"Right there. Question about that. Yes, ma'am. I was wondering if if your dad really isn't after American man That's a very I mean, I don't I don't know what you're implying. Are you African American? I don't I don't understand. The question of I did tell you that. Yes, that's my dad. And he was unable to come in January. Are your parents? Are they white? I read in a society permeated by racist attitudes and institutions that make many things harder for people of color. What made this white woman wish to pass as a member of a truly disadvantaged group? From K E. R A in Dallas. This is think I'm Chris Boyd. That story made national headlines of the time in part because it seemed so unusual, But as it happens, Diablo is hardly the first white person to attempt this sort of reverse passing or the last Helen Lewis is a London based staff writer at the Atlantic. And she reported on the phenomenon for her recent article. The identity hoaxers, Helen, Welcome to think. Thank you very much. You open the piece with the story of a revelation made by a black history professor named Jessica Krug last fall. She urged readers of a piece she wrote for medium to cancel her. What sort of identities had she claimed over time? She makes him very specific claims in the post, she wrote about claiming North African blackness and us right of blackness and Bronx blackness, And she'd also post is Latina ex as well. So you know, she goes. She's adopted this act of his name of Jessica LeBron Valera on Berry kind of strong Bronx accent as well on Dwight was the interesting things about it. Two things that really stood out. When I talk to people about this was the first was that she was almost Kind of over the top in her presentation of herself, You know, I took brother Latino people who were you know who were kind of confused that people have taken this seriously because it looked to them almost like a kind of parody, but also in common with lots of the people that I talk to you for this piece. She was very into gate keeping other people's race. Which I think is an extraordinary thing to do When you're passing is a racial not yourself to also, then be telling other people they're not black enough. They're not Latino enough. But that was a kind of quite a common theme of all these people who I thought mostly women in activists and academia. Who worked in as Rachel dollars, wanted and worked in Africana Studies, or, you know, miss studies work, too critical race theory or families, more queer studies that they haven't just adopted. This percent of that kind of moved into their professional lives, too. How did Jessica Krug use her assumed black identity to get funding for her work? Well. She took part in funding that was designed for marginalize scholars. And she also wrote about topics where she was kind of scene is having greater authenticity and talking about them from the perspective of a minority America. That was the kind of interesting thing to me is that when I talk to people, you know the scholarship was very well regarded. Her book was regarded as being very good, but it wasn't enough to be a kind of white expert on another culture. You know, she had to feel it somehow. She was part of it, too. On Dat to me was I could understand that right? Because as ah I'm white myself, and there is a sort of feeling about, you know, should white people be writing about race? Should men be writing about feminism, gender, You know, Should you write about things that are outside your experience as a phrase? It comes up a lot of social media. You stay in your leg. And I think some of this is a consequence of that kind of stay in your lane culture. It seems almost impossible that anybody could claim over the years to be so many different things as Krug did and not have more people putting two and two together to at least Recognize that her story didn't make sense. Had anyone tried to publicly challenge her before? Telling anyone had tried publicly, but I think there have been discussions among other minority academics on by the weirdest thing is that the story eventually became public because another academic who was black had been passing as Hispanic actually from the Cuban diaspora. Also in the same university when he died. You know, everybody found out that he was actually Herman Carol, not ash, AJ Carrillo, as he'd been represent himself, including his husband, to whom this was also news. You know, this was someone had written a book or losing my Spanish that was about trying to learn English or something from the Cuban diaspora. You know he was born, I think in Detroit, so you know that that prompted conversations among minority academics that then led to this medium post. You reference at the start, where she kind of outdid herself and asked to be canceled. Was this extraordinary to me Was that then another academic commented on this case on the Jessica Crewes casing. And she was she had a PhD in forming black faces possible. You know, Kansas cracker, all of this kind of stuff and the academic. You said all those things also, she turned that two. Are they sorry she uses Jen. They then pronounce. They turned out to have been somebody who Was also passing as a minority when they were being white. So at that point, I began to think you know how many of these people are there? And there was another person of the white woman who's passing his Mexican that I write about in the story. You know, there are other examples to and the conclusion of the story, which was quite shocking. I talked to somebody who researches Munchausen's, You know, Factitious disorder. People invent medical symptoms. And he said to me when the majority of the people who do that particular online you know, they joined cancer support forums never get caught. They never get found out the majority of deception too successful. On Dat made me think about the fact that I would not be at all surprised if there were more people out there who were doing a similar thing who had airbrushed their back story because to call someone out is being fake in terms of their race. That's a very high stakes call to make if you get that wrong, you know, that is incredibly offensive to people on Also, you had that clip their of Rachel dollars down, you know. The what does it mean to be to be white or black, particularly the context of a very racist society? Then those are fundamentally character characteristics that have been explained by racism. You know, blackness in America, so wound with Jim Crow laws and racial segregation would discover that Donna's all had a grand parent who was black or a great grandpa or one great great grandparents. What point is that claim become not ridiculous anymore..

