"I thought she kind of had a bigger career. But I guess not. I think it is an absolutely original film. Yeah. For this yawn or particularly. Yeah. And I think that I don't know. Maybe I'm just too caught up on. Maybe I have to rewatch it yet another time and not look at it as a horror film, but sort of as this strange caper. Yeah. Movie put at the point in my life and in west Craven's career when this film came out. I was absolutely incapable of seeing him in any way. Right. Besides a horror creator, the movie was marketed that way, and it has since not been there has been no revisionist history with it. You know, it has not been ret conned in any way to to say like, actually, this really isn't a horror film. It's actually more of a strange through thriller, or whatever. And like I said like you said they make that reveal of they're not monsters down there. Yeah. So early the kid is one of the mcpaul's kid with no tongue. He is. Yeah. Is that is that the guy from? Is that the cow the other not the one on Westworld? Not Jimmy Simpson is the other MC Poile. Okay. No shit realize that. I would have been more scared to have them in polls down there. Yeah. It's I think clearly to me the fact that that reveal happens so early in the movie and takes a lot of the threat out means to me Wes craven wanted to say. Something more that he wanted to scare also there's like some comedy in it. That's a little awkward a lot of like kind of post home alone. Trat when he sends the dog down and stuff because it was a year after home alone. Yeah. There's a lot of Ving Raines is scared of the dog bit rut, I felt like this was not intended to be super scary. Even though I've always heard it described by friends as being terrifying. Now, it's not and times change. But I I liked it. I went back and watch the Ebert and Cisco neighbor review of it, which you can find almost any old movie review on YouTube by Cisco neighbor and Ebert loved it. Cisco kinda was a little down on it. But I thought, you know, for instance, I would've liked to have seen a rogue monster in the basement, maybe one of them is evil. Sure, you've got one that's helping them and being nice to them. Right. Have an evil one that poses a threat because that's the thing. Once the people are out of the once the husband and wife out of the house, which they are frequently. Yeah, there's no threat. Yeah. They're just in a pick. And by the way, there's no real threat if they're in the house, it's like it's like get it gun. Go downstairs kill them in. We've in nobody'll know what the fuck happened here. Right. So I, you know, I it's kind of I would've liked to have. And I was like, okay. If you're not gonna go that route. I would've liked to have seen a more gruesome ending for the husband and wife, I thought because I didn't really remember what happened at the end. I thought for certain one of them would be eaten alive by these cannibal people in the basement, I never happens. Now, you know, and it's just not a lot of big good scares. And when it's a kid in jeopardy and kind of a wise cracking kid boot, it did have more of a home alone feel honestly, but. Tarintino a big fan of people under the stairs casting Rams and Pulp Fiction of years later and also that game costume, which seemed a little familiar now after that first season of American horror story and Pulp Fiction, and it's cetera. I imagine that was a lot more disturbing in nineteen Ninety-one..

