"I hear that. I don't hear that very often with white coaches. I hear that a lot with African Americans. Like, you know, he did an interview. Willie Randolph was former baseball player. I was told, you know, Willie just doesn't interview that well. Okay. After a while, you understand how to interview. You understand what the questions are, what they want when you go in there, but the fact that Eric Vienna may have to go to another team to prove that he can be a head coach at age 53. And I've said it before, not every coordinator deserves to be a head coach, or will be a good head coach. You might deserve, that's not fair. You might deserve it, but that doesn't mean you're good at it. I didn't think Charlie Weiss or Romeo Cornell were going to be good head coaches. They were good coordinators with the Patriots. I don't know if Josh McDaniels is a good head coach with the Raiders. But he was a good coordinator, a great coordinator with the Patriots. And Eric Vienna might not be a good head coach. But I think he deserves the opportunity to be a head coach. Jim Caldwell is another name. Jim Caldwell did a great job. Look at what he did in Detroit. Obviously what he did with the colts. He had a great team that he took over. Jim Caldwell is now Frank Reich's assistant coach in Carolina. He's not going to get a head coaching job again. What the Texans did with minority head coaches. Nobody wanted the job because they knew there were going to be sacrificial lambs. And that's what happened. Both of those coaches knew. I mean, lovey Smith ended up winning a game that they didn't want them to win. It's like, what are you doing? Well, he wants to win. He knows he's not going to keep the job. Once you get a little bit better, hey, now we're going to bring in somebody else. So that was the topic of conversation I had yesterday afternoon with somebody who works for the NFL. And I just said, you got to help me understand this glass ceiling that we have here. And we're going to give everybody an opportunity. All he doesn't interview that well. You know, he didn't get the credit. Whenever there was a great play in the Super Bowl, they always focused on Andy Reid. I don't get why people have given up on Rex Ryan so much. And I know, listen, you can say I'm a Homer, but Rex isn't old. You know what I mean? If Jim Caldwell is getting his third shot, getting another opportunity and getting called by teams, while when you want a guy like Rex, when you see where the game is trending, we said that we thought that the game was trending to air in the ball out and all that stuff. Yeah. Who's the guys that we fear the most? These teams just running his football. Who's the ground and pound king? Rex Ryan. Who's the defense dragged out like right now the most dangerous team is Tennessee in Indianapolis and people think that, you know, San Francisco is a dangerous team. And by the way, how did Philadelphia turn their season around? Running the ball every damn time and not letting their young quarterback throw it at all? That's what it is, right? It's that same thing. I can have a young quarterback, so I'm not paying him a ton of money. And I could have him in a situation where if I have a great offensive line and I have running back, you don't even need great running back. Good ones, right? How fresh legs? Yeah. And isn't that something about the NFL? Like, you can have your Aaron Rodgers. You can have your Tom Brady's. You can have you Patrick Mahomes. Like that. Those guys, they're special. Yeah, you can't find them. You can't find them. But there's ten out of 32 of them. Yep. And then after that, it's a lot harder to win. So it's amazing to me how there's so much of that chase for the golden ticket quarterback when the other way to go when you don't have it. Look, Cleveland has that formula. They do. But they just don't do it enough. They have the two headed running back. They had the offensive line and instead and I can't get over that. We talked about it yesterday. How every time baker through the ball on Monday night, Peyton Manning looked like he was going to throw up in his mouth. It was like, oh, we're going to throw it again. Okay. Well, we're going to throw it again. He's a quarterback. They want to throw the football. These are these guys are dumb. But hey, like you say that about Rex and I do think that if you're an NFL team and you need a little spark. Yes. He's good for your market. He's obviously a good front man. He's really good at it. But it's also, I think the thing that hurts Rex is that he's become and I'm not going to, when I say he's become a character, I don't mean it in a negative way. It's just that there's a persona about him now. A person is loquacious, right? He's out there. Everybody wants their mute point type of guy that guy that's going to be monotone. There's going to be Bueller, Bueller, Bueller, Bueller. A little bit more sizzle tonight. It's going to fire up your team, which you know first. And your fanbase and your fan base fit, but also somebody that can put together a tremendous staff. He can call he can put together a great defensive staff. He's worked with Bill Callahan. He can go get a Bill Callahan to do your offensive line, give him a crap load of money. He's the offensive line coach for right now for Cleveland, right? So Rex has coached with some of the best minds that are around right now. He can put together a tremendous staff. I find that interesting, Mandy. What I was trying to say though is the thing that precedes him is the personality persona, the bombastic, you know, takes and reactions and all that stuff. And unfortunately, what we are for what we forget because it's been a bunch of years. Is that what you know, again, what you were