"Blake situation that's now spilled over into all sports elections coming up, which is through F- something else and Yeah and I think that it's sometimes you just need to hear someone else say it's okay to not be okay and I guess that's what I WanNa do and just just remind everyone that like the last six months. It sucks it's brought out I feel like the last six months have brought out the worst and everyone dislike every single person in this country is on edge at all times for for. Rifle the rightfully. So for various reasons, and we are all operating at a place of being on edge and. By coming from that position, we assume the worst and everyone else and it just kinda has spiraled and and. It's kind of getting out of control. But at the same time, I just want encourage everyone to pump the brakes and remember that love and empathy are always the answered Just try to understand a different viewpoint like seriously try. I'm not lecturing anybody. I'm not telling you what's right or wrong I'm just encouraging you if if any part of you has ever sat there and thought to yourself, why does why does that keep happening? Why do those people continue to yell that? and. They yelled at for a while like I don't know take some time and like really think about it really look into and be earnest with your approach and give it an honest effort and don't go into it with bad faith and all that, and maybe you'll learn something alternately and the other point I'd make date is entertaining a point of view does not mean you have to accept it so. Maybe you you look into what someone's point of view is, and ultimately you're like, no, they're still wrong still disagree but just by taking the time and the effort to try to understand the other person you've already that's humanity. That's what humanity is and I just want to encourage people and at a time when it feels like there's nothing any of us can do and the problems are far above our heads. I just WANNA encourage everyone to to what what's the phrase tend to the garden. You Can the part of the garden you can touch I. I. heard that one time. Tend to the part of the Garden Kentucky. If all if all the only capacity, you have a loved those around you, that's enough because then they can go love the other people around them and it's passed on and that sounds hippy dippy I know. But I also believe in it and I think that's that's how change happens. We'll kind of like the NBA them them sitting out for two days isn't going to fix all the but if nobody ever did anything nothing would ever change so. We try to change devolve but we need love. Let's do it. I'm off to learn how to sail. You might not ever see for me again, the captain might hand over the. Cab. Titus you got you watch. Youtube Sir I've watched every youtube on sale takeover for US steer a strictly into a cliff and that's all you hear from you. So you got. You got a little motor back goes like fifteen minutes. You'll be fine. They can always get back here for me next. On. The show by himself, that's what happens. So I'll be sure to let them know what's going on I. Give Them. I am just the Angelo now lost. "Do you think the big ten puffs chest and say we were right all along because I feel like answer is still no I feel like. You can't. It's not enough to be right. You have to be right. You can't just be luckily right you know what I mean. The big ten might be luckily right but they also might be wrong. But best case scenario they're going to get lucky and be right yeah and they've already they've already backtracked enough to show that they weren't. It would be it would be weird to come back and flex to say, Hey, we were right. Old Time Kinda just feels like they've already lost that advantage of level and I I don't even know what the advantage of being right is like I. don't even know what favor that really carries or get you in the marketplace of fans or people that are watching these games other than the fact that white they it makes you look like. Legitimately Care Right. There's our actual. Yeah. Like people were talking about. Other schools use this against the big ten in recruiting but I think I think you could argue the other way you could if you're Ryan Day, you could be double screens like don't go to Ohio state. They don't care about football like we do down here and then Ryan Day could just as easily be like don't go to Clemson they don't care about your health you know. Let you corona virus I mean, and I actually care about you as I don't know you can. Always. Always goes is you could always argue like. That's that's the joy of recruit. You can always argue until someone calls and says I have a strong offer and then and then You have a different conversation. Yeah. All right shut US close out. Before we go I just WANNA shout out George Hill and just the the bucks in general I mean I think that was like we talked about this time of the podcast but George Hill is not an NBA superstar by any means. But Georgios appoint guard on the best team in the NBA he doesn't have to say these things he doesn't have to stand up and it's not a guarantee that he's going to have you know everyone's like our marketing plays for Nike whatever that's not why George chills doing this so I just wanted to point out the say To that point as well like George, Hill. He sacrifice something and I think it's easier. Now point to the fact that. They're going to the game wasn't forfeited basically, there's going to pick up the schedule where they left off and then say, so you didn't ultimately sacrifice anything. This is stupid. He didn't know that at the time and the bucks didn't know that if the bucks were prepared to forfeit to game the bunch from prepared to throw away a playoff game ultimately did not but that doesn't change like the curly. It's not nothing that's all I wanna say that's like the big big takeaway with this whole thing is it might not be the biggest deal the world it might not solve everything what it's not nothing and. That's that's it so I I. WanNa, shout out. Coach. K.. Do your favorite. Guy Your favorite program for for their peaceful protests that they had on campus spearheaded by the Duke Basketball Team Coach K. is encouraging everyone get out and rock the vote and all that kind of stuff and you know just in. The interest of fair and balanced journalism we have to tip our cats when they do good things. That's the only way. That's the only way people are willing to listen. You WanNa do rat impressions and whatnot is you have to be fair to be fair. Things to. Know exactly I saw Nolan out there. Get a nice little speech saying you know, ask your player how they are asking how they're doing not about their defensive assignment that they missed. It's it's great to see that Dean Smith's ways of treating players as rubbed off on coach Gay and I think that's that's sort of what the lesson is. You know what I mean growth. Growth is something in this world that a lot of people don't want to be a part of and they don't WanNa be privy to and I think the coach k. growing into the coach that we see in know today as quote unquote the Gone College. Basketball is honestly a study in a player and and a character study someone that grew into a great person and A. House wondering are you're going to give him props but still not I think that's I. Think those are fair perhaps to be honest with you. Learned for Dean Smith Well is best he learned from the best. Witness the best end Jimmy. What's the best? What else? Again Oh, man I gotTA. Shout the NC state. And neighboring. Millan. Specifically, we went into this tournament with the Pacers in the state of the playoffs and they signed nate McMillan, to con I don't mean to laugh I. Just mean to laugh at the state -ness of this whole situation. Nate McMillan is a great coach great basketball mind and he gets a contract extension Brogden a guy that we love on this program is like we just need one healthy year at this with this team with this coach and we. Have a real shot to make a run make some noise, and then of course, they get swept by the heat and then he is relieved of his duties and it is the most NC state thing I can think of it's a very Tom O'Brien situation herbs index situation whatever whatever fire you can think of where it does feel like they had something there but then they expected it to be like better. So they decided to scrap it all the major story guy that. Story it's. The Guy. They hire they're going to go forty, five and thirty seven. Every year Mike Dantonio everyone's GonNa blame in. This seems a lot of fun. They'RE GONNA lose the second round of the playoffs and six games, and then they'll fire him after five years and then they'll bring in another guy and they'll never get a top ten draft pick they'll never compute. Yeah and they'll just. Story I don Juwan Howard takes the job and we are Just keep it rolling and let is the Indiana Pacers they exist for that reason only the only height that can ever reach is being the foil to. The real champions and Punching, bag Jordan's punching bag. There Lebron and the heat. They're punching bag and it's also just a great lesson in sports a lag. No matter. Yeah no matter your outlook, the full faith in what you have there. There's just something around the corner. That's why the process dude. I. I'm a fan of the process of a fan of what he was doing. Because I a die hard patriots fan ever since Lebron left Cleveland the second time. I see what? What being earnest in your pursuit of winning basketball game to get you it gets you nothing. It gets you the seventeenth pick in the draft every year tate all gets you and then the wheels just continue to spend and you never get better and the most excitement you can ever get that victory depot get straight there and it's a hometown guy that's not actually from there but went to college there. So we all act like a hometown guy and. That's it. That's the most you can ask for as a base I. Bring Home Gordon, hayward the that's all we're saying breast. That's much to ask Brad Stevens one of the first comments on bill and he came out and he was like nate's great coach I hate to see that and I was like Oh Brad like you're tuned into the Pacers just in yeah. You seem to really know a lot about this situation brand I want you to know that. I don't have anything else. That's all I got shout outs. Yeah. That's a great list of outs my well, my last thing I want to shut off Vince Carter for Phnom Kidding. I WANNA. Shout out the listeners again We say thank you last time I. Guess Maybe a word of encouragement 'cause I feel like we gotta do this every song every. So often we think everyone for listening every. So often you got to remind people things might be okay and. Right now, it sucks again like it feels like the weight of the world is once again like collapsing on everybody and there's hurricanes going on there's fires in California. There's a the Jacob..

