"Some Moonshots in Denver. I thought that that would have been a good enough return because he's under contract and he's an actual human being, and not a theoretical person, which a compensatory draft pick is But we didn't know what the that was what the Rockies were asking for. We don't know what they were actually offered. Well now. We do know if you believe Jim Baden. Of the athletic and MLB network radio. Or I just think it's MLB radio. Who wrote That multiple teams actual, not multiple, Several Several sounds like more than multiple because multiple can be to write several can't be too Several has got to be So a couple is too Few is three, several at least four Several teams were willing to part with a top five prospect in their system. Four Trevor Story. So a compensatory pick. Is not the best at the Rockies could do. Top five prospect in another team system is the best that the Rockies could do, and Bill Schmidt said No You know why Bill Schmidt said No. I mean, it's not going to make you comprehended any better, but I could give you the reason It goes back to what I was saying in the wake of Trevor. Story knocking traded the Rockies think That they are doing things the right way. They believe in what they are doing. They believe. In the way they operate. Which is complete and utter lunacy. But they believe it. So, Bill Schmidt says. I'd rather have a theoretical player. Than an actual player who has proven to be one of the best prospects in any given system. I have my pick of several of them, and I still say no, because I would rather Take the compensatory pick and draft a guy. That ladies and gentlemen is called humorous. And it is not ideal. Unbelievable. I mean, it was unconscionable decision. When I thought that they were getting Nothing special. The top five prospect is not nothing And several teams give you a higher probability that one of the teams enquiring actually has a good farm system. Because what I have heard and what I've gleaned and I don't pretend to be An expert on minor league systems when the Brewers were affiliated with the vibes, and it was still triple A I did quite a bit of research on the Brewers system. But I've lost touch with it. I know a few names. I read things. I read a lot of Tyler Monde's work who was a friend of the program very good at what he does. There are several teams, maybe even more than several teams in Major league Baseball who actually know How to bring up prospects. And even if you say you know what the Rockies over the course of time have been one of the better ones. Even if you can see that. Actual player ranked highly or theoretical player. Which is better. This is not a difficult decision, but logic tens to elude the folks at 20th and Blake. Before we break for the top of the hour. Want to let you know someone when it comes to real estate. I am not an expert, but I do know an expert And can talk to an expert. And she is Barb Schlenker of your home sold Guaranteed Realty. Why would she choose such a name? You ask. Because it's actually her guarantee. Her name and Guarantee..

"Be live reaction, But Jim Baden's tweeting Craig Kimbrel, the White Sox we were seeing that just a little bit ago. So it sounds like Craig Kimbrel to the White House, which is interesting. The White Sox, of course, went out and suddenly, um Hendricks, who was an all star this year, we'll see him in the All Star Game. By the way, one of the best moments in all star history. Dude is miked up. Thinks he knows he's miked up. Thinks he's actually not miked up because he thinks the guys can't hear him. Well, I can't hear them, mate, so I'll guess I'm just not connected. Is that really what went down? You thought Liam Hendriks just didn't care. Oh, no. What happened was so Liam Hendriks. They were making up these guys and they were having conversations with them right? Like they're talking to guys while they're taking at bats and People were thinking it was stupid. Why is Joe Buck asking questions to these guys? And I'm like that's kind of fun, Man. It's the All Star game. Whatever cares, Let's talk about it. It's also kind of funny when guys are telling them what they think is coming at the plate and something else comes. You know, it's like it's whatever. Who cares. The game means nothing. We're not playing for home field advantage in the World Series. Thank God all that was stupid, but anyway, they they have this move where they were going to make up Liam Hendriks on the mound for the final inning of the game. He was going to have a conversation while he's trying to close the door, which, by the way, I thought, that's kind of funny, That's kind of cool. Whatever. The All Star game. Let him do it. What is a closer thinking while he's out there trying to get the final three outs of the ballgame. So Hendricks is out there. He's got the ear but in but you can't hear what he's saying. Well, you can hear what he's saying. They can't them in the booth cannot hear Hendrix. So they keep telling him. Hey, Liam, can you hear us can hear us? I guess Liam can't hear us. Then At one point, he needs to change signs with the catcher. I forget who it might have been Zannino where somebody comes out to talk to him, and he runs out and he goes. Yeah. Mike as a Nino comes and goes. Miked up. I'm miked up, but they can't hear me. They don't know what I'm saying. Is.

