139 - A Hundred Feelings
Hi, welcome to the cheese. You're on adventure fat. Cast my favorite murder. This is a true crime, comedy podcasts that you tune into week after week to find a good time. Could feelings fun friendship. That's what we're here for. Yes, yeah, that's what's happening that's happening. What's going on with you? Well, I guess I should start off with a humongous correction corner. Haven't had one in a while. I've this corner is so big that I actually had to start it during the Minnie's owed that has come out, its that important. It's that big. It's going to change a lot of the policies around here. I made a terrible mistake during Georgia's murder. The last time we recorded in house, not the live show from Vegas last week, but the week before dirty was talking about British pedophile. I'm not sure what was happening, but she was trying to think of the name someone and I jumped in knowing full well what the name was. And I said, the name of British pedophile a famous bitter. Was Jimmy Somerville that is not correct. You got the name I was looking for and I said, okay, and we moved on. You know, the only wrong part was that there was about five letters to many in the middle of that name. So close Jimmy Savile is the terrible of BBC presenter, maybe not even BBC presenter who was also a horrifying pedophile Jimmy Somerville. On the other hand, was the lead singer in the Bronx key commun- arts in Bronx give. There's no the front LeBron's QB and he is eight incredibly talented musician and biolo- council, wonderful human being all hundreds and hundreds of accounts that people tweeted at a train account, tweeted accounts of the British. They caught caught wind very quickly of a correction corner that had to happen. So my apologies to the Somerville, family and estate. To both Braun skied and the communists I apologize. It was a terrible mistake and in the future, Steven, if we're having a conversation about now, I don't wanna blame Stephen, but I'm going to if we're having a conversation about pedophile 's will you please double check any name? Icee I guess when we guessing name of someone who is a terrible human being and it's not like written down on a piece of paper's, go ahead and throw it in Google. Got the red pen underlying, throw it at us, throw the red penatta say, stop improvising crime fact. Yeah, it's important. Yeah, I was positive when I said Jimmy Somerville that I was right. It was positive. By the way. You said Jimmy Somerville that you were right. You know why? Because I had a ABC's side of communist single in college. Where Jimmy Somerville sings Zing went the strings of my heart so beautifully. I used to play it over and over in my dorm room, my short lived dorm. And I just felt such a connection that I wanted to call him a pedophile, even even waiting the yell out his name in with joy for so long. Finally opportunity. It was just my chance that was chance took it. It was just happen to not be the right moment. It was. It happened to be the worst chance. Yes, that I could it happen to just ruined everybody yelling his name out again. And your life or any name really. Here's a fun thing to talk about. We still have lots of subgroups that are unsung an unheralded. So in case you have interests that are aside from just this true crime podcast, there other subgroups that you could join. We'll just name a couple for you right now. You're in a Colt call. Your corgi is one. Parsley, sage, Rosemary, and crime. I don't know if that's I am hoping that's like a food cooking one. Is that what it is? I love it. That's amazing. There's drag arenas which is MFM meets repulsed, drag race. That's pretty awesome. That's good. There's queer eye for them rotary. No, and I have course of szeswith, Jonathan, Jonathan van s from queer eye. So I love that. That's a good crossover. Of course, there's the book. What if something bad happens, anxiety support group who doesn't need that. Not me. I'm good. I'm all good. My favorite cucumber. What on earth could that be? Is that like Egan's? Oh, it's just cucumbers. Even are you joining these. It was just the description. It just said cucumbers and just love cucumbers of any sort. We were actually watching videos the other day at work of member. They got popular for a little while the videos where you put a cucumber behind a cat. And then when it turns around and sees it, it just jump straight up in the air. Well, turns out I'm the only one at work that thinks that's funny and everybody else was bummed out that they were. It was mean to cats plea like, but it's it's their instincts. They can't control. They think it's a snake and that makes their feet shoot them directly into the air snake. I think they think it's a snake who have been Anna's to a really this can't. Now this is scared of bananas. He's terrified of now is like when your Christmas when we have Christmas tree, we, we surrounded with bananas because otherwise he'll go Christmas tree, wow, he'll stay away. So like bananas are new Christmas decoration. I wonder if he thinks that's like a really poisonous. Snake from the inner jungle. The smell of it is like really, really repulsive to him somehow. Maybe it smells poisoning. I don't know. It's just personal preference at cat. There's not a lot of explaining to do when it comes to cats ways to figure it out. Now here comes, but here comes a tweet a boat cat banana ready explains that explained to me, I know. And then of course, there's murdering beauty basket lotions which is just like, let's let's fun way we could say something. Let's make that into a group. I like it. I mean, because that could be it could be about beauty and keeping moisturizer and loving silence of the lambs. Xactly. There's so many look, we all are so complex. Yeah, we can contain multiple. We have we like to things not just one thing I have listened. This is a little bit off topic, but I listened to a podcast this week that upset me so much. Have you listened to Dr death? Oh, no, everyone loves it. Okay. It only everything. This isn't even a recommendation because it's huge. It's like every time I open my podcast app, it's the thing that's on yards like if it were like you should try the podcast cereal. Fucking knows it, but it's so good. It's from one, it's really well made. It's very journalistic and but it is about, I never knew that I had any kind of fear or phobia about botched surgery, and it's about a spinal surgeon who botches surgery after surgery, and it is about these two, these two other their neurosurgeon. Because when you were fine who go after him because he they keep getting called into fix his ship. Wish in it is I listened to. I was like, Georgia, I binged like three episodes and then realize I was literally holding onto the kitchen table because you're just standing there listening to a podcast and sweating and like freaking out thing. How does this keep that when we murder stories like that, I just can't yet handle. It. It's like, why doesn't someone stop this person from doing all these things and the scary thing. So I would say this to if you're gonna listen to Dr death, make sure you don't have claustrophobia issues like fear of surgery. Do not listen to this podcast makes your about to get surgery. Yeah. If you're getting spinal surgery the next day, don't try to sleep. No listening to the John don't fall asleep to this like trillions warning. But if you, if all that is clear for you is the best. I mean, I have this story and these doctors that are in it. It's time. It's like old fucking two thousand. I want us to be like the eighties taking. Yeah, they fucked up shit like that all the time. Exactly what we recorded with Chris Fairbanks yesterday, do you need a ride? And that's exactly what Chris said. I, he said, wanted it up, and I said the two now and he was, I needed it to be the eighty. Yeah, I need it to be like, well, they fucked up in the eighties looking, but here's the thing, and this is kind of what's compelling about it. It's about how when the the healthcare system is four. Off it. Right, and everybody's worried about making money and getting sued all anyone cares about how much it sucks the patient and it's like the red and it's like the red tape that's there so that you can't just call out some other key FOX, everything up there for the good. But then when it's when it's, it can't be used to get someone who should not be fucking doing these things at a town. That's exactly right. That's that's what they talk about is no hospital would quote unquote fire this because then he could turn around and sue for wrongful termination and for ruining their career. So he just keeps getting let go and given like we think you're great letters and he gets keeps getting sent to worse and worse. Where people can't fight where there's no money to fight doctors like. All right, and it is like it is a scary as any serial killer story we've ever told us. It's fucking so intense. I was sweating like through my Scher, whereas like I'm so unhappy and uncomfortable and I'm like, oh yeah. This podcast is freaking the shit out. Listen to it right now. I'm going to put I want to. I don't know if I can. Do you need a more an uplifting? Yes, sir. Good uplifting land. You have. Jonathan Venice is getting curious. He's just such a lovely man. He's amazing God. I love for such a good host. Yeah, and like truly curious, I mean, it's called getting curious by truly just sounds like he has his curiosity and its have at the podcast. Everything is alive where this person interviews people, interviews, objects as if they're people like a bar of soap. When I listened to recently that I was like, oh, put this on my laying in bed and I was laughing so hard. I couldn't fall asleep so I had turned. Off that shit. What else do you have. Oh, I listen to Dave Chang's podcast. He is the amazing shifts from. Also is the host of ugly, delicious and a bunch of stuff. He has a podcast now and he interviews his friends because he wants to talk about from what I can gather. I've listened to, but he likes talking about people who are successful, kind of in the face of adversity or like that. No one believes in, it's kind of like an underdog. How did you get? How did you get to where you got type apart counties and he's such a good interviewee. He's such a like passionate person. I really liked that guy hanging his career so far. He is it's crazy, really? So admire, admirable, admirable admirable. Not in my goal. He also is admire -able. Oh, wait. There's one more, but it's not light. Good. I don't like love light. Okay. Eight is the comprehensive story. It CBC's uncover escaping Nexium and love the thing. The host guy runs into a girl. He went to high school with no in a park, and she goes, he goes, what have you been up to? She was, I just escaped a Colt. So he then the whole thing is hit. He already had this relationship with her. He's known her since she was a teenager and she tells the story of how she got involved in Nexium, Holly that that actress from smallville just got arrested and is being like there's charges against her for like sex trafficking and all this crazy shit like branded themselves and shit too they, they were branded and she has a brand on her. This girl it is explaining to me. Listen the podcast how they got branded and how they did it with a laser minor. Yeah, not like something normal. Like a fucking safety pin. We will not all one. Once rand where it hurts once and then you're done. Yeah, it took half an hour could smell the plush burden. Yes, and it's huge and three. You have to listen to it because it's one thing for people to tell you about that, but this is a person from the inside being like, and then and then this. And then that end the whole thing is based on like pyramid skates on the on. The salesmanship thing. So it starts out, it's like, don't you want to improve your life and your career, which of course everyone does, and that's normal. And then they basically blend you into suddenly you're, you're a slave and the person. Your mentor is uniquely Gaster people to come to come to the Colton, join it. If you get five Paramount's, you win, you win in the pyramid rise the pyramid game. Yeah, exactly. It's so intense. It's really another one that's really well done. Okay. I'll about that one I can deal with. Yeah, that one is, and she's, she got out and her husband got out. The family was in and it was crazy sex. Panetta's Melissa. That. Those ones are. There's been a lot of good stuff lately. Yeah. Anything else right now, I've just been back at work so I don't. I just have been a little bit. I listen to things on the way to and from work. Yeah, and that's about it. Well, we have one more episode left of a fuck in the sinner. That's eight. This Apas last sees episode was SOGA. It was so good kid. The actor so good. I love him a little boy, Julian Julian. And of course Carrie Coon carry my God who've started following us on Facebook on where we Twitter on Twitter, heard her coal assistant his like. She doesn't. Time every TV show every show. She hasn't looked to Twitter, she's killing. She's like Michelle, my assistant whose cool do stuff on Twitter, right? You're naming her says Michelle, okay. Yeah, there was that was such a natural piece of dialogue that I thought you had an assistant, Michelle. Michelle is DVR in Kerry coons TV show for me. No, I love it. It's so good. I know I'm that's one. I'm going to be sad when it's over to. They'll be another season though. Yeah, I hope so. And I figured out we were looking at up. I think it works. We were talking about it. One of the guys that directs the center was a producer on that independent movie Martha MARCY may Marlene, which was is Elizabeth. Oh, thank you. Steven Olson. Elizabeth Olsen. The child. Oh, no, no, no, no. The great actress. Elizabeth Olsen who in that independent movie is herself in a Colt and gets out it's one of the best movies if you haven't seen that on haven't. It is so fucking Marymount. Moxley Martha, MARCY may Marlene. Okay. Is the name of the movie? And it's similar in terms of the look and the feel the center. And so I just love when things connect. Like I like this and I Don made that. Yeah, that's fun. Yeah, I that threat up is the world's largest online consignment thrift store with up to ninety percent off estimated retail price right up his perfect. This is one of those murders that nine normally wouldn't have even probably look twice, but it's in so many of those weird small town murder lists every time. You see one of those lists this murder comes up in it. Okay. So I just thought so anytime soon I was finding like, okay, I'm gonna look into this a little bit and it's it's weird for sure. And also like kinda, it's deviates. So this is the Kuhn's family murders soon family. Hey, you Enzi. This is it's takes place in a small town, Wisconsin, and it's on every one of those small town murders. You haven't heard about that in rock the small town, and you also have unheard of the small town. Okay. You know what I mean? Is it Wisconsin? Remember when we drove, we were separate, but we drove from like somewhere to somewhere else in Wisconsin. Or the Madison show? Probably maybe I was with Michelle balloon invincible together, and we stopped, didn't. We stop at. At that big barn, the Ozark land made that was the way home. Okay. But anyway, I've just immediately my mind is like when you're in in like small towns, kansin your far away from thing. Yeah, and people and this is this, this is here. Okay, so I got a lot of information from this website called mysterious heartland dot com. And it's an article written by Scott Wittman. And I think I've used as website a few times because it's kind of like you can't find a lot of details about