Homophonix Artist Interviews: Rainbow Riots
"We begin in Stockholm. It is true that Sweden produces an astonishing amount of legendary music small country. Third and world music exports after the US and the UK. No surprise that within the queer communities are Sweden there exists a bevy of talent. Rainbow Reports is a nonprofit organization using arts and coach as tools to advocate for human rights, LGBT Iq, plus people globally. Now. More than ever. Our focuses humane humans should be equality and acceptance for all. It is clear that social justice is not yet where it should be, which is why arts and coach organizations like Rainbow, riots exist if you're lucky enough to live in a country where there oiled ubt brides, a lot of times people get complacent and they think, oh, this is the norm. This is the standard while it ain't Jinnai they're like seventy plus countries in the world grades illegal with same sex relations and where people get killed where where. A death penalty sometimes. Free. Sometimes I think we have freedom, but the struggle still continues. The filed the torture still continues. The fight for freedom still continues. Let's put our hands together for freedom for freedom. Through Rainbow Riots Hitter Lemberg brings to light the ongoing injustices faced by LGBT plus family worldwide. With a background in music production visuals, events publication in community projects combined with an amazingly generous creative spirit. Is Well to use music and media to inform and educate. Rainbow riots invited artists from several countries to take part in a concert as part of the Stockholm pride two, thousand and seventeen. They also made their presence known within the pride parade from the back of a truck proudly blasting out there incredible musical achievements. I asked Peta which countries were represented. On the rainbow riots flow we had a representatives from Sweden what and we had Uganda Kenya. We had Malawi and we had Jamaica. One of the standout tracks from that for me was a song called freedom. See the crowd. Jumping into. Heard? Freedom. To it in such a way can you tell me up freedom came about when I started making freedom which I co? Bro With? Lesbian rapid called you'll be she's A. Legendary rap group in this in the states called. And when we wrote it, it was kind of like part of my old project housing Wallenberg and kind of thought. It was going to be part of that. But then as I started gravitating towards doing something with Queer activism around the world I, started turning my movement Rainbow Rides into a creative project and I thought well, freedom should be part of that. Really. So that's when I went down to Uganda and started working in Uganda 'cause I thought if I'm going to make this album with queer voices from the world's most dangerous places I've gotta go to the belly of the beast which is Uganda. So I thought okay. Well, I've got to go there ain't going to be nice in preschool ad. And before I went like my passport was running out, so yeah, they add to reissue a possible at the Swedish apple before my flight and they gave me a pink. And I thought. How appropriate with driving along well, exactly Scotland I'm going into Uganda practically waving rainbow flags. This is not going to end well because I was not sure what to expect the anything I'd seen and heard was that nobody nobody in Uganda who was queer was safe and everybody was you know hiding whenever you saw an interview with somebody they will always hiding behind a blood pixellated sort of thing and and not just come to know people going to want to be part of this project. Is it going to be really difficult? What am I going to expect? So therefore came prepared with a song that I'd already written which with freedom I thought at the best maybe I can get some people to dogs in the video at least will have something. But when I arrived, I found a thriving queer community with love creativity and that's how the project started. When I arrived in Uganda realized wow I could really make a whole out I could turn this into something much bigger or they're already artists to establish themselves within the community who were making music. N You lots of quiz singers and performers an artist, and I ended up right in the middle of it. So you know I arrived armed with one song and you know it turned into an album of freedom was starting song, and of course, a features my my old correcting partner you'll be of your majesty but also features a Ugandan singer cold deep lack on bicycle and also on the spoken word intro and the thing about freedom was the I always knew that it was really instant kind of be happy pride song and I just wanted to dot context to put it in. Something else. So it's not just the body, song? To. Put it into context of something really really important life and death and I kinda thought what what better way to to get the message out to make people ons. That was to make them listen.

