"You probably know our voices by now, but in case you don't, I'm Jill, and I'm carlene, and Jill, I know we have a lot to get to in today's episode, but I need to pause and just say a huge thank you to our beauty pod fam. We're accepting our review challenge. So in case you missed it, we made a call out for our lovely listeners because we were curious if there were any chills and carlene out there. I had my doubts we would find any carlene, but indeed carlene with an eye responded, as well as the Cynthia out there, which is my middle name. So hello and thank you for stopping to drop us a line. I loved it. I couldn't stop smiling when I was reading them. One person titled their review, Jill's and carlene oh my, and she went on to say my best friend's name is Jillian Marie, does that count? And it absolutely does, because I'm Jill Marie. And another person said PS, my name is Jill Cynthia. So I had to leave a review after that last episode. So that's like a mash up of my first name in your middle name, carlene. So lots of new friends out there. Well at the risk of beating a dead horse, I would like to keep it going. I'm going to say if there are any Higgins out there or done being our last names. It's your turn, drop us a line at leave us a review in Apple podcasts. Don't forget to follow us. Or anybody, anybody out there can drop us a line, but especially the Higgins and the dens. Oh, you know, we don't discriminate. We'll take all the reviews. Thank you so much. And I just want to acknowledge that we probably have some new friends joining us that hurt us over on our pod swap last week. We were on add to cart with Suu kyin and kulap. Congratulations to cool out. I know she's expecting, which is so exciting. Her and her husband and we didn't know that at the time that we spoke to them, but I'm just so happy. She's wonderful. And if you are joining us after that chat as a refresher, we're chilling carlene to former magazine beauty editors turn podcasters. Yeah, we're here every single Wednesday sharing what's good in the world of beauty, from new product drops. We always do reviews once a month, they're called the damn goods. We also tell the little known stories behind bestselling or iconic products and beauty oftentimes straight from the founders themselves, like Tracee Ellis Ross, just gonna name drop name drop, who was on our show a couple of weeks ago, still riding a high from that one, a high note. If you will. Oh yeah. But mom, a little bad joke there. But honestly, carlina, I think the type of interview that we're doing today, overall, these are my favorite types of interviews because we kind of get to nerd out, and I always learn so much. We're so fortunate to sit down with the best in the biz in terms of hair and makeup and skin pros on a regular basis. I mean, stealing time with these people is really a challenge because they have a mile long roster of clients that are keeping them busy 24/7. So the fact that these people carve out 60 minutes to talk to us, I'm always grateful. Yeah, absolutely. So on that note, today's guest is Candace merino better known as the LA facialist. We caught up with her on her home turf when we were in LA. Candace has been a medical esthetician for over a decade. She's developed these special techniques. She uses honor highly discerning celebrity clientele, Dove Cameron, Courtney Kardashian, Miranda Kerr, tons of influencers. They all go to Candace. To look snatched and glowy and she also does education for fellow estheticians. Joel, you like turned me on to her. So how did you discover her? Candace has a spa in Beverly Hills, carleen, and she's actually expanding her location in 2023. So more on that soon. But I first discovered her on Instagram via her hashtag radian AF, and I thought, oh, that's good. Like, I want to be radiant AF, especially going into the winter. So in that spirit, our topic today is hashtag radiant AF skin, the top ten ways to guarantee your glow with the LA facialist. Yeah, glowing from the neck up. Heck, yes. So we cover a lot of ground Candace shares her best tips for facial massage, what products and tools she uses to get the best results, plus she shares the one neck cream she uses. She swears it makes her clients next look ageless and I we saw it that neck creams were scammed so I was like highly tuned in when she was talking about that product. She also talks about an exfoliation product that she's used for like a decade. She swears it's like a red carpet facial in a jar. And finally, this was juicy, Jill and Candace kind of face off over a beloved vitamin C serum that Joel talks about all the time that frankly Candace thinks as fast as prime. I hope I didn't spoil the surprise, but honestly, you guys need to hear this a little bit of drama. Yeah, and you know what? I'd like to know whose team vitamin C that I talked about. And whose team Jill and whose team Candice, I won't be offended if your team Candace. Maybe that would be fun if you weigh in with a review on Apple podcasts, tell us if you agree with Candace, or if you agree with me. So this will be fun. And I just loved that she's got, she's got the receipts, you know? Like she's using product every day. Like you said, so she knows what's up. And she also explains why triple cleansing beats double cleansing in her books, which I thought was really interesting. And she also explains why she personally wears three different types of sunscreen every single day. And she gives us some real talk about the overhyped products and the overhyped tips that she thinks don't really make that big of a difference in your skin. Friendly reminder that every single product that Candace mentions will link to it over on

