"You're bringing up kindle and and channing 'cause we got on its we're sitting there much like this and you've got guitar and i've got my guitar and everybody's got their guitars and we're sitting there and we're just kind of picking and morning you know. How's everybody drink drinking coffee and kind of kids. Doing you know this. And that and as many bay getting good ideas this nadan sitting there and you know guys you know. This was a few months back. We've been in the pandemic and we're really at the height of you know when. We had the resurgence again few months ago where he got big again and i said i was like guys. I don't want to write a sad song because that's would've been coming up so we ended up writing a sad song. Called one arado sets very meta right. Yeah you know so. That's just kind of in you just kind of try to take whatever buddies throw in around that morning the conversation before before you really get going and in in has to be people that you that you know sureau. It's a couldn't. I couldn't just jump on you know or somebody that you know that you're getting hooked up with like if you have a mutual friend. It's like hey man so and so you wanna ride with. So and so yeah. Let's set it up man. Let's get you know the skit that going on with the three of us and and Around some really cool. People that i might not have gotten to right with Had it not been you know being cooped up at the house and because that's all we've had to do we haven't been able to play you know so we we just been rotten gratin like hell. There's definitely some tremendous plus and you know it's funny you're talking about being with the right people you certainly have to grease the cruise a little bit. I've been thinking about that. Because i've been podcasting now for six years and i've had some conversations that are you know pretty clunky right like the kid just doesn't that doesn't jive. It just doesn't work. it doesn't go together and have constantly been thinking about. How do i grease the grooves. And how do i make this seamless conversation where it just flows and i imagine you're zoom meetings and your face to face. Sessions are are very much the same way where it's got flow and you get a feel it and everybody's gotta be working on the same vein a little bit absolutely you know. It's it's pretty much like real time. But there's a tiny tiny latency issue and so you know that's where the video helps a lot because after you're done saying something you know you could be like mindful enough to like okay lean over. I'm done okay. So they're like okay. Oh he's done. He's done got back so in even because on our podcast. We do it with our bass player josh. Who's who's been my right hand man for ever And then keith. Which keith is done everything from drive us to sell merchandise and now he's he's basically my pa and so we're the three we have three of us. And i do the fun stuff. And you know just the the bs and then You know Josh the serious questions. The business questions. And then keith comes in with the zingers and you know makes us laugh and stuff like that so kind of going. What what you're saying you have to. You've been doing it for six years. We're on our second season. We're shows into our second year. I have learned a lot about especially doing zoom. 'cause we started doing it in person and then know last year. So you know i. It's it's it's you have to learn you know i'm still not that great at it. You know it's it's. I'm having fun with it but Yeah man i'm still. Yeah man. I love the podcasting arena. So i'm glad that you're getting your podcast going. You said I can't remember was keith. or somebody else. He said he was your what's a. Pa what what were you your personal my personal assistant. I guess all right yes. I guess he just he still does a little everything but and that's really needed a great term for him he just he basically Keeps my head on. You know when we're out on the road. He's the guy that goes. Cody you gotta do this. Now you gotta do this now. You know that he's he's my my keeper of my own. Yeah you will. That's that's invaluable. You know somebody like that in your corner we can keep you straight especially when you want to veer off. Try and i imagine too. It's it's probably indicative of of your career choice in your personality is to be. I don't want see crazy. That's not that's what i'm saying but like space cadet have. Is that what you'd say. Okay thank you. i didn't know what to call it. But that's interesting term. i'm a space cadet sure. Yeah it's harnesses. It is that what it is. He basically just reminds me of what i have to do when i have to do it without pissing me off would. We're on the road. I try not to be too grumpy all the time but you know sometimes you get grumpy.