"I also like jimmy simpson i think they put him up for supporting if i'm not mistaken but a really him yeah wow well all the same yeah he was in supporting category if he were snubbed in the guest category of four jimmy simpson i would be pitching a fit but he was in a different category still that i'm bugged about but not as badly as if they had picked jimmy simpson over him so yeah that that seems entirely reasonable alright any like maybe to wrap it up whoever you're rooting for hard now like maybe someone who you didn't think that you cared about winning an emmy but now you do like what you're rooting interest is we i guess we have about two months before the actual words i mean okay i'm gonna like cheat and give you a different it's it's just just i really know like full all aboard the nicosia waldo emmy express like this is this is a passion project for me now i think that's totally right answer well but it's not like unexpected sound like oh i didn't think i'd be rooting for him like i'm always reading for you but yeah and then i guess an unexpected one i mean i guess i didn't even think about darren criss before this not that i didn't think he would get nominated but i guess i didn't even think about him being like necessarily the front runners category if feels like you kind of is and i would be really excited about that i don't know i was considering for another podcast i do trying to consider like the best tv of two thousand eighteen so far and what happens to me a lot is like the shows that i do podcasts about wind up being the shows that i care the most about because shows that i like have really really dug into and so for sachi's made my list because richard and i spent so much time talking about it and it's really great and so like i just i feel i feel momentum behind her saatchi in a way that i wouldn't if it were just another ryan murphy thing that i had watched sort of on my own and so yeah i think for that reason throwing throwing my chips on on darren as well how about you richard buzzing a good one you know i guess we should just continue on with like podcast joanna and i have done but like i'm i'm brooding jeffrey right for westworld like i i'm looking at the other people he's nominated within that category some have won before some kind of don't need the wind but jeffey rate is such a workhorse he's been such a you know solid actor for so many years and he's great on westworld kind of the heart of the show so i think that that would be a good win for that show which i feel like a lot of the categories it's nominated in it's not likely to win yeah i feel like if it was going to win one maybe that that this would be a good one i mean obviously to newton to but like i think she was before so i think of an pull really hard for bill hader specifically i like burying lot but i think he is so good on it and in the lead actor in a comedy category it's a i mean tunnel clever is like having such years we've talked about like obviously i love to dance and the good place but i dunno i it's it feels possible bill haters just been in the industry for so long i think that he that's me where i lay chips and i think they like to reward multi finance rate and so because yeah billion did more than just act on the show i mean that's why one of the reasons why donald glover has won so often in the past right because of all of the creative input he doesn't atlanta ditto like he's sorry that so i could see it going that way for him but i could also see dog lover just sort of neutralizing that that advantage that he has but i do love bill hader and you know along with like what if he had keenan thompson both one i don't know i know s track record of actors winning like in regular categories is pretty thin so it seems like it would be challenging for keenan to win but i mean as we said like he's been such a value.

"That is probably hundreds of years away and you see in the opening scene sorry to cut you off they do show the symbol flashing through he has the book open on the bed and it does have the symbol so maybe there's some type of code that's like in the brain or maybe they just keep making like in that lab you see that they make just copies of the brains over and over and over and then making clones and then just putting i i don't know i don't know i mean the only thing was like william said you know the brain is like denying the the body is like denying the brain so that's what i think that's a clone getting the human brain put into it i don't know i it's very interesting concept the most interesting aspect of this conversation was the fact that william in the three different meetings you can see his development over the course of thirty years in what a span of fifteen to twenty minutes you could see how he started out as this young optimistic man at this project can work by the time he's at harris's character he's regretting the entire thing you could see that to your point that he visits the park to get a thrill that he might even have a death wish to him maybe that's why he went back to the park was because he says that the world is going to be better off without james de las and himself i love to how they made this is the first time i saw ed harris in the last meeting i'm like oh that kind of actually looks like jimmy simpson and i love that because we always arguing like god look nothing alike yeah they even and then i think the second meeting when we see jimmy simpson william he kind of he's kind of acting a little bit more like the man in black so i like that kind of fills the gap yeah but that last meeting was great i mean it it does look like he's kind of regretting what he did and he looks very just uninterested to whereas i william is like very interested as a guy i think we're very close and then at the nfl he's kind of sarcastic go early a couple years away i think he was just saying that because that's what he's been saying this whole time.

"I i i do want to say that the jimmy simpson the other act that guy i gallon love love working within east so talented guy can do the best comedy if you've ever seen and then going by like this creepy creepy guy and as always agree i um and and robin wright was a director of of this episode in you' she's a dream to work with she's she's what you call a real actors directors she gets in this this scene in particular i mean i just i loved i loved filming and it was just such a blast so then dug calls sath using the emergency burner right says he needs to see frank because his mother died his nom died this is code francis knows it like you said he later in episode i think it's an episode he says i know his mother died ten years ago i was at the funeral home so he knows that i have to talk to him immediately because i i don't know that i came entrust set because i've said that the south before in the previous absurd i said i need to talk to him it's an emergency and i don't get anything but i know that if i say this that that's that's going to get me in the door and land declares that other heavy symbolism here which is he say in some ways rachel was this kind of love and mother are there's a flashback where she reading the bible now and gavin mentions tale of two cities which she also read to you right which was what i my mother used to read stampers mother used to read to him which is really interesting and honored taejin a whole another worm all of mattis in his mind okay so doug has now totally fallen off the wagon no more drinking from a sore the way how did you feel when you saw that in this if the first time here or i i i of course went to bona's i i don't i don't know if i i get it which is one of the only thing that ever say to them when i have a question i mean which he then explains.
