"Bella Check and Landry for all time wins. Only coach with least 90 wins with multiple franchises. 17 postseason wins tied fourth all time. We're going to be a hall of Famer. But you had another Super Bowl. They're yummy Club by way, its last time to get in your thoughts on Calvin Johnson tomorrow. I think he's gonna be a first ballot. They announce it tomorrow. Who else is going in? It's like what's in Peyton. And then it seems like the narrative is Calvin Johnson might be a 1st 1st timer. Close, so it's not like knowledge pain. Yeah. All right. I mean, Calvin Johnson was. Ah, great talent probably had five or six years where he was elite. And, uh, Yeah, sure. All right. Maybe this alley maybe you got I hope I hope And, you know, people said, you know what do you have it? You know why? Why this love affair with Toni bacilli. I only know what I saw when I saw it. That's all. No, It's like Jimbo Covert. When I saw him, I thought that he was one of the best lineman than I had seen. And Tony bacilli, even though injuries cut short, and I had been talking about Tony Vasily for the Hall of Fame. I never met him before. And I hope he gets in. But if he doesn't, then you know what we tried I wrote a letter to the Hall of Fame and asked the pro football writers to consider John Facenda John Facenda, the voice of NFL films should be in the Hall of Fame. Whether he gets in or not, I don't know. John never met him. Don't know his family. I just know when I still saw something in this case heard something. He was the voice of the NFL. Any deserves to be in the pro Football Hall of Fame. Yeah, why? Receiver Calvin Johnson, five Pro bowls. First time? Three times He was all pro. Tony Boselli, five Pro bowls three times. He was all pro, both retired at age 30. They have very similar resumes. Different reasons. They retired, but still he had no choice. Yeah. Calvin decided He didn't want to play anymore. But hey, if he go if Calvin goes in good for him, I mean, I don't know him. But if he goes in, I know he was a great player. Draftkings has some prop. It's McLovin, and I think it's fourth quarter related profits that I wanted to bring to the audiences attention these air really interesting and I have no idea which way you go, for example, which team will score more points in the fourth quarter, Kansas City, Tampa Bay or Thai Does that mean that the team that's winning will score more? Or that it's like a three touchdown game and there's garbage time? That's why it's such a hard bed. You're right. If let's say Kansas City's up by three touchdowns and hashtag Tom leads him down to a couple of touchdowns. And they outscore them. You know 14 to 3. Then you would lose. Here's a good one. Well, the fourth quarter two minute warning happened at the two minute mark. Yes or no? I'm gonna say no. Do you have a data points on this one? No, I don't have any data point. These other people that track that kind of thing. I'm gonna guess they're right. There always usually had a minute 58. That's the most common time for the two minute warning. Will. The two minute warning happened at the two minute warning? Just even thinking that is pretty good. We all put in $10 on this one. I think it's better Polish. Tom Brady running back. Uh oh, yeah. Paulie has the Tom Brady running How many yards he rushes for What is the over.

Oh, that's great. I didn't know so far. Savvy, Happy birthday. 18 2nd greatest, very disappointed you guys if you said the greatest be any ultra video of the greatest Chicago born player Actually, that might technically be Chelios. That is the greatest number 16 from Chicago. Ever period. End of story we go Here we go with that best from Niles, The best from Niles and Brother Rice, Right by way of brother Edward's, right? Yes. Ballard Ice Arena. That's right. Happy birthday to the great one. Wayne Gretzky a day. So has it. Has there been a documentary made about his exodus? Going from Edmondson to Los Angeles? Where can I find that? I believe there has been, I think maybe one of the 34 13 30 for 30 do something on that Peter Pocklington and keep Silverman's feature because he's the one who broke the story. That's right. Yeah, you know what Hot link? Yeah. I need to watch that because people don't know the enormity of how big that was Small Town Edmondson, which is Kansas City of Canada. So, Edmondson go from going for Edmund tip from Edmonton to Los Angeles. How big that Woz the great Wayne Gretzky leaving Edmund Tractor, All those Stanley Cups on all of those great teams. He was sobbing in that $34 because he was getting traded. He never did crap out there. Well, they went to a cop. They didn't win. You're right. They did go to a cup final Barry Melrose with their coach, so that one was called King's Ransom, and it was directed by Peter Berg. Yeah, it was done in 2009. Luc Robitaille. Taiwan. Thomas? Yeah. Luke. Luke went with him when that part of the trade, and I have no idea what was sorely for people who say McSorley went with them shortly. Robert. I was already there. People say he's not the most dominant team sport athlete. You take all his goals away. He still the all time leading scorer in the history of this right? More crazy, more assists than any other player in the history of sport has points. Correct? Yeah, I mean, it's slow. Who's number two? Mark? Messy Asian. I believe Messi is number two on the all time list, And I think ya girls probably pretty close because he played so damn long. You're so good. Yeah, Yeah, girls, probably somewhere in the top over. He's gotta be Moving