just talking about is the network, the connections, the system, the belief, the understanding, the lineage, right? It's in his blood, all the things that are very important to coaching. A U coach a game and you're not going to get out coach. You're going to be prepared for everything. You have a defense for everything. You've seen almost everything, right? You have all that. And so that part of it, I think, gets overshadowed because all we really know now is the personality, right? The personality, but it's maybe just going to work against them, maybe not. Maybe there will be a team that finally says, hey, listen, I need a guy like this. Maybe there will be. Because we shall see. We know that. Let's look at the guys that have been hired in recent years, right? We look at the young guys, right? We look at the Zach Taylor if we look at the Joe judges, you know, it's been about 50 50 as far as them being ready for the moment, right? You know, the Matt nagy's guys that are ready to be able to lead men, right? Rex comes in no matter what with the level of credibility. Jim Caldwell comes into a room with a level of accountability and credibility, right? And so when you go out and you get one of these college coaches or these first time coaches, you spend about 5 months before the team even believes in them. And then you have to get to the season and see how he responds to adversity. Right now, Joe judge has a respondent to adversity well at all. You need somebody that's been there, that's been in the biggest market in the world and slung arrows because he came in and he threw a rock at the giant, right? He threw a giant ether rocket Goliath. The first day he threw a rocket Goliath, like we ain't here for that. And guess what? He went toe to toe with Goliath too, right? And listen, and we know at this point what he went to war with. The thing is, a lot of these job openings, they have something to offer to Rex, that he has never had. And that is a true franchise quarterback. If he goes to Rex goes to the Redskins. I'm sorry, if he goes to the Raiders. It's the best quarterback Rex has ever had. If he goes to who else has an opening, if he goes, he goes to Jacksonville. Best quarterback he's ever had. Like he's never had what we would consider a franchise quarterback. He had Tyrod Taylor in Buffalo. How about Minnesota? Minnesota, that would be the how about Minnesota? That would be the best man. Could you imagine what he would do to those with those defensive weapons that he has? With a rented game, like Dalvin cook yeah. What? Dalvin cook, Dalvin cook Thomas Jones. Thomas Jones is a great running back. A good running back, right? Dalvin cook is more special than Thomas Jones. Man, come on, son. Come on, you see people, people see sometimes perception is reality in this league. And you know, you see the same guys get recycled. And he's a guy that you would at this point because he's had two jobs now? He's a guy that would be considered a retread. Yeah, but listen, he got fired from buffalo. Buffalo, and he was 8 and 8. "I hope the plan isn't just, well, it's easier to do nothing because, oh my gosh. I don't really understand. I don't know what Joe judge has done to deserve a third year in New York. But maybe they get a new GM and suddenly it's great. I don't know. But I heard the Giants were keeping Joe judge and Daniel Jones. And it went, well, again, there's a lot of job openings and there's not a lot of quarterbacks. So I don't understand it, but that's what they're doing and best of luck to them. Apparently. Let's talk about the Jacksonville Jaguars coaching search. Apparently, first of all, I heard two names that I love. Love, love, love. In the Jaguars coaching search, apparently they are considering Jim Caldwell to be their head coach. They're also interviewing and considering Doug Peterson. Jim Caldwell. Is the last code you got the Detroit Lions to the NFL playoffs. I love him. He got unjustly fired. Doug Peterson was a guy who I thought did pretty well. One is super cool. I mean, good coach Mike McCarthy won a Super Bowl too. I'm not saying you're great suddenly if you want a Super Bowl but Doug Peterson of that got fired because the owner wanted more control and Doug Peterson didn't like that. They also the Jaguars apparently requested to interview both of the Buccaneers coordinators defensive coordinator Todd Bowles and offensive coordinator Byron leftwich as well as the cowboys coordinators. That's defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn, and offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Now the guy, the name that got me excited though. "Going to stick around, even if they hired enemies, he's still going to be difficult. I think they'll go with whoever they think the best candidates. It might be Eric the enemy, but it might be Jim Caldwell. Or it might even be Matty before. I don't understand what's going on with this Josh McCown thing. I have no I mean, you are talking about the ultimate Middle finger to watch. And, hey, we're gonna hire a head coach who's never been a coach ever at any level, so I don't even understand what that is. But I think it's kind of chicken and egg right now, Peter, where even if you have if you don't love Eric, the enemy. You can't hire him just a piece of quarterback who still wants out. If you do want to play chicken here and say we're gonna hire because we think this is going to matter then you do hire him. And if you like him, then it doesn't matter anyway. You should've hired him already. Sure. "It's not just about defense. It's something that he's done in every stop of his collegiate career, and I expected to continue in Jacksonville. Urban Meyer is an excellent football coach, and he's not