"Head coach Robert Saleh and Paul Rudd big chiefs fan on there. Did Robert Robert salon talk about taking receipts and yeah, okay. But didn't the jets earn that, that criticism? How does he, of course? How does he say way over his skis? Are you kidding? He was way over his skis. And I positioned it that way. What are your four and 14 taking receipts of what? And he says, look, there's a million podcasts. There are a thousand. I'm not telling you to listen to all of them. It's pretty good right now. I feel pretty good. Salah was awesome. Was candid. And he says, basically, I said it. And I immediately regretted it. I felt it out of his mouth and was like, wait. Yeah. And he's like, I wish you didn't go that way. And I wish we were done talking about that, and yet he thinks the players might have made of listened and felt a little bit of that. And that's all intangible stuff that like, hey, if he believes in us, maybe the facts are what they are, there are three and on the road, they've beaten the browns in their building, the Steelers in their building. This went to Lambeau and had a 21 year old sauce gardener who doesn't know any better wearing a cheese head around Lambeau. Salah said the receipts line, it was parodied widely here in New York City. And I think he himself knows it was a, it was a regrettable comment. And yet in a weirdest of ways, it's going to come back looking like the Jim fossil guarantee from so many years ago or Mark Messi in game 6. They've turned it around ever since. Yeah. The Mac Jones Bailey zappy patriots drama, who's the offensive coordinator who's the quarterback? Do we have a real quarterback controversy? What do you think? Maybe. Monday they play and there has not been an announcement on who's going to go. And I think Mac is close to being healthy. I'll tell you this. If there was a big gap between Mac and the other option at quarterback, whether it was foyer or zappy when he got injured, it's much smaller now. No one is talking about Belichick in a way that they can reveal the true facts about what it is. I'll just say this from sources around the team and sources within that building. There's a lot of love for zappy, as well as Mac. Mac, I would imagine is going to get an opportunity to get that gig back, but I would think the leash is a lot shorter after what zappy has done zappy has come in. And he has played against two inferior teams, the Lions and the browns, so you have to keep that in mind, but he has not made mistakes, and he has, you know, right at the ship after it looked like it was sinking in max last game. So all facts are out there that Bailey's happy has played objectively better than Mac Jones was playing. The question is, long term, is this max job?

"Being the inflation environment. The cool part of inflation is proving to be sticky and persistent. We're already seeing a reduction in forecasts. Earnings expectations growth expectations will be proved to be way, way, way to be bullish. In the grand scheme of things, the fed strategy and the domestic inflation story here dominates. This is Bloomberg surveillance with Tom Keene, Jonathan farrow, and Lisa Abramovich. Countdown to retail sales, good afternoon, good afternoon, if I'm going to do the two word open. I don't have British accent. Good morning. This is Bloomberg surveillance on Bloomberg TV and radio John farrow Lisa Abram with saint Tom Keane. John farrow off Tom Keane very much here with us. John is off on an assignment. I am looking right now toward retail sales to figure out whether we get a confirmation of the robustness of the economy that's going to lead the fed to be more hockey. I'm going to call it the glass and my report. Jim glass went to JPMorgan and Michelle Meyer at Mastercard on the same page. Here is the data. Here's what we see and what it says is a buoyant American consumer. How many people push against that? Well, pushing against it, not of its buoyancy that they're seeing. But what the fed has to do to get inflation under control given that consumers aren't getting the message that they need to stop spending so much. And I think that that's the kind of that's the sort of good news bad news bad news is bad news thing that makes this happen. I mean, to me, it's not a behavioral aspect. They have one exact tool in McKee will talk about this up to Wednesday when we speak with Richard Clare to the former vice chairman of the fed and they don't have a behavioral construct here. They have a simple tool and to your point, ala Jordan Rochester said earlier this morning, the Titan from Nomura, a hundred beeps is an out of the realm. I can't get there. I don't see a stick. It's called a stick folks. You're raising a stick. We haven't seen that, and they're known lives, I would suggest. And a lot of people sort of discount the 30% chance of the market is given that right. That's my control over at JPMorgan. What people are looking at is not just 75 basis points. Next week or a hundred, they're looking at the possibility that rates could go up to 4.4% as a base case, which is we're seeing priced into the market right now. This is important. Life goes on out moments ago, Adobe, we all know them, the PDF people, and all that, they're going to buy figma for 20 kazillion dollars cash and stock. It's a figma of my imagination. I have no idea what figma is. What I know is this signals, Lisa, life goes on. And to your point, Tom, capital markets are reopening after having been closed for the bulk of early this year. And that is notable, especially when you've got S&P futures here that are down a quarter of a percent. You have this sort of sustained softening that we saw a couple of days ago. You do the data check, you do it better than me, but the bottom line, I'm going to start with Sterling under a 1.15 again. If I'm the prime minister of the United Kingdom morning this queen celebrating this new king, I'm sorry, I got one eye on the Bloomberg and the answer is Sterling weaker. And they have also another eye on their energy policy that they have to come out with some more details on next week after just a proposing, one of the biggest physical plans. We're also seeing a ten year yields that is getting higher priced down, yield up 3.45%, but I'm really watching the two year yield, having broken through three 80. And sustained there in this feeling of how far the fed could potentially go. You know, before we get to Jim, we're not in the 4% watch yet and the two year. I mean, we got to get to three 90 to