"Day's news plus president from britain's obe literature of iran he's fallen in love with this word is used it a couple of times in the last couple of days and i will admit this is a great word obliteration is a now realistically speaking is anything going to be obliterated certainly hope not nobody's interested in war least of all president trump but we'll get to a little bit of that in just a little while i however i haven't unfortunate notification for you apparently according to google nazi so i figured i would have known about this i figured that if i wore a nazi i would have been the first to know and as an honest person i would have told you about that but apparently i'm a very covert and sneaky jewish nazi which is the worst kind i wear a yarmulke i talk about my religion i go to synagogue on regular basis i talk about nazis are evil i talk about how white supremacy is evil eye talk about how the alright is evil this is very clever of me i will say it is a very clever way of me to be a nazi but according to google nonetheless that's exactly what's going on secretly using my magical ju- dog whistle i am capable of signaling to the nazis out there wink yeah guys i'm on your side this is according to apparently an insider over google and that's good to know because frankly i wasn't really unborn with this but i learned something about myself today i learned something about dennis prager to apparently dennis prager another religious jew who happens to spend most of his life talking about how nazis are terrible i learned dennis prager is also a nazi so we've formed our own friday night protocols of the elders zion nazi party meeting and then we welcome in our goya friend welcome in jordan peterson apparently jordan peterson also nazi despite the fact that he literally wrote the introduction to the gulag archipelago and also speaks regularly about the evils of totalitarianism apparently jordan is a nazi too i will say it's a weird nazi group seems like it's a little schizophrenic this particular nazi group but according to an internal email over google we are in fact nazis so you live you'll learn you laugh according to james o'keefe we've been doing this internal investigation google project veritas obtained a newly leaks documents from google that appears to show a google employee and member of google's transparency and ethics group calling conservative and libertarian commentators including dennis prager and ben shapiro nazis project veritas received this document after the release of its investigation into google through the be brave campaign at veritas tips have proton mail dot com now i will note the tremendous irony of an internal email from a transparency and ethics group so not transparent because they wouldn't say this stuff publicly so that we could point out that no in fact not only might not nazi i'm one of their lead targets which is why have twenty four seven armed security the no i'm not a nazi which is why nazis have been targeting me to the extent that two months ago the f. b. i. arrested a person a white supremacist with a framed photo of hitler and a copy of protocols of the elders zion in his house was threatening my life and that of my family Really? good to know that the transparency and ethics group is on top it also i like that they're not just non transparent the transparency enough x. group they're also very ethical how ethical so ethical that they can follow the following logic nazis are bad also everyone i disagree with his nazi that i mean when i think that's what i think i label everyone i hate a nazi everybody whose ideology i disagree with a nazi bernie sanders and not a nazi i mean that's how we're playing the game now correct that's how that's how we're doing this oh wait you're you're only applying that's people on the right you don't like god it okay so the email apparently was sent as part of the google transparency and ethics group internal communications and suggested a content from prager you which is dennis prager online university jordan peterson and ben shapiro should be disabled from the suggestion feature the email says if we understand the prager you jordan peterson ben shapiro at all nazis using dog whistles i don't think correctly identifying far-right contents is beyond our capabilities but if it is why don't go with meredith suggestion of disabling the suggestion feature so in other words if you watch somebody else's video it will no longer suggest that you watch my video because after all Nazi? I'll be honest. I did not see this coming. after the release of the google investigation google senior executive jen jinnai posted on medium saying google has repeatedly been clear that it works at trustworthy source of information without regard to political viewpoint in fact google has no notion of political ideology in its rankings oh none so it's just randomly skewed to the left is just random the when you search on google for basic terminology that the auto fill in feature only applies to left wing things like if you search hillary clinton emails a bunch of sites do not come basically to empty if you search donald trump it automatically fills in emails it's amazing is amazing the video that that was released yesterday that we talked to james o'keefe about on the radio show but shows engine i talking about how google was big and that was good because it could help prevent a trump reelection and also how google has to strive to maintain a certain level of political acumen well that video was pulled down by youtube yesterday citing privacy violations so that's exciting stuff i'm very glad to know that i have been labeled a nazi it was from a person whose name i won't mention because i don't want to docks the person or out the person but this is a person who works google it went to one two three four five six seven nine hundred eleven twelve thirteen fourteen people at google says today it is often one or two steps in nazis if we understand the prager you jordan peterson ben shapiro at our nazis so in other words if you watch a mainstream video you're only one or two steps away from some of the most popular content on youtube that decries nazism and they're nazis so stop the suggestion feature it's a significant a significant step would be to shut down all of this it is incredible how the left's standards of free speech are so malleable truly malleable and truly stupid and truly toronto as in other example there is a human named charlotte climber who often writes for the new york times and charlotte climber for some reason a transgender human seems to think that calling me sweetie is a thing which is odd i mean honestly not particularly ladylike in any case charlotte climber charlie clamor tweeted out