"To run, but I'm constantly juggling many things to where I said I can go on the road if my dad needs me too or if we need to switch some horses out of Belmont to Saratoga, I can go on the road and do that. We also, when racing closed down during COVID, I Kevin was running the racing bar in Belmont because we weren't running and I actually went to the farm and learned how to bowl mayors and do all that repost stuff. So I kind of have general knowledge of a lot of different things. So it's kind of, like I said, with the farm so close, me and my wife bought a house on the road just behind the farm three years ago. So I'm kind of right next door if a hiccup or emergency comes up. So it's not really a 9 to 5. I can say I do X, Y, and Z each day, but it's kind of like what's needed and some days are very long, and some days are everything goes right. Yeah, yeah, I mean, it's like that with any business, but certainly with training horses, anything can happen at any moment. Your wife was that a racetrack romance or did you meet her outside of racing? I did read her at the race track. She was actually working for a company called farm that she was selling products to palmettos at the time when we met and I was actually sharing a barn with Jimmy jerkins and yeah, we met and we then together ever since. It's so important to have somebody that understands the sport by your side when you're a horse trainer. I've had so many trainers over the past decade come on this program and tell me that because this is a very unique job. There are no days off at 365 days a year. It can be long hours and you need somebody that understands how this profession works. You're a 100% correct. If you don't have somebody that supports you in this business, it's only going to make your life miserable. I've had past relationships where I said they just don't understand the 7 day a week aspect of it and when you do have that full support it just makes life so much easier. Do you have children? I do. I have my first child my first boy was born. About a year ago. I was on July 25th, yeah. So we're coming up on a year. Future horse trainer? I hope so. I hope so, yeah. He loves the horses, yeah. He comes in the morning late mornings and he just he's just obsessed with him. You think you'll take the same approach with him that your dad took with you and say, hey, you can do this, but you have to have a four year degree and find out if this is really what you want to do. Yeah, definitely. Definitely, excited. As the years goes on, we'll see where the industry is headed, but I'm definitely going to push him to make his own mind up. All right. Well, tell me more about your brother Kevin now, because the two of you working together, that has to be an advantage to at least from your dad's perspective to have both of his sons there. What's his role with the operation? Same thing. He's an assistant. Pretty much the same skill set I have and it's just it really is nice to work with my brother because the trust level, everything. I don't have to worry about him lying to me or if I'm just because there was a simple mistake made. The communication is great between, like I said, Belmont in here, whether we're shipping horses or anything. It just makes it life very easy. I know he cares as much as I do and vice versa. And we can we can lean on each other if one of us wants to take a day or two off or we have something going on. This industry it's tough to do that, but like I said, when you have somebody like that as your partner and helps. The other thing your dad is very proud of is the fact that he provides a second career to so many horses that finish up their racing careers, and he can do that with the farm. Are either of you involved in those retired racehorses too? We are, yeah, we don't my wife actually, she has one that she just went to the local horse show a few weeks ago and made his first show, yeah, there's definitely, like I said, we love to try to give them second chances. And do whatever we can to do it. It's we have a riding arena at the farm that really helps to kind of relax them. We don't have a track out there or anything like that to so when they go out there, they kind of relax and they can forget about being a racehorse. So yeah, it's another aspect that has really helped our business and just helped our lifestyle because we love to see them go on and do different things after their racing careers. Yeah, and as you said earlier, it's really all about the horse. I asked you about some of the horses that you got to be around when you were a little kid being around the barn and stuff. Is there a horse that stands

"So tell me about your dad. What kind of teacher is he? And what things are you learning that are going to help you going forward? He teaches a lot of except managerial. You're only as good as your people. So you got to keep your people happy and they do, if you keep them happy, they're going to keep your horses happy and you're going to do a good job. So a lot of the teachers, you know, you got to take care of your guys and the horse always comes first. Yeah. If you take care of the horse first, everything else kind of falls into place. It's correct. If you go to the bond racing website, James Bond racing, dot com. There's information bio information on yourself and your dad and your brother, everybody is there. You can read about the entire team. But one of the things that stood out to me was your dad is very proud of the fact that he's been able to maintain relationships with his clients, his owners over the years, and those things are owners come and go and trainers get fired all the time, but somehow your dad's been able to maintain those relationships. What's the key? I think just honesty and like you said, they understand that the horse comes first and they trust us that we're always going to do the best thing by the horse and it's kind of worked out that way over the years. So they've just continued to invest or continue to come back and bring us nice horses because we've done the right thing from the past. Not everything goes to plan, but if you're honest and upfront and kind of do the right thing, hopefully you'll benefit. If your dad is old school, how do you describe your training philosophy in your style? A little bit new mixed with a little old, I guess. I definitely look around. I am very observant of what other operations do. We shared barns, whether it's palmettos or wherever with Jimmy jerkins, who I'm a huge fan of, and there's just even, I would consider him kind of old school in the way he does things. And I think there's almost something you can learn off everybody on the backside. And it's just, I think that I ever was to go out on my own or everything. I might do a couple of things different, but I definitely wouldn't change a lot of what my dad does because I think we've got it to a pretty good science right now. What might you do a little bit differently, Ryan? I couldn't really tell you to be honest with you. Maybe off the hat without giving too much information. There's just a couple of things that you might want to change if it was yours. Yeah, exactly. But I am, like I said, I mean, I'm always bringing stuff to my dad. Hey, this guy's doing this. It looks like it works, or these guys are their breathing like this. And the source ran like this. So we're just always bouncing ideas off of each other to see, like I said, what works, what doesn't, or if that gentleman just got lucky that day. Yeah, and you bring up the name Jimmy jerkins and Jimmy, of course, you know, when I grew up learning under his father and learned from one of the greatest in the history of thoroughbred racing, so he, from that perspective, he has a very similar story to you. And now he's gone on and been very successful with his own training career. Why do you think Jimmy is so successful in such a great example for somebody like yourself? Jimmy just is a true horse person. He really is. I wouldn't call him a salesperson. I would just call him a straight horse person. He can look at a horse and know what they need. He is just a fantastic fantastic conditioner. I can't say enough about the man to be honest with you. He doesn't quite have the horses he used to, but just a tremendous horseman and you can kind of see it when those almost win those guys can talk to horses kind of thing. I just always see him as that. Wow, great, great comments there. And yeah, I think you're a 100% right, and I remember Jimmy joining me on this show and the one regret that I have. I talked with