"Players within a conference suing the conference more the idea of like a school because we saw, we heard this rhetoric. Tages World Mark Titus I mean. Think how would you feel if? Like. I Dunno Syracuse. I was GonNa say, yes. Syracuse are Boston college or like someone that came in as a new member, his Amelie having player sue your conference I mean if anything it, it points to dissension amongst the conference. Right? There's no real unity I think the SE is probably the strongest unified conference but they're all independent operators they kind of have this false Assad of like unity but push comes to shove Alabama's GonNa Point the finger at Tennessee Vice. Versa. They did it so I I think at one level. It's like it really doesn't mean anything that it's Nebraska it's like it. It was you know all the petitions that would are adjusting fields. Did it means a lot of players within the big ten that WanNa play obviously. But there is probably some big ten diehards that grew up on big ten stuff like if Maryland or Brassica like I could understand that kind of frustration where kind of like you just got to the party and you're already complaining you know what I mean. I just trying to figure this out, but you're already complaining pissing us they were parents of football players they're protesting at the big ten offices. And Listen I. I'm not smart enough I kind of I I think month or it's unfortunate because it's easy for them to point to the ACC in the SEC in the big twelve and see it happening and then have the confusion I. think that's that's sort of like when there's no unified voice on what the decision this is what I was gonNA say. I'm not saying the big ten should have done one thing or another because it's not my call to me I don't have the facts in front of me. I don't have the you know I don't I don't know basically. Outright admitting that they. Jumped expecting everyone else to jump with them. And know, and everyone else looks they were trying to be first and they when they jumped off everyone kind of turned around and they have no, they don't really have any data to point to to say this is the reason we cancelled and again i. Maybe canceling was the right move I don't know but if you'RE GONNA make. Any decision you have to back it up you have to you have to face the music and say, here's why we did this and haters be damned like I'm sticking by for these reasons and man the explanations the. All the all the verbiage coming out of the big ten office just leaves more questions than answers and it's very, very frustrating. Having said that the idea of like players like Scott Frost I, I don't know I don't think he's a part of this lawsuit with the players but like Scott Fraud the reaction Scott, frost ad when the big sense of their cancer. We're playing football. Exactly right. They had the same thing which like you know like I love the the coach of the modern football, we're ranked number two in the AP poll. How really good team but we're in a conference man like you got. The decision comes down you got kind of like. Take it. That's just the way it goes. You know like you gotta you gotTa be on the team and that is not the way it's going right now it is absolutely why West College sports like every single. Now we don't care. We're going to try to figure out a way to play. anyways it's insane to me. And you and you get like reports of like I saw today it's like NC state is pushing game against Marshall to end of September as opposed to like next week, and it's like that's how these decisions are Ecu. Though they're pushing the game like the end of September, their opener like those be made just like they're not They're not calling the American conference or like this what we're doing you know what? I mean. Yeah. It's what we talked about like there's it you we're all learning that. There is like a conference unity or alignment or whatever, but all that business and as soon as the business shakes up or shifts or whatever it may be like didn't people really show their hand they say kind of like this is what we're gonNA. Do I will say that the big ten and I'm a big ten guy through through everyone in my family went to big ten schools. I will always be a big ten guy but I'm also. Aware of the world around made enough to say the big ten of the power conferences is definitely the most pretentious. Definitely the most like we can look like the good guys here if we do this I and everyone will applaud us and everyone else will just fall in line and they won't get credited. We'll be awesome because we're the only people that trust data and facts and science, and again, maybe the data. And the facts the science say that that is the right move but you got to sell it. You gotta you gotTa you gotTa get out there and say this is why we did this. I understand that you guys WANNA play but this is why we're not playing and I I do not Envy Kevin Warren I don't know how much of it he brought on himself though you know what I mean like he's A. Part of you wants to feel bad for him because he's the first year like having this dumped on you and your first commissioner, not even a first year. He's like within the first six months of the job. Basically, we took over January. Is within his first year yes. But to have this dumped on this unprecedented crisis that that. I mean I, it's fresh meat these other conferences as soon as they saw that they started recruiting the players like like lane kiffin is recruiting players from Ucla and USC. I. Question to you is if all the other schools end up canceling which like you're not even close to being out of the woods, I think you're is what I would say to all. Everything's going on as usual and I understand it. But like you also pay attention to the stats coming out of these schools, North Carolina shutdown as we said online doesn't mean football's not going to have good like you're not out of the woods. So of all the school. If all the other conferences shutdown, there's.

"Of Federal Wiretap. Quote. We compensate him better than the rookie minimum. We give him more than the D. League and he was talking about Gerard, blossom game automated went to Clemson but he said these words onto a wiretap we'll way does not have a bag man we'll wait is the bag man yes and the audacity of it all. is so ridiculous like he really is the baby faced assassin stands up there and press conferences. He kinda just smirks at the questions as if he'll. He's like you guys you guys kind of. You know you guys see it. Miller is flying close to the sound as he possibly can s we'll wait set as corn drizzly for the son He's flying straight into that son of a bitch and he's trying to fly through the son. He is the son I'M THE CHOSEN SON? I the guiding light in this game. GimMe the reins and honestly that's that is the I think that's the admiral apart of all of it is that it's so blatant that it's you know it's Kinda like this. This is the future of the game you know what I mean and uh, thank you. We'll wait just for being straight I in a world or the world full of bullshit. This guy has been straight. Think this is the funniest part about it. All is that there's a non zero chance that we'll wait is hailed as a hero in like ten years. In, the same way that people are kind of revived here revisiting Kyrie's comments about like maybe boycotting the bubble and you're like man, were we wrong about that? Like maybe I feel like we'll wait is there's a chance I'm not saying it's going to happen but there's a chance like ten years from now. Look back man wait was ahead of the curve all the. All the guys were dropping bags but we'll wait and it was only with the balls to come out and say like strong s offer. Facts is it also one of those things where Dicky v was the only one that was brave enough to come out and say the incidentally was going to come true to make indicated right now. All right. Good. That's all I got to say. In retrospect dickey was right. So what do we expect at the time line with this? I? mean, I, I kind of given up on the scheme comes out by the way an Lsu. PUTS. Out a statement like wait or coach we're sticking by our man. So I doubt that. I doubt that Lsu's going to be called to action unless. The only the only thing. I could see like odor on thing like they got throw a sacrificial lamb. Coming out of Baton Rouge and they're like we need a sacrificial lamb. Sorry sorry will this is the basketball issue and we'll get rid of this guy and that's the only way I see it but I also think that there's a bubble that's happening and we need big time premier program supply some non conference stuff LSU's on that list of team that's going to be invited they probably complain that and if that'd be the case, the investigation will just be starting at that point you know what I mean it's probably hard to do an investigation Cova Times. This is going to draw out and as long as we'll wait, is there like you're saying what if? What if we're in the bubble we have to investigate Alma. Development Party boys the bag boys in the bubble. We're everywhere. We're just asking everybody. We're we're getting a list. We're checking it twice. Yeah. We're like like we look up on day two and the bubble, and there's like a on a Manila envelope. Doors and we open it and it's from the NCAA and it's like we could not get guys inside the bubble. We don't have the resources. You guys are GonNa have to do this. It's your obligation you're going to have to. Yes. To crack this case for us, they asked us for alias and we say Jeff I say de Ngelo we only go by one name. One name only don't confuse it. Okay that's. The God bless you like. I Miss I miss. I. Miss. We need this. We need this American needs this this. This is normal jude. Talk about American gangster that will like all this stuff hits the same day that the bucks don't play. So late that no one's talking about this. Like you and I are talking about it. But like next to you don't even know what we're talking about. Already listen anymore like what the hell. IS GOING TO BE Jim Jackson that was great. What what's? His we'll wait. This is why. Why he's in America game incognito man that's what you need. Unbelievable. What else we gotTA, hit before. You get out here I just didn't. Like the college basketball optimism I feel like I keep seeing the I mean I don't know if I'm just in the rosty bubble, but I just wanted to say like from our perspective during these times, I am very excited about the the idea of what it could look like and I'm also it just seems so set like I mean the four options that we got with dates like we said there like one week apart ten days apart whatever may be I'm excited about the optimism but I'm also as things play out just like I wanna see what it looks like. So I need to see it I wanna see it so. I'm excited about the release the bubble plans. Yeah shows. The six first week of September. They said Oh first week when they're meeting. All. The answers won't be until November. Twenty fit. Anything ever happened in college basketball is always dislike meetings. About what's going to come and be prepared for this? It's it's an ever like it. It's just a filibuster. Like just keep stringing it out. In this week like no, we'll wait. Straight up I swear to God like if you go back and listen to every show, we've ever done together. Like. Forty percent of the content is us being like? So that's something to keep an eye on. This is going to be crazy. Yes. Maybe. We're like doomsday peppers you know what I mean. We just keep gas in it up dude shut up. Oh. Can. We talk about Nebraska Football? I WANNA get an outsider's thought on this because. It's I mean, nothing's going to come of it like they have no legal standing whatsoever. They're like I was following a Guy Wallich data while tweeted about a little bit and trying to make sense what he's saying he's apparently like apparently they're in for the love of God do not quote me on this. Go Straight to the stores yourself I am just I. I'm trying to. Remember, correctly and I don't know if I am or not I want to say that he was saying that the the rock of their case, the foundation of their cases that in twenty twenty three, they expect name image likeness to take effect. So by not playing right now they're losing out on the big ten's decision is costing them money so they want to be like. And he's basically Wallich's basically like this. This case this stay because those future royalties are so I get I. Don't think we need to talk about like is this going to come to fruition whatever it's more of the idea of..

