. No one cares. Since that information he runs really like to smack this gum in our ear. Oh, yes. Yeah. Jules, have the boys taken you out at a steakhouse at steakhouse yet, if so, how do you like your steak prepared? And who paid? Who paid for the pizza? You will pee. Pete's Pete did. Yeah. I know we went to the wings. But New Haven pizza. Great. Corporate card. It's the way it's supposed to be done. Steak, where do you stand? How do you have it? It's like high quality went on. I have to be honest. My dad has a well done. I grew up, I grew up having you well done, so I'm not going to change anything. I'm getting a snake. Next time you come here. You're not going to pay $43 for a steak for Joel. I'll get a lot to cook at. Sauce. Jules, did you hear the story of when Stevie invited gav over for dinner? And he was like, oh, I get Ellen to make a nice spaghetti bolognese. Cab goes. Well, I'm not going to come unless the pasta's Al dente. Master properly, then you know. I was hot. Oh my God. I'm not surprised. That was it. Well, we were never allowed to order from the menu when you would get. Well, there we go. That is it, Jules. I hope you come back here soon. That'd be lovely. I never got to see jewelry. Did you not? No, but these are can't wait. I know, aliens in there. ESPN have seen it back on your screens and tomorrow. "And there's so much here with all of this, but then there's Carson Wentz through the commander's traded for, of course, to get he'll be playing on his third team in three seasons and he'll surely be paying close attention to how it all plays out between McLaren and Washington. So field what is the potential fallout beyond the actual contract when it comes to the Maclaurin situation? Yeah, Laura, I'm glad you said that because it's much more than just the dollars and cents of the deal. If you were to do a straw poll of the entire Washington commander's franchise, at which players the most respected, perhaps the most talented on offense and certainly amongst the guys that sets the example of what you want in a player, Terry McClure might be unanimous pick. This is a guy who over three seasons in the NFL with 8 different quarterbacks and still been one of the best wide receivers in the league. By the way, none of those 8 quarterbacks are exactly Aaron Rodgers. Moreover, he's an incredible person. A guy's been a team captain, a guy who has taken as much pride in key blocks as he has acrobatic catches that he makes. If you don't reward a player like this, a homegrown talent in the third round is a diamond in the rough for you. What kind of locker room message is that sending to other guys who are saying if Terry of all people can't get a new deal done or at least a deal that pays him fairly, what do I have to do to earn my next contract with the Washington commanders? Every good player is important to lock up. But when you have a guy who has rare football character like Terry mclaurin, it makes it that much more essential. Babyface, I like the points you made about his presence. Around that organization and that franchise and you hit the nail on the head about if they don't sign this guy, what about us? People are watching it. So that's why I think ro Rivera needs to be the voice. To not only get Terry mclaurin, hey, but to also go to the front office and say, this is a guy that should be considered the cornerstone of a franchise and a guy that we believe going forward in the future is going to be a positive about what's going on with the Washington commanders with everything that's trans transpiring around this organization. Ron Rivera was brought in to be a leader in a tumultuous time with the Washington football team at the time and now the Washington commanders. This is another step in the process of trying to clean whatever they can up by having this get done and him leading the way as far as getting that done and I believe we're all Rivera wheel because he's always been a guy that respects the work and respects leadership and character in players based on the things that I've known and heard about it. Yeah, let's take it to the actual football that we can expect on the field. I mean, what are your expectations for Carson Wentz? Another chance here and the commander's offense this season. Well, not only is it another chance, Laura, it's another good chance. I think people are kind of overlooking the Washington commanders offense. Assuming McLaren plays and I do think he will. It's actually a really decent group of skill players between him, John Dodson. Why did she write a Penn State with a big catch radius? I love. Hopefully they can get more out of cursed Samuel and Diane Brown. And then it offensive line that I think is one of the sneaky underrated groups in the league, finishing first in ESPN's run black win rate win rate metric, which measures how long they can hold their blocks for 2.5 seconds or less. And then 9th in pass block win rate, and I find myself saying the same thing about Carson Wentz that I think a lot of us said about him in Indianapolis, which is, it's kind of on you. At this point, it just offense fails. You gotta take responsibility for it and it's incredible to me that we're in that similar situation. If you had to compare quickly the situations that Wentz has been in with the colt and then now with Washington, which one is better for him, you think. That's a great question. I think they're