"Robert Quinn, Andy Dalton, give C players A plus money to come Join the Chicago Bears all those guys? Yeah, Yeah, You're talking about all those guys. Robert Quinn. Yep. Jimmy Graham, Jimmy Graham Dalton, Andy Dalton, Nick Foles. He's over paying big time for these players. He's giving them a plus money. Well, they traded for false. Let me ask you this. Robert Quinn, Jimmy Graham, Nick Foles, Andy Dalton. Around half of those players be level players. There's no A's in that group, right? No, there's no A's in that correct. I'm not in a there's two A's and Graham and one A. And Dalton Yes. No spelling. Yes, but I'm talking about the level of player. Uh, because, like Quinn Healthy. Is that a B at at the highest? I mean, you're not nay, right? You expected him to be in a in a player. You expected? Yes. You expected Robert Quinn to be in a player, but he's a solid B. Yeah, he's assault B. Jimmy Graham. That's a C A D. That's a C plus at best before Ryan Pace overpaid for him with the Packers. He was like I'd see minus right. Okay, so he give him big money. Andy Dalton. What would you say for Dalton? He was a back almost to be a bridge guy. Yeah, like he's So what's a backup in the league? As far as players go? I mean, if you're a really good backup, yes, C plus seem C C just to see and Nick Foles. What would you Super Bowl M v P, though. So looking into the the article goes on to say, looking ahead to the 2022 season. The Colts are slated to have the most cap space in the NFL, so Chris Ballard will have plenty. To spend next year will spend it Wise and his team. His team is a talented team roster. Wise able a lot of young good players, whether or not they can figure it out. The quarterback position is a different story. And then once again to flip it towards the Chicago Bears. The Bears are in a tough spot cap wise right now, like I have no cap space, and they interview Ballard, too. Yes, the the Bears did interview. Chris wasn't good enough. So, but I thought I saw that earlier today on pro football talk. I thought that was interesting. Because at almost every point of this conversation, we can say Ryan Pace did the opposite. Yeah, that's what he does. I need a tight end. All right, let's get Jimmy Graham. He was good. We need a Corvette. Let's get Andy Dalton. He was good. It was good. He was going to get. Let's get him. I want a Nick Foles type player. We got phones. Well, I didn't have said Mm. Robert Quinn. I just don't understand, but well, he's hurt, right? That's been the problem has been injured. Yeah, but I mean, did you need Did you need him? Well, All teams need multiple players off the edge, right? No, I guess so. Theoretically, the more talent you have coming from each side of the edge, and then you can supplement Why Khalil Mack brings to the table like that's dangerous. That's a great combination to go after quarterback. Problem is, you have to play. I still think that this defense will play especially The edge guys. The guys they are paid to get to the quarterback will play differently under Sean Desai, who is more of a Vic Fangio type coach. Then. The last guy who did not do such things. It's really good to talk football. You know, once Fourth of July hits the way my brain works is like I flip into football gear. I know Major League Baseball is going in full swing right now. I say that in the commercial spots for blue to promo code, ESPN full swing, but I think the NBA Finals taking place It's a big story, but to me, it feels like it's time to start thinking. And reading and listening and talking about football. The moment the fourth of July holiday is over. Yeah, absolutely, because that's when you to me. There's like there's two dates and summer. That really mean like the turning points of summer July, 4th is the first one because that's when you start going up for football and then being in Chicago. Lollapalooza has always been that second one because that's like the end of summer that you're going to say, Labor day and it's like the star of the football, So no, no, no to me. I said something No, I said, somebody you know the date of law. I said Summer doesn't while blues a bounce around Sometimes I was the first couple weeks of August. It's always that first we either the first weekend or second, depending on when the weekend falls. It's usually that first weekend in August. So to me that first weekend that like first week of August once that's over, that's when you start your like. All right now we're prepping for fall. I want to talk to you about the NBA Finals. Chris Paul was amazing. Last night, the sons are up one game to none. Are the Bucks in trouble. You're listening to.

"Looking good. So far six and 9 83 yards. Including a touchdown pass Jimmy Graham on the first drive on this latest one Big 21 Yard strike, two done all moony move the chains into Jack's territory and then a task interference penalty on trade. 100 of the judge set up there's first and goal from the one. But after getting stuff from the first rushing attempt, they found themselves 32. Comiskey trying to hit a sideline route. Kind of, you know, right up the edge of the pain that Al Robson couldn't quite get 2 ft down. So they found themselves fourth and two and elected, you know, for the 20 yards. Chip shot field goals. So bears on top judges have the ball out in best territory right now at the 41 yard, buying 10 minutes to go here in the first half. Chicago on top of Jacksonville, attended three. Alright Kansas City. The chief's got a little tricky on duh. We're pulling around a little and had Sammy Watkins throw a pass intended for Patrick Mahomes. And a lot of teams like to do this or have done this, and I don't really see the point of putting Patrick Mahomes, who is thieve. Best quarterback in the game right now, maybe with the exception of Aaron Rodgers going out and trying Tolo catch a pass, and especially the way it was thrown by Sammy Watkins. He had to play a jump ball situation. But Kion O'Neill comes up with the interception. And the Falcons take over at their own to again. Uh, you know, Look, if you wanna wanna try a trick play, that's one thing, but you got to be smart. And putting your quarterback in a spot where he could get hurt. That is not a good thing, especially when it is Patrick Mahomes. And you're 13 and one trying to defend your Super Bowl championship. Let's go to Mike Mancuso right now, the Jets coming off the wind, looking to add to it as they are in front of the Browns. Here's Mike Mancuso. Okay. Rich 13 37 remaining in the first half. Jets now lead Cleveland 70. Ring and they scored on, you know a little bit of a trick play Donald Flea flicker Jamison Crowder, the wide receiver, catching the ball and throwing downfield to Braxton Barrios for a 43 yard touchdown pass. Theo a week this place up the and give the Jets a 7 to 3 lead Then Cleveland takes over on the kickoff In on Baker Mayfield's first play of the second quarter, He is sacked and fumbled. The Jets recover on the 30 yard line, so they're knocking on the door again. As you mentioned, it's Sam Donald just throws a touchdown pass. Ah, to the back of the end zone is trying to see who caught it. But it even waited just now. Lead 13 to 3. That's gonna be Herndon with the catch. I believe the tight end Chris Herndon. Who holds onto the ball. So now pending the extra point the Jets there on top of the Browns, 13 to 3 with 13 30 remaining in the first half. So good start for the Jets. Who says they need a quarterback? Right? Mike? You know what you and I have discussed this. I still don't think it's the end of the world to build around, Donald, if you have Ah, good coach and you pick up some players, you know. Don't think this kid shot yet, but we'll see. It's just a couple of years after he was two picks after Baker Mayfield, who he's going up against tonight, right now, he has the 14 3 leading Micah's You mentioned, certainly waking up the fans. We look like cardboard cut outs there. By the way, the extra point was missed. The extra point was missed. So it's 13 to 3. So jets like you exactly what it is it a 10 point lead is the Browns looking to inch closer to their first playoff berth since 2002 Bucket ears their playoff bound for the first time since 2007 Tom Brady, at a big part, met with four touchdown passes to 14 from receivers in the first half yesterday before taking an early shower and talks about what has been clicking offensively late. We played pretty good first half today. Really good. The whole game blamed when then went in. Did a great job. It was great to see. And a lot of guys make plays. Mike made a bunch. Chris made a bunch a be made a bunch. Other made one Keyshawn made some letter did You know, so it's just a great effort by by the whole team and just happy for all of us to win the game. And it's great to be 10 and five were 85. Uh, 75 a day bye week and I won three straight so been really important and You know, we got another big one next week against Atlanta. And then whatever happens after that is bonus for all of us. So All right. We'll go over the Ira Kaufman. Tom, you're gonna have to go to wild card route. Tom and You know, in 07. You saw a team get hot and Ah, and what they can do with wild card route does not faze you at all time and does this season make it a little bit easier in terms of empty stadiums? Maybe going on the road? But you know, we got a home game next week against Atlanta. So that's that's what I'm thinking about. My child. Bond played great football next week and didn't play very good in the first half of Atlanta. Um Only played one half today, so You know, I gotta go out there and you don't play well next week. We go to sky Reynolds. Tom, Congratulations on the win. Lot of your Patriots teammates were accustomed to making the playoffs during your time there. This is the first playoff trip for most of the Buccaneers, especially some old Buccaneers like Labonte, David and will Gholston. I have an appreciation for what those guys are feeling right now. Yeah, I'm happy for, you know, certainly just happy. We won the game and You know, we're 10 and five and I know that gets us a spot, but I think there's still you know, big week ahead of us for preparation and improving as a team and Um, you know, we're playing better playing more. You know, just consistently. Um and it's been great to see and I know there's a lot of guys who've worked hard to get to this point. You know, 10 wins get you something this year in the NFL gets responded playoffs. Uh, No, there's gonna be a bunch of teams that make it this year is only one team stands up happy. So the more time we could spend improvement as a team and proven as a quarterback that I need to do that the better it is for us. Tom Brady following the victory yesterday, which launched into the playoffs for the first time since 2007 and Ah nice question the good answer from Brady about all the guys who have been there for a while and have now finally earned a trip to the postseason, What it'll feel like for them. And the next couple of weeks right now, the chiefs who have the best record in football, 13 and 1 5.5 minutes left in the first half and no score between the Chiefs and the Falcon. So shocking start right there for the top team in the top offense right now in the A F. C. The Jets with a 13 to 3 lead over the brown Sam Donaldson with a touchdown pass to make it a 10 point game while in Jacksonville. Outstanding catch by DJ.

