"This is the year in review, and we're looking back in the company of blanquita Cullum, the hard question and jed Baben of the American spectator. And it is portion we'll take a look at the whole trade notion, the battles with China and to a lesser extent Europe, the new NAFTA and see just where we stand first of all jed, Bob, are we are we talking at all about maybe some some blinking in the eyeball to eyeball with China. Yeah. I think we are. I think both sides are blinking, quite frankly. China is saying well, they're going to relieve some of the duty on American cars things like that. So they're blinking a bit. But so is Mr. Trump, and we've got a ninety day truce in the tariff war, and hopefully that will come to some sort of a race Lucien in the next month or so, but the real problem with with China is not just trade it's been electoral property and their cyber espionage. They are the biggest threat to the United States economy in the world. We should I think remember the extent to which if we got nothing from China whatsoever. We stopped all trade with China. It would be an inconvenience and we'd pay more for brooms and a few other things the Chinese economy in it'd probably half a year would collapse they have to have us. I don't think maybe we realize blanquita the extent to which we have some considerable bargaining power year. Well, you know, when you were saying that you're talking about linking. I remembering that video the guy that was blinking that was doing SOS with his eyes. Storage is happening China. Everybody has to be careful of how they're perceived. They can't lose their dignity in their honor. That's very important Asia. But they do need us because their economies down on the other hand. Again, it's all the political chess of who they are friends with and who are not necessarily like with Russia, and again with their friends in the Middle East of French and African areas like, Hugh, Dan, were they put in bribes and do things and make deals, and we can't so very important how that ability to politically strategize. But yeah, just a little SOS Lincoln at some point the Chinese were invited into the big boys club. And everybody said, gee, we're glad you're a Mao Tse mao-tse-tung paranoid, and you can join the WTO Taiwan's old seat on the UN Security Council. I hear the rules side here, and the Chinese side everywhere and violated virtually everything they they agreed to at some point whether it be tariffs, or whatever, I would hope not all out war. But at some point in some way, it must be explained to the Chinese that there will not be one set of rules for them and one set of rules forever. Everyone else. Jed. Well, yes, I agree with that. But the problem is there have been one set of rules for China. One set of rules for everybody else for about three thousand years. We're going to have to get them a really well accustomed to that in a very hard way. Don't forget we have about thirteen trillion dollars in debt to China. They're holding a big stick over our heads. And we've got to be very careful as to how we deal with that too. They are expansionist they are revolutionary power like Iran, and what you see now in the Middle East and southwest Asia. They are turning Pakistan, which is one of the most dangerous nations in the world into a tributary state. So. I remember the Panama Canal. Remember, the they tried to build another Panama Canal in Nicaragua. Remember their presence and Venezuela Colombia, Peru. They are all over Africa. Yeah. All we're all over the Middle East jet said something that made me kind of laughed about intellectual property because you know, I'm thinking of intellectual property the complaints that Hollywood once had about the, you know, the south of their of their product, you know, their hobby and dubbed immediately, of course, now think of every movie theater in the United States. That's you know, a lot of the ownership by China and the same with a lot of the movie companies are now doing business with China is they're big partner. Dear try, you're absolutely right BQ. I'm more concerned about the fact that they stole the plans for the f thirty five from Lockheed. Later in the world for those who know and and they're building their own copy of it right now. So they're they're they're cyber espionage is an enormous danger. It's an enormous threat to national security into our entire how do we stand as regards Europe? Because I've always felt that it would be better. If we we worked with Europe to tame China, and I'm not sure that that's a surly every disagreement. We had with Europe was necessarily worth it. Well Europe is is on another track altogether. Don't forget they're still stuck on the Iran nuclear deal that Obama made and Trump has gotten out there. Trying to get around our sanctions they're trying to get around our banking sanctions specifically, they're trying to create a new whole mechanism to