"Destinations across the country. Everything you're missing just an Amtrak away. Now back to Kruger and Willard, who have put aside their differences, though I think one of them still might go the other some money anyway. They've taken over on KNBR here coming down the homestretch TK Be out of Wednesday marks sitting in for Tommy and for Rod who are getting a little vacation time and we're getting closer. Two Giants Dodgers game too, But before we get there, we have a lot more baseball trade deadline stuff to discuss how Mark we get stuff breaking right now. Yeah, there definitely is. So we're still waiting to find out who the Yankees gave up. But if you're just kind of popping in Joey Gallo goes to the New York Yankees. So their outfield Stanton Judge Gallo, You know that's got a little shine to it, so that's interesting. But John Maroc just tweeted 15 minutes ago following the news of Gallo to the Yankees, the San Francisco Giants are well positioned to add a bat, and sources say they remain engaged on the Trevor Story and Kris Bryant trade possibilities. Today's events helped the Giants leverage. Since the Yankees known to have interest in story are now working to finalize the Gallo deal Now Susan came on earlier. I had said the same thing you to the Trevor story thing. I don't believe I believe the Trevor story story. If you will. The story story. I believe that is to create leverage in conversation with the Cubs. I know that there are other teams that do say they could move story to second base. So maybe the Giants are interested, but it does not make any sense whatsoever. Brandon Crawford has already announced his returning tomorrow stories hitting 1 80 away from Coors Field. Don't get that one at all. Bryant makes all the sense in the world and at this in a story on the athletic from Jim Baden, which is laying out everything trade deadline related, and he finishes the article. With a fun series of predictions. So this came out a couple hours ago. Okay? Right. Last prediction. He is very, very tight. Very tight in his final prediction was Rangers will send Joey Gallo to the Yankees. That was 23 hours ago. Now he mentions two players in return. David Garcia, Esteban Floreal. I don't know if those are the two players who actually are not will see. Few lines prior to that. Cubs trade Kris Bryant to the Giants. The return Elliot Ramos. Hmm. How do you feel about that? I don't like it. I don't like it. But Elliott Ramos is is, um, you know, Still, you know he's been in the minors for a while, He still is not. He's not breaking he I mean, for a guy who was on the doorstep to breaking through. It seemed like last year. They've also they've been awfully conservative with him this year, and his numbers in the minor leagues are not overwhelming. But I really liked what I saw from him. Man that would be that would be a problem. That would be a steep price to pay on a rental, wouldn't it? But see it makes it makes me think here. This would be my read on the story thing is that The Giants prospects that people want And I think are either Bart or Ramos. Um, I think the idea of the Giants trading lower level guys. It probably isn't going to get it done. It's probably going to take guys that are closer to the big leagues. But from the Giants perspective is Bart or Ramos twerp with Rental on story or Kris Bryant? No, the Giants will be giving too much. But why would you say they would be interested in story? Well, maybe the Giants wanted to grow the deal but couldn't get the Cubs. To add Kimbrel or let's just say a Hendrix or, uh or a starter and so that they don't you know, they can't come to come to agreement on the back end of the deal where maybe Colorado says Yeah, we'll give you Trevor story. Oh, yes. We want Ramos. We want Bart. Um, well, we realized that Bart for a rental of stories is an over pay on your part. So we have John Gray. We have Josh Bard and I would be. I think both those guys would be attractive. So well, maybe you trade one prospect, But you, you know, maybe one premier guy like a Bart or Ramos, but you wind up getting story gray and barred, or you wind up getting Bryant Kimbrel and a starter. You know, I if it's just Elliot Ramos for a rental on story or a rental on Bryant straight up. I think that's kind of an overpaid. It sounds expensive, and it would not fit the way rentals have been going in recent years, and it would not fit at all. What Farhan Zaidi. Does you notice that it's the national people who keep saying Barton Ramos, the local Giants, reporters are all like those people are not even on the table. So I would be surprised if Bart or Ramos goes, however, the nature of giants Dodgers Padres right now does make the price go up on these people. No question cause of the right because these three teams are also close and all going for the same people. We are just