"I mean very surprised. US and you know given the years. Because you know invariably. Come in bunches. Everything comes in bunches, airs his homers. Everything I just told him to flush it. I mean, this guy's been. Awesome for US and Go flushing move on. Multiplies. Interesting Comet Dusty Baker. Bringing up the concept of Yip's be talking about that with Dave and just a moment Charlie Morton rays pitcher was asked about Margot's catch. You sold out I, mean these. These guys are they're all in for each other and? You know put their bodies on the line and. You know they've been doing that all year Many Maine's Greek you know yet a huge game. Play was unbelievable. I'm glad he's okay. But that was Ella's phenomenal. Yours raised manager, Kevin Cash, and the play I mean just to have the ability to know where you're at and kind of the effort to save forget it. I'm GonNa hit something but I'm going in it's still hanging out of the ball was really really in Brussels. So. Of course, they're playing gained three today. With the race, perhaps putting a stranglehold on that series if they can win game three, the braves dodgers game one of their series last night. So I was part of the broadcast on ESPN radio led by Buksh Shabby Jess Mendoza in the top of the first inning. Freddy, Freeman got it done want to. "Spain, I remember laughing in the moment in the conversation. Off Air with her, because she always referenced it as Washington Football Team and at the time I just don't get that and we had conversations about it, and frankly I was wrong and I had the wrong understanding on it I'm not sitting here championing any of my understanding on it I think a lot of people had a better view of this than I did at the time. I have to say that loudly. Profess that. Because part of what I'll always do is be honest about my evolution in thought and where I hopefully am getting better, you know and things that I'm learning along the way that being said as much as we continue to look at with the straight talk brought to you by straight talk wireless as much as we continue to look at at how Dan Snyder has gone wrong and we're. This has gotten off the rails. There's a part of. Of the conversation to me that has to at least accept the fact that legal items take time, and again I said it last hour. I'll say it again. I've been a part of several different trademark issues in my life. That's that's if you've gone through any level of sports or entertainment or owned your own business. You're familiar with this. It is not a quick and easy process. It's not an inexpensive process. There are attorneys. That's been time just filing. Filling through everything they possibly can to try and see if you're trademarking clear and there are random issues, it can be anywhere in the world that slow your trademark process down any any opportunity here for the Washington football team to immediately changed, their name would have only presumed that they had already gone through that process, and if Dan Snyder did not until recently, even finally acquiesced to this. Why would he have made any sort of ground on the progress of trying to change the name? Look I understand? It's hard to give any benefit of the doubt to somebody that has handled things poorly over and over and over again, but at some point. Aren't you just piling on if you're saying well, why didn't you have a backup plan? Why would he have a backup plan? We already fault him for not looking at it that way so in my mind. What Washington. Washington is done. Today makes a Lotta Sense. They've come out until you know what we're going to be. The Washington football team, which is then going to allow us the time that we need to clear trademark law, which is then going, allow us to to have some sort of momentum towards it the way it's also going to let some of the stigma around our previous. Previous nicknamed die off before we get any blowback on the on the new nickname. There are a lot of different reasons why this actually make sense I'm not asking for anybody to give Dan Snyder credit for how we got here, but how we move forward is something that has to be at least assumed with some level of context that straight talk straight talk wireless, no! No contracts no compromise. You Guys WanNa time in. We'll let you do it in just a second, but it's opening day. Major League Baseball and I feel like it's a disservice to the sport not to get a little baseball conversation in especially when you got jess Mendoza today with Max Kellerman on I. Take Breaking down. Who has the best lineup in baseball? Check it out. He Astros I. Mean This team that I get geeked out about I. Know The dodgers. Yankees there some pretty sick lineups out there so I get. There's competition, but let's be real George. Springer Alex Bregman who I have is the MVP for this season.

