"You to believe that there is an open quarterback competition between his top draft pick Trevor Lawrence and Gardner Minshew. There are dumb ideas, and then there's that sure smells like some college Bs, doesn't it? The kind of thing that might fly in Gainesville but not Jacksonville. Washington Football Team Wide Receiver Terry McLaurin On The Jim Rome Show

"We're joined right now by a receiver for the Washington football team. He has put up huge numbers already 87 receptions over 1100 yards receiving. He had four touchdowns last season in the post season, six more receptions 75 yards. He was a member of the All rookie team in 2019. He was Theseventies sixth pick overall in 2019 out of Ohio State. Washington was the NFC Eastern Division champs last season. Terry McLaurin is my guest, Harry. It's great to have you on. How are you? Hey, are you doing to meet you and then have me on your show, Terry. It's great to meet you. It's great to have you on the show. Thanks for doing this. Let's not would say to you and ask you what you've gotten up to so far in the off season, but I know one of the things Is you get on the golf course because I see it on Twitter. How are you hitting him right now? And when did you start playing golf for the first time? Uh, well, I've actually kind of just kind of start getting into golf. I've been a kind of a golf fan. You know, I've watched certain tournament over the course of my life and, um, you know, I found that golf is is another way of kind of unwind from playing football and relaxing and but also staying active, and some of that challenges you physically and mentally and I'm always looking for some way I could get better challenge myself. So, um What better way to find that out, then goal. You know as people that she is, my golf swing is not the best right now. But it's all about improvements. So I think I made a big jump in just a week, and I'm excited to see Where my game takes me next. Terry McLaurin joining us That's exactly the kind response I would expect from you knowing your process than where you go about your business. Now, if you and I were to go back to 2019 is a rookie. You had more than 900 receiving yards. Then you come right back in 2020, and you have more than 1100 receiving yards and you go to the post season when you and I know you're looking forward, But when you look back on 2020 and the season what sticks out to you the most I think just the challenges of the season. Um Just first and foremost, from the pandemic standpoint of, you know, being able to play a full season and then you know the ups and downs that we had, Um, you know, as a as a as a football team, you know, we start off slow, but we started getting our stride and We started getting a moment. Um and then you know, he started to notice that people are starting to respect the Washington football team or and, um you know, we go out there each and every day. The O worked hard for each other and try to win football games at the end of the day and You know, we're not just satisfied into the playoffs are next step is getting there and and winning. But, um, you know, we did something that should that would. This franchise has done in a little while and I feel like it gave us a little bit more men. I'm so the The number one thing that I kind of look back on this season is just ups and downs, but the growth that we made a team and myself individually in my second year, Terry McLaurin joining us, You know you mentioned the postseason. You suffer that high ankle sprain late the year and you went hard like you fought hard to get back on the field. How determined were you to get back in time for the postseason? And how critical was it to you to rejoin the fight with your teammates? Yeah, that was everything to me. Um, you know, not many people know I was dealing with two high ankle sprain at the time when my left and my right, But, um, you know, I didn't really use that as an excuse. I have plenty examples around my building's not use. Certain things or, you know, elements of the things you were going through as an excuse. And just try to put your best foot forward for the team with Coach Rivera battling cancer. I was coming back from his triumphant story s. Oh, there's plenty example so I could look to the Get added motivation and just seeing my teammates face when I'm on that football field, and, um, you know, being a captain, that young leader of the confidence that gives them when I'm on the football field. I wanted to continue that and not being out there with him when I was when I wasn't it hurt. You know what I mean? But at the end of day, um, injuries are part of the game. You just try toe, manage them and try to prevent them as much as you can. But You know, the whole time? I was in good hands with our training staff. And my only thought was just to get back and produce even if it was just to take a little pressure off our other skill players that get you know them Some cleaner looks. I was willing to do

We're going to that a little bit earlier in the show an hour ago, I had some beef with Deb. Oh, And I, um I went off fairly aggressively and quite accurately on his hypocrisy and how I think he's made it really impossible in this season in this moment to root for him. Against Ohio State. If you got a dog in the hunt, you got a dog in the hunt. Here comes and fans you gotta root for clubs and I get it. But like if you're like most of us, where you're just watching is a sports fan. For me. It's hard to root for a guy on any level. Who Talked pretty clearly about the need for understanding back in September, when his program might have required it in the uncertain times ahead and who hated on Ohio State for having had too Navigates him that uncertainty in a different way than clumsy did Now the devil didn't need to be the beneficiary of it. And several of you have Ah perspective, an opinion, so let's let's do it. Let's go to beautiful Tennessee. Ray is on the line, right? I appreciate your listening, brother. You're on the gym room show. Brother. Y'all are rocking it today. Look, man, I'm 54 years old. New takes lot fire me up since I just say the rules in football got a little soft compared the old school days. But Dave I'm normally all about the pros and the Titans of I don't even know if I have a dog in the fight, so to speak. I'm a tennis evolved ironic or mosque at our Mosca. Must step the dog. But here's the thing. Nobody. Everybody that started out at the beginning had the same thing that we were doing with with Corona or whatever, however, you do that all the questions all the question marks about how were you going to go about doing everything? It was on every team in every league in college. Ohio State was no different than any other and they knew from the get go. It was fair. Everybody faced off with the same problems. This one body said when when he told us how to be a winner, he said. Football needs to be played fair. It's fair if everybody space with the same thing up front. Just because you pick a different route to go does not mean that you deserve to be in the playoffs or in the national championship because you did not. Play the same amount against which makes it unfair and you had a chance to play the same amount of games. But you chose to wait late, knowing that you wouldn't play the same amount of games in knowing that that might cost you a chance to go play in the national title. If they do win, I will not accept that. I don't think they're going to And that brings up to questions. I'll just won't leave with your brother if they if they did win I'm not gonna accept him. But if we had Texas A and M playing there when we have that same question, and then for my balls, I just wanna ask you. Should we not go after that Coach at Liberty, Brother? We need him bad in Tennessee. Thanks, guys. Ray. Appreciate you. Look, your perspective on Ohio State is legitimate. Any perspective that's grounded an authentic view that six games isn't enough and you have a sneaking suspicion. That Ryan Day and the guys in Columbus Dodge Games because they could. That's a fair and reasonable conclusion. What's not fair and reasonable is if you made the case in September that that kind of an outcome that kind of a situation That kind of a reality because a cove it if you said with all that be impossible, that happens, it happens. I'm okay with it. You can't turn around. Have it the other way. That's what makes me so mad about Dad Bo. Gimme a break You devil come out in September that look Games ain't gonna be enough. You gotta play a full schedule, and that includes Clemson. And if we push problem he'd never do. This is the thing that makes you met. Did Ohio State manipulate the system? Maybe baby? I don't really want to accuse programs of using covert as a shield, even though some surely did Because some didn't see Florida State. I'm giving a break. I mean, dabble going off. On schools, saying they're dodging him Stop. Devils take his perspective isn't about what's right and making difficult decisions in a weird year. It's not about what's best for college football. He doesn't care about that. It's about what's best for Clemson and DeBow. All right, Normal year. That's what it is not this year. Don't come on, man. We're all dealing with this garbage in the pockets. He drives me crazy, and I guess I'm not alone. You're on the gym room show J. C. Tweet said at Jim Rome at Sports writer Love You coming out hot today. Oh, Dad. Oh, he's a hypocrite who talks out of both sides of his mouth. Keep the fire coming. I'm with you, man. I think that's part of the reason I'm fired up to I like to feel like that. Always. I got a pretty good read on guys, right? I like to believe whether it's true or not. I think it mostly is that I'm going to see people for who they are. I get to go behind the curtain a little bit of my job as a reporter, and I'm gonna I'm gonna call a spade a spade. And I feel like Devil fooled me, man I got I got Hoodwinked by the charm. All that charm, But I need substance. It's more than in Steve and saving the opposite. Right. Saving is so I mean, my experiences with with Nick Saban are sitting in his office. Getting be little but not in a disrespectful way just to know you're dumb way. That's the dumbest question ever heard, but an hour or two hour conversation about life and football. You could ask Nick saving a question. He'll tell you it's stupid. But then I'll give you a 15 minute. Really thoughtful answer on it. Those of the people that I'm down with. What you talking about Russell Westbrook earlier. I don't think Westbrook's approached basketball is gonna ever be successful. I like the guy and I want to be wrong because he is what he is. DeBow, saying one thing in September in the opposite this week because it serves his purposes. I think it tells you a lot about a lot about Daboo. Brooks Becca, which is a great handle tweets. Are you really surprised by anything? A grown man named Davos says Or does to be honest, It ain't the name that's really funny. I'm just not surprised anymore by what anybody does. If they think they can get away with it. You know, anybody that plays games is is legitimate. Fast. Forward games is a legitimate get out of here. 106 368686. You want to give us a call here on the gym room? Sean Bill, right. I'm filling in for Jim. Let's go to my brother's state, Colorado. Bricks on the line. Rick. Happy Holidays, Man. NCAA plans to move entire 68-team basketball tournament to one city in 2021; discussing with Indianapolis

