"I was just impressed overall with what I saw, especially in the context of the rams getting steam. Debo Samuels out, forty-niners are still missing some key defensive starters. And the rams have extra rest and prep. And then same frame trails early. There's just so much working against the forty-niners at that point. And then just poof, right? Just flipped forty-niners dominated the final three quarters on both sides of the ball. D'amico Ryan's defense allowed a negative 0.16 EPA per play, the final three quarters, just a 34% success rate for the rams from that point forward. And I think what's kind of scary here for the rams offense that's now trending towards one of the league's worst. The one fear you had in this game. Protecting your quarterback didn't actually unfold. Forty-niners only had 6 pressures on 37 dropbacks. And you still couldn't move the ball once the script wore off. Kyle Shanahan was a pagan shit, obviously, with CMC, right? The things he can do with that guy. The final three quarters, forty-niners were successful on 75% of their dropbacks. Led the league in EPA per play over that stretch. Jimmy G's completion percentage was 9% over expectation. He had a fantastic game made a ton of high level throws. It was just domination for the forty-niners of the final three quarters. Yeah, you look at what CMC was able to do in his full debut becomes the first NFL player since 2005 to head for the trifecta, a passing touchdown, a receiving touchdown and a rushing touchdown. And a breakdown some of those counting stats, 18 for 94 on the ground and a touchdown. 8 for 55 through the air and a touchdown and one for one passing with a 34 yard touchdown pass. And if we're calling it the pony personnel, which apparently is what the forty-niners have dubbed it, putting two half backs on the field with Jeff Wilson being the other. 77 yards and a touchdown plus 7.1 EPA according to next gen stats. That package was successful on 7 of 9 snaps. And for all of those Jimmy Garoppolo haters out there pain and I know we talked about it before the show started. I don't think Trey Lance finds George kittle in the back of the end zone with the throw he made against the Los Angeles Rams yesterday. No, I mean, obviously Trey Lance brings a different dynamic and hopefully he returns healthy and becomes the quarterback that the forty-niners thought he could be when they drafted him. But Jimmy G is no slouch. He runs this offense quite well. Certainly when playing from a lead, it he's a little bit more confident and there's areas of the field that he is wildly efficient too. He does have some deficiencies, obviously. But yesterday, he was fantastic, and they did exactly what we said they could do. The way the rams defense is built, you can attack areas where they're best players are not. So if you look at Jalen Ramsey, it looks like he had the game of his lifetime. He was honestly fantastic. But they kept the ball away from him. And even the throat is CMC down the sidelines. That's really the only place you can put that ball. Jimmy G was on top of his game yesterday. Had a number of jets fans text me yesterday and go, you think the jets would be in the mix for Jimmy Garoppolo the forty-niners are really done with them. Let me tell you, that apparently is the guy that gangrene wants to bring in because given when we transition from the good to the bad, Zach Wilson appears to be that low hanging fruit. Go for it. Continues to make poor decisions. I mean, this is the guy that I think was disguised in the 16 to 9 win against the Denver Broncos wasn't overly effective by any stretch of the imagination. And when you look at what he's doing, the press conference notwithstanding, which was pretty entertaining if anybody didn't have a chance to see it in the Woodward answers. That Zach Wilson gave almost like a high school kid being grilled about what he did on a Saturday night and didn't want to tell his parents. A 9 QBR on drop X under center comfortably the worst mark in the league was terrible as I said against the Broncos the week before. I mean, when you look at Zach Wilson, the metrics don't lie. This guy is terrible under pressure. He's just not making good decisions. And even his QBR in the pocket at 53.6, it's not bad. It's 14th in the league. He's averaging a hair under 8 yards per attempt. So there's reasons to understand why the jets feel that he can be the quarterback, but you watch him and right now for me he doesn't pass the eye test for anything he's doing for either extending plays or just throwing the damn football away to get it out of harm's way knowing that the jets defense is greatly improved and he doesn't have to be the difference maker every time he's out there to keep this team in football games. Yeah, it's tough because you like what you see from Zach Wilson in terms of the arm strength, the mobility at times the accuracy. But it's just something upstairs isn't clicking to your point. He thinks he's this gunslinger and right now the way the jets defense is played. He doesn't need to be. But again this week, quarterback 26 out of 30 that have played so far in EPA plus completion percentage above expectation. A number of costly turnovers. And those numbers look even worse if you strip out the final drive where if the Patriots make a normal tackle on mims, it's a ten yard gain instead of 65 or whatever it was. That's distorting some of these numbers to make Zach Wilson look even better than his poor performance yesterday. It was really that bad. But that's how we kind of handicapped the game. We thought that Belichick would give him some troubles. He'd given him trouble in previous matchups. It came to fruition again yesterday thankfully for us and our listeners. What I didn't anticipate was Mac Jones struggling as much as he did and thankfully we got bailed out at the end of the first half in more ways than one with the pick 6 that wasn't. But yeah, Zach Wilson clearly at least for right now appears to be the wink link on the jets offense. And maybe for better or worse, they'll be able to figure out what they have because he can't lean on a running back as dynamic as breeze hall, who was unfortunately lost for the season. Other illustrations of bad football that you saw during the course of week 8.
White throws 3 TD passes to lead Jets past Bears 31-10
"Mike white took over as the jets starting quarterback and threw for 315 yards and three TDs and a 31 to ten win over Chicago. It was a good game for the offense, but I'll enjoy this one with my friends and family and tomorrow turns into Minnesota prep and turn the page and keep going to where we're trying to go. The jets trail ten to 7 when white hit Garrett Wilson for a second time with a TD pass is the jet score 24 unanswered points at a rainy MetLife stadium. The jets are 7 and four. Chicago fell to three and 9. Mike mancuso, east Rutherford, New Jersey.
Fresh update on "jets" discussed on Sound ON
"Not likely any time soon. Aircraft that rely on jet fuel will be around for a long time, the use of biofuels is growing, but scaling them to make a major dent in airline emissions is likely a long way off, and the battery technology needed to even consider electric airliners is even more elusive. For now, commercial aviation is looking to reduce emissions, where it can. The roots used by aircraft are being looked at. There is an effort to reduce the amount of time planes spend circling airports sitting on the tarmac or idling at the gate. All of that wastes fuel and spews carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. It may seem that any incremental cut in emissions is a good thing, but the efforts have critics they worry about a kind of airline greenwashing that makes customers feel less guilty about air travel while distracting from the real solution. Jeff Bellinger, Bloomberg radio. I was in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean when it happened. There was a sudden jolt and our submarine crashed on the sea floor. We were in total darkness. Packed Black Friday sports schedule
"AP sports I'm Tom Miriam. On Black Friday, the NBA and NHL were as busy as the shopping malls. 14 NBA games and 13 on the ice were played the day after both leagues were off for Thanksgiving. The Celtics added to their league leading record by beating searching Sacramento as Jason Tatum scored 30 with help from the Boston bench. I think when we might have been down for the end of the half of ten, he knows because of those guys came in and just changed the momentum. The bucks kept pace by beating the Cavaliers thanks largely to a 35, ten third quarter in which Bobby port has played a key role. Felt good for us overall as a basketball team, because it felt like we was playing books, basketball, for a chance. Victories also for the Lakers heat suns, warriors, nuggets, grizzly sixers pacers, rockets, thunder hornets, and the trailblazers in overtime over the Knicks. NHL, the bruins became the first team to win its first 12 home games in the season, as they beat the hurricanes three to two in overtime on David pasternak's gold. Big win for us, obviously, and coming from behind, you know, after Thanksgiving, the game is never easy, so it's good with. The devil's after having their 13 game win streak snap bounced back with a three one win in Buffalo. Other winners, the capitals penguins islanders red wings, Maple Leafs Canadians kraken jets, senators kings and lightning, with Braden points scoring too early goals. I think both teams were into it right away. It was nice to get a couple goals for us early. Pretty good jump on the game. I thought it was a fun game. World Cup soccer, the United States finished in a scoreless tie with England as coach Greg berhalter's young team had the better scoring chances. Overall, pleased with the performance of the group, most importantly, the belief of the group, because that never wavered. The U.S. now must be to ran on Tuesday to advance to the knockout round. Plenty of college action on Black Friday, football winners included four ranked teams tulane, Florida state UCLA and Texas, and basketball top ranked North Carolina lost a wire with state. Benjamin Netanyahu on His New Book 'Bibi: My Story'
"So why don't you give us a little background about when your parents went to Israel, how you were raised, et cetera? Well, I was born in 1949, a year after the founding of the state. And then I devoted my life to intrinsic security and prosperity. And for actually the premise, basically I can contribute to the junior. My generation came into being right after the Holocaust. And my father was a great historian as well as my money and welcome. They devoted to ensuring that the Jewish people recovered an independent state of their own after the horrors of history that were running against us. And my generation started to ensure that black miracle lives on. So I served as a soldier in an elite unit and a commander there. And then our special forces was shot while the whisking officers from hijacked during nearly drowned in the firefight and see what's canal. When we didn't have peace with Egypt, I was bitten by a squatting yearly run with my Jeep into a fandom jet turkey glass and one of our bases, which is like what you see in the movies. And I led many kinds of operations. That was my military service I described it as something to tell. And I think people who want to see how Israel and special forces work will get some kind of inside there. And