play that game, right? I think that you can, you can play whatever game you want. We are seeing as the velocity of that yield rise and what it infers. I think that that's important to note. Right now, the question that I have is ultimately what kind of earnings pain has to come along with a 4% four and a half percent. Benchmark fed funds rate and Jim Paulson, chief investment strategist at booth hold group, has to parsing through this. Someone who has been concerned about the ramifications of tighter fed policy gym, what is your view on whether the market is adequately grappling with the likelihood, the probability if you view a market's pricing as such, a 4.4% fed funds rate next year. I think 4.4% is not in the market. I don't think it is. And I think that'd be way overdoing it. And I think the risk is now that the fed does overdo this. I think much of the free bond market is pretty good. The ten year yield's been good for months, really since May at this three to three and a half area. Thinking the fed probably quits at the three, three and a quarter. It doesn't look like that at the moment. But I think that if the fed's going to manage monetary policy on the basis of what was the hottest report in the last 30 days, I think they're going to make a big mistake. To me, there's a lot of contractionary force from past economic policies already in the pipeline that have lagged effects on the economy and on inflation in particular that are going to continue to put downward pressure on inflation well into next spring. If the fed would do nothing from here, a tremendous drop in money growth in fiscal juice, a big rise in the dollar massive rises and bond yields, all of that still working the way through the pipe, putting downward pressure. I think the fed's going to lose its case to keep raising rates. Maybe sooner than we think. There's a lot here. In a bigger way. Yeah. There's a lot here. And we have to start unpacking some of it. We could talk about rejecting the idea of their pivot, even though they're saying, we're not going to pivot, but there's also this question of what would be the ramifications if the market's right. If the fed funds rate does get to 4.4% next year, how much downside could there be in equities? Well, I think that I think that supple would blow between by the time we got there and would cause things to stop and quite frankly, if we stopped the tightening of interest rates, I think the market would probably come out of that okay. Earnings would come off much more than we currently think, but I think multiples would expand is where it's kind of where I'm at. You know, if I could just point out that for an equity investor, when I look back, Tom all the way to 1940, we've had 7 major inflationary peaks. And what I find major is over 6%. And of those of those 7, the stock market bottomed almost coincidentally with the peak annual peak in inflation and everyone but one of them. And there isn't about how fast inflation comes down to more when it peaks and it doesn't escape my attention that the CPI inflation rate peaked in June and right now the market low is June. And I'm not so sure that it isn't already working its way back up. Jim fossil fuels you on Bloomberg radio, we are honored to have the backdrop of St Paul's Cathedral here at Queen Victoria street, and as Jim knows, the last time the Minnesota Twins won was in their topping out the dome in 1710 with Christopher Wren. I would suggest Jim even more so that if you go back to 1710 and Queen Anne, you're going to find a gloom permeates and the system fixes it, explain how the corporate system and the economic process Adam Smith's microsystem solves an inflation. Well, I think you're exactly right, Tom. I think everyone thinks that the fed is the only thing standing between

"Is going to be 20 years. Since 9 11 and we've seen so many different news items. We've seen so many different things on Sports Council across the country taking us back to that day that horrific day that happened in this country involving the twin towers involving close to the Pentagon and also in Pennsylvania. And the one thing that always sticks out of my mind. When I was living in the Hudson Valley in upstate New York and Highland, New York and me and a friend of mine we're going to hang out that day. How beautiful that day was not a cloud in the sky. Brilliant sunshine was about 85 86 degrees, You could not have picked a more perfect day. To not have something like that happened that just took everybody around the world and always think back to how sports was a huge, huge factor. Some people still have not been able to heal Jordan from what happened 20 years ago as of Saturday, but sports played a huge, huge role in the healing process. Music did that as well, Never get the concert they had in New York City with the Who, and you, too, and everybody like that, but I always go back to certain sports moments. Running onto the field. The flag with the New York Jets have met lifestyle with the New England Patriots. Those kinds of things still resonate years later, no matter how there was exactly and juicy brothers, no doubt about that. No doubt. You know, it sticks out to me also where some of the baseball moments uh Piazza. Even though I'm a Yankee fan that might be as a home run in that game was unbelievable. Uh, the president at the time, throwing out the first pitch in President Bush. I think I think that might be like one of my one of my top things. And the Yankees 70 year they played the Diamondbacks. I think in the playoffs, absolutely. The World Series the Diamondbacks Take the memories of that playoff run there. I mean, there was it was You can. You can remember the patriotism in the way that the country came together. I think that that's to me 20 years later as we sit here, that's the one thing that I heard Jason Garrett talked about. Remember Jason Garrett was Player for the Giants on that team right at the time in 2000, and one Jim Jim Fossil was the coach Jim Fassel made that one of his like missions. Basically, he was Made part of his life mission after that, too. Help out people that were involved in 9 11 who impossible by the way just passed, but and with Jason Garrett said, and what Jim Fossils always said I heard Bobby Valentine's save again today. Was that the amazing part was the way it helped. Everybody come together afterwards. True, thank and that's one of the things that kind of sticks with me. 20 years later, is like you know what I wish It was like