"Basketball. We're joined right now by a college basketball insider for CBS Sports host of the college Hoops today, podcast. Also in front of program. He is John Rothstein, Man. John, What's going on? How are you? Never better. Only great to be with you. Good to have you, John. Great to have you here. All right, so a lot going on the blade. John announced this morning that the tournament and CW tournament will be held in one location and that they are in talks with the city of Indianapolis. The host the entire 68 team event there. First of all, what is your initial reaction to that news? Proactive planning is always better than reactive planning. Jim and you have to sit your captain Dan Gavin, and everybody's the NC. Double A for this. We know that we're in uncharted territory. We know that we're in a once in a century type global pandemic. Now we're in a situation where we have a plan and after they're just hanging up On a call with then gather it. He made it very, very clear. And once the team heads to that area, where the NC double a permanent hold and the NC double agent endeavoring to lock up, according to get it, the city of Indianapolis as that host city by January, 1st. Once a team travels to that city, it will not be permitted to leave. Until that team is eliminated from the empty double a tournament. John Rothstein is joining US John the tournament has been scheduled to start in Dayton on March 16th and 17th. Do you still expected to start at that time? Or could you see it moving back at some point? You know, one of the things that's interesting. Jamie's Dan Gavitt said that you know, because of the different protocols that have to be in place in order to successfully pull off a tournament in a short period of time. The calendar may not be the same for March. Madness as it normally is. It's an in perfect year. It's an imperfect season. But the bottom line is this Jim at the end of the day, and I know I might be the perennial optimist. We see so many people so coming to the negativity that goes on in our world today because of obviously everything that is going on in our world today, But it is time like this. You have to look at the positive or their programs shut down in college basketball. Did a covert 19. Absolutely. Did the Ivy League cancel one of sport's last week to the cove in 19? Absolutely, but the facts of the fact. Over 90% of the Vision. One programs as of today are up and running, and the facts of the fact. There's going to be set back. There's going to be cancelation. But we're having a college basketball season and we're having an NC double A Parliament. If that doesn't get you excited seven days a week and twice on Sunday, I don't know what does

Chicago Bears-New Orleans Saints fight erupted after Javon Wims threw a helmet punch

"My thoughts on that Saints Bears game. And wins. Throwing not one but two punches to a guy wearing a helmet. So what's going through his head? What's going through his head. Why would you punch a guy in the head wearing helmets like the dumbest thing ever? The only thing dumber than that is doing it a second time. What could have prompted that? Why would you ever run up on a dude? And punch him in the helmet twice. Well, one explanation might be that it goes back to the previous Siri's. You see, after a play, there was some sort of exchange between whims and C. J. G. J. And while they were talking, CJ gj ripped the mouthpiece off of whims, his face mask and through it to the ground. Now that probably is over the line. Probably over the line isn't a reason to go debatable, but probably over the line. I gotta admit it's pretty funny. Somebody's not cracks me up him jerking that mouthpiece off his face mask and Troy to the ground actually made me laugh. For the record Tom Palace, Sarah reports. The whims told the Bears coach is that C J G. J spit on him as well during that exchange.

"Welcome back I'm Jim Rome will be a good weekend and spent the first hour talking about the top stories I knew this was found in the garage of the forty three car we talked about and the smack off as well and then I've got three enemies coming up starting the middle this hour walking back programs brought you by rocket mortgage by quicken loans rocket mortgage is with you every step the way to provide a seamless mortgage experience I've got P. Thelma coming up at ten forty Pacific top of our number three I have a legal Williams a draft pick of the Tampa Bay rays also coming up in our number three PGA tour pro Keegan Bradley I've got the A. T. P. I've got other topics other stories and a lot of recap to the smack off a lot of controversy in lesson further evidence that it works it was deep people care people are passionate rather unhappy the worst thing would be apathy like if nobody cared nobody reacted they would show that man this thing is over it's done it's played it's tired it's faded it no longer works let it go wrong your done it's done nothing could be further from the truth we took nineteen calls not only was a controversy the very top away there always is there is a lot of controversy from people who thought that some should be in the top ten we're not literally arguing about who should be in the top ten that's how deep that field is nineteen telephone calls when the two were run that's how deep it is good callers on the outside looking in did not make it in that's how deep that field was that's twenty six years in one eight hundred six three six eight six eight six follow me on Twitter at Jim Rome if you wanna respond with their you can also email me although Adam hawk is having issues with the email today I'm not sure why that is it just is if I've said it once I've said a million times don't email without a clean line like I said on Friday do not call in they shall be good clean line and then we go to a caller and it's not a clean line it was our fault be accountable I am accountable it was my fault that was my fault that was on me I put by a Brady at a disadvantage that's all I'm asking in response to something like that maybe you own what you did like I'm only what I did that was my fault but that kind of bad spot probably in help but then again he was gonna come back instead of going to a long form rant at the top of this hour I wanna keep going to the reaction because there is so much this guy was eligible he had a golden ticket but as I mentioned in the weeks leading up to it having an invite does not guarantee you will get on the air drizzle in Wichita my man so I could get him a good have you hear trees what's up yeah we're going to win your own aroma you live in the daily good do you have a few yeah man I can't call you don't I'm sizzling but Joe ma'am first things first some of ya'll still really just don't get it the same stuff that Muhammad Ali was fighting for is the same stuff that people are still fighting for in twenty twenty you think nobody beat Muhammad Ali for the world heavyweight championship it was taken form when he refused to go and fight in the government's war that he felt was not fighting his fight for his people as well it is the same thing now did it back then and I hate reading comments about lotus is the most gross global Wallace is ever got as if to say that somehow whether or not bubble Wallace is or isn't a good enough driver to even be in that car new data exactly what happened you all understand that if you tell somebody to a text message or you're going to kick their **** about the terroristic threatening to get thirteen years for that but what if some guy going to get to put a noose of Bubba Wallace's garage nothing but told Hey don't ever do that again old I'm sure he'll learn his lesson congradulations now rolled out the Prevacid too much my back take the money and I don't get no better for you and I notice because Tom Brady one not super bowls it took thirty million that's that now this for this medical bills Hey role did not put up a warning did not tell everybody that they were better off trying to pour gasoline on a body in a run to help cool off afterwards and say my name nineteen phone calls rooms what you took that not a single one was bigger and enough to call out drizzle because they know the score yeah I don't get along but the wrecking Israel and don't pretend like I you know force on me now say my name because you know what about drizzle in which stocks do not make it in this year keep grinding keep pounding key battling I can't get to everybody man that's what's so great about this event there are good people and good because they do not make it there maybe that's my mistake I understand one thing about this right I'm not looking for anything other than to be accountable and responsible for what we do day off understand that is not an easy show to do day off stakes are high we're doing it live we're doing it