"jets" Discussed on NFL Live
"I mean, we're talking about Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. Andy Reid, okay? Like, they're going to the offensive side. I'm not worried about that. I mean, they got a Hall of Fame tight end and Travis Kelce of rebuilt offensive line that's, to me, in my opinion, the best office line in that division. And so we've seen Andy Reid going back to his Philadelphia Eagles day. He had taught pinkston as his number one wife, he was still an NFC champion. So this guy knows, I'm not worried about the offensive side. Like he said, it's on the defensive side, and I agree with Todd. Like, 12, 12 drag picks aren't going to make that Ross. I think they're going to package picks and move up and go get specific guys, but I'm not worried about the office of southern football as relates to the Kansas City Chiefs. Yeah, it's interesting because Mel in this mock has them taken a couple of receivers later on does speak to the receiver depth, but to Todd's point, if you're really competing in this AFC west, you're going to have to have some game changers against some of these other teams. All right, how about this guys? New on NFL live. We've been telling you a little bit about what's going on there with the Broncos. Garrett Bowles apparently said his initial message to Russell Wilson, quote I know you're used to getting hit, you're not going to get hit here. How about that? Well, the smack talk. Let me write, let me write that down. What day is this? Okay. April 14th. That's when that's when those Broncos said they weren't going to let Russ get hit, guys. I'm surprised he didn't put it on April 1st. What do you mean, April fools? The NFL Draft, only 14 days away, April 28th, 29th and 30th. We'll have every pick once again on ESPN, along with our usual expert analysis. It's also available on the NFL network. And ABC's coverage focuses on the prospects of journey to the draft. All three days also on ESPN deportes ESPN radio and the ESPN app. And one of those prospects we'll be talking about inside linebacker Devin Lloyd from Utah has parents that served in the military for decades. Growing up in a military household has shaped who he is as a person on and off the field. I grew up in a military household. My dad and my mother were both in the navy. That's where they met. My dad served 30 years, and when my mom got out, she was at ten years, it teaches you a lot about just self discipline and being accountable to something greater than yourself. I try to do everything I can to do the right thing, you know, every opportunity that I have and that includes giving back, you know, in the military it's all about everyone doing their job, coming together as one to accomplish the mission and I think those same principles translate over to football, which we're instilled in me at a very young age. So many great stories to tell you about. Mel kiper junior released his mock draft four yesterday. As you can see here, or in just a second, he has a defensive player going with each of the first four picks. So that includes a pair of pass rushers and 8 in Hutchinson and kayvon thibodeaux both scheduled to visit the jets on Friday Kuiper has the jets selecting thibodeau at fourth overall. And former Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ritter visited the Seahawks yesterday, Kuiper has Ritter as the third QB off the board, go to Seattle in the second round of the 40th overall pick. Ohio State wide receiver Chris olave visiting the eagles today. Philadelphia owns the 15th and 18th picks in the draft and Kuiper has the eagles selecting olave with the 15th pick. So how about this interesting note from our NFL insider field Yates. He said, if the eagles do use a first round pick on a wide receiver, it would be the third straight year they've done so after taking devonta Smith last year in Jalen reagor in 2020, the eagles would be just a second team in the common draft era to draft a wide receiver in the first round three straight years, the lions did this from 2003 to 2005. So make sure the eagles going for another whiteout here. What's your thoughts on adding Chris olave to this team? I like it. If you don't have them, you need to get them. Just ask every general manager in the NFL right now. It's paying the kind of money they're paying for these wide receivers. You've got to have game breakers. And so yes, they've drafted the last two years. First rounders, they hit on one, they missed on another. So let's go get another weapon. And Chris olave would be a great fit. He's a vertical threat. That's what he does. Track star ran a four three 9 at the combine. And it's not just track speed. He's great at trapping the ball vertically and he's a silky smooth route runner who just knows how to use his body and his body control to get open down the field. So I think that would be a great addition to the eagles if that's one of their two first round picks in this year's draft. You're Todd you talked about jamison Williams at Alabama a little bit earlier. How even despite the ACL injury, he's climbing back up. A lot of people thought number one ride receiver coming into this year if he did not get injured. What do you think about him climbing into the top ten? And why is that happening now? Well, I mean, it's not a guarantee of what happened, but we were worried that is he going to be late first, like 26 to 32. And now we're talking about ten to 1517 in that range. And the reason is, first of all, he's ahead of schedule on the ACL tear recovery. But most importantly, when you put on the tape and everyone kind of this time of year goes back and studies when you're trying to compare the receivers, it's not even close. This dude is unbelievable vertically. The ball's in the air, SEC defensive backs have two steps on them. By the time it comes down, he's two steps behind him and makes the catch. Plus, after the catch, this stop start ability is breathtaking at times. Then you include the fact that Nick Saban called his number ten times as a kick returner. He brought two to the house and he's probably the best gunner in college football this past season. So he is a just an absolutely gifted, wide receiver, and I mentioned Tyree kill before. He really is the closest thing in this draft and probably the last couple drafts to Tyree kill in terms of explosiveness. Yeah, it's one of those deals where that ACA ACL scares me just a little bit and I understand it's different now. It's like basically cracking a nail putting the band ain't ordered and going back out there and completing your task. I just, it just, it makes me a little bit afraid because of his sudden quickness to stop on the dime, start right back up and give some change. Ability that he has. So when I look at Garrett Wilson, I sit there at Ohio State and I say to myself, here's a guy that can play inside. He's not as small. He's a 6 foot, 200 pound guy. Who flashed a lot last year. He came into his own to a degree and so when I look at that in a tough conference, just like the SEC. It wasn't like he was playing in the Mac or the big west or anything like that. Very, very tough on high balls. He goes up and gets it. So he would be my number one guy off the board right now. I had my guy Drake London, but it all just depends on what exactly you're looking for in the draft. Yeah, listen, for me, I think my number one guy is Jameson Williams, but as far as, you know, you know, the Wilson kid at our House. In a couple of things that really stood out to me about Garrett Wilson is the fact that number one, I think after the catch, he might be the best after the catch of any wide receiver in this draft. His ability to make people message just been breathtaking and also his ability to climb the ladder and go win those 50 50 balls for his size. I know we talk about Drake London and his size and going up and get it. Gary Wilson, his ability to go up and get the ball in the air, you know, those 50 50 balls is really, really good. So listen, I think, you know, combine his speed and after catchability and his ability to go up and get the ball, you know, he's a guy that easily could be the number one wide receiver in this draft as well. Hey Todd, while we're at it, we're talking about why receivers here. Let's take us through a few players and you're all satellite team. Players who are best in space, let's start with Arkansas wide receiver trailer bergs. Yeah, it's a 13th annual satellite team. What more prestigious in the Heisman and the ballet Nick off? There's no question about it. This is where you want to be. Congratulations to Jameson Williams. He goes on the list a long list of exceptional playmakers. But we'll start with trail on Burks because we already talked about Williams a lot. Birx is a unique cat. He's a 6 two 225 pounder who loves this slot. So he's a matchup piece on the inside. He's so good after the cat suit. Yes, you see that in the field. Vertical ability, but he breaks tackles. He can break an ankle every once in a while too. This guy is a unique player who's going to be a late first round pick. Then Calvin Austin, I love Calvin Austin. Pint sized dynamite is what he is. 5 8, a 170 pounds. He had a four three two in his 40 yard desk, third among receivers. 39 inch vertical, third among receivers. The best three comb, the best short shot off and he did it on the field two, 15.5 yards per catch 7.2 of those came after the catch this past season. Then you get down to one Dale Robinson. He's lightning. I mean, he's another small guy, 5, 8, 180 pounds, but he's a versatile slot receiver who can play them running back and they can use them all around. Get the ball on his hands. He started out at Nebraska, transfer back to his home towers, a legend in high school in Kentucky, and he put on a show this past year averaged a 111.2 yards from scrimmage. There's a lot of it was screen game, short throws, and also on reverses and handing him the ball. And finally, they list Jones from Tennessee. You see the four three one 40 yard dash. He accelerates in a flash. He's built like a running back. And what I love, like his signature move, tape after tape I studied, catch the quick slant, break the first tackle off to the races with that four three one. Oh, and by the way, he's phenomenal in the return game as well. So these guys are the league right now that is paying a lot of money. A lot of money to wide receivers and difference makers, guys who can create in space. These are some of the guys you're going to hear in the first three rounds of the upcoming draft. I love it. Let's get more of that. There's a lot of them too, Todd, to your point. As long as I can remember, I wanted to be a shortstop for the New York Yankees. Derek Jeter. Man, I'm proud of you. Nicky's win. Once you win, there's nothing else to do, but to win again. Everything that came with it was not part of the dream. I don't have to be your best friend. I did it the best way I knew how. ESPN films present the captain beginning July 18th on ESPN and ESPN+ presented by Capital One. We got two former jets on the show that's key on the left. D wood on the right, just in case you're wondering, why not go through the jets picks and melk for junior's mock draft four for our jets guys today. Mel has the jets taken kayvon thibodeau with the fourth pick that would fill a major need pressing opposing quarterbacks. They pressured them at the third lowest rate in the NFL last season with the tenth pick. Kuiper has a jets taking keys guy. Wide receiver Drake London, given Zack Wilson another target in the passing game and Mel. Also has the jets acquiring another first round pick via a projected trade with a Bengals for the 31st pick where New York adds to its offensive line with Iowa center, Tyler linderbaum, and briefs hall, the first running back off the board in Mel's mock to the jets at 38th overall. This move would pair hall with 2021 fourth round pick Michael Carter who ranked fourth among rookie running backs and scrimmage yards last season. So Dwight, if this is how the jets end up drafting, are you happy with that? Absolutely. Absolutely because this whole rebuild has been about surrounding Zach Wilson and you see in this draft, obviously with Kate on thibodeau, you know, you get Robert solid coaching him up. He's going to have him flying off the edge and then Drake London and then Tyler Linden balm. Those will be two key pieces surrounding Zach Wilson. That's what this whole thing about. It's trying to maximize Zach Wilson. If you can get him to take a major step forward, that's going to propel the jets, which I believe this whole draft, you know, can do is conflict this whole organization from being a laugh is talking to being a team that team is going to have to start reckoning with down the road. This draft is not about for the jets this draft is not about this year. It's about future years to come. These young players have to be able to develop. And I think if they, for some weird reason, hit on all of these the way mail is saying, well, you got Drake London gives you a big receiver in the red zone, high point guy, ex basketball player. You got Thibaut edge rusher that go get the quarterbacks in the AFC east as well as the rest of the AFC. Then you pair that Drake London alone with Corey Corey Davis and more at the receiver position. The problem that I have, though, is the quarterback. What is the quarterback? Last year coming out draft, there was a lot of questions about him staying healthy. Such a narrow shoulders. What's the first thing that happened? He got hurt. So you got to wonder what he is and I know he had to throw up the throw of the pro day and he looks a certain way and we like all that and he, you know, he's a kid that had some flashes at BYU, but he also was often injured at BYU. He comes into the NFL and he's injured again. That's the problem that I have in terms of Zach Wilson. Todd, biggest opportunity for the jets in this draft. Do you agree with Mel? To a certain extent, I mean, he had a good haul for the jets, but just first of all, going back to a Keystone was just saying, listen, you can think whatever you want. I can tell you, and anyone inside the jets organization will tell you, he's their guy. They believe in him, they believe in what they saw from him late in the season, and they're building around him and believe that they can be a playoff team coming up in the next year or two with all these draft picks and all the free agency moves they had. The dilemma of the Jets have, though, is you're picking it four and ten, and obviously you have the two early second round picks as well. But at four and ten, they know that there's going to be a great player available. Is it sauce gardener, the cornerback from Cincinnati? Is it cave on thibodeau? The defensive end is Mel has going here. Or do you take the wide receiver? Because the scary part is if you don't take Garrett Wilson from Ohio State or Drake London from USC, then you're getting down to jamison Williams, who has coming off the injury, Chris olave, who's more of a mid first round pick. They can't afford to go into the year without having a special playmaker as their number one receiver moving forward. That's why it's got real tough decision for 'cause you're staring at a great player, but you're also staring at a great wide receiver. And if you know you're not going to get that player at edge or cornerback, if you're.

