More Shows To Watch If You Liked HBO's Watchmen

"We're GONNA talk about recommendations. I for the long haul and these are things that we are either current or in the way back and there's this you know the. He is like when I sit down to try find something there's so much going on that I spent like an hour being watched I don't WanNa Watch. That should do this and it's like I, just want someone tell me what to watch. That's what we're going to hear for. Yeah. So we're GONNA basis off the some of the nominees for best show in the emmy categories I start off with HBO's watchmen as from Damon Lindelof this set in an alternative universe and drafting off the ground and comic book watchmen is It's like this dazzling procedure designed to also make you think that twenty six emmy nominations, the most of any serious. Like NERF gun to your head best show of the year. What would you say? Oh, it's watchmen watchmen to me like for limited series. So it's an a different categories, but I would even say it's better than all dramas on I. Think. So it's it's crowning achievement of TV this. So for sharp for me, I'm I'm thinking of like I want a show that looks great. Visually also will make me think. So I I wanted to go directly off of Damon Lindelof because I feel like he's kind of peak of his powers right now. So guys are wondering like other stuff he's done and I I can't think about the leftovers it's a similarly. It's a great show. It's alternative universe incredibly well, made really thoughtful but also like very simplistic in terms of you applying it to your that feels like watchmen felt current but also set in a different time. And leftovers current but also sat in a different times. So I love that the weirdness of the masks in watchmen which was so precious. So yeah, it's it's. It's phenomenal the other one I was thinking of when I want to. Recommend a show in in that Washington vein I'll say Black Mirror it's close enough. It's not really narrative based. Yeah. It's vignettes and different standalone stories, but it's kind of an alternate. Reality it looks close enough to realize that you're not sure that it's not. Yeah. But it's also telling us some darkened weird stuff about yourself. And the good thing about Black Mirror is to watch it. You're not watching it in each episode is its own Y'all episode so That's will put like some of our own favorite episodes that we both have really loved that we can include in the note. So you don't have to wonder because listen that first episode it's Just you just need to skip it. Hear me if you don't hear anything else if you don't hear Jamie doing the weird change of momentum at the beginning of the show if you forgot that already that's okay. Forget it. Here me this do not watch the first episode. Mom Don't do it dad don't do it much mom don't do it nobody do. It. Would be a mistake. Okay. It's a for me. If you love watchmen where you're like, that seems like it's good. Let me tell you to other shows that are good. So on that flakes, you can watch Jessica Jones I chose this because you got strong female lead just like you have in watchman, you have a superhero component which you also have and Jessica Jones it's dark. It's Gritty the villain in Jessica Jones is played by David tennant in that first season and he is per faction it keeps you on your toes. It's also very you're very to the visuals also recommending legion. Hulu. That's weird. Right because I think when you watch watchman, you're like I'm confused. Limits where you're like I, need to watch this again. Being, existing Ip it makes you think should I know that and I can confirm I. Didn't know. And watchmen I would sometimes read like recaps after I. Would Watch an episode and that would help me catch things maybe that I didn't grab the first time with Legion stars Dan Stevens? Famous playing. Matthew on. Downton Abbey He. It's a done by Noah. All Superhero Jason because this is the story of professor x his incredibly powerful, mentally ill mutant sign and so it's it also stars Jean Smart who is also in watchmen man she's in a Lotta. Golf that she has very good taste, and so it's weird enough that you're like It's not that classic Superhero which is what I also like about watchmen if we had done if we'd time traveled and done a designing women saying draft Jean Smart would not be my. Number. One pick would be any pots it would be we'll for private. Not. It be any pods, Anthony Delta Burke Julia sugarbakers. dixie Carter lab next to last over Jean Smart. Yeah. My point here is everyone would have been before Jean Smart Jean Smart was second. I'm going to be in Sweet Home Alabama and you're not going to know what to do with the low key cares. Okay.

"Today's essay is about making friends in a really unusual place. Genie banescu writes about her relationship with a woman named anita in her essay my platonic romance on the psych psych ward. It's read by actor director. Miriam shore who stars in tv land's younger. She's also appeared in the americans. The good wife and jessica jones anita and i met five years ago as roommates at a hospital just outside of new york city according to the brochure and our patient and take folders the hospital scene at grounds boasted rolling lawns open meadows forests and a gazebo but and why would we care about landscaping. The brochure reminded me of a commercial. I had seen for hulu while watching who we didn't need an advertisement for the hospital. We were locked inside. I was twenty eight stuck in yet another manic episode in yet another psychiatric ward anita was twenty four experiencing her first anik episode. A lack of sleep had left with purple crescent under her eyes. We sat on her uncomfortable twin beds and shared stories. That would make new roommates in most situations since i'm comfortable. Anita told me that in the ambulance she had suspected she was being driven to a secret location and a team of progressive political operatives would prime her for presidential campaign. I knew the recent election was over. She said this was for future campaign. She looked down on confiding all this so i offered my own embarrassing story and once i was crossing the street and hallucinated that my eyes had fallen out by held up traffic while i patted the ground searching for my eyes and that was our introduction because in a psych ward friendships reverse engineered you start with the deep stuff off and get to the shallow stuff leader.

