"Are the guys on the road that get you over the top. You know, one of the things I think is supposed to also recognize this, which is masterful. And it happened unfortunately because Kyle Lowry got hurt and was regulated when he was out for a while and gave Vincent started. Now game started some gains last year as well. So there's nothing new. When you think about this rich, in the starting lineup, Gabe Vincent can just be gay, meaning he doesn't have to worry about running the show and being in the playmaker because you have like bam said one of the best passions there are out there, awesome passion. But also Jimmy Butler. So gage can be gay, what's happened is that you put Kyle Lowry on the second unit, now that stabilizes the second unit because Cal can run an orchestrate the offense and it's not a big drop off in regards to execution. So by making that move and staying with that in allowing that to happen, that gives this Miami team to balance you're looking forward to go to a Boston endgame one to walk out of there at least in game one with the W. Jim Jackson 14 year NBA veteran here on the rich eisen show tonight Lakers nuggets game two. What happened in the second half, if not the fourth quarter of game one, that had the Lakers really put the scare in Denver and an opportunity to tie the game late. What did you see there that darvin ham and the Lakers have no doubt behind closed doors hung their hat on? To win game two tonight. What did you see? Jim. Just both cultures are really good at making adjustments. Michael Malone, and also Darwin had. Darvin fell, I think he saw something with his coaching staff. You remember when like when Boston played Philly and you put a Marcus smart on Joel embiid? Well, why would you do that? Especially it works when you're in space when you get the free throw on three throw line or outside the box. Well, you do that because now the big, this time really hot you more regarding jokic. That allows Anthony Davis to kind of roam in protect the rim. Plus, when the bevel team come, it's a bigger double team. This Anthony Davis on your kitchen. And now you're coming with a guard. Yogurts can just see over the top of that. But by reversing those roles, now you allow Anthony to patrol the middle for cutters, so you kind of take that away a little bit. And even if they cut, they're the rim protect. And then you allow him to come if he needs to double a bigger presence. So I think it took Denver out of there rhythm because later scored 34 points in that fourth quarter. And they were effective in that. The key is going to be what Michael Malone does with Aaron Gordon. When they choose to do that because no matter where Aaron is at on the court, you can always kind of regulate yourself to helping. That's going to be that little nuance there, what Michael Malone does with Aaron Gordon when they invert that defense like that? Is going to be a chess match. And later shut the ball well from the three point line in the fourth quarter. I think they showed a little something of what they could do all these play well. But the strategical part of this game rich is going to be interesting from the beginning. I don't think Darwin had go with the same lineup of smaller lineup with D'angelo and Dennis Schroeder because they gave up too many often to rebound. But I think they found something, but Denver in these closed games, as you know, rich, they still figured out a way to close it out and not allow LA to do it at game one. Well, while we're talking about the chess match, it just seems an interesting chess piece to me is really hachimura. He's a fascinating chess piece. Certainly in this series, more so than what we saw maybe against the warriors. It seems like it might be his time here, his turn up to play a significant role to get the Lakers to the finals. What did you see from him in game one that you think darvin ham and certainly obviously Malone knows? But what about him as a chess piece here in this scenario? I love it. I love it because of his size and athleticism. Now listen with jokic, you're not what players like that, rich. You're not going to stop. They're involved in too many offensive sets. You're going to have the ball in their hands so much. Now, can you make them less efficient? Yoga's only had two shots in the fourth quarter. Now, it wasn't just Rory who did that. It was a really great team defensive scheme that didn't allow yoga to get those shots. But what really gives you 5 enough to compete with yolk is now yoga is not posting up. If joke is a straight posting up, advantage joke is. But out on the perimeter, brewery is quick enough to stay in front, he's strong enough to kind of keep yogurts from getting to a spot. And now he's a threat offensively when he gets out and run and uses that athleticism. That key piece to me with the Lakers when they made that move first to get Rory, again, knew he had potential, but he had injury issues in Washington, but that wasn't the chess piece I think that elevated the Lakers team. They gave him death at the wing position. He can score he can run. He can rebound, really intelligent player, and he fits what AD needs, LeBron needs, and more importantly, the versatility defensively with what Darwin had need. Now, if these start them to 90 starts on them, it's going to be interesting to see how darvin utilizes that because if you give too much of the same dosage to jokic, he'll figure it out. He didn't see everything. And he'll figure out a way to dissect it. So you got to give it to him in doses where he keeps him off balance. We never comfortable what are you doing offensively? So what do you think happens tonight? I don't even have a crystal ball, but I'll just throw that in your lap, Jim. I got one that just don't work that well. I got one over here, so I'm just putting up for better use. You know, I thought that the electric could be able to steal one of the games. I thought it was game one. And Denver. Denver has done a great job. I mean, if you look at Minnesota, Phoenix in game one, they won those games both by double digital 2020. So I'm not surprised that they wanted. Now the lectures also just in their first two series, they went on the road and Memphis, I think it wasn't Golden State. And one by large margin on the road. So they're very capable of course of getting game two. And I do believe I think the Lakers found something. They're going to tweak some things and I think they sneak out of there with a W to tie it up on one and one. Jim Jackson here on the rich eisen show NBA on TNT game analyst and of course 14 year NBA veteran, a few more minutes left with him. "And Joe desk furnished by Granger with supplies and solutions for every industry Granger is the right product for you. Call, click Granger dot com or just stop by. When I was a kid, I was getting ready for grade school. My brother, two years older than me, and he was the sports fan in the family. Again, if I followed my dad's wishes, the rich eisen show would be about show tunes every single day. And so I