up the list. Certainly, goals wise over doesn't have the assist that those guys had. It's not outlandish to think over. He could pass the goals. Yes, over. He could break the goal record, believe it or not, And that would have, like 10 years ago. You never would have thought that's That would have been possible, but no, he could. Yeah, it's an amazing Santiago's second going messy is third, according out fourth dagger past because he played so damn long. And then I heard Wouldn't wouldn't brew was talking. You guys too. I mean, speaking of amazing stats, and when he dropped the one on Brady like Tom Brady now has won more games in the playoffs than any other quarterback ever has since turning 35 crazy. It's like what sick since age. He's one mortgage aims than Joe Montana one. After turning 35 or or since turning 35 like, Wait a minute. How so, you know 17 playoff games Since turning 35 17 wins, It's just Tell me about all those those hall of Famers he played with, by the way. Why receiving running back now many randy drunk. Yeah, that's probably it right. Randy Drunk. Who else? That was the only guys who make the whole thing. Maybe. I mean, he also Well, sir, That's not gonna be home. Mike Evans has no shot. No, no way. Well, maybe maybe he might, He might, But this is he's so You know, early in his career? Yeah, Maybe that's that's a little bit with the has seven consecutive 1000 yard seasons to start his career. The only guy to ever do that cool in Hollywood. Right, Right. That's it, right. John Taylor, the Florida time Roger Craig Hall of Famers. It's true. Roger Craig's Not that I don't think so. I wouldn't think no No. None of the tight ends. I'll take those guys over some of the guys that Brody's into play with, I would do. I take John Taylor. Dwight Clark was still pretty damn good. Lets the gentleman you know Dwight Clark. It's pretty good. All right, that's all right. Let's not do that. That's not do that, But I just random accountants out there. He's just passing the ball to let's not do that was pretty good. All right. All right. I'm not in the hall of the very good, No, not even close. All of good. How about that dropped the very Hello another level over the bar down a hall of good. We were saying he's marked early. You can build like another hall down the street from Ken and then maybe another block. From there. We'll build one and like you could put Adelman and Welker and those guys that got to do that. That's the thing that's impressive to me, your kids that you when you're able to do it with Those players not necessarily game breaker difference maker guys, They all worked together in concert, not necessarily a level top chef. Guys read, react team concept. That's what Belle check teaches up there. You look at what they did defensively too, You know, with guys Bag with guys. Another group that you don't have a ton of Hall of Fame players from right well is high log. That's it. Uh um Maybe Rodney Harrison. He has a second patch, but he's not. Richard Seymour is up for the hall. He's among the finalists. No brewski looked like for a while. There. You try to push brewski, you know over the top, but there's no No way in age that Bruschi ends up getting in a Richard Seymour is the one to try to push Now. That's when I'll ever saying Yeah, he and his 50 plus sacks really not going to get it done. I doubt it. I mean, he had like 57. Maybe White had 50 some sex. Like rainy white player the time with it and throw the ball as much So you don't run defense was important is the band's I'm guessing raining might have played some years without Saca's. A staff quote, says Kennedy also could have yet Randy could done that. Without Cortez. Kennedy only had 50 like eight sacks. But Cortez Cody was a dominant defensive line is the player of the night and he was on the old decorate area. You watch Cortez Kennedy play. He was just Disruptive. Iswaran samples have said You didn't get that. Richard Seymour. Richard Seymour didn't provide that. No. Cortez Kennedy was drafted by Seattle first. Did he play anywhere else? No. I think just battles for him. He was on the all decades. If you're on the whole decade team, he should have pretty freaking good. You should be in Like that's that should be it. You know, That's why Jimbo all these years should have been. I know his career was short, you know? Unfortunately, he didn't You know, Longevity is in there for a guy like Jimbo. But Jimbo Covert was on the eighties All decade team with Anthony moons. We do the first team we do. That would be in the hall. You can't not be in the home beyond it all. It was amazing. We do that with football. We don't do that with baseball. All decades. All decade like Grace is not going the whole right for leading the nineties and hiss and doubles way Don't do in baseball with Palmeiro. It's just grace. Speaking of all the baseball thing will be announced tonight. Tonight, Everything gets in. What's the list? Again? She'll shilling Shilling wasn't 70% last time and No one That has ever gotten 7% has not made the whole thing, but they had a number after the Capitol riot there were a number of voters reached out to the holosuite. Can I have my ballot back? They want to penalize him for supporting the hall say I never heard of response. Do not believe that allowed you to have your ballot that Yeah, that's no. You made a vote. It's for the Hall of Fame. It's got it is. You know Ty Cobb's in there for crying out loud. I mean, you can't But baseball in their charter says character and integrity will be considered..

