Ravens Lose Marcus Peters, Gus Edwards to Season-Ending ACL Injuries
"Breaking news. I have some unfortunate breaking news. According to an rappaport the ravens cut short practice today after. Cornerback marcus peters and running back gus. Edwards sustained potentially significant knee injuries on back back. Plays have another running back back to back plays. They think gus edwards might be out for the entire season. Whoa they've lost that entire backfield. Well they just signed lemme on bell so it's like are we gonna see him now. This i mean that is devastating and back to back plays like what is happening over there greg. You mentioned how weird and strange and somewhat sinister their camp was. I mean it is extended with a with a huge hammer. Punch right there. I mean that is. They have no running back. It's insane. they've had a terrible time of it. This is why it's like. They shouldn't ask the lock or nfl. Dot com predictions. Because it's like okay. Now i got the browns in the playoffs mark. There you go that. I'm not trying to make light of it it. It's thinks because for many reasons but it's there's a point where you still do need a running back. They like tyson williams. Who showed some things. We don't know much about him. a second-year player. But he's now in theory would be your lead guy and you get some other guys off the street and left bell to their practice squad right right and they said he may be active. Active society probably will be especially after this injury. You probably not giving them a lot times. But marcus peters is the bigger injury here because as good as their secondary is i. I did think they were a little more vulnerable this year. If even one guy goes down. And now jimmy smith. Who's been banged up and marcus. Peters you start to take away a lot of pieces man. The raiders are catching the ravens at the right time

"President. Joe biden has issued some strong words for the state of texas which has effectively blocked all abortions from taking place now the language and the law that took effect on september first bands abortions past six weeks but eighty five to ninety percent of women. Don't even know that they're pregnant at that point now biden called the laws novel enforcement structure which allows private citizens to bring civil suits against anyone who assists a pregnant person seeking abortion a bizarre scheme with the potential to unleash. Const unconstitutional chaos. He continues to write in a statement. Complete strangers will now empowered to inject themselves in the most private and personal health decisions faced by women. Now the question is what is the executive branch planning on doing. What are congressional democrats planning doing remember. Democrats have majorities in both the house and the senate. Obviously joe biden is a democrat. He controls the executive branch so they do have some options but biden was vague when he said this. He said he was launching a whole of government effort to respond to the law. Tasking the department of health and human services and the justice department to see what steps the federal government can take to ensure that women in texas have access to safe and legal abortions. He said the effort would be led from within the white house but he didn't really offer any other details and That's concerning because it sounds a lot like what he issued in the form of an executive order with the problem of gun violence in the united states. I am going to fund commission to study gun violence. In this case he's talking about you know Tasking the department of health and human services and the justice department to see what steps the federal government can take. It's really not that difficult. One of the easiest steps is do away with the filibuster in the senate and codify The ability for women to have abortions in this country safely

What Is a Breakthrough COVID-19 Infection?
"Dr Deborah and Mulligan, professor at Nova Southeastern University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is board certified in pediatrics and emergency medicine as welcome our dear doctor. Good morning, Jimmy. Let's talk about little bit about breakthrough infections. I think I saw that about 83 85% of the people hospitalized in the state of Florida. Were not vaccinated, but there are some And that's the breakthrough infection. Right? That's what we call it. Tell us about this. Yeah, sure. So, you know, we had a really good vaccine driven strategy for the vaccinated. It was supposed to be a worry free, hot back summer of socializing and fun. That was before Delta. You know, this tough, formidable folks spoil their plans and rising covid breakthrough infections. Among fully vaccinated is a reminder that these vaccines are not a silver bullet. Nor is the mask a full proof invisibility cloak. So let's define what is the definition of vaccine breakthrough infection for our listeners. It's the detection of SARS Kobe to RNA or antigens. Collected from a person more than 14 days after they completed recommended doses of covid 19. So I have had patients who were diagnosed with Covid Illness, but they hadn't been fully vaccinated. So, for example, maybe you got the first shot. It was a week later, they hadn't got their second shot. So Jimmy, these vaccines are intended to prevent severe illness. That was the end point, and they're doing that. They were not intended to prevent spread 100%, although they were pretty marvelous until you know Delta came along. These vaccines are working as expected there, bolstering memory B cells, protective D cells and antibodies to protect us from severe disease. They're doing that.

It's usually the result of like some sort of trauma to the sara bellum so like what kind of history does jimmy have that he can no longer tell what time it is or how long it's passer. Perhaps this was from a stroke or a seizure of some sore. I know we have to consider all this in the differential. We really aren't given enough information to make a firm diagnosis. So i'm just doing the best i can. In addition to the inability to mark the passage of ours and therefore tell time effectively. If you have this disorder you're also gonna have issues with space spacial recognition and with short term memory. And i really think that if you if you're familiar with more songs from jimmy buffet. This is all starting to come together. There are other songs called things like. Who's the blonde stranger. I heard i was in town. If the phone doesn't ring it's me. I used to have money one time. Nobody from nowhere. She's going out of my mind. That's rough and where's the party. Where is the party. can't find it. Everybody celebrates the song. And i just. It's hard for me. It's hard for me to understand fried it too too awfully depressing. Thank you folks for enjoying with us. The million some cheeseburgers plant us alison cheeseburger. I thought we get to the fast part. I'll share together. We're so happy that we got to sit here. And just kind of goof around and stare the music attorney bunker with you. Thank you to the taxpayers medicine. Sandra program thanks to jonathan golden cruise staff for making the show. Come together and ask us on the boat everything so thank you very much. Thank you for coming all the best. I love you so as we say every week on the show. My name is justin. Macaroni and sydney has always. Don't.

"You're gonna feel so bad when i tell you all that. I am concerned that this sports singer has dyscalculia. This is a condition that affects about three to six percent of the population. It involves some sort of dysfunction in the interpreter. Focus of the brain and it makes math very difficult so now don't you all feel bad. Don't seem to be feeling bad. Said it can resolve as we age. We see it. We diagnose it more in kids and sometimes it goes away but in some adults persists. And i guess for poor jimmy buffett. Math is continued to suck for him and his experience of math. Anyway has been hard ever since. It's interesting because we're still not sure. It might have something to do with the like how we actually like make concrete numeric characters and patients who have it can actually still do conceptual math without like an actual number. I think that's fascinating. And jimmy buffett wrote this song in his sixties. I very much enjoy someone who gets to sixty. They're like you know what. I still don't like math. I didn't like it earlier. I don't like it now. I'm going to write a song about that. Because i still don't like it and i've given it a big opportunity it's decades. I don't like math. Here's a song about it. Well but i think it's fascinating to think that it's not that he doesn't like concrete. Math are not that he doesn't like math. It's conceptual math. Might work for him. We just haven't found the right way to teach jimmy.

