"I never liked about the 2010, 2011 season, is that when it was over, kimba walker was clearly the star of that season. Star in the biggies tournament, we still remember the crossover against Pitt, he goes on and leads the huskies to the national championship. When you look back at that season, Kemba Walker is the star of it. But he wasn't the national player of the year. Jimmer fredette was. And so again, I don't know if that is what made us adjust the way we do this. But at some point, we decided, we're not going to name a national player of the year at the end of the regular season, or at the end of the conference tournaments. We're going to wait until the final four, because then all but four teams are done. And you don't miss out on the Kimball walker stuff. And with that in mind, I just sort of like, it's not like I tweeted, I'm not voting for Zack Edie for CBS sports national player of the year. As we sit here right now, I think I probably still will end up voting for Zach Edie the same way last season. I still ended up voting for Oscar she boy, even though he lost in the first round to Saint Peter's. But I just sort of acknowledged at least in my mind that for our purposes, this does open up the national player of the year race because whether it's Jalen Wilson at Kansas or a drew Timmy at Gonzaga or Davis. Race checks and Davis at Indiana and we'll get to the night he had Brandon Miller at our master. Marcus says at Houston, Jaime hackers at UCLA, if one of these guys goes on this crazy statistical run and carries a team to the final four, I can imagine myself at that point voting for somebody other than the guy whose team got rocked in the first round by a 16 C where are you at on that? I'm with you. So you go back and look at TJ D just, for example, Indiana beat Purdue twice in the regular season. Now tonight, Tracy Jackson Davis does something pretty historic that I guess we'll get to, but in terms of his stat line, he's off to a great start in terms of putting a team on his back and taking them somewhere pretty far. This month, I think we emphasize as college basketball media called basketball fans, just the college basketball culture is so geared towards NCAA tournament performance that, yes, absolutely these next couple of weeks are going to fully dictate how that conversation goes. I think in all likelihood, I'm going to end up voting for somebody other than Zach Eddie. However, I will leave the door open for, let's say, San Diego state makes the final four out of the south, Tennessee makes it out of the east. I'm looking at my bracket down here. Northwestern makes it out of the west and Pittsburgh makes it out of Midwest. Those aren't teams with these crazy star players. Guys who were even considering for all American status right now. So it's conceivable that these 5 or 6 stars whose names we just mentioned don't get far enough to really warrant that consideration, but if somebody from that category, Miller, Timmy, sasser, hakas, et cetera, a couple more that we named. One of those guys carries their team to a national title, they're the national player of the year. That's right. I mean, it can't just be a guy who was a first team all conference, but not an all American who then carries his team to the final four. That guy's not under consideration. But it's other consensus all Americans mostly first team all Americans. Again, if I were betting, I would bet right now that I end up voting for Zach Edie for national player of the year. All I was pointing out on Twitter is that I think that race that race that felt closed now feels open to me based on the way that we do it. And it was, I wasn't surprised by the pushback, but some of it just rooted in nonsensical stuff. Like we all agree all season long. Everybody agrees that your team success matters when it comes to national player of the year candidacy. In other words, if not, why is it Antoine Davis the national player of the year every year? He's scored more points than everybody else. Make that guy. And I know, why is he not even a candidate for all American dean? To this team stinks and we don't pay attention to it. When your team loses in the round of 64 to a 16 seat, that factors in to the conversation, if we have decided as an organization to include that as part of your body of work. And so I think on Friday night matters. Yeah, I think what it is is you just invite a lot of scrutiny upon yourself because of the way you pronounce groin. I can't say that word. It's such a weird word. What is Brandon Miller's injury? It's an adductor injury. It's an adductor injury, which doubles as a soft tissue injury. All right, so Adam Zucker is tossing it to you in CBS Sports Network on the desk. Have a team you up to talk about the biggest storyline around Alabama going into the second round. A key player is dealing with what Gary? And a doctor injury. Brandon Miller has been diagnosed with an

