"And I think the chips are most or best manifest as heels as a rule. And I think that's why I work with Brian. I thought Brian was a much better heel than a baby face. As a baby face, it came off a little disingenuous. As a heel, he came up more natural and more organic. And I think that for the wind came there for Ryan. Next up, we got a video package of single stars from the past. You got dusty Rhodes, staying Hanson, Ron Garvin, Tony Atlas, Magnum TA, was Sawyer, mister wrestling two. The great kabuki Ted dibiase, of course, Bill watts, while him mcdaniel, my superstar Jimmy valiant, King Kong Bundy, the spoiler, Tully Blanchard, Ric Flair, Terry fong, Tommy rich, Roddy Piper, man, the legacy of this company. Was the history here, there's 20 years on TBS. That's a who's who, man. That's a real Hall of Fame. It really is, and I, you know, your honor to be a part in a conversation with all those guys. Because at one time, there's not a guy you mentioned that couldn't be considered as at the top of his game that might have been the best at that era in that year, that time as anybody ever was. Heels. Even if they're a semi main event heel, if they're really good or help them draw money and they're having great matches, that's a success. Everybody doesn't have to work on top to be a winner. So it was pretty impressive. But you got to also remember that big old TV signal that went everywhere had a lot of muscle and if you want to talk about the WCW failure to capitalize on the success in the UK, you can say the same thing about the super station in general. That's a monster. Yeah. And I don't know that the monstrous was fed enough throughout that era to earn its I don't want to say Ernest Keith, but the confidence what was potentially there in my opinion anyway. Let's talk about the next match. We got Ron Simmons pinning cactus Jack in 8 minutes and 51 seconds to retain the WCW title. They did a great job with a Simmons video package here to make him seem like a world champion. But Meltzer would say, once the match started, the illusion was over. Jack was hurting bad here and nowhere near his best and Simmons winds with a power slam. A star in three quarters. It does feel like in this match, some of the wear and tear that cactus and put on his body is really starting to catch up with him a little bit. But it's probably a styles clash too. These two guys, but I could see while Meltzer thought, man, this has got to be disappointing that this is your world champion and maybe the work doesn't really click that day, but I don't know that it's an indictment on Ron's work as much as it is. Sometimes guys just have off gay off days. And if you're having, if you have a match with an opponent who is hurting, I mean, your odds are stacked against you, right? Yeah, and Jack was the kind of guy that will make whatever you want to call him. I've got a lot of things. He wasn't always real forthcoming about his injuries. So in other words, you would never hear him talk about being sore. Right. Because he looked at it as soreness as a part of the game. And so being sore was not a negative thing. He was just being sore. And so sometimes you really know her mixed physically in that regard. But they didn't have the chemistry on that night that we needed them to have. It was unfortunate. It was a bad time. Bad night to have an off night. During the course of the match, Ron Simmons really kind of no sales, a cactus Jack elbow off the apron onto the concrete. I know on the one hand we're trying to make Simmons look strong, but on the other hand, you're kind of shitting on cactus here, are we not? Well, it's just a greenness, timing, feel. You know, we said this about we talked about this in a lot of the downfall of rest is they're putting physicians before they're ready to accept those positions. We've talked about that three or four times here in this show. Eric watts was ready for Israel. And others discussed today that just weren't quite ready to get them all. And I think that might have been the case there was Ronnie. And so Ron need to work with a wrestling heel, not a Mick was more maniacal, more brawler, you know, different cat. So, but he's got to sell. And that this might have been a brain fart, just might have been instinctive. I don't know. But certainly Ron Simmons is a talented networker to know he's got a sale. Especially something that devastating. So I want to mention the next match here, but before I do, I want to show or want to discuss what was shown on TV here. It's the NWA title switch where masa chono beats recruit over in Japan and we're also showing that, hey, jono is coming over here. And I was always kind of surprised that chono didn't make a bigger splash. He's a big guy. So it feels like he fits the American style of what they were looking for. I mean, imagine him with a mouthpiece like pauli dangerously. I could have really seen that work. But for whatever reason, it just didn't happen. Was he not interested in staying over? Or did they not see money in him? I think that one of the issues with him, he's such a major star of Japan. He's taking a chono. Yes. That available dates on him are fleeting. So it's hard to establish a storyline when you have random dates. Yeah. And that was part of the issue with him. But he's a hell of a hand. He really was a hell of a hand, and you're right. He was underutilized. In the story he was shown to us very underutilized in my estimation. During that watts era of WCW. And if Bill had got to know him, or he knew him better, or he studied his videotapes, he would have seen what he had. And he would have had a different creative philosophy about how to book jono. Jonah was just jono, it reminds me of how TNA used okada. Back in the early days. And a lot of people don't even know the Ocado was empty, but he was. And he was underutilized. And what some people say, somewhat disrespected. I don't know if that's true or not. But to just take it for granted, young Japanese kid. And now look at him. He's as good as there is in the world.