Michael Jordan, Keanu Reeves And Emile Hirsch discussed on Collider Movie Talk

"So apparently the matrix matrix for it is happening variety reports that loud on what caskey will write and direct a fourth matrix movie with kiana ribs and carrie ann moss reprising their roles so given all the rumors circulating about the matrix. I was surprised to hear this especially given the ending of revolution. So what do do you think about this news. Where could they possibly go with the story. Now i gotta let coin ready for this movie. It's okay in one thousand nine hundred nine twenty years ago. They foretold how ominous technology was gonna be. That movie was so prophetic and now we're living in an age where we often often don't know what's real and what's simulation whether or not you go to burning man. There's a very zatarain surreal quality to what reality is because of fakes because of technology. We've been overcome by technology technology in real life and now there is the perfect time to make the matrix four to retroactively fix the matrix two and three which could have been one very good movie rumor was i heard this this was back in the early two thousands that the animatrix and the matrix two and three it was supposed to be a trilogy but they wanted to do one before the matrix one after the matrix but because of the star wars. I don't know if this is true. Through warner brothers like no no no so they made the animatrix and then they split two and three into two movies but it should have just been one and that's why this movie's filled up loaded. I don't know if that's true but now they can fix that the matrix is more timely than ever keanu reeves is back in another hot streak carrying moscow's incredible and jessica jones. I love the idea of. I don't know why it's it's one which hausky but i love the idea of original crater coming back to a franchise that actually changed cinema. The first matrix is one question for you though so so. I think you use the word retroactively we're. We're talking a lot about ret cons lately but we were talking about something even before the show started that i think might be important to point out here when you say you know do things retroactively ret con whatnot. You're not talking about necessarily just like wiping the slate clean and saying this never happened. You're talking about adding it <unk> adding to it enhancing it. I haven't watched them in years. I've watched the first one planning but the second to there's an entire sequence if i remember correctly with the architect where there's a bunch of nieto's what easier franchise to fix than one where there's that many reality is easier. It's a movie about coding recode. The damn matrix is right there. So all you needed was the people that want it and the technology to catch up to make it different enough to make it worth making and the talent and we got all that in this announcement one of my very favorite things in this announcement is a quote and it says many of the ideas lilly and i explored twenty years ago about our reality are or even more relevant net lake more relevant now. That is the key terms phrase whatever that suggests that this franchise is worth bringing back. I could tell your super into into whatever <hes> was pitching this now well. It's just something i'm really passionate this year in general and storytelling is all the use of parallel realities alternate timelines justice that is also in any property and immediate fixture problem like it's not annoying. It's interesting it's exciting and and this is a- an ideal property to do that with you have to you we also have seen so with halloween. You can go that didn't happen and people will be okay with it. It's totally fine but by incorporating these sort of parallel words or re recoding as you said you don't have to do that you can satisfy both realities without pissing off a fair legion of fans who probably would be like what we saw that happen. It's real may chase recorded voted well. The thing is we say glitch in the matrix in everyday vernacular expression yeah a glitch in the matrix console all three and four we can actually go back and have a deja vu black cat experience and that's exciting and canneries doesn't age. It's very convenient. I that was one of the the biggest things about the story just seeing that the two of them are back but also we only get one which hausky this time which i find very interesting just curious. What do you guys make of that. I mean it is an interesting scenario that you hope is not in any way negative. The fact that lily was mentioned in the press release speaks well and the fact that they've worked together for like forty years see. We looked quite peacefully. I maybe lillies busy. Maybe she feels done with the story. You know there's a lot lot of possible reasons for that but it's it's interesting from a creative perspective if if that is solely lana on her own that i'm curious to see okay how the world might feel different when it's just one mind sort of creating this time around what's interesting to me is is that in conjunction with how many incredible creators came out of the matrix as we have like the john wick team and so many people that we now have directing their own work whether or not they come back to be like first a._d. Or any sort of second unit what the assemblage blue-chip the matrix is because we only have one which hausky instead of the pair so i'm really curious what the movie feels like and we'll be able to tell it's one of them instead of the pair of them because we've only seen them work together to my knowledge. I don't think i've ever seen a single hausky film. I think you're right. I i did like tried to double. Check really fascinating. There's always i'm <music>. I'm an apologist for a lot of their people. Don't like like i'm a big fan of what was the one about the the true through tom hanks. I liked that movie. I the credits of cloud atlas. They reveal who everybody played. Yeah i mean look. I like all of their movies yeah right up on the second for jupiter island because i love that speed racer summons emile hirsch whenever speed racer sir is trending. Emile hirsch was like yes. I'm here in tweets but like speed racer is one of those cult following. I think it came out six months too soon. The world wasn't quite ready for speed racer and the matrix four or is. I hope this is a movie that blows our minds because what they did with bullet time in ninety nine changed things. I can't wait to see what they can do. Twenty years later technology. I'm also curious are as has she says it's more relevant but also our relationship to technology has changed entirely in those decades and i'm very curious what the perspective on it is if it's still the the same. Is there any part of the movie where it's like now. We gotta plug back in the ass plugged in now. I know well. That's what's interesting is ninety nine i. I don't maybe i'm wrong but i don't think phones had internet like or if they did. It was rudimentary pretty average folks. I don't mind texting back marrow's still playing snake on nokia that point and you're doing like corey keyboard texting yeah. I was eleven so i don't remember who had i didn't have internet so what we are now. Now is such a different animal than what that movie represented them but you can watch the matrix now and it doesn't feel old yeah when you watch the matrix the first one it doesn't feel dated so i can't wait to see what they do with the world catching catching up to the reality of the already made. Maybe i'm just i'm afraid to see what they're about to foretell about the future sickly the way they did with the last one hundred forty nine the matrix man. That's a very fair concern very very. I want to know but i'm not sure if i want a fair concern that speaks to how rich this opportunity entity is because it's very exciting because we talk about you know reboot sequels franchises continuing you know twenty years after the last movie came out you name it and we're always like well you repeating something like does this just seems like a really again rich opportunity to continue a popular franchise where you're basically justifying it in the pillars of the franchise itself so i'm pumped and for me. It doesn't doesn't feel like where we have like. Indiana jones nineteen where they're like inventing a new story. The matrix said the video game the animatrix and the two sequels this rich world. They've already built up that they probably had other ideas for or and had ideas for the last twenty. Here's a here's a question from the live chat briefly from who rang who's writing. What does what does it mean for michael jordan. He was mentioned to star matrix matrix reboot. Maybe plays morpheus as son but really quickly before you guys even answer that it was making me think <hes> oddly enough off. I am more into the idea of another matrix movie with keanu coming back with a movie basically being pitched as matrix four rather than getting what we were originally talking about about you know just prequels and different offshoots as much as i like michael jordan i kind of hope that that is done and it's gone and they just move move forward as we were just discussing here. I mean i might be remembering incorrectly but i believe that had a different writer attached they did yeah sounds like a pretty the different project i have no problem whatsoever with michael jordan being in this movie because he's phenomenal and that would be great casting if they want to keep that one little nugget of that project alive. I do please yeah but it sounds that they're pretty separate at least from what the reports read like yeah to me. This is a separate property but if he's on the radar is on the radar so then it's a good thing and it's warner brothers so michael. Jordan is very much on their radar so it's a great opportunity to clarify. I'll take michael jordan anything. It's just when i first read the read the the news or a rumor at that point that that's what they were exploring. I'm like okay but then i hear something like what we're talking about right now and that's the hook. That's how you get me back in. I agree i. I don't think a reboot released spoke to me but hearing the story evolved from an original creator really speaks to the original team for the team sending