his father right before he passed away down at Gulfstream park. And he agreed to come on this show of me is when this show was first getting started. And he said, sure, I'll do it. And then before I could get back down to Florida for our next trip, he had passed on. And that's one of the people in this game that I had the chance to catch up with, and I never did it, and then boy, that that's probably my biggest regret of trainer talking. Yeah, yeah, I mean, just a fabulous man. I've only spoke with him probably a couple times, but he, I mean, he was just the gentleman, Alan, we're talking about he would take, I mean, he'd seen I was just a young kid walking back from Gulfstream, walking back from the paddock or the winter circle or whatever. He'd pick you up on the golf car, have a 5 minute conversation with you. Where do you need to go? And just he was just a fabulous fabulous man. Take me through Ryan, your day to today schedule. What does it mean to be an assistant trainer for Bond racing? So yes, I'm usually at the bar and depending on whether it's in Belmont or Saratoga or I'm usually at the bar and probably an hour before the track opens. Just to make sure that everything's good, everybody shows up and usually that go through training. As usual, watching all the horses and then we have any like set horses to school to prepare for upcoming races and then usually

"Due to victory in 1992 and 22 years later, his son Jimmy jerkins, winning that same race. With wicked strong, like father like son on this Father's Day weekend and that is, by the way, the theme of this week's question of the day. I'm asking you to weigh in on some of racing's most memorable father son or father daughter combinations and there have been several responses so far you can keep them coming at on Twitter horse racing radio network on Facebook. Jim Ryan and Kevin Bond. I like that one. That one comes from Connie on Twitter. D Wayne Lucas and his son, Jeff. That is a fantastic choice. That one coming from Gary on Twitter and a beautiful picture associated with that reply too. So I appreciate that. Saratoga slim says that the three favorite to interview up at Saratoga. Bill and Riley Mott, Christophe Clement his son Miguel, that's a great choice too. And Mark and norm Cassie. Keep on coming at HR and on Twitter, horse racing radio network on Facebook, let me know racing's most memorable either father son or father daughter combinations. I was talking about the davises. Robbie Davis and his three children, all jockeys, that's a great combination too. So on this Father's Day weekend, I thought it would be a nice way to tie it all together for you here this morning on the equine forum. Coming up next, Michael blowen is going to kick off our number two. Michael, of course, the founder of old Friends. He is a Massachusetts native, and he's a bit of a historian. And I reached out to Michael because so many sports fans around the world are tuned in to the U.S. open this weekend. The final two days taking place today and tomorrow at the country club in Brookline, Massachusetts. That's a course with an awful lot of history when it comes to the U.S. open. That course was once surrounded by a racetrack. The old Clyde park and the remnants of that track are still noticeable today around the first and the 18th holes, which were built in what used to be the infield of the racetrack. And Michael is going to shed some light on Clyde park and share some of his thoughts on what that track was all about. I'm also going to ask him another question. He doesn't know it's coming. But I have a surprise question for Michael when he comes on. I know he'll knock that one out of the park too because it's a New England question. And anytime you bring up New England with Michael blowing, he comes up with a story and he's so good at talking about it. So looking forward to that conversation kicking off our number two in just a couple of minutes. Kevin gorg is the analyst at Canterbury park. They have a huge night of racing coming up on Wednesday, a huge day of racing coming up and Kevin is going to talk about that at 9 20. And at 9 40, you're going to hear from Jose Santos junior, the son of Hall of Fame jockey Jose Santos. Jose Sanders junior is now a jockey's agent. He represents several writers, and yesterday he caught up with our Bobby Newman. And he went inside. The world of being a jockey's agent, especially for somebody like him who represents a several writers at various racetracks across the country. It's a cool conversation. And I wanted to replay it for you here this morning because I think it's well worth another listen. That coming at 9 40, 10 o'clock eastern, it is our twin spires triple play. Joe Christopher will be here with three races you want to keep an eye on at Churchill downs later today and hopefully three winners for you. Kurt Becker stroll through racing history at ten 20 and at ten 30 I ask they answer with trainer Dale Romans and turf writer Tim Wilkins. But Michael blowen is up next right after I pause ten seconds for station identification. This is the horse racing radio network. This is the equine forum, presented by twin spires. Our two or three rolling on, Mike penna Barron of the back stretch if you missed any portion of the first hour of the program, my conversation with Bobby and prat going down the road to the breeders cup or with Amy cook, the executive director of the Texas racing commission. I should say, general Amy cook, she is a Brigadier general. Promoted in 2020 by the Texas National Guard. Pretty cool.

Because i did retire on my own terms You know i had had you know quite a few spills. I had broken my back a couple of times and you know. I had a lot of head trauma and about two two and a half months before i retired. I had had another fall. And i didn't break any bones but You know i had hit my head pretty good and and I ended up taking a month and it came back and rolled for a bit. I really look forward to you. Know see those in the morning so you know after their days over it after aptitude into the chuck and kissed him goodbye or give them a candidate. You know that's really tough. You know but you know. They're in a better place and you know they go enjoy life so you just got to this move on you know talking with groom junior macfarlane here on unsung heroes presented by clayborn and he truly is an unsung hero in this sport as you heard him say he started with the chief now works with jimmy jerkins his son since nineteen ninety seven. What kind of teacher. Junior was the chief. Oh excellence was very tough. He was very tough but he wanted everybody to get a heads up in life. You know you didn't care where you are whether you have experience or you know anything you know you just help. A lot of people willing to people move up in life and you know the words. Give them a chance you know he was. He was just a great a great man a great human being. How'd you describe working with jimmy. Then as opposed to working was dad. What's the same what's different you know. Jimmy jimmy is almost the same like it's father. You know you you know it takes a lot of the same good and bad quantities from his. You know we all got good and bad qualities in our you know and we always talk about the good. Never talk about the back. But you know jim and is just like his father you know. He helps a lot of people. And you know jimmy. And i ever really good bond together. You know you always look out for me in every way cans you make sure that i have all his best sources and stuff like that you know. There's a good come coming to bar. And i'm the first one that you know. He was televised. And make make sure it's in my stall and you know very great guy and very great guy. I love them to that junior. What's your typical day like obviously starts early. But what's the day like for you. Oh yeah well for me. My days my day started about three thirty in the morning you know. Just get up. Nate my coffee. I run over to the dunkin donuts and get my coffee. And i'm i'm back in the born like about ten minutes to four. You know first. Thing i do i give each one of my horses a candy you know hug and you know they start nicorette as soon as i walk in the shed. It's pitch pitch dark. And i'm the one the one. I'm the one in there that time you know so i just start turning on the lights and stuff like that the all star nicaraguan and calling. 