"So, catching passes from one of the game's best. All right, so key, you like Watkins to the packers? What do you think? It's interesting, Laura, and Jeff mentioned it. He's not quite devonta Adams, but he can play. He's a veteran player. You know, he was highly drafted coming out of Clemson and buffalo. He just hasn't had the type of career you would envision for a guy to go that high, but he's a veteran receiver who knows how to play football and you pair him with Aaron Rodgers, who knows what it may turn out to be. Well, listen, I think we all know that the Green Bay Packers maybe for the first time in quite some time, I think we used it one of their first round picks on the wide receiver position. As it relates to Sammy Watkins, he's what we call, he's a guy. I mean, he's a guy. He's another body in the room. Obviously he's a veteran guy, but you got to continue to add playmaker to that position. And also just on the other side, you know, we talk about Aaron Rodgers, the back MVP of this league, I need to see him elevate some of these guys that's going to be coming into that wide receiver room. Oh, that's interesting, right? A lot of people talking about how much did devonte Adams play into that MVP award. I'm not taking anything away from Aaron Rodgers like he's taking people's money away, but it is a piece of this conversation. New FanDuel fantasy players, your day is about to get 20% better. I'm gonna remind you guys of this a couple times today and why not because I'm excited. We're two weeks away from the draft in Vegas and the Jags hold that number one overall pick once again. So so far all signs pointing to Jacksonville going with defensive end 8 in Hutchinson, but is that really the plan? Our insider Chris Mortensen brought this up a fascinating scenario yesterday on our mock draft SportsCenter special. Listen to what mort says could happen at number one overall. The Trayvon walker at number three is interesting because I've actually heard that some people think Jack spills holding their cards tight and could surprise everybody on draft and take Trayvon walker number one. Let's stir that thing up a little bit. As far as thibodeau go, I mentioned to you about the Lions, but I also have heard that if the lines don't take them, we can be looking at a slide, a considerable slide that becomes one of those talks on draft night. That's what I like to call a mort Bond. Todd, let's lean into this number one pick. What are you hearing here on walker to the Jags? I love Trayvon walker. I've been saying he's the first round pick going back to October when he was on nobody's radar. He's explosive. He's 6 5, 272 pounds. He's got left tackle arm length, 35 and a half inches, and he ran a four, 5, one. I mean, running backs would kill. A lot of the running backs would kill to have that kind of speed, and he's got it at 272 pounds. But he only had 9 and a half career sacks. And I can chalk a lot of that up to the gap discipline and the steamy plate in and all the talent around him, but you compare him to Aiden Hutchinson, who had 14 sacks set his school record this past season, just in one season versus 9 and a half career sacks, and you got to wonder, and the other thing is Aidan Hutchinson is a franchise pillar. That's the kind of player he is. You've watched his preparedness pre snap. You know, he sees something that he's calling up to the rest of the defensive line just off of the tape that he studied. You watch his plan as a pass rusher. He knows exactly how he's attacking guys on the edges with his hands. I just think that he's the kind of guy you bring in and he turns the whole defense around with his leadership and his effort and his work ethic. And that's why I think when you're talking about number one overall, I love Trayvon walker's traits and he could go number two overall in Detroit, but I would be shocked if Jacksonville passes on Hutchinson. Yeah, Todd, you know it's interesting too, is if we think about who is in charge when it comes to the decision making in Jacksonville and that now is Trent balke, a general manager who, when he was with the San Francisco forty-niners, would often really covet physical traits over college resume. And that's exactly what we're talking about now with Trayvon walker. So again, I'm not saying that he goes that route here, but bulky did have a history with the forty-niners, his draft grades would often not be very high right out of the draft because people would say, wow, he really didn't take guys the projected based off of college resume. If he continues that trend, it does make sense that he would maybe go against the grain and take someone that's not as conventional with that number one overall pick. Interesting. Yeah, like for me, it's like, you know, wait a minute, guys. We're going to take a guy number one off a traits, and I get it. I get all the, you know, I get what he was asked doing that scheme down in Georgia and, you know, his combine and all those type of things. But we're talking about the number one overall pick. And we just, you know, this is the passing, we just haven't seen that out of Trayvon walker as far as rush moves counter rush moves being able to consistently get to the quarterback. We've seen that from 800%. Is he miles Garrett? No. Is he his Twitch is Nick Bosa? No. But I think just from a character standpoint, he got better and better every year, Michigan, and then ultimately, you know, came about where this guy had 14, what, 14 sex, his last year at the University of Michigan. So give me that guy who I've seen on film, do it over and over again as compared to a guy who's from a trade standpoint had what you like, but I just haven't seen that production as far as getting after the quarterback consistently. And to be clear here, we're not saying the Trayvon walker is going to fall down past the top ten. Look, I think it's very realistic as Mel has him slotted. He could go with three. He could go maybe a little bit past that, but key, do you think it's smart to bet on someone in a little bit here, which is what they would be doing with the number one overall pick? I think when you got the number one overall pick, you need a sure bet. That's a game changer, a franchise, pillar, much like the guys are saying right there. You don't hope and pray with the number one overall pick because if he becomes a bust versus a boom, it's set your franchise back forever. And if I have any reservations at all about taking Hutchinson or timba do or walker with the number one overall pick, I'm looking to get out of there, even if it's not a quarterback that somebody is going up to get. Why just pick someone just because you have the number one overall selection. I remember when I played for the jets and we had the number one overall peak and Bill Parcells. And Peyton Manning decided not to come out that year. Guess what we did? We traded the number one overall pick and we wind up being in the AFC championship game and those guys that we selected with all of those picks helped us do that and tripped bulky is a part of that Bill Parcells mindset. So I wouldn't be surprised if he's thinking that way as well. Just two things for me. First of all, I think it's interesting what more was saying too, talking about cave on thibodeau, but when you look at this, it could be the first time in decades in the draft that we see three defensive players come off the board, whether it's 8 and Hutchinson or Trayvon walker at one. I can tell you for a fact right now. Detroit would die to have the Hutchinson at number two. So they'd be thrilled if Jacksonville won with walker at one. And then at number three, Houston could take cave on thibodeaux. From Oregon. So that would be the first time in a long time that we saw three defensive players. The second thing is, is Damien woody in the middle of a monsoon. Yeah, what's going on here? Do you want to cut to D wood shot real fast? Look at this. Deep wood, is someone pouring buckets over the top.