"You do to prevent drunk driving planning safe ride home before you start drinking designated driver or call a taxi if someone you know has been drinking, take their keys in a range with them to get a sober at home. We all know the consequences of drunk driving but that's one thing. But one thing's for sure you're wrong. If you think it's no big deal drive sober or get pulled over back to the podcast. All right. Thank you Jim Jackson for joining us. Tate I. You said before we did the interview but. I. Need to reiterate this guy. He treats me just far too kind and I love him for it and. I don't know. I, just I'd I'd I would just like to point out Jim Jackson he's one of the good guys. Every every time I run into him he treats me like Greg, Oden Mike Conley or anything else and I'm always taken aback by anybody who? Shows me any sort of respect with some? Yeah I mean. It's one of those things to where I would love to have Jim Jackson the show. So we can talk about the nineteen, ninety, two draft you know having shack and Alonzo Mourning and Matt Geiger all in the same draft like that had to be a lot of fun and Harold Miner his actual career at Ohio state I feel like I don't get enough coverage of that era basketball general. But not, today. A, we'll save it for another time but I'm sure they'll come back. He's. He's he's awesome yeah. Anyway moving on before we get to, we'll wait. Let's talk about a couple of John. Ross scoops just because we're back. Here we go. All right. So rusting team tweets I. Think this was this yesterday today I'm losing track of time but. There is a movement. Golden Opportunity of sorts calling Orlando in the Mohegan Sun. He is it Mohegan Sun or just Mohegan Mohegan Sun just smoking. There emerged the Napster facebook situation. Their emerging as locations for non-conference bubbles for early season tournaments. And the rationale here is if you bunch together all these little late Yes pods, these these these little presents, Bahamas, and you've got some in Charleston south. Carolina. Beach Myrtle beach you throw them all together to one. Then you can play those tournaments out but then while everyone's under the same roof, why don't we kind of cross pollinate and play each other after and just try to just bang out a bunch of non conference games and then everyone can go back home for second that's the as it pertains us. Let's cut to the chase. Is Maui going to be in Orlando this year is that where we're trending, that's the fear. Yes. Well, the the fear I should say this, the the reservation that we have is that we lose the opportunity to go to the beautiful. Island Valley to get in the line civic center to to wear lays to do just enjoy the highest quality of basketball life that exists out. there. See Jay. Bilas see big big way billy see the whole thing, but I, also have a new proposition which I think is in the works which I think is perfect and it is the argument that we have had until we became brand ambassadors, which is what is the premier tournament to open up the season is battle battlefield Atlantis or is it the Malia tation L-? And here is the chance to put those two you know competing fields, and if you look at the twenty twenty field for the battle for Atlanta's got names like Ohio state you're on. The Blue Devils are in that Creighton is in that Bob Huggins and West Virginia in that group Penny Hardaway and Memphis and that that was that's Atlanta's field. That's the twenty twenty Atlanta seal and then if you look at the Maui field and you throw in the Indiana's in the North Carolina's and you get you get a nice little domino. Young of course, Shamanee now in it. But you bring those teams down there you bring all those teams and you make a battle for Maui slash lands, whatever you WanNa call this the the Atlantis Invitational the battle for Maui I don't know what? Maui Wowie the battle for the bubble battle bed over the whole. But those two events being simulcasts as one event in one place with all those teams and coaches there I think that's my best case scenario for if we do have a golden opportunity bubble, so we do I. Champion versus champion of those or do you do do do do like big Tennessee challenge replay out the tournaments and then after they're done, first place plays I play second place second place third place in each tournament, and then we do whoever wins the most of those games. That's how we determined who the better terminus. I don't know. Back to the drawing board what for Rusting Scoop on that one? I'm just saying those fields in one place. It makes sense I see it I see it in my mind I like it. There's another another big scoop is that the starting date of college basketball he says is likely going to be either November twenty fifth, which is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Or December four th, which is Friday I believe it's just like three weeks after what would be under normal circumstances the starting date of the college season Yep exactly. What which camper you in the battle is I mean I my fam I'm I'm I'm not talking to my brother anymore because we got such a big fight about this. He's a big December four, th guy on November twenty, six guy it's a battle that is tearing families apart you have to draw a line in the sand with. Its funny. I've seen house divided. Twenty. Four. The battle for Landis officially scheduled to start November twenty fifth. So that makes me feel like that would include that tournament with those days. So it's December fourth maybe the battle for Atlanta's is not included.

"Of the owners, the owners of the NBA and the the billionaires that can call up their bodies and government say the League is there. To accommodate the players and to keep the relationship between the owners and the players at bay and the players just cut out the league and they went straight to the owners they said, you have to see us because we're not going to be putting and Kudos to the NBA and the executives that got in those rooms immediately and said, what is the Action Plan? How many days are we off when you guys want to play but? At the end of the day, that's the first time they've ever asked the players do you want to play? They were told? Yeah that's what that's what this is. This is a shifting of the power a little bit where the players are like if all these all stars don't play of Lebron, James is not play in Michelob ultra spend all this money on this time slot on the D. Yeah. What does that look like and you? Know what I mean that that I hope that we see some actionable items Milwaukee general like you said with the powers that be but that was the sliding scale of power. That's what's happening right here and I will say for for it's very easy to get disheartened and say like nothing ever changes and all that, and again I understand we need hope we understand the position I'm speaking from I'm not an African American man I do not. Have to deal with all all the issues that the black community does but. I will say in this small little sliver about just athletes at large. One change. One noticeable change that I have perceived in my lifetime is that athletes are. Being treated as human beings more often than not it's not perfect. It's not even close to perfect but I just maybe it's a maybe this is more of a factor of getting older but it it certainly feels like. Society the general public have always viewed athletes as lake superheroes or cartoon characters or movie characters. They're not real people and. Whether it's through social media whatever. But it feels like we've now reached a point where Again, this isn't everybody because they're still far too many people that just like shut up the dribbles now become like tagline or whatever. But for the most part I, think like. Athletes are now viewed like the idea of like really stopped thinking about like do athletes Mr family like there's this idea that. It didn't even dawn on me until a couple of days ago that like these guys are in the bubble and and as these issues are going on like there their guys like seven year old son so that they wanNA talk to their son about what's going on in the world around them and they're not they're not with them. They've Dominican facetime but like that the anxiety that must be bubbling up for those guys that they can't like be there till just like hug their kids and it's almost like they've been extracted out of their garments to be away from them. You know what I mean so that that's The like you can see how it could could domino and Boileau one change I feel like it's happened in my lifetime as we as like you and I'd like people that are just Civilians. So to speak I, I, feel like we're more in tune with that. The humanity of athletes if that makes any sense like these are things. Yeah. Of course, you know because I for a long time just feels like you would struggle shows and they make millions of dollars who cares and it does feel like there is more of a cinnamon of lake. I don't know I I. See where you're coming from I. Feel bad for you for the Xyz like I never thought. You know I don't know that is a change that I think that I certainly maybe again maybe it's just I'm getting older maybe when I was little, I just thought of but. I. Don't know I never I sense that though in the world around me, Lake people care more about the human being behind the Jersey. Than Just Jersey itself, which is cool to see, and hopefully we continue to progresses for sure. Anyway we don't. We don't need the. We're not the guys talk to Jim. Jackson. Is he was he was there on the he's still there on the scene in the bubble we talked to him for about twenty minutes. I was a great interview really appreciative him giving us time here it is our our interview Jim Jackson. Are joining us now from inside the NBA bubble is former Ohio state. Jim Jackson. He is a broadcaster Fox sports colleague he was on he was on the call for MBA TV during the box magic game when the Milwaukee Bucks did not come out for the game and Jim I, just want to start their give us sense of what's going through your brain. I know the raptors we're kind of talking about maybe potentially sitting out of games. So this wasn't exactly a huge shock I would say but. Just. The general give us the rundown of like the Buxton come out to warm up. The clock is ticking down closer to zero, and then he finally realizes the real thing that's GonNa happen here. You pretty much. Nailed it. I mean for us we had our production meetings in the morning. got a chance to speak with the coaches both coaches Mike Boone Oser. No. So Steve Clifford. A little bit later, and after noon, we have three fifteen hit at the arena for MBA. And Martino and so guys are out with their pre kind warm up stretching. The trainer out there. Yes. Some coaches shaggy balls and both teams Orlando and Milwaukee were both present on the court. And then. We noticed A M B A League official. Walked to the court and bring the officiating crew over towards the sideline near half court and they had a conversation maybe. Three to four minutes maybe and Kinda see something was going on but you just didn't know what maybe was game related maybe it was something else we didn't know. So you fast forward Orlando's off the court. Off The court the game clock begins to tick down in Orlando comes back to the court. In the layup line and you know we're looking in Milwaukee not out time is kicking off not out not out..