don't know if we'd all be here, to be honest with you. I don't think we could do a sponsored segment on brigadoon. South but the reason why I bring this all up is my brother is without a doubt, the smartest guy, I know, okay. And you go, del tufo. And I do know deal two. Honestly, he's the smartest guy I know who knows everything about everything. It doesn't wear it on his sleeve. He listened to our show open on his way to work here, is that the. Lawyer to the stars that he is here in Los Angeles, California? He texted me the phrase of Pat Riley is the disease of me. Not the disease of more. He's correct. I'm wrong. Again. There you go. So I thanked him for that and text and he wrote back. I'm here for America. We all give. Thanks Jeff. We all give. So, then, let's now be joined once again on the phone line by our friend from Turner is terrific doing what he's doing. Let's talk some hoops with none other than Jim Jackson back here in the Richardson show. How are you doing, Jim? I'm great, rich. I'm great and your brother sounds here, brother. Many got some little nuggets there. Oh yes. Some words of wisdom. I like that. Absolutely. And if you need any estate, I heard that from pat too. Did you really? What did you hear from me? What this plan with pat pad would always drop those kind of nuggets, those kind of life lessons more than just basketball. I mean, it was I was blessed. I say this all the time about young players that they had an opportunity to play for Pat Riley or exposure early in their career just to lay the foundation of what the game is, how to be a pro and how to look at the approach of being a pro basketball player, how that lays it out for whatever you do post playing for Miami because you look at things differently at other teams like that's really not the way you should approach it. This is really not the way you should do it. And then maybe you'll say, well, no, you know what? It's very similar to what pat would do for the organization and where they conduct business. But it was I had capital to kind rich that in practice would just beat you up, right? But then later on, we'll buy you dinner. But then the next day may not talk to you. He always kept you off balance, man. Okay, I'll pull on that string. What do you mean by that? I think it just gave me examples, but give me the exact scenario. You're talking about. Well, like one time we were at practice. Heading to Toronto to play. And I'm a he was just on us, right? I mean, now back then, we had like two to three hour practices. And I think maybe the game before we didn't play well and he was just, I mean, we were basically doing fundamental stuff taking charges, passing drills, box out drills. Just everything. And so we plan to Toronto and we happen to go out to dinner a few of us to tell you restaurant called Soto solo and pat was there. Well, pat end up buying dinner for us. Now, mind, you have to heat us beat us down in practice. So we don't that's cool, you know? But the next day, we got a shoot around and we get on the bus. He's sitting there laying cross kind of looking at a spring and nails didn't say a word to it. And within practically the kind of like, it's almost like the keep us even keeled off balance. You got a relationship, but yet this is professional. It was one of those mine things would pass. That always had to keep you motivated to understand what your job was. But also if you did, when you did your job like a professional you would be treated the right way. First class all the way. So Jim Jackson here on the rich eyes the show talking about Pat Riley back in the day. I mean, has that been downloaded into spoelstra? Obviously, he's his own man because this is the conversation. We had to start the program, Jim. And I think we'll only grow with each passing win by the heat if they do continue as such in this series and then maybe even beyond, is the secret sauce of the heat, three straight conference championship appearances with Jimmy Butler in the fold and then the rest of the team has built with coaching it. What is the secret sauce? There. Well, it's a lot more nuanced because Eric was at the time Eric was our actual film guy. Okay? So I think by starting at that level, I think what really makes a truly believe what makes air it's such a great coach outstanding coach. Is he got to see different layers of the game coaching organization and more importantly players. And what I mean by that by being in the film room, we got to break down the film and really look at study the game. Not that he didn't know it, but he formed some nuances in the game. He had to learn from pat. He got to be in practice. He had to be a training camp to get to be in the room as he elevated in game planning and drafting in personnel. But more importantly, he had the ear of the player. So he got he was able rich to listen to players what they desire, what they wanted, what they liked, what they disliked. All of those things, how to communicate what players, all of that stuff, think about learning that. And then being elevated into a situation where now you're a coach. So you downloaded all of this information. Now how you put it together in regards to a game plan and that is something different, but I think being able to be groomed from the bottom all the way through has allowed air export exposure to have a keen inside into personalities and how to handle high I would say caliber individuals like LeBron James and D wade and stuff like that. To a gay Vincent to a Duncan Robinson because Eric was in that situation even though he was drafted, but he was in a second round. You know what I mean? So he can relate to sides of the spectrum in place in communicate with those young men as well. And I think that's what makes him such an outstanding coach. I don't think people give him the credit as much as they give a pop because pop is thought. Right. But what Eric has been able to do in Miami has just been, I mean, outside of pop, who's the longest senior coach out there. Jim Jackson here on the rich eisen show. So then let's talk about the here and now. What happened last night and how sustainable is it for the heat against the defending Eastern Conference champs in Boston? Jim. Well, I mean, game plan was outstanding. I mean, listen, Boston is a team that shoots about 43 pointers a game. I think they're going to put up 29. So that's three point defense taking something away from what Boston does really well. Boston shop 51%. Last night, overall, but the only were 34% from the 2.9 across the board, Miami was 54% and 51 from the three point line. At 15 journal, but they're complementary players. 15 for strews, 15th events and 15 from March 15 fourth. Those are the guys on the road that get you over the top. You know, one of the things I think is supposed to also recognize this, which is masterful. And it happened unfortunately because Kyle Lowry got hurt and was regulated when he was out for a while and gave Vincent started. Now game started some gains last year as well. So there's nothing new.

