How's it going gourmet are you. I'm well thanks for coming on. Is it Getting a lot of people. I assume most people still calling you daniel bryan. What's what's going on with that name. Now is a little confusing. Well it's weird because for a long time people who've known me they've been wrestling in nineteen ninety nine and i was bryan danielson. Pretend years before. Wwe and so for a long time. My friends who had known me before had a hard time calling me dan. O'brien like people on commenter with calming o'brien's out there doing this or whatever i guess that's daniel brian's last name it was kind of weird contact is i'm sure it's hard for fans for sure especially because obviously wwe interest introduces you to millions of pants but most of the people who know me a lot of people just call me bryant anyways so it's not too hard of a deal but but yeah so i'm sure for some people stop for me. It's not as thick. Just like i signed autographs daniel bryan bryan danielson. I'm not worried about it. I'm not ashamed to admit i was a big total bellas and total divas fan and obviously nikki and brie on the show brian. So that was always. That always threw me for a loop since. You're always dan. O'brien w mix. That was like introduction to dan to brian. Dana's yeah we'll be more or is when somebody like cody rhodes and tell me dirty. Dan and.

I very little about sports anymore. Just because everyone twitter is an asshole. And i i disagree when just trying to have like a light fun thing and i was going to tweet like if you this year. Bet will the yankee score. I know in every game. You're probably very rich right now. They don't squawk i and they did today with the aaron judge moore but they never score. I it's very rare. And i don't know curious. Is that a bet that is offered on sites these days now the game so prevalent it a lot of spots you can find which team must work than game. Obviously you have to pay a substantial price for the road team. Because they're going to get a for trying to do so and then a one of the big betting markets. That's really growing in popularity for major league baseball as everyone gravitates towards this quick fix is will there be a run scored in the first inning..

"I tell. People in your whether your tweet this out they can you on you All usual where will. You Talking Islands and I guarantee you people are going to hear this and I'll probably get ripped to shreds. But the thing is I don't give a shit the point. Difference. It Jimmy Traina Colon Louis Soho is more of a winner you know that I come. Come on don't don't be like trump now that we know that was a joke but he might know my only point is you you think great player equals winner. There's a difference between winning and being a great player that's. We're talking about specific is with you're the best player in the sport now forgetting steroids Veyrat. Okay. Forgetting steroids I mean that brings up but he's forgetting that Iran was the best player in the sport many years. Here's the most feared Clare at the plate many years where he helped his team win many your team. Yeah. So that makes you winner and he got one championship the idea that. The better the more pure argument Charleston player the last twenty years at least and. The fact that he's is he never wins there's nothing to do with trout with. Around might trump. He's not the best. In the year we've been able to put together I don't know. I. Don't understand how you can say Mike Trout is a winner like what is that based on? You've never seen him in the playoffs. You've never seen him in a post like, what are you basing because he because he's the best point in the game he's a winner. Woman Choir, our the idea that you wait arena. stunk every single year is they're getting Charles Barkley was a winner. Yes. Dan Marino. Great quarterback not a winner. WHO Go we hadn't. And I'll say this I mean Mike Trout you know I don't I don't want to. Mike Trout re-signing with the angels was iphone. One of the dumbest things I've ever seen in sports because he's never going to win a title now. The team's always behead. It's always bad. Number One, you don't always be bad people always even even with. Taxes it's like well, they're gonNA nobody knew there they they guarantee their bad and the guaranteed Asia never win. I going to be bad because the Rangers had no money to pay any pitchers. That's. A little bit different. But but here's the deal though you. But you're looking just as fans wavy also these people live and so when you get a chance well, how to look at it we're doing dump podcast here and I'm talking about something that's completely wrong. He's making a decision. They offered them what? Four, hundred, twenty, three miles. So, he said, all right. Why don't I? Twenty three, million, he done. I don't need many tight off. With all other all off a billion dollars. All right. Maybe not only to win any titles I don't need to be labeled a winner by Andrew Marshon haphazardly. Why thing's winner he's got an ability to the best player in the Jenner Anyway. So he spends the next saying the only way you can beat because your criteria is the only way you can.

