Congress sends landmark gun violence compromise to Biden

"Congress has approved its most wide ranging gun violence Bill in decades It's a compromise that shows both progress and dealing with mass shootings and the partisan divide over gun rights A day after Senate approval the House passed the measure on a mostly party line vote with Democrats like Jim mcgovern saying the nation is tired of gun violence The time has come for action While Michelle fischbach and other Republicans say the bill's intent is clear An effort to chip away at the Second Amendment rights of law abiding citizen The bill does not have tough restrictions Democrats wanted like an assault weapons ban and much of its $13 billion will go towards schools and for boosting mental health programs

"I hear them like we just put the bring the Keystone pipeline back online Thank you By the way it was never built And it was years away from bringing annual to the United States foreign oil by the way Canada is another country And even if it were built we're told it may well prices by maybe one Senate gallon And lock us into the same dependence on fossil fuels They've got us into this mess to begin with Thank you That's what I was just saying Representative Jim mcgovern Pardon me Yes I mean we have been arguing for years with my friends Let's make the transition away from fossil fuels to greener cleaner energy So every time there is a world crisis we're not having this discussion Thank you But instead they continue to be in the pockets of the oil companies Follow the money Follow the money Look where the oil companies are putting their money Okay thank you Jim mcgovern Yes Okay I am not taking crazy pills Also John bracy on Twitter tweeted I think I'm having a full on psychological break as a result of relentless gaslighting We're still in a pandemic right Am I seriously the only person who thinks we are Can I just I told you yesterday Two anecdotal stories because I feel like I get shame for being overly cautious and you're not going anywhere and blah blah blah My neighbor remember who just did all our repairs Yeah Just got COVID for the second time Triple Baxter Really had in bad shape I mean hang on one more Let me think Oh my friend bob Remember I told you yesterday my hiking for bob he and his wife triple back just got it She was at a business meeting where everybody was vax 6 people from that meeting now have COVID and again kicking their ass And so I'm not taking crazy pills No this is my point And here's why I left this one for right before our guest Ellie missed all tweeted just to recap We're going masks off in schools Then kids are gonna go away for spring break This will lead to a spike in COVID cases as it has in all caps The last two years then kids will come back to maskless school to spread it to the families who were safe on break Thank you Ellie If only somebody knew something about schools ouch Carl Carl fish Let's talk to our fancy fairfax county school board friendship Oh hi Carl frisch hi You're welcome Good morning I'm still waiting on my check by the way for that fourth one I'm fundraising for To have my own jet Okay first of all let's just say gosh I sure am glad that the jet malfunction that caused Donald Trump's plane to land emergency land is that he's okay Anyway yes he's using it as another opportunity to grift Carl in case people hadn't heard it yet Isn't that amazing I think she's social I think that Griff is already on his last legs It seems like So he needs a new grip So yeah he had to make an emergency landing So now he's begging for money to fix his plane from his stupid followers that will be for a new plane I wouldn't put it past him to have made up this emergency landing to grip people to fix his plane would you No And it feels a lot like the prosperity gospel preachers who tell you if you send their money Your money you'll be successful in the May turn around and use it on the jets God will only be happy if Joel osteen has several jets at his disposal You can't use them two days that are roasted No problem Exactly In case you hadn't heard Trump was falling from New Orleans to Palm Beach when he was forced to make an emergency landing Oh and that's weird It was like the email was all ready to go Yeah Do you remember Trump force one before becoming the greatest president of all time I traveled the country in my play known as Trump force one I have a very important update on my plane but I need to trust that you won't share it with anyone Oh except other people that got this same fundraising email My team is building a brand new Trump force one The work on the plane's been under wraps He claims the media doesn't know about it except of course it's in his fundraising email Well and who is his team that's building this plane Oh I'm really worried it's just Donald Donald junior and Ivanka It is just extraordinary Even the truckers are like going hey where is this money going Convoy Is this Griff just going to be endless I mean the truckers are going where did all the money go Welcome we're just sitting here in a parking lot Maryland Yes it will continue to pad his pocket and he's using it just like he used the nonprofit before he became president You know he'd have people write checks to the nonprofit and then all of a sudden they'd be using that to spend money on personal things that end up in his office or in his different properties So when that got shut down for fraud you know I think they found oh nobody's going to hold us accountable for our campaign finance spending or raising Yeah Well speaking of accountable were you heartened by Merrick Garland What he said I am I'm just generally happy clappy Merrick Garland pledged the DoJ would not shy away from January 6th evidence that implicates Donald Trump or his inner circle I mean I have to say Carl I.