trade with the reality of the euro as limiting the dollar. So these guys are not on our side on that. And it's been so interesting to watch. I mean think about the g twenty there's mccrone I mean as much as he tries showing up Putin. I don't listen to me. And then he standing right next to Trump and then w season after that. Because of all the stuff that's going on in the Sean Phillies as with Yellen cetera, and Theresa May she kind of she's like the image of the cap. That's kinda hang with their nails to hold on. Burkle what's up with miss workable? Interesting time. Well, they certainly are that I mean that that sounds like a sitcom let's go to Jim in Pittsburgh. Hello, jim. Welcome to the year in review with jed and blanquita. Hello. Jim. Folks wanted to wonder why is it a couple of questions wonder why it is offering fifty percents over fifty terrorist? Why don't we go further and the other one is when they when you mentioned the thirteen million or trillion dollars in debt, I'm thinking, maybe if we go back up here in the United States, which is to be like, we're on the edge. Is there a chance that we can get that taking care of the thirteen trillion? It's not thirteen trillion that that's several administrations ago. It's twenty one almost twenty one trillion. Terms of the official national debt, but it would care to offer thoughts for Jim in Pittsburgh. Well, yeah, it's thirteen dollars in thirteen trillion in debt China. I mean, our Colo you're talking about the trade deficit, right? And you know, the the the thing about it is we've got to be really careful with all this stuff. I mean, Jim we can't just go bankrupt. I mean, the United States has never done that our constitution says that we can't do that. So we're not gonna do that. But you know, the real fact is we have got to find a way to reduce our deficit our trade deficit and some of the things one of the ways we're doing it through tariffs. Now, you proposed a fifty percent or twenty five percents hair. Don't forget that's a tax on the American consumer tax directly on you and your family and everybody else. So let's not get too carried away with these towers because they backfire on us by definition. Our NAFTA, I gather blanquita, you feel it's a pretty good deal. I don't know that I think it's a pretty good deal. It's a better deal. And I see that it's you know, they say, it's not NAFTA, redone. It's a brand new deal according to the president. But they say the beta adjustments or in the areas of the country's trading relationship sets new rules for automobile production. It's meant incentivize production of cars and trucks and countries to pay higher wages, and it may reduce the barriers for American dairy farmers to sell cheese milk and other products to Canada, it retains a tribunal for resolving the trade issues that we have sought to eliminate. So I am very perfect. But it's better fair enough. Are we ever going to have free and fair trade? Jed. No. But we can get closer to it. I think, you know, going back to the thirteenth century when trade really began motivations. And you you have not seen free and fair trade. You know, there are certain areas where you've had leagues of nations that enter into it from behind. League to the European Union. They tried to trade equally amongst themselves. But even that whole part at some level best. We can do the best. We can do is get better. Mr trump. I think is making things a lot better with the new enough. "This is the urine review, and we're looking back in your blood Kita column of the hard question and jed Baben of the American spectator. And it is portion we'll take a look at the whole trade notion, the battles with China and to a lesser extent Europe, the new NAFTA and see just where we stand first of all jed. And are we are we talking at all about maybe some some blinking in the eyeball to eyeball with China. Yeah. I think we are. I think both sides are blinking, quite frankly, China is saying, well, they're going to relieve some of the duty on America cars things like that. So they're linking up bit. But so is Mr. Trump, and we've got a ninety day truce in the war, and hopefully that will come to some sort of a rice Aleutian in the next month or so, but the real problem with with China is not just trade it's been electoral property and their cyber espionage. I don't think maybe we realize blanquita the extent to which we have some considerable bargaining power here. Well, you know, when you were saying that you're talking about blanking. I remembering that video the guy that was blinking that was doing SOS with his eyes. Got. Happening with China because everybody has to be careful of how they're perceived they can't lose their dignity and their honor that's important Asia. But they do need us because their economies down on the. Again, it's all the political chess of who they are friends with who are not necessarily Fred survive like with