"Trending PlayStation five the future of gaming we did we just talk about this out as a reward for the honor roll we got the kids the PlayStation four cups because dude you do know PlayStation five coming out number right now it's trending Bonnie Jill on Twitter as like because they're doing some big presentation tomorrow looks like I might have been maybe the biggest idiot of all time well you'll you'll be hearing all about PlayStation five a right around copes I say November when these kids start going dad dad Christmas is coming to PS five PS five we need a PS five I don't know how you gonna cry Hagen handle that situation but I would say right around November you'll be hearing about it or just right now kids gonna come home school looking all sad what's going on because my kids want the my friends won't talk to me because I PS four right now and then they just screwed because then it's going to be like all those PS four games here well turns out they're not accessible with the PS five you got to get a whole new system and then you got to read by all the games because those games are compatible with the old system it's just what they do it's a racket it's a racket out there getting that way god bless that racket you know that for the they they they they figured it out is what I mean they and then they're going to get and I guarantee they'll be a game that's going to get unveiled right around the holidays will be the greatest game ever created in the history of mankind maybe like the latest Star Wars game or something like that and it's going to be well this game is only compatible with the PS five of course so that's good it's basically like the mob really is what you're saying it's like the month is always run in this Tony I say you know you're running your business can stay open just as long as I can you know wet my beak right I saw I saw on Twitter was thirteen years ago today poly six ten oh seven yeah that Jimmy Traina one of the great sopranos fans on Twitter is a blogger he said it was on this day thirteen years ago that Tony soprano went in for some onion rings he and a guide a members only jacket walked out of a bathroom who may or may not have been significant we still don't really know right we actually in our household within the last forty eight hours it was a discussion as to whether or not Tony got killed in the film kidding yes aha with a listing service had that come up yeah we're talking about finality because you know we're we're creeping up on the Ozark finale where it's probably not working probably to get it this way you can and everybody who's seen the Ozark season three finale says all we do you see the fed now I all love it here yeah and copes is seen it is like do you not gonna believe it for now so I'm way you know I'm excited I'm going in and I do have a little bit of advance warning you know that something's going to happen and we start talking about finality you know in some ways and and Candice said she was well at least you know I can't imagine the whole family will get killed like to chat with Francis and I said well the whole family didn't get killed in the sopranos she goes well how do you know is that wasn't that wasn't any of the premise that was whacked out premise that the whole family got got wiped out yeah since I've never heard that one before somebody or mass murder you know I said yeah check out the blog mark I don't know you see my blog you can visit my web page of the the son of Sam diuresis was my little blog where are you thirteen years later probably where you are you well I would say I would say I mean I kind of agree with you first off like it's kind of like in the mafia circles they don't it even if there were going to kill Tony they would they they don't like it the general code is you don't mess with civilians unlike Tony's kids and his wife would have nothing to do with that beef so I would tend to think that they were not killed you know it's a great question dude I guess as time's gone by I mean the law I have to think that they were coming in the WHAC Tony and the way the lights just go out like that I mean it it left more than the other schools as that's all David chase wanted you to see we will no longer be like giving you the the the look into Tony's life and this is far as it goes so I don't know I mean it makes sense that you would get one theory that it that it's it's it's that he has to live his life in constant fear of things like this like that that's it that that that's the last image that group yeah like he this is a life forever he's got to think like that bottom line is about thirteen years later people still there they're angry the pest I don't maybe I think today but nobody liked it right I can listen to our review because yeah I would do trystane sopranos reviews that would end very interesting yeah what we said that next morning on that review we we don't we only had about eight hours to process not something on the air hot off the presses yeah give it take on on on something that still thirteen years later remains controversy what do you think about the because you're right that's the.

"There's a lot going on in the sports business world obviously the way we consume all of it were the perfect people to talk to Jimmy Traina SI now's train of thoughts hole to the SI media podcast as well Jimmy how are you what's going on well my enemy okay how about you yeah yeah absolutely all good I saw you write about we were talking about a little bit ago Steph curry's comments on Jimmy Kimmel with regard to how this cord actually I want to call it a positive but maybe there is a silver lining with fans not in the stands we might actually get to hear what it sounds like all the court or on the field if it's baseball or whatever he was talking about trash talk what what do you think of that whole thing I think it yeah you know what Steph curry said was that it was going to be very appealing to fans and I think he's a hundred percent correct with no fans in the stands obviously the television broadcast becomes a completely different thing now where you can pick up the audio whatever I'm saying and you know curry made the point that he thinks players going to sort of step up their trash talk game and you know it and I think if you're a casual NBA fan and you're flipping the channels that there's a game and you can hear what the players are saying to each other I mean that may that may make you keep that game tuned in for a few minutes longer than you would have if that wasn't the case so it's you know this is gonna be a lot of I think it no matter what sport you're talking about is going to be a lot of interest from sort of back CAREC standpoint to see what games are like with no sense of the sense but the NBA could really benefit from it given the way the players do you like to get on each other yeah the one question I have because I'm totally into it but by the same token it's not like that trash talk passes FCC guidelines so how do I other networks handle that yeah I mean listen they'll definitely be a delay there's no doubt about that but I'm pretty sure all life support programming comes at the ladies days yeah but what after what they have to find a way to to bleep out certain points of it but you know that what we heard from the NFL is and maybe that's a little different in terms of hearing trash talk and what not but they're they're planning on the on the piping in fake crowd noise maybe even having graphics that make it look like the stadium is full what's the better idea to pipe in crowd noise or to let us hear something we've never heard before on the field completely one thousand percent against piping in crowd noise the the beauty of sports is that it's the ultimate reality show sport is re at reality TV is not reality TV it's worked at sports and reality TV and I don't think you need to use contrived nonsense to spice up a broadcast so I'm anti piping in the news give us every game as is whether there's no fans in the stands you know twenty five percent capacity whatever it is that when you have a sporting event give it to us at this hour I was also talking earlier about how this might be a such an