The Horse Racing Radio Network Podcast

"Every horse. Or know them intimately. Yeah, do you ever get on them in the mornings or is that really not your thing? Not anymore. I did exercise ride for some time. I just don't anymore. I have very good riders that do the job just fine for me and I have a lot of other things to think about on the ground. So I get on the pony, that's about it. How much are you relying on what you're hearing from those exercise riders to help you in making those decisions with your horses? Oh, I really listen to everything my staff tells me. I think it's important. All those little details, if I can't be on the horse myself, feeling what they're feeling, then I want to know exactly what it is that they're feeling. Because that'll give me it's like pieces of a puzzle that I put together to try and figure out how to make a horse excel. So everything, any of my staff say to me, I take into consideration and I put together. Into the puzzle. What do you think the biggest difference is in you as a trainer now as opposed to the young trainer that went to Gulfstream with shabab back ten years ago? I think like we mentioned earlier, it's just sort of a confidence more in my program and in myself. And in the decisions that I make day to day, that would be the main thing. Yeah, certainly makes sense. Katarina facie Ava my special guest here on trainer talk presented by phasic tipton. Okay, so we've talked about big bazinga. We've talked about shabab and rondo. Who are some of the other horses Katarina that are always going to hold a special place in your heart? Julie Marie is a special little horse. She's one that I won first time out with. She's a dynamic sky Philly. She, she's just a little thing. And she's an orphan. And she ended up winning her first start. She won a stake right after that. She was, I think she was unbeaten three in a row. So she was kind of a special horse. And she's just kind of a handy, youthful horse at her level. She's been fun to have around the barn. Did you say she's an orphan? She was an orphan full, yes, and she was actually raised by a percheron. Oh, wow. Wow. Talk a little bit about that with her, because there's a lot of people that are listening going, wait, what? Yeah, so another owner of mine, Brian Wright, had bred her, and sold her to his friend, Kevin drew. He tried to save the mayor during falling. It was a complicated birth. He couldn't, unfortunately, couldn't save the mayor. So they had to get or what did they call it a foster foster mayor for little Julie Marie. And the only one they could find was a perch on. It was a draft horse. So I've seen hilarious pictures of this tiny, tiny little hole with this huge draft horse mayor. This was Julie Murray's mom. So I've always liked this little Philly because she's got this grit to her, this zest for life. You know, like you can tell she's a warrior. From day one, she had to fight fight for herself and fight for her life. And she's kind of gradient determined when she runs as well. So she's special because like I said, she won her first three races in a row. And she's just a useful kind horse to have around the barn. Yeah, it's such a such a cool story and she's easy to cheer for a horse like Jillian Marie when you hear those kinds of things. Those behind the scenes type of stories, if you will. How about imperator? That's another name that always stands out to me. Yeah, imperator was also a very useful horse in my barn. I had claimed him for syndicates for 19,000. I think it was back in 2016. And we ended up winning about 7 or 8 races with that horse. It was very consistent and another hard trier who was a pleasure to have in the barn. And back when I first started training, claiming horses were my bread and butter. That's mainly the type of horses I was given. Which is fine. You know, I welcome the opportunity to train any kind of horse, but yeah, he was definitely a useful little horse. He was one that he would try every time he went out to the race truck. So you knew it would be an exciting time. And it was a group of guys that owned him from buffalo, New York. And they had a great time coming out to the races and watching him run. And that sort of gives me a lot of satisfaction.

