"By now Jimmy Edmunds had no shortage of leads to work in the pair of crimes. He was trying to saw the murder of K Parsons and the shooting of neighbor, Becky and then another new league a big one. Phone call from from our jail. They have an inmate that is requested to speak to me so Michael Miss. Jacobs Jerry, Jacobs. Out of his cell and take him to an interview room. Those Yoga. Jerry Jacobs was serving time for a misdemeanor parole violation. What's his story? He was pretty upset Jerry tells me that. As he was. In jail, he saw the news and he saw what happened to Cape Parsons, and that's I'm. He looks at me and he says I think I know who did. I said really. Tell me. He says. I believe my sister had something to do with it. And who was Jerry Jacob Sister Swell becky sears KS best friend and neighbor. Right, I. Wasn't expecting that. They dropped a bombshell. Becky's brothers said he knew all about the affair between his sister and David. He told the investigator Becky had once confided in him that David was trying to end. Come to me one day. There in the parking lot crime and I was like you know what's wrong. And, that's when I should. Telling US is having affair. Hitting goes on to say that Becky was has been pretty upset. Crying because David won't Lee K-, he won't leave his wife to be with her. Jacobs then revealed his sister had no intention of giving up on David or letting him stay married to Kay, she had asked me. I knew of anyone or if I knew a way. That, we can do this to kill K.. Make it look an accident like. Cut Her break run on the car. I'll make like an accident or do something in that. If eight Jacob, said at first, he thought he was joking on delight. Well, that's okay, you know sometimes. We all feel that way about people you know she's like no, she's like I really want. Did she said she said? Can we do this so? seriously. Yes, somebody killed her. Yes, she wanted me to. Would show she shopping around for someone that can do in k. is her romantic rival. It was a stunning revelation a real doozy, a lovesick woman, plotting to kill her best friend next door neighbor, so she could have her friend's husband all to herself. You've got a wild story and a wild theory on your hands most definitely I mean this. This case has taken so many twists and turns. It's unbelievable. Forget about the smash and grab robbery. That's gone out the window. Oh. Yeah, we're looking at some. Some premeditation and planning here, but Edmonds had to consider the source of the story. Of course jailhouse stories are always troublesome. Trying to do themselves some good. Definitely one thing the brother said was easy to confer. He didn't do the job. He was in jail at the time of the murder, so if becky was behind it all who helped her? Jacob said was another member of the family. Investigators should look becky's son Chris the young man with his own house. Jerry had been staying there before he was behind bars, and said Chris also knew about Becky's affair, and how desperate she was, she would call Christopher almost every night. And cry in sell him stuff and he would get off the phone. Is Jamal. Yet was wrongly. You know what it is. You know a small. Might Yeah. Like David again he's like. David again. Is like. She just needs k. out of her life. You know stuff like that now. That was a shocker. Investigators had had their eye on Becky's other son Michael from the get go. I was surprised to hear that way. I was expecting to hear that it was Michael Really. been learning so many things about Michael and his past and all of that. Michael. Christopher Christopher No. His main Christopher are a little bit closer to me Michael. Don't like along. No amount. Seeing rally still edmonds decided it was time to bring in Michael for a second round of questioning and this time the investigator turned up the heat. Why? It's. A. My winging anymore at first Michael said he didn't even know that. Becky David were having an affair. I know about the failed your mom David. Don't waste of me. Don't play stupid. I'm telling you right now. It'll be real. Okay, this is your one we can't. Get yourself out of a whole. Load from it gets pretty hot and heavy in that inner ear this. Listen? I know what's going on, okay? I know your mom when it K-, dead! Okay, you want to go to prison for the rest of your life. You need to start talking here now, okay? sweaty. Then Edmonds moved onto the million dollar question. Becky ever asked Michael to kill K.. She hid asked us. I know what your mother and I. Know You WanNa protect your mother. All Right? You're twenty two years old, right? You Might WanNa look out for number one right now. Okay? She never be home to me instead when you kill. She's never said when you kill someone. Even after a three hour grilling I will run you. I am telling Michael Never. EDMUNDS had to face the fact that Michael was an all likelihood telling the truth. By then they'd come to believe his alibi was solid and they'd figured out the glass from the crime scene that had so suspiciously turned up on Michael. Shoes could be easily explained. Michael had gone to look at the smashed in back door with the contractor just before police arrived. Did you have anything to do with it? If I did I wouldn't be sitting here. Did your mother ever ask you? Absolutely. Not Absolutely not only thing she's ever done is just like anybody else. Ryan and rose my cut him off. wish you giles deficient cliff. That's the only thing I'd ever heard her same about hiring anybody. Did you think that your mother could possibly have done the thing that they were accusing her of? And I don't think she could do it. Jimmy Edmonds wasn't so sure, and he still had to wrestle with the vexing problem of becky shooting. who was behind that and why? It was time to go talk to the object of Becky's affection David and find out what he knew. A guilty man or just a worried. We get up briefly walk out of the interview and talking to himself..

