And on that morning, we were told to reporters were by a Texas state trooper who came by. He said, you might want to stay around today because something's going to be happening. At that point, the ATM became more aggressive. I decided to start injecting smoke into or tear gas into the compound tearing holes in the building with a tank and then injecting tear gas instead of coming out. The people stayed inside, according to the government, they set the place on fire the British Davidians themselves an act of mass self immolation in the building went up in flames in just a few minutes below by that wind. Some still refute that. They say that there was the federal agents who set the fire. That's still a matter of disputes, but 30 years later, those questions are still hanging out there, Brian. What is it like there today 30 years later? Well, it's eventually Roberto back to the farmland that it was before the branch of Indians got there. Catalog grazing out there. As Pride Month prepares to enter its second full week, some advocates say the LGBT community faces an increasingly hostile climate nationwide. Como Steve McCarron takes a look at the numbers and shows some alarming trends. You have likely noticed a lot more rainbow flags flying in communities across the region, with those colorful symbols adorning storefronts and flag poles to celebrate Pride Month. What does Pride Month mean to you? Living out loud, truly my living essence as as I am author sharing Green at Assam, a proud member of the LGBTQ community, tells me the month comes as a big divide builds across the country. National companies like Target and Bud Light facing backlash over the recent pride campaigns. We've seen efforts to ban books and schools and libraries around LGBTQ issues. And just this week, the Human Rights Campaign declared a national state of emergency for LGBTQ people in the U .S., citing more than 75 laws in over a dozen states that target the community. The divisiveness that we see has to do with othering, the right? You're either left or right. You're either LGBTQIA or straight. You're either white or within the minorities, and then that gets clumped in together. That divisiveness and backlash has helped lead to an increase in discrimination against LGBTQ people. This year, GLAAD's annual Accelerating Acceptance Study found a whopping 91 % of non -LGBTQ Americans think LGBTQ people should have the freedom to live their life and not be discriminated against. But LGBTQ Americans reported an 11 % increase in unjust treatment in 2022 compared to the year before, and up 24 % from 2020. Edesom says has become a big problem too. There are many, many factors that play into that. I think that for our community in particular, I think that there's a need and an opportunity to really reframe how the greater global community looks at us. That, she says, can start with important and sometimes difficult conversations. It's truly being able to sit down, meet with someone and find that common ground, that humanness. And hopefully a deeper understanding too. For Edesom, as these flags fly, Pride Month can be a great time to reach it. It's truly love and pride lived out loud. Let's do it. Come on in. "A little number in there that says that the user plates 0.1 hours or something. But talking about those is review bombers because the review bombers I'm seeing are people that still have 40 hours in the game. And if they're around and said, this doesn't have a Chinese translation I found out yesterday. Yeah, we wouldn't help with those. It was just thinking that people creating accounts. And it could tell that you were playing it and you weren't idling in this title screen, which is another way you could get away with it. If here's the problem, this is one of the reasons why whenever anybody says a reviewer needs to be tracked for completing the game, I agree. But far beyond that, that is, that is so easy to do. I could pay abs to play my game. Easily. I could, by the way, it would be free because abs he'd be happy to play the game. It's free. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And here's what you do need. If you really want to prove something, fucking have a questionnaire. And if you don't get right, if you don't get that questionnaire right, if you don't get the very basics of the game right, then it would stop you from, let's say, writing a review. Now, this is all impossible, but I'm saying that is how you do it. Because we've talked about this, the ancestry review, where the guys like horse riding sucks and the developers like, there's not horse riding in the game. What are you fucking talking about? That was our official reviewer saying that. And they didn't even they don't understand the basics. We've seen it with ubisoft games where somebody be like, I saw somebody say there were no cultists in one of the fucking Assassin's Creed games. And it's like, that's only 12 hours in. The reason we're extraction when people say this is because they hid the fucking tab. And those people pretended to play the game. That pisses me off. They never even got to my point to that point. I remember Rainbow Six extraction where they were talking about lack of content, but they haven't done they've only done the easy difficulty with at least. They didn't even do all the content. I want it to go even farther. If you're going to do it at all, I think what I'm saying is these piecemeal things with because I've actually little patch fixes. How many hours did you play? And I'm like, well, my profile says 45 because I tested the game on FPS's and I idled on the screen while I was typing something. And then I have to look and go, what's the save game say? Let's say, or look at my video recordings. Since I record all the game, I can usually hit the video recordings and go and add them up and say, okay, this is 20 hours. I told me on one platform, in some cases only on one platform. Yeah. And what about Hogwarts, Hogwarts has its own PlayStation, exclusive level, admittedly Jim Ryan has said that exclusivity is bad, and that it destroys gaming. Well, guess what? PlayStation has its own Hogwarts entire level. Business is business. And mission. Yeah.