"Let's go to the ring you know. Every now and again we We have opportunities to be pitched something for sale. And they'll say well. Here's your bronze level. And here's your silver level and here's your gold level. I feel like we kind of heard that the promo version sam houston doing his best. Try to spit it out. A new guy but she could hear You can almost hear the wheels industies. Starting hang on industies. Enthusiasm is infectious. It almost wasn't even about what dusty was saying. Dusty was excited and his excitement. Just comes through the screen. Does it not when you say dusty. Rhodes what's the first thing. Everybody says charisma. Yeah unparalleled and that that is bigger than anyone promo. That is something that you have every time you run into somebody and you're having a one on one conversation or you're talking to ten thousand people are talking to tv audience. It comes across. And that's what he had email. Sam that the simple story of this angle was dusty. Said at some point. I'm sure early on this kid. Sam houston is a new edition. Jim crockett promotions scott. A lot of talent he scattered bright future. We like the fact that you know. He's young and inexperienced but he's he's in their learning and he. That's all dusty. Would've had to give it a rub. Not that he overplayed it or overdid it. So we looked at that him being a protege of dusty that's another way of of striking a blow at dusty break his proteges arm and as easy for dusty to step in and pick up that promo and now you put a cast on sam's arm we go around. We do some six man's and the rub for sam is unbelievable. Can you imagine being partners. Were those two guys. No i mean. I can't even imagine it. It's a whole different realm and it's a rub that you keep your entire career people. You know still talk about that. I'm sure so man just everybody one on this deal. Everybody and only when he starts talking man. It would mesmerized me because articulate intelligent. Got right to the point and he didn't scream holler he. Just there's nothing more frightening than a guy that's in your ear and very quietly telling you how he's gonna cut your head off and stick it on a post schist is just terrified. Let's talk about the state of professional wrestling here for a moment august sixteenth. There's a show in the meadowlands called star. Wars is joint show with jim crockett promotions. And the awa. You're not booked on the show. But i just wanted to get your perspective of at this point. Did you feel like someone working in the business. It's all hands on deck. Against vince mcmahon in the world wrestling federation and just felt like to me that the promoters are getting together and see in the huge success that vance was having and started circle the wagons. You know maybe we should have some conversations and you would always swap out like an individual talent like a in a one match maybe would go to work for a big city and a big show for another promoter coast. Nwea basically all those promoters had an agreement they would work together and you know do all the right things where each other was concerned. But i think awa was pretty much a stand alone you know company and so for them to do a co op. Show with jim crockett promotions. You know it it. Let everybody out there know that. Hey maybe we better start working together a little closely. The promotions cost. You know he was continuing to go around and take the top talent from every territory so in a sense. Jim crockett to combat that. You know he had flare six months or so. Before you know the rock and roll express arrived in the midnight express and the buddy landale and the arn anderson's and all these guys that came along and eighty five for jim. Crockett he was. He was assembling an all star team as well and it was just who could get the dallat because there were no contracts in those days it was a handshake deal and it was your word and and all that but it was a race to gobble up all the talent in pretty much. Have to all star teams. We're building an all star team here. You guys do show in richmond. Virginia here in august and tully blanchard gonna fight magnum to a no contest. When what are you know aren't anderson makes the save on august eighteenth. We've got nine thousand fans in charlotte to see dusty in magnum take on only in the main event singles action and columbia with orange and sam houston on the twenty second A little bit of a change of pace in philadelphia on the twenty third. It's only against jimmy valiant. The bug man and pistol pez wildly. Then we're going to do. Tv on the twenty four for we see and only taking on brody chase and jason walker force that is very much in enhancement Match but let's take a listen to the promo from that show. This is august twenty-fourth nineteen eighty-five. We saw these two men win earlier here today. The national tag team champions only in our anderson toda your body mama's stake in the olden days program.