invitation for the sport of baseball for example before this all happened we were talking about how to Mike up players how to get more on the players it may be now were forced into this and for baseball it's exactly what we've been waiting for absolutely and I'm sure the network it should be five PM ESPN and I'm sure they would do anything they could have that I'm doing my pre corona virus they would have done anything they could assist you get more players miked up for more games now I don't see you know baseball comes back with no fans in the stands I don't see how they can avoid it I think it's got to become sort of part of the telecast we'll see what happens and yeah I think it's going to be something you see more of for sure Jimmy Traina SI media podcast is with us who do you think should be in the Monday Night Football both great question you know I sort of the both of the I'm of the belief that sort of less is more just give us a straight traditional telecast don't try to beat so special you know the rumors of that is failing to say in house for it Steve levy one of the guys that play by play can at least find he's great he's yeah give me a great call doesn't you know try to out scream anyone doesn't try to get cute give you a good solid broadcast the in house names they've mentioned Dan Orlovsky Lewis Reddick me any of those people would be finalised and you come up with a dream scenarios you know where I don't know get learned long quest at a retirement or something like that it be phenomenal to listen to every Monday night but you know Kevin Harlan does the games every Monday on a radio he's under contract with CBS I don't there's a way where you can sort of when you heard that but you know those are sort of you know fantasy baseball type scenarios he also what I think is going to happen I think you know they'll get a Steve levy and you know Brian greasy Steve levy then I'll ask you something like that Sam it's interesting you say you know that the that your corals are more of a traditionalist on on this whole thing because ever since it was way back when Howard Cosell dandy don Frank Gifford ever since then people have title wanted Monday Night Football to sound different sound a little bit more like a party so if I took the names out of it and just said what's the tone what's the vibe Monday Night Football is going for what it what would you say that well here's the thing you know back then that will we be here you're talking about with with our coach Alexander Monday Night Football was special Monday Night Football is not special anymore V. the Thursday night game now it's come on fox that's always a tough game the Sunday night game on NBC they get the best control and the game that gets more viewers than any other game every single week is the Sunday for twenty five game whether it's on CBS or fox that's the money game now it's Sunday four twenty five so the S. pen game act passed on a good week is sort of the fourth best game of the week and I also think with the addition of the Thursday night game and you know everything being available to viewers on Sunday is that you get something at night I think by Monday people are sort of I don't want to see football about because if that's not the case people are always gonna wanna watch football though is but you know they've had their fill of football but Monday night to three because it's really you that second helping of ice cream basically it so just do a traditional broadcast don't try to make it this you know booger McFarland on the cream I mean I was just as Buhari's do a regular broadcast I did me all over to the topic of the week with the the baseball arguing it's just that right I mean there's there's no way this doesn't end up in some sort of an agreement that you think you were saying you know I know the players are getting killed here especially Blake Snell what he said you know but and fans I think just want to see games and they don't care about sort of the Abbas will break down but I mean the owners are leaking stuff like crazy they're negotiating via the BT I mean but there was already talking like the players being angry at a proposal if they haven't even got so the whole thing is really distasteful for both sides you know I sort of you know I know a lot of people are upset with Blake Snell I wasn't I sort of it maybe it's just because of how I covered things and what I mean I I think that what I was more fascinated by that the way the story happened I mean right yeah he's a twenty seven year old guy playing video game to make a comment on twitch it got turned politely turned into like you don't get a press conference at the plate right now all right you know so it you know everyone is sort of you know it's a really stressful statement and you will only hear nonsense and again you know you guys think of dumb things on this twitch free day you know I he wanted to step back take a breath of my MLB and the Players Association deal what they got to deal with that no we're not gonna make a difference in the matter six Jimmy it's you to your Cup of tea I have to think the last day odds has gotten a lot of wheels turning in a lot of executive rooms right now because it's put up such big numbers and getting such talk and I don't know how quickly stuff can be put together but even in a perfect world we've still got another couple of months of sitting here waiting for actual live sports at least if we're talking baseball and basketball so in your mind the last dance has sort of potentially open the door to what well it can go either way to open the door to a lot of really bad copy cats out yeah or it could lead to some documentaries and you have to hit the right subject now they've hit it because it's the greatest basketball player of all time and he's a guy we really haven't seen for twenty plus years I my fear is that these networks are just you know don't try to make a documentary on you know someone who's been around for three years or something like it you know it doesn't work like that I think the fact that Jordan really has not been in the public eye that much is what makes this poster you know you have his footage from those nineties days there with the balls so I I would whoever's going to do to copy cats often people well because sported nobody copies more than sports executives say you know what network because they'll do it and they they should be careful because it's you know not going to be what it is for other athletes this is located yeah and I jumped ahead to it maybe maybe making an assumption that that you think the last dance is great but but what is your critique of everything we've seen up to this point I think it's I think it's great I think it's extremely entertaining I think that you know it is a Michael Jordan back documentary so I think there are some things in there that are nonsense you know if they are not E. S. P. ends so you know it can people are not gonna go on Twitter and and critique anything so you know it's part of it is universally praised you could have the biggest sports media company pumped up with other people but it's it's it's great it's entertaining and there are some issues here and there with it I mean you know me I wrote about this this week I mean they they they tried last week they tried so hard to push this narrative that you know Jordan won six titles or whatever it was because you know he's a jerk to his teammates I mean no they won six titles because they had Michael Jordan Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman graphic twenty rebounds a game that's what they want so a little much to take when it's you know he punched the car and then they want to title eighteen now doesn't really work that way yeah what what what else did you find you said there are few things that you think are are are nonsense give give me of yeah that's that's the biggest thing you know you also you know there is AP there's sort of this I mean everything there to justify your date not being a great guy and you're not gonna get another side of it because it's sort of this documentary so but that's fine you just got to take that with you know you got it you wouldn't you.