"I want to power rank fodder. Easy fodder topics. That just work. Chum in the water, because while I was saying today, he somehow you end up doing Lakers stuff today. Yeah. And I remember when I did countdown. Yeah, I remember when I did countdown the first year, 1213. The Lakers weren't even good. Nobody thought they were contender. And it would seem like every other show that producers was like, all right, so Lakers lead black and I'm like, they're 35 and 33. We could talk about, but it's just the Lakers play. So I'm going to give you Lakers, something to be cowboys. You know all the principles. LeBron legacy, Rogers, the evil patriots, like what else? What do you know like segment four does not a lot going on that day that you could just throw on there and it's just going to work. Okay, so I'm going to give you an outside the box answer and I'm going to incorporate Jacoby and then food news. So Juliet on food news did a bit on, I think it was blueberry bagels. Was it Jacoby that she said blueberry bagels weren't a bagel? And she did like a I agree with her. That's a great take. And she was so fired up about it. And so passionate, it was just like a must listen. Whether or not you feel strongly about blueberry bagels or not. So this is a long way of saying, I think when there's nothing to talk about, you figure out what you feel the strongest about and that comes through to the audience. Like I would rather do, I just feel strongly about Mac Jones. So I can always kind of go to that well that I feel like he is being unfairly treated. So that is kind of incompetent. In shape. Give me back Jones. Oh my God. Yeah, guess what? What is life? And he was stayed 20 minutes after practice. First one there last one to leave. And then Joe judge, oh my gosh, as soon as soon as the rooster crows, it's a race to the parking lot to see. We can get there early. I thought I was the leader of Mac Jones island, but I'm just not wild as the leader. He's holding a torch. I bought. I bought for my youngest son, Billy, loves stuffed animals. He's got like 70 stuffed animals. I try to throw, I try to call the herd. I think is a nice way to say it where I'm like, man, we got too many. The room can't support all of these stuffed animals. One guy to go. So I'll take one. Yeah. I will hide it and put it in my room to see if he notices. He will come up to his room and see that there's 68 stuffed animals. And I'll be like, where's pinky or whatever it is? So I got to reintroduce. So this is me saying, I bought a baby goat stuffed animal and had to hide it from because I knew it would commandeer it. I'm like, no, not this one. It was like goonies. This one's mine. I brought this little baby goat to the show, and I stroke a small beard when I'm talking about Mac Jones. And the Mac Jones trajectory. I can get going on Mac. Now, you know, you play the music, I'm gonna dance. I get fired up about Matt Jones. Oh, he's gonna be great. But Mac Jones is gonna regress. Okay. Yeah, sure. Mac Jones was in the Pro Bowl. He'll regress, but Zach Wilson will be but everyone will be better, except Mac Jones. Okay, sure, everybody. Sorry, see, I'm sorry. Jacobs. Wilds we've been go like if you switch Joe burrow and Mac Jones is the Super Bowl season any different. Oh, I like that. I like that. The Trevor Lawrence, I remember being on camera and being like Trevor Lawrence is the best prospect I've ever seen in my entire generation. Can't miss guarantees success and then you watch in the NFL. You're like, ah, not that great. Another terrible take of mine is a Steph Curry coming out of college. I was like, too small. That stuff's not going to work. This is not going to work in the NBA. I remember before the draft. That was my angle on Steph Curry. I was like, no chance this works in the big boy NBA. And then he becomes like this, you know, generational Hall of Famer changes the game. You just take that, you take that take and you throw it toward jimmer fredette and it's right. Yes. He was just like, you were a year earlier on shimmer. But we were talking, we're talking Lakers and nets. After the all star break, and there's a part of me in the back of my mind. I'm like, the nets just lost 11 straight basketball games. The Lakers are like on the verge of not being in the playoffs. Why is this so interesting? Just because of the star power. Wait, so let's go back to the original topic. So I think Lakers cowboys are a turn on no matter what the record is and what's going on. They're just, I feel like they've surpassed everything else. And I think the Yankees used to be up there, million years ago, but the national baseball conversations have just kind of gone gone out the window until we get to like September, October. But I think for me, for me, it's Lakers and cowboys, and then a drop off to whoever else we want to do. Can I do a sidebar? Yeah, Bill. Sometimes things happen. Me and Kevin have talked about this in sports media where there's like something happens. You're like, I can't wait to hear what that person's take on this sports story is. I need to know Bill Simmons. What you think of the jock Peterson injured reserve slap from Tommy Pham. I need to know your because it's the perfect congruence of inside fantasy football and interpersonal relations, workplace relations, and violence. So I mean, those are the things I really want to hear your take on. So please grant the audience your thoughts on this incident. So thanks for asking..