"Would be more prepared to for the drama emma pitching a big playoff game on the road and then the question is if you're up two games to one after three games or you're up three. Oh then you can maybe pitra chill. Maybe even even start stripling if you're not then do you bring reu- back on short respite game for i don't know if you can. I don't know if you can move reunion. Short larry regimented he is he pitched yeah. He's not a short rest guy. No he does everything in an order. He doesn't do a bullpen session. He doesn't do anything weird rest. He throws no bullpen between starts. Hey whatever he's doing. Keep it up yeah <hes>. He's got okay but he does. He's got a really really strong regimen that he's got to by the way one of were listeners. We shouted down i. I wish i had his name because one of our listeners on friday tweeted us. Hey there because of the way. I didn't shut them down. You know we both did i did not. I don't shot listener sound it well. You don't even take their calls but yeah bellinger <hes>. We said they won't move bellenger to first base because he is gold glove rightfielder. I go to the game saturday night and there's bellenger plane. I and the reason they did it. Is it gives them more options. It on jack peterson did not work at first base right. <hes> that needed wonder is also a fantastic defensive. First baseman muncie made a couple of good place at second base as that night but until you get taylor back until you get key k back it's clear now coach going to play first base at least some of the time and in the game i went to they blake politics in in center and for do go and left and and and put peterson and let him off and <hes> and so. I think that that bell injured. I is is a real thing now <hes> by the way <hes> this is from <hes> recruit ski who's really good. <hes> stats guy works with anthony davis and the dodgers broadcast last year last year. We talked a lot about how every dodgers batter was swinging from his heels else and trying to hit the ball out of the yard every single at bat in fact last year they batted with runners in scoring position in two outs a buck ninety nine with three returned twelve slugging percentage that was tied for last in the league this year. They're tied for fifth in the league with two outs and runners in scoring position. They're batting two fifty seven with a four forty nine slugging percentage a three seventy two on base percentage so that's the the work of a very very specific diffic- approach that the dodgers are using includes a batting coach hitting analyst a specific plan for each batter as they stepped to the plate. They have really thought this through and here is the detail that you're getting from the dodgers organization that a lot of teams don't really nearly half and i think i'd like now that i got to see him play in person. I think the astros will be the favorite but they don't scare me. I think the dodgers can beat them. I i think it's a coin flip. The answers are loaded especially at starting pitching in. They have a great lineup. We own cranky but i don't think it is like i've seen a couple of people tweet well. We'll astros just won. The world series trading for grinky. I'm not i'm not going that far yet. No i'm not either in fact i heard jess mendoza today said she still likes the yankees to beat the astros because of their bullpen. Gotta get to it. I mean they have no starters. All you need is two times through c. Sabathia gets healthy. Tanaka can be really a good forum. All you need to do is get through to get through the first four innings and you're set <hes> because that bullpen is absolutely stack. I don't know if she's not not right. I don't know if she's not right yeah. I don't know if that is a site and don't know that there's too many doug double negatives in that sentence all right coming up next. It's fasttrack track. I got questions for mason. He's got it for me. We'll do it live from the beach where in huntington beach sitting on the beach at the passaic hotel nacer in ireland e._s._p._n. L._a..

"Jess Mendoza major league baseball analyst join us on the shell Pennzoil performance line. Jess Mel has a problem with a lot of times with the music that we play on our show. And so all he wants is great request was that our last segment of the show always come in with take me home country roads. Got it. I got it. Okay. 'cause I'm thinking is this like something that they with like, seven hours and twenty minutes baseball. It does. Sorry, just got what Dr to set this up. Okay. Momentum will do a better job of at that. I will believe in this baiting discussing this for a couple of segments. They about last night's game. And how it carries over tonight Mellon? I disagree a little bit on this won't tell you which side which of us each of us has taken just but how much does momentum play from one game to another in baseball. I believe in it in the postseason when he's got what fifteen hours between games, and I believe in it like, especially the back to back to travel. They like, I just it's a huge thing. And I don't think the dodgers now win the whole thing because they win this game. Do I think they went tonight because of eight yes, like there's a real thing about momentum caring for especially when you finish a game the same day that you're going to play the next. Felt like it felt like that. There was a lot of Dave Roberts a sense that in his voice, Alex saying, well, no, it's not a big deal. When he says that it means it is a big deal. What happened and how they throw a lot in that game. They thought they had it several times. How many times does he are gonna do what he did? And have that Eric cost them that game? So I think it's like when you throw all that out there, you're on the road. Now this team feels like they were done. Now. They're back in it two one. You got Richhill going against Pomeranz. It just feels like the dodgers. And I said, yes, if they don't win this game like the dodgers, I will never mentioned momentum ever again for baseball. Well, I mean, I'll I'll always feel and believe in it. But I definitely feel like there is something. And then, of course, the fact that all the guys you mentioned the got utilize that we're playing for both teams. But it's definitely advantage joggers just because of the bullpen the rely the Red Sox were like so much more on their starters. And really just four in that bullpen that. They will go to Ryan brazier Matt Barnes Joe Kelly and Craig kimbrel, and they always get that one other starter. They'll they'll use all those guys got burned last night. I think it'd be very interesting for them. Where's the dodgers their bullpen? They have a lot of different guises. They give us. All right. So Jessica Mendoza joining us major-league analyst ESPN what who has the drew Pomeranz for Boston Richhill for Los Angeles. In terms of just a simple advantage on the hill. Who do you like Richhill hands down? I mean, he's the guy that's in his mid to late thirties that literally has gone the radar throughout the last two years. He ended dodger uniform Clayton Kershaw gets up just a little bit of attention Walker. Bueller? What he's done this year. I just Richhill is that consisting. I in fact, last World Series Tim getting pulled too early because he was so dominant. He's a spin rate guys you're going to see him utilizing that curve ball ton. 