Hate me drafted into the best. Clash Abascal hasn't during the the old school Xfo when they ran and try to die for the ball. What was the one that used to bounce office? Remember the joke eyelashes you you have to look at her but through a hole in a paper plate. Just. How you look at it eclipse when a Grade School I remember. Oh. My God that was great team. That's awesome. She's like thanks. And I think at the time was like she was great but knows who she is I'm not sure if I throw her in like Oh she's taking over we can update I. What if we co hosted by Guy Girl? He's like they've done that before with. Dan Aykroyd Jane Curtain so I go. Let's try it. So we went to Conan O'Brien studio at the time over here where I am and we had a table setup and Tina I did a fake we can update we tried different sides of the desk. And the chemistry was there. It was right there and it was like it was like. It wasn't boyfriend girlfriend cameras. She was more like brother sister or like smart girl and like do feed do that like needs answers to the homework you know. That's kind of their dynamic and it was just fun and I remember like laughing and like support each other it was really great and We just we tried it and just took off and stay one like it worked. Your show the Jimmy Fallon show. My question is, do you still have guests? You get a little excited little nervous because you may not know him so well, but you're a big fan and then the follow up is, is there shown one out there or a few people that you're dying to have on your show but you've never had I was nervous having you on the first. Let me tell the story. Everyone listening to this podcast here I a big fan of Iraq for years and I was on probably late night I wanna say is when it or maybe us know when I first started seeing you yeah s no and then late night I, I think I made a couple of jokes about you. If I did I, take it was all in good fun. You're single at the time it was S. I would never say. All right look Jimmy. Go, the game and Lauren had these great seeds right behind home plate. Lauren have beer watched the and everyone would come out and I know that the team at this point you know and I think Maggie a little nod. That'd be very discreet pry Steinbrenner's price wave at the celebrities. Exactly. So no one. Yeah. But we learned get special training and you know because we're there all time we know everybody. So jira commanded would look anyway billy cleanse over me and give me a little not and then allies would come out I go. Rod. And he would just stare at me like. Like like like he wants to fight. And there was A. Cloth or whatever the net, the net the netting. Him. So I don't get it with the foul ball because my face is pretty and he would stare at me and swing as bad as artists. Good. What is? At. ME. Behind like what but then you would go up and you hit home run. So I think I was the reason for your great career yeah lecture. At least a few runs have you ever been back to the stadium as if fan you ever go and watch the game? Yeah. Last year early in the season I took the entire family we had gen and the four kids and it was it was awesome plus Jones from the Bronx I mean we're Yankee in a sweeter in the seat we were in a sweet, but then the kids are driving us crazy get down there. So we were right behind Lawrence seats did and we had six seats there and it was just Was Real. It was going to say I wanted to go with you. Would you ever go to a game? We should go this year we definitely should go you know. Orange. Threes a weird number to go. No, I think. I'd tickets. Magic also behind you guys. So all right wherever you tweet us from where you are. Yeah. Yeah. No variance. They'll be fine. I'll be in the bleachers. Fine stay home. Let us know you're having fun I wanNA. Make sure your I'll let you guys know I'm having fee safe I want you to be safe. We're going to get back to more Jimmy Fallon in a second but I want to talk to you guys quickly about our friends across country mortgage cross country mortgage is the best mortgage company in the world I, used to actually work in real estate mortgage is a scary word for a Lot of people, but it doesn't have to be when you use cross country March. "Thing in the world cut to I never made that money every until you know Sarah live. You get excited and I was like Oh. This is amazing. So I went home that night I was. So happy my friends from my school came to see me and the comedy club and I still have it on videotape and I was just so nervous and. And I remember just like I I was on. I just thought it was the best I was going to be easy from then on out and I started just joining a bunch of talent comp contests and talent competitions and I think two more after that. I. Won another one and then it came in second to another one a girl play the piano amazing beat me her name's cheese Oh. I. Know you don't hear about it I don't know what her name was, but not always when the seven hundred dollars, but also won an MC job at the club in Poughkeepsie, and so at the time, it couldn't even drive driver's license. So my dad would drive me to the club every weekend MC. Welcome to the club also work on my act and introduce all these comedians and I, had like looking back Kevin James, I used to work with. Lewis Black was great and I got to meet all these COMEDIANS and see their act and it was cool. It was like a really interesting thing for a sixteen year old kid to do and I was there like every weekend just working at my act and try to add different jokes and you know a lot of it was bad. But it was still working a lot of pressure and getting out there I'm sure. Petition and Yanks Handle. Some of the jokes are so bad. But then I remember went off to college and what is in college I started adding more to the active musical impressions. So I had a guitar and you had to play guitar. So it ed musical impressions of the troll dolls at the end of my act. So I did celebrities at the beginning of my act Trodellos at the end. So that would be another piece of advice for communities have a beginning and have an aunt The middle, you'll figure out the middle. You gotTA. Have a closer It's good to have an. People. Get to know who you are and you gotTa have a closer that crushes right close right. So you've got close finish. Yeah. So so you do all this you obviously have this goal, your entire life getting on snl you finally get it when you do get it. was there a feeling of I've made it like I'm good or how quickly like all right I need to actually stick around and make this work and and and reached my next goal because I always we always talked to people and really successful people when they hit that first goal just makes him hunger for more I think at the time I was good. Yes. Is it man? Yeah. I remember taking a picture of the elevator to my audition of the second audition for Seo because I go. I might never come back in this building right? This is awesome and if I even if I don't get this I, tell my kids. Hey, once auditioned for Saturday night live pretty good right there you know. So I really do I had one of those disposable cameras that you know the the Kodak wants to. Put into CVS and then way from the comeback. And so I remember doing that audition. Then it was the most nerve wracking one yet you go into the room and go. Are you Jimmy Fallon who's Jimmy founding? Yeah Okay. Well, you're up next don't be nervous but just let you know Lauren doesn't really laugh you know talking about Lauren Michael Oh while lien laugh says it don't let that throw you because there's only like five people in the room you're at innate age which you've been maniac no audience just four people and they're they're beaming you to Burbank to California. So the president of the network and watch as well while it's a lot of pressure, right? Okay. So then Hey going to hair make them like