Well, king online and make me an appointment Yam out. I'll I'll look into that. Yeah. Well, but I asked you to look into a two days ago. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, no, no. Do you think I could get an appointment at the DMV which is in z Hebel beach or seaside, eight miles away from Laguna Seca the track? That's correct. And it actually perfectly located halfway between where you'll be staying where the track is you have the place on Wednesday. I can get you a DNB appointment on Thursday. Oh, everything's working on. "I had that I lacked that, gene, where I could go with that. I'd say time on one of the highest paid act. Why is he working at a fast food? But they do it. And then at the end people Claude, and that's sort of what you Mer is. Now, like people will make bold statement and get applause, instead of big lapse. It's weird to me. It's sort of short-circuited the primal thing that it's an involuntary gesture where somebody says something funny, and you don't have to intellectualize it. You just find yourself. And that's the cool part of it. Now it's people going. And that's a big change for comedy, the term that I've heard used about this clapped her that people are not actually laughing anymore. They're just they're clapping. And this is the Hannah Gadsby version of comedy where you have think pieces now about why for thousands of years, we've actually been getting the entire concept of comedy wrong. It's not that we're supposed to laugh at things. It's supposed to if we laugh at things. It's actually bad. We're supposed to think about things, and then the thinking is the humor. It seems to be that we are reshifted the entire nature of humanity around, what a bunch of very, politically driven people wanted to be because I mean, I'm old enough to remember when Jay Leno was on television and trying to be funny. And now you've got people on TV in late night. Who I don't even know if they're trying to be funny anymore. I mean legitimately they, I think that Fallon, maybe the only late night host is even making an occasional attempt to be funny. I don't know what your, your opinion is of the of the. And I like that about him. I, I think that you have to understand if you want at some point, you would lose those jobs. If you look good Jimmy is at Jimmy Fallon, I've been on Jimmy Kimmel us nice to meet, so I have an ax to grind their. I disagree with them on many things, but he's also adroit at in his own way. But Jimmy's the entertainer to me, look how much trouble he got in for a simple hair fluff with Donald Trump. It's almost over for him at that point. Really, he's had the rally, and there is an individual's choice at some point to keep a great job, you can say you should make your statement you speak, your mind. If you're a forty five year old Jimmy Fallon seems like light full guy, the times, I've met him over the years could kit makes me laugh on stage deadly funny. He's got the catbird seat, he hosts what Johnny Carson is. They didn't even make them leave from New York. He's loves New York. He's probably not gonna thirty to thirty million dollars a year all win. And they say, well, listen, no more pro-trump stuff, or we're going to this is they won't even state it. But it's the old mob hit movies where they fart mental is it they'll have to deal with you with extreme prejudice. Would eventually not have that gig. It's, it's just the truth. You couldn't go. Jimmy could not go out there now. And espouse anything on that side. I think at that point it's. Dion Sanders whenever he does NFL football. Somebody won't like stretch out for pass all like short arm. They don't get lit up and the Unsan is business decision. And that's the thing of at some point, you have to understand the hierarchy would want you. If you went out every night and did a pro-trump Shen and this is where I feel like contrary to your own perception of yourself. I think that there probably is a growing market for somebody like you actually saying things that are both funny and somewhat conservative. Simply because if you look at Jimmy Kimmel Jimmy, like, I, I remember when he used to do the sports thing, Kevin being one of the six point seven out here and was a funny guy when he was doing his show with Adam Karol on comedy central and the humor came first and now he's the pope of late night. Right. He gets up there, and he's going to rail about ObamaCare and cry on TV about ObamaCare..