'cause it used to that candy ended up in the morning. They know their master is there. You know so. I just started like pioneer each of them up to the back in the store. And you know start cleaning each one stall which takes about ten minutes per star. I usually take your four or five loss you know and then after that you know at about five thirty you have to start you know. Get in the first sauce. Ready to go to the track to train. You know. finish training about ten thirty in the morning. You know then you have to start cleaning them up and doing their legs and massaging them at about eleven o'clock you know you make their feet and then their food and stuff like that after that we get a break from from from then until about trick lock you gotta go back again and clean their dog and give them fresh water. Feed them about four o'clock four thirty you know and then that's actually hit for for the day you know until the next morning again. Did you ever give any thought junior to maybe training horses on your own someday. Oh definitely yes definitely. Yes i you know i would like to own a horse and train on the line when i you know i still have a lot to learn but i think i could do it. I have a lot of experience from the chief in jimmy. You know so. I would like to get a chance day to do this on my own. We've certainly learned from two of the best. If somebody comes to you junior and they say hey. I want to get into racing. And i think that. I'd like to start by grooming horses and learning all i can. What do you. What advice do you give them. What do you tell them about getting. Started to be groom. Well you have to love. You have to love what you love what you gonna do. You got to know you have to have passion. You have to have care for doors and don't get if you're not gonna love what you do if you're not gonna love doses don't don't don't even get get into it. You know because they need a lot of care and attention you know and you just have to love them and give them all the bond you can and you know sacrifice and i and you'll achieve what you long junior. You one more question before. I let you go. You've obviously worked your tail off to get to the point where you are today. And you weren't shy about going up to the chief and asking him for a job. Which i think is just spectacular. He accommodated and now you're you're in a great position and i i guess i'll ask you this. What what is it that you're most proud of when you think back on everything you've accomplished in working with the chief and working with jimmy well experience you know the knowledge that you know i really Achieved by spending the time. You know my career with them. You know. I walk around the racetrack. You know it gives me joy to hear people say you know. That's the racetrack everywhere. I go people always telling me that. I've seen owners you know and everybody always told me that you know you know and it. It gives me a joy to people. Acknowledge what i do and you know you know and see the success. I have horses. You know i it. Does you know junior on behalf of of horse racing radio network and our entire industry. Thank you for doing what you do. Keep up the wonderful work and it has been such a delight to spend some time with you here this morning. Congratulations on being. This week's unsung hero. My friend thank you very much for exposure. "On the horse racing radio network junior macfarlane who has worked with jimmy jerkins and his dad the chief for many many years he shows up every morning at the barn. He grooms the horses and he does it in such a manner that he is. This week's unsung hero. Junior appreciate the visit my friend. You're so welcome sir. Yeah excited to hear your story and you know. I asked listeners if they had anybody that they felt was worthy. And and Deserve to be an unsung hero on this particular segment. If they would email the show and let me know and ed ceyhan was kind enough to send me your information in your name so here. We are in touch and I'm excited to hear your. Where did it all begin for you junior. You know That was actually in the city. You know Work working in Some i'm in plumbing fields. You know in business got slow. You know like thirty years ago. You know so. I always love or wanted to be among horses and stuff like that so after being laid off and didn't add any income or whatever just decided to go to belmont park and you know call up. Mr jerkins had two main gate. You know to have a little talk with them to see if he could give me a job. Knowing that i didn't had any experience or nothing but always read about jerkins and always heard that he was a great man and one of the best trainer around so i decided to see him. You know so when they're when afternoon about twelve thirty and access is security the page him and they paged him and he came to the gates. You know looking all strangers who want wanna see me now. Let's say you know. I said what am i say. I wanna see you sir. You're a very good person. And you're one of the best trainer in the country. So i just decided to talk to you and see if he could have anything for me to do her on born. And then jerky accident you know. Do you have an experience at. Do you know how rub ours is. I said to him that you know. I don't know what do you mean like. Rub your hand any laugh. Laugh and say oh come on in my whole is stage right now. I'm i'm supposed to teach personnel to groom hearth So i said jerking. That's what you mean groom them i can and he said you know what you looks like a guy that is willing and you want to learn. So here's planning dollars. Come back to work six o'clock in the morning. And i'll find something for you to do you know so after dan. You know i was so excited about it. You know knowing that. I'm going to do what i like what i always wanted to do so when i was really excited i tell him. I child's mother. That you know i think i'm getting a job and everything's gonna be okay and everybody was excited so i went back to work in the morning and the chief had around you know raking up and paying it up and you know. Walking is okay within two weeks. You know he's have me like rubbing ourselves and you know clean installs and stuff like that. And within two weeks. He gave me a real good horse by the name of gringa pilot. You know and i started taking care of him and i. I'm you run one for me. And then the right after that. You know everything that. I put my hands on just winning. You know so. I spend like about five years. Chief and jimmy jerkin was the assistant and jimmy jerky and ask me. You know if. I wanted to go with him because he's He's going to go on his own to start changing china's varsity. So that's a great. You know so. Jimmy derek than i went home and about ninety six nineteen ninety six and from there on he had a horse by the name of nineteen in that The chief gave him was a maid fitted. I've never run before. But that was one of his first. He gave him which became its first winner in his career. That i rob name is nineteen inch and owned by peter. Apparently the owner of The kentucky derby this air you know so After that i went for jimmy jerkin have nothing books success. You know win a lot of grade one races. You know he treats me really decent you know and then you know just caring for the horses you know. Just give me a pleasure. They're very gentle gentle animals. You know and you just dream to just wake up and go see them and stuff like that to take care of them and you know. It's just all started like that. Then you know. I take a lotta great horses like corintians. You know our schiller green light go in so many. That's you miss blue. You know preservation is. You could name them all. But it's just a pleasure doing that and you know you just just because my heart to to know how it started and talk works out for me. So grateful yeah and you should be junior. It's been Quite a ride when you describe to people what the relationship is like between a groom and a horse that is a very special bond especially when it comes to a horse. That's a really good horse. Like most mentioned. How do you describe it. What's that bond like. It is a special bond because you know when you being on a horse every day it looks forward for your care you know and your tend to touch and you know the more love your show. Horses is the mauri puts out for you. Know they know when you're not you know a fun fun of them and you know just have to show them a lot of love and you know and do your job right then. They'll really respond to you you know. It didn't means everything to me. They do is it hard when they retire. And they go to stud and you don't get to see them anymore. Oh come about it. Yeah very hard Quite a few that you know really.

