63. Shooting for 40 points!

"Everybody happy Monday. WHO had agree weekend? We get to watch games Be totally honest with you. I didn't really get a chance to watch too much this past weekend. I did catch you know a couple of games here and there. But. Nothing where I got to watch, you know an entire match from start to finish. Just didn't happen but there's a lot of football that went on over last week. I mean, we had Champions League we had you wrote bullying all the leagues in Europe. Mls there's just a whole lot going on. I mean, it was it was a great i. mean if you're a fan and I'm always happy and excited when the Champions League is back in the Europa League as well. So yeah. So I'm going to cover some of these scores and. Start. Off With Champions League match day one. You know some decent matches that went on a of surprises in there. Let's see. So last week, last Tuesday match day one, we had Chelsea and severe play with. Zero zero draw. Those are the last two champions of the Europa League too. So that was pretty decent match. And then we had renee in Krasnodar polluter one one draw. Zenit Saint Petersburg. Clip ruge to. Lattanzio. Surprisingly. Defeated Borussia Dortmund three, two one. Event has had no problem with Dynamo Kiev won that game two zero. Barcelona. Five Fearing carbs one. In another surprise match least to me men many united fans didn't see as a too big of a surprise, but we had PSG one. Man United to that game was played in Paris and I couldn't see menu winning that at least on paper you know they did it again, they wanted to Pearson. Took some points. Took points away from. PSG. It's only match day. One is a group stage, but that game is still still surprise. You know you don't. Plan on seeing PSG, driving points at home to a team like man united had their struggles. Of course they've only really been struggling at home in the PL not literally at home in the PL l.. I person I think PSG. It's a better team but. You Know I. Mean if you don't show up on Game Day then that's what happens. Then you had arbi light to Istanbul bushell here zero. Then, on Wednesday, we had a South Berg and Lokomotiv Moscow pleaded two two draw. Buyer Munich for Athletico Madrid zero I definitely expected more out of Madrid here. I I can't stand how goodbye news like it really bothers me how good Byron is. You know they've been like steamrolling teams I mean they had a couple hiccups here in the Bundesliga but buying is just been killing teams I mean. I think since the start of the season, they probably already scored well over twenty goals in all competitions which. is just nuts but you know to push aside a team like athletic Madrid is surprising. another shock we had a shocked her nets. Beat Real Madrid in Madrid three, two two never would've saw that happening. Inter Milan. Gladbach play to draw. Man City defeated Porto three to one. Olympiakos one, Marseille's zero. I X. Zero Liverpool One I didn't get a chance to watch that game but you know I x is one of those teams that constantly surprises people and to be able to hold Liverpool to one goal the loss but I think that's still still an accomplishment. And we had meeting land zero antelope, Atlanta Four. For the Champions League will be back tomorrow and Wednesday. And some of the notable matches that I have here we got Marseille hosting. Man City. Atalanta hosting I X.. You. Venice Barcelona. And the man united in RB Leipzig now that you've meant his Barcelona win, the draw happened everybody was really really excited about that match 'cause we're GonNa get to see you know after seeing for two seasons. See re Cristiano Renaldo in Lino Messy playing against each other and then. Christian Rinaldo tested positive for corona buyers so The last thing that I read. last night or this morning was that he's trying to. Get a negative test. If he gets a negative test probably before tomorrow, he should be able to play the Yes to have two consecutive. Don't quote me on that but if he has two consecutive negative tests, then he should be cleared to play We'll see I mean a lot can happen between now and tomorrow. but new, I'm hoping that hoping those two teams can play I think it would be. A great. Even though. look kinda shaky in. Syria. Champions League is a totally different story so We'll. We'll see what happens. not going to go over the standings match day one in the Champions League over that next week after two was completed. When things are Kinda SORTA taking shape and We'll see but those four matches that I just mentioned those are definitely wants to to look out for. Switching, over to the Europa League matchday one, I'm not going to all of these scores just some of the notable matches. Arsenal defeated Rapid Vienna. Rapid Wien depending on who you ask to one. Beyer Leverkusen absolutely destroyed niece sixty two. Roma. Beat young boys to one. In a surprise in. The Rope League meet least acid from the Netherlands defeated Napoli one zero. A C Milan. And Celtic Milan one that three to one. And often Heim. Two zero over Red Star Belgrade again. After the next matchday, I'll go over the standings like I said. As you know, the groups day starts to take you know a little bit of a better shape The notable matches that I got for match day two, which will be on. Thursday. This week we got moulder hosting Rapid Vienna. Benfica playing standard the age. Three Hour Socio Dodd who right now is on top of La Liga. Will be hosting Napoli. And what I'm calling the the Timothy Way. Darby we got Lille his current team hosting. Celtic. Now, I don't know if he's GonNa play much in that match. He only played like I think ten minutes this past week for Lille but we'll see you know it'll still be a good game regardless even though Leila's actually look really really good. They're they're surprising a lot of people this year but playing in your league playing in Europe, it's completely different. and then we got get. Hosting in high so Those are the notable matches from Ashley to in the Europa League, and you know there's plenty plenty of games going on this week for everybody to be able to to to catch up on. Champions League, Europa League lot of good Games so are moving onto France where in league match day eight. which is crazy Francis farther along in anybody else in Europe right now. On, Friday Rene one on gear to. On Saturday we had FC lowering. Zero Marseille. One PSG. Four digital zero ps used to work in their wake up In League on Dijon. They're looking like they are not going to be in league on next season Killian Bobby didn't even start this match he came on later but he still scored that they're looking pretty good. L. Let's see for Sunday. loans in. That match was postponed. I'm not sure when it's GONNA be rescheduled. Breast Zero Strasbourg three. Bordeaux defeated them. Two Zero. Mets to eighteen zero. zero them? For. Lille in niece played to way one one draw and then Leon. Defeated Monaco fo one. So the table as it stands right now after matched eight in league on we got PSG on top. LILLE THAN SECOND And third. Marsin Fourth Niece in fifth. In Leo in six. Bottom of the table. There Strasburg in eighteenth ram in nineteenth in dijon the bottom of table. With the only two points in last. Notable matches for me matchday nine, we got versus Leon. To me that just seemed like it would be the most competitive match to watch for a neutral somebody that really doesn't have a fan. Or a fan of a team in legal that game might be the one that provide. Guess like the greatest benefit to a neutral person just watching it. But. I'm also at Timothy Way Fan so. He. Hasn't really been playing much but he's still young. You know it's all good. Let's see moving onto Italy Syria. They're up to matchdays five on Friday. We saw solo in Torino, a three three draw. On Saturday Atlanta one, some story three. Inter Milan defeated Genoa two zero. Lot Co two Bologna one. On Sunday Calgary Four. Zero. Napoli defeated been. Two to one. Par spots the apply to a two two draw. Fiorentina three Houdini to. Surprise like I mentioned earlier that you vent is has not really been playing that. Will you've antecedent Hilas Rona plead to a one one draw. Now you could say there without Cristiano Renaldo plus keep in mind they have a new coach in under your pillow, but it's venter's they're playing at home against Hellas phenomena. Stuff does happen but that's not a game that I definitely saw event is not getting the full three points for. And today we got. You know at the time of this recording. AC Milan will be hosting Roma so I don't have the results for that because the match hasn't happened yet. But the Syria table right now, the way that stands AC Milan is actually on top even though they have only played four matches now believes in second followed by South Wollo. Inter Milan's fourth. Event and fifth in Atalanta is in sixth bottom of the table in eighteenth we got donating. Nineteen th Torino they've only played four matches and bottom of the table very bottom crew Tony. Twentieth place with only one point. To show for. Notable match. I. Put for Syria this coming week from today six. I put Napoli hosting us. We'll know because as of right now that's to win three in the table. had a chance to see. Susilo play at all this season. They're just not a team that's ever really been on my radar but I will probably watch a little bit of that match this week. All right. So also in Italy. Coming up. Next week. We got the cope. Italian. Read the third round. That'd be matches on Tuesday and. Wednesday. I am not going to go over the names because some of these teams I've never heard of. And Might Talian is not good at all so. Just keep that in mind though if you're looking especially for next week when there's no Champions League and there's no Europa, league? On Tuesday and Wednesday of next week there are Copa Talion matches going on. Can't really see any that are you know jumping out at me? You got some teams that are. You know plant planning series be in May below. You know there's a couple Syria teams in here. Sorry to Gino Kinda Giddy. Genoa. But. Yeah. You guys take your time and just just check that out and You know like I said, plenty of matches that that'll be going for next week when you're going through your Champions League in Europe withdrawals. All right Spain Lalita messy seven. less Friday we had. L.. A. To Valencia one. then. On Saturday, we had also SUNA one athletic club zero. L. Classical thought this game was GONNA be