"March, twenty, fifth, two, thousand, nine, just after nine am. Sheriff's deputies had rushed to this quiet residential street in Growth Down Georgia to investigate not one but two burglaries worried about her friends and neighbors. Saying Becky to Baldwin left work and headed home to what shockingly had become a crime scene. You lots of vehicles and uniforms and a lot of police cars, the entire corner, all taped Alpha, crime tape now you see two houses that I have to pass to get home, and you wonder what's going on line. And what the responders found inside? These homes would put this neighborhood into full on panic mode. Investigator, Jimmy Edmonds entered the home of cave, a little league mom through that shattered glass backdoor. The won the contractor I noticed. then. Edmund Sawn a trail of blood immediately I could start seeing in spots of blood on the floor like an empty Coffee Cup. They'd been spilled right there on the floor from McDonald's. McDonald's food bag on the floor and a purse. And I started seeing signs of blood on the Sofa in the living room on the carpet, and then you go into the four year area. There's a lot of blood on the walls on the door on the floor. So this is suggesting a moving struggle. Definitely, it looks like the homeowner came home and surprised burglar in her. and. A struggle ensued where she was being. The bloody path, let Edmonds further into the House to a bloody handprint on the door out to the person's garage, and you can tell there is. There's more beating going on in the garage There was blood spatters on the walls, so she was already bleeding for she got to the garage, and that's where this apparent struggle had ended. The deputies found forty one year old K Parsons lying there on the floor, and you ever seen like that nothing nothing drastic now. She was beaten so severely in her head. It was pretty bad. But Amazingly K. was alive. EMT's hurried her to the hospital or life hanging by threads. She still had a heart meet, but she was in a very bad way very very bad way. Investigator Edmonds made the call to alert case husband. He was in Los Angeles for work. I was able to talk to him on the phone Let Him, know. He needed to come back years. Quick as possible. So how did he take that news? It was pretty devastated. I tried not to tell him on the phone. I try to tell him you know you need to come back There's been an accident you know. But he guest pretty much what was going on? 's husband David booked a flight home as investigators turn their attention to the house next door. That's where case for and Becky. The mother with five kids lived. Could there be another victim? They're the point of entry we could see was the back door also there and we found spots blood on the back door inside Becky's place was ransacked. Quick Relief as they looked around, there were no new victims. The blood smears they noted appear to be from the crime scene next door that means you have somebody that is brave enough or just cruel enough to just beat this woman so severely and that going to go next door in another. Becky had been at work that morning with their nineteen year old son Christopher the two of them raced home to the scene and met up with her older son Michael they're both there, so your mother and Christopher there yeah! They put together at the same time with Columbia County Officer We all walk around back to case House and my mom. She sounds weird, Straw she's. She's screaming KS name. She chose up at her house. While you're all in the backyard, they're right. They show up on scene and they're you know wondering what's going on and they're. They're pretty. Pretty shaken up. Everyone else in Becky's family was accounted for her husband Tony. A long haul trucker was away on the Rue. Her three younger children were fine at school and daycare. The investigator said. Then turned to K-. Understandably, she was upset. Yeah, she didn't know what happened to her neighbor. Her neighbor had left an ambulance. And in fact, Edmund says Becky was less concerned about that burglary in her own home and more anxious to get to see her neighbor. Michelle Emerson is a longtime friend of Becky who also lived nearby. Her sister drove Becky to the hospital to get to the hospital her. You know she was. Demanding to get to see her friend to go to bed side for Kale. Yes, she wanted to get there. So what hospital they go to news of the attack quickly spread to another close friend of KS Suzanne Frazier I hung up the phone, our shaking, and so I called my boss I said I gotta go. I gotta go and left broke some laws. I Ran Red Lights. I flew I. Mean I just went. To Mira rushed to the hospital to. Did you get to her bedside or no? Be Able to take a look in at did not I stayed in the waiting wrong. There were a whole lot of other people in the waiting room, but the prognosis was very bad, wasn't it machines keeping alive at that point even yes. The friends all kept an edgy vigil for news about KS condition, waiting for her husband to get to her bedside. Lives all changed in an instant, a home invasion burglary in broad daylight, a woman fighting for her life, and now a perpetrator on the loose. You don't know whether you have a guy in the move could be ready to bust into another house on your right exactly exactly. We don't know if we had a madman loose here. You know setting up security on these streets on every one of these streets we're going to every one of these houses were stopping anything that comes in or comes out of this whole neighborhood, talking to everybody at your neighborhood, and there's somebody out there. Who's apparently very violent person. Yes, you got to be terribly scared. I was. thinking that they're someone who's walking around the neighborhood, watching and seeing what people are leaving and basically. attack. On hot springs drive, the investigators knew for sure they had a serious crime on their hands, but as learn more from that bloody scene. The shock waves only kept rolling..

"About your performance. What you're saying they talk about that too but ultimately they go Kim your minute let me ask you something? I'm like No no no. You're not asking me that but But it and then our T. crowd they'll talk about the man who wasn't there. Simple Plan Schorr Sports sports when I'm in Texas. It's the Alamo and Friday night lights in So what do you get about most about Friday night. Lots When people are asking me questions about that you know it's always a lot of people say it's their favorite football movie or sports movie it's real? It's real pretty real movie and the Dad we've talked about. Four was a coach high school coach right but he was a basketball coach. So hoosiers was always my thing. That's it I mean for me I showed I. I have an an eleven year old boy and eight year old boy a six year old and I showed him hoosiers and You know it took a while for them to to get into it. Eventually they did but I keep telling them like the rim to the floor and the free throw line to the baseline I mean. That's just the same remember that in life life does not matter how big the stages it's still the same game. I know it's so good and I was on tour with our bandbox masters recently and we played Indianapolis. And I've known David an spot for years who directors and Rudy as well Henry and David Call me said. Hey I'm coming down the show tonight. You know uh you got time to hang out on the bus you know before so. Yeah absolutely. Come on down so David Nar talking and and I said how many guys still live around here you know and he said well. Let's see Marras and Let's see who else you a couple of guys you know and Mary sexually played Jimmy. Chitwood the guy who made the list shot right and so one way or the other Couple of guys came down and And David and onstage. I I did this thing which it was so funny like the last guys to get it. They were sitting in the back of this rock club right and I didn't hear any hooting and hollering from them and the rest of the audience. Maybe they weren't clued into hoosiers. But I did something I thought was really clever. which is I got a tape measure from guitar tech and I said I said Coming in and I said do me a favor whole this around that side of the stage and I took it over here and I handed it to our keyboard player. Ted I send up take that all the way to the end. Your keyboard hells it and I said how how. How long is that? They said You know twenty five feet whatever it was and I said I think you'll find that. That's exactly the dimensions of our stage by calm and and nobody got it and and later I asked David about it and and he said it goes on. We got it I I. I didn't hear you yell or anything. So he's so billy Bob Thornton here on the rich Eisen show and I bring that up all the time in. Just today's contemporary sports world for instance when the giants