that more often where we've been for such a No, the country especially in the past year or two. Has been sort of the other direction, right? Yeah, totally separated. Uh, back then, after this Awful tragedy kind of brought everybody together and you really felt that over like that. I don't know for a while Afterwards. I know what you what you remember from that, but that that sticks out to me big time. It's one of those things because we always have heard by the way is Jordan one on in for Erin Fitzsimmons on Freddie Coleman and Freddie Fitzsimmons on ESPN Radio, the ESPN atmospheres as a child, 80. We've always heard whether it's inside of sports or outside of sports. If you have a close knit community or close knit country that any kind of adversity is going to bring the country together, is going to bring communities together, and we saw plenty of that for the longest, longest time. It's amazing that in 20 years that we've gone from that Communal atmosphere to where we are in a lot of places in the country Now, whether it's politics, whether it's vaccines are not enough people not wanting to get the vaccines, whether it's what chauvinism over here or racism over there, it seems that they're more polarizing factors. That of fracturing the country and you shouldn't need a catastrophe along the lines of what happened 20 years ago to bring people together because we've seen that where it's something like that happens and people have that closeness and let everybody know that if we can get through this together that togetherness with something that was huge and sports a big part of that, because, yes, sports is always about together, coming together as a team and being very self less And not very selfish for the common good in the greater good when it comes to victories, or even just playing the game and doing the game the right way. It kind of kind of reminds me of like the I know this was years later at the moment when At the baseball game when they fans found out that they had killed Osama bin Laden. Mhm and then they were like, you know, cheering in the stands USA like that, that kind of stuff that gives you goose bumps like that's what it was, like 20 years ago. Afterwards as well, with just everybody coming together and everybody People going down there and to ground zero and helping out and just Going out of their way to make sure that they were trying to help. Other people and the kindness and and, uh, thoughtfulness that everybody should lot of people showed at that time was Was really something unique that we don't we don't see very often, especially on a regular basis, especially my sister worked down not too far from where the towers hit. Her office is about four blocks away, and I'll never forget when all that was going down. And you couldn't even get through on the phone. There was no service, no phone. Nothing going into New York. And that was probably the longest 11 hours of my life warning if she was okay and hoping that she was okay, and they find out that she was, it brought a sense of relief, but then was also a sense of despair because so many other people. At lost loved ones in the towers of the firemen and fire woman that went back into the towers to save people. It's hard to believe that that was 20 years ago, because at times during it seems like it was 200 years ago. And then the other time was 20 minutes ago. It really does, And so There's going to be a lot of emotion when it comes to that 20 years ago, 9 11 happening and not just this country change, but the whole world change and a lot of people never, ever going to forget. That day. This is Freddie Fitzsimmons with John Brennan and Freddie Coleman on ESPN Radio, the ESPN APP and Sirius XM Channel Lady..

I think may is i think if they don't make the playoffs this year. May i could end up being the scapegoat. But i think it will have to be horrible like dr near-mutiny from the players for gruden to be five just because of his contract and his personality and stature and i think they want a face like that in vegas is not the right thing but if they get is what it is rob. I'm with you. Look jon gruden. This is his fourth year with the raiders. They have yet to have a winning season and rob all this four five year plan. It's only a couple of france. I we're gonna give you give jacksonville the couple years a couple years. You're giving the jets a few years. You know those horrible teams. You giving a little bit of time. But two years before jon gruden took over. They were twelve and four. They were before and my thing. Is this rob not. It doesn't happen in every situation but a lot of times. You might even say most times. A great coach. Great often turn that team around. If not immediately vin quickly andy. Reid goes the kansas city all of a sudden. They're they're top team. Sean mcdermott all of a sudden. They're top team in buffalo. They had made the plows in. Seventeen years sean. Mcdermott puts them in his first year. Sean mcveigh we saw what he did with the rams office that near top team so you don't i mean enough's enough. There's no more excuses and you brought up tampa. We know jon gruden. I'm not taking credit away from him for this. He all but it was only a what was his team players but he has the coach. Fine. we'll get back right but rob his last six. The next six years in tampa what they make the playoffs. They made it twice to win a playoff game. This is what. I'm trying to say that when you add that to what he's done now the first three years and i want to go back because you know mike mayock gonna make a headline. The headline is chris. A headline was from two thousand late in the two thousand season. And you'll remember this when jim fossil delay jim. Fossil was the coach of the giants. You remember kris showed up there to giant scuffling and he said i guarantee you will make the playoffs. Do you remember that. That was jim fossil. And guess what they did that year. They didn't even make just make the playoffs. They went to the super bowl chris. That was jim fossils team. And i'm talking about when you want to stand up there and stick your chest out. You better talk about in indefinite terms. And i have more respect for jim fossil. That could blow up in his face. Chris right and that could have been it. He guaranteed that that team was good enough and that it would make the playoffs. So i wanna hear. Mike mayock and jon gruden stand up and say we have everything. We've put this team together and this team is a playoff team..

