"For more. We're here with jesse. Rice president of the appeal and aaron morrison national race and ethnicity writer for the associated. Press josie and erin. Thank you so much for being with us. Thank you for having ans- be with you aaron. The killing of ahmad arbery was caught on video. He was shot three times in broad daylight while he was on a run because three right vigilantes thought he was involved in nearby robberies. Remind us how local prosecutors initially handled this case will. They initially handled it by Let's just be blunt by not handling it. They did not afford Mister perry the civil rights protections that You know others would would get in a what is clearly a criminal a criminal case so And at a very heinous act That was carried out by the by the mcnichols so That's the reason why his mother wanted to. Cooper has filed a civil rights lawsuit just Just recently on the one year anniversary of his death. And where do things currently stand with the trial of the men charged with his murder while they essentially wait await trial trial. Date has not actually been set yet so We're you know we're we're a few days past the one year since amounts death And the families is still awaiting no basically A roadmap for for how how. Things are going to proceed josie. What sort of defense are the three men charged in arby's murder planning on using where basically expecting to see them. Use two different defenses for their actions that day. The first Is the Citizen's arrest law. Which has existed and In georgia law. Since the year that the emancipation proclamation was signed. That's relevant because this law really has a racist origins and has Been employed in explicitly racist ways. Right so it gives it essentially gives citizens or especially white citizens the right without you know to to use the force of law to arrest people using the force of law though they don't have law enforcement credentials And what we see is that it. It plays out In similar situations thrown with arbery They also plan to use what is essentially a stand. Your ground law Basically arguing that ahmad arbery You know came at them after they tried to arrest him and in his Aggression made it reasonable for them to shoot and kill him. You can see how together these two laws Really allow If employed liberally really allow anyone to get away with shooting and killing whoever they want For the suspicion of even the slightest infraction rate. I mean the argument that they they were attempting to arrest him but they were also acting in self-defence Really doesn't align Unless you are in a place like in a place like glenn county last. June georgia governor. Brian kemp signed a hate crime. Measure into law in response to the reaction to arbitrary death before that georgia was one of only four states. That did not have a hate crimes. Statute camp has also proposed overhauling that civil war era. Citizen's arrest law. That you mentioned josie. So how significant are these changes. Look i think it's important to acknowledge some of the ways in which ahmad berry's death was systemically endorsed right and i think that the fact that georgia is one of four got a heat. Crime law is irrelevant. Data point die being said. I find that very often and especially very often southern states. I'm in georgia. These laws end up being used against the very people that they're meant to protect right places like louisiana where now Police are a protected class under the under a hate. Crime law right. You see under ecg and other states where actually any any additional criminalization tends to primarily hurt black and brown people for people not actually the people that this maybe maybe directed towards so i love to see an overhaul of this arrest. Lots and lots of bipartisan effort I think i think i understand the move towards signing a hate crime law but i am skeptical at how actually effective it will be at preventing deaths like amount rbis. This is this is trying to fight as pretty often criticized a culture war with policy an What we see in south georgia is yet again. Another example of of a history of racism and a history of law enforcement supported racism You know ending yet again in the death of at death of an innocent person. Aaron another notable incident of police brutality and georgia last year was the police killing of twenty-seven-year-old rayshard brooks in atlanta. Remind us about the details in his killing right. So you know rayshard brooks. It's pretty well know now that he was essentially stopped on suspension. Suspicion of dui. But you know. I was actually worker at the the wendy's that called because Mr brooks was asleep in his car and After an exchange with officers Who you know essentially Wanted to take him in Even though he parked his car and didn't appear to be posing any threat on on anyone. escalated into confrontation where they tried to use force to to detain him And then at one point. He got a Hand he. He basically got control of an officer's keizer he runs away and he shot in the back Those the officers involved were pretty swiftly. charged In in brought in on the case But the case is actually pretty complicated where it stands right now because it was the under the former. Da paul howard to boot essentially charged of the officers without Really empaneling a grand jury in the traditional sense and there are lots of reasons for why that that happened. But now there's the is sort of languishing bit because there's a new. Da who still. Who's now trying to decide how to proceed jussie. How common is it for district attorneys to be able to bring charges against police officers without involving a grand jury like erin just mentioned experiments uncommon and most states to be able to charge serious violent felonies without involving a grand jury. But it's kind of complicated. I mean i think it sort of depends state by state. I mean what we know. In general is that the the law and every state includes provisions that make it very difficult to convict a law enforcement officer of something like murder rate of of something like that you know. Inuk in cases like the death richard brooks And or the death of george floyd and so got dot. What what what has faced by by grand juries by trial. Juries by by defense attorneys. I'm sorry by prosecutors. Defense attorneys and by judges is the general limitations of the law in terms of wet their allies willing to do to hold the state accountable and the reality is they're just not willing to do much. The law protects state. It does not actually protect the people.