gonna have to call the plays. He's not gonna have to run the defense. He's going to be an overseer. And he's very bright. He's very intelligent. He gets the most out of his players and his staff. The problem I have with the Urban Meyer higher is that you've seen it it every one of his stops that he other burns out or leaves for health issues. Right. So listen, I'm not saying that you don't hire him because of it. If he gives you for five years and he gets you guys started and he developed sharper, Lawrence, and maybe you can groom a coach in the interim. But the problem with urban Meyer is that I've seen him. I've seen the end of Urban Meyer in a couple of other places, right to where, whether it's the health or whatever. So the jacks did very well with urban Meyer. But Also I feel like that you're getting you know what you're getting with Urban Meyer, the excellent coach. I think the Jackson a good job with it, but also realized that this isn't going to be forever. This isn't going to be where you look at some of the other coaches being hired and your expectation or your hope is that he's your coach for the next decade, not just a couple of years. So that's uh that's what that's what happened with with the Jags the Falcons higher. Arthur Smith, the offensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans, 38 years old. Hey, interviewed with the Eagles as well and based on where he coached and where he predominantly was a professional as a coach was a lot of southern universities or Southern teams. Why won't NFL teams hire minority coaches?
"Three head. Coaching spots have been filled this week. But none of those. Three coaches were minorities while the Rooney rule has been followed. Some are beginning to believe that minority forty candidates are not being taken seriously for the open jobs and anonymous African American. NFL Assistant Coach said that the League has quote finally shown. It's not the place as for black men to advance. It's ridiculous it's disgusting. We can sell tickets and make plays but we can't lead Shannon. Why isn't the Rooney rule role working? Well I think until skip this diversity thing yeah. Diversity is a great great to talk about but until you get someone the leadership position that says you know what. I don't just want to talk about it. Formula Teens are using now or they get the coach. I coach brings in mm somebody. He knows he can believe in. They understand the salary cap in the same way and can do all that administrative stuff together. I think that's that's a formula that looks like it's working in a few spots.

"All right so if you were paying attention yesterday to the and a half of al you saw the Packers beat the Redskins at Lambeau field I I watch that game and it's interesting we are a ten win team Michael Spaulding but people still a little bit so tense little uneasy as we head into our next game of Chicago Bears next Sunday at Lambeau field yeah twenty to fifteen yesterday wasn't a pretty game but it was a win significance in the fact that it's a double digit win season it also gave metal for his tenth win as the head coach becoming the first Packers first year first time coach in Packers history with ten wins years before after the game ever apologize for winning we're always going to feel great about winning but you always want to go out there and put your best performance out there and you know I I think there is there's more out there for that for us log but when yeah it was not a pretty well as Aaron Rodgers sentimental for sentence and several others and then like and an endless string of sports writers in the sports commentators maybe we shouldn't complain they're the they're in the second seat position for the NFC that means that we get a first round bye in the whole state the second round playoff game those are all great things here's my thing now as a fan I'm happy they have ten wins but as a fan I'm also concerned about the state of the team when they struggle for example we've been complaining for the last fifteen weeks are solved I'm going back in the preseason lack of return game we complain about it finally yesterday we saw punt returner come on the field could actually gained positive yards for the first time this season and I into some other areas in the team that I concerned about which is their secondary some of the other things that they do Dave not getting down the offense of line that's legitimate concerns was so I appreciate the ten wins and I love the fact that meant the Florida as as first year as head coach is able to knock it out of the park already and I think he's got a chance to tie some some NFL records if you can when outs which is three games against the the bears Vikings alliance all NFC north teams if you can do that I think you'd have thirteen wins which I think would break the record or not tie it top tier yeah which I understood and all the other coaches that are on that list most of them are hall of fame coaches yes some of them some of them also looked into a situation Jim Caldwell his first year he had paid many one forty yeah there's always those situations but no I'm not complaining I just wanted to be as good as possible and for all those folks who who like to scold us fans for the in their mind not appreciating the ten win season I appreciate it I also don't want to be scolded about it because when they get to the playoffs are not good enough to beat some of the other teams I think you're gonna be the one that's crime at that time not predicting anything I think they have a great chance long have Aaron Rodgers you can win any game we saw that in twenty ten they ripped through the the road games all the way to the Superbowl and beat Pittsburgh in Dallas so I mean it's all