You ain't going to be here next year, and you know, it was just It's an accountability that comes from underperformance. And the Yankees had so many expectations. I mean, I I flipped through this. They're betting it. There's not a player. I mean, maybe d. J. Lo Mayhew is is closed. There's nobody close to batting 300. Geo is as well, but it's so they're so lacking in these stats that we thought were going to be explosive. And, Yeah, I know. Aaron Judge has hit a ton of home runs. 18 on the season. Already he made the All Star game, but even he's felt disappointing in some capacities. I mean, he's probably the best of the bunch. But even certain stretches. All these guys have just not lived up to the expectations, and it's not necessarily even statistics. It's situational baseball, which they which they haven't excel that And for a team that's veteran. The Taz had postseason experience and like they, you know been there for this is the first run through this this gauntlet. Um, they're not making the plays a crunch time like and that's frustrating, and that's ultimately on the players. So I agree with what he's saying. I think getting called out Sometimes the best thing that can happen to you. So, Yeah, I was okay with this. Phil Mickelson entered the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit this week. For the first time, however, the Detroit News published a story this week about a nearly 20 year old gambling beef Mickelson allegedly had with a Michigan bookie. Mickelson promptly announced he would not be returning to this event while ever again. Wow, it is Phil overreacting here, or does he have a right to be so upset? Um Both. He is overreacting, but I would be pissed too. I mean, this happened 20 years ago, a gambling beef that that he allegedly had with the Michigan bookie. And now you're just putting it on blast for For what? To be perfectly honest, I think it's an overreaction because who cares? It's like public knowledge that Phil Mickelson likes to gamble, and we don't I don't think he gambles on golf. But I don't know if that would even matter, because it's not like I mean, what's what's going to hurt, right? You know what I mean? Unless he's intentionally losing, Um But either way, it's never been implicated for gambling on the sport that he plays. He talks about it willingly. So the fact that there was a 20 year old story out there that you know, maybe had some truth to it, but probably didn't At least not to the extent that it was written. Why that upset him? I'm not quite sure. Um, but he does have a right to be upset, But that's a weird. It's a weird reaction. You know by Phil, but I guess he's sensitive. What athletes are And last one teak..

I have um so. I don't always subscribe to everything. They don't always want every single episode of every podcast download download automatically on my phone. And i saw like. I feel like i had to go back in like follow. All of them so If you're in the same situation make sure you do that. With leading nation. I guess and blocking the voice so biaggi recently updated. His iphone is what. I took away from that because i did that about a week and a half ago. And you're right. Apple changed dramatically like. There's there's always been these subtle differences from one software to the next and so they really changed the way podcast reviewed and in fact your point biaggi. You use the money term there. At as i understand that you no longer subscribe to podcasts. You follow them so everybody make sure you're following both blogging. The boys and bleeding Make sure to leave a rating for both leave. Five stars for both and writer review on each of them. If you're a cowboys fan praised the cowboys on ours. But you can go to. Bgn's and you can say whatever you want say the eagle suck but as long as you leave five stars and follow along That is what is appreciated. But beog so for the listener the loyalists ner bill and i have discovered through the mix tape that we have a lot more common interests than i think. We even thought some of them are not even sports podcasts. As an example and i think that you're like me in that i am very particular about the way. My podcasts app is kind of organized. And what is really bothersome to me. Is the app previously if you organized it or if you had the view that was like the cover. Art talking about for each podcast. Whatever it used to show you the unplayed episode count again would tell you one or two or whatever and they changed that and now it doesn't have that ticker that counter it. It just says updated. Today did wednesday last updated monday. So now there's no real way to kind of remind yourself. Oh i have this podcast. Listen to it's really really bothersome. I do have a solution though in terms of have gone about it that i can share with you. Fine if you prefer this hacky complaining about news. Updates to everything. I mean this is life you know everyone back the day when people actually use facebook. Where like oh my gosh. The new facebook updates so unusable. I can't even use any get used to it. And then they change it again so in some of that is going on here. But i mean like legitimately. I had to go back and follow some and i feel like