"Yeah. Like they felt like they I don't think the buck said we're trying to make this statement for all of sports and we expect the WBZ to follow expect MLB to follow week speed I. Don't think they had that mine I. Think they thought they were gonNA forfeit a game against the magic they were going to go on about their day and that was going to be. There statement personally for them and I think that's why this whole thing has gotten. So many mixed messages and the rhetoric has gotten all confused because that's i. think that's where some of the players that weren't on the bugs had frustration because they wanted maybe a unified decision and now it has come out as unified decision. The League is jumped on the rest of the teams have jumped on it and it's become or. Altogether in this now the owners are trying to do more. We see that the Houston's going to open up their arena for voting for you know like as a place to get people registered to vote and for voting itself. So I mean those things are like trying to get tangible results. I mean it was the lieutenant governor from Milwaukee was on the phone with the bucks in the locker room they wanted to. Do a press conference to update you know the the the citizens of what was going on there. So I mean, this is a he want to talk about sports platforms and they like this is heavy this congress you know what I mean, and it's the NBA and these guys are basketball players and they're being put in this position. So it takes a lot of courage to do something to try to say something. And It's the moment it's. Criticism of them not having fully fleshed out plan is fair like listen it would be much much better if they did it'd be much better if the WNBA is what we're seeing with with the full out, we have our links have our platform. Here's what we're trying to of course. Of, course it would be more to have coherent points. We expect this this and this of course, but I don't think it takes away from the bigger picture, which is I think the Milwaukee Bucks, just felt helpless I think they look at themselves in a small market like Milwaukee, they obviously our kings genus. Is maybe the most powerful man Wisconsin like literally is or whatever like the Guyq? I. It's a small market situation. I guess Aaron. Rodgers would probably big little more important than him and got you get my point that this is like in their minds they're thinking. All right. We have a ton of influence maybe we don't have power maybe we can enact law maybe we can't but we do have something and we're helpless. We're seeing the situation unfolding and nothing's really happening. We gotta do something that's all it, and it's just like the the definition of insanity is going through their head like if we don't do something different, the same things are going to continue. So let's do something. What can we? What can we do in a bubble where thousands of miles away locked in this little bubble without our families and all that like what can we actually do over supposed to play this game? What if we don't play this game? That's something right like i. feel like that's kind of sparked it in. Unfair, then expect them to have like legislation fleshed out that they're going to now propose to the Wisconsin. Because that's profession. This is per, yeah. The personal reaction that doesn't. That's not their responsibility. Their responsibility is to use their platform to draw attention to a problem they did that and yes, ideally I completely I'm sitting here. I'M NOT GONNA. Pat The players on the back and say the one hundred percent handled this. Perfectly. I'm not saying that like a one day strike is the way. I'm not. This is a fix all the problems I'm not saying that at all but. It's not nothing tate. That's why I don't think this is something I. Think this matters I think and just in general that attitude of like. If one action can't definitively solve racism than what's the point of it seems to be a sentiment that's like existing in the world right now. You'll see people sarcastically. So that's that's the. Racism it's like like if if someone said I I started initiative I'm going to give a million dollars to intercity kids the responsibly ultra -gratulations you celebrations. Like that whole attitude is frankly just disgusting I mean. What would ever be solved if that was if that was how society worked at large, not racism just anything in general took like one act to make change in this world. That's not how it works. It takes baby steps it takes banks changing and certainly never in my life I seen a play, an NBA playoff because it's never happened and NBA team strike a playoff game before. So whether that like you know, I'm not I'm not gonNA pretend like suddenly now like there's going to be widespread change like all these people that are racists and bigots and have so much hate in their heart or something like. Open their eyes and be like, Oh, I changed my mind at all but it's different. It's it's something that's never happened before and it's like shaking up something and whether has a massive impact or not. It is one tiny little step towards the greater goal, which may ultimately be unattainable in our lifetime but you still have to go for it. It's our obligation as humans as as as a society at large to progress towards that goal of. Having these issues resolved right. We have to unpack at some point and there's no better than now as Chris Webber said. So eloquently, you know, I have to see it to believe it. And we need to see some change in the players. WanNa. See some change and that's what they're really calling out in change doesn't happen overnight I mean that we we all wish that it was that simple but I mean it is so tethered to the world that we live in diller point I would make is like I was I was having a conversation with the buddy about this because they were kind of. They WANNA, support the players, but then you have the thought of like. What is this doing? How was it? What does this accomplishing because in their mind? They argued that basically everyone who's like on the players side. So to speak or like is is a you know an ally in these issues is already on your side like the strike is not going to now give me on your side I was already on your side and the people that aren't on the side have already to doubt and like they're the people that when they NBA strikes, they say good why don't you strike every year I don't watch you anyway. So, who are you recruiting over and? The way I interpreted all this was that this the the trying to win over the general public was black lives matter on your on your shooting shirts it was kneeling during the anthem. It was putting black messages on your like those were all moves to sort of win over the general public and try to get people this felt to me like a move to get the attention of the powers that be in in. Wisconsin. In the State of Wisconsin, you know what I mean like. This this this this was the Milwaukee Bucks saying we want our owners. We want the ownership group, the people that stand to make money off of US plane. In the playoffs, we want them to be to to take a step back realize that they have massive influence with the deep pockets that they have whether it's and I'm not saying there's a problem you can just throw money at but we all know that like rich people can make phone calls the poor people can't and like. Maybe tried to spark change that way. That's what I interpreted like this. They were trying to get the attention of the every day average American who has kind of already made up their mind on where they stand on this these sorts of issues I feel like they were trying.