'cause he gets a lot of spin on it. But he also is just so tough and nothing the gate drew Pomeranz who has some stuff. But there's a reason why you really moved to the bullpen four this series. They need them now is starter. But I I just feel like for chill someone that you want with the ball. If you're the dodgers, and you mentioned Walker. Bueller? Talked about him leaving last week just going into how important he was going to be. And I said the darn I had followed the dodgers back when the water Austin years and going back to Andy Messersmith and before even after drying and way back. I said I said this is the best. Let's forget Kershaw 'cause he left best right handed. Young pitcher. I've seen since Bob Welch with the dodgers, Bob Welch was a great pitcher and ALP yours coming along that overstated Chessel and Buehler to compare him the Bob now he will win a Cy Young before he's done, and he will honestly. Wow. And become a huge name. I feel like he goes, you know, rookie year. But I I got to see him guys in Omaha made to cover the college World Series pitching for Vanderbilt. And yeah, the stuff is there. But really even men he wasn't throwing past even ninety four ninety five. After the Tommy John surgery is actually when we saw him get up to ninety eight what impressed me the boast about him in twenty years old was just psyche. And he's how composed he was on the mound last night. There is something we're only wants to afraid though to get into the kitchen get inside, which you don't see a lotta pitchers have to do anymore. This is eighteen worth. All about the breaking ball. Don't utilize a fastball. Walk. Bueller is one of the top three pitchers. Do you still use his fastball as much as he does? And he's got a curb on slider off of it. But bueller is that pitcher that give me the ball Chevy wear against any team? Any better anytime twenty four years old and feel that way it's pretty cool to see. Why don't they? Grew up in a day when it was cimh use it. Okay. Brush 'em back. Don't let him dig in. Don't let lean over why do pictures now brought Don Drysdale up and Bob chips, and they would do with Jesse would do they would go after you would never be feeling comfortable at the plate. We talked about quarterbacks in the NFL feeling comfortable. Now, why don't pitchers do a better job of making hitters feel uncomfortable and going up in the back of them off the plate more. I think for so long, especially at the youth level. You know, everything got to be like down in a way being able to hate, you know, being able to eat your breaking ball, which is now a huge part of the game. But the setup that bringing right? You have to come inside. I honestly the only team that I've seen consistently do is research who's the pitching coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates. They teach their players and he said they come up from the minors. And I just don't know how to pitch inside anymore because they haven't been taught to and h-honestly players are more fragile now. I mean, you take football basketball. I mean, we could we could say. This about any sport right now, the players just don't have that psyche of like, I don't fear you. Yes, I could hit you. But I don't really care because I want to get in there. And that's a priority. Just most pitchers now are comfortable doing that. Jess adjustment. Does joining us. Here much is going to be made of this tonight. Because drew Pomeranz is a lefty and Dave Roberts. The dodgers manager is is. It dry as a dodger fan. It drives me nuts. But that means if he follows form like he's followed most of the time here as I certainly in the postseason. He will not start jock Petersen, MAC Muncie or Cody Bellinger, because they're lefties, and he doesn't like their match up against the lefty. We just saw jock in Muncie put balls out of the yard last night. What do you think of the Dave Roberts philosophy? I think well first of all maximum she has to be in the lineup. I guess that he wasn't against fail and price Cody Bellinger. He's gotta be in that lineup. I would be shocked. I mean, obviously might be getting the walk off. But even despite that I mean. The lineup did what happened and and Peterson at the top having on early. I would sit jockey to star and bring him in. I know he has a big home run. But his numbers are true against lefties. He struggled even came in for that one just his at bat and he struck him out. I mean, they're clear holes which Pearson against left handed pitching. Five twenty nine this season against lefties. That's the third best of any left handed batter. Why is he sitting he should ever sit again period, regardless of what he did last night. And I would have Cody Bellinger in there. And I would also say yachts money getting back into the lineup. I think it just it adds a little bit something, especially the way the pitcher's throwing hand. So I think those three pieces having jock on the bench is a left-handed hitter to come in. I don't think I would start 'em. If Muncie is not in that lineup. I mean, I feel like I'm gonna start throwing stuff at the. I just ten seconds who is your pick going into the World Series. Red sox. I I come from LA and the dodgers actually switched it like a couple of times. The series even started. But I was very big on the dodgers. If he gets everyone was taking the Red Sox. And I'm all about like, let me give you another angle here for the best team. And that was supposed to be ten seconds. Sorry, I picked the dodgers early. And honestly as I got closer to it. But it's just so talented. I love the pick T SPN radio.

