"I mean, Harris is one of those guys that doesn't really jump off the page at you or jump off the screen at u either one. I mean his numbers on blow. You away is athletes, isn't doesn't blow you away. But he's he's very consistent. And I think what you really seven first of all he seems just from from everything that I've been exposed to to have have great character. Which is not just you know, someone who's going to represent the team. Really, well, but I think he's gonna be asset in the locker room wherever he goes. But I think you you saw from his sophomore year to his junior year, the work that he put in order to get faster, and you always had good, you know, running ability of but he was lacking breakaway speed. And I I still wouldn't say he's a speedster. But I think it was a noticeable difference in his ability to make long runs in his last two seasons because some of the work. That he had put in in order to get past or in order to lose a little bit of weight. And and do that he is a I would say is probably an above average receiver for running back. I don't know that I would put him in Josh Jacobs category. As a as a receiving back. But but I think he solid in that area. And I mean, he's one of those guys just strikes me as as being a just a second option. I I don't see Damian Harris as a you know, as a a primary back who's gonna be getting the bulk of the carries. But I do see him as a guy who could have a long career, just you know, being able to, you know, take a few carries here catch a few passes there. Now, that's kind of that's kind of what he looks like to me, not not not a real big guy. So like I said there's nothing about as measurable. It's gonna jump off the page at that just say, he's he's solid. So let me tell you. What's happened in the last week or so so? I talked to Jim Brandstatter, the voice of the Michigan wolverines just last night. And he's pretty optimistic Michigan for this upcoming season based on schedule. What do you think? Yeah. Look so so last year, the the playoff predict or kind of raised some eyebrows when it had Notre Dame going into the season the team fourth most likely to make the playoffs, and and you can say got lucky whatever you wanna say that was pretty good way to debut. It was Clemson Alabama Notre Dame at four, and then I believe Oklahoma was number seven seven most likely to make the playoffs. So it didn't did pretty well the first year and now Michigan is is third most likely to make the playoffs behind Clemson and Alabama again. And look I get it that there were a lot of people going into the game last year saying if Michigan can't beat oh has this year. I don't know when they're going to do it because it did feel like going into that that all of the advantages were to Michigan. And we saw what happened on the field. And I know it it. It sounds strange to say the same thing again a few months later, but I think once. Kind of take a step back. And you look at the way everything played out. I I would say it's it's still true. Which is that if Michigan can't beat Ohio State this year. I don't know when they're going to do it because that is the one game on the schedule that you still have to just question because of the the recent history in that series, and yet we have to acknowledge Ohio State lost a first ballot hall of fame coach, and they're replacing him with a guy who has three games head coaching experience. They lost the starting quarterback who put up one of the best seasons in the history of the big ten and they're replacing them with a guy. Who's never started a college football game. And on top of that Ohio State goes to Michigan. And so having that game in Ann Arbor along with like, you mentioned the rest of the schedule the way it lays out with the with with Notre Dame. Also coming their this is their chance. And I you know, I sure they got a lot of really good players replace on defense. But I I think their offense should be really good. And I I'm a little uneasy as to how much more the playoff or how much the playoff predictor likes Michigan more than Ohio State. I would think that like in my mind, there are a lot closer than that. But but yeah, Michigan is is is very clear favourite to win the big ten according to our metrics. I don't know that there's clear cut in my mind. But there's a lot of stuff to like about Michigan. Look if if if the Ohio State series had not been what it has been over the last ten plus years. I. I don't think we'd be looking at Michigan the same way. But I just think there's this reluctance to to believe or skepticism, you know, as far as them actually winning that last game when it when it finally gets there. And lastly talked to Ryan Harris, the radio voice of the Notre Dame fighting Irish on the radio side. And he I went to the spring game this past weekend. And so optimism there as well. With Notre Dame a good feeling feeling that a