just sat ally Manning Daniel Jones. And everybody's going crazy. They drafted Daniel Jones. Right and I think of the scene where the crowd is going nuts because coach Dale says those guys on the floor and he's a man short because he's trying to teach everybody. A lesson he holds is up the game plan in his leather Satchel to all the screaming fans. Like I have a plan I believe in this. I thought about it with your colts. Guy Andrew Luck. Yeah saying I'm stepping away. And like what are you thinking. And he's like waving his Satchel in the hoosier state. Exactly you know what I'm talking to be no doubt about it so yeah yeah perfect of a metaphor what did you. What did you think about when lock stepped away because you are again? You're colts fan. Through your love of man incorrect remember correctly scarola correct. Okay and I you know. I never begrudge anyone what they think they need to do with their life. Personally I mean I if the guy thinks he needs to go I think he he he has a reason for it and you know I mean obviously initially you're sad and you're scared bright but the new kids not doing bad knees me percents tore up. Oh Atlanta oh I know and and and I love the fact that the the coach Frank Reich no has always one with the backup whether he was the backup for the bills right his super bowl team he was the offensive coordinator full for with Nick. foles right now. Here's the backup. He was the second choice. Technically as a coach. Sure kind of works on all that frontal absolutely so. Yeah I got some hope there I mean so you know I have the greatest sports year of my my life Two thousand six when colts you know went to Miami and The bears the bears and I was there and and I was at two games of the world series that year when the cardinals won the series was that was that was that the David freeze known. That was yeah. No yeah because later on this is when wainwright you know was a still a closer You know and carpenter nervous still there. Jimmy Edmonds all those guys and so I got to Well one one funny thing that happened in that year I mean because like I said for me like the Colts win the Super Bowl. The Carl's win the series. You can't beat that Everything after that it's been like you know kind of all right. Let down even when they get in the playoffs or in the series until we played the Rangers in that Miracle Year and right and all that but one way or the other Bruce Bruce suitor who we are here on shore of and He he was going to throw the first pitch out. And we were back there. And the you know in the clubhouse and messing around us talking to Bruce and he said I'm GonNa Throw the first pitch out and it was raining. That was the game that ended up getting rained out and so He threw splitter that was his thing and so I'm catching him back there. Come on you know I'm thinking I'm catching Bruce suitor and I played ball so you know but I was a pitcher was never a. It's like when they talk about a band. It's like we have five musicians and drummer was pitcher. So I didn't hit the ball very well. so anyway I'm catching the ball and he's just throwing it and he's older now meets throwing. Probably you know seventy miles an hour to me. Your warming upper upper suitor. He is Ask them like an idiot. I said you gotta throw me the splitter. I just got to see what it looks like Hit me right where it hurts. So you're you you put there right in front of the chest and then it's like where it hurts and then you split I did. I was not equipped for. Yeah I mean I quit for it but it wasn't equipos. Don't get me wrong so you you don't ask for the split. Finger is basically is is the story if you've never caught one before the last four now your cardinals fan so this year has been remarkable Especially we were talking. That are Billy Bob Thornton here on the rich Eisen show. We'll talk a little bit more Goliath in a second. That when you're talking about rivalry games to sweep the cubs and essentially eliminate them from playoff contention in Wrigley field in front of it. That's it doesn't get much better than unbeliever hasn't happened since nineteen twenty one. You know Johnny Evers was probably Jen Stat right there. Yes but I I had no idea I I was gonna be happy if we came out of Wrigley splitting it to us right. That would have been out of okay. Great at least we didn't go in there and lose three games not not that. I don't have hope that we're going to do. I don't mean you know you hope you know. Get three out of four but to to sweep the cubs. Four Games especially It Wrigley is unbelievable so the cubs really just. I don't know if the cubs tanked as much as Carl just been magical lately. I mean. It's like the cardinals cardinals won't let anybody beat them right now. It's like an and they're notorious for not coming back. I mean most years when the cardinals get up three to nothing in the first inning. Win It But we weren't exactly eighteen. Came back in the last couple of innings and one games. They've been doing that this year while you know nobody around here dodger. Japan's aren't talking about the cardinals at all about zero. Yeah nobody's talking. I mean they're just they. They would sneak up on everybody if they continue. The brewers are on on fire right now to be more further brewers than anybody right now. No kidding yeah right Billy Bob Thornton here on the rich Eisen show all right. Let's talk a little bit more Goliath. Elias here Now this season involves A drought in Central Valley in California. Here so what what. What else can you tell us about season three? You say it's the best one yet. what do you like about it. That's going to get streaming on October fourth on Amazon. I think it's it's first of all. The story is current story. It's an actual. Problem is going on here in a US you know the thing about water rights central California and and drought in it. That's where all the food comes from I think Because of that story gives it a sort of Chinatown Element and sure does I I. I attend to like playing this character when he's in the field more than in the courtroom. The first season had a lot of courtroom second season didn't have much courtroom at all this season as kind of a mixture of one into where. Yeah there's some court in it but I'm still out there like Nicholson in Chinatown the town and losing your nose. I don't lose my number putting your nose where it doesn't belong and Exactly I more than that I I lose my mind kind of in this one okay and Or at least think I'm losing my mind It's very sort of oddly a Surreal season you know. There's some crazy stuff season two is I mean you could. You could definitely chalk it up to that. I mean there were some other oddly real stuff and then. You've got Dennis Quaid in this season as well. Who's my old buddy and How do you go with Dennis at least twenty five? I'm I've known him. Probably the thirty something years but We go back as buddies about twenty five years. Do you ever worked with him. The first time you did the Alamo together but I was playing Davy Crockett Crockett. He was Sam. Houston such tutor from battles together. Okay and But we were always pals you know we've been through marriages divorces kids everything thing together and And we're neighbors now only lives like half a mile from the kids and so that's down in Bellflower we're here. Of course okay sure but anyway We've both lived in Downey for Awhile in south gate and now we're down to buffalo but but one way or the other It was good to have him on the set. You now to be able to see her but every day they made the mistake of putting our trailers next to each other so there was a whole lot of people on walkies. You know sayings anybody seen Dennis for Billy so yeah but you you still nailed it. You still got dough. Yeah we got it done for we just do it our way co how season. "He's name intersect tore up. Oh Atlanta oh I know and and and I love the fact that the the coach Frank Reich no has all ways one with a backup there. He was the backup for the bills right his super bowl team. He was the offensive coordinator full for with Nick foles calls right now. Here's the backup. He was the second choice technically as a coach. Kinda works on all that frontal absolutely so yeah. I got some hope there I mean and so you know I have the greatest sports year of my life. Two thousand six is when colts you know went to Miami and and the bears the bears and I was there and I was at two games of the world series that year when the cardinals won the series was that at the was Adams. was that the David freeze. No that was yeah no yeah because later on this is when wainwright you know was it's still a a closer. you know and carpenter was still there. Jimmy Edmonds Yeah all those guys and so I got to a well one one funny thing that happened in that year because I'm yeah I like I said for me like