this morning about louis c. so louis c. k. is a comedian you remember louis c. k. a very funny comedian and louis c. k. made a made at the very least they life error and at the very most he was sexually abusive to women he would invite women into his dressing room and then he would ask them if he could pleasure himself in front of them and some of them said yes and if they didn't say guess you'd pressure them at cetera so it wasn't exactly right but it was also sexual abuse fine louis c._k. apologized abject abjectly and was not criminally prosecuted because nobody wants to criminally prosecute him and now he's making a comedy comeback which we are not allowed to do because he is banned forever now the real reason that the left doesn't like louis c. k. is because he makes politically incorrect jokes how do i know this what because charlotte climber a human says so quote that this is a person by the way who is the comms person at human rights council at human rights i thought human right was free speech but apparently not so charlotte climber writes that offense ensure leading of louis c. k. is about preserving comedy as a refuge where you can be a white dude who says really awful things about anyone who isn't a white dude because something about shock humor being high art and free speech and not at all a pressing others So in other words, according to Charlotte climber. if you don't like louis c._k.'s comedy he is oppressing you if he says something that offends you this oppresses you because he says really awful things really awful terrible ville things because he makes mean ordinary jokes about kids with peanut allergies and that's really bad this human charlotte clamor also suggested via twitter she he because there's a biological male he lumped in he lumped in the jokes louis c. k. made about kids with peanut allergies with actual sexual abuse by louis c._k. suggesting that they were all of a piece and you were overlooking all of it if you laugh at his jokes he's folks are coming for your free speech and they are not making much of a they're not making much of an effort to hide it They're not doing much to hide it. It's pretty astonishing. so this will continue by the way it's gonna get a lot worse i'll give you another example of why i don't trust the left on these particular issues first let's talk about why you should not join the a._a._r._p. so the fact is that when you join the a._a._r._p. you are giving your money to an organization that is then going to spend that money on a bunch of things that you don't like would you pay your hard earned money to join an organization that fought tooth and nail for government run healthcare in organization that stood against tax cuts for middle class americans and small business owners you wouldn't women don't join a r._p._i. standing said with nearly two million others by joining amac the conservative alternative instead wouldn't you rather belong to an organization like game active fights for your values like protecting our borders supporting small business defending those individual freedoms becoming a member means standing up for our constitution and for the innocence on born immune standing firm in the fight against socialism what's more amac offers an alternative to just about every benefit the a._a._r._p. offers minus that leftist agenda so to me a favor and to america favor do not give your money to the a._a._r._p. instead give your money to amac that's amac.us amac u._s. go check them out right now a mac dot u._s. tell all of your friends and family about it because the more people who join a air p the worst america is going to get is a lobbying group that uses its power for causes it with which you disagree instead go join amac dot u._s. that's amac dot u._s. okay speaking of leftist attempts to quash the ability to speak freely apparently there was a a an attempted resolution was highlighted huffington post by a small group of people who were mastercard stockholders they were trying to get mastercard to stop doing business with groups with which they disagree not on the basis of those groups being violent which would actually be a rationale for stopping business but on the basis of those groups saying things they don't like now a lot of the groups they name are group's i don't like national policy institute storm front v their identity europa these are groups i don't like who purport to who who promulgate messages that i really hate and think are terrible still the idea of mastercard sitting atop they hill like a qadi under the tree trying to determine who gets to do business with a mastercard not based on violation of law but based on opinion is supremely dangerous thank god that some of us resolution receives only four point eight percents of the independent shareholder vote and did not pass that was the headline that huffington post earlier today a recent as filing from gab the social media site popular among white nationalist shows just how dependent extremists are on credit card companies according to huffington post last year pay pal and stripe stop processing credit card payments for gab after the pittsburgh synagogue shooter was identified as racist rant on gab about his hatred of jews and immigrants it took gab more than two months to find a new payment processor now if you want to argue the gab doesn't crack down on violent activity and therefore you're not going to work with gab that is one thing if the idea is that there's a view you don't like and therefore you're going to stop allowing people to use mastercard i do not know how you expect us to a society together because all that will happen is there'll be a new credit card company that will crop up and become quote unquote deplorable credit card some of us which is this group has asked its members to contact their pension providers and mutual funds and urge them to vote in favor of the proposal nuns manzini jammie of sleeping giants which is a radical activist groups seeking to destroy the advertising base for anyone who is remotely conservative was set to deliver a speech to shareholders it was a dramatic fail thank god but the left does not sleep when it comes to cracking down on free speech and when those folks are operating inside major companies like google we should all be a little bit afraid the fact is the issue is not them cracking down on so-called nazism the real issue is the is the left labeling everyone they don't like a nazi and then saying they want to crack down on nazism i don't trust them to issue lines that make any sort of sense because so far they've showed no ability to do so okay in just a second we'll get to president trump sounding off about iran are things heating up or are things about cool down i did.