lot of people around their feeling that they can take another step this year. What do you think? Yeah. I mean, certainly they gotta be excited coming off of last year. And, you know, having some good pieces back now, this is this is where the schedule becomes an issue because last year that schedule was pretty friendly. And look, you never know. They're always times that we look at these schedules for season starts, you know, like, okay. That's an easy win. That's an easy win that one will be a tough one. And then some of the teams that we thought were going to be good or not. And some of the teams that we thought would be kinda average in being good. So you you never know this for sure, but as we sit here in April at Georgia and at Michigan. That's the ask Stanford shouldn't be a piece of cake either at the end. And so with those three games on the road. I think it's tough to get too excited about Notre Dame chance of getting back to the playoff because I mean, let's let's be realistic. They're not getting in with two loss, especially I mean, no one's gotten in the playoff to office yet. But to get in with two losses and not be a conference champion, which Notre Dame. Obviously can't be it seems almost impossible. So they're going to have to win two of those three games to even have a chance. And I think you know, depending on the year and how things play out elsewhere. I don't even know that a one loss Notre Dame is a lock I know that people who follow the sport for a long time. So there's no way. Committee league at a one loss Notre Dame. I don't know. I mean, you put him up against a one loss team. That's a conference champion if it comes down to that for the last spot. I I don't think it's slammed down. And so you look at the the rest of that schedule. There aren't aren't a lotta aren't a lot of top twenty five teams on their based on. What what I think, you know, some of these are going to be I mean outside of those games. So so to me, that's what it really comes down to especially Georgia Michigan. They're going to have to find a way to win one of those two games in a hostile environment. And they can't do that they'll end up having a good season. But it'll be disappointing compared to last year. Well, you heard it here here. I folks Brennan words tapping down the expectations for the funny. Well, I tell you what you of all people know, you don't just you just you don't just walk in between the hedges and roll you're helping out there and think you're going to come out with a victory, right? Well, I'd see that's one loss for sure there's no way. Coming after the victory. That's not happening. I just thought that Michigan and Stanford. It'll be interesting. But I if if it's one loss if that's going to be the one if they run the table the rest of the way good for them. But if one loss is not good enough for them to get into the final four. Then this is what this is what you deal with. I mean, it was bad enough that you had sixty percent Georgia fans in south been the last time these two met and now them going to happen. That's going to be an uphill climb for sure. Yeah. Yeah. I I I love these games. And you know, Notre Dame being an independent, can you know can play several of them in a year. But it's college football fans, we love to see these teams that you don't normally see on the field together. And this'll be a this'll be five win as always Brad. I appreciate your time. We'll talk in the fall. All right. Sounds good. Jonathon, take care. Thank you Ren Edwards with us as we talk about the NFL draft and college football under the hood would Jonathan hood. When the selection committee announces their second ranking, and I say that not just because of how dominant Michigan. Well, somebody's always gonna lose between Alabama analysis. You one of those teams is going to drop down. It'll be interesting to see if it's Alabama. How far they do fall. By clearly Michigan as stated its case for the top one loss team in the country, unless LSU beats Alabama. They still have to be behind Notre Dame because of that head to head result. But that being said Notre Dame loses. Northwestern wouldn't surprise me. If they jump ahead of the Irish, see Irish and wildcat kickoff momentarily. It's on ESPN television tonight. Stay with Michigan. They'll because their ability to run out to win out. It goes through Columbus. What if Michigan loses in Columbus, Ohio state, which did beat Nebraska today? But did not look good at thirty six thirty one. Could the big ten actually be a mess? It could be a mess and you're right based on how high AllState has played they have not looked like a top four team. But if they finish as a one loss conference champ with a win over what we've seen to be a very good Michigan team. Then I think the committee would have a hard time leaving them out depending on what happens in those other conference's final game of.