in real time and we have to make some tough decisions on the fly as we go keep that in mind we do the best we can I call it the way I hear it I mean you have to try to score that thing as you go can you imagine trying to score that thing at the very end I wish you could be here on the inside to see with that final segment is like after we've taken our last call and especially when the last recalls flipped the script completely and we had to make a tough call not to mention the top ten you can only imagine what that last segment is like is we are tabulating finalizing make your decision that is something it is tough and credit to clients you made it more challenging that's ever been before there's some years where it's not nearly as hard the issue was really hard because there are so many good costs really good because I've given you my breakdown let me go to this guy for his breakdown he's become known for this either he shows up day OB or he shows up day after and breaks down what he heard day out let's go to San Antonio Gino if you know how are you and I'm doing good I loved the that last phone call from drizzle but honestly at nineteen people call and none of them reference here it's not because you're relevant bro but you know whatever good for you seventeen great calls on Friday into people earn hurting themselves in the jungle walls Romy it's coming on I for one enjoyed Friday as much as you need to back off I've ever heard but something's really did stick out to me for example Victor by Broadway tearing up with Greg in Vegas not since Ford decided to combine the gas tank in the rear bumper and a Pinto as the decision team so clearly designed to fail I mean you do know that great entire acted based on ramping up amputees mac until Rome just can't take it anymore right this was your plan Victor a tandem bike ride with a guy who had his chances of dying with any dignity surgically removed years ago now and Cherokee to quote Benny clean it up girl by now I'm sure you've noticed the panhandlers and province are throwing change at you at the stop light clean it up and mark in Boston look mark I mean your flight Michigan you abandon your homestay caller when nobody blames you I'd be embarrassed both for Michigan to winter standards okay you did the right thing Caleb in Green Bay a true tale of woe not since B..

"Welcome back a very good Thursday to you in seven California I'm Jim Rome what cell phone calls coming up momentarily but as promised we're joined right now by a former university of New Orleans pitcher three you know on the year two point seven five ERA he struck out twenty nine batters in just over nineteen innings he was an L. S. W. A. pitcher of the week in March and a fifth round draft pick in the Mets this year we are joined by Eric or is he Eric it's really nice to have you on the program how are you good how are you it's good to have you listen it's been a couple weeks or I should say a couple of days since you've been drafted what have the last few days been like for you and your family they burn out pretty chaotic but they've been amazing just got the run around haven't having people stop by to graduate me and and has a phone calls and text messages but it's been awesome it's been really exciting American story really is amazing and we'll get into in a minute but if you were to take me back when did you first start playing baseball in what was it about the game do you like so much I've been playing baseball since is is early as I can remember means that although not pretty much walk I believe I've been playing and and just the the pass for the game really came from my dad I'm just always he he he grew up playing and and he loved it and kind of share that that love the game with me and just the every everything about it I really enjoyed and and and just the competitive nature of it and and for me it was always the pets inside of it that I always loved whatever whatever was bugging you guys out on the mound I just absolutely fell in love with they're a horse he is joining us so you played your high school ball at Glenbard north in Illinois then you went to northwest Florida state so at that point what was your plan and what kind of hopes you have for baseball future I just wanted to play at the next level where that whether that be division one or you know professional baseball obviously I decided I'd work pretty hard my whole life said to try and get to that level and I started realizing that I had a talent and an ability that would allow me to get to that next level and obviously enjoying a game as much as I did growing up and continuing to be given the opportunity to play that that next level was something I I could never even dream of having in front of me so I mean it it just means the world to me that it's actually here then this opportunity was even given given to me in the first place especially given what you've been through he was a fifth round draft pick the Mets in this year's draft records is my guest so just continue that story though you transferred to the university of New Orleans and then in twenty eighteen you were dealing with some growing pains the story goes that initially he thought it might have been from doing some extra work as a catcher and then you fight throat you keep battling but then one morning you wake up and you're in agony what do you remember about that particular morning not being able to move a really brief three well that was that it was pretty scary is about four thirty in the morning and I mean I'm normally a pretty heavy sleeper so the fact that I was up was kind of already a red flag and then obviously once I try to get up and move around a little bit and and was struggling with pain I knew something was wrong I'm obviously at that point go to hospital and and had some tests done and and find out being diagnosed her cancer that was something a twenty one years old you never really expected here but I mean honestly for the most part pretty much once I once I was diagnosed he took me a couple hours to get over it I I shared with my family and and by the time I coach is that showed up to the hospital and we're we're kinda asking how you can go on I was ready to get it over with and get the surgery done and and take the first couple steps it and put it behind me and there's so much that answer that's amazing America for instance as you point out when your young athlete your division one college APP wait you're in great shape you're young I mean what goes through your mind when you're told that you have testicular cancer that even register when you first heard that honestly not at all I tell people this all the time I I actually laughed at the doctor when he said I had cancer because I didn't think it was even an option so that those first like probably I would say five minutes I hadn't really sunk in and I just remember we we started talk about treatments and and what the next step was to get rid of it and I will I remember looking down at my hands images started shaking a little bit and I could just feel that that that emotions are to come over my body and I knew I was about to lose it accent I I cried like a baby for probably the next I mean probably our almost so that was the couple moments I'll never forget I specifically though I remember looking down at my right hand and he just started shaking up like a bomb but I've got to do with it right here this article is the joining us at the other thing is to like you didn't have family with you when you got that message in fact you were the one who had to call your mom and tell her the news what was that telephone call like that would definitely about probably the hardest thing I've had to do that was you know knowing knowing that especially being away from home and and my mom is very very protective that most moms are I knew I was going to be cooperative here so on that best phone call it was very difficult and that she knew something was wrong as well from the beginning she knew the number was that not mine it's not working because numbers in there wasn't a number from the school and then I mean you kind of got that feeling you know that that town kind of starts from the the second not she answered the phone so you know how long I'm saying Hey Hey if you're signing out there again from the get go so you can kind of just helping my voice that something was wrong and and that's what made it that much harder I was I was trying to hold back the emotions just for her sake more than anything but I mean obviously those those motion kind of came through on the phone call and and you can kind of hear her she didn't really know how to react I know she what if you had told their different for the first time about cancer she actually would like you know what I need to go find her father because he worked ten minutes down the road and I just I don't know what to do right now I'll call you back in time and when I when I founded fathers which actually drove over there's work and they call me back one and then I obviously share that with both of them and those are pretty emotional and emotional phone call teacher Eric or is he is joining us and the whole thing is just terrifying so at what point did you start your thinking when did it shift from the shock of the news determining all right this is what this is what are we going to do about it how we gonna beat this thing when did you start get leverage on this arm I mean it was probably just is probably a couple hours after I had been told me like like I said my my coaches were on their way to the hospital and by the time they showed up in the band we say an hour or two since I'd been diagnosed made run all the tests and all that and by the time they showed up they they walk through the normal like Hey how's it going how you doing just just seeing their faces it was kind of like you know what I'm good I'm I'm actually I mean a good as I can be obviously not good but as good as I can be I'm I'm ready to the kind of tackle this obstacle head on in and let's let's get this out of me so you start to go about doing that you have surgery but then you ask your coach Blake dean if you could travel with.