a lot better than turned out to be. Well, I guess it depends on which side you're sitting on I guess. barscelona one Real Madrid three. To me. It just seems like was not the same. Now the Cristiano Ronaldo's left I know that's a terrible thing to say especially for all the the Barcelona fans out there because that Barscelona team if you look at that team is actually really good. They had a lot of issues recently because the messy thing they lost Suarez and even going further back than that when increasement joined the team, it just seemed like a kind of through a lot of stuff off you know I, mean, you can even go probably further back the net when Neymar left the team you know I mean. Just I dunno with this Barcelona just isn't the Barcelona that we're we're used to seeing. Now you can say the exact same thing for Real Madrid the team is just completely different from. What we're used to seeing but I mean, they're holding their own in they're just they just one classical. So. they won the league last year. Sergio, Ramos was the hero this weekend. I Dunno say. Let's see Soviet zero eibar one. Athletic Madrid to Real Betis Zero. And yesterday we had I liz. Excuse me. By lead zero to. Kazan Hillary Al. played two. Zero zero draw. Hit Tuffy zero could not a one. And leading Real Sociedad. Four. One. So oh. Sorry today Monday we got Levante Hosting Celta Vigo. Game hasn't happened yet so but here's how the tables looking right now. On. Top. Got Real. Sociedad followed by Madrid Granada's in third bill reality in fourth. Athletico Madrid in fifth and cadets is in six. Bottom of the table. We got Celta Vigo and eighteenth. Levante. In one, thousand, nine, hundred and Korea lead in last now notice I did not say Barcelona they're sitting somewhere midtable right now. Hopefully, they have a little bit of a bounce back but you know obviously, we're only up to match the seven. Tables going to change a lot. Remember like this time last year match seven Granada was like sitting on top of the table. This year just so has to be Real Sociedad. So a lot can happen. I. Don't know WHO's I. Don't know who's going to win the league. Who knows what's going to happen between now and even Christmas? You know this thing completely be shaken up. I don't know we'll see. We'll see that's all you can say. All right moving on to England in the Premier League. On Friday. We had Aston Villa. Zero. I should say Bamford three because he scored all three goals for Leeds United but Leeann is looking pretty good. I mean you know scored three goals even though you know Bamford, had the hat trick on the road in the premier league is still pretty impressive. So leads been doing doing really well, you know. It's team I'm following. Up Only because I watched. That Amazon. DOCU series about. Them. And you know they're doing, they're doing pretty good. They're holding their own so. We had West Ham and Man City played with one draw. Fulham Won Crystal Palace to Man United and Chelsea played. Two zero zero draw. Liverpool to. Sheffield United One. Yesterday. We had Southampton to Everton Zero. wolves in Newcastle United played a one one draw. The My beloved Arsenal Zero Leicester City one Jimmy Bharti came on scored that goal. Yeah, it was it was pretty upsetting. I. Think he's scored like the eightieth minute or something like that. I thought it was going to finish zero zero I was Kinda hoping it would finish zero zero but you know it is what it is. I mean he's Jimmy already. So today we got Brighton and Hove Albion hosting West Brom and then Burnley hosting Tottenham. So right now the way the Premier League looks after a massive six at Everton still on top followed by Liverpool there's both sitting on thirteen points Ashton villa is in third but they've only played. Three matches that doesn't that doesn't seem right that that's definitely a Typo in my notes Aston. Villa's asked him bills in third. But they have a game in hand see that lesser cities in fourth lead united in fifth, and then Southampton is in six. Bottom of the table. We got Burnley Sheffield United and Fulham all sitting on one point but Burnley has a game in hand. Let's see. So notable matches I got Man United Hosting Arsenal and Leeds United, hosting lesser city. So hopefully, leads can embarrass Vardi for me. Maybe make up for this past week when Arsenal wasn't able to get the points against Leicester City. but we'll. See. Her moving on to Germany. the Bundesliga. Friday. This is a match that I did watch but not the entire thing. WE HAVE ESPN STU Garden Cologne Cologne. played a one one draw. Mean it's fine, it would have been better Stewart got the full three points, but he didn't really hurt them too much. I guess. that Saturday we had union Berlin and Freiburg. Clear one draw. Byron Munich put up five. And had a clean sheet against Amtrak's Frankfort they're just killing. Rb Leipzig to Berlin one. Bruce Routine gladbeck defeated minds three to. Bruce. Dorfman. Three Shoka zero shaggy has really fallen off. yesterday, we had Wolfsburg to build one and then. And Hoffman. Heim. Played to a one one draw today by Liberals by Liberty cousy excuse me is hosting Augsburg. Game. Hasn't happened yet. So don't have the results for it but So the table is looking right now after five matchdays. Rb Leipzig on top followed by Byron Munich. Bruce Dortmund third. Vs To guard is in fourth there in a champion expire get ahead of ourselves. We just trying to shoot for forty points I mentioned that last week, forty points that's the goal that will keep us up. So we won't get relegated Bruce Gladbach is in fifth Verte Bremen is in sixth bottom of the table we got Cologne. shocker. And might might has yet to get any points from any of their matches in Cologne they have two points one of them they got from the match with with US Stewart that that's pretty upsetting. Notable matches coming up. In matchday six gruesome and Glenn back hosting. Rb Leipzig. Hoffman Heim hosting. Union Berlin. and SHOKA hosting. Stewart. So hopefully. Should be able to get the points from that, but you know anything anything's possible. Maybe Schulkin needs to fire another coach. But who knows cigarettes? Well, I guess at eighty points is the goal. As. Long as we can get to eighty point or forty points, I'll be happy that will prevent us from getting relegated and guarantee that we're in the Bundesliga again next year now if we can finish in a Europa League Champions League spot because that Champions League and Europa League money is always good for getting new players. But that can't be the goal for this season. Maybe next season we're in the Bundesliga again, we'll shoot for playing in. Europe. Are there's a loud truck driving down my street. For Right now, we need to just solely in strictly focus on staying in the Bundesliga we just lost two points. Messing around with Cologne to Stewart scored in the first minute of that match and somehow was not able to you know to close it out but. Whatever forty points is the goal and you know that. That's what we're shooting for at least. That's what the fans shoot for with the team players are I'm sure they're shooting, win the league, but fans we are shooting for forty points. So let's get stood guard to forty points. All right Moving over to analysts. I'm just going to go over these. Really quick. playoffs are coming up soon mls So some of these races in both conferences are. Getting tighter. Let's see. So last Tuesday, we had Nashville three. Dallas zero. On Thursday Seattle sounders and the Portland Timbers play a one draw. On Friday Nashville in the New England revolution also played a one one draw. Than Saturday we had Inter Miami to Orlando City One. Atlanta United One. DC United. To NYC AFC three. Montreal impact one. Chicago fire in New York rebels played a two two draw. FC CINCINNATI ZERO MINNESOTA UNITED ONE PHILADELPHIA UNION FIVE TORONTO FC Zero Houston Dynamo in the Columbus crew play to a one one draw. Real Salt Lake in Dallas played two zero zero draw. Sporting KC four. Colorado rapids zero. And whitecaps see to. San. Jose earthquakes one. Then yesterday we had. L., traffic oh the La Darby. GotTa look this up but I'm pretty sure that the galaxy have not one more than one match. I think they played a total of ten. I. Think in a pretty sure that Elliot C has the advantage they've won four. Lost, one in the restaurant draws might be eight matches if they played but. I know that the galaxy are not. Doing well in L. Traffic. For one and they're not really doing too well in the League in general, they signed teach Rideau. Everybody thought he was GonNa do well, and he absolutely has not maybe he should've tried to stay in Europe maybe went to Mexico. Someplace else. But playing in La is is definitely not a it's not for him. So let's see we got the look at the top six in eastern conference. We got the Philadelphia Union Toronto FC Columbus. Orlando City NYC, AFC, and then the New England revolution. Top six in the western conference, we got sporting KC on top Seattle sounders Portland Timbers. L. AFC MINNESOTA united in doubtless. So. As the playoffs get closer and closer. We'll see if there's any major shifts in that but. I mean right now, the galaxy. One of the worst record sit on the bottom of the western conference they got eighteen points in eighteen matches. Its that's terrible. So I. Don't know. I mean their season is over basically they're not going to the playoffs but I don't know I just thought never not used to seeing the galaxy of the bottom of the table like that. And if it wasn't for Cincinnati. Elliott would be the worst team in the league. The Colorado rapids have played four fewer matches. THAN THE LA Galaxy. Yet The Colorado rabbits have nineteen points. Ella Galaxy only have eighteen. I mean, I should tell you need to know about the the galaxy at this point. So. Are I'm GonNa take a quick break. Go get something to drink and I'll be back. Welcome back everybody. All right. So for the next six episodes starting today I'm GonNa do a new segment I guess and I do a confederation breakdown of all six of the. Confederation's The you know the geographic federations that are that fall within FIFA. So today I'm GonNa. Start with the smallest and going to work my way up probably do UEFA last because it's the one that's you know totally one the most the most people were cups and it's where everybody you know generally tries to get to play. So I'm GonNa do them not not in order from Actually I