these murders. It's like number ten on this list. So you don't just two paragraphs with this actually a long article. And then there's a couple of really good comments that like list theories and shit too. Okay. So it's cool that small town gossip do. I mean, that's way to fill in any story. It's all true. It's all true. You know. So this is a town called Athens in. It's it's a quaint rule town in north central Wisconsin, and the population is a little under a thousand people show. It's fucking small yet, for sure. It's like a post office a post office. It's less than two and a half square miles in size. That's fucking it. The little town where the post offices at teenagers drive around the outside of town every Friday night right doughnuts in field cow tipping. I don't know how tipping teenagers over. Yeah, count cars over, you know mayhem. It's got that small town atmosphere. There's a course a close sense of community, which is why on the night of the fourth of July nineteen eighty-seven, the whole town of under thousand people. Shocked when five members of the family are all murdered all shot in the head and their home with a twenty two caliber rifle fucking execution style. Just like, wait, what. Shit like that doesn't happen here. So the Kuntz's I'll tell you about them their reclusive. The super reclusive kind of like the town like these are the this is that we are town. Don't go to their house. People like we're in creepy. They live together in a dilapidated old farmhouse in the outskirts of Athens on one hundred eight acre farm and the families made up of four elderly siblings who live in this farmhouse Iran is eighty one, Clarence seventy six, Maria seventy two. And the youngest sibling is Helen who seventy. They all live together in this dilapidated, farmhouse brothers and sisters in their eighties and seventies it just you just took it into creep zone five. Well, okay, so there's this episode of that was only aired once of x. files that they everyone says it's based on the Stanley and it's creepy and weird and they took it and it's like it's not creepy in like alien ways. It's creepy in like what? Yes, it's called. Home is Jack locking it. You remember sees the one where the boys are playing baseball and they step on something and blood comes out of the ground. It's that's episode Giovanni, Ribisi where there's like lightning at home yet. I just got chills. And you mentioned. Skar. Let me read the description of it. Do you remember? It's because it's really hard to find you can't. It's hard to find online. They soon as air. It's got so many complaints because it was so creepy. What took down? Was there something under a dresser? There was like the mom under the? Yes. Okay. Okay. Let me read you the description of I couldn't even find it. I wanted to watch it and I couldn't find home as a second episode of the fourth season of the x files, blah blah, blah, blah, blah at aired. In nineteen ninety six. It's a monster of the week story. A standalone plot, unconnected. The initial broadcast. It was the only first of the x. mouse to receive a viewer discretion warning graphic content and the only carried a TV m. a. rating. So yeah, it's just essentially just a creepy family story, but it's not excelled similar, but it's not. It wasn't apparently based on this story. Okay, but everyone thinks of his. So the four elderly siblings live there, and they also live there with Helen, who's the youngest sibling hurt two adult sons. Okay. Randy's thirty and he lives in the farmhouse with his aunts and uncles, uncle and mom. And then Kenneth is fifty five. He lives on a trailer on the property. He's like, I'm not fucking staying with these people. So their ramshackle firm house has no running water and no indoor plumbing at all, where they all live together. They use an outhouse and all the food is cooked on an old wood-burning stove, which also is used to heat the house is in the eighties. Okay. The family keeps to themselves. They don't. They don't party with her friends and shit, and they don't party. Fuck them. Don't like to hang and party, and you know, have socials and Tupperware parties and go to fish rise in your town. Mega hot dish shot it, you know, and they're not hoarders, which includes a large collection of pornography. They're like, super, and I hate to Ilna dead because I'm not like they were gross in this and that it's like these rumors and they were confirmed to be true once the family died and they went through the house not common though to have family collections of pornography. Yes. Different than the usual. Yeah, because it's like everyone like something else. It's how you agree on what movie to watch. Right. You know it's hard enough to just with a standard movie, right? Shin drama, right romance, horn porn. So the fan, they have a huge collection of porn, including mail order VHS tapes because that's how you had to get porn back then. Probably specially in fucking rural, rural. Oil Wisconsin. That's right, right. And magazines and they're, but they're hoarders, so it's like everywhere and then the family would watch the tapes together. No. And then there's rumors also that there was incestuous happenings will that one would be get the other rights? One thing. That's right. I mean, you can stop now, and this is one of the croupier stories that we've ever it's, it's definitely got some things. It's also rumor and found to be the murders that there are large amounts of cash like hidden around the house. They're hidden and jurors in boxes under floorboards, and it's just like huge like like twenty grand is talked about being like found in one place, and but it's weird because there's only one member of the family, one of the sons, Kenneth who actually has a job. No one else has a job because they're fucking eighty one years old and shit. And they don't have running water, but they have all his cash everywhere. Is someone selling porn out of like a back window. A great question. You can walk by hold up a five dollar Bill, right that they don't want anyone to get that close. Do they? I don't know. Maybe that one of those grabbers from the store, we love those high shell. Tall husband. It's like, I need to make video of me trying to get something down from the fucking cover when Vince is like putting the crackers here and it's like three feet taller than me. Oh, speaking of crackers. Kenneth, who out of job worked at a cheese factory. Oh, Mike, sign me up. That sounds fun. It smells bad bet. You're right? Yeah. Okay. So none of the siblings had none of the older siblings ever married, but Helen had these two sons she had given birth to her first. Kenneth, when she was fifteen. And she said that the pregnancy was a result of their families, neighbor, dude, who's forty years old name, Frank gums, he's a convicted bootlegger and she said he raped her and she got pregnant with Kenneth who she a fifteen. Frank was tried and convicted shortly after Helen gave birth, and he was sent to prison and he died after he served eighteen months. He had denied that he had ever had sex rapes either way with Helen. Well years later, Helen gave birth to her other younger son. Randy wouldn't name who the father was. Hey, let's related. Let's talk about sleeping arrangements at the farmhouse. No, they're weird, Helen, and her youngest son slept in the same bed together and Clarence who's eighty one year old uncle dude. He sleeps in the living room with his other two sisters, island, Marie. They all sleep like it's kind of like. Willie Wonka everyone in the bed. Yeah. So it sounds like and actually looked trying to find photos of canon of the family, but I could find the farmhouse and you look at it. You're like someone told me that that was like a quaint villa in Italy. I'd be like, oh my God, some cute. But then you're like, no, no, that's like a farmhouse its apart. It's like weird. So it kind of looks almost maybe historic or something looks very old and very like quaintly, you know, dilapidated. And then it's like not quaintly date at. It's just still abdicated and there's just people spooning each other all over the inappropriate place inside. And that's not quite either. No, it isn't. You can put the word quaint in front of a lotta shit and it makes it ok does it. That's not one of them. No. Yeah. Kenneth, his like absolutely not living in the house. He lives on his own trailer. He ends up spoiler alert being the only surviving member of the family. He doesn't die in the execution. Shit. He's still alive and he later claims that his father was not the raping abor, but the his own Clarence Ono like she, that was my fucking God. He also thinks that it was his younger brother dad, too. And he also said that he had seen Helen and his uncle Clarence engaged in sexual activity when he was a kid now, like he's the one who's who's saying that there's incest stuff going on? Yeah, he would know. I wrote. It's like if the grandparents from willy Wonka moved into the psycho house. Oh no, and everyone just kinda lost their lost it. No more fun songs and pajamas staff. Nothing cute about it. Now. So the murders occurred on the fourth of July and I said, nineteen eighty-seven. The town had their big fireworks, show celebration. I don't know what to call it and then what do they call it? So it's sounds good show. Fireworks. Display show makes me think of people kind of doing like line kicks, right, which they absolutely could have been. Athens could have had the like the guy plays a Lincoln. Yup. For some reason, Abe Lincoln would be there for sure. Yeah, like fourth of July parade, the big tall labeling on their pets that have like get dressed up to town Queen yet the probably maybe the cheese factory Queen. Yeah, prints, cheese factory. Princess of Wisconsin. She's factory Athens Princess, and she rides on a rolling wheel of cheese right down the main street. She throws cheese Kurds to the audience and they're not the spectator. Yeah. The spectators who love cheese Kerr, who doesn't. This is one of the greatest holidays in this country. Go this year too. Happens, would thing we made up? Yes. Where is it. Fucking blanket. You never thing you fucking idiots with your stupid podcasts. Just believe in showed up here. In the movie, there's going to be a fourth of July parade. Absolutely. Giant. Abe Lincoln will be there and will be there writing it. So Helen and her younger son. Randy had been last seen leaving this parade. Bray. Fourth of July show, yes. Okay. Corroborated that they were last seen leaving this made up thing. And sorry, it's the youngest son and the youngest son and the mother? Yup. And so they'll laugh seeing leaving that, okay. So sometime that night after they get home from the parade, an essay, someone broke into their decrepit home and shoots the family execution style. They're not discovering until the next morning when the other son. Kenneth, who has the job when he comes home at around five AM and discovers the body aunts, uncles, and brother. So Anne Marie, seventy two. She sat on the steps just going into the house, like maybe running into the house. His brother. Randy is thirty on the kitchen floor. Irene is sitting in a chair in the living room having been shot and Clarence his maybe maybe dad discovered in his bed shot. They had all been shot twice in the head with a twenty two caliber rifle and his mother Helen is fucking nowhere to be found. Yeah, and she's gone. Whereas she when I get to that part, I, you know, when I hadn't known about the story, Mike, she killed them all what's going to happen. She didn't, but listen. So. Suspicion initially falls on Kenneth, the son who found them, but police ruling out quickly because he has instant like in extremely low a. q. and he has trouble answering questions from the detectives and is painfully shy. I don't know how that would really out from murdering someone, but I'm hoping that they, they figured it out shyness shyness, just rule you out and Tyler being really stupid and shy too shy to approach anyone with a gun. Yeah, and I'm to my I q is too low to figure out how to shoot a gun. I don't know, maybe maybe the cops. It's also the thing of small town police where they're like, we know these, we know this guy. He never do it because we've seen we've known him in kind of he works at the cheese place. Yeah, he goes to, you know, he, everyone knows. It's not him. The community is shocked at the gruesome murders, of course, and they're like, we gotta find Helen, like maybe she was kidnapped and she still alive. We need to find her. They create t shirts and buttons with where's Helen on them. That. Help find her. And they bleed lead a massive search. The police search the fields force swampland on the one hundred eight acre farm of the family as well as the property and wetlands surrounding it. So I think it's just all rule shit and they're just like trying to find this body or this person. Yeah, especially FBI airplane also scans the area. Well, the Bannon shacks are inspected gardens dug up on the farm land. Neighbors are interrogated, but everyone was kind of like they kept themselves. Nobody knew them. No one was like pretty much nobody ever went to that house or was allowed in the house. You know, they were like they receive creative and reclusive. So they had no friends at all, either to speak of, but Helen's only friend was porn. Oh, I know, is a fickle. He's a fickle lady that points right. Disappearance becomes a nationwide search and over the next couple of months because they feel like finding her is going to find out what happened. That's the only way because they can't figure out why anyone wanna kill this reclusive family who had anything against them. But until residents or like speculating that she she did it or that she's on the run or she's kidnapped everyone's, of course, like trying to figure out what happened. And they do find out to that that the week before the murder, she had purchased a twenty two. She'd purchased twenty two caliber bullets which are the same type of ammo us for the murders from the local hardware store that she had had conversation with the clerk who was like four, which I guess is a question that's okay to ask. Someone's buying bullets might as well. I mean you should probably. Yeah. And she said that they were for her son, Randy who was gonna kill some blackbirds that were on the property. But speculation then comes to a halt because nine months after the night of the murders, Helen skeletal remains are found near a creek about nineteen miles from the home in Medford, Wisconsin. Just as her siblings and son. She had been shot in the head and only complicates this baffling case. But the murdering Busta Gatien then starts to focus on a twenty two year old local car thief, and like fucking like nefarious Nair do well kid named Chris Jacobs. So he's kind of this troublemaker. So of course, the cups turned to him are like two, did you do it? And they find out that he's one of the few non family members to ever interact with the coons at their home. So he had been in their home before apparently, and it makes him the prime suspect he had was there because he had purchased some old cars from the is in the recent past. And when questioned by police had no alibi for the time, what they suspect it was the time of the murders which was ten thirty, but like who knows if that's correct. He was in his car. The night of the murders in the knee, went home. His mother's like he was totally home with me. And I remember that night because he helped his mother. Give birth to calf the mother. Mother giver of the gab, but may Burt half earth. Thank you. Don't know how to say that and they lived about eight miles from the home and he's like, wasn't me. And then they found tire tracks