"And to be honest, I don't want Ryan pace, trading away anything more. Right, like we've seen him do that enough. And as bears fans, we know that the way he works. The way he's operating in these trades is that he is always giving up more than he takes back. So I'm okay that the bears into anything I will chalk that up as doing nothing was a win for Ryan Pace at the trade deadline. Yeah, I think that this goes back to the draft. This goes back to last year's draft. This goes back to shoring up that defensive or that offensive line with picks. You know what I mean? Like we all like Cole commits a good pick Coke and and Jalen Johnson's a good pick. But after that You should have gotten more offensive line help. Last year's draft in 2019 probably should've had more offensive line help like this. This doesn't go back to Oh, well, Now you gotta fix holes where their holes right? You can't just be plugging every single hole with all of your fingers and your toes and then you plug it with your face like you can't do that, right? You have to. You have to This goes back to bad drafting. This goes back to giving money. And you would've been great. How about how about $9 Million that could have gone to an offensive lineman and not Jimmy Graham. If you were going to draft call combat, but your tongue, Abdullah Why? Because you and I were told we were being haters at the time because we didn't like Jimmy Graham and that signing and we also said that that was why we don't like Ryan pace, he's remembered. We were told that Bite your tongue. You know, we're told that we're haters because of that, Even though we knew last year Did you watch him and Graham with the backers was awful, awful terrible. He's cut for touchdown passes receiving this season. That's great for the Bears. He convey rarely run out of the routes barely move out. But the last game against the Rams he wasn't on the fields for when they were in the red Zone. So that nag years that their distrust in Jimmy Graham what is it's all the off the above, so it's about the allocation assets right money. Poorly poorly spent and draft picks either wasted or poorly used and that it doesn't come back to all. Well, they should have traded a second round pick for Mac from the Falcon's. No. That's not how this works, because that's not how the NFL works. It's about drafting. It's about using your your money well, and those are two things that Ryan Pace has not done well. Okay, So there you go up to speed on the news in the NFL, Black and Abdallah with you here on ESPN one thousand's Not like there's anything else going on tonight, Right? Um I don't think so. Okay, Perfect. Eso. We appreciate you watching on twitch. ESPN 1000. Chicago is the twitch Channel. You can join the chat. You can Ah, joint and watch us right there. You can also listen to us on the ESPN Chicago app. I want to ask you this Abdal because you know we can preview this Titans Bears game and we can talk about the bears in the short term in this season, and we can kind of see whether or not they're a playoff team and how this will unfold. But the answer that we keep coming, too. Is that Ryan pace Matt Nagy. And this bears quarterback position need to be fixed. We know that Ryan Pace is not doing a great job, right? I think you can argue whether or not he's done a good job. Matt Nagy has a winning record, but we can argue whether or not he's a good head coach. The one thing that I think everyone is in a grandson. Is the fact that the Bears quarterback position Absolutely needs to be fixed. So coming up next. I want to ask you about options for the Bears a quarterback next season like I get it. It's way out in advanced. It's far in the future, but I think there's some players in college football that we should keep our eyes on right now. And and try and figure out will the Bears be able to land that franchise quarterback next year in the draft, and that's why I want to ask you a 3123323776. Is there a quarterback that you have your eyes on? Is there someone that you see playing college football right now that you want the bears the draft in the first round next year and remember this team right now is drafting what 18th 19th in the first round. Someone like you're looking at just in fields and you want Ryan Pace or whoever is the GM to move up in land that player Who's the quarterback? "In the show in his future, the long and short of it is is He's got to still meet with Tom Ricketts, and he's expecting to be here in 2021, but You know? Anything could change caps stories on, But we're talking bears right now, and we want to continue to take your phone calls 3123323776 because it's the same old, same. Oh, it's just it's it's it's Ah, team that has left way shore on the offensive side of the football. You continue to build up defenses and special teams. And hope that the quarterback is just average. But the bigger issue is again. We're stuck with just replacement level quarterback quick before we get back to the phones, I said to you earlier. This is a two pronged issue for me, its personnel and his coaching personnel wise put on the tape. That offensive line and moving anybody of note. They're just not. And that's the biggest issue with me. Waddle that we sit here and I don't believe that the general manager is that good. And I don't trust so. So this is the personnel side of it. That offensive line isn't moving anybody of note. You're not moving Brentson Buckner. Just not. You may move the lions a little bit, But you're not going to move these guys. You decided that the best threat for unauthentic that is tight and reliant was to go out and get Jimmy Graham. That's what you decide when you paid high for him to right now on the coaching side of things now Matt's got the ability because he trusts his quarterback to run his offense. Well, what is his offense? Okay, Maybe it's the chief's. Maybe it's the Eagles. Maybe it's a hybrid. Well, you can't run the chiefsoffense. The Chiefs have significantly better talent, the skill position and a better offensive line. You can't run with the Eagles do Until, like a week or so ago. Like, even without all their wide receivers. You still had Zach Ertz. You had got hurt their tight end and you had an offensive line. It's been decimated. But that could protect the quarterback who hasn't been playing well, but is still significantly better than the two guys we have. So you're trying to run an offense that kind of mirrors What the Chiefs and the dollar the The Eagles running, but you don't have anything close to the talent. That's where it's incumbent on the coach to take. What is his players do do well and try to put them in a position to take advantage of that. And I think you saw as much as you could. Of how he tried to get the most out of Mitch in the first two games where they focused on quarterback Understand running the football passes came off a play action actually thought Matt did a good job there. Make fools comes in. And now all of a sudden we're the Chiefs of the Eagles will. You can't be the person who knew those guys. You don't have the personnel even club front or on the edge, Alex in Elk Grove Village. You're on ESPN 1000. What's up, Alex? I gotta tell you don't like me. I like to make a point Village called place Can't see the force because of the trees. He still thinks he's playing. Arena football. You can't run the ball. He needs to be fired for Donald. Put him in there. Get rid of Maybe that hey, doesn't have it. You'll never have it. I'm totally against giving the ball to Cordero Patterson and third one. That's Amis coaching growing deed to Cordero Patterson that you know what I could do without that as well. I give the ball to David Montgomery on third and one That's a coaching issue. The fact that it could be you. It could be your lovely mom. Barb. It could be Cordero Patterson. It could be black. It could be a dollar. None of you guys, We're getting the first down because your offensive line was blown into the backfield. But a cold front seven. So I wouldn't have made the personnel decision. With that offensive line got absolutely smothered. What was a two pronged issue. So what did you think of the play call late in the game that they got saved when I think they threw to Montgomery? Yeah, I thought that was it forth in one and they got the p I Because if again short yardage, and you're going doing that critical moment you got bailed out by u no doubt and listen, I don't think Nick Foles was very good. As I said, I think he will get better as time goes on. The culture really good team. It's a really It's amazing how much better a team can defend you when they get a chance to game plan for you as well. The Falcons really didn't do that. The culture better defense in game planned for a guy that the head coach knows a lot about thought Nick made some bad reads. There were a couple of third downs where I think he ball should've gone somewhere else. The interception was totally on him. Anthony Miller was wide open and he threw the ball too far out in front of him. Nick was not good. Will he get better? I think he will get better. I don't think that the ceiling is ridiculously high, though. Again. My expectation level was eight. Nate this year they started the season three. You know, I haven't changed my opinion. Jason on the South side. You're on ESPN 1008 Jason. They will want to talk about a town full of got burnt yesterday and they were taking on our rookie or Jaylen Johnson. It was like, man. These guys need to be better, man. You know, Vanna Nick Foles. Nothing here is here working on a way through with little problems he got, but I think that the defense of needs Just pick up. Pick up the pace, man. Maybe maybe the alchemical follow suit. You know Khalil Mack give that interception and we might. We might have been able to put up some points in the in that drive will. What wants lived knows where he's at on the football field. Maybe we could make some points on the drive. You know, that's not gonna play. Look, I think a cap. I heard cap today say this that I think there's only one cornerback in the league. I think it's the kid from New York that made the interception on us. I Bradford Isa Bradbury, Brad for the kid that was from Carolina, they signed is a frigid, fantastic player. After him jail, Johnson has more breakup than any other quarterback in the league has been perfect. No, I live with Kyle Fuller. Kabul is going to jump on every route possible, having a really good year. I think he's going. Look, if you really want to focus in on the defense and ask for more which pass rush, right, Khalil Max making is what and he's a factor. Don't get me wrong, but you expect him to play like the defensive player of the year. Every game, don't you? Yeah. Abdullah gave me something about the cap that Someone over the cap posted about the difference between the Colts and the Bears and how the Bears are in a bad position of cab because they keep making these bad draft picks, And then he over tries to over corrected by throwing money at the heaven..

