How Green Is Your Favorite Superhero?
"You're out there saving humanity from super villains does it matter. How many pounds of carbon you used to do it. Gotham city would have been obliterated one hundred times over if batman weren't constantly. Bailing it out of trouble but that batmobile sure is a gas guzzler not to mention the bat wing airplane and the electricity bill for the bat cave is probably astronomical so is all that. Do gooding really doing good. After all some researchers from stanford university presented a poster at the american geophysical union's twenty seventeen fall meeting entitled stop saving the planet carbon accounting of superheroes and their impacts on climate. Change the point of the project was to bring awareness to the fact that everybody on this planet has a carbon footprint which is a calculation of how much carbon each of us in our daily activities such as driving eating and heating and cooling our houses the average americans carbon footprint is around forty four thousand pounds that's about twenty thousand kilograms of carbon per year an average person in the united arab emirates uses a good bit more and average peruvian uses considerably less. But what about your average superhero. According to the study they're all over. The map takes superman. According to the comics the man of steel is entirely solar powered which nets him. Fut print of zero. bless him. jessica jones probably comes in slightly below. The average americans carbon used thanks to her small brooklyn apartment and reliance on public transportation and swamp thing. What with his power to make plants grow might actually have a negative carbon footprint. That's not the case for every good samaritan in a cape however the oracle erstwhile bat girl turned computer. Hacker might weigh in at a conservative estimate of one hundred and fifty one thousand pounds or sixty eight thousand kilograms but the figure might be as high as thirty two million pounds or a hundred and forty five million kilograms depending on how many servers she's running even ironman who makes a concerted effort to employ green energy. Sources would come in higher than the average american because of the sheer amount of tech that he uses and the flash who can run near the speed of light might require an insane number of calories to accomplish this feat possibly as much as eighty nine million pounds or forty five million kilograms worth of carbon but isn't a kind of a silly question for serious scientists to spend their time exploring poster co author miles traer a postdoctoral researcher at stanford tokyo's if i calculate my own carbon footprint that's depressing if i calculate batmans carbon footprint. That's hilarious so let's go with the hilarious. It's a way of tricking people into learning.
More Shows To Watch If You Liked HBO's Watchmen
"We're GONNA talk about recommendations. I for the long haul and these are things that we are either current or in the way back and there's this you know the. He is like when I sit down to try find something there's so much going on that I spent like an hour being watched I don't WanNa Watch. That should do this and it's like I, just want someone tell me what to watch. That's what we're going to hear for. Yeah. So we're GONNA basis off the some of the nominees for best show in the emmy categories I start off with HBO's watchmen as from Damon Lindelof this set in an alternative universe and drafting off the ground and comic book watchmen is It's like this dazzling procedure designed to also make you think that twenty six emmy nominations, the most of any serious. Like NERF gun to your head best show of the year. What would you say? Oh, it's watchmen watchmen to me like for limited series. So it's an a different categories, but I would even say it's better than all dramas on I. Think. So it's it's crowning achievement of TV this. So for sharp for me, I'm I'm thinking of like I want a show that looks great. Visually also will make me think. So I I wanted to go directly off of Damon Lindelof because I feel like he's kind of peak of his powers right now. So guys are wondering like other stuff he's done and I I can't think about the leftovers it's a similarly. It's a great show. It's alternative universe incredibly well, made really thoughtful but also like very simplistic in terms of you applying it to your that feels like watchmen felt current but also set in a different time. And leftovers current but also sat in a different times. So I love that the weirdness of the masks in watchmen which was so precious. So yeah, it's it's. It's phenomenal the other one I was thinking of when I want to. Recommend a show in in that Washington vein I'll say Black Mirror it's close enough. It's not really narrative based. Yeah. It's vignettes and different standalone stories, but it's kind of an alternate. Reality it looks close enough to realize that you're not sure that it's not. Yeah. But it's also telling us some darkened weird stuff about yourself. And the good thing about Black Mirror is to watch it. You're not watching it in each episode is its own Y'all episode so That's will put like some of our own favorite episodes that we both have really loved that we can include in the note. So you don't have to wonder because listen that first episode it's Just you just need to skip it. Hear me if you don't hear anything else if you don't hear Jamie doing the weird change of momentum at the beginning of the show if you forgot that already that's okay. Forget it. Here me this do not watch the first episode. Mom Don't do it dad don't do it much mom don't do it nobody do. It. Would be a mistake. Okay. It's a for me. If you love watchmen where you're like, that seems like it's good. Let me tell you to other shows that are good. So on that flakes, you can watch Jessica Jones I chose this because you got strong female lead just like you have in watchman, you have a superhero component which you also have and Jessica Jones it's dark. It's Gritty the villain in Jessica Jones is played by David tennant in that first season and he is per faction it keeps you on your toes. It's also very you're very to the visuals also recommending legion. Hulu. That's weird. Right because I think when you watch watchman, you're like I'm confused. Limits where you're like I, need to watch this again. Being, existing Ip it makes you think should I know that and I can confirm I. Didn't know. And watchmen I would sometimes read like recaps after I. Would Watch an episode and that would help me catch things maybe that I didn't grab the first time with Legion stars Dan Stevens? Famous playing. Matthew on. Downton Abbey He. It's a done by Noah. All Superhero Jason because this is the story of professor x his incredibly powerful, mentally ill mutant sign and so it's it also stars Jean Smart who is also in watchmen man she's in a Lotta. Golf that she has very good taste, and so it's weird enough that you're like It's not that classic Superhero which is what I also like about watchmen if we had done if we'd time traveled and done a designing women saying draft Jean Smart would not be my. Number. One pick would be any pots it would be we'll for private. Not. It be any pods, Anthony Delta Burke Julia sugarbakers. dixie Carter lab next to last over Jean Smart. Yeah. My point here is everyone would have been before Jean Smart Jean Smart was second. I'm going to be in Sweet Home Alabama and you're not going to know what to do with the low key cares. Okay.