"If you aren't watching it for you. Yeah. What do you got? Momentum. When it came like, this ends late goes eighteen innings, and you hear Dave Roberts saying, hey, we think we're in better shape than they are Alex Cora using everybody guys coming in kinda requesting or say, hey, I'm available. I said even Chris sale said, hey, I'm ready to go. It's gonna be drew Pomeranz. Instead how much in baseball where you just wonder can you build on that? Or is it something outsource? It. Doesn't matter were fine. I talked to the guys everybody's okay Kessler apologize. Hey could've ended with with the play where normally nine times out of ten in Kansas to make that play in Kinzler did not make that play resulted in the air and the run score tied the game. How much of a carryover effect tonight is what happened late this past night. I don't know man you here in baseball that like it feels like momentum within an inning is real. Momentum from one game to another in baseball. I don't necessarily buy because a starting pitcher determined so much. You know, I mean. Who's to say Pomeranz isn't going to first of all neither team hit last night. They were eighteen for one eighteen as a as in the game a one fifty three average Red Sox hitters in the top four spots in the lineup. Went over twenty eight with twelve strikeouts. You're only as good as you're starting pitcher rich hill could go out tonight. Give up a three spot in the first. And then forget what happened in the eighteenth last night. Right. I mean, just drew Pomeranz enrich hill they will determine whether or not. Lineups can start hitting like you're only as good as you're starting pitcher. That's an old thing in baseball. And it's so dangerous. So no, I don't buy momentum. Now, there's going to be an energy in the crowd at a buzz in the crowd. But if Pomeranz since the first three dodgers down one two three in the bottom of the first that crowd is going to be quiet. So I don't necessarily by not like in basketball man in basketball within a game. You can go on a massive run because momentum from one game to the next. I do I do sometimes believe a team can stay hot. We saw the as do it actually in baseball twenty one twenty two games in a row if you like ten twelve years ago to make the playoffs. That feels like there's momentum. I think in a game in a World Series. When you've got a team that just won a hundred and eight games in Boston's one hundred seventeen games this year. Like, I don't I don't feel like they're not going to be able to shrug this off and move ahead to gain for it just felt like that. They put it all in the last night getting up three. Oh figuring. It's over. That's the kind of the knockout punch that they weren't able to deliver. And they had numerous chances to do it. That's one that got away. I mean, you got to feel that way. If you're in that clubhouse she's way and you're going back to the hotel. You're thinking we had it. We had it a couple times. Yeah. They thought they could get a run on that fly ball that. Hey, okay. Kinsley has got a shot. At least. It's fifty fifty great throw out the plate double-play got first and third one. You take your score. And you're gonna get the lead they weren't able to do it. And then to have Kinzler when a ground ball that is not routine. I mean, he was on the outfield grass where the dirt grass meet each is. It was a stumble and then an errand throw. And there you go games over at that point. Basically, they say, okay. Balls hit that you're thinking this game's over. Right. Well, it wasn't so recover from all of that. And you have that game that goes so long and drains so much talent Pomeranz has hasn't pitched in the series at all yet in any role. The also he's wanted hasn't. But we'll see what he can do. You're right. Great pitching can silence that and then he momentum you have. But I gotta believe the dodgers got a feel incredibly good right now about where they are in the Red Sox through it all out there. Trying to go up three nothing. And now it's two one and it's a series as Dan Schulman's said now, we got a series. I if the dodgers to me, this will talk a moment because the dodgers have more momentum that any team and. Yeah. World Series action playoff action that I can ever. Remember watching baseball for a long time. I never remember momentum being this strong with one team over the other Dodger Stadium is going to be elect. I mean, it's going to be unreal. It's going to be unreal tonight. Again, you can hear it. All coverage begins seven eastern on ESPN radio, ESPN radio dot com and ESPN app. Here's one reason. Like Boston's MVP last night even in the loss. Was Nate evolving because he went six innings out of the pen. He went the last six innings, he gave up the homerun democracy. He took a tough loss. He would six innings each team used nine pitchers. And Boston only got four and two thirds out of Rick Porcelli their star. So evolve he goes six. Normally those six and a situation like that could be spread out amongst three more pitchers. You need. They could have had to pitch. Chris sale who who was available last night. They pitch price. They did. They did pitch. David price in the ninth for two hours before bringing kimbrel who went on and author involving saved them to some degree last night. Dodgers pitcher nine as well. But the reason they're not hurting as much is because Walker bueller went seven, and he was brilliant. So you're going to get. Richhill for the dodgers tonight. In a game four situation. He by the way, clinched the series against Atlanta in the NFL DS on the road in Atlanta. I just think for me, I will never, and I don't think anybody can ever talk about momentum and baseball