"This guy was drafted so he can perform from day one. I know that Jimmy Graham's on the team. But everybody knows that. That's also a little surprised. You spend four of your five choices on a defense that even though they took us back last year, still finished in the top five and points a lot. Aim. You know why? Because they have to carry the damn team Tom. That's why those are the stars. Just kind of like with the clubs that stars have to be The star Exactly when these dudes are averaging 13 points a game and can't score on it, But the stars play like the stars. You're still going to be eight. Nate at best and not get to the postseason. Can't pick the quarterback because otherwise it would be 1234 and five would've been quarterback. Okay, including the quarter. This is excluding the quarterback and not all of us looking me. I'm Tom Waddle. I picked. I picked Naggy. I'm going on a man that's like that. You know what that is? That's a dollar for takes you all Don't don't speak for always got to be the contrary and going opposite of everybody playing there often sub. So what I wanted guys on offense that wear we said player. That's right. That's why I gave you five offensive guys used to play. Matt Maggie doesn't put pads on last night checked. Just a divisor. Take that. Yeah, Take that, Uh, give us your list. Really? Yeah. There's a lot cross over here. Number five for me. Gibson, her Bush, Who's the other safety starting along with Jackson. Good question. It's something I'm keeping my eyes on Number four. I'm with you, Sylvie, Jalen Johnson. A rookie cornerback. Who you spent a second round pick on Anna Muka. Moore was huge for this defense. The consistency that he brought to the table, I think is something we will miss. Even though I like Johnson. I like the pick. I think he'll be good. I'm concerned there. Number three. Anthony Miller. I think we all agree, right. He needs to be better. He was on everyone's list. Right? Except for Mr Football behind you. Yeah, but Abdullah was doing a bit so it's fun number two than that. Chris, give me the kicker that whoever the kicker is That's going to be something we're gonna have to worry about. Now. I thought coming into this that we weren't going to have to worry about it until this week, when clearly that pin your heroes either hurt or he's not kicking well or whatever's taking place at that Carlos guy that they signed. Cairo number one. I'm gonna give you Jimmy Graham because it may not be necessarily the impact. But if he's a terrible football player this year That's going to be the nail in the coffin for Ryan Pace If he doesn't figure out the quarterback position, we will all point back to the terrible signing of Jimmy Graham, how he didn't help the offense that teams bad this that and the other and that's why pace we'll be out of here in a year, So I think Jimmy Graham has to show up. I'm concerned about him. Adding to this offense, What do you guys think? 3123323776 about are less most important guys other than the quarterback on this Bears team that have to step up this season and we'll talk to Dan, Please Sak about the Cubs. The Latest: Bears part ways with Floyd after Quinn deal

"The Chicago bears have been busy now that the NFL is open for business the bears are signing pass rusher Robert Quinn to a five year seventy million dollar deal and with the signing the bears will say goodbye to linebacker Leonard Floyd the team already agreed to a two year nine million dollar deal with veteran tight end Jimmy Graham and still to come is acquiring a veteran quarterback to compete with Mitch Trubisky the likelihood is a trade for either Andy Dalton or Nick Foles as Trubisky has failed to live up to expectations after being drafted number two overall just three years ago David Shuster Chicago

What could TE Austin Hooper bring to Packers offense?

"Was a report from. I think it was robbed a mosque. Who covers the Green Bay packers and he made you know at least the packers are aware that they need more pask actors? They reportedly planned to add two of them via free agency and the draft. And you can certainly get a bunch. But I'm not sure that the guy that he talked he said they're played into. Target Austin Hooper. I'm not sure that's what Aaron Rodgers really needs. I would rather see somebody more explosive. I don't know what you think about that but either released Jimmy Graham who's just Zaslov signing for them. I would note that Matlin. Flair was the Falcons quarterbacks coach when Austin who was a rookie in two thousand sixteen in Atlanta But Yeah I. I don't know I'm not sure awesome. Hooper is exactly what fixes. What's wrong with Green Bay right now? Which is clear. It's Green Bay at margin only feels comfortable throwing to Davante Adams. Yeah I think they're awesome. Hooper would be fine signing You give the packers a solid possession tight end just really reliable. Almost eighty percent career catch. Ray Can block enough from a dynasty standpoint. He would block J Sternberg who drafted in the third round. This past year in. I mean I really liked him coming at a at a Texas. A&m But you know. Yeah he he would be a big roadblock in the way of j Sternberg. I'm completely with you. Though in Syria I mean I. I think that they should sign two guys. I mean I think that Al Having Allen Lazard as your number two option. The passing game isn't good enough and I think that even if they signed someone like Austin Hooper. I think should go robby Anderson. You know I think that Robbie Anderson Opposite Davante Adams would give them Just a completely different dynamic in their passing game. I think that they need some any they I think they need an explosive field stretcher. And Yeah if I was. I would focus on a guy like Robin Anderson. I mean mark has vowed is scant laying in theory had the skill set to be that guy but he just did not take a second year. Yeah there were some reports from Our friend Matthew Berry had noted that era jittery like Salazar staff-related Allen. So I think they're going to add a wide receiver for sure. But for now I would consider Allen Lazard the front runner for the number two wide receiver job. Assuming they don't add anybody which then was certainly