"It's It sucks. It's going to take some riel. Guts, toe. Look in the mirror and go guys. We're not one left tackle away, guys. We're not one other receiver away, guys. We have got to change how we do business. Period. Period. Member When Jim thinks came in, what did he do? We talked about it last week. Lineman, lineman, lineman, lineman lineman and all of a sudden you looked up your Whoa! You got Jimbo Covert. You got mark boards and you've got J. Hilden Berg and you got Keith Van Horn and how many guys on that somewhere? Plug and play first rounders. Others developed, but We don't have that. We haven't made that commitment. No, you're right. I mean, it starts with that the offensive line. You knew That was gonna be a problem coming in, but doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to just be horrible. Because falls did get the ball out quickly. But yet you're not connecting to your receivers. Quick enough. You're overshooting them or you're under throwing them. That's also major problem. And then you know, once again, you've got to go to Cordero Patterson and there was some good a couple of plays in there. That was good for him. But then you're trying to get the running game established a team. By the way. What was the story line? We talked about Friday in our keys. We talked about the third down in efficiency for the Titans. Let's be able to get it down. Get it done, especially on third and short. If you can you be able to get something on third down and the Bears could not do so. How in the world horrible bear Titans defense on third down and the Bears can't do anything about it. That tells you all you need to know about the bearsoffense. They cannot exploit a weakness. That was pretty clear from the Titans coming in. And once again cap another bears Monday where the Bears cannot run the football. 20 carries 56 yards embarrassing. That's alright. Phone lines air happened. So we'll get to all these calls were going to go all over the place in London, Chicago, Inglewood to River north of Farmington, Minnesota to DC phone lines or happened 312. 3323776515 and four is the season slipping away Bears fans Are you where I was last week? 3123323776 all of your calls on the disappointing Chicago Bears. "Shoot. Let's save it for tomorrow. Take that 3123323. 7 24 hour tease that always works in the business. You go learned it. Mr. Ali. Mr. Ali, Let's go to Dan and Arlington Heights. He's next. Hey, Dan. Hey, cap A J. Good points here first off. I don't want to say he dominated because I think it's difficult for a hunter to really dominate. But Johnny Hekker made the Bears look silly. So rough heated. Think again. You should be packing up his locker. Um, thie, other person that I really want to pick on his Charles. I mean, he's just not great. He couldn't block a Twitter troll, you guys. He's missed in a caste night on little fourth and goal. He went on. What? He was just dancing around the line with really poor footwork. And little 10 came in unblocked falls, and that could have been a real turning point of the fourth quarter and they were playing lead away too much money for him to not be doing ton. I know where already thin at mine. But Leno needs to go a huge liability from all they a penalty in an overall blocking standpoint. So Charles Leno like it. Look, you don't have another option there. If they did, he'd be playing sure. So you want to move on from him after the season? You're not going to release Charles Leno today because you don't have Jimbo Covert, sitting on the sideline going on healthy. I feel good. Put me in. I'm Ah Hall Famer. It is what it is, man. Like I'm advocating. If you truly look in the mirror, and you're in the executive suite, you go. You know what we go get a really good guard. We can at least run the ball a little bit better. Okay. What's the prize to get Joe to near Kevin's ight, Lor some veteran guy out there. It's not extreme, I'd listen. If not, I'm keeping my draft capital and I'm fixing this in the off season, and it may be a new GM fixing it. The way things are trending. He's got one year left on his deal. Hey, man, there may be massive, massive change coming up there. You know, when Lou Holtz coach the Notre Dame fighting Irish, the one thing that he didn't like eating like schemers you want you'd run around and he would be walking around and goes that guy No See, coach your steamer, Your schemer. He hates schemers. What he cared about is production and plays. He hated guys that was on the coaching staff area's schemer. Are you doing this scheming? What your steamer like He hated schemers. What he wanted is he goes, He wanted production He wanted plays. So is easy. I could sit here and make a casing like Owen can't steal. What is he doing with this often? I could do that this morning. Ultimately of up to about the production and the players, right. It's the choices that you make. Right when you Ryan pace, correct choice that you make correct, And it's not about the scheme is about the production or lack thereof, agreed. It is embarrassing that the Bears can't run the football better than what they have. It's embarrassing. It's embarrassing to find out. It wasn't not here he stand. I don't think it's unwanted cast steel. They're smart, well respected football guys. It might be time to look at the general manager and go Okay? I'll let you be GM of my defense. Offensively, your track record is Awful. Awful. Hecker is going to get special teams Player of the week. Oh, God, I think is any question about it? And as he ran down the field with the last one that landed at the tour, the next I was like, I want to punch that guy. Ah, by the way, Patterson existence, You know, it's one thing. I don't want him in the offensive system. I know that Maggie has to have it because you gotta have instead of here. Harris and Patterson plays you just have to have it right. You just gotta have it. Despite trying to get commit right and get Graham his touches and make sure Anthony Miller is like, never mind about those guys. Your core. Let's get the third string tight end his touches. Let's get a special teams is his touches on offense. It makes no sense to me. Patterson was able to get to the 30 the 18 1920 25 yesterday. That great field position all across 30 you'll take. But when you're in the teens with yours when you have a struggling offense, it's really stands out a lot more correct. And I asked that question to the guys and they said, Here's the one difference. You know, your offense is so bad. You know, that guy has a history of taking one's to the house. You roll the dice because you think we can't score on offense. Let's let him bring it out. But then when you only get 2 19, which were 25, you know, let's go to Marlin on the north side. Hey, Marlin. Hey, How you doing, Charlie? Good. Good. So I just want to say we are five into we have probably the worst offensive line in the league, and our running back is probably the worst in the league like he I don't think he has 50 yards yet this season and we're five into and then you take a look at like Nicole like he came in late. You get a pre season, so I think we only really like two games. Until really regular season without Kobe. Everybody's panic in, they calm down. Let Maggie hold due date day, so let's let's not comment on it. All right, so we're going to fold up our shop and handed over to Daniel returns to God. Stop talking bears football. It's not stop holding him accountable, Marlin. So we're goingto hand over a Carmen..