"So he regularly squares off against people like chair face or lava man or anything that you would expect from the league of superheroes. Back in the day. They weren't even trying they were just throwing out whatever name with man that they possibly can put together, and they were absolutely getting. So he fights these people all the time. And there's a few of the nine vulnerable things that the tick has done there's a character named dinosaur. Neil. Yes. This is how hard they're trying with the characters, but he's basically big powerful dinosaur character. And he had his head bitten by the monstrous jaws of dinosaur. Neil and no problem whatsoever. Not even a scratch on him at one point. He had a bomb that he was set up at the top of a building. And he's chasing after trying to return the bomb to the people who left it, and he's holding the bomb about I don't know twelve inches away from his face the bomb, which levels the top of the building goes off right in his face. Any no sells it going back to wrestling terminology. Absolutely. Just sanders. Like, oh it went off. I guess no pain. No consequence. He's also been as I said in the intro. And this just must be said he got hit so hard that he got knocked all the way up into orbit circling the planet earth. He ends up crashing down through orbits hits the earth and walks away. Just fine just fine. No problem. No threats. No, nothing. So what I would say is with Jessica Jones James is gonna talk about how powerful she is how strong she is too. She really have the ability to hit somebody with the force of falling from orbit. Does she have the ability to hit somebody with the power of building leveling bomb straits to to face? No, none of this. And even even the another example right from the start Arthur got alien technology of a full blown set to maximum power alien blaster. An I love doing this descr define tell everyone who Arthur is Arthur is the sidekick of the tick he is he looks like he's supposed to be the moth. But because he's got the little tennis sticking out of his head that people always refer to him as the bunny or the bunny man, but he is a very serious character. One who doesn't really want to be a superhero, but doesn't really have a choice because the tick won't leave his apartment in. This particular episode of the cartoon show, Arthur got overtaken, by the aliens mind controlled in his skin turned green..