"The soundtrack of college football chaos. The announcers losing their minds. House. Here's the festival weekend excessive celebration. The east Lansing as we mentioned. This one was shipping for the outset during the pre-game walk through Michigan state walking, arm and arm as a team as they normally do walking the length of the football field while wolverines were out there. Trying to warm up. There's a confrontation. And during the game. Obviously, it was a chippy affair. It was an aggressive affair. But at the end of the day. This was a win. Jim Harbaugh team is not normally become accustomed to which is beating a rival especially on the road, especially Michigan state, but they pulled the trick yesterday. Twenty one to seven and the wolverines get out of there with the victory. It's the football back to throw looks throws throwing deep down the right sideline. And it's caught the fifty thirty. "Welcome back to Spartan stadium in east Lansing. Jim Brandstatter, Jon Jansen Doug, Karsh statistician Bob Ross occur. Spotter Brett curly. Our engineer. Tony butler. Glad to have you along with us for this backyard brawl and three quarters. Listen to these numbers Michigan with three hundred eight yards of total offense to the Spartans eighty seventy rushing. Michigan state nineteen attempts seventeen yards Michigan with one hundred and four yards rushing. Higdon has twenty carries for ninety five and through the air. Michigan has two hundred and four yards to Michigan state seventy worke just six of twenty four for seventy yards shape. Patterson thirteen of twenty three two hundred six and two touchdowns and listening to those numbers if I had my eyes closed I would say this game was about twenty four to nothing and really should be without the turnover inside the nine yard line without the turnover. We had down here in scoring. Range the opportunities that we've had in the red zone. There are a lot of points that Michigan has left on the field, which all of that means absolutely nothing because right now, it's still fourteen to seven John. That's why I think this possession for Michigan is so vital. It is start the fourth quarter. You need to be able to March down the field. And we've already seen captain Koran. Do a great job of five yards on first down. Breaking a fifteen yard run. I mean, those are the things that you need to see from your playmakers. If you're going to get the opportunity to handle the football club. Donovan people Jones is a big playmaker today in the fact that he hit a seventy nine yard touchdown pass from shape Patterson to break a seven seven times on a first and ten from the Michigan twenty one yard line. And it's the passing game in my judgment that I think is gonna loosen up the Michigan state defense and let the running game go even though Higgins near one hundred yards rushing, which is an accomplishment against this front seven. Michigan state's got a great rushing. Defense are number one in the country coming in today. Exactly. And and Hayden with near one hundred yards Saint a lot. But they need more from them with fifteen minutes to play. They've got a fourteen seven lead. They got a first and ten from the Michigan state forty nine under center Patterson. The loan setback is hey, did they give it to hit? It breaks it around the right side gets back to the line of scrimmage. That's it. David Dowell is there along with Rick Juan Williams? But there just wasn't a lot of movement. Upfront. We had a lot of success. And it would be nice to be able to see the same success off the other side. Second down and ten wolverine. Picked in the running back Nico Cowan's splits wide, right people's Jones wide left shotgun for Patterson tight in McKean. Right tight end, gentry left. Shotgun factor thrown Patterson looking throwing peak down the sideline intended for people's Jones in this time. Good coverage out there. Was secure Brown did the job covering people's Jones tried the same fly route. But people Jones could not get behind Brown. So it's third down in ten. I liked the shadow. Liked the midfield. It does create a third at ten which doesn't put you. Great of converting this. We've done it before. But I like taking those shots down the field. Loosen up that front seven a little well, the big key here is you've got to protect shape Patterson on this third and ten. He's in the shotgun. Higgins to his left three receivers split left. Screen out wide. It's Nico Collins. And he fights his way down inside the forty five to the forty one yard line. They needed to get to the thirty.

"I from London titans and chargers then Brady and bats coming off that big one over the Jeeves collide with the bears Soldier Field. Followed by a bag NFC showdown between the Cowboys and Redskins. Have FedEx way up of the NFL today and nine AM eastern, six Pacific and start your full day of football on CBS. Brandy is back legend, Jim Brandstatter when it comes to football in the state of Michigan. He's god. Here we go with the warranties and Spartans again, it doesn't get any better than this. I gotta ask you, Jim. First of all has always a great pleasure to have you on. I mean, huge vantage. You know, I wanna say I believed in Jim Harbaugh. Another thing, you know, since the job I've been selling that. This guy is the best guy for the job. He's doing that. It's gonna happen. It's all going to come together. And they finally kick someone's ass that people thought we're going to beat them in Wisconsin. I mean, they really gave him the business. And I thought it was a big step for Harbaugh's wolverines. And now they have their next challenge. These three games with the break and then going to beaver stadium in two weeks. These are the three key games. I think in his career there a turning point. I