My Platonic Romance on the Psych Ward
"Today's essay is about making friends in a really unusual place. Genie banescu writes about her relationship with a woman named anita in her essay my platonic romance on the psych psych ward. It's read by actor director. Miriam shore who stars in tv land's younger. She's also appeared in the americans. The good wife and jessica jones anita and i met five years ago as roommates at a hospital just outside of new york city according to the brochure and our patient and take folders the hospital scene at grounds boasted rolling lawns open meadows forests and a gazebo but and why would we care about landscaping. The brochure reminded me of a commercial. I had seen for hulu while watching who we didn't need an advertisement for the hospital. We were locked inside. I was twenty eight stuck in yet another manic episode in yet another psychiatric ward anita was twenty four experiencing her first anik episode. A lack of sleep had left with purple crescent under her eyes. We sat on her uncomfortable twin beds and shared stories. That would make new roommates in most situations since i'm comfortable. Anita told me that in the ambulance she had suspected she was being driven to a secret location and a team of progressive political operatives would prime her for presidential campaign. I knew the recent election was over. She said this was for future campaign. She looked down on confiding all this so i offered my own embarrassing story and once i was crossing the street and hallucinated that my eyes had fallen out by held up traffic while i patted the ground searching for my eyes and that was our introduction because in a psych ward friendships reverse engineered you start with the deep stuff off and get to the shallow stuff leader.
Michael Jordan, Keanu Reeves And Emile Hirsch discussed on Collider Movie Talk
"So apparently the matrix matrix for it is happening variety reports that loud on what caskey will write and direct a fourth matrix movie with kiana ribs and carrie ann moss reprising their roles so given all the rumors circulating about the matrix. I was surprised to hear this especially given the ending of revolution. So what do do you think about this news. Where could they possibly go with the story. Now i gotta let coin ready for this movie. It's okay in one thousand nine hundred nine twenty years ago. They foretold how ominous technology was gonna be. That movie was so prophetic and now we're living in an age where we often often don't know what's real and what's simulation whether or not you go to burning man. There's a very zatarain surreal quality to what reality is because of fakes because of technology. We've been overcome by technology technology in real life and now there is the perfect time to make the matrix four to retroactively fix the matrix two and three which could have been one very good movie rumor was i heard this this was back in the early two thousands that the animatrix and the matrix two and three it was supposed to be a trilogy but they wanted to do one before the matrix one after the matrix but because of the star wars. I don't know if this is true. Through warner brothers like no no no so they made the animatrix and then they split two and three into two movies but it should have just been one and that's why this movie's filled up loaded. I don't know if that's true but now they can fix that the matrix is more timely than ever keanu reeves is back in another hot streak carrying moscow's incredible and jessica jones. I love the idea of. I don't know why it's it's one which hausky but i love the idea of original crater coming back to a franchise that actually changed cinema. The first matrix is one question for you though so so. I think you use the word retroactively we're. We're talking a lot about ret cons lately but we were talking about something even before the show started that i think might be important to point out here when you say you know do things retroactively ret con whatnot. You're not talking about necessarily just like wiping the slate clean and saying this never happened. You're talking about adding it <unk> adding to it enhancing it. I haven't watched them in years. I've watched the first one planning but the second to there's an entire sequence if i remember correctly with the architect where there's a bunch of nieto's what easier franchise to fix than one where there's that many reality is easier. It's a movie about coding recode. The damn matrix is right there. So all you needed was the people that want it and the technology to catch up to make it different enough to make it worth making and the talent and we got all that in this announcement one of my very favorite things in this announcement is a quote and it says many of the ideas lilly and i explored twenty years ago about our reality are or even more relevant net lake more relevant now. That is the key terms phrase whatever that suggests that this franchise is worth bringing back. I could tell your super into into whatever <hes> was pitching this now well. It's just something i'm really passionate this year in general and storytelling is all the use of parallel realities alternate timelines justice that is also in any property and immediate fixture problem like it's not annoying. It's interesting it's exciting and and this is a- an ideal property to do that with you have to you we also have seen so with halloween. You can go that didn't happen and people will be okay with it. It's totally fine but by incorporating these sort of parallel words or re recoding as you said you don't have to do that you can satisfy both realities without pissing off a fair legion of fans who probably would be like what we saw that happen. It's real may chase recorded voted well. The thing is we say glitch in the matrix in everyday vernacular expression yeah a glitch in the matrix console all three and four we can actually go back and have a deja vu black cat experience and that's exciting and canneries doesn't age. It's very convenient. I that was one of the the biggest things about the story just seeing that the two of them are back but also we only get one which hausky this time which i find very interesting just curious. What do you guys make of that. I mean it is an interesting scenario that you hope is not in any way negative. The fact that lily was mentioned in the press release speaks well and the fact that they've worked together for like forty years see. We looked quite peacefully. I maybe lillies busy. Maybe she feels done with the story. You know there's a lot lot of possible reasons for that but it's it's interesting from a creative perspective if if that is solely lana on her own that i'm curious to see okay how the world might feel different when it's just one mind sort of creating this time around what's interesting to me is is that in conjunction with how many incredible creators came out of the matrix as we have like the john wick team and so many people that we now have directing their own work whether or not they come back to be like first a._d. Or any sort of second unit what the assemblage blue-chip the matrix is because we only have one which hausky instead of the pair so i'm really curious what the movie feels like and we'll be able to tell it's one of them instead of the pair of them because we've only seen them work together to my knowledge. I don't think i've ever seen a single hausky film. I think you're right. I i did like tried to double. Check really fascinating. There's always i'm <music>. I'm an apologist for a lot of their people. Don't