have a sporting event give it to us as as well although I was also talking earlier about how this might be a such an invitation for the sport of baseball for example before this all happened we were talking about how to make up players how to get more on the players it may be now were forced into this and for baseball it's exactly what we've been waiting for yeah absolutely and I'm sure the network there should be five PM ESPN and I'm sure they would do anything they could have the under my pre corona virus they would have done anything they could assist you get more players miked up for more games now I don't see you know Basil comes back with no fans in the stands I don't see how they can avoid it I think it's got to become sort of part of the telecast we'll see what happens and yeah I think it's going to be something you see more of for sure Jimmy Traina SI media podcast is with us who do you think should be in the Monday Night Football both it's a great question you know I sort of the both of them I'm of the belief that sort of less is more just give us a straight traditional telecast don't try to beat so special you know the rumors of that is failing to say in a house for it Steve levy one of the guys that play by play cat at least five he's great he's you know give you a call doesn't you know try to out scream anyone doesn't try to get cute give you a good solid broadcast the in house names they've mentioned Dan Orlovsky Lewis Reddick me any of those people would be finalized and you come up with a dream scenarios you know where I don't know get learned long quest at a retirement or something like that it be phenomenal does it to everybody and I but you know Kevin Harlan does the games every Monday on a radio he's under contract with CBS on offers a way where you can sort of who knew her that but you know those are sort of you know fantasy baseball type scenarios he also what I think is going to happen I think you know they'll get a Steve levy and you know Brian greasy Steve levy down I'll ask you something like that it's interesting you say you know that the that your corals are more of a traditionalist on on this whole thing because ever since it was way back when Howard Cosell dandy don Frank Gifford ever since then people have title wanted Monday Night Football to sound different sound a little bit more like a party so if I took the names out of it and just said what's the tone what's the vibe Monday Night Football is going for what it what would you say that well here's the thing you know back then that will we be here you're talking about with with Howard Cosell etcetera you know Monday Night Football was special Monday Night Football is not special anymore V. the Thursday night game now it's come on fox that's always a tough game the Sunday night game on NBC they get the best control and the game that gets more viewers than any other game every single week is the survey for twenty five game whether it's on CBS or fox that's the money game now it's Sunday four twenty five so the S. pen game at best a good week is sort of the fourth best game of the week and I also think with the addition of the Thursday night game and you know everything being available to viewers on Sunday is that you get something at night I think by Monday people are sort of I don't want to see football about because if that's not the case people are always gonna wanna watch football though is but you know they've had their fill of football but Monday nights at three o'clock in the it's really that second helping of ice cream basically it so just do a traditional broadcast don't try to make it this you know booger McFarland on a crane I mean I was just as Buhari's do a regular broadcast I did me all over to the topic of the week with the the baseball arguing it's just that right I mean there's there's no way this doesn't end up in some sort of an agreement that you think you were saying you know I know the players are getting killed here especially Blake Snell what he said you know but and fans I think just want to see games and they don't care about sort of the Abbas will break down but I mean the owners are leaking stuff like crazy they're negotiating via the BT I mean there there was already talking like the players being angry at a proposal if they haven't even got so the whole thing is really distasteful for both sides you know I sort of you know I know a lot of people are upset with Blake Snell I wasn't I sort of it maybe it's just because of how I covered things and what I mean I think that what I was more fascinated by that the way the story happened I mean right yeah he's a twenty seven year old guy playing video game to make a comment on twitch it got turned politely turned into like you don't get a press conference that the bike right now all right you know so you know everyone is sort of you know it's a really stressful state and and and people don't want to hear nonsense and again you know I have a guy sitting some dumb things in this twitch feed a I I I you know I the only step back take a breath of might MLB and the Players Association deal what they got to deal with that no we're not gonna make a difference in the matter it's all right Jimmy it's you to your cuppa tea I have to think the last day of this has gotten a lot of wheels turning in a lot of executive rooms right now because it's put up such big numbers and getting such talk and I don't know how quickly stuff can be put together but even in a perfect world we've still got another couple of months of sitting here waiting for actual live sports at least if we're talking baseball and basketball so in your mind the last dance has sort of potentially open the door to what well it can go either way to open the door to a lot of really bad copy cats out yeah or it could lead to some a documentary then you have to hit the right subject now they've hit it because it's the greatest basketball player of all time and he's a guy we really haven't seen for twenty plus years I my fear is that these networks are just you know they'll try to make a you know documentary on you know someone who's been around for three years or something like it you know it doesn't work like that I think the fact that Jordan really has not been in the public eye that much is what makes this poster you know you have his footage from those nineties days there with the balls so I I would whoever's going to do to copy cats often people well because sported nobody copies more than sports executives say you know what network does it