Tricky one on my american showing you a little bit here but as gentlemen. I really enjoyed this film. You with any film like this. The thing that has to grab you are the characters you have to hook into the characters and talk about developing that part of it and you can each go at one at a time and talk about that as very important to me as a viewer to relate to these ladies and and kind of go on. The journey with a forest was It was important not to to to being the cliche in oh Because we We knew that when you set up a movie into a Into a who into a net nearer suburbs there is always like expectation from from the audience. We wanted our characters to be You know very quickly. Lovable and In our audience to to to be able to rely to really quickly because we wanted to to To jump into action in As fast as as we could and we know that it's always tricky to try to do that. spent two bits. "The biggest move. He went from fifty third with one hundred and seventy three ninety now sitting sex at sixty four boy and it's a big move because sample of racist to us today. Only twenty two. it's small and there's no guarantee that there's going to be enough prices enough munition to climb up the more like that. So he's done a heck of a job unbelievable Travis allison who not only has also come from a little further back. Travis allison was twenty first. Starting today he is sitting seven. He also won the vaccination drawing the five hundred dollar. Vaccinations look for vaccination proof dry. So it's it's a. It's a win win for travis. Steve to casper's who is as As as good as there is in this arena. He started today ninety sitting eighth with two fifty eight now We have. I believe to new names in ninth and tenth. Let me refresh no robert jones. Robert child's actually david santoni and they were both well part of of yesterday's leaderboard and they both had. I think trickle down Jones was seventeenth coming into the day. He's back up into the top ten and say tony. He was in fact. I had a lead at one point yesterday before fading and tony has re rally. What's really interesting to me. Steve is your your listeners. Probably includes a lot of people who are related or friends of contestants. And they're hanging on your words hoping that you will say their person's name moving up the leaderboard they can't get a bitter feeling the nets that's gonna pick up. This is a big changes. Donning wind up the rails pam bellies finishing well jillian reason behind them. Turning and owens two guys well ahead and the l. gomez four and a half in front lorraina and sick and all the big ginger chili. Maria studied iran as they come down the home straight show laid out of three. The rain is wet on the inside his penalty. Julie marie and all right coming now lorraina racist to the papal recognition. The rate of killing re laredo as the winner wins the l. doma via link. Jillian marie pelley. Oh it's too big g. There is tainted by. Ms weekend will well to hind and the race. Time is one twenty three seventy nine. Well there was a seven to one shot that was leading and then started to get leg-weary you could see at that was one of those There's a whole bunch of ontario restricted stakes. Today at woodbine. I think that's the first of them and The three to five favorite ends up overwhelming. Well that's no fun for a lot of the players that happens although of as we sit on the other days if you're at the top of the board even if you don't play the race you got somebody to root for and that is the favourite well exactly and and that that is you know that's one of the things get you know you get used to the the swings of the pendulum swings of of emotion in terms of finding your price but then also if when you do and getting into position now you're trying to block everybody else out You know kind of reminds nascar race. Where you're kind of jockeying and jostling for position. The entire racers a lot of pressure on you. Whether you're moving forward trying to protect your spot no question for wait for a couple of more. We'll wait for that race to go official and you can now look ahead very close. I think alice it should be about a minute to post. This is the third and then the saratoga fourth and then monmouth four three races to determine who is going to make it into the final table. The top ten. And let's also while we're here. Let's also get you con a consolation. tournament Was an exciting to danny shabas. Leads that Eighty one dollars and david wolf. Who was an early leader. Actually david wolfe is sitting second and third with both of his tickets with eighty sixty and eighty twenty. Dan kaplan seventy seven. Steve grevena robert ramirez keith nods of kav who was also a prominent on the big leaderboard yesterday or friday jordan jane and there's your top eight in the console and the latest to give you you know that's that's nice posh acute for fifty thousand dollars in the price for the constellation so when they started that a few years ago i thought it was a great idea because it keeps everybody going that third day looking. I want to get the Gulfstream's races are