if it doesn't carry over tonight momentum will mean nothing in baseball. If this doesn't carry over. I hear what you're saying. It feels like right? It does. But hey, you like you say baseball's different than football and basketball other sports where normally it wouldn't. But in this case, we'll see that's why it's going to be a fun game to keep an eye on the Red Sox. I wanna get it Richhill early getting one or two across in the first inning before the dodgers even have a chance to come to the plate. I think it would be a really big deal. I I want to jump on Pomeranz. Well, I wanna jump either one. But if you're saying the home team has the momentum. How do you shut that off your score? Quick dodgers got a kid at somebody's going to break out like say, where's the runs like last night? They were Nemec at the player. They could hit paper bag last night. So I mean, it was terrible. The offense the lack of ability to put the battle the ball and make to me. Me. That's something. We'll change that will change. Maybe you could finally a high scoring game. And maybe the dodgers can shop out and get a nice lead and cruise. We have crews already in this show. Yeah. Florida Georgia Georgia. The big game. We can't say what it is. We used to talk about this is something which would not able to say anymore, but the world's largest outdoor something part ballgame. More on this historic World Series game. She's going to join us here in just a few minutes. To get more into this. And let's ask her to. I mean, she's covered this game for so long and high level athlete like how much does she think momentum plays into this? I'm curious get her take on that. "Three of the World Series is coming up. Rick Portillo and Walker bueller matching up in that series. It is obviously absolutely dead cold must win lose today. And I think there's a way back historically. There has never been away back. Although Dave Roberts found a way back Dave Roberts last series. He was on that. L C S or that championship team for the right? I would love to see the dodgers make some history. Yeah. But let's not chance it. No, No, no, no. no. It's not gonna work. Joining us right now is Jess Mendoza from ESPN. She is back east. I see you're on the the getup show right now. Hey, Jess, how are you? I'm good. How are you guys doing keeping the faith? Everything is everything is good. We're a little nervous here because it's game three and we're down to what are you seeing in this series? Jess. Walker Bieler with the ball. And you know, I don't want. It's not like he's coming out like huge tape on his back like superhero. But let's face it most teams in a World Series. Don't actually get their eighth and game three. And you know, I think national you guys get that. But nationally, I think people think okay with Clayton Kershaw. You know, this is just their number three pitcher like people don't know who Walker. Bueller is. And it's not like he's been perfect in the postseason. But he to me is absolutely their ace. And they have him on the MSA game three. So so this is one of the ongoing debates here in Los Angeles. And maybe you can shed some some light on it. The national narrative is that Alex Cora is operating by feel impressing every right button. And he's not being told what to do by the front office and the Dave Roberts. I think somebody joked you could put a dodger jersey on a macbook pro and figure out what the dodgers are going to do in their in their line-up. How much control does Dave Roberts really have on. What's going on with this team on a day-to-day basis? I don't think anyone knows that you answer to that. I can guarantee that it's not the days where the manager decides the lineup, and I don't think it's like that for any team. I don't think outscore even has that you know that. That's why the front office gets paid. I mean, look at just payroll now, the percentage of money that goes to the fed office as opposed to the manager. It's because of the amount of thought in six and everything goes into making a lineup deciding matchups platooning the dodgers do that more than anybody. So even a Dave Roberts credit like it can't just be him because the amount of switches and just platooning and matches that they do alone. When at any other teams that he would need help from the front office. So I I don't know the exact percentage, but it's not just him making these decision. This is a lineup. It's built to hit a very specific way. And they're not hitting well at all right now what judgments from your perspective. Do you think that they could make to start generating more offense? I'd love to say. I mean, this guy to me like Tober baseball is one with contact. And yes, you will remember the the big home runs. You know, you look at game one. And it said, we're no Nunez. It gets the attention for the three run home run. But you don't think about the bad to lead to lead to that too? Then you get the right pitchers out of the game. Because literally simple contacted me. She JD Martinez in game two. We get sawed off with a ball that if he's trying to pull which is what the dodgers would do that this pull get the on the air all the ball. You're gonna miss that pitch instead of JD Martinez. Let's travel gets completely sought off and bounces it in right field for a base, it, you can't change that mindset. Like all of a sudden, you can't beat that team. If you're not I just feel like the dodgers had been made up, and you nailed it like they are home run. Not even home runs slugging, but strikeout team. So meaning they hit doubles, and triples and home runs when they hit. But it's not like they're going to. Ground by singles as much as the Red Sox owed any change..