left on the property that natch one of tyre or car that he had on his property. But he was like, yeah, I fucking fix old cars up. So there's like a ton. There's a reason that that, of course, you're going to find a tire like that. And then it comes out that the tires are pretty common under different names, but they still are like, Nope, we think it's you and they take, they arrest him and take him to trial the murders. So the prosecution's argument is that when Chris had gone to buy the car, he had noticed that there was money everywhere, even though the defense was like, well, the money was hidden everywhere, but maybe he knew was there and he told a witness that he intended against hands on it, but investigators found that twenty fucking grand in cash. Cash after the murders at the crime scene and the defense said that it was like laying out. But prosecution said it or no, wait prosecution? Maybe it was laying out. Maybe it wasn't. We don't really know. The defense has theory that Randy and his family were shot as a result of a drug deal on bad. So it was known around town that Randy, the son who was killed was dealing drugs in the area. And at the trial defense brought a witness who claims that he had purchased cocaine from Randy in the past, and it was also well, it was the area was in a drug crisis at the time as fucking every area was in the eighties at local woman testified that the night of the murder. She's going through this. She's driving through an intersection about one hundred meters, one hundred feet close to the. Close to the crime scene and the one hundred arms Lang. Bathing apps. One hundred paperclips Ueli okay. Mr. feeling one hundred blinks got it from the crime scene. So the so she's driving through intersections a rural area and so she's driving through and she sees that there's a car disa- truck parked by the side of the road facing in the area where Kenny would have had the drive up the direction he would have been coming from like after cheese factory work, if you were coming home and it looked like they were waiting to slight for car to come home, and so she sees the car going through the intersection. She looks to see who's in the car, but the car shines light in her face. So she can't see anything who's in the car or anything like that and jazz by saying, I know like new where you're like. I wonder what this is in line way. Yeah, they're like, we don't want you to know and then she's driving past the Kuhne's firm. The fucking truck turns to follow her and she's like, OSHA, but essentially passes the farm the cargoes back and sits back on the roads. Clearly there waiting to see who. Coming by. It's not just someone pulled over like making out or whatever, taking up. And the car doesn't match the description of the stick dude on trial, his car. So the defense theory is that Randy had planned to meet his suppliers that night and pay them the money that he owed them for the drugs that he had been selling and Randy the kid, the son who is dead, they, they shink that Kenny, the brother who was alive the cheese factory job who wasn't very smart that he had given a Kenny some drugs to sell it that she is factory and so that Kenny had. And then it's also known that Kenny had large amounts of cash on him that night, the night of the fourth of July, and he bought a huge amount of fireworks. And I mean, what would you do? Clearly the huge amount of cash on the absolutely Piccolo Pete's for everybody. Right? But he never set the off and then he went to a bar and bought more fireworks and like bought alcohol that night hanging out and drinking. So why does he have this huge amount of money on him? Maybe he spent the drug money that he was supposed to go give. His brother, not knowing that the brother like owed a debt to these drug dealers and drug. We're gonna fucking wait here till your brother gets home. Don't lie to us like we're gonna get this cash. And meanwhile, he's out just just binging fireworks engine fireworks and alcohol and the navy. He was like, oh shit. If I go home right now, my brother's going to know I spent all this money. I'm just going to sleep it off in the car. So he sleeps in his car that night, which is why I didn't get home till five AM. Oh, the find his family dead. Oh, no. So they think that maybe what happened was the the drug dealers were like, this is taking forever. Like, let's go, we know you have money hidden in the house. Let's go in there. They go in there. Maybe they take the Helen in the car to wait with them, like kind of hostage, right. And when they didn't show up, maybe they took Randi and his mother hostage, and and then wait at the intersection. They don't show up. They go in the house. There's maybe a fight breaks out and then the suppliers kill everyone in the house. So there's no witnesses that come back to their car. Car where the mother is hanging out, doesn't know what's going on. They drive away and they kill her and leave in this remote swamp and they kill only body there. So that's why would she not have been in the house as always this weird question know like why take the one person somewhere off campus and kill them. Right, but leave all these other bodies just out. Yeah, that's super weird. And so that's a good way to explain why she was found in a different location. Yeah, and the only one who was right? Yeah. So there's no fingerprints or footprints at the scene, which is weird because there was tire prints and Chris's car had no blood San, the guy on trials, no blood saner. Any evidence at Helena rant ever been in the car and because of all of this trial super brief and because of the circumstantial case against him, he's acquitted for lack of evidence. Good, great. Yeah, hold on. Oh, wait. There's more okay after trial, the case grows cold and the police aren't able to find more promising suspects. They're still, they still think it's this kid stoop Chris, but until that is until nine hundred ninety three, five years after the killing this dude, Chris Jacobs ex girlfriend. Stacy Weiss comes forward and she's like, oh, tell you guys this? My ex-boyfriend Jacob. Chris Jacobs admitted to shooting the family. He said he did it. Oh, you told me that she but she'd been recently caught in Minnesota as an accessory to robbery, and she had threatened when Chris rock. With her to get back at him. So she basically had this bargaining chip, okay, he told me he killed them. All right. And they're like, you're like, we'll wait like, that doesn't. That doesn't sound right. And he had already gotten acquitted from this case. So we can't try again. There's double jeopardy while they arrest him again and they're like, well, we're not arresting him and prosecuting him for the murders. It's one day before the statute of limitations runs out on kidnapping that they, they arrest him for Callan's kidnapping and take him to try out for the kidnap ill shit. One day the statute of limitations, and he's charged with her abduction in his trial. This temperate different crime. He is convicted, oh God based primarily on the same track evidence, but they had. They said it had been quote enhanced by the FBI. So somehow like looking at the tire treads closer, were they were able to match it to the tire. Time. Okay. Don't worry about it. And then after he gets he gets convicted. His ex girlfriend is never brought. Her charges are never brought up on robbery. So it's like none. So the defense said that. The defenses. Only argument in this trial is that it was Helen that killed her family, and then later date into a swamp and committed suicide. Clearly his his defense wasn't. He didn't have the money to get anybody. Good for that side. Yeah. Second trial, he has been all his money on the first one. He had like the the lawyer with Lasca in his pocket. Day on or your honor can attach you. Secret radically. Drunk lawyer, everybody drunk lawyer. He's found guilty. He receives a thirty one year sentence, and he is scheduled to be released in February of twenty twenty. So he's just been serving. I mean, like that's just like, that's it for you. Got sir. Fuck. And so he was like twenty seven want. Yeah. So he was twenty one when the murders place. Yeah, horrifying and like the whole, like all the rumor that there's all these people who were like, everyone knows it wasn't this. Everyone knows. It's like either in town like the cops were corrupt or that everyone knows it was these Ryan dealers, and it was more than one person every which sounds like if you're gonna kill four people or five people. You're gonna second. It's got any more than one person would think. Yes, be really hard to just walk through and kill everybody all say and farms like that. They all have guns shotguns very common. Yes, it's good. It's a necessary tool on a big old ranch. We'll just make sense that there's one person who's you know. Keeping everyone where they are with one gun and the other person shooting them. I mean, or like two people went released people. I mean, that's that's the theory that I think makes sense. But who knows. Okay. So that's what's going on with this guy. Chris Jacobs and it turns out looking back into the family, this tragic fucking thing that happened to them, and it's like no matter how insane incestuous they were. They ended up to be killed execution style, you know, in their own home and not have anyone really ever get brought to Justice for it sucks. And it turns out that this isn't the first time. There's a murder tragedy in the fucking coons family. So let's go way back to nineteen o five. When these siblings, these five siblings, their parents are living. The parents are named ignites and Ana, and they live with ignites mother Mary in her home in manitowoc, Wisconsin. Okay. Ants where. Murderers, right? So Anna, the wife comes home one day and finds her mother-in-law. Her husband's mother fucking dead in her bed. She had been bludgeoned to death by her by her husband's brother wove so that the son not son is sent to live also lived in the home with the family that sons live sent to fuck an insane asylum where he lives out his days alongside his other. Another brother who had already fucking been institutionalized before them murder of his mother occurred to others are hanging out and it's fucking institution. One of the brotherhood kit bludgeoned his mother today. So ignorance and Ana are like, shit, man, the sucks. They moved to marathon county, which is where I think we're Athens's. He works for a logging company. They have these children. They're raised in eighteen by twenty crudely built, log, cabin, porous, fuck. They don't go to school. The only hobby till that rely on and they stayed that way living together in a farmhouse and tell the Intel nineteen eighty-seven when they're all killed together. And that's the fucking creepy. Weird, small town, murder story of the family. No, let's all go track down the x files home. Watch it. If someone has it, please send it to us on DVD or some shit. I don't know. I'll tell you that the just the one scene I remember from that they're things that scuttle and the ground under from like under a bed to under- address people say it's very Texas. Chainsaw massacre is another one of those like the say. It's similar to this story to it's just like this weird family of people who might be inbred and it's all creepy. I lived together and there's no reason to not have electric and running letter. There's no, especially twenty grand in cash. No, it's there's something about that. That's very, like something's happening. The dynamic families happening where it's like they refuse to go to be like, we're too poor for running water. It's great that suck totally got it. You have fucking cash hidden around around. You don't have a toilet. Do you think they forgot about the money? Because there was so much porn. They would just get stranded every time they'd be like, we can get Ono look at this man, this filthy thing. Yeah. Or like we don't want electric to come out here because they'll see all our porn. There's nowhere to put the porn to. We can't move the porn to put in pipes that the hoarding hoarding situation alone is like, you can't expect normal shit from people who are orders. It's like, it sounds like untreated mental illness was the was the song this family like to sing way back in the day. And so it's it's almost like the stigma that words like keep it all in. Don't let anybody see. That's how terrible weird house holds full of no lights and no running waters start happenings right with so create one big bed in the living room and Matz it. And here's, here's younger, John Young, Karen, driving in a car and you're out of gas on guess we have to walk over to that farmhouse over there on our way to the parade, we'll we ran out of gas, we're going to be in the big show, but now we ran out of gas over there was going to get crowned if I can fucking geez factory pencil factory prints. I was fine. Only going to make it happen. Right. That was horrifying. Thank you. Good job. Anx. I mean, what we do, what we like, what we've decided to do, it's like an, it's hard to nothing of now. I will think of that story every time I drive by any house that's just off the road that looks like they might not have lights picture any celebrity with amazing hair, John Zach. Nice, good Joan. Cusack has a stylist who clued him in too sugar. Bear haired. There's no doubt right conspiracy time. Sugar hair tastes like sweet. Delicious candy made with the juice of real berries, but contains everything you need for stronger and healthier hair. It has as much vitamin as four cups of broccoli as much as one Cup of cranberries and as much vitamin b. twelve as four. Delicious. Organic sounds like a great breakfast, Ryan sugar. Bear hair fans also saw an improvement in the quality of their skin and nails over time. Thanks the nutrients packed into each gummy and it's true. My nails got so long. The other day after I started eating sugar very hair that I had. To cut them. Can you believe that will happen in one day one day I cut or the kind of results you can get from sugar behalf. So go to sugar, bear hair dot com. Slash martyr for beautiful hair and a healthier you share dot com. Slash worder sugar dot com. Slash murder by John cusak. This is my murder as I was finishing it up before it came over here. I started thinking about a time in your old apartment where I was like, has Georgia down this start, the details started coming together, but I don't think it is. We've just talked about it, maybe. No, I think there's so many stories like this. Yeah, it's very similar, but you please red flag me the second you'd think it's going to because and then what. Episodes over? No, we just talk about other stuff. I don't think it is though it's just another one of these stories who will know if I'll even remember, I mean, was just see. Let's see. This is the murder of Joan Dolly. DA w. l. e. y. start. Okay. It happens and sill Marquel -fornia nineteen Ninety-one. Don't think I did this one. Okay, because it's so mar is the northern part of the San Fernando Valley. So it's near where we are right now. I've never thought about Selma in my life, so I don't think I've done this murmur. Okay, good. I'll just keep on checking in with you. Tire time kick great. Alright, so it's Easter season nineteen Ninety-one and fifty five year old wife and mother Joan Dolly. She's working part time at the crown hallmark store in Sylmar, California. Okay. But when there were hallmarks. Hallmarks, any, whatever the occasion, they'd have a card Schalke's galore. I mean, they had like Hummel type figures they had. It was like like little glass, animals your on a little card. I love those. I let calling them gifts for people. You don't know that or gifts