"That's not a comfortable feeling right like that's not comfortable. Which is what everybody wants. I always wanted to be comfortable. So why do it. What compels you to do it when you could just be comfortable It's still a rush. It's still it's a drug. It's like what was it. Eleanor roosevelt said Do one thing a day that scares you or something it's I may may have my who knows but not verbatim but The one of the best highs. I can have i've ever had in. My life is walking off the stage after. I know we just went out and just crushed the the tom onstage. When you know you know everything's clicking you know that's great man and a love that feeling and that and that's a that's a high and of itself but walking off the stage in like everybody in the band is just like like five and you know fist-bump are like dude like we just freaking killed it tonight. That's that's why. That's why i keep doing it. What makes say Because we've been talking about good performance. We also have been talking about things where you felt like you know. You haven't performed to the way that you wanted to. What how would you define a good performance. Is that something that's tangible. It's something that you can define replicate or is it just something that you feel like. What does that look like for you. It's it's a lot of feel and a lot of times. The room has to do with that. You know there's rooms that i love pliant every time we seem to play there we have a great time. Cities are different. you know. I have favorite cities to play like a lot of times. The stars a lot. And you know. There's there's there's there's towns that i don't really care to play for one reason or another dog anybody of town but there's there's towns that i love to play that it's it's just feel it's all feel man. It's you know from the from the way. The crowd responding to the you know the way the room south to the way the band's feeling to you know a lot of variables but you know when the stars align man. it's magic. Yeah are there some towns that you can think of right off hand. You're like man. I love playing the city. You know i have. You have the obvious ones that you know. That are just really cool. Towns i e seattle's awesome San francisco's great. You know glove boston. love chicago love minneapolis. there's there's towns like columbia missouri love columbia missouri. Where my favorite places in the united states play buffalo new york. I'll take buffalo any day now right. Yeah absolutely it's all about the people of the culture or how they feel about you or what. Buffalo is very similar to my hometown of fort worth here in texas. There's probably a lot of people out there going. what right sure. Yeah of course. Seattle's seattle's a no brainer. Really all right. Let me hear yes. Yeah no it's just gosh. Bus i think is probably my favorite talent in new york. And i've been fortunate to play a bunch of times and you know but i don't know man you know columbia missouri missouri as as a whole state was good to me come gateway to the mid west and then i was able to branch out after that Gosh man you know. What's another like cool man. I don't know there's a. I could say i could list holiday little doors. You know ray. I think so. I grew up in little town. I moved from a big town. Anaheim in california to a very very small town in southern utah when i was thirteen fourteen years old and for the rest of my life up until now i've never lived in a big town. I've always lived in a little town. Just a couple thousand people. Three or four thousand people and i love small towns. Man is just. I don't know something about it where people know each other. They like each other. They communicate with each other. Yeah there's rumors and gossip and things like that. Maybe there's not as many opportunities. The small town thing is is words at for me man let me hit the uh the the pas the time out button on the conversation very quickly This message is for fathers of boys between the ages of eight to fifteen on september. Twenty third through the twenty sixth we are hosting our first ever legacy event on our property here in maine and the course of three and a half days we are going to push and challenge you and your son physically mentally emotionally and all of this is designed to help you forge a deeper and tighter bond with your boy and most importantly give you as his father the tools and mindset and framework to usher that young man into manhood in a society that is increasingly dismissive in hostile towards men.

"One of them but Songwriters not and we pick a different artist every week and And on randy travis not. I went to randy's house to do it. And so i'm sitting there in this room with all his Acm's as grammy's you know. Yeah yeah yeah. Yeah singing a song that he wrote and he's sitting. You know you wrote a bit that he did you know and Sitting there thinking man. Don't screw this up. Don't screw this up. You know that was desperately special. Did that That that attitude of the. Hey don't screw this up. Did that getting your head did that. Mess with you. And how did every get that out of your head Man that's what i said. Stop thinking you stu it. You know it's easier said than done because it's very easy to get in your own head up there because when you keep telling yourself you know you know enjoy it have fun. Enjoy have fun. are you having fun. If you're having tell yourself or are you just going out there and doing what comes natural you know. Have you felt like that. Have you felt like there's points in your career where you know this this. This isn't yeah. Yeah i listened to for example. Here's here's what's interesting. I listen to a lot of people and and it musicians that is artists. And i think okay well. This is an individual who actually believes what he saying right now. What he's singing the lyrics that he's using. And then i hear others they. They actually don't have any frame of reference for that. They don't know what they're talking about or they're telling a story that they're not intimate with or not familiar with. But i i listen to songs like hippies and the cowboys for example and i i actually think when i hear you say those words. I'm like that's actually a legitimate. Like that actually sounds like he really believes that the words he saying is singing are are an accurate reflection of his of his life. And is there have been times in your life where you felt like. Hey i m chasing the notoriety or the fame or non. Really doing this for the people that i care about or for me just because i enjoy doing it That's a great question. Like i said you know the music and the business part you get into just because you love doing it and you love entertaining. People knew any love seeing the faces and the reactions. But yeah absolutely. I mean i've been burned out just i would have never wished for this pandemic and all it's been going on to happen but you know having having the forced time off you know i've i've missed play and having some time off has been really good When you know you miss something. Like okay like ozzy osborne you know. He retired the first time in and came back with his retirement sex to her. Because i read this article he said something along. The lines is for beta but something along the lines of. I realized that i wasn't done like basically. He wasn't done being nervous before performed so he knew he wasn't done yet. I think when that nervousness goes away. I think that. I don't know for me that i think that. That's that's when it'll be over. You know sounds to me. Like i've always thought this if i'm not nervous about something including this conversation with you do i really care about it. You know like does it really matter like if i'm not nervous about it. Is it really worth having the conversation man. There's a guy up in. Alaska played with a couple years ago years ago kim tier and he's a singer songwriter. Up there and A good songwriter. Buddy of mine named kendall marvel invited me up there to go fishing for a couple of days and anyway ended up meeting ken. Up there and We were talking shop. Just kinda one of those guys you hit it off with and we were talking about playing in performance and and just you know how to real conversation and he was telling me about this This this book about bruce lee was reading The basically he had this you know saying nervousness is a sign of preparedness. Now that's not from my mouth. That's you know somebody else. But as i sounds like something bruce lee would say. I don't know like i guess it is. I mean if you're if you're nervous about something. I guess you're doing something right. I almost wonder if you're not nervous about it you either. It represents a level of of care about this or delusion. Maybe even i if you're not nervous about it you don't realize the stakes that what you're playing if you're not nervous about performing in front of forty five hundred people and i'm sure that's on the low end of the people you perform for than like what. What in the hell would you be doing this for you. Know or or do not realize that these people wanna be here with you and and and and celebrate with you and have fun with you and experience this and so man. I love those nerves. I think that's a good thing. Yeah sometimes. I wish we didn't have them. Yeah yeah i know right. I think that to you know. I've been so nervous before. Show that i've thrown up you know it's it's have you really. Oh for sure. Yeah yeah it's you know. I don't know nerves. I guess man that's a good. It's a good thing. Let's you know you still. You still feel why do so what do you do it all right. Let's say let's say you're you're you're about to perform you're ready to go up in front of thousands of people you're puking your guts out your nervous about it. That's not a comfortable feeling right like that's not comfortable. Which is what everybody wants. I always wanted to be comfortable. So why do it. What compels.