As hill. Mrs high all one do Akbulut it'll be Rick poor over the Red Sox Charlie Morton for the Astros with Boston leading the series two to one. The winds and works and the one zero fastball. Swing and a miss wanted one. He'll not overpowering that was ninety we've seen him reach ninety two. And again, I don't know if it's the candidates slowly unwinding delivery or the threat of the curve ball. But he gets a fair number of swings and misses on the fastball. One one on the way curve ball and a swing. She's almost spins around backwards in the follow through that swing. It's one and two. It seemed like that curve ball started almost on the outer third and ended up off the plate inside by the time. It was in Barnes glove. News is crazy. Big wants to back to it. Again. At a swing at a base into right field macular staying on that one which was not located nearly as well. And he lives a ball into right for the first brewers hit of the nineteen. That's interesting. "That's right. That's the kind of enthusiasm. We want that. What base baseball needs more Puig's. You know what baseball could use is thinking about this the other day. What a Kardashian. Yeah. What a car dash? Ian, not be great for baseball, but doesn't say something to the Kardashians won't database ballplayer. Date basketball, they're, they're working their way around. And how many sports do you think it get before they get the baseball. Let's see. We got Reggie Bush for. We've had multiple multiple NBA players. I think you'll see soccer before you see, no international soccer. Absolutely. Riana Matt Kemp. So I mean, if we gonna can camp, then Absolutely. I'll ago, but it's still was a baseball player. Baseball haven't seen it since we could use when Kate. Berlin. We've got that. We've got a rod and j. lo, he's not obey rod as an analyst. I don't think he's very good. No, no, I really don't. What do you think he's okay and it doesn't do anything for me. I do like the fact that they're sort of the f. s. one people are trying to put together kind of a fun loose. Yeah, pre-game and she's not terribly. He's better than I thought he would be. Yeah, but he's not just don't feel like he's ever really telling me much what's weird about it is I feel like he's making it about him. Well, he needs to rebuild his image. Oh, don't you think he's making it about him that that's out of character. Character. Yeah, he seemed I will say this. He seems a lot more comfortable being a rod doing this. No question he ever seen as being a rod is a baseball player. Plus did you put in a request for? I tried to talk to people at ESPN, but they said that he's doing FOX stuff only so that way. So I don't think I'm going to do it. All right, don't do it. We've got BUSTER only tomorrow. Yes, Iran Iran, and we'll raise you BUSTER only and we had Joe Davis. So we, Joe Davis. I mean, seriously, who needs era. Nobody's a-rod. It's not gonna come on the show and tell us anything, anything. Good. No. We can get Jess Mendoza anytime we want just even does. I mean, I bet we'd have a better chance of getting jaylo than we did to get, but. All the questions I have for a-rod have nothing to do with the playoffs in all to do with like. So that picture of you as a Centaur that you have in your house or like all those paintings of you staring into the mirror and all like, I want to like that kind of stuff. Well, that's kind of stuff you're not gonna get, then I don't need them. That's that's the way he does know baseball, but I lot of people know baseball. So you just you really put him in the category of just another guy as a analysts? Yeah, absolutely. See on Sunday night baseball. I think he's really good. This studio show. I'm less. I'm less big on. They're having fun. And I liked that they're loose and they're, they're screwing around me being this honest about a rod by the way I don't care. No. But I mean, you know, is a good idea for who come to your house. I mean, what do you think's gonna? Do you think he's going to stop in the family? I just remember, no, he's yeah. What are you picking on a rod before? He's great on Sunday night baseball fan. Fabulous. He's miscast on FOX. That's the problem. That's what it is. Not my thing. You know, these not bad. I just only he doesn't these there because he's better in game than he is in studio. That is probably true. But I also I'm not watching a ton of baseball on TV anymore until the playoffs roll around. It's just see, I am. Yeah. I mean, I'm not. Here's why am I'm probably watching the dodgers you don't like about this post game show. So many post game shows the what is the first Greg's? No, I'm not. I'm talking about like the post game on TV. You know what? They do. I all the time highlights. They show you every single thing that happened during the game, which is all I can think. I just watched the game. I just want to know what you guys thought about it. And the the f. s. one guys are not going back and showing you every single highlight from the entire game. They'll. Breakdown things just show me the importance..

"This is totally speculation on my part, but it some point if all they do is pick up the option and they don't work out another contract which other words in the fall of two thousand nineteen. Dave Roberts potentially could be a free agent. Right? I tell you what the leverage would flip in a hurry and there's a natural landing spot for him. No question about it. The San. Francisco Giants, Bruce Bochy whether it's the end of this year or whether it's after two thousand eighteen years one year left on his deal. They know day Roberts with the giants organization, the people make those decisions. He's got experience. You know, he's in his mid forties. He's worked heavily with analytics. It would absolutely might be something Dave could pursue if the dodgers don't get something done with them. That would be fascinating because I'll tell you what he is not fully appreciated by the dodger fan base. And in fact, you know, one of his most difficult jobs, you talked about it on Sunday night, baseball and Jess Mendoza talked about an Sunday night. Baseball is the fact that Dave's toughest job is getting guys to accept roles max months. He's going to play against the right handers. Chris Taylor is going to play against the left-handers on down the line, talk about sort of his role in that and how tough job that is. It's probably a job that's almost impossible and it teachers thing because when I was around the dodgers last weekend and I wanna make this absolutely