"That game. And so I think people say, you know, from people with the Patriots that I texted about, they were just like, it's not a they were saying, basically, it's not a good look for him to be doing stuff like that out in public that he loses respect in the building, how much he had, I don't know. By basically showing to be a bill hanger on her. So I thought I would point that out in my column, and yeah, I stand by that. Yeah, I mean, listen, I don't know. I don't know Patricia. I don't know what's going on behind closed doors. It's rather obvious that Belichick likes him that they're, you know, Friends, whatever you want to say, how deep that friendship runs. Again, I don't know. But, you know, I think this is just Patricia saying, I don't care. I'm hanging with my guy. And I'm going to have a beer. So stick that in your pipe and smoke it. And you know, maybe there's a little bit of jealousy because of that friendship between Patricia and Belichick. But I'm not saying that those other people in the building don't have reason. To be a little, you know, I roll emoji to Patricia. It's just this idea that they're Friends. It's rather obvious. I mean, he's bill's guy. And so, you know, Friends hang out together, whether it's a good look or not. I mean, again, I don't know. This week, we got a big one. Chargers, at LA, which really is an all real advantage. We'll talk about that game. Coming off the heels of this impressive one against the jets. Yes, it was the jets, but I thought it was impressive the way that they handled that game. We'll have a lot more on the charges game, Justin Herbert, what to expect from the Patriots offensively. So Greg bid patriots podcast with Nick cattles brought to you by. "Last week, when we picked this game that U.S. had it at 7, I said lay the points all day. I felt like we were going to finally see the Patriots click on Sunday and put some things together. You know, broken clock is right twice a day. So I got that one right. And I know some people say, well, it's the judge. It's the jet. Listen, I think that's so disingenuous. Yes, it's the jets in the jets aren't very good at football, which would seem like a big deal since that's their job is to play football. But the fact that the Patriots just handled them and put up, you know what, 54 points on them. I do think that, again, relatively speaking, when you dominate an NFL team like that, it does mean something. And so I don't think we just sweep it under the rug. It's not like they won by a field goal here. They showed they are clearly better than the jets. And I think they showed at least some progression for sure offensively. The significance of the jets went for you Greg. Yeah, I think it was the biggest takeaway was the offense. I think that we've continued to see little baby steps with this offense. I mean, scoring 9 out of ten possessions against anybody is a job well done. And I thought that the Patriots, the thing that impressed me, Nick was just the execution level. You know, from the first drive of the game. I mean, that Nelson, the Kendrick born in Nelson Aguilar play. And I broke this down over at BS J this morning. Showed me a lot because that's the type of play where, you know, there's 5 different parts that need to come together for that play to be successful. And so far this season, the Patriots haven't been able to go really 5 plays without something blowing up. And so for Michael wenu to cut the end, who was extended. And so that makes it even tougher block. That's the whole key to the play. If he doesn't cut that end, the guy probably deflects the pass, maybe picks it off, it goes the other way. And we're like, here we go again. But he gets the end on the ground. That lets Mac Jones get the ball over to Kendrick Bourne. Nelson Aguilar at the same time is engaging the cornerback like he's going to block sell the block, toss the guy then go, then born. You know, a guy who doesn't throw the ball that often has to not only throw the ball in the money, but have good timing to where, you know, there's a guy coming right in his face, leaping to get the ball out there. I mean, it was very impressive. So, you know, that really got things off to a good start and I thought we.

Justin tucker drill a game winning sixty six yard field goal as time expired. I still can't believe. I mean as a typical detroit. Lions way to lose they as they lost to the baltimore ravens today but really really incredible. How with such regular regularity. These coaches are attempting sixty plus yard field goals. Today and guys are hitting them to. It's not you if a guy would attempt i sixty or sixty one yard field you've roll your eyes and say there's no ways even come close to ending it and now guys like justin tucker hitting it and It's really incredible to see you know with the kitchen. You want the jets. I mentioned adam gays. It's a case like offense that we've seen. The run game is non-existent. They actually managed to rush for one hundred fifty yards which by the way A couple years ago twenty. Eighteen legit. Chris ivory still. He had a gigantic game against the denver. Broncos y right around this time in the season week four week five right around there you know three or years ago whatever it was too as an eighteen i believe was and he had a game where he ran for over two hundred yards Set a bunch of jet single game records. Look great was incredible since then those game where the jets ran for over two hundred and fifty yards as a team since then the jets only run for one hundred fifty yards in a game three times including last week and they didn't come close to that number today Just absolutely terrible. They had no answers for the good defensive scheme that was run out there by fangio and the denver broncos today You know matt leflore. He's the younger brother of packers head. Coach mike leflore and you know you. Just sit here and say that. This kid looked completely outmatched today. He was playing checkers while the coaches were playing chess. The old you know that that old gag and It was just another non-competitive game of the last two weeks. We've seen the jets scored fifty two. Six is just the same old jets that i know the people over there in floral park new jersey. Eight eight eight year that but it looks like the same old jets right now. It smells like the same old jets right now and guess what better. Same old jets A couple of questions. I is it. Preparation is it coaching. Is it the players. What is the problem right now. i know the jets aren't most talented team in football. I know the jets probably wouldn't even be in the top twenty to twenty five. Most talented teams have football but they have talent. They have something now they have a better offensive line. Then what we've seen so far and they haven't played You know. I know mci becton is down and him. Being injured doesn't help but the offensive line very tucker mcgovern fant all those guys half to play better You know and they had to start opening more. Pass the running game which the running game also has to step up another guy. zach wilson. He has to step up today. Nineteen for thirty five hundred sixty yards no touchdowns. Two interceptions terrible cannot happen. Means the last two weeks against the broncos and the patriots. He's got no touchdowns and six interceptions unacceptable. No matter if he's getting bad breaks or bed play from his receivers..