Carrillo, who is also co host of the millennial mental health channel podcast, says once the excitement of school being over ends, so we start to see that they isolate a little more or withdraw from things that they usually like to do. If you have a kid or teen who isn't part of band or is a part of the music theater at school or in sports and they're not enjoying it as much or even something as simple as not enjoying video games or other activities they like to do. That can be assigned to look out for things like avoidance, related to school, things like a quick drop in grades, you really want to look out for that in school performance. And in older kids, times they'll begin to maybe self medicate with substance use. So you want to look out for that. And then also changes in routine. ABC News correspondent Jim Ryan is with us this morning. Jim, what's this all about? The warning simply be careful, great. It comes out every time there is an outbreak of illness, whether it's the flu RSV or COVID, the warning from the feds is that people are out there trying to take advantage of that. They're selling drugs that may not be drugs at all. They're selling things online that purport to do one thing when they might do nothing at all, or could actually be harmful, that red flags to watch for if you go online to a pharmacy that allows you to buy prescription medication without a prescription that's a huge red flag. Pharmacies that sell medications over the counter that purport to prevent or to treat the flu itself, not just the symptoms, another big red flag, watch out, buy or beware, Greg. It seems like whenever something is going around that people are being warned about, there are people waiting to take advantage of it. "Sent 51 welcome back to the show. This wind segue and then only Rodriguez in a trending story. Hey, Natalie. Hey, Brian. We're following a developing story right now out of Broward County. There's a possible bomb threat that's being investigated, and it's forced an evacuation at South Plantation High School. The school is right on South West 54th ab and Peter's roads, so that whole area is cordoned off. Heavy police presence right now, Staff and students are safe. This is a precautionary evacuation. Obviously, as this investigation gets underway, um students right now, from what we've seen are sitting on the football field bleachers. Everyone seems to be safe but again, an active scene South West 54th F. Peters Road South Plantation high. A possible bomb threat that was called in and police are not taking any chances. All right. Thank you for the update. All right now Texas received a lot of attention for a recently passed law over the past week. He new abortion law. That's not the only one after the huge standoff where you literally had Democrats fleeing the state to try to prevent a vote on the new election and integrity proposal in Texas. Efforts proof you even the folks I think there are a couple to end up in Portugal. So anyway, it has now been signed into law by Governor Abbott and Jim Ryan. ABC News in Dallas, covering this at Jim Ryan, TX on Twitter. All right, Jim. So what you know so much attention has been paid, and this has been true. Not just in Texas is situation but ours in Florida. Georgia's just to the idea that something is being passed rather than actually what Is in the legislation itself. What can you tell us about this? What? Right? Yeah. What? Essentially the bill here doesn't it probably won't apply to other states because I'm not sure that the same action toward taken there. But in Harris County work, Houston, it is. Several new provisions were put into place by the local elections office there, the county elections office. To maintain social distancing to keep people from being together in the same place, for example, in polling place, and so they institute a drive through voting they instituted overnight voting 24 are polling locations that they were mass mailing applications for ballots, not actual ballots. But applications for ballots. People would send those in fill amount sentiment. If they were qualified, they could receive a ballot by mail. The Republicans in the legislature, including governor, Abbott said. You can't do that Those things are all prohibited under the state election code. Democrats are saying since it boosted voter participation to record levels there in Houston County, Harris County, but it should be instituted statewide, but it's ended as as you pointed out there with the Republican Legislature failing here they did pass and yesterday Governor Abbott did sign the bill into law. It takes effect in December. In advance of next year's midterm elections. And Jim We've heard legal challenges that I've been threatened. In all these cases. We even have legal challenges him in against, you know, are are Law that was passed earlier this year. Any any word on you know what? What might happen and how quickly there Well, yeah, even before the bill was signed yesterday, there were groups lining up to file suit over it and they intend to use is the basis. The Voting Rights Act Civil Rights Act of 1964. Americans with Disabilities Act, a whole list of federal laws that they intend to site. During these lawsuits, which may push it into the federal courts and possibly to the Supreme Court, since it deals with it is something as important as voting. So you know that they may determine how other states decide to craft their own laws, depending upon how it comes out in the court system, So you know it's still there still drawing up legal papers. We don't know precisely what these lawsuits will say. But We can expect them to go forward