"I think Tom Dreesen and I, we're kind of neck and neck for throwing out the first pitch and singing the 7th. He came in. When did Tom come in during the summer, right? He came into the cellar. The stories he told. Yeah, the one maybe I've done it maybe, let's say 12, 15 times thrown out the first pitch thing in the 7th. The most memorable time for me is I did it for the game that Kerry wood struck out 20 batters. And that was just the luck of the draw. I happened to be in Chicago to cubs called and said, hey, you want to throw out the first pitch this week? I said, yeah, I'll do it a Thursday game. And it turned out it was a little rainy, not many people there, you know, Houston Astros cubs. Next thing you know, and I threw out the first pitch, Kerry wood signs, dates the ball. Yeah. And then struck out 20 guys. Then strikes out 20 guys. And I don't want to say the 7th inning stretch. I ended it by saying, oh, Carrie, because at that time, you think you had something like 16. Yeah. And then the guys had me stay in the booth, the radio booth. And I called the 7th and 8th inning with them. Get out of here. And then they gave copies that all the season ticket holders the next year all got like CDs of that whole game. And so you can hear me out and I go, hey, dad. That was pretty cool. That's it? That day. There we go. Look at that right there. With Harry Carey still around? At that time. No, Harry wasn't done. I think this was after Harriet passed past. And that's why they were kind of like rotating different kind of celebrities before we do that. You got a good Harry Potter. I did, I did a Harry. One time when I sang the 7th, they did go up their head, I'm gonna boot with Harry for a little bit, but when you do that, when you do those 7th inning stretch, you have to do a Harry Carey, right? You go to L one. Oh, yeah, you do. We still think you're the one. You don't know that. You have a glass of beer next time. Of course, I met him one time. One time. I was a graduate student at northwestern in the medill school of journalism. And I covered, I think it was Jim riggleman or Tom treble horn had just been named the manager. Right. And it was a morning press conference. Like 11 a.m. and I showed up to Wrigley Field, and I was early because I'm an enterprising reporter, a student. I had a press pass, which was awesome. I get to go to Wrigley Field, get out of here. Showed up in the press conference. There was only one guy who was already there, a Bloody Mary in Harry Carrie. Of course. And he was, I think there were a few sheets already in the breakfast of champions of course. I love it. Fantastic. Joe mantegna, I've got a couple more questions for you. Fat Tony. Who is this based on here? What do we got? What do you got? You know, godfather three had just come up. This was, again, this was early 1991. Yeah. When I get the call saying, hey, The Simpsons, which had only been on, this was the third season. Yes. Are interested in you playing this character, fat Tony, like they sent me the script and I think, okay, it's just kind of mob guy from that world, but I'm out playing Joey Zaza at the time. In godfather, I'm thinking, well, I don't want to come in and do that character. I mean, that's kind of weird. It was like, you know, I'll be getting calls from puzo and Coppola saying what are you doing? And I'm thinking, but I like the idea and I love the way the character was written. So I show up and I think, okay, what kind of voice should I give? So I don't sound like Joey Zaza. Then I remember my dear uncle Willie, who'd been my travel partner, you know, since I was in my early 20s because my dad passed away when I was in my early 20s. And some uncle Willie was kind of like my guy. I read up until he passed in his 90s. But uncle Willie talks like this. This is his voice. This is, you know, that was Willie, you know? And so I'm thinking to myself, I'm getting I'm just getting ready to start doing the episode here with the whole cast of The Simpsons and I'm thinking, I'm gonna just do Willie and if anybody's stops me, you know. So I start doing the lines like, yeah, okay, I hope these guys over there and nobody says anything. I'm thinking, all right, so far so good. I'll just do it. And I do the episode and then a few weeks later I get a call, hey, will you be interested in doing that guy again? We kind of like that character. Yeah, sure, I'll do it again. Of course, Willie got a big kick out of it. Next thing I know, like I say, I'm now in year 31, I believe, I guess if you do the math, yeah, there we go. And so Tony and I have a very strong bond here. So you're doing your old uncle Willie. Oh yeah, I still do on Google. In fact, I brought him with me to one of the recording sessions like maybe a year 15 or something happened to be visiting me in Chicago from Chicago. And I brought him to the studios and said, hey, hey everybody, I want you to meet somebody. Yeah, how you doing? How you doing? I Joey's uncle Willie. They're all like, oh my God. Ground zero for fed Tony. There he is. Band tastic. I love it.