makeup. I mean never put makeup Monica. Okay. Great. So I go into hair and makeup. Jimmy Fallon guy goes well good luck to hear me great. But just you know Lauren doesn't really laugh. I. That's Great. Thanks for the advisors so then I. Go in about to go on, they put a microphone on under your shirt and they put a clip on the top. So they can. With Mike Pack so they can hear you and he goes Jimmy only go. Yeah. This is great. Well, good luck to you. Remember I told you but born doesn't really lag here. What's the problem? He's in the wrong business. As problem. So it was I got on stage and I did kind of my troll act I didn't do the trick but changes until like a celebrity walk-a-thon whereas doing different celebrities walking. For charity and I did you know again Seinfeld and Travolta but I added at the end my closer I think was sandler and this is just at the time when Adam Sandler would just left the show these brand he was supposed to go on for one more season but he was getting really famous and so I had an impression of Sandler And I remember was going. To so good to be a you know. WHO Did it. A little bit and Lawrence laughing. Is it. We put his head in his hands. Why made Lorne Michaels laugh and that was that was arrested was like slow motion. Kind of walking out like, wow you just coming off the field. Goals. Like Lauren question because. I have so much admiration for him and I know he's been a big mentor and Supporter of yours. So, first of all, what has he meant in your career and one or two or three things that make him such a special businessmen so disciplined. he he's meant everything to me. I. Mean Honestly I've seen He seen me at my best and my craziest too I mean when you get famous, it's weird. You know one. Play list there's no something. There's no book that you can read. This has become famous. You do this and that and this, and that's like you think you like I remember at one point I said to my agent. So I said don't send me anymore movies whereas be funny. I. Don't want to be funny in a movie I only want to do westerns. They're like. I WanNa read. Any romantic comedies me I. Don't want to be anyone's boyfriend. The thing I only want to be don't even send it to me. I'm just pass I just WANNA DO WESTERNS and they go World living they don't make westerns anymore you. I guess. So I never got they never sent me anything but I was so dumb in my head thinking that would be my I always wanted to get shot a horse on the white I mean it's pretty cool. I agree I think it's cool. But. They weren't making those things at the time so like but I mean I was getting offer like you know meet the parents all the stuff, but it wasn't even reading the scripts. I don't WanNa do this out. Of Western. It's not if you if a horse. I'll. Consider it. And now I look back I'm like I was such punk I mean, what was he doing? But Laura Macau talk me. and. He just had a clear vision news just. I don't know if it was calmer than anyone. I've met and I, think if you have that like calm cool like it's going to be like, I already know what you should be doing another right moves is a discipline. I mean it just seems like he's a machine he's seen it I mean he's he's been a writer. He's been a performer and then he's been producer for all these years and not just Sarah live is produced. Kids in the hall is produced Standup Special Produced Thirty Rock. He's they're all different writers, different people, different producers. He's worked with thousands of people and knows their egos and he did a play on Broadway that tricky to pull a playoff. It's so much work, right? I remember. One time we did. Something fell off the wall painting. I want some Kruger's like. Lauren what are we? GonNa do painting. Off The wall was even get the walgreens and longest just put a sheet over. The sheet will work. Okay and they put fine no one worried about. So what about you breaking character on us and that would he get Makasi notoriously doesn't like that and I've read that you also were mad at your cell phone would happen but you also probably new after a few times like this. Genuinely funny because people love to see other people laugh wasn't even. That, I was laughing because laughing at the out really learned does not like that he frowns on it and and so I was actually I was I was embarrassed that I would do it but it was the first one that I laughed himself was cowbell. It was a sketch that will Ferrell wrote with Adam McKay and it was about blue stor. Colt. Don't feel. That song and it's like actually is cowboys in that song? Yeah. I think someone thought that was funny because they're kind of a heavy metal band to have a Cowbell and instrument and your classic songs like wait. Is there a cowbell and don't fear the reaper? So then we should do a whole sketch.

"Is Jimmy Fallon host of late night with Jimmy Fallon a celebrity you know from snl you know him from late night with Jimmy Fallon. Thank you for joining us. Thank you for be I'm I'm happy to. Be here, and beyond the side of the of the couch with the interview I hope it's worth. Yeah Yeah because this is yeah. I wanted to score in what we'll give you a score. You've always have how many times they rodman on your show. At least something. I've never been invited, but that's fine. No big deal. You're here. Now you're in our goals man yeah. We're want to talk about everything. We're going to get to a million different questions, but let's start. At the beginning because I was doing a lot of research before this interview and by that I mean I was reading your wikipedia and. They also writing my with. Edited selective editing. I was struck by the singular focus that you seem to have basically from what five years old that you wanted to be on SNL. You talked about how when you blew a birthday cake you made a wish and said I want to be on snl true and you got to that point I want I talk about not getting it. So doing the audition and failing and then doing the audition obviously getting it. So when you fail the first time was there was it at all deterring of your skill where you're going the path to success it's definitely depressing. It's it's you know when you? When it's your dream your dream gets Kinda shot down I. Remember I was at the Comic Strip here in New York City, and which I've only maybe performed. Once. Before that and I was with the manager at the time who was great and. She was like don't be nervous. You know we're just GonNa do I think it was three minutes of standup. Comedian no three minutes is tough to get control of the audience. and. Crushing at the end, and so I did mostly impressions at the time that's all I wanted to do I want to be the next Dana Carvey. So I had to come up and my act at the time was a troll doll. I would do different celebrities doing commercial down trolled on. Do. You know Seinfeld going like what kind of does this does is, hey, you can't even move his arms what kind who would play with us though. It depends on no pants down you'll whatever. And so I did I did something around that and no one had any idea what I was talking about what I was doing. I didn't set up the bid at all I just remember it was just being depressing and I remember going on stage in coming right off and I was so. Flop sweat hot from flopping that I think steam was coming off when I got off like Oh and I remember going there was a diner next door and it was really like depressing we had a coffee and sat there. It's not the worst thing I. think he did. Okay because they got to see what you look like and Lauren was there was he there he was there and it just felt bad. and. I went back to Los Angeles because at the time it was living in L. A.. With roommates trying to take acting lessons and groundlings classes. So trying to learn Improv because what someone told me once is if you're a stand up comedian, you should take