getting word of who is going To Texas and the deal. Apparently it is a six player for two players swap. Um and the ranges are getting a massive haul of prospects. I wouldn't expect anybody to know who one of these people are. But Yankee prospects Glenn Auto, Ezekiel Duran, Josh Smith and Trevor, however. As part of the package. Gallo by the way, not a free agent at the end of the year. So this is not a rental. Gallo is under contract next year as well. Oh yes, yes. And so That's why This is pulling in such a massive haul. Well, that's interesting. I didn't realize he was. I thought Cots contract said he was under contract this year, but not next year. Well, but the thing is, you know the guy. The two names that, um that Bowden throughout their Davey Garcia. I'm not saying he's Pedro, but he's built like Pedro. He's got you know, we saw in mid nineties. He's really, really nasty. So I mean, Davey Garcia or Floreal would be highly rated guys. But you're saying they did it with numbers. They didn't necessarily do it with the premier guys. Yes, yeah, At least that's what we know. There are two more names apparently coming and another player. Going to the Yankees. At least we think right now, so I'm fascinated by this not only because of the leverage it creates elsewhere, but because it starts to set the market. You know, like, I think a lot of starting pitchers have not moved because they're waiting for sure is there to go? And you start to get an idea of like, what costs what for a rental for someone who's under control for another year for two more years, that kind of thing, And so it's all a staircase, and it's sounding like we're heading for really active next. What do we got here? 44 hours or so well, and it sounds like the prices are high. I mean, if the A's are trading Lazard. Oh, for Starling Marte rental. Um, yeah, High Price. Yeah, but 1000 said, way to go, Qiming. I mean, that's a that's thievery. Totally. But again, it's the A's. And so I never know how to. I don't know how to translate what they're doing, because there's always other stuff involved. Most of the teams That are contenders are going out there and going, Let's simply make our team better for the run. The A's are thinking about four or five different things all the time. What does he make? What does this mean for our finances for next year? What did this that like? It's always There's always a bunch of other stuff for all I know, they just don't wanna, you know they don't want to deal with with Lazaro's future. I mean, they're basically offloaded him, and now they pay for a few months of March, and then they don't have to pay him either. You know when when we were going back and forth about Aaron Judge in that fan sided rumor, you know, I I threw out a bunch of negatives on the giant prospects at the time because prospects are prospects right And.

"Cannot get into these Olympics. I know I'm supposed to write is that is that one of the obligations as either A sports show. Post or someone listening to this music or someone who just loves his country can't do it Triumph. What's that Russian guys named Daniel Medvedev is that his name? Medvedev, the tennis player. I mean, actually shouldn't make light of it because apparently one of the women competing got rolled off the Coordinate wheelchair because you got heat stroke. Hey! People that run the Olympics. You greedy hypocrites. If the players ask you to play at night because it's 140 degrees thing is actually 99 with the Heat index. As someone from Iowa. That's sort of a balmy day. Oh, it's only it's only 89 feels like 99. Let's get out there and play some tennis but still Maybe you should, um Maybe you should listen. And USA Basketball is a prime example. Losing to France, which we talked about. Kind of, I guess kind of a big deal. I love hoops. I cover the NBA for CBS sports. You would think that I would be Interested and the wonderful people who runs CBS Sports HQ. Wanted us to do a live TV hit last night at three o'clock in the morning, eastern time after US Iraq Made myself watch that game. I bet James Kelly didn't watch that game. He's here today. I bet Garrett written. Watch that game. Do you know wine? There it is. Do you know who's on the on the board today? Garrett, drop as many as you want, buddy. Get in there. There you go. Because those guys understand that things that subtract from the sum of all human joy are probably not worth their time. That was one of the most brutal things I've ever watched in my entire life. Can't pretend like I'm no expert on geopolitics, but I'm not exactly the world's biggest Iran fan. I don't walk around rooting for Iran, generally speaking, and I felt so bad for that team. And was such an ugly game. Actually one of those guys to hit some shots. And if you want to get into the nuts and bolts of team USA, whether they're going to