Packers' win over Vikings

"Bit about the Packers and Vikings the game last night in a victory for Green Bay as they win the NFC north a six time that our Rogers is quarterback the Green Bay Packers to an NFC north title there twelve win team but they're not getting the respect that they deserve or is it a case of you look at those twelve victories bogus and say I know they're twelve wins but you know are they really that good of a football team you are a ball bill Parcells used to say you are what your record is so the Packers of one twelve of the fifteen games that they play this year they've got one to go I mean that's pretty darn good when you think about it and they've got an opportunity to be the number one seed in the NFC they win and the forty Niners lose our they're gonna be the number one seed so all in all all avenues will go through Lambeau field for the Green Bay Packers yeah which is not where you want to play in January slash you know we're December slash January but I just I don't be it's fits all that both the this game last late leaves us wondering about both of these teams right what what how good actually the Vikings and how good actually are the Packers and I I think the easy thing is to say man the Packers play defense last night and they ran the football if they can do those two things consistently here the next couple weeks they're gonna be a tough out but I I I still in stock on Aaron Rodgers because I went into that game paying close attention to him I'd read it I guess it was last week an article about how there been a developing split between Rogers early and late in games and the Packers are a team that kind of script to be how they're gonna start a game they have the feel they can have their first like ten or fifteen please planned out and once Rogers huddled recently had a left that kind of scripted portion the game plan all of their production had kind of dwindle it'll be like they were they were scoring points early in the struggling late I want to see the pattern continued last night and he never really got it going last night no and the three turnovers early and you want the point we made almost the beginning of the show back in our number one and you know I I I want to believe in them I will especially playing at home in limbo but I I know if if he can't throw it and they can't catch it and they can't score points that way I I can't trust the defense enough against San Francisco or New Orleans we're Seattle your ticket to get them through a game anywhere so they've got to me ask you this is our Jones good enough to carry the team offense I don't think so you don't think so I I think young with what you saw last night a hundred fifty four yards on the ground he's had an unbelievable year the albums have been an issue right but you know catching it and run it out of the backfield Jones has been an absolute start for the Packers could not be less about Rogers could be less about his brilliance of a signal caller and more about running the football winning at the point of attack in a winning time of possession getting after the quarterback they can certainly do that defensively but offense of Lee can be less about Rogers pulling a miracle out of his rear end and could it be more about Aaron Jones basically wrote it down your throat hit list yeah I get it its it's there's two distinct ways to look at it that this is that this is good news that they actually have a complimentary Aaron Rodgers throwing the field for a long time they haven't had a good game and he was able to throw it have success throwing it despite no running game I just I still ng feel that they need that passing attack to be at maybe dynamic is asking too much based on the weapons around with us and who we throw the football to but I still think they just need more than they've gotten over the last month or so that's fair and and listen I I don't I don't necessarily disagree with that especially in this kind of a league especially the fact that neither you or I can really trust that Packers defense even after what we witnessed last night but let me ask the question this way is it a case of not having the weapons around him or is it a case of a regression in the quarterback I don't think if any regression is there I don't think that it's anything more than that and kind of the normal regression you've had you'd have to be at this point of your career I don't I don't think he's falling off more like in any significant way he just wanted me because he is always you throw devante Adams right Jimmy Graham is a what it once was but should be great still good target yeah all right and although it it sound I don't know if it's Jimmy Graham I don't know if its defenses I don't know if it's a Rogers thing but but grant as we get targets anymore no it is not getting the target but it but you would we would both agree that Jimmy Graham can if the boss coming his way Jimmy grams gonna make the reception I like Geronimo Alison I like don't think Rogers does no I I I but that's what that's also a problem to where you do limit yourself offense of Lee if you're targeting one player sixteen times right over the course of the game I mean that's where you could look at the regression maybe not the physical regression but maybe it's the mental regression of Allah Rogers where he is too too much of a lean toward one player and maybe that's where it's hurting the offense where he's not spreading the football around enough to where he's building up the confidence of young players rather because while did our Rogers bogus she was never got it yeah I looked at the library not being totally a product of guys around him I don't I Rogers guy that you know you me and it Palade a chap could be the wide receivers and our Rogers of find a way to get the football you're still less and less of that as he