acting lessons in Improv classes. So he can learn how to work with other people because you're so used to being saved by herself. So it's like okay. So I was doing that had really no money. And Use. Whatever money I had from either doing a college gag or the Improv. If you did a set at the Improv of seven dollars and twenty five cents a Gig. This is what nine hundred, Ninety, seven. Yeah. Yes. He's sixty seven. Yeah. Okay. Jimmy win against the Lorne in a minute because he's such an amazing guy and leader and a friend of ours. You have so many fans out there young man young women that want to be funny and WanNa have a career in comedy, but it's hard and it's difficult and. Challenging and depressing at times my question to you is what we tell young listener. If you want to be funny took about three minutes or whether it's twelve minutes, what are three or four things that are must do's for young comedian. I mean. You, you know you got to know your fans. That being said, my mom was my biggest fan. So I knew if I told the joke, she would laugh that makes you feel good to build your confidence. So you got to know your audience I think I wouldn't be. Without my mother supporting me and going Oh Jimmy go over and do would joke listen listen to he does. Rodney. Dangerfield. Right okay. My wife Cook and so bad. When toast how booms? Do his whole routine. I was probably twelve or eleven. GimMe like fifty cents or a dollar, and she loves that my dad loves it to my grandparents very supportive people. So I mean, they really helped me and gave me the confidence fact my mom. Told me about this contest that changed my whole career I I There was a contest on the radio One four was the station and they said like we're looking for the funniest person in the Hudson Valley. So either do an impression of somebody two minutes or three minutes to do it. Oppression of anyone, you'd be the funniest battle Hudson Valley. and. So I said my Mongo's she she she goes is knocked him unconscious Jimmy I think you should join this context. I. Buy. Room at the time I hear all the voices you doing you hear everything in my say yeah, I go. What else do you? I go. I go or maybe I'll I'll join this concert enter this contest. I was seventeen time and I was a senior in high school. Those joking around with kids in my class and I was always the class clown and you know the comedian I love Comedy Love Sarah Life so much. So someone had given me a troll doll for graduation had a doll with the graduation camp. That's all it was like happy. Graduation we go. What does it? What does it sixteen year old boy going to do with this thing I have no do was six year old girl would do it. I don't know what anyone would do this. You put on your desk. Desk, trouser weird too I just interject people who are listening probably don't even know what they are. They're like a troll doll patrols on twitter. It was actually a doll with different hair. There were just trolls people for some reason decided in the nineties. It was cool. Yeah you've gone yeah. They made cartoon trolls. Based out of but it was yeah, it's it's I. Don't know people made wishes on them, but you could mess around their hair either way I had this thing and I go maybe I can use this from act. So I started doing different impressions of people talking about the dog I kind of started writing at home of. Bowing going. Well they would you look at, you know doing that and I did I think I had John Travolta. going. Like I can't leave style like I mean look at this thing here lick his hair lake who coil you got don't hit the hair I can Sam the. Would do something that you know and worked out like maybe fifteen impressions and so at the time he was big and so I said something about. I like to play with myself to something about something about play that joke ended up in was topic. Yeah at the time. Edgy. Yes. Yes see a sixteen year. Old Kid. Hit homers like that. And it was won the contest was seven hundred dollars. I'm GonNa say Nice Money I've ever gotten in my lifetime for three minutes of comedy and go if this is. This easy right I'm to be a billionaire this..

"You first go like interact with why been a big fan forever probably about fifteen years ago it was the first time I met him Probably. Visiting SNL or something like that. How we hosted SNL I haven't hosted I've been on a few times questioned by me. It's okay. What the Hell's Lorne michaels thinking. China. He he's a smart guy. How have you been on I've been on but like like five or six different skits okay. She's me. We would always do things with the Yankees preseason to have a little fun But yeah about four or five times how I'm a huge fan or maybe if it comes and goes depending on the cast but how when you were involved in that when you would do a skit how electric was it and is everyone basically like a mini Jimmy Fallon walking around being just the funniest Guy Yes. A lot of humor a lot of talent. Jimmy's just one of a kind that he's funny. But he's also like funny off camera. He's just a really sweet guy and I'm a huge fan would Michael's done there for the last thirty, five years it's been unbelievable but there is something really really special being onset on SNL. If you haven't done it, please get out to watch and bring your presidency with you. Yes. Absolutely. I also I think I mentioned this maybe. Beforehand to Jimmy before we started the show but So we take Jimmy Fallon again it was it was right before it was actually like the first time ever vividly remember people wearing mass and doing the pound instead of the handshake So it was right before corona virus it was like you know like early March we thought we were about to finish the season and then corona virus happened, but I mentioned Jimmy beforehand. My son who just turned one I started I bought his book Jimmy Fallon look the data books and his first word is data. So I had to give Jimmy Fallon shout out for that. "It was his three bedroom place and it was just me and Jimmy and we had full kitchen and we had like we just had time to talk and learn, and so I have one question about linked him how why is it to do the business part of linked into like grade to a business page? Can you share with a little bit about that 'cause? I'm curious. That question a lot and the simple answer is don't do it until I tell you tells you that you've maxed out the free version because what will happen is you're going to be hustling so hard on the free version and then they're going to say, Whoa, you have exceeded your commercial useless as what say, and that's a good sign that you're actually using enough to justify upgrading I. Like using self navigator by the way, there's a few different version I like using self navigator because the main benefit of it is that you can be again more specific about who you're targeting when you can make sure that you're targeting to based on their seniority level. The number of employees have their company people that are within ten miles of certain bit code. You can just be much. Much more narrow in who you're connecting with so. Our just wait until they've cut you off from the free version puzzled so hard on that version goal so that that that gives me some sites. So it's time to do that so. Excited that. So it's my time to do that and so Jimmy. Wow you tell people. Where they can connect with you and how they can connect with you and what that looks like an if somebody hears this and says, Hey, I, WanNa hire Jimmy I want at least jump on the phone with him because here's one of the things about Jimmy even though he has a team of people working for him, he wants to build those relationships that people he wants to know what people like I've been reading his stories of people who have worked are working with him and and and because we're mutual, we have a lot of Jimmy I have a lot of mutual friends..