win gold Still, the betting favorites were 40.5 Point favorites last night against Iran. I almost bet it I mean James is the actual gambling expert here. I almost met the over. It seemed like a lock and I just I could not bring I'm going to go minus 40.5 USA one by 54 56. It wasn't even cool. It was just It was free money that I couldn't for. I went to I went to bed, and I guess it's been what 29 Minus 40.5, and they dominated and here's what we saw if you want some actual take away from the game. USA is the favorite. They're going to come out of their group even if there number two because they lost to France doesn't matter. Will be on the other side of the bracket than France, which is good news and they shot 50%. From the field. On three point shots. They shot 55%. In general made a 50 40 90 game as a team. They made 95% of their free throws. I and my colleagues at CBS boards. Dot com pushed the idea yesterday and I don't know who wrote it. So whoever I'm criticizing, I apologize, guys. It's all it's all in the game. Can we get over the notion that the basketball the different field the basketball is the reason? We lost to France. The reason we lost to France is because international basketball is markedly improved from where it used to be. And we did not take that game seriously. And you saw it yesterday. Damian Lillard and every other guy hit bucket after bucket after bucket after bucket. You don't have a 50 40 90 game even if you're playing Iran, and even if Iran is not exactly the world's most talented basketball squad If the ball is actually the problem. So I've watched Little bit of table tennis because table tennis is riveting. I've watched a little bit of USA basketball. And it feels strange now, doesn't it? Who's running to visit on Peacock? It's where I watched it. Who's running to peacock. To watch. The women's gymnastics all around without Simone Biles. I'm not It's really hard to get into these Olympics. It's hard to feel Connected in any kind of way. I'm not a water polo guy. I don't care about half the sports. I wouldn't even know what I'm watching and surfing, but normally I feel a draw to the Olympics. Just the idea of We're in this together is a shared experience. Go America. Let's do this. Here's my theory. Here's what I think is going on. I think the last year Last year and change made so many of us stuck in our homes. Watching so much TV. We didn't care about looking for things to do. I'm just over wasting my time. Now that I can somewhat go out in the world and do the things that I want to do. Here. The sports that I'm interested in I'm interested in the NBA finals when they were going on. Remarkably interested in this NFL season. I'm interested in three baseball teams, and two of them are terrible. Mentioned the Dodgers because I used to do some Dodgers radio the Cubs because I'm a Cubs fan and the Royals because I live there and cover that team right about that team when I was younger. Give me some UFC. Give me some tennis. Give me some golf, maybe in a major on a Saturday and a Sunday. I don't have the time or the energy. For gymnastics, Bad basketball. I could have time for table tennis, Olympic tennis. I even liked us and I don't care, water polo. You were waiting on that one. You. Would you part of that You can put that baby up at the moment. Writer Raul he'll mention Dennis. Freaking nerd tennis flare. We'll get we'll get it Ready. Alright, Bill. "Are, um, one of Jim's Excuse me. Bills guests today we're building it for Kim Rome is Jim Baden. Former general manager, both the Cincinnati Reds and the, uh Washington nationals who now hosts shows for Sirius. XM's MLB Network Radio does play by play for a couple of different outlets. Stupid. Um, I know Gaby. Jim Bowden. Pretty damn well because I actually hosted to kill with him for It was less than two years. It was, I think more than a year and a half, but somewhere in that range on Sirius XM time I'll be network radio, So I know JB quite well. He's great, and you'll have inside information. So you want to stay tuned right here on CBS Sports Radio for the gym Room show, which Bill writer will be doing this afternoon and I enjoyed working with him, Baden and Believe me, When I tell you, he's tied it. He would amaze me because something would happen in baseball. We never killed planned out. We have a guest starred. You booked for four hours get together and then a story would break. And Baden would just go to his phone. And he would text the general manager that made a deal or was potentially making a deal and he'd come back on the air during the next break and go. Yeah, we've got Ah, Brian Cashman coming up and Already minutes. Yeah, we've got, um whatever other Dave Dombrowski will join us in a half an hour from now. He was amazing. He could get these guys to return his texts and agree to come on the air, like