"Uniform. He's putting on a tool belt. Playfully fixed the lights in oakland. Like that dude for three weeks stretch was fantastic. I wrote a column about him in the athletic about his fan. Favourite nece and during that time you had folks who were like look this guy. You gotta lock into long-term man. I mean come on. He could play a couple of different positions. He's a good dude in the clubhouse. He wants to be here. Look at this power surge. Well we we all. We all know what happened. We we all. We all know what happened to derek. Dietrich dealt with injuries and from june first to the rest of the year he hit two homers in over one hundred. Sixty plate appearances. He batted one. Seventeen had a cup of coffee with the yankees last year. He is not currently in major league. Baseball thank god. the reds. Didn't overreact to this tiny tiny sample size and go dude terror teacher. It's a franchise cornerstone. I play the same thing to scooter. Jeanette man right scooter. Jeanette had longer than a three and a half weeks stretch of really goodness. He made an all star team. But there was this surge of popularity and surge of interest in scooter jeanette that had a lot to do with his name and the fact that he's of from here and fan friendly guy and he was also a fun story. They got them right before spring training ended. He established himself as a starter. Had to four homer game made an all star team but there was this push before the two thousand nineteen season. What are they going to do. A scooter is he going to get a contract. Scooter even kinda somewhat. Lukewarmly tried to play the media and the public against the reds and it didn't work and then thank god because you know he's not even in the game right now and we think never really lost sight of what he really is which is a bit of utility guy who could hit the ball out of the ballpark and a good dude. But not a cornerstone. Jim riggleman managed this team for a stretch in.

"My name is mojo egger and thrilled. They'd be here. We have our buddy christopher crawford. nbc sports edge. The baseball draft is coming up. And you know we don't talk about it like we do the nfl draft or anything like that but still. It's it's this weekend. And i'm not here late in the week and so we'll do our annual. Mlb draft preview today. Three forty looking forward to that in the meantime five one. Three seven four nine. Fifteen thirty is my phone number along with eight. Six six seven zero two three seven seven six. We'll tell you who's in an out of the red starting lineup coming up in about ten minutes but first eddie you'll start us off your on. Espn fifteen thirty. How are you. I'm great milk back. How did station. It was delightful. Thank you great. I love your show. I love your show. You're a great I wanna talk with the reds You kinda. I kinda agree with everything you said so far and i hope that this front office doesn't lose sight of this team. Fulton thinking this last nine or ten games or plus the bullpens in great but i agree the bullpen. Still not completely. You know. Great enough seeing compete. I think all year i think alongside Needs to happen. I think they need to try to get into the reliever. Maybe somebody his close or anything. I kinda guy and shorts. Not still i think would be nice to have like brewers went out and got and he's been different liquor for them so far. Yeah yeah willy dumbest. I don't believe the baseball people. The baseball operations department will view. What's happened over the last couple of weeks with the bullpen. As something that provides them with a reason to not make the bullpen better. I think you look. I mean dick. Dick williams was running the club when all this was happening but but i go back to nicole. Was there for scooter. Ginette having a couple of really good years and you know there was a lot of talk during that time. God are they going to lock him long term and they didn't and i'm glad they didn't but they didn't fall for an outlier. They didn't fall for the small sample size thing as a reason to go ahead and do something. Big picture. Expensive and drastic derek. Dietrich two years ago boy for a month man he was. There was no better power hitter in baseball. And there were folks at the time wondering guys this guy you lock into well. The answer is no. We saw him turn into a pumpkin. The reds front office didn't fall in love with a small sample size enough to do something big picture and drastic. Jim riggleman had this team playing really well. Late june early july two thousand eighteen and not to say the jim riggleman shouldn't have been a worthy candidate candidate of being the reds manager. But they didn't use what happened in a tiny sample size as a reason to make him the manager long-term so i do believe that nick crawl understands and has seen firsthand..