"These teams are so far away from being relevant so far away from being good this time really only can be hearken back to in one thousand nine hundred seventy s when the jets missed the playoffs for ten straight years. Which by the way the jets have tied now the if the jets miss the playoffs this year will be ten straight and you know the. The giants are added playoffs every year since two thousand sixteen so seventeen eighteen nineteen twenty twenty one now. This will be the fifth consecutive year. The giants have missed the playoffs. Just nothing but incompetence from these two teams but like i said the jets lost today for the denver broncos. Twenty six nothing. that's right. I said twenty six nothing and no adam. Gays did not come back to coach the team. The last couple of weeks adam. Gays did not have the reins of of the offense that we so rightfully so criticized during his tenure. Here new york the jets have so far. You know if you look less year just were owing three like i said through those three games. They were outscored. Ninety four to thirty seven terrible absolutely terrible will this year. They've been outscored. Seventy two twenty so somehow even though the jets offense was terrible as year through three games. They've actually managed to score seventeen less points than they did last year. Incredible it doesn't it doesn't make sense. It boggles the mind. How bad the jets have been Through these first couple games you know offensively really the only time. They looked like competent. Offense was in the second half of the first game against carolina the entire game against the patriots. Patriots are really good defensive teams so i not gonna kill them for it but the entire game against the patriots. They look bed. You know you had zach going out there. Throwing four interceptions look terrible. this week. He goes there to get shutout. Jose mustard last week was two field goals. They mustard nothing today. They had a chance to make ten to three early on and hit a fifty six yard field. Goal which kicker rookie kicker matt amendola did hit. He drilled a fifty six yard or right down the middle but then they had a five yard penalty for delay of game which was ridiculous and they deserved it though. It wasn't a bad call by the officials. Were just ridiculous that the holder couldn't get the the stat down the ball. Dannon time absolutely ridiculous. The jets ended up blowing that that cost themselves five yards. It went to a from a fifty six yard field goal to a sixty one yard field goal. You know. I understand robert sala not wanting to get crazy especially if you watch football like i did. You saw the game earlier in the day where You know a hundred and nine yard Was one hundred. Nine yard. Touchdown was brought back by the jacksonville special teams player..

"We're running behind them, try and stop it. I almost feel like that's the way to go. 'cause I even if the jets know that's coming, unless they, you know, bump Quinn Wilson out, where he's on the outside shoulder of the guard. I don't know that they have the personal to stop that. Yeah. I mean, that's really the only place that they have to avoid running the footballs right. I quit and Williams, right? I mean, everywhere else it seems pretty vulnerable for the jets. I hope that they don't try to just run smash mouths because there should be plays in the passing game that will let's say that that's the only play they have to run, but I'm saying like, I think in week one against Miami, they fell a little bit into a trap of all we have these two tight ends that can block. We're going to put these two guys out at the end of the line and just run behind a four man wall, right? And that in theory is makes sense because you have you have four guys wide there that you can create a wall with, meaning four from center, right? So you have on when you win donu hunter Henry, let's say, or on the other side, mace and brown Johnny hunter Henry. And that is a really that four man wall is very can be very effective. But it didn't move the dolphins front, especially after trend Brown left the game in the way that they necessarily thought it would. Now, just really quickly, they ran the ball 27 times on first and second down and they ran 16 third dance in that game against Miami. If I'm the Patriots, you can not get into third down 16 times. I don't care what the events are going up against in the NFL. That's just not if you're in third down 16 times it's because you're not a good first and second down offense. That's the first and second down problem. That's a not a third down problem. And that also comes to the play calling and the lack of aggressiveness to a degree from Josh McDaniels. So they need to be more aggressive on offense. And that doesn't necessarily mean that they can't run the football, but they definitely need to be more aggressive on offense. Well, you know, it's interesting..

"20 is the code 20% off. Go get yourself one of those sweatshirts, 'cause they're very, very comfortable. All right. Let's talk about the Patriots offense going up against this jets defense here a little bit. I want to talk about the running back situation offensive line situation too. But the first thing I want to do is talk some scheme and Belichick said it on Wednesday. This is a Seattle style cover three system that the New York Jets are running. Robert Saleh basically taking the defense he ran in San Francisco, bringing it to the east coast and dropping it in the metal ads, right? It's the same exact system that they've seen in Seattle over the years with San Francisco over the years. And a lot of other teams that have tried to emulate this Seattle three defense. Now, the problem that I see for the jets is one of the reasons why the legion of boom was able to execute such a simple system was because they were the legion of boom, right? They had Richard Sherman, they had Earl Thomas, they had camp Chancellor. They had real playmakers in the back end. This is not a complex system. This is not a confusing Brian Flores type of defense. You pretty much know what you're going to get. And they really count on great execution and great continuity in the back end to be able to put all of the pieces together. This jets team is not there yet, right? They have a lot of holes in this secondary before they are going to be able to run the system as cleanly as it needs to be run. This is an extreme rebuild. I was talking to Nicole Yang of the Boston goal about this the other day. And we kind of almost looked at it like where the Celtics were a few years back where they were so bad that they were able to get a top whatever it was 5 pick three pick. And then still get another one the next year. You know, because they were just so the jets are so far away. They really to tear the thing down from the beginning. Even with all their high picks, they just still don't have the talent. They didn't choose to sign anybody in free agency, which was an interesting decision. Oh, I guess they did. Corey Davis is okay. Well, it's time people there's 9 people on other positions. They didn't sign a corner or saved a top safety. They didn't re sign Marcus may, who's a solid player for them in the back end, probably their best defensive back..

They were like ready to like just jumped off the ship. Has i thought you know. There's a kid in his first snaps. Look pretty good again against basically a second and third string defense but move. The ball showed some you know showed some energy look. I'm a believer. That justin feels should have been the pick for the jets. I will you said that is truly truly believe justin fields like will be and he looked at all he. I think he is going to be a top top. Top notch quarterback zach. Wilson is good. I think he's got. I think he has some some assets to work with. I just think he's a little wa. I am questioning you know he played in. Byu didn't have the greatest schedule last year. He toward up. But i don't know. I'm just very curious to see how he'll play with pressure and you know in the big you know. I think there's gonna be some growing pains this year. So i'm gonna make a couple of comments here about All the points you just made Starting with the giants fan fest One of the things that the giants always seemed pride themselves on is the that they don't go in that direction. They are an old school team with an old school mentality. And that's what they like to celebrate about themselves. and that's that's fine not a lot of gimmicky site. No there's there's it's just straight to the point we are football and football only and we're going to celebrate that and that's fine it is what it is They're not right. They're not wrong. That's just how they like to operate This is a different kind of year. Where getting fans back into the stadium. Like you said it's the first time a thin is is walking into metlife stadium during the joe judge era so going to change things up a little bit here and we're going to celebrate all these things and we're going to we're going to bring fans back with a party like atmosphere and we're gonna do everything we can celebrate not just the fact that it's That it's the football season. We're gonna celebrate the fact that fans are back in the building and i spoken to anybody in their front office but i would assume that. That's the mentality behind it. Because it's it's certainly not something that joe judges bringing over from the patriots that that's clearly not a bill bella. Check thing Now going to zach wilson. The one thing that i can say here is what you are looking for. Especially in week. One of the preseason is. He looked like he belonged. And every article. That i've read and i'm sure you've read and every jet fan has read. Is things have been very shaky in these practices for zach wilson. He's overthrowing targets he's misreading targets. He's i saw a couple of things. He's running the wrong play. I don't know if any of that's true. I'm not offering stereo. Like i'm not watching. These practices also assume that every beat writer out there and and every writer. Anybody who's covering the jets. They know how quickly they can get a jet fan. Go off the rails. It's almost fun at this point. See say a couple of things up. Zac wilson look good. There and every jet fan is up in arms and everybody wants to read what you're writing and that that's a fun way sometimes to over blow it. Maybe it was overblown. Maybe it wasn. But i can tell you after watching week one and the short time that zach wilson was on the field and yes it is against a second tier defense and a third tier defense and the giants didn't really have a lot of people..