pretty similar. I actually Washington's skill players is better than what Indianapolis had last year. So, you know, I would actually say, and maybe tilts towards the commanders, when you look at everyone around them, although I should mention Jonathan Taylor probably swings it back to Indianapolis. It's interesting. It's been too great situations right to Mina's point. All right, we got time for one more thing before we go. Guys, eagles, rookie wide receiver, Devin Allen, won 110 meter hurdles at the USA TF NYC Grand Prix on Sunday. He finished with a time of 12.84 seconds. That's the third fastest time in history. Looks like me on the way to the ESPN cafeteria. Look at this guy, unbelievable. He's so fast. It's great. And by the way. I like that before I was born, y'all. Oh, before you were born. Like when you were still in the womb, you were doing that. Your mom in the belly. What could have gone to the camera at the end too? You knew exactly what he was doing. Hey, backbones well, another great weapon there for the eagles in the NFC east. Guys, we will see you tomorrow on NFL live. We got a great week with mandatory mini camps here on the show. So make sure you tune in every single day and we will be back with a whole lot more. See you then and thanks to everybody for being with us today. Hi. "Caught offside with edry. Gummy and jj davani. Oh yes. Caught offside suburbs of new york city in an apartment brooklyn. New york urgency podcast. I'd rather not be doing andrew gone lane. Jj danny what is off rather but not much is up a lot of down andrew. A lotta down tonight in panama city. The us are defeated tonight in world cup qualifying to panama one. Nil your final alone. Second-half goal off a corner kick and that was that for. Obviously we are covering the american perspective of this. Some people need reminding of that. As i saw are mentioned earlier Boy that was a rough watch. That was first half honduras for ninety minutes That was maybe some things that the us has been able to get by with catching up with them. Tonight which will will talk about And it is also a sign that we should never play a another competitive match on october tenth again. This was of course the four year anniversary of the fateful night against trinidad just brutal. Just absolutely brutal. One of those games where you're just waiting and thinking okay. Well they're going to wake up at some point. I mean like it can't be like this for ninety minutes and adjust you know. Maybe when brendan aronson came on the second half. You've got a little bit of that energy that he is so good at providing but not i mean just nothing just nothing. Adra they stank. They joe stank from the beginning of the game to the end I said on the last podcast and you call me professional. I don't i said. I didn't think i'd written so few notes a this one. I have nothing that i can point to say. That was good. That was a move that shorts and good combinations. There's the midfield functioning. Look at that good piece to play plan out of the back. It all stank. Heavy first torches passing to the opposition getting caught on the counter. Just just rubbish. I not a single shot on target in ninety seven minutes against panama unacceptable. Yeah zero shots on target till one story but sometimes shots on target. Don't always tell the story you know. Sometimes you have chances that. Don't technically register as shot on target. Not there was like nothing. No i can't go fishing or searching for any moment in this game where i kinda like inched forward on my couch. A little bit in like anticipation. Maybe you need a bid of inching on three minutes with the header from walker zimmerman. Okay sure and it was a tiny bit of inching. Yeah okay fine yes. I'll i will grant you that that centimeter my way up on the couch when that happened but really nothing I i kind of was sifting through some of the game material afterwards I have not heard very much of gregg berhalter post game. But what i have heard. So far he He went in on the midfield. And you know some people may blame him partially for it. Women will talk about selections but Yeah we can say what we want about his selections for it we have. We have come to expect more from those players You know we saw flashes from yunus mussa who was taken off after forty five minutes tonight. He was by tuna. I mean over running the ball running into blind alleys right. When i say we saw flashes i mean like in their last game. I don't mean tonight in the first forty five minutes. I generally speaking. We've seen him and we've come to expect like when you see his name on the team sheet. You don't think what's he doing there you know. That's we expect more from him You know carolina kosta he. He falls into that. Mls category where. There's always gonna be fans when they see certain names on team sheet. They raise their eyebrows. But he's someone that we hadn't been speaking negatively of. I think a lot of fans had been coming around on him. And i'm not gonna write him off after one performance but not good tonight just not good giveaways. That's kind of my indelible memories from this game are some you know. Acosta giveaways in the middle of the pitch that sprung counterattacks the other way No bear halter talked about just that midfield was not up to it tonight and that that is certainly part of it but that is not that is not the whole story there were