"And Jimmy start the show by dissecting his hosting career have you changed as the host you mean in the last fifteen years uhhuh yellow wall yeah I hope yes I was a terrible host and now I'm just slightly average let me indulge you for a second you've always been brilliant you've always been incredibly witty but and as a gas back in the day I was so terrified to be on the show yeah well let me ask you this I guess it's a broader question do you think there's a shift in talk show host mentality here or or mood slightly friendlier towards gas well I think I was at when I started I was so nervous I just wanted to make things happen and sometimes he gets he did become over active and sometimes it can kind of rub people the wrong way sometimes the gas would not know who I was when the show first started like it no respect for me whatsoever and so does the audience didn't really know who I was and so that's a cushion that you can rest on now because the audience obviously when they come to see the show they have an idea at least of of who I am and the guests have the mentality used to be you're probably not gonna be here in three months so I'm not as early I don't really need to dig in and and please use so that created sometimes uncomfortable situations and I think just the just being on for a certain period of time makes all that better and smooths it out that's interesting though because I feel like your cynicism you were like projecting the sentence has some of the hot here yes on to myself yes good that way I think I was probably true over SO Eurobarometer their.

"Wealth strategies. Highs, the sponsor of our guest this week on the Tim Kernan show, ladies and gentlemen, Brian McKenna. Brian, thanks so much for coming in and, and sitting here and hanging out man. Thank you for inviting me. And thank you for this morning. I gotta tell you, first of all last night with the blues the greatest deal. You're I mean you're there there guys in the media who are who are fans because it's the job and then the guy's become fans because it's hard not to become fans once you around hockey players because they're the best by far the Beth, but then there are guys. And I think of you, I think of my clayborn, I think, Randy character would fall into this category, and probably leaving some people out on intentionally and I'm not trying to, but who have lived in died with the blues before it was in style, and you're one of the guys just concerned with little my older brothers from a family of ten seven boys and my brother. My brother Bill got got us into hockey. We used to place a stick hockey in between periods downstairs. My dad would come down every fucking hit each other. Shea what's there's room for give us five minutes, and you're could come out and watch the next period. But I had a Barkley plager- jersey. My twin brother Kevin had his Bob plager- jersey. And I'm trying to think who was Dan Kelly. I guess are who was calling the TV gangs back then. Yeah. Who was calling TV games? Dan kelly. He was radio, the radio, you're right. I can't even Joe buck on the show this morning. He was a people don't realize it. But my dad called games. The first one I think he was. I think he was. And then I if we had Dan beard or from the podcast, and I feel like he called is people don't realize it, but I didn't J senior also. Yes, he did. Yeah. I mean, all the all these people were involved with the police broadcast from that seventy sports department came wax, which is like, you know, the Paul department of all time. But yeah, I mean there's these names were socio with it. And so it's a part of your your I just love, like I don't I never really get vet nervous during sporting events. Nine no not. Really? But you have a lot of times, you have money on the line. I well I bet on the sharks night. That's how I handle it. We know is really perverse. But that's how it's like okay if the blues lose at least I'll win some money. But last night, it got to a point where I'm like, even if they even if I if the sharks win, there's not enough money that's going to make it worth it. You know, I'm betting something that's really irresponsible kind of you weren't feeling bad. No. I couldn't be hap-. No. And then my dad, I use it online site. My dad comes over to pick us up and he's always. Is saying it's like it'll be Christmas morning, and they'll have like he'll say, I got the over on this one, it's like the blocks in the T wolves, and I go, what are you doing? You couldn't name. You don't even know who LeBron James is much less. Kidder wolves. And it's it's Christmas morning and you're cheering for points tending. I got five dollars and someone has to be a code for five hundred bucks and we probably need intervention. And then so last night. He comes over and we're about to head down to the enterprise centre. He goes, hey, could you switch over to my account, and I'm like, oh, this is the moment where I'm going to see, like he's minus thirty thousand there. Talking. He goes, I'm going to put some money on the over I go here, but that means you're going to be pulling for the sharks to score goals. Just bet on either the sharks, if you like the blues, but in the blues and I'm gonna I gotta go you overnight. Okay. What do you want me to bet God, this is going to be be it, and I have to call my mom and say, Dan, got a problem? And he goes, let's go five dollars, and I go like as an five dollars, he goes five, and then I see the account, it's minus