"Com skew. This arm you talk about the horsemen. We see this kind of really being very over heels and then you have the midnight express being very over heels. Did you ever watch those matches and kind of see. What can we do that. they're not doing. what can we do. Some friendly rivalry there because those guys were nipping at your heels as the top deals in the company. I wash them every night. Because i was amazed at what they did. I was such a fan. I am to this day. You know people ask me all the time. Do you miss the wrestling part. And there's times that i miss when it's done really badly but i see out easily. It could be fixed. I wish i was there to fix it for the person or when it's done really really good and to this day i feel the same way when it is really good stuff like those guys man. I couldn't. I can watch it every single night because again they were pros. They're going to these towns. They're switching it up every not they didn't get a match that worked. It just took that match everywhere. Of course you had fans there will go to greenville. Spartanburg rates up the road for them right. Yeah had to be aware of switching stuff up him professional that nothing ever looked the same so i was another fan getting to see what all these guys note and then they knew a bunch you know. They were incredible. So i would i would. I don't know if they watch our stuff. I would bet you more than dennis. Bobby cornet would and would probably convey something that he saw to them on the back when i was like oh yeah business from cornell was was was was business and would pick up on stuff. And so i-. Jim cornet was more more valuable than just a mouthpiece to them yes he really was. He wrote down notes right house to pay off and all that right but also if he saw something that baby down the road he could take advantage of. If we worked with those guys award just to make it appear that like a good manager a good scout was he was scouting us all the time right. Do you agree with. It's only as far as the differences between the horsemen and the midnight express. What arms kind of saying. Yeah i agree with it. I thought and i'm go back in the day back in the eighties when mid eighties. Right before eighty seven eighty five eighty six eighty seven eighty eight and not really but those years there were two great. He'll factions factions of wigan. Have they were the midnight express and there were the horsemen and they were spoiled so good that we ran to towns. That's why we ran to towns because we had great deals on both sides i remember. Do you remember I know you remember the rock and roll. Express super summer sizzler. Tour were y'all un only wrestled them every town and there was all it was a single main of it right and it was just the towns like florence and stuff and drive because it was at the end of the bashes right yes. It was the first weekend in august days off right. They said you know we're gonna book this tour. Do you only want to work it. Probable towns right ever had yes right. It was and it wasn't a big towns. It was ashville. It was florence at the football stadium. It was the towns. The reason i know was. Because i was on the tour and i was on the bus with ricky robert. Alda's girls okay on the and jimmy valiant also snuck in so he can go without so he could go save trans happy. Get on the bus or get on the phone. So into all those towns. And what. I remember about it was that the bigger towns had dusty flair. They had the midnight express against the road. Warriors in the bigger towns. Had you guys against the rock and road. Swiss sold out everywhere. And because you remember henry. Marcus the promoter in south carolina. Hi henry always bitched all time. He would get me on the phone. Only thing i get. Is god damn jimmy. Valiant in the raging bull manny fernandez. And that ain't drawn shit. Okay so i'll say henry. What what can i do. Okay so a never forget. We were in florence and that stadium was sold out. And it was you guys rock and roll express super summer sizzler tour and i just opened the door to the ticket office. There and henry had a pile of money and he was counted as a henry house. The engaged for you tonight. And i shut the door on. Did he was a sizable ron stuff. You oh he would stuff. The money is the of outdoor show and only even remember what he turned in. It was like a stadium. It was a high school. Yes yes turned in forty four grand. That's right sixty four right. Yeah yeah one. More quick markets. I know we're talking about bobby but this needs to be told because to me. It's one of the great stories when all he was booking for the crockett's henry would call and wanted to know what the card was. Okay so he was okay. Hinder here's what we got. We got something big for you henrik. We've got we've got rick flair we've got and then he would cushion hang up the phone as he's talking. Okay hinder your callback. He say henry. God damn it had great card for you. He said if you're going to hang up on me okay. Then i'm not going to give you the great. Here's what we got. We got flair. And we've got walk whom we got. Click and hang up again and he'd do it like three times to the point where henry we get in this car from columbia south carolina and drive up to charlotte okay. I heard you guys had a big cart for you. Had a bad disconnection. He did that to him. All the time. Isn't that a great store. I mean that's only anderson henry. Marcus is what that is. Well i just you know just remember back at the thing was what made the rock and roll so diverse is when i worked with those guys. It was a totally hundred percent different match. It's like they're the best one. I think we had just because the setting involved was they were the champions the rock and roll. We wrestled them in greensboro on a big show. Them as the champions inside a cage star aid was that the was that the atlanta greensboro thinks. And we took it to about fifty minute mark. Now all of the it wasn't you're setting dream setting of two heels champions who just got beat up for the whole time because it didn't work. They were the challenge so we both of them up and it went about fifty minutes. And if you remember that final tag The robber mate they both sold. And maybe comeback robert Uh scooped up ricky fan on the deal kicked in the back top right one-two-three flip them all three and a half. We stopped all the way out of the cage. They were hails chime. Get out right. Yes i do. It was over. We had more heat than if we'd walk right because they basically sold the home and it was totally different from the match. They would have with them. And that you know. But but still with express with bobby and you guys back in the era one of the things that made bobby great was you could go fifty minutes and you can have a good matching fifty minutes. There wasn't a lot of stalling. There was a lot of fans weren't bored with fifty or even our sixty minute they. We're bored with it at all. Because of what guys like bobby and yourself you guys could do. I mean it was. It was an all you talk about. I really think that the i think of the art of wrestling man. And there's an art to it. As you know chris and You know bobby was one of the guys that could really paint a great picture for you and for a long time it just popped in my head..