The younger brother to now well all got Rabin was like you know everything. Jimmy I was like I can i. Can I go with you. Look down like crazy and to his credit that he was just like the nicest you know like the most inclusive person you could imagine. You know it's not that Nice though I mean you're not mean gene in a way that I could ever really register. We got dragged down the stairs while I was asleep a couple of times just to see if I wake number. That's a good one. AH CLEO WHO is. My bandleader grew up cross street from us in Las Vegas and he's a year older than I am so clean and I were always together and Jonathan was his kid. Who's you know like? I don't know six years old. He wanted to. You always say can I go. Can I go. Can I go and we used to sake say John you can come when hell freezes over. He used to ask my mother. When is hell freezes? We also came came up and I think Cluedo came up with this to a fictional character called the penis man. Yeah Chop Your Penis didn't do what you were supposed to do. Jimmy say if I was good because we'd slee he had like two different twin beds in his room and most of the time sleep in there and he was like bless the wall so that the penis doesn't come in the middle. I was an altar boy I was able to do that. I also also for many years maybe like two years. Jonathan was convinced that I was superman. And what I would do was I wouldn't have minded me here crew not. ooh I'd have my hair and a curl and then he'd walk in the room and I quickly mess it up just so that he wouldn't see the curl and he'd be like I saw the curl. Don't tell anyone the blue shirt we actually convinced are younger. Brother's friend that we were a family of Vampires. They come over and we literally would set up the most insane like serious like we had coffins the clause we made made these crazy continent and we had one friend like literally upside down on the rack like like on the ramp to like like sleeping upside down. It was lost. Boys was really big out. Can't wake you can't wake them their sleep. A kid was extremely namely gullible. Once we went when was the vampire phased ended. We we told them. We were going to launch space shuttle from the fucking basement and we put tin foil all over the basement and doors opening. And we're like little lights. I mean it was all about destroying destroys the whole it was. I mean we were creating which entertainers pretty much even though really I mean I never for now. I'm saying not not necessarily in an occupation but just in in your personalities it seems as though you Brooklyn everyone is an entertainer -tainer so we wound up in Las Vegas where people were kinda normal so we seem like entertain. Okay in a way yeah and we had an entertaining family and but like for me growing up up there was never a like. Oh I'm also a comedy person. I always love comedy comedy Geek and like like sketches. Then when did the bug hits. It's like for you. I are parents are mother for me. I think I remember distinctly a couple of things one of them is I remember. We're we're in Vegas and my parents are parents. Came Home and my dad was wearing an Arrow through his head and I said what is that he said. Oh we went to go. See this Guy Steve Martin. He's so funny. And I'd never heard Steve Martin and and then He. He bought the album at the show. And I think it was wild and crazy guy and and and is to listen to it secretly because this is not something my mother would have approved of me hearing but I'd listened to it over and over again and then they bought his book cruel shoes news which we would read. And they really were into comedy Mel Brooks and all of these these my mother's goofball to she was a man's it's hard it's funny and and like it all kind of stemmed from my grandfather who was always like.

Oh and he got Jim Johnston you. You guys have no equal when it comes to talks wrestling. No no in the to me. See The difference. Wells' is Jim. Johnson would get into a groove in sameness to it where I think that Jimmy Hart Art was able to. It's like when you get a good author of a book who can adapt the personality of the person they're writing about and when you read it sounds as if it's that person's voice and Jimmy Hart was able able to do that. I think in a lot of the music that he wrote the especially in the lyrics that he wrote that they were different. And it didn't always sound like hey. It's the same artist doing but Jimmy Har- along with his partner Partner's name is Jimmy to gamble. His name slips my mind at this point joint but they used to come and bring a little keyboard and guitar and we would sit in the back and the pre-tape room and just write songs songs. Write lyrics they would play in Jimmy and I would sit there and come up with lyrics and that was pretty damn cool. ooh For a kid from Houston Texas. Be Able to sit there and Jimmy would always be like. Hey Baby. I told them you were there with me. You know. Give me credit baby Jimmy delegate credit. I didn't get credit. Neither one of US care to just fun to hear the songs and into do that in the late eighties. He's Jimmy released a music album also on cassette tape titled Outrageous Conduct and the release consisted of comical songs. Done in character like Barbra Barbra streisand's nose and eat your heart out. Rick Springfield and a nineteen ninety-five cogan released an album called Hawk rules Jimmy as well as Hogan's Hogan's then wife Linda or part of the band. The wrestling boot band helped write and sing. Many of the album songs. What other jobs has Jimmy me done behind the scenes that we might not have heard about? Besides you know the musical themes and then being an answering manager because I know I did a lot of promotional. Don't work for the company says well you name it. Jimmy did it and if if it even entailed going out and hanging up posters. That's Jimmy Hart did. Jimmy was walking talking billboard that loved promotion and was a true promoter at heart so for Jimmy he was on all the time and there was nothing that he loved more than to promote wrestling and promote himself. and Get out there and do whatever needed to be done in. You never had to worry about Jimmy embarrassing you or the company or himself It'd be dead drank. It didn't smoke didn't