"I had a feeling very cool. And the winner of the hood went debate is who never the judge or moderator decides has the best ability to incapacitate their opponent to the degree where they can safely walk away with no further threat being present. This includes completely destroying their opponent, removing them from the field of battle restraining them or knocking them out. The who would win battles are not necessarily death matches. Now, the moderate drinking disallow veto of point made by one of the debaters if they feel it goes outside the scope of the battle. Or is relevant to the fight and last month. Lease each debater must use examples of powers abilities or weapons that are part of the specific characters continuity, or at least was with that character for a good deal of time one off examples of powers or abilities that were used once and only once in the characters history, it will not be allowed. And now, let's get to the tale of the tape or both combatants. Today's tale of the tape is brought to you by who would win t-shirts except no invitation find the official who'd win shirt on Amazon by in hashtag who would win Ray, please. Give us the details on the tick the tick is a spoof of modern day. Superheroes. Created by Ben edlund. What was originally imagined by an eighteen year old edlund as a mascot for a comic bookstore in Massachusetts, eventually bloomed into a full comic series animated TV show and eventually a two-time live action series for television. The ticks main power is his nigh invulnerability while he does possess super strength. The thing that keeps his character in the game is sheer toughness and force of will. Will the ticket survive trucks being dropped on his head falling into orbit to the ground from space and even tanked in alien Reagan set to full power, while asleep, fun fact, the tick has perhaps the most bizarre origin story of all time. We first meet the tick as a fully costumed inmate of an insane asylum where he is already fully formed as a character and only upon succumbing to boredom does he crash out of the side of the asylum and leave determined to protect mankind, and that is the tick well done and here are the details for Jessica Jones. So just Jones was created by Brian Michael Bennett, and Michael Gatiss and first appeared in alias number. One back in November of two thousand one Jessica Jones, the wife of Luke cage and mother of Danielle's a private investigator detective superhero and member of the new avengers following a car accident that killed her family and spilled volatile chemicals on her. Jessica developed superpowers gave her strength speed the ability to fly and stamina well above any average person. Jessica joan. His career where she called herself a variety of different superhero name such as the nitrous jewel and power woman, and that's on top of distinguishing herself as a private investigator detective and valued member of the avengers. Jessica Jones, a fan favorite due to many reasons. One being her infamous attitude which made her threaten wolverine to his face slaps Spiderman when she felt he got a line and constantly intimidating the hell out of husband, and the legendary marvel tough guy, Luke cage. And here's an interesting fact about Jessica Jones, did you know that she went to the same high school as Peter Parker is true. Jessica Jones went to midtown high school in queens. It was the same high school Peter Parker tended after Peter Parker became Spiderman just Jones not knowing was Peter saw the web Slinger Spiderman protect the school from the evil Sandman which inspired her to use her superpowers for good. And now, you have the facts on both opponents stuff. Do you have any questions before we get started? Well, raise already starting behind. So with that kind of question that's a declared a statement, but accounts. All right. Let's do it. I guess you could say raise starting from behind. Maybe put some doubt out there stuff on my chances. Oh my gosh. All right rate. Hit us with point number one. Please point number one for the tick is nice invulnerability. The ticks main asset is his ability to take massive amounts of damage. He has been in battle after battle fighting aliens fighting the strangest assortment of characters that you would ever seen most of them have the most ridiculous names with this being a spoof of superheroes..