"Starting off our second three hours my name is Jim Rome I am live in southern California in those phone lines are lit up are they not hot wake up there I'm good I'm good I'm here so we start the second hour I'm live I mean I seven California based judios and this is an open our it's the are you wanna jump in next hour I've got two interviews is going to be tough to get through next hour really tough to get through C. one two right now one eight zero zero six three six eight six eight six this talk show was brought you by rocket mortgage by quicken loans rocket mortgage is with you every step of the way to provide a seamless mortgage experience in our number one Alvy how music and what demario Davis we had a conversation with him saints linebacker and we talked about a number of things including his reaction to drew Brees is comments yesterday in an interview he met with Yahoo finance you know I think you will what was disheartening about it was that we at hope that we would hear him elaborate more all the problem of racism and particularly as it pertains to the black community and a police brutality a ton of respect for him doing an about face and saying Hey I messed up what I see it came across as insensitive but I am you don't want to listen and know how I can use my resources to help because I am on the side with the people and that's what's most important now because of how things transpired you know is his actions would be we watch closely at all by you should be because it's not just playing a we want to change the actions that actually going to allow the change and that's what we need the black the black community as needed for a long time of need alot possible and that's why it's so great to see so many different ethnic groups who have traditionally in people who have traditionally got it wrong and miss the crowd before losing No Way this time I'm not going to miss yeah a Molly is this time of a mall there and I want to be a part of the solution and so it's been so many people who were going additionally that are that are coming in now and that's what's most important at the end of the day we all have he died in there the community needs alot possible and that's what we're here changes at that was in our number one tomorrow Davis of the saints linebacker there to me drew Brees is came on the program and shared his thoughts by one eight hundred six three six eight six eight six one take part that conversation go right ahead we know the topic as we start our number two Alvin I need your help in something else too I'm looking for I'm looking for a particular drop right now something that would let me know that it's time for the NBA to resume once again do you have anything like that on your fingertips that works that'll work that's what I'm talking about the NBA's board of governors is voting on a plan that would represent a return to the twenty nineteen twenty season the plan it is four twenty two teams to head to Disney world with the intent of restarting on July thirty first July thirty first the twenty two teams would include the sixteen teams they are currently in the playoff spots and then six more teams there within six games of the final playoff spot that means New Orleans Portland San Antonio Sacramento Phoenix and Washington are all going to Orlando as well which means we will get more of his eye on more game more CJ more Aldridge more pop and so on teams would play eight more regular season games and then there might be a planter made for the eighth seed in both tar or conferences if the ninth place team is within four games of the eighth place game so that's the plan that's the easy part the hard part would be actually executing and pulling off that plan like it's hard it was to figure out the number of teams and a format and a schedule the really tough part is going to be daily testing the restrictions on player movement when they're not playing it's one thing to tell guys not to shower after games or does it far apart when they're on the bench but what about the other twenty hours of the day how much of a challenge is that going to be for everybody involved the other twenty hours of the day and what happens if a player does test positive because the player is going to test positive and what happens if that player is a key player what if it's Yanis what if lebron were test positive for the virus in the post season which brings me to the other point and the point is we have no idea how this is going to impact all the teams they're probably going to be some teams who respond to the challenge and the format better than others they're probably going to be some teams who shop in Orlando and they hit the ground running the red hot they get on a roll well some of these other teams may show up out of shape sluggish and then never ever do get right there is definitely going to be a concern about conditioning and soft tissue injuries when the league does start up again but I do want to cut off one Dolby debate before it even starts if lebron James and the Lakers won a ring if they win a ring this year it is legit it's not tainted it's not cheap and it's real don't be trying to throw an asterisk on them if it happens they've been the best team in the west all season long lebron and Yanis have been the only real MVP candidates all season long if lebron in NPP candidate playing on the best team in the west all season long wins a ring in a playoff run of a seven game series then it's legitimate it's not a fluke there is no asterisk there is no yeah but it was held in Orlando during a pandemic there's no yeah but to it I'm sure I can make an argument that having the season stopped before half months and haven't played a bubble in a theme park I could actually argue that might make things even more challenging than it would have been in a normal regular season playing games next to a roller coaster and without home court advantage might make it tougher not easier and if you overcome that you earn what you get and you've got nothing to apologize for this same thing goes for Yanis if Yanis wins the title this year there is no yeah but about that rang he's the reigning MVP playing on the team with the best record in the regular season you do that and if you roll right through the playoffs you are a war the champ so don't let Phil Jackson or any other hot take artist try to tell you otherwise then so at this point in June nearly two months before the season restarts if either the Lakers or the box when there's no questioning the outcome if either of the two best teams in the regular season win the title they've got a legitimate claim background they've got nothing to apologize for she might be saying all right that's fine they are the two best teams in the NBA with the two best players in the NBA what if somebody else breaks their way to a championship what if somebody else looks their way to a championship what if there's a team there is currently a low seed and maybe not even in the playoffs what if they show up they get red hot they get on a heater and they run right through the post season to win the title it was the argument not that they're not the best team in the NBA but they're the hottest team in the NBA yeah I can make that argument but any team in any given year in any sport if they get in if you have a team right now that's near the lower tier on the outside looking in and they get hot they make a run that be amazing that incredible to see that B. prices L. maybe if they get a lot of luck along the way maybe there's like crazy inexplicable lock along the way maybe we have that conversation for the same time it would be impressive as hell to go from outside the playoffs looking in or as a low seed and winning it all in a theme park to be actually pretty cool and again not something to apologize for I would argue that winning it all this season is actually tougher not easier given the way the world is right now and then whoever wins it all he's got nothing to apologize for it so I see otherwise that's my take not only is it not cheap and but it might be one of the more impressive intriguing wins ever and yes a big time star could test positive during a playoff series you have to be quarantined for two weeks hopefully that doesn't happen but if it does does that change how the plants are viewed maybe but then again how would that be different Dennis serious injury which happen during the postseason injuries are always a part of the game here is what we do know now the league is giving itself a chance to finish off the season yes it's going to happen in an empty arena yes it's going to happen at the home of Mickey Mouse but it's still basketball and that's something it's something to look forward to and if they can do it now that it's allegedly sat up if they can execute it it would be something and not something that anybody who wins has to apologize for I'm fired up and I know for Ricky is is well let's play some basketball there is a nother topic for you where you come where do you come out speaking of a changeup Jimmy Connors and his son Brett are my guests on episode one hundred and thirty two of the German podcast that is life you do me a favor don't look for right now look for it after the program but it's a good lesson change of pace for a dear Jim the NBA playoff format makes sense signed the B. C. S. formula Brian Syracuse I actually think that it does make sense yes you can be a matter of executing it it's going to be tough to execute you have all the protocols all the testing everything is in place as I mentioned you know those four hours out of the day fine what about the other twenty hours out of the day like when the players leave I understand you try to be quarantined and in a bubble but where do they go and when they come in contact with and what happens then the formats not that confusing whether or not they can execute those big question whales in the three six oh tweets NBA talk I could go for the John Tash kawaii remix please all you had to do well as was asked.