do drugs and was very reliable and conscientious. If you needed something to be done you told Jimmy that this what we need to get done. You could go to bed knowing it was going to get done. Jimmy was was the rougeau manager when Jock attack dynamite kid backstage punt punched him in the mouth with a roller quarters earlier that day fence at a meeting with everyone and he told Jimmy it them and when Jimmy found him told them they weren't going to the meeting and if they don't see him again what a great manager he had been and Jimmy asked if they were leaving and they said they couldn't say but they wanted him to know what a great manager he had been for them and of course as we know they're out here in eighty nine. Jimmy Hart would bring Dino Bravo stable after the departure of Frenchy Martin talked a little bit about Frenchy Martin born. We're having spent a lot of time talking about him on the show and my dad egg discussing a G A dilemma. Todd Puerto Rico I. I up saying snip. SNIP DOT as pays DAB undenied Fred she was great. Because they're such such smokeout Amer get Puckett blasted Good the things you learn on the road. Don't try that kids they're different now. They're different now now. Check that out. there's a push up contest going on between. I gave that advice on time. Somebody tried it and they got. Yeah they got stopped but the funny thing about you. Know the funny thing about Jimmy being with Dino Bravo is I remember the TV v that. He got the news that he was going to be Bravo and he made comments. Somebody that It goes yeah. Yeah baby got the other said. They stopped stuck being Dino Bravo on the road stuck with Dino Bravo. What do you mean Jimmy? You're stuck with Dino you don't WanNa be with Dino. Yeah no no baby that's good. That's like Stockman we're stuck with like blue. We're stuck where we've just had a field day. Say for weeks about Jimmy being stuck with Dino Bravo in an him tilling dino. Nobody's you gotta get the check INS may be made. I'M GONNA have them next. TV It's GonNa be great baby. I love to be stuck with you. Man GotTa be and talking his way out of it and I don't know what the hell he a man but he did say stuck with rob you say Bravo sucked. I'm saying that Jimmy says he will suffer them skyline. uh-huh stuck with you. Thank God you are by the way. I know it's good. Maybe it's good. Maybe because we're stuck together maybe lower like you know like I'm rubber. You're saloon state those do as a push up contest in the ultimate warrior and Dino Bravo and Jimmy Hart and Bravo would invite a large man from the audience. There come sit on the back of the contestants and of course he's planted there by Jimmy and they eventually team up against the warriors earthquake in one thousand nine hundred ninety. Jimmy would manage earthquake in his feud against Hulk Hogan let's talk about you know since you said they start Casino Bravo. How's IT decided? Who went with Jimmy? The new guy sometimes requests him specifically he asked for guys isn't always creative. A third party decision. How does that come together? We usually look at look at people. See who needed a manager and won manager wasn't overloaded too much just personality personality more than anything where they belong and who could enhance that character. So that's what was in working with the talent as well. How much trump just the test? I don't see him with him. Oh it's that too. I mean it's just some of it's just the feel of if you think that the personalities are going to Jive or they're going to stick well together. Let's keep moving. Jimmy's GonNa continue to feud with with His Former TAG team the Hart Foundation to the point that in nineteen ninety actually combined the Honky. tonk man and Greg the Hammer Valentine into the short-lived Dream Team of rhythm and Blues Rhythm and Blues. Let's talk about Greg. The Hammer Valentine That Rosie o'donald haircut. What the Hell's wrong with? That was his hair. That was way that his hair was always cutting The little baby come on the the black hair. Come on. What's wrong with the black hair? Changing here was a guy who had been his whole career bleached blond hair same. Look same everything. Change him up put him with the Honky. tonk man ones red ones blues came from Rick Rude and and strikes and it's great. It's just tremendous when you go back and look at these pictures of greg in these elvis shades. And he's miserable. He's got on this jacket right. And so like this promo photos out there. Where he's getting ready for survivor series and he's teaming teaming with Honky tonk but he's got the full body suit on Greg's just got the jacket on both because he doesn't have like some sorta pant you know with his top it looks like he's naked behind the guitar and it is one of the most awkward wrestling quotas in history? A love of two shake. It looks like a jacket and nothing else. Yeah Yeah. The Qatar hanging just covered up the private as far as you know the the blues of the Blues ran by God. But the funniest part about that whole thing was a. I thought that the Gimmick was tremendous amandus because it gave new life to Greg Valentine and it was able to take two guys that he'd kind of just about hit at the end of their run and made them to completely brand new characters. Now you say okay. We didn't change hockey. No you put hockey team and you put on Kina team where he was a shining star with the grumpy Greg. That was just happy being greg. Valentine Valentine didn't want to die as hair black and wasn't a gimmick guy which is why it worked so well we did rhythm blues. Baby which is your champion of all time. Both of them right here. We should mention by the way as we've sort of glossed star with this. Jimmy Hart still working. Now he's seventy six years old amazing. Yeah Jimmy Jimmy is like Vince. He will not slow down in north stop until he is in the ground. I think. What's fascinating about? That is Jimmy. It's seventy six is is a sharp mentally as ever could not tell having a conversation with Jimmy like okay. Maybe you made him in personnel Jimmy. He's gotten a little older. Sure he doesn't look seventy seventy six by the way but on the phone you could not tell the Jimmy Hart seventy sixers rib and you're nineteen eighty from believable..