for grandma, guess your grandma. Do you think grandma like this bell made out of China. It's the thing we're one time you said you liked penguins, and now every fucking gift you get from your kids penguin. And I'm saying that because my fucking own mother fucking penguin starts like my mom who she said, she liked chickens and four years later. She opened up like a chicken cookie thing. If I see one more fucking chicken, I'm gonna kill somebody. It makes it easier. My mom's penguins, my grandma monkeys. My sister's black cats. I've Siamese cats. Yup, stop my friend, Patty Riley and high school. At some point in grammar school told somebody she liked frog's. It was Franchi ever. Got, it's makes it easier. Yeah, it really does me. I like money. Okay. My favorite animals gift card. Oh, pet them and spend of, okay, so she's working at the crown homework destined those China bills, get it get after it, and she lives in that town with her husband thirty two years, Dennis, Dolly, Dennis. The Easter season Dennis volunteer to come down to the hallmark store and dress up as the Easter bunny so kids can come in and take pictures out those Swedes not ninth. And Jones co workers described Dennis as the kind of guy who do anything for a laugh. It seemed like they had the perfect marriage. And of course, anytime they say that, sorry, this. From got this from Wikipedia page, but also, of course to show deadly women on the fun. I mean not fun, but, but also when I know it's going to happen. Well, you'll see because anytime on a true crime show, if they say they seem like the perfect Ruppel. You know, some fucked up shit is about start or no one's the perfect cupping guidance, and I don't seem like the perfect couple. Do you do once home on short and you really seem to like each other. That's all that we know fucked up. Shit is happening when Stephen, I leave this apartment threat. He's putting crackers so high up, you can't get them. I can't reach the chicken, viscous. Give me that club cracker you son of a bitch. Okay. So Dennis has been retired for fifteen years, and he decides he's going to get a part time job at the local golf course to supplement his pension because he's good at Gulf. Although his real passion is fishing, he likes to go and lots of fishing trips. He dreams of owning his own fishing boat. You can get a job at the fishing course. No sure. Can't hire you to fit. Why don't they do that? They just don't need it. Okay. It's not. Got it. Angelique point feasible. This the point emission of the point of Bishop joint golfing. So he always goes on these fishing trips by himself, which is fine with Joan because she hates the water and so she hates him in lovely leaves this fucking okay after thirty two years of marriage, I'm sure she's like, sounds great around this same time, nineteen Ninety-one. Joan inherits. Seventy grand from her mother seventy grand and how stay? Yes. And Dennis tells Joan, you should put the house in the deed of that house in my name. Let's because he wants to sell. It wants to go sell it and then they can take that money and spend it. He wants fishing boat. He's plans, but Jones says, no, she keeps telling him she's keeping all that money and that the house as a nest egg quote, unquote, in case something happens, nothing. Nothing worth. Seventy thousand dollars happens. Right? Like something over. Yeah, what is she planning? Well, here's, here's what it is. She finally confides her friend who also owns the hallmark store. Okay. She keeps it real tight. Not hallmark store is, is it a franchise it is that women's franchise for her. She is a small business. I'm happy for a good friend to Joan Joan confides in his like I think Dennis is having and should. That's why she's like, I'm not giving him any money spending money like crazy lately. Oh, when he goes on these quote, unquote fishing, but she doesn't know on what chips trip should be cheap. Everyone knows that. What do you need worms worms, eating food out of akin? Yeah. You got your on your mill. I don't know why. Suddenly he's a Hobo. He is. He he jumps train to get to the pond. He jumps trying to get back to know eat the fish. Oh, that's what? Yeah, that's right. Don't need food. I mean anything Cam, no save your eighty. Nine cents. So she is suspicious k. so basically she's preparing to get a divorce. Oh shit. And Dennis when she won't give him any money or let him play or really do anything. He starting to suspect that she might want to get a divorce. And if that happens, she will get half his pension. That means he will be financially ruined. So don't fuck around then kid, right? So let's go back to the early years Joan, Dennis, Dolly, Kyle -hood sweethearts. They got married in nineteen fifty six. He was in the air force at the time. He was a missile technician shit. You gotta be smart as fuck, right? He knows his shit. I mean, one would hope you gotta hope. I mean, if you take your around with people are smart, you're just put any guy that keeps turning instructions over and over blueprint say it's just I ki- instructions with that little dude. It's guy next to a missile watching his head. They get shipped to London. Right after they get married Joan loves it. She loves the idea that she gets to be this military wife that travels the world with her missile technician husband while overseas. She gives birth to their first daughter, Debbie, and. Bre. There we go right five years later in nineteen sixty one. They moved back to the US. Joan has another baby girl named Laurie. They have there. There's lots of family home movies where Dennis is playing the devoted father dressing as Santa every year at Christmas. And of course is the Easter bunny every year. Easter nineteen sixty eight. They the dollies have transferred once again to the military base in lompoc California, which is north of here there. The girls are twelve and seven, and by all appearances, they're the perfect American military family. It's the height of the Cold War. Those Dennis keeps having to leave on missions and not explaining where he's going and Joan. By this point is tired of moving all the time they've moved at ton of times. She hates brooding the family every time. And as the girls get older, they don't like it either. So it's all becoming a little problematic nineteen, seventy four, the family stationed in Omaha, Omaha, Nebraska, Debbie graduates college a year later, Dennis retires from the air force and the whole family moved back to California and they settled down in so mar in the northern San Fernando Valley. Is that like super suburb? Cute. You notice super suburbia. Not that nice little bit a little bit. I mean, I'm farming sign in general, but there's a little crime up there. Okay. It's not. It's. It's not the regular San Fernando Valley like Encino or whatever. Yeah, got some crime happening. It gets it gets a little risky out there now. Okay, so just a few weeks after Easter on April seventeenth nineteen Ninety-one. Joan doesn't show up for work at the hallmark store and it's very unlike her. She doesn't call. She just doesn't show and her good friend and the owner that woman's name is Marilyn rush. She knows how we're this is for Jones. So she immediately drives over to Joan's house. She lets herself into the house with the extra key that she knows where it's hidden and the whole house. In shambles. There's been, there's clearly been robbery. She walks into the master bedroom and she finds Joan bludgeoned to death in her Bono, I was hoping she'd be deadly woman. She's not a deadly woman, so she's been murdered. So she's been severely beaten around the head. She's a broken finger and she's other defensively on our arms and hands the front sixteen luckily. So it's nineteen Ninety-one. The friends team scrapes the because they see that there's. Tissue underneath back. Yeah. Yeah, she thought so they scrape it and they save it. And they know that DNA is now a possibility, but it's very early stage a whole, just a baby that's little polls. Holes with this is when he had puffy his puffy baby cheeks, but he was a, he wasn't a frenzy. He was the okay, that's how he starts. Powell's isn't even part of the story. Anyway, he's across the bay north. He's north and west. So the police determined that the point of entry was a break in the back of the house. So they just put it together with all the. Say ramshackle this with all the rummaging on it's a break and ransacking a ran, not ramshackle. Nope, that's not my story. That's from your. I'm borrowing story and putting it into my store. It sounds like Golden State killer style, right? That's right. The bludgeoning. Yeah. So. When the family finds out Denison is daughters are distraught. Obviously their total disbelief that they're Joan is gone. And at such a young age, Dennis can barely function. Does she fifty six fifty five or fifty six off? So yeah, you know, like living this kind of like retiree, Ryan -ly. Yeah, trying to put it together. Sure. Dennis can barely function and he tells his daughters. He can't stay in the house. Obviously that's where his wife was murdered and that he just needs to go away on a fishing trip. His daughter, Debbie doesn't think it's a good idea for him to be alone. So she says, if you wanna go, I'll go with your nieces. No, I really need to be by myself. I just I have to be by myself and so he goes on his trip. We don't trust him now. No. The police don't trust him when they talked to Dennis, they feel like he's giving no absolutely. No signs that he is even upset that his wife has been blood into death in her bed. They're getting real weird vibes. That's a police thing. We know that sometimes people don't act like they're angry what you can tell vibes. Yes. I mean, I think that's the thing too. Is that like so much police work is like, are you a sensitive investigator that's feeling vibes? Or are you a police monster? Right? Who like you're not crying your brains out? Yes, don't care. You know, I am now going to find the evidence to put you in jail, no matter what. It's probably the thing we know reacts the same, but you can be like this person is clearly in shock right now. Not this person isn't crying because they killed someone. Yes, like this person in a week is going to fucking loser shit or like in a month, whatever I can tell by the their pupils that they're in shock right ever. It's like with all these things are in. Like its context, just what is what is the actual situation here? Sure. And they all were like, this guy doesn't feel right? Yeah. And then they find out they're hunters right? Because it turns out dentist did not go on a fishing trip degree of the sudden lawf- loss of his wife of thirty years because he's caught on, you know, surveillance tape in Las Vegas Shingai's. He's just in a canoe, fishing in the middle of Binion's casino pull Ted Binion, Becca, billions back Binion's back baby casino thing. Instead he was gambling at a table with an unknown woman, laughing it up and have life on casino surveillance Dupin idiot, fucking dip. Sheared. I mean, listen, I hate you. You're killer. Go to prison forever, but like what are you? So stupid people are really stupid really stupid. But this guy's especially stoop because also there are a lot of places you could go that don't have. Going to casino unless like I want to be on fills like you gotta assume maybe you're being tailed. The don't know who the murderers. Yeah, like the first person they cops always husband is going to be one like rookie who gets sent to follow you that day. Right. You know, also, this was two days after the funeral that he went to Vegas can't hold for two weeks. You can't just let the feelings die down a hint. I'm like, maybe like help your daughters grieve their mothers fucking death and guess not monster. So the woman that he's with gets identified and her name is Brenda telliano. That's not a real man. That is brandy does real name. She is a sex worker from the San Fernando San Fernando Valley, which the idea of that makes me laugh because to me the San Fernando Valley is a series of strip mall and Starbucks. Yeah. So courthouse or to the exactly. So there's somewhere there's, there's a. There's a strip that some sex workers like to walk. This happens everywhere. So Dennis had been spending a lot of time with Brenda. They call her brandy and lots of money on her Jones. He wasn't fucking around like he wasn't didn't meet some chicken. The hallmark on the other side of town dating her? No, he he started paying for sex with brandy. So when Jones suspected that her husband was having an affair she was right, but which he didn't know was that he was having a fair with the sex worker that he was sleeping with, and he also began to pay her rent her car. He basically became her sugar. He cow money like, oh my God. Well, he had his pension and he thought he was going to have money Jones, inheritance. And when Joan was like, aren't getting any of this men. He realized that this lifestyle, he was kind of secretly living. This other life was going to get cut off and that if Joan divorced him and he lost all that money, the brandy would never again, because that's not how it works. That love would dry up right quick. So. In the winter of nineteen Ninety-three brandy is arrested on a drug charge. And when they search her, they find Joan Dolly's jewellery in the bottom of her purse. So this gives. There's a detective that's that was the first on the scene in his. His name is detective Tippin. I wanna say Dave Tippin, but that's just me. This is Dave Tippin. Dave hold. Please holds hold for. Dave check. Colder day we do. We are throw. Now we don't call people tip and unless we do thorough check. That's right because began tipping out his that went out. This out. Here's a quick tip. Don't just call people days. Seems like I didn't write anything down. Dave chip and hold on Mr.. Tippin dammit Tippin call me Mr. tip in. That's always says, so Stephen, Scott. Okay. Paul tips. So get the last name. Okay. So detective, Paul Tippin realizes when he when this jewelry is matched to Joan Dolly's jewellery he's like, here's what we're going to do. This is this is going to get me the warrant is I take her DNA and tested against the fingernail scrapings that I kept under Joan Dolly's woman. I actually did this one. He he sends. Brandies dna. I did not think that twist was coming even though it's called deadly women, the TV show right. The one woman was dead and that was your only choice. It's the early nineties. It takes one year results to come back on this DNA get your shit together is you don't even understand how important you are. But in the meantime, detective tip and detective, Paul Tippin starts looking into Brent Tahiliani was life, so he's not surprised to find, and I'm sure the other policemen that work with him. Maybe he didn't do all this work. Sure, sure. But they find that she's been in and out of jail for the past ten years for drug charges. She's a heroin addict. So a lot of the stuff she's doing purely just to get drugs. What does surprise them is they find that while she has been in jail in more recently, Dennis Dali as visited her in jail, fourteen times this has no, Joe. He's really not smart when it comes to like basically thinking any of this shit through. He's like, okay. Hear hear me out. She goes to visit her jail all the time and just to fucking see her because he he's like in love with her. Yes. 