failures all over the place in this one at scott tweeted this out which i found amusing in the midst of the horror of watching this game. The early knock on bare halter was that he was too rigid tactician. So i think it's pretty brave that he came out for this game with no tactics at all. I mean there was there was. You couldn't see a plan. No you couldn't see your plan. There were seven changes to the lineup. So yet when you make that kind of massive change to your team when you essentially got your side like that and bringing all these pieces like for example walker. Zimmerman on mackenzie have played. I think i saw thirty four minutes together in that position in total for the us. Men's national team so they come together tonight. Bello on jack in to i guess offer with do fullbacks. We did not get enough from before back position tonight. We we did not we. The midfield was shocking wasteland. Like you can go in on tim. Way who was the invisible mono there and jesse's ariza's who was a punching bag for for supporters. Anyway paul ariola dot kind of attacking triumvirate if you wanna call it that paula. Kerr tweeted this. Us men's national team midfield trio cost legit a mussa completed. Eleven passes to each other in the first half against jamaica. The midfield three adams mckanie and mussa completed thirty. Six passes to each other in the first half this. I mean the midfield was nonexistent. It was like a byron wasteland devoid of creativity dane but more than that. They couldn't get on the ball and get just string a move together. Just set it down. You often hear The old school managers when decides just conceded a goal. or something. you know they're trying to set into the game. Just get your foot on it and put four or five passes together settling into a rhythm. There was no rhythm was was Joseph lowry on twitter made a good point about some of the passing from the back. Four you know in a bear holter side you wanna be able to pass. Through the units pass posit from defense and work it into midfield create things from the back and their inability to do. That was was striking tonight. Just everything it was. It was rubbish. it was just rubbish. None of it worked and it's one that they've got to put behind them quickly. Yeah they really do. I mean they can't afford bear halter talked after the first win in this current triumvirate of matches about how you know if we if we i forget the exact wording us but something to the effect of if we think were you hot s and go come out with that mentality against panama. We'll get our asking. And i'm trying to think was tonight about we. Did they did the. Us play poorly tonight because there was complacency. I don't i don't necessarily think so. Especially because so many of those players weren't guys who played in that jamaica match the other night that we're getting all this praise so i don't know if that was it i i'm having a hard time putting my finger on exactly. What would cause team to play so poorly. Maybe they were a little bit surprised by the adrenaline which panama came out from early on and kinda was able to sustain that for much of the match But you know. Panama won this game deservedly. So but it's not like it was. It wasn't like they were peppering. Turner with chance after chance after chance that you know they weren't. They weren't unbelievable. They were better than the. Us were certainly there. Were firing them. Firing away the more dangerous side the more likely site..

"Caught offside with andrew gumming and jj. Danny caught offside from the upper west side of manhattan from an apartment in brooklyn new york. Andrew gunning j. j. davani part two of the epl preview spectacular. What's up brother andrew. I'm so excited. This is it the the end is near. We've got grit mail bag. The listeners of really stepped up to the plate and eaten. Whatever has been on the plate. Because that's what you do when you go to the players and it's going to be a great podcast and we've got a great guest. Oh do we ever. Danny higginbotham cannot wait for this conversation. You've seen him of course on. Nbc sports over the past year. Remember him as a as a primarily player He's also a color commentator for the philadelphia union this year. Although this is a an ep l. preview so our focus with him will be mainly premier league and some nostalgia is well because he's a great storyteller. And i i'm sure he's got great stories from his time in the league. I'm so excited. This is one of my favorite podcasts. That we do not just for our. Epl previews but period like in general. Because i love we go all in on the mailbag and we just like invite your letters and the response. I'm always blown away by it and once again. Our listeners have been phenomenal. they have come out in full force. we have an awesome mailbag and I'm super excited about it. At the end of this podcast. Jj of course. We will do our predictions there utterly meaningless unless they are correct and like we always say we We do not forget we. Revisit them at the midway point of the season and we revisit them at the end of the season. So we're not just like we don't just throw stuff out there. Hope that everyone forgets no-no. We hold ourselves accountable because you. That's what you the listener demands and deserves quite. Frankly i i gotta be honest. I hit my predictions. I hit predictions in general as anyone who knows me down the years