now. Jim Ryan ABC News in Dallas. Thank you very much. I appreciate the update. Thanks, Brian. A couple notes about all this, too. So you know, we we've had these conversations over the course of time and quite a bit since last November's elections. But if you've forgotten a few things, or if you're new to the conversation, you'll often hear the argument advanced that. Oh, you know, there's not really any voter fraud or or anything. Well, The first thing is even in the case of Texas, and this is all readily available via the Heritage Foundation's voter fraud database, just successful criminal convictions of those who committed voter fraud. In Texas. You had 68 over the past decade. You've had 68 people criminally convicted. For committing voter fraud, and it is the case on occasion. You might have somebody who literally Ford's one vote. It was just one other vote, but generally the people that are going out their way to commit voter fraud. Have much bigger plans on the use of that lawlessness. Right? So you take an example the most recent that we're aware of, and in plain sight in California. This recall election is getting ready to take place with With Governor Gavin Newsom. So you have a meth man. You have this drug dealer who was passed out in his car. Police find him and as they detain him, and they detain illegal drugs and illegal weapons, they also Oh, The guy has 300 ballots on him 300, So that is far more typical. When you see these people who are committing voter fraud that's often in the hundreds of not the thousands. You might fall. These cases are also just the ones that we know about, right. The ones that are successfully criminally convicted. You have to wonder. Okay, Well, you know, if we have this, many that are taking place that are criminally convicted alley are never caught. And of course, we'll never have that answer. But we do know the 1333 criminal convictions for voter fraud have taken place in this country. Again. It's all part of the voter fraud database. It is real and the question then becomes why His election integrity that why is voter idea a bad idea? Why should we not be sending Ballots to people who are not eligible voters. But you know, might live so like these is really shouldn't be complicated Questions. And the bigger question is Mississippi has the most restrictive voting laws in the country. Why hasn't the conversation started there? "Or six on your wake up, call K f. I am 6 40 live everywhere on the I heart radio app. Jim Ryan. I was hoping you'd bring us some good news this morning. So would I. What's the deal? You know, we come out of covid. And you're supposed to be our bright, sunny spot, And instead you might bring us a blackout. Good, gracious, bright sunny. That's part of the problem here. Expectations that it's going to be an above normal temperature summer. That's according to the North American, the Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. That's the expectation and with that comes this greater risk. Of potential power issues. California is an especially bad shape in that regard. Jennifer looking at the map right now that the the federal regulators have put out the issue this report every year, the North American Electric Reliability Corporation sizing up the power needs versus the power demands that are anticipated. Especially looking at those peak hours in the afternoon, and especially during the late summer, when things are especially dried out, and in fact California is at higher risk than the rest of the country. Really, in terms of it's a threat to the power system, and that is, you know, and reliability. You add it all up and what what That means, potentially, is that wildfire season approaches, the temperature warms up. The rain dries up, and unfortunately there is that possibility for brownouts or even blackouts. Yeah, and it's you know what I I understand that some of these utility companies, especially especially if you're not PG and E, but you've watched what's happened with P Genie and the power lines and things like that. And you think to yourself. I don't want to be PG knee. So if we've got a wildfire headed our way, let's just shut it down and try and keep everybody safe. However, if it's a, you know, a day that's 100 degrees or so you're putting some people's health at risk because to leave them in a home, that's that hot with no air or no fans or that sort of thing. Then you also run the risk of hurting people. Well, absolutely. And I think the only way that you can really prepared for this as an individual. I mean governments have a role to play big companies and And they're huge operations can do something, but so can individual ratepayers. People who have homes and businesses can regulate their temperatures. Now make sure that they aren't running the air conditioning too much or too cold. To try to, you know, collectively says, save the grid in some way to try to to to cut demand. It's not the only way that the people in a large or small scale can have any impact on this at all. Absolutely, and I know that how do I put it? That's what we should all be doing. But I don't know that a lot of us are thinking about that. You're not thinking that far ahead and you're not thinking that Collectively, what you're doing is actually helping your neighbor. I know I felt so honestly, I had, like, um, I don't even know what you would call it. Blackout guilt, because three blocks away from me is the grid where usually if there's any fire danger, that's the part that they take offline yet you go to my house three blocks away, and lights are on airs going that sort of thing. And you, You don't really think about how