guess it kind of is order from smallest to largest but not really because actually Africa and Asia are both larger than comparable but come before I do Europe but anyway. With the. The Oceanic Football Confederation. little bit history they founded in nineteen, sixty six and its headquartered in Auckland. New, Zealand. The smallest of the continental confederations is comprised mostly of island nations were soccer or football is not the most popular sport in those countries. in two, thousand, six Australia who was. Probably the best funded, most successful nation in the AFC they decided to leave and join the Asian football. Confederation. This was to make it easier for them to qualify four. Fever for competitions the World Cup. Because right now, the NFC they're just not in a position to have a whole lot of power within the footballing world. So when Australia left New Zealand became the most successful nation the OFC. it's the only confederation that does not have a guaranteed slot in the FIFA World Cup. So whenever you hear about those continental playoffs it's usually dealing with either an additional slot for confederation or the only potential slot for the NFC. Technically the of C- only has a half a slot because they have to fight against condemnable the fifth-placed team in the Campbell qualifying in order to qualify for the World Cup. no member of the NFC has ever advanced out of the group stage in the World Cup. And in the Confederations Cup Australia has finished second and third in nineteen, Ninety, seven and two thousand one respectively. But as I mentioned Australia's no longer part of. The Oh. So right. Now, the OFC, has eleven full members when I say full members talking about teams that are members of both the NFC and fee members. Those are American. Samoa. Cook Islands Fiji. New Caledonia New Zealand Papua, New Guinea. Samoa. Solomon Islands Tahiti. Tonga. And Vanilla to in the three nine FIFA members that they have. And I'm going to butcher this first one. Kiribati. You. In to blue. Those last three I'm pretty sure that I pronounce them. Wrong. So anyway, listening feel free to correct me. So. Let's see the the major competitions that they have. The national team level, his the OFC Nations Cup. So, in the OC Nations Cup, it's their equivalent of the CONCACAF, Gold Cup or the Copa America. there are two groups of four teams each. In. Each group every team plays opponent once. the top two teams from each group not only advanced to the knockout stage, but also qualify for the third round of World Cup qualifying. the semi final and final or both single leg matches and New Zealand right now is the current champions of the. NFC. There have been ten versions of this competition. New Zealand is also the most successful team in the competition winning it five times in Nineteen, seventy, three, nine, hundred, Ninety, eight, two, thousand to two, thousand, eight, and two, thousand sixteen. Former oh of C- member and current AFC member. Australia's the second most successful with four wins while Tahiti has won the trophy one time. The Twenty Twenty Oh, nations was canceled due the COVID nineteen. The next version will take place in twenty, twenty four. But before its cancellation of the Confederations Cup the winner would represent the OFC in competition. The last representative was New Zealand in two thousand? Sixteen So the current fee for rankings for have members. Full, members. New Zealand is at one hundred and twenty one. The Solomon Islands at one thirty, nine, New Caledonia one, fifty, six. To hedy at one, sixty one. Fiji in Vanuatu. At one, sixty three. Papua New Guinea at one sixty five American Samoa at one ninety two Samoa at one, eighty, four and Tonga at two o three. So club competition they have the NFC. Champions League it's also called the old league. it was organized in two, thousand, seven, hundred current format, and before that, it was called the Oceanic Club, championship? the group stages made up a four groups of four teams. Each team plays every team their group one time. The top two teams from each group progressed to the knockout stage. In the knockout stage, every match is single elimination. The winning club represents the OFC in the annual fee for club World Cup. Auckland City from New Zealand. has won the OC Champions League title nine times but right now, the current champions are high in game sport from New Caledonia now when you see the name If you get a chance, look it up who are the current champions of the NFC. Champions League. But when you look at the name, the team name I remember 'cause I've talked about them before probably you know maybe a year ago talking about the club World Cup and I remember I had to. Listen to a youtube video in order to be able to pronounce that team's name rate because it just it looks nothing like how it sounds at least not to me maybe to somebody from the OC region. It looked like something that they'd be able to pronounce pretty easy. For me it took me a while to be able to look at it and be able to pronounce it correctly, but it stuck with me because I, was able to pronounce it now with no issues. So. Yeah. That's the NFC. Next week I will either do conflict CAF or. CAF. The African Federation. We'll see figure that out you know do my research and it'll be a surprise for you guys I guess. So before I go the last thing that I want to talk about and I mentioned it last week and it's been all over the news. Was this project big picture in the. UK. Now we constantly here in Europe actually even after this story came out, I was hearing a lot of stuff about European Super League. Again, it seems like that's that's an everyday occurrence This current iteration something that's being pushed by fee for to weaken I guess the Champions League or I don't know the last thing that fee for once is a European. And then the last thing that UEFA want is a fever sponsored. Super League. So I don't know the constantly going back and forth but. This project big picture dealt only with football in. England and guess you know the broader UK because there are some teams. In. The NFL in the Premier League will not in the this year but in the past that were from Swansea and then there's teams that Kinda Cross over in the championship league one and League two. But this project big picture was gonNA. Give more control to the teams. The big six teams in the Premier League. And it was Kinda do it like in a little bit of a sneaky way so we all know right now the because of the global pandemic of nineteen that you know there's been limited amount of fans and for a long time, it was fans in any stadiums now for premier league teams huge teams in Europe and you know maybe South America where rails that's not really a big of a deal. Some of these clubs are worth. You know multimillions in some cases, billions of dollars. and. You only have advertising deals sponsorships and whatever. So they're going to be okay. But like teams in league. League to. League one. You know having the money from ticket sales is something that they were relying. So basically, it was Liverpool. Knighted primarily that were pushing this thing they were going to give money to some of the lower level teams in the EFL English football league, which is comprised of the championship league one and League to the Premier League is separate from the NFL. They were going to be pumping money into the lower leagues and they also wanted to. Change the amount of teams in the Premier League and drop it down by two teams. This was gonna just give them a whole bunch control, not only over like decisions made for the Premier League but also for the lower, leagues like the Championship and League one and League two now, most of the clubs. All throughout England have rejected this they don't want it to happen because nobody really wants a certain small group of teams. You know especially teams that are have like. Super rich owners we're talking about Liverpool Man United. Man City Chelsea Arsenal Tottenham those teams would have basically total control of football in England and they would have like their vote would be worth more than all the other teams in the Premier League and Be Controlling what was going on in the lower leagues as well because they would pump money into. Into, you know championship one league to no. I don't me personally. I don't agree with that. I don't like the way that is the only thing that I do agree with this. Is. I think that the champions James at the Premier League probably would be better served. Same thing with La as well if they drop down from twenty teams to eighteen teams. You same thing for Syria is well, I think that it actually helps with the teams that do get promoted to those leagues from the Lower Leagues it helps them. In helps teams to not become constant. Yoyo teams because you know for a while in certain leagues it just seems like teams get relegated. They come right back up they get relegated to come right back and if you have to less slots, it will make the teams at the top of the table from the lower the in the second tier that much better. Like I think you know the. I'm kind of biased because I do follow the Bundesliga you know tighter than any other league or closer than other league and I think that the way that the Germans have is actually better than the way that some other leagues happen. To All the other leagues, the of the Big Five, and that's the one thing with this project big picture that I do agree with especially now. but at the same time. What a lot of people don't know learn this from another podcast. Another book was that when a team gets relegated from the Premier League for like three seasons, they get what are called parachute payments. So. The first she has relegated they get like I. Don't want to say it's like fifty percent or something like that of what they were making from. The Premier League, the the season prior. Then if they come back up, then they're good. But if they stay down, then it goes down to twenty five percent, and then after that, it goes to like fifteen percent or something like that. So a team like Sunderland that. was in the Premier League and then they fell down and they got relegated again they were in league one from the championship. It kind of hurt them because they were expected to go back up and now they've been languishing and now they're in league one and they've been down there for a while those parachute payments are either up or they're