"Rodgers that Jimmy Graham with the game's lone touchdown as the Packers beat the bears ten did three Chicago's defense sack Rogers five times the pack at five sacks a Mitchell to misty former bears safety Adrian Amos has games loan turn over an end zone pick but just under two to goes sealing the win the new Packers linebacker today area Smith had a sack among his three tackles and he had this for Michelle steel post game so effort. I guess we did a lot of things right a son I'll come. only thing I'm gonna do is to work in bed we come together as one we can be very dominant so don't you don't okay yeah no all game long it was anybody's game until age you're in a most your teammate got that interception late in the fourth quarter what was it like to see him get that pic against his former team it was great. when we was even better well we got a male we told him we said double you got to make a play man but alas as well you got a song and dance so he made a plan when it was time to make a plan and I'll call was magnificent we just go to work and they keep trying to get rid of the next week see a lot of people are calling this almost like a mini Superbowl there's so much hype around this game how much momentum does a game like this a win like this give to this team I miss a lot I know they're robbers he talked about it we could be dominant. we can be done no we all just come together and for this is off what is our game all was big for us entertained and we're gonna go in his locker we are celebrating their body back in Green Bay Wisconsin I know you got. I think we're good resolution. Smith huffing and puffing postgame risky twenty six of forty five through for two twenty eight and that ends don't pick two hundred and fifty four total yards of offense for Chicago Steve young on what he saw from the bears QB was on SportsCenter with SBP I I want him to grow yeah and start to be the reason why the bears win and and I what I mean by that is likely you know they want to pull off football game you say well that's Mister best you did that and that's the place you need to get and when the games on the line when he can go try to win the game he does a high school stare down and their safety moves over he throws a right to me like I I honestly do you just that's criminal at this level with what we expect him to do James ally can happen I just thought throughout the game to resist the far you play just I I was not what I want to see on a mission and this is his third season in the league rebates one sixteen of the last nineteen meetings against their long time arrivals just four days four days before the season opener Antonio brown is not with the Oakland Raiders this following a confrontation with the raiders GM Mike may I here's Adam Schefter welders manager Mike Malcolm wide receiver Antonio brown got into it had to be separated heated words she exchanged o'connor brown's been sent home the team is planning to suspend him at the latest chapter in a summer full of them we can basically burning the speed the cryotherapy chamber him going to the helmet well the only thing missing crew meeting some going away from the team and finding out all night and now I'm getting into an exchange with Mike mac that looks like it's going to lead to them being suspended for at least Monday night's game against the Broncos maybe longer I saw the incident followed brown posting on social media on Wednesday a letter sent to him from may I. detailing fifty four thousand dollars in fines from various team infractions here's more from Shafter earlier on SportsCenter can you remember a hall of fame talent ever basically getting into a confrontation every to be separated from his general manager the week of the regular season opening game it's a very surreal circumstance on top of a lot of surreal circumstances in open surrounding in twenty a brand that team right now is sifting through its options initially was told today that he would be either suspended or released and then I was told it would be suspended and now I think they're hardly up to figure out exactly how they want to handle this moving forward may I ask telling reporters brown was not at the facility on Thursday I was you listed as did not practice dash Honda on the injury report inside spread across the board courtesy of Damien woody Dan Orlovsky Marcus spears Jack del Rio and NBC sports bay area raiders insider's guide bear whether you spend it for one or for or what have you is that the raiders could legally work you get it guarantees what. thirty billion Bucks and that's a big kind of funny and there will be lawyers that this is a hellacious soap operatic today I think it's going to get crazier from there it shouldn't surprise anyone we'll talk about the same and twenty awhile. every wall actually one of the most we. what else okay. this will mean that really turns me out a lot of these genes big big company but they try to go get a core. thank you that once we get about building that he'll change. all. undeniable. maybe the best bargains people of our generation but what comes with that is a lot of the baggage we saw the bag is with the Pittsburgh Steelers and now it's transparent with the Oakland Raiders the reader should cut bait you know I I said I said that sometimes you make the right decision and sometimes you make the decision right they made the wrong decision and and acquiring them and now they need to make that wrong decision right this is a great player great player but there's a difference between being a great player and a great pro the raiders yes should have expected something but they should not expect the death only made a decision John group made a decision that we don't bring a began hopefully he'll be that the league wide receiver for a few years and they will move all this is about the raiders franchise on the field the fifty three and a third like for you to be surprised if if the Oakland Raiders or surprised about what AV has done they didn't do their due diligence and let you watch us talk about a me while he was in Pittsburgh all coaches we all feel like we can help the guy I'd be a little better we have under our direction okay so Jon Gruden Mike mail they made a decision to go out get this very talented player and I bet they can't wait to get to the doggone K. because I would think he is really good but you're going to have this drama I was just going to follow him is going to be part of the part of what you're requiring when you bring in a B. you're gonna get the drama to go along with the performance but the the game to get ready to start let's see the performance and then seventy okay all right so as mentioned shifty pointed this out there still weighing their options regarding the length of the suspension teams have under the collective bargaining agreement the right to suspend players up to four games for conduct detrimental to the team key point here the suspension could also void the more than twenty nine million in guarantees over the next two seasons in he's a contract Ryan Clark on SportsCenter with Kerry champion that they finally. no obviously this is the team that was trying to work through different situations with Antonio brown in trying to give them an opportunity to play because they understand in between the lard then guys almost unstoppable but he's done enough to this team in such a short period of time where they think they have to suspend demand that the best thing for the need to go forward and win games actually I'm not surprised at all you look at Mike Tomlin the Pittsburgh Steelers Kevin Colbert been Roethlisberger's these these are people that didn't you in this sense the router to draft you gave your contract after your second year gave you another contract when you became the best wide receiver in football you can respect vada no to behave yourself in a way that can keep you there why would you do something differently with new people knowledge Oakland so I'm not surprised by the action or that it's come to this point okay when you bring up a very good point why would he do something differently to that and I ask you to the right is not know who they were acquiring when they got a beat I believe the whole world no I remember taking I took a lot of heat last year when I came out and out and I see he's always been busy dude and now you're just starting to see that everybody was you know we would see is small they kind of his charisma and the way he was engaging and that personality is bigger than me he was a good teammate that that meant he was a good deal with and I would always say without telling. a different insight that I know about of Baghdad not only is and now he's reached a point in his life in his career where he's tired of hiding these things from the public or the people he works with and obviously the raiders thought that they could have a culture that would help him not be that same person what we're seeing now that they were wrong the receivers agent drew Rosenhaus on if the relationship can be repaired he spoke with our rob the MOB ski feel like this relationship can be repaired going forward I do I think it can be repaired and that's something that I'm working on Tony was working on so hopefully we're successful with that. covers the raiders for E. S. P. N. on the subject of a B. versus no AB yeah no I think that all rather have him in the building because when you see him out on the practice field he elevates everybody's game simply by being there simply by how hard he practices in and you saw that montage I know we can't really take hard knocks as gospel so to speak when you saw that montage of the way that he was working out there and blowing by D. bees in getting that the toe tap in and the one handed grabs and everything else it elevates the play of everyone else from their car to the quarterback that he's working again so yeah they do one in the building but at some point you have to realize as a player where do you cut your losses and Rick and realize you know what we need to move for we need to move on because as everyone knows in the NFL especially the mentality is next man up when it comes to injury this is not an injury this is something entirely different you're listening to sports that are all night on ESPN radio in.

"That's why you've seen the the deals that they've done recently last week. It was NATO orchard and tasks March to pass rushers who were cut by their previous team. So therefore don't affect the the company situation. I think that is sort of been their goal, and we'll continue to be their goal is to add guys, but not at the expense of, you know, future draft pick. So, you know, this has sort of been a somewhat typical off season for them. And you know, it's it's not the type of off-season that's going to get fans really excited. But I made this point before free agency that you have to go back to two thousand fifteen and Kerry Williams of all people, we all know how. But you know, carry Williams was the last guy that they signed outside Asia. That they signed to a both your deal more than like five million dollars and ever since. Then if in, you know, either one year deals worth a little bit more, or it's been, you know, those those sort of middle tier, you know, just sort of inexpensive veteran guys they really have not made a big splash since Carey Williams. And you know, they've also they made the big Percy Harvard trade in two thousand fourteen and made Jimmy Graham trae two years later, but for the most part that has sort of been this teams though, and for his sort of, you know, staying out of of the big spending in the early waves and going after those value plays. So as an exciting as in might be, and you might look it in a lot of other teams got better, and they didn't really get better. They just sort of stood Pat. But that's that's really been their MO. I think for for the last few years, I have the grease their position you think they might try and address via trade. Boy, that's a good one. You know, the problem is they just don't have a whole lot to trade right now. At least in terms of draft picks only have four draft picks. Just because a lot of the trade that they've made in the past. There was you know, the trade. That's why they don't have a second rounder, you know, slow Milania backup safety in the six round. And Brett Hundley last year in the seventh round they have gotten those two mixed up. But at any rate, they only have four picks. They don't have a ton of trade. I think in terms of these something that they might address in the draft is is still address or you know, I mentioned that they side Martian Nate orchard. I think those are two short term fixes that position. That is still a big need for them, especially when you consider that Frank Clark playing a franchise tag. And you know, we talked about earlier there's really no guaranteed is that they're going to be able to pay him just given the, you know, the landscape of who else's is up for contract. So I think I think edge rusher still defensive tackle. A run stuffing defensive tackle just because of how poor their run defense was last year. And then Bill another interesting one is wide receiver. And I think that it's tied a lot to Doug Baldwin situation. You know, he had a brutal year last year. It turns of injuries. It was just one injury after another. We know he's going in for either has had or he's about to have his third surgery of the offseason and interestingly back at the owners meetings a couple of weeks ago would p Carol confirm that he was going to have that third surgery. I asked them. Okay. Is this it we know he's had the back. I'm sorry. The shoulder surgery the knee surgery. He's gonna have the sports. Hernia surgery is this it is there anything else, and he didn't say definitively that would be it. So I think you've got a you've got to start. You know, looking hard at finding it eventual successor for Doug Baldwin, whether that's this year or next year. Just because injuries have taken a toll on his body and also just in sort of emotionally so receiver is a position I could see them targeting early in the draft ended. Addition to address her and fortunately for them. It's a pretty good draft reg rushers. Yeah. Absolutely. I think that that makes sense that they would target that position..