"Couldn't be here without the hall of famer himself the founder of the four horsemen the creator of the spine. Buster ladies and gentlemen. Here he is. It's our own anderson aren't how are you man houser by going good man better than i deserve excited me here. I'm loving what we're doing taking a walk through memory lane and of course we're talking about july of nineteen eighty five today. We tease at the end of last week's episode. But you guys are going to be in. Greenville south carolina on july first. And they're doing ten team battle royal where the winner gets fifty grand. So i guess you only split the brand. Yeah supposedly you won twenty five thousand dollars that night. You're into the purse so we won that yeah. Does this surprise you to tell you. Bless you thank you sorry without chakma still being a male yes something about that sometimes happens that one i would have remembered whatnot. How would think so money out of money especially in those days what you like about about a royal anything not one single thing and i don't think anybody will tell you different knows her way around a business. It was too easy for people to get involved in this thing to get caught up in their own fistfight and step on you. Low achy knee elbow you in the back of the head there. So many things that could happen about a royal. Because it's just it's pitch up and smear with a bunch of grown men and if you've got a prize that big man they're turning it on and it's not a safe place to be it's a. It's a match that i've never heard any wrestler. Say that they actually enjoyed. And i know a lot of fans really love it but Still it's it's the shits. Yep i've heard gallo's say forearm forearm forearm forearm say call about a royal forearm. Four on yeah or the couple more for forearm forearm and the guys that were smart. But it really didn't do a whole lot for your career were the ones they were four corners and you tried to find one of those corners and get your back into it so you could watch everything that was going on and the rain that avoided anything happening behind you. But they're only four of those and once you got there and got settled in most guys didn't like to give that corner up but it didn't leave the aged to a bunch of excitement. If you were in the corner well a couple of days. After that on july third you're going to be at the dorton arena and how about this. It's another tag team battle royal this time. Ivan crusher khrushchev win it. I guess this was just the flavor of the week the other participants in this battle royale are of course magnum. Ta manny fernandez the barbarian and superstar. Billy graham of course you and only jimmy valiant and starship eagle catch everybody up on who starship eagle is. I've been a lot of people. don't recall. who is it. all come on you know who starship eagle was. I really don't scott hall. I didn't remember that. Yeah he came in with a coyote in eagle american starship. Of course coyote was very young. Dan spivey But yeah scott hall here working as starship he goal. How long did that last night very long at all. I think he got his big break with you guys Helping cleaned the ballpark for crockett and then worked his way in here. And he's gonna find some greener pastures up in the awa has some success there and then he's off to the races also in this mash. Buddy landale kendo nagasaki. That's a name. We've spent much time talking about any good kendo nagasaki stories you can share with us kind of double back scott hall that three often. I don't remember like he. That was when he was really big to he was he was a big up. Dude would not remember that. I don't know that must've been a real short stay. I don't think he was there for long less for sure. There's a new sports drama series on stars and it's set in the world of indy wrestling. Heels follows a family owned wrestling promotion as two brothers war over control of the league and their late. Father's legacy ace and jack spades rivalry. Both in and out of the ring is the main event brother versus brother hero versus. He'll even see in punk a stepping back onto the map for a cameo alexander. Ludwig plays a spade to beloved hero. Young hotshot and the star of the duffy wrestling league outside the ring a struggles to reconcile his idol status with this habit for self-destruction saving a male plays his brother and league. He'll jack spade is hard working. Proprietor husband and father is trying to breathe new life into the wwl. Don't miss heels. Premiering sunday august fifteenth only on stars and the stars app had a you know awa at a real good run. Yeah oh well that's probably just my memory playing tricks on me moving on. What was the next question. Kendo nagasaki and you got handle stories. Okay