"Stick out to me at the moment. Let's talk about the three stakes races today. Greatest stakes races at that you mentioned older sprinters and maybe next year older sprint division. How about this year with that grade. One asia vanderbilt today race number eight six furlongs field of nine and a a really well balanced field of nine to and we have the eclipse champion. Whitmore in here looking to to kind of get things going with his two thousand twenty one campaign. Yeah it's funny you know. He's champion right. Breeders cup champion eclipse award winning champion and he's an he's in the bendigo today. The third choice in the morning line that shows the strength of of this race Cbs alex since being in the barnum. Sappy joseph is really Blossomed and i think. Turn back from the mild. The third place finish in the met mile behind silver state by my standards should suit. This works really well. I thought he was impressive. In the carter i know. He necessarily wasn't a strongest field. He did be a talented horse in my control. Who did come back and win the neighborhood. So give him kudos there i. I just think the way. He's you know from six to seven. Might be as good a horse as we have right now. And i think his style probably suit saratoga. Maybe a little bit better than what more with more than have to come and catch him I don't know that he does that today. But with more re three races. Marvin solid you know to see rockets. And then You know a beating ahead and churchill downs he. He's run well here. Is greg one winter here. i just don't know if he's going to be able to catch tvs. Alex ferenza fire is in there too. And he's a horse that if this race was run at belmont you would say okay. This is probably the morning line favorite. He's probably the horse to but when he comes upstate to saratoga day for whatever reason he has struggled it is not his favorite race track. He's only one for seven over the saratoga main track any scenario where forensic fire finds himself in the winter circle i you know i'm a big big fan and who wouldn't be of this horse i just i'm i'm kind of with you here Not so much even just the saratoga angle of it but the fact is coming back off really hard raised in twenty seven days and i get why because we don't have too many grade. One races left at three quarters On this coast anyway. Maybe in the country. And i think this this tourist is just. He's better three quarter horse and he is seven as and the obviously ran very well against mind control in the neighborhood but Yeah you know. He won the very first time. He ran up here as a two year old. He won the sanford and then he's lost six straight some of them not his fault. He's caught a couple of sloppy track. I mean you know. The forego last year was run. I bet day if it wasn't that if it wasn't that day. I think we would have canceled the guard because that's how wet it was on on The day we ran the forego. So i give them a chance because he's he is A solid horse and he usually shows up. I just you know in this particular race. I i would go against him today. you know just to stevie salix anyone more come into it a little bit better pattern. The vanderbilt is going to be followed by the grey to jim. Dandy the local prep race for the travers stakes. Coming up later this summer mile and an eighth on the main track of course three year olds and all eyes on the return of the belmont winner a central quality who is a massive morning line favorite in this race and me. I'll try to beat them. But i think it's gonna be tough He's trained well up here. I i haven't seen much drop off I i kind of like the fact. That brad really didn't give a whole lot of time since the belmont them. Back on the word tab. And three weeks i know. It wasn't like a scintillating work but it was of just make sure that he doesn't You know forget it. But his job is and then he's come up here with the two of his three works have been been pretty solid with louis In the irons. I guess i'm going on history here to try and Maybe beat him. I wrote i wrote in my preview that it's been since palace palace in two thousand thirteen with the last triple crown race winner to win. The jim dandy. There's been several that i've tried. Cincinnati not got. Got it done one of them. was toneless to by wicked strong into two thousand fourteen addition of jim dandy. And i'm going to sort of hang my hat on jimmy. Jerkins with wavering. A horse i think has talent. I just haven't had the campaign the campaign to to show it yet The winter akwa sickness or footage and we should have interrupted campaign whereas since he's gotten effort mr peter pan with a foot or the fever He's got got regular work pattern. I thought he ran pretty. Well in the Pegasus at monmouth park. Just got beat by mandala came back a winning race and then there was l. Open put up to. I in high school and i really like waiver. Last year in company On the main track. So i'm gonna take a small shot with way. Burn and then you have another town north and masquerades as getting getting better You know his time. Derby day was good as ohio. Derby was really good I just want you know to.

"Trump king also so they'll come in and find shape. It's it's gonna be a jock trace this one because it'd be honest any any anyone can win this race. The grade three vigil the six furlong standard and here is super stonehenge Facing off against pink. Floyd but hardly topics i green light. Go good old green light. Go speaking of way. Burn jimmy jerkins And of course coming off of a run Pretty successful run with jerry door for as well To mike doyle who handles the stronach Horses but pink. Floyd looking to win this Early for what the third or fourth time in a row. It's been a long time and Unfortunately i think Father time might be creeping up on him and You know the super stonehenge turn the tables on them in. The jacques cartier has been fantastic. Hey i've tried to knock the source. Before and i just keep swinging so but We'll see what happens. I just think superstorm. And the now now i don't disagree and You know by teller will do right by pink floyd if it if it if it becomes not that not that eighty-eight buyer beaten four lengths in the in. The jacques. cartier. Means that you know he's ready for after care But you know is nine Let's talk about the oaks and it's a field that ten. I really good group and i. I've make half. This field is eligible to win here. Yeah Laurynas should be the favorite. Yep never run past seven furlongs so you know something to consider Jillian marie does nothing but win. And i've loved that horse. It's two starts and just a tough horse. She keeps winning curtains. Catch i think will appreciate the distance that one train really well the other day it really pointing to this race So it depends. How little pressure wanna take the raina Again another one. That just had said nothing wrong. I wasn't the biggest fan of the last word Baby is trying to keep her attention. because he was pushing it. A little on her but You know money for wrote coming out of a tree. So that's that one could be a juicy lit a price and you know open company coming against the restricted horses to be honest Something you can look at as well. I agree about money for row and and That's a affiliate. We got familiar with Via brian lynch Who also trades as Trains For the roma team and one horse he hadn't mentioned is the maiden. The violence maiden emily lean and This is a horse that is is inching forward inching forward with every start and with the added distances. Well i don't think emily impossible and is obviously going to come in here as a as a price i mean just got beat a neck in a maiden race that miss marie that breed hays runs the carpet diem philly I thought that Emily looked like she deserved at least a an exotic consideration. Yeah and and even more impressive finished second tar flash drive who won the selena And she's quite a nice source. So the you know the barn and you can tell by one at a two year old ran into the princess elizabeth and finish third there so the horses and that work was actually quite nice. The forty eight th street One of the clockers had turned to me and said you know that was quite a nice work for the source. so yeah. There's there's several in here that could win. So that's why it's a great race ten horses you might throw out and that's about it. Turn to the gray to royal north and a lot of familiar horses in here. And i just came from colonial on monday. Where michelle level had to she's going to have to regroup One of the steak one of her a handful now state runners but she sends change control up here for the royal north amalfi coast That the five year old mayor that you know certainly is more than credible. You've got all kinds of interesting runners that turned up in here I thought this was. This was an interesting group george. Weaver ships in from saratoga as well with lead guitar for the hills And the mcknight Genie's beep beep There's there's a lot of possibilities in the great to royal north. Yeah the to shippers obviously look very very tough on. Paper is for the local on stick with genie be Ninety four actually. I worked lady grace lady. Grace won this race last year so he can't knock her either. She went to churchill. charan in the new york against the boys here last two starts to run since april. Genie did work. this one. salting pechiney b.'s way For being the speed of the race and maybe genie beacon care them a long way but obviously a chain of controlling guitar. Look dirty very tough very nice weekend. I haven't even touched on the maiden races Saturday and sunday But ernie the so much steak action and high level stakes action at woodbine this weekend. one of the big weekends at the big oval and i appreciate the visit Thanks for having me and You know maybe we'll chat before the plate Yeah we see our biggest weekend and hopefully we can chat them. You got an ernie perry. Everybody and ernie's clocking report on the woodbine. Website will stay right here. We've got twenty minutes to fill out. We're going to talk to james scully. "Okay but the buyers just prior were were pretty good colton command. I put underneath. And i went back to the career debut down at gulfstream. You know one of those puzzles in that. The buyer is going in the wrong direction. I'm gonna hope for a rebound though because again career debut seen signal some talent but i thought 'em at twelve to one. This is a horse debuted last year down a colonial Winds up a solid winner and offer that wesley ward says let's go up and try little stakes race At woodbine had some trouble in their off since comes back as a gelding and offer that race. The forum is dark. And and so. I won't be surprised if we do get a pricier. But it's wesley ward with a horse showed some nice talent sprinting. On turf to start the career now makes the comeback at a price definitely gonna toss that one into my picks up. I have a three to twelve hundred seven three to twelve and seven and that's interesting because if after after big package who we agree on. I've got three other three completely different horses Underneath big package mentioned that noble emotion for Harasser depaz. who always seems to show up here with you know with serious players contenders united and resolute. That tan has some interest for me. Tommy amos and i i sorta surprised myself and granted. It's strictly a off of a push on the clock a report. But i i like the sound of of king james most recent work coming into this for jimmy jerkins and so i ended up at twelve to one. I was kind of looking for a pricing collusion and seems to be oars. That you know coming off the maiden win a. I always liked that as a you know as a launchpad You know a little bit more improvement. I don't see why king james can't be competitive in here and gets the services of tyler. Gaffe leo that gets us to the honorable mess. The grade to and this really. This is really nice. I mean th th this is this is what saratoga y saratoga such appeal. You know you. There's people saf that'll make the drive from hartford and from scranton and wherever and you know it's the one day that they're going to be at saratoga this summer and they end up getting treated to a grade two race with you know with with great one horses and just a really good competitive set in in this long Running great standard. Yeah midweek takes race like this. And i want to say. I don't know what day of the week it was. I'm pretty sure. It was lady secret though but actually kicked off the early double at saratoga one afternoon in some kind of an allowance race. The first gracia the day it was i. I'd have to go back and look it up. But i'm pretty sure was lady secret. The annual miss a nice little wednesday midweek stakes race with a horse like the one. I just could get past that with -sconsin that day -sconsin ran well but bells. The one rim better coming off of that or for four. The trip salad workouts at arlington leading into this just seems like yes..

