"I don't know i mean close is i mean i don't i actually. I wouldn't equate those two. But if i was going to i would say clothes means something to us that it doesn't mean to you in the semi cars means something to you that it doesn't mean to us in that it's a representation of along your identity. I think home homes for women warm generalizing big time right now but because obviously i like house too but yes It occurred to me. When i was on kimmel last night i was like i parked this enormous motor home in front of the new home. Which really the new home is kristen's dream house. She worked with designer. And she. it's what she wants. And i would have stayed at our house forever because it like functions to me as the way a house search function you can have people over be believed there you play cards or whatever but for her. It's like a car like it the way she's gonna feel while people are over. Yeah the way you feel when you're in there. Yeah and then for me. The the motorhome is that it's like. Oh i drive it and i get this visceral feeling so i guess maybe the most comfortable thing. I'm gonna keep brainstorming because there's gotta be also the justification to spend outrageous amounts of money on also similar to the house thing is like when i look at what your while. Yeah the house thing. Like i look at what you're potentially going to do. I'm not going to see any money is gonna say what what you were. What is important to you what you'd be willing to spend decorating your house versus. What i would be is just so different. Yeah your apartment. So nice i gotta give it to you. Thank you great taste. Thank you when. I was cooking this weekend. I was cleaning up. I've been cleaning more to new person. Twenty twenty one. And i was like cleaning up and i was looking around. I was like oh feel good in this space like this. This space makes me feel good. And it's full of stuff that i've collected from places and looks nice and i just rick something to my brain chemistry. I couldn't agree more. And i hit the start button in the way m sitting in the way it sounds and i'm like ooh baby. Yeah i feel like. I'm a superhero in it. How objects can do that. Yeah goodnight goodnight. Sweet dreams sleep tight. Don't let the bedbugs by. But if they do try to enjoy..

That's what i still read. Every magazine memorized every horse. Power every quarter mile time every zero to sixty time. I can still recite all those. But i'm out to lunch on the newer supercars mongolia. They're all crazy fast. What designates it as a supercar funny enough the first episodes all about us trying to actually define what that means but in general. It's a sports car that is like outrageously expensive very low production like they're not making a bunch of them and they have some best in class feature performance wise like crazy motor crazy horse power crazy lap time and their exotic in hard to get a. Yeah i could. I could name of the current supermarkets so like the mclaren seven twenty p but now they have a seven sixty five. That's the supercar these are. "Then for me the next few months. Just goddamn party everywhere. We joe up. It would just be like. Oh gosh where do we get to party. What do we get to fuck around in. What do we get to john. What are we get to crash. It was fun. Okay now. I want to tell one row story because you know in some senses that he's laid out he's like the underdog commonly say on the show. I'm the non famous guy here blah blah blah. Yes right beside not robs the best camera guy ever. When i've seen the episodes i gotta pick it up. I'm so concentrated on beating you. I'm not competing at all with robin the comedy and the in car. They're so good be slithering by. I didn't know that. So that's very nice. The way that jethro was the big winner. This season was that he because he goes back and forth to england. And i think. In a very machiavellian way i think he knows when they're going to close it close it he had some. How right one. You and i were at mass capacity with our families he had to quarantine quote in fucking jamaica. The show sent jethro to jamaica to a beautiful resort on the water so that he could join us for work. And you're late. We were filming. We were somewhere miserable. You and you were still drinking my ties in jamaica. Well although it turned out well it started off scarely. Because i was stuck in england i could not get out for love no money. There was no way i. I was investigating every nation that was always like south korea way to sit in a government facility to week. You're doing three times the work the show is doing. I'm trying to get yourself up because you couldn't fly into the us from anywhere in the european schengen region and the uk. So i had to go somewhere else for two weeks before i could get into america. The only places open were south korea. I think by to literally live in a prison for two weeks which didn't sound healing mexico which the producers wouldn't let me do because i think my thought was beheaded or something and i was like get a new host. I'm done like they're gonna have to get rid of me. I've one loss giggles such as a saturday morning. I remember i was like i'm gonna to get fired unless i find a solution and it just popped into my head to. The caribbean was going to open quite early. This was a saturday morning. I think jamaica open for tourism the day before. And so i got onto the most like you have to go to jamaica so i left to three days later at a two weeks. Yeah it was actually amazing to me without kids was like how does.