within an hour of making a major transaction. So when I tell you that Baden as well tight in Believe me, That's the case, and he might have some good insights and maybe even break some news and information for you when he joins Jim Jim roam show with Bill writer Coming up a little bit later in the afternoon. So stay tuned all day. Yes, I will be by my phone. I don't have this supercharger that John Haman has. We just had John Harmon on If you missed them earlier, you can get it on the odyssey dot com app the rewind feature. You go back and get the guests that we have. If you miss them, they're up there for 24 hours in. Despite we did with Heyman today was pretty damn good. Gave us some insight. He thinks the Giants are going to make a move before the trade deadline. They've been the best team in baseball all year. Much to my surprise. You got it when you get things right? You take credit for it right When you get things wrong, you've got to, uh, take credit for that as well. Not credit, but critique of that as well. I didn't think the Giants were going to be in above 500 team. Good luck to anyone trying to fight anybody who thought they were too big West Demon Baseball 100 games in, But I thought there was no way they were a playoff team They have been and you can't use the fluke word anymore that eventually there's gotta stuff When you put in 100 out of 162 game season. Fluke is out the window when you have the best record in the sport with the Giants still and Yeah, John Haman said he thinks all three teams out in the West. San Diego has already made a big trade getting an impression for the Pirates. The guy who leads major League baseball in hits this year, they have an abundance of players with Positional flexibility that they can play all over the diamond. Be real interesting to see how, uh, Jake tingling. My manager handles them down the stretch, but there in third place right now, even though they have been the most aggressive team last calendar year from last year's trade deadline. Uh, through to this year's trade deadline. They've been more aggressive than any other team in baseball to make the play to win the championship. They're here, as John noted for us. They now have a payroll, which surpasses the New York Yankees. The Yankees who have more revenue streams than anyone else in baseball, don't have the payroll that to San Diego Padres do the small market. San Diego Padres. So give their general manager in their owner ownership group credit for absolutely going for it. If the Padres are going to do that, you know the Dodgers are they still have the number one payroll in all of baseball in if they need to spend more money, take on salaries to try and defend their Major League baseball championship. They'll do just that. And Haman said, Don't count the Giants out that he thinks they've got a big play left. And, um, I did see a story last night that tied them to possibly being able to get Kris Bryant from the Cubs. They've got one of the better prospects in baseball. Joey Barton, who was the second overall pick in the draft. Just a couple of years ago, having a real night here at Triple A. For the Giants. It's got an over 900 0 P s. Buster Posey has had a major comeback year. This year. They probably thought Bart would be taking over from Fozie, maybe as early as this year, not necessary. Maybe makes them a little bit more expendable. Uh, if they get their hands on Kris Bryant, that would be a major addition for them. And yes, I think all three teams in the N L West are going to make the playoffs. I know a lot can happen. We've still got a lot of season left to play, but they built up some latitude in space between themselves and the other teams. In baseball for about the divisional championship and both wild card spots. How amazing is that going to be if San Francisco holds on Here is my take right, wrong and indifferent started the season. I thought that Dodgers were absolutely going to win 100 games and they can and at the Padres, we're gonna win. Well, over 90, maybe somewhere in the vicinity of 95. Only one of them come in the division. I said the other one will get that home wild card game, But they're going to have to play a win and you're in or lose and go home type matchup, and I thought they were the two best teams in the entire National League coming into the season. They're not the two best teams in their division. The Giants are the number one team and how about a superior season and more power to them? Yeah, that's gonna be if the Padres and the Dodgers are playing in that wild card matchup. To start to post season That would be a well watched game I'll give, but I'm gonna be credit, but I don't know who that is that one every T ESPN or TBS, or who has that game, But that will be a major showdown game and how they pit against each other these next couple of days..