yeah you know. He had that look he had that minjah outfit. I think he had the before mood ahead. The missed muna thinks stolen from him right. I think so. i think it's borrowed. Maybe is the term. They prefer maybe bought on on insult anybody. But i know kendall had it. He was Jj dylan had managed him at some point during his career. I think prior to this maybe in texas or no. That wasn't jj was. Where's the other guy with the bald head. That gary hart. Gary hart. I think that was. The association was familiar with maybe from dallas prior to him coming to crockett or was that afterwards. You know. I don't recall off the top of my head. Let's keep running through the list here. Though we got dick slater and bus sawyer. Ron bass and bus tyler pats knock on danny brown and stoney burke and sam houston haven't spent much time at all talking about stoney burke and he gets tony stories now stony was one of those guys that i think probably pass through pretty quickly that i don't recall if i saw a picture of him. I might sam. Houston we've started figuring out was pretty pretty talented around that time Stoney burke july fourth the next day you're back in the omni man you guys are running the omni. A ton here tells you where the businesses interesting to note here. In july of eighty five. The opening match has bobby eaton and dennis kandari so Kinda co cool little footnote in history when you think about it. The main event is flared magnum. Ta but somewhere in the middle now. It's only an arn against buys and brett sawyer. So it's been a buzz and dick slater. Now it's buzz and brett sawyer so it's family versus family. I like that. Yep me too personal issue. You could skip around when you shoot an idol conrad and you'll remember this in those days. If it was something that really worked you could get away from it for a couple of weeks and still be promoting. Say that there wasn't a show that had those participants the andersons sawyer's say three weeks away. You could still be promoting it and reminding people with a clip on tv. Hey member this happened a week ago two weeks ago and you can keep it fresh without having to just jump and run to that match so the fact that we doubled back in that was now. Brett and buzz is our opponents. People still remembered to pothead. It was still pretty clear in their mind. I want to mention. You're actually gonna miss a couple of shows here. You're gonna miss july fifth and on that's an appearance in richmond. Virginia you were originally supposed to be in a tag match against bass and tyler. Eventually they get deaton. Tatum to substitute for you. And only you're also supposed to be in the main event which once again is a tintin battle royal. But you're not there so instead it's a nine team battle. Royal any idea why you would have missed the show here on the fifth day after the fourth of july.

And i'm looking forward to so many great stars on writing a story now yesterday a couple days ago i talked to cody. Rhodes magnum ta tony. Shivani and and michelle roads Cody's mom because. I'm doing a piece for fox sports Foxsports dot com about dusty going into their hall of heroes on a week from tomorrow night. So it's a it's gonna be a fun event. I'm very emotional. Event with dusty. Go into the hall of heroes Road warriors going in baby doll jimmy valiant a cool group Going in and i'm kinda excited way to hear how hurricane helms gregory hounds is going to be the emc. I expect a hell of a job quite funny guy short guy so it's in charlotte the hilton August fourth thirty seven. And it is. If you're a fan you can't not like it. If you're able to get there and i understand everybody can't get there but there's folks killing around the country go to it you can't get there. I get it but if you go. I promise you you'd be hard pressed to not have a wonderful time in charlotte next week. Jim one thing. I would ask about wrestlers looking back at in learning from history. The history of their sport. they're industry. did you notice a change in terms of in the nineteen eighties. How much reverence and knowledge did wrestlers in the eighties. Half for wrestlers in the seventies and the sixties and then in the nineties did that change in the two thousands. Did that change. Have you noticed that as you've aged in the business you've noticed younger wrestlers either respecting and knowing history more or less or was it about the same. It's kind of a mix bag. Well i think that the smart wrestlers are the guys that study. dvd's now are go online digitally and look at their predecessors. The guys that are smart. Do that the guys. That are Defiant maybe the word or you know. They just aren't smart enough to figure there's a lot more to learn than they already have learned But