Voters weigh in on Marjorie Taylor Greene as House votes to oust her from committees

"On Capitol Hill were congressional Democrats taking the rare step of removing a member from the committee's with a handful of Republican votes. Georgia Congressman Marjorie Taylor Greene was stripped of her to committee assignments. Education and budget. The final vote tonight was to 30 to 1 99, with 11 Republicans siding with the Democratic majority. Earlier today, the Georgia lawmakers speaking on the House floor for about 10 Minutes. In her speech, she said that she quote stopped believing in Q and on some time in 2018 after finding misinformation, lies and things that were not true. She also walked back some previous comments suggesting that school shootings like the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary and the 20 18 Parkland shooting were staged. She also attracted the past claim, suggesting that the 9 11 terror attacks may not have occurred more from the House floor with representative Marjorie Taylor Greene earlier today, So when we elected President Trump and then I started seeing things in the news that didn't make sense to me like Russian collusion. Which are conspiracy theories also and have been proven. So these things bothered me deeply, and I realized just watching CNN or Fox News. I may not find the truth. And so what I did is I started looking up things on the Internet, asking questions like most people do everyday use Google And I stumbled across something. And this is that the end of 2017 called Q and on. Well, these posts were mainly about this Russian collusion, information. Ah, lot of it was some of what I would see on the news that night, and I got very interested in it. So I posted about it on Facebook or read about it. I talked about it. I asked questions about it. And then more information came from it. But you see, here's the problem throughout 2018 because I was upset about things and didn't trust The government really, because the people here weren't doing the things that I thought they should be doing for us. The things that I just told you I cared about and I want, you know, a lot of Americans don't trust our government, and that's sad. The problem with that is so as I was allowed to believe things that weren't true, and I would ask questions questions about them and talk about them. And that is absolutely what I regret because if it weren't for the face Post and comments that I liked in 2018. I wouldn't be standing here today and you couldn't point a finger and accuse me of anything wrong because I've lived a very good life that I'm proud of. My family's proud of my husband's proud of my Children are proud of, and that's what my district elected me for. Those comments from freshman representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia responding here is Democratic Congressman Jim McGovern in Massachusetts. Is also the chair of the House Rules Committee, explaining why Democrats decided to proceed with today's four vote that would strip the representative from her two key committee assignments. The party of Lincoln is becoming the party of violent conspiracy theories, and apparently, the leaders of the Republican Party in the House today are not going to do a damn thing about it. Now. I never thought I would say this Madam speaker, but I agree with Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader this week. Called Congress one greens embrace of conspiracy theories, and I quote a cancer for the Republican Party and quote I would take it a step further. I think giving cars when green, a megaphone on his standing committee would be a cancer on this entire Congress. None of us get to decide who the voters sent to Congress but his members of this body it is our job to set the standard for the conduct of those who serve here, especially when They cross the line into violence. The Republican talking point now seems to be. I condemn Congresswoman Green's words. But Madam speaker, her words air indefensible period and we must act not because it helps us or hurts them, but because it is the right thing to do for this institution and for America, and that from Congressman Jim McGovern from today. His floor debate, at one point of the representative before elected to Congress referred to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, saying that she should take quote a bullet to the head at her weekly news conference, this from the House speaker, I remained profoundly concerned about House Republicans leadership acceptance of extreme conspiracy theorist. Particularly to service their eagerness to reward a fool, a non adherent, a 9 11 truther, ah harasser of child survivors of school shootings and a value to give them valued committee positions, including who could imagine they would put such a person on the Education Committee today, and the House will vote to remove represent green from her seat on education and labor and the budget committees. That's just so unfortunate you would I think that the Republican leadership in the Congress would have some sense of responsibility to this institution, as they did when they did not see represented King of Iowa or two years ago for some reason. E have chosen not to go down that path. Even though we gave Mr Hoyer gave the leader McCarthy sufficient notice that this was ah, path. We would follow that early today from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. It was last night in