Russia, and again with their friends in the Middle East of French and African areas like, Hugh, Dan were they can put in bribes and do things and make deals, and we can't so very important how the ability to politically strategize. But yeah, I just a little SOS Lincoln at some point the Chinese were invited into the big boys club. And everybody said, gee, we're glad you're logger Mao Tse Tung paranoid, and you can join the WTO Taiwan's old seat on the UN Security Council. I hear the rules side here, and the Chinese side everywhere and violated virtually everything they they agreed to at some point whether it be tariffs, or whatever, I would hope not all out war. But at some point in some way, it must be explained to the Chinese. There will not be one set of rules for them and one center. Rules for everyone else. Jed. Well, yes, I agree with that entirely. They are expansionist they are a revolutionary power like Iran, and what you see now in the Middle East and southwest Asia. They are turning Pakistan, which is one of the most dangerous nations in the world into a tributary state. So. In the Panama Canal. Remember, the they tried to build another Panama Canal and Nicaragua. Remember their presence and a swell in Colombia. Peru. I are all over Africa. Yeah. All we're all over the Middle East said something that made me kind of laughed about the intellectual property because you know, I'm thinking of intellectual property the complaints that Hollywood once had about the, you know, the of their of their product, you know, their babies copied and dubbed immediately, of course, now think of every movie theater in the United States. That's you know, a lot of the China and the same with a lot of the movie companies are now doing business with China is they're big partner. Lamarcus. You're you're you're absolutely right BQ. I'm more concerned about the fact that they stole the plans for the f thirty five from Lockheed. The fighter in the world for those who know. No. Building their own copy of it right now. So they're they're they're cyber espionage is an enormous danger. It's an enormous threat to national security into our entire on me. How do we stand as regards Europe? Because I've always felt it would be better. If we we worked with Europe to tame China, and I'm not sure that that's surly every disagreement. We had with Europe was necessarily worth it. Well Europe is is on other track. All together. Don't forget they're still stuck on the Iran nuclear deal that Obama made and Trump has gotten out there. Trying to get around our sanctions they're trying to get around our banking sanctions specifically the trying to create a new whole mechanism to trade with reality versus the euro as limited dollar. So these guys are not on our side on that. And it's been so interesting to watch. I mean think about the g twenty there's mccrone I mean as much as he tries to look like showing out Putin. Hi. To me. And then he standing right next to Trump and then w season after that. Because of all the stuff that's going on in the shot Phillies as with Yellen cetera, and Theresa May she kind of she's like the image of the cap. That's kinda hang on what their sales trying to hold on. Burkle? Oh, what's up with this Burkle? These are interesting times. Well, they certainly are that I mean that that's like a sitcom. Let's go to Jim in Pittsburgh. Hello, jim. Welcome to the year in review with jed and blanquita. Hello. Jim. Folks. So we wanted to wonder why is it a couple of questions wonder why it is offering fifty percents or fifty? On the terrorists. Why don't we go further and the other one is that I when when you mentioned the thirteen million or trillion dollars debt, I'm thinking, maybe if we go back up here in the United States, which is look it looks to me like we're on the edge. Is there a chance that we can get that taking care of the thirteen trillion not thirteen trillion that that's several administrations ago? It's twenty one almost twenty one trillion in terms of the official national debt, but. It would care to offer thoughts for Jim in Pittsburgh. Well, yeah. Mean it's thirteen dollars in thirteen trillion in debt China. I mean, our Colo you're talking about the trade deficit, right? And you know, the the the thing about it is we've got to be really careful with all this stuff me. Jim. We can't just go bankrupt. I mean, the United States has never done that our constitution says that we can't do that. So we're not gonna do that. But you know, the real fact is we have got to find a way to reduce our deficit our trade deficit and some of the things and one of the ways we're doing it is through tariffs. Now you proposed a fifty percent or twenty five percents error. Don't forget that's a tax on the American consumer tax directly on you and your family and everybody else. So let's not get too carried away with these towers because they backfire on us by definition. It