they'll do it and they they should be careful because it's still not going to be what it is for other athletes this showcase yeah and I jumped ahead to it maybe maybe making an assumption that that you think the last dance is great but but what is your critique of everything we've seen up to this point I think it's I think it's great I think it's extremely entertaining I think that you know it is a Michael Jordan backed documentary so I think there are some things in there that are nonsense you know it's airing on ESPN so you know it can people are not gonna go on Twitter and and critique anything so you know it's part of it is universally praise because you have the biggest sports media company pumped up with older people but was in it it's it's great it's entertaining and there are some issues here and there with it I mean you know me I wrote about this this week I mean they they they tried last week they tried so hard to push this narrative that you know Jordan won six titles or whatever it was because you know he's a jerk to his teammates I mean no they won six titles because they had Michael Jordan Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman grabbing twenty rebounds a game that's what they want so a little much to take when it's you know he punched you courage then they want to title eighteen now doesn't really work that way yeah what what what else did you find you said there are few things that you think are are are nonsense give give give me of yeah that's that's the biggest thing you know you also you know there is AP there's sort of this I mean everything there to justify your date not being a great guy and you're not gonna get another side of it because it's sort of this documentary style but that's fine you just got to take that with you know you got it you want you go we understand that going into it I think that Jerry Krause thing it's a little late in the he's not here to defend himself in any way shape or form so it would be nice if you know it wasn't so one sided but they sort of backed off that I think the last few weeks you know it's but like I said it's it's great it's entertaining and it's just you know couple things here and there that I think you know there's a doing a gender to push Jimmy Traina SI media podcast time for the big finish all away are you ready to roll I'm ready to roll okay here we go Jimmy tried all the big finish.

"Everyone to the m M. qb gambling podcast special off season edition. We haven't been with you since the Super Bowl and we're pop it in here during a during the off season for a quarantine edition. Hopefully everyone out there is staying safe and staying in I am one of your co host. Jimmy Traina and I am joined as I was each and every week last week by my Co host Gary Gramling Mitch Goldrich Gary Mitch. How you guys doing hope. You're all safe out there. Gary I was going doing all right. Jimmy settle in here to quarantine time and You know we got through the draft here on the NFL side and Now we gotta do some we win. Totals are dying for that gambling fix. I'm sure you're Mitch of you've been have you bet anything in the last six weeks here and since we've been quarantined we I have to tell you. The world has been so crazy. I don't even remember what my Super Bowl prop bets were. I know I was sitting there in the stadium and I know I lost all of them but I don't even remember what they were so thankfully were buried far back enough in the feed that hopefully none of our listeners. Remember either I have not. It's been awhile since I've placed a bet did a little Online poker tournament with some family and friends play a free tournament quote unquote than you can settle up on the side on venomous. So that's the only gambling I've done since quarantine jared did you have any? Nfl draft wagers. Now now I I I never I never did. The draft wagers just because Well one I'm I'm I'm kind of a worst but to There's too much going on For offs for actual like work stuff d-actually like have the time to sit down and make some thoughtful bets and honestly it's so enjoyable anyway just constantly editing stuff that that weekend that You know there's there's no there's no happiness to be derived. The draft is quite a beast. So we're here. We're here to do a little over under win totals here for the NFL season Obviously I would say take everything. We say with a grain of salt since there's going to be a lot of roster changes between now and the start of a season if there is a season whether it's in September October or Who knows and I would also caution people you know. Be careful about how much money lay out there with these. Because if the season ended up getting canceled in November. When there's a second wave of corona? Make sure you're with a reputable site where you can get your money back because you don't want that going down the toilet so But we're just here to look at the early numbers. Obviously the Brady gronk leaving New England to Tampa Bay. You could probably do a whole podcast on that and all the betting sort of ramifications from that but we'll go through each division. We'll go through the over unders. Give you a little little football here in April and give you an early synopsis of what we're thinking about. Titles I'm sure all three of US will change our mind on maybe one or two picks between now and the start of the season. But let's Let's do a little little check in of where we stand now with all of these so we're GONNA go division by Division will start Afc East. I'll run down the the four teams here and the numbers. And then we'll go to to the FELLAS and get their take so we got the jet. Excuse me we'll start with the Patriots Patriot. Total now without breeding. Gronk is at nine the over minus one twenty see patriots at nine bills. Eight and a half. The under there is plus one thirty fives. The fund digs now. They're in buffalo jets six and a half and the dolphins with two although Ryan Patrick Solaire total. There is six so sorry Gary there an hour under the AFC east here that you have your eye on for a big potential wager. Yeah I'll go with the big one here. I'll go new England and I'll take the under nine winds at a plus one hundred here I I think I mean look. Obviously there's the Brady factor Jarret Stidham. No matter how optimistic you are about him That is going to be a downgrade in two thousand nineteen. Maybe Jared Cinema Be Hall of fame. One day but I I don't think he takes off In Two thousand twenty here Dad Just speak and say twenty nineteen when I met twenty