That'd be with you so much for us to talk about. I do just wanna start by getting your reactions to the fact that it appears marty. Walsh had a smooth confirmation hearing today. Obviously there's more time before the vote but what would his confirmation labor secretary mean for us here in the commonwealth. Do you think that he received a warm reception in the united states. Senate debt you deserve still. He's been an excellent mayor and he'll be excellent in the secretary of labor way. What it means rance's that working people will have a strong voice in washington. I mean he is a a an ally of of labor. He ll fight to make sure that people earn a living wage He understands the importance of workers have access to healthcare into pension. "After that capital riot metal detectors were put into place outside of the House chamber, and now lawmakers are going to face fines if they refused to go through that new security. The House voted to find lawmakers $5000 for a first offense and $10,000 for each a fence after that. Democratic congressman Jim McGovern. The rules are the rules. But apparently some of my friends on the other side think differently. Summer acting as though by being elected to Congress. They have been anointed to some sort of special club one that gets to pick and choose what rules to follow. Republican Congressman Tom Cole of Oklahoma also spoke. "Is laid upon the table. President Trump has been impeached a second time over his involvement in last week's shocking riot, which has sense led to a massive security build up in DC 10. Republicans joined with Democrats to approve the article of impeachment. Incitement of insurrection and emotions are still raw. A week after the attack here at the Capitol. Are you on the side of chaos in the mob? On the side of constitutional democracy and our freedom. It's that simple. Virginia Congressman Gerry Connolly. He and other Democrats say President Trump had to be held accountable for his supporters who broke into the capital House Rules Committee chair Jim McGovern. People died. Everybody should be outraged whether you're a Democrat, a Republican. If this is not an impeachable offense, I don't know what the hell is. "I think it helps. I think I think the historical amnesia is a problem, and I think that was You know what sort of impressed itself on me? The more I started to learn more about all Salvador. The reason that I wanted to write the book is you can kind of see. I think you know, taking part in issues like this and learning more and having a more sophisticated understanding of the History. It feeds into this region, I think is really important in this so often lost and you can kind of see A full cycle in this history of how the U. S. Creates the seeds of some of these on problem these problems and then in walks away, I talked to a Look, I talked to a member of Congress. Jim McGovern from Massachusetts, who is in all Salvador during the war and was trying to was really instrumental and do the fact finding the investigative work about the murder of these Jesuit priests. It sort of turned the tide of American public support away from the war. And he said, You know, it's a maddening experience to be You caught in the cycle for 30 years where I'm a member of Congress and I can't get anyone to talk about this. I can't get anyone to listen to me. And all of the media messaging about this is that these are all bad actors coming here. Instead of women and Children who have suffered egregious violence and violence that you that we've had a hand in You know, I think that extends from you know, back in the war and the consequences that war I think it goes through immigration policy, And I think it goes to the partnerships that we've had with crap governments from the left and the right. Who are part of the problem now, and that makes this part of the problem. No, too. We're going to end on that note. Thank you so much. I'm asking you to join me in thanking bill for sharing his reporting. A quick update since we originally recorded this programme. David Mundia Paez, a former defense minister, was arrested in July as he tried to flee the country. "This's America changed forever from the CBS Audio Network. I'm Gil Gross. The United States is deep in a debate about police procedures and reforms. It's not a new debate, but it's one of the many sorts of debates and flare up after incidents and Then recede again after a few weeks, But not this time combination of videos and police chiefs and mayors, frustrated by efforts at reform in the past, seemed to have left the country in a mood to do something. This week, the House passed a police reform bill headed to an uncertain fate in the Senate. Congressman Jim McGovern is a Democrat and chairman of the House Rules Committee. Jim Good to have you with us. How are you? I'm doing fine. Happy to be with you before we get to the Justice and policing act and some of the things that are being considered in Congress. What do you think has changed Because we've had incidents like the incidents in the news before. We've had this conversation before, But it seems the public mood is very different. You're right. I mean, this is Not unique. Unfortunately, we've seen these kinds of murders happen Time and time again. You know, one of the things that I think made a difference here is that young teenage girl videotaped all of this for the whole world. To see anybody who watched that video had