'cause like he's not having sex with her in jail? No, they had to have sex in in jail. You would be surprised that they are not allowed to have sex and jail? He's visiting her because he fucking misses her and his in love with her. Yes. And also second only to Las Vegas. Casino is the one other place you're going to get recorded and taped on security cameras, more and in fucking jail point. So they're having conversations about things that are being recorded. He is parents mugging smuggling heroin into her and keeping her commissary account filled with money so that she gets what she needs in jail that top Roman. I need that one color of lipstick. The only one that's available I went and while I need, it's the ninetieth so I need my Brown lip liner lipstick, just my Brown lift lines and then maybe a light white gloss, right? So basically immediately they're like, holy shit. We've got the husband connected here. And in one of these conversations key tells brandy that he needs her help. He needs her to find him someone that can take care of what he calls a big job. And so this is before the murder this before. Okay, so brandy introduces him? I, I know what that big job is read. It's not fishing. It's not fishing or what was his job explosives? I don't know what he did the missile. He was a missile technician break. So brandy introduces him to a career criminal named Gary wear and Gary's felon associate who will not be named for series. Sure. Theory. I thought felon associate would be a good. So I guess Dennis brings them back to their his house when Jones at work. This guy sucks. So bad really sucks. Shit in key tells these two fucking felons that he wants to kill his wife and he says, he doesn't care what they do to do to her in while they do that. He says, you can rape her want to as long as she ends up dead yet his childhood sweetheart, the mother of two daughters, his fucking lifelong wife, that lifelong, you know, up until this long what monster. In fact, one of his nicknames later on is American monster, oh mom, God. So they make this plan that these two guys Gary, where and the associate and associate are going to theater going to kill Joan. But. Soon after whereas arrested on an unrelated charge. So the plan falls apart and problem with career criminals as he just can't rely on can't because they're so ambitious in their career of criminality. So Dennis knows that Joan at this point. He's like, she's going to divorce me. And if the divorce happened, I will lose half of, I lose. She needs today for she files for divorce. Exactly, right. So he's in big, rush. Luckily for him. That's right. When brandy finally gets out of jail and he says, brandy, you have to help me killer. So on the night of April sixteenth nineteen Ninety-one. While Joan Dali is asleep in the master bedroom, Dennis Dolly. Let's brandy Tano in the back door of the house where they where the cops thought it was a break and they sneak into the master bedroom together, Dennis is carrying a Gulf club, and he begins beating Joan with Joan, wakes up, tries to fight him off. And that's when brandy starts to hold her down that Dennis can beat her to death with his golf club. And when she struggles, that's when she gets brandy skin underneath her, fingernails my God, and then they go once she's once. Joan is dead in bed. They go around the house and try to make a robbery gone. Wrong. But as we know, then that's around the time that the cops find the Las Vegas footage of him two days after his wife's funeral in love with brandy at the fucking craps table living his best life. They had actually taken Jones money gone to Las Vegas they had shopped. They had gambled, it's all on security cameras. They home movie footage of like they went on all these trips together. Then it's Dolly was so stupid peop- claimed brandy as a dependent on his taxes. He put he bought new cars and put the titles in her name. And her name was also on the deed when he bought a vacation home in big bear what the fucking bus. So he basically went out of his way to tie her him. Yeah. I mean as awful as the sound, it's like, I'm glad that it wasn't. Like the rape part to me is so horrific. The whole thing off, but like you know, thank God that one guy went to fucking prison. It's the whole thing sucks, but like, wow, yes. And like cold thought of like the girls are going to find out how their mother died and what happened to them. Yes. And he's like, I don't care what you do because that's what narcissism is like this kind of extreme, you know, whatever he was an extreme narcissist or psychopath you would. They don't think about. They don't care about other king about his wife, but like I don't get it, but like his daughters, you must've loved them and not wanted them to maybe. But clearly he was. He may have been on drugs too, but he was obsessed with brandy and he was like interested in keeping her around more than or just he would. He was interested in really, I think ultimately we're just getting. Time. So he he, he bludgeons his wife to death so he can by himself a boat educ Uzi waterbed and gazebo at the end. I couldn't more than trifecta tacky shit. Yeah, it's tacky is hell. Zebo. So so a year later DNA tests comes back the the evidence under Jones fingers male fingernails is a match to brandied Tahiliani DNA when detective tip Tippin put all of this evidence together. He basically has an open and shut case. And then at the trial, it's a three month trial in nineteen Ninety-seven and they bring. Gary, where the guy who dentist tried to make a deal with associate, he with a mysterious associate, Gary wear has testimony where he tells them that that dentist said and you can rape or if you want to. And that's like that's when it was like right over and done. Criminal. Makes good. Yeah. And also the daughters testified against him too. So he's this both the NS, Dolly and brandy Tahiliani were found guilty of first degree murder. And sentenced to life in prison. Dennis got life in prison without the positive ability of parole, and he died in prison in two thousand three and brandy Tatyana. Also sentenced to life in prison is still imprisoned today. Although there's a rumor that she is being considered for parole, that's the murder of Joan, Dolly, holy shit. Yeah, twisty, turny mind, fuck. It's just another one of these bummer. These ones come up a lot and you know, people recommend murders to us lot. I get so bummed out because there's just so many fucking husbands that just kill their wives for money. We don't do a lot of them because it seems like it's so simple and like this one clearly is not which makes it's fucking fascinating. But yeah, it's just like there are so many. It's just sad and shitty and awful. And like you're saying it's baffling that they don't think past. Yeah. What. Doing to go, you're going to get caught. Modern technology is going to get you caught. Monster, just like break up like you're a monster monster. And if I feel like it's that thing of if you're starting to have an affair that you're then obsessed with this person lake, yes. The divorce is like, I'm gonna. He's his mentality is like fuck her because she's going to ruin me because I'm gonna lose half my pension in the divorce. It's like, yes, but this is the woman who raised your children who moved to every single city. Right. And you had to move to you don't deserve the money. She doesn't. It's like, right, it's this the intense narcissism business. It's just so crazy. And also they were in their fifties. It's not like have gotten another job or made some kind of judgment. It was just like, I gotta keep my money. I gotta keep my girlfriend totally psycho. So psycho shit. Those on such a bummer. Yeah. So I'm, I'm glad it wasn't the one you did because I remember you doing one and it was something, but I think yours was about a lawyer who killed his wife. Do you remember that one? Tell me more, but it was like, I, I honestly think is like within the first three to six months of this show, it was really early. I remember being in your old apartment listening to you, tell me about it, and I started getting these pictures of the end of like, finishing the story up and I starting in these pictures. I was like, God damn. Did that. Did that you're? It doesn't seem like it doesn't seem like I guarantee you. I didn't do that. Okay. Thank you. You too. Fucking hooray. Oh, how. How was your yoga challenge? Oh, I failed my yoga challenges week, although I will say I did a lot of meditation for you because I feel like we're, there's some stressful things going on right now. We're about to start. Our call tour started in the bright. Before we our fall tour years. You started a new writing vascular went back to baskets. Yes. So you're just like, you know what? I wanna do double down, doubled a gerbil triple down as well as an we're simultaneously working on our network. And so I wake up at five thirty in the morning and then answer emails drink coffee and answer emails like a lunatic. And then I'm like a worked up alone in my house and I'm like, go to work. Yeah, exactly. So I've been doing really nice it just ten minutes, but it's just that thing of like I get upset because I think all these things are happening at once not. And I have these reactions where it's just like. I just need to come back to reality into real life and just be like, we're in the present, everything's fine. Everything's a company and then you need to realize that they're not. And that we're like the luckiest people Mojo mouthing time and we're doing pretty fucking good. We're doing good at all of it. It's difficult to keep that in mind now it's just whatever. So so I would say my fucking right for this week also in the room, my friend Tricia who works at baskets with meat and also has plantar fasciitis. So we get up three times a day and just start stretching a great thing to have buddy yet work with, yes, who gets it done all the research. So we do lots of stretching during the day. Like in weirdos, let's yoga. I mean it doesn't count as a foe class, but I feel like my two parts saying of trying to like, it's just that thing of when I'm by myself, my mind goes fucking Crazy Horse, especially when you pour coffee over which I understand. Yeah, me too. Yeah, I didn't. I have a caveat yoga. I didn't go to yoga class how member I started working with this girl names women, Sarah olive. She's a personal trainer awhile back after a friend recommended her. I just can't work out on my own. She is the most lovely person ever and I stopped. I did the finger. I just stopped doing it and you have emailed her and she'd be like, hey, checking in, hey, check in even like she wasn't trying to get money. Like I had classes that I already paid her for. We should do this. And then I posted some like obviously depressing thing. I'm Instagram a couple months back and she was like, I'm coming over and we're going to go for a walk today, like straight up like need to be. There was there. And so since then every week we've been hanging out in like hiking and shit together. And so she didn't listen to the podcast before when I was working out with her, but she does now. And so every time we go to hike or do something, she's like, I asks me questions from the. And she's really fucking Sweden. Lovely. And so this time around, we went for a hike, and then she was like, okay, we're going to do five minutes of yoga. So you can say that you did yoga. Nice. I know you didn't go to yoga. She's a mastermind these great her. Her interim is this underscore fit, underscore mom, this fit mom. She's got like two kids, so she did that for me. It was really like, she's just, I'm gonna cry talking about her. So it's choose lovely, that's that's my yoga and my fucking hurry. That's great that like she's really gotten me and it's trip like depression is so much better when I'm like working out and doing things in sore, and I'm happy and yes, it's much better. Yeah, we can. We can generate our own dopamine if we actually just do it and fight fight those bad feelings. I says, I've the stretching I described as the only movement I've done, but, but I like, here's the thing I'm not giving up on this yoga challenge because I like that something hanging over my head and it makes me think about it every week and it makes me go, okay, if you're not gonna do it, what are you going to do or do something? Well, yeah, we'll keep it keep it going. And I think since we're about to leave for the fall tour, which is really stressful thing, it's weekend. But it's like we have to be in different city every day, and we have to leave the day early comeback date. You know, it's a lot of hotel rooms a lot of eating like shits, and so it's a good thing to have in our head. As we start this process. I think of like just use. I mean, you can better not say anything to me about. I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna call your hotel room. Did you Berkeley. No, but you know, it's really funny as the. We've tried to be good on the road. It's not impossible, but it's just that thing of when you come back to your hotel room at night, you're just like, well, the late night menu. I'm not gonna eat a salad at eleven o'clock on. I also want to know like, what is this? I love regional food so fucking much that it makes me crazy like that is my all time. Favorite thing. So I wanna know what you're talking weird thing is, I'm I guarantee you. It's not a fucking steamed. Broccoli is not your regional sucking food. It's not fun. Like, yeah, the best times we have is like when we go to a place and then it's like, oh, my God, look at this place around the corner, like looks up a restaurant like we have to try this thing there. Anything there. We're starting in the Carolinas barbecue one of my favorite things in the fucking world. So it's going to get ugly this weekend. It's gonna, you know, we're just gonna stay what we're gonna do stay in the moment. We're going to be stay conscious. Yeah. And then if macaroni. And cheese happens. It happened. Yeah, and it's going to happen and it's gonna happen. Right? So we'll see you guys this weekend who's coming out and thank you guys for listening and you guys are the best, stay sexy and joke, get by. Elvis, you wanna cookie. What could he. We welcome you back to get up. We are presented by Genesis. All right. So we're going to try new feature here, and we're gonna call it. I candy because I candy is visual imagery that is superficially, attractive and entertaining, but intellectually undemanding like that how about Aaron Gordon style. And before he throws this down fellows. What do you think that that is spectacular? That's what I'm gonna do. With the next thing. I'm gonna jump like that and throw it somewhere else and come on that is special to watch. I don't know how much too short you listen to growing up greenie. But that was the tail of creaky tale that was the tale that until so. Well, disaster. Look, look, what modulus Abon did to Joel base job. Jalen. Terrific office of player, and he's going to be your BP conversation, but he has to improve on picket role defense as so bonus just showed them how to get up get out and get something. That's NBA is like the guy who got picked last in the district. I was waiting for guide. Shefty. Donovan Mitchell throw it down. Donovan the hops getting up there at the end of the half of buzzer beater. Don't get on usually see at a buzzer beater, right? Very usual. Jalen I've been on like that. That was graceful elegant you got to start the highlight a little bit further where you can see the ball handling skills as well. He's got all of that. And a whole lot more. So what which is your favorite of those three is my favorite play the night. We haven't even seen it. I'm going to show that to you coming up on our nose single favourite play of the NBA night came from Rajon, Rondo we're gonna show you that in our next hour, but of those three which did you like the best? Did you like sa- bonus on Embiid? Did you like Gordon styling in the air before he threw it down or Donovan Mitchell, the bonus we want he's from