twenty. Sorry about that As all run together and Jimmy they really I when I was five may I? It's like it's like the end of twin peaks when Dale Cooper says with this Yeah so along with the stadium factor in the fact that the offense probably going to be a mess. I mean their their goal is to win. These games like seventeen to fourteen. But you look at what the defense did last year. And it's going to be a great defense but seven defensive touchdowns on top of that thirty six takeaways. I always say year to year. It is very difficult to be at the top of the takeaway rankings two years in a row. It's just yes. There are You know if you have. Ball Hawking guys have agreed. I if you have a great passer she can get a Lotta takeaways. But there's also a fluke factor takeaways and to replicate thirty six takeaways in the season. I just don't think it's very likely that happened. So they sort of fall back to the middle of the pack in that and have a bad offense. I mean this is a seventh win team at that point darry where he got there in the AFC. East I'm Mitch. Struggling here to arrive and I will say you got US confused. 'cause Gary said basically everything I was gonna say not just the takeaways but also defensive touchdowns I mean. We talked about this all year last year. The story was at what point are the Patriots GonNa Tail Off? And then they just didn't. They kept winning games and they finished twelve and four. I know they lost out on the lost. They gave the dolphins and it costs them the two seat in the first round by but we spent most of last year saying that they were not as good as their record indicated and then. I picked them to lose straight up That Game Tennessee. Which are against Tennessee? Which I know a lot of people were shocked by people. Weren't that surprising. Plenty of people took the titans to cover but you know we thought they were going to turn down now. You take away. Tom Brady there in a year of transition. You'd think and obviously they might have Cam Newton or Andy Dalton. I don't necessarily think they'll have either one of them. It seems like they really want them. But you've got to expect some kind of a drop off is GonNa come anyway and then an additional drop off at the quarterback position so it's fun to look at some of these other ones because the divisions totally up for grabs whichever one is going to talk about the look the jets over and the dolphins over like somebody's going to win a couple of extra games if the Patriots decline. But just not knowing. Who's GonNa win the Division Probably Buffalo is I don't know if they'll be favored. I mean people are going to bet on the Patriots of they'll be maybe the actual betting favourite whereas I think a lot of people will pick buffalo but just looking at one that I like. I mean the the Patriots declining. We've been waiting years and years for this. You know this. This is the year to do it You know let's make it happen but but really I think it's the it's the smartest of the options here. I really wanted to pick the the buffalo over eight and a half but the one minus one sixty scared me off so we're all going to be an agreement my other my second choice. There was the Patriot under nine. You don't go from Tom Brady to Jarrett Stidham and not feel it. Sorry it's just I gary. I gave you a great stat day with the defensive takeaways to replicate. That would be a miracle but the stability that Brady brought never hurt. Plays every snap he. You don't lose the best quarterback of all time. I don't care how old he is and not feel it and again. He got that team to where he did last year with hardly any weapons. Good luck with Jarrett. Stidham doing that. I just don't see how the Patriots don't have a down season and can I get. What can I say you know? We should talk about schedule to and this division they play the NFC West which is a great division and the AFC West which is also strong at the top and some of those other teams. I don't know how much they're going to come along. But no gimmes in any of those eight games so you know you always look at the strength of schedule in which divisions might struggle on the whole and that could be a division where a lot of those teams suffer and you see some low win totals so I I liked taking an under because all four of those teams are going to have pretty tough schedules and the Patriots. Obviously playing the first place schedule which means there other games are going to be against. You know they're gonNA have Baltimore and they're GONNA have Houston so they've got a tough one. I let's see if we can mix it up in the AFC north now where we all went patriots and AFC East in the AFC north. You've got the Ravens. Total eleven and a half steelers nine browns eight and a half after the disappointing season and the Bengals with Joe Borrow Five and a Half Mitch. What's your pick here? Yeah so there are few things I like. I mean the Ravens are interesting. 'cause eleven and a half is a lot and I know they were so good last year. Fourteen and two You expect them to be good. I I don't think it's as much of a lock that they'll repeat the amazing season that they had last year as I thought the chiefs were locked to repeat last season as I think a lock to repeat again this coming season. Just looking at the two rosters. I know Lamar Jackson was incredible. And they're rushing attack was historic and they were great but picking them to win twelve games at. That's a lot but I actually. I LIKE THE VALUE ON CLEVELAND. Over eight and a half Especially because it's plus one fifteen so I like to pay out there. That's a team. Everyone loved Cleveland and they've just fallen out of favor so much because obviously they had a really disappointing season last year. But you've got to expect that they're going to bounce back and even if they don't reach the expectations they had last year You know they can still get closer to that and be better than we were. They eight eight or were they. Eight seven and one that season two years ago when Mayfield was a rookie and everyone got excited about it. So if you think that Freddie Kitchens was a big part of the problem and they replaced him with Kevin Stansky. And if you look at this roster the way we've talked about the last two years and think they can go nine and seven and you get plus one fifteen for taking over eight and a half. I actually I. I am tempted by the Ravens but I like that browns over yeah. I'm I'm intrigued by that. Browns OVER REALLY. I think this is the identity as quietly strongest Division in the..