like like i'm a big fan of what was the one about the the true through tom hanks. I liked that movie. I the credits of cloud atlas. They reveal who everybody played. Yeah i mean look. I like all of their movies yeah right up on the second for jupiter island because i love that speed racer summons emile hirsch whenever speed racer sir is trending. Emile hirsch was like yes. I'm here in tweets but like speed racer is one of those cult following. I think it came out six months too soon. The world wasn't quite ready for speed racer and the matrix four or is. I hope this is a movie that blows our minds because what they did with bullet time in ninety nine changed things. I can't wait to see what they can do. Twenty years later technology. I'm also curious are as has she says it's more relevant but also our relationship to technology has changed entirely in those decades and i'm very curious what the perspective on it is if it's still the the same. Is there any part of the movie where it's like now. We gotta plug back in the ass plugged in now. I know well. That's what's interesting is ninety nine i. I don't maybe i'm wrong but i don't think phones had internet like or if they did. It was rudimentary pretty average folks. I don't mind texting back marrow's still playing snake on nokia that point and you're doing like corey keyboard texting yeah. I was eleven so i don't remember who had i didn't have internet so what we are now. Now is such a different animal than what that movie represented them but you can watch the matrix now and it doesn't feel old yeah when you watch the matrix the first one it doesn't feel dated so i can't wait to see what they do with the world catching catching up to the reality of the already made. Maybe i'm just i'm afraid to see what they're about to foretell about the future sickly the way they did with the last one hundred forty nine the matrix man. That's a very fair concern very very. I want to know but i'm not sure if i want a fair concern that speaks to how rich this opportunity entity is because it's very exciting because we talk about you know reboot sequels franchises continuing you know twenty years after the last movie came out you name it and we're always like well you repeating something like does this just seems like a really again rich opportunity to continue a popular franchise where you're basically justifying it in the pillars of the franchise itself so i'm pumped and for me. It doesn't doesn't feel like where we have like. Indiana jones nineteen where they're like inventing a new story. The matrix said the video game the animatrix and the two sequels this rich world. They've already built up that they probably had other ideas for or and had ideas for the last twenty. Here's a here's a question from the live chat briefly from who rang who's writing. What does what does it mean for michael jordan. He was mentioned to star matrix matrix reboot. Maybe plays morpheus as son but really quickly before you guys even answer that it was making me think <hes> oddly enough off. I am more into the idea of another matrix movie with keanu coming back with a movie basically being pitched as matrix four rather than getting what we were originally talking about about you know just prequels and different offshoots as much as i like michael jordan i kind of hope that that is done and it's gone and they just move move forward as we were just discussing here. I mean i might be remembering incorrectly but i believe that had a different writer attached they did yeah sounds like a pretty the different project i have no problem whatsoever with michael jordan being in this movie because he's phenomenal and that would be great casting if they want to keep that one little nugget of that project alive. I do please yeah but it sounds that they're pretty separate at least from what the reports read like yeah to me. This is a separate property but if he's on the radar is on the radar so then it's a good thing and it's warner brothers so michael. Jordan is very much on their radar so it's a great opportunity to clarify. I'll take michael jordan anything. It's just when i first read the read the the news or a rumor at that point that that's what they were exploring. I'm like okay but then i hear something like what we're talking about right now and that's the hook. That's how you get me back in. I agree i. I don't think a reboot released spoke to me but hearing the story evolved from an original creator really speaks to the original team for the team sending

"We're back Reback here northern Carolina North Carolina. Where are we? Anyway, I have no idea where we are. Up on the Mike. We are right in kind of the northwest corner of the state of North Carolina. We're about ten miles from the Virginia border and not much further to the Tennessee border, where right in a corner. There. What's the biggest town closest to hear I suppose Elkin? I haven't heard okay. So what's you drove through it coming up here? Anything to me? That's one thing recalls are later in what he was expecting. Hey, man. I thought you'd be where you guys at on highway where in the highway I dunno GPS blue line. That's what I'm on the blue line in the highway. So we till next at night. Okay. It says exit or whatever. Because I'm like, I don't I'm I use GPS that just go, where the guy just run off the cliff into the river, wherever tells me to go, you know, you're gonna be there. Right. And, and it's been the rule areas been pretty close. I mean, sometimes you got it. I gotta look around a little bit. But it's have you ever used GPS or smartphones or anything wholly different now, there, they knew exactly where you are. They know what you're doing. They know. I'd seen it being used. But I've never used it. I mean it's all that scary crap. We're going some day. Well, let's year. Some of the shows that you're watching Netflix. Let me your superheroes. Was her name. Jessica James, or Jessica Jones Jones, Jessica Jones iron fist and nNcholas cage and daredevil net, kind of stuff. So you're getting a dose of marvel and some other kind of what's that kind of fantasy superhero stuff if I give you some good list of those that don't piss you off. That'd be cool. Probably. I watch some movies. I watched some other series that are completely different from the marvel stuff. There's thing there's one. Hell no. I think you would dig it Dhabi Barker ni-. We work on the pirates that borders dot com a lot. We went all pirate, you know, to make pirate stuff you're doing so we'd watch all these series. There's one called black sales, and it's about piracy when the pirates it's really just against all flags. Libertarians out bite me. They, they stole that gold out the Spanish galleon that we stole from the Incas. That's not fair. I mean I kind of thing. So, so you have all these the history of the pirates and mine's like John Hancock in the smuggling attitude, we're not bringing the caste system to new world, and so it has a lot of, you know, you can see how do you have a pirate captain, when you got a bunch of pirates, they just kill you maybe captain. I mean, how do you do that? Well, it was voting thing and you had women Muslims and blacks. Manning or getting captain these ships, and it was just a totally different atmosphere. And we just found that very compelling and it's called black sails, and you watch that it's really fun. I'll check it up not sexy that you see lost in space, the new version of that the same actor that plays. John robinson. The head guy on the ship. You lost in space danger will Robinson thing..