"What I've managed put aside. My question is, do you help people like us? Thank you. Absolutely. Daniel thrilled that you would call and ask for our help when Jinnai created our firm, thirty three years ago, we did. So for the simple reason that quite frankly, we couldn't find anybody willing to help us, we were twenty eight I was twenty eight hundred twenty seven. And we went to a financial planner who wouldn't help us because we were young didn't have any money, and we were very frustrated by that fact. So we said, you know what we're going to teach ourselves how this stuff works, we're going to teach ourselves how to do it, and then we're going to start a firm and we're going to share what we've learned with others, and teach others what we know and for those who want our help, we will help them, and it was simple as that. So we started our practice back in nineteen eighty six and we began by doing college planning seminars, for elementary school, PTA groups, parents of young children who are facing college ten to fifteen years into the future who have no idea that they need to save for college. Don't know how to save for college. Don't know where to save. Don't know how much do accumulate and don't know how to put this into the context of their overall financial planning and the implications for their own retirement security. And so we began doing these college planning seven. Nour's for the next several years and word spread. That's what got me invited onto the radio. And I've been hosting this radio show. Now for twenty eight years. I think it's the longest running national radio show in the country on personal finance in that led to TV shows and led to my writing books have now, written ten books on personal finance in the most recent is the one gene, and I wrote together called the squirrel manifesto for children for four to eight year olds to get them introduced to the subject of money or attitude is real simple. "You have to wonder are they telling you to buy it because it's good for you. Good for them. And that's the challenge the notion of conflict of interest registered investment advisers who are registered with the SEC. Oh, by the way, simply because you registered with the SEC doesn't mean you necessarily have expertise or experience, you know, that that's not what the licensing conveys. But it does mean that you have to abide by the SEC regulation that regulation does not apply to stockbrokers or insurance agents. And so we always argue that you should hire a registered investment adviser because of the fiduciary standard because we are serving your best interests all of my colleagues at. Element Financial Engines serve each of our clients best interests, even though technically the advisers in our firm, our employees of the firm legally, they don't represent the firm legally. They don't have to do what I tell them to do. They have to do what they believe is best for you. And that relationship between the advisor, and the client is a very special one. It's like the relationship you have with your doctor your accountant, your attorney. They are serving your best interests not the interests of the hospital or the accounting practice or the law firm, but doing what's best for the client for the patient. And it's the same thing with registered investment advisers and those who work in our a firms, so here's what the statistics come into play TD Ameritrade. Just did a study. And concluded that in the last half of twenty eighteen the assets under management of registered investment. Advisers grew eighteen percent now, we know. That the stock market wasn't growing. So how did the assets grow can only be one reason existing clients added money to their accounts? And or. They got new clients with new assets. I believe it's a combination of all three I think existing clients did add money to their accounts because they're continuing to save for their future. And I also believe that new clients joined the firm, and in fact, that's what their study concluded. They found that one out of four new clients had either been self directed. Meaning they were do it yourself investors. They didn't have an adviser previously where they were new to investing. They never had money before to invest and now that they do they've chosen to hire a registered investment advisor. A third of those new clients say they left their commissioned brokers or their commission based insurance agents because they wanted an independent fee based the do Sherry to serve them. And that's what an independent registered investment adviser is and our experience in our firm reflects all of that in two thousand eighteen we added at Financial Engines. Twelve thousand new clients, and we added three billion dollars