"Toyota and Valparaiso University and Anthony's foundations got a really cool auction going on to raise money for the foundation, which does so much for people battling cancer, both the person battling and the family affected around them. Anthony joins us now for his weekly hit. All right. Where is I'm not going to labor over last night. How did we get here? Like How did this happen? Yeah. Uh, just Just baseball. It sucks. It's uh You know, we It was like a month ago or last win, but it was no hitter there in L A and First game going out West. Get that win and just It is scared, and it seems like our offense is we're just not scoring more than 23 runs. Four runs, Um And then obviously game in and Milwaukee crushed us, But, um I mean, bitch. Just one of those neighbors just gotta desperately going to win somehow, some way going to be a weird win. But we just got to get one. Okay, so You were a little kid. In 1997. The Cubs started all in six. That's how they started the season and they lost the two really amazing teams. The Marlins who would win the World Series and the Braves, who had Maddux, Glavine, Smaltz and Avery, they come home. I take the keys to the then that the radio station had. I drive it up to Wrigley and I said, I'm going to do the radio show from here and I am going to sleep in the van till the Cubs win a game. They started on 14. I didn't know that. Yes, I I knew I was in trouble. First, I had Mark Grace dropping chicken off to eat. I had Doug Glanville knock on the van door and then the team got back really late at night. And I opened the van door and it's the manager. It's Jim Riggleman. And I'm like, Hey, Riggs. What are you doing it like whatever time it was in the middle of the night. He's like Dude, you're going to be here a while we suck, and it went to 14. And I finally got out of there Now, Glanville, text me I got these people are reaching out. They want me to live in a Tent. In the Wrigleyville area to you win again. Any thoughts on that. I can't believe we're here. I I Obviously, I I can't believe it either of Player. We expect to win every day when every day and every game, but If you if you do do the tangible hot so you're gonna have to bring make sure you just pack appropriately. Um, she stay hydrated, but I mean, it's just Losing is not fun and in this part of the season before the All Star break. Um It's just It's not fun, and we have to find a way to win a game and Obviously easier said than done, but Um I mean, we just have to win. That's it. So do you think I should do this? Because I said to Danny at the break, Okay. If I do something, whatever it is tent or some kind of Goofy thing to help. You know, the cause I want to. I raised a lot of money last time. I'd like to raise even more this time and have it go to your foundation. So do you think I should do this? You have any suggestions? Doesn't have to be in a tent. It could be something else. I mean, honestly, I just I think that It will be a waste of time because we're going to go out tonight and get a W So It's my optimism, but if you were to do something Then I mean Sure. I don't know. There's some nice Wrigleyville bars. I'm sure would host you there for a few days. Yeah, Leader Murphy's and Bernie support he reached out you can live in our place. Um But it's just I mean, and the called the House on the inside. We've been rallying and doing Things needed. Obviously, nothing is working to this point. But, um I mean, W is definitely on the horizon. Okay, so I had people texting or demon or tweet in questions. They got a lot of them. So what is it like in that room Because I likened it to. There's this guillotine hanging over the door where you walk into that beautiful clubhouse and You don't know who it's going to chop first because of being 8.5 back, and we're in the month of July. Is there this feeling in the room of impending doom? Like Anthony. They want to see you upstairs or Anthony Jed's on the phone or Javi or Chris or Craig or whoever it is or it's not even thought about. I mean, it's definitely were We're all humans. And if this is a business and You know, it's definitely There definitely is some sort of elephant in the room on that aspect, but The same time. Being professional. You've come in and you have a job to do, And it's you know, starts come in and out. But This is when you have to stay committed to the process is for the forest and do all the cliches and answered of philosophy to is do all the cliches and keep your head down and just continue to keep working. Um But when you go to a school like this, it doesn't matter. What's going on the outside. It's just it's just about winning as competitors. Uh, You know you. You tell everyone, I'll lose anything. Uh, 10 times in a row and It's just frustrating. You're going to face Aaron Nola tonight. I know area has had his struggles that that loss and I was at the game in Milwaukee last.