"We started with the news from earlier this week that net flicks. His canceling Jessica Jones and the punisher to marvel shows which not coincidentally are also Disney properties. There is no question that we are on the brink of some sort of key transition point. And regardless of what you choose to call it whether you want to call it these streaming war. Or is or the road to new cable, or whatever you wanted describe it as there are things that are changing that are going to dramatically reshape what the media landscape looks in five years in the same way that five years ago, it looked completely different. And I think that there's no question that the cancellation of the marvel shows on Netflix is a. Assign a gesture in a certain direction because these were very high profile shows for networks when they premiered and they were part of a big programming strategy. And now, suddenly all of the marble properties are really part of aid Disney, plus or a Disney marble streaming strategy. And so they don't fit with networks anymore. And I think that you're gonna see something with the tug of war over something like friends, I think that we are only at the beginning of what is going to be probably the biggest story in where television is going in the next year and a half probably. And that is basically that the people who create those shows used to see companies like Netflix as a source of and Hillary revenue and now they see streaming services as direct competitors. So they're trying to pull their content back at their launching their own streaming services. Is that the bigger picture here? I think that is definitely the bigger picture and all of the things that the Netflix Hulu kind of taken for granted as the foundation of their. Business model Nina the been for whatever we want to say about the apparently twelve billion dollars net flicks. Last year poured into original programming acquired content is still a major portion of what people actually stream on Netflix. Whether it's whether it's friends whether it's the office, whether it's all of the CW shows, and that's great for Netflix. Because it allows Netflix to have that kind of foundation, but it, but it's also a business that the people who actually own those programs want to be in. And so it is Netflix original programming is it enough. If suddenly the studio start taking away all of their prestige programs. Well, let's talk about a couple of new programs one that's on Netflix called Russian doll and one on Hulu called Penn. Fifteen. These are shows that seem to be getting a lot of attention. Are they worth checking out? And how are they doing so far? I think they're absolutely worth checking out. And I think we have absolutely no idea how either one of them. Says not put out a press release boasting that forty million people in some forward another have watched Russian doll. So I don't know all I know is that it's a really good show with a really smart show. It's a show that plays around with with format and with tone, and with style in very impressive ways. So Russian dolls definitely worth checking out anything. Ten fifteen on Hulu is is a lot of fun to gimmick is the two co creators are basically playing junior high versions of themselves Carney,.

"From the Mon broadcast center at KP. See see this is the frame, I'm John horn on today's show what the cancellation of Pearvel shows on Netflix might mean for the future of the TV business then from antiwar demonstrations to Arnold Schwarzenegger, riding horseback. Any Vits has photographed at all we walked through a new exhibit of her early work was not a good photojournaling. So I was going to have to tell more my story from my point of view and left journalism behind eventually turned to portraiture because it was a way of having real licensed to do what you wanted in a photograph and the country swing band asleep at the wheel is still rolling along fifty years after its founding all that coming up on the frame. With so many new players jumping into the streaming game including Disney, apple and Warner media. Twenty nineteen is likely to bring some big changes to the TV business. We called up Daniel Feinberg a TV critic for the Hollywood reporter to talk about what the future could look like to TV viewers. Devil dis her last night at camp. How was even possible? I don't know what happened in the middle of her sleep. That's so unfair that happens to me surrounded by actual preteen and teen actors, and it's it's a really good show about the awkwardness of being a teenager. That's maybe aimed at older viewers who survived those years. I wanna talk about a couple of other shows that might be worth talking about FOX has a series called proven innocent pop has a series called flack and DC universe has a series called doom patrol or any of those shows are other things that you've seen jumping out in terms of midseason or early start shows that are coming out either. Now, or very soon one of the shows that if you've watched any BC in the past couple of weeks, and you're going to see as we move towards the Oscars this weekend that is getting a lot of buzz for ABC as whiskey cavalier whiskey cavalier. One of our best agents. I intelligence proven to be a huge asset to the bureau. You and your fiance recently parted ways. Yes, we did mutual most commercial, but I'm totally fine with it. We have the footage. How? It's a show that I would say succeeds at its goals, and that's something that I wouldn't necessarily say about say proven innocent, which is a very very run of the mill entirely forgettable legal procedural at the very least whiskey cavalier is pretty people Scott fully and learn Cohen or the stars are attractive and fun. And they're having a good time. It was shot in Europe. And it makes actual good use of European locations. It's got all of the depth of a very very shallow puddle. But on the other hand, it's fun. And it's the same with with DC universe is doomed patrol, which is kind of quirky kind of odd and of vast improvement over DC universe's, I live action show which was titans, which was all gloomy