drove NAFTA. I gather ab- lucky to you feel. It's a pretty good deal. I don't know that I think it's a pretty good deal. It's a better deal. And I I see that it's you know, they say, it's not NAFTA, redone. It's a brand new deal Cording to the president. But they say the major judgments are in the areas of the country's trading relationship sets new rules for automobile production. It's meant to incentivize production of cars and trucks and countries you pay higher wages, and it may reduce the barriers for American dairy farmers to sell cheese milk and other products to Canada, it retains a tribunal her resolving the trade issues that we have sought to eliminate so perfect. But it's better fair enough. Are we ever going to have free and fair trade? Jed. No, but we can get closer to it. I think going back to the thirteenth century when trade really began nations, you have not seen free and fair trade. You know, there are certain areas where you had leagues of nations that enter into it from behind the attic league who the European Union. They tried to trade equally amongst themselves. But even that falls apart at some level best. We can do the best. We can do is get better. Mr trump. I think is making things a lot better with the new enough..

"Fees billed later people. Can't stop listening. Phil. I'm a new listener. I really appreciate it. Really do a radio host. A lot of these guys. Reality. Is that right wrong? Here on the radio later than you with Bill lighter. Are welcome back into the show. Talking about Kareem hunt full line eight five five two one two four CBS keep trying to get through. And we'll get your calls. This hour statement from the NFL after some reporting around this very subject verbatim quotes. The NFL is placed Kareem hunt of the Kansas City Chiefs on the Commissioner exemption list, and as a result he may not practice play or a ten games the NFL's investigation which began immediately following the incident in February one clue review of the new information. That was made public today. End quote. All right. Eight five five two four CBS for me. Cream should remain on that list and being able to play by the exemption list means in effect. What you just heard? He also continues to get paid. And does not take up a roster spot for the chiefs while he is on it. It is a. Status that is at the sole discretion of Roger Goodell and the chiefs have no power or influence over. It is the real eight five five two one two four CBS is the phone number, by the way. Again, those of you crying foul. I think you're wrong also say I would be fired. I would not be suspended, and if I were wouldn't be with pay. So I think in the line of you're looking for fairness, I'm looking for Justice. This feels like a pretty good compromise to me not the why they one is necessary. I think he shouldn't play. And I don't think you should get paid either. All right. Eight five five two one two four CBS. Well, keep taking your phone calls over long you want to get into this topic. Let's go to Omaha Nebraska. Jim. Thank you for your patience. Appreciate you, sir. You're on CBS sports radio. Hey, bill. Great show. Thank you. You can clearly see on the videos all he had to do is keep walking be the bigger man bigger person. And just keep walking is brands could've hang back and told their leave him alone or we're getting security. I was at a marriage for five years and abusive marriage that I put her in jail four times for hitting me at several. I her back. I'm a much larger math. I would've hurt her a lot and. As for the chiefs. I'm huge fan. I go to Arrowhead a lot with my kids. It's a special place. I love going there. But I would rather stay cheap. Release him and lose every game the rest of the season because of it that I would see them keep them and go to the Super Bowl and wet. This box. Thanks for. Jim appreciate your thank you for the call eight five five two one two four CBS Kansas City Chiefs, and my connection to that organization is from my time living in KC. But it is a regional force. I mean, Omaha Des Moines Iowa into Kansas stretching eastward toward Columbia probably further. Now that the Rams are gone. There are some there's a lot of Cowboys fans in Arkansas, there's some cheese fans to I mean, guys like Jim folks families like Jimmy, you know, they they drive down. They go to that or to Arrowhead. It's an important part of that region of the country and a lot of respect for virtues fan calling in and saying what I think should be the obvious the guy shouldn't be there. He certainly shouldn't be playing and to those of you in this argument continues on Twitter at sports writer, sports, and my last name r. IT those of you that are saying that he didn't do anything wrong. He was defending himself. She used the war which is an accusation. She spit on him, whatever it may be all those things. Reprehensible, none of those things justify the assault. Cream