"Listen, I And I told you this before, and you never took it for granted at any time. But like Walter was always around the facility. Not every day but was always there and then all, Walter was on the sidelines for the majority of the games. And like he treated me the same way he would have treated like Neil Anderson or Mongo. Like in a matter of you were the 53rd guy on the roster. You were the number one guy on the roster. Walter was always there to kind of pick you up when you were down or congratulate you when things were going well, so like Walter was around more than probably any of the other greats. So you were always in awe. But then Dick Butkus would be around at times. And then you'd go to functions will where Gale Sayers was was a part of different events like to go to a golf tournament and be at that golf tournament where the George Bland With with Dick Butkus with Gale Sayers with Walter Payton. You know, with just so many of the all time greats, Jimbo Covert. It was just like it was like a dream come true for a young kid. You know that had dreams of plain but was never one of the best players and was always just going to play a minor role. You were always in all of these guys. And to have access to the needed in a small way was just It was crazy. Everyone and you probably grew up watching Brian Song. You don't have a hole. It was not interrupted. I got to introduce my brother to Walter Payton. One day like I mean, my brother's eyes. I couldn't give a rat's ass who I was like he was like, OK, well, I'll get away from me. Get away from me. I want to talkto me and Walter was engaging. Is anybody you would ever come across? Good people do that, right. I mean, like, that's how you judge a person, too, is like death that he treats you the same way you would treat anybody. Anybody famous. Yeah. Is Walter. Yeah, they were. I mean, there were so many guys like that. I mean, Gail was fantastic. Dick Butkus was always great. I mean, The list goes on and on Carrie fence. It is one of those guys. I mean, they're just they were all legends, and they were all just wonderful guys. It's It's an honor to have been a part of the organization and even a very in a very small way to be to be honest with you. So R I P. Tio Gale Sayers. And all the best to his family. "I know there's not okay, There's no possibly no preseason. Rookies. A rookie's gonna take his lumps, But I'm excited. Not only about that number one pick and I have been talking about it quite a bit because I did a few shows on their draft in there free agent signing Just about every guy they signed is a free agent has playoff experience. You bring that playoff experience this football team that needs that. Six of the seven draft picks were captains on their college teams. One was a three time captain. There's I think two or three of these draft picks their dads were high school coaches, so they've been around that And then the seventh kid, I think Higgins, the wide receiver from Clemson, left after his junior year, I talked to a coach that knows knows his position coach Extremely wass. If he comes back for senior year, he's going to be a captain, because you don't get it. Many young men that are better than Higgins. So to me, it's like the Bengal Zach Taylor. The Bangles have created this culture through their draft and free agency that they understand. They gotta win football games in, you know, so and I know what the note OT days and no camp. It's going to be difficult for these young guys that come in. And perform and performed a high level, But there's gonna be some bumps and bruises, eh? Take but hopefully it doesn't take long before they start. Dylan is a football team, and there's one thing to be a great player, and Joe is expected to be a great player. But then you also have to elevate your franchise. What do you think they could do in this year in some of these bizarre situations that were in right now where he could build that trust and and really take advantage of this year because I don't really judge this year and wins and losses for the Bangles? You just want to get a sense that things are moving in the right direction because there's going to be some some obviously some road bumps and some turbulence in your number one with that. I think the primary thing with this football team going into this season, hopefully this season or the number of new faces. They're goingto have on both sides of the football. And if Joe broken Be that catalyst can be that leader to bring those guys together. They've got. He's got a J. Green back. So you know he's gonna have some pretty good offensive weapons. If you could bring that offensive line together, and he can hold them accountable, get them mentally prepared even better than they've been prepared with a couple of young guys on the left side with Jonah Williams and Michael Jackson. If he can accomplish that, and you you can see that, you know, kind of from the outside. I think that's going to be a big plus for the football team, and it's going to be Ah, Win. Even Ah, You know, even not looking at the wins and losses, but I think that's what we have to