To be an athlete and always been a passionate. About you. Know I was a high school and there's no professional swimming right, you know there are no swimming teams. We earn money, but you can in the navy about five hundred bucks a month to swim so I I. Actually my mother and father I have I come from a rare family. My mother and father are both World War Two veterans. Not many people can say their mom is. My mom was a nurse North Africa. Africa during World War Two and my father ended up with six or seven bronze battle stars in Europe. He was. He's fought North Africa Normandy the Remagen Bridge, the battle of the Bulge Anzio and went into Berlin and did when he enlisted at thirty six years of age. Wow, he got out at forty. What what did he do? He was with the I. Think the six ninety nine th tank destroyer unit under patent. Not and show up my brother. WHO's three years older than me? likewise went in the navy and was a navy seal so like all younger brothers. Until you reach a certain age, you always do what your older brother. Don Sir Natural. Follow that you do. So when I graduate when I graduated from high school I I was going to go to college. I got caught of in the double standard of college and here's what happened. I had a scholarship to the University of Northern Illinois Swim. But sent dekalb dekalb. Yes, I'll bell annoy and but I couldn't but I couldn't get faster admission ward. Swim into cow well, I don't know your morning pools. Adam pools the same way. They don't matter what town near. Barb wire over there pools of the same but but what happened to me, was this. A naturally go to the high school counselors and they say. What do you WanNa? Do I WanNa go to college? So they make you take these college courses, Physics Biology Advanced Algebra trig and all that, so I'm sitting in these classes. Would friends the today are PhD's factors right and I'm getting sees right. By well. The I could have taken Jim help I could've taken all these other. Bozo power so got all as right while the problem was, they required every out of state student to be in the upper third of your graduating class I because I took these difficult courses and fucked off a little bit. You know young kids share young guys I was only in the upper half right so I couldn't get by their admission board I couldn't get the scholarship, so you know. Know I got pissed off at that point a little bit, and and I just decided to hell with college, and then one day my brother had come back from Vietnam, and to show you bright me and my best friend. One of my best friends, were He. He told us don't go in the service. Stay out of this Vietnam right. Stay away from it. Because he had just returned, he'd been stationed in denying would right with an underwater demolition seal team and. My friend called me up. I'll never forget September tenth of nineteen sixty nine, and he said I'm going in the Navy I wanNA. Do what your brother does. I said, but didn't you listen to me? told us not to, and then he goes and I. Want you to come with me buddy program so the two of us. I says now wait a minute. I said okay. Go down there, but we ain't sign and nothing right. We'll go here what they gotta say. Sheet we go down there. They're like used cars. Their car sales there i. come home with an idea. What they call them the hundred and Twenty Day delay program where you enlist, and they gave you hundred and twenty days to go have fun and by the Navy when you're managing or nineteen hundred twenty days feels like a lifetime. Oh, I mean yeah that that's that's why I was such a fuck up back there. told me. Anything was going to happen between now and one hundred twenty days I'd be like Shit. A meteoric could hit the planet before that I'm not gonNA study I'm not gonNA whatever. Whatever's I would've agreed to anything. And if gay porn had a hundred and twenty day wait, I would have signed up when. Something between now and then getting motorcycle accidents. And for you, Blink Your Eyes. We got enlisted, and all of a sudden I'm in, but the good thing about it was this I got an ID card, and we had a little army base there where we could now go out with this idea. Get in, and you can drink back then. It was a twenty one age age-limit share so I. Yeah, it was called the thirteenth artillery there by the Minneapolis Airport so so we'd go out and get tuned up out there if weekend before we left and yet and drink plus the drinks were cheap. Base so did now. Where did you do? Did you do your navy training? A Coronado was the training. We went to boot camp in San Diego. I graduated from BOOT camp. And of course you got a volunteer for seal training in Boot camp, which