"The editing of the show has been great so far the cuts. I've seen they really lean on your competitive relationship so great. It's in every my secret is in. I had one of the most amazing hammer stations. Because what's funny about. It is yes. I think we're both incredibly competitive. All give you the same judgment. But i love jethro. I've loved him since i met him. You auditioned i said come. Stay at our house you did like i've loved you immediately. I just love you. And i want to destroy running off a cliff and beat by four seconds. So it's kind of fun rivalry to watch. Because i don't ever really want to gloat win. And then when you lose. I actually feel terrible. And you and i had this beautiful conversation on the side a racetrack. I said i'm gonna guess that year similar to me and you've been yourself one of the top three things people like about us. Great driver the call. Everyone dates right. So in general or i lose a competition like we go back to the hotel and we don't know who we are anymore because we're supposed to be great drivers so this is so fun to see who's going back to the hotel and just redefining themselves. The human did there was a point in the season and it was pretty early on where jeff started being funnier than the two of us and we were like no no no. I started getting competitive. Wait a minute very regular. He's basically here to demonstrate that dax plus rob equals jaffre. Do by walking. You'll be the first time the show ever went down to one host. That's not true. I tell you what dax as i'm sure listeners will know because they know you intimately because i know you lay or how open on this podcast but dax leaves nothing on the table ever like is extremely impressive. Unwraps the saving for me. Because i'm not in your industry. I'm not a tv present earl. Comedian or whatever. Sec- you guys turn on is really impressive. Then dot says is next element. Which is he. "Singing in the first person but not necessarily A not very often really me. It's usually when I sing in the first person I am taking on a character role but equally majority of my songs are sung. I am telling a story I'm I am, you know characters are in the third person he or she is not I or me. So most of the time I'm illustrating through observation and that's I suppose comes from an art school background and you know music and lyrics to me are just a you know, it's like painting a photography. This is the visual arts. I'm just illustrating images in musical language. I was about to say about that. Exactly exactly what you were just saying there. It just makes me think about your art background and how actually that's really all it is, isn't it? It's another expression of a form of Art. And yeah, that was that was really interesting the the take on it birth. I mean, well, it's not it's not an accident that if you look at British pop and rock music over, you know, forty fifty sixty years many of us not all of us, but many of us are from an article Bank am very few hardly any of us went to music College. I think Elton John did but not for very long but most of us went to art college or in some cases may have studied other Allied kinds of artistic architecture, whatever it might have been but you know, most of us went to art school and you know from the Beatles And The Rolling Stones on Words, it seemed everybody went to art school. And so that that is the that is the the fertile ground that shaped such a lot of British pop and rock music Club over five six decades and I I think we're not perhaps unique in that form, but I think if you go to the USA, you don't find the same Art School influence on Thursday. Chicken pop and rock people you do to some extent in Europe, but but I think in America and perhaps in Europe, you find more people who have studied music primarily a dog stayed with it. Whereas most of us started off by studying drawing and painting or photography or whatever. It might have been and then from there found ourselves gravitating to music as a more patient a more immediate way of expressing yourself than sitting in front of a canvas waiting for it to dry. Do you think that's why you know, Jethro Tull sort of transcends various different genres from Rock folk prog. Even, you know, it's try to categorize it is it's almost wrong isn't it? Like any form of art? Can you really do that? Well, well I can is a songwriter bulb, you know Jethro Tull as a band with all the very many members and twenty six different members of Jethro Tull over the years it you know, I can't really speak for Thursday. So when it comes to musical preferences or musical styles and I'm sure that many of them most of them would be challenged by playing that repertoire and enjoy that challenge because they're musicians. They enjoy, you know, having to cope with some stuff that maybe isn't that easy to grasp but it would be reasonable for me to assume they don't all necessarily actually like wage exactly the nature of the music because it's not their thing. I mean the band today there are two of the guys they they they they do jazz, you know, one of them is really more involved in classical music and and only one of them is really what you would call her a rock musician..

I I I left and hid hid in the bushes in in order to try and escape the party and my parents really really angry when they found me that I'd dodged out of the party and and hidden, you know one could let me know the same experiences the first one when I spoke to church when I was a little boy and went to Sunday school in a group of children being taught the catechism and I found the whole thing. So terrifying and scary this notion of you know, a rather wage was only this was only the Episcopalian Church in Scotland, you know the equivalent of Anglican Church here. So, I mean it was a gentle relatively gentle religious experience by the standards of some either off. Denominations are other religions, but nonetheless, I found it kind of scary thing. I didn't I didn't feel comfortable about it. And after the first time I went I went with the other children and then took the last person in the crocodile Q of small children heading to Sunday school. And as the as the person in front of me safely went through the door into the church. I shinned up a nearby tree home and hid there for the next out until the children came out and I dropped down from the tree and joined the end of the crocodile Q on the way out to meet the parents found. So this went on for months, my parents didn't realize I wasn't going to Sunday school anymore. I was writing up a tree guy do very cold knees bless. You know, it sounds like you've you know, if it's a bit of an experience at the time for you, it's almost like well first we got the church and the religion part of it having you and then you've got all those people that you didn't want to be with. Yeah. Well, you're going to fast forward into wage. Maybe the age of Twenty-One twenty-two years old and being on tour in different countries of the world and and obviously being very much aware of the the habits of other people around me, you know, they enjoy going to bars and drinking and meeting girls or whatever they did but they kept they kept any drug-taking. Well out of my Orbit home knowing that I was very much disapproving of that and disapproving from a standpoint of not wanting to spend a night in jail because of somebody else's intransigence. Yeah them and I tended you know to want to make sure that people were not openly flaunting any drug-taking social habits..