the motherland like, I am type thing and my kids. My kid's an I. Chance to junk like that at some point yours take Donovan Mitchell because of the stakes at that time the significance of other two or spectacular. Which was the dunk of the night there. I'm going Donovan Mitchell a great ball handling skills, and he'd go down to lane and dunk. Don't two guys that had him looking at each other. Like, it was a traffic accident. I candy we love it. Welcome back to get up. Presented by Genesis another hour coming your way on this Thursday with a lot at stake. We're going to begin the hour with the Lakers. They took the floor last night looking to build on recent success, and you will see how a new addition fit awfully nicely. You to the bronze game plan? And then there's Lebanon bell. He's in Pittsburgh. What's he doing? Well, let hit and try to explain we'll try and figure out what in the world is talking about. None of it is all that simple. And then there are the New Orleans Saints. They have it looked like they need a whole lot of help. But they've got some in the form of Dez Bryant. How much better does he make them those answers and more starting right now? And we beginning our promised in ally would Ron and the Lakers taking on the timber wolves late last night. First quarter, Lakers down six Lonzo ball giving to LeBron goes up and down. Lonzo a tough night, by the way, one for six at twenty one minutes for the brain had twenty four and the Lakers are down to the hat. Here comes the sequence in the fourth quarter. Really good game Jimmy Butler with his team down four knocks down the three. Plus the foul shot ties the game. He would score twenty four points. The later in the fourth Lakers down one good ball movement. Lebron three of nine from three Lakers up to now T wolves down three and Derrick rose. What a week he's having he drills that one to tie the game still tied, and it's and Ingram working it around. That's coups with the jam Lakers up to who's northward Twenty-one, then Derrick rose single handedly keeping Minnesota in. It was seven of nine from three thirty one points in thirty six minutes. And then Jalen here comes the. Tyson Chandler with less than a minute left and his team up one doing what he does. So well after lie absolutely a highlight of this. It'd be a countdown prior to the game how he continues to nudge out real estate. Download bullies. Karl Anthony towns and knocked the basketball out to retain possession for the Los Angeles Lakers to hope to put themselves in position to get the W late and the gay. They had an opportunity for switch right here. Eager got stuck on the pick Tyson. Does a great job of challenging the final shot. However, let's be one hundred he filed their growth on this probably should have been Fallon three shots. Not called Lakers. Hold on. They win one fourteen one ten they've struggled closing out games this year, but they were much better. Yesterday, outscoring Minnesota thirteen eight in clutch time Michelle seventeen percent higher from the field. Then they did during that time and so- Jalen, obviously as we try and figure out exactly what the season is gonna look like anyone who's watched. And chandler. We know what he does. Right. He's getting to catch lobs when he goes to the whole is going to play defense. He's gonna get offensive rebounds. And those tip outs. He's a very nice edition. Just how much could he mean to the Lakers this year? He's gonna mean a lot. And here's why greedy when you have one of the top players in the game. Like the Lakers doing LeBron jas in theory. You're building all of the other player strengths and weaknesses to supplement. His for LeBron. He needs guys that are taller than him like Tyson lightly that can run the floor like sales don't need post-ups. We'll catch lobs and we'll challenge shots. That's eight. He doesn't need to be the guy playing five he doesn't need to be the guy guard crying. And he towns he doesn't need to be the guy garden, Taj Gibson. That's what he was doing prior. Now, it puts everybody in their normal opportunities to be successful. You saw Ingram. You saw coups. You saw her Oskar twenty. Plus you saw each make multiple threes. They were more comfortable. Their roles. Now, it's going to be particularly to see what happens with Lonzo ball in last Iverson because now they're opportunity is going to be cut short because this is going to be the Lakers rotation as we move forward to the near future to pick up. I really like for an LA team that is now one three out of four. All right, Jalen, let's get up and go we've got a bunch of news. I wanna rush to let's start with yesterday. The news at the NBA all star draft. This year will be televised. The top two vote-getters will make their picks as they did last year for the all star game like in the school yard. But this year, we're going to see it. Will there be hurt feelings amongst the guys do get drafted at the end. I want to call it her feelings. I just call it wounded pride a little wounded ego. You look down at your Twitter mitch's JiJi mentions on your Facebook page, but you have people trying to chastise you assassinate to character and talk about where you got pick talk about who they picked others for their team if things of that nature Gaza didn't select their own teammates. But all in all. Off and make sure Adam Schefter. Here's the NFL. Did do this. Did it once the NBA gonna continue to do it? Because it's going to be a success talk about this kid. Maybe he'll be an all star Sunday Zion. Williamson he was just spectacular in. Dukes win over Kentucky the other night. And everyone was talking about it yesterday, including Golden State coach Steve Kerr. I saw some cute on Duke last night. I probably can't say anything anything more. I thought that was a one one one guy one shot currently Mexican. Before I get fine change. I jail, and I get LeBron comparison because of how physically strong he is an athletic. What do we need to slow down the hype just a little bit? We do not need to slow down the high green. They will be av AT's look into tank with this young man already. Stop trying for scien-. You're gonna see a handful of teams doing it for the rest of the year. Because this young lion is a freak of nature the power of seculow, Neil, the generally of LeBron James, the the guy can't finish at the who you see him doing it on the post. The sky is the limit with this man's going to be able to accomplish. But that's not overlooked are Barnett Bart who've been terrific also came reddish had twenty two points and trae join their gar- do. His whatever his freshman. You'll talk about it more with Stephen later. Meanwhile, some football week ten in the NFL kicks off tonight. Great game Panthers Steelers. No, Lebanon bell for Pittsburgh. He will be playing in this game. But that doesn't mean he hasn't been incredibly busy yesterday. He apparently was in Pittsburgh playing pick up basketball, and he pose to two tweets upside down. Here's what he wrote just about. Everybody has an opinion on my life and worried about what I'm doing. Don't judge me off my decisions because maybe this isn't what you do. But most people don't take the time to simply read between the lines. And that's clearly on them. I'm not apologizing for what I believe is right for myself family and the rest of my peers period. Also, if you're really finding the time to figure out what I'm saying, you're proved my point chef de at the risk of proving his point what the heck is he saying what's going on here? I don't know what he's saying. But everybody trying to see what he's deciding and obviously he's not gonna play tonight against the Carolina Panthers. Another lost eight hundred fifty five thousand dollars for Levy, I'm Bill, but here's the important part. He has to be at this Louis Kahn. Complex by Tuesday, four PM eastern. No matter where he is in Pittsburgh right now or he is ineligible to play for the remainder of the season. So really we are at the critical juncture for Levy on bell. We're giving an answer here. Pretty soon about whether he's going to be a part of the Steelers host season stretch run or whether he's gonna skip all this money and then try to get to see this off season. Now, another very big football move yesterday Kingman New Orleans by now, you know, the saints coming to terms with free agent receiver Dez Bryant on a one year deal. He's thirty he'd been on the open market since April and his new quarterback. Drew Brees fired up. A really good player mislead for long time. And there is certainly a skill set that he has he's gonna be beneficial. And so I would forty getting to work with them for the building rapport with him before to get him getting involved in this offense and just become a compliment to you all the guys that we already have. I think he'll see that too. When he gets here. And I'm sure he's been washing from far is just you know, how he'll integrated into this offense. I think could be a great addition. We've talked a lot about how he will fit in there. And this was not the only team in the NFC amongst the playoff contenders that had additions yesterday the falcons bringing in Bruce Irvin. The Vikings Amira Abdulah and the eagles getting Darren sproles back from an injured hamstring or are they let's come out to the camera here to the desk, if we can't please pick Sheffi literally in the last three minutes. You just got some news on Darren sproles, essentially basically Doug Peterson eagles head coach says yesterday that he expects Darren sproles who hasn't played. Since week one to play Sunday night against the Dallas. Cowboys eagles go out to practice. And what happens Darren sproles aggravates the hamstring injury that prevented him from playing the first half of the season. And so it looks like he's going to be out now. And so the Philadelphia Eagles who released their punt returner. The Andre Carter who got claimed on waivers by the Houston Texans. He goes recounting on sproles being a big part of their return game down packed is whatever it may be because he's such a dangerous weapon. Now, you don't know when you're going to get him back again. Because now it's another hamstring injury that prevented him from playing almost too much. So this is a setback for the Philadelphia Eagles right now. This was literally threw behind the scenes this with shefty on his phone while I was reading other things Saint greenie, I have something on Darren sproles for you. And there it is so taking that into consideration of the moves that we saw yesterday or Laskey which one do you like the most oh does Brian to New Orleans, and I go back to this. We're in this in this time in the NFL right now, we're about matchups and it's about multiplicity. And so you're looking at a team in the saints. And we've got a really good chance to go win the Super Bowl or at least make a run for it. And so how do we protect ourselves to getting in as many options? Formation wise is we want to in having our quarterback you can place the ball better than anybody giving him options. So no debt now Dez who's always had to be number one for the Cowboys. He gets to be really number three or number four. And so he's going to be matched up against lesser players. This brings a whole new Diane dynamic to this saints offense. Maybe take a little bit of personnel or people away from Camerin and Mike Thomas does is going to have a big impact the truth matters. They needed a veteran wide receiver. Chris Ted gain is on I r right and camera Meredith their other wide receiver that they sign up for the Chicago Bears is being placed on I r today he needs arthroscopic knee surgery data explains why there's team went after Bryant a time. It did. I do love the move. But I'll tell you the one I like the most is Bruce Irvin going to the falcons because it land as a team that has been decimated on defense. And now they bring in a guy who while maybe he has or has it lived up to where he was drafted the reality is he can do. One thing he can get after the quarterback. And that's what they need their high flying offense that is going to play in the shootout games. And so you just send him after the opposing quarterback, and they are going to do what I've been saying for weeks. They're going to do the falcons are gonna play their way back into this thing and they gonna make the playoffs. And so listen Vilma made fun of me when I said it and Riddick made fun of me when I said it, but I've been teaching Ryan Clark about football you long, and I will teach the two of them to the Atlanta Falcons are going to make the playoffs and urban. I think is going to play a role for I'm not going to dispute that I expected as well really because I love the urban thing. Dion Jones's back for that defense as well at least getting healthier Casey's really settling into the safety spot. And then their offense right now Calvin is gonna win offense rookie of the year. They're no he's not saquon Barkley Alvin really is going to win offensive rookie of the year. So you got the falcons made the playoffs. You got Calvary. Ridley the outfits rookie of the year. And I think both wound up being run. But we'll say, okay. Shefty is fired up with us on Thursday coming up. He already has it MVP on his resume. But this might be the best season of Cam Newton's career. We'll show you why he's got the Panthers. Offense rolling next. Welcome. You back to get up coming to you live from the seaport district at pier. Seventeen. We are brought to you by chased and Lobski is here. The Carolina Panthers play tonight. They're off to a terrific start. And let's show you how born to rise is brought to you by Genesis and Cam Newton. And those Panthers are definitely on the rise the Panthers and Cam facing the Steelers tonight with Cam having a career year somewhat quietly his numbers to eight games a better than they were in two thousand fifteen by the way, that was the year that he was the MVP of the league yesterday at his press conference Cam was paying homage to the man who's had a huge role in his success is new offensive coordinator north Turner with a shirt with north face. That says while some eighty north Turner, by the way, if they're going to put a lot of assistant coaches in the hall of fame, he would I think be a candidate for that. He's been so good in so many places give us a look at some examples of why we've talked about how good they've been running the ball on first down. So that has helped there. But really what's the separated? This team is every good coordinator. Once they get into really crunch time. They start to go. I want my place to run through these guys. So as we get this third and two against the bucks last week. Really, it's man-to-man. Of course, it's thirty two. So this linebacker, staring McCaffrey. He's got him in. So now Taylor who's the linebacker right here for the bucks. He's going to be looking outside. He's not thinking anything about Christian McCaffrey because McCaffrey's not on his side. So we're gonna have a short little motion that's going to happen from the bucks and caters doing his job. He's peaking outside and what what's going to happen with this past concept. The Panthers is they're going to leak McCaffrey from one side all the way out into the flat to the other side and the offense. The Panthers are going to come down to pick. Hey, there was a linebacker. And so you get this third in two then I'm going to run this play right on that pick four one of my best players. Okay. I need that third down conversion in the fourth quarter. Then we'll go to another plate. I. On. How do I get the ball to my next best player so on offense? The Panthers are going to send everybody down in this big formation where they're gonna come down and block or cellblock Greg Olsen who's gonna be our tight end. Right. Here is going to be the guy that we wanna watch. And we're gonna get a play action fake from Ken. We're Cam where it's going to be full sell out of this offense. Okay. Everybody's flowing that way. So now greenie we've got everybody on the buccaneers defense flowing this way. And then I'm going to leak my tight end who's one of my best players Greg Olsen out into the flat right here. How does he get wide open by play design? Okay. Semi I play third down McCaffrey. My second play goes to my second best player on offense arguably Greg Olsen, and then how do we get a touchdown? So they get into this bunch set, and we're going to focus on Curtis Samuel here. Okay. 