"Bongino back now on the Dan Bongino ship on a lighter note. I have to do an update on this hilarious involvement story and and not because I want to pile on. I don't do pylons. You know, I don't think so. But it's Just becoming epidemic now where people Are faking. Who they are. And doing it in a reason in a way that is so easily discoverable. You start to wonder if these air saying rational people Elizabeth Warren, pretending to be an Indian. Rachel Dolezal pretending to be black Jessica Crewes. I don't know what she was pretending to be Spanish or something. These examples are just everywhere. You wonder why? Well, as I said yesterday, please again. Listen to yesterday's show. We put a lot of work into it. Talk about how it's Faking your status to become a minority when you're not Gives you status because in victim culture if your minority you have victim status, and that's exalted by leftist, but secondly, it immunizes you from attacks. Who's left this believe you can't be a racist. Say racist things like Raphael Warnock did if you were black or Hispanic, cause you don't have power the guys running for Senate So that that's nonsense, too. So what better way to being a Zay said yesterday. I'm actually stunned. More people don't fake being Spanish, Black, Asian or whatever. Insulated from attacks and you get status in society. We left this who's better than you. Let's just replay this a Larry Evolvement Hilaria Baldwin video here here is a Larry Bowman who is real name is Hillary Way Would Thomas from Cambridge, Massachusetts, who admits now she is a quote white girl? Her words, not mine. And you know, why would she not want to be a white girls to listen to Raphael Warnock? You know who she probably, you know, likes. Suggesting to her that whiteness should be renounced. Why would you not want to pretend to be something else? But here's Hilaria Baldwin on a cooking segment on a major national show, pretending to not know how to say in the word English. Keep in mind. She grew up in Cambridge message you speaking of how to say the word not Super Cala. Fragile ist. It makes me hell does she does? She apparently forgot how to say the word because you're going to be a Spanish speaker. Cucumber? I ain't feeling radius. We have tomatoes way.

"Have tomatoes way have participating. Cucumber cucumbers. We have red. It's a stunt. It's at a bad one. So what's going on here? Folks. There's two reasons here. People do things like this. One. It's a byproduct. Of our cancel culture and where we live now. And the power of victimization. Remember the left needs to create new enemies Act like they're the protectors. And if you are the protectors of this new class of enemies, people who used the wrong words then you are exalted. You gain exalted status. So number one. There's safety in this My wife joked about it yesterday. She's actually Colombian. She's like, Oh, I guess I'm safe then. There's safety in it. If you are a minority and a victimized class, even though nobody can prove you've been victimized. Some people can. There are cases obviously again of racism. But even if you've suffered no noticeable racism that is impacted you deeply outside of some stupidity your entire life. By claiming that status falsely That you have some Spanish heritage. You are then in a protected class and because the left theory which is illogical. That racism requires power. So therefore, if you are in a minority group, you can't be racist. Gives you a level of protection. So if you happen to be black or Hispanic, and you use words, epithets for white people, you won't know what they are like. We don't need to repeat them on the show. You've heard them, but There are epithets for white people that can't be racist because you're a minority group. And according to the left logic or illogic, you have no power so that can't be right. It's racist by definition. You're judging someone who's white. Parsley by using an epithet because of their skin color, But no no. According to the left perverse definition of racism. If you're a minority, you have no power so you can never be racist. Ladies and gentlemen, can you imagine the safety in that? You will never be subjected to cancel culture as Hilaria Baldwin because you're a minority from Spain. Can you imagine the safety and security all my gosh. I'm not kidding. You can never be accused of racism and your entire life and be canceled. Wow. That's a lot of power. What's the second reason? She probably did what she did, like. Others