look at. With this football team and job. Earl being the the new leader of this not only the offense, but I think of this football team. Let me ask you, Anthony about a few history questions just to get your feel on this before we talk about victory beyond competition. Once again, we're honored to have The pro football of Famer Anthony Munoz. Here with US Stop NFL 100 team came out this year to celebrate the 1/100 anniversary of the NFL. You were clearly on it when you look at some of the best offense alignments that you either studied or that you've seen play since you retired even when you were playing, who were some of the best offensive lineman that come to mind. We'll have to. You know Jackie Slater was one of them. You know, a guy that's not in the hall. But you know, Mike can with the Falcon's eye Jimbo Covert with Gary Zimmerman. Those were guys that when I was playing, I usedto watch because one of the things we did is an offensive line with our coaches. We would look at lineman and try to pick and choose little things from incorporates. Kind of, you know you're making a little recipe toe. You know for those that like chocolate chip cookie. You want to make those chocolate chip cookies as good as possible, while we would take little pieces, So it was it was guys like, you know, like Jackie Slater and Gary Zimmerman and No, those type of guys that Jimbo covert that that did in excellent job when I was playing and you know, we had a few guys that were pretty consistent throughout their entire career. So it was good for me to watch a lot of other tape other than just my opponents. To get get a feel for what guys were doing. In fact, we actually renamed one of our one of our techniques. We used to call it the Slater techniques because Jackie Slater had this technique that he would do is more of a vertical set and let the guy kind of you know and then work around the corner. And you know, so we said, Okay, this is another arsenal for Repertoire is going to be called the Slater technique. And then on the flip side of that, when you were playing three best defensive players, you have had to lace them up against easy. Leroy Sellman, Fred Dean, and probably the number one guy always says Bruce Smith. Those air three and I could go on and on. I could plan him. Another 10 11 guys. But those three Fred deny face place My 1st 2 years. Leroy, someone I face twice my rookie year and then, of course, Bruce Smith cry face from 1/2 dozen times during my career. And then before we let you run the floors, you are my friend. Tell me about Victor. Beyond competition. All the great work that you're doing Well, you know, you know exactly. It's funny that we've talked about, you know, we talked about college. I talked about injuries, some losses, you know? Played in a couple of Super Bowls, 16 and 23 losses. And, you know, I I hated to lose as much as anybody. I loved the win. But you know you're gonna lose sometimes and one of the things that I'm excited to be involved with the cultural campaign dedicated sharing how all people not only athletes and parents Coaches and fans can experience victory beyond.

"Have you with us. For another edition of Sports. Byline some news coming out of the NFL about a rule tweak the NFL's thirty two owners will be voting on a major rule. Change this week in the form of a fourth and fifteen alternative to the onside kick but before they vote could happen the NFL decided to make some slight tweaks to the final language. That rule proposal the biggest change is that the fourth and fifteen play will now be an untimely down under the original proposal. The play was going to follow normal. Nfl timing rules but now the clock won't move at all. If a team decides to attempt the fourth and fifth play this small tweak is actually a pretty good one I think and that's because it could add some serious excitement to the game. The other thing is the NFL looking at ways to cut down injuries as we all know they've been talking about it for a long time and they've made certain changes like with the kickoff and in this particular case. I think this is a good idea as well. There is always the chance of an injury on a play like this but I don't think as much as an open onside kick would be so we'll see what the NFL owners decided to do on this rule change also the fan polls still getting a lot of play. We'll leave it up one more day. How do feel about fan? Lewis sporting events. Do you play the fan. Free Games in silence or pipe in can cheering and still silence on top with fifty three percent of the vote and can cheering with forty seven percent by the way on exports byline. Jimbo covert is going to be with us. He's being inducted into the pro football hall of fame this summer. So we'll talk about his outstanding career and Mike Murphy they call him Murph. I knew him when I moved to San Francisco clubhouse manager for the San Francisco giants for more than six decades. And He's put out a book. It is a fascinating read. And don't forget on Friday. Ronda Rousey will be with us. Linda Cohn will kick things off in just a second coming upon thirty years at ESPN.