"The book you can find some merch there. You can find all these amazing stories that we've been working also. Yeah, we got a lot of fun stuff happening right now say, you know, I am not a fan of your moderating. Yeah. I am a fan of the creative extreme you guys are doing such amazing work over there. And also is this working? It's not no, it's not working. You know, good. Try got to give it the highest. I said I do have a question. I would like to know what is a nitrogen a nitrous that is one of the Jessica Jones, alter-ego nickname. Really have you have educated here that she is portrayed. Okay. Yeah. I have a question. So you crave extreme made three hundred sixty five characters one character per day for a whole year tire. You tell your backstory art work how they fit in within the universe. Why did you not make a character about race decanes in project? Three six five. These are the hard hitting questions at the knee Bs. Well, we did slot him in for April thirty first. Yeah. And then we realized there wasn't a April thirty first. And then we just kept going gosh. So just fell off calendar literally. Indeed, what would be his character? Would he be the Dink? The clown of creative three six six. You guys are talking about a wrestling tag teams. And I immediately thought the nasty boys and Brian Jerry sax. Yeah. So that he would be pitted me of the nasty boys. Yep. You have to sell, you know, put the unarm up and stating. Take a guy. And who would I be in project three six five in wrestling, terms, or just an overall superhero? You'd probably be who ever defeated race the gayness. Is that I say. Saying I'm the mom of raised again. That works for me. Again, a handsome woman. Well, be calling later. Now, let's get to estimates episode. But before we get started. "From the Mon broadcast center at KP. See see this is the frame, I'm John horn on today's show what the cancellation of Pearvel shows on Netflix might mean for the future of the TV business then from antiwar demonstrations to Arnold Schwarzenegger, riding horseback. Any Vits has photographed at all we walked through a new exhibit of her early work was not a good photojournaling. So I was going to have to tell more my story from my point of view and left journalism behind eventually turned to portraiture because it was a way of having real licensed to do what you wanted in a photograph and the country swing band asleep at the wheel is still rolling along fifty years after its founding all that coming up on the frame. With so many new players jumping into the streaming game including Disney, apple and Warner media. Twenty nineteen is likely to bring some big changes to the TV business. We called up Daniel Feinberg a TV critic for the Hollywood reporter to talk about what the future could look like to TV viewers. He's just finished covering two weeks of presentations from broadcast networks cable channels and streaming services at the television critics association meetings. We started with the news from earlier this week that net flicks. His canceling Jessica Jones and the punisher to marvel shows which not coincidentally are also Disney properties. There is no question that we are on the brink of some sort of key transition point. And regardless of what you choose to call it, whether you want to call it these streaming wars or the road to new cable, or whatever you wanted describe it as there are things that are changing that are going to dramatically reshape what the media landscape look. In five years in the same way that five years ago, it looked completely different. And I think that there's no question that the cancellation of the marvel shows on Netflix is a. Assign a gesture in a certain direction because these were very high profile shows for Netflix when they premiered and they were part of a big programming strategy. And now, suddenly all of the marvel properties are really part of aid Disney, plus or a Disney marvel streaming strategy, and so they don't fit with Netflix anymore. And I think that you're gonna see something with the tug of war over something like friends, I think that we are only at the beginning of what is going to be probably the biggest story in where television is going in the next year and a half probably. And that is basically that the people who create those shows used to see companies like Netflix as a source of ancillary revenue and now they see streaming services as direct competitors. So they're trying to pull their content back at their launching their own streaming services. Is that the bigger picture here? I think that is definitely the bigger picture. And all of the things that the Netflix and Hulu have kind of taken for granted as the foundation of their. Business model, you know, the for whatever we want to say about the apparently twelve billion dollars that Netflix last year poured into original programming acquired content is still a major portion of what people actually stream on Netflix. Whether it's whether it's friends, whether it's the office, whether it's all of the CW shows, and that's great for Netflix because it allows net flicks to have that kind of foundation, but it, but it's also a business that the people who actually own those programs want to be in. And so is Netflix original programming is it enough if suddenly the studio start taking away all of their prestige programs. Yeah. I don't know. Let's talk about a couple of new programs one that's on Netflix. It's called Russian doll and one on Hulu called Penn. Fifteen. These are shows that seem to be getting a lot of attention. Are they worth checking out? And how are they doing so far? I think they're absolutely were checking out, and I think we had absolutely no idea how either one of them is doing. Let's look says not put out a press release boasting that forty million people in some form or another have watched Russian doll. So I don't know all I know is that it's a really good show. It's a really smart show. It's a show that plays around with with format and with tone, and with style in very impressive ways. So Russian dolls. Definitely we're checking out, and I think Penn fifteen on Hulu is is a lot of fun to gimmick is the two co creators are basically playing junior high versions of themselves. Devil dis her last night at camp. How was even possible? I don't know what happened in the middle of her sleep. That's so unfair that happens to me surrounded by actual preteen and teen actors, and it's it's a really good show about the awkwardness of being a teenager. That's maybe aimed at older viewers who survived those years. I wanna talk about a couple of other shows that might be worth talking about FOX has a series called proven innocent pop has a series called flack and DC universe has a series called doom patrol or any of those shows are other things that you've seen jumping out in terms of midseason or early start shows that are coming out either. Now, or very soon one of the shows that if you've watched any BC in the past couple of weeks, and you're going to see as we move towards the Oscars this weekend that is getting a lot of buzz for ABC as whiskey cavalier whiskey cavalier. One of our best agents. I intelligence proven to be a huge asset to the bureau. You and your fiance recently parted ways. Yes, we did mutual most commercial, but I'm totally fine with it. We have the footage. How? It's a show that I would say succeeds at its goals, and that's something that I wouldn't necessarily say about say proven innocent, which is a very very run of the mill entirely forgettable legal procedural at the very least whiskey cavalier is pretty people Scott fully and learn Cohen or the stars are attractive and fun. And they're having a good time. It was shot in Europe. And it makes actual good use of European locations. It's got all of the depth of a very very shallow puddle. But on the other hand, it's fun. And it's the same with with DC universe is doomed patrol, which is kind of quirky kind of odd and of vast improvement over DC universe's, I live action show which was titans, which was all gloomy and glum and unpleasant. So there's something to be said for improvement one of the other things that happens at the as is that critics get sneak peeks, maybe it's some footage. Maybe it's a pilot of a show. That's not going to be on for a couple of months. Is there anything that you and your colleagues? Saw that might not be coming out immediately. But that you're really interested in seeing what more there is the series. Well, I definitely can't review. The one episode I've seen of FX Fosse Verdon, but I can tell you that that show which starts Sam Rockwell, and Michelle Williams is definitely going to be worth one that I'm looking forward to checking out. It's the story of Bob Fosse, Gwen Verdon. And so there's a lot of fifty sixty seventies cinematic, and Broadway and musical references and dancing and choreography. And I'm not gonna say anything more than I'm looking forward to seeing more episodes. Daniel Feinberg is a TV critic for the Hollywood reporter. He is also the president of the television critics association Daniel, thanks for your time and your insight. Thank you for having me. Coming up on the frame, any leave of its walks through an exhibit of her early work.