"Took your foot and put it right on my stomach. I think that's your theme that you should run on. Throughout the playoffs right now. Oh gosh, is there. But let's get to that moment first since you were there and then we'll get to last night in a moment. When you saw what happened with draymond, you thought, what? In first blush moment in that one, Jim. That is going to be a flagrant. Flagrant two just because it's stomp. Now the everything that happened after that, of course, is up to debate, but I knew at the time and because of draymond, what a transpired in the past that when they called it and went back and looked at it, I knew it was going to be a flavor one of flagrant two. Immediately, just because of the emphasis when he stomped on. And I know a lot of people are like, you know, where else is he supposed to put his foot? I get all that. But is draymond green. So as much as he gets benefit of the doubt in regards to maybe being a little bit more demonstrative in his arguments with the officials and stuff like that and that's a long line in regards to how they allow him to speak to them. But then the other side of it too, which is the history part of what has happened with draymond. That comes back to haunt him as well. So you can't have one without the other. And this time, the other was the suspension part that Adam silver handed down based on history of what happened in the arena and things like that. And the warriors took care of business last night, game four can even this series and I imagine when draymond steps on the floor in game four in San Francisco, there will be a thunderous ovation and that'll be another emotional tide that the kings will have to survive. How do you see this series playing out from here on out? Jim Jackson. Well, I always thought that Golden State had the advantage from the championship experience. Now, they're not as deep as they were. Their margin of error rich is not the same as it was in the past. And what I mean by that is that in the past because they were so great defensively and I thought their bench gave them a little bit more from a scoring punch that they could overcome those turnovers. They always been a high turnover team, okay? But their margin of error was a lot bigger because of those intangibles I just talked about. Now, it's tougher, they got a slim margin of error. So them turning the basketball over in particular in Sacramento, defeats what they're trying to do offensive because they're not being able to get the kind of stops they need in particular on the road to win those games. So they can't turn the basketball over. So I thought going in that I still favored a higher CD to go to state because of the maturity and championship experience. And that's not a knock on Sacramento. It's just that I haven't seen them perform at this level against this team at this kind of on this kind of stage. Would I be surprised if Sacramento and heck no, I'm happy for Mike Brown. I love what they've done with that lineup and the rocks are streamlined it. They have guys that are low maintenance during Fox is a low maintenance superstar. Everybody buys in, but going into the series, a quite honestly, I thought that Goldstein could win that in 6 or 7. Well, we are going to have to see them win on the road in a way that we are accustomed to seeing them on the road in the playoffs winning games 27 straight series with at least a road playoff win a remarkable streak that may just come to an end to be very honest with you because they haven't really been able to play lockdown defense on the road since last year's finals essentially and draymond being back would be would be no doubt a feather for them, but they're going to have to defend in Sacramento in a game 5 and presumably one would think a game 7 and I don't know. I'd be concerned for them. Here's the thing. Think about this the first two games, they were right there. We're going to do a ten point lead and game one. Okay? What Steve has really wants him to do more so than not in particular on the road is this. A packed basket a lot more. Remember, go, we fell in love and got enamored with them shooting three point shot. But remember all the layups they used to get backdoor cuts and all the easy bathrooms because you had the guard the perimeter. While Steve Kerr really wants his team to one, especially on a row, shot selection is a key because those long quick shots lead to fast breaks per Sacramento, okay? Your defense is not set. So your defense is going to be compromised. So better shot selection be a little bit more patient. Second, attack the paint by attacking the paint, you slow down the pace a little bit more. You scored about now Sacramento can't get out and run. Those little things right there help you defense, okay? So if you are deficient in one area defensively, your offense can be your best friend in regards to protecting and hiding that a little bit and insulating you from those opportunities we're going to Sacramento can take care of it. That's the key for me because they're not all of a sudden become better defensively. They can, but they're offense really has to, I think, tighten up a little bit on the road in Sacramento and order get a W Jim Jackson NBA on TNT game analyst 14 year NBA veteran right here on the rich eisen show.