'cause he's going to be the guy to catch the touchdown. But I wanna point out this, then he takes Christian McCaffrey and puts them over here. And then he puts Greg Olsen right here in Olson's gonna come up and run what? We're going to call a basic or just a short end route and the bucks are in court as defense. They're gonna affect that safety is that safety is gonna wait Greg Olsen. It's third down. They want to win the game. They're going to throw it to him. Not so fast, my friend because they're going to tack the corner and Sanyal is gonna come wide open because this safety right here is covering Greg Olsen blurred. But it's covering Greg Olsen, and so north Turner's going man third-down Christian McCaffrey, I'll get it to him. I need another first down Greg Olsen. I'll get it to him, and then great coordinators have this feel this sense of you know, I've gotten the ball to my best players. Let me see if I can do a little bit of a change up. And it used those guys as decoys, and that's how Sanyo's gets wide open for that. Touchdown Nord's incomplete controlled how he wants to utilize pieces and use them as decoys that is really well done at two things that jump to mind immediately is the creativity that we've seen from them all year long. And utilizing the strengths of the people that you have because he's run such different. Offenses in the different places that he's been. So it isn't have one system or one concept that he believes and he looks at the pieces that he has. And he uses them to the best of their ability. That is called great coaching. Then there's the opposite end of that spectrum the Cleveland Browns, they fired Hugh Jackson and Todd Haley two weeks ago, then their former somewhat legendary head coach San Mateo Yano who was a longtime mentor to Hayley told ninety two three the fan in Cleveland that Haley was expecting to be named Cleveland's interim head coach when Hugh Jackson got fired. Instead, he himself got fired as well. Here's what particularly on have said, quote, I talked to him on the phone. When Hayley was going to the office. He thought he was going to take over. And he got fired. He said to me, quote, I had no idea when I was going back into the office. I thought possibly if they were gonna like Hugh Jackson go that I would have the opportunity now to be the interim coach and then get the job eventually, and that's why I came here. And then it went in the opposite direction. So shefty is this commonplace. I mean, we've been hearing all along Hugh Jackson and Todd Haley, they didn't see eye to eye. They never really wanted to be together in the first place the notion that Haley went there because he looked at a coach who's one in thirty one and figured well, he might get fired. And I get the job is that sort of thing commonplace. No, it was a very strange situation. Cleveland's had other strange situations over time, and I think what happened here on this, particularly there were ports out there at that point on the Todd Haley was going to be named the interim head coach shortly after Hugh Jackson was fired. Now, I don't know what transpired. But there was about an hour that went by from the time that he was fired until the time that they named Greg Williams as the interim head coach, and I don't know there might have been some thinking that maybe they wouldn't even go with Haley. But ultimately Jimmy has lem who made the final decision changes mind. I don't think Greg Williams did anything to support the notion here to keep Todd Haley so rather than being elevated into an intermission. He's pushed out the door, again, just a string set of circumstances. And so you sitting back and watching this, and what thoughts are going through your mind. I mean. Go to Baker Mayfield. I do because here's this kid. You drafted him number one. And now you've thrust at him into this situation. He's going wait. This is the NFL. I mean, these we're this is supposed to be a billion dollar company run the right way. And so I've got a head coach who obviously he's got some stuff going on. And then in my offense coordinator wasn't even here to be mild pensive coordinator you wanted to kind of use the role is to take advantage of the situation. So. It's unfortunate. I've been around young quarterbacks that have had to deal with stuff that wasn't fair, and it has an effect on your career. So it really falls onto John Dorsey head, right? I mean, John Dorsey, I believe in he, and that's why it happened so quickly, right? That's why I got rid of both of them. And I give him credit for that. But man, it almost magnifies. How important this decision coming up to be their next head coach? And that's on John Dorsey. He's gonna lead. This search think Jimmy has them as smart enough to step out of the way and can defer to a football guy on the football guy. Find a football coach to make football decisions that this football team can get it. Right. All right. We will see where that goes as we continue on being told we have some news coming out of south band. So we'll get that to you in a moment and at three and five the Cowboys season could be slipping away. Dan. We'll tell us Dak Prescott is or isn't the future. I think smoking always affected my daily life because I was a closet smoker. It really sort of controlled my entire day. My boss is the one that recommended jewel. So I decided to give it a try. You don't get any of the odor of smoking. There's no ash all over your car. I would say give it a try to get the flavor and satisfaction of smoking without the mess of cigarette. Asher lingering odor. Switch to Joel checkup. J U L dot com slash sports. If you don't smoke or vape don't start warning. This product contains nicotine nicotine is an addictive chemical. Well, combat to get up presented by Genesis. Now, here's a stat. I really wanted to get into day because there were three unbeaten teams left in the country and the pal conferences, and we talk about them as though they're all going to finish the season, unbeaten but history tells us there's no way going back to this era going back to two thousand fourteen there've been sixteen teams that have made the college football playoff, a total of three of them have gone in unbeaten, and let's show you who they were in two thousand fourteen it was Florida state thirteen and beat Georgia Tech of the ACC championship game. Think I've blown out thirty nine point loss to Oregon in the playoff semi final. That was the Jameis Winston team that was the season before he won the Heisman or I should say had won the Heisman the year before twenty fifteen Clemson thirteen no beat Baker Mayfield and Oklahoma and the playoff semi-final, then ran into Alabama. And it was a sensational game. Derrick, Henry wound up being the hero. And they lose to Bama forty five. Forty the other unbeaten was Alabama in two thousand sixteen thirteen. Oh, cruising through the SEC beat Washington in the semi's and then lost to Shawn Watson and Clemson in extrordinary comeback and the national championship game. And so the point I making here is that three teams have gone, unbeaten and none of them wound up winning the national championship in this grant, you it's sort of a limited sample size. So we're going to look at the teams that run beaten and figure out where they might lose a game. But before we do that I want to bring a little news here. I told you we have news from south bend a sources confirmed that we SPN that Notre Dame quarterback. Ian book will not play Saturday against Florida state that source adding that book is expected to be available when the Irish take on Syracuse on November seventeen th that's a game that be played at Yankee Stadium. Book has been terrific since taking over for Brandon wimbush earlier this season. I just watched them from field level this week against north. Western book is a really good player. So we will see if that's skews the way, you view this. Let's look at the teams that are unbeaten and you're gonna show me the loss. Again, the first one here. I hate not to start with Notre Dame. And so I know books not playing this weekend against Florida state. But I still believe that this is the game for us to pay attention to when it comes to Notre Dame losing game. And it's really Syracuse. Syracuse has got two losses. This here was at cleansing when they took him down to the wire. And then they lost at Pitt. He's leading the coastal divisions ACC in that game. Search you said three turnovers go he had nine all year. So that little bit of an outlier Dungy. Their quarterback is very good. This is the number eight ranked offense in the country. Now Syracuse the number eight ranked offense in the country. Oh, if I'm looking at a game going where it can Notre Dame get beat up, you know, that potent offense for Syracuse, great coach and Dino favors. I'm looking at Syracuse, potentially beating Notre Dame. Okay. So that's their loss show me the loss for Clemson again. History tells us these teams are not all going into the playoffs on beat. Yeah. So I'm going to look at Boston College. And that's this Saturday night for cover reasons. First of all weather could come into play potentially fifties. Rainy, windy, Clemson loves to throw the ball. But here's the thing with Boston College. And I talked about this at Michigan a little bit. You know? Boston College offensively. They play with twelve or thirteen personnel. So two or three big tight ends clemson's use the plan against spread football. So can you fit the run they average about two hundred and thirty yards on the ground? And they've got a two hundred and forty pound tailback in Asia Dylan. So it's going to be a heavy dose of AJ Joan in the run game. But we don't talk about enough about the Boston College defense. I mean, they've got we'll El in Zack galax cues me as a defensive end. Why raise defensive end we'll harass this safety, Lucas Dennis's a safety. So they'd got some secondary people that can match up against Clemson wehrley. Well, if it's gonna happen. It'll happen this Saturday night up in chestnut hill and all of the hype around how that affects it but game day will be there be a very big deal. They haven't been there in a very long time. And then here's the x factor. We don't expect. I I know I don't expect Alabama to lose a game. But if they're going to where's it going to happen? All right now, listen, America. Just hang with me. I get it unlikely. And I'm not even going to give it a full circle. I'm going to go like like like that. Okay. Just almost circle and I'll start. Making an elegant wasn't sure if you were going all. You know, maybe I'll do that too. Okay. Okay. And I'm not even going to put a L. All right. I just make it look like it because George SEC championship game. I there Alabama whatever I will say this Georgia is the number five most efficient offense in America. That's. Number five, mostly fishing offense in America. And so went on looking at it. Okay. How does it happen? You know, keep the ball. Keep the ball away from two aka LeBron and this Alabama offense and be superficially, running the ball with swift and Holyfield and. Continue to keep Alabama's offense off the field on your saying. You know, like I said, it's not I don't know how likely it is, greedy. They're not going to lose a game. I I'm not one hundred percent sure that they wouldn't make the playoffs in the NFC. There's no conceivable chance they're going to lose a game in college. But I appreciate you playing along with the notion. And again, it is worth pointing out three teams out of sixteen have made it, unbeaten and none of them have end up winning the national championship back to the NFL. We go with the Cowboys who are three and five Dallas faces the eagles this Sunday. It's a game Zeke Elliott called a must win. Jerry Jones told one zero five point three the fan this week. Meanwhile, that Dak is going to get a contract extension and Dak Prescott continues to be the center of a whole lot of conversation in and around Dallas. And the numbers suggest one of two things. Either Dak is forcing the ball into tight coverage is here or his receivers out getting open because according to our next gen stats. Twenty two percent of Dax attempts have. Been thrown into tight windows at the highest rate of any player to throw two hundred passes this season. So very quickly, Dan because I want to get shefty's take on what's happening contractually. But what does that tell you that number that he's throwing all these tight windows, if he's Aaron Rodgers does he still not have the kind of numbers that you would normally be is that an excuse if you will for a quarterback. Oh, it's it's a reason to why they haven't had some success though. I mean, you guys aren't getting opened in part of because the talent that you're playing with. And then part of it is because you're coaches aren't doing a good enough job is teaming guys to get open. So it's not all on deck. Absolutely. He needs some help like any great quarterback does. But he shared some blame as well. And then shefty how about Jerry Jones saying this week Dak is going to get extended. Well, you know, the Cowboys have wasted an opportunity here because when you get a quarterback who can play in play right away the way the deck. Did you have a window of four years or so to spend money in other places when you don't have to pay your quarterback, look at what Green Bay's paying Amaradasa Atlanta's paying Matt Ryan or. Oakland's paying Derek Carr. Those teams have pain those quarterbacks a lot of money when you draft a quarterback early on. He's on his rookie deal that frees up fifteen twenty twenty five million dollars each year to spread around the rest of your roster. It's how Seattle was helped in winning a Super Bowl. How other teams have done that big advantage for the Dallas Cowboys the last few years, and they have not taken advantage of it. As one other story out there that I think we should get to. And that is somewhat surprisingly Sam darnold of the jets is hurt. He was not noticeably hurt in their game last weekend against Miami. And then all of a sudden out of nowhere. He's in a walking boot. And now all of a sudden, Jeff I'm hearing from you that he's not gonna play this Sunday against the bills. What should I be reading into this? There's no reason that they should put him out there on Sunday against a tough defense when the BI week the very next week, you might as well get the most important player on your franchise the rest that he needs in not risk him. Unnecessarily? So it looks like Josh mccown is going to start on Sunday for the New York Jets. And again, you take every step to make sure. That Sam darnold is healthy. And then offensive line has been inconsistent this year. Best the centers had a hard time getting the quarterback to football. Yeah. We can't snap. All shefty. It's not the ball. What we did it. We actually executed a snap your Damien Woody snapped the Dan Orlovsky, and candidly, it was a delight to see because I've forgotten what it looked like because I what the jets play every week. But, but here's