But I I am curious to see how people would react to some of the things we mentioned I would be curious to see what you think about Cold War and the answer to bother you a move that you probably had. One in two fuck. Come by the house, man, you know, some movies, I'll be willing to watch again Gertz came over the night. And we watched a good time again. Oh, yeah. Yeah. That's one of those love that movie man left. Mass off heart of the second time. Same here. Because I got to see all the nuances stupidity missed before your this. Good time. Now, you would you would like that. Yeah. Yeah. Awesome. Especially with the soundtrack score. They had a DJ. I forgot his name. But he does the score that you probably already know. I wanna essentially here. I want to do this real quick nothing while it's been a whole lot of time on out of here. But perfect to have you here. Yeah. Now that can time in on something else another. We educated you educate us. Okay. You TV guy. I am. What are these people? Crying about these marvel. Netflix shows going away they've been telling us for the longest time just today like they tell you look daredevil gone. Know snap. Should've implied something a long time ago if they took a dare devil own his best season. Book about anybody else. Luke cage when people were like ready to see Luke the further adventures. To Jessica Jones, get her the punishment. He he late in the game. They let you know you plus you crazy anyway, we don't have stood on how you fit in the things that gone. Why are people crying today? Like this like like, they didn't see this coming people. Really? I read a article was short article or read about. Really do. Of course, they were going to do this. They've been the writing has been on the wall. The business plan has been there. And y'all acting like this like like, they will bluffing ain't going. They just play. Angle Netflixing, let their shit go. Did it is negotiating his contract. Yeah. Yeah. They said Netflixing, Linda shit, go on laying thing losing, Disney bucks. Netflix said, look, this is a moving part. Let's you know, that Netflix own together. Fuck about Netflix. You know, Disney at some point gonna try to hold these heroes overhead as best. We cut ties right now at Disney, plus. That meant that Disney had the I guess they had the bargaining power there with these Netflix shows which going gonna keep take them away. Anyway, religious save Netflix still want us to keep them because they poplar. That's a whole. That's probably hold around money. Right. Licensing licensing. And I doubt that would have happened. But Netflix just said, you know, what man you do you do. We don't do us. Netflix. Netflix. Netflix content is number one we produce own shit. Now. Man, we the Oscars, you know, this here we about to get that trophy. We worried about these those we even we even got the real heroes. We got those street as here. History tree heroes, man. Not really heroes treaty roles. Like when you get a taco, they got real tight street tacos that they still from a cart. You know what I'm saying? So there's a few things I talked about on my show last Saturday, the first being that they said Kulu is actually open to reviving these shows if there's a demand for right because a lot of people were clamoring about daredevil season three maybe what happens for that. Although I think it ended pretty nicely. Hulu saying listen is not gonna happen now. But we're open to it in playing with these people like that. I know because you gotta let him down easy because the moment they mentioned like, well who lose open rooms already. Oh, should you hear they're going to go to Hulu? Hulu, Luke cage. Man, he ain't. You go into that. Who Lou he's like, nah. Even if that happens. It'll be a long time. That'll be a long time before the happens..

Netflix completes its breakup with Marvel, cancels The Punisher, Jessica Jones

"Pretty much completed the marvel exodus from net flicks. Like all of their as of this morning. Yeah. Jessica Jones punisher of being quote, unquote, cancelled for Netflix. But essentially, we're going to be in all at moving Disney Pluess. Well, weirdly this morning, the punisher was officially cancelled. But everyone kind of knew that Jessica Jones was always the most critically acclaimed at the show's third season is shot. As yet to air. Netflix statement was basically like thanks to everyone for making these shows that will live on forever on networks. So. I don't know. I mean, the characters are not done. Sure. But it could well be that this these interruptions of the characters tasks, and this kind of the Andy, and I were talking about a week or so ago about what kind of stuff is going to be undesired police were still doing it. I I think we have to commit to the bit at this point. I should gotten tweets from people. Like, I I will I will not be referring to this thing is Disney classier, they're they're gonna Bob I is going to personally, send us a personal. Thank you note in French. Does it come with a lot of zeroes? That's what you're I do assess then Netflix moral shows were gritty that was their whole kind of the pitch was like this takes place in a gritty, violent people curse people have sex people drink people, you know, when people get shot at bleed closer to our reality. Sure. Yeah. And you know stars. Yeah. I'm sorry mistake that maybe more like high another young people, right? But the Disney plus idea do they didn't he plus ideal is supposed to be a little more family friendly friendly. I think so I think that's more in the Disney brand think probably the hardest would get would be a a sort of soft PG thirteen at I think it's just an interest. We'll turn back Brel academy. But it's just to say that like, let's look at the results. Let's go to the tape. And let's look at the superhero movies that have succeeded in the last few years critically and commercially and what they have in common. And if you pluck out Thor ragnarok, Spiderman movie wonder woman, dead pool, an aquaman, there is a willingness and obviously in to different degrees between those projects to embrace the core absurdity of the project right to calm either to comment on it. You know in sort of a meta explicit way like deadpool or to run, right? Towards the fact that this is a movie about a talking fish man, which I haven't seen. But from what I gather when I heard that Julie Andrews was voicing internal like ocean beast. Maybe whether meant to be whether it was intended to be funny or not. Yeah. I was embraced and Wonderwoman. Embrace the kitschy optimism of it which which kept in America, the first venture did as well as a period piece, and I really appreciate that. And so despite the there's some there's some residual conservative knee jerk thinking here that would people the only way to make America by comic book properties is if they are grim and gritty that's just not the case anymore. This is a generation was grown up on this stuff and understands that that a comic book story can be high or low or light or dark like any story. Yes. And so I'm pretty into the surrealism of the umbrella academy if anything I