the Colts Super Bowl to Carl's with a series. You can't beat that everything everything after that. It's been like you know kind of all right. Let not even when I get in the playoffs or in the series until we played the Rangers in that Miracle Year and right and now all that but one way or the other Bruce suitor who we are here on my sure and he he was gonNA throw the first pitch out and we were back there and the you know in the clubhouse and messing around us talking to Bruce and he said it almost throw the first pitch out and it was raining that it was a game that ended up getting rained out and so he threw splitter that was his thing and so I'm catching him back there. Come on you know I'm thinking I'm catching. Bruce suitor and I played ball so so you know but I was a pitcher wasn't never it's like when they talk about a band. It's like we have five musicians and a drummer was pitcher so I didn't hit the ball very well. so anyway. I'm catching the ball. He's just throwing it and he's older. Now meets throwing probably seventy miles an hour to me your warming upper upper suitor. He is ask them like an idiot. I said you gotTA throw the splitter. I just got to see what it looks like. hit me right where it hurts. You put there right in front of the chest yeah and then and then you split Yeah I. Why did I was not equipped for you. I mean I'm a quipped for it but it wasn't equipped for Irag. Don't get me wrong so you don't ask for the split. Finger is basically story if you've never caught one before the last four now you're at cardinals fan so this year has been remarkable especially. We were talking that Billy Bob Thornton here on the rich Eisen show. We'll talk a little bit more. Goliath finished second that when you're talking about rivalry games to sweep the cubs and essentially eliminate them from playoff contention in Wrigley field in front of it. That's it doesn't get much. Better than unbelievable hasn't happened since nineteen twenty. One you know Johnny Evers was probably Gen stats right there. Yes but I had no idea I was going to be happy. If we came out of Wrigley splitting it to right that would have been out of it okay great. At least we didn't go in there. Lose three games not that I don't have hope that we're GONNA. Do you know you hope you get three out of four but to sweep the cubs and four dame's especially it. Wrigley is unbelievable so the cubs really just I don't know off the cubs tanked as much as the cartilage just been magical lately. I mean it's like the cardinals won't let anybody beat them right now. It's like an and they're notorious. Yes for not coming back. I mean most years when the cardinals get up three to nothing in the first inning would win it but we weren't exactly team that came back in the last couple of innings and one games. They've been doing that this year while you know nobody around here. Dodger fans aren't talking about the cardinals at all about zero yeah. Nobody's talking about it. I I mean they're just they. No kidding yeah all right yeah Billy Bob Thornton here on the rich all right. Let's talk a little bit more Goliath here now this season involves a drought coach in Central Valley in California here. I think it's first of all the story is current story. It's an actual problem is going on here. So now you know the thing about water rights central California and and drought to nuts where all the food comes from I think because because of that story gives it a sort of Chinatown Element and sure does I. I tend to like playing this character when he's in the field more or than in the courtroom the first season had a lot of courtroom second season didn't have much courtroom at all this season as kind of a mixture of one and two to where you know there's some. Corden it but I'm still out there like Nicholson in Chinatown and losing your nose. "I just had no idea I hadn't I was very weird. Very, we also just want to point out that it was Barbara Pavan and Dylan's Rouse's one your aaniversary and. Oh my God. As single time. No, they're an amazing amazing. He posted on high level. But sweet sweet something is really annoying that he does which I get is something some artistic freedom thing. Is he his entire grid is of this, like image that I don't even know what it is? And then he always whatever his most recent Instagram pictures, he leaves it up for like a couple of a couple of days, he deletes her archives. Probably. Archives. But for as far as we can tell he deletes it. So he posted a picture of her. And he wrote one whole year with smooth from lists Mukhi from China NYC to the rest of the world. I'll say this happened is for private. But my life is better now. Love them. Really do. I really I know I feel we're getting through Julie. Okay, this next one probably only pies to Bravo fans, but I think it's interesting, and then the lesson I want to tell you about it. So Meghan king Edmonds. She was on real arms county. Her husband. She's thirty four. Her husband is forty eight. He is Jimmy Edmonds. He played for the Saint Louis cardinals. Now he's like a announcer. If you ever let me just set the scene by saying, if you ever watched the show, their marriage was always not necessarily topic of discussion because of issues, but he was just never that warm like it always had this vibe of she was putting in more effort than he was. I don't know. You didn't want to had no idea that was the general by the key. I never got a good, like good energy from him in the sense of like you never saw him like excited to want to be with her or anything like that was. And maybe I was like, okay, maybe he's just not that outwardly affectionate, so this weekend. All about the T dot com is the website reported that Jimmy had allegedly reconnected with a former lover lover in March two thousand eighteen wall, Meghan was pregnant with her twin sons. So apparently, like Meghan left the girl in angry voicemail. And this, this website, also published the screen shots of the sex between Jimmy and this girl. So he said to us weekly in a statement that he quote, regrettably, had a lapse in judgment, and engaging in inappropriate conversation with this person. But there was no type of relationship or physical contact clearly made a very poor decision to expose myself in my family to this type of person for this. I am truly sorry and sought forgiveness from my wife. So, Meghan was like not even remotely ready to talk about this. But kind of felt like she had since everybody was reporting on it. So she wrote a blog post, and she says, which, by the way, if you have even one percent interest of this read the blog posts, it was the most raw candid, like vulnerable approach to this type of situation that I've seen in a really long time and it wasn't long and she writes, I found out the. Same way you guys did in the tabloids. In the tabloids. I never left, her voice mail fraud for the other woman. I call Jimmy and he confessed to me that he had engaged. He had exchanged lewd photos with this woman, over the course of several months and a physical relationship never existed. He paid her off to protect me. So I'd never find out, do I believe him. I don't know because I don't trust him anymore, physical or not. He still had an affair. And he admits this to me. She also writes in her post that one of the reasons that this is even extra challenging is because they just got the news that their son heart might have an adult neurological disorder. So she finds out her son may have a neurological disorder. She finds out pulp with the public that her husband has been sexing, other women for the past like year that the husband and paid this woman off. I mean this was like some Tristan Thompson shit. Yeah. No. It was..