maybe i'm missing one like maybe there was about guest. I don't listen to super often valley. I forgot to follow. And maybe i'm just never gonna listen to that again so again. Hopefully that's not the case with this. I mean if it's if it is the case then you're not listening to this and that's really sad but if you are then you're fine so good if it is the case nobody heard what you just said so If you wanna complain about the apple podcasts app. You can hit up on twitter at brandon. Gunn i'm on twitter at joe today. We are continuing our series of building an all. Nfc team in fact. This is the final components of the team. Two weeks ago. We did an all. Nfc east offense last week did an all nfc east defense today biaggi. We're going to fill out the special teams and put together a head coach and general manager tandem for the best division in football before we do though a little bit of news. A little bit of notes Not a lot going on in his minicamp season We're starting with some very somber news and very unfortunate news. It was announced on tuesday morning that on monday evening. Former new york giants head coach jim. Fossil passed away at the age of seventy one. Obviously a longtime coach in this division heading jiman- took them to the super bowl. They lost the baltimore ravens. Jim fossil son. Biaggi as you know. Is john fossil. The current special teams coordinator of the dallas cowboys So lots of nfc east nick's going on there. I know it goes that saying that. Our thoughts and prayers are with the fossil. Fam- you don't really have a memory of him I'm i'm actually younger than you are. I'm only twenty nine near what. I'm thirty one so yeah that's not like push the envelope here like i'm younger. It's right in the younger than you. Old man and i have really no memory of him as a head coach. So i don't. I don't have a lot of Perspective to add but certainly you know seems like he was a a beloved coach their time they had some success so Yeah no. It's sad and seventy one. I think is relatively young. So it's a sad day very sad day. Indeed i know that john fossil obviously is tending. Their family matters right now. Mike mccarthy mentioned that on tuesday As understandably is the case other news not an easy thing. That transition from Speaking of the giants g we have both talked about how there's this kind of sneaky massive Responsibility hovering around saquon barkley on his shoulders on his quads. If your proverbial national twitter account and he is still only rehabbing when it comes to everything to the giants have going on right now with you know with regards to giants fans one to ten. How concerning is that in your mind..

"Joe Judge, and you know Appropriate of him not to offer a timeline on Sequana Barkley, because imagine if he did, and we're wrong. Think of what would happen. Wait, Nothing would happen actually. Uh, when he when he started to say, Giants coach I thought of Jim Fossil. Jim Fossil died and that just sort of hit me like Wow. How old was Jim Fossil? It was 71 that might have guessed younger. But that was 20 years ago when His team was in the Super Bowl. Sal Carpaccio on the Western Hotline, Sal. I never I know I never met him face to face. I think he might have been on the show once. He was sometimes rumored for bills, jobs, but It was never my team. I always liked Jim Fossil. I don't know. Like some coaches. To give you enough personality and they just come across the right way for you, and he was one of those guys for me. Yeah, I can see that. Um, you know, I feel the same way about him, which is kind of he was. He was just about football. No nonsense, right? Not to level like a Tom Coughlin. But he just seemed like he was a good football man. I guess you'd say like to use a cliche. If you will, I would even say like a lot like Sean McDermott in that sense, right? Just he's about football and trying to win games. And you know the other stuff shouldn't matter. It's It's that it's that what matters you know, going out there and Performing every day and trying to win football games. Do I remember correctly that like I'm not sure if the bills ever interviewed him, but they may have to remember anything about fossil and them. Mm. I don't know. When would he have been? Maybe? Rumored for one of their jobs. I'm not really sure. Well, probably more than 10 years ago. I mean, it would have been maybe around when Giron I don't know exactly how that lined up, but the Giants Ravens Super Bowl was 4000 season. And he would have been there for a little time after that, but The last thing I think I saw him do was coaching. Was it XFL? Maybe he was coaching another league. I think. Fossil, So, Yeah, and then is, um Isn't it his his son as a coach? I believe, right? I think so as a coach. Said here about that the conversation about we had a lot of conversations, different conversations about the bills in the first hour. The one we were having toward the end was about Matt Brita. Mhm and Brian dabble brought his name up. But I mentioned how like in these fantasy draft where you get very deep, and you're playing with really sharp guys who know the depth charts up and down for every team. Never see. Breed his name. And like, I don't