think for in a positive direction for that was a big win. Yeah. It was a big win in first of all it's great to be with you against Gotti. Appreciate you calling and the big thing for her by. And it's just a matter of time. It was finding that guy could run his offense and shape. Patterson has been the difference. I'm gonna against Wisconsin he reeled off an eighty one yard run through the ball. Well, and he's running the offense. The Jim expected to run, you know, he had Jake rude. I guess I really didn't have a quarterback he needed the next two but this year shape, Patterson's doing a great job. The offense of line has gotten better. And this would thing is ready to jump make that jump. I think and delete status, but you only make it if you win, and that means you gotta beat Michigan state on the road, be Penn State at home. I gotta tell you. I have said on this show all season that if they can win these three games if somehow they can find a way, and I think the key is that this game they're better than Michigan state this year. They are a better football team. They are better defensively. Now, I'll give you this Michigan state at a huge win. So I think they got back on their feet last week. So they're ready for this game by no means am I disrespecting Michigan say, but I think Michigan is a better team. And then to have two weeks off to prepare for that Franklin team in the big house that if they win those three games they will finally play Ohio State in a game. That matters for me for the first time in twenty years that will really mean something it'll it'll have stakes like the highest they've been frankly, if you ask me since Boeing Woody. Yeah. I think so the only other one I can think it was big. Scotty was what two thousand six when they were both on beaten. It went down to Columbus. They were wanting to and, but if the Michigan, but again, the whole story, you know, it you've done all your life. You gotta get to that point. You can't stumble along the way. And that's what Michigan has to do this week. Go into east Lansing. I agree with you. I think they're probably the better team. But in a rivalry game. You got win. It you've got to make it happen. You can't talk about it. You can't look to the papers. You gotta do it on the field and come out with more points than the other guy. And that's what they have to do this week. And then do Penn State then that sets up a stretch run to get to Columbus and meet the buckeyes out the works. You do you think that Michigan in your view brandy that they should be favored by a touchdown on the road and Spartan stadium a place where they've had their own fair share of misery. I would have said so if you say wouldn't have beaten Penn State, but I think now at Michigan state feeling pretty good about themselves. And you know, the odds on these things are basically all about the guys in Vegas. They want an equal amount of money. I both teams. So what I what is that number? I don't think it's a full seven points. I'd maybe go five or four something like that. And I think you get I think you get money on both sides right there. But any slanting after Michigan state Penn State? I think it's a little tighter than it would have been had stayed gotten beat pen think that. Michigan state beating Penn State is any indication to you that there is that probability that you know, Michigan can do it too because they went to beaver stadium. And did it you got him in the big house? That's gotta mean something to me that they went there and beat them. You got him coming to you got it for you gotta take advantage of that. You gotta take advantage. You got to do that. And that's the thing. I think it's important that you when you have an opportunity you've gotta take advantage of it. Michigan's got the opportunity that the whole seekers sets up after the opening loss to Notre Dame nine conference. Nobody can nobody will talk a little lick about that if Michigan gets the highest their game, unbeaten then all of a sudden, they're probably top five to top five teams playing each other at that point. And the winner goes to the big country chip, and and clearly the winner of that. That'd be good championship games goes into the final play offs. So everything's in front of you. But you've got to play them one at a time. I hate to be go. Loyd on you here you've got to take care of that first step before you get to the second step in that first step is east Lansing. Michigan state win that game. Take your bye week. And then get Penn State the following how brutal was that ending of that game that everybody in Ann Arbor hates talk about the the the meltdown d you how like what was it? Like when you are actually sitting there calling that game. So I get punched in the stomach. The game was one you were ready to party. You're ready to crack that beer. And then all of a sudden somebody came over and took the beer away. Said no you can't have any of this anymore. Just sick to your stomach a Michigan fan. And conversely, if you're. You just got like, you know, something came down from heaven and pardon view from the grim reaper. Because that's what that's how big that bobbled. Punt was in Michigan state wins it in the final ten seconds in Ann Arbor, and all that expectation and the hope for Michigan went away and all the joy and unbelievable. Look how good fortunate how fortunate we are went to Michigan state. It was just awful. It's as bad as I felt after loss that I can remember the last two decades. So this kid people's Johns, I like watching him what they've done with him. You know what I mean? Absolutely. He's the real deal. Know. You get more opportunity because Tariq black who was going to be a big time receiver. He got hurt early. And he hasn't played so people's Jones in