"Things it's great it's almost like being a free agent in a filmmaking you have to learn from the bottom up and that's what he did in college and it's wells company he was going to make it the NFL talking a marked man the fan in studio with us former NGO CBS sports network I was fortunate to work on the pink panther radio broadcast for a couple years in the years I spent on Pittsburgh and getting to know the history of that program one of the things that jumped out to me was the nineteen eighty team because it was player after player to player you Jimbo covert bill mas you've green Dan Marino it just blows your mom thing what was going on out there yeah free look as well yeah yeah I'm Ricky Jackson she's ready macmillan first round pick is running very easy on defense yet bill no jury will our ski you had Carlton Williamson as a defensive back even our could even our kicker and punter day trial got drafted played USFL so we have seventeen guys off the graduating class player yeah for your sake who was my teammate Cincinnati deal as a bully ball I didn't realize what is on that team yeah that was that was maybe one of the great all time teams in the history of college football real. got it yeah that the U. S. C. team with Anthony Williams yes that team was unbelievable to the head bunch a hall of Famers and act on that team him we have four guys in the office of line get drafted to in the first round gimbal myself Russ want a third round he's a hall of fame he will Boris got drafter roughly to got drafted to a lot of talent and often to my Joe Morris our offense of line coach one of the best in college football history and thinking back I as cultural once we want twenty two into our last twenty four games and I said we have won a national championship because why did a really bad job coaching. now with Marino and blocking for him I mean it well first of all this is what I want to ask about marina you seen him slip in the draft you know him better anybody you like this is a mistake every team is passed on him you probably going this is a big mistake we won the Superbowl appears here are really thought Bobby better general manager put the word out that Danny was on draft boy he's got a good guy because he wanted to follow us and he goes to the office just before pick so think about it the super bowls that we want to run that we had nearly if we had Dan Marino's court good to super bowls the two first the first U. several still fashion yeah Doug Williams in the third one the fourth when I was in there but that was mark ribbon so if we had Dan Marino at the quarterback position with the receivers Armonk guys like that in the greatest game ever the interesting thing would have been what he been to Dan Marino that don Shula allowed him to be in Washington and I think you know that what didn't you guys open in eighty four against them and did he like toward you guys either yeah that's what we need. your job a hell of a lot easier absolutely we had a terrific think about Dan Marino with our running game the hawks yeah stop well see but this is a thing like this is always the crux with him because Jimmy Johnson tried to bring a running game but it just never really worked and he didn't like it it always and I you know that that was a frustrating part of Danny's career I'm sure but he was such a gifted thrower in he was the center of attention for those teams for so long that I just wonder like if you ever got to a team like you guys the hogs in the counter trays and all that other stuff what it had it had been or look the same way they wouldn't look the same way but we're been better with more explosive on offense how are you going to defend the running game that we have and with a quarterback like they really could get rid of the ball like that throw for yards on field on point and he was a player that in college great runner terrific athlete play baseball stress today is a great idea before you heard his niece was ahead of the player but I remember the first time he came to training camp Richter travels a quarterback we love Rick you came with our class first practice deals like zip zip zip so we look around us like that's the guy. mark may you know it's interesting about Danny because I we may be seeing what will be or end up being the greatest of **** performance by any quarterback this year it Patrick moms because he's off the charts but I go back to nineteen eighty four and that was the end journey started against you guys to me that is the greatest single season a quarterback ever put together simply because of the rules back then and he threw for over five thousand yards threw for one forty eight touchdowns or something and and think about the way that defense was played back then and he was extremely well coached and eventually have a terrific job of them sit in support of this great players I think that was a key but it's just that he knew that he had a gifted player in probably a generational player Dan Marino and let's get the most out of much changer off and we're going to become a passion office period and that's what they did in at that time it was kind of unheard of yeah Dan Fouts doing see India globe but in that time you didn't throw the ball as much as a through ball today was more of a running office could you imagine playing with Patrick moans. he's off the charts because so you're an offense of linemen you watch him play what do you see I see a guy that. it's not hard to block for because you can always going to be most of the time but you have to hold your box because you never know where he's going to throw the ball but when he throws the ball on schedule on time he's magnificent and he's a playmaker out of the pocket and only on that the things that he does it's you just don't throw the ball back in it you just don't throw with your opposite hand you just don't throw no look either back in the day you know if you truly know what class well come on man on the bench. what he completes the so this is just he sees all those players he's fun to watch and I just hope he stays healthy the next decade because I want to watch in progress to get better. yeah I think you missed an opportunity here here raising awareness of flu shot the flow what about mono awareness because