"Of you being on the road traveling pursuing your own interests. What is the balance like for you. i've learned a lot over the last year. I've just turned forty this past august. I've been on the road fulltime for fifteen years and So my kids don't know any different. You know i've been on the road you know my my my wife and i've been together for a long long time and it's just it's just what it is. You know the ballots. I didn't have much of a balance for a long time. It was very difficult because we had to work all the time all the time all the time there was a time we were on the road. Nine or ten months a year eleven months a year sometimes. And that's that's been cut back a lot and not just because of this last year. Spn off but husbands and fathers now and you know it's it's so trying to maintain a balance was almost forced upon us this last these last thirteen months. We haven't played in thirteen months. I go back to work in a week and a half thankfully but you know i. It's been a very reflective time. Then i've i've learned to balance. I think of lert started learning how you know. I guess because it's like we we worked worked towards work. And we're the guys in the band you know we're all you know early thirties to early fifties so we got a lot going kids with guys with small kids in gaza with grown kids. And you know But none of us had ever taken a break right now. I think that when. I do go back I'll i'll appreciate the time off more. Because i used to be at three or four weeks on three or four weeks or two to three weeks off. Get me back out on the road. If i'm home longer than three weeks i'm driving everybody. Nuts dad you gotta you gotta get outta here so now being home for thirteen months my perspective about about a bunch of things has changed and In in a weird way at forty. I finally kind of starting to feel like him growing up a little bit man. That's that's interesting. You say that. Because i actually turned forty this weekend. Happy birthday yeah. Thank you brother. Yeah i was thinking about our mike actually feel pretty good you know. I never thought i'd be this old. Yeah but then. I was like damn i feel actually feel pretty good like i feel pretty good where i'm at with my family. I feel pretty good with where. I'm at with my career choice my profession what. I'm trying to do what i'm trying to accomplish. Who who i am. And as as i listen to you you know. I think it'd be easy for you like to fit in right into be tempted to fit in especially with the country music world to to hit your wagon to to the pop culture and in the way country music is gone and yet i see us as somebody who is doing things a little different which i can certainly appreciate hitting forty and being comfortable with with this and that but you said you know with with who i am and You know that's that's always been an important because more more so this last year. I've been forced to figure out who i am. You know i mean perform with lots of performers out the not just me but you know they literally had your stage taken away from you and you don't know what to do your electric bobby and you don't know do your hands and it's it's it's it's you know i've been you know. Go go go go go go. You know who you know really. Who am i and and it's like it's like man. You know apologised feel like i started realizing who i am and you know i don't know i don't know it's not like a midlife crisis or anything but a felt like when i when i was about twenty six twenty seven i started pulling my head out of my ass and like at forty. I think i'm a little further out completely. But a little further a little further out. You know like you said you know being in a good place with your with your kids and with your marriage and and You know going through those rough spots i think makes you appreciate You know the good times even more you know and and in coming up for air has been a good thing. I get long winded. Not go off on tangents so you know. It's that's what i wanna hear man and it's it's good that that's the power of this podcast. And that's the power of what you're doing with your podcast. We get to have real conversations. We get these forty characters on twitter and instagram and facebook or whatever and we make these clever little comments in these clever little social media posts and yet there's so much nuance to what we're doing in the struggles that we deal with. And you know the fact that you've been out of out of work i guess essentially maybe i don't know say it that way for thirteen months but it's weird thing man there's so much nuance to it. Strange in we joke you know because my band and we've been fortunate man my band and crew. Nobody's you know Hurting even though we there's a lot of people out there that you know have not had it as as easy as we have very very blessed very fortunate for that. But it's yeah i don't know man it's a it's a crazy do yeah. Yeah what's it. what's it like. Now that you're you're you're coming out of this this last thirteen months of months of hiatus and you. You sound like you've enjoyed it. I hear it's been nice being with my family. Maybe a little sick of me. But i took this break and are there some trepidation about what you're going to get yourself back into now. And how has that changed for you over the past year i you know like i said i've never had anywhere near this amount of time off so i'm pretty nervous about going back quite honestly i actually did it surprise kind of show last night with some friends of mine. Jason eating courtney patent and. It's the first time i'd played in front of people in a long time and i was very nervous. It was an acoustic deal. You know and we're going back out to Lubbock on the sixteenth of april. And you know just doing an acoustic show in front of like forty five hundred people at this amphitheater and i kind of feel like manage getting thrown back to the wolves. It's like i'm rusty. Yeah so i've been practicing at home. Which is something. I've never done. Which is because. I don't like to take time off to be off long enough to wear when we get back together. We have to rehearse you know. I mean everybody hannigan roof right my band and crew. They all live all over the united states and and so getting together for hersal means that we have to leave our family. You know a week before tour even starts to get warm back up and get polished up in greasy again. You know so. I have enjoyed typically for you guys to.