about to be up. So That's something that that helps those teams. But in a situation like this, with this project, big picture, I guarantee that that money would probably come in different form or it'll be limited based on the. The the whims of the big six clubs who have those billion dollar owners. I Dunno I for me. I don't know the whole the whole money aspect of football while you know they put together super teams and everything Kinda cool to watch from whatever. But I think it does take away from the game a little bit and you definitely don't want certain small group of teams and owners in essence having that much control over the game that we love and follow you know that's just my two cents on it but Yeah. I don't know I think this is also something they're trying to do to prevent a European, Super League which I think a European Super League would be cool for like a year or two to watch as a fan to be able to see. But right now I'm stuck in the United States. So for me watching it on TV, it would be nice. But if I was a fan of a club and I was actually like in Europe. And it'd be nice to see. Barcelona play against Liverpool twice a season or whatever over multiple you know seasons or whatever. Or even like you know seen PSG play against Bayern Munich. It would be great outside of the Champions League. But at the same time. I don't WanNa have if I'm a fan I don't like Byron. But. Have to travel to Pairs to watching him much rather see the games in the country that I'm in. You know. And then I don't know. Plus, I'm a big fan of the Champions League as well. So. I don't know I think too many people are constantly trying to. Tinker. With a formula that in my opinion is already working in working well so. I guess fee for pushed a plan. Something in the news about it this past weekend where they're talking about like. A. European type superleague but it's like the European Premier League or something I need to do a little bit more research might have that you guys next week but I don't know it seems good on paper. It's nice to do when you're playing fee for whatever to mess around with the League's and move teams in different leagues. Having like I dunno Napoli play in the Bundesliga or something stupid like that. But. When it comes to the actual football I don't really really WanNa see that the Champions League for me is enough. GSMC Soccer Podcast Episode 106: Can Liverpool Stay Perfect?

"I want to know the latest and soccer than listen to the golden state media. Concept's soccer podcast. LS Is the World Cup. The Premier League we've got you covered the latest update hottest matches at news on the League's top players. It's the golden state media concept soccer. podcasts listen thank you for tuning into the GSM soccer podcast brought to you by the GMC podcast network on your host Lucas more. This is episode two for me episode of something the whole podcast and I love the Friday shows. Friday shows are always going to be a lot of fun because we have things to preview on the weekend we get to look forward to something in the Monday. Obviously recap the weekend and then we've got news. All across the soccer world to dive into injuries et Cetera et cetera. Actually there was so much news today. I wish we almost had a two hour show because we would have been able to fit it all in Alexander Nubile. He's got a fifteen eighteen. Game clause for Byron. Munich is ban while you're going to sign the extension to twenty twenty one. That's something we won't be able to get into on the show today. Unfortunately fortunately but that's just some of the most interesting news that I've heard is a buyer in Munich supporter because mental Nord. Only thirty. Three and goalkeepers can play a long long long time. We've seen that time and time again to see US obviously around thirty seven. Thirty eight G.. Jabu Fon still kicking it and kicked it all the way to forty. We'll see how long he goes right. So the goalkeeper is position. You can play at a very very old age especially in soccer terms right. Thirty three thirty four four might not be so old and other sports but in soccer for most positions. You're starting to get into ancient territory except for the goalkeeper position. So it's interesting. That Byron is elected to bring twenty-three-year-old and guaranteed him fifteen matches when they have arguably the greatest German goalkeeper of all time and men will lawyer currently on the roster. We're going to dive in Athletico Madrid F C Barcelona showdown in the Saudi Arabia. COMP I don't like the country it's in but it was such an exciting match that I do WanNa touch on that one and preview the final a bit between Real Madrid and Athletico Madrid. And what does that mean for Lalita. Moving forward but where I wanted to start on the show. Today is some injury news because we've got two big injury. News both from the Premier League one also involves the United States. Men's national title team which I will be covering a ton on this show right. The United States men's national team going through a really important qualifying stage. This is a crucial. The time in the United States men's national teams development and. They're the most interesting national team to talk about when it's not a World Cup year so we'll be all over that all all year long so let's go ahead and start there because the star the big man. The face of American soccer has suffered another injury Christian gin pulls out a significant amount of time with what was quoted as a nasty injury and this is just tougher Chelsea because the young player was really starting to come into form for them and also it's tough for the United States to see Pulisic with an injury again and this is something we've consistently seen from the the attacking player Pulisic just time and time again. He finds himself hurt. And that makes me want to ask the question. And I think it's a fair question is is Christian Pulisic injury and that's something. That is a huge red flag if you listen to the last show. I said that if everything went absolutely perfect for the United States it's they would have an opportunity to compete for and potentially win the World Cup in Twenty Twenty Six. You can laugh at that if you want. But I'm serious with the type of young talent. They have but the one thing that will do rail that is consistent injuries to these new star players specifically these star player. The number ten for the United States Christian Christian Pulisic so I could really care less how this affects Chelsea. They will finish in a Champions League spot. Most likely they won't win the Premier League this year unless Liverpool decides to forfeit the rest of the matches for the rest of the year so it doesn't really affect Chelsea moving forward. Perhaps at the Champions League but I didn't think they were going to win that tournament. Anyway and even with Pulisic they are going to struggle to beat Byron Munich at least in my opinion and according to five thirty eight's metrics in the round of sixteen. So it's not really a Chelsea story. It's a united United States men's national team story especially with sixty percent of the qualifying matches for the two thousand twenty two World Cup taking place this year so Christian bullets edge being fully healthy is crucial for the United States to try to get into. Because it's not about whether they're going to qualify for the World Cup. It's trying to make sure you're in the right pot for the World Cup draw. You have to be higher ratings in your federation so that you're in a better pot for the draw and if you're in a better pot for the draw you'll have easier group to playing playing instead of a more difficult group. If you're one of the last part you might end up with Lord knows maybe Germany and England in the same group and you have to be one of the best two teams coming out of there and don't think the Germans are going to miss a knockout stage again in the World Cup. That might be the last time in the history of soccer. They don't advance past the group stage in a World World Cup. They will come back with an absolute fire in their belly. And I expect that in the European Championships. This summer is well the other big injury I wanted to talk to before we talked to that remind you follow us on all the social media platforms at MC underscores soccer on twitter GMC soccer on facebook. The other bit of injury news and this is big injury news in the world of Soccer Harry Kane. We'll be out till April we knew we we suffered an injury. Didn't know how long he'd be out. If it would affect the Champions League run potentially retirement who will he will be out until April and to me this is just a really tough pill to swallow again for Spurs. We've seen Harry Kane. Miss Time. He feels like the central part of that team. They've survived the long stretches without Harry Kane. But there's no way you can say you're a better club you're a better team without Harry Kane Upfront. I mean he's just that excellent of a player he's been the driving force of Tottenham although they haven't been performing at the highest levels this year he is necessary for their success moving forward and it's just such a shame that we get get this injury now. We get this injury news now before the huge match tomorrow on Saturday. And if you listen to this on Saturday to day where where Tana plays Liverpool Jose Marino trying to play spoiler now without his favorite striker. That's a really difficult pill to swallow. And it's just tough to see eighty Harry Kane out all the way until April brutal pill to swallow for Tottenham Hotspur but potentially is. Is this going to help the spurs not long term but maybe short-term. There's a small potential. This could help Tottenham Hotspur pull that upset and the undefeated run for Liverpool. I saying they'll do it but I'm saying that there is a small chance. At the hurricane. Injury could help Tottenham against Liverpool. We will preview that entire match up and so much more coming up next you're listening to the GMC Soccer podcasts. Are you looking to get your college football. To dive into the game of the weekends any league you can make an argument Real Madrid's via affects that little bit more in terms of who will win La Liga. This one shouldn't affect who's going to win the Premier League because Liverpool is so far clear of the field. I mean you're KLOPP in his boys have been an accident. At the top of the Premier League fifty eight points for Liverpool currently