that's something I could. yeah I mean that yeah and in all of your years of football have you ever heard of something like that and it's all player cornerback missing multiple weeks of mononucleosis never I've I've been around players in the early eighties players that model but if that was the starting quarterback yeah and it's one of those things we just want to keep that player we from the rest of the team and I I think in this situation was Sam they want to do that is that the bad thing about Sam's nice in office of coach office a money coach as head coach and you thought he make that progression this year off as of late the way he finishes season last year but now it's kind of a step back and he's probably lost a lot of weight and he's gonna come back and get back to the system back the flow of things and people can expect as soon as he comes back bam Sam's back we're gonna start one and it's gonna be what's gonna be apart I see I feel bad for him because you know he's he's still or a really young man yeah and that's one of the reasons why I ended up getting mono I'm sure but when it when you talk about when you talk about you know doing Haskins I played a lot of football as like Sam played a lot of football either no but the thing about to wane in Sam if you look at them they're two different types of quarterback in my opinion if you look at Sam Sam can be one of those guys he's gonna be right the system for the system with Duane I think when things break down he's going to go into his own spear and make different decisions and I think he's a better quarterback and most people think he's a he's more mobile than people think he's not a four six guys like a forty five guy we've got a good fit in a pocket is almost like Ben Roethlisberger he's gonna be able to move the ball around a pocket maker decisions throw the ball vertically and I'm just excited for the NFL because I can't remember a time in the fall we had so many good young quarterbacks are started in plain plain and I love mark it's a pleasure talking to you tell everybody before you leave whites on poor to get that flu shot. get your flu shot anywhere from six months to whatever get him every year each and every year the reason why is means of people get sick every season. hundreds of thousands of people go to the hospital because of the flu thousands to tens of thousand people die every year because of the flu the flu shots not a percent efficient but it's your grace to turn of not getting the flu I got my shot yesterday in in washing DC get each and every year the thing is you go out in public I what do these public events in in not only myself staying healthy I don't want to give the food to somebody else to catch the flu but I don't want to be in crowd to be an airport travel have somebody come get a selfie put her arm around me answer hack on me I don't want to get the flu and I don't want to spread the flu so for me it's kind of personal for me I'll make sure my family's protect as much as possible my friends are so go out and get the flu get it get it this fall get your flu shot in conclusion at each other and I gotta tell you how much we appreciate that as a parent of a cystic fibrosis child we have been you know advocating the same thing that I cannot believe this book is never been made a movie. I'm reading it right here from a little preview. It says, if I never get back is a nineteen ninety debut novel from American writer, Darrell Brock in the novel a modern day, San Francisco, journalist named Sam Fowler steps off an Amtrak train, and finds himself in eighteen sixty nine he joins the Cincinnati red stockings baseball team meets, Mark Twain and falls in love with a woman of the times, now, it's an unbeliever. "ESPN dot com. Adam rates as a possible solution to avoid the type of miscall that occurred in the NFC championship game. The NFL is expected to consider a plan that would allow limited coaches challenges for incorrect. Judgment calls that also could include a penalty or time runoff. If the coaches wrong per league sources, it is a proposal designed to get those against allowing coaches challenges of officials judgment calls more supportive of the potential rule change by creating a disincentive or penalty e to even question a judgment call. It would be used rarely and wouldn't be abused. At least. That's the hope one source predicted the competition committee will figure out a way to get a rule like this past especially considering that it has the attention of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. So would you be up for that? If it is. Reviewable. But if the coach were to be wrong in the judgment again, it's all about judgment love the officials penalized by yardage. I wouldn't take time off the clock. You would not have run off. Yeah. I would penalize by yardage. So the way they got the run off. Now makes a lot of sense. Yeah. You know, the ten second runoff. You're in the situation. You're trying to get up to the line of scrimmage trying to get everybody said you don't get set. You've got a legal procedure. You've got a ten second runoff, right? That makes sense. I like that give them a penalty ten yard penalty back them up ten yards. So that's what you do tenure penalty. Not only you know, d- ten yard penalty and lost down hall. How about what is grounding penalty? Yeah. You really have to be correct. You really have to feel like you've had some each. That's interesting your Heathrow good wrinkle into that it ten yard penalty Annalisa down. I mean, that's pretty punitive. If you're wrong. That's it. So it would only be used in a case like the NFC title. Yes. Yes. Interesting. What I do here. Kid. I like to bring up some intriguing things every once in a while. I think I can get behind that. Okay. I wish I wish what I've got some interesting stats to go back to our hall of fame conversation. Real quick ninety one games for twenty started in ninety seven seasons last year. He played three games. That's all he played for us. If you look at or maybe it was for Jacksonville still talk, but he never played downtown for Houston ended up catching some checks. There would still be on the on his career, whatever do Hickey chart that that he would have a hundred and eleven for JIMBO