"The waiver wire calm for a number of weeks like enticed every week. You're like guys. Do you understand what james crowder is doing here. Especially in pr like you know but in you always have to take camp records with a camp reports with a grain of salt. I'm telling you right now. But the allies you're more like high. Trade is out of control hype. Train is out of control. Train is moving fast right now. But you're right matthew and that. I'm not saying this is what i don't think that allies more guaranteed to fall into this bucket but every year i mean almost every team. There's like ten guys per roster they're like oh my god. This player looks amazing. Right i mean how. Many players are receiving positive buzz. Right now we're talking about it again. And i'm not trying to like earlier. We were talking like nikiel. Area has been legitimately one of the most housed about players at the patriots training camp. Who knows if that will amount to anything. So i think lies more a player. I i think we all kind of agree is really potentially useful in dynasty. Don't know that he's the kind of guy that a touchdown upside you just don't see. i mean. we talked about this. Mike clay for years on the podcast nonetheless. Lot receivers with a bunch of tied inequity. Right russia and equity. Excuse you just don't see a bunch of guys that are five foot eight diminutive in size going up and winning with fades in the red zone or something like that. So i actually think. It's corey davis said. I would believe it or not because first of all like it's laughable. How we don't. He's like we've talked about five thousand times and yet we can't just like get ready to accept. It's just a good solid football player right. Like not sure. He lived the fifth overall. Pick billing when he came out but just a good solid started out with some in he. He had a bad hamstring injury as rookie year. Like what he has to health issues. Right correct so i think. Corey davis is the jets player amongst pastors that. I'm most interested in rostering. Let me ask you another question. Though one of these players blows up this year and finish his top twenty fantasy wide receiver. Which one is it. Who's most likely to be the answer to that question. I'm going to go with cory. Cory davis okay. How about you. I was gonna say i think allies more like i think it depends what you need at the end of your draft. I said allies more. Just because i think the upside is there but there's also a wide range of outcomes. If you're telling me like i need to. I need sixteen team league in our war room league. It's probably davis because who's more likely to be usable on a week to week basis. It's definitely corey davis. He's got a higher floor than i think. Allies you're more. I just think. And maybe it's a ten percent chance or fifteen percent chance. But i think it's within the range of outcomes that allies you're more has just monster year this year. I think but like. I think there's a there's a chance i just think that if you're elijah more i don't know he's a deep threat player right. I don't know that he's like ten. Or twelve touchdown guy. I think it's possible that coordinated competing with james credit who's also really good player for snaps in the slot. Yeah and i think like if. You're corey davis any i. I am excited about all the bus. I'm not diminishing. I believe that he's been as i. Just think that. If one of these guys has a thousand receiving yards and nine touchdowns or ten touchdowns league corey davis doing that. Because he's come close to doing it. In the past the touchdown thing is is very fair. By the way you mentioned denzel mims and you're talking about camp buzz. The camp buzz on danzon mims is the opposite direction easy. He's he's behind keelan coal by most reports so the jets the jets actually have like not necessarily top end de have decent depth that wide receiver..

"How many of those guys turn into immediate sparkplug fantasy assets. I have one guy off the top of my head. And i could be dead wrong. But it's like using five eight two hundred pounds likely for the record. Maurice jones drew but he was like such a he. He's built may i'm jay. Dee might have been like he always stats an md. Coming j. jd. Coming out of college was five foot seven. I believe short on five eight and he's probably thicker than from was times in person he's like. Oh he's a. he's a bowling ball player. i think he's he's more. The exception to the point is that right. I don't think you saw those two and a lineup. You'd think like that guy is built like that guy right meaning versus j. d. so i think we both agree but even though so we still had like search for maybe want right. It's it's there's also potential for work share. This is the young basically the offensive system and staff from san francisco where we as we know whether it because of injury or there because of just preference frequently were shuffled back spot so what did surprise me if kind of all these guys got a little bit of work but none of them became a weekly fantasy starter. So let's talk about the wide receivers. We'll get into it as we're going to double trouble but like trae sermon is really really talented. James connor is going to get a lot. You know again. Health is always a concern with. James is gonna get a lot of work in arizona as well so You know and and even ronald jones. By the way. I mean. I know you've got four nat and you got giovanni bernardo field but ron jones has had fantasy success on a much better team than the jessica say like if you had the opportunity to potentially draft the bucks top rusher or potentially draft the jets. Top rusher right joe. So for the jets There's really tight end of note. I would say on the jets. Unfortunately chris earned has just never happened but there are three maybe four wide receivers that are least worth mentioning by name. Corey davis assigned to three year contract with thirty seven point. Five million dollars this off season jamison crowder who had take a reduced contract to stick around with the jets who past couple of years has been heavily targeted and a pretty solid player overall. He was wide receiver. Twenty five hundred points per game basis their top of the second round pick elijah moore who was outstanding amazing last year in the first year lane kiffin as the head coach at amiss and denzel mims come a forgotten soul who average less than seven fantasy points per game last year. Second round pick out of baylor in two thousand twenty. I'll ask you the same question for the jets. I did the patriots. Is there a wide receiver that you believe out of those four most deserves to be kinda late round lottery. Ticket probably allies. You're more niagara. Because he's got the highest feeling. Well i mean here's the thing. I think corey davis has chance to be useful at gordon. Good player a good player. Who has signed a big contract and very easily could lead this team and target share. Yeah probably will. It's probably the odds on favourite to lead this team and target share so good player. Big fast again signed a big contract. They expect them to be to your point about jamison crowder. James crowd was really productive last year. Remember we were talking about them all last year like and i remember you wrote about him in the free..

"We're back focus and let's talk about the jets skill players matthew. We'll start in the running back backfield. Where the jets. I think have three players of note. Michael p reiner third round. Pick lash out of florida. Why are we. Why do we why we suddenly went dark. I love it right about the jets would just to play right now. You know spotlight so for people who did not who are not watching on the live stream it just suddenly all the lights in the podcast studio went out working with me and i felt like i kind of felt like i was at a play. I kinda wanted to say to matthew. Talk less rice smile more. Yeah nobody wants to hear me scenes. Operate their jets have three running backs. Michael p ryan third round. Pick last year. Kevin coleman veterans signed this off season to a one year deal and also michael carter fourth round. Pick this year hundred and seventh overall very very shifty. Great pass catching back out of north carolina incredibly elusive but good to any value in this backfield. I don't think so because by the way you said they have three running backs they have four. I think johnson. Johnson johnson gets some run here enough. Yeah yeah i mean. They liked him towards the end of last year. And you're getting some positive things about him and camp like like michael. Carter is getting the most buzz. Fourth round rookie out of north. Carolina played well for the tar hills last year average. Six point six yards per carry lead bs with The most rushes of twenty or more yards last year. Big playability for this guy. You know has nice pass catching ability but again. Tevin coleman familiarity with coleman. Obviously you know The forty niners staff is now coaching the jets. And so there's familiarity from their time together in san francisco. You mentioned p. ryan the rookie from last year. They like him and johnson as well so. I don't know that this offense is good enough that it's going to be in scoring position to sustain a fantasy viable running back unless that player is getting a decent amount of volume. And i'm not convinced michael. Kara gets kind of volume. You're going to need on what we expect to be fairly low scoring offense. We give me an okay. But like he's his current eight. his current. Ep isn't terrible. It's running back thirty eight. Although on other sites. I've seen him going way higher. He's going in the fourteenth round. So i don't mind him in the fourteenth round but here's where he's going field. He's going in the ronald jones james connor tear and he's going around earlier than trae sermon. I would have. They're all. I'd rather have all three of those guys more than michael carter. Yeah i don't think there's a lot of precedent and i understand that like you could probably always find that example of something happening once but five eight two hundred pounds pass catcher by trade. I know he ran. Lot ran the ball. Well at north carolina but i do believe the reason why teams were most interested in michael cardoza because of his pass catching value..