"NCAA championships. Kevin coogler, Jim Jackson, Clark Kellogg, Andy Katz on the sidelines. Miami 9 points in the last one 49. Guys after 7 points in their previous 12 minutes and 13 seconds in Miami's got a little life down by 12 with 1418 to go in this second half. Can you say spur ability? And you kind of not helping the cause because two or three of these possessions have been self inflicted. Where they just been nonchalant with the basketball and Clark, you know this against this Miami team. It doesn't take a lot to spark the fire for this team as we've seen to get back into a Ken now Yukon regroup themselves and get a collectively good offensive possession here. No Miami was down 8 with under 5 minutes to go against Drake in the opening game. They were down 13 in the second against Texas last week came back to get the win. Down 12 right now as Yukon will start up on the left hand offensive zone with Hawkins. Looking it up top to Jackson and now Tristan Newton to work with ten to shoot. Top of the key he'll back it out on the final four logo. Jordan Miller out to defend the four on the shot clock caravan on the perimeter back to Newton with Tudor shoots. One to shoot Newton at the foul on throws a dart off the backboard it won't go wrong it's the rebound but got tripped up and threw it away. Jackson comes up with a loose ball feeds it into the right corner to Newton and UConn back to work. You go back and out to Jackson. Jackson to the right wing. Don Newton, a little jab step and a foul on Jordan Miller for Miller his first. And inbound coming for Yukon. Little frustration, Tristan Newton's not happy about something. Both teams going to a neutral corner here. And on the chippy out there on that possession. Boy Miami got a stop and couldn't come up with the defensive board. Had they been able to, they might have had numbers. Now they've got to hunker down and get another stop. Hawkins bound to touch over to Sunoco and now back to Hawkins pushed out by o'meara in the kinds of trouble. That's great help right there by a mirror off the dribble handoff. They recovered Jackson driving baseline goes through omer ball won't go. Loose on the floor scooped up by Yukon they feed it to Sunoco and the right hand hook in the right block drops with three to shoot. Good inability to squeeze the defensive board. And the huskies make you pay. And Andre Jackson just puts it right once again where it's a no go on the outside. Right in his left hand, we can gather and finish. Joseph will swing it around to Beverly. His three snaps the net. Harlem Beverly with another lift off the bench, Miami with an 11th. Tell you what, Beverly and Joseph have really provided some nice minutes in their time on the floor for the hurricanes tonight. Newton walks it across the Hawkins. That first team all Big E selection Hawkins will working around now to Jackson at the foul line. Jackson, the no look to Hawkins springs out for a three. No, but a foul. Harlan Beverly closing quickly backed into him in three shots coming. For Yukon. I hate to see that move. You challenge yourself in with you turn around and put your backside right into the right into the shooter. Just when you have momentum till you've gotten started and that one's going to be a tough shot for Hawkins to make. And then the bailout right there. Takes away the catalog momentum you've had. But it makes it a free throw shooter at the free throw line. Gets the first one at the line. By the way, meanwhile, Nigel pack is silent. He blew a tire. I was thinking the exact same thing. Exploded in some way, shape or form and is having to get new kicks from the locker room. A reminder to log on to Westwood one sports dot com after the game for all the final four highlights plus exclusive postgame interviews photos and much more. Perhaps going to photo of the blow and shoe. And post it up on the website. 53 40 UConn. 12 and a half to go in this second half. Some substitutions. And also clinging. Now this is soon when those who are on the court to the lead extended in the first half and they kind of made their run. UConn. See if Miami can counter that this time wrong gets a good screen goes into the paint. Fades away over clinging and gets the bucket. He's got 11. 53 42. The lead again 11 with 12 minutes to play in the second half. UConn on top. Jackson passed. For Calcutta back it goes to Jackson 15 to shoot Jackson's girls kicks it out caravan driving left baselines to the rim Sean hangs on the rim won't go tip track by clinging won't go and it's tipped out to Beverly. Beverly now sticking to zag up the floor backs it up to wall fires a three top of the key. Here come the hurricanes. 53 45 you can't lead is down to 8. First time within ten since 32 24. Jackson with 15 to shoot for you Connor on the left wing. It worked the right hand dribble up top of the key feeds it to the foul line for clinging back it goes Jackson almost lost it. Regalis finds caravans three in the corner won't go clinging with the rebound and the put back on the right block. Sometimes it's good just to be 7 foot there. And the little fellas from the canes couldn't offer any resistance at all. It's like he was in lilliput there for a moment. Exactly. 