question that. But when I hear his name in here, I think you know what I wonder if he might be relevant in this offense. What do you think it would take like? You see him as somebody that they to put it This particular way would want to find room for in this offense. Would it be different than that? Do you think he means to them? I think the reason why you wouldn't like get People to really bring them up in a fantasy draft or draft him. Is because I don't think people think they're going to use them that much right? Because the bill simply aren't a team that's going to run the ball a lot. So there's already limited carries. And now he's also behind Singletary and Moss. And even if they were to spin one of them, you're talking about a shared backfield of a team that basically throws 65 70% of the time. Um, what's really there and then you know, not a lot to their running backs a little bit, so I don't think it's a lot of share their for him. Um, I think the bills believe he can be a weapon in certain situations. Maybe, as the season goes on. Maybe we realized they realized that he needs to be on the field a little bit more, but I think the element of adding speed has been something. We've talked a lot about going all the way back to that loss against the Kansas City Chiefs. One of the things the very next day was, this team needs more speed. And Matt Marina brings that he brings more speed, but he's not going to be on the field all the time. And even when he is there going to be doing other things other than giving the ball to Matt Burritos, so I think that's where it comes from. But I do think they believe he can offer a certain element. The teams are going to have to respect and He might be able to break when it doesn't always have to be a 65 yard touchdown. But if he can, you know, bust a 20 yard run off. That's a really nice run. That's a nice play. Yeah. And in the you know the fantasy context, But just in any context, I think the bills are a team where They? It seems like there might be room for somebody to move in on the running backs that they have. And like, so Brita was their choice to do that. It wasn't Travis Et and it turns out it wasn't Anybody in the draft. How do you think? Or maybe, you know, I'm not sure if table got this question today. Or if McDermott has, But how do you think the bill see if I can put it like this? Singletary versus Moss? Is one of them. Overall, more valuable to them than the other. How do you think they look at that? I don't. I think there is a Shared backfield. Um In fact, Brian Table was asked about this today. Like Do you believe in more like a another bell car running back at the main running back? A lead back, I think is what the way he was asked to him. And he said, no, not really. Just you know, it's you go with what you have, and you, You see even what he said was. I'm trying to figure out and find out exactly. They're trying to remember as I talk to you like what he said. But I do remember the one party said. Sometimes you go with the hot hand right? If a guy is really rolling, and you feel that he's got it going, the other guy doesn't you do it that way, But it can be all different situations. It could be game plan. It could be a lot of different things and who that is, and that's the way I think the bills are going to approach it. I think they approach it with Hey, neither of these guys is one A and neither is one B. Now there might be a starter. There has to be someone's got to be on the field before the other one. Unless you're putting them on the same time together to start the game, and I would guess that be Devin Singletary. He's been on the team for three years. Um, you know, that's probably that's his role. That's his job. But it wouldn't surprise me that You know, these two guys basically have about the same snap counts at the end of most games. So, Sal, Uh, I've risked burying the lead here. This this fight at practice, not because it's it's not the lead in terms of like what I think you would say the same. I don't know yet. What it matters how it matters to the season. But as far as the story of the day goes, it's probably a J. F. Vanessa running back an interception and John Feliciano, according to reports, quote chasing him down. And then a fight ensued. What do you know about it? And what do you make of it? Yeah. So I'll just for transparency. I was obviously out of practice today have a lot of video practice. So I had a Jacksonville radio station calling me today just after one o'clock. So when I took the call, I didn't want to be rude. Anybody next to me? So I literally walked outside the fence to take the take The call and to go on Jacksonville radio, and the play happened within five minutes of me being outside the fence, so I did not actually physically see the play happen. But I heard what was going on. And then I saw the reports and things like that. Um, my buddy Matt Perino. You know him? He's been on the show New York upstate. I asked him a couple of times like what you see. And he just wrote up a report on there and and he told me exactly what he saw. And obviously John Feliciano has spoken about it. Since then, you guys heard the sound when he was on with the Pat McAfee show..