"And it's interesting too because none of this scripted you know I mean going into the bubble the there were conversations where they had to work through it and then make a decision this. This was very spontaneous. Yourself Jim. You watched the Milwaukee Bucks come out warm up for the game. You know it's not like they sat in the hotel earlier and said, this is it. We're done like this. This was this was. Evolving real time right right. Before your eyes yesterday that's the part is associated ordinary to me and the that you know we still don't understand fully is how you go from actually warming up for the game and then in short order deciding you know what? It's time to pull the plug. It's time to do something more extreme here. Because everything else we've done hasn't made a mid enough of of of a ripple well I I notice Howard if you live long enough you're GonNa go through a lot you an experience a lot that you're probably unexpected I mean the duty about life is that. You have to figure out how to navigate just like we had to navigate through. Covert Corona to navigate through SARS we had to navigate whatever hurricanes. Life is not meant to be perfect. You'RE GONNA have your challenges. What is your mindset as you dealing with these challenges? Is it ought negative Because if it is, that's what the outcome is going to be because that's how you think. How do you deal with circumstances that are uncomfortable you know When you put in that situation, you really don't know what tomorrow is going to bring. That's the beauty, but there's also the travesty of light is not going to be perfect. No matter if it was perfect, it's like a movie script. We can write it down to here it is. Here's my life is perfect. Everything goes right impossible. So how you navigate through a deal with it and yesterday was like Whoa the blow it was like, okay. Let me collect my thoughts get myself together. But An haven't seen any in regards to. Making change because history tells us throughout our lifetime these events will come and how you handle them in how you move forward. What's a lot about who we are? And I'll just say this is a close. I always preface these these statements by saying it's not my place to say what how the players should use their voices, their leverage, and I, trust that they will do obviously what they feel is best. Of Hope on some level that That they do continue to to that. They do restart the season within the bubble that they finish this out only because I feel like. Being on TV every day does have a certain value to it. Maybe it hasn't been a nut obviously that's the frustration. Right when we've tried all this and hasn't been enough I still for me just as a media person in somebody who's covered this league for twenty three years with somebody who is just a you know a citizen of this country who sees these things unfold like they're you know they're platform is bigger and more powerful. When they're on TV every day than when they're out of season and pull your plug. Now I do think you know jeopardize is a lot of things. It's their own their own income, which they could be using to help channel back into their communities and into political efforts it leaves them off of TV because now there's no season to talk about and there's just this this fallow period and I also do think because of the coronavirus pandemic everything. We've we've been seeing the League is you know Scott Financial Challenges Anyway the last thing you WanNa do is create permanent harm to the league that also then harms the players because that will undercut your platform going forward and the the issues that are concerning everyone right now rightfully aren't going away as you and I both know sadly the next few months. So if you're going to restart if you're starting the next season in December January February march. We're still going to be grappling with the same issues. The same injustices. Hopefully, we're a little further along a few months from now than we are today. But we know it takes longer. and. So you know if whatever the end game is I just I I hope that they hold onto the things that make them. Influence. To. Give them that leverage and I think that that is. Having two games being on TV as awkward as that must be an feel for them and I think getting back on the court whether it's tomorrow or a couple days I think it will be I think it'll be difficult for them. I have to imagine you've made this big stand and then to try to resume normalcy again. I can't imagine what they're going through those conversations. What what? What is normalcy thousand, twenty nothing normal about it you know and maybe they collectively band together to be able to if they do plan to boycott to utilize the social activities whether it's social media, other networks to continue this conversation collectively as a group. Okay within the all these NBA cities. You know what I mean. There's ways that you can still be effective now that you have the world's attention in regards to this boycott that you'll be able to utilize any outlet media outlet you want. Continuously moving forward. If, you have the right plan in place and we don't know what that is, but there's always. Change comes with an uncomfortable sacrifice. If they were comfortable everybody would do it. You know and you have to put your mind in that place where it's not going to be easy. Yes. We're going to do something in the short term. But it's worth the gain in the long term. To accomplish our goal. At. Hand and that's what's important. Are you going to be back on TV today? Regardless? In Sport shirts and coats or you are you prepared to go to the arena and just I don't I'm here I'm doing a lot of interviews. This morning have another one coming up in a minute so I'm just I'm here Bro I'm here waiting. Willing to do what it takes to talk so. You know I'm here. Yeah but I I. wouldn't want it any other way trust me I'm blessed. Yeah..

"August twenty seventh the NBA in a different kind of limbo. Three playoff games that are scheduled today. I don't suspect any of them are going to happen. There were three games of course postponed. And seen in a series of events that you can only describe as extraordinary. Historic moving and it's a chain of events. Of course, it started with the Milwaukee Bucks deciding not to play their game in the afternoon against the Orlando Magic and that led to the rest of the Games, the rest of the team's deciding to play either there have been meetings there will be accessory cordless at ten fifteen in the morning eastern time there's more meetings to come players owners separately. I don't know where this is all leading as I record this but. Hoping to get a better grasp of the situation with my guest today, he is a broadcaster for Turner for TNT an NBA TV, and he was there in the arena yesterday alongside Bob Fitzgerald as this all unfolded live on live TV. It's Jim Jackson former, of course, NBA and broadcaster now Jim. Thank you for taking some time morning? I don't even really know where to begin and there's so much. Still as I said to come today, we don't know where this is leading, but can you Gimme just your your your thoughts as you saw this unfold yesterday and as you wake up morning trying to process where the NBA is with respect to this movement and this moments and you know what this means for the League right now and when was respect to obviously you know the greater issue surrounding this. Hour thank thank you for. Having me on to be able to share some of the insights that I was able to experience. You know yesterday during this historic event. Yesterday honestly, we're going to the game you business as usual. Now, we did hear some rumblings that maybe that's around. So Raptors were thinking about a boycott but. We really didn't put a lot of credence to it because the information was you know kind of scattered we really couldn't confirm anything. So we just you know what along our production meetings, our coaches meetings Are. pregame meetings. We even did a hit with MBA TV right around three fifteen in of previewing the gay. So, we got to the radio. We see customarily teams come out especially guys who may not be playing they come on and get a workout in. So get shots up bent some of the players key players come out and get warmed up get some shots, work coaches, some receipt Orlando Magic thing I wanted to court the Milwaukee Bucks on the other end doing their thing kind of warm it up and then Milwaukee. Court the players, Orlando still shooting around so we don't really pay much attention to it. Now we do see NBA official from the League. Office. pull the appreciating fruits to the side of have according to start to talk to him, which is somewhat We don't really see that we're looking at. Okay. What's going on still just not really digesting the full gravity of what's about to And Ando heads back to the locker room get their final game instructions. The game clock is ticking down. ORLANDO. Then returns to the court for their pregame warmups. Well, ironically, the Milwaukee Bucks have yet to step on the court. So we're still talking to kind of paying attention to it, but then gets under ten minutes under eight minutes under five minutes books are. Still not on a court finally buzzer sounds. Orlando Walker the bench no Milwaukee. Bucks that's when we got word of the players have decided. That they're going to boycott and he talked it Orlando Magic know they were heading back to the locker room on agreement that they were going to boycott. The game hints was trickled down a little bit later that The remaining games would also be Kenzo and it was extraordinary just watching you and bob kind of processing this in real time, and then I just a lot of I think eloquent presentations actually by by all of you and Chris. Webber coming in. Isaiah Thomas Coming in just contextualized. You're there to work the game and two obviously dis- you know to cover the event as it's unfolding, or in this case, the lack of the the game itself how much was going through your head to about you know you you've been a player in this league you're a black man in America who I'm sure certainly feeling the same things that you're the players out there feeling as this led to this extraordinary decision. Are you. Are you processing all that in real time yourself headed occurred to you to that. This is something where. You're going to take a stand maybe this is the way to go. How did how did you feel about just you know that aspect of it about the effectiveness of it Well you know just again I'll be fifty this year. Okay. So raised a young man twenty, seven years old. College basketball young black men. So I've had many conversations in regards to your standing socially as a black man in society and what that means. Okay. So look at the players around the same age as my son a lot. In what they're experiencing, what they're going through. And it was pretty appropriate on time. I would say that it was the Milwaukee Bucks who chose to take a stance because of what happened in Kenosha Wisconsin. They reached out to their ownership to get in touch with the attorney, General of Wisconsin, the district attorney in Kenosha and say, we need more to be done. And what was going to mind? I was proud. I was proud because a lot of times we as athletes entertainers. You know are expected to. Receive Money member. Great lifestyle. And allowed the politicking to be done by people who quote unquote no more than we do. Don't use your voice, your platform.