on this podcast day. No i am crap at them on. I don't like doing them. Bought bought andrew. I have done them again because that is what we do at this time of year. Yeah as a general observation. The i i also found them very difficult this year. And i think it's because i feel like i'm coming into this season where i don't necessarily have a bad feeling about a lot of teams like maybe it's just Generally speaking on this podcast. We make jokes. Oh it is a bright future all that stuff. But i think generally speaking i'm more of the optimist on this show and you're more the pessimist and i feel that that is shining through with me as i approach the season when when i was previewing and looking at these teams i feel like i see a lot of teams through shiny rimmed glasses. Yeah and i. I think for me in my predictions what what i found was there was a lot of things that were just screamingly obvious to me on. I decided to kind of maybe push against it a little bit because otherwise would be very very boring. And i don't want to put out rules Answers that we've given every year although in the mail bag it's interesting one club. I feel exactly the same way about as i did Last summer it is. Also your nature to be contrarian no i enjoy conversation about football more than anything. I think that's the best. The best thing about about the game is that you can. You can look at it from a bunch of different angles and that you're not just completely consumed by your own club like the modern twitter fan is and i'm not talking about our listeners here because our listeners and fairness are are pretty well rounded but the modern twitter fan. I can't hack. who are you. Know the tunnel vision. Mike club Just mike lob my lens how can i degrade everybody else and not take care and interest in in the rest of the league. I can't do that. I mean look. That's a huge element of fan culture. That's not just twitter culture. I think there's an element of fan culture of either. You're with us or against us. You can't not. Can i say that. Maybe maybe maybe you think that that's the case But i some friends. And i'm thinking of one in particular Leeds united fan. And he's brilliant. He is the most committed leads fan. You will ever meet. He has the the tickets dogs. They they the airplane miles across your following this team through good and bad mostly madden last decade. And he can talk about other teams other clubs other players and i praise or their players. Isn't it isn't all about needs with him. That fan is i would say in the minority right now Yeah maybe maybe there's some truth that you know what i find myself as a fan. When i'm speaking with other tottenham fans like i have no problem and the truth is on this podcast. I destroy them at times as well. But like when i'm talking with other tottenham fans i have no problem just going into a bash fest where we just like tear them apart and and but like the second if somebody were to walk into that group who like is like a west ham fan or something and just would look at us and be like. Yeah i know right. Like i would instantly turn on him and just be like what are you know. You don't know anything about this club. How dare you talk negatively about. This is the greatest club. I i feel like. I have no tolerance to hear. Oh others outsiders say it. But like i agree with all the criticism. I just don't always want to hear it. From from you know non supporters. I to chelsea fans turned up at the Monroe barrow last year. Last season For the a for liverpool chelsea game and very nice people. Lovely people Bought the i. I turned on the instantly started called tores You know my god thing and anti chelsea songs the whole thing but we had a laugh about it like you know they were. They educated are they were They had the emotional intelligence to know that i wasn't like attacking them. It was just a bit of a bit of Terrible word banter. I cringe when you say it band sadler. "Spend jj. I waited it down with magnets to make sure that will on one final session andrea of group trivia right. Well i'm gonna get everything wrong all right because i'm tired at this point really tired. That will only reflect poorly on you so at least try all right first. Question francis goal kante is one of the players this summer. Who will be looking for the rare european cup european championship. In the same season ten players have done at all time including two most recently the two thousand sixteen euros. Can you name them. Cristiano renaldo yup I'll give me the other one i. The ageless pet day of course and pepper All right second question. Jj cristiano renaldo scores one goal in this tournament. He'll be come the all time leading score in the european championships breaking a tie with this frenchman. frenchmen are. It's an older frenchman. Correct are we doing this where you kind of a. It's not a recent is not. Is it no no. So it's further back. That shoes fontaine no okay platini buttoning michelle platini with nine one gulf from rinaldo by the way of has like a big. I think reason has six so if he has like a crazy tournament and rinaldo doesn't do anything then like who knows maybe agreement could take the mantle from fellow countrymen all right and finally. Jj the last question. Now this one is this. One is weird and different. You're just. You're just trying to hurt me on this. This one though is not that you can't be hurt with