thirty dollars. He's really been putting five dollars all of this time screaming at the TV now. That's the thrill of them. I guess real for him. So I'm betting it because which is really stupid. I mean, the blues keep winning, which is it keeps costing me money. But I couldn't be happier. Right. But that's how I handle it. So, I would I would think you watching it. I would think you'd be a nervous wreck. I'm not I'm nervous. But. It's kind of weird, but this, this cancer should have had for the last couple of years changed everything. Yeah. I guess that gives you a little different perspective on this. It's like, hey I love the blues, but if it if it doesn't work out. Think about how fantastic, this is for Layla now, if they don't win she's going to be heartbroken. But just stupid stuff like that. You just, you know, you, you really value everyday the the previous day. So that's the thing. I really wanted to get it. I wanted to get into your career get excitement or growing up in watching you on I it was probably wasn't charter then. I don't even know what the Cato local origination. Is that what he would Pete Parisi with worldwide magazine was all that was public ex up? No. We have had commercial from release your one to me, the castled Anheuser Busch. Thank you. Mark lamping. Oh, my, that's my brother. We sold high five Jerry absolutely sold hooters because the general Cao hooters, the general manager happened to hear me on radio and who they're with concord sports cards and concord plaza Fisher, I knew Dave the owner. He you know, he gave me give me a couple of hundred dollars, absolutely. Oh. And the president casino the president. Now. Keep in mind. My oldest brother was a state, Senator then. So they were looking at me going. Yeah. We really just they're calling. What can we do down in just how much is it worth giving this kid the money you know what I mean? So your show, though, was like I don't even know how to just kind of reminded me, the set up was kind of like a late night talk show set. Wasn't it yet? The in did you have guests? But euro pining, what was going on, on the show started? We started no, what I remember. Okay. Let me think. Yes. Yes, I did. And I'm trying to remember if I've interning at ks then or not. I can't remember which one was that thirteen? Yes, there was rich gray random gray. He got God bless his soul. Let's see clayborn was on there Jennings. Right. Giannis was there Howard balder Ramsey. Rick wallace. The Colonel rainy Hugh did some weekends talk about a hockey nut. Randy Hugh, Mark is man. Oh, yeah. And so, yeah, I started. I started John euros that was early nineties. Yeah. Somewhere right around there. And it was, you know, it was just a, a total fuck around show. I had a little death. I don't even aware I bought it. I'd probably bought it dollar store or something, and some weeks, I'd have my friends on and it just developed a hockey Kalt because my brother was doing videography, and we would go to practices. And we were getting tons and tons of shots in interviews, even it was only like six minutes with Brett hall hall chase Shanahan all took us under their took my brother nine hundred under their wings and it. Became his hockey culture. So it was really weird because there wasn't there wasn't anything around the cardinals. Weren't very good. And there was no NFL football and on top of it, you happen to have some incredible talent with great personalities. You know it's not just talent, but personnel keep in mind there wasn't I mean, I think ESPN was I mean, they were going, then but they weren't you know what they are today. Don't think much of the league that along. Jimmy start on these Stephen a Smith shows and Shannon short show. Go ahead fire here. Here's what I do because I think the most a phony motherfuckers on the face it here. You know they sit in a room and it's all premeditated. So here's what you're gonna do. Now here's the problem, though. They like me because I watch at once in a while because I want to yell at them, and I find myself, walk around doing Shannon Sharpe going skip skip. Let me tell you skip. And then I'm like like that impression single guy sitting around trying to imitate this fuck head Shannon Sharpe, who just and skip Bayless is the worst. I can't stand that guy. I can't believe that it works. I tried it because through it works in the sense that they're filling time for low cost, even though they're paying those guys, a hell of a lot of money, relative to sports television, expenditures for rights. Okay. And so that's why it works and by works. I mean it fills the program they're able to sell the advertising, but I. Can't believe because if you want to spend money like a real sports caliber show, it costs so much money to travel, and higher the reporters and producers that pay for a studio, you, pay skip, whatever he's making like eight million a year. How much do you? How much do you making ten million and just to have like you said, choreographed takes I couldn't be that phony? I you always when you were doing sports talk radio, you always say what you thought I personally respect the game. Game man. Because kind of the game, you know, your loyalty, and this is why you know, your advertisers, love you is because, you know, you don't just endorse products. You know there's a lot of guys who just doubt. I'm sure the salesperson comes in everybody solutions all my gosh. That's, that's what they'll anytime. Somebody asks me if