thirteen clear of Leicester City fourteen clear of Manchester City. We've got an interesting adjusted table if you take out V. A. R. From the equation to look at a little bit later in the show. That'll be an interesting discussion point. Moving forward but Liverpool is so oh four clear so far clearly the best team in the premier league and they just have so many points until it's going to be near impossible to catch them and if Liverpool blows a thirteen to fourteen point lead in January if Liverpool are champions of the Premier League. It'll be the worst collapse collapse in sports of the year for sure and for Liverpool fans. It'll be the hardest pills to swallow because think about this. If they blow the lead in the Premier League they will have back to back seasons of this the third highest point total in Premier League. History they don't win the League Doc. Having won the league since one thousand nine hundred ninety seven points. Don't win the League. Lose it by one point to Manchester City then the next year you're undefeated over halfway through through the season and then you blow the lead that would be a disaster of all disasters. It's something that is only one percent chance to happen but a disaster of all disasters. So what makes this game so interesting because Liverpool as in loss and it's a huge story that we only have two teams in Premier League history that have been able to complete a perfect run on only one team in the modern modern era two thousand and three and four arsenal. We remember that run. And so it's intriguing. Can they compete compete for and complete a perfect season and that means every time. There's a team that's closer to the upper. Half of the table like Tottenham Hotspur currently sitting in sixth place. Just one point behind Manchester United but a whole twenty eight points behind Liverpool. It's it's crazy the gap there between just the six place as in the first place team in the premier league but every time there's a team in the upper half of the table every time there's a team with good name recognition with a famous manager and Jose Marino. Oh and it really talented roster which we know the spurs have every time that that matchup will happen for the rest of the season. It's going to be the game of the weekend because a team team pursuing an undefeated season in any sport even a soccer season. Even more so is going to be the most intriguing matchup of the weekend now. We mentioned that Harry Caine was going to be missing from the match up between Tottenham and liberal and there is a really really small argument that I've seen made and I agree with that. Maybe just maybe missing a star player like Harry Kane could help you win just one match against Liverpool and here the reasons why so with hurricane out there hosing Marino's a pretty confident guy and view of hurricane upfront. You can make an argument. You might have the most talented if not the second or third most talented player on the pitch. You can make an argument that you're midfield can compete with Liverpool. Pull in yes. They're playing really well as a team right now. But Jose Marino can make an argument to his self that they are not that far away in with hurricane out there I think they would play Liverpool report almost straight up but now you remove Harry taint from the equation. It's going to force Marino to sit down at his desk and say. How do we win this without hurricane? Well I think this is should have been their strategy with hurricane but removing Harry Kane is GonNa Force Marino to muddy this one park the bus. Sit back dig deep for chances. Understand your large underdog and just try to go out there and grab a win dirty the up the game not necessarily play dirty but you muddy it up you play more on your side of the pitch you wait for your counterattacking opportunities you you just try to not get blown off the pitch in the first half you stay in the game you hope for free kick in your advantage. You hope to execute on your set-pieces you just hope for goals to go. Oh you're way we see underdogs play like this all the time. It's not how I think Tana would have played with Harry Canaan lineup. Now Harry Canes removed. I think it actually improves improves. Tottenham's chances for a win tomorrow. I really do I think it improves. It's slightly but I still put it about only twenty one percent chance that they go Out there and get a win. I just don't see it happening. I think Liverpool is rolling on all cylinders. Not just rolling individually not just rolling the managership not just rolling off field new. You deal with Nike coming for Liverpool. But they're a team they really play together. And this is something that the more I've I've sat and I've looked at great teams from the past especially especially World Cup Championship. Teams individual talent is highly overrated sport. We treat soccer stars like NBA stars. We believe that they affect the game. The results of the game just as much as Lebron James affects it in basketball but in football right in American football this the same amount of players on the field offense and defense as in soccer so I think that instead of treating reading a lot of soccer superstars as NBA superstars to wear Harry Kane carries ton of Hotspur. The Way Lebron James carries carries the Lakers or James Harden carries the Houston Rockets or Michael Jordan carried the Bulls in the ninety so on and so forth instead of thinking of them like that we look look at what Liverpool is done which they are a complete unit that has this beautiful German machine like mentality and the array to play and I think the German national team and we mentioned your claw who who who managed the door but who manage couple of the players that ended up on that German national team that won the World Cup up in two thousand fourteen. Mario guns at the top of that list who scored the game winning goal. Let's look at the difference between the twenty fourteen German team and the twenty eighteen German. Not When you look at roster when you look at talent the two thousand eighteen squad was better everybody that was young and really good got older got more experienced. They felt like a more talented team. A couple more players with real high level international success the same manager manager returning but they got in their heads. They came a little cocky where the Germans were the defending world champions. We won in two thousand fourteen and they became more of a team of individuals instead of a team which goes against completely what the German national federation has been building up since nineteen eighteen fifty four when they were allowed back in the world stage international soccer which is that time and time again. The Germans might be outclassed by individuals on the opposite team Diego. Maradona Donna at the top of the list. Lionel Messi in twenty fourteen you can go through a whole bunch of players that were individually better and most teams had three or four players is that were individually better than the individuals on the German team but as a team as the German machine. The Germans were unbelievably unstoppable because they played as a unit they played their style. Everybody knew their role in starred within it and your club has taken this identity that that worked in two thousand fourteen for the German national team and worked for his dorm and teams at the beginning of the decade in. This is why he was so eager to sell his superstars. When he played for Borussia Dortmund he had no time for over the top star players? And if you wanted to leave for big money and go you play a buyer Munich. Be My guest is what you're upset. And he's taken that attitude and he's gone the talent at high level because Liverpool absolutely filled with talented players. He's taken that talent. And he's added this German level of do your job do it to perfection fulfil your role role. And that's what's made Liverpool. Absolutely unstoppable at the top of the Premier League for the last two years. It's why they won the Champions League because they took the the individual talent that we often see in the premier league time and time again we see the premier league squads have the highest paid and most talented players in world soccer. It's the most popular buehler soccer league in the world and one of the two or three most popular sports leagues in the world. He's taken that individual individual talent. That high priced players. And he's Broughton this team mentality to that we really haven't seen in the premier league in a very very long time team mentality that maybe you saw Leicester City when they made the run and won the premier league. Y- Jimmy Bharti starring. But what else and. I'm hoping that this will catch on across soccer. And I'm hoping that it catches on for Tottenham Hotspur this weekend so we can see a really competitive and challenging match for Liverpool because has it is fun to watch them when we after week. But it's not fun if they're just GONNA blow everybody off the pitch so I wanna see an exciting match from Tottenham Hotspur challenged awesome play. Team style play your role muddy. The game up score on counter-attacks inset pieces and baby just maybe you can sneak out of there with a win that would be awfully exciting to see and I'm just so excited for the match this weekend and I just love. The strategy of your clubs team is called the GIG impress because it's German. I really do think the Germans play the best style of soccer for winning. Not necessarily the prettiest not necessarily the most you know fancy or popular style of soccer but I really do think the German style of pressing using high filling space working as a team and sharp. Quick passes to attack defenses while they're lax is just the most beautiful way to play soccer and watching the German national team in two thousand fourteen. They played that way. Beautifully two thousand eighteen not so much the case. Because they weren't a team they were team of stars. Right guys who had won the World Cup felt like they'd already done. It didn't need to try. Didn't need to fulfil their role and that's why team failed. And that's why Liverpool currently is succeeding beyond all expectations all expectations currently in the Premier League. But it's they've been assisted by a modern piece of technology. VR Is a highly controversial in the premier league. A couple of weeks ago there was just an absolute absolute disaster over the weekend. It's consistently