"Size field for for one to sink my eighty capping feed into and I lean more toward the to square price. I thought might be able to get a nice Rail trip and you know saving ground and on domani service always a at an angle that the jockey trial practice. He gives us a better chance to win it. It's a it's a very tricky sequence as it happens and that includes the the feature the first level allowance a mile and a quarter on the grass on the inner turf. Course so it's essentially a single circuit and this is this is brutal Tony dutch row has got that three. To one shot high opinion. Joe bravo gets aboard and high opinion. I guess nominally is is the worst to beat Chad's got one coming out. of that Maiden breaker going back to april also At the trip the mile and a quarter. So you know higher truth okay in here but in beyond those two it the the next four Look about the same. you've also got graham motion. I north america try Made in italy this for aaron wellman's clips and partners. It's kind of interesting as got a series of just sort of nondescript works at fair hill so i thought the feature was was a little Was a little tricky. It's actually the co feature. Because the eighth has got the eighth has got a bunch going seven as well including some familiar faces. Like meals for jimmy. Jerkins and Centennial what was what was your other play before Before they actually do want to make a comedy series. I i look. I looked at all moist very strongly. I did quit. The horse on my list but I i still might play out of pocket. But the the number five jail journey a tough time last time out and The the steve asmussen's on enough of this horse. Actually go to don with this for so i really. This is a wake-up possibility. If you're looking to try isolate somebody with a five gallon. Jury tough trip. Last time should have been a trip to they all put in the third before the pick six starts at just the maiden special these are two year olds and is a. It's a six pack. There is some reading here and curious. Just kind of funny chad brown. And seth clark have got gerrymander a three hundred and seventy five thousand dollar into mischief and it happens to be A sibling a half to lone rock. Who won the brooklyn on saturday. And you've also got a sibling. Here is it Let me see is it Is it the five velvet. I think is at velvet sister or is it amazing dream. Somebody else it's Velvet sister the five the stonestreet half a million dollar bernardini That's a half to My boy tape. Who was a very nice new york bred as well. This is a new york bread. That michelle nevin And godolphin co bread together. So that's an interesting third. We're in the second kid chocolate little bit tough He's he's down. The pecking order. But i should run right manny back aboard so safe trip the manny and and the kid today in the second rich rich jiang everybody rich and for pro peck race day las vegas dot com for riches daily analysis and getting geared up of course for the end of santa anita and the start of of the del mar summer rich. Good luck today. i appreciate it. Thanks steve next week. You got it rich and everybody. Nick casado top. Tony black dick powell and ray arsenault the new one of the two new. Nhc fame members. "Way burn. Of course we know about these. Tough as nails. Jimmy jerkins got pedigree to turns for. Sure gonna run all day from the family You know. Put us of family. That allen jerkins. His father had great success with So i love. I love the whole family again. He's still gotta go gotta go to turns but he's definitely going to be one of the horses to beaten here and you know candyman rockets. Total total question poorly. And you know what does he. D- finished second to him in the tampa bay. Derby ran didn't run well so i don't know that was. That was a very slow rate but then again no. No agenda was in that race but it didn't know running. It ought to less than a mile and made up eight links and less eighth of a mile. So i i just don't know how good candyman rocket is certainly wouldn't play them in here. But if i if. I had to make a a make a bet to look for price in here. I don't know i don't know i probably put some kind of bet on dynamic one just as price and risk-taking would be solid horse to meet tibet in here because the other horses you you think again you guessing guessing brooklyn strong. When the words. I thought you guess guessing prevalence can run big in his first stake race coming so so race and and i would definitely wavering. Bet y'all make all year by the way was rayburn with his.