And there's schmolly salesperson I happen to like Jimmy like, I don't know Jimmy. But I haven't a light Jimmy Jimmy train like a guy would hang out with. I think you're pronouncing his name wrong, by the way. But keeping move whatever. I like Jimmy these these live at our show with two guys on ESPN radio. You have to have the power the seniority the small town. To do what coach K has been able to do this year with Duke basketball in terms of shrouding Zion in what feels like a professional blanket of medical secret. And in just shielding Zay on in general from you've seen his highlights. But you have not seen him all over your television being interviewed you need to have the academic resume that do cash you have there. It's a unique set of things that you need to have where you've got the biggest carnival act in sports you've got a rockstar basketball team. And you have the power to actually shield us not just from information, but from the player himself because how much of Zion. Have you heard given his relative level of stardom? How often have you seen him interviewed? And now there's just a what's going to happen here. What is what is going to bring him back for the ACC tournament? Which is to me. It's insane to do that. Well. Let's think about this for a second though because rarely do you get this kind of overt professionalism in the business world of sports. But coach K when you mentioned that if zion's name was I on chefs key. He wouldn't be playing in this tournament. The idea that coach K has to have a decision that he's making here about a dude's net, knee, his whatever his leg has future. And that the decision coincides with returning as soon as coach K needs him. Like that one that one's complicated. You are entrusting an awful lot there that registers at about eighty million dollars with the sneaker contract to. Hey, coach you want to do what's best for the kid or you want to do what's best for you? I mean, he wants to do what's best for him. I mean, that's a natural thing. Right. And that's part of the frustration. You have in college basketball. Is there, Dan? There's no way there is zero way that Zairean Williamson. He's sitting.

"His name meet legally the way that Mark duper once did when he changes name to Mark super-duper. I wanna come up with a nickname one hundred percent in on. All right a middle. Let's give is the middle name today. Give you can I give you some options that I've thought of in the. Passed. Okay. You're sure angel or on head was one that I considered high Israel angel K. But here's the favorite one that I that. I saw I believe it was Billy. You'd appreciate this an LSU pole. Vaulter? I believe who first name was, bro. B R E A U X. So you wanna be Israel, bro, bro? How dope of a middle name. Would that be? I don't believe anyone thinks it's doping. It seems like you're the only one that wanted to put a New Orleans bent on something that doesn't even have to be L that way it's dog as bro. Quinlan for now. Can it be Israel Quinlan until we get a better on union gear? Now, let me explain something to you. Because Bob Costas is basically the broadcast of the sports broadcaster for our times, you in fact, produce something that I couldn't have in fiction, which is learning that his middle name is actually that is amazing in terms of the work that he does the weightiness of the work that he does. And he should absolutely be Robert Quinlan Costas instead of Bob Costas. And you're just shaking my entire world by telling me that the truth that Quinlan, I can't think Mike what is a more hoity toity name. I was going to go cleaning toity. That's a I read that should be using hoity toity goody Aaron. So Robert Quinlan he's English newsmen, but Bobby Q puts a cigarette out on your skin, which is more distinguished, Robert Quinlan causes or how Chapman wingo the third one. What is that as trae? That's trays full name. I know that went to the same boardings. Are you bleeping kidding me with its Chapman? How Chapman wingo and then as a bonus there are two others Roman around. That's where he got the tray and his dad for sure doesn't go by the second or doesn't go by June. Goes this terrible names. He just went by trade donlevatar. It's rich is instill a my material. I think you're pronouncing his name wrong, by the way. But keeping move whatever. I like Jimmy VC's live at our show with this to God's own ESPN radio, so Mike Ryan just informed me that what does this full name? I will call him, Trey wingo for the moment. I have called him how in the past. But this is magical because we need to change the name of that show to go lick and how Chapman wingo the third. I am told that how Chapman wing go the third just phoned in and there is a is their fourth or who's calling chappy who chappie trae son is referred to as chappy, which leads me to believe that he has the exact same name. And we've got a fourth situation going on. All right. Let's see if we can get that confirmed an important matter we've forgotten and you guys need to put in the calendar or something because we are not planners around here. "Romo's seeming clairvoyance and his partner Jim Nancy's bemusement this week the veteran play by play man, Nance repeated the nickname. He's given Romo based on the sixteenth century sear 'Damas almost retired MOS the sports world has been buzzing about romo's ability to predict plays it prompted the Wall Street Journal to dig in and find out if he's really that good the journal studied every one of the two thousand five hundred ninety nine plays Romo called this season. He was right on sixty eight percent of his predictions, not bad. But not perfect proving. He's not some soothsaying mystic rather. A guy with a specific football skill sets broadcasting from me, it's still looking at it from the quarterback's perspective. And it's working for him says Jimmy trainer, he writes about sports media for Sports Illustrated. You know, he went from the field to the booth. So he. He knows the offensive and defensive all the teams in the league. You know, the players he knows the schemes the knowledge is there. But it's not just the knowledge that made CBS exacts take what they say was a calculated risk throwing Romo into the lead analyst chair with no broadcast experience. They found in private conversations with that. He also was really easy to listen to and had an almost giddy enthusiasm about football again, Jimmy traina. He's sort of a combination of football idiot savant and the drunk guy at the end of the bar during a football game. Boy. Yup. Position everything points. This is. Savant drunk.