your usage is impacting the neighborhood and your neighbors in Grocery stores right there in your area. Yeah, well, that's it's all about to supply and demand. It's about how much energy has been reserved. How much can be pumped into the grid and how much you and I are running our air conditioning or our our refrigerators or whatever appliances it might be. But you're right. I know exactly what you mean when in February when all the lights went out in Texas and million people, millions were without electricity. My house was still on because we're right next door to a hospital. Oh. Oh, sure. Of course you guys can't go down, right? Right. They kind of had to family. They have generators that run over there. There are a couple of healthcare facilities here. But you know, we were just this geographic serendipity, I guess. Yeah, exactly. But do you do you feel a little bit guilty, though, Like, oh, my gosh, I'm so sorry. Okay. But then, on the flip side, you mentioned generators and my folks live up in the sticks in Northern California and because they are in an area that's High fire danger. I know that they're one of the ones that PG and E had talked about bringing the generators into their area. And if they were going to shut down the the power that sort of thing they were looking into getting those people those communities, the generators. Right? Well, yeah. I mean, if you want to protect yourself, you can always buy a generator on your own. California is interesting because it uses a pretty good mix of different sources of electricity. If you look at a place like New York, and I'm looking at them right now. About half of their power comes from biomass, natural gas and petroleum. These sorts of things Cole is this fairly small part of that. California has a much broader mix that and it does include a lot more wind energy, solar energy. With that, though, comes the the unreliability of the days when there isn't a lot of wind or at night when you don't have the sun generating electricity, So with that comes some good and some bad. Reliability on a normal day, but a little less reliability during peak hours in the summer. Absolutely, Jim, thank you so much. I appreciate it. Have a great weekend. Thanks. See you later. ABC is Jim Ryan. But it's uh It's really hard. Do you think when your house is hot and you go and you turn down the air conditioner? Are you thinking? Oh, hey, I'm pulling extra power off the grid. No, you're thinking I'm trying to call my house down. So it's I know that that's what they want us to think and I know that's what we should.

Boeing 737 Max returns to U.S. skies after nearly 2 years
"Well the first commercial flight of a Boeing 7 37 Max aircraft in nearly two years, said to take place today on American Airlines. Max departs Miami for New York's LaGuardia Airport this morning, ABC. Jim Ryan joins us Live right now with more so, Jim, let's talk a little bit about the criteria. What did the FAA use here to deem that the Boeing 7 37 Max is ready to fly again? I must say it is really Sam from Boeing, a redesign of the max eight aircraft retraining of pilot and, of course, the FAA did its own investigation and its own infections of the Max eight aircraft. But it's been less than two years now completely redesigned plane now extremely complex that some are saying that it was with the grounding was not long enough that there should have been further investigations. Some family members of the hundreds of people who died in those two crashes in 2008 and 2920 18 2019 say that they want the plane to remain grounded on grounds that they say there were improprieties in the inspection process into the training of those pilots. So no doubt, not just those families, Jim. But the entire aviation world of the entire world, for that matter is going to be watching this flight. And I would imagine subsequent flights with 7 37 Max very closely over the course of the next few weeks and months, And is there some sort of a time frame? That they're giving this and then do they plan on expanding these flights in the not too distant future? Well, at least in an American airlines, you know they're going to continue using this aircraft United in Southwest are other huge customers of the 7 37 Max. They don't plan to fly their new aircraft until early to mid 2021 next year. Alaska Airlines has just ordered several dozen of the aircraft. So yeah, Ryanair, Also Europe's air air air of Azaz decided it wants to order more swell, so there's no real timetable. That they all have agreed upon. It's the airline's making their own decisions on when they want to ramp it up again. So at this point to your you've got the flight from Miami to LaGuardia. Is that the only one today of the 7 37, Max? Or is that just the first one out of the gate today and that there might be Mork coming up either today or or throughout the week? No plans for today. But throughout the rest of the week, If that seems like that, like 7 18 Miami to LaGuardia will fly using the max eight, so at least we know that those will be in the air. The interestingly I talked with the widow of a man who died in the Ethiopia crash. She says that passengers should be checking as they make reservations to see what kind of aircraft they are flying on something that most people don't even think about. But she says that people should be doing that for their own peace of mind. She's not convinced of the safety of the 7 37 Maxie, and she thinks that past me or should make an important decision about whether they want to fly on it. Today's flight. We don't know whether it's full or not, but these air paying passengers of American Airlines Miami