"Clubhouse. Gary works with them to walk. Hey, Jed wants to see you. Hey, man, they want to see you upstairs. Hey, man, there's a call for you from the front office. These guys are going to start moving quick. I've got to ask Anthony Rizzo there is there like this like a guillotine hanging over the door, And as you walk it, boom, you're done. I really want to know that and Danny, guess who just texted me. Feel I've seen no Uh, Ryan Sandberg? Nope. Doug Glanville. Was going to guess him next. Doug Glanville just texted me and said, might be time for me to move back into a McDonald's parking lot for people that don't know what that means. So in 1997 Waddell and I are hosting together down the dial at W. G. M. The Cubs started 16. And they play. They played the Marlins. I think who were really good without lighter and all those guys. Kevin Brown, I think was on that team. Wasn't that his name? Kevin Brown. That really sure? Yeah. And then they had to play the Braves with Maddox and Glavine and Smaltz and Avery so they come home their own six They're going to play. The Rockies were just all right. And I said Got a great idea, Tommy. Great idea. We're going to take the keys to the W. G. M Phan van. We're going to drive it up to Wrigley. We're going to park at the McDonald's parking lot across the street. We're going to live in there. Until they win a game. Fully believing. They'll win a game over the Rockies. The Rockies aren't that good and we're at home. All of that. Well, to make a very long story short. Tommy said To me, you're going to do what I'm like. No, we're gonna know I'm not doing that. So I did it with my great intern at the time, Steve Buckman and we went up there. Pull the fan van into the McDonald's parking lot. And fat cap. Had a really good time because they gave me carte blanche. I can just walk behind that. The counter at McDonald's and eat Whatever I wanted. I was cooking people breakfast back there. Will await you. Never. I've heard this story before. But I never heard carte blanche in McDonald's. Yes. So you would just walk back and take big Macs and fries and whatever I want to just help myself like what was the average daily? It wasn't Joey Chestnut like, but it was a lot of your regular competitive food. Either. There would you eat it three times a day. Oh, absolutely. Yeah, no question. I went back there and made pancakes. Eggs. Lunch on me. Let me try a triple cheeseburger. I know you don't have it on the menu, but I'm going to try one. Yeah. Ernie was the owner. Ernie was a great dude, he said. You can park that thing in my parking lot as long as you want. And then I made friends with some comment, Guys. They came by people were coming by. They had to get security because the drunks and the bars would rock the van at night. Yeah. And the vans are rocking. Don't come in. Not exactly. It's their own six. And so the people that apt electronics and blend you Ricky Apted company they sent a T V. How are you going to plug a TV into a van? The guys from comments and we got you. They wired the TV power source into one of the street lights. Yes. So now I got TV. Then. Walter E. Smithe furniture. They brought a Oriental rug. One of those massive rugs. And a recliner. At a table for the T V. So I got the whole setup going out there. So you were living a life of luxury, actually. Was it luxurious, but Well, they went Oh, and 14. Was there for eight. Freaking games. Yes. You go back and look at some of the gut wrenching losses. And then a rain out in New York. I think it was So Doug Glanville just texted me said Dude might be time for you to move back into the McDonald's parking lot. Now The McDonald's isn't there anymore because they built the hotel, but we could figure something out. So what do you want to do? Let's do something. Why don't you pitch a tent in like one of the beer gardens at Bernie's? Bernie's is right across the street. Of course, you mean literally or both. Why don't you pitch a tent in the beer garden at Bernie's and live there, do the show from there until they went again. They're going to win in the next week. I mean, like, how long do you think you'll really be out there? Or you could grow your hair back until they went again. Don't change your clothes until they went again. Which is hard for you because it's like three or four wardrobe changes a day. Okay, Mandy, um I don't know. There's got to be something I can do. I mean, I was there for the 14 start that Just torpedo the 97 season. I mean, it was literally Oh, and 14. So do I recreate this What do you think? Get Mike Thomas on the phone and find out Can I broadcast from somewhere in Wrigleyville with today's technology? And live up at the ballpark. I think you just give up Twitter until the coast win again. Bingo. That's it. What do you know? Chance you lived in a van for eight days. Now you won't give up Twitter until the Cubs win again. No. No, no. Why not cash cause I got to do my recaps, No. Sources close to me say when you were living in the van, you went up to a rooftop to take showers. That's correct. So you were basically