to be horrified. And as a result, I think you've seen unprecedented outrage at these protests have seen incredible diversity and the pressure is built on Congress to do something, and I think you know we have this moment, which seems a little bit different than in the past. Where we're actually gonna do something. I mean, what usually happens after these tragedies is that members of Congress issued a press release is saying or this is terrible, and we have to do it. Do something about systemic racism in this country, and then we move on to the next subject. But this is different than the Congressional Black Caucus, led by Jimmy Karen Bass is done an incredible job of putting together the George Boy Justice of policing after 2020 which I think takes a step step in the right direction. But you know what? The American people are waking up to injustice, and I don't know all the factors to make this moment Attorney point But thank God it is attorney. You're one of the many co sponsors of the Justice and Policing act. Can you explain to us what's in it, and then we can go through some of these points, one by one. I mean, there's a lot of different things in it. I mean, there's efforts to end racial religious profile. Found a better choke holds and no knock warrants. Limit limiting military equipment. Way have a program that where the Pentagon can provide equipment to our local police departments, and we've seen everything from tanks to grenade launchers being provided the local police departments and You know our citizens They're not enemy combatants on you shouldn't treat them as such. There's an effort to to deal with qualified immunity. No police accountable in court when they violate people's civil rights, a never to investigate police misconduct, more transparency by collecting data on police misconduct and use of force. I mean, there's a lot of other things in there, and this is not everything that needs to be addressed, but it is a step in the right direction, and I think it's a meaningful step in the right direction. Let's go through some of those things. But first, you know the general question that people are wondering about. We're talking about federal legislation. Things like banning choke holds at the federal level, but Many of these things we're going to be controlled by laws at the state level and how much control does the federal government have over that? Well, I mean, the federal government can't provide assistance in aid and incentives for local Jurisdictions to comply. I mean is, you know such a thing as carrots and sticks, But I think what's what's what was happening at the local level. I can't even talk about it in my own district is that there's a growing awareness that a lot of these issues are really local issues that need to be addressed by the federal government could play a powerful role in helping create a climate and providing the incentives help make it more likely that our local jurisdictions will do the right thing. You mentioned the program from the Pentagon, where Surplus weaponry could be bought by police department. These are mainly weapons that were made meant those military weapons. How did this seemingly get out of hand at the point where local police departments are that don't even have enough servers say to record all of the video that may be record by police camps. How did this get to the point that these military grade weapons were being used? I think the initial impetus for this came after things like 9 11 where people were afraid local police forces would be facing terrorism on a level that they hadn't seen before. But This seems to have grown to an extent and in areas where It was really not considered when this program started. We'll look like many ideas, well intentioned, you know, he got out of control. I mean, you know, President Obama try toe for this, But, you know, all police departments are not all the same. But there were some that you know when they see new equipment, even if it's you know, weapons, even its equipment. Useful war. I mean, you know they apply for they try to get it. On again. We have departments that have amassed military equipment That really is equipment that is meant for fighting wars and, you know, dealing with enemy combatants not dealing with with our citizens. Policing shouldn't be. You know a few things the same way we view the role of our military. And unfortunately, some jurisdictions that has that has been the case. You mentioned transparency and the idea of a national police misconduct registry. I think this is something came as a surprise to a lot of people that if I'm a police department in one city, and somebody applies to Be a police officer. Very often. I have no way to find out if they have been accused of misconduct. In another police department somewhere because thes records were not public, even to them correct. It's ridiculous. I think it came as a surprise to a lot of people, but that's been one of the problems. I mean, you had some bad police officers that have moved from one department to another department to another department who have terrific records. Now, I don't know whether You know those who hired them? We're aware of some of their records. But the bottom line is, my guess is that in many cases they didn't and they just brought their bad behavior from one department to another. And look, I think it's report for the public to know whether or not there are police officers..