"His time. And the guam walks through the woods. And i mean he does a phenomenal. Jimmy just a terrific guy. I had so much fun down there in the sense of history and camden. You know you're going to see mickey prager junior. And then his dad coming out because i used to ride a lot for mickey senior and just terrific people terrific course people and there's frank white these old barn and ruffians and that stall and forego is in that saw it's very enchanting place if you love our game and love horses just kind of wander around there and feel that sense of history back to For minutes who the cross country. Because i do want to let people know about What What was a terrific score for a player and of course the cross country has got the low takeout the fifteen percent but the key to it is that it's strictly for retail players. There's no no wholesale no group Action and a player for two hundred and forty dollars put together this ticket To be the only winter on saturday in the cross country one hundred and eight thousand Took down the the whole pool. Three by five by eight by one by four and so he went three deep In in the first leg silver state and you know chances are probably silver state and harpers I ride i would guess. And maybe night ops right the second leg you did have a modest upset and he went five deep and that was smart. I went three deep and me hosts ends up running down secret rules at six to one for jimmy jimmy jerkins and centennial's me house pays fourteen forty in that second leg. The third leg was the allowance that looked really inscrutable. As it happens this we'll talk tomorrow with popho and we'll do some recapping of the form to win Plays special reserve stood out. In a couple of different places he stood out on third graph and he stood out on form to win eight to one. And this guy this player when eight deepen here special reserve who. I keyed off of as well as pop. Oh wins the race and pays eighteen. Twenty the player rich singled sadie lady in the correction and that that was a very clever angle. I mean sadie lady was you know was certainly one of the ones that could win but to single there was pretty daring and she pays thirteen rob actress and then came the temperance hill and he found carlos l. and the horse should never have been forty seven to one but still he was not the easiest horse. If you're building a ticket and depending on your budget he went. This guy went four deep. And you know for me. I went to deep. I used lone rock. And i used treasure trove and i thought lone rock was going to go right on by and alex. Kent shari congratulations to him and to mac robertson and to the good friends people. Will you know what tomorrow will Will get rene douglas on You know the good friends team this ask right. Would this horse would not let lone rock. I mean lone rock was out know was getting out a little bit but still cherry at some job to hold the source together. Ninety seven forty to win the temperance hill and one hundred eight thousand dollars to this one player. Wow that's some score. That's very cool You know. I guarantee you. That rene knows Ruben i'm sure that he and ruben a friends You should ask him about ruben. He'd be okay what he'd be a good guest. Talk to ruben about that ear. All right i. I'm glad this came up. Because i i it's funny. I talked to renee about a month ago. you know. "To turns and he hasn't even been through turns yet but back. Then i'm saying this is to turn horse and for him to win at a flat mile like that way he did so he could be a really really good horse. Unfortunately for some reason There's no third rail numbers yet on that race. I got. I got all the numbers except for that race but i looked at bris net. Numbers he got fast. He got a better number. The knife is good. I'm chris that he got a one. Zero four and life is good one zero three so i don't know i'm really looking forward to seeing the third ref number on them. Just just just out of curiosity she she. They went with them. You know raggy ragusa number was okay not great. Not bad okay But i think this is gonna be dynamite. Going going to turns. I just i just want you just want to see jimmy jerkins derby. I wanted to win window. I get the sense i mean. We'll talk to jimmy the first chance we get but You get the sense that it's not even close to a priority. The they'll deal with the would make a decision afterward but of course he was more interested. They they seem more interested in the belmont. I mean that's been there you know. That was their immediate response in the meantime. Here's chad and and crowded trade kind of jokes in it. The quarter that was that was a terrific way to follow up the maiden win from and he's more than ready out of a jump start maher. He's got kind of a middle distance. Feel to him but We'll see what he can do. Go into turns and then highly motivated will go on and the also sitting with risk-taking that was my risk-taking. I've had ranked. I've had i've had risking ranked like number five and six Since the weather's. I'd like everything about that horse But highly motivated. I wrote is my. That was my under the radar performance. People aren't gonna pay much doubt much attention to it..

"You'll get his chance in the bluegrass next but buddy ran fine. But i'm still not convinced. That's what he wants to do And as for You know ask for freedom fighter he just showed you want no part of going long And the rest were were well back There's there's some fun Portions of this story. You mentioned with jimmy and and you know it. It's just so it's so. Jimmy jerkins lake for him for the first reaction to be Well yeah we're going to run in the would and and then we're gonna you know. Probably think about the belmont. I mean and of course you know the horse himself even has some ties to his own lineage. Because this is the family of sky beauty right. Yep which is very. Yeah exactly very calm. But i mean you know. Jimmy father You know it doesn't. His world doesn't revolve around the first saturday. May the horse you know. They have a horse to takes them. There they'll go but they're not going to force a square peg into a round hole and they wanna have a good summer and fall and obviously as a four year old. So i if he takes them they're on. I'm sure they'll go but you know what he's definitely on the one step at a time. schedule at this point. The other the other portion of this of course is not the chiefs would wouldn't be interested in winning a derby but the intermediate summer goal was gonna be the queen's plate. Mean you would think that. But they said that they want to try.

You guys figure out what you're going to do and it's almost like a game chicken if you're if you don't blink. The other guy has a tendency to play. I you win now and then from from the fool The start of the stakes sequence butcher here with the three year old fillies and You had essentially. Everybody was put on the on a not the defensive because they didn't go all that fast but Miss brazil eric cancel. Give him credit for you. Know for grabbing the lead from the inside with miss brazil For tony dutch row and Have your castellano one on chad's on the clarify second time starter and got her engaged right away and stayed within you know within easy reach and that was a thrilling stretch drive was and and again they were forward. They got their position I think obvious really you know proved just how good she is to do that in her second start and and play. Miss brazil's game. Who i think is very talented. Nice to see Anthony nutro you know. Have some good horses again. A guy that just another terrific trainer you till we talk. Jimmy jerkins his dad alan. Will you know.

"McGee Jay Brennan and Dave Greg Good Morning the hard act to follow right there well. I think you're up to it and much like we did with Jay. Hey we didn't get a chance to talk last week. Day I saw some of your thoughts on paper and on twitter but quick hit from last weekend the Jockey Club Gold Cup Diku and everything that came with it didn't agree with the call but that's par par for the course for me and the stewarts here good rates by both horses of Abu kind of the call takes away from the performance of both you know Roseville in sort of honor. I thought it was Kinda. Overshadowed what how well they ran I thought it was in solid effort. You know Roy Moore your skin and people give them credit for so he's tactical enough that you're going to go back to the race. In California that he won he was four why but right up on the pace so he can be he can play from the start and still finish finish which is a good thing for him to have going into the classic and Code of honor you know stepped up against a couple of quality older horses and and still continues to show improvement as Shug shoveling transfer your kid and I'm glad they didn't go into stuff. it'll it'll spice it up a bit very much and we talked to show yesterday what turned into a was supposed to be a you know. Tell us about the decision ten minutes turned into forty because because show and you can talk about the current horses and then you can talk about his Breeders Cup record you know he's he's run horses in the Classic Eight Times. He's got two seconds and third and I asked him if he thought you know this was as good or the best one of the best chances that he's had in a classic and he kind of feels it is I think so in part because he's got a quality improving horse and in part because I don't see a real stand out in the division there you know I I was even if Mackenzie had one last week is still affected him at a mile and a quarter. I think