"All the time. And when you do that with a lot of these great players have you did it with Kevin Durant or Steph curry, and they didn't have to share the ball and had it all the time you'd see similar numbers. But STAN I feel like a jerk because this dude is on a tear of Wilt Chamberlain per proportions. I don't like watching it. And therefore, I'm less impressed than I probably should be with all of the scoring because of what you just said if I gave giving the number here. Stan let's just say that I give blank number of players in the NBA, exactly. The numbers of touches and usage rate. That James harden has how many players are doing. Exactly what James harden is right now, not many. I would say curry Durant. You know, Anthony Davis Ron Brown can't handle the ball. Lebron could do that wherever it is situation. Like that the only difference is LeBron even though our harden gets a lot of assists. Lebron is truly to me a little different because he's a pass first guy who scores a lot of points hardens of score. I guy who will make plays for other people. But LeBron would rather pass the ball. So I don't know if I could see him putting up fifty nine and he did it in the finals. Denise what when he was playing against the warriors. And they were losing. But he was taking all the shots. The Kobe games wasn't. He doing that. Will he wasn't getting these numbers? I mean, these numbers are astounding. I mean, who we really haven't seen what he's doing, you know, since we'll Chamberlain so, but they're not Chamberlain esque, by the way, these would have been this stretching games would have brought Wiltz average down. Well, it's funny. Let's just be clear. On that. It's funny, Dan because he's averaging fifty two point two points per game harden is over the last five tied for the second longest streak of averaging fifty NBA history will Chamberlain his first one hundred sixteen games. Yeah. And and we'll head a five game stretch at the in in one thousand nine hundred sixty two he had a five game stretch where he went sixty something sixty something sixty something one hundred and then they held him to fifty eight the average seventy point two for five games. So anytime, we say something is Chamberlain esque. It's not. Scratching good role for some. I think your appetite for Eminem's might be Chamberlain s. Harden was twenty eight point seven points per game against the the warriors last year. Your awful, I wasn't talking about hard. And I said LeBron a few years ago when he was taking all the shots donlevatar. It's rich is instill in my material. It is Jimmy traina stealing my material get outta here man was that any them a media writer. I think at out of New York who I haven't the likes to God's like I. This is the pivot of God's in. "Listen we tape on Wednesday evening. So maybe news will will come down the pipe. In the meantime, but Vance Joseph Hugh Jackson has have been mentioned as potential replacements here from Armagh Lewis, which at that point. I think Vance Joseph is going to be a good coach someday. But if you Jackson really is a candidate here by did you fire Marvin Lewis like you might as well just keep him? Yeah. I don't know. How to the Bengals I do know. I've heard Mike Brown. Their owner is a really smart football guy. Like he can. Like he's like a coke like he knows the game at that level. I've heard that what's also very obvious is that he likes familiarity. Yeah. He does. We'll see we'll see how that goes one one male by question here. Eddie. Jerry. See let's go with oh, we got a couple of Steelers questions whether this stuff is still playing out there. So we'll we'll hold off on that. But let's go Nick has a question here about Todd Gurley. And obviously we've talked about girly and the MVP candidacy and all that stuff a lot over the last two years Nick ass with Todd Gurley sitting out the last two weeks of the season. And we now are able to assess Andy's argument that losing girly doesn't force the Rams to change their scheme, and Sean MC days counter argument that they do a lot more of what highlights girly skills. We saw C J Anderson have the two big games. Andy. What what do you make of it? As far as what the Rams, I dunno. I guess are without Todd Gurley. And what exactly girlies quote, unquote value is to this offense? I think both arguments gained strength with the CJ Anderson last couple of games, my argument that girlie Jim replace him with someone else and still run the system we saw that with Anderson and McVeigh's argument is yeah. There are certain. Things though that you call more with girly in there. He's mainly talking guessing he's talking about their backfield's screen game among other things, and we have not seen that with Anderson as much so I think everybody's still in position on that one. And Todd Gurley is a great player, and they'll take him over C J Anderson any day of the week. And the Rams a lot of what comes down to it for the Rams is their offense of line. And it's how your golf plays. It's how girly plays. They're built on that offense of line. And when it plays, well, the Rams home, and when it doesn't play. Well, the Rams do what they did against the eagles and bears. Yeah. Yeah. All right. That's a wrap then we'll get more. We'll get more mailbag questions next week. We will have the usual Monday morning show. We'll we'll be back to recap the wild card games. We will do our post-mortems for the for the teams that lose on wild card weekend. And we'll obviously talk a little bit about the the winners as well. But let's can do for now. Thanks to our researchers read foster and buying Taylor and make it sound start. Thank you as always producer, Shelby Royston and the guys at Kate's thirteen you make it sound good. Most of all thank you guys. For listening to this episode of the NFL, deep dive podcast.