"It's Merriam Webster's word of the day four July eighteenth. Today's word is Jink Spelled J.. I, N. K. Jink is a verb that means to move quickly or unexpectedly with sudden turns and shifts as in dodging. Here's the word used in a sentence from red storm, rising by Tom Clancy. To fighters, immediately launched missiles and the American aircraft jinked up than. Down to lose them. Besides the fact that the word Jink first appears in Scottish English. The exact origins of this shifty little word are unknown. What can be said with certainty is that the word has always expressed a quick or unexpected motion. For instance in two poems from seventeen eighty five Robert Burns uses jink as a verb to indicate both the quick motion of fiddler's elbow, and the sudden disappearance of cheat around a corner. In the twentieth century, the verb caught on with air, force pilots and rugby players who began using it to describe their allusive maneuvers to dodge opponents and enemies. Jink can also be used as a noun meaning a quick evasive turn, or in its plural form pranks. The latter use was likely influenced by the term hijinks, which originally referred in the late seventeenth century to a Scottish drinking game and later came to refer to horse play. "To yeah I had to versus to that song. What it's like and I couldn't finish it all? I knew just we needed one dynamite chorus to make it happen and I was sitting on that song. Four or five months and Josh Morningstar came over to the house and I showed it to him. You Know He. He's married and has kids as well and you know he's wrote to and You know he teared up and he goes. Oh my God dude he goes people have been trying to say that for years and he just ripped the chorus out right then a and they're just he's like played again. I'll play them the two verses again and he went right to the Chord progression all that guitar in that never changed and then he just he started just spitting course out. It was kind of one of those like Holy Shit. That's awesome like yeah keep going keep going you know. So so there's no prime example of Have another saltwater they trust you know come in in the middle of the song and he he made it so much better. That was the same dynamic. A song like that. You're born in your heart out our our. Here's your amateur. Keep keep like a guy here. Here's my image show but God Dang a good tune in and he feels the vibe and knows where you're coming from and I I would imagine you guys are probably more than just good friends right are are not getting more than business partners but but really good friends to be able to share something like that or is it purely business. No no no no not at all I was saying go you know. Writing is is really a personal thing. You know the the people that I choose to write with. I've been right loose. You know for years now and we know each other very well. You know we've gone gone through divorces and you know Good shows in bad shows together being broke down side of the road together. So you do you do create create that bond. And when you're if I go to one of those guys or girls and say hey this is where I'm at. They know me well enough to know how to write for me. Just like My Buddy Ward Davis was He was you know going through a divorce and we wrote a song called Called Colorado for him to this ended up recording our records but I had to get and just knowing him and having been friends with him for as long I had to get into his head space right right like him from his perspective while we were writing that song because that song wasn't about my life that's all about his life so as interest. Yeah Yeah it's a it's you really you know. Have to trust that person. And that's upside at these guys before you know like your girls Whelan's willies and your Johnny Cash Kris Kristofferson. All those guys that used to record each other Saux Write songs together perform together and I'm not comparing us to them at by any stretch of the imagination. But you know it's the same kind of concept. Yeah some of the guys. You just mentioned it you know what have been considered part of the outlaw country music sane way back in the day and sometimes you know some of the guys that you you Tour with yourself like a surgical Simpson Wide Morgan Chris Stapleton or Jamey Johnson included loaded in. There you know. Sometimes you're equated with outlaw country music where do you stand on that because what I see to see our Are here a really great artist. Who Sing and really great songs? I don't understand outlaw part can you explain for me. Does it make sense now. You you know. Let's see that's something that I get asked quite a bit. I I have kind of a joke when people ask me that. You know. It's not funny joke. It's a joke but you'll say I'm not an outlaw man you now I pay taxes. It's not like I'm you know I mean wh when whaling was running around with the hells angels like. That's outlaw. Shit no the term outlaw. All you know it's it's more of a it's more of a screw the establishment. I'M GONNA do it my way. Ah I was saying while ago about the whole record label things it's it's more just a mindset of. Hey I don't give a damn and if you don't want to give me the money to make this record food because it's not what you think it should be. I think it's what it should because it's mind and I'm an artist I'm not I'm not a dancing. Monkey take a record. Label goes and gives songs insisting they songs and sing like this and you know have an are people telling you how to dress and you you know things of that nature so you know to me I think just the terminology of it is just somebody that just goes against. You know the the norm. I'm you know in in like you're saying you know some of the guys you brought up you know Anymore and why do you not have in friends and then pointing together for years and years ears and You know at the time that he was Really hitting the road hort it and not well known I I was hitting the road heart dot. Well now we're crisscrossing the country. We were really kind of the only two that were doing it that way. You know like Sturgis and Chris Stapleton both absolutely love In Jamie which you know Jamie's become a really good friend over the years. You know those guys had record levels I gotcha and if we did it was something really you know little mom and pop type of thing so you know in