made the headlines this year in the Premier League and that means I want to touch on it a little bit more. We had a really interesting interesting article. Come out from ESPN. Del Johnson wrote it. We will dive into that article. It dives into the anti VR table. So what if breath. VR did not exist the premier league a couple years ago or the entire time. We've been watching soccer. How would the table look how? How much has affected the Premier Li table? The results will really surprise you. We come with that on the other side of the break. This Saturday not necessarily important the premier league if Tottenham grabbed a win from Liverpool it would really not tighten up the table whatsoever and Liverpool is going to have the bottom of the table to beat up on to get the requisite points to win the League but an interesting match to see can Liverpool beaten. And we're excited for it. I think no Harry Kane might actually help their give us a follow hello. Whole Bunch Bunch of other sports stuff on there if you're interested in the College Football National Championship? I'm sure I'll be talking about that quite a bit on Monday. That'll be awfully exciting in the realm. I'm of American football. Let's talk about this. Var Thing VR and the Premier League has been a real issue and you know to me the To before we even dive into this anti VR table. And how the League would look without it. There I wanna I state that any fan of of a team other than Liverpool. That's trying to use this as a valid argument for why you're getting absolutely schooled currently by Liverpool. I I just I don't really accept it because it is what it is. It's the rule that exists. And you need to play better with in that scope of of how the rules exist. I think using any rule as an excuse for why you're so far behind the team at the top of the table is a valid one so I wanna make that that clear any fan that uses this argument to try to discredit what Liverpool is done. It's a bad argument. Any reported that tries to use it to discredit what Liverpool has done. It's a bad bad bad argument and it's a bad argument to try to make excuses for Manchester City. They've had five points taken away from them by Vr Norwood city. The only league team higher six points taken away by VR still doesn't matter play better within those matches so that Vr didn't matter that's just the bottom line it how it is across sports it. It is what I'll always say. A referee a rule will never decide it because ninety percent of the game even when an official affects a lot of it ninety percent of matches ninety ninety percent of games in any sport is decided by the play on the field bottom line play on the field bottom line. I say all that to then dive into this this anti VR table. It looks really really interesting. And it's frankly one of the more interesting things I've seen so he. SPN help do this. Dr Thomas Current at the London School of Economics compiled the Anti V. A. R. Index which shows how although the Premier League would look if VR decisions were removed from Games of the call on the field stood every time but they're not just removing goals here to get the results because that's too simplistic. They've developed an algorithm that takes into account many factors such as the state of the game at the point form performance and relative strength and then a whole all set of results based on probability to spit out this table so it's not necessarily straight just remove the VR. And then see what happens. They ended a bit of nuance to it. I like nuances tables. I think it's an important thing to have when you run. Statistics so here is the anti VR. Table so I I want to remind you the the top. We'll do the top. Four in the Premier League right now. Liverpool at the top fifty eight points. Leicester City forty-five Manchester City forty four and Chelsea coming in at thirty six. And then it's a five point. Drop down a Manchester United at thirty one points. The Old Manchester United. We dove into that last week. How we shouldn't consider them in a League league team anymore? Here's what the table would look like anti-gay. Ar Liverpool would still be the top but only seven points clear of Manchester City. And then Leicester City would fall all the way back to forty two points and the B seven points behind Man City and then Chelsea would be at thirty six points at four and then actually Wolverhampton would come in at fit that thirty four Sheffield United at thirty. Two arsenal at thirty Tottenham all the way down at eighth with twenty nine Manchester Manchester United with two thousand nine and the bottom of the table. Looks somewhat similar But the top is so interesting. Manchester City gets much closer much farther away from the third place team. Leicester and Liverpool is only seven points. Clear which would mean if Tottenham somehow pulled an upset this weekend that really changes the table. This makes it from Impossible comeback to really really possible that Liverpool somehow blows it especially because they're liberal throughout the year and I think this was just absolutely fascinating to take a look at it again brings up the question of should var necessarily ever ever have been created or should it exist. I think the principle of trying to get every single call. Right is a principle that I'm not afraid of you know. I think it's a good thing to try to get every call right on the field but I think we have to remember that. This isn't law. We're not putting people in jail. We're not sending people overseas. We're not making decisions about whether people should fight or not fight or you know breathtaking decisions. We're not deciding who gets the the bed in the divorce right. We don't have to get everything right here. This is sports. This is entertainment and that's the bottom line. Sports and entertainment is entertainment necessarily always perfect now. Does it need to be always perfect and always right now in fact. It's it's almost more intriguing when it's a little bit wrong when there's human error involved so I think the attempt by a are to get the letter of the law correct is valiant. I think it's an encouraging thing to see that we're trying to get everything right but but I'm afraid that in sports in general and I don't have a solution to this on the other side of the next break but in sports in general we are focusing being too much we're letting the nerds Tako and this is really you know I'm inert. I love numbers. I consider myself in this class. The analytics group all those things. I definitely definitely consider myself one of those right. But since the moneyball era in baseball it's transferred to all-sports all across the world. In fact I'd make an argument. The billy bean might be the most influential general manager not just in Major League baseball but in all of sports because this this range to be an analytics the athletics being totally outspent in Major League Baseball has allowed leagues across the world to embrace numbers to embrace is an Olympics. And it's really changed everything but the nerds have taken over so much that we become too analytical. We become to math heavy. We want to get everything right. We're focusing on the letter of the law in all sports and it applies equally in the beautiful game. NBA We're trying to get it. Exactly right. Why is his armpit? In an offside position that's what the question people are asking. And that's great and I love the effort but I'm more about the spirit of the game and this really comes from me covering high school athletics here in the United States because there is no replay in high school athletics but people can fall in love with it people can have passion for it they can really have enjoyed the match. They just watch the game they just watch. Even if there was a major mistake Bein official in fact they let the mistake go so much more often because it isn't so highly scrutinized and they know no the call that's made is the call that's made in the officials know that as well so then they kind of almost make up the calls in some way to keep the spirit of the game. Maybe Abia was a bad charge. Call right maybe it was. He was a bit offside woman. Maybe I'll pay him back on the other side right. This is the spirit of the game. This is the unseen. A thing that exists in sports. That numbers will never be able to compute. And if we get to number have if we get to analytical we will take away the spirit rid of all this stuff right the spirit of the game I'm not in favor of removing VR. All together not at all but I do have a really interesting solution. Not just in soccer but it all sports for fixing this replay disaster especially she with the advent of high definition four K.. which by the way? New Fifty. Five inch four K.. TV little late. Christmas present to myself. That's coming in today. That'll be awfully exciting. Get to play fee for twenty on it. We'll discuss twenty a little bit later in the show as well but I've got a solution for fixing replay in all sports sports. I'll give you that solution on the other side of the break you're listening to the GMC soccer podcast. This is your ultimate staffer offer. Everything sports the Golden state media concepts or podcast. Should I say more from the NFL MLB the NBA suit MMA. It's all in here. Golden state media concepts sports broadcasts listen in breath replay. Oh man it's been an absolute disaster. I think in the premier early one and really across all sports. It's getting to a point where makes almost unbearable to watch especially in the National Football League Highly popular events being slowed down a slow game already being slowed down by looking at a three minute replay. We've seen this in the National Basketball Association where we are. It is a common play where the ball is knocked out of players hands and for three minutes. We are staring whether it brushed the absolute fingernail of Lebron James on the way out of bounds to take the ball away from the team trying for a last shot to win the game that is ruining being the spirit of the game right. The spirit of the game. Good defensive play you knocked it out of bounds. Yes it touch my finger last but you knocked it out of bounds every court in America. Erica would give the ball to the team that knocked it out but now it's scraped his finger high-definition replay showed it so we flip it the other way technically the calls right but it messes up the spirit of it and we see the same anything in Vr. Yes