haunt attacked her. I've seen the people are. I mean, I it's amazing the level to which people will delude themselves for whatever side of the argument. There are people making the didn't do anything who has defended himself. If you kick some a other down, you're not defending yourself by definition, come on eight five five to one two four CBS is the phone number Conrad, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Thank you for listening and happy Friday. Appreciate you. You're on CBS sports radio. Hey, happy Friday Bill to you to. Hey, here's the deal, man. These players in the NFL like, I definitely agree that this guy should be suspended. But are you surprised and I might surprise? No. I'm not surprised. I would anticipate that any moment any thing is gonna come across the wire than an NFL player's gonna do this. And that is the culture that we are in. And we are fooling ourselves. If we think anything else, I mean, this is a culture based on on gambling. On on violence. It's not Tig football. I mean pe- people may try to say that the NFL is getting soft. But the bottom line is these guys on like super duper adrenaline. And they are they're putting their bodies in their air entire spirits of are being in situations that we don't even know what it's like day to day. So you've got I mean, it's just a whole also gonna keep watching the NFL. And I guess I'm in the position. Maybe it's not, you know, maybe maybe doesn't matter. But I'm not gonna pretend that this is okay. Because I talk about sports for living because I love the NFL this show is certainly a place where we're going to talk about these topics. We're gonna hear them out. We're going to keep having these conversations eight five five two one two four CBS. John Lubbock, Texas. Thank you for listening. You're on CBS sports radio. Hey, Bill, get to talk to you again, man. Yeah. You know? One hundred percent Kareem hunt needs to be severely disciplined. I think arrested is probably more. That's the one thing that everybody keeps forgetting there's video evidence of salting somebody. I mean, how is that? Not a, you know, a charges pressed much less a suspension us number one. But number two. I do feel like all people need to be held accountable. Girl was underage drinking at a party public consumption alcohol in public. I feel like she needs to be held accountable for what she did. I'm not saying I'm not trying to victim blame hurt by any means on on the assault that he that. He is one hundred percent wrong. He needs to be held accountable. But at the same time, I feel like there's gotta be repercussions for someone out underage drinking at a party. Yeah. You know, it's not supposed to be consuming alcohol and she threw handed him as well. So you know that back to that whole thing in last night you, and I talked briefly about the Cowboys in Saint than I told you the magic number for Zeke was seventy they're five and one now they're six and when he got over seventy yards again last night. And look what happened to Cavaliers win. The magic number you call John thanks for the call, buddy. I'll say this an eight five five two one two four CBS is phone number. I just can't sit here and say that someone should be charged for underage drinking out that if my kids are listening that that's okay. Because of course, it's not. But I also was a twenty year old college kid who may or may not have gone to various bars in Columbia, Missouri. And had some drinks when he wasn't supposed to into the very large on Nebraska fan who came down to university, Missouri when I was twenty and I had perhaps been drinking. Thank you for not having beaten the living crap out of me for the things. I said you're very kind wherever you are. I can't I'm just nineteen and twenty year olds drink, right? I just I'm not saying this should not my kids are listening, especially or if you're. Nigeria twenty but come on. John. But John Lubbock thank you for the call. Now, if she yelled the N word, you can't prosecute that. But my sympathy for zero it does not mean zero's, not true. It would make that a person. I have very little regard for it. Doesn't mean that she gets to get assaulted by an NFL player just does world's a complicated nuance tough place. Here's a reality sometimes bad, people interact with bad people. And I don't know if she said that or not I do know that he attacked her. I've seen the video, but sometimes bad people interact with bad people. There are consequences for everybody's behavior. And for cream on those consequences should be a lack of playing time. A lot of it going forward. Eight five five two one two four CBS. We'll keep digging your phone calls and assuming the not as many calls. I think we'll take three or four more this. This then we'll probably get to call. Right. But will from NFL now, we're we'll just talk some football. But we will take the rest of the calls as they come in in Colorado, Ohio the rest of you at eight five five two one two four CBS gave you my word. We take all your calls. And so we will continue on righter than you with me. Bill Ryder after we get a CBS sports radio update. Jarvis..