"Madam speaker on Wednesday afternoon the rules committee marked up in favor really reported house resolution six sixty directing certain committees to continue their ongoing investigations as part of the existing house of representatives enquiring into whether sufficient grounds exist for the house of representatives to exercise its constitutional power to impeach Donald John trump president of the United States of America speaker this is a sad day for our country over two hundred and thirty years ago when the founders of our country wrote the constitution they entrusted us with the gift of self government but they knew the persistence of this gift was not a short it may be taken for granted today but having your shaken up a tyrant the founders knew better I understood that the very foundations of our country our depended on safeguarding against one branch of government encroaching on the others that's what the idea of checks and balances is all about within that system the framers gave only this Congress the power if need be to impeach a president over possible wrongdoing this fact that no one is above the law is what separates this country from so many others because of its seriousness the impeachment process has been really use for presidents for just the fourth time in our nation's history Congress is now investigating whether to impeach a president of the United States our authority to do so under article two section for the constitution of the United States and the rules of the house of representatives is clear and the courts have recently agreed for all the disagreements I have with president trump for all his policies his tweets and his rhetoric that I deeply disagree with I never wanted our country to reach this point I do not take any pleasure in the need for this resolution we are not here in some partisan exercise we are here because the facts compel us to be here there are very serious evidence that president trump may have violated the constitution this is about protecting our national security and safeguarding our elections that's why the intelligence committee has been gathering evidence and hearing testimony like any investigation reasonable confidentiality has been paramount witness you should not be able to coordinate testimony in advance the truth must be allowed to prevail Republicans have been a part of every single proceeding conducted so far Republicans conducting these depositions along with your staff have had an opportunity to question each and every witness now ma'am speaker we are entering the public facing phase of this process and I commend the investigative committees and their staffs for the professional manner which they've conducted themselves I'd also like to commend the courageous public servants that have bravely come forward to tell the truth without their coverage this possible wrongdoing would never have seen the light of day the public should not be left in the dark they should see the facts about the president's conduct first hand that's why I introduce this resolution it is establishes the next steps of this requiring including establishing the procedure for public facing hearings conducted by the intelligence committee and the process for transferring evidence to the Judiciary Committee it's about transparency and it's about due process for the present some on the other side will never be satisfied with any process that it covers the true to what the president did madam speaker it none of us knows whether or not president trump will be impeached or convicted only the facts and how we respond to them will dictate the outcome but I truly believe that a hundred years from now historians will look back at this moment in judge us by the decisions we make here today this moment calls for more than politics it calls for people concerned not about the reactions of partisans today but of the consequences of inaction decades from now if we don't hold this president accountable we could be feeding your ability to hold any president accountable and at the end of the day this rich resolution isn't about Donald Trump it isn't about any of us it's about our constitution it's about our country and so I urge my colleagues to do not just think about the political pressures of the moment these will pass please consider the heavy responsibility you have today to this institution the constitution and to our country I reserve the balance of my time German house rules committee chair Jim McGovern rice madam speaker I want to thank the gentleman from Massachusetts Mister governed for yielding me the customary thirty minutes and I yield myself such time as I may consume Germans recognized Tom call is the ranking Republican on the rules committee Elizabeth which you have a last night hearing before I begin madam speaker I would ask the chairman if he would withdraw the resolution at which time I will ask unanimous consent that the house immediately proceed to the consideration of HR six six eight instead which provides for consideration of house resolution six sixty under a rule madam speaker this would in no way prevent the consideration of the resolution before us today however would provide us with an opportunity for all members to participate in the process my proposed rule would provide for four hours of general debate on HR I six six zero allow for amendments under an open process and provide for a motion to recommit on an issue as important as this madam speaker one hour of debate on a resolution written in the dark of night and marked up in a process where no Republican amendments were accepted is simply insufficient additionally would allow all members to offer amendments to improve the process to get to the truth which I'm sure is the goal of all my colleagues on both sides of the aisle with that I would ask the chairman to accept my request when you I certainly of my friend I can recognize no I do not thank you madam speaker then I would ask unanimous consent to debate time on