"As I love loving mighty, maybe sometimes more. I got no respect for cards. Another mate, I take real pleasure in their stuff. It's writer than you with Bill writer. Although to be fair, the Cardinals don't suffer very, very often. Having an off year overshadowed by the Cubs, having lost 11 in a row yesterday when I was filling in on on Rome Talk to Jim Baden, the former GM longtime GM at a couple stops. And my colleague at CBS Sports HQ. And former major leaguer Tony Gwynn Jr. And I asked him both about this sticky controversy. Specifically whether or not Garrett Colon Aroldis Chapman, two guys whose performances have dipped Whether it was too soon to attribute their struggles. The clampdown by Major League Baseball on the more severe the more sticky substances that had become Somewhat commonplace for pictures to to improve and increase. They're RPMs on their on their pitches rotations per minute. And whether perhaps we could label I mean, basically, what I was asking is Comey label Gary Cohn and Aroldis Chapman Cheaters. Can we put in the category of of those who Had taken his advantage too far, and they said it's too soon to know. Okay, I respect that. But Axios sports has something really interesting. Today some some numbers I'm just going to give it to you as we continue to evaluate. And I think for me, really Bird dog, Garrett Coal in particular. On June 3rd. The day of coals. 12 start of the season. Word got out as actuals rights. People were in the No. All right, we're going to have to enforce. MLB is going to clamp down on these substances and he's just been a he has been two totally different guys, too. Starkly different pictures. Before and after that date. His e. R. A in his whip through those 1st 11 starts when MLB wasn't going out there and checking guys for any kind of substance. Was a 1.78 earned run average and a 0.83 whip, which is really, really good. In his six starts since you're talking 11 stars before in six starts after Pretty good sample size. Is he are a went from 1.78 pre sticky enforcement to 5.24 after Then enforcement began and his whip in those 1st 11 games, 110.83. The six that have followed 1.22. He's striking out 20%. Fewer batters per nine innings. He's walking more than twice as many And his war is wins above replacement. Has gone down. And he's allowed as many home runs in his last three starts. As he did those 1st 11. Okay. Maybe it's psychological. Maybe Maybe it's not about the RPMs that he had an advantage that gave an advantage. He's just a creature happened. He's not used to the rosin and the sun tan lotion. Maybe. But ma'am in the sport that has a history in our lifetimes of massive cheating and that cheating in in terms of the statistical variation that happens when The ability to cheat goes away is on record. "July 4th weekend. Hope you had a great few days off a lot of things going on in Major League baseball and No. One. I would rather talk to then Jim Baden, longtime GM former GM, CBS Sports HQ colleague at the athletic Sirius XM. I mean literally. It's like 91 job because he's that good and that in demand And graciously making some time for us right now, Jim, What's up, man? Happy, belated fourth. Yeah. Happy, belated fourth you as well. Bill pretty pumped up for this week. I can't wait to be covering for CBS Sports HQ. The futures gained the All Star Game, the draft the home run Derby. This is always Fun week. That's coming up for baseball as we get a little bit of break from the first half of the season, a lot of things going on and Jim as we approach that that that pause in the season Don't even know how to properly say all the things I should say about showing Otani 31. I will give you all the statue. You know all the stats. The guys just He's such He's such a force Is there. Is there any hyperbole to talking about this guy is one of the most interesting baseball players of my lifetime, because that's that's where I'm at. Yeah, and let's be realistic. He's the most talented overall player you've ever seen, and the most talent player I've ever seen. You know, we've heard the stories of Babe Ruth and how great he was, but let's be realistic. Babe Ruth didn't throw his heart to show him. Otani does right, Um and and he didn't have to face the pitching the show hero Tommy is I mean, this is the greatest two way baseball player that we've ever seen in the history of Major League baseball. And who knows how many years it's going to be before we see another player? That can not only be an M V P player, but he can be in in a store pitching staff, so he's got the full package and he's got the personality, you know, and he's got the charisma. He's just been in so well over here in the states, and I'm just thrilled He's going to be leading the way in the home run Derby, trying to take down the defending champion Peter Alonso, come Monday. Jim Bowden, a guy that and this is where he's at now leads the league in home runs, slugging percentage triples. Bunt hits the first player in the history of American League to have 31 homers and 12 stolen bases at the All Star Break. A guy who, as you said, is also a ridiculous picture that duality Is