"Well, it's time for our semi regular visit with the voice of the cardinals. He is none other than Mike, Shannon, Mr. Shannon. Welcome back. Thank you, gentlemen. Tough loss yesterday. Michael Walker did a pretty good job pitching for six innings there. The bullpen came and gave it up on a walk off double their, Mike. Not the way that you want to end the series that they had a chance to break even on. Yeah. That's for sure. But now they're going to go to Pittsburgh. And you got us this white those things off because we play this Milwaukee club. The home in Rhode Hohmann road, home and road. I six weeks of the season. So you don't have to beat up on them. Or you're gonna find yourself behind central central division champions, a lot of things to like about what we have seen out of this ballclub, the the hitting Paul Goldschmidt. Just absolutely unbelievable. He's on fire cardinals hitting nine home runs over those four games. So there's some positive takeaways. Well, there's no doubt about that. But the real takeaway, the wind in the losses in plain and simple. You've got to the championship teams. Win those close games. They win the walk off games. Okay. So now they knew they were going to have to start with. With ROY walking. Now, they go to Pittsburgh. They got to win the two games at Pittsburgh. And then they come home and they're in good shape, and they'll take on San Diego. So this is a really good start for the cardinals. There's no doubt about it. Yeah. I'm looking forward to today's ballgame. Adam Wainwright who had a pretty good spring is on the mound. A lot of people didn't think we'd see this day, Adam Wainwright, stepping up on the hill. And starting a ballgame big day for him today. Big day for him in a big day for this team. There are plenty of triple. You know, he's the fifth starter now and the four daughters up there. They did. Okay. But they didn't win the ball games. And that's what you need to do. There were new gave up nine runs. You gotta score ten. Okay. Playing simple and the championship teams. Do that simple. They win those big games. This is a big name. But it ain't no it's gonna be fun to watch. And no doubt. You know? I I understand baseball has changed in the strikeout is a big part of the game now but forty seven strikeouts for the cardinals over a four game series. And maybe more troubling. The number of strikeouts is striking out with runners in scoring position. And that's got to be a real concern here. There's no doubt about it. You have to put the ball in play. And until they until you're realize until you start paying them that way. And that's the that's the problem. Okay. They're all they're doing is paying you for the home runs and they're not subtracting for strikeouts. And they're not subtracting for a lot of things. Okay. They're just doing the process or how about the minuses. And you know, how you play the game playing assemble the game is James. But that doesn't mean you have to change just because my neighbor cut grass twice a day. I don't have to do it. But once. I reckon I can probably help you find somebody. I cut that grass. You talk about put the ball in play that really was the tale of the tape yesterday. Because in the in that comeback by the brewers, you get the little ground ball single by Braun that doesn't happen if he strikes out. And then you you get the pop up that Matt carpenter lost that ball fell. And then in the ninth inning. The little tap back to the mound by Kane went off, Jordan Hicks, his glove. Those things those banners strike out. That's a different ballgame. Well, you bring up a good point. Because I think that's the only make two errors in that ball game. And they're only only make one air really in the whole series of four games. But misplace plays a lot of times. They don't count her there's but they're misplace anywhere in that ball has to be caught. And so now, we turn our attention to Pittsburgh. We're going to be a part of their opening day opening day here in Saint Louis. Mike is such a special amount gives almost a World Series like feeling if you're the cardinals, and you're going to participating your second opening day on the road is the preparation different. Oh, yeah. There's no doubt about it. And especially in Saint Louis because there's no doubt that opening day in Saint Louis is special. It's special all over any opening day. I don't care whether it soccer, whether it's a football. Whether it's basketball, it doesn't matter. Opening day in St Louis baseball. The cardinals is something special, and it will be special this Thursday when we take on San Diego team, and you'll be among the I guess it's sixteen cardinal hall of famers between Cooperstown. And the cardinals hall of fame heaven all sixteen living cardinal hall of famers together. That's gotta be just to be among them. That's gotta be especially if you've been doing this long time. But that's gotta be special for Mike, Shannon. No. There's no doubt about it. Especially us see the likes of stand your your red Cheney. So we won't see ever again. Now. And now you've got the the new breed of why do you got? Bobbleheads for with Ozzy, and Bruce sooner these guys are special. Okay. You got it in or Jimmy Edmonds of these guys are special evening to take advantage Willie McGee take advantage of taking a look at these guys because they're not gonna be there forever. That's for sure. That's one of the things about the cardinals. We guy was Michael in our in Jupiter for a week. For the final week of spring training. And one of the things about the cardinals in we share that with the Miami Marlins down there. The Miami Marlins are a relatively new franchise. And so you don't have a ton of Miami Marlins players, you know, retired players coming back. You look at that cardinals spring training, and you've got Jim Edmonds out there working on outfield drills. And you've got is e Smith taking ground balls on the infield. Not every team is fortunate enough to have that kind of history or no doubt about it and Brock and was there for a couple of weeks. Bob Gibson comes in the cage me, so these are the kind of guys you you hang your head on. There's no doubt about it. Well, we're talking about all these hall of famers hall of fame for baseball's in Cooperstown. And there's one person who I think ought to be in Cooperstown. He's been in the broadcast booth for five decades for the St Louis cardinals. If there's anybody in baseball. That ought to be in that broadcast wing of the baseball hall of fame. It's our guest. Mike, shannon. Mike. I hope it happens. And I hope it happens. Quick partner. Very kind of you. But I'll be there Thursday. You can hang your hat on that one. He's Mike, Shannon. The voice of the cardinals. We're going to bring you cardinal baseball. Pre game show starts at eleven thirty today on KOMO X first pitch at twelve zero five animal, Wayne right on the mound and Mike. Thanks so much. We'll see at the home opener. You.

And you don't you certainly deserving of being part of hall of Famer. But you know, I guess for you being a guy who grew up in the area and watching the cardinals as a kid to be mentioned as a nominee for this hall of fame has got to be a treat for you. But obviously being a hall of Famer is something you're looking forward to you know, you don't know what it means like being from the area and growing up watching those guys that already have the red coach just even being in the same sentence or paragraph is those guys were those red coach is very meaningful. And maybe one day to be up there. Rubbing elbows with him with those red coats on out there for the beginning of the season. Yeah. Means the world to me it'll happen one year. Maybe I don't know win. But you know, you just keep brain. And hoping that happens in one day, doesn't I get the Priscilla? You know, a childhood dream is to be part of something special that fraternity as the cardinals hall of Famer, and what can you say about the organization is and even things like fantasy camp. When so many of you guys the alumni, and so many of the hall of famers comeback and and share time together share memories and get back in uniform together. It's gotta be something that even if a lot of clubs do something like that it's different because of the commitment from guys who have worn that uniform. It's not even so much ex players. These guys that come to the fantasy camp. You know, once we've always talked about a family atmosphere with the Colonel during. Anybody puts on that jersey with that kernels on the van across your chest. I mean, they become part of the family, and there's guys down there. That have been going for twenty seven years, and they're good friends with the ex players and we build relationships with them. We go to AGA games with only go to we do all kinds of sober these guys and I brought a whole team down to Florida with me my softball team and flag football team, and they had the time of their lives, and our Bosque was with us and telling us stories and David the point was manager, and maybe had a total blast. And I've tried to tell these guys from day one since I started doing the basic camps. You put on that jersey. You become a cardinal on your cardinal for like, you're part of the family. And that's the players the hall of famers, the fans, I mean, we're it's a big family at some kind of atmosphere that I don't think a lot of organizations have that's for sure I would agree with you Jason as we visit with Jason isringhouser for you. When you got to Saint Louis who really showed you what it was like to be a cardinal met Morrison here. Jimmy Edmonds was here guys that have been here for a few years. And but the thing of it is it's like. Ex players are around a lot and fame resort around a lot. And you just watch these guys go about their business. It's very businesslike. But we always did things the right way, especially on the field. Prided ourselves on unmaking the