We take George Washington off the dollar Bill slaves. I mean, I don't know. I wasn't. Yeah. I don't know the answer to that. I have no horse in the race. Kate Smith could have been a full on racist. Or she could have been what other people believe she was doing mocking racism with a song that she sang. I mean, both things are I've heard both discussions the last few days. I think if something happened eighty years ago, and you're treating it with the standards of today, there's a lack of realism there. But, but if you feel that it was wrong, then it's wrong. Now, isn't it? What do you mean feel is? Well, I mean, if you if you even though perhaps it was not widely viewed it was I don't know a very big star after that. Yeah. I don't know Kate Smith. "You don't change a system for an anomalous event. It won't happen again anytime soon and to change the system because of it is absurd and market down fans will hate it. I have no idea what in the world. Anybody is going to do with hail Marys. If you go let her to the law. They'll all be pass interference the desperate team will get a huge edge. And I think sports should be built for better coaches better players better schemes and better organizations to win not give the trailing team late the fluky team an officiating break. Let me shift to this last night. This'll make news it sort of silly. It's like one of those late night shows, James corden, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert. They're not journalists there entertainers, and when guys like Kobe Bryant go on you know, they're gonna play to the crowd. And last night was one of those moments where the non-sports host who doesn't really get sports brings on the sports star. And you know, it's the environment. Kobe says something and people make a big deal out of it here. It was I would like you. So rank these legendary basketball players from best to us the Ron James, Michael, Jordan and Kobe Bryant. My best Michael second bag. Okay. Don't make a big deal out of that. Okay. I don't even care the rankings. But I will say this. Here's where Kobe and Michael are much better than LeBron focus anybody noticed. How brilliant Kobe? Bryant post basketball career has been wouldn't we all agree? It's hard to be great at multiple things. At one time. Kind of is Kobe was transfixed with basketball when he played it. He had no social life mocked for that kind of a loner aloof. But nobody would nobody would argue as basketball career was a plus plus. Then Kobe shifted all this passionate intensity and retired from basketball and moved into his next career. That has also been so far a plus, plus he won an Oscar for a short film. It was fantastic. And he has a bestseller a new kids book that's out that it's fantastic people on our staff of bought it eight plus plus because Kobe and Michael understood I'm all in on hoops. And then I'm not and now I'm all in on business. Lebron james. Basketball suffered this year. And none of his projects are actually a plus. Plus he's doing too many of them. This is where LeBron is absolutely behind. Kobe and Michael Kobe and Michael the power of the word. No, how many dinners Kobe turned down with Hollywood stars through the years thousands. How many meetings? Hundreds. Kobe when he played basketball was in the basketball, and then when Kobe's basketball ended he had no insecurity having to do TV movie projects while he played Coby used Hollywood. Instead Hollywood has used LeBron. They haven't given him the best writers and the best producers..

Well, educated people in the United States are disproportionately stupid. I mean that literally I don't mean it even as an attack. You learn to be stupid at college. Many now weren't in high school. When I saw the video of eight-year-olds on Jimmy Kimmel Jimmy Kimmel using eight year old girls to mock the president on uncomfortable warming. I. What would these so called late night comedians do without we're not an office right now. Because that's all they have. I challenged them. Stephen colbert. Gobert still? Mythical. So I challenge him, and what's his face is to be Fallon follows me fifty million followers. He follows me. Follow us. He's followed me for years and. Hey, hey. Be that green is not a pretty color on you. Okay. Jealous. Curious. Never happen because I'm just saying it doesn't look. People think you are another finding out the real Lankan. Yes. Kelly. So. Who's the other guy? You got the Trevor what's his face? I don't I never knew. Dr. Right. Trevor Noah, I guess he was an anti Semite back in the day on Twitter about I guess, he's deleted them now. So he's no longer a Jew hater. So that's always nice nice tonight. Jus I guess. Jimmy Kimmel who by the way was exposed by Bennie Johnson. "But it's it's a it's a good thing. I think a lot I think it's volition with a lot of people. They liked to be the king of the Lou. Users versus lower middle pack of successful people better. Right. You're absolutely right. There's there's a lot of temptation in becoming like you said the king of the losers. In fact, this is sort of contradictory to some of the point or maybe a weird fit not necessarily contradictory. We've seen happiness studies that show, and I think I talked about this with you and your at some point that we're actually happier. If we live in a lower middle class neighborhood, and where the guy with the the so-called fancy car and a house that's