"I mean, they got Jimmy grim. But you know. Yeah. But he he was he was not the Jimmy Graham that we knew you're right. That's a really good point. Yeah. All right. We'll take a break Jordy Nelson who just retired will join us coming up. Yeah. In about thirty minutes, forty minutes from now, I wonder if there was any chance he was going back to the Packers for one more year man there. He put together a season of four seasons that are bell stand with any hall of fame wide receiver. Of course. Mclovin. Says system wide receiver because he had Aaron Rodgers throw into do you think he may have made Aaron Rodgers better? Oh, yeah. But you think if he had landed with another quarterback he would have those crazy stats. He's he's a it wasn't a first round pick. He was like Julio Jones where he came out of nowhere. A guarantee we don't know how many wide receivers are great without a great quarterback like five like, Larry FitzGerald, and like a few other guys. Okay. But Larry had Kurt Warner in. Carson palmer. You know one's all Famer one was very good. Granted he probably had less talent at that position than maybe any other wide receiver in history. If you look at the numbers, Larry Fitzgerald's, put up like Randy moss was in a system. I mean, you got to play with Brady for a little while. Jerry Rice, see, I think this diminishes Jerry Rice, if we're taking, you know, your philosophy on this, mclovin. He played with Steve Young Joe Montana. You know, have diminished Jerry Rice a thousand times in front of you. How is it possible? You have the greatest offensive coach greatest quarterback in greatest wide receiver doesn't that strike you as a coincidence. They were all helping each other be great. It's just that it's impossible that you just happen to pluck the most talented quarterback ever the most talented receiver. Okay. Who is the most talented who's the most important one out of that group? I got Bill Bill walls. Oh my gosh. No doubt replaced Montana with young and kept going. Do you think Steve Young would have been successful? Another place new Montana was successful in Kansas City kinda. Well, I think Steve Young probably would have been. But I they all help each other. That's sort of my point. They all worked in that that cysts. Okay. Is Tony Gonzalez, then with your logic the greatest receiver of all time. No because he had a bunch of quarterbacks who couldn't hit the wide receiver. So they had to go down the seem to the tight end. No if they can't hit the wide receiver. What makes you think they can hit the tight end? That's everybody knows a quarterback. Who does have a big arm is going to go to the tight end because he's right there in the Middle East huge. Tar tight ends don't need good quarterbacks. So so rob gronkowski's not a whole Famer. You yourself have said when there's a rookie quarterback. They gotta draft. A get a good tight end to help him out. That is true. See, but everybody knew the ball was going to Gonzalez. In Tokyo, adults not far for the great. He's good. But, but if I'm going to do this, and I don't think these voters have ever I'm curious if anybody's ever done a study on this wide receivers based on their quarterback's ability. And and then you sort of. Add subtract, multiply divide, and you go who is the greatest quarter greatest wide receiver based on their quarterbacks. Not being great. Yeah. Yeah. Larry FitzGerald numbers. You could see when he had Kurt Warner. He was catching one hundred three balls one hundred ninety six ninety seven ninety Kurt Warner retires. Then the max hall era, I use that as a broad term eighty catches seventy one. He's healthy. He's not injured. Eighty catches. Seventy-one catches eighty to catch a sixty three catches the next season. He has one hundred nine catches. What's the caveat there?.

"Fields to Phoenix. I'm Greg Matzek. Welcome back to sports central on WTMJ, very busy week of baseball. As we gear up toward opening day. March twenty eighth a little less than three weeks away here for the Milwaukee Brewers in a very busy week here in the NFL off and running with. I know it's very weird, but it's illegal tampering period that the NFL has implemented is up until Wednesday at three o'clock. That's when all these signings can become official but already negotiations are hot and heavy one of the Packers done if a dip their toe on the water in what's to come here with their own existing free agents. Perfect outta welcome man on a very busy day in the NFL. It's journal sentinel Packers beat writer, Tom Silverstein. Hello, tom. Hey, greg. Well, it's busy for some writers. Not all. Your time is coming right. If you really do you think the Packers will be a week one of free agency player? Don't be a couple of guys, you know, last year. We didn't know anything about Jimmy Graham ticket that sort of behind the scenes and that deal got done. So I I wouldn't be surprised if something like that in the works. Don't know. I don't think that the top of this free agent classes that great I think the values some people may disagree. But the value is going to be and sort of middle ranks getting some bargains on guys who can't find deals with teams. And that's where you got to kind of make your head. Packers were involved last year in free agency, Jimmy Graham, Muhammad Wilkerson, come to mind, a little more bargain level with Mohammed Wilkerson, a little more big splash because it involved the release of Jordy Nelson with Jimmy Graham will there be addition by subtraction. Tom in other words, view invasion, the Packers parting ways with Nick Perry. Randall Cobb the like in the next couple of days in order to free up a little more room to find somebody else. Well, I would think. I think they've probably just, you know, even though I argued and that if they're gonna keep Jimmy Graham, they might as well keep area or are. They should keep Gurria headed Jimmy Graham. You just if you're going to keep both. I mean, you can't keep both is basically one Jim Graham is do a five million dollars roster bonus period. Four point eight million dollars roster bonus Jim Graham's gonna make nine million Kerry would make eleven million you gotta get rid of one. So they're picking them all indications picking Graham, and they're going to let parrot go. So that'll probably be the only major. They make. I don't think there's anybody else on the roster. You know, that's already that's making so much. They have to let them go. You know Matthews is a free agent. Cobb is a free agent. They just have enough guys bad. I mean, they have they have the salary cap if they need to make some moles. Why is it the wrong move in European to retain Jimmy grant? And let Nick Perry walkaway. Well, keep talking about or they keep talking about edge. Russia's new pass rush. You know, it's so critical. It's a good year for that. But typically, you're not gonna see guys just dominate the first year. So if you're gonna roll the dice, Jimmy Graham who I thought didn't look like he could run anymore. His numbers were. Okay. But you need a guy who can block why not take a if you're gonna take a flyer. Take it on a guy who sacks of quarterback, and we know periods been injured a lot. And that's that's a major factor. He's he's got a, you know, something chronically wanted his knee. Forget it. But if they think she was going to have good off season. He finally be healthy the sauce season. I might have out that dies. Are the Packers working on restructured contract or new contract for claim Matthews? No now is a completely unrestricted free agent. So. Backtracks are they working on on something new here that is maybe a little lower in value than his previous contract. I think they've had discussions. I think they would like his back. But I don't know, you know, it's one of those things where try sometimes gets in the way if he gets a deal that's equal to what Green Bay offers. Maybe he's just like I should just move on. You know, you didn't really want to pay me. I'll show you what I could do another. It'll be interesting to see what kind of interest. He gets. I think that and I don't know this. For fact, I just like to me seems like a guy New England, but picked up veteran guy. Juicing his legs. He can get after he could play Ulta ball. The thing. That's good about him. I until it he may not be dominant. Swats still cover could still play the run. He he's exactly that the guy that day. Like, we'll see if that happens. But you know, all it takes is one team that to outbid Packers. Tom Silverstein to walk you journal sentinel joining us during the legal tampering period. I think that's a bit of an oxymoron, Tom, but we'll save that discussion for another time. Anybody anybody agreed to terms with a team today that you feel like maybe that was one that got away from the Packers. Or would have been a good at logical fit for Brian Gouda coons. Some of the deals that flew by. I didn't think were what the Packers should do trae flowers was the top edge guy. But the Packers he's sort of a a New England skiing type of guy. He's he may not be the typical edge rusher that you want. He he's good. He's good at a lot of things. But I think they need a real big time pass rusher. And that's what I'll be looking for in the draft. And there's really not that many of those, you know, I'm sure they're gonna look into d for Kansas City does put him on the market. A couple other options, but the top of my head. I I don't think there's anybody that. Absolutely blew at on today. I think they made a little bit of a taste Sean gets the safety who was released by Jacksonville. And I thought that he would have been a decent edition. But I'm not sure what happened there either. Either their price his price got too high. He just wanted to sign somewhere else. I'm not sure, but they did they could go after them. Tom. What's the play here because the Packers are both a team that lacks impact players and lacks depth. So do you go heavy on a bigger name in try and get more impact? Or do you do more of the value play and try and get three or four guys along with your draft class, and and try and build the depth of the roster. Yeah. You value? Your years star players are going to remain the same. If you if you could add a star player. And that that would be great. But let's face it. How many real star players either out agency? I would argue that. None twenty Brown is a star player that could have been something they done. Levian bell is a star player. But you know, there's also carry out with that too. Because you haven't played in a year. So if you're not gonna get you know, Pro Bowl players spent get some really solid guys who can come in and help you to you know, if you can build on them, then you gotta hit in the draft. And they have two good draft picks, you know, twelve and thirty and as you can get another guy can contribute like, Jerry. You're Alexander and something you're younger guys start to come in. Then you make some improvement. But you know, you just I don't think you're gonna get a real devante Adams type star out of free agency. Do you think the Packers ended up holding onto their picks twelve and thirty in the first round? Or is that a question better asked and answered following the freeze window? I think they have to stay at twelve. At the very least they have to stay at twelve. And I would not trade that thirtieth pick. You may get a. More of an impact guy. I think you can there's enough depth in the draft of the guy. It's thirty pretty good. The guy at twelve could you? So you could you could wind up getting to really good decent suppliers. You could wind up getting a tackle. That's really good. That's tackle the NFL draft possibly. Action. So you could trade back out of thirty and get a couple more picks in what's considered one of the deepest drafts. Especially so sensitive linemen. I think draft is where they're gonna make. They're just improvement this year because of the quality of the draft. So I kind of. Better. Yeah. My gut feel too. And I think Brian good recognize the depth of the roster wasn't where needed to be on a year ago. That's why he did the trade down with the saints and and acquired the opportunity to draft dire. Alexander that was a nice pick. And he could truly turn out to be that impact player. You know? I think a year ago at this time or about this time, we thought Jimmy Graham would be an impact player, and he really wasn't much of an impact player we thought. Well, how would Wilkerson would be an impact player and he got injured it's cautionary tale. Right. You want to believe that because the Packers made the move that that player is going to work out. But free agency. It's a much roll of the dice as it is drafting an attack on the fourth round. Right. You'd never know what you're going to get out of these guys. I saw this incredible statistic. And I wish I could remember how many years it was. But it was something like in the last seven years or twelve years or something that only four free agents have become players who were signed went on to become Pro Bowl players. But that's just incredible. If you think about it, you think about the quality ios, or you know, some of the salaries that you seen, but what you see is that everybody franchises their best players. And so the market looks good. In reality. It's a secondary market because really talented guys are either money or are franchised. It's really interesting time here in the NFL, Tom. I appreciate your time. I know it's a busy time for you. Or it might be anyway at some point it's going to be busy, right? Pick up tomorrow up tomorrow on Wednesday. We'll see what happens. But. Yeah. In writing about Antonio Brown or anything like that. Right. Then probably not leave on bell. Either. My my guess is that your first your first tweet about something happening will be having to do something to do with a qualifying offer that was not not a qualifying offer. But the that roster bonus was not given to Nick Perry would be my guess,.