have because he's not the only example. Rachel Dolezal Jessica Crewes, the examples are everywhere. Their status in it. Think about how powerful it is to falsely claim you're a member of minority Group number one. You're safe your entire life from charges of racism. As long as you're not a conservative, then they'll just throw the rules out. But secondly, you gain exalted status. Because you are not only a victim. As a condition of being a minority. But if you were then an anti racist out there calling out everyone else's racist. You gain exalted status as a warrior of the council culture left. I'm not joking. Why would you not do that? You're safe from any charges of cancel culture while becoming a lieutenant, the cancel culture movement getting promoted in the cancel culture movement of gaining exalted status. Frankly, folks, I'm stunned more people in Hollywood. Don't do this. I'm actually stunned that the white ist white folks out there. Jessica Chastain and others don't randomly just say Hey, yeah, I'm black or Hispanic. Why wouldn't you? Candidly that this was a stupid decision. Do you blame her? "She's and she's a community organizer for BLM right here in Indiana and apparently on Facebook. Last week, she released a big, long post, you know, vowing to see Help for her. Whatever mental issues caused her to pose as a black woman for ever. Her real name is Jennifer Betton. She comes from two white parents. She had her name changed in 2010. And that is about the time when her role as an activist really began to go full force, and she wrote in a statement, and I quote Friends. I need to take accountability for my actions and the harm that I have done. My deception and lies have hurt those I care most about. I have taken up space as a black person while knowing I'm white. I have used blackness when it was not mind to use. I've asked for support and energy as a black person. I've caused harm to the city. Friends in the work that I held so dear, I am sorry for the harm I've caused. I'm sorry for the hurt the betrayal. I'll do what I can to show that I want to be a better person, by the way, non binary. What is that weight? She's a non binary. Is she pretending to be that too? Or is that just something that you can? Anybody can claim that It's also pretend she's saying I'm neither male female? I'm somewhere on the suspect under she needs all sorts of help. Like like all the help. Alright, so question If Listen, why would you Okay, I need to phrase this right way because we've heard for the past. I don't know. Six months a year more so than ever that it's like Michelle Obama said. It's a crime to be a black person in this country. So why would you want to be that if you're white? Why would you have the privilege? If you have all the white privilege? Why would you want to change your identity to be something that is, you know? Bye. By virtue of the ex first lady is a crime. Is this what she says? It's just terrible to be black, she says. In America. Maybe this is that weird way because I know that anti racist activists are very into this whole idea of the way that you that white people atone for their white privilege is to give their own stuff. Whatever they've whatever their possessions are, whatever they have, whatever they have earned as a part of their white They just need to give that to black people on so they're just this is just some weird way. She's like I'm giving up my white privilege entirely by just becoming black. Okay? And you know, somewhere Rachel Dolezal is like, thank God. There are other people now doing this because she was like I thought I was. I was crazy, but she was the trend center when it came to this course. We just talked about a couple weeks ago. Jessica Crewes, Who's a George Washington University, or Waas, a George Washington University African American studies professor. She confessed her whiteness. Last month. She publicly apologize. There's a grad student at the University of Wisconsin Mad Massine, who stepped down From her teaching position just this past week, and she did. The same thing is it was a big, long medium post about how I'm actually Southern Italian and Sicilian. Yeah, and she looked Italian. Okay, So so what people do now what I do, because if they have jobs and like this one, that one chick was a professor, and she's no longer Professor. What do you D'oh What do you D'oh your your whole life. You are a giant liar. You lie. You're kind of a bad person. You do that. What do you do now?.