55 45 long over to the right side. Gleaning in for three one of the foul from Jackson, he didn't get the call and the rebound by clinging. Ten point advantage. UConn up ten 35 to the title game where San Diego state waits. Swinging at the top of the key 16 to shoot Hawkins around clinging into the corner to Jackson. Back to Hawkins three right wing. You said the prettiest jumper between he Andrew font at Penn State. Yeah. Just pure shooters. I mean, that one he caught it low, but he finished tied to finish to the net. And he does a great job getting himself in position to shoot. Both with his movement and how he loads up the shot. Right. Beverly hill try a three won't go for Miami caravan the rebound in Calcutta will walk it up and really get the response by Yukon the league got down to 8. Here let's kick it back up to 13. Calcare up I'll pick the way, but a foul Joseph. Look, look, the ball came over here. Don't act like you knocked somebody down. You picked up a ball that went towards us. There will be no ticker tape parade for Jim Jackson. Besley Bentley Joseph knew better when he went the other way. You didn't move, you didn't even see it coming. I moved. I moved to protect our producer. 58 45 UConn by 13 while we fed Jimmy Jackson for his bravery and getting that basketball will step aside. "Jim Jackson NBA on TNT clippers analyst Fox college basketball analyst, one of our favorites, Jim Jackson joining us from Madison Wisconsin. How's morale Jim? How are you feeling? I got the best job in the world, man. I'm still undefeated since I retired. I like it. I'm good. I was wondering, you had a foot injury when you were at Ohio State. I think maybe a stress fracture. And watching LeBron's injury, I think he first said that he stepped on somebody's shoe or foot, and then I thought maybe it's a high ankle sprain. The way he landed to me looked different and more serious than you land on somebody's foot. What did you see in that situation? Well, I mean, it goes back because a lot of times with those injuries then, as you know, it's a lingering effect of something else. So that foot had been bothering him for a little while for my understanding. So when you have a non contact injury like that, again, as a result of wear and tear, something over time. So that was just like the needle in the haystack right there on the kind of took it over the top. So when he planted and I saw it, I was like, oh man. And I started to hear more about the injury itself. Because you think about it at this point in the bronze career, he's on the back end. Less days than more. Getting to the plow is very important for him to be out in talking about two weeks, maybe three. It has to serious. Because they had a chance to kind of inch up and have nothing else getting to play in game and go from there. But I think the injury is more serious than probably what they let on. Because if it's two to three weeks to just to be reevaluated, it's probably some swelling in there. It looked like it may be and I'm not a doctor, but it looks like it may have been under the arch of his foot kind of like we're plantar fasciitis is that all of those soft tissue injuries right there, I think all got affected on that play. And then I got to wonder if in three weeks he can come back. Do you even want him to come back? Let's try to get the play in game or do we shut him down for the rest of the season no matter what. Well, it depends on where the Lakers are at too. At that particular point, because AD, you know, not playing back to back games, still hurts the Lakers. Now they were able to split that series Memphis and OKC and when that game in OKC and give themselves a good chance to continue to kind of push up the ladder a little bit. But a lot has to do with that. I mean, I'd like to move that they made in regards to the acquisition. Does that get them a championship this year? I don't think so. From a roster perspective, can they be competitive in a one game scenario?

"What has to do those little things like that? Seriously. In today's game, they can still be physical from the perspective of that, but they would have to add a skill set more so people are highly intelligent players though, okay? They just didn't have the ball in their hands like draymond up. But in order to in order to really excel in this league, you have to have some kind of skill set in order that benefits the team outside of rebounding the basketball. Always great to talk to you. "I'm grizzy because they have a little bit more experience in the playoffs in regards to where they've been. The makeup of the team. But now, you know, but they're still young in some aspects of it, though, Dan. And that's the part that kind of bothers me a little bit. Is that this year they came in with the expectations because of what happened last year, which is great. But if you look at their team too, they're still pretty young and key position. I love Desmond Bain. Jaron Jackson to me is the key in regards to being healthy in the playoffs. I love the way Taylor Jenkins kind of manipulates the lineups and gets the most out of his guys. But I gotta get in my head and I made my credit to Mike Brown. This did, to me, is the perfect Mike Brown team. You say what? Well, when he's with cleave and he kind of had LeBron on LeBron kind of ran things that the