‘Daredevil’ Canceled By Netflix After 3 Seasons; Future In Other Marvel Projects

"Netflix has cancelled daredevil. This is something that we didn't expect Chris. What do we know? Yes. Netflix has been slowly pulling the plug on their moral shows. Luke cage iron fist was canceled. I had Luke cage and now daredevil has been cancelled after three seasons leaving only Jessica Jones and the punisher as the. Only two remaining shows that belong to marvel and Netflix right now. In the statement. They said they that there are possible future projects for the character. And that can mean anything that could be, you know, net flicks in Jessica Jones or punisher or it could need Disney. Plus, but as for now, the daredevil series itself that appeared on Netflix is over and done

"Or those characters going in. I just don't. So these shows to really good job of, you know, introduced these characters showing them. Many of these characters were flawed, which I think was good thing to see. Imperfect heroes, you know, which we hadn't seen a whole lot of it. We kind of had the MC you had shown us some of that, but these were characters that you know just weren't perfect. They had their flies. They had their issues. They had their problems. They had checkered difficult pass sometimes. But through that all they tried to find a way to, you know, to be a hero for their city and the people around them, and I really enjoyed that. So you know, like daredevil did an amazing job and they also took their time to just, you know, build the origins or the starting points of these characters. Right? They didn't rush it. Didn't rush. You know, it's just like, you know, just Jones now right to the action. No, they didn't do that. Daredevil definitely didn't do that. We didn't even see his conic suit until the very end of season one just the way it was, you know, and Luke cage. Same thing, you know, like we, we didn't get to see. Like, you know, we saw him show up a little bit and Jessica Jones, I think, came out before Luke cage season one, but you know, we got to see that there so we already got to see. And that's another thing the shows have done. They've kind of like, you know, start to ties in these characters together. They've shown up on some of each other shows, which I think has been a great idea. It's worked out really well. And like I said, I've gotten to watch some of daredevil season three so far. I haven't watched all of it, but I like what I saw so far and Jessica Jones. Even though season two had a few flies, it was still a good show. It was an enjoyable show. It was a show I enjoyed watching. So, yeah. And like I said, even an even punisher, which punisher originally came in for the. Those that don't know on daredevil season to, you know, John Byrne all came in. And again, we had gotten not one, but two punisher movies, and I had a chance to watch both of them recently. And I have to say, I, I forgot how bad the first one was, and it's sad because the first one is star studded in this big film and had a lot of potential. But it was really, really bad. And then I gotta see punisher war zone, which I thought was this video.