in my opinion and this is not a slight light on anybody I love all the guys you just name. Meanwhile really the first ones to to kind of come back and do it the way we're doing it and I'm proud of that you know. Why do you not have a Lotta miles together? Why do you not started to and together? We were such asshole that neither one of US wanted to wanted to even like each other. We were were two different but it's true. We didn't at the time that we met. We were both still so broke. And so you know you know sleeping sleep in the van and truck stops and eat and being leanings and The only two guys that I knew at the time that were doing what we were doing. Crisscrossing announced state zero support zero putting around two tours together doing everything in house and so we were both grumpy. And the and We played I played a two or three shows together and our We have the same manager. Why do you then with him for about a year and then ten Hollywood? Why even with Arkansas Year and active signed on warfare he puts together two-three shows to see if it worked in? We never. We never really book we. I think we both understood in a business aspect. Shows will work in wealth but we didn't really cared Jixian Novi other guy you know so Decided to put us on a about a month long tour together or a couple of months or something like that and we get like three weeks ended his tour in widening. US feel really haven't said anything anything and it was one of those days. I can't remember if he was having. Aren't there at an art day or whatever it was one of those deals where it's like. Hey man you want to go to the beer so we went and sat down. And edit beer finally got to know each other a little bit and the rest is history. Were recruit good buddies this day these days mascot here did you hear mom arm. Just kicking go those reminding me to eat back in my getting get shape routine and my alarm is set to cody jinx. I heard something. I didn't know what it was. What else is new John? Ford is still a bio California's still first. Before we wrap up you talked about Coming off the road and you know that is a little tired and he's you you know. been doing this thing and your little little grumpy house until you get settled in. And so they're kind of doing with Achy. Why you're doing on the road and try and take everything thank? How is life on a road imagine a tad bit slower than it was back in the day but when you start? Stringing those dates together you know life. on-road road can be rough. How do you deal with it? Obviously it's not the hours on his long anymore. You know. I don't drive anymore. I used to. I've driven myself off across the country several times now. I'm not qualified to drop a tour bus. So they I left professional people do that. But it's it's really really different different than it used to be. My routine is so strange whenever I'm on the road but I'm on the road I'm up until three or four o'clock in the morning because I don't get done working until Levin twelve and then so you just you know he'd get back up on the bus after the show and Usually have a a couple of years with with Sunday the gas and the other bands play with and then I go to bed. I sleep late I sleep a lot on sleep. Probably twelve fourteen hours a day. I'm just record the plane sleeping and maps and things of that nature because it's really mental and stressful. So much going on his always people pulling at you one way or the other. They talked to this person to talk to motor. Repeat this fans or you know it's it's it's L. job it's It's pretty grueling. Whenever you're out there is no five six weeks at a time and which were older now which are not to do that? The longest stretches anymore. Most of us have kids. You know younger kids so Yeah Laugh on the road. It's it's it's strange. I'll I walk through the entrance difficult after I've been gone for a month and I come home and there's actually rules again because when I come home about the boss. Yeah Oh you got a favorite up now. Oh yeah took me a while well on on the road I'm the boss. I do whatever I want whenever I want to do it. You know in in real life in that way and So she says the says reentry period. Here it is usually the toughest per day. I get all that. Yeah but you know they they are because when you own road like I used to be and you are. You're you're doing your own thing you're on your own schedule. Well those very in your case or you know. They're on their on their schedule. Your Dad's gone you. They're they're doing their thing. And all of a sudden the clash of scheduled and you know things get worked worked back in like you said. It's the reentry. Yeah but but it's weird it is it will strengthen it's like it's like the Ottoman L.. They get they get on their schedule in. It's almost like when you get home. Screw everything up. You know. 'cause you know my kids look at it like Dad. Home is happy fun time play. We're GonNa Candy and you know I'm going to let them do whatever they WANNA do. You know like we have freaking routine dude. You know come home. Just tell everything got before we get off the air here again. I'm on my less wise album. Wake up becky. Obviously you wrote up for your wife. Yeah I hi That one was that one. It's it's funny joke about now that it was one of those you know I wrote that song a long time ago is one of those nights. I was on the road by myself self and I tried to call her and she wouldn't Ansong and my mind started getting the best I think so. I totally my mind which works. It's like Oh gosh. She's had enough. She's not house in war she's she's done this You know all these things and I started thinking about the worst. Well I get where I'm going. There not stopped sleep. Wake up the next morning. You know she. She called me back three Nash House Asleep Like A. Oh I like so you're good. She's a canned good as I could get the house. Yeah what do you think would be fifty of yourselves. Sounds I've lived in done and what I listen to you. Think about like yeah man. He gets it. I've been there too so I continue. Wanted to join your music and if you ever get out to Los Angeles we're GonNa talk in person. I love to see live. Come your show or if you're in Reno area when we're out the Vada if you ever play Rano or something like interfere in Vegas he'll drive to Vegas and see you but we we gotta do.