Lakers, it wasn't really, it was still kind of somebody else's. This is his team, a young team that has bought in the kind of filtered out streamlined the roster. So you didn't have a lot of overlapping positions, guaranteed foxes on point on pay sa bonus is like probably one of the best acquisitions. I really love the direction in which Sacramento is going. I really love how they responded to Mike Brown even though he's probably been criticized in other scenarios about his offensive kind of takes and stop. We're talking to Jim Jackson, he's a busy man, NBA on TNT, clippers analysts. You called, you got to Purdue, Wisconsin, or you had that last night. And then that's Lakers. Are you sold on the big man with Purdue? In college, definitely. Okay, but are you sold on you? I'll tell you why. Okay. 5 years in in regards to his experience in play. Well, I mean, it goes back because a lot of times with those injuries, Dan, as you know, it's a lingering effect of something else. So that put that in the bothering them for a little while from my understanding. So when you have a non contact injury like that, again, as a result of wear and tear, something over time. So that was just like the needle in the haystack right there on the took it over the top. So when he planted and I saw it, I was like, oh man, now it started to hear more about the injury itself. Got a little fire getting ready to start out there and treger ville and Tyler the moderator has been busy whipping that up this morning. Tyler's standing might take your phone calls, 8 7 7 three DP show. Yes, Pauline. David Robinson had 71 percent. 71. And that was to win the scoring title. Correct over Shaquille O'Neal. Correct. The spurs beat the clippers one 1297. This is 94. Dave Robinson was 26 to 41. He even hit a three, made most of his free throws. Dennis Rodman helped him out with a bunch of offensive rebounds. And they were facing a clipper team of loi vought, Dominique Wilkins, Ron Harper, I'm not making this up. Mark Jackson and elmore Spencer. And elmore Spencer. And then George gervin against David Thompson for a scoring title final day, I think ice might have put up 68 or something, and David Thompson, they both, I think wanted played and then the other had to go out and pass a certain point again, pulling. Correct. Yeah, George gervin played earlier in the day and he dropped 63. Okay. And then David Thompson, did he finish with a 68? No, I'm sorry. Check that. 73 in the night session against your pistons, April 9th, 1970 8. Yes, Marv. I saw a little documentary like a 30 for 30 short on it. Neither of those games were televised. There's no, but see, I used to get the box scores. And I would study it because we didn't get to see the highlights. Maybe the highlights, but you would never see the game. And I would get the sporting news. And it would have box scores from the entire week, whether it was baseball, football, basketball, and it was I became infatuated with numbers because you would get those box scores and you'd immediately look at, what did that player do? And if you were watching a certain player in all star, a team, it was just you had to consume it that way. You almost looked at the box score and then imagine what the game looked like. "Our chew on this meet Friday, come on in, stay a while. We'll check in with one of the best analysts, Jim Jackson, NBA on TNT. That LeBron injury, I think is going to be season ending. The more I look at it, the feeling I got, the report yesterday. It feels like that LeBron might be done for the rest of this regular season. And the postseason for that matter, if there was going to be. And I go back to the injury itself, when I thought it was an ankle sprain, high ankle, rolled it, and then I realized because LeBron said that he stepped on Powell's foot, and you look at it and he didn't. He lands in a way where once he landed that way, I thought, you know, that looks like a stress fracture, or something that might be a little bit more serious. Just because of the angle of it and then how he reacted after. And then he went in and then he came back out and now we're starting to hear that it's a lot more serious than I think first feared or reported yes. There's a lot of headlines yesterday about LeBron has said good news he does not need surgery and it was very positive but the headlines I don't want the headlines match the actual story. Our buddy Chris Haynes and B and TNT and bleach report quote LA Lakers LeBron James will be reevaluated after a few weeks and at that time the hope is to gather a better understanding of what direction to go in, which will keep him sideline additional time or not. It's very a lot of people massage that into being he doesn't need surgery. Like he doesn't need surgery right this minute. Yeah, I mean, might not, but that might be you shut him down. Because if he's not going to be there for three weeks, are you going to be even eligible for the play in game? And do you want him coming back for something like that? If it's that serious or the potential to be serious, where there is surgery, then I shut him down. The thing that I thought was interesting about it is LeBron keeps everything in-house with his own people. And there really wasn't an update on that injury.