guy next to us better which made everybody better we have a lot of selfish people. And I came from New York, I came from Oakland Oakland is kind of a spot where guys go to the play and then go on to bigger and better contracts and things like that. And York was just a I don't know what New York was it was a blast to play there. But you know, everybody's on their own program there, and when you get to Saint Louis, it's a family people wanna come to the ballpark. They don't wanna leave the ballpark back in the day. We used to sit around and have a couple of beverages and talk about baseball all through the night. And you know, that that has changed some because of the policies of baseball and say Louis, but you know, it was just talking baseball. And we learned a lot from. Guys know manager. I mean, you can't learn more from guy than than Tony LaRussa. I mean, one of the best baseball minds I've ever been around the game, especially for what I did at the time for reliever back in the day and the right people, and you learn how to do things right way with a kindle being there. And Joe Pechiney, Dave Duncan, mardi Mason, the list goes on and on why he was always around read was always around stand with around in any sit down, and you just listen to their stories about how things were done in Saint Louis, and you learn from the right people how to do things the right way. Jason, you know, Mike shot one of the things that players now say is that when he became manager last year, he instituted some of what you were just talking about. He calls it ball talk. And they do it before games. And instead of saying we did this wrong yesterday or the so we can better they just talk about the game. And as you just pointed out, I think that's something that maybe fans don't think about it or take for granted. But you're hearing young players talk. About how much they can soak up from guys, you know. I mean, I think that says everything about Shelton. You know, the way he is as a manager. But maybe more importantly as a communicator because it's really what you have to beat this level. Right. I do believe I mean, everybody's there for a reason and talent we're not short on talents in the major league. I don't think any team is we talked about team chemistry. And it's what we preach to these kids in the minor leagues. I work with all these kids that have been coming up over the last couple of years, and we're trying to instill them that clubhouse culture of you know, instead of we're all pulling in the same direction. You know, everybody's grabbing that role. All in the same direction in heaven accountability. And getting the guy next to you. You're for the guy next to you trying to help him to get better. It's just gonna make you better in the long run and getting away from that the clicks, you know, groups of people talking here talking there. It's got to be a close knit group, and she'll has been with these guys. Minor leagues. He's worked his way up from the bottom moas handpicked him out of a group of guys that as being groomed for this job is a great communicator get the most out of his players. You did great in AAA with the guys that are in the big leagues. Now. I think guys trust him guys in the right position. To succeed. Jason Isringhausen is our guest in Jason. What's your campaign slogan for two thousand nineteen? I I guess it would be third time's a charm. Maybe there you go. That's a good start. It's been used before we can accept it. Yeah. I mean good things come in threes. I don't know what to call it. But you know, just get out there and vote, and I mean, the six guys on the bow. They're all deserving. I know it was me. I mean, I'm biased for myself if I couldn't for myself but vote for Keith enrolling. I mean to great players, and everybody's deserving on that list Renteria. It's just the list goes on and on this committee that these guys together does a great job, and it's just fun to be a part of it and just see how the fans interact, and and talk, and it's just a great thing that the cardinals. Do we got the museum across the street from the ballpark? Now, I'll be there signing autographs, I think on opening day on the six different stuff. Like that. I mean, the kernels do a great job with the community. And what they've done ballpark village is amazing. And, you know, Mitchell, do it and company is doing things the right way for sure jas. We appreciate it, man. Thank you for the time again, good. A cardinals dot com slash H. O F. It's the cardinals hall of fame vote presented by Edward Jones. Open. On March the first we appreciate it, man. We'll see you down here in Jupiter soon. I I'm ready to get out of this cold, weather and get down the sunshine. That's for. Sure. All right. "You're playing fantasy baseball. Right. You're looking at numbers, you're looking at spreadsheets. You are to use most term your arbitraging one decision over another decision. Right. And that that's what they wake up and do every day. The reality is that all of that process is is is put into practice in place and coached and developed and trained and managing the clubhouse by people and people are not spreadsheets people are not algorithm. And so a lot of their time is building up the communication amongst the people managing people. Finding out the best spots for people trying to develop people. And then a fraction of see a fraction. But what most people would think their entire day is filled up is managing what you did. That is the most important part. But that is the culmination of their management of the people in baseball operations fans have a tendency to make the argument that the cardinals cling to a number of different prospects. They also I think there's an immediate make that make that same argument you necessarily can make the case anymore. Now, come on look look at the chips, Dan on the Paul Goldschmidt. Trae. And certainly you you have a major league ready pitcher someone who's had tremendous success here in this first year on slip some last year. But that's a major league pitcher the Carson Kelly. Look we've all talked about Carson Kelly for years here. And he's going in there with thought it'd be in their everyday catcher. And obviously Andy young was someone who came on the scene a thirty seventh rounder a senior sign a cardinal pick. Right. And we we were willing to trade those three players and then on top of that a little bit being the scouting director. We traded a draft pick all that not for ten years, Paul Goldschmidt. But for one year. And so it was a very bold move by bosses to say, look we are looking for any incremental edge need decision that we make. We are going to do something that you know, again, like you said publicly has gotten maybe overplayed, but certainly the actions were much different you think of the large number of people that play the sport from the time. They're a very young person. Those who ultimately get a chance to play it from a profession. Standpoint Europe mung the fraternity those of the group that did something special and that is to win a world title when you think back to- six, and you think about the clubhouse, and you think about the makeup what stands out about. That's why you know, there was a there was a great there. I really remember one eighty three games. Three stretches of seven-game losses. Three of them. Not just one three. And you think of last year's team won eighty eight games and missed the playoffs, and you, and you sense the frustration there. Well, imagine eighty three games in the frustration on that team the grid to once we got in. And there was a collective XL. Then I remember did the tremendous play by Belliard and game wanna gives the Padres where he makes diving play. He gets the runner Tyler Johnson's pitching. We win that game. And now leadership comes and Jimmy Edmonds starts right then almost takes the script out of the football game. And goes with the game ball and give that game ball out and says boys deserved. This web, and it made everyone kind of rally and realized that the past is the past three wins or not we're in. And now the brakes are falling our way, and that grit really allowed us to build up momentum through the championship one. Final thought you were also proud member of the fraternity of the men of Troy. Come on. You're Trojans did not exactly have the type of season that expectations call for in Los Angeles. But they decided to stay with Klay help right decision. Look, I got ask this actually on a podcast a few weeks ago high. I look having a job in a career in this industry. I am the last one to throw stones. Right and wrong decision. I don't know. I wish him. Well, what what I wish more than anything is that whoever's in that position. And he is now gets that team to spot where I don't have to hide my head on Saturday night..