lightly bigger and we can afford to wear Levi's five one blues instead of shopping on clearance. We're actually happier that way being around those types of folks, the problem is in absolute terms were still sort of reverting down to the lowest common denominator of the people or the average. I should say the people that were around. So you have to make this weird choice. Do you wanna be a little bit happier being around people? That you can go. Yep. I'm better than them and all these different categories or do you want to be getting better yourself? You kinda can't do both. Also in terms of people, you surround yourself with you know, there's this sort of misnomer where people are like some people tweet me, they'll go. Oh, if he didn't meet Jimmy Kimmel baba baba, he's still being corn and coat. That's right, and it go. Well, what do you mean? Meet Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Kimmel's, probably met two hundred thousand people. I it's not enough to meet somebody. They have never. Never never want to collaborate with you and work with you and be a party or life and help you and you in turn need to help them. Like, you catch us meet weird thing where people you just meet you can meet the pope that doesn't mean you're in the Vatican met him like a lot of people, but he found Mariah Carey for a different reason to to dismiss like if you didn't meet this person everyone's met everyone in Jimmy's met, lots of people lots of people met lots of people backing up a step Jimmy at the at the time was one on one of the biggest morning shows in the in the nationalist the nation. He didn't have a lot to gain from befriending and mentoring, or what are working with the construction guy or boxing coaches. Hey, let me like there had to be something meeting. Someone you meet a lot of people actually convincing them like ONA, we should work together develop something where I offer you benefit from that. Also, you know, maybe this doesn't hold true for but I'm going to see him on super. Bowl Sunday, and we'll be hanging out drinking beers and that'll be twenty five years on. So the notion of like, you just meet somebody will also how do you? How do you know for twenty five years you have to, cultivate, it's a it's a job. It's a plant needs to be watered -cational fertilize. But. Who you meet who you meet. It's what you strike up after me. And does it keep going year after year after year? Sorry, Jordan that makes sense. And that actually reinforces the point I'm about to make which is that your ability that you have of course, you do you have to deserve to be in that company, and you kind of brought up like oh craft. What happens if you're then the low man on the totem pole, actually, what we've seen is that potential counts. And what I mean by that is let's say you meet somebody who's a doctor, but you're only in medical school in your first year med student. We know that psychologically, people will say this person is on the level because the potential that they're showing right now is good enough. And so what you probably had when you met Jimmy Kimmel was he didn't go look at this poor sap that I'm just hanging out with you know, he saw you're doing the work..

Let's say away sugar. Ray durant? How they compete against the best of the guys in the last decade. I liked that arizo much maybe. 'cause I was part of it is I think it was a much more crafted area. Much more what crafted Haider's back then. And even like when people say kid out beat Sheeran Lenin. No, you tell him that. Yeah. Sure. I live. Eight time world champ guys, not being the Philippines. He's honest. Five became a ten though because we worked up to get better. Well, we did I I'm not kidding. Whether you're a fighter whether you're comedian, or whether you're in rock band, you have a ledger. It is ability natural, Billy comedic ability, physical, -bility musicality. And then there's work ethic. You want to be the greatest musician the world over here's junkie will. Then it's going to be hard to have a lot of platinum records once in a while, you take that comedic ability, and you meet the work ethic. I've always said that a guy like Jimmy Kimmel Jimmy is funny. He's not the funniest guy. You know? He's funny. His work ethic. His approach to comedy while. Norm. Donald is walking around with Kleenex boxes for slipper somewhere. Potted plant right now how are used Howard use? Dial his comments and said many times. Well, then what's it? Good for. You know what I mean? What what are we going to? What are we going to do with it? There's fighters that way there's comedians that way Rockstars way. There's every facet of life has a version of that. And the true champion. So the guys who take the ability in Mary it to the work ethic. Afraid you're so truthful, I can ask you this question. I'm so fascinated by the answer. "He's a very very good interview on FOX. She was but I watched her show a couple of times on NBC. And you're thinking the people who watch that show during the middle of the day are women Roman who's you know, a lot of them. Stay at home. That didn't really fit her. You know, it just wasn't a right fit. I just ending. That was good. I think Fox News is better for her. She lost her gig. By the way, she made a comment about black face in how when she was a kid bureau us enough for Halloween kids, wore black face. And and it was okay. That got her fired. She's