I'll put that to the side. It was were about to hit the moment where the nba is going to start. Really these any interesting names pop on my twitter feed while we're talking all all all deviate but let's let's just do this. We're two nights into the season and so we're we're like full overreaction theater mode where we're trying to draw meaning from everything you were in the nba for fourteen years. You know you go into a season you you probably have a decent feel some years maybe other years less so about what your team actually is so. I don't think that it's completely ridiculous to react to the first couple of games because sometimes you do see whether a team's offseason moves are panning out or not it takes time of course but is there anything in the first couple of nights. Seen that actually do give you an indication of where you think one team in the nba or a couple teams are going. Is there anything actually been interesting enough to say. I want to keep an eye on this. Because i think there's actual meaning to this yet. A couple of things golden state would be better than what people think. They're not that they were outside of the top ten in going in. But i just think the way steve. Kerr team plays jordan pool. You know hopefully the way he played first game played in. Preseason wasn't just a flat flashing obey because young men can play the way they played together. Move the basketball. If that's getting back to the golden state. And they're going to be a tough team atop the lakers a work in progress because they really didn't play a lot in preseason first is kind of like their preseason the games that are gonna play thank frank moguls experience with different lineups. They want to get to the second half of the season to be healthy. And then they'll figuring out what their rotations. They going to the playoffs from nessim another side that boston new york game last night. Okay new york want. It's only one game but it's a big game because the expectations the knicks man. A lot better be more competitive and more competitive eastern conference and the way they won the game aired claim the way he did that acquisition now as it happened recipe wrestlemania Thirty five thirty. I don't know but having that component that they didn't have outside shooter means something debut struggle but yet still. He made some plays when he needed to make some play. It then on the celtics is now. Jason brown wrote a rolling tatum. That plan will have games like that. Before hitting the two coexists in that manner and other so it may not be big thing but it may be little things that you look for you kinda mark out and say okay. Let's keep our eye on this. As the season progresses memphis john moran plane played. Extremely is a team announcers deterred a corn. Denver went into phoenix. Okay without jamal mer. Is it a big thing. One game give but how they want it when they were down was able to come back. So it's this is one game trust me but there's some little very important for certain teams more so than other teams. Let me drill down the lakers for a second because We're always fascinated with the lakers or forgot to. Yeah and milwaukee's gonna be me. No walkout is taking a approach of lack of respect. We wanted last year but yet still the pundits are saying that. We're not going to get back or you know. Roll cleaning the better team the lakers. You know what i'm saying. That was for them opening night ring ceremony night to play the way they play as a team. They looked great so that was a huge indication to me on their mental focus. Coming.

I will try to get you out of here a when you gotta go pick up your little one. Although as we're recording this they're gonna start announcing the final twenty five of the seventy five so any given moment before you go. I might just break in and say if there's a name that's worth discussing if we see any surprises you know something i don't the my main limits up seventy five. Listen you never know clyde. Do i do know that. Hey let me let me ask you this. Because i was gonna ask you this anyway because i think it's an interesting question. I seventy five on some level predictable right and so far. We've seen for the first fifty a lot of guys from the original fifty fifty. Th anniversary team made it so it's just a matter of like tacking on the other twenty five. That's not the process you could. You could pick anybody you wanted. But we're seeing a lot of predictibility so far. So i did think of this question that i wanted to posed you. Write the all time greats. We know who they are. But and maybe it's more than seventy five. It obviously has one seventy five. Is there an unconventional candidate. Though especially one maybe from your era the time that you were in league you're fourteen years is there. Somebody perpetually overlooked. And i'm not saying this is somebody who'd be topped seventy five or even top hundred but just somebody who you consider like an all time. Great talent who had a major impact on the game but that we just don't talk about enough or is not gotten the recognition. They were due aside from yourself. Of course there reminds. Yeah especially during your time. It doesn't have to be. Maybe somebody who grew up on shoot i made. They finally got dominique wilkins right. Yeah i don't think we've seen his name yet. What that's the one. That's the one you're talking about. Have an impact on the game in a at ready. Didn't get in on the first twenty five. The other day is is no the impact the game the eighty in the eighties to make that a lot of team very relevant but it was kind of a changing of the guard. Because you had michael that magic should burn going out but the classic game would dominate can going at it in the car i mean and mike and michael jordan dominate dominate. The highlight Brought so much excitement to the game kinda helped grow even though he didn't wanna championships but it from scoring perspective the impact. He had on game as no way. Dominique wilkins to me. It shouldn't be in multiple all star games. He was in shouldn't be included in that. No it by china's podcast comes out the whole the whole will be out so i'll just saying i voted for predominant was one of the voters i did. Vote for him. I do think he's got snubbed. Back in ninety six when they were doing the fiftieth anniversary team. So you what you had the vote. Is there somebody that you knew besides neat that would you know. During that time that we get in didn't know they were striking because it's interesting voters spent. Yeah no you know the difficulty. Jim was that we had looked at those fifty. And they're not. They're not automatic right. You could kick out anybody. You wanted to add more guys from the modern era. If you wanted to the more i went down that road and talks to people who are older than i am and and more versed in nba history. The horror at got to just boot a doll. Shays or anybody from that. From about cousy or bob cousy. There's a lot of guys for back. Then who kinda got in on the on the benefit of being part of a celtics dynasty or by dominating an era when there weren't that many big men or an era by the way when especially in the early days league there weren't that many black players and then there were quotas efficient. Unofficially it's really hard to take those early eras and say that they hold the same weight as today especially when you consider the talents of athletes. Today are just the explosiveness. So i had a really difficult time with that. I wanted to boot more players from the original fifty and but every time i went down a path with one or the other way there was a reason to keep them. It was hard. It's really hard. I'm i'm writing all about this. It'll be posted on dot com by the time. This podcast comes out but No i booted one of the original fifty lenny. Wilkens to make room for dominique. Wilkins not intentional with the name. It just happened that way. But lenny was the one who had i think the the weakest case to stay right. No disrespect to delaney. Who's obviously all time. Great player and coach. But you couple that hard. Because one you didn't you want around the see those guys play really have also you really. This is always say about this when they talk about the greatest player. Ever play but michael jordan right. Lebron james i said here's the difference twenty years from now you. In my opinion. Lebron james you say i said because the individuals writing the narrative were in the same era. All the impact. That lebron james hat. So they're gonna be ones riding in voting and picking everything and they may have missed michael jordan in his impact aging. Only here so the same conversation. You're having my now bought the top. Sandy pod fifty and not. You know the ole air not to say to the door dorm whenever not be considered but the narrative. Can you.