"Andrew Miller been thinking a lot about Lee Smith and heading to the hall of fame and commission. Rick and in claves, just looking at Andrew Miller, some of the talk about his workload and some of the questions about his workload. Holy cow. You wanna talk about workload look at least Smith and a handful of times Rick that he was not only coming on to save games. But was pitching a hundred plus. Innings ninety plus innings that was you know with regularity. I think only him and Mariana Rivera really the workload over the number seasons is is about as close as you can find I think he had like one hundred sixty five or seventy saves of more than one inning out of the four hundred seventy eight. And one year he had like eight or nine of three innings. We're actually had to bat once in a while to which was an experience. Well, you can throw Bruce suitor into that mix to another guy that had a lot of innings for reliever. But the worst part about Lee Smith is he pitched about thirty percent of those innings in the dark field before they had lights, and you know, he comes in strolling in as slow as possible in the eighth and ninth inning. He on unbelievable. Yeah. He'd be he'd be fine for sure. But but he was nasty when it got got the twilight at Wrigley. You know, what I always tell people that same thing when they ask about Lee Smith, I said go ask a hitter who had to face Lee Smith with no lights and dusk is about to set in. And then, you know, he used to load it up a little bit with little Jerry curl activator. So he was impossible to hit. Now. Here's a question. I asked you. Maybe. Whatever it takes. Question for both. You guys what had what Lee Smith had thrown inside more. How many do you think he would have had? Where he said he's heard that from a lot of people. Notably Mike Schmidt. And at least, of course, said why don't you tell me that when I was. But she thinks he would've had over five hundred saves, but he's goes back to Isa's Fergie Jenkins is the one guy you taught me how to pitch and Frankie Jenkins never through inside. Either. You're always on the slider ball, and he's in the hall of fame. So good for him. Good enough for me. So let me take it to this next question. How did the riders blow it in not voting him in before? Now where he was getting close. He was up to about fifty point six percent needing seventy five percent of the vote. And then the steroids era guy started come on the ballot Sosa McGwire bonds Clements Powell Mero, whoever you know. And while none of those guys got in. They did take up a lot of votes. You know, Clements steroid era guys Bagwell's. Sure. Sure. The conversation was was even more about during that time who we're going to not vote for vote for Smith. Didn't get the natural rise. He he started descending. Like, you got worse or she was getting older, but still they got worse than fifth and fifty to forty s and it does happen. But what tells me the esteem in which he's held was there? Sixteen voters on this panel at the winter meetings in Las Vegas. He got all sixteen votes. And we're talking about club owners. We're talking about gentleman's hall of fame players all day managers like Tony. And Joe, Tori. And he got every vote and that doesn't happen. But they all saw him pitch to know. Like there was one member who wanted to bring up ERA, but those guys actually saw his impact on the game. And I think that was important. And I think that's where I think a lot of writers just look at the numbers, and maybe didn't talk to enough people who maybe didn't see him work because had he seen in work. They probably would have had a different opinion you mentioned that Wrigley field. The writers often had to leave the press box which is high up above Wrigley field and go down and sit in the box seats behind the cubs dugout to get onto the field. At the end of the game to go to the cardinals clubhouse, which was upstairs again in Iraq through the dugout. Bunch of steps up. And I got down there and Lees Smith is pitching. It's about four thirty four forty five and George Hendrickson. The on deck circle shaking his head. He knows his chance. Not looking at that. I'm saying he has got no chance. It was really dark talk about game over bingo on the field upstairs. I think it's been accurately described guys as because of the amount of players and guys who played in the steroid era. Even guys who were not as a -sarily ever implicated with steroids. Jeff Bagwell took him seven years on the ballot to get in Tim Raines famously decade on the ballot. So many championed his cause to get in. You had you know, Trevor Hoffman three go rounds Vladimir Guerrero a couple of go rounds because some guys don't wanna vote certain guys in first ballot. It's been described as a front walk that you've got so many qualified players through no fault of maybe a voter. We could sit here, and we could include Lee Smith or economically Smith, and you could come up with ten guys every year and more than ten guys every year who are more than qualified to get in. And it's a shame that because of that someone like Jimmy Edmonds falls off after the first year. I'm not saying he should be voted into the hall of fame. That's a different discussion. But fact that he falls off Rick after one year, I think is just a testament to how front logged this process. I think you're very right about that. And I also think there's a kind of inherent issue of it being subjective to so you're you're gonna talk and you mentioned that as well. But you're gonna have a writer they'll say, well, look he played in Colorado. So I'm not going to go with Larry Walker. But yet he might not say I'm going to vote for Lee Smith who had to pitch in Wrigley field with the wind blowing out most of. Of his career. So I mean, so it's very subjective. Based on what kind of feeling you have about the is one more important or is being being an absolute star for a few years. Sadie Colfax was the best pitcher on the planet for a very short period of time. And he got arm issues and was out very very young did not play a long time. But everybody who saw him knew that Saint Colfax is a hall of Famer. So the the nobody cared about what place he was pitching in at that time. So again that's years and years ago, but I think it's we'd become so savvy about it in. There's so much information out there on the internet that we're all kind of picking and choosing. What variables Rick? We liked the best Barbara come into a spot this year. Now, we're Ted Simmons is going to name. His name is gonna come up on the next veterans committee. Ballot and unlikely Smith or guy fifty percent of the vote. Ted Simmons got three point seven percent of the vote only year he was on the ballot. That means that. About four hundred and thirty five of the four hundred and fifty people voted on that election did not vote for Ted Simmons is one of their top ten now think about role that around in your point. And and now that he only one vote short in Orlando last year, and you know, he on that committee were Don Sutton and Robin yount who play with on the eighty two Milwaukee Brewers club which got to the World Series. So that that helped as as bays was held by LaRussa and riser of now helped the ten other guys voted for Bain stupid sides. Those two Baines is going to open the door for what you're talking about. Though ribs is how many guys had careers like Harold Baines. That are now in that log jam of people that I think in this case, you know, being part of lockout because he'd been at three thousand hit guy to strike both. So I think, you know, health whatever he was the three thousand hit guy. So he would have. And a great teammate, and I can speak from. And I was thrilled that he got in absolutely thrilled. You have the variable of didn't play defense all the time too. And so that is weighed differently for different voters as well. And and how how important is defense. I mean, we know by being at the Saint Louis cardinals at Ozzie Smith defended his way to the hall of fame. Now, we also had to hit to get there. But but by far the best player on the defensive side in the game for an entire decade any earned it. But I think what what's great about the game. Now, it's we're dealing dealing now with people who have a specialty skill where they're the best to what they do. With Baynes in Edgar Martinez being the best D H is we witnessed Bruce suitor. And we're gonna see Rivera and Lee Smith the best closers. I think we're going to specializes thing which is fine with me because you know, I don't expect a closer to be a good hitter. I don't expect certain guys do things that you know, they're not expected to do. But if they're really really good at that aspect, then you gotta go. I can't wait till we get down to level of where we're picking the guy who's best at picking a guy off a first base. Then I'm going to be back and be gone by the rookie. I hope I hope. It's cardinals countdown to opening day presented by Arun. Chris Rabi, Mike clayborn joined by Rick Tomlin record. And let's take a quick break. We'll be back. Plenty more to come. As the guys hanging out in studio this hour back in a moment of the Saint Louis cardinals radio and.