clear that you know some player unhappiness about whether or not I saw your report. I was going to ask you about this that I was actually kinda surprised that they were that today admit that to you, or did you just source it out that they were unhappy with with their playing time? I look, I, it's right below the surface and and it's a natural issue. Right. Sure. I mean, you have all these guys who are right in the middle of their careers, and they're being asked to give plankton this is when they're making their money. Okay. So it was very interesting and I reported that on Sunday night because of course, now not only talk to folks within the organization, but you also talk to agents and they tell you exactly what the players thinking in what's going on. But after I saw the dodgers on Sunday, I called a bunch of executives with other teams and said, hey, do you think that that model can work where you have established professionals who. Who are you? You are asking them to give plankton in their money earning years and they said, no, can't do it. Look. It's one thing. If you have a rookie guy who would tumble over backwards, he would do any job for you in his rookie year. By the third year, they understand it's business and they're trying to make their money. And that's what Dave has to balance on a daily basis. That's really hard and it would be surprising to me if the word players who were unhappy about what was going on. Let's let's talk about the Rockies for a minute. Trevor story, what? What's the latest on his forearm thing? Yeah, what the Rockies event, by the way, that's my medical description of it. Well, that's pretty much what we have. Right? The rocky saying yesterday that you know the ligament is intact and you know, they think he's going to be okay. This really does feel a lot like what we heard about Cory Seager doesn't it where? Yeah, he's okay. He's working through it. He's fine. When you have a player, talk about forum tightness, that's a concern and you hope that he's eventually going to be okay, but the fact that he's not back in the lineup right away, certainly when he does come back as with Cory, Seager will be watching closely to see if he has other discomfort lasting for me. Mr.. Mister you and I and Steve talked a lot about, yes and how he's got an arbitration year coming up. I think what he did in Saint Louis illustrates why this is such a hard decision for the dodgers he he has a stealing from Liam Niessen. He has a very specific set of skills..

"Channel, eighty Little, League World series being played. In, williamsport Pennsylvania and major league baseball doing a cool thing again this season they're having. Sunday night baseball again. Williamsport this damage. The Phillies against. The Mets with more ESPN major league baseball. Analyst Jess Mendoza with BUSTER. Only All night Sportscenter allnight baseball tonight with BUSTER only you did this game. Last year I did not. Do it I was. On vacation? What's it like when you get the big leaguers mixing with a little leaguers thing BUSTER in fifteen it only once you know the cardinals and the pirates were here last year and what was really took. Me aback, as, fact obviously when the big leaguers, get here the little leaguers will be running up and getting autographs and photos and southeast and, Instagram's stories and all that soon as I remember the cardinals, got here I got off the bus and they were going after because they'd already watched a few of. The game they literally new kids name know Carlos Martinez had some kids internationally that he goes a catcher Venezuela that he, was like. Totally adamant I need to find. A kid I want. My photo can I get your? Picture dot his autograph and it was. So genuine and this is before the cameras were even, on them or, I mean these big leaguers were fans of these kits and That's what makes us special is I think. We all need a bit. Of a reminder of. Life why? The game of baseball is really played but especially those guys they're not to like knock any player by any means but I think one hundred six games you would get it the grind but you get. Here an, oh, my gosh is it exuding just, pure love for the game that towns and most of them aren't but oh they love it, and read it off and even tell them the big leaguers, get here that there's a little bit of that just I remember when I was eleven years old I. Remember when I was twelve and you know the stories just come out and it's it's cool it's the Phillies are clearly, lost season. For the Mets with Sarah Lang's. Twice a week wind. Up having the recriminations about the? Mets season let's talk about the Phillies. I know you watch them play against the Red Sox, this week and, he felt that was an important series for them I think, just not even maybe internally, I you know. I don't know I haven't talked to the guys but you think about where people still, conversation we, talk about put the Phillies season and that way with almost every National League team at this point because it says no clear. Dominant team but the Red Sox have been the. Best team in baseball for quite some time and so when you see the Phillies and how really. They played the Red Sox this season I feel like it's just an important game to, be like look we're here and I it's one. Thing for beating up on. And another thing if we're playing the best team in baseball against, some of their best pitchers and we're competing more meeting Feel that they gave Kappler was utilizing bullpen obviously been five has out early in the third inning and he emptied, the bullpen to win that game like it was an October game so I don't. Know if there's like an internal thing there with just like look you not only want to, prove to everyone else that this team is going to compete, and, will be one of, the best teams and should be talked about but we need to prepare ourselves that we can beat everyone leaves the best baseball and that's the Boston Red Sox Yeah and I wonder if the mentality. With. The Braves Phillies now might finally this week was seeing the app I mean you were there last Sunday night when the nationals bullpen they wind up blowing the lead against the cubs David Bowie with that tremendous grand slam and they've. Lost every game since as you and I talked their nine games how the National League east seven games. On the wild card and you, got to wonder if the Braves and Phillies. This week or like you know what we're going. To win this, division one of us is going. To win this division absolutely and and I think that