And he keeps somehow avoiding the intense heat of that spotlight. I don't think we've had a comment on the record from Daniel Snyder. Probably in a year maybe. I'm trying to think the last time Daniel. Snyder met with the media. I think he had a statement of what happened with The Washington Post story. But if I'm the NFL, why do I continue to protect Daniel Snyder like what is the upside of keeping Daniel Snyder as an owner? And now you have a report in The Washington. Post. That back in two, thousand, eight, the cheerleaders went on a photo shoot and apparently there's video them that somebody took surreptitiously and that was it four Daniel Snyder or did he get a copy of this? So at some point. This is, why is the commissioner giving Daniel Snyder far more leeway than he would a player I can't do govern everybody the same. How about you put Daniel Snyder on the commissioner's exempt. WHO's embarrassing the League more Daniel Snyder or Antonio Brown. At some point. The. NFL just gotTa say the other owners have to say this isn't good business for us or maybe they're so protected that it doesn't matter like business is going to be great. "We are not going to have a poll question today just didn't know if there was an appropriate poll question given the temperature here. In, the sports world. In a but this has been there for a couple of days and we started to see some of the signs of maybe what happened yesterday and last night playing out prior to yesterday and last night. Chris Haynes from Yahoo Sports has done a wonderful job in covering the NBA not only on the court off the court in the bubble and he talked about maybe there's some teams getting together maybe the Celtics and the raptors were going to sit out their first game they're scheduled to play today I. Don't think there's going to be basketball today, but we'll keep an eye on all of this. It's it's all fluid you have the players meeting this. Morning the NBA Board of Governors meeting this morning, and we're going to try to connect with as many people as we can just to give you an update on this Jim Jackson who worked for NBA TV was on the air yesterday and I got a heads up prior to this that you gotTa. Watch what's happening with the box and I flipped over to NBA TV, and all of a sudden in its mid afternoon it's four o'clock and I go. Okay there on the floor now, they're not on the floor and the magic were on the floor the bucks went into their locker, room? And I wasn't sure what was happening but I got the feeling because I didn't know if there was a technical delay. But they went into their locker room and then Orlando went into its locker room and then I realized they're not going to be basketball this afternoon. and. Then I, reached out to a source who said there's not going to be basketball tonight either and probably not tomorrow meaning today. And I don't know where we stand, but we'll cover it the best we can. Jim Jackson will join US coming up here in about fifteen minutes. I thought NBA did a wonderful job with this yesterday, Sam Mitchell and Jim Jackson because this was real time. This was a real moment and this was something that was happening right in front of us. I'M TUNING IN TO WATCH A game. There is no game, and then you want to know what is going on behind the scenes. The Milwaukee Bucks were meeting and he'll the bucks guard then came out and gave this statement. L.. Let me see if we're. We're still working on getting all the sound from yesterday. So will. Bring that to you here coming up in a moment, but the actions of the NBA Wmba in baseball players took last night didn't come out of nowhere. The decision to walk out was really part of progression towards social activism and we've seen this from athletes in recent years. So here's George Hill the box yesterday after the game was postponed. For And demand all for be held accountable for this to occur it is imperative for the Wisconsin State legislator to reconvene after months of inaction and take the meaningful manage to address police accountability. Criminal Justice Reform. So. That's George Hill, the Milwaukee Bucks but not long after Lebron James and Dwayne. Wade Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony opened up the espy's remember that summer two, thousand sixteen, and this was in large part due to the reaction of Mohammed Ali passing away Mohammed, Ali passed away. And I remember coming in I. Don't know if it was the next day or soon after and I said, you're starting to get a groundswell of athletes realizing what Muhammad Ali did and when he did it and why he did it and how he did it and how it affected him. There were consequences with what he did. He did not want to go to the Vietnam War. He was a conscientious objector, but he knew what he was putting on the line and that is his heavyweight title. He was in the prime of his career and he gave it up and. They wanted to put him in jail. They took away his title when you had a Mexico City. Tommie Smith and John Carlos. They won medals. And they raise their fists with the Black Glove on it. They knew what they were sacrificing. Colin Kaepernick when he took a knee, I, don't know if the time he knew what he was sacrificing, but he soon found out what he was sacrificing. And now these players I think are at a crossroads of. What are they willing to sacrifice? How important is this? And I think we're GONNA find out here in the next twenty four hours. But I do think the passing of Muhammad Ali where if you're younger a younger generation, do don't realize exactly how powerful polarizing he was. And I think when Chris Paul Dwayne Wade Lebron Carmelo opened up the s by speaking about social justice. They were inspired by Mohammed Ali. Lebron said that the only true way to Honour Ali was doing what he was doing. And taking a larger role in social activism because Ali was stripped of his heavyweight title because of his decision not to go to the war circumstances certainly are different for today's athletes. But there are clear parallels and we're GONNA see just how far the players are willing to go how much they're willing to sacrifice because that is what this is about. It's going to be an eventful week just like Ali. What we're seeing this week has a chance to jump off the sports pages in the history books here teams taking votes I was. On a phone call last night with a prominent agent. And he's waiting to hear from some of his clients and even said to me at one point if such and such calls, I'm going to have to hang up. And the agents aren't in the bubble, they're the lifeline because these players WanNa know like. Can. I do this Am I sacrificing my salary? Can I get out of the bubble like what happens here the ramifications we've never seen this before. And he said this is front burner in. It's so bleep in hot, you won't believe it. And I said well, I do believe it and he said there are teams that want to shut down the season. Now the players are probably the clippers and the Lakers. All the players are in a ballroom here and Lebron walks out and you probably read this guy who who've have done a great job Chris Haynes broke the story Chris. Mannix has done a wonderful job in covering this. So I want them to get the credit, but I was told Lebron was walking out. This was a clippers lakers. Led meeting is far as they wanted everybody to know where they stood in that they did not want to continue the season. I. Don't know how they feel today I don't know what's going to happen with the commissioner. I, don't know the role. The owners are going to play here too, and the owners do need to play a role here. But if you have a basketball game in less than seven hours, these guys gotta get ready. And I. Don't think you're going to have basketball today. This feels like. These teams postponed. So these teams will postpone everybody is going to postpone a game. So the nuggets jazzar suppose played for Eastern. And then you have yesterday's games now they're not canceled. They were just postponed. That's key to understand that because there was also legal language that this agent was telling me about that he had to navigate through. If there was a forfeit if the bucks could have forfeited that game if Orlando wanted to take them up on it and say, all right, you don't WanNa play then it's a forfeit. ORLANDO. Would have those players would have looked bad in that situation. But where we are now where we're going to be in twenty four hours from now. Top to handicap and I'm not GonNa try to speculate and I don't WanNa. Tell you how to feel in this situation I don't want to look at the players and say, this is how hey, you should be out there playing I can only tell you how they're feeling. I can only bring you some of the interviews, the sound from some of these players I'm going to bring back doc rivers, comments that was on Wednesday prior to their game with the mavs it's one of the most important sports speeches I've ever heard. And maybe it's not fair to just labeled a sports speech because it was a powerful speech by Doc rivers and what he was saying and his message that he was sending. And we'll have that for you.

