"jim carrey" Discussed on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah: Ears Edition

"You are one of the most unique talents that we've seen. Across the board whether it's been stand up comedy drama. It doesn't matter when Jim Carrey does something he does it differently. That's what you're known for so I guess it's no surprise that you've. You've written a memoir that is. Part. Reality Part fiction I won't let you I didn't know I didn't understand it because I was told Hey Jim. Carey wrote a memoir. Then I was like Oh man, I'm excited. Then I read the book and then I call the person who got the book to me and I was like, but this is this. Is this real? Then? They were like well. It is, but it isn't. Can you explain what you've written best to approach? Everything I do As as something that could be completely untrue. And yet there will be parts of it. There will be. There would be things in it. That will be absolutely authentic. Okay. Maybe that's a blanket statement. You should trust me sometimes, but in this case you know this was the best way to get my truth out there and say everything I need to say, and and do it in a way that is completely entertaining and. You know hearkens back to Dante and all those wonderful apocryphal stories of King Arthur in the nicer, the roundtable and stuff you know that became somebody's history at a certain point in England history. You know and I just love that concept so. When we started writing together to start writing together, we were really just having conversation friendship. And such wild ideas came out of that that we had to go with it. We had to go with it. We didn't want to do a memoir that we didn't want to take stock of all the things that have happened to me and celebrate them and say Oh and by the way at. The time when the? told me I was worth something. I wasn't going to be. Something different. Do you want us as the readers to know what's real? And what's not real in the book, or is this your way of telling us the truth without telling us? What's Real I think people have an inner computer? An, inner sense of discernment that that Decipher What's real or not real even fiction. You know the best fiction. Moby Dick. It's like basically telling the story. What's happened to to US right now? It's not only a prophecy it's it's a truism. This crazy, power-hungry white maniac, WHO's trying to take the quad down all the races down with it? Mantle and finding the biggest white cock. That book! And, so you know you can do that with fiction. Fiction is a way to tell the truth. then. Let me ask you this. You've included celebrities in the book. You name like for instance you've got paltrow you've got kanye West Mention Nicholas Cage, but then this was streets. ME. Tom! Cruise is I. Think Tom Cruise in the book, but then you refer to him as Lazy Jack Lightning Laser Jack Lightning. Yes, right to the essence of the character there. because. If you stay in front of Tom, cruise for too long realize you're being groped. The laser is active. He's looking for things. Behind, your is some sense of doubt some weakness. You know and so in a way of kind of using litigiousness. You know of the LETITIA snus. Hollywood would just kind of. Gave a little, too that that whole concept that some people have to be careful with you know. You you wrote you wrote notes people. Has Anyone given you feedback? Has Anyone contacted you back and be like Yo? What I've had? So far. Joan, Dangerfield! Emailed me about Rodney and was so happy with how Rodney turned out in the book, and how I brought him back. I'm looking forward. Everybody's reaction waiting for a letter from Hopkins and. Tom Hanks's written something to me, it'd advisor be. Spoken to the powers that be done. or You know. I'm sure the luminaries meeting, right? Now so yeah, it's a wild thing to get you know it's it's. People see things in this book. There is like can I can read your little snippet of it, and in a story Charlie common has has us trying to convince me to play chairman now. Of course that's absolutely unheard of I can't do that. I already found this part of the book because he would talking about like like just like the the essence of what Hollywood's going through now trying to decide who can play whom you can. People played someone who may have been different ethnicity or different culture or different, and it's interesting that in the book you as Jim or not. Jim are going through this process. There's question whether it's right at all and Charlie up with some concede about me playing an actor playing actor playing chairman now who has all these in these conflicts? So. One night at a dinner party in my. By swanky backyard. I speak and I give a toast during. The dinner and it causes a few problems with my handlers so. This small part of. The American citizen is so lost. He doesn't realize he's a factory pick. Drugged and poison from the cradle to the grave. Shame to impossible debts, never ever free liberty. This land of invisible fences where all prisoners watching Capela on movie night. But nothing lasts forever. Europe's monarchy's sent. Their sons die in the trenches of sewn. Just as surely as we drove tank, check into the sea. You think America will be different. You think this era. Of consumption of gluttony will last forever. People not. Six thousand miles an hour around the sun at nobody's dried in this bitch said Gary Busey from the woods where. He was halfway up an eighty foot pine tree. Mr Kerrey you've you've got the pots? Congratulations, thank you. It like a lot of the book was about Persona. You know the idea of persona who we all who we think. We all who we wish people want us. You want to know who we want them to see us as. Gets big enough and powerful enough it. It's something you have to drag around with you. When you show up, you have to be the socially concerned. Politically adapt person. You know what I mean. You you. You might be happy to be that at certain times, but not all the time. That's not who you are. Ultimately. There's nothing you weren't you know so. That's my personal belief. And that's the belief. I try to spouse in the book. We got to a place that was not only. kind of science fiction, but it was. It was spiritual metaphysical. It was it was. Something of a way for the reading. Audience to free themselves from from self. From the burden of their own construct. And so I. Think Think we accomplished that. I think we. At least a moment of freedom. When did you get to the place? Yeah, when did you get to the place where you were like? Oh, I've got A. Little Bit of what everyone thinks I am, and then try and flex a little bit more of who I am I think the the the moment of shifting with somewhere around when I was playing Andy Kaufman and I got so deeply into that character, and I kind of lost myself as Andy and Tony, and afterwards I I found myself really struggling to remember again. Who Jim Carrey was, and what? His political beliefs are, what his choices are in his aesthetics. And and. It was. It was really awakening to me. It gave me a kind of a point of view into the the frailty of personae, well, if if I can place the also persona and get lost in it in, assume it then. WHO's Jim Carey. That, guy, you know and so. You Know Life Becomes A. Kind of a two step thing at at that point where you start to go..