that's where I think everyone felt. Like, in the second half more to come out there, was this feeling that the nationals who everyone has felt is the best team just. On paper would have a resurgent Nate finally figured out and get clicking on, all, cylinders and just take over the east and NBA team not only are they not bad but they're not even in contention it all so clearly it in the, Braves and Phillies division but to me it's almost what they're getting in both those. Teams will be in the postseason Wildcard or winning the division like in the Phillies, case they want to compete all October, they wanna get farther than just a wildcard. Or division when they won't actually be a team that's contending and get into the World Series. Tune in Sunday night as Reese Hoskins in the Phillies take on the Mets, presented by deed coverage of Sunday night baseball begins. At six PM eastern on ESPN radio ESPN radio. Dot. Com and the ESPN app and at seven PM on ESPN and he watch ESPN app back to the NFL who's going to be the jets starting quarterback to start the season will it be the rookie Sam darnold out of USC. But what about teddy Bridgewater read some solid seasons Minnesota four injuries but Willie be dealt ESPN NFL nation. Jets reporter rich to meet on, ESPN radio's Dickerson and hood with Ryan Hollins. What is likely to happen at the end of. The preseason with, teddy Bridgewater do you foresee him. Being with the team when the season starts Right now the sense I get around the organization. I teddy will be traded, I just have a feeling he's. Played well he's hit two really good preseason games I think is trade value is high I think the jets are comfortable enough with Sam darnold where they would feel okay go he did with Sam at Josh mccown and I think you know there's teams. Out there that they look for a good number two, or you know. If someone suffers an injury this weekend at the third week of the preseason I think exacerbated trade so I think he'll be traded at some point we talked a little? Early about teddy Bridgewater saving not to get a you. Know having not to be? Able to get a, break, folly he, plays well then he gets injured and, then he, gets to a situation with the jets and it's not quite his. Team but give me some likely trade scenarios for teddy Bridgewater well he can? Play well and it can situation that can work for either side Sides well I don't think, the jets would wanna give them, away for nothing I mean if if it's a six round, pick they might as, well just keep them and put them on their roster But if they get the chance to get a third or. Four I think they would, strongly consider, it it would be in the weird thing is guys he's been their best quarterback if you just watched the two games Pettis been better. Than the other two but the problem with teddy, you know he's only site for. A year and this same darnold, future here in, a weather, this week next week or five weeks. Down the road he's going to be the, quarterback for a, long long. Time in New York it if they play petty this year it would. Be you know he'd be a stopgap wanted type players so. They figure why not flip it now get it draft pick it we could. Use that for something to build on of the future it it only pay a million dollars so far at various bonuses so. The, team that would get him with the other five on his contract. So he's, a very affordable contract and the jets, could basically it's almost like renting a house for a you turn around It selling it so I think they could make a nice profit Vestment teddy Bridgewater at a Pro Bowl series with the Vikings in two thousand fifteen and tours ACL. Before the two. Thousand sixteen season was back with Minnesota last season And back to baseball one of the surprise teams all of a sudden have come out of nowhere the cardinals taking on the Burs to strike young lives at the left centerfield that's in the gap down and goes all the way to the law Comes around third base he's going to store on the double by the young Seventy. Two cardinals John Rooney decoloni- cardinals radio network in Saint Louis pounds Milwaukee seventy-two, so Saint Louis right now as the second and final. National League wild card, they're a half game up on both Milwaukee in Colorado also mad Harvey five a two thirds no hidden as before he lost the. No, hit bid, gets the win as the reds and taking down the giants one Alex. Cobb a complete game for the Orioles and their forty to win, at Cleveland pirates into five, game losing streak as they get past the cubs three to one in Pittsburgh Chicago four up on. "The broadcast booth and i know we played but the history of these managers coming in with no experience at everybody thinks this is the wait a go now hasn't worked out tremendously it really has his i don't get with the yankees are thinking i i don't i don't understand how this is an upgrade from joe girardi not and i don't understand why the yankees i listen i know they're hated here and rightfully so but they have for the most part done things the right way like the yankees in the red sox have long been the gold star the gold standard of how to do things in baseball even if they even if that means that they have a ton of money but they usually make they don't make a ton of really done they filled and winning teams in the most part the roadside sailed running was now more than the yankees have but i don't understand how you wait wait to fire joe girardi at have nope nope backup plan no idea what to do and then you pluck a guy who contents versus wasn't the best analyst in the booth either to be your the manager of the new york yankees saying it should have been chessmen does i should have been jess mendoza first female manager ever but honestly i mean it just seems so it just like is mind blot battling to me but i guess there's i'd the part of red sox hands there's got to be some like like this is going to be awesome just implosion to watch i know and yet we've been saying that about the yankees for five years there i remember having this conversation with people in the red sox for an office for years and even some of them after they left and moved on to other places it was like the red sox are set up to be so much better than the yankees for the next five years the missiles like two or three years ago and it hasn't panned out at all and if the weird thing is you have mookie in the big leagues finishing second in the mvp of bogart's playing a role in a world series champion you have you know benintendi being up there in the rookie of the.