"Jimmy Jimmy was really starting to come into his own as a manager in terms of his presentation. He's wearing colorful jackets. Usually different wants for every guy he manages he's talking through a megaphone. He's getting lots of gimmicks here. Did you ever hear from Jimmy about you. Know the wardrobe changes or the megaphone phone. And and how this all came to be part of his act presentation because there are Kinda even to this day we think of Jimmy Hart crazy jacket and you think of the megaphone. The credit he goes Jimmy Hart in that regard because Jimi was the guy that looked at okay. If I'm going to be managing the Hart Foundation I need to have have a look for the Hart Foundation. I'm going to be managed Greg the Hammer Valentine again part themed then I need to have my own Valentine on deal I'm going to be of Dino Bravo I need to have the Florida lace all over The nasty boys all go all nasty. Get up whatever it was. That was Jimmy Hart Jimmy wanted and even his teams or his individuals all to have unique persona and for him not to just be Jimmy. Hart the same for all of them that Jimmy could be a chameleon and be a manager just for that guy or just for that team in that particular situation and that's what made Jimmy Different. He he would become a part of whoever it was that he was managing. Let's let's talk about the Honky. tonk man he comes into the WWF. As a baby face he's a friend of Hulk Hogan's least in storyline very quickly turned heel and put with Jimmy. I understand understand why they would put him with Jimmy that I guess make sense but let's talk briefly about Honky tonk man. Why do you think turned him so quickly? 'CAUSE wasn't getting over does it was as simple as that. They think in Vincent saw Honky Tonk man as this huge baby face. That was coming in Hogan's buddy so instantly it'd be a baby face. Everyone love them. All Contol angry I am very but it was so over the top and in a very arrogant way the audience puked him up and and they had no choice but to turn it. Or there's three or four things I can say they're Let's talk about Jimmy in Memphis. He managed manage honky and Kevin Sullivan their attack team. But he's not the first pick for Vince. McMahon's manager of choice for Honky tonk man. Apparently Mr Fuji of hockey didn't want that. So they put him with Jimmy instead. How different would the heart care with fucking Mr Fuji Honky? tonk man. Yes he gonNa do the shake rattle. Roll you yeah that would have been the Jerusalem sheets. That's the worst mischief ridge impression. I've ever heard thank you very much. June second nice eighty. Seven hockey would beat the Ricky the dragon steamboat the intercontinental title. And there's this big infatuation with Butch Reed lately that I guess people just not coming coming around to realize that Butch Reed invented net flicks and actually butch was a big part of Apple Computer's. I didn't yeah there. Were stay jobs. The other guy butchery and it was it was a threesome and uh butch was going to be the silent partner. When he went to Florida where he got over like a motherfucker and and he said you know what guys? I've got enough money. I've got an idea for this whole Netflix. Thing you guys go ahead and take. He didn't need time. Lower like a motherfucker floor. I don't know that you saw this but over the holidays Bush read because he's still with us as well I should it'd be celebrated he. He recently visited for the holiday the Virgin Islands and now they're just the Allen's Anyway let's get to. Oh yeah I read that too. I believe I mean with all that money. He's got I mean. I don't know that you know that. But he helped broker the deal for Vince McMahon to get the XFL back on TV. Of course you probably at the meeting you know So Ricky's supposed to lose the intercontinental continental title here to Butch Reed but butchery was busy inventing Netflix that day So he no showed Knowing that you know his fortune was right around the corner so they needed someone to beat Ricky and take the belt off of it because ricky needed time off supposedly hulk convince are talking about it in the hallway and Hawks Bah and supposedly hoax at what about him. And that's the legend of how the greatest intercontinental champion of all time came to be. How much of that? The believe is consumer in any window. I think it's probably fifty percent as like there may be some portions that the motive actually actually happened but it probably has grown into a bigger story than it actually was well. We know that Hawk is going to go on to be the greatest intercontinental champion of all time. let's keep all gone baby all time hockey starts doing a feud with The Macho Man Randy Savage Bridge which is what effectively turns rainy baby face and Jimmy said that one Tom Haughey did or a dance in front of Lisbeth and sent Randy off and hockey tried to explain. It was just Elvis type dance move and that caused some problems between them and because of that hockey refused to drop the title to Randy. Now this is all all new wrinkles stuff. I hadn't heard before that supposedly there was a real life situation because honky was doing some sort of Elvis impression dance and gas S. Randy thought he's trying to get with Elizabeth in real life. I'd never heard this before as your this before. No I and we just before. Jimmy says that Eventually he would be the one who helped get randy into the company. That's worth a rewind. Randy's Randy's working in Memphis Jimmy. Gets a hold of him tells him. Vince really wants them in the company and Randy and Jimmy meet the next day. Jimmy gives him George Scott's number and the rest is history. Talk to US shirt doctors. A little bit about your recollection because I know that story has been retold alive but savage was a little paranoid. And we've talked about that here on the show but even about this call coming in right. Well Yeah but yes and no it was randy could be very suspicious and just not very trustworthy of anybody so randy you know looking Kennedy thing. I don't WanNa be butt of a joke. And if somebody's ribbon him you know Randy and Jimmy Har Come. I'm an because they had both been in Memphis at the same time Radius told me that Jimmy came tomb basically for whatever reason Zain Randy took it as the Gospel in they got together but it was Jimmy. Hart who vouched for Randy savage having worked with him for only a little bit in Memphis And then is I say you know the rest is history and got to take the chance on the Macho Man Randy. Take the chance on this and got everybody together in the Risto Hung. Yeah forget I need my two listing omits on my boots and my ass wrestlemainia. Three Jimmy's involved volved in three matches at the show. His first appearance with adorable Adrian Donald. WHO's taking on Roddy Piper? Then comes the six man with heart. Foundation Danny Davis on one inside versus the bulldogs and Tito Santana on the other. The third appearance on the show hockey talk and jake the Snake Roberts of course shake Alice Cooper in his corner and after the match match. Jimmy's left alone in the ring. Robertson Cooper team up to scare him with a pet snake Damien. Pretty Primetime moment here for Jimmy and biggest just wrestling card of all time. Jimmy's not on at once. He's on it three times. Not a bad gig three times and probably worth about seventy five percent of a payoff in nineteen eighty seven. Jimmy would manage the WWF. Women's tag team champions Judy Martin and Leilani Johny Konno's the glamour girls and They're most famously GONNA feud with Japanese team that has gone to become an internet wrestling. Legend the jumping bomb angels these women's tag titles when these days don't get talked about a lot. What's your favorite women's tag team championship match from? Nineteen ninety seven it was. It was a lot of Boston Gardens at time. Over the summer. Walls were sweating. They do so fucking hot. Eighty seven in a year for Jimmy. As I mean we couldn't have landed out any plainer. he wins pro wrestling illustrated's manager of the year as he should have. Did you guys in the office. I mean this is like something what I kept up with anybody else. Keep up with anything from pro wrestling illustrated or what was the relationship like with the quote. UNQUOTE APTER MAGS. There wasn't on because WWF had their own magazine so the concentration was put on their own periodical. And just making that All that it could be The rest of it. Yeah they were out there but it wasn't. It wasn't taken seriously all that was was made up or should anyway so at least have our own mate uproar shit line what are you saying was made up the wrestler and inside wrestling Illustrate Oh straight. I'm telling Ya not hurts but you know. Remember when they had the picture phone interviews those real interviews yeah. They weren't what. What does that mean? They had a guy in Memphis interviewing jerry. lawler in another guy in Los Angeles interviewing Dr Jerry Graham. They weren't on a picture phone man that didn't even speak. Oh Fuck Wrestlemania four. Let's fast forward. Jimmy would receive even haircut from British. The Barber beefcake after interview interfering rather in the Intercontinental Championship match between beefcake and hockey and he helps hockey retain the title by getting getting the queued later in the year the ratio brothers turned heel and they are then renamed the fabulous resume brothers and given Jimmy as their manager. And the Hart Foundation would fire Jimmy as a manager and then turn baby face and late eighty eight and then Jimmy would manage the ratio brothers to feud with his former team and the angle was the heart seal retained managerial rights to his former team and he gave a portion of that to the ratios Which is sort interesting? Why is it decided in this era to turn the Har- foundation into baby faces chart something noon? Fill the late had a little bit of a a baby face change to them already. It was specially at that time with the rouges who you thank God too good looking young guys. It'd be perfect baby faces but the American audiences just did not care for the Rubio's and putting Jimmy with them and then doing them. We're all American boys. Which Jimmy Hart wrote in Jimmy Hart recorded with Rouge's doing the vocals for it got so much heat because now you were saying how I think that the American audience audience saw the show they were foreigners dammit gladys in fucking day four for Milo Montreal's gotta be some country far far probably Russia just sway the Review let's let's make them all American boys. Okay so are slim eighty-eight Jimmy going to accompany demolition. and Mr Fuji Pertain. The tag titles against the harmonization acts would use Hart's Megaphone as a foreign object hit brad hard the head with it for the win. I should mention agents mentioned the top. Show that Jimmy actually wrote the Rubio's theme music which is a very memorable entrance song. Some say one of the best in history chat me Bruce. Do you have a A a little bit any of the saying the fabulous ratio theme song. Jimmy Hart Style Force.