and glum and unpleasant. So there's something to be said for improvement one of the other things that happens at the as is that critics get sneak peeks, maybe it's some footage. Maybe it's a pilot of a show. That's not going to be on for a couple of months. Is there anything that you and your colleagues? Saw that might not be coming out immediately. But that you're really interested in seeing what more there is the series. Well, I definitely can't review. The one episode I've seen of FX Fosse Verdon, but I can tell you that that show which starts Sam Rockwell, and Michelle Williams is definitely going to be worth one that I'm looking forward to checking out. It's the story of Bob Fosse, Gwen Verdon. And so there's a lot of fifty sixty seventies cinematic, and Broadway and musical references and dancing and choreography. And I'm not gonna say anything more than I'm looking forward to seeing more episodes. Daniel Feinberg is a TV critic for the Hollywood reporter. Netflix completes its breakup with Marvel, cancels The Punisher, Jessica Jones
"Pretty much completed the marvel exodus from net flicks. Like all of their as of this morning. Yeah. Jessica Jones punisher of being quote, unquote, cancelled for Netflix. But essentially, we're going to be in all at moving Disney Pluess. Well, weirdly this morning, the punisher was officially cancelled. But everyone kind of knew that Jessica Jones was always the most critically acclaimed at the show's third season is shot. As yet to air. Netflix statement was basically like thanks to everyone for making these shows that will live on forever on networks. So. I don't know. I mean, the characters are not done. Sure. But it could well be that this these interruptions of the characters tasks, and this kind of the Andy, and I were talking about a week or so ago about what kind of stuff is going to be undesired police were still doing it. I I think we have to commit to the bit at this point. I should gotten tweets from people. Like, I I will I will not be referring to this thing is Disney classier, they're they're gonna Bob I is going to personally, send us a personal. Thank you note in French. Does it come with a lot of zeroes? That's what you're I do assess then Netflix moral shows were gritty that was their whole kind of the pitch was like this takes place in a gritty, violent people curse people have sex people drink people, you know, when people get shot at bleed closer to our reality. Sure. Yeah. And you know stars. Yeah. I'm sorry mistake that maybe more like high another young people, right? But the Disney plus idea do they didn't he plus ideal is supposed to be a little more family friendly friendly. I think so I think that's more in the Disney brand think probably the hardest would get would be a a sort of soft PG thirteen at I think it's just an interest. We'll turn back Brel academy. But it's just to say that like, let's look at the results. Let's go to the tape. And let's look at the superhero movies that have succeeded in the last few years critically and commercially and what they have in common. And if you pluck out Thor ragnarok, Spiderman movie wonder woman, dead pool, an aquaman, there is a willingness and obviously in to different degrees between those projects to embrace the core absurdity of the project right to calm either to comment on it. You know in sort of a meta explicit way like deadpool or to run, right? Towards the fact that this is a movie about a talking fish man, which I haven't seen. But from what I gather when I heard that Julie Andrews was voicing internal like ocean beast. Maybe whether meant to be whether it was intended to be funny or not. Yeah. I was embraced and Wonderwoman. Embrace the kitschy optimism of it which which kept in America, the first venture did as well as a period piece, and I really appreciate that. And so despite the there's some there's some residual conservative knee jerk thinking here that would people the only way to make America by comic book properties is if they are grim and gritty that's just not the case anymore. This is a generation was grown up on this stuff and understands that that a comic book story can be high or low or light or dark like any story. Yes. And so I'm pretty into the surrealism of the umbrella academy if anything I

"I know exactly how much all that shit ways. When I saw the pick up the Dow to the face, I was like he whips around the Olympic bar into some dudes fucking nuts. Those forty five pounds there's thirty five pound bars too. And that's a problem. But generally a forty five pound bar now when he fucked that dude's face up with the little small twenty five pound plate. I that's what I started getting uncomfortable like physically uncomfortable. That's face was just completely changed. It was so fucking Vialli glory so violent this violent. I love the trailer the fight in the trailer was really good with Curtis and John pilgrim like just fighting in that enclosed tight space. They've been that. Well, honestly the joke yard fight between him and pilgrim. Oh, yeah. They're they're whipping chains at each other with the scuba tank facing. Yeah. Yeah. I was surprised pilgrim that strong. I was like how's this dude? Taking all this. And that's the thing is is the reason that they do the whole like because there's a point where you wonder like why are we doing this weird backstory with pilgrim where he visit the the Neo Nazis? Yeah. That's the whole point. Is it shows you that fight that he has with the Neo Nazis in the bar. That's where you go. Oh, he's Frank. Right. But then he goes he does some drugs getting. Quote scripture at the same time if the shows like the most sexually explicit. I've seen any of these shows. I think surprisingly only paling maybe in comparison to the first season of Jessica Jones. Yeah. But they. Yeah. It was I was at some points. Just like oh my God. How does he take all this? But yeah, it's the punisher. He does keeps fucking ticking. Like. He was on Jimmy Kimmel burnt all broke his hand. During filming the first fight seat on the first day of shooting. And so he really