"I mean when John was talking about we're in a saber metric era a baseball. So the younger fan loves that the older fan typically wants to hear Tim Carver talk about the sixties some people want to hear what's going on in the seventies Ricky's talking about the eighties. Jimmy Edmonds is a baseball savant. So he can really get into what's going on with a guy swing and and what's happening with a guy tipping pitches or what he should throw or not throw. He's incredible at it. And the players today still are going to him and asking him for advice we walked down to the. Clubhouse. And I mean it happens every single time. What are you seeing my swing? Do. You see if I'm tipping my pitches. It happens all the time. He'll text a guy during the game. Hey, call me after the game. This is what I'm doing. Right. This. You know, I'm seeing this. So I'm trying to do all those things. And I have the story. I always tell by Jack buck, which I should've told earlier I got called in Mike Shannon at his night at the races. We were playing the dodgers. And so the week before I was doing the dodgers and the cardinals on television, and I had all these no cards, and I was very young at the time. And I mean, I could tell you every single thing that was going on with every player who their parents were grandparents where they were from high school, what color they like their favorite food had everything. So now fast forward the next weekend where Bush stadium I'm getting ready to do the radio because I got called in Shannon as the night at the races. They gotta get the game in and they know it's a rain delay. But they know they're going to get the game going, and I'm getting to the point because it's about Jack. And it taught me a great lesson. Which I don't always follow. But he says he says, Dan, what are those? I said, Mr. buck. These are my notes, I am ready to go. I'm excited. I can't wait to go aces. Really, let me look at those takes my notes into a thousand pieces slams into the trash can he said that's the game. That's not the bleep in game. Describe what you seek it and walked out of the booth and so. Any went and took a nap for like an enemy. So I was just left by myself. But the point was any later told me he said, you know, I did that. And I said, yes, he said, you're the eyes the ears your the feeling for the people at the ballpark. Always describe what you see and tell them what's going on. Now television is different. Obviously, you could see it. But it was a great point in trying to make sure that you describe what you see and be the eyes and ears and be the presence that is at the game. So I'm going in a roundabout way. But I try to deliver. Now the game with excitement and be a fan at the game. That's what I try to do. Yes, sir. Greetings, gentlemen, Dan, and Tim spectacular evening tonight stuff preciado having this. Yeah. Give it to a spectacular evening. Bringing it anyway. And this is today and not to dismiss a Tim's talent. But Dan, I've been a fan of yours since you were twelve years is this the real caller, Dan. This should be caller, Dan. I don't know if this is Dan or not I've heard of call again. And I want to be on his controversial. This is important. I just want to be on the record. Have you guys know call there? Dan is okay. Caller, Dan, is is a hot sports. Take caller. Is it takes myth? He he's got. He's got great takes. He's just a little nervous a little nervous, but great takes much like Mel from Marlborough very much. But that's all I know. I'm not that's all I gotta say that's clear records..

"He was a great. Defensive center fielder back at that Era The first two center fielders who the first two center fielders that come to your, mind, Chris, Thomas I know you're talking about your guy. Earlier, yeah Andrew. Jones and then of course you gotta go Jimmy. Edmonds, yeah Jim Evans covered a lot of. Ground Gary. Mattocks ask back to the nineteen. Eighty Phillies said two thirds of the world is surrounded by, ward and the rest is covered by Garry. Maddox that was the expression for one Garry Maddox by, hand you. Jones here's what I'll say about. Him I think it's. Close I think it's. Close he should clearly be over seven, point three. Percent but if the number seven point zero, percent you gotta get to seventy five. Percent and that's that's a, long long ways to go That that's that's a lot. You. Gotta make up a lot of ground. I don't. Think he's going to do it. But hey I trust Tom glavin a lot but then you get into conversation was Andrew Jones a very. Good player was the great player and a great player. Gets into. The hall of fame now from. A graph if he. Had seven more home. Runs everyone would have put him in, because that's. Five hundred home runs but he's at four, ninety three McGriff if you look at. Fred McGriff from nine thousand, nine hundred eighty eight Two Ninety six some really good. Numbers thirty four home runs and eighty eight thirty six at eighty nine thirty five and ninety thirty one and ninety one thirty five ninety two ninety three on two teams combined for thirty seven ninety four thirty four home runs ninety five twenty seven ninety six twenty eight then went on a run of after that ninety seven at twenty two ninety eight had nineteen ninety nine backup to the thirties and thirty. Two and the last time he got into the thirties again two thousand and one thirty one and two thousand and two we had. Thirty so this is a guy that to me is a hall of Famer Fred. McGriff he is by twenty something percent of the vote, guy long ways to go at four ninety. Three, now what I'll say is I think the process should, change and here's what I've advocated for over the years and baseball out of all these I think you need to diversify the vote. I really do and I am for putting the steroid guys than I am if you put up the numbers you put up the. Numbers I know you didn't do the authentic way I don't expect people to look. At you like how they look at some of the, guys that have one about the clean why. But, I'm a proponent of it in this steroid guys I, would like to diversify the vote though so keep the writers then I would also At the, hall of fame players And give them the guys that are in the hall of fame 'cause they. Know a whole lot, about baseball give them, a, vote, and people will say oh well then you're risking them being biased and voting for the team mates at a guy, like livens gonna vote for Griffin Andrew Jones You still have to get a certain percentage she start. To, get to that percentage Mark so if a few. Guys vote for their teammates it's not. Going to change it, that drastically and then I also put the team broadcasters and for years I've always said this a guy like VIN Scully who is. So well respected in, the game of baseball, now, no, longer does play by play for the dodgers he never voted for the whole fame so these team broadcasters they watch, every game They watch one hundred sixty. Two games if you vacation days and I see all the players play for years and years and years they should get a vote so that's what I would do. Writers, hall of fame players team broadcasters diversified the vote. And also expand the ballot I think. The most you could, vote for right now I wanna say it's twelve Either ten or twelve I think it's, actually it may be ten so I want to. Increase it by a few? Can you look that up Christie with the max, is that they could vote but I want to increase the feel and that's basically those are my suggestions to improve this process because there's sometimes you fill out this ballot and when, you're filling out the ballot you, go through and you go I'm leaving like two or three guys off the list and, you want to go there but. You can't vote for them So that's that's a formula I give you writers get a vote obviously keep the right, as you have right now hall, of fame players and the team broadcasters as well let's go to j taxes next up, CBS sports radio what's up Jack Is that. When it comes, to Fred McGriff I want to look at two in terms of Oh And they got good teams in the team was so. Good Was because No question And also gets, factored into, you know we'd like to put winners in. As well At one time would How would you, compare somebody Leonard brave started size pitches of the nineties What do you use today Nowadays Oh. Wow you, know I'll answer that on the other side of the, break. Jay that's a good question It's out on the other, side of the break obviously you look at. The Braves starting pitchers right now and you you right away. You think of what. They're able to do and it. Was pretty impressive and. They got a World, Series so did the ashes they got a. World Series dispatcher we'll compare that though when we come. Back we'll take it from there World Series. Year I ten for what you, could vote for right now so I would bump that up to twelve so. Expand, the, ballot, to twelve, give, the writers. Vote all employers vote and also the team broadcasters as well eight. Five five two one two four CBS, we will take a look at that little Houston and Braves comparison. That's a good question by the, call and we'll also. Get into Albert pool halls and. Some NBA beef when we come back for Amy Lawrence after. Our, cbssportsradio. But I, I'm talking all fast that's because John fastest here with, the.