just like living the life. Well, let's not act like that was tough for you. And I'm sleeping on the killer of avail. All fat cap. So you admitted back then you didn't care what you ate fat cap Had you were in have access to any McDonald's. You want every day where you want it right? Three meals a day in a van. No doubt you snuck a Sunday every once in a while TV dessert. Shower Mcflurry. People are stopping by to see you like we all know you, cap you like the attention like people thinking that this is a cool thing. I raised $25,000 for needy kids. Fun. Yeah, like list. Let's not act like it was tough. It wasn't easy, Danny. Okay? It was not easy. And then I knew I wasn't you at any point did at any point Did you contemplate calling it quits? No. So it wasn't that hard. It's true story. It's like the team got back in town. I think it was that they were leaving town who is the middle of the freaking night? Open up the door. That's Jim Riggleman. Jim Riggleman, the manager. And I'm like, Hey, Riggs. What's up? I don't know how long you're going to be out here because we suck. I'm like. Oh, God. Help the vote of confidence, boys. Yep. Doug Glanville came by. He's playing on the team. Yeah, it was bad man. Regulars bad. It's like I brought you a pillow and blanket because you may be here a while. That might be what I asked Rizzo give up Twitter until the Cubs win again. Know? What do you mean? No, Come on. It's not. You have no faith that the Cubs can win a game. It's not that I enjoy being on Twitter. Bernie's just reached out to me. The beer gardens. All yours say the word. No, they didn't. Yeah, they did. I got a guy. Johnny Paddock. He's there. He's ready. The beer gardens yours. Okay. Where am I sleeping in the beer in the tent. I'm going to sleep in the tent this weekend in a tent this weekend with my kids in the backyard. Why.

"Used to wear when he pitched for the net, knocking after 41 patch on his sleeve right there. Good job birth. You just can't just keep it moving. Don't worry about it. Exactly. I'm not getting involved. That guy's got a do rag on his head. I don't know about that. I'll never forget to the pregame show, and Harry made a comment about Hideo Nomo's Jim Riggleman. Response was I ain't touching that, Harry. Yeah, that's a good decision. Eggs. Usually the case that's a good decision. No, I'm concerned. Listen cap. Under this cool exterior. That you see next to you. Next to the school. White Sox fan is next to you. Will tell you that on the inside. I've got butterflies. They've got some issues. I am concerned. Because I just want Rick Hahn was. I don't Here's the thing. Rick Hahn and Jeri Ryan Storify better on the same page. I know Jerry. He wanted Tony LaRussa to be here because he thought they were close. If I'll put it this way. If Jerry didn't think that the stocks were close, we wouldn't see T L R as the manager. Tell just just kicking Rick career. Just keep going, You know, just thinking that Rika Regnery, you can get them to the next level. But Jerry saw something in this team that says, Yeah, this is the time we can do this. Let's have a a guy that is a tenured professor, a Hall of Fame manager That can kind of pushed him over the top. Right. But you can't push anything over the top. If you don't have the horses if you're still rolling Mercedes out there. That means that that's a problem. That's when you want a law. You want human as you want that spark that sparks. Not there for this team to lose against the Mariners and and Mariners are decent team as we've seen, not a great team. That's a that's a concern. So 3123323776 is there clear cut favorite in baseball this year If there's not Despite the injuries to the white socks go all in all in There you go. That's what the price is to get a good player. "Now your socks van. I am indeed we weren't here yesterday. Where you just devastated by the news? Well, the news did not come out till after the show. Yeah, that was no. After that injury when you saw it, You knew that was Felicity accent. Ask It's a bummer, but I think what he hit on the key point for me, which is the sack Starting rotation is still right now the best in the American League. They have five guys and then you could actually factor in 1/6. Who certain people are smitten about on this radio station who'd like to have mind their team. I love you. They have. Listen. It's always above all else. Danny, Danny, I'm dollars. 