"I'm used to waking up and checking the box score of the good old baseball season at so we kind of go through this this summer right a dollar that's where americana yeah summer road trips yeah I'm checking the box score right that's kind of how there is a very sad sight yes yes yes yes yes what what what what was a sad sight I went to a restaurant an outdoor patio that was across the street from the great Wrigley Field okay and there is a group of people next to us morning some box score and no there they were a family and they'd clearly scheduled like I'm not ready to Chicago so there from morning to morning and the mom was like well thanks for my first baseball game guys and both my wife and I are sitting at the table next to them you know like six feet away obviously we're both just like all that kind of thing I've ever heard is located across the street on the street corner with a sad trombone plays just a balloon that's not in flight for example if a man so it you should talk to their family the drive for what they don't know that the baseball season is cancelled or even their **** goes from a state were covered nineteen apparently is not a big deal to them so they drive in to the big city looking at all the tall buildings back from Chicago I mean they're all wearing becomes is you know how the out of towners from my this is their big weekend in the big city it is it is for them not so much sorrow for Porto baseball rained down to a little bit of rain delay to there's a little bit of weather moving through the area last night but feel bad for Linda yeah I listed in the crew I use Linda and the the couple Brad's and you know their their daughter Irene to bread spread one inbred too well I mean you know no relation but you know the dad's name is Brad and then she married a guy named Brad this is weird wow they then they they that they both go along for the trip yeah yeah well it's summer so you know I I the thing that I thought about is that like you go through the summer days and baseball's going on you check the box score except for this summer we get a different version of that it's you check the box score on whether not baseball will play or not it's a daily thing right you check it Hey it's baseball gonna play now nope they're not going to play and then you go back back to your normal day rightly so every show we've done since like middle of April has open the same way where we look at baseball and say Hey baseball you gonna play we check the box score when we try and find out whether or not you're out this pandemic of baseball's gonna come back and play in each and every day we check we get the answer no not every single time the answer is no in the end listen originally I looked at it as the players needed to accept that their employees for a bigger picture and that if baseball wanted to implement whatever the season was whatever the pay cut was you gotta get back you gotta give laying baseball the figure out what you can do for the future well that opinion has completely flipped in my mind because now it's just the owner's messing around with the employees and the owners don't want to take any caught in a situation where now we all see businesses doing things to try and survive yet baseball does not care they don't care at all C. find the owners today going into Monday I I. except the players offer if I'm the owners knowing full well there's no way in hell your play seventy games after you have two states shut down their spring training facilities because of covert nineteen outbreaks and basically every facility in Arizona and Florida has been shut down if I'm the owners I know damn well we're not gonna play seventy games so I in good faith so I get the good press I go sure seventy games of course absolutely now we'll figure out the health stuff because you know they're not gonna be able to right away that's going to be the problem because the players are now saying we're not going to respond to your offer until we assess the health situation we'll find the owners I go to them and I say no no no no no we're good we're good we're at seven games seven games and then you try to figure out the health stuff because after you figure out all the health stuff and we're gonna play in after players start showing up to facilities and they test positive and they have to be core team because it's gonna happen a percentage of the population is going to test positive baseball players are in themselves a population just like college football players and I fell players we're starting to see positive tests all over the place it with sports players so because of that you show up people test positive like oh well we can only played fifty five games anyway sorry and so what adults talking about their Jesse Rogers on ESPN dot com has the article and Jesse rice this Major League Baseball players won't vote on the league's latest proposal to return to the field until they collect new data regarding testing for covert nineteen after several recent outbreaks at training facilities in the major league cities have taken place a source familiar with the situation has told ESPN so vote could have taken place on Sunday but now it will be delayed a day or two you're right about all the owners could say we accept it and then it will go back to the players to say well we don't think the safety protocols are sent place here's buster Olney on SportsCenter talking about how the season is not looking good for multiple reasons right now there is growing pessimism on both sides that they're going to be able to pull this off because of these two enormous obstacles first the financial obstacle yesterday the the Major League Baseball owners informed the Players Association that they're not going to alter their offer from earlier in the week of sixty gain full pro rated salary to the players and think about this to get to a middle ground of say sixty five to sixty six games would cost each of thirty teams about four to five million dollars but they're not willing to do that they're absolutely entrenched in it might be that rob Manfred might implement a season of say forty eight or fifty four games but that's only going to complicate the second obstacle which is the health and safety protocol and look it's hard to know where teams might be able to play whether it's in their home ballparks or neutral site in a bubble there needs to be absolute collaboration and cooperation between these two sides to pull this off and they are so far from that right now so as buster only license boards are he also went on to say that rob Manfred is trying to show that he's putting in effort to get this done I can tell you that an MLB side they're not afraid of a grievance per se they're not losing sleep over night it was very interesting the other day the sequence of events with rob Manfred going out see Tony Clark and then after that meeting was over rob issuing a statement that began with the words at my request as you read it you understood it rob Manfred got all the secrets of trading is a lawyer and it was like he was checking every box and if you're a pair of raise the wording in that.