"He had 16 points and 15 rebounds. And then the defense too, which we haven't even talked about, I think another weapon because he's really good off the ball. He has really good instincts. He can play fast and transition. He can pull it out in place while he doesn't care if he's the one who's like the focal hub offensively. He has to be that right now. But on the circuit and then other places, he didn't necessarily have that role. He just risen to the occasion. So similar with ivy, these guys are really just like good pieces of wherever they land. I'm not worried about a situational fit for him because of how he's able to adapt and if you need me to be the guy that drives and kicks, I'll do that. You need me to God that scores off the dribble? Sure. You want to play really fast and have me run the wing wide and hid inside and kick back out. I can do that too. It's all these tools, do it all type things, where it's just going to work, wherever you draft. And I think that's why I have a harder time than most. Slotting him versus Jade and I have you I'd say ivy has a higher ceiling for sure, but he gives this floor it's really high too. So I agree with you that his floor is really high. I think that like one thing up generally struggled with with Johnny Davis is finding an analog for him, right? Like, what player in the last decade that has been drafted in the top ten? It's been similar to Johnny Davis, and some regard. And I can't really find the guy. That's not to say that it's a bad thing. Necessarily. It's just hard to find the player that totally fits, because in 2012, Terrence Ross was different than he is, right? Brandon knight from Kentucky was more of a point guard, right? If we're going like elite level college producers, jimmer fredette was just not like he's just not that bad, right? CJ McCollum, like maybe that's the analog is something like that, but even CJ is smaller. So I can't find I can't find the guy that he's like, I guess. It's literally not the one for 40 four ish in 35. I have a name. He's not as freaky athletically. We saw way more than the NBA. Is there shades or parts of a college version of Donovan Mitchell? Yeah, no, I think that that I think the two look. Like NBA dunk contest, freak show, two foot, explosive athlete, Johnny Davis never has that. But like the pull up stuff, the plate within himself at Louisville did more than people kind of thought. Once he got to the NBA, not the same. Like you said, analog, archetype, et cetera, but sort of of that mold maybe? Yeah, the two as a college producer. Don't go crazy. I'm saying like from college comparatively speaking. The two names that I could think of that fits outside of CJ McCollum, who I think is like a reasonable response, given the more restoring college though, I'd say probably right. I don't have the numbers, but given that the I or whatever. Yeah, given the multi layered nature of his scoring game. Right. The two names I was able to come up with were Bradley Beal was one of them. Just in terms of being able to shoot at a high level, but wasn't just the three point shooter in college..

"Land wherever you can if you can find a spot. There is a guy his name is make sure you get a right here. Andre feta soft. Oh, no, he's not the oldest one. Sorry. Abdul Shan said dean, Providence college shout out. Let's go back to the New England days. He was drafted in 19 90 by the Seattle SuperSonics and the Oklahoma City Thunder still hold and retained his draft rights. Now those ones are starting to get stupid and useless because the NBA put in a rule about four ish years ago that you can no longer trade the draft rights to a player who's not reasonably going to come over and considering he is ten years older than I am. And I am 43, he is not coming to the NBA. So he's 53 years old. Highly unlikely I would say that Abdul sham said dean has ever going to make an appearance in an MBA game, but I guess Stranger Things have happened. Yeah, these teams continue to hold on to these draft rights. There's a guy Augusto benelli on the Atlanta Hawks. He was drafted in 1986. I think he is now the officially the oldest retained draft right player in the league. So you know what Tom Brady the other day said that he could see playing until 50. So if Tom Brady can do it, then I think any of these guys, although Tom Brady also has any of these guys can cook. Yeah, can come and do a Tom Brady. He's doing right now. Yeah, more power to all it takes is just eating lots of plants. And you can do that. No bread ever. Which makes it even more tomatoes or stronger. That's right. That's right. Man, Tom Brady, I love Tom Brady, but TB 12 will never be a part of my life. All right, let's talk a few other guys, some odds and ends here. Guys that a lot of people have been talking about in terms of last spot on a roster somewhere. Some of these guys are getting picked up overseas. So jimmer fredette air jimmer and Noah von Lee to the Shanghai sharks Keith what I heard when I say no of online. I can't help but think back to that year's draft class when Julius Randle versus Noah von ley was the big, you know, which one is gonna get picked first and finally skill set and all that. But but those guys both signed overseas so they will not be in the NBA in the near future. OJ yeah, maybe at the end end of that CBA season. That's probably more than jimmer for debt. I think jimmer fredette's MBA career died. I don't think we're going to see a resume at any point, but yeah, maybe von Lee is a guy who could resume, but we've seen guys go over there, put together a huge numbers in China and maybe he comes back. But, you know, if you're Jimmy for that too, I wouldn't push to get back to the NBA he's making good money in China, putting up big numbers and he is a massive fan favorite over there. They absolutely love him. So just keep going all over that that way..