you're just and I said, no I can't because we got into a spot here with an account within the last few years. And I found out some things that I was uncomfortable. I said, I can't I can't not bots anymore because I think of body solutions and you're a guy who keeps yourself in shape, and I'm sure like, oh, if you don't eat for four hours before bed, you're gonna lose weight. That's not really a whatever the hell that thing like a drink, or something, you drink late at night, and basically, what it is don't. It won't take this, right. Fill the bubble had bleeding comes in two sales chicken. She was like I got a great account for you and I needed the money. Then trust me, it was dollars a month. That's a nice there. And I, I can't do it. Can't you said why? And I said, well, first off, you're not really need of losing. He's gonna say, fitness free, I need to gain weight, and I just can't do it and she was so pissed off my boss called me. And he's like dude, the station needs the Mayan. I said, I can't do it go find. You know, the fat guy over there, usually them potpourri of guys in our building, our business turn out. So last night, I watched it by myself. Now. I'm not watch it. I watch. Because you're nervous or is that because it was because we can watch a big game by myself. Okay. It's very odd Super Bowl. I am home alone. I go to Pueblo, so at five o'clock because I can't stand the pre-game show. So I don't turn the TV on until five I call them, my order Pueblo Sali's at five I go to Tom Margaritas some chicken fajitas, and I am home to hear the national anthem. I like that. I like I like that, and I'm not texting with anybody. It's I wanna watch the Super Bowl with hockey. It is a little different because I've been watching the games with a group of people, and it is fun. It's really fun. But I was sick yesterday from, like I said, this is a great day from the blues would have lost. I would have been okay 'cause I'm taking my last chemo pill today. This is the fourth time I've gone through an eight week pill treatment program for four time in the last sixteen months. Oli so shit tonight. I.

Fifty five percent of people correctly said it was unacceptable to play Christmas music before thanksgiving who was the guy on big brother that loved Christmas music year round. Do you remember that? I don't. What was that guy's you? How do you not remember this don't recall this was it this past season? No, it was a few seasons back, but he loved Christmas and love Christmas music. I loved the girl Christmas that was on there. Came out not her. She beat up a boyfriend or something we beat up the boyfriends new the old boyfriends girl, new girlfriend, wasn't it like that. It's not a good idea. Twelve percent of people say it's acceptable to play Christmas music before Halloween. It isn't thirty three percent of our people are like before thanksgiving. The poll asked about the suddenly offensive baby. It's cold outside song as well. People do not want it banned. Only ten percent of people say it should go away and believe it or not everyone agrees twelve only twelve percent of women want it gone. Just ten percent of men do only twelve percent of Republicans want to ban it and eleven percent of Democrats. Everybody else is like now songs fine. Don't worry about it. All right. So. I'm going to do. This people pit bull story or pit ball. I believe this is on the aquaman soundtrack. All right. Apparently. The new thing to do is cover songs by TOTO. "Way to, the end of this race and again. This has been the kind. Of year it's been for kids Laskey they've had passed cars Penske and they just can't find a, way to close male except of course Joey Logano with. The lone win their surprises for me this year. Heaven been the teams that have won it's been the teams. That have won talking about Hendrick motorsports are we at a point in the season that we could be looking? At Hendrick motorsports going without a win how many wins will have Joey Logano gave Them a win at Talladega outside of that it's a zero, to, me that's his biggest, story as the success that Stewart Haas and gifts and furniture row of hats and again. When you. Have, three guys went fourteen out of nineteen that. Really doesn't leave a whole lot even. Scraps at the table I mean you're working on crumbs for everybody, else everybody else is going hungry right now while those three teams have been pretty well fed. Right now Eric album Arolla winless this year Kirk Bush riding in. Second those two teams have yet to scratch a, win if one of them could hold on and get a victory here today they punch their. Ticket to, the playoffs and the for those positions. Behind them gets a little. Bit more fierce chase Elliott's had a nice run today if you're just joining us he won stage, number two and right now he writes in fourth easily. The highest running Chevrolet Ryan Newman Evan quietly good. Day back to ninth and Jimmy Johnson and ten yeah Newman. May have some company Jimmy starting to close in on him just a bit but Newman's one of these guys? Doug that is so far behind in the Points that. He's got to get a win it looks like in the remaining regular season races otherwise he will not make the playoffs as he did in two thousand seventeen Eric Merola now in. Command of this race is he got. Around perk Bush and trying, to just put cars a. Lap down that's the mission he's only got, around Jamie McMurray the, next guy, that he, will put a lap down east catching right now and.