the house resolution six fifty be expanded to four hours so every member could purchase of a gentleman from Massachusetts has yielded all time for debate only the gentleman from Massachusetts would have to heal for this request thank you very much madam speaker in that case I want to act begin by echoing my friends words is a sad day for all of us for me personally I'm sure for all of my colleagues on the rules committee and for the institution as a whole today's resolution set forth a process for impeaching the president of the United States it's not a fair process it's not an open process it's not a transparent process but instead is limited and a close process with a pre ordained outcome impeachment of the president is one of the most consequential acts that the house of representatives I can do and it should only be done after the fullest consideration and yet over the last month without a vote and with only the speaker say so committees having been engaged in a closed impeachment inquiry on what amounts to nothing more than a partisan fishing expedition at least today the majority's admitting what we know and have known all along that the house was not following an appropriate process for impeachment I do not think the process were setting for in this resolution is a fair one either that's not fair to the president of the United States it's not fair to the house of representatives and it's not fair to the American people the process laid out in the resolution before us is different from the process used for both president Nixon in nineteen seventy four and president Clinton in nineteen ninety eight today's resolution provides fewer process protections and fewer protection for minority rights then what we've seen in previous impeachment efforts at our mark up yesterday Republicans tried to change that we tried to offer constructive amendments that made the process more fair it would give rights to the minority that would give rights to the accused and that would ensure due process for everyone Republicans offered seventeen amendments and not one not one madam speaker was accepted not one we offered amendments that would align the subpoena powers in this resolution with the subpoena powers used for president Clinton unlike then as the Clinton inquire re today's resolution does not provide for co equal subpoenas not power instead of grants the minority the right to subpoena witnesses a material only with the concurrence of the chair with no such limitation on the rights of the chair to issue subpoenas we offer the membership would change that but the majority rejected both of them and each of them in turn we offered an amendment that would allow all members the right to fully access committee records this is common sense for doing something as serious as impeaching the president the member should have the right to see what records the committee produced so that they will know what they're voting on yet the majority rejected that we offer an amendment that would require the chairman of the rules committee to promulgate procedures to allow for the participation of the president and his counsel in proceedings of the intelligence committee the oversight committee the foreign affairs committee this right was granted to president Clinton in nineteen ninety eight yeah it's not present here and the majority again rejected the amendment I think the difference is clear today's resolution fails to give the minority the same rights as were present during the Clinton impeachment and it fails to offer the same due process protections they were given the presidents Nixon and Clinton and in the latter case I note those rights were given by a Republican house to a democratic president today's resolution shows a democratic house failing to give the same protections to a Republican president now speaker the unfairness is clear this is not a fair process nor was it ever intended to be it was preordained from the beginning without due process and without a fair process of respect for minority rights I do not believe the American people regard will guard this process is legitimate a legitimate process is one that offers protection for everyone involved and without those protections this will be seen as just another partisan exercise won the majority of been pushing since the very first first days of the hundred and sixteen Congress we can do better than that madam speaker the rules committee should have done better than this but since the rules committee didn't the house from us and with that madam speaker Irish opposition to the measure and reserve the balance of my time Tom Cole is the ranking member of the house rules committee earlier today manage bigger let me just say briefly that this resolution provides better protections for the president than what president Nixon Clint received and just like under Nixon and Clinton and the Judiciary Committee the president's council can submit additional testimony or evidence for the committee to consider the president is in his counsel can attend all hearings to raise objections they can question any witness this going is going beyond Nixon and Clinton this resolution allows the president's counsel to ask questions at the presentation of evidence under our procedures the ranking minority members of the Judiciary Committee and the intelligence committee may issue subpoenas of authorized by the committee by committee vote these are the same subpoena powers that the ranking minority member was given during Clinton Nixon a resolution allows for greater member participation then underpass impeachment proceeding procedures including a robust process for the minority to propose witnesses and even issue subpoenas if authorized by a by committees and and and let me just say I think that the fact of the matter is I don't either is any process that we can propose that that Republicans who prefer to circle the wagons around this president and prevent us from getting to the truth would accept I