the one thing I will say with regard to this again is an unabashed fan of the franchise. I think the ability to take him off the field and let him sit back without benching him may actually be a blessing in disguise. I saw you tweeting back and forth with some people on your take was leave him out there on the field. Let them take his lumps. But if there's a way to gracefully take him out if you will. And maybe this is that maybe this is actually the best thing this. This could be like you said greenie a blessing in disguise for him. We always forget that these kids go from playing their college season, and then go through this especially early pick like this all that process, and calm workouts and traveling camp and learn this playbook and then. Hey, go play but also win game. So this could be a situation where he could just take a breather. Like, you said, it's not a benching he gets to take a breather. Josh go go play a little bit and kind of reset self scouts as well. You know, you don't have to study a game plan to get ready and thinking about this. We're in the AFC east where Sam darnold is twenty one years old Josh on. I think it's twenty two and Ryan tannehill thirty and none of those quarterbacks can make it through the year. But the Forty-one-year-old quarterback in that division just keeps going on and on and on indestructible TB twelve not gonna Lada you could have lived without that. With Levy on Bill. He is back in Pittsburgh when he's doing. There is confusing. What he's tweeting is even more confusing. Stephen A, we'll try and figure it out live with Jalen in LA next. Welcome back to get up. We are presented by Genesis. We need volunteers not hostages. So we're focused on the guys at a here and working in James is definitely a net. Mix. You can worry about. Here. We have nothing to say. We have to continue to play with who got whatever you come back open arm. But Nick, man. What's going on here? Le vian bell is back in Pittsburgh. Okay. That's the Steelers running back at an LA fitness club in north Pittsburgh Tuesday night where apparently he was playing pickup hoop. There was still no sign. However that fellas visited the teams facility bidding contact with the team shefty sitting right here. Telling me they've not heard from him at all. But the world has upside down. He tweeted things upside down yesterday. Let me interpret them for you just about everybody has an opinion on my life and worried about what I'm doing. Don't judge me off my decisions because maybe this isn't what you do. But most people don't take the time to just simply read between the lines. And that's clearly on them. I'm not apologizing for what I believe is right for myself family and the rest of my peers period. Also, if you're really finding the time to figure out what I'm saying you've proved my point. Okay. So the table is then set for our favorite little time of the day. They're they are Stephen a Smith and Jalen rose live in Los Angeles. Jalen, take it away. Can you guys make any sense of what's going? With Levy on bell. Well, I wish we had a lifelong diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan to talk about what's going on with their run in vain respect on. Our just was just watch a toe like you tone. I don't start with. I'm gonna tell you what's going on with both. He's trying to love everybody into his problem. The fact that is you're talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers. The world does not have a problem with Levy on bell. You got some people that might wanna debate you pass up all that money. What do you think Steve Harvey was on? I take yesterday talk about I'm giving up eight nine million dollars AOL nine doing that stuff. Like that you got people with those opinions. But for the most part, you're not affecting anybody's life outside of the Pittsburgh Steelers. We go still joy thanksgiving dinner. We still exchange Christmas gifts and sweating Levy on bell on that level. And he knows it. So his objective is pointing the finger at the Pittsburgh Steelers locker room, which is given every indication that they are not particularly fond of him. And then not particularly welcoming him back. They understand that. He's a great player. And we'd be stupid to deny him entry re entry into our franchise. But at the end of the day, we got this team. We're on a roll right now. We're not. Not interested in you. Because you've spent thought too much time being interested in you in their eyes. And my point to Levy on bell is be specific. No, sit up and talk about people people people say Steeler Steeler Steelers because that's who you really aiming and targeting your I in that direction. The rest of us coal. We sweating it. But the Steelers have a problem with you. Stop acting like you don't know and lumping everybody into the Clinton look no further than the comments of Mike Tomlin. Okay. He talked about having people to actually wanted to be there volunteers, not not hostages. So that speaks volumes. Because normally you don't see NFL coaches come out and speak like that. Especially when a player is basically holding out for his money. And the other thing is James CONNER didn't help his leverage when he comes in east putting up big time statistics running the football getting touchdowns that now has the offensive line saying, hey while we help make this terrific player. We're going to also do that for this guy. And this team has star. To play better football, as you know. So it gonna be interesting to see how this dynamic when you speak to this Jalen because see when you're elite, you know, it, you know, that everybody knows it. But the other the residue of those emotions that come with it feeling of being needed of being desired right now despite the greatness of Levy on bell. The Steelers have basically said to you, we really don't need you. And they've definitely articulated we don't necessarily desire you. So if you are Levy on bell geared towards free agency knowing that you're looking for your money at that particular time, not only is the emotional weight on your shoulders of not being needed newer desired played Ridley in your face. But now it comes with question laws because the question is what if another franchise out there looks at you and says excuse me, this is what they did without you. So who's to say we can't do it as well just to justify low balling him. And ensuring that he. Never gets the money. We all believe he deserves demand touch the ball four six times last year three hundred and twenty one Russia's eighty-five perceptions. Secondly, the reception on a Pittsburgh Steelers behind Antonio Brown. I firmly believe Levy on bell deserves his money. No doubt. You know, what the NFL is about they want to get the best labor for the cheapest place imaginable, and they're going to use this season at the Steelers of put forth as an excuse to low ball this man that is what Levey on bell has to deal with don't put it on us. Don't plan on us. We got nothing to do with. How about this? I'm going to frame it for you in a way, you can appreciate because you asked me a distinct question in all NBA first team or versus an all pro first team in in a fill. The difference is in basketball that player has a different level of dominance out on the floor. And usually two other fourteen players on the roster are built to service his strengths and weaknesses. If ball Levy on bell while being terrific runner. He definitely relies on the coach. Staff and only offense host greedy, greedy calls. I'm trying to see if foster OSs speaking that. Does it help us get leave? I'm telling somebody down. To give you a topic to chew on here. If I may because we all enjoyed it so much yesterday when you discuss design Williamson, but you're not the only ones who were doing. So the whole world was talking about it yesterday after the sensational performance by Duke the other night the whole world including Steve Kirk coach, Golden State. Here's what he said. I saw some do. I probably can't say anything anything more. His name that was that was appointed one one guy when shot deal currently Mexican. It's coming. And before I get fine of change. So I'll give it back to you guys on that thought is it a little too much hype. Or are you there for this evening? No knob there for this. I'm there for this. This brother six six six seven he's about two hundred eighty pounds built like a chisel brick house. I mean, this is this is this is up to special and when we talk about the greatness of LeBron James, we don't just talk about his ball plan ability. What we talk about his his physique his physicality the physical dominance that he has just by just by the way, he's built if nothing else that's what you're going to be saying about Cy waves. You could talk about his shooting ability his ball handling ability of those passes he made, and it's impressive. But, you know, something else where you look at his physicality that is what ribs it because he's not even he might not even be the best play on his t j Barrett. This something special to bowl, and I'm telling you right now, he reminds me of a elevated more athletic fast version of you days in the fast hot you. Agyei Barrett has that special. But when you look at Zion Williams, I'm thinking Charles Barkley would a body. That's what I'm talking about. A young talked about the one thousand nine hundred. I'm talking about the round mound of rebound. This brother. Bailey has any fat on them as muscles coming out of his Ehlo ABS and on top of it all he's got that kind of gate. It is something special to behold is our brother, and we love what UK say chisel brickhouse by round. Chocolate. No, no doubt. Also, he's taller. And he has a different skill set. Well, here's the other toll. But here's another thing. And I'm glad you alluded to this. This is a game changing athlete. Okay. Generally time that you're six eight two eighty five and your nimble the way as he is he's the quickness that he has the ability to be versatile oughta parameter, he's not disag- God to just sitting on the box trying to pound people using the size. I didn't play defense. I wouldn't take charge on this. Do I'm not letting this may run into me as fast as he can hit me as hard as he can just to get one. Let's say you didn't have to remind the world that you didn't play on what you need to that. But there was eighty one point. I know. I also got foot as plan against Michael Jordan playing really well against him to. Okay. That's how we don't. Remember that? No. Because you're naysayers only remember your worst day. Jay, the become you create an J say you brought up. I know I know. But here's the thing. I'm here for this with Duke because just like Alabama football. We now have a villain like somebody that lost college basketball. I saw the interest of that game continue to be lost over the last handful of years as certain McDonald's all Americans basically chose to go to two or three schools. Now that you have do elevate it in theory beating coach Cal his own game thirty four points. Now, we're intrigued to see what's going to happen next. Greenie, the loquacious Jalen rose bay valid points. I'm going to give it back to you. Because it's the prop to do. He did too. I was it up to me put them on. Thirty. This was being Holly. This is how. I'm just saying I'm just saying. You don't you don't make got is just just special. It's just take from LA coming up at nine minutes here on ESPN. We'll see a guy shortly and tomorrow on ESPN is the seventh annual armed forces classic honoring America's heroes at seven eastern Arkansas taking on Texas from Fort Bliss military base in El Paso, like everything else. You can always watch it live on the ESPN app from anywhere. Meanwhile, here's what we have coming up next. All right. So this is a spectacular play by Donovan Mitchell. But it was not my favorite play of the night from the NBA. I'm gonna show you that one next get up on ESPN. Get off is presented by Genesis the official luxury vehicle of the NFL and in part by McDonalds. We got to get up with us tomorrow morning here on ESPN, we'll show you who got the best of a marquee match up tonight between Cam and Big Ben. We'll have Louis Riddick in our studio. He'll tell us. Why time is running out on the Dak Prescott era in Dallas, and Jonathan Vilma will tell us who's on upset alert for Saturday all that more. When you get up with us tomorrow morning here on ESPN. Meanwhile, this new feature it's called eye candy, this superficially, attractive and entertaining images that are intellectually undemanding, and no one does it better than the NBA. So here are a couple from last night. How about this styling by Aaron Gordon, shefty, what are your thoughts one handed? Aaron Gordon gets up there. He has some of the best in the game. This is another one of them one that I used to do that back in high school that who's that move. But were you able to throw the hand behind the head like that? I couldn't do. But the one handed hops part, I could you dunk a basketball Orlovsky, I'm gonna plead the fifth. Okay. Fair enough. Let me assure you that next one. This one is cold. This is dementia. Savona? On Joel Embiid. Oh, usually the other way around right? Joel Embiid is usually doing was strolling the streets Philadelphia in the summer doing this pickup guys. This didn't happen. So Savona good for you. He got flushed on in every conceivable way, then the one that we liked the best earlier champi his guy. Donovan mitchell. Yeah. This is awesome. Because it beats the buzzer at the happy goes up in your face and the timing of it the efficiency of it the beauty of it meaning Chevy's just lone slow over. So it is I candy, but none of these where my favorite play out for that. We bring in my new favorite thing. And it is obvious flopping. Look at Rajon Rondo look look. He goes can we look at that? Down goes Frazier. What is going on here? When did this start? I hate it. I hate flopping in the NBA. It's ridiculous. Come on. It took him fifteen feet the flop if that isn't like a technical foul and a fine four four Derrick rose wasn't it never wanna hear anyone make fun of the World Cup. Again, flopping is alive. And well in the NBA you can see some of tomorrow night actually, a good game tomorrow night tip off your weekend with our next NBA Friday matchup. It's Gordon Hayward returned to Utah Celtics taken on the jazz nine thirty eastern. And you can watch it live on the ESPN app from anywhere. You are. Meanwhile, the big game in the NFL is tonight. I have a minute here until I take shefty. What are we looking for tonight? Panther Steelers great match. Probably the best match the entire Egan on Thursday night. A lot of points playoffs were both teams. Carolina Panthers really fighting the least talked about good team in the NFL tonight. Carolina gets chance to make another statement. Who do you like we did our breakdown in talks about the fourth quarter? The Panthers are the number two team when it comes to point differential in the fourth quarter, plus thirty one better than their Ponant s- in the fourth quarter. So this game gets the fourth quarter. I'll take the Panthers big thing who wins first down. Everyone's first down will win this game tonight. And I gotta tell you. I am buying every conceivable way on Carolina, but these are two good teams. So on a Thursday night. Give the edge to the home team is much better than it is on the road. They're very good at home. And on these Thursday nights short weeks the road team. I think has a particularly difficult time. So I like the Steelers tonight, we hope it is a good game. Again, Louis Riddick. Jonathan Vilma will be. You're breaking it down for tomorrow morning, Dan. Thank you very much doing this, shefty, always the light to see you.