this kid Nico Collins, they've gotten more in the NBA you'd say they've gotten more minutes, but what they've done with those minutes is what's important people's Jones has scored on a punt return. He scored to the past. He can run into around. This guy is the real deal. Here's a triple threat. If you will is already turned. He's only sophomore he's returned two kicks two punts for touchdowns in his career. So he is a he has a lightning rod, and and you've got to get him the football and this series kind of coming into his own, you know, as a freshman you kinda out there playing around. Now, you get it. But he's beginning to really get it. So the defense is what I love about this football team. It's the best in a country and its come into its own in the last like, you know, three or four weeks where they've really started. I thought it it. It really changed for me at Ryan field where they were down big. And they somehow you know, one that football game. And I think they did it with defense. And I thought they did it with their front and their linebackers. It was insane. And now, they're laying dominant. Michigan defense. They gotta be licking their chops that coaching staff seeing that they've got that much talent on that side of the ball. Well, they are. And I think you're right. I think northwestern game was kind of a watershed game 'cause they're down seventeen nothing. That'd be shut north western out for the final three quarters and then to come back against Wisconsin. And maybe Heisman Trophy winning running back to number one Russia in the country at basically, hold them to truly just seven points. And Jonathan Taylor did not hurt you. He got a hundred. But he didn't hurt you could do that to a team that offensive. Nobody's been able to do that too in probably two years that defense is playing with great confidence. And and Scotty, I gotta tell you. I've been. Watching Michigan longtime. I'm not sure I've ever seen a more athletic defense than this one. They can run Devon Bush is an absolute animal inside sideline to sideline. He can play shakes gets after the quarterback. He's he's a tackle for loss machine. They just Don Brown. Does the defense coordinator he puts people in positions where if your quarterback, and you step up to the line of scrimmage, and you're looking for a pre snap read. You're looking at that defense. You're going. What are they doing? And the next thing, you know, you've got two guys free Russia, and you're on your. But that's what that defense can do. What is? Lastly Ellen ask you Randy the the Harbaugh where is he mentally in an Arbor. Like, he's got all this abuse. Hot seed fire, and he can't beat Michigan state and can't be Penn State. It can't beat Ohio State sucks in big games. It can't be the top fifteen team and get him outta here. Everybody's abusive. Does he love the job is he excited going to work every day is he happy. Yes. Yes. And yes. He loves the job. He's happy. He's kind of been flying a little bit under the radar. He's not been you know, the Jim Harbaugh the kind of idiosyncratic Jim Harbaugh the guy that kinda you raise your eyebrows that he's he's been real kind of quiet. He's been kind of toeing the line. He has led his team do the talking, and he said something I think the big ten meetings in July that was important to you gotta ask directly by someone. What about your record against your rivals? And and top twenty ranked teams you can't win those games. And Jim turned and looked at the guy without getting mad or without getting a little bit testy said that drives us let it go with that. And I think that spoke volumes that he has made that message to the team. And I think the whole team is taking on that attitude. Jim's been really good this year, very intense, very focused and really just kind of playing that game with a chip on their shoulder going. There with something to prove. And I really liked that. And how he's handled this group this year. I want to see him when these games, and I want to see him actually beat Ohio State. And then I want to see him in the playoffs. And then I think he'll be vindicated because I really think he's a super town brilliant guy and a really creative coach. And I think he. You get those big jobs, and you get the big abuse to go, right? Whether you lose a game, you're finished you sock your horrible. But I think he's handled it really well. And I just I'm hoping that he gets some glory in his life and gets to celebrate something one of these days. I'd love to see him wear national championship. Yeah. I think it'd be I think it'd be great. I agree with you. I think he's an outstanding coach, but you know, you know, as well as I been this business, but you got to win games. And you gotta beat those teams that, you know, the Michigan Ohio states in order to get everybody's attention. Like, I told people before the season, you know, Michigan can do a lot all year, but it's really a five they'll be judged on how they play against Notre Dame. Michigan state, Wisconsin Penn State and high state. Don't win other games. But they won't get credit. They'll only get credit if they win those games. And I think that Michigan's in that position because they're so good. That's a good thing. But it's comes down. You got to win those games to shut up the critics. Yeah. I wish they would. I I know it's too late. But I wish they'd played Notre Dame instead of in the opener which they play him now because I think they're both better. Now in books made Notre Dame better. I think Michigan's found themselves, and I think that game would have been better. Now, it's too bad that it was it was too early gem grades and a neutral field too. I think it'd be hell of a game. Yeah. Me too. I wish we could make that happen. Maybe you could