finished now. And i'll start to start to file these away. keep All kinds got stacks of paperwork. The last two the third and the fourth year had a nine dollar eighty cents toke on player. That was the one source and simplify. Second was three dollars and forty cents. So nothing major at those in the third at gulfstream. Corey won the fourth to the three horse and added ten dollars and twenty cents. Second place ended up. Going to madeira wine. Six eighty Chantal sutherland not a terrible number. One of the longer prices was a fifteen to one shot that some people might have utilized at gulfstream so far the four racism were done with gulfstream. Now the four races it was the second race. You had nerve for eddie police. These were two year old Turf sprinters twenty back. So that was one of the good prices ranch. From earlier. At woodbine in the third. You had dancing in denial first time starter for gail cox. Twenty-six forty was. There's been there's been about five of these and it explains why there's been such a bold maneuvers but what's amazing is about the two that we we've discussed. That made the biggest moves. They must have hit everything they must. They hit every decent price. There was because. I must admit i haven't been following every race this morning. But you have and for them to generate close to one hundred dollars in mutuals That's hard to do. So you're right. They probably had to hit all of these big winners. Does that keep you rolling or do you or do you do you look. It's basically lose momentum when you get all these in a row i would. I would never argue against pick winners show row but you know the strategy you can change in a heartbeat because it depends on where you are and who's in front of you and where you need to get to so you know. Sometimes you can kind of pull back a little bit if if you knock out a couple of horses out of the park but then you know. Cut back and get middle. Price stores giddy up here. Some rogers jimmy mcnerney and alice run ransom on earlier. From now tracy. Farmers allow rose to the outside of earth. Here's flora's with a six. Why bid on the far. Turn ron with five six months ago. Smile forty-seven to and they're just outside the quarter mile pole. Moonlight big license. The shot up to the extreme outside is floors as they reach the top of the home stretch and miss giddy comes calling for the miss giddy up to the inside now shifting brown ranch. Mantra squeezed through bids. There's no room. Oh here's la bella. Roseau tom bella. Rosa after labor favored ended up. Getting up ron on down to the wire outside. I'm gonna win by two and a half brought him on fought on well to be sucked into short braces. Let's go to saratoga at the back. Go around the far turn. It is blue. Gator who's been in front right from the start still thereby length then perfect munnings. Daddy knows on the outside bourbon. Bay has dropped back then comes bronx bomber and blow. It has forty five and four seconds. Here comes perfect. Money's on the outside. But blue gator is down at the rally and they are heads apart for the late. Perfect putting's is now in front gators running in second farther back. Bourbon bay bronx bomber and daddy knows perfect. Munnings sayings is now open up perfect mornings and leading writer. Lewis is perfect munnings one by almost five who was second. Bourbon checked in third. Well a pair of rudders appear races. back to.

How little pressure wanna take the raina Again another one. That just had said nothing wrong. I wasn't the biggest fan of the last word Baby is trying to keep her attention. because he was pushing it. A little on her but You know money for wrote coming out of a tree. So that's that one could be a juicy lit a price and you know open company coming against the restricted horses to be honest Something you can look at as well. I agree about money for row and and That's a affiliate. We got familiar with Via brian lynch Who also trades as Trains For the roma team and one horse he hadn't mentioned is the maiden. The violence maiden emily lean and This is a horse that is is inching forward inching forward with every start and with the added distances. Well i don't think emily impossible and is obviously going to come in here as a as a price i mean just got beat a neck in a maiden race that miss marie that breed hays runs the carpet diem philly I thought that Emily looked like she deserved at least a an exotic consideration. Yeah and and even more impressive finished second tar flash drive who won the selena And she's quite a nice source. So the you know the barn and you can tell by one at a two year old ran into the princess elizabeth and finish third there so the horses and that work was actually quite nice. The forty eight th street One of the clockers had turned to me and said you know that was quite a nice work for the source. so yeah. There's there's several in here that could win. So that's why it's a great race ten horses you might throw out and that's about it. Turn to the gray to royal north and a lot of familiar horses in here. And i just came from colonial on monday.