had a bra. And then even tell anyone for like. It was actually real. Yes. To go in for surgery because he didn't wanna tell anyone, and it was getting smashed around and got worse you had to have surgery. So he really had a fucking broken hand the whole the whole time. But he's bad as how bad is that girls? Fucking bad ass. I love the sheriff's office because I love the way birth. All Frank turns them to trusting him. I thought that was I thought what that I what really. I was. It's he doesn't even have to turn them. He just has to get the sheriff to believe him. Yes. Yeah. He knows they're gonna follow him and the whole time. You're like, dude, you better. Listen to him, you know batch. It's coming thing. But then literally the next episode agent Madani shows up to interrupt all this take to New York where they're hanging out in her apartment for like, four episodes. And it's and there's a lot of moments where you check in with characters who are literally waiting while other. Character is doing it. Franks friends who are just sitting around waiting for him. Hey, did you know cool army here? Weird. Fuck. Let's talk about some other characters. I loved Curtis. I thought it was great. I lo- Curtis. He was fine. A lot of Justice. This season agent Mahoney. I feel bad for his girlfriend. Oh, yeah. Right. Three stand. Why? After being in the defender's daredevil like why does it? He just assume punisher is doing some good shit because he seeing this kinda crazy vigilance problem with the avengers. Yeah. All that stuff. They're still giving cops the collar beat the dude up. He's tied up in the alley. Go arrest him, you even the system. Yeah. The punisher is bullet in them because I think you're incompetent judge jury and executioner. Yeah. A little too far for their absolutely punisher. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, that's that's his theme allow that hurt. Us was great. What was good? Yeah. I we think what Karen page one episode one little girl. Well, let's talk about Amy. Yes, sir pages such a small part that I don't even think he's worth discussing. Okay. Honestly. But talking about Amy was I did not like, Amy and all. I thought she was a little better. But I was like this girl's a little punk. I know that the punisher has to help her. But I did not like her. And I'll be honest. I know we all like to that first half of that..

"The original form over shows includes a clause that prevents the characters from appearing in any non Netflix series or film for at least two years after canceled h hit that means daredevil, Luke cage iron fist. And then eventually Jessica Jones which were all capable this year. Netflix could not come to the Disney streaming service until twenty twenty at the earliest, Jessica Jones, new season isn't even out yet. So you can that's twenty twenty one until it's cleared. Interestingly enough, the punisher was not part of that deal. They made that show is on. Whim after they had such big reaction to daredevil to. They all the deal is for the four shows and the defenders altogether punisher was outside. So that either means, but they're probably gonna cannon even means. A Netflix is going to be like we want to still make punish your things. Whether Disney would be happy and mobile would let them do that. I don't know or it's just going to get canned. But wouldn't it? I don't think this is going to be Lisa Morrison is not going to like hearing this. I think we're gonna see Charlie Cox's their delay more. Like if you got to wait two years. There's no as people are coming back in these roles. Now, they're done it's done, which is said this is a little bit. Like, do you know the deal with the reality shows like if you try out for America's got talent or the voice, and if you don't make it even if you're making if you don't make it I believe you sign a clause? The says you cannot try out for any other reality show for a year. Like, they lock you out of that. This shit. It's complete bullshit. What this leads me to wonder and hope then is I seriously doubt Disney's gonna want punisher. Did you the marvel themselves did buy back the character from? Lionsgate that had. Yeah, I feel like just something. Something tells me that like Disney isn't gonna want punisher at I would be more than happy with the idea that net. Flicks. Would hold onto it. Yeah. That's a good point. Because Disney's like what what are we going to do this? I mean, I could be wrong because if they're planning on trying to bring all these other shows over. Yes. There's a very good chance that they're going to try to rebrand it. They're going to try and time closer into the MC you, and they might try and PG thirteen the crap out of them, but they could put their their their more adult fare on the Hulu also because they are now controlling shareholders of the Hulu that's pretty good point. And they can give that flakes a run for their money. Netflix has got to be shitting in the past love it with the Disney. Plus and the Hulu and Disney behind both of these. I mean, you're still gonna have avengers Infinity war. It's on Netflix in December December twenty fifth. Yeah. For a year, it'll be there. And then everything gets pulled up. I think net net flix got to change your strategy a little bit because they were spending money and putting up show after show after shell. And nobody even can keep up with the amount of shows that many shows that aren't nobody is too much quantity. And not enough qualified out Riber have listen spend more money on these shows. Get get better bang for your buck. Like, you know, go places where these guys are not going to go. They're not, you know, create like some fucking cinematic shit. Yeah. And go all out. I don't really need three thousand shows. I need you you need. The like what you need to do is put out the shows and. And always have something new coming on after these shows are out for three or four weeks, whatever. And then and that's about it and then Campbell. Did you see the SNL, but they did a couple of weeks ago? They didn't enough lex commercial. It's like they just shit..