"Jim Carey why Jim Carey trending because of his appearance in the sonic, the hedgehog movie trailer. So he is he's going to be a Ryan who's playing egg man, Dr robotic okay main antagonists in the sonic series. So hedgehog was the big that was Sega. I was never say a guy. So I played sonic. If you say say there, but I like the few times, I played it, very fine, sonic. Superfast little hedgehog, and he just buzzes through and that's kind of fun for I think some folks, however, Jim Carey is getting some popular positive praise rather online for having shades of just some nineties. Dr. Dre and Jim Carrey's pet sitter spills the dirt

"When you walk into someone's home, and it's up to you. If you want to disclose what have you done Khairpur, some pets of celebrities as well as just mortals living in LA? Absolutely. Absolutely. So Dr Drey I would say is probably my biggest client night took care of his dog. For a long time for many years, and Jim Carey and a couple of others. But those were probably the biggest, but you know, it's not just the celebrities who love to have a pet sitter. It's a regular people who need us. And I got a lot of attorneys and people who worked in the periphery of Hollywood like the agents, and those stylists another makeup artisan. They would say to me, you know, what Laura if you didn't do your job. I couldn't do mine because they work very long hours point. So did you ever get to meet him? Or Dr dre I met them both very briefly. I would see Dr trae all the time driving out of his house is yes. So he would always late. You've loved loved his dogs and his wife kids left their dogs too. You know? Were big loving family. And what about Jim Carey what kind of dog? Did he he was disgraced to his pets? He adopted a rescue dog that needed physical therapy, and he would rent pool time to have the physical therapists work with his dog in the poll. Oh, wow. Yeah. Amazing amazing. And you know, you made a good point they working long hours and pet sitters work long hours and dog walking. So is there any things that you've learned that have made you a better professional in this field. I think to communicate, you know, absolutely communicate with your clients and just make sure that you're letting them know what's going on. And also follow those directions. I think. Yeah. Right. We must people get in trouble. It's because they follow the instructions, you know, I'm had a hurt a story about a woman who was doing sitting in. She couldn't figure out how to put the harness on the dog. But the owner had said, you know, always as on he came back out of his caller like somebody dogs do ensure enough, you know, she took the dog on walks with just to call her in with harnessed on who she figured out in the dog got away and speaking of those directions, there are some folks that are very very detailed in their directions for specific like three three pillow. What some of the money? But essential instructions from clients that you have to follow that really pamper their dog. So many instructions, you know, you walk into the first day of a pet sitting in. There's usually what I call the book and. And I like the phone book. And then I had a client who would sticky things all over her house like oh Sammy likes to sleep here in Sammy will jump up here and had a sticky all over her house where her level talk. Sammy would like those were all the favorite spots and nowadays people have ring and all these other. So they can see when you come and go, but did you ever wonder if they've got cameras in every room, especially asleep over so how do you deal with big eyes? You know, what there's no expectation of privacy anymore. I used to be squeamish about asking people era cameras in. But now, I just straight up say, we are the cameras in your because you know, you're not legally supposed to record somebody without letting the note with people do it all the time. And especially if you're sleeping at someone's house. It's nice to know that they have eyeballs on you're even audio. It's better to know. And to that point. I always tell the people that I hire have a lot of independent contractors who work for me. I never do anything that. You would wanna see yourself doing in a court of law? Review: With the latest 'Grinch,' there's nothing much new