I do call my dad J. because I want to work for him and then he fired me that's what kind of guy he was which I totally respect I never respected my dad more than when he fired me it was awesome one because I hated the job writing care but too because he was true to form like I'd grown up at a dinner table my parents own a small a small business and I heard this night after night after night after night business is business business is business business business take care of the business the business will take care of you business is business business business business business I remember one day after several years several years my dad my mom at the dinner table looked at my sister and I said you know what we're not gonna talk business at dinner anymore because it's really not fair to you kids because not part of the business so it really isn't fair I thought to myself good man those business stories sock we're not a part of it the business is boring it doesn't interest me at all the thing is my mother and father owned the business and because they both had their separate roles in the business they would come together at night and dinner and compare their notes of the day from the business but was family time but I think they noticed that we were tuning out and they weren't really about the family so they so rocky do anymore and I thought great because the business is really boring so what I do I get into the family business and they fired me but I respected my dad more anything for that because I deserved it I saw at the business but to be fair he sucked it making fences and so to die we weren't good at that the difference is I knew I wasn't good at it but he thought he was in maybe deep down he knew that he was not the hand he's got the world but many loved it he was working the land he was working his farm I love it thing is we're always early risers to like every Saturday morning we be up early he liked and he was from Boston yeah that Boston dialect that shall die like only six miles going Michael great where we going and then I I check myself immediately because I I knew that was a mistake we knew did what do you care get in the car all right I just wanna know are we going antiquing or we going to buy lumber to build more fences or we gonna go buy some shiny new shovels so we can show us some more horse crap I just want to know I just want to know because I already know what music we're gonna listen to what we get in the car a smart guy that's right smack I get the cash going home depot device and would like to make some fences and then we're gonna go antiquing when we're gonna watch football get your **** out of the house man I I know the problem the Mildmay used to have with me watching football all day on Saturday or Sunday I can only imagine what grandpa Rome will be doing with the video games if you had trouble with the Dodgers the Lakers and the Steelers without would he do with Fortnite I can't imagine because I know much trouble I'm having with it good times it's ME coloring outside the lines in that so believe I love it and unlike anybody else's lost somebody close to them are apparent you wish there around right now man the things I can say I have any questions I've had over the years for my dad not come flight flight back me right now like why do I have to listen to music I know because it was your car way to get your own car make a list of what you want right now I can't wait all right when we come at like I tell my kids die list of cool music you have any idea how lucky you are I got with him playing right now we're all nation third hours come backstage in this is a commercial announcement picture this scenario a shortage of fuel has closed your electric utility or any possible disaster is just devastated your town you're out of power no lights and no news that's why federal and state agencies urge every home to have an.

"So I'm Jim Rome and I'm extremely objective I do not play favorites what this is a big Arizona cardinal house and we are joined by an Arizona cardinal some do we talk about quite a bit but never had on before he is also a national champion yes No American he is a bucket award winner in ACC defensive player of the year he had one hundred and four tackles eight sacks three interceptions eight passes defensed two forced fumbles last season the eighth pick overall in this year's draft I say as Simmons is my guest I say it's great to have you on the show how are you I'm good Jim are you doing good good great yeah yeah so can you take me back to Thursday night you were in Kansas with your family I'm kind of curious I spend your whole life working towards this kind of emotions were you feeling during the day and the hours leading up to the ground R. I'm kind of weird but when I woke up they can just felt like it was a regular day but the more more we got closer to the time the job starting the more and more I started to see a different emotions for the most part it was really something else just goes by drain finally coming true and when when the Bengals first round the clock I started feeling butterflies in my stomach no they okay now is actually real is actually happening but overall it was a lot of joy I felt like yours really find it figure out what I was going to be spending many years of my life so it would build really a a great time to bring in that's great explanation right there I said Simmons joining us so what about the call itself you get the call from the Arizona Cardinals what do you remember about that call in that moment actually the first call I died actually failed so I got a little nervous at first but we ended up getting the next call to go through but you know I was like I said it was a relief finally figured out what I was calling and I found out I was going to a great a great program a great culture and the team that you know I knew was going to get it done just based upon I saw the people that the card of the choir Jim agency in as well as adding me and I did I was going to be something special so I was really excited yet they're building something big they are I say Simmons is my guest you know your journey really is something like if we were to go back to high school you were a three star recruit and some schools were ignoring you because as the story goes they couldn't figure out exactly where you would play so you tell me what were you like as a player in high school and then what was it like not to get that recruiting love from schools at that time no I'm not given that law I would not like it was something that I deserve and in high school I was I was kind of more of office supplies at least that's what I thought but on I always thought that I deserved to have more the powerhouse school blood finishing everything out of them finally came along and I'm glad that they did the card users it's a great opportunity to elevate my career so far I've just I've been really blessed for Cushman convertible taken that opportunity but I always thought of that I deserve more attention than I did but I know a lot of those whose incomes morning camps and stopping that's just wasn't something that I was getting into but at the end of the day everything has seems to work out in my favor no doubt as if those who don't know the story the story goes to Clemson had three D. B.'s enter the draft in twenty sixteen so Brent Venables he mentioned was something looking for another player and because he's from Kansas he heard about you he says that when he saw you he wanted an autograph so what do you remember rock climbs in reaching out at that time and what made you feel like that was the place you want to be yeah I honestly I didn't really know much about Clemson and I remember walking into school one day and my high school coach would like to talk to the animals and I was like who is that hi I need a logo doubled was right the only thing I know about Clinton was standing walking and went there and they had just played national championship so farm you know it was it was strange but I started learning more things about him figure out what state they were in and one compatible finally came he convinced me to take a visit to Clemson and actually cancel one of my officials which was going to move the ball so I cancel that it ended up going to Clemson and you know it was it was obviously you know the best thing I could not have done this a long long time I've interviewed thousands of athletes coaches personalities over the years I'm not sure I've ever ever talking about it quite like double Sweeney what was it like to play for him and spend time around him everything and more that you saw from the media on it great and he is as a coach he even better than store he gives us so much word of advice that will that will stick with us forever and he he he takes care of us football wise we also make sure that we're going to be set for life so equipped with all the tools that we need in the real life because he he really struck with a staff of walking off of it so on either greatness or in the evening you know great coach as well seven years on a cardinal Isaiah Simmons I want talk about mindset from it because nobody knows about your speed but Venables is said quote which you can't put on a stopwatch I've said it once I've said it one hundred times he plays so hard his insurance is like nothing I've ever been around that's his best attribute he works so hard and quote so my question where does the desire and that grind and that work at the come from arm sobered up I our own weather track I bought bought and an arm my coach is going out they were all Jamaicans hand they used to make me cry when I was a kid and if I did around the time that I was running practice I had to run again so I got the time and you know they they really just taught me how to work and how to say no the limits with my body and ever since then I have I did have a dog anything different so working hard if I if I'm not working hard he is weird to me so I really only have one speed and that's that will go my ceiling out once you read but it's not like you have only one position as a lot of people know you can play just about anywhere on the field and everywhere be so much easier to focus on that one position so what is it about the challenge of playing everywhere the you like so much how do you like how it just teaches you about all the different positions so board one trying everywhere you quickly learn all the dynamics of the defense in the holes of the defense and what you can and can't do and where your teammates are going to be at what time and it just it really helps you Barton gave me help play a lot faster as a player you for your message a couple really quick things you made the point your mom went to Creighton and has a master's from Bowling Green school were clearly was something pretty important to you what did you learn from her about that approach then how much does that help you with the mental side of football in preparation do did growing up that she really just prepare me that to know that the mental aspect of everything not just football it it is so important and they can take you so far the good mentally preparing for all the right things and just starting off the school school was always first sports probably second I'm from a friend who always second so being able to handle my business mostly in school and taking on the loans that I did we'll be prepared need to okay my game mentally highs Simmons my guest list and when you do what you do it's pretty hard for people to come up with other players to compare you to a steep climb the card said that you remind him a bride or lacquer others have said that you kind of like a much bigger version of Tyrann Matthieu what do you make of those comparisons in who the guys that you study in the NFL yeah so after the binder