"The giants. Run to the super bowl. So if you got the crosshairs you've got the you got the lazy to write on my chest. i'll take full responsibility. i'm raising the stakes right now. This is a poker game. I'm showing my chips to the middle of the table. I'm raising the anti anybody. Wants wants out get out. This team is going to the playoffs. And that team did go to the playoffs and jim fossil delivered on that promise and it was another one of those great guarantees in new york and it was an underrated soundbite and jim fossil was a great man. Condone this to his family. Yeah coz fossil was my first coach. She's the only coach. They gave me an opportunity to play in this league. And you don't necessarily think about people every day. But when i finally read this news and saudi past thought about something he'd be for me. My first opportunity started was on prime time it was it was against tampa bay buccaneers and we were really not playing. Well he looked at me. He said you know what this is the team that gave you a chance. You worked to earn this opportunity. Isn't this exactly what you've worked for. And he said he was happy to be the coach to give me that chance and when no other coach thought you were good enough to have you on their team. Here's the coach. Who decided to keep you because of your play even starts you because of the pure play in opportunity that you earned and he took his time and giving one of those great speeches that was four of their entire team and he looked at me and he pointed at me and he looked me in my eyes and he gave me something from his heart. I think that's who joe fossil was and that's who he should be remembered as for the football community for all of us. Whoever got an opportunity to play for and this is a huge loss of really good man countless people benefited from the belief that jim fossil instilled in them. Our thoughts are with the fossil family. Welcome outside lines. The emmy and peabody award. Winning show tackles the most important issues in sports. Sierra history time what college athletics is going to look like taking you beyond the headlines to every sport is yet your important but you're not as important as the menstrual with perspective from the best analysts in the business now for the first time the dallas cowboys be black quarterback who is one hundred percents of the outside the lines every saturday at nine am eastern on espn soccer. Got you covered right here on. Espn and abc. Couple of weeks ago. That prescott said he's already ready to play. The season started right now. He does have quite a bit of time following his broken ankles still lead. You're looking back on the practice field out there today. He participated in seven on seven. Edwards is covering the cowboys. Ota's ed what's the team saying about that tells cowboys head coach. Mike mccarthy described quarterback dak prescott is being exactly where he needs to be as he continues his recovery from the leg and ankle injuries. That ended his twenty twenty season after just five games and required two surgeries prescott span. Held out of eleven on eleven work to this point to prevent any defenders from inadvertently falling into him. Mccarthy says that plan will be followed throughout this minicamp with the expectation being. He participates fully during training camp. Mccarthy said they believe the quarterback will be able to practice every day but also said they're not naive and recognized the possibility of adjustments being necessary for any player coming off a major joint injury. Things that i to say guys. It's fun to watch. dak move around other. It looks like he's moving around pretty good. There's pressure every season win in dallas cowboys. But who's going to be filling it most this season. Oh it's the defense. I mean the defense was like peppy. Look you stake last year. It was absolutely awful. We were talking about these record. Numbers being put up by dag. And all of these great wide receivers with those numbers were needed just to lose by not even to win football games. You replace mike nolan with dan. Quinn ukrainian a great defensive back coach. Joe wing who's been in this league for over a decade and you drive defense. Mike parsons kelvin. Joseph and you said you know what we're going to focus on getting better on that side of the ball to help offense. We know what data can do. We know what. Elliot do ceedee. Lamb amari cooper gallup. What are they going to do on the defensive side of the ball. Two new guys play well in case some of the old players get back to the form that got them paid by jerry jones. Say that's actually why. I think the pressure is on mike mccarthy. Look no one's going to be like. Hey you know dan. Quinn can't coach backs the mike mccarthy fires defensive coordinator hire new one. Mike nolan was his higher. That was his fault. We technically why they year ago. And i'll -fensive festively. Everyone believes in duct. Prescott got the quarterback under contract. He's healthy. he's got plenty of good players around him. Zeke elliot probably should have a bounce back year. Offense is the background of mike mccarthy. I actually think this is a situation now where you go. Look the if they're not winning. People aren't going to blame. That people are gonna blame dan. Quinn people are going to blame. Mike mccarthy so i think that's really where the pressure is much things on the hot seat to lose his job but that's the plane if they have another losing season because the previous four years under jason garrett they were five hundred or better listen. I think tim's points are well taken. But i think there's something about putting a cowboys. John blast that's become a sport. I won't give we do that for jason season. It's a people's putting mike mccarthy on blast okay. Do i agree with what you're saying. But hey mike mccarthy your seats get warm real fast for tim. Hasselbeck do listen permai. Nothing mike doesn't know there were six ten last year. It stinks your quarterback got hurt. We'll guess what. Mike tomlin went. Eight nate with duck. Hodges and mason rudolph like people and i can't imagine jerry jones cares so the reality is like the dallas cowboys your quarterbacks on a deal to pay a one hundred forty million dollars. I lost the bet that pay the pew would end up in. Nfl lives day. That's a whole different kind of we're saying that there's no pressure on track. There's no pressure on zeke. Is that really true. "Care what decade it is you have somebody Whether it's Stockton with the tight shorts or Mark Jackson back of the day or any pure point that wants to set up his teammates. Ben Simmons today um, it's It's a beautiful thing. It's a beautiful thing. Yeah, but you're right. There's there's Chris Paul. What makes Cristo special is that you