technically his armpit hair was in an offside position but was he. Really offside was he. Really offside I don't think so right. It's about the spirit of the law and we've seen proposed rule changes specifically for soccer. And I'm actually in favor of this. The more I play won the more I play fee for the more matches that I've been watching recently. I've been really trying to think of this proposal that fee for put out potentially changing. The offside rule will to daylight needs to be seen between you in the defender to award. offsite you have to be completely passed. The last defender Vendor every part of your body past the last defender in daylight shown between you probably make it easier on replay. VR Make it easier to officiate. Not just at the higher levels levels but all levels it would add a little more offense which we love offense. We love attacking the goal. And frankly you know. People are arguing that it's harder for defenders. I think it shows does better defense when you're forced instead of trying to offside trap every single play which is frankly boring to see a defender step up. You know you've you gotTa keep them on your hip a little bit. More and faster. Defenders Defenders who are more physical will be valued highly. I think it'd makes defense even more exciting. So it's a rule change. I'm in favor love. Even if that rule changes though I have a proposal for all sports if I were dictator the World I Didn Act it tomorrow and I want to keep replay. I want you to be able to use all the angles you can use. I want calls to be right on the field. I'm in favor of all that but this is what we need to do. We need to adjusted. Because I'm okay with replay but these decisions to be made quicker much quicker so I propose a thirty to forty five of your feeling frisky. Second time limit for replace as soon as the official sees the first image. He is on the clock. He has thirty to forty five seconds to make a decision in. It's not clear enough to figure out then then the call on the field stance and you know what as a fan if you want to go back and replay go. Look it touched. Oh it's so close. Have Fun doing that. And driving yourself crazy because if it's not clear enough after thirty seconds then the spirit of the game suggests jests that the call on the field should stand and I think this would solve a lot of issues and maybe it causes some controversial situations. Yes but I think it's also a lot of issues issues gives officials a timeframe that they know. They need to make the decision. They'll make it a little more efficiently. They will look at angles. That are more reliant. There'll be zooming unless looking and less head turning and Oh was was. That was that shoelace. In an offside but let's zoom in on it we've got all the time in the world so let's this figure this out no thirty to forty five. If it's not clear then you stick with the call on the field. I think this is a fair amicable Tamika solution to this whole replay mess it so there are people who are in favor of getting rid of replay altogether. I am not in that camp because because I think that there are some calls in all sports that are egregiously missed and I love that we can fix those and I think that is really improved sports. It's especially at a professional level the fact that we can't fix those egregious mistakes fixing those mistakes is important right so I'm not not in favor of stripping replay altogether and I'm also not in favor of these guys that everything needs to be able to be reviewed. There needs to be a sky. Judge you need to be able to stop the game at any time to review any potential missed call. I think that's ridiculous. I think you're trying to make something that is naturally imperfect was meant to be imperfect it the spirit of it is imperfect perfect. It just can't happen right. And Ron White says it best in his standup special. Sometimes you can't had fixed stupid right. There are certain things in life. You just can't fix you just can't fix some things if if your apartment is too narrow for a couch you can't fit that couch in there right there. There's no twisting and turning and right way you've got a measure that doorway you've gotta measure the hallway. You've got to know what you're getting into it. It's something that has to be perfect right. But replay is an imperfect thing officiating is imperfect imperfect thing and we can never get perfect. There is no tape measure. There is no perfection there is no getting every call right. That'll never happen. I don't care how far artificial intelligence advances. I don't care. If they're a robot referees it can never be perfect because for something to be perfect at a computerized utilized level. It must have predictable situations and I see every single sporting event I've ever watched in person on. TV has a play. I've never seen before. I don't think I've ever been to a sporting event where I didn't see at least one thing that I'd never overseen before one combination events that was like. Oh Wow I've never seen that. I really don't think I've ever been to a sporting event that didn't have at least something. Some little thing that was different than every other sporting event of that sport I've seen before it's an imperfect thing you can never predict everything that's going to happen ever and there's no way to get computerized systems especially in the sport of soccer so let's stop trying to make an imperfect thing perfect let's make an imperfect thing tolerable fun fast moving easy to understand easy to operate easier on everybody. Make everybody's job easier. Make the rules clear. Establish a thirty to forty five second time limit on this replay and I think that fixes all the the problems and I am one hundred percent in favor of this daylight rule. GS MC PODCAST DOT COM for more INFO. Welcome back into the G. S. M. C. Soccer podcast under host movies more we just talk replay replay. We talked the a are not exactly fun stuff but necessary stuff because this this stuff is all over the headlines in world soccer recovered injuries. Harry Kane Christian Pulisic little earlier in the show but Athletico Madrid versus F C Barcelona three to Athletico win scoreless. first-half really thrilling second. Half there was physical. Altercations is a lot of fun. It was great fun. Awesome batch awesome matched to watch and I hate seeing great matches like that in tournaments that I could really care less about and you know I think some soccer media members try to force themselves to care about these things when I really don't think think of a cup featuring Spanish league teams in Saudi Arabia is something that I have to pay attention to. I only watched it because it's F C Barcelona Athletico Madrid. I didn't watch it for the Cup right. There are certain things you watch because it's the tournament it is and whatever the teams are whatever. The teams are these cups are not that you know if it was so via uh versus another mid table Spanish side. I'm not sure I would have watched the match. I'm not sure I would have been drawn to it enough to try to watch it but the fact it was athletico. Oh F C Barcelona. It draws you to that match so I'm not sure these cups if I can force myself to get excited for them all the time but three to thrilling match he just messy. How Beautiful Goal Massey through traffic? Just so good I mean just so much fun onto watch high quality soccer but what does this mean for illegal moving forward because we look at the table right now. Barcelona Real Madrid both tied at that. Forty points Athletico five points behind now this wind from let it go. I don't think it matters much for them but I think it really shows us that this this league is Madrid's to lose. FC Barcelona has been a little more successful this decade in La Liga really a lot more successful than Real Madrid. They've won more league titles. Real Madrid is finished in Second Board Times enough but I think this year for some reason it feels like Zenati and sedans got this team Roland. I love Real Madrid. They're sitting in the final of the Saudi Arabian Cup. I'm excited to see them in the final final matters for illegal moving forward but watching Barcelona in that match against Athletico Madrid. It just it never really clicked for them the way you wanted it to. And and it always felt like Athletico was just a step in front specially with the three to finish. I preferred Athletico Madrid in that match. And that's not something you want to see with Barcelona at the top of the table and Understand Cup match all these things things hard factors but this match made me think at least five percent more at least ten percent more that at Barcelona's going to finish second in the league this year but every match is going to be crucial when it kicks back off next week right Real Madrid's Avia with Real Madrid and Barcelona tied at forty points in Sofia sitting at fourth place at thirty five huge match. Every match will be crucial in this league. Eh moving forward but I think Real Madrid's is gonNA pull through. I think they've got the better squad. I like their manager. More Real Madrid to me after watching F C Barcelona celona Athletico Madrid. Real Madrid to me is the favourite inland league. I think that was the biggest thing we learned from that match and we also learned because I I had a little bit of slight on Wednesday. A hyped up rinaldo great player unbelievable player Cristiano Renaldo. If you vent his finds a way to win the Champions League I think Cristiano Renaldo becomes the greatest soccer player of all time in my mind if he can take Venice to Champions League title that would solidify by him to me as the greatest soccer player of all time. And maybe some would not would say that it's impossible to be the greatest of all time without a World Cup title on your mantle will but I think that that's unfair because the fact is Cristiano Renaldo Place for Portugal and that is a disadvantage from the jump but messy just fired back. I buried messy a bit. I think Rinaldo had passed messy completely and I just loved watching him again. He's just the the ball looks like it sticks to his foot. It looks like it's mechanical. I it's scary in any of you. That have ever attempted to play soccer at any any sort of level. Understand how difficult it is to have touch like that to be able to absorb the ball at any angle any speed understand where all the opponents are around you absorb that touch. Make a move into space. Keep your eyes