in new assets. From those clients our firm has continued to grow steadily ever since Jinnai founded it back thirty plus years ago and twenty eighteen wasn't any different. In fact, it's really interesting that in periods like two thousand eighteen when the stock market is doing poorly and volatility has resurfaced, and there's a lot of political angst over policy issues that are affecting American's coast-to-coast consumers get increasingly confused as to what they ought to be doing. And in many cases, they discover that wherever they were working with whatever advisor, it was isn't giving them the effective level of advice that they needed or desired, and it increases the likelihood that they are curious about the services that we might be able to offer. So my message to you here. I'm not just saying. Yeah, you should hire us. Financial engines. Well, well, I mean, yeah, I am saying that. But now what I'm really saying is that as you're deciding that you need a new adviser or maybe your first ever adviser. You have a choice of who to turn to. And if we can look at a year like twenty eighteen and discover that registered investment advisers across the industry are reporting significant increase in new clients and new client assets. Well, that kind of tells you something doesn't it? And it might give you confidence in saying. Yeah, you know, what I've been dealing with a commission based broker or insurance agent. Or.

"Remember with my bookie you play, you win, you get married. I have three daughters, so no one can tell me that I'm not a defender of women's rights in any way, shape or form. I one hundred percent am. I have two daughters that are in. Two separate universities. I understand the culture. I was there myself. I know how it goes. But if one of my daughters came to me and said a guy did something to me, I would want to know the facts. Yeah, I don't wanna know hearsay. I don't wanna know accusation. I'd want to know the circumstances in the detail surrounding, and I make no hesitation to say that. Yes, men have taken advantage of position and status and power and position for our too long. And that's why back to your point parenting, you've got to come back to raising men the right way and women. It's not, you know, I know that there's a big push to protect our women, and I think that we should, but I think it's important for a woman to protect yourself. And I think it's important that our kids surround themselves with peers and friends that are positive and are safe, and that they feel secure with and Jinnai two girls. We hung out with a big group of kids. That were mostly boys and we were always protected. They never did anything to us. We had a great time together, but and I made sure that we didn't put ourselves in situations where we weren't able to get out of them if that makes sense. So I think there's responsibility on both sides, not just on the the man side and so because I know I was raised in the air where you know, my mom would say, well, you know, don't don't don't go ask for it, be careful what you're dressing, like and all of that stuff. And I know from feminist point of view, that's ridiculous and we should be able to walk out half naked and not be looked at and talked about, but that's not reality. And I'm not saying it's right. I'm just saying that's not reality. And so I feel like that women need to be real to and protect yourself, be responsible for yourself. If you're going to go out looking sexy, you might get some some attention that you're not wanting, but if that's true, don't go out looking like that. I mean, it's on both sides. It's on both sides also get we live in a day and age where it's easy to object. Defy the opposite sex. It's very easy. Okay. And that goes on both sides. You have Sports Illustrated swimsuit editions. You have maxim magazine, you have playboy magazine, you are inundated, then you go into the, you can go to everything from cosmopolitan vogue and all these. You can go to the other side of things, and you can look at, you know, movies that are being made that are objectified the male form, whether see superhero movies or you know the, I'm okay with that. I know you are see, that's exactly right. So you've got you can't tell me that that doesn't happen. You're being bombarded with bits of information day in and day out that objectify sexuality. It objectified the sexes, but then you're going to turn around and till teenagers. You're going to tell her, you know, these kids under twenty twenties and men. You're gonna tell anybody. Let's just take men in general as I know, don't don't objectify women. Yes, we're gonna make Caitlyn Jenner woman of the year, which to me is. Complete and total insulted women. It is because there..