letter compares them quite a bit and as well Tyra Matthew but you know somebody who I would compare myself to any guy that I've I've studied a lot in terms James just because he also has like a similar skill set as ideal and he also plays multiple roles in the defense that even now as well as Florida state so actually you know I mean there we actually are good friends and and obviously need to work out with him and you know I feel like he's he's a good good compassion just based off what he does so finally the other day you said quote I'm like dang I'm finally in the pros I've been dreaming for this every day I wake up and I'm like I'm a cardinal let's get it and quote I really like the attitude what do you want the cards fans know about you and how you're going to approach being a pro and what they're getting in you as a player and person yeah so I work at they've never been stopped even though I may occur what I dreamt of I'm I'm always I'm always hungry for more things and I never get satisfied and you know I'll let you guys know that will be a guy's gonna come in and be an immediate impact I would say that it's already an amazing resume national champion all American bunkers were winner ACC defensive player of the year eight pick overall in the draft and it's just getting started I say a Simmons my guest eyes they appreciate you great to have you on the show for the first time a look for doing more as we get further along great to talk to you thank you John yes Sir I say nice to meet you good to have you great to watch we're gonna talk to to there is always got a good one now eight pick overall and I like warehouse myself and I love what I heard we will come right back my thanks to the cards they are a really good jumble tame even more importantly they're gonna be a damn good NFL team really soon really soon I love what they're building in the desert my thanks to Isaiah Simmons we had J. St air P. Brisco another big interview day when we return man of the awfully nice on Tuesday to add a golden ticket take your shot I've got the code nineteen round up Fauria and some final thoughts don't forget Alvin Stacey king is our guest on the German podcast moral.

"Welcome back I'm Jim Rome that way through it if you're on hold you want to stay there we don't have top your telephone calls a little bit later on but as promised we're joined right now by a center the Utah Jazz he's a two time defensive player of the year a three time all defensive first team player yep you tied to a nineteen to record over the past twenty one games by averaging seventeen points sixteen rebounds two blocks into assist during that span he leads the NBA for the third straight season in screen SS was seven point seven per game he is second in the league in field goal percentage second in the league in rebounds per game thirty four double doubles this season in Utah is at home against Houston this evening we go bear is my guest Rudy is so nice to have you on how are you great are you good driving yep you know I want to talk about the amazing season you're having and how good your team is but I need to start with the passing of Kobe Bryant what was your reaction Rudy when you heard that terrible news yesterday in with the shark Norton photo booth we just found out about the practice and no we couldn't believe it we I mean there was a you know a big big silence and we know we will try to figure out if the news of a real and you know we found out a few minutes so that they were I was just a moment note make sure to take everything into perspective you know this is the legacy and and the impact it had we would be the four of we go there is joining us in fact in terms of perspective you tweeted yesterday quote enjoy every single day people we are always too worried about things are actually not that important life is precious you never know when it's going to end and quote so personally how are you going about processing all of this about what curry how you processing this how are you handling this I mean it is like I said you know the mix of pink mix would take about them also lost one of my one of my friends we could go in car accidents was stuck in you know you see people and all of a sudden the next day it it it just not here anymore and you know and you can do everything right you know it's you can even light testimony into all these things and you know and have a car accident on someone eating you or you know you just never know in life so it's you know it's all about enjoying in order to do the things every day and you know and so on to serve the people that you know make you better today such a great message would go very joining us so really you're coming off a win over the Mavericks on Saturday were you a twenty two points seventeen rebounds and five blocks you've got some really really good games in your career where is that one rank especially when you consider all the clutch moments did you have late in that game really like the fact that you know we we won the game the main thing you know we we didn't blow bit games but of this game but we we we we stick together and you know we'll go through to the claims on the straights defensively and offensively I think it was one of a you know most exciting means of of the season for sure we wanna moments was that block on the lawn right to lay up in the final thirty seconds that really was incredible it was unreal because even more than that was the build up to the block because you made sure that look it did not drive then you made sure that right didn't take a three and then you recovered to reject the lay up so what was going through your head on that entire sequence and then how good did it feel to hear the crowd respond the way they did chanting your name in showing you all about love I'm in the minds of those really to get a stop you know when we were down to so it's not like no we don't three and we're just going to give it a three we just do the one that has to do is call and you know we knew that they were going to look obviously so look at the bottom of it and then them no and then just you what to do and and try to add up and you know I was able to to to to make a play after getting beat up the Jew bone and you know and then after that later for those in and won the game so he was a it's gonna go month it's in those two go up and you know in one meadows in which is of this no the last minute in the last few minutes of the game only a select awareness and all focus is ready increase in the province so good at the end of games which I would go there now I know you're focused on winning a doing a whole lot of that lately going nineteen into as I mentioned in the last twenty one with your teammates reminding everybody did you belong the all star game your coach Quin Snyder said when it comes to the all star game quote to be honest to me it's one of those things it's just self evident end quote I understand the you're not focused on that but what would it mean to you to go to the all star game this year I mean obviously we would mean a lot and no it just because it's something that no one would be best to boiling come to the league of the kid for the day that Noah Thomas as well I want to be at the microphone to be one of the best players in this league and I want to win the championship Nolan when the when we played with the pain of the team it's it's it's great to have guys that can you know represent represent outstanding in that kind of events of so we go there joining me for a few more moments you grew up roughly ninety minutes northeast of Paris so what was life like for you growing up you just touched on that but what was it like growing up and then what's it like now when you go home as an NBA star I mean what was it like growing up I mean I'm a really loves you know where a group of women among them no obviously a very humble beginnings but you know I think that's the reason I am William today you know already no enjoy every day the commonality you know enjoy the little things that we talked about earlier you know it's all about giving any can you half full nor for the people around you and and and you know for me that's why I'm so competitive Nora I just enjoy going out there much inmates and and you know I'm and try to win because it's you know it's really what what makes you feel alive and good of things we call them I guess all right final point into that point you in the rest of the team in a rolling it seems like from the outside I'm not there of course but from the outside looking in it seems like there's something really unique or special about this group how would you describe the chemistry of this team and what makes it special I mean I think it's it's it's ready like radio we really love each other not so to cool the you can tell that you know we we just enjoyed being lunch other and and you know and and and we got guys that just compare those guys that just want to win more than anything and well you know that your mindset and everyone is willing to sacrifice to the beautiful for the others to make the others better a mix you know he just raised into another level of them with the great courses and no one and the work in the world that we would be able to put in every day with a group of guys like that back care about winning you know you just you just feel like you're getting better and better every month and that's pretty much what we've been doing this year Utah's at home against Houston tonight nine PM eastern they have won nineteen of their last twenty one he is a two time defensive player of the year a three time all defensive first team are he's been playing lights out and absolutely should be an all star this year ready go bear my guess would be I know it's a difficult time in a tough time to do an interview I really appreciate you doing that thank you so much for having me a great day ready thank you we go there Utah Jazz double in all star no doubt my mind at a store what imagine the back in the day this was somebody who was actually over looked like on the way up was actually overlooked not anymore it has not been for quite some time right so our number three sets up like this I know a number of you have been on hold and are still on hold and I will get your telephone calls I do want to finish my thought site last hour or this past hour I had a number of sound bites and parts of interviews with della Kobe and some really serious and some are funny some on the radio program somewhere on the TV show okay more sound that I want to play from a podcast that we do a Kobe I thought Adrian was aroused he was amazing in describing what Kobe was like and his outlook in his view and again if you're a Laker fan and you in Los Angeles your Laker fan in your outside of Los Angeles this is a really difficult day and it's really difficult to explain to people who are not this town who do not have that kind of connection and I understand that I understand why you might not understand this but understand that in this town there is nobody like Kobe Bryant he was the preeminent LA athlete of the generation and to what his point there will never be another Laker like that again the fans will never connect with another Laker and a Laker will never connect with this city ever again anyway so you need because we saw him grow up I'm became as a teenager and spasms are career here and won championships here and did it a certain way yeah that would mean a great point to that Kobe like a lot of people like all of us was flawed to continue to try to get better and better and improve in recent years could tell how much you love and embrace being a father how much you loved embraced his daughter's like people stopping like yo yo coke coke you envy you can have a son like no I don't why for the legacy so we see a mom a junior its imam juniors right.