"Even going sons and five, which I feel bad about because I've, I have a plus 900 Milwaukee title bet that I've talked about quite a bit, I'm going to have to, to have to consider, you know, hedging that bet a little bit here coming up. I don't know if I'm even going to get a great number on hedging it unfortunately, but man, the match up, the more, I think about it, the more haven't thought it through with you. The more I kind of think it's actually a problem for Milwaukee and what a turnaround this would be like in can you remember a crazy or turn around? Let's say in America a sport then the Phoenix Suns winning the NBA title if it is to happen here in like two weeks, honestly, know what I mean, it's probably, you know, some team out there. Some story out Thursday Oh, the person I'm going to get called out about this. Like they're guy. Yeah. Oh yeah. We'll get reminded to happen. Yeah. All right. Yeah, that's fine. But until then I will live in ignorance. I, I don't think so. And it's, it's crazy. It's not just the Whole Decade of just misery that, that's on trans up to have to deal with, in the sons of, you know, put up and just Unleashed into the Sports World, literally, two seasons ago. Two years ago, 2019, they were, they ended that year, 19, and 63 worst record in the NBA. There was a Josh driving years ago. You know, forgetting a grocery store appointment, year off. And now that in the NBA Finals, it's just a completely wild turn around and I, it's incredible. I I mean I sort of I tweet this out for every series win 19 and 63019 NBA Finals. Now our Western Conference Finals a couple of weeks ago. It's it's crazy, it's it's a while sometimes it's, it's still a little hard to believe that they're they're doing this but and, and you off The people will say Good, Fortune injuries, all this stuff. Yeah, I mean every team that's won a championship. Is that good fortune the sons of that good fortune. I'm not going to deny that but the sons of a terrible fortune in the past, in help my entire life, being a Suns fan. So I'm also not going to take any of this for granted. The following players played for the Phoenix Suns. In 2019, in manual. Terry, I'm going to be honest with you, like I, I know most wage players, right? Like, if not all NBA players, I don't know who Emanuel. Terry is. Like I do not know Chauhan Evans. George King, Eric Moreland Isaac off or Isaiah Canaan. Quincy Acy, Ray Spalding and one Jimmer Fredette play. Oh man for the Phoenix Suns, in the year of Our Lord. 2019. It's a go from that to NBA finals. In two years, is kind of inconceivable to me. It's really just unbelievable. In every regard and chat out the song. Unbelievable. It is it is it's Wildey a fun fact about so that season you were just talking about your listing off players. The final game of that season that where the season that they're finished 19 and 63 two years ago? Exactly. Jamal Crawford was a Phoenix Sun and scored fifty-one points in the final game that game, that was also a final game of Dirk Nowitzki's career, where he scored, I believe Thirty and, and in a win and that was a while. So, Jamal, Crawford. So the final game of the Son, season 2 years ago, was Jamal, Crawford Route, 51 points in a loss. The final game of the Phoenix Suns season. Now, two years later could be lifting an NBA championship, trophy, just wild. I remember, I was off of summit the year that Jamal Crawford dropped fifty and everyone was like laughing about Jamal. Crawford dropping 50 cuz you know, who some it's obviously in Portland and Jamal's from the Pacific Northwest Georgia. It was just like one of those things, where everyone was like, oh my God, like this happened. Like, how did how did this happen? This is unbelievable. It's a super cool story. But well, what in the world did we just see right off in Jamal, Crawford, Jamal, Crawford going from dropping 5th or the Suns. Going from Jamal, Crawford dropping 51 to where they are. Now, is unbelievable. Even look at the previous game, that was the starting lineup of the Phoenix Suns in their second to last game of the 2019 season mikal Bridges. Shout-out Macomb right. Dragan Bender, Josh Jackson Elliot Cobo, and Ray Spalding. That was that was two years ago. That was two years ago in the seam is now in the NBA Finals. Shout out to the Phoenix Suns, Streaker? Tell the people where they can find you on the internet, you can find me on my Twitter at streaky shooter s r e k. I shooter go, follow Shrieker. I swear to God you will not laugh harder during the NBA Finals. I so like are you someone who has like stuffing queued up in like ready to go? Not usually I mean every every once in a while I'm not a big draft guy every once in a while. I'll think of something that I'm like, oh not now, I'll save it for later but it's emotion. It is it's sort of real-time in the moment because that's how I use Twitter. It's always real time in the moment. Yeah. Like I it's funny like everyone, like yells at me cuz I have all these typos like, in my tweets regular office. And I'm like, yeah. Like I don't know man, like I don't care. Yeah, I need you to. It's it's fine. Guys, go follow Streaker. I swear to God. You will not laugh harder than it. Has been the game theory. Podcast, please remember rate review, subscribe to everything.