this one and you will. You will actually enjoy because you think you're smarter than everyone and this dog really that all right ready so many lawyer. Jj was recently a contestant. Celebrity contestant on germany's version of who wants to be a millionaire and he was incredible. He won five hundred thousand euros for charity. He came one question shy of the million dollar prize. Unbelievable here is the million dollar. The million euro question that he wound up choosing not to answer in favour of playing it safe and walking away with five hundred grand. Are you ready go. Okay to nuremberg's martin ben hame. We owe the oldest surviving. What a compass. B slide rule c. globe or d magnetic compass globe. Jj danny you have won a million euros. Sketch it and globe is the answer. He was a german cartographer and his was from fourteen ninety. It's now in the possession of the german national museum in nerve. He's in my top ten cartographers. So i knew that straightaway. If you were lawyers phone a friend he would have won a million euros for charity. Well i would have been guessing by the way really. You didn't know that. "Caught offside with every gumming and jj davani. Yes called oxide. From the suburbs of new york city in an apartment in brooklyn new york get is one of the us a mexico games of all time. Andrew bundling and jj. Danny what's up brother yourself. You have to understand my situation. Jj i am literally broadcasting my end of the podcast right now from a blanket. Fort that i have made in my in my living room. I'm dead serious light. Why why is this this this game. She'll be known as the battle of fort. Andrew it's a natural question to ask so normally when we do these late night emergency podcast you know obviously every my my two kids and my wife are all asleep. I mean my god. It's like what is it is one. Am right now. It's twelve forty two and so they all go to sleep in. It's like all right all good. I'll just go in the basement like it's not a big house but no one can hear me from the basement. So it's all good My sister-in-law and her two year old came to visit this weekend and they decided at around six o'clock tonight that they were going to stay raw another night and so they're sleeping in the basement and so we've kinda hit me at about six zero one What where am i going to go tonight to do. This and my wife was like oh. Just stay in the living room. It's fine no one will hear you but everyone will hear me. Because i'm loud and that game was crazy and so i built a four out of blankets that i'm doing this right now to try to dull the sound. I'm bats way. You're trying to contain your your. Your joy is overflowing joy. But you're trying to not vocalise it as much. So i would say in the history of great silent screaming games or moments the horvath penalty safe tonight. It vaults to number one on my list of silence screams. That occurred after midnight. Where i'm afraid. I'm gonna wake everybody up in my house. This is now one in the silent. Screaming power rankings and it passes probably from the last epic us mexico match when bobby woods scored late again that the us wound up losing in the concacaf cup final But when bobby would score that was also super late and that was also a rated very highly on the silent screaming meter but this tonight the penalty. Save from horvath this game. Jj obviously you me all of our listeners. We've seen a lot of usa mexico over the years. These teams play a lot. They meet in high stakes games. A lot. I'm trying not to be prisoner of the moment i'm going back in my head and i'm thinking about the last twenty to twenty five years and i don't know i don't know if i can think for from the american fan perspective. I don't know if i can think of a better one. This was epic tonight. Oh a better one. I mean when you're talking about the pre pre game. I think someone brought up the the twenty seventeen one. One draw in the azteca. So you're kinda in that zone. There's not being that many of them through an exciting games but usually the us men's national team out on the wrong side of it. I'm thinking of the gold cup in twenty thirteen with the giovanni just scientists absolute goal lonzo game. Yeah but one of my favorite of all time. Except it was against the us And then the confederations cup playoff. Twenty fifteen again at the rose bowl but again that was that was the defeat the us came up the wrong side and that one this is a this was such a huge amazing game and when you think of how the game started and you think of all the twists and turns in this one Just amazing an amazing game on. I'm well daunted to the us to to get some silverware. That is look this is a tournament. I want to place the tour to context because people will say you know there'll be people out there who are not us fines and they'll be what what's what's the big deal about. This is a maki opie tournament yet. Like when it when it was announced we had so many listeners. What is this. Why is this happening now. And it was basically to copied european model of making friendly's competitive and worthwhile and filling international windows big games but from the defeat in toronto then turning around at home and now the big long hiatus between the group games the semifinal and the finals it's been an odyssey but this is silver where for this young team and like i said on last week's pod it doesn't matter that is the concacaf