Mohammed Ali NBA Lebron James basketball Chris Paul Dwayne Wade Lebron Muhammad Ali Jim Jackson Milwaukee Bucks Chris Haynes Wade Chris Paul clippers Doc rivers George Hill Lakers Yahoo Sports Orlando WanNa Colin Kaepernick US Mexico City

"Like I don't know maybe five years I can't remember when that often. But so for the first few years, we literally paid by Walt Disneyworld. So and the rumor was was that we actually paid are ways we didn't have to work because apparently because we were part of a show that's. What I would hear way lastly. Well. Yeah we didn't even have to be doing anything really and they were fine and happy because you know people were coming. To. See us now when we got larger and we're doing feature films of course. But when we first started, they were like, oh, yeah and and but there was a real dichotomy between us and how we were treated the animators and that included cleanup that everybody in the studio and everybody else in the theme park right and so we didn't like literally there were people that had our animators that got their keys but car keyed right employee's Disneyworld flat tires we were definitely the spoiled kids we were we were. Because that they they made a rule about. Anybody that I think the rule was anybody that came from California like Marquette or something guys that we were talking about fake could keep their facial hair. It was called the grandfather in facial hair. So if you started and you already had a beard and some guys drew grew a beard I, don't know if you did this. But some guys grew a beard or moustache knowing they were going to start because if you started with that, you could keep it and as an Intel you did off, you could keep it but if you shaved it off, then the the policy was at least the beginning. Then, you had to keep it on the stay we had to stick with 'cause. Drank thing. The dress I never had a beard or moustache. It was the weirdest like they couldn't wrap their heads around that and Walt Disney world all the cast members they would see people walk around behind the stage with little buttons that we're supposed to wear name tags to none of us did that. But if you had a name tag on and you had a mustache or something, then we'd just have a meltdown. Just didn't compete. I got even worse if you remember when they finally did lift the grooming policy from us. I had hair down to my butt in a beard and yet and and everybody had crazy long hair and. They just it drove him nuts. It's absolutely nuts. Well, we looked a lot like the people that were on the other side of the glass taken the tour, a lot of us aware like. Tank towers and short. Wear whatever we wanted and we looked like we just and we got stopped a lot. You remember that to go on a park where you go. Beyond behind the scenes and then into the park area, and then you're supposed to have a name tag on and stuff like no, we take our name tags off. That's right. So when we went into the park to do a park walk or even go out, we could go on a ride during our lunch hour or go to one of the restaurants we had to take our name tags off and then we can walk around out in the park, but there was people that would stop us. Here, you're supposed to be back here. You know I would get stop all the time people were always like, yeah. Why is this guy look like you and are you guys supposed to be back here? Well. Yeah it was just a really sticky and what made it worse was Mark Max Howard, who we all love is that All that would get rifle to him like he would get emails and phone call. Everybody in the parks, all these other supervisors and other departments of Walt, Disneyworld with these complaints about your animators and mostly because they're people were complaining to them just basically because they hated us and they just were like, didn't understand it there. So. What ended up happening is that Max then would just yell at these people like I from what I remember he would just give it to them and go. No. This is why they're special Blah Blah Blah fear people that are making this amount can't do the you know can't take it with these people are especially trained to bottle blonde he would really defend us but like he started getting mad about it because he came from theater. So he worked with artists and he new artists. Yeah. The environment, and so he that's what he was protecting. He was protecting that we artists. happening. Spoiled Child. Created this such a hate for for us because so many people have gotten reprimanded through the years at this mystique went around us whenever we take a park walk that they would like practically get out of our way. We played roller hockey After Max, kicks out because slapshot into your glass window and we'd play behind what was blizzard beach or where was dolphin the swan and it's like it's like no helmets on no one had half the pads on and the security guards would pull up what are you guys doing here we go. We're from animation they go all right may leave they kind of like We were very. Howard after us no. No. After a while, that's all you'd have to say this security guard like we'd be at midnight parks already shut down. Do you remember nighttime walks during overtime? We'd stayed midnight San Lion King and and the park is completely shut down it was the best time and during the summer to it. Great movie ride we crawl. Walk in. Walk through it and and that of course, we get caught almost every time by some security guard either after a while they just let's do it was like oh? Hey. Yeah animation and A- go ahead. That's right. Also playing wiffle ball out by the old commissary. There was a little grass area. We were playing baseball out there, and then the one we started this we were I thought I thought Disney animation. Florida. was really good at dumb games. We would. We would. We just start off with darts and. Darts. So another guy that we always played Aaron and I would also play dumb games with was trae Finney and there was these these things that came out a little nerf footballs and they had these little tails on and there it was big spirals animal how we started this game, but it was like if you've ever played Frisbee Golf we would play Frisbee golf sort of with these texts things and they were building tower terror at the time. So that property is Disney imagineering property at that point you have no, you're not supposed to be there, but it was a good hole. So we wanted to use like further for golf course. So one time. Heave this ball at Aaron through in this. Nice. With senator was like a really I mean Magnolia maybe really beautiful. Magnolia nine Aulia tree and it was like I mean it was. Just. Planning it like, yeah. Just planted in errands errands little ball was stuck up in the tree. So he's trying to get the bodies shaken this thing like it's. Or something and this guy rounded frail and he's got a yellow like workmen's hat on. He starts screaming at Aaron and I remember a train I can't we had our balls. walkaway sheepishly you guys. You guys you guys two great away. Real construction working guy with. Real one and he was yelling at you and you just yell batum good my own. Animation. Start shaking the tree, and then the ball comes out and makes one last call keeps you on because it was defiant and he was. I'm leaving I'm like. Well, that was kind of really. escalated. Dumb to establish yourself man yeah, we had. We had these like. Darts became a big thing in Florida and so one guy. Mike the May kill the idea that we would have this dark tournament everyone took a team from the NFL and so ever NFL team played that week you'd have to find that person in the studio was their home game like those savings with Amazon cardinals. Pick the board they wanted to play on, but it got so.

"Jewelry said I see I remember it as Yo princess style used to live in England or something like that but he All I heard about it. Remember the guy says he didn't say that but greg always said Yo. So I I don't know how you say Yo? Yeah and the thing is that we all know the story and it always starts with you so it had to happen. Every sentence gray said started with Yo. So that's probably happened and I remember it as yoed. Lady Di. I remember. Not Princess di well, you weren't there Tony. So you're here I heard about it at Burbank. So that's how far. But I also thought it was interesting how certain stars would come in And certain stars were completely relaxed. They were kind of they would merge in like Mark Hamill once. and. He was big in town. Yeah. He was there a Tuesday guide to Cosworth David. Guitars David. Even come in a couple of times he's Kinda hanging out because he loved animation but then there are some people who just wanted to get some photos with themselves by the animation desks and Yeah and that was. Sitting. I was sitting at my animation desk. We were doing we're doing some test animation for hair my soup, which was that Roger, rabbit cartoon that we're developing. Here my soup. Go ahead and this guy comes up behind me he goes aired. It's time to go to lunch turned around. It was. Robin Williams. Honeymooning that. I come up. Yeah. Do you remember he ended up because everybody thought now? Okay. So little backstory Aaron Robin, Williams his voice, an animated version of him was a part of the tour for many years like the what was playing on the screens was this whole thing? Are Something Yeah Him and Walter Cronkite were in it and anyway. So we knew we knew Robin from that for for years and so I remember when he came in because we thought okay he's not GonNa he's GonNa, play it up or anything. Do you remember he was like running around the studio and? Performing K. Robin Williams yeah I remember. All the people behind the glass and it was an audience and he just started performing and it was awesome. That was so. Bad. I missed it because I was on my honeymoon, my white there are two things I missed honeymoon one was Robin Williams jumping onto glass the other one was chuck volmer giving blood and he was chuck wagner is a very tall. Guy And I missed this. Well I I I started. To that. So check volver. I used that we used to give black. The Blizzard at. So Chuck was with me and I said come on man. Let's go get a blah blah before he goes. No. He was a little bit nervous I said come on. Let's go get some blood while chuck you can see Chuck. So thin you can see US Food Digest. He's He's like six one two and he's about a buck twelve. And so we go and give blood. And It's so we go back and we had to shoot. US A scene shot. And so we're we're at the Lyon lamb under the glass and we're sheeting and we're just talking about our experiences giving blended out chuck had never done it and and so I started talking about passing out y'all have you ever passed out before and I was giving my experiences of passing out. It has I'm telling the story about passing out chuck goes. I. Don't feel so good I say how funny? Is just roll back and he fell back against the column into slid down the column and then its head just. To smack, the floor. Like convulsing. On the floor is this tour for the. This all in front of the audience. This is. The audience but the but if you remember During the tour those the TV's that were set up and it was Robin Williams. Talking on the TV. So yeah look when when chuck went down I looked up at the audience and they're all looking at the TV. So three all grabbed chuck drag them behind the desk. Resuscitate. Him. Show must go on and I do remember just a backup to the Robin Williams is I remember the tour coming through and they thought Robin was a part of it because he's on the screen and then they see him running around I remember that was the joke is that they probably think every tour comes through Robbins down there. It was like part of the show how lucky they were I mean there was kind of the pros and cons of working at A. A theme park. There was a lot of pros and cons, but working at a theme park but also being an animation studio. There was always this kind of a bit of a fight between are we a legitimate animation studio at Disney studio or are we? An Amusement Park. Tour Andrex. But you kind of had fun with that I. Remember a lot of times when we talked about having lunch on the balcony or the behind the animation building, they had tables and stuff. That's where we were definitely out in the theme park more even though we're behind scenes if as it was called. But you would hear like when they had tower that's tower of terror. Guys remember that you'd be having lunch and every I don't know what was it every seven issued here people go. A theme park to was every day. Erin become by my desk and go Kay sue park I really can't do today man I really I'm really busy I can't Doodo come on park walk and cave-in blocks. and. Walk around the park and duty rise if the summer heat of the summer. Do Park walks ten years, and here's where my ego was definitely crushed which for a good reason it's I kept thinking I was by the glass because they told me to do one tour of duty and I won't say this was but someone had come motion meltdown being the glass put back for being the beast and Aladdin on the glass and I had this thought initially when park walks on the park someone's GonNa go hey are you the guy behind the glass like please? Yes but I'm on my break known never The Guy Behind the glass. So nobody was not I was very forgettable. Recognized they just didn't want US right. On. That made a big deal though I mean. That's what I wanted to talk about. So there is a real So here's the thing when we first got there especially that first year. Oh my gosh. They didn't know what to do with us. Okay. So we were disneyworld employees when it first started remember that we became it was Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida Inc.