"So awhile ago, I wanna say number of months ago, we got shown a first teaser. Well, first of all got announced that oh, they're doing another grant of yet, another remake the Grinch for those that aren't aware. They did the original amid movie with Boris Karloff voice in the grant and narrating. And that one for a long time was the only one there was no Grinch anything in two thousand which I did Naji know this until recently that that's when it came out. It doesn't seem like it's been that long to me. But I digress. They didn't live action grant where Ron Howard. Did it directed it? Jim Carrey was the Grinch in it. In a lotta ways that it kind of expand on the story and kind of filled in gaps that we really didn't get in the book, or in the animated film that you know, we had had many many years ago, and some people were mixed about it. I personally really enjoyed it. I thought you know, Jim Carey did a great job the castle did a really great job had a good soundtrack, and it was a different fun film. And as I was watching the teasers for this new grant and the trailers, you know, where Benedict Cumberbatch this time voices. The grant turns out Keenan Thompson is in it as like a neighbor of the grant, and then then the girl from murder, she wrote her name's on the tip my tongue. It's she voices the mayor whose only for a little bit. So anyways. So this film. I was if you about it had my doubts, Mike, you know, what it could be good or it could be really bad. There's no in between. And I was able to see this movie this week. And yeah. I'm going to bring it to you everything about this film. I do warn you there may be some spoilers in here. I'm going to try to keep it as spoiler free as I can. But at the same time, I'm gonna you know, kind of this is going to be kind of a, you know, just true review. It's what's going to be so anyways. So this movie like I said has been come about just the grant it's computer animated. It's done by aluminum entertainment, the same company that's done. You know, the first three despicable me movies. It did minions which really my opinion were all actually really good movies, by the way, I had my dad's about minions to and I left going right minions. They did a very good job. So I thought you know, that going, you know, what I don't think it's going to be bad. I just didn't think. So. So anyways, I go and see this movie, which by the way is only like an hour, forty minutes long. It's not really a long movie. The live action version that Ron Howard derive. Acted was I think closer to two hours, and I'm just going to say it, the this movie is terrible. It has a really really really bad film is just man I was just like in shock. How bad it was.

"Rapidly searching for really important loss letter mighty. Scarf. Megan Megan gotta lean. Are you going? What do we have chaos grits? Nothing against gay people at all I'm not saying. But I'm just saying he's -sarily. He's maybe a Ted of feminine money. More than Ted. Okay. Lucky? We mad at me. The reason why he's the reason why he's bitchy here because he's in denial. You wanna man? When they go into. Of why he is away. He is. I'm like, I feel like there's something to this story that you're just not saying the look, I got a theory. This is nothing to do with this review is just me, and I'm messed up for it up. Okay. That's just me. But I'm not trying to look again. I'm not nothing against gay people at all. But if you like in the movie like when when he's when he's hanging out the house. I mean, his house he lives by himself. And he's supposed to be grinchey. You know, he's he's living off the ground. Right. You go up and his house. It's just as neat. It's tidy. He tries to decorate like because he's acting like he's teaching the lesson novel decorating because that's who you are. You wanna man that grits is bitter and angry because he's in denial, and that's what it feels like hell the other grinches like being got damn, man. It, you know, and it's look. It's not the wrong with that. It's like, I guess I guess what it comes down to like, I'm actually laughing at the way, he's acting. I mean, it's I'm not even mad about it. It's it's if he's gay he's cool. If you know, but he's definitely he's definitely definitely not that crusty. Oh, son of a bitch that we know from the original. And I'm gonna tell you something that what I see here actually makes me have a little more respect for. And I've always thought that Jim Carey did a great job with the Grinch regarding what thing about the movie, but I will tell you that in net version Ron Howard's the Grinch with Jim Carey. Lease. He was bitter. The hallway get was he was he Jim Carrey was the grinchey was in different than Boris Karloff. But he he did in by that character. It is funny because watching this I had to go like, you know, what I need to respect us this movie a little bit more than I have seen a couple of times afterwards like is still little too long. But it's not as bad as I remember, there's some things cut out. But I know I have a lot more respectful. What they did was with. This is almost like. They they soften this up because they knew that they were going for a younger audience. They they went out there way to not make the Grinch too scary. They didn't want him to be to mean. Which understand, you know, maybe not to the extent that they took it. I get it. But you know, I think if you know at this point I'm gonna pass this on the Martin. But because this is the point I'm gonna deviate from what I remember and comparing this with the other Grinch to what we have right here. But anything man, go ahead. No, that's that's the whole thing. I thought with this thing because when I saw the trailer. I was like I just don't concept don't like them remaking this because they didn't do a great job to last time. They did it and even even the class that we remember I was talking about how it's twenty four minutes, which is twice as long as it takes the read that's small book. But I went in hopeful. Well, let's see what new things they do it. They can introduce some new some new gags or take a have a different take on it different angle. It's not really different angle. They just make it soft. They smooth off every rough edge to the point where he's not not only not the nineteen sixty six. He's not a Grinch at all. He he's just a green guy. But they don't they don't like nobody treats him any differently. He lives alone. But he's like his big thing is just so alone. But he has all these signs say keep out while he has the best view in whoville like that's prime real estate. Anyway, you live. So you up on a hill. That's those are the most expensive houses. None of it, really..