make some phone calls anyway jammed great stuff. Enjoy the game. And he's Lansing. Always a pleasure. Having you on a bench? I hope it's a classic. Thank you, very, much pleasure. Talking with you are there is brandy the one and only Jim Brandstatter the voice of the Michigan wolverines eight five five two one two four to do. So. Seven is the number. "Company of Michigan athletics. Shake authors mullets away, but first let's hear from head coach Jim Harbaugh Char's brigade interview is brought to you by trucks, Arianna get a great deal during ram power day. Here's the voice of the wolverines. Jim brandstatter. Welcome back to our pre game show. Jim Brandstatter here with the head coach of the wolverines prior to the Maryland kickoff. And Jim let's talk about last week before we talk about this week. What does it say to coach when your team goes on the road and can come out of a seventeen to nothing whole that to me is pretty impressive. Yeah. That's that's where we looked at it. When we will look at the tape of the game the way our players played. First quarter northwest. And did a lot of great things. It's tremendous coaching staff that they have there and they had a excellent plan and both in all phases. And then. You know our team, and our our coaches did an amazing job to make adjustments are players. With it made the corrections and. And really played a a really impressive three-quarters, especially the second half. On Monday of this week. You talked about shea Patterson, and we've all seen him make the throws he made a couple of really great ones against third western, gentry and Eubanks. But you said I really liked his energy. What did you mean? By that. I thought he was a catalyst in the game. Belly making plays. But you know, getting getting other players involved. Do it. I've seen it every day in practice. I see it in the games. I think it's increasing much like the way the way chase when chase one of its is doing it on defense. I think he's a real catalyst on defense in the same way. I was gonna ask you about chased to is hit the point now chase where he's making others around him better. Just because he's getting so much attention from the other guys from a coaching perspective is that a positive on Chase's part, but other guys are benefiting from his reputation. Well, I think it's what people see I think a lot of people that know football, whether it's opposing coaches opposing players NFL scouts. I mean, they all say the same thing that we've all been saying for quite some time out. Chase plays a really high motor chases. Active each play from snap to whistle. And you know, he he makes place. He's a player that that makes plays. He causes. A lot of havoc from the defensive end position. He runs from sideline to sideline. He's just a highly motivated football players, very talented and it makes plays. Everybody seen it getting feedback from. From so many people here from the opposing coaches you hear from posing Pires you hear from F L scouts and. That's that's that's who chases and. Yeah, he's he's as I said, he's a real catalyst because our players see it too. And they watch it, and they emulate it. See how into it? He is. And and you know, makes us all more into it. Speaking of somebody this into Karan hidden play his best football since he's been at Michigan. Do you think? He really really is. He's he's worked so hard. He's a really good. He's a really good runner, and he always has been and but the other parts of his game pass protection blocking has has really improved catching out of the backfield has improved. You know, his his vision to make make the right run has really improved. It. It's not always the cutback. You just added a lot of things to his game as as as he's gone along here. And and gain the experience that he has so yeah, I think he's without a doubt. He's playing his best football. We'll be back have more with head coach Jim Harbaugh prior to the kickoff of this homecoming, Maryland game, stay with us. This is Michigan football tooth or dare. I dare you to impress me. Okay. Alexa. Tell Toyota to start my Avalon. What is your four digit pin zero seven one eight wedding anniversary well done.

"Ticket out stubhub, the official ticketing partner of Michigan athletics about time to get you back out to Ryan feel for the rest of the first quarter for that. With your back to the guys. Jim Brandstatter, Jon Jansen guys take it away. Thanks, ryan. Appreciate it. Thanks for the update. Michigan receives the kick. They trailed ten nothing. John kind of a little bit of a sleepwalk going out for the wolverines here in the first quarter. Let's let's a very nice way to put it a little bit of asleep. Wok? Yeah. We came out. And I'm still waiting for the Michigan wolverines to show up because this is not the wolverines team that we've seen the last three weeks. And I we've talked about this all week. Jim is the ability to win on the road. This is it nice comfy home setting for for our team. We're down ten nothing. Nothing is going our way who's going to step up and make a play and make something happen. Every town. Maybe that guy standing at the goal line return. This kick from Bob northwestern. This a high pooch kick again comes down to Hawkins at the twenty one. He's twenty five breaks it around the left end. He's out to the thirty thirty one yard line where Michigan will take over first and ten. Chris Bergen makes the stock for northwestern. But wolverines best field position of the day. And I'll take that. Hey, you start to thirty one yard line things. Look a little bit nicer there than they did back at the seventeen or fifteen. You look at the stats through the first quarter. So far, it's not really. Very thrilling. If you're a Michigan fan northwestern with ninety three.