the smartest reference. I know one example. steve austin was a tremendous student of the game. He watched it a lot of Videotape and he watched a lot of content a lot of product during his wwe. Ron that even when he was on top of the world nobody can touch him so He was just he was a real student of and he still is by the way so The it this way. The smart wrestlers Anybody anybody that's in the business that here's this. The best advice. I could give you as far as outside. You know being reliable. And and not being a problem and creating problems for yourself is to study your predecessors and pick little things out of their game that you are able to transfer to today and that's not saying you become. You're gonna wear wool tights and all the bad guys are gonna wear black boots. That'd be face gonna wear white boots. And i'm not saying that whatsoever i'm talking about the nuances and some guys don't realize some fans don't realize that you know faces should burn differently than heels. They they should have different body english than heels. There's little subtle things that the grates or able to do that. Differentiate them if you go back to you to watch old buddy rogers tapes in the fifties. Watch how he walked to the ring. His walked to the ring identified him as two things. I am a star. And i am better than you. He's the he'll and he was. He was amazing. He'll he did that. Simply. no pyro. no music media spotlight every now and then but the way he walked period himself told his story. That's a new onset. Other guys could certainly use today just little things but you wanna do it Where it's natural and organic not where you're trying to be a four invitation of buddy rogers. Be yourself so I i really believe. That's the key thing now and i do my shows. These women shows these questions. I i really encourage young wrestlers that are in the audience man. Pick so these great. And if you're artist Then look at some great painters. Great artists rembrandt's picasso's. If you're look. I can tell you this. I'm watching the in the background. I have the nfl network on the they're doing training and stuff. How many nfl receivers do you think studied. Jerry rice. chris. Carter randy moss. The smart ones did smart ones. Do because there's little things they could pick out those guys game. That will make them a better. Nfl player so it's it's transferable man. I'm sure after the same thing you know. Actors watching actors watching somebody else's work pacino. Deniro where all these guys you can. Just you can learn things. I learned so much from watching. Gordon solely. I watch one of the great things for me when i lived in. Atlanta was joe. Esino head is a big wrestling block on there. And i would watch all these wrestling shows. Saturday night As always between marriages as they say. So i i couldn't get enough product. I was immersed in all week. Wcw and i'd watch all weekend and listen to every announced her because even the now work proceeded to be great. I could learn something from. And i did so and you never stop. Never stop learning. Never stop studying tapes. Great advice. I think that the wealth of just little subtle tips that a wrestler. Who's been in the ring. A lot can pick up from watching the all time greats just makes them better at what they do in ways that some people might not notice overtly like they might not even know why. Why is it. I'm more into this wrestler in the role that he's playing now but they incorporate little tricks of the trade. I'm sure like you talk about wide receivers. Magicians i'm sure great. Magicians past great magicians. It would be crazy not to why would you want to reinvent from scratch things that others have perfected through hard work and time. So yeah i think. Wwe network has helped in that regard. I guess do you think there's more of that. Because of technology that wrestlers over the past ten years or probably learning more from the past or is there more of a disregard for history among today's generation than there was in the past where the technology is there to facilitate for sure. Wait no doubt It's a matter of you know. I can tell you that one of the troubling things. It's a societal issues. not a pro wrestling issues. A societal issue is that a lot of Especially young males and i'm assuming some young females too but it certainly seems to be more prominent in males there's certain certain young certain groups young males that are very defiant and they already know how i got that i or that. I don't know i'm good. I'm good we're you're not good because you're not learning you stop learning and if you come. I've said this before. And i hate to be redundant but it's real simple if you if you wanna reside in any comfort zone in this relationship.