GotTa she has to throw a couple of first balls myself and log but she got a little bit of a pressure on you know the thing is you. Don't get a warm warm-ups because I'd like to sit on the sidelines whether it's first base line at third base line and play catch guys kind of get warmed up all of a sudden you just kind of sitting around and I said hey you're up and you go out there and asked Oko Steve Austin your cody. Jinx wanted to dirt. Are you nervous when you go up though that first-pitch yes I actually. It's funny of a buddy of mine. Andrew Cash ner pitches for the Red Sox he was He was catching the pitch. Hey speaking of sports and now you plan a little bit of football today Saturday as we speak. Are you a college football. gadoe I do I keep up with it and I'm a TCU Fan and Your your Alma Mater Rundown Road North Texas state. Yeah yes sir. Yes Sir so my wife went to Texas his woman so and we lived at so we keep up with with the main drain and TCU's my favorite team they Be in Fort Worth boy. They were the closest college team back when they were horrible. They were they were really bad but it's fun to watch SMU Fifteen right now. That's that hasn't happened. Happened in like thirty. Something years man and Obuchi Shane Boucher. Have you say his last name. they had a quarterback controversy between him and Sam Etlinger over at University of Texas. So Boucher goes over to Smu Course Dallas School and of course you know the the last time sc news really in providence was when the pony express was around with it Eric Dickerson and of course that was kind of like when I was a senior in high school. They those guys were running roughshod over the entire nation and so should to see SMU where now and Tcu With what's his name at the Helm Who's coaching them. God Dang it Paddison Gary Patton it. He's done an outstanding job over there. North Texas is coming up we played. Tcu Way back in the day. When I was there in eighty six eighty seven there was we were still a division two school and now they're division one and we went over there and we should beat those guys and I'll be danged if they didn't beat our ass you know? At that time. They weren't so great so we've been gohmert earn whoop up on him but it turns out we were like I believe we were three and eight and nine years in Texas. But anyway I digress. Do you have have a favorite pro football team. Pro Football game cowboys. DALLAS COWBOYS THIRD DALLAS COWBOYS DOT. Hard man how are you frustrated because they busted out of the gate whether they three and something like that come with winning record and then all of a sudden and I love The Dallas Cowboys but I love a lot of teams just a football junkie and I kinda followed coaches players storylines. What's going on where I said? Man I said I don't want it to happen but the the wheels are gonNA fall off and as predicted. The wheels have fallen off. One they do to get that thing on the right track Arcachon Garrett and I hate to say hey that because I don't want to see anybody you know job or anything like that but you know we did. It fell off. We started off going through you know and then we three. You know we dropped one too the man you know they just came out and just it it. It was awful. It was ugly ugly awful I think the pieces are in place. I'm Scott Prescott Fan. I mean we got you know Dakyns Z.. In Amari Cooper and COBB and arline pretty banged up. You know attacking our our tackle hurt right now but anyway we had that week off link come back out and you get it going. But you know it's been it's been fun to Our backup payments the saints my life and I my dad's from Louisiana so we we always watch the cowboys and insights and big drew brees fan so it's cool to see Teddy Bridgewater. Go over and take over that pain and in and out that's been fun to to watch Forty niners off too. I mean golly they hadn't had this good start since Montana. The quarterback there so yes fun. It's IT'S A it's A. It's a fun thing. We love it and I laugh and I go to a different stadium every year for our anniversary. been to seven different stadiums. We went up to Kansas City and Got To watch. Patrick Mahomes point-by-point. He's he's he's a fun guy to watch and I was a little bit worried that that was yesterday was the first day or Thursday night. Football was the first night I got a chance to watch San Fran and I but there were undefeated. There is a hot team and and you know hell I'll tell you what column or those guys you know. They turned it into a ballgame. You know going towards the finisher said Oh holy smokes. They might they might. I ended up beating these guys. If they headed other five ten minutes. Five eight minutes they might have but San Fran hanging on it and it's good to see Garoppolo back coming back Matt Injury. He's having a great year all the pieces. They got their their dangerous L.. And tell you what they're they're just a fun team to watch yet. They are And what was three point game. Twenty eight twenty five seven super close. You know Yeah they are fun to watch anyway that that guy reminds me so much as Daryl Johnston it's fun to watch. Hey Man Hey let's go back to a brand new albums out and both these things musset out and you were you at least one of them a week later. You release another one. You come out with After the fire on October eleventh and then a week later you came up with the wanting now. What was the strategy between releasing two albums a week apart Barton original concept when You double record and the wanting is really talking about you. Know kind of the the road life and and You know trying to discover goes deeper into your art in you know just getting out and doing the thing paying and then after fires kind of talking about the whole life you know The kind of settling down coming down period so we ended up with twenty two songs And it was really easy to tell which song go on record so originally like I said we. We'd want to do a double record record. We got in. We had eighteen songs. Ready ended up coming out with twenty to go to war in the studio and The songs pick themselves to go on with You know either one but You know like I was saying while ago for we got were cut off. I was just relieved to have both of them out in October eleventh. And then the eighteenth and both of them charted really well super please couldn't have couldn't have been any fed or really especially for independent artists so I'm just glad they're out. Why are you an independent artist? I mean Do you were with a record label right and now now not so much. Yeah I did I did a couple of records but with With a company called