"Before they're gone. It's time for more with coach Jim Harbaugh for the rest of his brigade comments. Let's throw it back to Jim Brandstatter back with head coach Jim Harbaugh. Jim you mentioned coaching our last segment. One of the things I saw last week because you were coaching up Khaliq Hudson got targeting call second time, and you're really good with him in the locker room. How difficult is it to coach young man, who's an aggressive? Great defensive player. But there's that fine line now with the rule about targeting hook, tough is it. There's challenges. No question and the challenge for the defenders. These days is they're going to they're going to make a tackle. They're going to make a hit. And they can't press the pause button. You know, it's it's all happening in in in split seconds. So. But. Uncomplicated as you talking to click Hudson. Okay, you're going you're going to hit the quarterback, and he gets free lot. He's a he's a linebacker and he blitzes and and he's all over the field. So and he's coming at different angles. But and he gets he gets. He gets sacks and tackles for losses. But when you're dealing with the quarterback it's a strike zone. So the head and neck area is out of the strike zone. Ball. Don't don't don't him in the head or neck there near below you know, forcible contact to the knee or below the knee. So the strike zone is above the knee and below the neck, and and the other thing is don't hit that quarterback with your helmet. You'll hit him with the crown of your helmet, especially it's gotta be with the shoulder. And that's that's that's what the coaching lesson was there and a and Kelly gets it in. And I think he's got it now, but you know, directly during after the game, especially when you saw us talking. I mean. It's a motion all year. A you're trying to do. So well, you're trying to do a good job. And when you step on those on those white lines, it gets it's chaos out there, you know, it really is. I mean, people are hitting each other and your head's on a swivel and the game is going so fast with the with the how good the athletes are these days and and. Offenses that it's not like back in our day where they they block seven guys. Sometimes the only black five get five eligible is out into the pattern. So deep defenders are getting there. But yeah. After after thanks to settle down a chance to. Talk to click and coach him up. I think he's going to be better. I think he gets it. He's such a phenomenal player. You wanna you wanna play with? To the rules, as you know, they've they've changed over the last couple of years and mostly for the better, man. I know. No it. You know, some of the rules makers. May not have played or you know. I haven't really got this completely down. But guys are adapted. Guys players will adapt. They wanna do they wanna do the right thing. And they want to do within the rules. Do the right thing against the Wildcats. Okay. Yes, sir. We gotta we gotta we gotta we gotta be. Game. We gotta play pay up to our capabilities and play really well for sixty minutes. It's going to take that and excited for the competition. Looking forward to it. Thanks, jim. Good luck. Thanks, jim. Jim Harbaugh prior to the kickoff Michigan against northwestern from here. And I would since stay with us. This is Michigan football. The pre-game.

He went too far out and Rashawn Gary had a clear run at him. And again a stellar effort by the Michigan de here's the kick. Not a very good one. Not a good one. But it gets a great bounce. Yeah. "A on talkative privy to your wife a plus a plus make sure she does so we are watching the the nfl poobah are going to be getting together here in orlando in the next couple of days they're going to start off this weekend and they're going to have some big meetings on monday and it's one of the things they're going to be looking at is the incredibly complicated and impossible to explain rule because it doesn't make any sense in the first place about when is a catch not a catch and exactly what the definition of completion is and obviously the lions have been stung by this on a on a couple of occasions where the definition of completion has been exhausted and they always come out on the wrong side of it so to discuss these rules changes we are joined by our favorite analysts and all of the nfl our good friend jim brandstatter granny guy gordon ken brown it's good to be brandon so never never mind the fact that any rule change needs the needs the twenty four out of thirty two franchises to agree to it so i don't know how likely this will be but just from your spot in the booth and you watched more football games than most of us have do you still do you have any understanding of what this rule really means i swear it's they have tried to you know you know it reminds me of ken you'd love this guy you'd understand it it's like when you try to analyze humor what makes something funny.