"They hired and one of the things that really helped that I think is that they hired one of the guys that was like. I'm I'm trying to think of Max Howard what his position was on who framed Roger, rabbit. I. Think he was production manager or something like that. He had just come off a WHO framed Roger Rabbit and Ran England. He was Richard Williams Studio Richard Williams studio. He ran the London crew out there and people really loved made a good impression on the Disney executives. So they hired this guy from London to come over to Florida and really run the studio and you would have thought that Max Howard had run. You know ten twenty studios before he was so polished at he was so good at it. He was so good with the crew with the artists he made everybody feel he created a lot of that atmosphere that we're talking about family friendly atmosphere that was parties and you know engaging things and things where he was trying to get people to communicate and talk and. He would walk the floors and he wasn't always locked in his office. You could see him he had a real open door policy He was a big part of it, and then there was other people too Paul Karachi who came in who was kind of training guy ran a lot of the the early internships and things. Frank. Gladstone also was a big. So they're they're starting to become this management that wasn't really like management and I think that's one of the key elements that we had there at the Florida Studio Yeah I've never had a job since that that was like that. No friends with the story about about snacks though and I work with Rick Sluiter who's a guy we worked with an Florida for a Lotta Years Rix. Really. I if when Rick was was he? Tents. So whatever he does, he learn Spanish Spanish I'm GonNA, Learn Guitar. So he's kind of person and I always kind of admired that in rick. But he was telling a story about Max because Max guy who who would cover for us a lot 'cause we were like literally like. It was like a storm or candle we were, and we would like a like, for instance, Rico Pio Tony West. Tracy Lee I think Joe Pappy was in there got caught in the great movie ride taking a picture of the sculpture that Ruben Prokopiev's dad just sculpted of Humphrey. BOGART and. So awesome can just call in and they get caught into the office and he's like got a call from you know security you. Don't do that. Again, he would be really soft and certain things. You wouldn't want to cross them again but Rick Rick Story about and you're involved this Tom because we had for a while he started playing street hockey. Remember this you were working I think it was pretty sure it was you while your window and he was a Canadian and love hockey because he was intense about it a slapshot and a hit the window I believe you were working tom and it smashed the first plane of the double pane window and so Max called him and it was office and he goes manuals. Maxi grape but man did not want to cross Max because Max at assigned like it's like a good parent like you know you could have some leeway and he said what? He said something Max about how like come on. Max. If we were playing cricket, you mean the first guy out there and it got in this grill. Brought it. Up Again. Like. If you had a great way of like he gave you a lot of freedom. He backed you up to have fun like we'd have over ban people will complain the tour and he'd say, Hey, you just saw historical moment. This goes back to the history of nation. Force. Say. Takes that takes avery lost his eye. When Push them one too many times. This is where you stop and Rick's that I never. Crossed. I. Raise your hand. If you didn't see that side of Max at least once I know I did it and it was during negotiation. We. Go in there especially, as things got really heated in the animation industry and Jeffrey laughed and around that time. I remember going in to negotiate with. Max. Or a little bit before that. So it was at the beginning and. because. Eventually, he gave that job up give somebody else Mary? Kay I think it was and uh but anyway, I remember negotiating with him and he just Got Ice cold all of a sudden and it was like that fund British. Cute. You Know Nice. Guy. When Keep. There was there was a challenge tell. You could tell that there was a point that somebody in California his one of his boss said, you can only go to this high and when I hit that point and I was pushing for further. He was just like. It's not gonNA happen. You know and I was just like, Oh okay. This is okay. I'll take less. He set the. Course for that studio that it always maintained a bit of Max in it because. I. Think. I can't he had. He was a great leader because he knew where to pull the strings and where to let loosen up the grip a time. So I thought that was great about him. So in the beginning just said again a little bit more of a picture for the audience. When the studio I got set up, there was a certain amount of what they call kind of the gray hair veterans. That they took from transported from the the Burbank Studio and move them over to be with. Basically the rest of the crew was all very young right out of college like we're talking about. That was all of us. We were the right out of an internship starting to work on features and shorts and things like that, and it was it was set up to do just shorts at first but. As the the Burbank Studio got more and more behind on some of their features rescuers down under being the first one that was happening during that time. They decided well, these guys are actually done a really good job. We kind of proved ourselves on roller coaster rabbit, which was the very first Roger. Rabbit short to be done in the Florida studio and they liked it so much the quality was there. They said, well, let's start giving them. Let's give them a little piece of rescuers down under and we had guys like and when I mentioned the grey hairs that were kind of the the mentor figures the older more experienced guys that were at the Studios Marquette Marquette was the all time. You know he was the granddaddy right? He was the main Guy and for him I. Think it was a matter of I wanna go and you know. Kind of proven..

"Do how much you think that was in conversation as drunk he was building this getting us up together combine all of that oh it's already it's already just what i'm saying it's one of those it's a wink wink you're going to put the nfl network there you're gonna put your headquarters there we're going to get a final four final well that's why why would an la stadium beat domed of course have it so you can have a final final four jim jackson i are doug gottlieb headed to the final four okay so there are two new nfl rules that have been passed the first is that a catch is now a catch as the going to the ground part of the catch has been taken away so if if y'all we all agree dez caught it against the packers now he officially caught it if it happens in two thousand eighteen jesse james yes steelers yes caught the football the football and made a play to get it across now according to the rules that this year it wasn't a catch according to the rules but we all know it was a catch so i'm glad they corrected especially being silly elephant well and and and my statement i made the sun cowherd show was it was such a bad rule but it would it would have to take it would have to take a super bowl being affected in order for it to happen now it affected who played in suppo previously possible as brian and maybe the pittsburgh steelers they didn't get home field advantage because of it but they actually kinda changed the rule on the flight in the super bowl this year no which is like the dirtiest part about it right where they're like you know this is a really dumb rule we're just gonna pretend like it doesn't exist and we're gonna call it a catch because everybody in the world thinks it's a catch and so they made it official with the with the rule adjustment but but the one that's maybe more interesting.

"Michael terminable over and we're not going to beat ourselves and honestly this year there's probably one of the best defensive teams that nobody's really talking about that's what allowed them when the first two games when they weren't shooting well jim jackson westwood one fox sports here on the richeisenshow before return to tonight what do you make out of kentucky not shaking hands i mean i don't like it i mean because if when you win you're celebrating okay and you shake hands and you do everything you wanna do the losing team comes to you when you lose you lose with dignity okay let me you some sixty seven or go to lose there's only one is go walk away and be happy coach john calipari should have got those guys and bring them back out the locker room and went out there and shook their hands because we're all we all hate to lose the got wanted to lose michigan that we beat them twice but you know what i respect for that of the locker room and i shook their head and our coach one go allows not to do it anyway so i think it is a sign of disrespect because when you're winning in your on top everything is great but when you lose moves or some dignity how come that doesn't happen in the pros never been part of the nba i know individually you may go up to a friend to somebody you know and tell them you see it a lot more i think in today's game with a lot of guys after the game having conversations and talking right no before when i came in we might point of finger but like i game and walk all now a lot of guys really interact after game because they grew a plan together.