come back with a pack a little bit and now I think he's you know emit commit pack there. I you know he he he was not impressive last week and and right now he doesn't have a jockey so that could be a hindrance so I I think the the you know I I think the visual the classic is releasing. My is right now pretty wide open well it it certainly enhances the classic and we got some. Jay's thoughts will also wait for some other news in decisions. Tacitus you know who I could send as many as three with a late and Yoshida. We'll see what the tacitus call is but have you talk to Jimmy later in the week about preservationists. I don't think the preservation and the clock berry good yeah. I kind of. They were Iffy iffy. Even before we got through the jockey there pretty traditional people. You Know Oh you go to the classic going for a good race. You don't go you don't travel cross country now. It's in your own backyard. Maybe maybe say okay. I'm hearing but the put him on. A plane ain't off that race. just doesn't make any sense to me and. I'm not sure what it was tales right now. I wouldn't be surprised if maybe they they just you know. Have you know conclude are dealing. Just say thank you. Thank you for the memories. They were well some other thoughts thoughts about the weekend the the two year old swept by Chad Brown and not necessarily by Chad Brown surfers Dave that were all that highly regarded regarded coming into the early fall. It looks selflessly ran a decent race when she got in her debut. She was a bit why she was just what about a half length behind her stablemate and you know. She got a very nice trip. The other day and you know you beat a field that I didn't necessarily I think was seller but that didn't necessarily like her either so I can't you know I'm not saying that I choose my choice but look it's very you know. Handicapping is hard art. When it comes to the Grillo it's simple to spend on Chad Brown. It just just do it. Does it seven and eight. I've never seen I've Nev- I don't know of any race that he may be bad for our security security and and and dumb or something that just a guy dominates the race like Chad Brown at least in New York dominates the race Jeff Brown dominates the Mus Grill and just you know next year when it comes. I'm just circle the Chad. He's got more the ones at about boxing and you'll walk out with a little more money so any payment structure solid rates you know. I I liked about structure that he showed you different dimension in the first race. It was a slow pace. He was up on it and then he finished and then they got a bit of a faster pace and close close so you like versatility show. I need to know more about what else is in that race before. I say an annoying Kim and enter a the you know a victory in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turpin juvenile fillies served interesting I said they were aware of it at the time but selflessly not nominated to the Breeders Cup now looks set clemens got that money hidden in his closet somewhere so he can easily put up the supplementary see but it it was a weird kind of a strange thing maybe just crack but be supplemented for the raiders stuff to run and I'm sure she will do well. beyond the two year old stakes stakes midnight zoo in the Belle Dame and got you got you got her legs stretched and did what was necessary. The race as that ended up surprising to some degree aside from everything that went on in the Gold Cup four Horsfield in that Vosper that ended up being really exciting and forensic fire and imperial put on some show down the stretch cool horses you know he's still still Harvard have trouble taking that race threatens fire and last year the parts race horse averaged one the rate just a cool towards I mean that's a super cool horse right there in so small but he's got such big hardy so fast and you know I think they call it a little bit adviser prize when Friends Fire Collared Him and he still had something more to offer and he gave it to him and you know maybe maybe hard race before the Breeders Cup will help him in the Breeders Cup opposed to a couple of cakewalks that he had especially last year Vosper. You just walked around there and now last year Frears Cup. Chances may have been compromised the fact that he just doesn't run it and go to Churchill downs I mean I think he's on there three times. The probably three worst races throughout the worst rates is I thought he may well enough to del Mar a few years ago when he was in the Mitch Breeders Cup and second. I believe but maybe there's hard rates will help him. battle tough because it's a tough rate expensive very very competitor's. Maybe one or better rates on the car to the totally and chance a lot on you know. I guess you have to see what Omaha beach that rates for tomorrow how he runs. A and B what they use it for work. the the the sprint has potential to come up here one of the best races on the card and I think that race will have imperial head registered. Well turn our attention attention to tomorrow and there's a lot there's a lot of intriguing match-ups paper going into Saturday at and there's actually a nice set races on Sunday with the thirty the flower bowl in the present. We gotta start with Champagne and a green light. Go Ah to forego the hopeful. After the track was a a a slop. I don't blame Jimmy Jerkins at all for taking that route however he comes into the champagne now having to go a mile and there are at least is three others that are are major players here not the least of which is Barkley tag and Saka Toga the last time they had a two year old like like this. They kept funny side against New York breads until going to Florida for the holy bull this time they're going to go for an early open company opportunity the and it's at the highest level the first thing. I want to say that this race is there is a major scratching the race three technique. Jeremiah texted me this morning and I put it up on twitter a little while although has a lung infection and we'll come out of the race and I thought he was a significant player in the field so it's down to six source field going at that. Tis The law law you know of course is very impressive. Beating New York reds first time out had shin issue that Barkley took care of list about three weeks total of training but it's gotten back in I saw I saw at least two if not all three of his three of his works here and they're very solid workout you just wonder if the layoff going a mile with the one rate is going to happen ready to do it now. The layoff is very similar to green like oh the day difference so it's not that sort of balances out but green go with tested in stakes company and also has races opposed to one and I just like I just really liked it. I I don't know what he's going to become. I don't know how far is GONNA WANNA run but I just like the way both starts getting solid well built for uh-huh hardy type of horse who just has a great hind end you know where the power generated from and I think like the mile and beyond and I think this has a moment for Jimmy. Sake that the horses say how down and continue on the campaign Jimmy. He says out born whatever that might be but I think it'd be awful strongest training like that rate.

At the Races With Nick Tammaro

"Churchill getting started would bind with they're the first really too big weekends they also course got the international later in the meet later in the fall and and that brings in some international shippers this woodbine mile just the mile either northern dancer the more you look at it. I thought was was was intriguing and there's plenty of other a lot of stars on the card including Holy Khaleda and pink Loyd. WHO's I I for a horse? That's one like twenty seven in a row. Nobody seems the talk about him or pay much attention to him. Bob Tillers streaking sprinter and here's a streaking sprinter victim Rio depends on where the sprint destination is. I think might Tapei at times but shop racing form a yes to the windows. Definitely Pink Floyd is is really sort of a marvel in terms of how he's performed well routinely I of course needed him to at least be third in this race last year in the contest and finished fifth so the pink floyd stop it will be nowhere near Wreck Stale Ontario and so his chances tomorrow we'll probably increase exponentially. He's in the early. They put the bold venture early on the card actually in fact when I went to the stakes together and put them up Derby Trail Oh. I didn't even look that that early on the card so I didn't even have to go back in fact I don't know if I did go back and put it up but there are a couple couple of very nice horses here including Carlin's honor the Jack Oxley Breezy York good old Yordan approaching half a million dollars for a chiefs would and Stewart Simon you know a lot of your a lot of your local players in the sprint scene but pink Cloyd is now twenty one twenty six and it really was late last year September October that he started to show some some frings signs of tiring and Kinda sputtered out at the end of the year could. Could he be beaten in here. I don't think so no it looks like he's he's back where he needs to be and I don't really know I guess other than Caroline's honor who's supposed to be particularly big threat to him in the spot so he he should get the job done. I mean it's always nice to see good. Horses do Well York than obviously was in much better form coming into this last year having run a good second pink Floyd Royd individual and and that was also during a period of time where pink floyd was having a really hard