Yesterday is very much been deniability jerry. Jones was once asked. Why aren't you on social media. And he said. I want deniability. I don't wanna put anything down. That's the biggest day for the packers off season on that day. Aaron rodgers or somebody connected. Do him leaked to multiple star reporters. I'm unhappy. I want out. Now we know the packers didn't leak it. Because why would they create that kind of chaos and mayhem going into their biggest weekend of the off season. Aaron did it right at the start of the draft ten minutes before three great reporters all trustable all reliable. Had the same exact information folks been in this business. Thirty years doesn't work that way. it's always staggered. Guy's got it here. One guy in our later all three same time. Boom somebody on that side leaked it. So aaron now was not quoted doing it. Aaron wouldn't talk to mike tariq. Oh at the kentucky derby. He hawaii just having fun in yesterday. He was very glib very casual and very indifferent. Here's a sample from him. Being on that gulf match with brady and bryce shambo and mickelson. You're having a great time. You've really kept a low profile. This offseason. I've hardly seen your name at all. You haven't hosted any tv shows or been involved in kind of controversy or anything. It's been a nice peaceful offseason for you. It sounds like it's been yet thank you. It's been one of those quite seasons. You just dream about where you just kind of. Go through your process On your own quietly and You know that's all you can ask for his older player in the league and someone has been around for a long time and just enjoys that time to yourself just relaxed and not be bothered and not any obligations or anything going on you know. I think that's why this offseason been about. It's been really enjoying my time. And spending their where. I wanna spend it and not feeling like apple go anywhere not having any responsibilities but still being an nfl player. He's coming off very happy very casual different but remember. "Not down shots hit free throw but then in the game they had that instant success now. They don't have the competence and with ben he's so passive about it with embiid is not on the floor. This is the different been simply not on the floor. Meaning that he's out with an injury when benn knows he has to be aggressive. He's a different player but by default. When you has in be. He doesn't play this. We saw a couple of games ago to feeding paint downhill. He was rolling. But that's that every now. And then. But now i said i'm not gonna say every now and then that's the roller coaster bid. One game was soon be real aggressive. The next game we won't. That's the pacific. He's so passive as a player at times. That's what frustrates. You frustrates us as basketball fans. Because we see it in him but we don't see consistently up. Yeah it's a little. Like anthony davis when he's engaged. These unstoppable and i don't know. I don't think you can coach stuff like like michael jordan's relentlessness. A coach doesn't get credit for that. Let you know kobe's obsessive nece. A coach doesn't get credit for that like indifference. There's a lot of things to coach can do. I don't think you can coach indifference out of a player. "Make you know the adjustments so with the offense when you have a versatile player like a kevin durant so it's just not as simple as well double team get the ball out of his hands. Okay at times you can but jeff green was hitting knocking down shot. I know joe hair struggle from behind the three point line but that young man if he got hot could hurt you so i think you have to change up. The defense is when you play against a guy like kevin durant to not allow him to get comfortable once again. Steve nash has been great. I think it's not a dilemma. I think he he has the ability with a kevin durant. Unlike a lot of other superstars in his like janas janas. He's one dimensional in regards to what you can do with them. Offensively kevin durant is not so it's more challenging to double team and take the ball out of his hands. That's fair you know i. It's i was saying this about milwaukee. Sometimes we just have to readjust our expectations. And that's okay like we. There's a lot of these teams And we look at them and then and you know this you draft people in football or basketball and after about three years. You're like not quite as good as we thought we. I look at milwaukee. And i look at all the brakes. They've gotten coli left. The east lebron left the east. The celtics unraveled hardens hurt. Kyrie's hurt a embiid's hurt. And i look at them right now. And i'm like you led by nineteen at half hardens having his worst game as a pro kyrie's out and you can't win last night like i think to myself jim we've now got a readjust. What we think about milwaukee. They're a nice team but the ceiling. I think is lower than i thought it was a month ago. Is that fair. Colin is funny because it's fair but at the same time this is what we thought coming in that because of the acquisition of drew holiday now in late game situations with with. Chris middleton and holiday that would ease the pressure on. Yon.