I didn't WanNa go anyway but today we'll be talking about union leader Jimmy Hoffa who nc so you read between the lines. Are you ready to sell up the river literally any price talking skit. I I don't even care to huma. Hoffa Jimmy Hoffa was an American labor union leader when that actually meant something now it means that you're probably late on your mortgage. Yeah he was the president of the International Brotherhood of teamsters which is the truckers union and my dad teamster for several decades could not say this guy's name without calling him a crook he also went missing in one thousand nine hundred ninety five. They declared him dead seven years later but they've never found the remains and there were no convictions in the disappearance it just like Osama bin Laden and JFK. Interesting not at all like no yeah unrelated those people we shots I penciled dammit cancelled episode a hole in the forest take aac three. Jimmy was born in Brazil. Indiana Worst Carnival disappoint a AH fell one can use the bathroom. It was born on February fourteenth nineteen thirteen Valentine's baseball his his dad John Hoffa died. When Jimmy was seven from lung disease and the rest of the family moved to Detroit win? Hoffa was eleven. He quit school at fourteen years old and worked manual labor. Jobs like painting fulltime jean-mrs Apple Tree Shoe would be terrible if someone would paint your house when you at least you know what. This doesn't make any sense. I gotta get the new. y'All remember when people move to Detroit fifties. Yeah they're giving a stipend for that. They've been trying to get back. We have water now. You can drink on bottled some here. Hoffa moved on from painting houses to working in a grocery store chain when he was a teen. He became involved with the Union and organized labor. Around this time the job he was working page. Shitty wages had shittier working conditions and not a ton of job security so think professional snow podcast there with a boss done. That has nobody to blame but himself for his as best does covered. Works didn't do that. That especially since the workers wanted to unionize and Hoffa took the union leadership naturally Hoffa became inspired to work as a union organizer after a run in with an abusive forman when Jimmy stood up to him. The other employees were impressed by him so he moved on from that job and became became an organizer with the teamsters in Detroit local to ninety nine back when threatening people effectively was a valid line. Item on your resume. I I live in the wrong era. How about I fucking kill you? As a negotiation tactic that is sadly underused in today's Labour agree. Now it's fucking starve you and it's used by the other team and I don't mean you're fired and you're GonNa Starve. Congratulations you work at Walmart. Now you are below low the poverty. You made it to starvation cheeses a few years later. While working with non unionized laundry workers on their strike. He meets his soon to be wife. Josephine they married six months later. In September of Nineteen thirty six they go on to have two kids a daughter Barbara and a son James and I wanNA just quote wikipedia. Pedia here so you can hear the house price quote. The HOFFA's paid six thousand eight hundred dollars in one thousand nine hundred eighty nine for modest home in northwest Detroit. The family later owned a simple simple summer. Lakefront cottage in Orion Township Michigan North of Detroit. His son by the way thirty plus years after Jimmy is removed as the teamsters teamsters union president takes over the position. He's been the president since nineteen ninety. Nine yes true fact about that House in Detroit. It's actually worth less now than it was seven. Grandma gives you everything. North of I ninety in in the thirties the forties the teamsters grew pretty significantly in both numbers and power in one thousand nine hundred eighty when they were founded they had seventy five thousand members. There was a push push by Hoffa and other union leaders to consolidate other trucker unions with T- with the teamsters that made their membership grow to one hundred seventy thousand in nineteen thirty six and four hundred twenty thousand in one thousand nine hundred eighty nine and it was over a million by nineteen fifty one off one a bunch. A contract disputes using quickie strikes quickie strikes. We're only one side is happy about the outcome that checks get term and the Secondary Boycotts which leveraged other related industries to pressure Asher to put pressure on another to get them to cave to the demands of the Union would be like a grocery store strike to help get rights for farm laborers. It's hard to wrap your head around it but back then workers actually cared about other workers also since the teamsters were connected to a ton of professions since they delivered raw materials. Finish this project is that are they. Would they use to become the most powerful union in the country right That's why Amazon workers each their own P. Bucket now on everything and hey fun. Fact that secondary boycotts thing literally illegal now. So yeah if you're in a union don't like root too hard for a second bucket per a person shall. We can't even get everyone in the same room to decide that people shouldn't go bankrupt or die if they get sick I try to convince people to take time off of work to strike. Because their neighbors are striking is Utopian dreamscapes. We will never see again something. which I just said about the nineteen seventies seventies and the mob had its dirty hands in the pie to the truckers union were totally in bed with the Mafia? So this means that Hoffa in order to get and maintain power in the unions had to deal with mafia bosses quote he had to make accommodations and arrangements with many gangsters. Beginning getting in the Detroit area organized crime influence over the I bt would expand as the union itself crew and quote okay but Nowadays Union leaders have to get in bed with unsavory unsavory characters like US Congress Giambi two hours so even though Hoffa was a teamster n a union organizer Eiser. He never worked as a truck driver. Or a doc and that's how management works though and that's why it's better in nineteen forty six. In December. Jimmy Hoffa became the president of the Detroit.