"And if I have to pick between one of those two I'm gonna go with OJ. How're you like both those guys more than here's the Donald. Here's a real Rudolph David joke. The real question is grunk if he's back. I don't think I think Rog retires. He said L take a week or two to figure it out which also tells me he'll retire. But my dynasty team is sending in letters and beckoning him back. I don't even know why why would want him back. Right. That's going back. I'm gonna just gonna play him. And if I play them on a play him over Chris Herndon, and Chris Herndon had a higher consistency rating. Then grunk I which you'd love to give all the credit to Herndon on that. But that really speaks to grunk gronk was never grunk. Never again why you know, we're gonna. Find out something art. Because I I'm with you that I lean OJ Howard slightly over Evan Ingram. But the Bruce Arians systems, I it's I don't buy into that. I know that there's a lot of look if you look at Bruce Arians and his tight ends. There's there's nothing there. But if you actually go and look at who he had like, you know, back in the day with high play this game with with Aaron Rodgers and Jimmy Graham, I I'm I'm gonna continue to play this game because Jimmy Graham as a man on the field film. Lies was bad. He looked to Howard's not going to be bad. OJ Howard is an actual talented in his prime NFL player right now Jim Graham used we do have anymore. We do have the limit. I mean, there wasn't a lot of work between Winston in. How're on this over the course of this season due to Fitzpatrick taking over for a portion of the year, look high upside guys in Joe coup Howard. Ingram talented young field. Stretching type of guys it'll be interesting. You know, I think a lot of people getting behind Baker all the hype that Cleveland will have next year. I think in joke who has that possibility of being a breakout guy too? I mean, he's just too good. What fringe oh. Could you do it? Four touchdowns isn't going to do it. He's going to need to get double digit range is going to need to be go to red zone guy could happen though. I mean, I think it's a possibility now in joker. Yeah. I do. Yeah. I mean, I think he's he's a freak. He's an absolute freaky, just more consistency. And that's the thing with tight ends. If you're going to spend capital on a tight end, you want the consistency. You want more than one hundred yards what you're buying. And I think that baker's going to spread it around and joker will never be his number one target the way that a Kelsey earn an earth's or, you know, those those truly elite guys at your hoping he becomes an maybe you could say the same thing with you know, OJ Howard. Because of Mike Evans, but I you know, I think that James has a tendency to hyper target Baker strikes me as someone that's gonna he's going to spread it wherever it needs to go. Based on what the coverage is doing in the consistency is what I worry about within the talents there. I encourage everyone out there all the listeners the foot clan. Go back if you didn't listen to the last couple of weeks of shows, we talked about the truth of every position all the fantasy finishes. We broke down all the players that at the wide receiver the quarterback position the running back position. So go back and listen to those these are important to take a look at, you know, next year by the time, you're drafting or halfway through the year when your mock drafting and might be easy to look at where these guys finished not realize what you really had in these players Colorado off a perfect example of a player who was completely disproportionate to what he actually gave you because of one game at the end of the season..

"Or was this a product of the team around? I will say this. When I watched Aaron Rodgers year. He did not some of this has to fall on Aaron Rodgers. I don't think it's long in the tooth. I don't think he's not going to be able to bounce back. I don't think this is the beginning of the end or any of those things some of this does have fallen him. There were passes that you just don't see Aaron Rodgers miss that. He. Missed on the red. I mean, he was just, you know, regularly missing some of those who is lacking his Metamucil. But yeah, he needed to be a little bit more regular. And you know, the the issue though is not just that. There is the double way Amee of outside of Davante Adams. There was just crap. There's a bunch of rookies trying to figure it out. They'd have some good games was Valco Valda scheduling would step up from time to time. Namias was there you have the ghost of Randall Cobb. Yeah. You know, he's he's done and then the ghost of Jimmy Graham. So that was part of it. And then you combine that with the worst imaginable least creative route concepts from head coach Mike McCarthy, which is why he gets the boot. So next year. It's going to be interesting to see what they do. Cobb is a free agent. I'm sure he's gone. There's no way would believe. So that they're gonna pay to bring him back. The early report is that they are going to pay to bring Jimmy Graham back. Sorry. Green Bay Packers fans. And but they've got you know, hopefully that the rookies they drafted last your step up and with their new office of a coach, they can they can do a little bit more. His ADP is going to be a fascinating thing to watch. Because he was always the number one of the number two quarterback that you would go after clearly he won't be number one. He'll be number two behind. You think you'll stick number two? I think he will stick at number two. He'll be drafted. Behind Pat, Mahomes, as my guess, sure. Next on the list..