know, he really has a pension for making big shots. He's a dagger thrower, right? He loves throwing those daggers right, like three to all shocker. All Paul from 20. It's good and I don't even mean to win at the buzzer. I mean those possessions that are waning down. And you're up by three or four points, and there's a minute and a half to go and kind of hot potato ball around the perimeter. Chris is like I got it and he will break you down. He'll wait expertly till that thing goes to about two. He'll let it fly and invariably sticks, many of them. So he's just the the residual impact he's had on the sons will be felt. This is going to seem ridiculous, You know, maybe for the better part of the next decade or so. Especially if he's there again next year. Yeah, Yeah. Is that good? Yeah. The question is, you know, Are they viable for championship? But why would you like that? And again. I don't disagree, because I look at the West like all right, they're going to get I think they're going to get through Denver. We We kind of expected that this would be a blow out. It's actually really close game. Yep. For the first time. In fact, the Nuggets were leading by a point at the break luggage drop by about seven or 81 point first half. That's right, but there'll be more and then it just it just changed. The whole tenor shifted. After they came out in the second half. And and so I feel like yeah, they'll get through Denver because Denver is is, uh, you know, not that they're flawed. The rosters flawed. I can't say that it just there hurt, right? Yeah. They're not hold their knothole right now. So, um, it may be a test. This may go seven. Help make it 66 or seven. Who knows, But I feel like they get through, But if they get through, you know they have Absolutely a fighter stands against the jazz. You know what I mean? Or whoever else the Clippers or the Clippers who end up facing in the Western Conference finals, and what's what you get to the the championship. It's then it gets challenging, especially if it's going to be the nets that are coming out of the East or or even Philly who comes out of the east, depending on how they rebound from this Atlanta series, because then you're going to get some superstars right? It's it's one thing. Playing a superstar is another playing multiple on the team. Which is what they're going to have to do once they get to the next stage of of this postseason. Mm. And we'll get to both of those games. You just mentioned a little later in the show. We'll do that. We'll get to acts update right now. "Outside of tv ratings and merchandising and stuff like that and the contracts they are so obviously. The league is healthy but the nets this with that team and it being this easy. I don't believe it is good for the nba out of the teams left right now. You know the hawks are the team that nobody expected to be as good as they aren and they fired their coach. Midseason aikman done an unbelievable job and you know they make a trade they bring a couple of guys in that are going to make a difference at the trade deadline and they certainly have shown that and then of course you know trae. Young is just off the charts. So that's the team like if they have won all the way they would be. You know kind of like the canadians are in the nhl right now. The islanders may be where everybody's all in and everybody's participating and it's not really about three superstars or two superstars in this case now with the nets. yeah. I detailed this last week. Some of the other super teams at how they had difficult times. You know if the necc- roll like this then it's like it doesn't feel right. It shouldn't be that easy. I mean they've they've paid one hundred and sixty about one hundred and sixty million dollars over the last two years right for two players in the nba less than that for two players and they didn't win last year because one of those players didn't play and the other one out of the bubble. Sure but they you know whatever so here. They are this year now and they still haven't won anything yet. They gotta get through this thing. But i'll tell you you watch. Kevin durant play basketball right now. It's ridiculous. yeah bill in brooklyn. What's up bill. Hey good morning guys. hey Really sad to hear the news about jim fossil but boomer and geo to get your insight You know this guy won. The nfc championship went to the super bowl. Why could he not get another job. Because i have a friend. Her husband was the associate athletic director vanderbilt. He could not get an interview there. He could not get an interview with georgia tech. He didn't get the stanford job. Why did this guy not work. is there something missing. I brought this up earlier. It is a strange one. You've seen a lotta guys get recycled that have had less success than what jim fossil had is. The head coach of the giants also brought up. Brian billick who was actually won a super bowl ad. He beat jim fossil in that super bowl in two thousand didn't get another job after that. I don't know. I don't have some guys have gruff personalities. Yeah some guys you know. Once they get to that point basically one run everything and some people that are hiring people like this are afraid of them..

Yeah yes I'm kind of think of war of the guys that i worked for I loved to work was two years with wade phillips more dinner. I've vince tobin. I liked him all boy. That's a hard one. Because i have respect for these guys i don't i don't have any eight my heart from yes so I really enjoyed you know most of my career. I worked for defensive head coach and bottom line. Well will say this. When i hired john fox he had one offer to be a db coach. He wasn't going to be a coordinator anywhere. And george young questioned me about jim. Fired raiders yet. This but that that. I should george. I like the guy sean payton was going to go back to college. He could not get a job in the nfl he was done. He couldn't get an interview in the when. I heard it so he was going back to college and i really like shawn because he was a good guy and i could frame to be a coordinator to playcaller and all that stuff. Because he hadn't done it. He's only had one year in the nfl as a quality control guy so he was really green behind the but i liked his attitude. I interviewed ten coaches for the quarterback job. I was running the offense. And i wanted a guy that i thought you know. This guy sticks with me to three or four years. He would have the potential to be a coordinator and then i made him the coordinator after my mom died and was worn out and turned play calling over to him. I was worn out. It was time probably ask job. Jim fossil our show. Jim 'cause i. Can i talk to you for days but unfortunately we gotta pay the bills and we gotta get into a little bit fell.