"And the buccaneers so right interesting prospect probably year at minimum away from being a guy that we're counting on fantasy but a guy that by that guy that at least based on college not scared a chuck it deep as a has a strong arm and i think he will be so. I think it's great that he'll be starting from game one. I think he will be a fantasy asset sooner rather than laser but probably not this year. If there's a positive it's that we don't think the defense is gonna be pretty good so they might be getting into some shootouts. And i think. Zack wilson will be good enough that to the extent you want to invest in any jets pass catchers or any pass part of the jets offense that he's going to be able to get the ball to those guys so we we do have to move on but i want us to real quick question just from dynasty perspective Redraft zach wilson. Are you drafted him this year. No redraft no so for dynasty. You've got all these other rookies that we're taking him around him in different situations. Zach wilson the lowest rated of that top tier of quarterback rookies even in dynasty for you or does he rank above potentially mack jones. I've ever fest infield. You've got an fine. I've got i've five. I mean. I think. I don't think anybody's going to argue with trevor lawrence justin fields and trae lands going ahead of him because trevor lawrence is trevor lawrence and the other two were potentially dynamic with their legs as well and also very potent with their arms. And i'm gonna go with mac only because like there's a chance that like mac takes the job relatively early and just i'm sorry jets. Fan fault me. For having more organizational belief in the patriots in what they've done versus what the jets have done where we've seen this story before where a quarterback looks promising and then three years later. He's waiting for the panthers. Yeah i mean exactly. I mean and also just believe also josh mcdaniels mcdaniels offense one thing that i talked about and raucous in nfl. Draft podcast. But i talked about this during the process especially when mack jones is being remembered as number number three overall and then it was like all of a it became almost like taboo. Have affinity for mac job. I'm like you don't understand. These are five amazing quarterback prospects. None of them is a complete waste of space. Like they're all incredible. Someone's going to have to go fit that these five and that's still a really good player and i still think that all five of them have a chance to be stars in the i mean right all five of the one in the first round all five one in the first fifteen pick this one of the first three picks in the nfl draft was an. Yeah we thought was a quarterback. There's a chance that five could've gone to the first eight picks will right. We're talking about like. I think the floor for mac jones probably the panthers and number eight right so things change fast in the nfl. But i think for now. I haven't fit but that's not i don't wanna make. That seem like a huge indictment of him. Yeah and also by the way like and we both said this after the job. We thought the jets did a good job. I think we're both joe. Douglas fans we think the jets are headed in the right direction. Long way to go but they are if you are a jets fan. I think you have cause for optimism agree on that. They're they're on their way. It will take some time talking about the skilled players in just a second but for a moment and daltry matthew imagine a nice vacation is their view. The parking lot new book a cheap hotel book expensive hotel for cheap on hot wire with hot deals..

"Our favorite hunter of all time dot pad is so pat worldwide. That i don't even think of them. Just a pilot was he's the analyst on smackdown. He's got a daily show you know. He's i mean guys. The largest youtube following everybody permet on pats world. We live in it. And that's a good point. We'll have that are. Let's get to the new york jets and the jets of course new quarterback this year matthew zach wilson number two overall pick gada. Byu really impressive. Final college season came on very very strong this year. It was clearly trevor lawrence one and then it became pretty clear that at least for me draft mock draft standpoint. It was going to be clearly. Zach wilson number two in a draft class that also featured justin feels and lands mack jones. So a lot of pedigree. Here for zach wilson. But i will say. I think that it became clear. That zach wilson too because of the jets not necessarily like think like had other people. There'd been another team at two right. Maybe zach wilson doesn't go to think of the forty niners had to i think trae lance gone to yep that's i think that's still out of the way that it became clear cut number two for them and this is a team that desperately needed a new quarterback of turning away. Sam darnold yes. We're your way we two years away on. Zach wilson where we at. And and i don't like i think listen. I think zack wilson. It's gonna have some growing pains. Obviously they still have some concerns. The offensive line that they tried to address that in the draft a little bit and they drafted becton last year. So like it's getting better but it's still it's still an area of concern and he's he's he's going to be a rookie but he's like as we talk about. You know field. Garoppolo matt jones or cam Justin field andy dalton. We talk about some of these quarterback camp. Like jack wilson like. He's the guy that the jets aren't even pretending like it might be might be like and having camp right totally. Is it mike. White is that the western kentucky. Mike white is also james morgan. They last year and they recently signed josh johnson. Okay veteran yeah. Xfl af afl. Yeah play for twelve different. Nfl teams including the football team. Quickly one thing you can tell you like you can say without certainty loves football. Yes he could've given this thing up ten years ago easily loves football. It's not like he's made. Bundles of cash is not one of those backup. Quarterbacks has got thirty million. The bank josh. Johnson loves football. I remember. I remember him playing in. He was the fourth quarterback of the year for washington..

"Our first round pick. Who who who should have been a pro bowler got snubbed. Amazing amazing inside linebacker for the chicago bears. He waited. He waited and got the contract that he wanted. And yes he might have missed a week or two of training camp. And you might sit here and say well. That's just the linebacker and it's not the quarterback. It doesn't matter. Wait three weeks to help you for the next three four or five years you know. Deadline breeds action right in. You know you know that the close get the preseason. They know how important those reps are though right now. Those reps aren't important. I was there. Listen to team. Didn't have on patch. You know it was an hour and twenty minute practice. He's been there for all the ta's he's learning the playbook. I don't think he's probably working out. I think he's in town somewhere. Probably waiting for things to be finalized. But that's why you hire your agent right to do the dirty work for you because he's advising you because you can't make business decisions which are emotions and right now. He's going to have to fight for what he believes in it. That's what they believe in to. He'll he wants to die on then so bid. I have no problem with that. I don't think his teammates does do either you about the idea of veteran quarterback behind him because mike white was leading the practices and i know viewers are saying mike white. Who who. who's the quarterback. That was news to me because i don't even know my wife. Shouldn't you bring in a veteran. Shouldn't there be melissa. Slow down to break up the brakes from china. China's that's it no no. I'm just trying to channel jets fans who when they saw zach. Wilson drafted a lot of more like. We're back not bad now. Where is he where. There's no vet behind him. Well they reset the market right so not a reset their time line in in recent years away you win is not paying your rookie quarterback sam darnold timeline now did they didn't believe in san antonio the time line between the team ready to win him being ready to carry a team and pay him you know it was out of the line right. That's why lead. Jamal alums goes well. Because you're gonna have great players still be a bad team. You know. Calvin johnson khalil. Mack is examples of that right. But you know you wanna make sure that you have a supporting foundation around a young quarterback and now that they're better equipped to support a young quarterback with what they've done with the office align the run game and build something slowly. But you know there's no need to panic because understand it it's going to be guys says because whole it's a whole secondary market. The first cuts are usually veterans that team respect because they wanna give them opportunity to get get a job. I've been sampled for for probably about three months. That nick foles is on a collision course of where green again. But it won't be philadelphia. It would be what the jets and then maybe they may have to fight for it services a little bit blake. Bortles is out there. It's going to be some veteran quarterbacks. Get cut that can really pick up a system really fast. But if you're back with your backup quarterback you're going to be picking high in the draft anyway so it doesn't matter so you don't wanna rush wilson because this is about a three year window in which you wanna try and take advantage of him being on a rookie deal but you can really support in low contracts for a lot of supporting cast. They wanna get so when you have the backload his contract or pay his contract all the contracts lined up. You can have a young team that can be have a window for three or four years and by the way all this puts pressure on the head. Coach robert saleh. He was talking about this yesterday. What he thinks about. Zack wilson not being in camp. Take a listen to this from a rookie standpoint unions. Many representative can veterans. Always get off days here and there anyway so they do miss but I it is. It's it's It's something that he'll have to navigate through and And i i've got a lot of faith to you know he's a he's he's incredibly intelligent..