"Back to it I'm Jim Rome the last segment we are joined right now by the UFC women's bantamweight and featherweight champion first woman in UFC history the whole two belts at the same time sixteen of eighteen wins by finish including thirteen by knockout most knockout in UFC women's bantamweight history most wins in UFC women's bantamweight history facing Jermaine at da Randamie at UFC two forty five that Saturday Night Live from Las Vegas on pay per view Amanda Nunez is my guest Amanda it's nice to have you on how are you good how are you good good Amanda so we're a couple of days out from the flight I'm curious how was your camp and how is fight white week going for you it was amazing no same as I'd like was it my last one and if I may you know we have a lot of a lot of days to do of course I'm not dating Bob we have done to welcome how big a sweat and everything's fine you know ready to go Amanda Nunez joining us you know many you and I'm not spoken so let me ask you when you were growing up in Brazil he played soccer and then your sister introduced you to just do what did you like about you jitsu first of all is I think was Paul hill you you leave yourself and the problem for me play soccer ways I did bring up all the people you know in our boys hardy being for me in when I started training you you too I find them I find it is the ten day did I look for in an never stop after that Amanda Nunez my guest now there's a story also about how you watch UFC one fifty seven on paper view and that was the first women's fight in UFC history Ronda Rousey won by armbar what do you remember about that site and what kind of thoughts did you have that night we try which one when Ronda Rousey won by armbar in UFC one fifty seven the first women's fight in UFC history you watch that fight right I guess who I don't remember I thought the story was that you saw that fight and then the first thing you thought was I'm gonna kick her out of the way that it commercially that moved I need to watch it outside the whole thing on a and I worked at it they have a fight all our trade for the evil which by the same day it may need a lawyer the show and when we we finish the show watch the date our frames we run it to see we should be able to watch it stop fighting what we run it late in a we thought yes run around and he got her head injuries but we why cheat the creeps up all over when we got in the in the in the box and I saw what is the arm bar in that was a huge moment for women they made me that's some get at so you and Nina saw that and you saw the clips we think you that point I'm did you start to formulate thoughts I know that I can beat her on to be the world champion one day yeah definitely you know always always there will be that bad you know when they start it's all going to be the best of soccer anything that I do in my life I want to be the best you know I wanted to my bank and when I saw that happen I knew right away I would be the one I'm gonna I'm gonna get it about two in at the time I was the only bridge either wouldn't it often I know you if you've been assigned to me I know right away just a minute diary and I got a call I got a core tried but I I thank you know ready and when I saw the fight I mean you know we talk about it you know like so we can I get it about for her but hardly take for me to take from all the it is an asset now with my tie in novel yeah I am you are Amanda newness is my guess here you are not only a champ but a double champ now with the best in the game but are you with the best ever do it and at the same time Amanda what you're the greatest fighter of all time I think most would argue you're still posting very videos on Twitter of you in Neenah talking about washing dishes who should unload the dishwasher and things like that you said that without Nina I don't know if any of this happens how much does she mean to you and everything in your life you know like right when you wanted to do some date you do like we do about a person but when we win win in a guy my life is like everything floated out well you know I like we've already had three we like the same thing Q. five the other day to me you know and we work very well we had so much fun together and a lot of people watch guys they always beat is how how have busy like honesty like sometimes the medieval that who just happened maybe it may be right but I mean when I play with my phone in and he simply funny I want to share with everybody and I believe that but yeah I mean I was a huge huge they happy my life you know well we help each other we we got each other back if we grow together that's great that's great that's fine now you gonna fight Jermaine on Saturday you did beat her back in twenty thirteen when they came to you with this fight why did you say yes you know like because she she she just being there the content as ballade he deserves you know she was a former children on one forty five the only probably she needed to stay and help out but at least she got about and she made her way back now when they call me to feel like a Dick is they don't offer me anything else the judge can offer me her in a ticket Amanda Nunez my guess for a couple more moments matter before that you go I wanna ask about something your coach Mike brown said Mike brown talks about when some fighters when they can stop improving because they just want to do the work they feel like they've got it what I'm doing is working yet that's not what you're doing that you continue to stay motivated and you're looking to get better and add new tools how much better you right now then you were even a few years ago yeah definitely I I want to keep the girls make makes IT see myself into something new every time in the fight an avid about the home those ballots at home driving me to really fall within a me keep me motivated to keep involved every time that I step in the game I wanna learn something I want to we like forty myself in the top a retiree in when it when we make love browse trading I always learn something new for him the great day of all all Michael the walls with me they are locked in making me like better yes my calls it will reach me wait wait in a B. grade forever and yeah I do like everything that I do I forty walk on I put in my blood I put my sweater only no and I I wanted to the bank so when it when it could go if you like everything everything that he did I one I do happy you know I'm happy I'm happy my life you some happy my body my finalize it happens well I think that's why I keep the role they keep a keep in a way I am I right now man when I signed in and I'm really surprised by that but how do you keep the main thing the main thing here like for instance when you have success now the city of all these great things to come because the hard work you've done it's easy to get caught up carbon material things kind of in the wrong things but you're still fight or a champion at heart how do you keep the main thing the main thing and not get caught up in all those other shiny things if you know what I mean we know I I did learn to read the life you know I will carry a heavy opted in down in my leg my leg now warming really helped me to put my foot on the ground you know a be ready for use moment that I'm hearing now it I I feel like I learning with the people you know when I when I look people doing something wrong is it out I didn't myself in the I never going to do that you know I love people the database score is the life you know if they learn to read the and if you like that is the big day I have a great base you know my family raised me might might my mom raised me very well I always want to be the best but I I waited for my time I that that begin nobody else like always and never did anything bad for nobody I know the life will give me back you know I'm a good person if you are life is going to give you a good things back lastly many you have a good dog to develop people name Romeo the videos the post right what is Romeo like he's he's great he's my bags for a needle we have such a good time at home I always tell you know like when you know a home like look like I had somebody to because we like to do a lot of daily play outside we go to the dog park we we really have a great time in you know Bob is always good they keep you opening they they they they kind of normal why do you feel it's not I mean if you said today that if you met did you become next to you then thank you I feel like the dog we do give you like a good read she and I always like to have my dogs around she is the double champ UFC women's bantamweight and featherweight champion and it's a big one it's UFC two forty five Saturday night is live from Las Vegas Amanda Nunez and Germaine de Randamie Amanda so nice to meet you and so nice to have you on the show that was a great conversation good luck and we will be watching this weekend nice to have you thank you guys "Back back right here Jim Rome with you