"That was done between the tag champs. Oli thunderbolt and they're talking about rn's actions in always gonna complain that he was tired of carrying the likes of patterson and tommy rich and told patterson watch out the next time he saw him and It comes to a head as you can imagine. And we're going to get there on today's show but aren't winds up. Wrestling ron rossi. And he actually gets the win by submission with an arm bar in two minutes and twenty five seconds. but after the match. Aren't you damn dirty nasty. He oh you refuse to break the hold and continue to assault rossi until fernandez makes save in clears the ring and of course you jumped him from behind knocked him to the floor ramming into the ring post and continued the attack eventually jimmy valiant and pez wildly run out and make the save man. You're you got to be pleased. With your placement here all lee is wrestling royalty at this point. Thunderbolt patterson is as well. And you're in there. Rub elbows with them and featured spots opening the show closing the show and all in between percent. You know you're in a mixture of those guys you know you know that you're going to be featured you know you're gonna have interview time. You're going to have matched time and it. Just i mean it's when you're a player and a soap opera which i don't think our business is a soap opera but it is but it's not but it is but it's not it is certainly a saga that is nice to have a good storyline to follow. And when guys are reacting to things that you do and then you react to what they do and it's a wake hong just piece by piece by piece a small piece at a time and it makes it easy to follow in. It's easy for the audience to get caught up in it and you know only making that decision you know to be my partner pretty much turn heel on the show. He had been a baby face for some time because he wasn't really wrestling that much part. Time announcer part time figurehead part time wrestler. All those things. It was pretty strong statelet and to endorse me. His partner was even stronger for me. I can't tell you you know. Only anderson had a had a lot of prestige in the business. He really did and he carried a lot of weight and when he said he would like to be your partner. It meant so by now. You've probably heard over the years that aren't has a quote unquote money guy. Not everybody listening to this has a money guy. But you're probably thinking man is there more to this crypto thing it feels like a a secret or exclusive club like i don't want it to be like the horsemen raft jumped in in order to get in on this crypto craze coin based believes that everyone everywhere should be able to get in the.

Vv on the sports byline broadcasting network can show bryan alvarez here wrestling observer alive mexican proverbial wrestling observer dot com l. a. night was doing his presentation last night. The million dollar belt and ten bbc came out at night. Night actually did exactly what. I was talking about earlier. In the show that tearful real voice promo about how much he meant to him and his belt and everything like that and of course it was all a swerve he gets the belt on and then he says it's time to drop everything i don't need any throws a right hand and teddy be aussie who retired decades ago because of a bad neck. This dude took the bump of a lifetime huge bump. La nights starts landing the punches and stomping him. The fans were angry about this. And then cameron. Grimes hits the ring and does the greatest comeback you ever saw. He's going nuts. See clotheslines astute over the top rope. The places going crazy he goes over to make sure that ted. Dbs's okay cuts a baby face. Promo pro get outta here mike. This was awesome. I'll give this story line is awesome. I'm it's not awesome and l. a. Night took forever to get where they were going. So they telegraphed it from a mile away. You knew something was going to happen although teddy. Bse jumping up in the air. Taking the flat back like he did and then getting stomped that was the other thing la continued ramble and then he went back for the stomping until Cameron grimes went out. I'm going to give you this one. I still think hammering. Grimes should be a lot more serious in a lot. More in the mix of major titles but there does need to be a mid card. There does need to be popular figures who are not the title picture and this is going to bother a lot of people who only look at the wacky of it and maybe don't understand the point. I'm trying to make here. But prevalje grew up in north carolina right. I know he's not exactly of my age group or anything but boogie. Woogie man jimmy valiant in a way where not with some of the wacky nece. But he's got a healthy dose of it himself but a guy that's gonna pop the fans when he runs out there. He's not going to be in any title pictures he's going to be in volved in feuds with guys like l. a. night who are it's not like he's awful in the ring but i mean big difference between those two so he can take a guy like that and ride with him he can take a guy who's good ring who doesn't have much personality be extra grimes and be successful with it so again. My personal tastes are. They are missing the boat. At a time where i would like to see him higher up but there was always a place for jimmy valiant. I think people today's maybe don't have any idea. How much was over. I know i didn't really get it at the time vienna. Kitty was to wacky for me. But as i watched you know his career and i saw what he was and what he meant to fans he can absolutely cameron. Grimes could absolutely fill that position. He's going to have to la night. Because comparing cameron. Grimes to jimmy valiant. Yes wanna make this clear for the reasons that i mentioned which i think are valid and make sense. They're not exactly. It's not a one to one comparison. But when you got these other guys when you have carrying cross in the top of the card and you're using. Let's be honest here. Trevor lead cameron grimes is..