I did and I passed the what they call the screen test. It was interesting that. They probably have three companies guys in their three hundred guys in you've you're learning and BOOT camp? You learn all about all the facets of the navy then one day. You get this thing where these guys walk out these. In shape wearing marine greens, all start Shiny Cochran jumpsuits, and they come out and tell you well. We're here to teach you about the other facet of the Brown water navy, not the Bluewater I, we're we're the underwater demolition seal team and we're a volunteer unit. They talk about they showed us. A film called the men with green faces, because this was Vietnam and the visa used to call the seals, the green faces whereas of the Cami. We share. And so of course there were three hundred of us in there, and I'll never forget. When he got done with the presentation, he looked out, and he said okay. Anyone that wants to volunteer for underwater demolition seal training. Stay in your seat. He goes the rest to you. Get the fuck Outta here. Guys are running over themselves shared. Because they're joining the navy because they don't want to be in the army, they don't WanNa, be breezy. Want to be on the ship getting three hots and a COT share and And the Viet Cong not known for their ARMATA. Or their or their air force, he writes. Floating around and a battleship somewhere off the Gulf of Tonkin. You'RE NOT GONNA. Get fucked with you shouldn't be. Odds are very very limited so anyway out of the three hundred probably thirty guys state. And fifteen of 'em serious, the other fifteen, just breaking the monotony a boot camp. They give you a screen test of swimming. Push ups. Sit ups for count burpee in the mile run, but the key is they don't tell you what passing is. They want you. Put out data show. How many how fast? Do ask and. And in the end they just combine, say pass or fail while they after the swim. Half the guys are done which was no problem for me. I was a competitive swimmer. Then and you can only use an underwater recovery stroke, which means you breastroke side choke? There's no butterfly and there's right. restyle style has to be clandestine. Also there all the great candidates out there, many of them personal friends mind. But I think what is most important right now. Is that Trumpy defeated his hateful rhetoric and his divisiveness and? Okay. You can stop right there. Kyle listen to the whole no seals combine along. He said I was thinking about I'm thinking about I'm thinking about drinking extra glass of Metamucil tonight before I go to bed toying with the idea. I don't think he can. "Let's talk about the Jesse Ventura factor. I feel like Jesse Ventura was a trailblazer in in a way that deserves that deserved more media attention during the rise of Donald Trump to the Republican nominee in the presidency. You touched on that you wrote about that in the book. In Utah. There's differences between them, but man, there are some similarities and parallels between venture is rise to Minnesota governor and what Trump did, how much do you think Trump follow that and how much do you think what Ventura did pave the way? Or was it just more of a coincidental parallel of personalities? One of tidbits that that made researching the book so enjoyable to go through newspapers and news archives. And one of the things that I was really fascinated by with that Trump at at least one rally spoke on behalf of venture. So they had that political connection right away. There is, of course, stints wear been venture, which would sort of interact in the interplay of, you know, maybe could be the next president, those those sorts of things along the way. But really, I think entr Ventura m Trump was was considering. Running for president. So it had to have been a some influence on immediately, but I think it stuck in the back of his head as a dark horse candidate of Basset talker. Even some incoming of professional wrestling. Do you think about it sort of on its surface but forget about, is that that you're actually did have political experience and although brief, he had proven himself or ready in in Minnesota to be a political candidate. So it wasn't as shocking scene, but somebody from an outsider who had success, I think, inspired Trump. What about what changed about your perception of Donald Trump you followed in real time, everything about Donald Trump, wrestling wise, probably and otherwise, at least perfectly and maybe more. So than that in researching the book. What surprised you most that you learned about Donald Trump along the way researching this book? That's a great question. Fifty such a sport facing person..