on this Wednesday good good show I'm a good time with it talk to boxing we're joined right now by the WBO welterweight champion a three time WBO champion the two time lineal champion thirty five and OO twenty seven by KO Crawford V. mean machine December fourteenth live from Madison Square Garden my guest is Terrence bud Crawford Terence could have you back how are you our good to have you so we're about a month out from that fight versus the me machine in the garden when you think about that fight and what that night might be like what I thought do you have man this the the same that I've been having you know orders and handle and then so when you look at the me machine as the opponent kind of fight or do you see styles make fights when you look at him what do you say the user experience vitamins two time Olympian grow strong durable ever been drop before now comparte relentless modest pressure and also he can box a little bit as well I sat right there is a good scouting report like you're never ever going to overlook an opponent especially guys got those kind of tools and you are facing a guy was a two time Olympian who has never lost as a pro however has he ever been in the ring with an opponent like you does he have any idea what he's got himself into our man pretty sure that he'd done is homework and started work on my show at the same time you know is different once again arranged with with the fire like me or not strongly believe that he's never been around with the fire of my caliber he is the WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford joining us you can not that went over Amir Khan we nearly finished him in the first round and you won by TKO in the sixth but all this talk going into the fight about Khan speed cell please were you with your performance and we dominated that fight what these were you with your performance against Khan in the way you dominated that fight I was okay you know I'm so hello this to point out a fight in the owl wanted to finish the fight you know how I would like to finish the but but he quit and you know the five best out there you know the low blow was the talk of the five more so than you know my performance still after the fight Andre ward who was serving as an analyst declared you to be the best pound for pound fighter in the world until further notice so how much does it mean to have or not level respect from somebody like ward man how important is it to you to be known as the best pound for pound fighter in the world this is this is a good thing coming from fighter of his status in you know considering that he was a powerful power number one fighter and the world at one point in time does this does a lot chess clock is my guest he's got a big fight coming up next month and it's gonna be at Madison Square Garden or I should say the fight against Khan was in Madison Square Garden I was just in New York over the weekend and I was right near the garden Terence there's so much history in that building as a boxer what's it like to fight their and what's it mean to be fighting there once again well you know it is a large Rifai of band that you think about all the great fighters and of for the same arena as you and you know made history at the garden and bear and the problem my career doing the same that those grades have done you know in the prime of their career is is you know a good family you know when your signature moves is that you switch stances and you do it so well the only guy people compare you to it seems is Marvin Hagler so first what's it like when you hear yourself compared to a legend like Hagler well you know I really don't too much time to think about you know them compared us to because I feel like we have two completely different styles but just there put me in the same category as all time great you know there's just let me know where my career is leading after boxer the fact that raise your undefeated your champion and argue with the best pound for pound fighter on the planet to start a car about this place for you in history and all this and I will talk about legacy I know you have to Kerry business next but there are these conversations now on top of that you made no secret of the fact that you want to face Errol Spence junior but you don't need to face him to make the kind of history that I'm talking about is it just a promoter issue or do you feel like he's trying to avoid you I wouldn't say promotional issue because you don't have a promoter and you have the adviser you know I just feel like it all they apply to him not fight yeah at this point of time because the the top right the issue so you know he listened and colors came you got a great team behind up and I don't fault him for listening to the guys that want to see him succeed mall is Crawford verses mean machine December fourteenth live from Madison Square Garden we're talking that fight up tears when we got one ask about because I know that in the past you talk about how much you loved watching and studying guys like Roy Jones junior I've been a long long long long time fight fan I've never seen a fighter like Roy Jones I've never seen a guy who could do the types of things the Roy Jones could do in the ring what was your biggest takeaway from studying Roy you know it does the way he utilizes speed to you know take away any fighters strong points in the ring and combination is a you know which muscles fine you know movement just everything about Roy Jones Terence's seems to me he can go never mind entire rounds without getting hit like mom Amador entire fight without getting hit I never seen anything like it now you're from Omaha what's it mean to you to be from all my heart and be representing that city on the biggest stage army the live me the live been there nobody would ever thought somebody from Omaha Nebraska can make it to the big stage of the sport of boxing you know a lot of people why he's told me I had to move out of the city to become champion to you know nobody never days fighters from Omaha they just do they just all we were all tomato care there you know we couldn't buy box there was never in Omaha Nebraska so you bear from Omaha and showing them that we have a great fighters from from our city of light you know the bigger cities it isn't put a lot of recognition on the sport of boxing and Omar and that's a lot of fighters that you know following my lead and you know personally during the late goals if the record I want to say I love your from Omaha people crack on Omaha have never been to Omaha I have it's a great town with amazing people some the nicest people ever affect your friends say that you are the nicest guy in Omaha so how do you go from being the nicest guy in Omaha to the bat is guy in the ring do you flip a switch or do you not need to be angry to fight armor only to be a hearing is a fight you know nine times out of ten are really not angry I'm just more focused anything I don't I don't ever want to going to fight you know angry because that's where you make the most by mistake I will they are going to fight this more mentally or physically focus banker one last thought because you're from Omaha pusher Huskers fan how you feel about that football team these days our mayor we not doing too well but I feel like you know Scarborough go get it together and you know he's only been there said near now and you know he got a lot to to make a firm from you know the past coaches he is the WBO welterweight champ he's a three time WBO champ the two time lineal champ he is undefeated and he's got a fight coming up on December fourteenth live from Madison Square Garden against me machine Terence but Crawford Terence great have you back when I talk to you thank you thank you Terence blood Crawford representing Oman and you love that a world champion from Omaha they said it's a tough time right now the Huskers but give Scott frost over time it's not original thought however if you're Husker fan you already know this the the scary thing is if Scott frost can't turn it around it ain't getting turned around right my feeling now say this also for the record he's going to get a turn around I'm not guaranteeing you there could ever be the way it was when he played for Tom Osborne when I first went to Omaha and I saw the Peter boys and I saw Jerry Tom H. and we did our toys stop there I'm not saying could ever be like that ever again but he can be a hell of a lot better than it is right now give me one more time I do not expect to see Nebraska ever lose the Purdue or Indiana in both those things happened but give me some more time I when we come back something she thought would never happen me talking soccer on this show now we talking soccer on the show but talking to the U. S. men's national coach it's not the first time it will be the last Greg Burkhalter is joining me next Sunday and on CBS double header you've got jacks in and the ravens welcoming Watson and the Texans Coppola M.