Thirty Tigers. They're great It's there are a lot like a label We did we had more of the distribution in publishing deal than we did. Actually what you would consider like a proper record label contracting contracting the lifer record we put out with rounder. And it's it's it's a major major label it to smaller major label. They oh great. They did everything that they said they would do We did everything that we said that we would do. So you know the deal was good really good on the back end I I had a I had a really good percentage. You know the gross and all that kind of stuff so they really regret to me but you know we got to the point not management and I really you know we can. We've been doing it pretty much ourselves anyway. Let's let's go back to that formula. The company that you know started is is called True Grit and then true grit hosts true grit present. You know there's company. Ag Live nation or to the biggest you know companies that do the promotions for the shows and stuff like put shows this together. Put you in different clubs and stuff like that. But we've learned over the years how to do it ourselves so a lot of thought goes into making decision to put a double record Out To records out at you know basically the same time and seeing if you can go hit number one as an independent artists and We prove it can be done. Trump may have made it more difficult for the US to 'win' its trade war with China
"Washington. President Trump says the US would raise tariffs from ten percent to twenty five percent on more than two hundred billion dollars worth of Chinese goods and increase would take affect at twelve. Oh one tomorrow morning unless. Settlement can be reached the threat following charges that Beijing has been trying to backpedal and essentially renegotiate earlier greets. But in the meeting with reporters at the White House earlier today, President Trump also indicated that he received what he described as a beautiful letter from the Chinese president Xi Jinping and would probably speak to him as negotiations continue more from the White House, the vice premiers coming here today, we were getting very close to a deal, then they started to renegotiate the deal. We can't have that. We can't have that. So our country can take one hundred twenty billion dollars a year and tariffs paid for mostly by China, by the way, not by a lot of people try and steer it in a different direction really paid out of his faith for by largely by China. I'm businesses will pour back into our country. So instead of making the product it'll be the old-fashioned way the way we used to do we made our own product. And I think things are going along pretty well. But a large group delegation headed by one of the most respected men. Highest officials of China will be coming in today. They started five o'clock, and they'll see what they can do. But our alternative is is an excellent one. It's an alternative. I've spoken about for years. We'll take in well over one hundred billion dollars a year, we never took in ten cents from China nut ten cents, and it'll be a I think it'll be a very strong day, frankly, but we'll see it was their idea to come back. Just wrote me a beautiful letter just received it and I'll probably speak to him by phone. But look we have two great alternates. Our country is doing fantastically. Well, our numbers at three point two. Don't forget three point to the first quarter is always by far the worst quarter, or at least almost always you look back over the years. First quarter is always weekend. We had three point two GDP. Our unemployment numbers of the best in the history of our country. And we're doing well companies are really doing well, even in Ohio the great state of Ohio yesterday General Motors at my verse stronger jink to put it mildly, very stronger. I wasn't even nice about it. But I appreciate what they did. They sold the the beautiful plant Lordstown they sell that beautiful plant to very very good company that's gonna make electric trucks and that work because I was the only thing they could say about our whole economy Lordstown, they kept saying Lord style Lordstown. And when you had all these great companies spending, billions and billions of dollars coming into our country. They couldn't talk about it. That only mention the one plant. That was a GM plant from a very long time ago. And now, we have a great company going and going to make electric trucks, very appropriate. Those remarks by the president earlier today at the White House and joining us on the phone here in Washington as Bob Davis. He is senior editor for the Wall Street Journal, and can you walk us through specifically the issues on the table between the United States and China? Well, you know, now there's one big issue one big issue. And that is whether the US will go ahead and raise tariffs on Chinese goods, two hundred dollars of Chinese goods. From ten percent to twenty five percent. That is the issue that is dwarfed all the substantive issues that have come before it from China's point of view. Tariffs go into effect. They'll they'll be forced to retaliate if they do that. We're down further down a rabbit hole. This could really create a trade war between the two leading economies of the world. We've been on the edge of a trade war. This is like in trade terms, like high noon, I mean, you know, this is bad as as fraud moment as you get in trade negotiations. So how did they resolve this? Well, one or two ways the Chinese come with concessions that the US considers to be significant enough to either hold off tariffs or to just put tariffs in place for a period of time while they work out work out a deal and get back to this substantive issues that divide in Asians, or you know, it doesn't work out. I mean that the tax go in and we're in for a long period of. Very. Problematic economic news and get these are tariffs that obviously American consumers would see and feel every day the president often mentions the stock market and we've seen some wild moves over the last couple of days because of the uncertainties so where does that put the president? Well, president is a guy who believes in tariffs he calls himself tariff. Man, I think that is actually the way he thinks about things. I think if the market I think the markets had Sumed has had many other people that we were on the road to a deal if it becomes if the talks fell apart and tariffs are put in place in look like me and place for for a long period of time. I would imagine Mark through react very negatively. And then we'll take a look and see how much same power. The president