"For your call. Thanks for all your tax. I'll be back tomorrow. We'll talk about the latest from. Trumpworld tomorrow as well. I like kind of kicking off that Minnesota conversation in the nine and ten o'clock hour with the national news. Interesting. News out this morning that you heard it on the CBS break at the top of the hour where president talk to the king of Saudi Arabia, and that he's sending secretary of state over to meet with king. But it could have been quote, a rogue group and quote interesting. So one of the pieces that you have said when you've called, and when you've texted is the extreme on the left in the extreme on the right? Have means that no place in the middle exists and one of the races that we're watching here in Minnesota. And it is fascinating is the attorney general's race with Republican Doug wardlow and democrat Keith Ellison. A lot has been said about Allison. A lot has been said about wardlow. They're both going to be in the news this week again. But twenty years ago this year. Was the time of Jesse Ventura? Now if Jesse Ventura was running this year. The clamoring for a centrist or a third party candidate in Minnesota would be big. And the truth of the matter is that it's not in the governor's race. And it's not even in the Senate races that we may have that third party candidate. And the fact is that it might not be the independence party this year. The candidates name is Noah Johnson, and he's running in the grass roots legalize marijuana party. And he's already pulling over five percent. Now if he gets five percent on election night. The grassroots legal marijuana now party immediately becomes a statewide major-party in Minnesota meaning. They don't need signatures to get ballot access, meaning they can get the rebate and raise public money and get public matching money for state campaigns. And so this weekend I was with. Few of my friends. We were walking eighteen holes and to democrat liberals. Yes. Playing golf. Men one a lawyer. One in the construction industry, and I looked at them both Democrats, and they both said that they had voted already. And I said so what did you do in the attorney general's race? And the lawyer immediately said. I voted grassroots legalized pot now party. And the construction guy said I left it blank, which creates a dynamic in November. Where people not voting in that race. That are Democrats is lost votes for Keith Ellison and people voting in the grassroots legal marijuana now party are potentially lost votes for both wardlow and Keith Ellison. And since Noah Johnson's already pulling it over five percent, the closer we get to the election in the more fed up. People are with partisanship. Chances. Are he's going to get over five percent. He could get as much as ten percent of the vote in that race. And here's why this is the first election. The millennials are the largest number of eligible voters the energy in this midterm is higher than before. And pew came out with a study in a poll last week. Nearly seven in ten Democrats say marijuana should be legal seventy five percent of independence who lean towards the Democratic Party say it should be and Republicans are divided forty five percent in favor of legalizing marijuana and fifty one percent opposed. But still the sheriff Republicans saying marijuana should be legal is increased from thirty nine percent in twenty fifteen. And now, let's look at the age breakdown. Seventy four percent of millennials believe marijuana should be legalized sixty three percent of my generation generation acts believe it should be legalized and fifty four percent of baby boomers, so if you don't think that once people get in that ballot box, and they feel like Doug wardlow and Keith Ellison represent the polar extremes of the Democrats and the Republicans. They're not going to look for another option. I think that that's the race to watch. I think that's the race to watch to see where dissatisfied voters go because in the governor's race are in the Senate races. There's not as many places for them to go and that voters feel like the stakes in those races are too high. Especially in the governor's race beaming colobus Charlene's healthy margins in that Senate race Tina Smith and KARN house Leila closer. But. I think Tina Smith has some concern she's launching an attack website against KARN. Housley today. What do you think? We're gonna take a break when we come back. Certainly the loss of life is something to be considered. The Michael Moore did a most extensive expose on the implosion and the building several ignited. Dynamite? If whatever I don't know what type of explosive devices, but in slow motion, you could see on every level of the first and second tower as this plane because this is a college superstructure. Yeah. I I agree to that point. There's credible information from demolition experts Jesse Ventura do you remember Jesse Ventura? Right. He was a wrestler, but he went on to become a governor governor, right? And before he was arrested while he was a navy seal. He will special forces, and his specialty was explosives, and and he broke down how this was a controlled demolition. And he broke down as to why. And this guy seemed as logical and credible as he could be an odd. I believed it. I believe it and then beyond that, I did independent research, and obviously others have echoed the exact same thing that Jesse Ventura said this is obviously a controlled explosion. Now. There's explanation as to why they decided to do a controlled explosion. According to some. They blew the building up because if the building would have toppled over it would have killed more people than it coming straight down. Now that is part of the report or the explanation coming out of that. Well, also there was goal in the bottom of the building. And what about the building where Rudy Giuliani was supposed to be doing the any type of emergency? He was supposed to be housed at a at a particular building, which he was gone and the building that he was supposed to be in also toppled.