covert. Wow. One hundred eleven seventy five time pro bowler three time all pro player. Three three years seven years. Yes is amazing. And for JIMBO was three times. All pro two time pro bowler, which kinda weird being an all pro three times it only being in the Pro Bowl twice. You know, when you look at for what it's worth if you look at Tony Boselli careers, similarity scores on pro football reference dot com. There's not a hall of Famer on here. And I guess it's just because the limited number of years. He played I maybe they do this by like total approximate value and he couldn't accrue enough because he didn't play enough seasons. But he's better than all these guys. No disrespect, David bacteria, Sebastian Vollmer. These are good players, but Ryan Clayton who was pretty dominant for a couple of years Kristie Allman Zack Martin David decastro Clint Boling Roger SAF old guy McIntyre. Who was a terrific player for the Niners in Mitchell Schwartz. Those are his career similarity scores into me. He's better than all of them. Yes. Yeah. He was so dominant compared well look up by JIMBO covert, STAN, his similarity guys let me see so pro bowlers there early in his career Jonathan Ogden and other guys like that. Like if you go to Bissau lease. Let's just look at this real quick. Like if you go to Sally's year through year, five of his cry right now, look, okay, you ready. Larry Allen hall of fame. Anthony, moon hall of fame. Richmond Webb great player. Russ Grimm hall of fame. Ryan Klay, Jake, Scott Jonathan Ogden hall of fame can't hall terrific player. Center for the Buffalo Bills. That's our team player of the year. And and I was so nervous going in that game. And I remember I mean, then you get on the field, and it was just a football game played them balk them. And and afterwards. I remember talking. Well, we just our game plan. Was you in a block them? I might did you have a backup at least if it didn't work. And that's so yeah, I guess there's certain guys you trust your exact Martin's one Jason Peters. Another offense alignment I would trust. There's there's a handful guys out there. But I I don't, you know, JIMBO covert to me a whole Famer in, you know, I don't I've met, JIMBO. But I I don't know him. I just there guys that I think it lost in the shuffle there, and I think Pacelle offense lineman get lost in the shuffle little bit there. "So he doesn't ruin our day because he's the type of guys ruined today. Well, Jason Peters had Khalil Mack one on one. And I thought that that was really impressive and he took low MAC out of that game. I Jason Peters who is left tackles in this generation that is so overlooked and under appreciated is good as any left tackle who's played in the last ten twelve years. He's one of my favorite guys watch his physical. He's tough. He's okay. Run blocker is an amazing cast Walker as well. I thought you did a great job Khalil Mack was a great one on one match up now. And so in Georgia asking. Yeah. If you have Jason Jason Peter star player guard, you feel better about the one on one match up. The Cowboys Zack Martin. And you say we'll I like back marking Martin against against Donald. Okay. Then maybe you want to slide as much the problem is they also know that in the wind up on the left guard instead of the right guard. Yeah. So there are certain players, you know, offensively as an offensive lineman. They you say we can we trust him. But there's not very many of those guys when you when you say on dolls. Who is the scariest guy that you faced? I know John Randall John Randall was different. But. Yeah. I I played against twice once when he was in his prime wants at to end. And when he was in his prime up in Minnesota. He was because he was short fast powerful. I mean, I just it was miserable day. So what I don't think. There's no one scared me. I remember, I was probably the most nervous. I was before I knew any better. And it was my first year of my second year in the NFL. We're playing the playoff game against I bet. And I remember thinking going into that game when he was defensive player of the year and watching him, Mike. Oh my gosh. Guy's a monster. And I was the second year player. So I obviously watched I was a college and research, and I remember going into the week and we're game planning and Kevin Gilbride our offense coordinator and Mike majors are offense lineman coach, and there was no game plan swamp. I kept on sitting there seeking like what do we do? And I'm like like, I guess like cure later. They're gonna come say we're gonna we're gonna chip and put it back over there and all week. No, one said anything. And I'm watching film and Mike. Okay. Maybe they know something I don't in in the night before the game were getting ready for and Kevin go by students final prep. And you said they're talking says. Okay. Yeah. We know this is five minutes before meetings over we know Tony's tough match-up against Bruce Smith. I'm like, well, I'm glad someone's acknowledging it finally. And so hey, Natron means the back, and he says, hey, you kid a chance every once in a while when you're going out just take a look it makes you out too. And I remember going to bed going. That's our game. And I was so nervous during that game. And I remember I mean, and then you get on the field, and it was just a football game played on bottom. And and afterwards. I remember talking like, well, we'll just was to block them. I might have a backup at least if it didn't work and imagine. So yeah, I guess there's certain guys that you trust Zack. Martin's one Jason Peters is another offense alignment I would trust. There's there's a handful of guys out there. But Donald man, there's not many guys who blocked him one on one. Good stuff. Safe travels. Tony. And if we don't talk to you before you get the news about the hall of fame. Good luck. Hopefully, you get that call. All right. Maybe I'll see you up in Alanna for the week. If you're going to be there for during. Yeah. That'd be great. That'd be upbringing. Bring your hall of fame jacket. Thank you. Tony. Tony boselli. People have asked me this like how long have you known? Tony boselli. I said, I don't know. Tony. I saw him play. That's all I needed. And so when fritzy said do you want to have Tony Boselli on?