"Karen, Georgia's has all the morning's news on these south Florida morning show. Tomorrow morning starting at five thirty five news talk eight fifty W F T L. Band camp show. Thanks so much for being here. I'm Jamie Markley. That is David van camp. Our producer is Craig Collins. And we have an update. Apparently, something I was wrong about earlier in the show. It's a fact check. And Craig wants scoreboard little bit. Apparently. Well, I mean, you guys have talked about how New York pizza's not the greatest pizza in the world. I got confused. You talked about some other stuff on the show today. Made me confused. But this does not you were yelling at me. You're criticizing me for merging late in traffic is that correct? Yeah. I think van camp even called you jerk. I think we're used. Okay. I'll let you. I'll let you run the correction. Okay. But I'll have a correction in my own here. If I think you're going down the road that that I think you're going down. Here's the story. The headline says we all recognize the jerks on the road when it comes time to merge, but actually everybody else is doing it wrong. The department. The Colorado department of transportation says that the correct way to merge is the zipper method, which you merge as late as possible in congested. Traffic officials recommend this late merge style in which drivers use the entire roadway and take turns at the very end of the closed lane to move one at a time. I believe I may have said exactly that apparently Colorado's been trying to get people to do this for decades. No, one cares. And I also said that is a thing you did your asset. That is. That is true. Technically that is right. You're supposed to line up evenly, and you go. The next person goes grabbing said, I always use the bird in the book. Phrase to describe situations. Like these have everybody is thinking they're being courteous by going over to the left side, and the person who zooms ahead of the line is still being a jerk now because you guys are all making the backup way more severe, according to this study. And even if you merge way further back when it's low congestion, it still has a negative impact. Although not as bad, but I'm not being a jerk. I'm the only one doing it. Right. Okay. I will admit that according to this story, and of course, Colorado, but you're right. And I was wrong there. Thank you. But sometimes I do look at, you know, the intent of a person, and nobody knows another man's heart. But in your heart. This morning. You're taking great joy. I think the word was those Jim folks that got left behind and I got to work way earlier. And I feel good about it. I don't even think it was. I think you're being nice. I call them idiots. Okay. Those more who were way behind me that were just trying to be courteous. I think their heart was in the right place trying to be courteous. They were trying to be dumb, and they were succeeding in being dumb. And I had to be smarter for everyone. Was your intent to be like man, if everybody doesn't my way it's gonna work better. Or it's like, I'm just for me here. No. I've always thought that if gonna use both lanes and go all the way to the end, we'll all go quicker. But the thing is nobody lets you in when you do that. So then the problem becomes that guy's jerky. Not mind if it is like a civilized society in a civilized situation and everybody is doing the right thing. And like, let's say a sudden accident happens on the road. And there are people who are stuck in one lane. And they've got to get over two lanes. I will absolutely let them in because it's wall to wall traffic, regardless. Yeah. But if everybody's getting over really early and the one guy speeds up I'm not letting that guy in not gonna do it see every that's not. That's also not happening though, people are getting over at all different times because they're all morons. I hope this happens at some point in time. I know we gotta move on. But I hope that it's both of you guys in traffic, and it's Craig trying to get in at the end because you both have GPS. Would we both playing fortnight somehow it's possible? Okay. But the thing is your Jeep, Greg. You care way less about than David I care about getting in. And so if there's an accident to be forced I'm thinking, there is going to be won the battle. Jeep will always went out. This is this is I mean, this this is the will finally find out what happens when an immovable object come into contact with an unstoppable force is this is what happened here. Not moving. Okay. I'll take a new vendor. It's all right. Cat knocks out power for thousands of people for I'm not a cat for what? Poor kitty menace. Knocked out power for thousands of people. Why did he do?