"She is pocketing money for Planned Parenthood. Her daughter is a member of Planned Parenthood. Her family was among the leaders of Planned Parenthood. She rolls a favorite Planned Parenthood. And now she's getting a hundred thousand dollars in campaign support from Planned Parenthood. For liberals. They are unbothered by the lack of ethics here because they just want to elect the lefty judge. So from Neubauer's perspective, of course, take planned Parenthood's money. I'm rolling it outside money. Then the next part of this just that in total disingenuous this whole thing the fake high ground that liberals always take if you find a conservative that's ever to express the political viewpoint at anything. They say they're not fit to be a judge there. People are politically active forever and ever and ever early on in this campaign. This is a key point for me to make. Early on in this campaign. It looked like leading conservative groups are gonna make a major stand here in this race in Wisconsin. A lot of conservatives, including me were very frustrated over what happened last year in the state supreme court race when lefty dalit was elected and the conservative candidates sporadic lost. And there were indications that this was going to be a major priority for conservatives. Not only in Wisconsin. But around the country to try to keep this seat this year so expecting this Neubauer came out and condemned outside money because she thought her opponent would get a lot of it. Why is it getting any of it? As it turns out this expected support for Brian has not materialized because everybody's got the GB's because he started a Christian school. And we've seen the backlash and business groups that are often the supporters of conservative candidates are running away from Hagedorn because they're afraid of being called bigots because Hagedorn Christian this is what it's come to your Christian. You're a bigot. That's just the way the Bill that we've established the new rules. So the outside money isn't materializing for Hagedorn. But it is for Neubauer. She's getting a ton of outside money. Which is why you see a different Lisa Neubauer ad on television every five minutes. And now she's getting one hundred thousand dollars center outside money from Planned Parenthood. This is the same leasing Neubauer who when she thought the outside money would be going to the other side was condemning it now she's rolling in it. Total phoniness this no sincerity with regard to anything that they do other than that. They wanna win. They get on this high minded stuff, and they said ho the public doesn't want all this money involved in politics. They say that only when they think the other side's gonna get all the money when they get all the money. It do everything that they said about that. Jesse rice. It's the same crap. Russ Feingold poll what he ran in his last campaign and twenty. Sixty feingold. I'm not going to accept Pac money, I can accept pack money, not gonna accept pack money. So what does it do what he gets out of office starts, a pack roles pack money when he tried to get the job back to Ron Johnson. Just forty to Stanford not that in vanity issue act as though you're holier than thou you the most sanctimonious person in the world. And then when it comes time to. Put your money where your mouth is or the backup your rhetoric you're on the exact opposite side of things. Lisa Neubauer lax ethics. You can't rule on a Planned Parenthood case when you and your family are longtime supporters of Planned Parenthood. It'd be like if I got elected judge ruled on a case involving W, I S and radio. It's ridiculous. Paul asks how could she get away with it? Well, liberals get away with what they get away with who's to blow the whistle on them. Now in this case, there is a story in the newspaper out of online does have a story whether or not it moves the needle with a voter or not how much follow up with the story. Get don't know. And you have of course, the significant problem that Hagedorn is being outspent by Neubauer can even communicate. The fact that Neubauer has been caught in this brazen conflict. Hired him to do. So what is money dried up led by the realtors? I've been asked why out of all the groups that sold out Brian. Hey, good on my most focused on the realtors is because they put out a press release. They patted themselves on the back for disassociating with themselves some Hagedorn because of his Christian beliefs. The realtors, you know, these people that evolved in the realtor. So I backed on many issues over the years. They're led by the Stefaniuk group, and gene Stefaniuk what they did in the case of Neubauer. I find to be indefensible, and that's why I'm going to publicly out them for it. Nobody else is going to. Plot. At some their leftie pals, the you know, the leadership and Madison's going to be patted on the back for it. I'm at least going to let my audience know, what was done here. And when we lose control of the state supreme court, if we do we will know that the Stefani at group helped him power that to happen. What can I do about it? All I can do I guess is not ever buy a house. That's the funny X list. What good is that gonna do? I buy a house. Apparently once every three decades on that second tell my audience about it. And that's they run the realtors association. She's the head of it and didn't lift a finger to stop the anti Christian bigotry that they directed at trion Hagedorn. So I hope they're happy when new or gets on the bench and rules against businesses have rules against development of rules against the realtors. One thing after another after another after another after another, but boy, they look like they're so Tyler and because they're not gonna let a guy and monster who started a Christian school become a judge. You wonder why you have to take these days off? Gonna kill right over again that people don't even like to joke about that. They don't joking about keeling over the keel