there any scenario where at this level of play where he's pitching, hitting that he's that anyone can compete with? This guy is the most valuable player. Don't think so. I mean, look, it would be great, you know, mentioned Vladimir Guerrero Jr in the year that he's had in Toronto, but you know, normally, you don't get to the All Star game and say We have the slam dunk and BP winner right? But we've got that in Shohei Otani. He's going to be the M V p of the American League period because he's doing just historic things that no one has ever done before. In the history of the sport and And he's doing it in the kind of way that Tiger Woods did to golf. Like it's like, Wow. Um, let's all stop and Shohei Otani is, you know you got to get your popcorn, your salt, your butter ready? You got to be prepared. You can't miss in the bat and you can't miss in a pitch when he's on the bump. Um, He's got the whole package. So Yeah, it's really fun, and it's been great for the sport because we've got so many great young players like Fernando to these junior and Glady Guerrero and Rombach KUNA. Otani brings up to the table. None of them camp because he is a two way player in this sport hasn't hasn't seen anything since Babe Ruth that comes even close to having this discussion. Jim Bowden here on the Jim Roam show Bill Ryder. Filling in for for for Jim. Alright. So from the good stuff for the less the less delightful stuff MLB ham fisted otherwise has clamped down on whatever sticky substances went beyond rosin or some of the things that are that are acceptable over the history of the game, Jim and you've got over that same timeline. Gerrit Cole, not pitching well release Chapman. Not pitching well, to what degree do you think it is fair to correlate those two facts? Think it's too early to go down that path. You know, Pictures do have slumps, and I don't think we can ignore it, You know, But could it be somewhat of a coincidence it can. I mean, I think when this will went into place, it's not affecting the players that were using Sun tan lotion in rosin. As much as it's affecting the people that use more than that, which was the whole purpose of why they decided to do this in season. Um, I don't think Garrick I think the way Garrett Cola's answered questions. I don't think there's any question that Um, you know, he he used, uh, you know, more than the sun tan lotion, And so is there an adjustment period form? Yeah, probably do. I think he's still going to be a dominant picture here in the second half. Yeah, I do. Mike, the numbers come back a little bit. Yeah, but I'm not going to be over judgmental until you know we've seen 10 starts. I think we've got a better idea after 10 starts in a few starts, because a lot of times all pictures go into slumps and especially guys that had dominated the first few months of the year. Jim, There are two things I've waited for. Over the course of this MLB season. The first was for my Cubs, the Cubs to lose 10 in a row, which they've done. So thank you Copies for for for getting me back to reality, and the other was for the Yankees through the opposite, if not to win 10 or 12 in a row..

"Fully aware that every utterance photo social media post thing that, he says. Is going to be filtered and rightly so, through the uncertainty of whether he's going to return to the Green Bay Packers, and it's hard for me and I know I'm not supposed to not take people seriously when they say mental health and for good reason. Look the Naomi Osaka Reality that she pulled out of the French Open after refusing to required required media appearances and then didn't go to Wimbledon is a really interesting and difficult conversation, and it requires nuance, and I certainly air on the side and it may be an air of believing the journalist in me. That people should make good on their media responsibilities. That's contractually part of the deal. I also understand where she's coming from, and she has backed up her claim that this is a real concern for her. Not showing up and playing these tournaments, which you would imagine to a tennis player with the upside and the legacy that one could build that she can build that. That would be important. It's also worth pointing out because context is everything. That Osaka talked about. The mental health difficulties of press conferences for her media appearances, but did a media appearance After one of the matches at the French Open with a television with the broadcaster. She had a financial relationship with this stuff is complicated in the counter to my sort of doubt there as well. She can control it because it's a financial relationship, so there's not a lot of stress when she is when she has some agency over. I get it. But she actually disappeared. Right? She She's been quiet. She's shy. That's a real thing. She really didn't want the spotlight and whether you think she's right or wrong and her reasoning. She has made good on that reasoning by not being front and center because she makes her uncomfortable. Rogers has been everywhere. I mean, Rogers has been the most vocal narrative. In the NFL in the off season, largely through his own. Utterances