time getting out of the gate so he's a little ornery for a seven year old gelding and he had a little bit gate trouble really about four or five races in a row going into last year's bold venture he he's not he still not they really particularly the obedient or when it comes to getting out of the gate or being trained for it but he's definitely a little bit better spot with that right now so I think given that he's he's inform and should be sitting right off of the of the pace. If you worked in may be line to the front end. I think he should be okay before we talk about the Canadian the end the grade to which does start the cross country and will incorporate the pebbles and the nightcap at Belmont Nixon thoughts about last week at Belmont. We talked about this Jockey Club Derby and oaks and the Grand Prix. I talked to Andy on Tuesday. The Grand Prix was oddly contest than I thought but some some quick hits on opening the opening salvos at Belmont. I guess guess I'll try and keep it as charitable as possible. Given I took my shots at it last week but I think they played out largely. How we expected decide thought was a pretty impressive winner of the Jockey Club oaks overcoming? I think by all counsel was a pretty negative pace setup and winning is much the best running down Wonderman who I thought probably got a little bit more the run of the race and the American contingent as we expected in that race as well as the Jockey Club Derby were pretty much no shows and it could also be that the American continuing is pretty thin out by now. We'll talk about the pebbles and a little bit but the pebbles is going to be the ninth race for one hundred thousand dollars or more for three year olds fillies on turf going back to June sixth six and that's insane so the ranks of American horses that are ready to go a mile and three eighths early in September. We're really not very not very robust and and that proved out on the lady side and I thought Spanish mission I I actually thought he was totally out of position and thought that he was about to have a Jamie Spencer Special before he was able to overcome it and get the job done so a little bit. I know that the horse was capable of overcoming his writer. I I would imagine he he should be one of the better distant sources that we could potentially see over here next year given that he's going to be off now until the spring and there's just obviously connections that have problems shipping over the Grand Prix North American Jockey Club invitational brought to you by whatever most pretentious name of all time that was one of the most oddly run races I've ever seen first of all. I don't know how the hell everybody knew. Marconi was winning that race for fun and then to watch the riders of both realm and roaming union gather a hold of their horses so strongly almost as if they were waiting for Marconi to catch up and take the lead after he blew the break so that he could go one sixteen flat it was basically sort of the epitome of what we complain about left and right about American American dirt racing right now and you know in this day and age of sort of turf occasion of American racing where everybody points to turf races races are run like turf races. It's almost as if one horse makes the lead all the other guys say okay well. They're the pacesetter we're just GONNA go ahead and sit back and wait for them to come back to us and the majority of the time on the dirt that just doesn't happen even so shockingly Marconi was able to set a pedestrian pace and and went on with it and I I obviously would not have been a big fan of his at the price he went off often. We talked about how it looked like a bit more competitive race on paper the other todd pletcher trainee your to blame. I thought ran pretty well. He was able to stop the pace on the inside but you know I don't y horse like roaming union was in there if he wasn't GonNa GonNa contest the pace especially given that he's from connections like Michelle Navin who generally have a pretty decent idea how to win dirt racist so that was is a little bit of a head scratcher. you know look my personal opinion is that if there's any thought given to this turf triple. I really hope that same amount of money is committed to a dirt program and trying trying to incentivize horsemen to get there and run on dirt more frequently really try and build up the claiming ranks again because it's kind of embarrassing through the first three days of racing. I'm I'm sorry through the first three days of Racing Belmont there were seventy eight horses total entered to run on dirt and there are over seventy eight horses enter to run dirt in the first day at Churchill so I if the same number number of races and and that's that's not good. That's a big big problem that creates a big problem in the winter so that's my hope for it as it is. I guess we'll see probably a little bit better from Spanish mission in the Diese Lisa next year well we turn to Belmont today and into the weekend a couple of very good maiden races actually as part of that card and maybe we'll touch on them but let's let's look at the cross country pick five and it is comprised of of the three three of the stakes would bind the Canadian the mile and the northern dancer that you know you the top of your head. You wouldn't have thought it the three of them were as complex as actually I think they are and then the pebbles and the turf sprint claiming nightcap the eleventh at Belmont so let's start with the Canadian you know this is an interesting field the and really they'll competition. Idea should probably go off a pretty solid favorite. I don't really see how tactically you could make a real stand with her and she's a horseshoe. Obviously needs to lay back and make one run and you know those types generally at the mercy of the pace and this race does not look like it's going to have really any pace speak of so so she's going to have to overcome that now. I will say that you'll Rosario getting back on board to me feels like a very good thing. It does seem like she's just a little bit better horse when he's John Her but now the flip side of that is that we know Joel style. He's GonNa take her back and let her make one run so I mean they're they're going to. There's going to have to be some pace in here that you can't really foresee and I guess the hope is that Dixie moon and or starship do believe maybe show a little bit more speed than they have before. That's if you're back competition of ideas with any great fervor because obviously what this is shaping up as a situation where Holy Helena has a big tactical advantage on the other favorite and and she's been effective at Woodbine in the past. You look good winning the dance smartly last time Jimmy was giving a little bit of time since and I think she's a horse that that will really get the run of the race and and that's GonNa make her toffee. This could be a situation where on your your pick five. You're really leaning on those two pretty heavily and maybe you could give a little bit of a nod holy Helena on one one more additional ticket. I did want to try and make a case for to Riga and my hope is the Tyler Galileo. Maybe a little bit more aggressive with her than Johnny. Velazquez was was last time he finished just length and a half behind the competition of ideas did get into a little bit of trouble amazingly. She got into trouble in the three-horse rates which it happens of course and with a little bit cleaner run maybe second off the off the layoff off the ship in we can see some improvement grim oceans been a little the little laid back with her she she ran on July twentieth didn't work until August thirty first but might be one of those horses that can stay fit without doing that. I I'm always very very in tune and was looking at his horses in these kind of scenarios as they they generally overperform relative to their odds so I'm GonNa go ahead and include Theresa's well the and will include could starship jubilee more than likely those two has backups because I think they each offers some appeal at what should be better prices than the two chalks should note that ah Jimmy Jerkins after sending Holy Elena opt for the dance smartly basically is as left her there and oh my Gosh the stronach trainer but my Woodbine what is yes thank you Mike Doyle. Mike Doyle has been handling and Jimmy is on TV with seth deny after after precision is one and he told the story about Jimmy said he got the notification is it is stable mail all that Holy Helena had worked Labor Day weekend and so gets the notice he opens it up and Airy Jerry Sees Holy Elena six longs one eleven and three Jimmy said got on the phone to this is Mike what's going on up there and he said I really don't worry though or she did it easy. Did it easy the track was the polly was slick. It was cold or whatever yeah what eleven at three and you know what I did. I brought up with Jimmy that great story that is his father told about Bo purple and going out to Hawthorn for the Hawthorne Gold Cup on Tuesday the race as was Saturday and on Tuesday he gets a call from a Chicago sportswriter and said Jerkins. I wanted to ask you for comment about outvote purples work and said what about it. He says well he he he went a mile in one thirty. Two and three Korea broke the track record or mile. I think he went to violent at eight and broke the track record. What what forty seven forty six shades or something and and and Jerkin said you know? I'm sure he'll be fine and sure enough. He went out and won the Gold Cup but that was funny. One one eleven and three