‘Daredevil’ Canceled By Netflix After 3 Seasons; Future In Other Marvel Projects
"Netflix has cancelled daredevil. This is something that we didn't expect Chris. What do we know? Yes. Netflix has been slowly pulling the plug on their moral shows. Luke cage iron fist was canceled. I had Luke cage and now daredevil has been cancelled after three seasons leaving only Jessica Jones and the punisher as the. Only two remaining shows that belong to marvel and Netflix right now. In the statement. They said they that there are possible future projects for the character. And that can mean anything that could be, you know, net flicks in Jessica Jones or punisher or it could need Disney. Plus, but as for now, the daredevil series itself that appeared on Netflix is over and done
As Netflix Kills Its Marvel Shows, 'Daredevil' Season 3 Is A Must-Watch
"Or those characters going in. I just don't. So these shows to really good job of, you know, introduced these characters showing them. Many of these characters were flawed, which I think was good thing to see. Imperfect heroes, you know, which we hadn't seen a whole lot of it. We kind of had the MC you had shown us some of that, but these were characters that you know just weren't perfect. They had their flies. They had their issues. They had their problems. They had checkered difficult pass sometimes. But through that all they tried to find a way to, you know, to be a hero for their city and the people around them, and I really enjoyed that. So you know, like daredevil did an amazing job and they also took their time to just, you know, build the origins or the starting points of these characters. Right? They didn't rush it. Didn't rush. You know, it's just like, you know, just Jones now right to the action. No, they didn't do that. Daredevil definitely didn't do that. We didn't even see his conic suit until the very end of season one just the way it was, you know, and Luke cage. Same thing, you know, like we, we didn't get to see. Like, you know, we saw him show up a little bit and Jessica Jones, I think, came out before Luke cage season one, but you know, we got to see that there so we already got to see. And that's another thing the shows have done. They've kind of like, you know, start to ties in these characters together. They've shown up on some of each other shows, which I think has been a great idea. It's worked out really well. And like I said, I've gotten to watch some of daredevil season three so far. I haven't watched all of it, but I like what I saw so far and Jessica Jones. Even though season two had a few flies, it was still a good show. It was an enjoyable show. It was a show I enjoyed watching. So, yeah. And like I said, even an even punisher, which punisher originally came in for the. Those that don't know on daredevil season to, you know, John Byrne all came in. And again, we had gotten not one, but two punisher movies, and I had a chance to watch both of them recently. And I have to say, I, I forgot how bad the first one was, and it's sad because the first one is star studded in this big film and had a lot of potential. But it was really, really bad. And then I gotta see punisher war zone, which I thought was this video.

"Netflix will not be picking up the option for season three of iron fist, but you will still see Danny rand crossover in some of the others and actually a defenders to is not off the table. So we will see Danny ran and possibly Jessica Jones. Another defenders. Probably Luke cage. They work so well together, and maybe we'll get a heroes for hire spin off, but there will be no more immortal iron fist solo series. I'm the. Protect your line. Yes. Danny, we know who you are. The aero verse has huge crossovers every fall. This fall, no, no different. We are going to be introduced to the city of Gotham and a new character to the aero verse bat woman, they cast ruby rose to be bat woman, and they've shown some costume pictures of her and looks like they took them straight out of the comic book. This is right off the pages of DC. Ruby rose has the look. She has the acting chops the arrow verse. All those shows are crazy popular. I'm loving that they're expanding, especially with Gotham going away. CW is expanding their CW superhero universe, so might not be long before we start seeing some more of these guys in their own series. DND players. If you remember a while back, they added a new class. Old spice came up with the gentlem-. In class based off of their commercial character? Well, not to be outdone. They've made another new class. Not old spice is just made up by the fans called the murder Hobo class. If you've ever played DND, you know, the murder hobos are the players who just want to maim kill rape, torture for no reason whatsoever. Just do it in cause chaos. They have made their own class with class defining rules. Now you can actually download this from DM guild, which is it's probably not going to be considered canon for DND, but being on DM guild is probably the next best thing. If you're DM is allowing it, you might try this murder Hobo class. If that's not for you, get the old spice gentlemen class there I've played the gentlemen class. It's pretty cool. You should try it out, murder Hobo class, not into that type of character. A lot of people are, but, hey. Now you've got rules for it by now. You've heard that Disney has fired James Gunn the guy who wrote and directed the guardians of the galaxy hugely popular movies. He was fired over some tweets. He made ten years ago or so. They were made in jest, but they were taken, I guess, by Disney's seriously. They didn't like the content a lot of dark humor that they didn't think was funny. So they've, they fired him well, as soon as they did that, all the other companies were lined up at his door knocking and the one he answered for was DC. The DC universe is going to have James Gunn attached to the new suicide squad to movie. He's already proven. He can write group movies with guardians of the galaxy in just do a killer job. It hasn't been decided if he's going to direct suicide squad to yet. But just the fact that he's writing it is it's mind blowing. We're going to see probably the best suicide squad incarnation. You could think of Batiste day Batista's already said that he wants to come over. If James Gunn is directing it and play a character. I just I can't wait for this to see a movie be as popular or some of the marvel movies would be great. I would love to see James Gunn grab this and run with it and just do a whole series of DC movies. So congratulations, James Gunn. Congratulations. DC marvel. I hope the guy you've replacing with does just as well. Let's finish this up with some Star Wars. Let's start with the mandatory and show by John Fabbro. If he don't know already, the Disney play channel is picked up a big budget, Star Wars series that they're letting Jon Favreau writing direct. Jon Favreau has done an excellent job with all the other stuff. He's worked on from iron man, two zero through gemology all the way up to jungle book the live action one. Handing him the reins of this in him picking a character or a classic character. So I contacted MandA Laurean can't wait man in case you didn't know Django fit Boba fett are the main delorean's you're probably more familiar with or maybe some the ones from the clone war series.