"I don't really understand the guys that sign deals now. So glue Inskeep. A guy that was a late round pick a junior college kid. He's from like, the Scranton wilkes-barre area of Pennsylvania eight already been cut once. So this is smart by them. When you have a guy it's been cut once and they're offering them six million a year for point two million dollars signing bonus to totally change his life. Sometimes they'll take it even when they probably could would should wait until you know, they actually go ahead. And you know, see what the market bears he likes it there. He was happy with the money. But even even if he's happy with the money, he probably could get more. If you just waited. Till free agency the closer he gets to free agency. The more the colts probably would have been willing to offer. I do think it's interesting. The very interesting about Jimmy Graham. I thought that the Packers might move on from him. But it just goes to show how much people really value, you know, being able to have that kind of. Target especially in the red zone to give them a five million dollars roster bonus when he's done obviously, the same player used to be. One last night and the Redskins promoting quarterback coach Kevin O'Connell to OC while moving Matt cavenaugh into a senior offensive assistant role. It really is interesting bright. How many of these younger guys are getting these gigs? Like, I think Kingsbury is a year or two younger than me. Kevin O'Connell is younger than me. And I think that's kind of the trend is a lot of these. A lot of these teams want to get the younger guys calling the plays. They're all looking for that younger Gurun if you think about it like the Redskins had. You know, a guy like Sean McVeigh, but they needed him calling the place when he was there. So I think they're like, you know, what if we have a guy that might be the next guy. Let's let's give them a shot and see what he can do speaking by the way of young and cool, if you wanna look young cool, you gotta get some unbowed jeans. Literally what I wore last night. "Maybe like get another a pass catcher, that's a more reliable. Because again, you know, the ball wins getting up there in Asia and with his injuries this year. It made it more parent that the Seattle truly needs like Baldwin Baldwin just a turn dirty. So it it's one of those words you have to start thinking who's going to become the number one receiver on net squad going forward. I don't think it's locking. I think lock. It's still more of a change of pace guy would be suitable as a number two. But now the number one guy. You know, if you bring back Baldwin, maybe gotta figure out, you know, do we try to go down around of getting another dynamic tight end again, even though Jimmy Graham didn't pan out. You know, something on Seattle's gotta change. It's just that offense is just too limited. And they don't have any game changers. In the running back position. Like offense. Wind has to be dominant for that running game to truly take over games. Just 'cause again shod penny. Maybe he's the guy down the road. But outside of that one running yet, you was a non factor in a as I said, Chris Carson couldn't get anything going at all last night. So. We'll see how Dallas looks moving. Forward of the the fact that matter as we don't know in terms of who Dallas is going to be playing next week. I mean, it could be the Rams. It could end up being that they that they go up against the saints. But we'll we'll see we'll see how the the bears game goes. But you know, Dallas did just enough to win. I mean, nothing to impressive the defense sitter thing. And the offense kinda stayed out of the way in didn't didn't muck up the process by making critical turnovers in on their own ended field real really? So that's pretty much it for the game itself. But let's get into the Sunday matchups because a run a little low on time here. But in terms of the match ups today again, I talked about this chargers. Traveling for one o'clock game is just criminal. When you really think about it? Like, the NFL really screwed the chargers here. I think the charges are the better team. And the fact..

"It's an excellent question i have no closer to the answer the promise you that brandon marshall job oh yeah the thirty four year old wide receivers signing with the seattle seahawks tom pella cerro nfl network reported tuesday marshall broke the news on his instagram account posting a photo of himself skipping down the street in a seahawks shirt and this is going to be the thirteenth year for the wide receiver who really had a loss season in new york last year of season before that that was what the giants for for that with the jets was also a down year so wes seahawks need weapons brandon marshall in two thousand eighteen a weapon only theoretically nothing he's done on the football field the last two years suggest that he's going to be starting cal caliber wide receiver fact the giants went oh five with him in the lineup last year he averaged under nine yards per reception and took it took until the third week of the season before you had more more than receptions and i know he's being talked about as a red zone replacement for jimmy graham he's got three touchdowns on twenty red zone targets over the last two years jimmy graham has fifteen touchdowns on forty something targets it's an uphill battle to make the team i think i mean to make any team if he was looking for a team that he could wind up being started this is it they've tyler lockett doug baldwin and very little else amara darbeau i think they'd love to step up a third on pick from last year but not a lot of guys but just looking at the contract for instance it's two million dollars with incentives the minimum for a veteran of his age is about a million do the math he's basically getting about the minimum with no guarantees and he'll have to go make the team and just based on all the surgeries ad and how he looked last year i'm not so sure he will gets the cherry on top of one of the most suspect nfl offseasons league wide by the seahawks wow so you don't see this going anywhere i mean it didn't go anywhere last.

Will Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten make Hall of Fame on first try?

"Tiniest play the bear position that he plays the has more first team all rules grant gonzalez and gates yep normally the tide imposition no titan is going in on the first ballot they i think myself maybe ditka only like a handful of us had to wait like three years most of the time it's like a ten year wait so that's that's what it is does he belong absolutely you want to say he the first ballot hall of famer he has the numbers but if you look at it in the era did he dominate his aero did you like man he better than gates he's better than gonzalez he's better than gronk he's better than jimmy graham i don't know if you can say that skill but the number says he should be in the hall of each should be in the hall of fame this is tough for me too because i'm obviously a fan of the dallas cowboys and i'm a fan of jason wit is he not one of the alltime greatest guys that you've ever run across i have not a single bad word to say about jason witten and i'll throw on top of everything you just said he's the best blocking tied in not only of his era but but he could you could make case he's the greatest blocking tight end ever because he was like another tackle for them in the run game he's he's he's more dick mackey is then he is killing ozzy must sell correct well said so he's gonna wind up with the second most tied in receptions of all time the second most yards of all time but our man tony gonzalez is just he ran away and hid yes he's so far behind that he could play three more years and he never would have caught him he's fifth and touchdowns among tied in pretty good but then we get to that bottom bottom line that you brought up jason played in eight playoff games and he won two two and six now see the quarterback is he the middle linebacker no he can't control all the above his team not good enough to win those games you can argue shannon sharpe.

Muhammad Wilkerson, Green Bay Packers reach agreement on deal

"Yeah the bears are getting better they're doing all this work and they still got no chance of competing with the packers and the vikings now right i would think though and matthew stafford's not going anywhere in detroit forgot about the lions i'm fascinated by the packers because this is a brand new era for how long green bay never spend money in free agency with ted thompson now they would dabble every so often julius peppers as one veteran that they did sign a more high profile guy but now you're talking about jimmy graham robbed a mosque you covers the packers for us just reports them muhammad wilkerson is gonna sign with green in bay my opinion is they're feeling the pressure now because aaron rodgers is too great to walk away from this game with only one super bowl title so i think that plays into there is more pressure letting jordy nelson go probably because he doesn't run very well anymore but there's a new gm and a new philosophy in green bay and kirk cousins people debate that contract look the vikings are giving him a fully guaranteed deal because they think they can win the super bowl right now not next year the year after that signing kirk cousins is about winning a championship in two thousand eighteen so jeff who's under more pressure at this point the packers to maximize whatever the opportunity is for aaron rodgers or kirk cousins maximize whatever the opportunity is for the vicario jason i i would say it's vikings management rick spielman is actually under more pressure than kirk cousins because cousins has got his money he played the system per.

Jimmy Graham needs Jordy Nelson-like connection with Aaron Rodgers

"Right so i like what the bears are doing they're being smart they're pretty much spending money when they need to all right the bears are going to be a good team this season and then you've got the green bay packers signed jimmy graham but at jordy nelson's expense jordy nelson has been cut by the green bay packers right jordy nelson had a great career green bay but i just think is prime is way past them and he's just a shell of what he wants was all right i could be wrong but i doubt it is what it is but now jimmy grams thirteen dues play with amazing quarterbacks all three teams he's played with right had drew brees russell wilson aaron rodgers not right you i think that jimmy graham is going to return to the old jimmy graham no fire to say is he score more than seven touchdowns this season the over under seven i'll take the over but it's going to be at eight nine he's not getting ten this year if he gets ten i'm wrong and i'll be surprised but nonetheless i just don't see it happening i think jimmy graham he's going to be a good addition for that team and maybe it's just his seattle years are kind of scared me away from what to think as far as what he could do a green bay maybe that's all it is all right and that could be it but i just i'm not sure i think a wait and see type thing it's like it with a richard sherman right not sure how well which really is going to play with the forty niners we gotta wait and see once he steps on the philip and same with jimmy graham i mean is air roger's gonna make sure he's a big part of that offense or is he going to be feeding guys like devante adams who got a queue breakout your the season right demonte adams is far and away the best player on that offense decides aaron rodgers right he's better than jimmy graham that's no doubt so it's going to be interesting to see how it all ends up for green bay and as far as jordan.