21 have Sylvie without dialogue, knowledge. I love them out out of habit. His man bun is so sexy, But anyway, this is anything coming out of the patent. Sylvia's a man bun, not him going. It's always about pitching. It is always about pitching. It sucks to lose a Gold Glove center fielder. There's no doubt about who has the potential to hit 30 35 home runs. Yes, it does suck. That's undeniable, however. They still have the best pitching in the American League top to bottom, In my opinion, the rotations Great. The bullpen, which which has been great this year, has the possibility to be amongst the best in baseball. So, Yeah, it's going to sting. It's gonna be harder. But when the White Sox made their run in 2005 Strength was the pitching, no doubt and it's still the pitching on this team so they can certainly win it. And they're in position at 15 and 11. Get you a bat right now. I don't need a bat. I don't need a bad right now. Honey, I got a bad for you. It will cost you nothing but money. He is floating out there in the ether, Chili Davis. Hey, Chili Davis got fired again last night. It's unbelievable. Freaking millennials in New York. No, I don't want to deal with them either. It's unbelievable. Mother just can't keep a job keeping jobs. That's a shame, man. It's a shame, but I'm optimistic cap because of the positives on this baseball team Now. Eventually, the Sox will probably have to make a deal for sure. But for right now, My focus is on Tony. By the way, the stocks will take on the red. That's a five o'clock pre game with me right here in the home of the White Sox, ESPN 1000 Excuse me? Yes. As I said, whether white slacks Yes. Wow. You know, Jerry, but he will give you the sacks lineup and you'll hear from Tony LaRussa coming up next, right? The aforementioned Tony LaRussa. My God find manager Sandra used to say. Fine manager of Coke comes down Baylor, and you wouldn't call him fine. If the Cubs were losing. No, he would always say, find of the Cubs of winning. Correct. We talked to the fine manager of Coke comes down Baylor. Coming up next on WGN on the campus now and the Cubs network 321 dot Baylor with. So you're mentioning sandal doing that? Because he did the manager show after Harry died. Harry did it before that. That was an experience in and of itself, but Santa comes up. Sultan Sweat Hands me the recorder. Here's the interview for your pre game show. Ready. There's nothing here. What do you mean? I had the mic right up to him to Riggleman, Ronnie. The tape is blank in here. Oh, God. Did you know you're supposed to turn it on here? I thought it was always on. Always on it was regular. The mini death set, like right, just rolling. I'm on a 12 45 for 1 20 game at 12 25. I go racing back down the clubhouse is closed. Here comes Gary start the club who's still there opens it. What's up? Um Santa forgot to turn for quarter on. I have to record the Riggleman thing. It's sponsored by Chevy. What? Hang on Santer didn't turn on the recorder captured. Can you redo the video? The interview? Yeah. Bring him in. He bury sand on the interview, hilarious and then we get it. That's how good a guy Jim Riggleman, of course, how many how many coaches and managers 35 40 minutes whether taking the field is going to redo the interview, Riggleman was the best the best. Yeah. So I told you the Riggleman story before, but we gotta talk to Sox fans. Let's go to the phones. Uh, How about William in Lansing? William? What's up, Sparky? A cannon. Can't your big friend of show Thanks for taking my call sheet. You Thanks for making you come now. You wanna speaker? Are you leaning on your phone? I think he's using guard finds phone guys. Oh, no other guys so trees I've just been on loan or something. But anyway, General, I've got to go with you on the socks, man. I mean, they've got so much talent on this team. You know, you got a batting champion Tim Anderson. You know, those in the Brady said. I get the back home, but I'm gonna pose the question. You guys. Appreciate you. You mentioned somebody from the pirates, right? And then she called the pirates because they're not going anywhere. All the tigers. Yeah. I said what? The Tigers are going to deal with you in the division, but I'm looking at the standings. Miami's already five games under 500. You've got the Cubs four games under 500. The Pirates suck their 12 and 15. They've been a little better, and people thought that they're not going anywhere on a second there by the Pirates power. Hold on their head of the cup. Yeah. Maybe Carl Everett still out there playing in a men's league. I got a game tonight. You know, I've always loved you, Carl Everett. That's it. Texas They stink. Detroit in the division. Awful Baltimore. Not real good, Like there's a handful of teams out there plus the cub, you're right. It's May, though, it's may 4th May the force be with you boys, but also with you, but But if they're in a game and a half out, no need to panic, That's right. It's that it's may And and Danny. "jim riggleman" Discussed on Bloomberg Radio New York