up field. No or the goalkeeper is moving at top speed. Finish all the name and he does it better than anybody right. I think Rinaldo moves in space better than we all messy but Rinaldo by no means moves better when there's no oh space Massey's handling just I think it's the greatest ball handles of all time. I think I is touch. His handling ability. Ability with both fee is just. It's unbelievable work. It's unbelievable and I wanted to shout out messy because it felt like I was one hundred percent carrying the teen. Cristiano Renaldo FLACK OUGHTA Wednesdays. PODCAST at the best. He comes out with that incredible match with an incredible goal and and I unit Barcelona's beat out this year. A messy is just messy as Massey. It's hard to really criticize him. No matter how poorly performs or sometimes it's team keyboard performs or even if he does pick World Cup title. I'm not sure his attitude is perfect for for being an all time. Great maybe but he's one of the four greatest players that ever lived and he proved it again time and time again with just incredible goals. Incredible touch I've never really seen soccer. Played like that at that level in that type of space it's just truly incredible watch from the old messy on the other side of the break. We've got a funds segment to dive into. I think that the match if it showed me anything in which it might have showed me five percent of something. It showed me that I think Real Madrid win the League of this year that remains to be seen forty points tied at the top for both teams we. We will see moving forward in the premier league but to me just that that loss from F C Barcelona makes me feel a little more comfortable for Real Madrid moving forgiving forgiven following all the social media as facebook. GMC soccer paged like it. Follow common on stuff be critical. I don't care just just engage. We love when you engage twitter's well laggy. Sm See underscore. Soccer gives a follow and my personal twitter at more Lucas for more than just soccer news for sports all around the sports world the place to fall. Now what I want to dive into and I've always wanted to do this on a podcast and I've never been able to. It's never really made sense. But in this little segment we'd get ten fifteen minutes at the end of every show. We have fun we can do some rankings. And this is a consistent saying that I want to put here at the end of the show fee for twenty. I think it's is a great game. I know the reviews were necessarily so high on it but I really enjoy playing the game. It looks beautiful. I love the career mode. I love all those things in it and and my best friend of the World Max dual and we always play video games together right. And maybe we'll have MAC on a future podcast but we we do this career mode in all these. We have man franchises in year. Twenty thirty seven. Twenty thirty eight with super bowls for both of us in bad seasons in great great seasons and Trades and coaching changes. In the thing we like to emphasize is when we do. These career modes is realism. So obviously obviously I studied broadcast journalism at a university and maxed it as well and so the thing that we love most about sports is the stories without stories. There are no sports and I WANNA take you back to win. Sports really became popular specifically in the United States and that was win college. Football became popular because of the writings of grantland rice so graylan rice was a little bit of an embellishment right He. I'd like to emphasize things over. Exaggerate things create storylines create. Good guys bad guys all those things but when he started doing that his columns became unbelievably popular and because because his collins were popular the sports became more popular he wants described the Notre Dame backfield as the four horsemen of the apocalypse right. They were all less than one hundred. Seventy pounds not exactly the four horsemen of the apocalypse. But that's how he described them right. The storylines the the stories are what Kerry sports and. What's so beautiful about? Our Modern Video Games is that these games have gotten so good so real that. If you you just adjust the settings a little bit here a little bit there take out the video game ask aspects of some of them not only. Can you have really realistic games where you're playing in. The Games Games are really realistic. But you can have really realistic seasons and really realistic simulations. You just have to put limits on yourself so Max and we've we've decided we're GONNA do manager career in fee for twenty. We started today and the new career. We're going to start with. So here's here's the story line the manager's name is jt rose jt. Rose grew up in the United Kingdom at an air force. Space near North Hampton. Okay is father was an American Air Force pilot so he's blue blood American but also has British citizenship. Because that's where he was born so we've got a nice little so basically we're trying to set up his eventual move into the premier league as a natural storyline. Because we know that the British would probably never hire a full blooded American to coach one of their one of their teams. It's something that I don't ever ever see happening. And that's just because they're still ticked off about the revolution. And I get that I understand right. That's a that's a tough loss to swallow. It's going to take at least four hundred years is for you to get over it or the fall of the American Empire which might be before that four hundred year point but when it comes I maybe finally get over it and hiring American in the initially anyway. That's why we do that. The British aspect of it right so we have this british-american jt rose. His storyline was at eighteen right. He played in the youth. Academies in Britain and around Northampton whatever great gets a scholarship to go play in the United States dates in Cincinnati where his family is from the Ohio area originally Scott family in Cincinnati some old friends maybe in Cincinnati from when he visited the United States so he goes to the university. Cincinnati takes them that I ever. NCWA tournament appearance. Again this is all fake story lines but were setting it up right this will be signing Xining as we move forward so anyway he's at University of Cincinnati. Does well get goes back to Northampton plays Northampton because because remember there's a League two club in North Hampton so this fake player. Jt Rose plays for them place for them for about seven years does great earns a captaincy. They never really advanced but he's popular among the fans gets to be an assistant coach there until the age of thirty thirty-five than at thirty five. He's offered the head coaching job at the University of Cincinnati flies. Back over the pond goes to the United States to now he's at U. OF C. takes them to three consecutive -secutive NC double A. Tournament's including winning two matches in the third NCAA tournament appearance and that gets them hired for the inaugural season of FC Cincinnati. which already is going way better than the inaugural season of the Real FC Cincinnati which might have been the worst team in American sports this year which is just awful sages horrible? They what twenty four points. This season. Unbelievable low amount of points twenty four points so we took over FC Cincinnati and that's where we star in the game we are managing FC Cincinnati with Jt. Rose at thirty eight years old and this is where the career starts starts at the beginning of two two thousand nine thousand nine hundred. I'm not going to go through each individual player that we bought a basically are go right now because FC Cincinnati expectations for management demint is super low understandably because they were horrible right. The only thing we need to make sure is we have a little bit of money after. But we've signed some really good youth players we've got a future star in their. We've we've spent a lot of money on the youth academies which. I'm excited about a lot of money on the Youth Academies we've got got some great young talent coming up she'll be ready in a couple years and we just made a couple of really big signings as the transfer window open midway through the season. We're running a four three three attack. I want to simulate essentially pressing football. We WanNA press high on heavy touches. We take advantage that we WANNA be fast. We want to be really fast with the with the winger's strikers. We want to be fast up top. We WanNA do. We want a defense. That forces people to try to attempt crosses this is we're going to force people to the corners have really good aerial defenders. That is going to be. Jt Roses Style and we will always fit our roster to build that so we picked the best players that FC see. Cincinnati currently had we added one free agent. We added one transfer to fit more. The Style and Ferrara one of the transfer is I don't have his actual actual name. I think it's Kevin Ferrara Ferrara as the center. Mid was just excellent. Really Beautiful. Excellent player broke his Tibia and practice. Does it matter though because FC Cincinnati continues to make its way into the playoffs. A beautiful run excellent to watch. It's exciting stuff. It's exciting stuff so where we're sitting now with the fever franchise. FC Cincinnati currently is mid of the table eastern turned conference as it made the playoffs. So they're in third or fourth place just got bounced from the. US Open Cup a bad four one loss to Houston Dynamo. Don't really know what happened there right but it happens things happen and FC Cincinnati competitive in the MLS which is something. I hope to be saying when we start previewing the MLS come March arch but Cincinnati competitive at the top. Just got bounce from the US Open. Hopefully a home playoff match. I think that's our goal for this season. Make the playoffs get a home playoff match. That'd be excellent and then. MLS champions a year from now. Then we'll see if we can move in the lower levels of the premier league and keep building the career from there that's the fever twenty update. That's why I love playing video games. I love that. They help build some storylines in sports. And you can make your own storylines. Hopefully you guys are interested in that and I'll keep updating. It was shorter and shorter segments week in and week out. But that'll do it for us today. I really hope you enjoyed the show. We dove into the Premier League. We dove into a they.