going to walk with a big check. Also, we talked about this Dave last week. The double standard. There is in in today's media somebody I forget who it was tweeted out pictures of Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Sarah Silverman, all performing and black face recently and everybody loves them. No problem. Both chemo and Fallon have network TV shows. So there is that that it's it's a it's a political twist now, of course, it's being put on everything. And she didn't she didn't put black face on. She just made a comment about it. And they fired her she I didn't hear the comment, but from reading sort of what went on she was questioning on the air as to why it is. It would be such a big deal. For a Halloween costume to wear black face. She she didn't understand why that would not. Why would that be viewed as politically incorrect? Incorrect. Yeah. And she said, I think it was something along the lines. Like if you you love Diana Ross. And you wanna you're a kid and you want to be Diana Ross you put on black face. She she was saying that used to be okay. And she lost her job over that. And a lot of it is political. There's a certain part of our country that hates making Kelly for her politics. Well, then hated or going into her job NBC absolutely there there. There's a certain segment of the population on both sides of the aisle that. Sit and look in wait for -tunities to say. Got. Gotcha. Gotcha. Absolutely. And this one's going to get you. So it's unfortunate. And again, it's prevalent. I think, you know, really prevalent on on both sides, and it makes it it makes it difficult to. I mean, there's no more my dad or my sincere apology or listen. It's not what I meant. I really didn't mean that in a very certain that's not sufficient anymore. They they want your job. I think part of her problem at NBC. And I'm surprised NBC. Didn't see this coming is. She's coming from FOX network, Fox News, which is slanted right going to NBC, which is slanted left. So right away. She's got half of the potential viewers not liking her. And I would have thought they would have realized that and it didn't work from the beginning. Do you think also Al Roker commenting on Megan Kelly's comment saying that it wasn't appropriate? And he felt very offended by it. That certainly didn't help her something when everybody loves our broker in the morning, you know. Okay. Longtime house in Cleveland when I was in Cleveland, wasn't your local weather guy. Yeah. Did I've fallen in love with its held the Google home hub is basically the Google talking speaker with video let me tell you all about it on today's episode of talking tech. Now, if the home hub was nothing, but a digital photo frame like the old ones we used to buy ten years ago the cost like one hundred fifty or two hundred dollars. Well, then the home hub would be the best digital photo frame you've ever had because it ties into your Google photos account. I've got thousands of photos in Google photos. I've arranged it. So that it will show the most recent photos, you could also tweak it and just show your family photos, but it does more than being a digital photo frame. It also does on command YouTube all those YouTube clips ill do recipes and read them out loud step by step or show, you the video you can make calls to people you can call there. Cell phone use it as a speaker phone, you get mapping in weather information, visually a lot better than my Google home around the Amazon echo, and the sound is, but you get so much out of this little device. The downside is it's small it's tiny. It's only seven inches. That's just a hair larger than the biggest smartphones. It's smaller than a tablet another issue. And really, it's the only one I've had and I think this will be fixed is I can't get Jimmy Kimmel. Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, monologues on command. If I say, hey, Google play me Jimmy Kimmel's monologue from last night. They show me the first guest on the show. This is obviously a software bug that will be fixed aside from that. I also have to mention that shopping is better than on the Google home unit because you can. See the product you're buying, but the pickings are slim compared to what Amazon has that said the Amazon echo show, which I've also got because I'm reviewing it pales in comparison to Google stuff with the exception of the monologues just works in is quite a technological marvel sells for one hundred and fifty dollars. It's on sale. Now, I think this is going to be one of the most heavily marketed gift items of the holiday season in will probably be discounted to one hundred and twenty five or maybe even less enjoy it. Let me know you think about it on Twitter where I'm at Jefferson Graham, you've been listening to talking tech, please subscribe to the show on apple and Google podcasts. I want to keep doing what I'm doing, but every time I find something new, I then it's like another door opens and it's like suffragette and working with refugees or whatever. And I'm getting to the point now where I have to do the things I'm already doing well and try stop, opening new Dole's and it's very difficult because you open a new media personally find anything, and then you want to run down that path. So I think my thing is do four things incredibly well on assume inspiration, and you have access and you know, like people that can make things happen.