"He doesn't ask do this, but I do think that's a very tricky part of their relationship because no, she's not gonna just like go along. And I think you know, one of the trickiest parts of their relationship is her warning him to be better and him wanting to be better wanting to be the. Man, she thinks he is, but also wanting to know he's enough and those are tricky elements. So I think we will. We'll see some of that, but they're still in the honeymoon phase. So nobody's nobody's thinking the deep thoughts yet. So you get married in a fever, and then you run off space. Haven't thought it through yet. But then there's also the other point is this got me thinking also you're building yourself quite the toy box between Jessica Jones. Mr. MRs. Acts on west coast, west coast vendors, comment Marvel's already, one big shared universe, but do you plan on dropping Easter egg linking the series or have them reference each other somehow I'm thinking double date. If if Rogan gambits come back to earth were still figuring out to, I, I know what issue six is. I'm really excited about it, but then what the next arc is going to be is still in flux. But because of some other things that are going on with x. men that are coming up, which has probably gonna know next month I'd say that affects some of the things we're doing or not doing. So a double date might not be in their future because we might be sort of forced not in a bad way, but sort of forced into a certain direction. So. But I will make the most of it. So extermination..

"Um which brings us too marvels the defenders which debuted a couple of weeks ago on networks i have been waiting for the show since they announced the net flicks lineup many many years ago they announced since they announced daredevil a little bit later they they announced that they would be doing shows for jessica jones who nobody knew about but me as under light a few of us of you a few a few of you guys but let me that the book the public at large i heard of this daredevil guy because of been athlete but what is it jessica jones and yzf a regular name anna luke cage and an iron fist and then after that they said at some point we're gonna team all up and we're going to do the defenders allows us absolutely and i was i was here for it and it's it's kind of been long build uh in the marvel tradition they don't just throw you right into the fire nope they said we're going to spend some time with some character development because that is what's necessary and see had two seasons of daredevil one jessica jones one luke cage and the one iron fist and the prevailing under current in all these series was that there was a criminal element called the hand that was no pun intended extending its hands into the underworld of new york um so it would only make sense it at some point these characters who didn't have a lot of crossover with each other except for luke cage and jessica jones with somehow be brought together by this common threat uh which brings us to.

"I think it was good at the end of the day i think it was good overall i i liked at the scene set up a little bit of a mysterious explanation of our of our villains and i just again you know it's i'm gonna i'm probably going to harp on this tour done with the podcast it's one of those things i found this entry to episode three a little strange where it fell in a little bit how they executed it but with this have may be ben an amazing opener for episode 1 i feel like that was like if you took this whole sequence and he put it a little sooner in the show and you give this big mystery and all the stuff in your what is this what's going on man i think it would hurt me a little bit more i gotta say that it was good i i just i was a little surprised by the way at all came across i get wouldn't be hard to hook us more than that first episode and certainly that i see in the first episode like i don't know it you could open up on jessica jones eating a tunafish sandwich and that would have been much more compelling that what we got i would have been in treatment was to deal with these two is it is is this tune have been made with the stuff is the stuff crossing over with marvel enough instead of man as they're using this stuff to bind the tuna together not lower that's that's quite a reveal that'd be a huge reveal oh my god what about all of this black sky business that were starting to hear about here we've heard the words before in the marvel netflixing universe black sky and this was something that elector was accused of back in her season of daredevil towards the end of her run on daredevil.

"Oh absolutely i just think i am i try to imagine stuff right it's like as as a comic book at her there is all as a comic book editor there was always this idea of how how do you know what people are going to know from reading this and if people don't say it or if you don't tell them it they're not necessarily gonna know there's no context clues with an within any of these electra scenes that would lead you to understand as a new viewer that she's anyone but someone who runs down stairwell's really fast wave after the justic a jones i guess she's really fast on stairs let me ask you this besieged after the i know i know we're trying to wrap this up but there's the scene and i i really liked the the jessica jones misty night scenes they're like their personalities interplay really really well and their scenes but is is the scene where we follow misty night trying to chase jessica jones down the stairs supposed to establish that jessica jones goes down stairwell's quickly so that when she can't catch electra down a stairwell it's supposed to show us that electra's extra quick stairwell it really does feel like the defenders is like forcing this narrative of electra like the fastest person in the marvel universe like she is like now that quicksilver is out of the marvel cinematic universe i guess she is now the fastest person here yeah i just thought that was like because that's the only reason i could figure out what you would have two extended sequences of someone chasing someone down a stairwell to not find that happen it'd be a comparison to each other within the episode and i was like oh well all right that's a choice i mean a lot of superhero shas just kind of use a little special effects budget to show us.

"Some of your favorites jessica jones luke cage matt murdoch matsuda his friend foggy mer volume rda elyse hollander barron colleagues stick is back your rights are madam gail is back rose ario dawson's character clay she's back turk bharati's back arts back briefly baby choices by st not is back yeah that's all the characters that we know would love their back gaudio guarded by his absence we bloody what do you think of this what lawyer yeah i liked it i enjoyed it it was brisk yet red um i think it's more on public like a a daredevil season to i don't think it was good as the first asian of daredevil jessica john it's definitely better than on face the mckay he's a think this is good what it is my my come coming just out of this 'cause i just watch lost episode before we got before we started here it's it's good and fun but it's not about anything it's very said i feel it's quite similar to like the advantages like i think if all of that for light it's it's not about you know surviving trauma and the longterm effects of an and that's not about you know ease justice ito is vigilantism an effective way to to get justice and how far is too far it's just ps four papal that a really good at punching let's get them together and they got up a let's punched together as a team on all think these even like in terms of its bank like the advantages even a couple of like long form shots where we bounced from one character to announce that the role in the same scene and the role fighting papal ryan and their own inimitable styles kind of thing it's mostly just punching honestly punching they owed is that bunch of your abilities good here's the thing i think in this one.