"Why don't you get better coaches to coach him. What i mean like so what you're telling me. The new york jets organization is at you. They don't trust your evaluation and how you evaluate talent number one or number two. You don't trust your coaches in developing talat. If you're so concerned about paying the sky the guaranteed money that he's earned that he's deserved at least the contract stipulates are should stipulating. Then i would be questioning your own decision making in drafting him. Well what they're going to tell you is we. Don't want to set a precedent and really feels to me as a lawyer write like a lawyer. The one thing. I always did when i was practicing law. I always said if we had a problem if i was on a team. If i was on organizational side. I would say if we've been doing something this way for ten twenty years. Do not change it because once we change it. Everybody's gonna ask for it. But i think you make a good point because here's the deal. This is all based on paying him if you cut him before the end of his term. He's the number two pick in the draft. What are the chances. Where's the number that they are gonna cut him. Where's the number. What are the chances that's going to happen. Where's the number three. That didn't work right. trade him. Yeah where's the way haskins at right now right. It's a good point. Check this out. Check this out. This is something that we say the jets have been doing for what ten twenty years or however long how long. Maybe it's under joe. Douglas term. We we're not sure great. The jets haven't been good for however long so so i mean it's been a minute bar it's been so you've got you've been gone for about fifteen twelve roy jones. Y'all got the jets haven't been good says bartlett. No since however long. And so. I i hear what you're saying ryan okay. We don't want to set a precedent. But what if you set a winning precedent. What have you sort of precedent that actually builds culture and that builds a winning organization. What if that was the precedent you said. We all have agents wherever you ever football asia. Tv whatever right. Y'all have agents org if you're in the business world you might be negotiating for yourself right. People say you don't want to set a precedent but but what are we here earlier. Production equals tolerance. They obviously drafted him. Second overall for a reason you might say has produced in the nfl but he produced in college. You need him and so you can. You can bend the rules a little bit. I in my in my contracts you bend the rules. Hey this is the president but hey man come on. Let's make something happen. And so there's no pressure. Zach wilson for listening at home working out. There is no pressure literally the same shoes with roquan smith..

"All pro without a doubt with first team second team and you have allies. You very tucker who was who these faith pick. 'cause he's going to be a good pro not safe in the sense that he won't be great at the bare minimum. He's going to be a good pro. So now you're out of line five You know you ain't got and more so you give you an exact another weapon along with corey. Davis man's jamison crowder is more there. Then you wouldn't go. Go and get michael carter so I'm okay that that is obvious. The plan is protect that wilson and weapons. 'cause at the end of the day just had enough hole that had too many holes to fill them all due to drought. Because you know You know if you guys up in the fifth and sixth seventh round. Those guys won't be able to fill those holes for the most part that first year could they. Yeah but that's not actually changing. That's not fair exhibition on them. So that's the obviously the goal. The plan was to get zach wilson. The pieces that he needed granted auditees guinea. No let me the right side. Line can be improved. The sentence could still be improved. You know they still could have got went and got him but overall they went off the line anyway running back so That was my my initial thoughts in the beginning of the draft. You know later on they win. It got got. They can develop that they're that they believe in The to the safety out of auburn Sherwood and safety out of go to stay are signed here They're really high on most of them. Really hounded the transition over to linebacker and they you know they really play with a hellfire that they love contact. They're able to get downhill. They can play space. So we'll see transitions happen but overall because at the end of the day is that wasn't doesn't work out and whether it's because you didn't give him a help or you didn't build around correctly or he just thinks whatever it is none of it matters if he doesn't work out so doing everything mission you works out is the goal and that's obvious that was a player so minus because we're mad a plan set out in the executed. I thought like when they made that trip to fourteen. I also thought that was a lot to give up. Then i remembered something and this is completely unrelated but the last time. They traded up The fourteenth pick wasn't two thousand seventeen and they got this cornerback from pittsburgh that seems to work out okay right right and was also in that. The third round picks chances of those guys elijah's talker can possibly be your pro bowl. Chance of find a pro bowl and third round is not high like most most of the guys that gives in the third round muslims become most become solid stars. I i look back in the past like seventeen eighteen. Nineteen most those class attack tech twinkling you. It's time to really dive into that. And see and they can turn their most. Those guys are just Outta solid but that's about it. There's not that many pro bowlers. That's come out at around in recent memory Like less than like five less than five per class. That i you know randy my research so you know once i felt like yeah. This is a good. I is going. Get a live birth talker and we're talking with d. Vienna may from the new york daily news so we saw them. We saw the jets in the early parts of free agency. They signed corey. Davis on carl lawson so then let me see that second wave of and even third wave a free agent after the draft in those months before training camp. What do you see the jets doing in these like six weeks before training camp starts probably getting a veteran quarterback. I think that that's a possibility. They're very high on The room right now. with Mike white and Cut who the guy is. But they're very high on my father for not knowing exactly the names going New very won't do is talk about that like offseason but they also did bring hoyer For a visit. So i think they will add a quarterback. I a lot people have talked about. Will the jets at a corner and my my thoughts is a shouldn't if agency 'cause like sherman was on the back nine and so contender. None are they not gonna come here. i don't think i've seen a lot of names of nelson so even though the solid player Twenty eight. he know he saw it. You know but he's not he's not a he's not a pro bowl type player so my my thought is why not. Just let the guys that you have in a cornerback room right now. Continue to develop and trying to capitalize on that. Liz you're bringing in a stopgap guy is only gonna start the growth of The guys you already have winters. Bryce harper lamar jackson or often of bless austin or the guy that you just drafted whether it's Jason out of michael carr the second. So just you know our brand of kentucky so those are my initial thought whereas like you can develop the guy. 'cause you don't have to win this year. There's no pressure on him to win for especially perspective and i think Narrative ron is a has to win so why not use that time to continue to belt which already have in house. So those are two things. I've been broach. People have talked about. But that's not. They try to adequate a quarter quarter veteran quarterback zacks development and we got somebody to lean on and then also You know people have talked about getting a cornerback. But i'm just like. I don't know about stephen nellis in the short on. No about already. Serving to bring back brian. Poole they're not be smooth combined pulled already been here when you've been well. He hasn't been in this be new system but he's already been here but we've kind of been a while so i don't think they'll bring him back but i will they have right now and developing young guys So let's let's talk about this. We say they don't need to necessarily win right now. I i saw your article after the schedule. Dropped on wednesday. And you you're very early. Prediction is six and eleven. Which i think a lot of fans would be would be very happy with given what we've seen the last few years in the at the end of the todd bowles era and got engaged sarah. So seeing at least some optimism in comp- competitive team six and eleven. I think a lot of fans would be able to stomach that of course of course You know yeah absolutely Some the bigger bigger games this year. I'm more into how they look towards the end of the year. Because i've i've talked about from other. Shows is the dolphins in twenty nineteen saw over seven and they finished five eleven. They basically went five and four lot. The last few games last nine games and he looked better than to carry that momentum into the following season when they went ten and six the giants thing thing with them off really slow last year and he finished six and ten they were right there in the fight for a playoff spot. Granted you know a little bit fluky in a sense of you know you had a team under five hundred. Make the playoffs. With the fact they were still competitive able to get in there and even got some big win when they beat seattle And they were competitive. Heavily buccaneers on monday night so for me as long as they are competitive throughout the year. And they're in close games in there. Fighting always could end. I'm good with that. You know i could see easy six and ten possibly seven eleven possibly seven and on the of schedule you play last night scenes and you can check out momentum and possibly steal a couple of game that you're not supposed to you quote quote unquote win so I'm gonna move that. They've made This new environment so.