"Netflix will not be picking up the option for season three of iron fist, but you will still see Danny rand crossover in some of the others and actually a defenders to is not off the table. So we will see Danny ran and possibly Jessica Jones. Another defenders. Probably Luke cage. They work so well together, and maybe we'll get a heroes for hire spin off, but there will be no more immortal iron fist solo series. I'm the. Protect your line. Yes. Danny, we know who you are. The aero verse has huge crossovers every fall. This fall, no, no different. We are going to be introduced to the city of Gotham and a new character to the aero verse bat woman, they cast ruby rose to be bat woman, and they've shown some costume pictures of her and looks like they took them straight out of the comic book. This is right off the pages of DC. Ruby rose has the look. She has the acting chops the arrow verse. All those shows are crazy popular. I'm loving that they're expanding, especially with Gotham going away. CW is expanding their CW superhero universe, so might not be long before we start seeing some more of these guys in their own series. DND players. If you remember a while back, they added a new class. Old spice came up with the gentlem-. In class based off of their commercial character? Well, not to be outdone. They've made another new class. Not old spice is just made up by the fans called the murder Hobo class. If you've ever played DND, you know, the murder hobos are the players who just want to maim kill rape, torture for no reason whatsoever. Just do it in cause chaos. They have made their own class with class defining rules. Now you can actually download this from DM guild, which is it's probably not going to be considered canon for DND, but being on DM guild is probably the next best thing. If you're DM is allowing it, you might try this murder Hobo class. If that's not for you, get the old spice gentlemen class there I've played the gentlemen class. It's pretty cool. You should try it out, murder Hobo class, not into that type of character. A lot of people are, but, hey. Now you've got rules for it by now. You've heard that Disney has fired James Gunn the guy who wrote and directed the guardians of the galaxy hugely popular movies. He was fired over some tweets. He made ten years ago or so. They were made in jest, but they were taken, I guess, by Disney's seriously. They didn't like the content a lot of dark humor that they didn't think was funny. So they've, they fired him well, as soon as they did that, all the other companies were lined up at his door knocking and the one he answered for was DC. The DC universe is going to have James Gunn attached to the new suicide squad to movie. He's already proven. He can write group movies with guardians of the galaxy in just do a killer job. It hasn't been decided if he's going to direct suicide squad to yet. But just the fact that he's writing it is it's mind blowing. We're going to see probably the best suicide squad incarnation. You could think of Batiste day Batista's already said that he wants to come over. If James Gunn is directing it and play a character. I just I can't wait for this to see a movie be as popular or some of the marvel movies would be great. I would love to see James Gunn grab this and run with it and just do a whole series of DC movies. So congratulations, James Gunn. Congratulations. DC marvel. I hope the guy you've replacing with does just as well. Let's finish this up with some Star Wars. Let's start with the mandatory and show by John Fabbro. If he don't know already, the Disney play channel is picked up a big budget, Star Wars series that they're letting Jon Favreau writing direct. Jon Favreau has done an excellent job with all the other stuff. He's worked on from iron man, two zero through gemology all the way up to jungle book the live action one. Handing him the reins of this in him picking a character or a classic character. So I contacted MandA Laurean can't wait man in case you didn't know Django fit Boba fett are the main delorean's you're probably more familiar with or maybe some the ones from the clone war series.

"Fifteen w wgam actress christon reuters made her mark in hollywood with shows like gilmore girls veronica margin breaking bad and she's now playing a superhero in private investigator in marvels jessica jones are net flicks she spoke with the hosts of cbs this morning so let's talk about the end of last season because you end up killing your tormentor yeah killing him in a very violent way yeah right to its ice yuccas knack has a last resort as of last resort and added that fuel to you because he had been tormenting you all season and now you're coming into the new season but talk about what that was like for you to finally say okay i got you it was really it was really exciting it was exciting moment for the character was he was triumph event it was her being strong i remember when i got the episode scripts when that happened i cheered because it it it needed to happen um it was really a difficult journey for jessica to get to that point she doesn't want to be a murderer yeah but that was really the only option for her but now she dealing with the aftermath of that yeah wondering if you if you have conflict about the powers that you have jessica has a lot of contempt for the powers that she has she is a girl that is marked by by trauma she she struggles she has ptsd she drinks too much she hardly hardly gets by and the fact that she has.

"And you made a really good point which is that of all the marvel shows jessica jones is the one that could be best suited to something like that because she's a private detective you know you could give her a case halford do a thing i mean daredevil i guess you could give him like a legal case to deal with yup but at dozen i dunno it doesn't really it doesn't feel like we've seen so little of him actually being the lawyer that you almost for it almost feels like he's a superhero by day who moonlights as a lawyer ivanov that yara iron fist i don't know what in the world he does with his day when he's not like being a doofus of telling people he's the immortal ironfist she hip runs a company bryant kind of kind your watch in i forget exactly when she turns up did you get up to the introduction of janet mcteer yeah all right so here's gerald great character actress janet mcteer popping up as sort of this mystery woman who is involved in the secret origin of jessica jones at abu at least for now she appears like she is the replacement kill grave the new big bad how did you feel about her in what little you got to say on i thought it was interesting i think it was like it took him a little while to introduce already kinda there was a little bit mr in going on back and forth about how it would do i would need to know more to see how i feel about it she is like the big bad for the season how that works and how that interacts i did find myself a little more interested in the origins store.

"Um which brings us too marvels the defenders which debuted a couple of weeks ago on networks i have been waiting for the show since they announced the net flicks lineup many many years ago they announced since they announced daredevil a little bit later they they announced that they would be doing shows for jessica jones who nobody knew about but me as under light a few of us of you a few a few of you guys but let me that the book the public at large i heard of this daredevil guy because of been athlete but what is it jessica jones and yzf a regular name anna luke cage and an iron fist and then after that they said at some point we're gonna team all up and we're going to do the defenders allows us absolutely and i was i was here for it and it's it's kind of been long build uh in the marvel tradition they don't just throw you right into the fire nope they said we're going to spend some time with some character development because that is what's necessary and see had two seasons of daredevil one jessica jones one luke cage and the one iron fist and the prevailing under current in all these series was that there was a criminal element called the hand that was no pun intended extending its hands into the underworld of new york um so it would only make sense it at some point these characters who didn't have a lot of crossover with each other except for luke cage and jessica jones with somehow be brought together by this common threat uh which brings us to.