over. Remember that? What it's by health. I could say what I want. Well, that's the attitude that Lisa Neubauer takes there. Hey, you know, I'm a liberal. I can do whatever the hell I want I can take money from Planned Parenthood. And then get on the bench and rule in favor of Mike and do that who's going to do something to me. But Mark Belling, bring it up. So what my opponent doesn't have any ad money. We steered that right out of we manage the bully realtors right out of the race managed to get our J endeavoured Madison there to even joined on my side over there because they're mad. They didn't get hired to run keg adorns campaign. You know, if I do nothing else on this show. I can at least bring up the things that I happen to know some people wish I wouldn't share with anybody. I could at least do that. So you can know that RJ and Deb and Madison sellouts. Wasted. How many different segments on my show over the last couple of decades supporting and defending them, and I find out now that they're worse than typical Madison out who's just in it for themselves and couldn't care less about any issue, and will abandon you the moment that it becomes convenient to them. So they can buddy up to the groups that line their pockets. Liberalism is filled with swamp type groups, but so is conservatism of all the things Trump is Trump has talked about what he read. That's swamp thing it's real it's real in Washington. And it's real in Wisconsin. There are swamp groups and swap memories and swamp insiders who look out for themselves above all other things, including ideology. Well, I'm far more concerned about ideology than any of those other things, and I'm at least going to use my voice to let people know what's going on five forty five. News talk eleven thirty w. It's time for.

But it was always being mixture. Always that's awesome. From my earliest recollections in live. I've never been light. I go to make that change that some trials. Oh, yeah. I guess we kind of segue to bunch there. But I guess going back to bay mex- game stuff. I mean, you're the first combat allied. Then we eventually moved to Sydney, and you had the first first ones were at what was to become multiple Skype wasn't monster Skype yet it was the building. And you had a bunch of the ramps that would become monsters ramps book, and that was the first year of that was pretty Radoman going in that and entering a couple of the injured park. And maybe it was monster. When it wasn't monster yet like the the the ranch will black no different. And then the next year was monster because it was all the planet. X ramps begin the dudes from a whatever the whatever the company was code that build the ramps he was a partner and planet x continent. The whole story. There's a lot of business with the planet. X things I understand. But the guys who built the ramps were legit and kept building. And then started Munster. Okay. Yeah. I like the Vert ramp wasn't Hoffa's wise what it became. And this was only half as well as what was to become turned around. And Dow's e that Fink did that nine hundred hundred. Yep. I landed flat with the handle older. Why? And it was the fucking best thing that ever seen at the time that was mazing. And then I guess the next year when monster was was in place and the whole park was set up, and that was more international. You had a few more McKay. Asada maybe mush if he was maybe those planet x but does but deal Awad you had a couple of other like point Ken, what was still here. I guess, but he was heading America. I mean, those people involved in just us, but try to keep it as Judah. Could you know, and yeah, it was cool. And yeah, I think I think Don legit, and it was cool those prize money and those prizes and we saw a mazing riding on ever forget. Yeah. The fact that. Yeah, it you could enter and made my friends were entering and you could win cash I would Satan Spratt that was the first one the first double types anyone ever seen this and afterwards as a fuel TV Bana. Like, I got involved with fuel TV on the Foxtel with said Anthony Sedgwick to help on the TV coverage which went hand in hand we running the event. It's weird. You've got a voice thought being Mexican that bigness rice, he got a go between things, but if we could might be and get on TV, then would be more prize money, and it would be more coverage. And we again, we can build it. You know, and we'll make sure everyone's represented the we fly that we've that we park you know, what I mean? That's what doing this like with with building everyone, not just one little sane, and that meant a lot and Jill TV, and what on those projects deficiency. We'll just do the one hour show second year. We did. Five shows maybe five when I was shows, and we won the best sports coverage really on cable in Estrada you in Bolton. Yeah. Yeah. Volts in. Yeah. Can you come commentate once go to the footage just come into the studio and took crop pretty much? Fun. We used to type shit of TV, and I think everything BMX, man. And I think it ought to be trials drama and Victoria. And it was called and grocer olas dues there then make. And I remember your commentary. I watched it. I was like this does company at the time was probably Mead school. Everyone's blocks looks so RAD, and so tough watched it over and over again. And then by the time lighter on where we pause, and I became friends and everything and I just been like, that's the voice that's the trails and hanging out with. Kind of bizarre and not of me. But yeah, that's fucking rather. You to use all of your experiences through the old stuff the TV getting to number two that is hot as the saints TV? So. Yeah. China of things then using that to help promote banks games and promote Baymax, and you know, and you still rolling with twenty twenty the time. And that was rod because you're getting kick ass content full the MAG, and it was all kind of pretty awesome positive time. That would have been what two thousand six seven.