champions are nations league or whatever you wanna call. This is important because it's a big win in the big spot against mexico that that is huge. Tell me if this makes sense to you. What i'm about to say. Oftentimes in in any level of competition in any sport the the caliber of the competition gives the game meaning. I think what we witnessed tonight is the rare occasion where the complete and total opposite of that is true where the intensity of the game is. Now what has given this competition. Meaning like you're right. Everything you just said about when this tournament was first announced. Oh this is silliness their turn. They're trying to do this just to make friendly's boost tv ratings or whatever revenue and we all kind of mocked it but my god i mean those two teams out on that field tonight. They were were. They not desperate to win this game. An all one hundred percent. I was doers. Such an intensity like you said to the game from that from the very start from both sides sometimes it manifested itself in in nervous energy. And we'll get to that because this was not this. Fire from grit. Us performance might not even have been a very good one in terms of what we're now expecting in this new era of us soccer with the young players coming through but that aside the intensity was there There was a lot of players out there who i felt really got. We talked about a baptism of concacaf. Fire against doris well. We saw a baptism and a lot of that. Baptism was in beer on the sidelines beer plastic cups water bottles for some of these young. Us players. and i mean if they had any doubt as to what the this rivalry is now fully understand it by the end of this one hundred twenty minutes i guess was just like a certain level of concha. Chaos that surrounded this game tonight that just kind of took it to almost a different level and you mentioned the beer bottles and all that that's straight up ugliness and it's hideous. Gio raina was hurt then late on When pure was down in the corner more of it. And it looked. Like i couldn't tell who but mexican player wound up getting hit by projectiles. That's it's disgraceful. But even on remarking was it boy one but even beyond that you had. I mean goals the craziness of the goals aside a second minute goal too late controversial penalties one of which was saved just like the madness of the game itself but at halftime you had a fan charge. The cbs set and jump over a railing. By the way. Do even know how far that railing drops that guy could be dead for all we know. All many fans run on the field. This was utter chaos in denver tonight by the way if that guy had that burst into the to the back of the cbs studio had anything political are had any kind of point he wished to make. Nobody got us and nobody heard it. I mean it would be nice if simpson style as he vaulted over the side. You could hear. I regret nothing exactly. No it was wild tonight..

Takeaways from the Manchester United-Spurs match

"Oh, man. What a show, what a show you heard the start there? Lucas more scoring. The third goal for Spurs his second on the day against Manchester United. We'll start there as I take a look back at some of the games from over this past weekend. There were really just so many interesting talking points. I thought for an early season game. I really thought that that Spurs United match was fascinating in so many different regards. And I kind of just jotted down all. All the things that captured my attention over the course of those ninety minutes and then beyond for those who stuck with that game after it ended as Josie conducted his bizarre lap of honour, and then even more bizarre, press conference. It just feels like it's all kind of unraveling and he's trying to write his own errative as this all comes apart underneath him. But here I'll go through this kind of as I have it laid out in in almost a stream of consciousness here, but the things that stood out to me, I when I look at Manchester United squandered opportunities, seventeen seconds in Fred's got a chance that he puts wide Rome Lulu Kaku with essentially an open net after Danny rose, just with with a sloppy back pass, never makes it to Hugo Reese. Lukaku scoops it up. He's got an open net goes round the keeper and then just puts it wide. I mean, for for an attacker for a striker central forward of his caliber, he just has to score. I know. Things can happen, and it's a tough angle and it's wrongfoot I understand that. But we're talking about one of the best strikers in Europe. He's got a score that goal. You know later on shortly after that Luke Shaw who was great in this game. If United fans are looking for positive, he started the season really, really brightly, and I thought he continued that in this game makes great. Move down. The wing gets it to Lukaku from a decent scoring position scuffed the shot. No, polka from distance a little bit later on in the match. But right at the keeper, you know, even after Spurs scored Manchester United to their credit, kept their head up. They came right back down just right off of the restart. And you know, you go to recess forced into a good save. United did have opportunities, and they squandered every single one of them. It's a tough pill to swallow. If you're a Manchester United fan, unfortunately, or fortunately, it's just part of this game, and I talk about that all the time more than any other game.