James Marsden to Star in 'Sonic the Hedgehog' Movie

"Sonic movie has started production and we almost talked about this last week, but we had so much stuff to cover last week that I was like, oh, we'll get to. Eventually I was gonna say anything like, he's like, you know, we did. We really didn't have a lot this week, so it kinda worked out. Like eight con filled in nicely to Slad in. But okay, so I'm getting this from comic book movie dot com. Say, having started production only a week ago, the sonic the hedgehog film is already delving into nostalgia hills zone. A name familiar to fans of the franchise will be making its live action debut during the hybrid film, the location of Greenhills, which set the tone for sonic as the first games level. As the games I level seems to be under the watch of sheriff, Tom, which hausky played by James Marsden the film's human lead. Now, there's a couple of pictures of Mr. Marsden l. k. onset. They just literally within. Like a week or so, you know, just started filming. So you know, they're kind of doing principal for tiger fy and stuff at this point. But this is Mr. Marsden as Tom, the Cup. It's like, okay for anyone who hasn't seen any set photos. He's just like in like a sheriff's outfit like that Brown light Brown combo me myself and Irene, he kind of looks like Jim Carrey does. He does? He does. And then here's a another. One of them. Just, you know, fixing his little cowboy hat. Just like, you know, I don't remember a cop in sonic. It's it's going to be because they call it a hybrid movie is going to be like a live action CG tight. Okay. So like the cream for Robin Kennedy thing, think Alvin and the chipmunks project probably somewhere or like the Smurfs movie or something like that somewhere weren't

"But i will say uh that's that sort of my snarky description but an and is not inaccurate but this document is actually really good and really fascinating and it is good in fascinating mostly because it is much as much about jim carrey the man today as it is about this process that he went through then and i think if this heat he had a person fallen around behind the scenes and shoot a bunch of footage and it was a documentary in that actually was friends with as a former uh a mate former partner of any kaufman who actually filmed him behind the scenes so there's tons of footage cheer they must have gone through hundreds and hundreds of hours of footage to get with so it's very revealing its that's very all access all of that just technically as is fascinating to watch but i think that if all of this stuff had come out you know in 1999 or two thousand a right around the time that this movie was actually released it would not be nearly as interesting as it is coming out what eight years later seven years later at least that's what i'm confused by why is it now well they don't explicitly explain why that is but i think there was the there is some mention of the fact that he was a terror onset to all these people and the studio decided they did not want to tarnish the reputation of their star actor and sort of repressed all of this information there is a i don't know if he has remember at the time there was even a big news story because he sort of recreated this moment with thumb uh jerry the king lawler the ruin the wrestling stuff that any coffin did in his life and they they like a he actually provoked lawler and actually got injured or faked getting injured and in home is so there was like this met a thing going on in and actually hit the news and so there was a lot of chimaltenango round the production of this movie and the whole time yetlis form is like uh and the because he had the.

"In the case right like you we you we everybody we extrapolate the the recent pass into the future yes that's why every two thousand eighteen now look you read will basically just be in addition to what happened in two thousand seventeen we see this trend continuing or this trend will stop and yet it's the recent see bias which again it's it's easy but that's a good call by delio they're like that one and this is why momentum and value may be will be distorted by by money by eat by the etf physician bit but this is such a embedded human bias that it cannot be armed away i mean the cycles might be longer or shorter whenever but this will persist as long as people are come together in a marketplace yeah nike okay anything else you wanna get to what we've been consuming lately yeah sure so this weekend i watched the jim carrey documentary when he was playing eddie kauffman in man on the moon and anti kaufman you're not as a howard stern timid eddy kappend sort of reminds me of like a more contained sour shoes who's a wipe packer um and he was just sort of this wacky guide out his off the audience and do things that were just made no sense but anyway so so get it back to the documentary so jim carrey well what an odd person the document who was armed sort out of all sorts because the document which is so unusual and very powerful so i'm not sure they like necessary liked it as the right word but it was definitely worth watching while he was on comedians and cars getting coffee with seinfeld i dunno if your watch that one and he definitely seems like one of those celebrities who is trying to be so selfaware that he's not selfaware that makes sense a key seems like he's gone off the deep end yeah he strikes me as he is even past the point of what is the meaning of life like he's three slice passed that yeah so that was that was something and on the other one i watched so my wife has been bugging me to watches she saw it she saw one trailer for this movie and has been on me about it so we watched it.