"Was going on. And where things were going. Okay that is the main strength of vince. Mcmahon on commentary. As a viewer there was never any confusion about if something was supposed to be a diabolical act or something was supposed to be the beginning of a turn or if some he'll was acting away where maybe they're going to be. I mean he spelled it out for you. And i watch these old shows and the commentary because of that that's commentary is supposed to be now. Yes i realized that. He's on the headsets yelling at people. Okay but still. I watch these shows. And the announcers don't know what's going on and the announcers don't know like they don't know nothing and there's no helping you figure out where things are going or helping you to explain things and with vince. Because it's it was his baby. If he thought something was great he could sell it to you because he believed that it was great whereas some angle happens and michael cole. Esther robotically say that he's disgusted. He doesn't care. I know what's going on. He just goes and he said some words and they say the they say the right words but there's no passion and he doesn't know of sasha's supposed to be good or bad and it changes every week anyway. It just sucks so. I thought that vincent a great job as basically the promoter literally telling you this way we said we tell stories back then you know what vincent tell stories and that was it. jim. Ross was you know. And jim ross. Came from a system and underneath a guy that in his own way. Vince mcmahon in cowboy bill watts. You know it was your jim. Ross talks about the fact that he would introduce. The show's. Heathrow devoid pierce. Who would throw to bill watts. And then bill. Watts talk for the next fifty seven minutes of that program up until the very end when he knew jim ross would sign off thanks for watching mid south wrestling because bill watts was going to get across everything that you needed to know as a fan why these guys were important. What is going on. What is a big deal where they going with this stuff. Only anderson when he did his best now. The thing with those guys is for the most part bill. Watts was his. You know pierce was supposed to be the play by play guy but he was supposed to be the color guy. All the anderson was the color guy. That was the part with vince. To where p had a great color guy usually with him tuna bruno. Obviously there was bruno jesse thing but when it was just jesse and then you know when it was just at times heenan and even though he needs more associated with gorilla monsoon but the same sort of way where you know he still had a color guy that was really good. Roddy piper teddy biaz. Whoever he'd be using in the moment you know usually they were also pretty good as well too so just the whole package worked and at the time. There are a lot of a lot of people that didn't like it. Because we're used to gordon solely or our local announcer cobbler. Whoever and vince was there what a maneuver maneuvers. He didn't know. But as you go back and you look and you see what he got over you see where things matter even if it wasn't with hogan with the british bulldog danny davis during he'll wears davis knows the hart foundation is doing what they're doing and stealing the titles from the bulldogs. There are many examples of that. Where in sight looking back. I got a lot more respect for for him and what he did as an announcer. You know the time went on a guy. A guy like gordon soul. He was hired to call wrestling matches. And so yes. He's all about wrestling moves. Vinci's job was to tell the story to sell tickets and pay per views and he did a great job telling the story and one other thing that he did which was so great because it was his promotion and his ideas and his booking. When vince would open the show the tell you what you're going to see tonight. On saturday night's main event or superstars of wrestling or whatever was row. This guy had never seen a more exciting card. He was so excited about what you're going to see tonight. And what he was done talking. You're like i can't tear myself away from the television. I can't believe i'm gonna see the bush-whackers against sheikh in volkoff. I can't wait and things are thinking about like that match. Sounds terrible then. He's yeah what the hell much the bolsheviks in the bush-whackers for but that's that's we're having the promoter as the announcer works you know. And now it's not fair to soley because all the announcers were there to sell the drama. Were there to sell all that sort of stuff. It's just that vince mcmahon. Reinvented that wheel in all those old. Trappings again that old howard cosell. Vince mcmahon died once hulkamania stepped in and once he started doing tuesday night titans and he saw that being. The ringleader was the way to go in again. He did a very good looking back like jimmy valiant. I was never a fan of growing up now. I look at them and go. There's a reason to jimmy. Valiant you know even at his age. He's not jerry lawler but he could come out of retirement in a gym in southwest. Virginia and people will go there and he dance around. And that's the gimmick and that's what worked and that's why you had long jetty but out taking all those bumps you know some of the people that you didn't appreciate when you were younger as you look back on this generational do it to you know you know no matter who it is. They'll find somebody and they'll be people that man you know. This guy should have gotten more roses or i should have appreciated it more back in the day. They'll have the same thing so this person here says. Wb network on peacock update so the we know debuted on peacock today as of this morning. They've added raw episode from two thousand eight to twenty twenty one. No retro raw retrospect having yet they also not added any saturday night's main event episodes either on a positive note they are constantly uploading new content each passing hour so there is a chance that things for the bien. V will be available by april fifth. Seventy seven they put tuesday in texas up so like tuesday texas and talking smack at priority over many of the. Maybe they're doing all of the ours. Tease i in the library. Go back down. Go go down a little bit further w and put some those. Wcw's up there for me. Police ideal person says is anyone in. Aws does not know how to cut a promo if there is they don't cut promos that's the don't put them on tv place. There's plenty.