has the face of falling stock market. We're talking with Bob Davis senior editor for the Wall Street Journal does this potentially have any impact on inflation. Possibly probably not. I mean, you know, so we're talking about. Increasing tariffs on two hundred billion dollars of goods from ten percent to twenty five percent. The types of goods that we're talking about on for the most part aren't the sort of things you seem WalMart. I mean, they're they tend to be electron of components mechanical parts, you know, things that go into other things. So yeah, I mean go up, but it'll be hard on a machinery on a piece of machinery to tell. You know, how much of that is from a tariff on the other hand if the president the president is increases threats today, and he's said that they're starting the process of. Of imposing tariffs on three hundred and twenty five billion dollars worth of goods. That's so far haven't been subject to tariffs. And those are the things that Americans buy all the time in WalMart and other stores like iphones and cell phones and clothing there, you, you know, I don't know if it's a big enough impact to to affect the consumer price index overall, but you'll see it. I mean, if you're consumer you'll notice it if the price of an iphone goes up twenty percent because of a tariff, that's not something you're gonna miss and two key players on the US side. The Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin part of these negotiations into the evening, and Robert lighthizer who is a presence top trade negotiator. What can you tell us about these two individuals -pointment as it might be in terms of trade with China? Well, I mean, they very different outlooks and represent very different constituencies. So lighthizer trade Representative is is a longtime China Hawke who largely wanted the USC our job. So he kid finally get a chance to take on China. And try to write what he felt were the wrong that China was committing economically. He pushes his heart as he can harder. I would say the president for a tough deal that would fundamentally change Chinese economic policies. The Treasury Secretary has a different portfolio. I mean, he is portfolio is keeping the US economy humming along in the global economy, you know, few problems as it can have. So he's been pushing much more for a deal. He is kind of a dove in the, you know, in this bifurcated world while visors hawk one thing to note is that the Chinese Trayvon boy a guy named Lou her is meeting today having dinner tonight only with lighthizer not with Mnuchin, which is different than the way. It's been in the
The problem with battling a conservative talking head on Twitter
"President. Joepags tweeted. And his Twitter handle is at Joe talk show. He tweeted keep in mind, what's happening in Venezuela is the direct result of the same socialistic ideology at AO. See that's Cossio Cortez and Senator Sanders and a beta award, and the like are pushing here let that really hit home for you. I re tweeted it with comment, and I said that is incorrect now, I really didn't think that Joe was going to even pay attention to it. But he almost immediately came back and said, at least you stated wine nice work now that that kind of sets the tone for this very brief conversation on Twitter with joepags. And it really gave me an insight into the the type of person, or at least a persona that he puts forth on social media. And to a certain extent, this is this is him on the radio at my response to him. Was it takes more than Twitter conversation to adequately? Explain how your statement was in accurate. I know you believe what you stated, but the facts don't support your position. I have to admit now I had to go back and rewrite that because I immediately money jerk reaction was I I wanted to throttle him. I I wanted to I wanted to be vicious, but I'll I decided instead. To take the higher route. And. Essentially say, look, you believe what you've stated. But based on the facts that I'm privy to your position is inaccurate. He responds. One hundred percent incorrect, in fact, and this is what got me you come off as so incredibly incoherent and uneducated in your response that it actually was just a waste of space in my time line, call the show you can learn me then. I don't know what I was expecting from Joe. I should've known. This is what I was going to get. But. I would love for our. I don't know. I can't I can't stand here in tale. You that liberal talk show hosts don't have some vitriol as well. I mean, look jank Uber on on the the young Turks. There have been times where he's gotten really really really vicious, and I don't necessarily agree with that. I agree with jink on a lot of points. But not not some of the more vitriolic. Let's just dig our heels in ex at an expose our our Qena, and our extended nails and just really dig in with everything that we have. And so I had to I had to think about this response. And I had some time to think about it because he responded to this after at already left to go to a client's location. So I I didn't respond to this until about two hours later in. My response was this. It's intellectually dishonest to compare the democratic socialism ideology of at AO see and at Senator Sanders to the corrupt it's socialistic system of Innis Walea. They're not the same not even in the ballpark that thanks for demonstrating. How you attack anyone that disagrees with you smiley face and his response was not attacking being direct. You are one hundred percent absolutely wrong.

It was one of his two turnovers in the game. The titans took the lead in the third quarter. Marcus mariota sealed the win with a dust down run in the fourth. The Cowboys dropped to three and five with the loss. Let's take a listen to what Dak had to say after the game disappoint. I mean, we didn't get the job done. We gotta do better starts. With me starts me. I all the way throughout this whole team. So I mean, very disappointed as you say coming off the bye week clean things up for good going into this one to come out with his laws during. Very disappointed, Shannon. Who deserves the blame. You're speaking. Get the guy that you don't turn the football over the guy that you bet young quarterback he'd better than walk it. Oh, no. No. No. No. Because here's the thing. Debt press got his most responsible because sometimes if you have a decent team. And I believe the Cowboys are decent team you could overcome bad quarterback play or marginal quarterback play. If he doesn't turn the ball over. But when he's not playing well, and he turned the ball over not overcoming that..