posts. Whatever is going on behind the scenes, and so the idea that That mental health is the reason that he's having these issues and it's also I'm not even doing that. I'm not even I don't think I don't think it's a stretch me to link this to his issues. The Packers because he starts off talking nebulous Lee about the loudest person in the room isn't always the wisest. I mean, did you picture Brian? Guten counts because I did. If that was the goal, it was very effective and even know Guten cause But now I'm like, Oh, it must be loud, but he's not smart. He's not too smart. He's alone. That is clearly the intention. Or the guy that says the most doesn't always have the most to say. Yeah, maybe, maybe, like Aaron Rodgers in the off season. I mean, physician heal by itself, so I don't want to disrespect or disparage the guy. Talk about mental health. But it feels like I'm just telling it feels like I'm being played. It does. That's what I feel like It doesn't mean I'm right. I could be wrong. Maybe I'm being unfair. Your and Roger's. It feels like he's the guy that doesn't just think he's the smartest guy in the room. He thinks he might be The smartest guy in the face of the Earth maybe puts Ellen first, right, like that guy is gonna get enough to Mars in the whole test. Nothing, but after that, it's me. And I just feel like I'm getting played. And I can see where and maybe I'm being unfair. Maybe I'm misreading it. Can see where there's an unlike ability factor that's so real. This is hard where it's overcome the limits of just us seeing it clearly if we're not Packers fans, so now people in Green Bay or over this thing And every morning look, I pretended team he's also was what's the word? I'm looking for normal for a really long time because of a Cubs fan. We had these blind spots. I think we're getting to a point where Aaron Rodgers is making a huge tax glare unless the guy is really just gonna retire and say to hell with football. It's certainly in the realm of possibilities. Alright, We haven't talked like any baseball so far on the show and show Otani deserves some time and attention. So we're going to busy with Jim Baden, My colleague at CBS Sports HQ, Longtime former GM We're gonna hit a bunch of stuff with Jim. Here on the Jim Roam show just after.

"I'd like to see the battle of the retired news women locally, Kit Andrews. Against Carol Williams. What about Carol Williams? V. Normal, Rashid? It's either we can be sure I get around Robinson Cam e involved. Uh, yeah. Got to be retired, though they got to be retired. That is true. Yeah, that could be a rainy Ross involved Betsy Ross. My money is heavy on bets. Yeah, come on now, And do they do it for charity? That's is that I was just thinking about any of these matches would raise a ton of money. For charity. Let's talk to Kenan Mason about it, Ken, What do you have? Well, first of all normal can't wear her shoulder pads in that fight. Just so you know, nice. Well played. She was famous for that. As Jerry Springer. I would say, um, my fight would be Marty Brennaman. Against either two people. He seems to just like the most of his commentaries, either Jim Baden or Tony LaRussa ph. Jim Bone, You can't stand those guys. That's fun. Keep me up for it. I think he would. I don't think he'd back down Get to Tony LaRussa. He's a feisty old bird to Oh, Marty, and he's right. You still got so he's got that piss and vinegar and he's ready to rock and roll. Jeremy and Milford. Who do you want to see Fight? Man? I want to be a playoff. I want to see Chuck Schumer versus Jerry Nadler. And I want to see the winner of that takes on Gavin Newsom versus that shit. Oh, Adam Schiff. Yeah. Alright. There we go. Right? A lot of money there. You got. Hey, man, we're gonna we gotta We gotta be promoters. We have to promote this. We're giving away a million dollar ideas here. Give me one at a huge check to see me fight. Who would I like to see you. Right? See, I gotta Let me think about it for a minute because I have to see somebody. Do I have to think of someone Who would be a That you're not who's not going to destroy you, or you're not going to destroy them. I want to see you won't see. These two guys are swelling. What does all Clint Eastwood movies stripped to the waist in jeans? Come on, put them up chip standing at the background. I mean the whole nine yards. George, what's going on in Columbus? I'll tell you what. There's a lot that you guys are having a great show. My perfect my perfect match up. Is Gilbert Gnarly versus Willie. Given Harley G n I l Eva and I'm taking Gilbert all the way. I love it. That's uh That would be a good match. What about you vs wild man? Can we bring that back for charity? I think the American public would like to see that. You in the wild man. That would be much of a fight. You think you're taking our Helly now? Wild man. If you're listening, those are fighting words. He is beyond confident right now. So if you want to step in the ring and do some good for some money, not too confident that I can beat a lot of people up. But I'm pretty sure I can handle while man sounds like I dare to me. 749 7800 the big £1.700.