ask unanimous commitment you know his consent to Jordan for the record H. res S. eighty one from the hundred fifth Congress the Clinton peach required resolution that contains the same minority subpoena powers as a resolution transaction I also ask unanimous consent to insert in the record H. raise eight oh three the ninety three Congress the Nixon impeachment acquire resolution which also contains the same Minories subpoena powers is this resolution transaction so having said that ma'am speaker I yield one minute to the gentleman from New Mexico the assistance speaker Mr lu Han committee chair Jim McGovern madam speaker I rise today in support of the resolution on the floor we're here today because of the rule of law this resolution the inquiry is Congress up holding the old we pledge to the constitution we're here because of the president his actions his jeopardizing our national security for his own political gain we're here because we know the White House and the president admitted isn't trump use the power of the presidency to pressure and strong arm the president of a foreign country for his political gain he called it a favor do us a favor he said but it wasn't a fever it was a coordinated attempt to undermine the rule of law because of those actions Congress is compelled to be here to uphold the rule of law to make sure Americans here's the truth to say that no one not even a president can abuse the system without fair and just consequences I yield back German yields back German from Oklahoma thank you madam speaker I yield two minutes to the distinguished ranking member of the "Might try to take their comments down rules committee chairman Jim McGovern had warned the carcass about that during their weekly meeting on Tuesday and urged them to check with the parliamentarian regarding what they can say alosi then chimed in saying I'm not checking with the parliamentarian drawing laughter from members according to an eight it was present and yet she is lying because she said that she didn't check with the parliamentarians and that she got approval from the parliamentarian she knew last week that her remarks would violate house rules and she even lied about having run it by the parliamentarian this is all part of the strategy that they they contacted am I what I think it is backfiring on them now I see things not through the prism that the mainstream media presents them to us so you may think pressure crazy Democrats are carrying a day of it I don't think so that's only because the mainstream media's gonna always make it look like that let me give you another example you you can say what you want about senator Chuck Schumer but when shaquil Schober decides that he's got a pick up on and support one of these radical issues then I think it's a heads up as to the fact that the Democrat leadership house and Senate is losing here's the headline Chuck here was Schumer announces support for slavery reparations bill Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer told a small group of reporters on Tuesday that he will support legislation proposed by representative Sheila Jackson Lee Democrat Mars and senator Cory Booker Democrats the moon to establish a commission to study reparations for slavery now as the top Democrat in the Senate sure he's still in with the radicals this isn't going to happen this is pandering the Democrats are being given the bait to go way way left and they are taking it okay so now we're looking at you and Joe Biden you now you you have to apologize for your work were segregationists and you had to apologize for your work against forced busing to Democrats clearly now believe they've got to go buy votes they've got to go by support they don't have any big ideas all they've got is destroyed trump destroyed Republicans destroyed conservatives and buy votes they have big slanders they have big victim cards I got big race cards the Democrats running for president are entirely on impressive that's why they have to go buy votes and now Chuck Schumer comes out for reparations can Biden be far behind now they're losing control they're trying to make the I'm telling you that Schumer and policy are trying to hold on to the illusion that the Democratic Party has not shifted radical that these young upstart freshmen are a one off a that they haven't taken over but the evidence is clear they're running scared of them and it's trunk that's making this happen whether you agree with it or not that is the case people everywhere.

"To watch it right now, we have a problem we have to take care of this at it's quicker and easier to do this individually, but we would like to see real immigration reform in this country because we need it. Maybe this will turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Okay. What does that mean? I'll tell you. I think the president is saying he wants to work with congress. He'll do everything. He's more than willing to work with congress. But if after all of these efforts, they bomb out on a whole go the national emergency root, here's Jim McGovern democrat from Massachusetts today on the house floor, Mr Speaker, why should Americans go hungry just because the president wants to appease somewhere? Like Rush Limbaugh. Did he say Limbaugh? So now, I am a guy and a golf shirt in Palm Beach tribal chieftain and now responsible for hunger among the children in America. Americans going hungry because of me here is CNN NIA Malika Henderson. I guess she some common in Washington where the president that really is looking to see what ain't Coulter has to say what Rush Limbaugh say with the whole entire kind of conservative chattering class law. So they're sticking to this idea that Trump is sitting around waiting to hear from me his tribal chieftain in a golf shirt in Palm Beach before deciding what to do they can't let go of it. Do you think they really really think this is happening or is this just a twofer for them away to rip me and Trump at the same time? I don't be.