"This is a Bloomberg business Flash. Let's begin with the context because it was on Friday here in the US that we had record highs for the US equity market after President elect Biden said he's putting together a multi trillion dollar relief package. This will include 100 Million vaccine shots to be administered within the 1st 100 days of the Biden presidency. It it really seems clear if you step back and look at some of the data points of the American economy. Does need help. I mean, look at the nonfarm payrolls numbers that we had for the month of December. We were down that month last month for the first time since April. Even though we had a rally as I mentioned in the equity markets with records for the Dow, the S and P and the NASDAQ long term interest rates actually push higher with the 10 year Treasury last quoted at 1.11% will have no trading in US sovereign debt until the London session given a market holiday. In Japan Marriott International will suspend donations to Republican senators who voted against certified certifying President elect Biden. That's after considering the destructive events of the capital last week. Blue Cross Blue Shield Association is taking a similar step, and at the same time, Citigroup and J. P. Morgan or planning Paws all political contributions. Interesting that the U. S Treasury list of blacklisted Chinese companies doesn't include Ali Baba or 10 Cent. Look for those stocks to be heavily traded in Hong Kong today, right now in Sydney ASX 200 down 1/10 of 1%. News is next. Ed Baxter's covering it all from the Bloomberg 9 16 years room in San Francisco at All right. Thank you. Douglas leadership in the U. S. Suggestions that may vote to impeach this week with the article's not presented to the Senate well into our After Joe Biden's 1st 100 days. U. S. Investigators say they're making arrests in the siege on the Capitol but have not announced any official firm numbers. China has administered more than nine million covert 19 vaccines their charges from a former U. S. A. U S FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, that 40 million doses are just sitting on the shelf. UK says it's Vaccine plan is on course. A surge hits Hospitals, air rescue teams closing in on the black box of the airliner that went down in the Java Sea in San Francisco. I met Baxter. This is Bloomberg. Rish. All right, let's get back to our guest for this half. I said Jim Riggleman, vice chairman of 18, 79 advises discussing the latest on the market. Jim. Well, Brandon, I've been trying to figure out why you would be calling yourselves 18 79 advisers Way had to look back and I had a look at the Anglo Zulu war of Rule and rocks Drift. It couldn't be that I thought to myself the fact that the United States Geological Survey was also founded, then Then I thought, Well, Perhaps it was Thomas Edison, who applied for the Peyton off the in his invention. The incandescent light bulb and the like. Bubbles, of course, always represents an idea on my right, always Brian and me myself and Brian, right? I should say. No, it's it's It's my my grandfather inherited from his mentor whose dad started the business in Brussels in 18 79, Okay? Was glad it wasn't the year you were born. But that's a bad joke. But also the Constitution of California was ratified. So that resonates with me. All right now back to business. Uh, this coming year this year that we're in. We're expecting reflation in a big way. Where does Reflation cross over into inflation? I don't think it does. It would think we have. I don't think we have the debt levels to supporting. I don't think that we have the demographics to support it. I do think we have the potential growth to support it. But I also trust in our room in elected legislature and insensitive office to tax the living's online of growth enough to keep Is there a chance Donald keep inflation from growing up. So tell us that Jim, you know this steeping of the yield curve which continues here and that we've seen way how yields have been heading in this upper trajectory. What's that all about? Well, I'm saying it to a large extent. It's certainly an expectation that will see plenty of spending additional stimulus but but also funny was also programs that I got riding and a general crack controlled legislative branch, you know, certainly has to offer. Way, talked earlier about how you know US markets closed. The whole time client kicked off on the wrong foot. The interesting thing about last week is with US markets. We're in the lowest style of performance, I think across across the world, certainly seeing markets worldwide, really responding more so even challenged to a You to providing President sing and I think a lot of that is some level of hope that things are returning to normal that every trade war doesn't have to be. Somebody wins and somebody loses. But, uh, you know that that we get back to a more normal set of trade relations and maybe a little bit more predictability. Well on the political front is also that also that a lot of spending would be coming and money's fungible so that could benefit countries out here on But, you know, generally speaking with that kind of spending, the dollar would weaken. The only thing only thing is the dollar actually strengthen the past couple of days. What's that about? And will it continue? Well, I kind of been wondering about that myself and into some extent, you wonder, is it just a little bit of a runaway pricing we're gonna have if we're gonna have example intention is it told her On. Totally right, you know, has certainly shown some upward direction. Obviously higher rates in the U. S, um Could I could simply put money is a money money. This is a commodity like anything else, and they're getting a better deal on on dollar denominated assets..