"Rock hard rock and folk music has cropped up some thirty-odd albums and sales totaling more than fifty million after forty years at the bottom of the top and various points in between Jethro Tull is still performing internationally covid-19 is permitting. Of course, even if he in does continue to tread the solitary path now, whatever he can this is the one with Ian Anderson. Welcome to the show. That's the first thing and how are you doing about the same as I was yesterday and probably about the same age. So I will be tomorrow but you know in my age continuity is everything bless you I know exactly that feeling I have to say the first thing I'd like to probably talk about really is what you're doing now because it's very easy to go all what's happened with Jethro Tull in the past, but I'm really interested in in Anderson today what's going on in your world not a lot just mainly office wage because since the end of February of this year, we have not been able to perform in any concerts and during March we took we went off to do a tour in Finland only to be told by the government short, but an hour after we arrived in Helsinki the government decided to terminate any live performances due to the the growing covid-19. And so luckily we were able to fly back again the following day to minimize the financial losses of such a thing off. Since then one after another the hands of cards is toppled and every every concert that we tour in many different countries of the world has been postponed into 2021. We have a few more left this year, but they are also almost certain they're going to be not doable due to local restrictions due to quarantine restrictions due to travel problems because of course the cut back in airline travel and all of the issues getting from A to B mean that one way or another month. It's going to be a very quiet year for concert performances as I say just two shows in the entire year so far and not much hope of doing any but I text you the dates he's is very very full and I have personally not much confidence that during the first half of next year. There will be any concerts for the same reasons, you know wage. The so-called second wave. I personally think that in most cases the first wave never disappeared. It was just kept at Bay for a while but social habits and social behavior has inevitably driven things up in almost every country in the world. So we are seeing huge increases in infection rates and that may not be of so much concern to people in the you know, teenage and twenties category, but for the rest of us, yeah, it's potentially a matter of life and death Earth Day. Like if I get covered certainly going back to April if I if I had been infected back then I would have had about a one in four chance here in Wiltshire of of not making it may be a 50% chance. I would have been in intensive care and if I was in intensive care back, then when treatments were dead. Perhaps as developed as they are now the protocols for care then you know things weren't looking too great, I guess but you know, I I.

Justice Ordained by God (Exodus 18:2123)

"Chapter Eighteen versus twenty, one, twenty, three. Moreover, look for able men from all the people men who fear God who are trustworthy in Haiti bribe. And play such men over the people as chiefs of thousands of hundreds of fifties and tens. And let them judge the people at all times. Every great matter they shall bring to you but any small matter they shall decide themselves. So it will be easier for you and they will bear the burden with you. If you do this God will direct you. You will be able to endure, and all this people also will go to their place in peace. So these verses describe very early on in the Bible, how God set up. A structure for justice to be carried out among his people for people to be judged and all these different cases that were all coming to Moses, and through JETHRO. Moses's father in law. We see these instructions to appoint many different leaders as chiefs over thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tins to judge the people and their qualifications. Scott said look for able men from all the people who fear God. And who are trustworthy and hate a bribe. What a what a picture out of all the things that could have been listed right there. Look for leaders who fear God. And who are trust worthy? And hate a bribe who are not gonNA put. Their advantage over someone else being judged rightly. Not, GONNA seek selfish gain in that way, and if you do this God says, you will be directed by me. You'll be able to endure. This is for Moses good as leader have other leaders, and all those people also will go to their place and peace. Don't. We want that we want justice and he's To be, evident. In. Whatever country we live in? So we pray. God, we we know that this was a unique picture in the Old Testament as you set up. This structure among your people but as we read this today, particularly as followers of Jesus in the United States. As well as other countries but. The United States were going to this election God weep pray. Ask for leaders. Who Fear You. Re Ask for leaders who are trustworthy. Who Don't seek selfish gain. God, we ask for that Jerry we ask for this for our current leaders. And Our future leaders. God we we pray for leaders who are in positions of power and influence right now who know you? Who've trusted in you? And your salvation who are walking with you gotTa repay that you would shrink them and help them to lead. The fear of you. Help them to continue to be trustworthy in a way that reflects the character of Christ not to seek selfish gain. God We, pray for other leaders who don't know you right now who are not walking with you if not placed their faith in Jesus who are not followers of Jesus God, we pray that you would bring them to fear you. He are reprinted by your grace. They would be trustworthy leaders that they would not seek selfish gain but seek the good of others in good according to you. Good according to your word in your character in your wisdom. Not according to our foolishness according to what is right in our own is God. We pray for leaders like this and for Justice and peace that flows from leadership like this we is for this country God, save us from ourselves, save us from leaders who don't fear you God save us from leaders who are not trustworthy and who do seek selfish gain, God we pray for good leaders in our country. According to this picture of goodness that we see in exodus chapter eighteen. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
